What do the boys do when it's just them and their mama, maddie?

Sonic:

Spa day no doubt. One Sunday a month they both drop everything and spend the day on self care. She brushes his quills in all the hard to reach spots (lowkey takes him back to when Longclaw used to preen him and he melts) and he practices braiding her hair (Jojo has been teaching him).

They paint nails/claws respectively (Sonic would be lowkey embarrassed and say his claws are naturally that bright green under his gloves if anyone found out but shh their secret). Bundled up in fleece robes and surrounded in warm, sweet smelling soaps n such. Maddie is the only one he actively seeks out to just…..chill with. He will with Tom too but he has more fun out romping and getting into trouble with him. Maddie specializes in helping him slow down and relax because sometimes he forgets to. He’s getting better at yoga too thanks to her help.

Knuckles:

Oh baby he is her shadow…

Once he settles into their home (and finally understands he doesn’t need to protect it from everyday construction workers and door to door salesmen) he is insistent on helping pull his own weight around the house, literally in most cases. He’ll accompany her to the grocery store and help around her office at work. He likes horses a lot. What proud and majestic creatures they are!!

Loves watching her cook and is adamant about helping do so himself, with varying degrees of success. He’s even more into yoga than Sonic too. She also used to read to Sonic when he was first brought in. He kind of outgrew it and Tails tears through their collection on his own. Knuckles however…he cherishes the nights where she doesn’t work late and they can continue their book of the month together. His tribe would tell stories around a fire during colder months and it’s a comfort and ritual he didn’t realize he missed so much.

Tails

Where Knuckles is her shadow trailing behind her, Tails is attached at the hip. When they are alone together it’s infodump time, Maddie with biology/ecology and Tails engineering/aerodynamics. The nerding out overlaps when they talk astronomy. Maddie dabbles in it as a hobby and they study the stars together under her telescope.

Tails loves cleaning if you can believe it. Brings him a sense of peace and meditation which Maddie totally gets. They’ll often tackle a part of the house together, find some random junk in the garage or basement and then spend the next few hours talking about where it came from. Sometimes they take a night to do coloring books, just for funsies. She finds Tails is a quiet artist type on the side.

If she’s got all three for the day, she’ll take em to the skate park to blow off steam. Believe it or not she strikes me as someone who roller skated everywhere in college and still has some moves left, leaving her boys slack jawed in awe.

This tinlightenment kickstarter month has been so stressful for everyone, especially the bros. I keep the kickstarter page open all the time and I stalk it like a hawk, literally praying (heh) it goes up more

I've never been this involved in promoting a kickstarter or doing stuff to get the money up. We know Starkid stuff gets funded, it's Starkid, but TCB and Shipwrecked have harder time it seems like, and that makes me really sad

Brian thirsted himself out, Joey embarrassed himself with terms, and Corey has been giving out Starkid history to backers. We only have days left and little over 20k to make! I wanna say so much more, but I suck at writing out my thoughts

He would get jealous of any pets — though much like familial love — Ren is fully capable of differentiating between that and romantic/platonic love. So long as Angel puts Ren first and makes him their top priority, he won't be much of a threat to anyone — pets or otherwise!

You started out only as a nuisance. Not a major threat. That’s all you were. Till you (and your guardian) sided with someone that made you a threat.

Eventually defeating you, and I could see you either sacrificing the relationship with your guardian, or your guardian betraying you.

Either way you begin redeeming yourself (being forced into it since you really don’t have anywhere else to go,) helping the ninja on their journey.

When it comes to helping I think he’s very, skeptical kinda, very wary. Cause of the whole Harumi incident (assuming this is taking place after that.)

You make it hard for them /lh

But Lloyd eventually comes around to be very patient with you.

He helps you a lot, especially as an ex vilain himself. He helps you adjust and everything.

Lots of meditation and like sensei training.

She’s similar to Lloyd, a bit wary but over all patient.

Also really good regarding emotion stuff and writhing through past teachings.

Helps you get settled in to this new life.

You guys get along through his awkwardness.

He can get you to open up pretty easily, and getting you to loosen up.

You can understand it easily and begin to trust the ninja more.

Even though you can no dw get on his nerves with your tactics.

Okay depending on when it’s either 5/10 or 10/10.

But going with dr. He 10/10 raising 3 kids.

Tone tags are little indicators people put at the end of a sentence or message to clarify the intent or feelings of that message ^-^ you’ve probably seen them before. They’re really helpful especially online because it can be difficult to tell the tone of something online through text, especially if you don’t know the person and their usual speaking habits.

Just as a note: please don’t use these ironically. It defeats the purpose of tone tags and can be very confusing for some people! Just leave the tone tag out if you’re being sarcastic about it.

♡ General Tone ♡

• /j - Joking - this message isn’t serious, it’s a joke.

• /hj - Half Joking - they are joking about something but they are also likely to do it or believe what they are saying. It’s a joke and it’s not serious, but there is a little bit of truth in it. (Usually this is in the form of exaggeration i.e. “I hate twitter/hj” means they don’t really hate twitter, they do dislike some aspects of it though)

• /s or /sarc - Sarcastic - they’re saying something that is opposite of what they actually mean or feel. (Sarcasm online is also represented a lot by using long words and random capitalization i.e. “I nEvEr Would HaVe KnoOoooooOOOWnnN” they mean this sarcastically - they knew).

“I get mean when I’m nervous, like a bad dog”

Colby gasped as he pushed away his caregiver’s hand- if you could even call her that. Caregivers didn’t yell at their littles, caregivers didn’t throw things two inches from their littles heads…and caregivers definitely didn’t make their littles shake in fear.

“Don’t push me away, I’m helping you.” She spoke, her tone only making the fear worse. “Go ‘way!” Colby sobbed, scooting himself further into the corner. His caregiver scoffed, standing up. “Fine, deal with your tantrum yourself.”

“I get mean when I’m nervous, like a bad dog”

“No!” Colby screamed, pulling his wrist away from his “caregiver”. “Don’t you yell at me!” She yelled, grabbing a random object off the countertop and chucking it at the man in front of her. “Ungrateful piece of shit!” 

Maybe that was true. Colby did yell at her, which he knew wasn’t okay. It wasn’t respectful or kind…but he only yelled after she snatched his wrist so hard it brought immediate tears to his eyes. Colby looked down at his arm, now red and sore.

Why should he be grateful for that?

“I want to jump into blue water”

Colby sniffled as he wrung out the washcloth before bringing the damp cloth to his face. He looked down as the cold water trickled into the sink, he tapped his phone screen- frowning at the time.

1:30 am.

Sam would surely be asleep, he should be too. His mind was still clouded with a slight haze, leaving him halfway regressed. Jennifer had stormed out after throwing the glass cup at his face, threatening to never come back.

Was it wrong that Colby prayed it wasn’t an empty threat this time?

“And I miss riding horses,”

He missed filming videos with Sam- actually, he just missed Sam in general. Their channel was dependent on pre-shot videos…their friendship depending on iMessages and the occasional phone call.

Despite their phone calls only happening once a blue moon, Sam asked the same question every time. 

“You good? You sound tired, man.”

Colby promised him he was fine every time, not wanting to worry the blonde man. He’d done this to himself. He was the one who decided to follow Jennifier to Colorado, leaving his best friend behind.

 As Colby looked in the mirror at his injured cheek, he knew he wasn’t “fine”. 

“I miss running fast,”

Sometimes- just before Colby closed his eyes for the night- he’d think about his favorite memories with Sam. He knew it was wrong, he was the one who chose to move two states away. He’d chosen this life away from Sam. Colby knew if Jennifer ever found out, he’d be in for a whirl of hurt. 

Emotionally and physically. 

He always fell deeper into his regression before bed. If he had it his way, he’d be in his caregiver’s arms. It wasn’t always like this- Jennifer used to be nice. She used to hold Colby, reading him story after story until he fell asleep.

It was only after she got him far away from Sam that the throwing, yelling and periods of abandonment started. 

Colby sniffled, rubbing his baggy sleeve over his eyes to wipe away his tears. 

“Just think of Sammy, Sammy’ll make it better.” His brain told him.

He was right. He thought about running through the empty fields of Kansas with his best friend. When the two moved to LA together, they ran up and down their neighborhood street. Sam liked the exercise- Colby liked spending time with his best friend.

Sam had known about his coping mechanism, because of course he did. Sam wasn’t just his best friend, he was his business partner. Of course Sam knew about Colby’s regression.

Once he fell while running- which sent him straight into his headspace. Sam didn’t miss a beat in comforting the little, assuring him he was the “bravest boy in the word”. 

Laying in bed all on his own, tears streaming down his face, Colby didn’t feel like the bravest boy in the world. He just felt like an idiot.

“I pretended you were mine,”

“I’ve got you, it’s okay.” Sam’s voice told him, arms like pillows as he cradled Colby close. “Sammy?” The dark-haired man sniffled, looking up at his best friend. 

“It’s okay bud, Sammy’s got you.” The blonde promised him, holding Colby tightly. As if Colby would ever dream of leaving his best friend’s side again. “S-Sammy,” The little choked out, holding onto the blonde’s plush hoodie. 

Sam shushed him, fingers dancing in Colby’s hair. It was nice. It was soothing.

“I’ve got you bud, nobody’s gonna hurt you. Never again.” Sam promised, taking a deep set pressure off of Colby’s shoulders. 

 “It made me calm.”

Colby gasped, shooting up out of his sleep. “Sammy?” He called, looking around him and Jennifier’s room. 

Oh.

Him and Jennifer’s room.

Colby frowned, tears budding in the corner of his eyes as he attempted settling back into the empty bed. Sam wasn’t in Colorado, Sam wasn’t saving Colby from Jennifer.

Sam was nearly a thousand miles away, but tonight..tonight Colby would pretend he was right next to him, because it made the pain in his cheek- and wrist- and heart- hurt a little less.

Colby would pretend Sam was his caregiver tonight, because it made him calm.
