i haven't played this game, don't plan to, and am not part of the fandom, but from the secondhand fandom poisoning i'm getting it just seems like everyone is doing this i guess

Since you lost your list of requests, I'll write mine again đ
. how hashiras would punish reader if they get on their nerves/make them jealous/disappointed them/etc.
Male Hashira x Reader - the punishment you deserve
pairing: Tengen x reader, Obanai x reader, Rengoku x reader, Sanemi x reader, Giyuu x reader, Gyomei x reader
content warning: slight angst?
Tengen:
⢠truthfully, i think he often gets upset about the smaller things in life. the decisions made in his family of four always have to be in sync with his wants and beliefs, otherwise he could get petty.
⢠his punishments are unspoken, nothing he really tries to force on other people. however, after Suma, Makio, Hina and you all vote against his plans, his mood immediately drops.
⢠the punishment you'll receive from him will not only influence you, but his other lovers as well. he's down and nothing is as he wants. he's not happy and through little acts and petty comments, his mood will become all of your moods too.
Obanai:
⢠he will ignore you. i would bet my right hand. this man will get upset over something either justified in every sense of the word or the most stupid act you'll ever see, because you can't influence it.
⢠don't get him wrong, he loves you and he's a gentle lover too, but not after you made his day turn out this way. Kaburamaru is not allowed on your shoulder anymore, he stays by his side or can get ignored just like you.
⢠he'll make a point out of seeing you enter a room and looking the other way, pretending like that wasn't fully intentional.
⢠however, he stops punishing you rather quickly, because he wants to spend time with you. punishing you is indirectly a punishment for him.
Rengoku:
⢠i think that Rengoku and you at least share one hobby that you both love. having thrown this into the room, it'll be a thing for the two of you to spend evenings together and live out that hobby.
⢠he doesn't punish you often, but he has a good reason when he does. his punishments aren't meant to hurt you either, it's more like your actions made him upset.
⢠he cancels your little hobby dates, saying that he doesn't want to do it in this state. the way he often sadly trots away makes you swiftly follow after him, resulting in a long talk about how certain things just aren't okay.
Sanemi:
⢠he's downright mean. he'll make a point out of mentioning what you did wrong every chance he gets until you apologize.
⢠you accidentally fall? "are you trying to make me jealous again? it's not working this time." expect that you hadn't tried to make him jealous to begin with. another person had complimented you and, like the fool you were, you blushed.
⢠he's a jealous man, and while he often knows how to hide it, he'll also have times to let his frustrations out in these kinds of "punishments"
⢠"i already said i'm sorry, Sanemi..!" your sad expression makes him pause, quietly apologizing for being rude and helping you up.
⢠he's jealous, not a monster.
Giyuu:
⢠just like Obanai, he'll probably ignore you. however, he does it subconsciously.
⢠there are certain things Giyuu just doesn't like and he'll get upset seeing you do them. the unwanted feeling of anger or sadness forces him to make a quick decision. ignore you or possibly hurt you with his words.
⢠he'll try to avoid you until he has grown calmer, less prone to acting on his emotions. it's just that you'll feel hurt by the time he finally talks to you again.
Gyomei:
⢠he's not the type for punishments, at least not for any kind of punishment that could harm you.
⢠i believe he only really gets upset in extreme cases like hurting other people, which you probably won't do or - the more likely scenario - when you do something reckless.
⢠he'll certainly tell you that he wasn't fond of your actions, not liking that you put yourself in danger.
⢠however, if you have an upcoming event with him, like training together, he will cancel it. it's not a punishment in his eyes, he just doesn't want you to get hurt. of course, you perceive the canceled time differently.

lighting the fuse might result in a bang
pairing: frat!luke castellan x reader summary: Silena thinks you need to start blowing off some steam. You think you just need a fresh victory and Luke Castellan is the perfect opponent. word count: 5.3k warnings: smoking, drinking, usual college party stuff.
author's note: brought to you by my personal deep dark history with boys in hats. also i haven't gotten drunk in like 4/5 years so i don't remember what it's like so this was interesting. also i don't know anything about frats OR smoking. have the most fun <3
When Silena mentions a party you could go to, you jump at the offer, brain fuzzing at the edges where youâve been locked in on flashcards all afternoon. Itâs something youâve started to navigate better this year, remembering to have fun after a year of non-stop focus. Silena makes it easier - a social butterfly with no qualms about dragging you out of the library when she thinks youâre pushing yourself too hard - and thereâs no harm in listening to her without protest sometimes.Â
âDo you even know whoâs throwing this one?â You ask as sheâs leading you through campus, rubbing at your arms to fight the fall chill. âI do not want a repeat of March.âÂ
âHave some faith in me. Iâve started vetting my sources.âÂ
Both of you shiver, the memory of a night spent outside the Stollsâ cramped dorm still haunting you six months later. Youâre not overly familiar with this side of campus, turning away from the usual halls and towards the sorority housing, but Silena walks the path with ease, arm looped through yours.
The walk seems to have cleared your head, the music as you approach shaking off the last of the static. Youâve been here before, borrowing notes from a teammate, but itâs different like this, all pumping bass and cheers from the kitchen. Clarisse waves at you from across the room, beer in hand, and you mutter to Silena that youâre going to grab a drink. She nods, making a beeline for Drew Tanaka. You assume thatâs who the invitation came from originally.
Thereâs a different energy to the kitchen, not quieter by any means but less noisy. Less concentrated, maybe, with twenty different conversations happening at once and nothing you have to pay attention to. Most people you donât recognise, a group from your first year stats class huddled together near the sink, and the Stolls off to the side pointing at every new person they see.Â
Mixing your drink is an easy fix, the kitchen island covered in more choices than youâve seen in a while, and you savor the first few sips. Between class and swimming, youâve barely drank since the semester began and the burn of vodka isnât as numbed as you wish it was. Still, a drink is a drink so you refill it before returning to the thick of the party.Â
Clarisse takes it upon herself to drag you away from the conversation you end up trapped in with Lee Fletcher, quite literally taking hold of your elbow. You mutter an apology, however disingenuous, rolling your eyes in mock exasperation as he smiles grimly.Â
âI have no idea how you talk to that lot,â she says when youâre far enough away. âTheyâre all boring.âÂ
âLeeâs great. He always lends me notes from the lectures I miss.â
She laughs, pushing you into another room. âHeâs trying to swindle a date out of you and youâre using him for lecture notes.âÂ
You shrug. Theres nothing wrong with Lee, except that Clarisse is a little right when she says most of your classmates are boring. Itâs probably not intentional, and they definitely donât realize it, but thereâs this way they carry themselves around campus - half-nervous and half-haughty. Itâs not a great combination and itâs why you gravitate towards the people Silena meets.Â
âWe were wondering when we were going to see you next,â Chris says as he throws an arm over Clarisseâs shoulder. You still donât quite know the story there, how Chris Rodriguez managed to sweet talk your stoic teammate. One day, youâll find out - a drunken vow you made with Silena on your dorm room floor when Clarisse mentioned a boyfriend - but youâre content to let them enjoy their romance in peace for now. âAlmost thought youâd succumbed to the dark side.â
âYouâre not getting rid of me yet.â
âAnd thank god,â he knocks his cup against yours before gesturing to the far corner of the room. âBecause we need someone to kick Castellanâs ass at beer pong.âÂ
âWhose?â
Turns out, Luke Castellan is the newest brother to ksig. Thereâs not much to know about Chrisâ fraternity in your eyes, just the basics of all frats, and you know from last year that thereâs always bound to be a hotshot that needs someone to pump the brakes on their ego. Usually, theyâre on the younger side, with more money than sense and they donât expect anything from your approach. Luke Castellan isnât quite that, but heâs not far from it either.
While Chris talks to the boy who was about to play, you take the opportunity to size up your opponent. It comes naturally, a part of constantly competing, and it comes in handy in moments like this, when the element of surprise is a key factor to the situation going ahead.Â
Fitted jeans, branded polo and a stupid snapback cap worn backwards to show how cool he is. Nothing you havenât seen before, really, except thereâs this focused glint in his eyes with each plastic ball he throws like he has to prove his worth here. Itâs a simple practice, unnecessary for a silly party game, but thereâs this serious set to strong shoulders that youâre curious about.
The same way you want to know about Clarisseâs relationship, you want to know what makes Luke Castellan, whoever he is, tick.Â
âAre you trying to get alcohol poisoning, Rodriguez?âÂ
âIâm not playing you, Luke,â Chris says and you watch closely as the other boy tilts his head slightly to the left. âI just had to go and get the current undefeated champion on campus.â
Thereâs this moment that happens every time you play - those awkward seconds where everyone looks completely past you to anyone else, anyone more noticeable. You count on it, occasionally, so it takes you a moment to process the way Lukeâs gaze slides to you, drinks you in before he nods towards the other end of the table.Â
Chris mutters a quiet âyou got this,â as you brush past him, handing him your drink. Youâre not delusional enough to think you can get away with mixing your drinks this early in the game.Â
It takes two of Lukeâs shots for you to land your first, his last hour of playing an advantage you accounted for. Heâs not getting sloppy, not in the slightest, but heâs at the point where heâs a little worse for wear - a tired arm and hazy mind - and you take the chance you have at a false sense of security, taking your losses on the chin before playing the game to win.Â
Within seven shots between you, you can see Luke start to get restless. How he reevaluates the table in front of him, his three empty cups to your four. Part of you really wants to knock that hat off his head, as if itâll give you more of an insight into his mind. Instead, you wait for what you know is coming, a slight miscalculation that has the plastic ball rolling off the table to land at someoneâs feet.Â
Chris hands you a fresh one and you take in the way Luke swallows, jaw clenching as you line up your next shot. Whether he knows it or not, youâve just been handed your win.
Clarisse cheers, handing you one of the cups from in front of you as everyone yells. You both chug whatâs left of them, the bitter taste of cheap beer drowned out by victory, and as soon as thatâs done, she throws herself back into Chrisâ arms. Laughing, you turn around to find another drink, only to be met by Luke standing beside you.
âAre you about to be a sore loser?âÂ
He chuckles and itâs different like this. His eyes are brown, which you didnât know five minutes ago, and his hair is dark from the little wisps of it you can see peeking out underneath his hat. You consider telling him that the hat makes him look lame, but then heâs leaning down to whisper anyway. âI expect a rematch.âÂ
Itâs quiet and heavy and you wonder if anyone can tell that your blood feels like itâs on fire. Itâs nothing, really, and it takes more effort than you want to respond.Â
âThen expect to lose.â
The only saving grace to the exchange is that Luke looks a whole lot more affected by it, a blush crawling up his neck as you take the drink nearest to you and leave to find your roommate once more.Â
*
Losing never used to get to you. Not like this, at least, where everything sort of feels like a precipice and youâre waiting for the next loss to fall on your shoulders alone. It was meant to be an easy game, a warm-up, for when the season started in earnest and you couldnât afford to be incohesive. Thereâs always a learning curve, new starters and new competition, but in no world should it have caused this.Â
Silena tells you to let it go, throwing yet another outfit on her bed as she gets ready. When you saw her at lunch, Clarisse told you to just push harder during practice. Sometimes youâre not even sure how you can be friends with both of them, how they can be friends with each other either. Unfortunately, it becomes very clear when Clarisse knocks on the door that night.Â
âWhy arenât you ready?âÂ
âIâm not going anywhere.âÂ
She tuts at you, digging through the pile of clothing on Silenaâs bed before throwing a dress at you. âGet dressed.âÂ
âYou canât make me,â you protest, the black fabric scrunching in your fist. Youâve borrowed it before, for a party last year you donât remember very well, and you donât even want to consider why itâs the one Clarisse selected. You turn to your roommate, looking for backup, only to find her with a pair of your shoes in her hands. âAre you seriously going to make me?âÂ
In unison, they raise a singular eyebrow each and itâs unsettling enough that you let go of all will to fight them. Today may as well just be full of losses that you can mourn tomorrow.
Itâs only when you arrive at the party that you realize you have no idea whoâs throwing it. Or whoâs going to be there. Distantly, you really hope itâs a stranger Silena met on her way around campus - full of people youâve ever met and will never see again. You could find someone nice enough to blow off some steam with before going on your merry way.Â
When Clarisse yells at her boyfriend, you let out a huff as both he and Luke Castellan turn around.Â
Since your first meeting, youâve learned a few more things about Luke. Heâs from Connecticut. He was responsible for half of Drewâs sorority coming down with the flu during freshers week. Heâs in pre-med. Heâs the reason Professor Chase introduced a ban on energy drinks in his lectures (one hundred students simultaneously opening a can of Redbull each was, apparently, mildly disconcerting). Most importantly, heâs always wearing that stupid cap.Â
You try to equate the things you know with the Luke standing in front of you. Some of it makes perfect sense - Professor Chase and Connecticut - and some of it unsettles you, but itâs all true. Freshers and pre-med and track meets. Focusing on the distracted way he taps on his beer bottle instead of Clarisse greeting Chris, you kind of want to find out a whole lot more.Â
âFancy a rematch?âÂ
Itâs the first thing heâs said to you all night, twisting the cap off a fresh beer before handing it to you. Then doing the same with his own. You pretend not to notice the movement of it, the few short seconds where you can get away with staring at the shine of silver rings in low light. Taking a sip, you crinkle your nose.Â
âIâm not really in the mood,â you mutter and, at the very least, the beer is cold and you chug half of it before you even notice youâve done it. âDonât you have someone else you can bother?âÂ
Thereâs seconds before you notice it, how his eyes shift from slightly curious to intense. They donât change much but standing in front of him, you can tell when they go from relaxed to focused. How his back straightens and shoulders roll back just so. You should go and find something stronger to drink. Maybe even see if Lee Fletcher is nearby.
You stay put.
âItâs just a bit of friendly competition,â Luke shrugs, unknowing of how it echoes in your skull. How thatâs all today was ever meant to be. Leave it to him to dig the knife in again just as the tightness in your chest was starting to ease. âBut I guess you just canât handle it.âÂ
âIâd kick your ass in a rematch. Iâm doing you a favor.âÂ
Itâs obviously the wrong thing to say, Lukeâs eyes brightening as the words push past your lips. The beer you drank way too fast is forming words before you even know what they are.
âYou can always choose something else for me to beat you in,â he says, like itâs an offer, something gracious that you should be grateful for. âIâm easy.âÂ
âHow many beers have you had?âÂ
âThree, I think?âÂ
Silena would tell you itâs a stupid idea - you have a coaching session at 9am and you havenât gotten drunk since the party where you met Luke - and she would be right. But you need a win tonight, something guaranteed, and thereâs this itch that crawls under your skin the longer you stare at the boy in front of you.Â
So you say it anyway.Â
âI bet I could outdrink you.âÂ
âIâd like to see you try.â
He waits as you down two more beers in quick succession, nursing his own as you do. A clink of your bottles against one another, followed by the final sip you each take and itâs finally a competition.Â
The night continues, you and Luke almost joined at the hip. Itâs to keep track, you tell yourself, talking to a kid that might be in your organic chem class. If the kid looks at you weird for pouring two drinks, only to hand one to Luke in silence, thatâs probably just the alcohol misreading things. Only once, when youâre deep in conversation with Lee does Luke pass you a beer, eyebrow raised when Lee gives him a glare. You think that mightâve been drink eight.Â
By the time Chris finds you both again, youâve thrown yourselves onto the couch on the outskirts of the room. Someoneâs abandoned coat is thrown over your legs in a mediocre attempt to preserve some dignity in the dress youâre wearing and Lukeâs hat has twisted to the side. Youâre sure neither of you has drunk a sip in ten minutes.
âYou guys doing okay?âÂ
âWeâre drunk,â you say and you canât tell if itâs a whisper or a shout. âIâm winning.âÂ
âYouâre not winning,â Luke turns his head to glare and you blame the alcohol on the attention you pay to the slope of his nose. âNeither of us have finished these drinks.âÂ
âAre you going to?âÂ
He glances down at the cup in his hand, half empty. You can see it, the hesitation, before he places it on the floor by his feet, shaking his head. âAre you?âÂ
The nice thing to do would be to give up, call it a draw and appreciate that you managed to have fun despite the bad day that had preceded it. However, you like to win. So you grit your teeth before drinking the final three sips, tilting the empty cup towards him so he can see the proof. It takes you a second to remember you have to actually swallow in order to drink, but you do and Luke scrunches his nose. You kind of want to kiss it as a way to smooth the skin back out.
âThatâs two wins to me, Castellan.âÂ
Chris shakes his head at you both. âIâm not calling either of you to make sure youâre alive in the morning.âÂ
*
Itâs an almost unconscious action when you walk into Drewâs sorority house, how you wave Silena off in favor of scanning the crowd, searching for the one reason you agreed to show up in the first place. It takes a moment, pinks and blues and silvers all merging together in your eyeline until you spot him near the staircase, familiar black cap resting on his head.Â
Youâre already a little buzzed, the thrill of your final project this semester finally being handed in just hours ago, and itâs why you let yourself actually look at Luke for once.Â
By this point, youâve seen him in a polo and a flannel, always with jeans. Laidback. Thatâs what party Luke was. Tonight, though, itâs like heâs trying harder - baggy pants, like theyâre resting a little too low on his hips, a white t-shirt, white trainers that you know are going to stain before the night ends and a slightly oversized leather jacket that doesnât quite go with the hat you used to identify him. Maybe itâs something he does on purpose, ruining a good thing over comforting familiarity. Maybe youâll ask him.
Luke looks up then, as if he has a sixth sense, and you kind of donât know what to do with the slight wave he sends in your direction. You wouldnât call him a friend, thatâs for sure, but you nod in response before weaving through your classmates to the kitchen.
It takes two vodka cranberries for Silena to find you. And it takes four shots with people youâve never met for Chris to ask if youâve seen Luke anywhere. You tell him where you last saw him, maybe an hour ago, and he shakes his head like heâs already checked the entire house.
âDo you think you can let him know Iâm heading out?â Chris asks, one arm looped around Clarisseâs waist, more for support than anything else. She was already unsteady when you arrived and you know by the flush in her cheeks that itâll only take a couple more drinks for her to start throwing up. You nod at Chris, cradling your drink to your chest, and he mumbles a thanks while steering his girlfriend towards the door.
With both of them gone, it leaves you with little to do except go hunting for Luke. So thatâs what you do, waving Lee off as he attempts to grab your attention from the couch.Â
Focusing is a lot harder now, squinting over everyoneâs heads in search of that damn hat. Nothing. You know heâs not in the kitchen, thatâs definite, and you learn that heâs not in the garden either, Katie from your anatomy class staring at you bewildered as you explain your quest.Â
Thereâs only one place left to check for Luke and you consider if itâll be a worthwhile risk. Itâs entirely possible that heâs already left, whoever he was locked in conversation with earlier with him maybe, and youâre searching an entire sorority house on the off-chance heâs still in the building.Â
But you promised Chris. More than that, you refuse to let Luke Castellan beat you.
So you commit to the staircase, pushing past the line for the restroom upstairs. Itâs quieter up here, not by much, but you can hear yourself think clearer. Thereâs three doors on your left, all closed, and you drain the remnants of your drink so it warms your blood and erases the small part of your brain still protesting.Â
Thereâs two yells when you knock on the first door, both hurried and pitching higher as the words fade so you move on quickly. No one answers to the second door, so you crack it open enough to see inside. Itâs dark and neat and completely untouched by whatever is happening below, so you let it click shut again.Â
Luke is in the third room, you learn, pressing it open when thereâs no response to your knock. The room itself is still orderly, but you find the boy youâve been searching for sitting on the floor at the base of the bed, hat turned to the side and the sleeves of his jacket bunching carelessly where theyâve been pushed higher on his forearms.Â
âChris wanted me to tell you he took Clarisse home,â you blurt when it feels like you need to say something. âHe couldnât find you soâŚâ
Luke waits. When it becomes clear thatâs all youâre here for, he says, âWell, thanks for letting me know.âÂ
Youâve done your job. You can go back and enjoy the party downstairs, maybe make use of the empty room next door instead of remaining awkwardly in the doorway.Â
You think about how Chris mentioned that Luke can recite pi to seventeen places while drunk. How youâre still beating him by two points. How thereâs an ashtray on the floor beside Lukeâs knee and itâs sort of considerate of him to use one when no one else would.
âMind if I join you?âÂ
Being in an empty bedroom with a guy at a party isnât unusual. Youâve had your fair share of them, rushed and quiet and mostly on a bed. Sitting on the floor with Luke is different, you find, a gravity to it than you canât quite wrap your head around after so many drinks. Itâs slow and languid and you donât really say much of anything as your knee bumps against his thigh in an effort to get comfortable in the space.
No one told you Luke smokes.Â
You tell him as much.
âItâs a bad habit,â he shakes his head, twisting a cigarette between his fingers and you both act like youâre not paying rapt attention to it. âI try to avoid making it one.âÂ
âI used to. Back in high school. Gave it up when I got accepted here.âÂ
He turns to face you then, head tilted so the visor of his slanted hat brushes his shoulder. âI would never have guessed you were a smoker.âÂ
Itâs not said with judgment, just as an observation from the limited interactions youâve had since the semester began. The focus in Lukeâs gaze crawls up your spine and mingles with the alcohol youâve yet to flush from your system.Â
âYou ever blown a smoke ring?âÂ
If youâre not challenging him, you donât quite know what to make of Luke. Itâs the thing you know most about him, the way his face shifts from victory into loss. The way it matches yours, stretches from his eyes to his jaw and into clenched hands. If youâre not challenging him, you canât read him - you want to be able to read him in the low light of right now.Â
âI bet Iâm better at it than you,â you say after he answers. A short laugh escapes him, almost a huff, and it raises the skin on your arms when it meets the top of your ear. âWanna see?âÂ
âIâve only got one.â He waves the cigarette heâs been holding in front of your eyes.Â
âWe can share.âÂ
Itâs a bad, terrible, absolutely stupid idea.Â
âYouâre on, Castellan.âÂ
As he lights the end of it, you wonder if he knows what the brief flame does for his cheekbones, for his jawline. Paints them in small, defined shadows that you might still see if you close your eyes. You almost want to mention it to him. You settle for watching his lips settle around it, the sinking of his cheeks on the inhale and the noise as he exhales. Thereâs an almost complete ring of smoke in the air.
Luke hands you the cigarette and you repeat his motions, a little quicker. A little smoother. The ring that leaves your lips is full, but less circular.Â
Both of you pretend not to notice the other one staring.
You agree to best of three. You agree and you win by the tiniest margin and you hand Luke the little that remains as a consolation prize. He indulges in the last few drags and you watch him do it, looking nothing like the pre-med student you know he is. You think he could be dangerous like this, based on the way your stomach twists as he puts the cigarette out, how his head tilts back and the final wisps of smoke escape his mouth.
You arenât as drunk anymore.Â
You really wish you were.
It takes Luke a second to notice that youâve moved at all, eyes still closed but he does, and the run of his gaze across your face is enough for you to seize the last of the alcohol in your bloodstream, pushing forward so youâre actually face to face with him, knees digging into the rough carpet beneath you.Â
âCan I help you?â Itâs low and a little ragged and this is the first time youâve really noticed the thin, pale scar that stretches down the skin of his right cheek. Itâs actually a little insane how pretty he is up close.Â
âI think I want a little more than the glory of winning this time,â and half of your whisper is lost to Luke Castellanâs lips but itâs not that important anyway.
What is important is the warmth of his hand through your shirt, pressed into the skin that exposes itself as you shift even closer. Itâs the slightly rough texture of his jaw underneath your palm, the way his breath hitches in tandem with yours and you both push through it anyway. Itâs the unexpected catch of your finger on his cap and the way you give up on it entirely, finally snatching it off his head so it lands somewhere nearby.Â
Youâre not sure what you expected Lukeâs hair to look like. Horrible, probably, with odd patches that lie weirdly flat and should be covered from view. Itâs not this, wild dark curls that deserve to be seen.Â
âYou have curly hair?â You say it before you can think not to, so caught up in the discovery youâve just made, and Luke squints at you, unsure. âI canât believe you have curly hair.âÂ
Heâs preparing a smart-ass comment, you know it by the way his teeth dig into his bottom lip, and thatâs really just not going to work this time - not when heâs been lying for months behind a hat. So you do what any sane person would, twist your fingers into the curls at the nape of his neck and trail your lips across his jaw like youâll die if you donât.
His hand hooks underneath your thigh and, when you bracket his waist between your legs, cool leather brushing against your knees, you think this might be the best victory youâve experienced yet.
*
Silena knows something is up when you refuse to speak to her about the party. Thereâs few secrets youâve kept from each other since meeting, and even less since Clarisse got involved. Itâs pointless to try, mostly, since they all spill out of you when the lights go out and youâre left with each other's company. You almost forgot how annoying she could be when sheâs pushing for information.
âDonât think Iâm going to tell you either,â you say when Clarisse joins you in the library a week after the party. âI am a fortress of secrets.âÂ
âI know you hooked up with Luke.âÂ
âSeriously?âÂ
She rolls her eyes, passing you the book youâd asked her for during practice last night. âCalm down. Chris told me. Iâm down ten bucks now.âÂ
âYou bet on it?â
âOf course we did, itâs our brand.âÂ
âIâm not telling Silena,â you whisper again, frowning at your notes. You wonder if Clarisse is aware you havenât actually spoken to Luke since that night. âSheâll make it a big deal for nothing.âÂ
âI wonât tell but you should probably figure out what happens next. Thereâs a party at ksig tomorrow night before everyone goes home for the holidays.â You tap your pen against the textbook. Clarisse pushes a slip of paper towards you. Someoneâs phone buzzes to your left. âThink about it.â
When sheâs long gone, you grab the paper she left from the table. Itâs wrinkled and you smooth it as best you can beneath your fingertips. Blue ink, messily scrawled, and you commit it to memory. Closing your textbook, you leave it pressed between chapters seven and eight.Â
The party is loud, louder than youâre prepared for after flaking out on so many since your first one last year. Silena brushes past you once you arrive, shoving your shoulder just enough that it twinges and you frown. You didnât speak a word on the way here and the silent treatment is starting to drive a little crazy.Â
It feels silly now, in a place so crowded, and you breathe deeply. Someone points you in the direction of the kitchen after multiple attempts at asking and you miss the light chaos of throwing up outside the Stollsâ dorm with your best friend.Â
You grab a beer, using the table edge to pop the cap off, and it helps to ease the tightness in your chest at how unfamiliar this all is. Youâre not sure you could even find the restroom, let alone a singular person.
Pushing back into the bulk of the party, you vow to leave if you donât find him before you finish your beer. Thereâs a project you have to start looking into for next semester that could be a good use of time tonight.Â
If anyone tried to convince you that most of campus was here, youâd be willing to believe them. A drink raised in Leeâs direction, a nod to Ethan from last yearsâ stats class, a half-hearted smile at Rachel, who raises an eyebrow at you like she knows something no one else does.Â
And maybe she does, because you turn away from her to find Luke just feet away, gesturing animatedly to the guy next to him. Thereâs a beer in his hand and a hat on his head and his phone number so deeply etched in your mind since last night that you hardly think about it until youâre standing next to him again, drink placed on a table somewhere along the way.
âHi,â he smiles and his scar shifts with it. He turns to the guy from before. âWeâll catch up later, man.â
âHave I ever told you that I hate that fucking hat?âÂ
âI sort of got that when you threw it across the room.â His lips wrap around the rim of his bottle and you think you can be normal about it, go back to the way things were, until he smirks just slightly and you know you canât.Â
âYouâre such a sore loser, Castellan,â you mutter as you push yourself up to snatch it from his head. He doesnât comment, lets your fingers brush through his curls until theyâre a complete mess instead of compacted. He glances down at the cap in your hand and mutters, âAnd what is your genius plan for my hat?â
Itâs a really fucking good question. Short of getting it off his head, you didnât know what you were going to do. Itâs one thing to throw it across an empty room in the dark, another thing entirely to abandon it to a frat party. So you choose the next best thing - placing it on your own head and daring him to question it.Â
âI guess that can work,â Luke says and it sounds like a promise soaked in laughter.Â
Neither of you find it as funny when he has to tip the visor upwards to kiss you.

The real-world impact of Lore Olympus
i.e. do your research Rachel
Trigger warning: racism, fetishization, appropriation, mentions of SA
Long post ahead
A while ago, someone told me that Lore Olympus was just a silly little comic written out of boredom. That it was made to be "funny". They told me that "[I] can't hope [for] an extremely [well-written] story when it was just made with the intention to make something goofy" and that if Rachel actually wanted to make something serious like I had, she would write a book and not a comic.
At the time of this exchange, it was past 1 a.m. and I was exhausted. I did not want to argue with this person and it simply wasn't worth my time or energy in the moment.
But looking back at that (mostly one-sided) interaction, I can't help but think that there is so much wrong with that point of view. Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion about Lore Olympus, whether good or bad. But Lore Olympus isn't just some silly little nothing comic about nothing important. It is a comic that actively appropriates and erases Greek Culture. It is a comic that has no respect for the actual stories that have been passed down over thousands of years whether by word of mouth or written text. It is a comic that perpetuates a false narrative and harmful stereotypes about characters or certain groups of people. So, no, it's not just a silly little comic.
Incorrect information
Hereâs an example of what I mean:
When I was doing research for my post about the 10 year time skip, I looked up Leuce to reconfirm the little information I knew about her. Wanna guess the first thing that popped up about her?
A Lore Olympus Wiki article.
Okay. How about Minthe? Hundreds of pictures of her from Lore Olympus and a LO Wiki article as one of the top 3 results. Both character are horribly represented in LO and unfortunately there isnât really any documented stories or records that can refute how LO paints them. Because of this, other characters in Greek Mythology like Leuce and Minthe, whose stories have little to no documentation, stand to suffer the most harm from deliberate misrepresentation on Rachelâs part.
Of course well-known and better documented figures in Greek mythology face slander as well. What about Thetis or Leto? How about Apollo? All of their portrayals in LO are HORRIBLE. I have seen people online absolutely drag them to filth not because they're upset about how the character is portrayed compared to their mythological counterpart, but because they have no knowledge of how they are actually portrayed outside of LO. They just assume that's how the characters are. Similarly, people who have either very little or no prior knowledge of Greek Mythology and Culture would look at the comic and go "Yep, sounds legit. It must be true." and go about thinking that what is portrayed in LO is accurate to what was transcribed thousands of years ago.
Creative interpretations and racism/fetishization within LO
Donât get me wrong. Creative interpretations and artistic liberties can be great. When theyâre done tastefully. I personally think if done correctly, a Greek myth spun in a modern way has the potential be very good. But that's not what we were given.
Characters like Minthe, Leuce, and Thetis (all nymphs btw) are portrayed as trashy tramps who put out and are used as a foil sabotage Persephone and/or her relationship with Hades. Compare that to Greek Mythology where in the Iliad, Thetis is very well-respected by the gods, particularly Hera. Unfortunately, other similar characters like satrys (and basically any character that isnât a god) are usually portrayed as a low-class POC that can be easily exploited, manipulated, or used as a temporary villain/lover/pawn to âget backâ at Persephone, our white-coded protagonist who can do no wrong.
Additionally, there is a clear race/class bias against characters like nymphs in LO. We see many cases scattered throughout the comic of gods like Hera or Aphrodite referring to nymphs as "trash" or "low class" or the idea that nymphs do not belong with gods being heavily implied if not outright said. I cannot tell you how often I've seen Minthe be called some variant of "cheap" by the readers of LO. Even Persephone (who created the flower nymphs) treats them with such disrespect. She frequently calls them some variant of "stupid" or "simple" like saying how they're not the sharpest crayons in the box even though she's the one WHO MADE THEM. However, it's so odd not really to note that nymphs like Echo, Amphitrite, or Psyche (who was previously disguised as a nymph) are not discriminated against. This is because they are liked or trusted by the gods they are around and ergo are often portrayed as the "good ones", which is a disgusting mindset to have.
We also see the fetishization of nymphs in the comic that is disturbingly similar to the fetishization of women who are Black, Asian, or Latina. It is a known fact that Hades has a flower nymph fetish. Not only is this implied in the comic, but Rachel stated it outright in an old Patreon post. Nymphs are also generally treated as sex-symbols, disposable, and as a lesser-than. Zeus frequently displays this behavior by abandoning nymphs he knocked up in the mortal realm.
For example, when Persephone finds out Apollo is dating Daphne, she isn't upset he's dating her friend. She's upset he's dating a flower nymph, beings that are generally considered to be "rare", "dumb", and objects of sexual desire. Ew.
Even on the Lore Olympus website (loreolympians.com) nymphs are regarded as "beautiful", "desirable", and "very exotic". And when they're not described in a sexual manner they're say it with me now regarded as "low class" or "workers" for some kind of god/goddess.
Final thoughts
So not only is the characterization of characters like Minthe or Thetis harmful to Greek culture and the stories that are so ingrained in their society, but it is also perpetuating harmful stereotypes about people of color and women who are confident in their sexuality.
Of course, the characters within Greek Mythology had their own issues. Zeus was a serial rapist, many of the goddesses deemed to be "feminist" by today's standards were actually horribly misogynistic looking at you Athena. But 1. that's just how things were back then (but that does not make it right) and 2. all of the good, the bad, and the ugly is still there in Greek Mythology. They're not denying how fucked up it is, but they're also not changing their history to better fit their own narrative or the narrative of the modern world. It exists, it happened, but now it is studied and called out by historians.
Rachel, on the other hand, is doing exactly that. She is actively changing the Greek's cultural history to better fit her fic's narrative. She is constantly sweeping things under the rug or going "No this is how it ACTUALLY happened". Lore Olympus is marketed as a "feminist retelling" yet somehow, it takes allllll the ugly parts from Greek Mythology (rape, incest, problematic age gaps, dubious consent, etc.), mixes it with a majority of the issues we have in the modern world (white feminism, rape-apologists/rape culture, grooming, fetishization of certain minority groups, etc.) and then amplifies the concoction to 20. Lore Olympus cannot be a "progressive, feminist, retelling" and also have characters that are morally apprehensive/come straight from the ancient myths. It does not work. In fact, IMO it makes all the problems from both eras worse.
News flash: actual cultures that are still thriving today are not your toys. They are not "made up". They matter. Do better.

Hi Shan
I've been watching your commentary on Peaceful Property with regard to its mishandling of its class conflict themes and I have to admit that I'm coming to agree with you on it.
I had to basically go "Welp, I can't see how they get out of the mess they've made now - I guess I just have to give them a pass on the grounds of found family?" in order to keep enjoying the show, which did let me do that but also left a bit of an icky taste in my mouth.
So I guess I wanted to ask - do you think there's a way they could have handled the wealth disparity and classism issues more gracefully within the show's narrative? And also whether there are any QLs you would recommend that do handle the topic to your satisfaction? I could use something good to watch!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I feel like you always make me consider topics more deeply and reflectively, even when I don't agree with you.
Hi, thanks for dropping in! I feel you on this, and I want to be clear that my criticism of the show is not criticism of people who still like it despite these failures. If you have still been able to connect to the friendship and family themes without this getting in the way, that's great and I'm glad for you. Just because the show is doing one thing very poorly doesn't mean there's nothing of value in it.
That said, you're right, they've passed the point of no return on their missteps with the class disparity themes. Early on in the show, after several episodes in a row of ghost stories involving poor or working class folks harmed by Home's wealthy real estate developer family on top of the class disparity between Home and Peach/Pang, I said I was confident that the show had something to say about this issue. And that was true! Unfortunately, what it had to say was garbage.
To your first question, I actually think it would have been very easy for the show to handle the wealth disparity and classism issues more gracefully, and that's a big part of my frustration. They had all the ingredients--a family history of exploitation, a ghost busting team including working class folks to shed light on the family's sins, and an ignorant grandson uncovering wrongdoing case by case and learning that there was always a price for his privilege. All the show needed to do was allow Home to come to some natural realizations about his family's treatment of others, via both the ghost case work and his relationship with Peach and Pang, and then use the power and resources he has to take accountability in the form of restitution and reparations to the people and communities they harmed. My ideal story line based on what they set up in the first half of the show would have had Home setting out to right his family's wrongs and take real steps to restore the communities they harmed. Even if a full on wealth redistribution narrative was too much to hope for, at the very least Home should have been made to reckon with what his family did and set out to do better in the future, both by Peach and Pang and by his family's countless victims (including Kan).
But that's not what we got. Instead, the narrative tried to sell us on the idea that none of this is anyone's fault, and that any harm that came to people at this family's hands was the result of a "curse" or one bad apple's wrongdoing. Instead of saying anything meaningful about systemic inequality and the responsibility of the wealthy and powerful to avoid extractive and exploitative practices, they painted Home's Gramps and family corporation as benevolent, concluding that they destroyed a bunch of people's lives by accident and without intent or even knowledge. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how utterly absurd and insulting that is. On top of all that, despite Home being the one with the most power in this little friend family and making some very serious mistakes that caused harm to the others, the show consistently centered him and his feelings in all conflicts, including Peach's near death and the death of Kan's father and destruction of her community. It also ignored the very real stakes it set up for Peach and Pang's dire financial situation whenever the plot demanded. The second half of the show became all about the poor people Home and his family have harmed forgiving him without any accountability because they felt guilty he was sad, and then those same people spending their time and energy fighting to save this rich family's reputation and livelihood. That's not me offering an interpretation, that is what literally happened on our screens!
So yeah, it was bad! It was clear weeks ago that it was not going in the right direction, but I understand holding out hope that they'd pull a rabbit out of a hat or look into the camera and say sike. But that ship has sailed at this point, and Peaceful Property becomes another in a pattern of GMMTV shows that try to incorporate class disparity in their narratives and get it very very wrong.
Which brings me to your second question: are there any QLs I recommend that do this better? Yes! Here is a short list for other Thai shows that have genuinely done this better:
Moonlight Chicken: not a class disparity narrative, but the only GMMTV show to date that has depicted working class people with full dignity and empathy
Dark Blue Kiss: the only GMMTV bl to tell a romance story that involves class conflict and not completely bungle it (snaps to TayNew for having another show that did better on this)
My Ride: a slow burn romance between a doctor and a motorcycle taxi driver that gets the way their class disparity would shape their relationship right
Love Sea: this one isn't perfect (I think the working class character in the pair gets too little narrative attention relative to his rich counterpart) but it does take the class disparity seriously and ensures it informs the relationship the whole way through
Laws of Attraction: don't laugh at me, I'm serious! This show is mostly absurd but the core narrative is all about class conflict, and it informs the romance quite thoroughly, too
The Loyal Pin: including this one on the word of @twig-tea because I haven't watched yet, but I understand it's dealing with class very directly in its core relationship (with the disclaimer that it still has two episodes to go so something could go sideways)
I'd also throw in some shows that aren't really about class disparity but do include it as part of the narrative background to inform characterization and plot like I Told Sunset About You, Love By Chance, Khun Chai, and 3 Will Be Free
Outside of Thailand, South Korea is always a safe bet for strong class disparity narratives, and in QL you'll find the best examples in Hwang Da Seul's works (Where Your Eyes Linger, Blueming, To My Star 2, and currently Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo). Japan and Taiwan actually don't do much of this, because most of their shows are about middle class and working people as a rule. Miseinen, a Japanese BL that just started airing, looks to be tackling a class disparity narrative, though, and doing it well so far (not a coincidence that the source material is from Korea). And We Best Love is a classic Taiwanese BL with a significant class disparity informing the romance conflict. Blue Canvas of Youthful Days is a currently airing Chinese BL that is doing a class disparity romance and has been killing it so far.
So there is my incredibly long answer to your questions! Thank you again for sending me this kind note; I'm so appreciative that we can chat about this stuff and still maintain our love for these shows. I hope you find some things you like on the rec list, as well. :)

hey, chicken! based on your last post (the morality of witchcraft), how would you defend the idea that witchcraft ISNâT cheating/immoral?
We are in reference to this post
So I'm not like, a philosophy guy. And I don't have an answer at all. But by God I'll write an essay.
I believe the problem that causes some people to view magic as immoral/cheating, is that magic is viewed as being a force which, by default, causes harm. So if you're using it to benefit yourself, then that's always unfair/cheating.
This is mitigated if you use magic to help others, because it's immoral to help yourself (?) but okay to help others, which is just then net neutral, so magic is rarely allowed to be good. It's either neutral or bad.
However, if you don't get explicit permission to cast beneficial magic on others, then you're for sure evil. So most magic, most of the time, is always unethical to some degree. Because most magic, most of the time, is harmful and self-serving.
Right.
"Job spells manipulate hiring managers, and take away their free will. You are compelling someone else's mind to make a choice they wouldn't have otherwise made."
Well, why do we think that is true? Why would any generic "bippity boppity basil brings the jobbity" spell default to harmful mind-control?
I think what people are seeing is: a hiring manager makes a choice they wouldn't have otherwise made. And because they view witchcraft as inherently harmful and self-serving, this means that the hiring manager must have been the victim of unethical action.
Let's use a little hyperbole to engage in a thought exercise. What if the default view was that witchcraft was helpful and community-serving?:
When workers can't find jobs, that is an indicator of sickness in the spiritual body of local commerce. If you cast a job spell on yourself to find employment, you are healing one strand of that sickness. This healing is always good, just as relaxing one strand of a muscle spasm is always good.
Job spells would never ""steal"" a job from somebody else, that's just not how they work. Can you imagine thinking that sending beneficial employment energy into a community would somehow result in stealing jobs? That's literally the opposite intent. That would be like casting a protection spell that automatically puts people in danger because you are "stealing" their protection!
When you cast a job spell, what's actually happening is that you are bringing healing and support to companies who tend to be under-staffed. You are also unblocking and banishing policies that tend to turn away great candidates just because they don't have a buzzword on their resume. Companies, employees, and managers always benefit when job spells are cast on their company.
You might be pointing out that well, sure - but that's not how job spells work. The actual mechanisms depend on the type of spell you cast.
Which brings me back to the earlier point: then why is the bippity boppity basil brings jobbity spell assumed to work with an unethical mechanism?
Why is the common defense for this, "well, somebody has got to get the job and witchcraft is nothing but an advantage, just like Excel is an advantage on the resume, so if doing witchcraft is unethical, so is learning Excel, so there." ?
Why isn't the defense, "no, it's not unethical. Is pouring water into a drought-stricken pond unethical? Casting a job spell literally means generating energies of beneficial employment. When you release that into your community, you are pouring water into the evaporating pond. Those energies of beneficial employment would not have existed if you did not cast the spell, and they are fundamentally healing and restorative to your local economy, no matter whom they benefit. A job spell, by definition, challenges energies of unemployment and poverty. How could you think that's a bad thing?"
Do you see what I mean, Anon?
Why is a popular default assumption that magic is thieving, manipulative, and ruinous?
Why isn't the assumption rather that magic is generative, restorative, and healing?
Look, I'm not saying that I think all witchcraft actually is healing or restorative. My point is just to provide contrast. Having to prove that witchcraft isn't cheating is the wrong stance. You're already two steps in the wrong direction.
At the core of it all, I think it takes stepping back and asking: How did I get to a place where I have to convince myself I'm not a bad person for engaging in my faith?
I think the idea of 'the path of least resistance' has caused brainrot to the point where people actually think that it takes the same amount of magical force to kill your grandma as it does to get an Etsy sale.
I'm not saying that witches have never accidentally fucked stuff up with a badly planned spell. It happens all the time.
But I think it's pertinent to ask. If you live in a reality where you believe you don't need spiritual protection because nobody is targeting you, is that mutually exclusive with the belief that magic can easily cause awful things to happen to innocent, untargeted bystanders?
So like, if the universe is such that the behaviors of spirits and practitioners just trying to achieve their own goals is stealing, cheating, and harmful, would that not mean that the magical ecosystem we live in is indeed very dangerous, much more dangerous than mundane reality?
How can we say, "protection is almost never necessary because nobody is going to target you; but you'd better be careful, because any magical action can accidentally steal from or harm untargeted innocent bystanders."?
I don't think we get to have it both ways.
But I think both of these things stem from the same source: a worldview that colors perception of witchcraft. It doesn't come from witchcraft, but was rather applied to it.
So that's why I don't have an answer for you, Anon. How can I argue that witchcraft isn't cheating or immoral? If a witch believes that helping themselves is sinful, then any time they do that, I expect they will always feel like they are cheating or being self-centered. That's not witchcraft's fault.
If a witch believes that magic tends to maim, mind-control, and harm, I suppose that's either from personal experience and they are walking the most metal of paths, or that's because they just believe that magic is just kinda wicked.
And all I can say is, no. It's not.
But that's not a very good argument.

Hello ! Hope you're doing well! I really loved your headcanons of Bi-han's S/O relationship with his brothers it was so cute ⤠I'm curious what you think the relationship becomes if you take in account the story mode events ( Bihan's "betrayal ") because I'm sure s/o would stik by her husband and support him so how those three interact afterward? Thanks ~
Hi! I am doing okay, I hope you are doing well too! Yâall are so nice here woo hoo
I will answer this in headcanons. Bi-Han x Fem. Reader by the way! Also kind of a little sad :(
Finding out what Bi-Han had done was like a knife to the heart.
She was so close to his brothers that they were her own, as they too viewed her as a sister.
She was definitely distraught knowing that her family was ripping itself apart.
But, she could not just leave Bi-Han. She had married him, but she also married the Lin Kuei when she said her vows.
Leaving him would only result in more anguish.
She would have to support Bi-Hanâs decision either way, even if she had her doubts or believed that he was actually losing his sanity.
Bi-Han never fully discussed all the details, but he would tell her the big important ones such as the development of the Cyber Initiative and how they were close to overpowering the Shirai Ryu.
It pained her greatly, but she would smile and congratulate Bi-Han on his success. That was all she could do unfortunately as arguing with Bi-Han about his betrayal was like speaking to a brick wall.
Bi-Han believes that his brothers have betrayed him rather than the other way around. He is delusional lol.
He is blinded by his own anger and thirst for power.
It is argued whether he truly wants to kill his brothers or just wants them to stand down and let the Lin Kuei thrive.
Sometimes, she is never so sure if he really wants to kill his brothers in cold blood. In his eyes, she can see the glimmer of murderous intent, but then it will form into something else.
Like he had lost something important to him.
It was definitely arguable. She had hoped that Bi-Han would never be that cruel.
She could not bear to see any harm come to Kuai Liang and Tomas.
If she somehow ever came across them, whether it was at an event or some different way, she would feel like crying.
She would hug her boys close.
They would hug her back, joyful to be reunited with her.
They know she is not to be enemies with as their fight is with Bi-Han, not his wife.
Even though Bi-Han has stated that family is not off limits in their war, Kuai Liang cannot bring himself to harm her, nor can Tomas.
They know how much she means to Bi-Han, and he would go to the depths of the Netherrealm to protect her.
When those three reunite, it is usually quick as they cannot stay long. If Sektor or Cyrax were to catch a glimpse of them, they would be in trouble.
The brothers understand that she has to support Bi-Han no matter what, yet sometimes they feel that she is not trying enough to reason with him.
But again, they understand that reasoning with Bi-Han is something that cannot be achievable.
Once he is passionate and confident in something, he will continue to pursue it.
Just like he is passionate about overthrowing the Shirai Ryu and teaching his brothers a lesson.
Bi-Han hardly lets her leave the premises. He does not trust soldiers to go with her, and he does not have his brothers.
So only Sektor or Cyrax are really supposed to go with her, sometimes both of them will go with.
They are nothing like Kuai and Tomas though, which saddens her.
They have different personalities, and they put on the soldier face to prevent others from attempting to mess with them.
It is mainly for intimidation. That was something Kuai and Tomas hardly ever did unless it was truly needed.
Trips with Sektor and Cyrax are quick and usually not that fun. They are disconnected from her as they do not want attachments to the Grandmasterâs wife.
Supporting Bi-Han may be difficult in this because her loyalty also stands with his brothers, but since Bi-Han exiled them from ever being mentioned, her loyalties were forced to change.
She had to fully be loyal to Bi-Han and support his decisions. Just as Sektor and Cyrax supported them.
They were almost like the âreplacementsâ for Kuai Liang and Tomas. Thatâs what Bi-Han tried to show her by sending them with her when she needed a break from the Arctika.
Replacements that were never going to fulfill the places of the brothers.
She dearly misses them. She does not have much contact with them and she thinks about them often.
She thinks about her old life often, truthfully.
If Bi-Han had a change of heart, they could be reunited and happy like they once were.
Kuai Liang and Tomas give her the offer of staying with the Shirai Ryu, even though they both know Bi-Han would rip the realms apart for her.
If she is too scared of Bi-Han or he is doing worse things, they want to make sure that the door is open for her.
She can be part of their clan and live a happier life. One that is not full of darkness and evil.
But they do not pressure her or try convincing her because deep down, they know that her place is with the Lin Kuei.
She is shackled by them, she will never be able to leave unless in death.

âWhy do racists always invoke MLKâŚ?â
This is a comment from Reddit. I swear to god, itâs like the redditor who wrote this transcribed all the shit my racist, entitled, privileged, Boomer parents said my entire childhood. Like, word for word.
âWhy do racists always invoke MLKâŚ?â
First, you gotta understand their position, which is âRacism doesnât exist anymoreâ. Â Because black people arenât lynched, because there are wealthy rappers and basketball players, and because there was a black president, racism doesnât exist in the US anymore. Â And this is especially important; when black people get upset about their lot in life, it is because they are lazy and want a handout rather than earning their way like white people do. Â When a black guy is killed by cops, he was a criminal and deserved his fate. Â When a black woman loses her access to food stamps, it is because she was taking advantage of the system. Â When black people get into college, it is because they are given special privilege they didnât earn. Â And when black folks talk about reparations, it is because they want to punish innocent people so they can be handed their success rather than earn it. Â
Because there is no racism, and anytime some white person is called a racist it is likely because they donât support simply handing success and money over to people who havenât earned it, and not at all because they act racist in any way. Â And the term âracistâ has become toxic in the US lately; people lose their jobs after being called racists unfairly. Â Heck, one could suggest minorities call white folks âracistâ in retaliation, knowing there will be social consequences which are completely unearned. Â So to combat this unfair and, in their view inaccurate, narrative they employ a couple tactics;
1) âIâm not racist, you are for even suggesting itâ. Â Since racism is defacto non-existent, playing the race-card is introducing a factor that doesnât belong. Â When a black person calls a white person racist, they are not only lying, but specifically targeting someone based on their race and falsely labeling them something socially toxic with intent to cause harm. Â And the white person is defacto innocent because they would see anyone as insert accusation here, not just black/brown/gay/muslim/female/handicapped/immigrant people.
2) âBlack people donât know how good they have itâ. Â Classic myopic delusion that assumes the complete lack of racism in the US also means any ongoing hurdles faced by black/brown/gay/women/etc people are their own fault. Â The fears behind CRT are great examples of the struggle to maintain this delusion, and not have people delve too deeply into history and see how cause/effect resulted in the current socio-economic imbalance. Â And since there are successes in the black community, that is proof that racism is over. Â Black folks had a black president, now shut up and stop making waves. Â There is an attempt to show that any calls of racism are not only unfounded, but examples of success in the black community disprove systemic racism; wouldnât MLK be proud? Â And not only proud of the success, but would side with the white folks who are now experiencing reverse-racism as the lazy black folks ask for more. Â Racism, they think, is simply targeting another race purposefully, and has nothing to do with power imbalance.
3) âI earned my success, so black folks need to earn theirsâ. Â And this is the crux of it all; white folks today donât believe they are in a position of privilege because they work hard and their success was difficult. Â Many of them come from poor families, struggled to pay for college, donât have a family history of slaver ownership. Â They see any minorities complaining as trying to get privilege unearned. Â They assume that, because there is no more racism, there is balance and parity among the races. Â Illegal immigrants are trying to circumvent the law, reparations and affirmative-action programs are unearned handouts, and special months/parades celebrating a particular group/race is promoting racism by giving them special attention they donât deserve. Â Many white people see themselves as victims because they donât receive any overt benefits from being white, meanwhile minorities are showered with unearned benefits all the time. Â The Great Replacement Theory is constantly being reenforced for them as they watch society take the side of minorities anytime someone attempts to call out this apparent imbalance in their favor.
But underneath all of this is the undeniable knowledge that they are, indeed, racist. Â Whether it is a jealousy, or a fear of socio-economic parity, or ethnocentricity, they know that society isnât accepting overt racism anymore. Â And because of this, they have to hold back, watch what they say, watch how they treat people. Â âMake America Great Againâ was a call to return to a time when casual racism was fun, and didnât mean anything, and people werenât so thin-skinned. Â Being âWokeâ is forcing people to take difficult looks at the fact racism still exists, which is uncomfortable and threatens to challenge the current socio-economic stability, so terms like âwokeâ are being dismantled, misused, redirected into something that seems illegitimate. Â There is an active, desperate avoidance of acknowledging racism still exists, because admitting otherwise means admitting their world-view is wrong. Â invoking MLK isnât done out of malicious intent, but out of desperate denial of a world that doesnât fit their assumptions. Â Many, perhaps most, white folks in the US have no consciously ill will towards minorities, and would recoil in distaste at the notion of being considered racist. Â And they will spend all day explaining why they are perfectly justified in accepting a racist position on a topic and how that doesnât make them racist because the minorities in question are to blame. Â Deflection. Â Denial. Â Dismissal. Â And then vote to prevent change.

Quan Chiâs Daughter S/Oâs relationships with other characters? In a platonic manner bc her husband is still Scorpion. Like, not quite battle intros, but how sheâs like with the other characters of your choosing? Nobody would have expected a spawn of Quan Chi to be so sweet and kind and somewhat oblivious yet curious about new things, like she was with the outside world like snow and all that.
A/N: You got it! Hope y'all like these and that they make sense to you, while keeping in character with them too.đ
Sub-Zero
Kuai Liang doesn't like to dwell too much on his years as a Revenant, but he still recalls the kindness and compassion you showed him and his fellow Revenants. Hearing your beautifully haunting tunes was the few reprieves he could find in the Netherrealm, a reminder of a life outside of the screams of the damned. You were under no obligation to treat them any differently than Quan-chi did, which makes the Lin Kuei Grandmaster appreciate all the more. He doesn't mistake your kindness for weakness. After all, your kindness allowed Raiden to resurrect him and Grandmaster Hasashi in the first place. Although you don't hesitate to fight when it comes to Mortal Kombat, you would rather not fight if it is unnecessary if you had your way. However, Quan-chi would have you fight whether you liked it or not, but even then, you still offer small mercies during battle, such as quick, painless deaths. It's evident to Kuai Liang that you hold immense power but choose not to abuse it to subjugate others to your will. Sub-Zero respects your discipline and restraint regarding your abilities in that regard. While Kuai Liang was busy restoring his clan's honor, his mind sometimes wondered if Quan-chi ever found out about you assisting Raiden. Kuai Liang knew if your father ever found out that you assisted in his, Scorpion's, and Jax's revival, no mercy would be shown to you in the slightest, as Quan-chi isn't above laying a harmful hand on his kin. The Lin Kuei's Grandmaster also pondered if you would be the same person he met last time or if your "kindness" was all a ruse to take your father's place beside Shinnok. While Sub-zero doubted the latter, that didn't mean he wasn't less wary of your intentions.
Yet, despite some initial misgivings about your true character, out of everyone on this list, Sub-Zero would trust you the quickest. Even after learning about your father's deal with Sektor and his hand with slaughtering the Shirai Ryu. Although he was still reasonably skeptical, your reaction to the truth convinced him that you had no direct hand in Quan-chi's crimes. Your love for Hanzo and dedication to the new Shirai Ryu only further cemented that fact and your character. In fact, when Kuai Liang saw you fretting about your husband's return, he offered words of encouragement to have faith in your husband's strength and will, as nothing in the realms will prevent Hanzo from returning to you and the Shirai Ryu. Kuai Liang and you both grieved for Hanzo Hasashi without judgment or shame. This results in Lin Kuei's Grandmaster making a vow to himself to watch over you in Hanzo's place for however long he can.
Despite their truce, both Sub-zero and Hanzo would occasionally butt heads in matters regarding their clans; you often acted as the mediator between them to help them work out any disagreements. Usually, the two Grandmasters listen to you out of respect because you're not as blinded by clan rivalry as they are. Other times, when the grandmasters are deep in discussion, you prevent fights between Lin Kuei and the visiting Shirai Ryu. When they do and escalate beyond friendly sparing, you would step in by using your Shamisen to knock the fighters out. Often, you visit Kuai Liang at the Lin Kuei's Temple for diplomatic missions meant to foster peace between the Lin Keui and Shirai Ryu because you are not quick to anger and are willing to listen more before acting out. Your husband and Sub-Zero sincerely appreciate your efforts to maintain peace between both clans. The Lin Kuei's Grandmaster is secretly touched that you'd often journey to his clan's temple in the snowy mountains despite your aversion to the cold temperature, having been surrounded by extreme heat for most of your life. Sub-Zero is always courteous and respectful when he encounters you. Patiently answering your questions regarding the Lin Kuei and its customs or how they keep warm with the constant snow around them.
Raiden
Not even a demi-god such as Raiden is immune to bias or prejudices. Before actually meeting you, he assumed you to be another one of Quan-chi's obedient minions, even if you were the Necromancer's daughter. Yet, when Scorpion first entered the Mortal Kombat Tournament, the Thunder God noticed how much more lively you were compared to how you usually acted. Rather than just standing silently by your father, no more than a porcelain doll, you made idle chat with Scorpion and became more observant of the world around you. Your eyes filled with curious delight for everything around you, so much unlike an Oni of the Netherrealm. Raiden began to sense the light that has always shined within you but was buried and hidden by your father and Shinnok's darkness. The Thunder God hoped that perhaps, one day, you'd turn away from Quan-chi's darkness in favor of the opposing light.
Yet, the Thunder God remained cautious about you, having already learned his lesson with Scorpion, who went back on his word. Your actions during the battle at his Sky Temple, where you fought alongside your father and Shinnok, didn't help ease Raiden's mind. He could sense your reluctance, but it didn't stop you from trading blows with him and Fujin. Ultimately, Raiden's hunch about your true nature was proven correct when you revealed how to free Johnny Cage from your father's clutches before the Earthrealmer could be turned into a Revenant, like many others. As time went on, Raiden would check on your progress (without your knowledge) to see how you were fairing in your new life in Earthrealm and with your new husband, Hanzo. It pleased him to observe how you used your immense abilities to protect Earthrealm and brought balance to Hanzo, tempering his rage while he, in turn, ignited your fire.
You, however, remained wary of Raiden, fearful that Earthrealm's protector may one day punish you for your former association with Netherrealm's forces. Even after Hanzo Hasashi explained storms and clouds to you, you still can't help but feel on edge whenever you see a lightning strike or hear a thunder clap. You act with decorum and respect whenever you encounter Raiden, not wanting to give him any reason to strike you down. However, Raiden would try to assure you that he's not Shinnok, so you have no need to fear him like the fallen Elder God. Yet, your fears would seem validated when Raiden was corrupted by Shinnok's amulet. Raiden acted harsher with you, no longer trying to make you feel at ease around Earthrealm's protector. A title he made sure you never forget with his thinly veiled threats should you ever dare try to betray Earthrealm for your birth realm. The darker thunder god constantly hounded you for any information regarding the Netherrealm and its new rulers, Revenant Lui Kang and Kitana. Your skin prickled from how Dark Raiden's presence charged the air around him, and your heart picked up in speed when his red glowing eyes narrowed whenever you had no new information to give him. Hanzo, seeing how anxious Raiden made you and Raiden's building frustration and distrust for you, eventually had to step in between you and the dark Thunder God. The Shirai Ryu's Grandmaster made it clear that, under no uncertain terms, Raiden will not continue to harass you regarding the Netherrealm. You will share what you know but will come to Raiden first. You affirmed (with a small peak of your demonic form to make your point) that you agree with Hanzo, pointing out how you wouldn't betray the realm where you finally found a home. Since then, you have yet to speak with Raiden, which you honestly preferred even after the Time Merger.
Johnny Cage
Hot as Hell is how Johnny Cage initially described you, infatuated by your otherworldly beauty. You were easier to flirt with compared to most of the women who caught his eye, such as Sonya Blade, as most would've kicked his ass within 10 seconds of hearing his pick-up lines. However, that didn't mean any of his flattering one-liners worked to sweep you off your feet. Mainly because you didn't even know Cage was trying to in the first place and thought he was just being friendly with you. The flirting you were familiar with was demons showing off feats of strength and brutality or decapitating heads or hearts of demon rivals. None which you ever accepted, of course. The fact that you genuinely don't know when Cage is flirting with you confused and mildly irritated the action star, who couldn't really stay annoyed with you and your naivety. How could you know any better when you've been surrounded by monstrous freaks all your life, to the point you can't recognize what handsomeness looks like? To him, it's amazing that you're not as evil and twisted as his first agent. What with growing up in literal Hell and everything?
As for being related to Quan-chi and being a demon, Cage was dubious about you. You didn't seem as bad as Quan-chi, but you still obeyed him without resistance. At least, that's what Cage figured up until later learning it was thanks to you that Raiden was able to save Johnny from becoming a Revenant and revive Jaxs, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero. Afterward, he wasn't sure WHAT to make of you, although Cage suspected that maybe you wanted to take Daddy down and become top dog. Wrong again! When Special Forces allied themselves with the Shirai Ryu, during delegations, Cage learned that you cut all ties with Quan-chi and ran away from Netherrealm. Opting instead to help rebuild the Shirai Ryu and live with Hanzo Hasashi, who you later married. You definitely received some significant character development over the years. Slowly but surely, Johnny's reservations about you began to crumble away as the action star witnessed the kindness and humanity within you, assured that you would defend your home in Earthrealm.
Regarding your upbringing, Johnny isn't above using your ignorance of the world outside the Netherrealm against you. He doesn't do it with malicious intent, just mainly to mess with you a bit like he would with his Outworld allies and even his Earthrealm allies. But can you blame him for how genuinely eager you are to learn something new about the realm you come to call home? Johnny also thinks you could make it big in the music industry with your shamisen; it's too bad you don't care about fame or fortune.
Sonya Blade
Similarly to Raiden, Sonya was initially wary of you since she thought you were just another Quan-chi minion, never mind that you shared blood with the Necromancer. At the first Mortal Kombat tournament she attended, Sonya barely paid you any mind as she was too focused on saving Jax. Her opinion of you wasn't better when you fought against Earthrealm in the realm's war against Netherrealm. To her, you weren't a tragic friend turned enemy but an enemy she had to take down to ensure her home realm's safety. Yet, she later learned from Raiden that it's thanks to the info that you willingly gave the Thunder god that Johnny is still alive and Jax, Kuai Liang, and Hanzo Hasashi were revived. While Sonya is thankful for your assistance in saving both Johnny and Jax, that didn't mean she still wasn't suspicious of your intentions. Yet, the Special Forces Soldier did see a potential opportunity with you to become a valued ally against the Netherrealm, similar to Sareena.
Said potential opportunity came to fruition when the Special Forces opened communications with the Shirai Ryu, and you were at the head of delegations. You looked healthier and stronger, and the Shirai Ryu's colors complimented you well rather than the monotone black, greys, and hints of red you used to wear. If Sonya didn't know better, she could almost have mistaken you as human from a distance. But, just because you seemed to have turned a new leaf by renouncing Quan-chi, which Sonya respects, and settled with Grandmaster Hasashi with a child on the way doesn't mean Sonya would invite you to the next Fourth of July Potluck. However, the Special Forces soldier does have some sympathy for you, surrounding how you escaped the Netherrealm. She knew Quan-chi was a cowardly bastard, but for the Necromancer to send her former friends and allies to kill his own daughter was just a whole new low. Son of a bitch didn't even care enough to look at you as he did it. Still, despite knowing of your history, Sonya sorta saw you to be weak. Not in terms of power, given you could go toe-to-toe with Raiden and Fujinn, matching them blow for blow; there's also your shamisen, which you could make SIndel's Sonic Screams look like whispers and THEN some.
Yes, Sonya recognizes you don't like to abuse your power, but it wouldn't kill you to use it more than how you usually do when it means saving more lives! Sonya isn't assured that such power is in her capable hands when you listen to Johnny Cage, who takes your ignorance of the world outside the Netherrealm to mess with you and get on her nerves. However, General Blade changed her mind when Shinnok returned after two decades imprisoned in his amulet. While she, Johnny, Kenshi, and Hanzo were weakened and swiftly defeated by Shinnok, you did not go down so easily. Granted, Sonya didn't see much of the fight, having been knocked unconscious. Still, the little she did see was a 9-foot draconic-looking demon trying to sink its fangs into the Fallen Elder God, who kept its jaws open with two giant skeleton hands. It wasn't until later that General Blade learned that you and that draconic demon are one in the same. While Sonya did gain some newfound respect for you going all out to fight your former master, she still hasn't forgotten how you and Grandmaster Hasashi attacked the Special Forces compound where Quan-chi was being held. However, considering no one was killed and for your effort in fighting Shinnok, Sonya is willing to let it slide, just this once.
Lui Kang
You never met Lui Kang when he was alive. Of course, you knew about his victories in the Tournament you attended and against Shao Khan. Shortly after Lui Kang was felled by a mixture of his fire and Lord Raiden's lightning and his following resurrection, you officially met the Shaolin monk. Upon his resurrection, he was so furious that he cursed Raiden's name to the Heavens. Unlike with Scorpion, this undead spirit frightened you. Maybe because, while Scorpion was made into a Wraith, Lui Kang was made into a Revenant, a being that's more mindless than a Wraith that "lives" to serve their new master/s. Your father, Quan-chi, informed you of the circumstances surrounding every new Revenant's death, albeit with a few details twisted here and there. Quan-chi assured you that while he did resurrect them to serve Lord Shinnok, the latter will ultimately bring them justice for their deaths. So, despite your misgivings, you sympathized with the monk and his fellow Revenants and set out to treat them as you had treated Scorpion. Since you were technically ranked above him, Lui Kang treated you in the same cordial manner as your father, minus the reverence. The former monk was sometimes tasked with guarding you or escorting you to different places as all of you moved to hide away from Earthrealm's watchful gaze throughout the Netherrealm. Lui Kang only really spoke with you if you talk first, keeping his answers short and curt unless Raiden is somehow brought up. Then Lui Kang goes into a passionate tirade, which seems to bring the former Earthrealm Champion to "life" the most. While deep down, some part of him recognized and appreciated your kindness for him and his fellow Revenants, the former monk was far too gone from Quan-chi's corruption and his rage to care.
That's why, when Quan-chi ordered him and his fellow Revenants to kill you, Lui Kang obeyed without a second thought. The former monk had his suspicions about you, seeing how you tired throughout the day despite claiming to have been in your quarters all night. Those suspicions only grew when he saw you staring off into the distance with a smile and a flower in your hand despite no flowers in the Netherrealm. Lui Kang tried to warn his Lord about your nightly absences and behavior, only for Quan-chi to dismiss him. The Necromancer assured Lui Kang that he raised you to obey your father, so what if you sneaked off for fun? You always return to him in time, yet you ultimately proved to be a traitor. In his mind, it only served you right for betraying your Lord and your father for Earthrealm. In fact, it was Lui Kang that nearly killed you, leaving you with a giant burn scar on your chest over your heart. He had you pinned down, finally catching you after a long chase through the Netherrealm. The Revenant then placed his fist over your heart, slowly heating it up until it was glowing white, his body an immovable wall that you could only squirm against as your flesh began to sizzle and it became harder to breathe. The worst part of it all? His smug, shit-eating grin as he reveled in your slow death, unbothered by your wails of agony. Lui Kang happily announced how, without you, he would now be Quan-chi's right hand rather than you and would no longer have to be subservient to a weakling like you. Luckily, Sareena came to your rescue, knocking Lui Kang off of you before dragging you to a portal to Earthrealm.
When you first met the past Lui Kang, brought to the future thanks to Kronika's doing, you got a "bit" heated. Heated as if your true demonic form began to bubble to the surface, letting out a growl when you set eyes on the Shaolin Monk. Your husband, thankfully, calmed you down by squeezing your hand and reminding you this is Lui Kang isn't the Revenant you've known. You took some calming breaths before welcoming Lui Kang and his fellow monk, Kung Lao, to the Fire Gardens. Throughout the war against Kronika and her allies, Lui Kang noticed how on edge you were around him. Sure, his future allies who have fought his Revenant, including Cass, kept him at an arm's distance but watched him as if expecting him to attack at any moment. As much as Lui Kang tries to distance himself from his Revenant, trying to prove to you and others that he and his evil counterpart aren't one and the same, the monk knows that you will always be wary of him at some level. However, you and he both later made your peace, expressing how you wished you could've met him before his death. Lui Kang agreed; perhaps you could've been good friends if things were different. Nonetheless, Earthrealm's champion recognizes your kindness and unwavering love for your home in Earthrealm, incredibly amazed that, despite their efforts, neither Quan-chi nor Shinnok could snuff out that light within you. When Lui Kang became the new Keeper of Time, he ensured you would have as little connection to Quan-chi as possible. While he couldn't prevent ALL hardships in your life, The new Titan made it so you retained your musical talent. It was now your choice and your choice alone on what you would do with your music and how to live your life. Not your father's, not Shinnok's, Kronika's, or Lui Kang's, yours.

Questions About Hellâs Cutest Couple Answered:
Who was interested first?
Y/N. She had a crush on Alastor since she first saw him at an Overlord meeting. She found him charming and funny but never thought heâd give her the time of day. You can imagine her surprise when he approached her one day to ask her out for coffee. His feelings developed a little later, but when they came, they came strong! He didnât even realize how bad he had it until it was too late.
Who said I love you first?
Surprisingly, Alastor did. It was for all to hear during a radio broadcast. They finally went public with their relationship, which meant the press trying their hardest to get a closer look at them as a couple. Both despised the unwanted attention (it was another reason they wanted to keep things hush-hush in the beginning), so when someone had the nerve to get a few shots of them on a date, Alastor used this as an opportunity to send a message:
âBefore we get to our next song, I'd like to announce something: those who choose to involve themselves in my relationship will receive an exclusive look at the Radio Demon. Just ask this aspiring journalist who stopped by to not only take photos of our private outing but also ask very in-depth questions about our activities in the bedroom."
Cut to the guyâs pained screams pleading for forgiveness and for it all to end.
"Anyway, I'd like to dedicate this ballad to my beloved Y/N. I love you sugar, and I can't wait to see you tonight. It'll be just the two of us!"
Who's more protective?
Both are protective in their own ways. As we know, Alastor always wakes up and chooses violence, and ensuring no harm comes Y/N's way is no exception. If anyone says anything uncouth towards her, flirts with her, or threatens her, they'll have him to answer to.
Y/N, meanwhile, has inherited the Carmine composure and doesn't let too many things bother her. However, she doesn't mind whacking a few heads regarding people she cares about. In the past, she's done so for business purposes. She's more than willing to do the same for Alastor.
Who cleans more?
Definitely Y/N. Whether it's cleaning up after they've eaten or a body one of them needs to dispose of, she's the one who always jumps up to take care of things. Alastor will find a way to help if it means less work for her.
Who eats the most?
Alastor! We all saw the deer right? He might've taken his time with it, but it was still a lot! Y/N can have a big appetite, but it's nothing compared to her cannibal cutie's.
Who spends the most money?
Y/N. She comes from a rich family, which means spoiling her loved ones. She loves buying things for Alastor like vintage radios and instruments he can play. He does his fair share of gift-giving, but she's the shopaholic who tends to ship things to him.
Who is most likely to start an argument?
Whether intentional or not, Alastor is the one whose actions lead to the most arguments. Y/N knew he could be a handful before they became a couple, but that doesn't mean she has enough patience to put up with him. He does find ways to make it up to her, be it through gifts or sincere apologies. She forgives him eventually.
Who falls asleep first?
Y/N. Alastor doesn't sleep much, if at all, and mostly spends his time lurking around while occasionally watching her sleep.
Who is more annoying?
Definitely Alastor! We already know how much of a smartass he can be and how invasive he is with others' spaces. Y/N is no exception, especially when she's annoyed with him. Eventually, he'll drop the act to be sincere with her and either comfort her or apologize if he did something that resulted in him owing one.

TW: mentions of bad mental health
im imagining eddie being absolutley taken back when he finds out how people have previously treated you resulting in hesitation when being vulnerable with him.
and he's been through some shit, he's not exactly one to be voluntarily vulnerable either but with the tables turned it's like a moment of oh. like you're hiding from him, muddling your own emotions as a means to keep the peace.
he realizes that coming in strong, asking "what's wrong?" almost too oboxiously like he's previously done, only chases you further into your mind, it only insinuates that there are consquences if you were to answer so rather than being met with honesty, it's always "nothing" followed by forced smiles and sucked back tears that he's regrettably brushed off in those moments, trying to keep you comfortable. but while his intention to ease your chaotic mind by simply moving on had no ill intent, he soon recognizes the harm its caused and the pattern he's assisted in creating.
realizes he takes it far too personal when you shut down on those particularily bad days, thinks it's cause of him, only to contribute to the self destruction taking place in your mind when he continuously begs the questions "what's wrong?" "what do you want me to do?" "what can I do?" "come on, tell me what's wrong". he never understood that he was never the issue but he quickly made himself into one by nearly berating and prodding you with his questions. and then one day he sees it. sees the way your eyes go dull when he asks.
sees the front you put on, "everything's okay" while your lip wobbles. he doesn't take it personal this time, there's nothing distracting him from the obvious signs, the symptoms of broken hearted individual struggling to keep up despite the aches and pains that linger within. its a heartbreak he's so familiar with yet seems to be so blind to in others, thinking he's the only one to experience it, not selfishly but hopefully. so he straightens up and silently tells himself to quit all of his bitching because this is bigger than him, it's not because of him. you need him and he's been too insecure to think that maybe words aren't required, not by you anyway. there is no quick fix, no remedy to just stop the pain like popping an ibprofen or slapping on a bandaid, it just is. raw pain and vulnerability that should be allowed to be felt, not cured.
so this time, he recognizes the wall you put up, just like every other time though it was previously ignored. before he can even say anything, he knows you're anticipating his bombarding questions that have no answer. sees the way you tense up, the slight panic in the way your fingers tremble at the prospect of being figured out. except this time he speaks softly, a shake in his voice because he's terrifed to scare you off once again. says "i love you" then gently wraps you up in his arms, provides a barrier between you and the world you're at war with.
holds you on the kitchen floor, face pressed to his chest with a mixture of tears and snot.
runs his fingers down your spine delicately.
whispers "it's okay" when he knows it is in fact not, only hoping you're able to decipher that he means it's okay that you're not okay, it's okay that it's 1AM and while the world is asleep you're both tangled up on top of crumbs and possible neglected coffee stains
apologizes.
because for all those times you've coaxed him through an unwarranted episode, he's been neglecting you at your worst. not on purpose but it's neglect nontheless. and he knows all about it.
sings under his breath when the sobs have stopped wreaking havoc on your body. quiet hums of a familiar song, you are my sunshine.
tucks you into bed, makes you a late night snack cause he knows your appetite fails you in times like these, kisses your forehead and threads his fingers through your hair.
he's not perfect nor has he ever desired being held to such a high standard. but for you he wants to try.

How to Diagonise the Evil Eye using Tarot
Itâs a fun little trick that I learned that really helped me and others to find if the evil eye is affecting them. Itâs rooted in Italian folk tradition.
First get any tarot deck you have handy and take out six cards: 10 of swords, 7 of swords, the Devil, The Star, The Sun, Temperance.
Face them down on top of each other taking deep breaths before shuffling as you shuffle facedown. Chant this incantation three times:
âSaint Michael sees what the devil bids, anger bursts, and envy dies, and I now have the Archangelâs eyesâ
Now it has catholic symbolism for obvious reasons, you can if it makes you uncomfortable replace Saint Michael and the devil with other names.
I used Athena once for this incantation cause she is also known to drive away evil spirits and energy.
âLady Athena sees what evil bids, anger bursts, and envy dies, and I now have the Goddessâs eyes.â
Whilst chanting do it slowly and patiently while having your eyes close, take a short pause after each shuffle so that you can get an accurate diagnosis. Then flip over the first card ontop for an answer.
Positive for the Evil Eye: The Devil, 7 of Swords, and 10 of swords.
The Devil: The Eye is present and direct result of someoneâs manipulation and deception usually by someone close that you actually trust but the person is masking their bad intentions be careful around them especially when it comes to money.
7 of Swords: The Eye is present by someoneâs result of envy and jealousy or intent to harm. Can be someone you know or a stranger.
10 of Swords: The Eye is Present by oneâs own pride and ego whether intentionally or not. A card to check the querentâs behavior.
But the other Three: The Sun, Star, Temperance. Are cards that are negative to the presence of the Evil Eye. In my own personal practice I did give them meanings to help explain why I donât have it. I see that these cards are under protection from the divine like The Star and Temperance. The Sun is joy and good tidings of yourself and people around you. Nothing is eclipsed the sun or your joy. The Star can be healing as well maybe you got rid of the Eye already or the person who casted the eye and recovering from the experience.
I hope you all enjoy this I learned it from Antonio Pagilaruloâs book The Evil Eye. From using this technique it helped me a lot and I even helped others to get rid of the eye within my family. I really hope this will provide you the same benefits that I experienced!
Tarot used: The Crow Tarot by MJ Cullinane.

they said it so well
In hindsight the popularity of using âdemonic cultivationâ for what Wei Wuxian uses is running counter to what is actually in MDZS being used. It is resulting in a lot of fandom confusion, particularly since demonic cultivation is a xianxia genre standard. But thatâs not what is going on in MDZS. The genre standard demonic cultivation revolves around stealing qi, absorbing life energy from others, possessing others to get access to their greater cultivation abilities, and in general much more assholery than what Wei Wuxian does. The actual term used by Wei Wuxian and most of the narration in the novel is GuÇdĂ o; aka Ghost Cultivation. It revolves around manipulating the dead, using resentful energy as a power source, and to be absolutely blunt it is a form of necromancy. It is the âredirectionâ option in dealing with the dead; drain away resentful energy so that you can convince the dead to finally let go and be liberated. Either by getting the justice they were denied in life or having lifted the worst of their anger and attachment so they can think clearer. Not demonic cultivation. The very title âMo Dao Zu Shiâ is part of the subversion element and part of setting in motion assumptions about the story for the original Chinese readers who know the genre and what the usual tropes are. Because calling it âGui Dao Zu Shiâ would give away too much from the start of what is actually going on. Also per MXTX, Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are âmorally perfectâ and as that is the intention given by the author herself, that means nothing Wei Wuxian does with ghost cultivation has to actually harm the ghosts in a way that would be morally wrong. Like destroying them, preventing them from reincarnating, that kind of thing. He does not hurt the dead. Heâs honestly shown to be more friendly with the undead; he is endlessly kind to them in fact and even gentle. Polite too and that deserves marking because Wei Wuxian ignores most manners because he generally doesnât care. But he puts that care into how he treats the gui (undead) he commands and works with. He gives them rewards for a job well done as shown in the Yi City arc! The one who does use ghost cultivation to hurt both the living and dead is Xue Yang who is repudiated by Wei Wuxian; âXue Yang has to dieâ is what he says and that is what he helps Lan Wangji do. But the actual founder? The guy who made it and is the absolute master of it? Rejects that kind of thinking all the way through the story, even at his lowest.

the tag on ao3 is Demonic Cultivation (Modao Zushi) when it should really be Ghost Cultivation | Guidao (Modao Zushi) or something similar, and there should also be specification on which canon is being used, bc in CQL, the manhua, and the donghua, Guidao has adverse affects when in the novel it doesn't do shit to the practitioner.
#im so angry at the fact that everyone calls it demonic cultivation when its so blatantly wrong >:(#you should be more genre savvy than this!!!! clasic demonic cultivation in xianxia involves brainwashing people into becoming mindless--#servants and eating other peoples' golden cores to increase their own cultivation and sacrificing 13 people to summon an actual demon!!!!#mdzs#mxtx mdzs#mo dao zu shi#mo dao su zhi#modao zushi#the untamed#the grandmaster of demonic cultivation#the grandmaster of diabolism

the fact that buffy goes through All That and comes out still pretty and blonde and with perfect makeup can, of course, be chalked up to bog-standard misogynist beauty norms. female characters on tv were, and largely still are, groomed and beautified to a level frankly unattainable for any real person, buffy maybe more than most. sarah michelle gellar was an official spokesperson for maybelline during the shows run, and buffy's appearance was geared towards bringing in male viewers; of course she was never going to be anything other than unrealistically beautiful.
and yet, somehow, in the context of the story, it works! look, far be it from me to ever, EVER say a female character design is better without scars, and if any other character went through the kind of shit buffy regularly goes through and didn't end up with a scar or two to show for it, i'd call it stupid and cowardly. hell, i'll call it stupid and cowardly in the case of buffy too! certainly her lack of physical scarring wasn't primarily motivated by attention to story or theme. all the same, it manages to dovetail really neatly with those things in a way that imo adds to the character.
in-universe, we can confidently assume the reason buffy isn't covered in scars is that she has that slayer healing factor going for her. she gets hurt, but even major injuries heal quickly and don't leave a trace. good thing, too -- the show already has a hell of a time selling the idea that she's somehow keeping her identity as the slayer a secret, and it would be that much tougher for us to suspend our belief if this purportedly normal high school girl was walking around with the marks of violent conflict on her face.
the fact that she doesn't -- that she is outwardly normal -- ties into the thematic aspect of this. because we know buffy isn't normal; she's the slayer, and she's got plenty of psychological scars to prove it. at various points in the show, she lashes out from post-traumatic stress; she goes catatonic; she spends an entire season depressed and engaging in self-harm. in short, my girl is fucked up! crucially, though, she only ever makes this anyone else's problem when things reach a boiling point and she can't keep it bottled up anymore. she's the slayer, and that, to buffy's mind, means shouldering the burden of being the slayer alone. she maintains a double facade: an outward one, for the benefit of the wider world, where she pretends to be a normal girl; and the one she puts up around her friends, where she pretends to be okay. she's fucked up inside, but she doesn't show it. scars on the inside, but none on the outside.
in fact, we do see buffy with a scar once -- her wishverse counterpart in "the wish" has a prominent facial scar. not coincidentally, that version of buffy is a lot less concerned with appearances ââ in terms of clothes, hair, and makeup, as well as in terms of behavior. wishverse buffy has been through the wringer, but unlike real-world buffy, she makes no attempt to hide it. she's hardened, cynical, jaded. she wears her scars on the outside.
it's also worth nothing that wishverse buffy's behavior is very reminiscent of faith's in a way that is likely intentional. that entire season is all about contrasting buffy with faith, her shadow self who represents her selfish impulse to cut loose and cross all the boundaries she's set for herself -- which would include her need to keep up appearances.
so: a line can be drawn between the doylist unnaturalness of buffy's appearance and the watsonian unnaturalness of her behavior. her proximity to, and emulation of, faith results in a thematic move away from that unnaturalness. this is in a season that's noted for its homoerotic undertones, wherein the show goes out of its way to establish parallels between faith and buffy's big dumb hetero star-crossed lover angel. hmmmm!!!
(also, lest we forget season 6, which buffy spends flirting with the temptation to drop the pretense and indulge in her own selfish desires, a temptation which is embodied by another shadow self, who has -- wait for it -- a prominent facial scar.)
in conclusion, a cool facial scar, an hour alone in a rage room, and getting fucked right by a girl might not have fixed buffy summers, but it couldn't have hurt. discuss

Excerpt from this story from The Revelator:
Thereâs no sugarcoating it: The 2024 election was terrible news for science, the environment, and the role of expertise and evidence in public policymaking. A lot of important things we care about and have worked hard to create and protect are going to be broken, some beyond repair. Destructive things we worked hard to prevent are going to happen â including some that we wonât be able to undo.
While nothing exactly like the second Trump administration has happened before, some elements of what weâre likely to see mirror the era of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. And several scientists affected by Harperâs repressive policies tell me that by working together and planning strategically, we will be able to stop some of this.
During Harperâs time in office, from 2006-2015, Canadian government scientists were prevented from sharing their expertise in government policymaking. The government also banned them from speaking to journalists or the public, often referred to as âmuzzling.â The Harper administration destroyed libraries and stopped some new hiring of experts in key areas.
The intent was simple: The administration had ideological policy goals, and they werenât interested in letting facts, evidence or reality get in the way of achieving them.
The second Trump administration will almost certainly do this â and worse. They already took a stab at it the first time, when government experts who warned the public about harmful policy choices faced serious professional retaliation and taxpayer-funded sources of key information were suppressed, hidden, or even deleted.
What can we do about it?
I spoke with several colleagues who experienced working under the Harper administration, as well as several experts in the role of evidence-based public policymaking. They offered some clear advice.
Step One: They Canât Delete What They Donât Exclusively Control
For scientists working at government agencies, they suggest making copies of everything so it can be stored somewhere else â and to do that as soon as possible, certainly well before the next administration starts.
Step Two: Prepare to Speak Out (or Blow the Whistle)
Once the new administration takes place, one of the first things theyâre likely to do will be to institute their own muzzling policy.
With this in mind, several colleagues pointed out the importance of getting information about whatâs happening to the public. Investigative journalism sites like ProPublica are already actively seeking sources from government agency employees and have provided detailed information on how to safely and anonymously communicate with them. Research those options now, so you have the tools in your back pocket.
Step Three: Collaborate (Sometimes Quietly)
Thereâs another way to make sure important work still happens and gets communicated, several colleagues told me: Government scientists can work as part of teams that include external scientists. Working with collaborators on research projects means that even if you arenât allowed to comment on a result or project, someone else can share it.
Step Four: Reveal How the Sauce Is Made
Several experts pointed out that agency-level regulatory decisions and reports, and changes to internal policies about how to communicate them with the public, rarely make headlines. This means that far too much of this will happen in the shadows. At the same time, we all have a duty to make sure that everyone knows that â despite some occasional bureaucratic annoyances â we are safer, healthier, and more prosperous when key decisions are made by people who know what theyâre talking about evaluating the best available evidence, rather than by uninformed idealogues.Â
Step Five: Embrace Bureaucracy
And what if you see potential harm coming down the pike? Some experts advise using all the resources at your disposal to slow their implementation. Large bureaucracies like government agencies have their advantages in this regard.
Step Six: As Painful As This Is, We Can Get Through It
While the âmuzzlingâ of scientific expertise under the Harper administration has effects that are still being felt a decade later, it did not and will not last forever. Neither will this.

V's Yandere Alphabet v2.0
Synopsis: An updated and improved version of my original with more content. For those who have read the original, the big changes can be seen in entries L, P, Q, V, X, and Y.
Author's Note: I wrote the original during a troubling time and it resulted in the project taking 6 months and me hatting it by the end. However, after being encouraged by someone asking me if I would write for the other guys and my completionist side being bugged by how the original alphabet was not complete, I went back in and felt more motivated. I actually kind of want to write for the other guys now! Still no promises though.
The yandere alphabet I am using is an edited version of one made by no gender bee on tumblr. I added missing letters, changed some of the letters/descriptions, and altered some of the grammar (like using Canadian spelling).
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction for personal entertainment. If you are reading this, please understand that drawing/writing/reading/imagining things of this nature does NOT equate to desiring or supporting real-world assault.
Abuse = Could they ever hurt you physically or mentally? What would be the reason?
Physically? No. Mentally, kind of. He would not do it with the intent of causing harm, but some of Vâs mental manipulation can hurt. Heâll pull at your heartstrings, saddle you with guilt, and talk in circles to get you to comply with his wishes all while using flowery language to mask the manipulative web he is weaving.
A big one, and the most common form of mental strain he gives you, is when he is desperate for attention and at the end of his rope. He will plead for it, reminding you that neither of you knows how long he has left to live and that he only wants to spend it with you. He does this to show you how much you mean to him, but he is also aware that he is inciting guilt in you. He does not realize how deeply and long it can affect you though until you tell/show him.
Both = You are a Yandere too, whatâs their reaction?
V is intrigued and finds it amusing at first. His obsessive tendencies take longer to form, and he also does not believe he will live long so he sees your invasive and manipulative actions as entertaining with no fear of long-term repercussions. Even if you think you are being sneaky, he sees everything you are doing and he enjoys watching your reactions as he either plays along with your schemes or effortlessly evades them.
But once he finds himself falling for you in return, he gets rather depressed. He sees how desperately you want him, yet he knows, no matter how much he wants you as well, that all of your attempts to show your love will be in vain. Heâll try to pull away from you, but the more you chase, the more he wants you.
Then he finds out a way to live longer and his restraints are finally broken. You and he revel in your shared obsession, happily lavishing each other with love and attention. He sees your quirks and views them as romantic gestures. He finds out you have been stealing his things? How it warms his heart to know you want him close at all times even when home alone. Why donât we move in together darling to save you the trouble? Youâve cancelled his plans with others behind his back? Well, why didnât you tell him you wanted a night alone? He would love nothing more. Youâve killed a supposed love rival? Snuffing out another's life just because they threatened to take his love, though not necessary as you already have his heart, is such a beautiful display of adoration that he just has to give you a reward~
Crazy = How easy do they enter crazy mode? How do they act when they are in it?
It takes a lot for this man to snap. He is the essence of calm and collected, able to keep his composure in circumstances where most would panic and/or become angry. You could rage at him before walking out the door claiming you will never return, and though he will put up a bit of a fight, he knows deep down that you are just lashing out. After you have time to calm down you will be back in his arms soon enough. Whether by your own means or his, that was yet to be seen. This man could be in the middle of getting arrested and he would comply because he knows that this is not the end. He could easily escape prison and find his way back to you. The only true end is death, and that is what will cause him to snap.
Not his own death per se as that mental break will be directed and contained to himself. If his plan for extended life starts failing, he will fight tooth and nail to survive while rushing through the stages of grief. The most this will affect you is that he will disappear for a while as he tries to find a solution before returning when he realizes there is no hope for him and begs you to stay with him until his last breath.
The true snapping point would be a result of your life almost being lost, particularly if you try to take your own. Knowing or, worse, catching you trying to end your life flips a switch in him. He already had a lot of stress from trying to preserve his own life, but when he realizes that he could lose the primary reason he fought so hard to live all of that effort, panic, and stress gets funneled into caring for you. Now that he perceives a proverbial ticking clock for both of your lives, he will no longer allow a single second to go by without you. He will lock you up in his home and become your caretaker, tying you up so you canât hurt yourself and taking care of all of your needs himself like feeding you and bathing you. You are his everything, and he will not let a second of both of your possibly short lives not be spent together. (see Kidnapped)
Difference = When can you notice a difference in behaviour in them? What are the first signs that their love for you is unhealthy?
At first Vâs yandere tendencies were subdued and easily hidden. For the first couple months of knowing you he was under the belief that he was not long for this world. His body was actively deteriorating and soon he would have to return to Vergil.
But then he found a way that he could continue living as his own person. Maybe through killing and absorbing Urizenâs life force rather than merging with it or by somehow stealing it from others. Either way, there was a chance for him to survive and pursue a relationship with you. That is when he changed and that is when you start noticing his obsession with you.
He won't totally indulge in his attraction to you until he has proof that this lead is viable, but he will suddenly become more affectionate. Where he once kept any compliments and flirtatious remarks shrouded in flowery language so that you could not quite tell if he meant it that way became more direct and regular. The few feet he always put between you two was shorted as much as you would allow.
When he does gain evidence that his plan for a longer life is working, all restraints are off. He immediately goes to you and confesses his love. He may even tell you right then his true origins, why they resulted in him being distant at first, and how now that he has a long life ahead of him he is excited to spend it with you.
Enjoy = Do they enjoy what theyâre doing to you, your life and the people around you? Do they show it?
V does worry about how some of his actions affect you. He is a bit of a philosopher type, often getting lost in thoughts or conversations about the deeper meanings and effects things have on people and the world as a whole. He is also introspective so he will occasionally worry himself over what he is doing. This line of thought doesnât only trigger when you show hints of discomfort or hesitation. You could be perfectly happy, but he is privy to the manipulation and trickery of his that you are falling for. He considers and speculates on how his actions could warp your mind in the long run. And when he pictures the worst-case scenario, he might just guilt himself into admitting to, and apologizing for, a recent misconception he gave you.
He did not say those things with malicious intent, he just wanted to protect you from the cruel world and keep you loving him.
Force = What, if any, kinds of things will they force on you? Isolating from friends and family? Going on dates? Physical affection and/or sexual acts?
If you are a demon, to any extent, V will force you into a contract with him, assuming he is unsuccessful in his initial attempt at convincing you to join willingly. Depending on your battle prowess he will even call you to (relatively easy) fights along with his other familiars. Seeing you in battle is just as beautiful as seeing you dance to him so he will gladly do it as long as the risk of permanent harm is practically nonexistent. No matter how skilled you are in combat though, your primary duty as one of his demons is as a companion. With you being bound to him he can call you to him whenever he wishes to be with you, which is most of the time. Heâll try to offer you space and as much free will as he can, but the more obsessed he becomes the more he will abuse this power over you. One thing to note though is that he will not force you into romantic or sexual acts, even if he technically could through your contract. No matter how much he desired you, he would never hurt you in that way.
Alternatively, say you were a human. He would force you, again assuming you donât fall for his flowery words, to take on a demon familiar. Not just any demon though. Specifically, he wants you to bond with one of his familiars. If you want more than that that is your prerogative, the more safety you have and empowerment you feel is only a boon, but being partially bonded to one of his familiars is his requirement. He tells you that he wants to keep you safe by giving you access to one, or more, of his demons for protection, and this is true. Though V is their primary master, V will willingly put himself at a disadvantage in battle by allowing you to call one of his familiars for protection. And if you donât call them V will send them to you. He also advertises the practical benefits of having creatures at your beck and call. One aspect that he does not fully disclose though is how being bonded to a demon under his command also acts as a tracking device for when you try to run. (See Hide)
Gross = What is something they think is really romantic/sweet but is actually horrifying?
He writes letters and notes to you using his blood as ink. Sometimes it is just his signature coloured burgundy, and other times you find whole notes or poems scrawled in thin, inconsistently faded cursive which he delivers to your home or work with a bandaged arm.
He already puts his heart and soul into these letters. To him, offering part of his body with them shows you his complete devotion.
Hide = How easy is it to hide from them?
Depends on if he has bound you to one of his familiars yet.
First, let's assume he hasn't. Then, honestly, itâs pretty easy as he is but one man with not a lot of connections. He can send out his familiars to scan the area for you, but they can not go too far from V. That is only if he works alone though because the few connections he does have are with people who hunt down living creatures as their profession. Sure, hunting a demon is not quite the same as hunting a person down and his friends will initially question why you would run off, but V just has to string together a tail of how you are being influenced by a denizen of hell and that they must find you before it is too late. Sure enough, he will convince the morally just crew of demon hunters to find his love and now half a dozen people are calling in favours and travelling the country looking for you. And when they do find you, even if you try to tell them that you ran away from V willingly, Vâs story has already cemented itself in their brains so they will drag you back anyway. A caveat to this plan is that the crew will get more and more suspicious if you run away multiple times and V keeps asking them for their help.
One of the benefits of binding you to one of his demons is that he won't have to risk growing doubt within his friends. With you bound to one of his demons (see Force), no matter where in the world you run V can track your location by getting his familiar to appear around you, scan the area to gather information, and relay it to him. And when he is close enough, the familiar can just pin you down and call out like a siren so V can easily find you.
Improve = Will they be willing to recover from this psychotic state for their lover?
Working off of E for Enjoy, V can find the conviction to be better for you. The problem is that he does not really know how to be better. He has only existed as his own entity for a relatively short time and has no experience with having a healthy relationship. He has only ever had you and the, sometimes maddening, urges to be with you. But because of his overwhelming love for you and the fear that his actions risk harming you, he will work towards being better.
He has to look to healthier relationships, like Nero and Kyrieâs and what little memories of Sparda and Evaâs he retains from Vergil, to understand what they look like and how he himself is failing. And if he canât make the headway he wishes, being unable to stop himself from telling you subtle lies and trying to monopolize your attention, he will talk to someone about his feelings and urges. He understands that he does not yet really understand how to be human and is not above asking for aid in learning, for his own well-being yes, but mostly for yours.
Justification = Why are they acting like this? When and how did it start?
Upon being created, V knew that he did not have long to live. Soon he would join with Urizen and become Vergil once more. When he first started to fall for you, he knew it would not last due to his minuscule lifespan so would not pursue a romantic relationship. He could not, however, stay away from you. You were like a work of art, so utterly perfect that it was a miracle you even existed in such a cold and cruel world. He tried to accept the brief moments of connection you shared as enough to have him return to Vergil without regrets, but it wasn't enough. It would never be enough.
His body was failing though, crumbling away. Perhaps when he becomes whole again Vergil will be able to be with you. But that would not be the same for you or V, and he knew that.
And then, he found a way to continue living as his own person (See Difference). Now he had a chance to have a life with you. But always lurking in the back of his mind is the fear that this means of sustaining his body and life will fail. He does not know when he will disappear or how quickly it could take him. This is why he needs to always be with you. He doesnât know how much time he has left and he wants to spend as much of it with you as he can. You understand, donât you darling?
Kidnap = Are they willing to kidnap you? If so, how will they do it? For how long will they keep you and where?
He will kidnap you if you make the drastic decision to try to end your own life (see Crazy). He has given you the freedom to do what you want, far more than most yanderes would, despite the dangers in the world because he trusted you and himself to keep you safe. But now that even you are a danger to yourself, that shattered any trust V had.
When he finds out what you were trying to do, whether it be through catching you in the act or finding out in the aftermath of a failed attempt, he will bring you to his home. He will tell you, and anyone else privy to your attempt, that he wanted to give you a safe place where you can be monitored, rest, and offer an ear to which you can discuss your feelings and thoughts without judgment. And with him being your partner, if other people knew of your attempt, they would trust him to watch over you and stop you from trying this again. And that was exactly what he would do.
So you spend the night with V in his home where he refuses to leave your side for more than a minute at a time. It was understandable though, right? He was just shaken from what you tried to do. But when you woke up you found your wrists belted together, as were your ankles, and were chained to the bedâs headboard and one of the bedâs end legs respectively.
âMy love, you are awake.â V greets as he enters the room, a bowl of oatmeal in his hand. âHow wonderful it is to see your beautiful eyes finally open.â You can ask him what is going on, but no matter if you question him in fear, anger, or confusion, he will smile sympathetically as he helps you sit up. âI know this may be a bit frightening my dear, but this is all for your safety. You have somehow come to the heartbreaking and erroneous belief that you should not live and have become a danger to yourself because of it. But worry not, for I love you unconditionally and will care for you in your stead. Now, open up~â He coos as he holds out a spoonful of oatmeal.
V keeps you bound for as long as it takes for him to trust you not to attack him. Still, whenever he leaves the house he chains you to the bed to make sure you donât try anything. Soon enough he stops going out, instead spending every waking moment coddling you. He feeds you by hand, dresses you, bathes you, and loves you through any bout of emotions, be they positive or negative. You donât get to step foot outside until after you are knocked out by drugs and discreetly transferred to a new home out in some forest. Once there he will be willing to take you on walks, if you can prove you can behave. Even if you do try to escape though, the forest is enchanted so any human without a demon guide will be lost to endlessly loop through the same areas.
After years of living like this and proving that you donât intend to leave him or harm yourself, you may just be lucky enough to find out how V was able to keep you locked up and disappear without anyone coming to look for you. You see, your friends and family were devastated when they heard from V that you had killed yourself by running off into a demon nest and letting yourself be eaten. And then it was unfortunate but unsurprising when V, now without the love of his life, spiraled into depression, became a recluse, moved away from the city where he and his love spent their time together, and soon after joined you in the afterlife.
âWhat a tragic tale, isnât it dear?â He asks you with a proud smile on his face as he feeds you your lunch.
Lonely = They are feeling lonely but you are busy with something else, what will they do?
V is a patient man. If you are busy with an activity or responsibility, he will wait patiently for you to finish. He has his limits though (See Non-Stop). Also, depending on how urgently the task must be done or the rules regarding it, V would like to get involved.
âWhat are you doing my songbird? Watching something? May I join you?â âWhat is that craft you are making? How fascinating⌠Would you do me the honour of teaching me how to do it?â âWhat are you so furiously researching love? I would so dearly like to hear all about it, and perhaps I can help you search.â
V wants to learn everything he can about you and be involved with your interests and hobbies. And even if you are doing something that he can not assist in, such as writing a paper for school or work, then he will still insert himself by delivering to you snacks, drinks, messages, or simply his silky voice reading out his poetry to calm you and act as white noise while you focus. As long as it does not harm you or put you in danger, then V wants to support you and uplift you in any way he can.
Moving On = If you die or escape, will they be able to move on? How easy will it be for them?
You are his light, his world, and the number one reason that he fought to stay alive. If you were to leave him, he would be devastated. With you gone so is his will to live, and so he will follow you into the beyond. However, one deciding factor for how he will come to his end is how you met yours. If it was some unforeseen tragedy then he would chase after you into the next world immediately. But if your death was in any way his doing, he would drag out his death. Whether it be through starvation or letting his body deteriorate, whichever was more painful and a fitter punishment for the sins he has committed.
Alternatively, if you were to escape and he could not find you, his will would slowly drain. He would spend more time and energy looking for you and despairing over not being able to find you, he would neglect what he needs to do to stay alive. Slowly his failing body would wither away or, if the option is still available, he may just make a last-ditch effort to become whole again. He knows that death would be an easier option than reforming, but his lingering feelings may unconsciously drive Vergil to keep looking for you and you wouldnât hide from Vergil, right? Knowing you were at least alive would give Vâs broken heart and soul some levity while it rotted away somewhere inside Vergil.
Non-Stop = How clingy will they be when youâre in a relationship? How possessive are they? And how much free space do they give you?
V will give you a great deal more space than most yandereâs. He is fine with you spending time with others, whether he is present or not. He will even allow you to go on multiple-day-long trips, like road trips or vacations, with others. Seeing you happy and hearing you excitedly recount your outings was a joy in it of itself for him. Hearing you talk with exuberance and seeing your radiant smile as you describe the event you attended, the activity you did, and the conversations you had was just enough to make missing you worth it. It also helps that he is an introvert so is more than okay with spending some time for himself.
There is a limit to this though. If you have a job or attend school then he can get by with having you in the morning and evening. He will encourage you and praise you for your hard work before and after each day while enjoying having you all to himself. But if, on top of this, you are going out with friends two or three days a week then heâll get antsy. He wonât get in the way, but he will get a bit needy and clingy, doing things like wanting to walk you to and from places just to spend more time with you and inviting you on more dates and activities to offset how much you go out with others.
But if others try to take up more of your time than that, V will become a lot more proactive. Suddenly you start âforgettingâ your phone in the other room all the time, meaning you miss calls and texts. Your calendar and alarms start messing up more, giving you incorrect times and dates causing you to miss events. V seemingly becomes more worried about your well-being. Do you have a bit of a cough? Feeling warmer than usual? A bit of a headache? Well, then it is best if you stay home. Even if it seems small now, exserting yourself by going out could just make things worse. Besides, the weather report said it might rain. So just rest at home today, V will be there to care for you.
Other = Someone else speaks to or flirts with you, how will they react?
V is usually very confident and trusting of you to not betray him so does not mind when others speak to you. He doesnât blame the person either because you are a truly fascinating person that V canât get enough of, so others wanting to get to know you is only logical. Otherâs flirting with you is usually a similar story, as he trusted you implicitly. But that does not mean he is always complicit. If you or the person give him a reason to worry, such as you seemingly reciprocating that flirtation or the person overstepping boundaries, then V will act.
It wonât be a full-on assault, physically or verbally, it will be a subtle, insidious poison that he seeps into the bothersome person. Through his words he will gracefully belittle and insult the person while showcasing his superior knowledge and sharp wit. Most of his comments donât even immodestly register as insults, instead, they will weigh the person down bit by bit until their confidence is but dust in the wind and they realize that they have no chance in besting V in his control over your heart.
Persistent = You have rejected/ignored their first attempts at gaining your attention. How many more times will they try and how quickly will their actions ramp up in intensity?
Before discovering a means of sustaining himself, he will see your rejection or obliviousness to his signs of affection as signs and reminders to not pursue you as it will only end in heartbreak. However, if, after proving to himself that he can indeed survive his once-set expiration date and he confesses to you (See Difference), you somehow misunderstand his confession, perhaps as some kind of bout of manic joy from being able to extend his life, then he will take time to calm down so you know he is being serious and tell you honestly and blatantly. He has already waited for so long, suppressing the calling of his heart and soul, and he will not waste another moment of his life not cherishing and worshiping you as you so deserve.
Questioned = How do they react if someone catches on to their odd behaviour and questions them?
V is calm, composed, levelheaded, and a master at manipulation and the ways of the English language. If someone starts questioning his actions then he can easily lead, twist, loop, and end the conversation like a conductor to an orchestra with the other speaker left satisfied and a bit confused on the topic and point of the conversation.
Risk = How risky will they be with getting rid of rivals?
V has no intention of killing anyone. He loves you and, though you may not see it now, he knows you love him too. But if he really feels the need to dispose of someone, he has to be careful. Not so much because he fears the police or the friends and family of the victim. They could easily be tricked and manipulated into cooperating. It was his own family and friends that posed a problem. Dante, Nero, Kyrie, they would never understand. They donât understand how deep his love is for you. If they found out he killed someone to protect his relationship with you, they would try to intervene or, worst of all, try to get you away from him. V canât risk that.
So he carefully plans out his assassination. He canât use his familiars because there is a chance that as soon as the police/family realize the murder was done by a demon they may call Lady or Danteâs businesses for help and they can spot Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmareâs work easily. And a physical altercation, even with the aid of weapons, would cause too much of a scene. So instead, V will kill with discreet methods, such as poison, or a disposable method, such as forming a contract with a demon, sending them out on their elimination mission, and then killing the new demon familiar so it could not be traced back to V.
Sweet = Even when theyâre Yandere they can be sweet. Whatâs their sweet Yandere side?
You are his world, his everything, and he will tell you that often. Every day he tells you and shows you how much he appreciates you and all you do, for him and others. Being able to wake up beside you, spend time with you, and hold you at night is a blessing that he will always cherish, no matter how long you are together.
Type = What type of Yandere are they?
Going off of the Yandere Fandom Wikiâs list, V would mostly be a Manipulative Yandere (Focuses on working a series of situations to prevent losing their love.) with a bit of a Submissive Yandere (Only in love with one specific person and will carry out any task asked of them.).
V has a way with words and with his ability to stay calm and collected no matter the intricate lies he is weaving, he will subtly manipulate you into things like spending more time with him and fending off anyone who seriously threatens your relationship (See Other). He wonât just have you wrapped around his finger, as he will also make others question themselves or change their mind through his poetic, complex, cryptic wording. This can range from telling your family and friends that they should not make you go to some even, claiming things like how tired and stressed you are when in reality he just wants more time alone with you, to even beneficial things like convincing your teachers or boss to treat you better because you are such an amazing student/worker.
There is also little he wouldnât do for you. He will of course do small things if you ask like taking you to and from appointments no matter the ungodly hour it is happening and taking you on dates to all the places you are interested in. But he will do so much more if only you ask it of him. For example, if you come to him for help, telling him about some person or group that is hurting you somehow, either directly or through association, and ask him to get rid of them, he will.
Unsure = How much trust do they have in you? What happens if you break it?
V trusts you a great deal, more than most yandere. Even when you make small mistakes he will quickly forgive you and assure you that he understands that you are doing your best and donât truly mean any harm. If you do something drastic though, that is different. There is what will happen if you try to hurt yourself (See Kidnapping), but if you do something like cheat on him he will be devastated. He will blame himself for the most part, assuming he has failed to provide you with the love and affection you desire and is determined to be better. He will follow you without being too pushy, not quite a stalker but he will reappear in your life every couple of weeks to try to win your heart back. And between each meeting, he would work on improving himself in any way he thinks he is failing you, from physical to social to financial. At times he may even consider leaving you be, letting you go free, but he canât help but be drawn to you. In the end, he would rather give up on life rather than give up on you.
Vexation = What is the one thing that you could do to piss them off or worry them the most?
V does not really get angry, being levelheaded enough to stay calm and give you and himself some space if he is getting frustrated. As for worrying him, the thing that will unsettle and worry him the most is if you suddenly, without plausible reason, start claiming that you love him and saying overly sweet things. If you were to say âI love youâ without complete sincerity he would see it as the complete opposite. You must be upset and/or unhappy in some way. Though he does not want to pry, if you keep forcing words of affection out it will eat away at him until he pleads for you to stop and instead tell him what it is that is driving you to hurt him like this.
Welcome = Letâs say theyâre Yandere for you but youâve not had your first meeting. How do they initiate it?
If you two have not officially met but you have caught Vâs eye, he will avoid approaching you due to the belief that he will return to Vergil soon. He does not wish to hurt you by charming you and then disappearing, though that does have a romantic air to it. So perhaps he will allow himself to be seen once or twice if the situation requires. For example, if you are attacked by demons he will jump in to save you, maybe take a moment to let his mysterious and alluring aura seep in before disappearing like a masked hero, never truly known but leaving a sense of mysticism. At least this way, when the being known as V does disappear from this world, he will live on in you to a small extent.
If/when he knows that he can prolong his life, he will search for you right away. Heâll want to keep up his dark, mysterious, romantic aura as much as possible to make a good impression. This includes not giving you all the answers right away, slipping into the shadows and reappearing for the first few meets, and not letting you meet the blabbermouth Griffon or the horrific Nightmare, at least not at first. Shadow you may meet because he trusts her to not ruin the moment and may even add to his allure as he has a powerful jungle cat at his whim.
He has read countless poems and stories of romance, and he will use that to his advantage to make your introduction to him as perfect as possible.
Xeric = What is an innocuous thing you do that hits a nerve in their twisted mind and really turns them on?
Whether it is done casually during a time when you are relaxing and holding each other or if he is in the middle of something and your wandering mind leads you to do it, having you lightly trace the patterns of his tattoos sets his body and heart on fire faster then he is able to ask you why you are doing it. Having your fingers delicately glide along his skin has him twisting, arching, and bending into your touch, trembling slightly as soft gasps that sometimes sound more like moans, slip from his lips.
Yearning = They want you but you are already with someone else. How will they win you over/steal you from your current partner?
V will not even try. He is already hesitant to get close to you with his mission of becoming Vergil again. You being in a happy relationship with another offers him a melancholy peace as he knows that once he is gone you will be taken care of. In this circumstance, he will not even bother looking for a way to extend his life and simply complete the task he was created to do.
Zealot = If everything fails, will they be able to kill their partner? For the most part, no. Even if you fight, run, reject, and abandon him over and over he will never be pushed to kill you. The only circumstance in which he would take your life is if you have been irreparably damaged, physically or mentally. If, because of a demon attack, the cruelty of the world infecting you with an incurable disease, or you have lost your mind, if your life is nothing but suffering, he will mercy kill you. And he would follow you soon after, to be able to hold you in the afterlife and watch you be free of this pain.
