Mashed up some roses with salt and rain water and then added a bit of vodka for preservation to make a rose potion! Fantastic for spells involving any type of love, sex, and can even make a great offering to deities that are associated with roses!

please remember!
your relationship with your Gods is your own. it is deeply personal. please do not allow anyone to tell you what you Should and Shouldn’t be doing while practicing with and worshiping the Gods! if they are pleased, you will know. if they are not, you will know. everyone’s practice, worship and relationship looks different. yours isn’t any less valid just because you don’t have the perfect altar, or the most expensive offerings, or the most time spent with your God(s). it is not a competition <3 the Gods care for us all, regardless of how our worship looks.

know many people use music in their worship! playing songs that remind them of their dieties, what they think their dieties would like, etc. i’ve found that with my practice with our blessed Lady Aphrodite, i find random songs calling out to me. nothing i’d typically associate with her. she gives me these songs because she knows it’ll be what i need to hear during my devotional work with her, whether that’s lyrics or just general vibe. she is so thoughtful of me, always wanting the best for me. the most random song she’s told me to listen to so far is All Apologies by Nirvana, but somehow it really fit the theme of the night! thank you, Lady Aphrodite! maybe some of you could try using this kind of thing in your practice!

interesting Lady Aphrodite facts!
- she is also the goddess of ports, and port towns!
- many ancient artworks of her, depicted her with traditionally male features, like beards, along with traditionally female features. she has long been associated with gender ambiguity and sexual fluidity.
- she was revered during times of politics.
- seashells are not only offered to Lady Aphrodite due to her associations with the ocean, but also due to seashells’ likeness to the biological female genitals.
- a statue of Lady Aphrodite was the first ever fully sized, fully naked, female form stone sculpture to be created. this image is a recreation of said statue, made from marble, during the roman era.
Tumblr media
- traditionally, Lady Aphrodite was depicted wearing clothes. it wasn’t really until the roman era that this changed, and most artworks began depicting her naked.
- julius ceasar was very fond of the roman version of Aphrodite (Venus), and a lot of roman artworks depicted her wearing armour, or armed with weapons.
- opiates were once associated with Lady Aphrodite. Many people offered her Opiates, or did Opiates in her honor. opium-burners were often found at her shrines in ancient times.
- she is also associated with lotus flowers!

HERMES
Hear me Hermes, the messenger son of Maia! Who has the heart that rules all, protector of games, ruler of mortals, benevolent, wily one, guide, slayer of Árgos. Of winged shoes, friend of mankind, prophet of the word for mortals, Who delights in gyms and cunning deceptions. Interpreter of all things, to merchants you procure gains, dissolve worries. Who holds in your hands the perfect weapon of peace. Coricius, blessed, swift, skilled rhetorician, protector in works, friend to mortals in needs, terrible weapon in tongue, reverence for mankind. Hear me praying, granting a good fulfillment of life in works, in graces of speech and memories.

I love seeing prayers and stories of devotees who worship Gods that I don’t worship.
Actually, I’ve always been like this.
I love hearing the tales of religions that I don’t subscribe to. Even if I don’t agree with every Christian, I do enjoy hearing Christians talk about how wonderful Jesus is and what he means to them personally.
I enjoy hearing Muslims talk about their prayers, how they reserve time out of their day for their God.
I enjoy hearing Jews sing their psalms, I love hearing about how they prepare their food, how they consider God’s hands in their meals.
I love hearing about Hellenic rituals and Semetic celebrations. I love learning about the different holy days among different groups of pagans.
I love learning how different people have incorporated different Gods, acts, and customs into their faith. I love hearing about their myths and legends, the stories they tell their children before bed.
I love hearing about the different ways that humanity has connected to their personal idea of God.
I don’t worship Apollon or Shiva today, but I am so delighted to hear the prayers of those that do. It’s like I’m getting to feel the mist erupting off of a waterfall. Or hearing the echo of a song that I do not know the lyrics to, but I can still hum the melody. I can feel the notes permeate my mind, even if I don’t know what they mean.
I love that there are people who worship these Gods that I do not worship. I’m happy that there is so much diversity among humanity that we have enough love in us for all of them.
For the ones that even I don’t know the names of, or felt the warmth of. Someone has.
That’s a very very good thing.

i love using picrew for my e-offerings because of all the customization options (and sometimes i'll use the same picrew several months apart to see how my offerings/associations for a certain deity might change over time)! here are some of my faves:
people/character picrews
TOON ME! by hellosunnycore — full body, has 2 body type options (other body type is linked in picrew's description), LOTS of customizations
Adventurer Avatar by anjubatus — full body, fantasy, fun props/setting options
sushicore! by alohasushicore — bust-up, i rly like the hair options in this for some reason??
Bright's Picrew Hell by brightgoat — bust-up, the accESSORIES IN THIS!!!!!!, fun background options :>
Androgynous picrew! by oldmaker — chest-up, again - the ACCESSORIES (and lots of animal/pet options!!)
objects/food
Fuzzy worm maker by Vian13 — i mean why NOT make a custom worm on a string for your deities?
Sword Creator by iienex — it's all in the title, love this one so much the options are all so pretty!
お弁当メーカー by obentomaker — customized bento! perfect for when you want to give food offerings but can't give physical food
식사 픽크루 by 맥 — similar to above, but this time it's a plate of food!
locations/environments (typically use these to make digital altar spaces!)
Altar Sketch by Camade — really made to be a sacred space, deity/spirit altar/etc! love this one A LOT
テラリウムメーカー by 庭猫もる — fishbowl/terrarium-type environments (but more whimsical since it isn't confined to what you could realistically put in a fisbowl lol)

why some gods are more commonly worshiped than others
So, we all know that some deities are much more commonly worked with and worshiped than others, and most of us have our own ideas as to why. I think there’s a multitude of reasons, including the unsavory myths surrounding them, cultural bias, and lack of pop culture fame. However, the factor I want to talk about in this post is this: a lot of the less popular deities are deities with less obvious/direct impacts on our lives.
I’m going to go through each of the 12 Olympians (plus Hestia) and explain how I believe this impacts our view of them and how we can recognize and get closer to them in our everyday lives. I’m only doing the 12 Olympians because I am most familiar with the Hellenic pantheon and if I did every single deity in this post, it would take a million years. I might do other deities in the future if anyone is interested or I feel called to.
