I recently watched Rogue One, and the scenes of Jyn and Cassian spending their last moments with each other before their deaths made me think of Noa and Mae and now I'm an emotional mess.

Just imagine these scenes with Noa and Mae. They've done everything they could to save their people. They've given up their lives to bring the war between humans and apes to an end. As they gaze at each other, they know death is inevitable, and they see in each other's faces the life that could've been theirs, yet they hope their sacrifice for a brighter future will be enough, even if it's for a sunrise they know they'll never see.

This is probably obvious but I just comprehended on my third watch that Mae wasn't allowed inside the base. Presumably considered too contaminated to allow in. Like I'm hoping she was allowed in offscreen later but god can you imagine that

Literally. imagine that. Most likely weeks if not months on her own after her group was killed with no one to talk to until some random chimp and orangutan takes pity on you & adopts you into their group but you know it cant last so you shouldn't get attached but you do anyway because holy fuck. they're showing you,,,kindness??? feeding you talking to you keeping you warm rescuing you. Taking care of you. after all that time alone. For no reason. So you get attached to them anyway. Then one fucking dies saving you. Then the first human you meet after months on your own you have to fucking murder. Literally kill with your bare fucking hands. Then the last person you can call a friend on this planet you have to betray horrifically, and not just him but everyone he calls family. And you just have to walk away because it's for the greater good and youve already come this far and you cant let all those sacrifices (human & ape) be in vain. Then you go back to his camp and realize...woah...he survived. And he forgives you. And you walk away. Then ride to a human camp. And then you can't even go inside and talk to them and be with them to see if what you did all that for actually works. Her life fucking sucks

Why is the Noa/Mae ship bothering people?

"He's an ape and she's a human." - Okay, and? Are real apes and humans going at it?

"It's weird." - Again, no REAL animal or human is involved. Also this is tumblr. If you have been here long enough or a while, I know you have seen weirder.

"It's clogging up the kotpota tag." - It's actually not. Even if it is you can literally scroll and ignore. You don't have to engage with it. Also there is this wonderful thing called blocking tags.

Did I just go see the new planet of the apes movie because it vaguely reminded me of Avatar… who’s to say? Maybe the pretty scenes, humans not being the top species, flooding sequence, actors in motion capture, and the token human causing drama is just a coincidence.
