For Ginger, kissing held a huge significance for her. Sure she had dated a couple people, slept with a couple more, and just in general, enjoyed the presence of other people. However, she hasn’t kissed that many. She could genuinely count on her hands (and maybe a couple toes) the number of people she’s willingly kissed drunk or otherwise. Of course not many people around her are aware of how much kissing is a monumental activity in Ginger’s life and she’d keep it that way. That said, as her lips glided along Minho’s lips, despite how heated the kiss was getting, she found herself melting against him slowly. It was the familiarity of the kiss; the way the kiss reverted her mentally and emotionally back to her late teens and early twenties (back when she had grown accustomed to his presence, her space becoming their space, and accustomed to how they shared kisses and worries about their futures on that dingy couch in the small studio that she had managed to somehow scrap up the money for) and kept her there for that brief moment in time.

She hadn’t planned on staying in this lip lock with Minho for as long as they were. If she was being honest, she had envisioned him pushing her away and her having to make half arsed apologies about things that she wasn’t even properly sorry for. But that never happened, he pulled her closer and took control of the kiss; his lips rough and familiar against her own and dragging her further into the mental space of not wanting this to end. Then he bit down on her lip, following it with the gentlest of tugs, and she shivered, pressing herself impossibly closer to him. She ran her fingers through his hair briefly, cataloguing the similarities and differences that she came across, before slowly drawing back from him, her teeth grazing his lower lip gently.

Panting, she gave him a once over before glancing around the bar, taking note of the people trying desperately not to seem like they seen the incident and those actively watching without an ounce of shame, and sighing softly. She turned her gaze back to him and took another step back from before bowing her head softly. “My apologies. I think I’d had a bit much to drink,” she said, her apology somewhat mumbled as she offered him the most genuine smile she could without revealing how fake it actually was.

She turned from him, took a deep breath, relaxed herself, and began walking away from him without sparing too much of a backwards glance. She paid her tab, waving off any concerns that the bartender hinted at with his body language, and grabbed her things on the way out.

Being slapped in the face by the cold night air was surprisingly less sobering than the kiss had been and as she walked down the street, making her way home without actively thinking about it, she brought her hand up to her lips and closed her eyes. Sighing again and shaking her head, she shivered slightly and continued walking. Something about that kiss seemed off and she couldn’t shake that feeling. The feelings were there and she was able to enjoy it for what it was, but it seemed like he was just going through the motions. She had been with him enough previously to know when he was going on impulse and instinct rather than going based on what he felt. He was more passionate when was more focused on his own feelings than otherwise. And now that she didn’t have his lips distracting her, she could pick up on more inconsistencies, things that weren’t typical for him in moments of intimacy that she remembered.

And then it hit her. Back in her late teens and early twenties, she looked nothing like this. She didn’t have the same confidence or the same appeal and it had an effect on the way she dressed and appeared in front of people. Now, even in her most casual state, she thought there was still a bit of elegance and classiness that people could pick up on. She may look the same, but her attitude and mannerisms towards herself were so drastically different that it was some times like dealing with a totally different person with familiar physical attributes to then. It was easy to forget the past her and get confused by this new her.

As she rounded a corner, she let out a loud, sardonic laugh, letting the wind have all of the emotions hidden that laugh and carry it away in the night.

He had forgotten her.

He had forgotten her and somehow it didn’t hurt as much as it should have. She supposed it was because she stopped blaming herself for the end of whatever they were and stopped believing in cliches, fairytales, and the various tropes found in romance and romantic comedy movies. So she closed her eyes again and let out a couple deep breaths before opening her eyes and steeling her resolve. If she was easily forgettable, then he would just have to be as well. She’d just have to make it so.
