it’s so easy to forget how disgraceful it was to ship dsmp characters back in the day. like even mention the possibility of cbeeduo being /rom and ur crucified. if u suggested that ctntduo had romantic and sexual tension then u were CANCELLED and deemed a WEIRDO. cpuffychu was just girls being besties and they totally don’t kiss eachother on the lips and ✂️. EVERYONE IS JUST PLATONIC NO GAY ROMANCE HERE

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Review. More like Rambling and Word Vomiting.
I saw it last night. Finally. After so long!
Tumblr media
I personally thought it was good, and a solid addition to the POTA franchise. I don't think it's better than Dawn or War, but I'm willing to bet that by the time the full trilogy is out, Kingdom is gonna be looked back upon as a good beginning to Noa and Mae's story, the same way Rise, despite being most people's least favorite of the Caesar trilogy, is still an amazing intro to Caesar's story.
Some nitpicks. Despite the movie being 2.5 hours long, I felt like the final act came too fast? Like, I understand what people meant with the pacing issue. Suddenly we were in the 3rd act and I was like "Wait, we're here? It's done?"
Now, onto the characters! Let the fangirling commence!
Noa
I loved seeing how his journey and character started and where he ends by the end of the movie.
Tumblr media
Him going from "That is the law" to "That is the law. But the law is wrong" was so satisfying.
And him being able to call the eagles to him by the end was great to see. By the way, THE SINGING SCENE WITH THE EAGLES???? LIKE???? It could've been so corny but I LOVED IT???
I'm so glad this movie answered the question of whether apes can sing. Yeah, I know they are only humming, but I'LL TAKE IT. APES CAN SING. YESSSS!
He was just a really nice character to follow. I can't wait to see how he'll be like in the next movie after the events of this one transformed him.
I also think he is the kind of protagonist we need after Caesar. I love Caesar, but Noa is....hmm, I guess you could say softer? More naive? I'm sure he'll get tougher as the movies progress like Caesar did, but I like this change.
Mae
I am a Mae defender. Yes, she did betray Noa in the end. I expected her to tbh. And I understand why she did it. She was right in that Proximus getting his hands on those weapons would've been disastrous.
Tumblr media
She has probably been taught all her life nothing but bad things about the apes. She was not going to switch sides just because she met Noa. We still got two whole movies after this. She probably won't have her "redemption" until the 3rd movie. I can honestly go on rambling about her, but I'd rather save that for another separate post.
Raka
I really like him. He's great and funny. I love seeing how he talks about humans and his hopes for humans and apes.
Tumblr media
Right before he dies, he reminds Noa "Together, strong." His final words and his necklace as a gift to Noa serve as a reminder. A reminder of a hopeful future where apes and humans can coexist. (And then Noa passing along that same necklace to Mae? Bringing a reminder of that hope for peace into her world? Ugh. So good.)
Also, "He was my village." LIKE. DID HE LOSE HIS PARTNER? MY HEART.
Proximus
Tumblr media
I thought he was cool. He gave my mother and I a jump scare at the dinner scene where he slams his fist. Also, the way he was just in awe of the gun after Lightning dies. He has his priorities.
Soona and Anaya
Those two were so cute, and I loved their friendship with Noa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anaya broke my heart. In the beginning at the tunnel scene, he's all like "Anaya is not scared." But at Proximus's kingdom, he looks terrified at the dinner scene, and before he goes on the mission to climb the wall, he goes "Anaya is scared" and didn't want to go. Poor guy. He pulled through in the end though.
Although *puts on tinfoil hat* this makes me wonder if this foreshadows how his fear will lead him to make a big mistake in the future movies. Similar to what happened with Winter.
Soona was so sweet. Although I'm disappointed we didn't get more of her with Noa. I saw an interview where Soona's actress described a moment where after they are reunited, they kind of make known their feelings for each other or something like that. But...it didn't happen?
Mae and Noa
Alrighty, I'm gonna briefly put on my shipping goggles on, bear with me, because one has to be a teensy bit delusional for this type of stuff, BUT....
Tumblr media
I sensed a....vibe? Not a romantic vibe. They are nowhere close to that yet. But I felt like there were tropes and scenes between them that simply imply a romantic path is a possible direction for their relationship. I will make a separate post about them. I wanna wrap this up, lol.
The ending
I liked the ending. It has me so excited for the future of this trilogy. Now that the humans are able to communicate with others, what will this mean? How will Mae be torn between her people and the apes? Same with Noa? I need to know naooooo
8.5/10 stars (I ain't done rambling about this movie yet. But it's my birthday, and I gotta go out and have some dinner, hehe).

Fierce x Silt would be an ABSOLUTE POWER COUPLE and you are welcome to ship them all you want (as always) but in cannon Fiercestripe would never, even for a moment, consider taking another mate. If Wildfirecry dies before her she will wait that shit out cause she's not single, her husband is just in starclan. I honestly think that even without Wildfirecry in the picture she's just too much of a caretaker/mom friend to ever be in a relationship with someone younger than her. Fiercestripe needs her mate to be the one person in her life that she is not worried about if that makes sense? She'll help find Silt a nice new boyfriend who is not 48 moons older than her and they can be crochety grandparents in the elder's den together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No. <3
Tumblr media
Thank you! And do not be sorry because YES! You're so right! She's seeing herself in the stars and so she doesn't look any farther into it but it's just an image she's projecting, not something someone is showing her. She also doesn't put any thought into the fact that in order to walk amongst the stars she would have to pass away so, she's literally seeing a future where she dies due to her own inflated self image and it just inflates her self image more. It's a self fulfilling prophecy and it makes me love her and her story so much!
Tumblr media
It was not intentional as I haven't watched centaurworld, but upon listening to it I see what you mean! It definitely fits in with what I was trying to reference, which are those kinda ominous lullabies (hush a bye baby was the specific one that came to mind while drawing), but to be honest with you it's a relatively minor detail in the overall comic. What the character is saying is a lot less important than what the character is about to do so i didn't put a ton of thought into it.
Tumblr media
Thank you! I am also shocked by how little time has passed in story like what do you mean we aren't even at two years yet? Eklutna wasn't even here for a moon? How is that possible?! I know that Moon 21 brought and is still bringing a LOT of people to the blog and I am so grateful for that! Loudclan gained like 200 followers over my break and that's AWESOME but also a little bit terrifying tbh. Don't worry I also got attached to Mothtree and I was like lying in bed thinking about the fact that she dies for like three whole months while I and everyone else drew cute art of her.
Tumblr media
Thank you! I'm so happy to be at a point where I'm happy with my art and my process and that has a lot to do with all the support I've gotten from you guys! You're an awesome community who has encouraged my growth at every opportunity and I couldn't be luckier! All that said I hope you get to enjoy a minor version of the same process all over again as I get back in the routine of drawing cats again after my break lol.
Tumblr media
I mean... they are kinda yellow... could that mean... PACKMAN IS THE BABYDADDY?!?!?!
Tumblr media
I did really enjoy my break! I got to go to Greece and Germany with some of my best friends and then I came home and cracked down on school work (which wasn't necessarily fun, but feels good to be done with), and now I am rested and relaxed and ready to get back into it!
Tumblr media
Thank you! I try to put a lot of thought into them! Things like that are generally the first thing that I envision when I'm formulating a comic page and then I build the rest of it around that original idea which I hope helps to make the pages more dynamic and less repetitive.
Tumblr media
Thank you, I can't wait to finally drop Part 2! Only 5 more days!

Thinking about my one SG au where:
Ultra Magnus is/was in charge
Optimus is/was aiming to dethrone Ultra Magnus
Megatron is an exminer (but no gladiator era) who gained a following through his writings and his eventual connections through other notable decepticons
Optimus does eventually overthrow Ultra Magnus after obtaining the Matrix
Sentinel Magnus was the Magnus before Ultra Magnus, he's in a situation like bayverse Sentinel (should I Shatter him too or make him worse? I'm tempted to make him worse) and I feel like he'll be found in stasis somewhere in a trashed ship. I feel like it won't go well, I want to make him v similar to bayverse Sentinel tbh and have him betray both the autobots and decepticons
Cybertron gets pretty trashed, but it'll be rebuilt eventually— bit by hit
Cybertron sucked ass before the war, as you might've guessed
MEGATRONUS PRIME BEING FOUND LIKE BAYVERSE BUT HE'S 100% SHATTERED AND HE'S A GUIDING FORCE FOR A WHILE!!
I feel like the decepticon base on earth in this au is either under the ocean like in g1 (iicr?) or in the middle of the fucking desert somewhere.
Groundbridges are a thing, as are spacebridges but those are generally massive and in space
Outliers aren't a thing. No Skywarp teleporting, no Sunstorm radiation, no immortal spark Starscream, no telepath Soundwave, nothing.
The decepticons existed for a short while before the war
Just about everyone has their canon colors / a mix of their canon colors
Starscream was ex-military before getting into the decepticons and being thrown into the war
Shockwave was a minor and obscure scientist before the war, gradually gaining skill and rank throughout it
I'm torn on Soundwave because on one hand I liked showhost!Soundwave in SG IDW, but I liked how Megatron just kinda found him in IDW, buuut I also really like the idea of going with a TFP influence in his backstory and making him a former gladiator.
At some point or another Bumblebee has an arc of his own, not sure how but I just think there should be
I think I mentioned it before but the constructicons are medics
VERY torn on whether Megatron should have a fusion cannon or no.
Energon is blue here
I'm torn on how to introduce the human buddies into this and how they'd act but I definitely want Mikaela and Sam in on this (I'd love to see how they're characterized in a more series like setting rather than a movie one)
Elita is a major general and I vaguely feel like she deserves her person chair like she gets in IDW.
Actually Rodimus gets his Lost Light colors because I say so. He's either one of the wreckers or Optimus's eventual successor (or both?) (I'm not sure where to place Rodimus during the war, but I like his SG personality)
Torn on Deadlock never defecting or him becoming an autobot wrecker somehow. Because on one hand, angst. On the other hand, I like his Deadlock design and the idea of him staying moderately loyal to a SG Megatron makes sense in SG. Hgghhh but SG driftrod. I don't know, I like both options.
Ratchet is still terrifying like he is in SG IDW
Most of the designs are like if you drew the IDW designs in the TFA style, in my mind
Mnemosurgery is a thing because it's so horrifying I love it I hate it I love it
Galvatron =/= Megatron and he's such an example of "but what if [character] was good but also still himself". He's still got Cyclonus and Scourge at his side.
The sg dinobots are terrifying
Shockwave makes the Predacons (Predaking, Skylynx, Darksteel, possibly a few more?) and they're almost a reflection to the dinobots. Because Predaking v Grimlock would be so fucking cool.
Wheeljack is terrifying this time
Jazz and Prowl are evil husbands
There's not as many characters on earth as in g1, but there's certainly more than in say tfp or tfa (... How many mecha are on earth in g1 again?)
There are characters who are on other planets fighting the war

ROUND 1A, MATCH 1 OUT OF 16!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Includes the original 1950 animated film, the 2002 sequel Cinderella II: Dreams Come True, and the 2007 sequel Cinderella III: A Twist in Time.
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Animated:
she is very iconic, she is super kind and has a beautiful dress
Submitting specifically because Cinderella III: A Twist in Time has lived rent-free in my head ever since I was a small child.
This Cinderella is most young (western) peoples introduction to this very story. Cinderella is so hopeful and by getting one small magical adventure, her whole life changes for the better. She is skilled and inspires such loyalty with her kindness that it’s hard to dislike her for any reason she gives. I’ve always been jealous of her ball hairdo too.
Walt Disney put all he had into this movie. And his favorite animation was the dress transformation scene. There’s a reason she is often front and center on the Princess group promotions.
she is the original. to me. probably the first exposure to cinderella for a solid chunk of people alive & on tumblr today. she is just a perfect encapsulation of everything that cinderella is, even if she's become warped in the public consciousness. also i'm pretty sure she's the reason why the glass slippers are so predominant in more recent retellings bc she is simply so iconic. 100/10 no notes 💜
She's maybe not the OG OG but she was one of the first animated Disney princesses and strangely enough it doesn't stop her from having an amazing personality. She's literally a slave but keeps being a nice person, forgiving and always doing her best. And the sequels absolutely didn't ruin her character. She's a sweet girl who tries to fit in but who's loyal to the person she is and who tries to change things always in a cute and sweet way to show people it's not that hard. She literally forgave Anastasia and tried to help her after all she did to her (the scene where the step-sisters destroy her dress still is terrifying to me)... she's awesome and deserves more recognition honestly...
(Mod's note: the following submitted specifically for Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, but I condensed the animated movies into one entry.) No she is not the same as the original Cinderella of 1950. This girl’s biggest chance was unfairly snatched away from her. When the Prince was brainwashed she was enough to get him to double take. She was so Right that their connection over powered magic. And she had to be rescued from a ship. And was almost crushed within a pumpkin! And finally had to expose another imposter, who turned out to be just another victim of Lady Trameine. This Cinderella fought harder for her love because she knew what True Love was like and she still was able to forgive those who asked for it.
(Mod's note: the following submitted specifically for Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, but I condensed the animated movies into one entry.) Listen yes it's the same Cinderella from 1950 but she has an arc in this one! It's Disney's greatest film!!
Live-Action Remake:
Of all the live action remakes of the past decade this one is my favorite. Somehow it keeps the essence of the 1950 story but makes it today relevant. Ella really does live her life by having courage and being kind. The mice and birds might not speak but she (and we) still understand. She didn’t want to go to the ball for any grand reason besides being able to see a friend. That blue dress was so beautiful! And the butterflies! Ella and Kit matched so well together the Princess, King, and Captain of the Guard all Knew. And that wedding dress!
Plus Ella forgave her stepfamily. That is something that take such great strength of character and kindness of heart.
Tbh I've never seen the movie but I was a young impressionable child (7 years old) when it came out and. There was an ad in a paper or something and I thought she was really pretty so I cut out and hung it on the wall. It stayed up for. Many years. This was likely the first sign that I was gay.

Reasons I Dislike The Obi-Wan Series
So I've seen an influx of Tumblr posts saying that people who don't like the OWK series or critic it a lot are just delusional, Star Wars haters, weirdos or better yet 'cis het white men with no life and can't let other people enjoy the content' .
I'm not gonna lie and say that there really aren't those type of people in the fandom but considering most of us who express our criticism of the series 'jobless whites' is a stretch too far. And as a brown woman who's a non-star wars hater and currently with a job (😅), I'd like to critic the show and give a few reasons as to why I dislike the show.
As people who follow me (NOT YOU, P*RNBOTS!) might know, I'm a huge Obi-Wan Kenobi fan. I have been since I've read John Miller's Kenobi (if you guys haven't read it, then please do. It's really good!). I love the prequels Obi-Wan, but the novel really kinda made me go insane about Obi-Wan- his strength, his compassion, his will power, his suffering, his loneliness...... And for every thing he's been through, he's always firmly stayed on the light side. He's a dedicated, hardworking jedi who has sacrificed and served unconditionally; to the order and the republic and to Anakin (yeah no, you can't convince me otherwise).
So imagine my happiness when the first trailer of the series came out. I was SOOOOO excited! I loved the trailer. The hopelessness when Obi-Wan says 'The fight is done. We lost. Stay hidden', the tension in Obi-Wan's and Owen's interaction and the terrifying ominousness of Vader's breathing (I think that's when the whole Star Wars fandom just exploded)
But alas, after the series ended, my view on the series had done a total 180°. It wasn't the worst show I've seen but the plot conveniences, the plot itself, the OOC-ness of some of the characters and the multiple times they broke canon to have the "epic" final fight between Vader and Obi-Wan aren't really unnoticeable or forgivable. Some moments and issues stuck out of the show like a sore thumb and made the whole viewing experience a bit terrible tbh.
Here's a few of the many that i just can't help but mentally scowl about:
Why does Obi-Wan leave Vader to live? After hearing from Vader's own mouth that his beloved former padawan no longer exists. That he was "killed" by Vader. At this point, Obi-Wan knew that Vader had committed heinous crimes, murdered children and innocents, one instant of which Obi-Wan was a witness to in Mapuzo and that he's powerful sith apprentice and a lap dog of the Emporer. Vader was weak and Obi-Wan had the opportunity to kill him, save the galaxy, especially the rebels. Weaken the empire's forces and take the emperor down to free the galaxy..... So WHY THE FUCK did he not kill him? For the safety of the rebels, the Skywalker children, the goddamn galaxy! But he just.... said 'Goodbye Darth' and left like a coward. #Not_my_ObiWan
Why did Vader not command the inquisitors in the Star Destroyer to go after the rebels when he went after Obi-Wan? I know that Vader "killed" Anakin but I'm pretty sure he hasn't killed his intelligence and I'm also pretty sure that the emperor wouldn't let a fool command his fleet. And moreover, Vader is known for his fierce determination and horrific strategies that would lead to his victory no matter the cost. So WHY, OH WHY did he shut down the third brother when he tried to suggest that they follow the rebel ship? Vader had his own ship and i know for a fact that the star destroyer carries many tie-fighters.... Uggghhhh, moving to the next point!
Why did Reva go off to kill Luke? Like what was her point? 'Anakin killed my kid friends so I'm gonna kill the kid who's probably associated to him'. Really??? All she hears from the comm is Owen-Luke-Tattooine and somehow she pieces it together that Luke is Vader's son? This is more embarrassing if you think that she made no connection to Anakin from Luke at all and just went about trying to kill a kid cuz she heard an idiotic man on the comm trying to reach Obi-Wan.
Bringing me to the fact that Bail Organa is fucking idiot. Not only does he not give a fuck about endagering Obi-Wan and Luke by showing up at Obi-Wan's cave UNNANNOINCED, to ask ONLY Obi-Wan's help to rescue Leia but he does that after Obi-Wan refuses to the first time. Bruh.... There are many people capable of rescuing a kid from silly thugs who struggle to catch a 10 year old when they give a "chase". That includes guess what?Ding Ding Ding.... Bounty Hunters. Ding Ding Ding.... the rebels! Ding Ding Ding.... the other Jedi who aren't protecting Luke.... But nah, he just shows up at Obi-Wan's and forces Obi-Wan to concede cuz "Only they know how important Leia is"..... *deep sigh*. Intricacies aside, it wasn't at all convincing to me why it should be Obi-Wan who rescues Leia rather than anybody else.
The last is the fact that the whole story was about Leia and Obi-Wan, rather than it being about Obi-Wan on Tattooine protecting Luke in a discrete fashion. Now, don't misunderstand, I love Leia. And I love the little girl who played her really well. But think about it. When Obi-Wan decided to become 'one with the force', why was Luke who barely knew Obi-Wan the only one to feel the anguish at his death? If Leia already knew Obi-Wan and connected with him so much during this whole ordeal, why didn't she react at all at this moment? Why didn't she say anything after, in the entire trilogy??? It doesn't make any sense! Also, I feel that it was a missed opportunity by making the story about Leia, when it should've been about Obi-Wan's life in Tattooine. How he was suffering from trauma after ORDER 66. How he still had to push himself to wake up every day, because he had taken the responsibility to look after Luke. How he overcame all tribulations that he faced with his past and his new life in Tattooine. How he finds hope again, with Luke and with new people that he meets. Instead the story that we get is just....meh.
And here's a few more that made me cringe when I rewatched the show
- The whole chase scene where 4 thugs try to catch a 10 year old who slips by them with ease, while they are coming from different directions.
- Making what should've been an epic scene where Obi-Wan fires up his saber after 10 long years into a pathetic one. (Like, I know he was scared, but then what was the point of him lighting up his saber for the first time after so many years when the moment was just made to look dull and unappealing.)
- Again, Obi-Wan himself not being able to get hold of Leia when she was mostly in his fingers' grasp the whole sequence, in another pitiful attempt of a chase scene.
- Leia asking if he was her father and his reply being 'I wish I was'? My brother in Christ, f*cking elaborate that you mean that 'Any father would be lucky to have you as a daughter'. Cuz it comes off as 'I wish I was the one who fucked Padme'🤐
- Roken saying he can't help Obi-Wan, then immediately agrees to help him.
- Tala just leaving a 10 year old to rescue a grown ass Jedi, only for Leia to get captured by Reva.
- Vader just letting Obi-Wan go after he dragged him through fire, Tala Tala and the robot "rescue" him.
- Reva not sensing that the kid is force sensitive when she's trying to mind-read Leia and gets nothing.
- Vader not sensing that there are no life forms in the ship he's stopping from escaping and ignoring the ship full of rebels and Obi-Wan right beside it.
- People not dying when they get stabbed by a goddamn lightsaber. (Although I don't exactly blame the series alone for this as its a reccuring theme in Star Wars)
- Obi-Wan making a deal with Reva then completely betraying her, even after finding out that she was a Jedi Youngling. #NOT_MY_OBIWAN
- Obi-Wan coming out to face Vader in episode 3, then proceeds to run away like a scaried little coward. I'm sry, I know that he's scared to face the kid he loved and that he's not at all strong as he was once. But there must be a reason as to why he tells Tala to take Leia to safety, right? Because he's willing to distract Vader while Leia gets away, right? So he must have some plan or a strategy (however reckless or useless it is) to draw Vader's attention away from Leia, right? So WTF was he doing running away like a chicken? #NOT_MY_OBIWAN!!!!!
- Beru doesn't wanna out other people's life in danger when she learns that Reva is after Luke. So she says she and Owen are enough to defend the house. But dear, oh dear, they decide to keep Luke in the house knowing that he was in danger??? They could've arranged for something, to keep Luke safe. But nope! Ha ha! That's exactly what they don't do.... 😒
Some of the things I THINK (subjective) should've have been included in the series-
Exploration of Obi-Wan's life in Tattooine (they do show it, but they don't go in depth)
Luke's childhood
Obi-Wan protecting Luke without Luke even realizing what is going on or who the man is (Badass Obi-Wan in hand-to-hand fights and using his wit rather than the force or his lightsaber to kick ass!)
More arguments between Owen and Obi-Wan about Luke
People trying to pry into Obi-Wan's secluded life and trying to include him in shit he doesn't wanna involve himself in (This could've been really funny, lol!)
Obi-Wan finding out about Vader but not actually facing him at all (We could've seen how this information actually completely breaks him. But at the same time, this increases his responsibility towards protecting Luke)
Some snippets from the Kenobi novel like how others feel and think about Obi-Wan
Flashbacks from the Clone Wars era where Obi-Wan and Anakin fight side by side, protecting and being there for each other. And Obi-Wan in that armor 🥵(No!!!!! Why wasn't this there!???)
The writers wanted to subvert our expectations, so they made the story to be about Leia and Obi-Wan, rather than about Obi-Wan, Luke and Tattooine. I'm not a fan of this, but i understand if many people liked it. Vader could've been shown to be terrifying and evil outside the plot. But the writers didn't bother showing anything else about him other than his obsession with Obi-Wan. They could've expanded on Vader and Reva's stories to go in depth about Reva's motivations and her hatred towards Obi-Wan and Vader.
It's not just the writing that's the problem here. The cinematography also sucks. Why are most of the places the characters go to so damn bland and lifeless (metaphorically)? The duels between Obi-Wan and Vader were made to be a dull affair because there was nothing environmentally to influence the fight scenes. Compare both the duels with the Mustafar one. That one was dynamic, bright, engaging and a spectacle tbh. While the fights in this show looked literally dull.
Coming to the fights itself.... Deborah Chow cannot film any to save her life. She's done well with the other scenes, but when it comes to action sequences, they were horrendously done. The shaky cams, their weird moment around the characters, the not-so-great fight choreography, the dull environment and the borderline OOC-ness of the characters fighting. (Be honest. Do you really think Obi-Wan would start throwing rocks at his former padawan with a smirk on his face? As if to show his power over him. Cuz Obi-Wan doesn't care about power. He cares about saving people!)
So yeah, I didn't like the show at all. Even if I consider it a standalone one, it would still be bad. Most of you might say I'm nitpicking, but we all have different boundaries and limits.
That doesn't mean I'm not open to different perspectives and that I'm shitting on your opinion. If you loved the show, you loved it and I respect that. So don't hesitate to comment your opinions on this post.
My NEW rating for the show- 5.5/10

I love essays, thank you for responding! Some of my own (wlw) mutuals have been rting/reblogging ship stuff for them, like it’s their token “good hetero ship” and I just…. :(
I’ve also seen a number of ppl refuse to acknowledge that Furina and Focalors are the same person. Like, that’s one bitch. Not recognizing that Focalors is Furina’s divinity (now laid to rest) is such a disservice to her character imho. Like, immortality as a kind of “youth” that dies when you finally breach adulthood is what I keep thinking about, among other things. Atp, with Focalors gone, all her memories independent of Furina (I assume this is because of the curse, and a final note of kindness from Focalors so that her humanity doesn’t have to process 2 sets of memories at once. Though the latter is a head canon I guess), Furina and Neuvillette are so horrifically incompatible with each other.
Even IF they didn’t look like father and daughter and even IF the mental age difference wasn’t terrifying… Furina has so much of the world left to learn. She’s still the same person and yet she’s different, that transition is traumatic actually! Not to mention the literal trauma of having the lives of ALL your kin in the palm of your hand that you mentioned.
As for her sq, I thought I was pretty clear that one of the takeaways, after reading the director’s journal, was that Furina is like a big sister/sibling/familial-linkage-of-some-kind to all Fontainians. Despite everything, they are her family, she’d do it all again, because “to be human is to be part of the greatest opera ever known,” and there’s beauty in this life to preserve etc etc. Idk if I’m making any sense tbh, but it’s nice to know at least a few other people understand how to consume media critically 🥹
(Also! When shippers go on and on abt Neuvi paying for Furina’s apartment/things…Clorinde offers to do the same fucking thing. Like, literally offers to find her a new apartment with the apparent fortune she makes from being the champion duelist I guess. But they refuse to acknowledge that. Given, they probably don’t read her character stories or flavor text, but still)
yw! and ouch I can feel that, I'm very picky with who I follow so that didn't happen to me but this pairing is quite inescapable
anyway, that's an interesting take on focalors and furina, which I agree with but only on a symbolic level. yes they're of the same origin, but they're the same only in the way jesus and the holy father are both god. idk if you're familiar with christian doctrine but the focalors furina and neuvillette dynamic is based on the father-son-holy spirit trifecta. maybe I'll do a post on that eventually but in the meantime here's a chart to make it easier
Tumblr media
the father (focalors) created the son (furina) in his image, they're both incarnations of god but they're not one or the same being. rukkhadevata explained how this works in the context of teyvat and the irminsul also

furina and focalors share the same nature, though not in the same way rukkhadevata and nahida do as they are reincarnations, but the fact focalors died while furina lives and they don't share memories and experiences proves that in the eyes of the irminsul they're two separate beings with different "fates". which obviously makes furina even more incompatible with neuvi as she was never anything but a frightened young girl and the power and maturity imbalance is so steep it's at a 90° angle
that said, I do believe symbolically focalors' death put an end to furina's adolescence, as a death of the immortal self and of a physical manifestation of the idealized youth
in a similar symbolic way furina is an older sister type of figure to people of fontaine now. she ruled over them for 500 years she obviously cares for them, but only now she can actually learn to know and understand them as herself, and help them in ways furina, not the hydro archon, can
trying to find her own place in the world, distancing herself from her guardian figure and getting help from her friends, achieving enough power to protect herself alone, and literally going out drinking for the first time in her character stories (not that #those people read them anyway I'm sure) which is literally what hyv has been using from the start to show if someone is of age or not, are all steps of someone just stepping into adulthood. trying to ignore all this and say she should go back to working with neuvi and that the vision is him protecting her or putting a claim on her (writing that made me suicidal for half a second) for the sake of a fuckass m/f pairing is an actual insult to both of their characters. it's actually vile to me
anyway I hope the fans explode and die bc they're both illiterate and fans of heterosexuality. like pick a struggle

I see you have seen ATSV. Favorite characters, favorite scene, music all the fun stuff. Also theories pls
OHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOOHOHOOHOHOOHO-
Favourite characters:
PAVITR PRABHAKAR. ALL. THE. WAY. (Gwen and Miles are also rlly cool ngl) and The Spot. (he's just a goofy guy fksjhfjkshdfsj)
Favourite scene: Miles meeting Miles-42 near the end (Miles 42, or as I like to call him, Kilometer, looks incredibly depressed bc of his dad dying and the contrast between Kilometer and Miles's expressions in those scenes just hurts bro, especially since Kilometer is Miles but without the spider bite, and Miles should have become Kilometer in canon but he didn't so now the fates have been swapped), The Spot's villainous monologue which was then followed up by him kicking himself in the ass, or Pavitr's narrowly-avoided canon event.
Favourite song??? Irdk honestly, I can't say I can pick one-
As for theories, I posted the theory I had about Pav's canon events that has been bugging me since I watched it a bit ago but I think you saw it.
I am a firm believer in the Trans-Spider-Verse too, and honestly haven't had any other theories BUT THEY'LL BE COMING SOON-
Also can I say sorry to the Miguel simps but I WOULD KINDLY LIKE TO BODYSLAM HIM INTO A FLYING TRAIN THEN THROW HIM OFF THE FUCKING TRAIN FOR WHAT HE DID TO MILES. I am far too protective of him and honestly cannot stand Miguel's treatment of him.
Also I like Gwen and Peter B and all, but I felt so bad for Miles when he found out that they'd talked with Miguel about the whole canon event thing.
Also MAYDAY PARKER SHE JSDKFHDJGSJFGDGK I WANT TO SQUISH HER AFFECTIONATELY THE LITTLE BABY CHILD AUGHHHHHHHH
tHE SPOT THO
He was written so well I love it tbh, he's goofy and silly but also very well motivated and both sympathetic and terrifying and he's the exact flavour of villain that I love ngl-
And I forgot to mention: out of the whole film, I'd say the ships I ship are Pavitr x Gayatri, the adorable sunshine couple, and Gwen x Miles, but for the latter I wouldn't be upset if it takes a while for them to rebuild their relationship since it's understandable seeing what Gwen did.
anyway PLEASE rb with your opinions on this film bc you can see by my new layout that I have been consumed with ATSV brainrot and I've only just finished it

brainworms r unionizing again i actually have DIFFERENT character assignments for "isat in fe6" vs "fe6 in isat"
i think the only thing that stays the same is roy-mirabelle swap and associated eliwood-euphrasie swap lol
anyway if i had to pick fe6 characters to put into isat it would be
mirabelle = roy
bonnie = lugh (or raigh tbh)
odile = cecilia because i dont like niime
isabeau = wendy
siffrin = idunn
and king = jahn
listen man is being sealed for 1k years and being trapped in a timeloop for however long the same thing. isn't it.
do you understand the vision. do you. spoiler thoughts under the cut cuz i am Deranged thanks. esp act 5 spoilersand also twohats spoilers
can you IMAGINE for me please the act 5 siffrin fight except idunn just goes demon dragon. that mental image alone makes me jgbgkhn
idunn in particular is just kind of the perfect fit cuz initially she has Nothing Better To Do also. she only follows zephiel in canon cuz he got to her first and she's so broken that she listens to whoever.
esp considering ascended idunn in heroes... idunn who wakes up unsealed but instead of someone exploiting her she saves somebody at random and gets adopted into the group and treated like a person and that growth she has in the true end epilogue + as ascended idunn just gets kickstarted way earlier... and all she can recall of her own past is Darkness and Being Alone and she'd be so terrified to go back to that.
also jahn as the king obviously cuz they are Both Dragons and the dragons / arcadia would be stand in for the forgotten country. so jahn would still have a similar core motivation of "he's big mad the dragons got axed" but instead of a big war it's just. Nobody Can Remember. and we have an added layer here in that nobody remembers dragons. so idunn and jahn barely even know their own species in this scenario. like, maybe in battle jahn actually takes his dragon form but nobody knows what a dragon is so they assume this is some sort of magic.
also idunn gets the horror of realizing she's not even human. surely that'd be good for her psyche. obviously backstory stuff would be tweaked so since there's no war she didnt get her soul destroyed and her behavior is cuz of the total amnesia like how siffrin was just Aimless and didn't even make puns before meeting the squad.
i realize now that whoever i put in the isabeau slot creates an absolutely hilarious idunn ship. i dont ship idunn with anybody except recovery but the potential of wendy/idunn sounds like a riot
speaking of wendy i WOULD want someone from ostia in the isa slot cuz it just tracks the most to have ostian knights = defenders if pharae = dormont. yah. makes sense right.
wendy in particular is my choice cuz a) she's just the most memorable of the armor knights b) she already has body image issues in a lot of her supports so i think isa's whole narrative suits her well... she deeply admires the knights yet in this scenario the knights failed to stop a threat because it wasn't a threat to ostia and maybe that conflicts with her ideals of knighthood...
do you get it. obviously these are all different angles than the canon characters but that's the fun of AUs babey!!!!! It's not canon!! how WOULD they behave in this scenario and setting!!
odile n bonnie r complicated in that who i'd pick depends on who the other one is. for bonnie one of the araphen orphan trio feels obvious with lucius = nille, but which of them is. hm.
like if i went odile = niime bonnie would SO OBVIOUSLY be raigh. raigh-niime support chain replicates that dynamic well of niime's favorite is absolutely this random child. she thinks he's so funny. and niime is a good fit for odile too cuz both are Super Curious abt everything and (old). the main problem is i dont like niime very much because of the. (i stare into the distance) child abuse allegations. you know.
so my other pick for odile is cecilia. cecilia works well in that she'd be non lycian first so she has that aspect of odile + she's much more sociable than niime. she is also more sociable than odile please read her saul support she's so funny actually. cecilia to kids is obviously a teacher so she's a very caring figure but to other adults she is often a little shit. great contrast. but she also treats the younger side of the cast with the respect they deserve like she does treat roy as an equal because she sees that he's strong enough to handle this and she steps away from guiding him to be his own indepentant person so she's not patronizing. she'd also be a little shit to her friends if they're younger cecilia can be fucking hilarious dear god. she WOULD have a memory of first strike moment 100%.
if i pick cecilia for odile i would pick lugh for bonnie instead cuz you can have her take him under her wing since they're both anima mages as cecilia does with lilina in canon yeah.
as for backstory she wouldnt have been roy's teacher but she would've been around ostia so when roy and wendy set off to kill a dragon by themselves as a teacher she can't let kids die do you get it. the entire isat squad would be pushed down in age on account of fe6's child soldier problem but also i do imagine that cecilia is like. mid thirties at least and she's still comparatively much more mature than the rest of the cast. (who are all 15).
tbh this kinda makes lugh as bonnie more hilarious cuz roy and wendy are both like 15 and lugh is 13. two years apart. lugh is also just Way Shorter which makes him seem younger.
with lugh you have the same narrative of a initially cheerful child grappling with the grief of a sudden loss. honestly in canon i think lugh is the wildest of the trio cuz he swings wildly between sunshine boy and I WILL AVENGE MY FATHER. also in a lot of his C supports he's handing out pastries to people which is like how bonnie cooks for the group :) he's experiencing this depth of emotion he cant grapple with outside the childish notion of revenge and everyone around him struggles to accept that this Kid is facing the horrors of war. you see.
maybe the roy mira pick is just Blatantly Obvious To Me but both of them are Massive Imposter Syndrome. they both seem like chosen ones when they were really just in the right place at the right time and coincidence snowballed into saving the world. they're super insecure as a result cuz this is a MASSIVE burden they never expected to bear and the character development involves rising up to the occasion and seeing that it doesnt matter if they were chosen, they are here now, and they can do it.
euphie eli swap is more an extension of that as both are the central figure that everybody expected to save the world instead, who were stopped from doing so by external circumstances (i.e. being frozen first and eli's chronic illness + the bandit attack on pharae). both roy and mira flounder without the guidance of their key parental figure (housemaidens said to have raised mirabelle, eli is literally roy's dad). a lot of the main goals of the protags here is Getting Back so roy wants to end the war to return to his father (who is not LITERALLY frozen but its the same sense of "i cant return until this is done but i so dearly want to") which mirrors how much mira wants to save all vaugarde yeah but also specifically euphie and the guilt she feels for letting euphie down.
tldr. do you comprehend my vision. the real fun part of any AU is mixing lore like. if you just do a 1 to 1 swap what is even the point. you gotta adapt the characters and lore of the first thing to fit the second thing and still comprehensively resemble the second thing in some way but all the finery is different so you've still created something interesting and fresh to play with
which goes back to the differing characterizations of wendy and idunn in this scenario because the there ARE major differences to backstory and lore to make them fit the isat character roles which obviously changes how they develop even if they carry the same core traits ideals and personality.
like look at my fucking awakening shrek au this isn't shrek anymore but it still RESEMBLES shrek in structure enough to register AS shrek au even if the shrek-donkey dynamic is wholly different in chrom and lissa being siblings and the characterization of chrom is neither like shrek at all or like his canon ver yet it has TRAITS of his canon ver (chrom's sense of duty to his family and country, his complex feelings toward violence, seeing himself like a monster, etc) which are amplified by the situation (made into a literal monster and socially isolated for three years) so it's still like "i could imagine chrom behaving this way" but he doesnt in canon cuz in canon he has a support system to prevent him from reaching that low point in the first place
do you get it. do you see the appeal of making AUs. do yoh comprehend my vision of fe6 characters in shrek.
also i didnt mention loop cuz loop is. you cant just assign someone to BE loop because of twohats unless you already have media with a similar deal (if this was an awakening au instead siffrin would be robin and loop would be grima which works because grima is just a different version of robin to begin with)
so for loop as an alt idunn i'd imagine siffrin idunn has the divine demon fit whereas loop idunn is full dark priestess mode. and this iteration of loop instead of being cheerful and sarcastic and kind of mean would be more somber and pessimistic a la "i am alone in the dark." "you are alone in this loop. but... at least you have me, to guide you through the darkness."
since this ver of idunn would've gone thru the positive development of sif idunn but then regressed back to her previous self in feeling like she can never truly be free and is doomed to eternal loneliness but she still wants this other idunn to have the happiness she lacks she still fundamentally dreams of a warm wind blowing through. and after that she'd be content to fade away knowing the world she dreams of exists somewhere anywhere at all but then sif idunn pulls her out and we have a very "you remind me of him" moment to parallel fe6 true end where roy carries idunn out of the crumbling temple that trapped her.
this has been both my stance on AU creation in general as well as fe6 characters as the cast of isat

btw when it comes to innocent shipping with canon Br.idgerton characters (as in, not expected in THE SLIGHTEST in threads but may be referenced when speaking to characters who aren't involved because it's an ongoing thing)
but Cre.ssida would look at any Brid.gerton man of age and start from a place of 'yes, he'll do' with no differentiation - except in the verse where I write her with @retrograderesemblance's Be.nedict which I find hilarious (and at some point I have to get another Elo.ise or mine involved for the horror), because their trisk is the worst most beautiful thing ever. But in all other situations she doesn't have a specific crush, she just wants to be FREE of her family. ANYONE will do, so in threads with others she will not be mentioning any specific person.
when it comes to Bonnie, because we do not subscribe to the school of thought that a female oc is not allowed to have thoughts about canon male ones, it would be a playful reference in threads with anyone EXCEPT with the ones with his rpers that, once again, B.enedict would be the one she'd make eyes at (for the very simply reason that he makes stupid faces and uses weird tones of voice at random) (also if we follow canon timeline he's not married yet, but also, again, NOT something I'd be pushing on them, it's just that if I imagine her in that universe there is no way she wouldn't have eyed him)
Posy is 100% terrified by A.nthony and that is the ONLY sentiment that can be seen from anywhere lol I cannot imagine her being anyone's love interest, poor thing, nor even remotely joking or thinking about any of the main characters in that wat even if they were all single? she has too much anxiety to look at men. I do want ships for her, and not some guy that nobody else would like, but the point is that she won't be talking about anyone who has caught her eye because she's too busy needing to breathe into a bag.
E.loise may legit get a NPC husband I'll write myself, as devoted as the husbands of Pen's sisters. Or, maybe, possibly, make him be the valet who works for the family and brought her Theo's books and letter because he's cute and seems to like her character. I'm skipping her book as a whole tbh but I'd like to write her completely losing her head over some guy who is just as devoted. She'll be the one marrying 'below her station' maybe, who cares, that family can do whatever they want.

Hi, I saw you reblog a post recently about Daisy Jones & the Six and I wanna say I love the show as well as the book but there were so many differences between them that disappointed me. Anyway, do you think Billy and Camila will get divorced in the last two episodes? I’ve noticed that in the interviews, Camila has her maiden name Alvarez instead of Billy’s last name. Also, in the show she seems threatened by Daisy and says that if Billy loves her then that is when this ends. And we know that Billy has been a bad husband to Camila in the past as he cheated on her and in the show he does end up kissing Daisy. I know this may be messed up but I hope Billy and Camila won’t get divorced and that they’ll be endgame. I want the last two episodes to show that their marriage gets better and Billy learns to be a much better husband and father. This seems to be happening in episode 8 of the series as there’s several cute scenes between them and she’s even telling him about her day when they’re in a hotel room. And I shipped them so hard when I was reading the book as Billy did try to be a good husband to Camila after he got sober. And as I’ve mentioned, the series already had so many changes from the book and I want the last two episodes to pretty much follow the book. That would mean Billy and Camila would stay together and their marriage improves since that happened in the book.
Hiiii, anon ! Hope you're doing well !
Soooo, I gotta admit, I haven't read the book yet but I kinda know the ending concerning Camila (which makes me very sad for the finale tbh if it happens the same way). I've seen some posts concerning the differences about the show and the book, I can totally understand the disappointment. When you read a book, you picture everything, not only the characters themselves, but the way a scene is gonna go, every little detail, even a background music sometimes. Anyway, back to your question !
Honestly, I have no idea about these two. I think they want to keep us guessing while using Alvarez for Camila, and I don't remember if she's wearing a wedding ring in the interview but they have a lot of issues tbh. We know that Billy clearly loves her, they have a good life together, she seems to be his peace despite his faults (cheating on her and not being there for her for exemple). He describes Daisy as a temptation, it almost puts her in the same status as drugs and alcohol for him, which is... kinda bad tbh? I get the appeal about Daisy and Billy, I really really do, their chemistry is off the charts and we all love a good drama sometimes but at the same time, it doesn't seem healthy at all. They both cope dangerously when something bothers them, and personally, I think that Daisy doesn't need Billy in her life because Billy is not there for her either. I get Billy's struggles, and he lives for the music as always, but he seems mainly lost because of all the temptations around him and clings to Camila and their daughter. Like I mentioned earlier, Camila seems to be his peace but Daisy is... something that angers him and calms him as the same time. He needs more, always, although he pretends otherwise, just like his past addictions, which is why he compares her to a temptation I think. Right now, Billy needs someone like Camila in his life, they have a good thing going on, and Daisy needs a life of her own, a life outside Billy and the temptation he also is for her. She needs to figure out what she wants for herself, to truly live for herself and not for other people. She desperately needs to be loved and to be needed, but she can't have Billy the way Camila has him in her life, she can't have Billy the way she truly needs him. The timing isn't right from the beginning and that makes it mostly tragic.
At the end of ep 8, Billy seemed terrified at the idea of losing Daisy, which complicates things even further. He loves both of them because they represent two sides of him, two sides he needs in his life but you can't have it all, and at the time of show, it definitely isn't the right time for Billy and Daisy, that's probably why they do find each other much later in life in the book from what I understood. I do think that Billy and Camila will stay together, and the book ending will probably happen, maybe differently. I don't know what they have planned for Camila and Eddie, she carries her secret with her with a lot of guilt, even though she knows that her husband also loves another woman, but she loves Billy, she loves their life, he's it for her. Like she said, you don't stop loving someone when things get hard, and she's right. So yeah, I do think that they're gonna stay together and Billy will be the one to decide that for Camila and himself. Maybe I'm gonna be wrong, we're gonna find out in a few days! But yeah, for me, it's all about the timing and at the moment, the timing is right for Billy and Camila.

The Darkness Outside Us book review
The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer (2021)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tumblr media
"Insanity used to be a stranger that lived on the other side of the world. Now it’s moved next door. It’s only a matter of time until it becomes shipmate, lover, self." (p.305)
finished this book yesterday at 2am and i ate it up! a bit slow start, but as soon as the mystery began i couldn't put it down. Sci-fi is not and never will be my favorite genre (never finished one tbh) but how could i say no to the promise of gays in space?! and it definitely didn't disappoint!
The story is set in the future and follows two spacefarers, from two different enemy countries, on a mission to save the main character's sister, who disappeared three years ago on a solo mission to Titan, one of Saturn's moons. After some sleuthing and truthseeking the boys realise their rescue mission is much bigger than themselves.
The relationship between the spacefarers, Ambrose Cusk and Kodiak Celius, was incredibly interesting to experience and it left me with some thoughts and feelings as well.
"You love Kodiak. This is the hidden miracle of all this: you might be loving each other deeper than any humans have ever loved, have ever needed to love, have ever had the occasion to love." (p. 343)
The love between them is so much deeper and on such a different level than most people experience on Earth, because they are all the other has. I loved the bits where we heard past Ambrose's messages as they portrayed his inner thoughts about the situation and also portrayed a love for the future versions of himself and the true mission, they felt very soft at certain points. cried when reading the letters he had left for the last one, about the life he and Kodiak lived on the ship and how he taught his future self to open his heart and how to truly love.
I recomend this book to people who might be interested in experiencing a different kind of love story, than all the YA high school lgbt romance that's been so popular recently. The book is a hard one to swallow at times, but teaches about true, deep love and how to learn on others in times of crisis. It is honestly one of my biggest fears tho. if the oppotunity came around i would Never agree to going into space that is so terrifying along with being lost in the ocean no thank you

HI, MY LOVE!!! how about 17, 27, and 29 <333
HI BELOVED ILY 🥰💞
17. Your favorite character to write this year?
megumi (no one is surprised) listen he just. he's so blorbo shaped. he's just like me fr. he literally just wants to be loved but he would never say that because he doesn't think he deserves it. he's my bestfriend. my silly little rabbit.
27. What do you listen to while writing?
it changes with every fic i write tbh sometimes i will loop 1-2 songs that fit the vibe of the fic exactly, sometimes i'll shuffle the playlist for the ship/character i'm writing about, and sometimes i'll just shuffle my current repeats playlist - it kinda depends what mood i'm in. sometimes i will also write without listening to anything (like if i'm writing during work or in class.. or if i can't find any music that fits the current vibes) i did also listen to the prison realm lo-fi while working on a fic bc nothing else was working skdhsjsk
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
ah yeah,, this one comes from itafushi soulmate au,,,, i wasn't going to share it before posting the fic but for you my love i will do anything <3
Megumi never even met Geto. He doesn’t really know how dangerous Geto was or what Geto’s plans were. In his eyes, Geto was more mythical than human. He was intangible, a lost love, nothing more than the kuroyuri on Gojo’s skin. Always kuroyuri.
When Megumi had looked up the meaning of the flower, he found two: Love and Curse.
Geto was the clouds floating overhead; always there, but never reachable. Gojo could never outrun him (could never scrub the flowers from his skin) but instead of tearing himself apart over it, he learned to dance in the rain.
To Megumi, Geto is a figurehead of everything wrong and terrifying about having a soulmate, but also a symbol of an entirely unconditional love.
And now he’s dead, killed by the hand of the only man who never stopped loving him.
honestly i'm not sure i can exactly explain why this sticks out to me so much but it's just.. there's something abt megumi only knowing geto in theory - only knowing him as gojo's soulmate - and therefore having an entirely different perception of him than everyone else. megumi gets into this mindset where he almost idolizes the idea he has of geto bc to him, geto isn't a real person. he's the flowers on gojo's skin and he's a tale of tragedy and he's what megumi's future may very well look like. but if megumi's soulmate left jujutsu high with blood on his hands, megumi would follow.

What’s your spiciest loz and/or Lu take
Oh my god, damn. Controversial spicy? Y'know what? I'll post this.
Let's start with something not too spicy for loz stuff:
I don't know if, officially, minish cap, four swords, and four swords adventures should have been put on the Zelda timeline. I think they should have had their own little spinoff branch. Because they don't make a lot of sense worked into the main lore. They were developed by Capcom using the Nintendo IP and there's apparently a Ganondorf thrown in there iirc??? That's super weird and doesn't make sense.
Now am I ragging on the games? No! From what I played of minish cap, it was super delightful. I just don't think they should be included on the main timeline because Nintendo didn't develop their lore so it doesn't fit in well. In that same note, I don't think hw:aoc should be canon either. And they marketed aoc misleadingly tbh.
Also the Zelda team just likes to slap numbers on things to mark the passage of time. Idk if it's a translation thing or what but the botw gap SHOULD NOT be 10,000 years. That's way too many years.
A rant/vent about lu under the cut for the truly spicy takes, I'm very salty. If you have strong opinions about this and don't wanna get upset, don't read it.
LU take: there's no story. Just pretty pictures and half baked characterizations. The fandom took it much farther than the comic but I'm very over the fandom now. This is why I make my own stuff with a set plot because I got frustrated with such little source material to base things on, soooo I left. No gay either in canon, very sad. Some people like the lack of plot and the ability to make their fan works their own but that is not my thing at all, ESPECIALLY while the fandom can be so hostile. I don't care for LU anymore, and of the creators I still follow that post lu, I follow because I want to support THEM, not the fandom or lu comic, and in many cases I think they have a nuanced, fleshed out take on the characters they post frequently about. I'm all for people making their own content independent of lu, but maybe I'm just jaded and salty. I just really dislike lu.
It's also made linkshipping a very hostile environment, like I think I'm gonna get attacked someday bc someone that has adopted the LU mindset just takes it upon themselves to doxx me or something because I ship my own version of the hero of Legend and hero of Warriors (entirely separate from LU), and I'm open to other people's interpretations and ships? Like there's actually nothing wrong with it. Ever hear of don't like don't read? Yeah, now shut the fuck up about it because this discourse is childish and I shouldn't have to fear for the future of my online presence and mental state over a ship that's objectively unproblematic, and people shouldn't be afraid to approach me and tell me that they like my work because they're afraid of getting found out and having their reputation ruined and losing their friends! Asau makes me happy. All of my free time goes into it. I shouldn't feel terrified that I'll lose it all one day because someone decided to be an idiot.
And even if people ship stuff in lu. Who fucking cares? You shouldn't. People have shipped things ever since fandom has existed, so even if the creator of one webcomic says they don't want that, it's bigger than her now. Policing views isn't helping anyone. It is only actively hurting people and making them feel unsafe. It's not worth it. I promise you it's not.

Buddie 402 meta
Tumblr media
Let’s start with some Buck and how this ep is reminding us all along of his progress. Remember him at the start of season 1, rash and reckless and told off by Hen for solving everything by smashing things? Well, he still gets to smash things, but now we also see him cool, collected and resolving problems by figuring out awesome and smart solutions (the baby monitor feedback, the chimney). All this parallels his emotional progress, where he went from being the “dumbass kid” as Bobby refers to him in ep 101 to giving Chim advice on his relationship with Maddie from a mature place.
* * *
I loved the bit with the roommates and the feelings realization during lockdown together. A comical wink at what Buck and Eddie might have gone through if Eddie did quarantine at Buck’s before he went home to Chris? ;) IDK, but it’s a fun thought. *gasp* And they were roommates!
* * *
Tumblr media
I mentioned this in the 401 meta and I’m keeping up my promise to follow this, how Buddie are a team with preferred roles, infinite coordination and mutual reliance. Just one ep later, we have it again, down to Buck rappelling down a rope while Eddie holds him, even attaching the equipment on him instead of Buck doing it for himself, passing him the ax and being so in sync with him. Battle boyfriends!
* * *
Ok, I title these posts ‘Buddie meta’, focusing on anything related to Buck, Eddie, them as a ship and the characters/couples that parallel/connect to them, because that alone is way too many words already. But I have to mention the scene where Chim and Athena’s story arcs climax in intertwined cuts. Everything about that is amazing, not just the acting, but the editing, the music, the build up to how we get to this moment to make it so effective, even the way they managed to create two totally different scenarios that both culminate in the need to ‘push!’ It’s masterful. It’s the show telling us, ‘look at me, look at how well I know my craft, at how I build a story and its meanings and parallels, at how good I am when I do it.’ This is the show earning our trust and our love, proving that we’re not just wasting our time when we give it credit and invest time and thought into analyzing it.

Chim isn’t paired up with Eddie in this ep, but I had to think about their parallels. Chim comes to see he’s been scared and that’s why he ran away, but he figured it out and came back to his child, just like Eddie did. But Chim came back to his kid and to Maddie, realizing it’s gonna be better if they’ll be scared together. Eddie returned to Chris, but how sad is it that at the end of the day, he didn’t have a partner to be scared with? When he was discharged, Shannon felt she had to go. And even later on, she didn’t feel she could stay and be with him, asking for a divorce. How wonderful would it be if in Buck, Eddie finally found a partner he could be scared together with? Because in practicality, that’s what’s been happening since 204, when Eddie was overwhelmed by and terrified of the bureaucratic system and Buck found a solution for him (Carla… don’t get me started about her speaking of invisible strings of love to Chris with Eddie right there, that scene was too sweet, and just think about the fact that it exists thanks to Buck), or another example of how Eddie went to Buck when he was scared about having let Chris down in ep 312 and Buck is there to listen, as well as to help with a solution. Just another reminder that in all ways but one, they truly and fully are partners.

The mystery woman turned out to be a therapist, no surprise there. However, Buck’s exact words to her were a pleasant one, as was the way Oliver delivered the line. So I’ll step into speculation territory again (please don’t allow me to keep doing this). TBH, I actually don’t think this will immediately lead us to Buddie or a bi!Buck. I think this will first play out in the context of telling Maddie and his parents how he really feels when they will come into town. We already knew from 316 Buck sometimes holds back on some of the things he feels, like how it’s taken him years to tell Maddie about his feelings of loneliness and abandonment, so this falls in line and I do believe he will have to go through this family drama first to figure himself out. He will have a crisis, it’s not going to be easy to get through, but it will be so very important. But then, later on, I think the show might return to these words and build upon them as a parallel. Because if we are getting Buddie, then this is a slow burn. Gotta throw in a couple more obstacles first, like going through an identity crisis… those obstacles will only make the journey that much more worthwhile when we get to the final destination. And I do see over time more and more of a possibility this destination is that Buddie will be together canonically.
Thank you so much again to the incredible @bicepsie for doing the gifsets for this meta, I know that these are a lot of work and you get bombarded with my messages in what is in our time zone the small hours of the morning, when the ep had just finished airing, and you do it with love and so beautifully. I really feel like I can’t thank you enough, love! xoxox
