Gillian is sneaky, and oh gosh that recording is impressive. Completely unethical, of course, but it's fiction so I'm going to ignore that more than this note. Seeing Bethany reflect on all the changes she's made to herself over the years, realizing that it's strengthing Gillian's control even more with ever realization is ... oh, that's hot. And the end result, seeing how easily she falls into mindlessly repeating Gillian's words, oh that's just satisfyingly hot. 9/10 spirals

That implant would *infuriate* me. Having the same song in my head over and over? Oh that's just CRUEL. It's not a story that speaks to me, particularly, with the control being tech and us seeing the effects more than the process, but it's well written. Even if I have more questions than answers, as per usual. 7/10 spirals

Ah, well, the ending isn't surprising. A little sad, because I'm a helpless romantic, but not really surprising. The plan Haley and Delia came up with is clever, and a solid end to the series, assuming this is truly the end of course, or at least for the arc we've been following. But much like the rest of this series, it's not really erotic for me. 9/10 spirals

This is maybe a little meta, but in a fun way.  And it works so well, and in a way that doesn't even trip my suspension of disbelief. Though I can't help but think that if Mr Hong were a smart writer, he'd have a backlog of stories alraedy written so that in case of emergency he could just share those. But then he wouldn't be able to lure a lady into taking dictation for him, so I suppose he thinks he's made the right (write?) choice here. And the use of the glowy ball is  just a perfect touch. 9/10 spirals

Awwww, this is cute and sweet. Also hot, but mostly sweet. These two are so precious, and I want to just smush them together and wish them all the happiness. Tommi's way of approaching this, the immediate "did you enjoy that" reaction she has afterwards, just all of it? It's lovely. Though Louis really needs to reevaluate what being hypnotized feels like, because he's very wrong. 10/10 spirals.

Oh, I love a brat meeting the joy that is futile resistance... or not being able to resist, which is its own kind of fun, as the case may be. And making "would you kindly" the trigger is just icing on the cake. Her sheer inner conflict on wanting to brat but it being so hot to find herself unable to do anything but mindlessly obey? It's a struggle I'm quite fond of being on the recieving end of myself. The tone of the story is spot-on too. 10/10 spirals

I, uh, somehow don't think that's how pamphlets work. Hypnosis, maybe, but not pamphlets. But ignoring that, the concept is a solid one, and I really like the sale set-up, and how she's been welcomed into the small community.  It feels very small town Midwestern in almost every way, except for the obvious way. But I enjoy the focus on the process here, and the amnesia is good fun. 9/10 spirals

This one, in contrast to the last few, isn't so much my style. While the direct abuse of authority and trust part that usually bothers me is less on display, the history is clear, and I've known too many folk who have been poorly treated in academia to be entirely comfortable with how this is set up. Add in a level of derison at an accurate summation of what's going on, the clear manipulation in play, and it just doesn't work for me. But if those are tropes you enjoy, give it a look? 6/10 spirals

Ok, loop suggestions are just fun, and I like this take on one. Seeing her thoughts as each loop plays out, effecting her more than the last time she said it is just fun. Also I relate very much to the "but do I have to be awake?" emotion at the start of the story. This is just good, fun, consensual hypnokinky shenanigans and I'm super here for it. 10/10 spirals

*sigh* thoughts on Nintendo's botw/totk timeline shenanigans and tomfoolery?

tbh. my maybe-unpopular opinion is that the timeline is only important when a game's place on the timeline seriously informs the way their narrative progresses. the problem is that before botw we almost NEVER got games where it didn't matter. it matters for skyward sword because it's the beginning, and it matters for tp/ww/alttp (and their respective sequels) because the choices the hero of time makes explicitly inform the narrative of those games in one way or another. it matters which timeline we're in for those games because these cycles we're seeing are close enough to oot's cycle that they're still feeling the effects of his choices. botw, however, takes place at minimum 10 thousand years after oot, so its place on the timeline actually functionally means nothing. botw is completely divorced from the hero of time & his story, so what he does is a nonissue in the context of botw link and zelda's story. thus, which timeline botw happens in is a nonissue. honestly I kind of liked the idea that it happened in all of them. i think there's a cool idea of inevitability that can be played with there. but the point is that the timeline exists to enhance and fill in the lore of games that need it, and botw/totk don't really need it because the devs finally realized they could make a game without the hero of time in it.

You know what, I figured out why we're having so many errors in Destiny 2 now. It's because with the addition of Micah-10, we've finally reached a critical mass of women with drop dead gorgeous voices, and the game simply can't handle it anymore. It's like Telesto. Too powerful. If they'd actually put Ikora Rey in a rendered cutscene for more than 5 seconds it would have shut down the servers for good

woke up angry because they put ANYONE BUT Boba on the Mando throne.

I love Bo-Katan, MORE than the next person probably. BUT PLEASE DAVE FILONI. I LOVE SATINE TOO BUT PLEASE. Both of them have reasons as to why they aren’t fit to rule Mandalore, but Boba shows us time and time again that he could singlehandedly take back the entire planet.

And the disrespect Bo-Katan gives him?? Crazy, crazy propaganda and its crazy that SHE out of all people would listen to it. And giving Bo-Katan the right of being their leader after giving it up SO EASILY?(listen, I know she was in a tough situation but you think even the mando’s would take that personally and say hey not u but maybe IM wrong on that), you would think the mando’s would SEE that as unfit and disrespectful, seeming all that happened afterwords.

It would NOT be crazy, at least in legends, to say that the people would PRAY for Jango’s return. You think they aren’t gonna see Boba and drop to the ground with the Mandalorian throne in their hands? It’s his birth right DIRECTLY, Jango is a DIRECT descendant of Cassus Fett and a bloodline that has been Mandalorian for centuries— this makes Boba and the clones direct descendants too— THAT IS THEIR CLAIM. It’s literally their BIRTH RIGHT, and keeping the clones away from their culture is even more disrespectful than Boba not claiming whats his.

AND the watering down of Death Watch is crazy, I KNOW I aways bring this up but it makes me mad. I do not CARE if they are just the children of the watch, they are clearly still a rouge fraction that believes in the old Death Watch ways. Boba knows the stories, what they have done to his father has been with him since he was BORN, he deserved at LEAST a 1v1 vs Paz instead of that weak death (it was kinda cool but when you consider a VIZSLA?? Going down?? Yeah cooler death even if you hate them). Its even more important that Din knows what they’ve done, or at least the armorer admitting and telling the story of what happened on THAT day.

This was literally just a yapping sesh because I’m salty about Boba not reclaiming what’s RIGHTFULLY his, or any of the clones for that matter. All in all, Boba should be sitting on that throne not in some trash bin on Tatooine.

I'm sorry, but I can't get over still what a mess Grievous' backstory now is lol, and mostly because I haven't looked at it for a few years, and somehow things got even more jumbled since then.

The amount of inconsistencies and conflicting info is just staggering.

Like, at this point I would honestly respect whoever is doing this shit way more ( initially Lucas and Filoni lol ) if they actually just. Changed his story and stuck to it. No "ambiguity" that Filoni tried to slide in out of respect and likely knowing fans wouldn't appreciate the new writing, no nothing. I would also respect it more if I could at least see that they put ACTUAL thought into it, more than the apparent 30 SECONDS that turned him into a character a 2-year old created.

I'd still ignore it, sure, but at least they could TRY to do something interesting with the "new and "improved" lore".

Instead we got that atrocity, and then the weird sliding back into Legends lore with them picking out some pieces and adding them to his "canon", while trying to avoid actually just changing it back to what it was, despite it creating a ton of nonsensical holes in the story. Why.

One of the MANY, but more recent examples I've seen was the shuttle crash incident from the now Legends, which made sense there, but not only does it make little to NO sense in the new lore, they also try to DIRECTLY STATE THAT IN THEIR OWN NEW CANON MATERIALS. They literally write "but actually it wouldn't have mattered if the crash happened, if it was the Sith who orchestrated it, because he already chose to be a cyborg and would've ended up as one anyway". Okay, then. Why did you add this back at all in the first place. You could've just not done this? Why was it brought back from Legends into canon just so you can then repeatedly say "but this event actually doesn't matter and has no effect on the story or Grievous' character development".

Literally what is this fucking shit. Who is doing this lol. How is any of this even acceptable writing.

Just, ffs - either keep his new lore, remove all the Legends stuff from it, and actually at least TRY to make something out of it - there are SOME interesting ideas, themes and directions they could go with this! If they actually gave a single fuck!

Or bring back his Legends story, remove this trash, and polish and work on expanding the original instead.

Every time I see some new piece of media that focuses on him, I have a shred of hope that they'll start doing something, anything with him, but instead it's either more garbage, or we just get something that expands on nothing at all, really.

It seriously feels like he's just a hated character by the majority of creators there, who refuse to work on him for YEARS and would rather give Jar Jar and other minor characters more development and screen time than him LOL. Jesus.

I think my issue with a lot of modern takes on video game creepypastas, particularly the concept of "fixing" video game creepypastas, is that a lot of them seem to believe video game horror revolves around making things visually scary and not like. Considering what would actually make something like Super Mario scary

I've been on kind of a Mario kick recently so I've been interested in recent creepypasta fangame projects revolving around it and they all have the same energy of like. Distorted faces and bitcrushed noises and running from a demon and all that. Analog horror stuff. In an abstracted way it seems more like they're trying to fix Sonic.EXE than anything, but what was wrong with Sonic.EXE wasn't that it's designs weren't scary enough. It fundamentally didn't understand how to take Sonic and twist its concepts in a way to make it scary

Like, take Mario 64 horror and compare it Super Mario horror. 64 has a legacy as a kind of lonely, vaguely uncanny game in the minds of many people. Lots of Mario 64 horror banks on this with surreal imagery and emphasis on extreme feelings of isolation. The early Super Mario games don't have a history with this sort of innate unease, so what do they have to distort and corrupt?

I think the best example of Super Mario horror is Coronation Day. It understands the assignment, that being - Mario games are whimsical, they tell a story without giving much information, and they rely on graphics to immerse the player in the fantastical world. Coronation Day twists these; the story is whimsical in a very dark way, it uses corrupted, vague messages to convey its plot, and it's backgrounds and assets immerse the player in the feeling that something is deeply deeply wrong. Coronation Day absolutely does rely on scary designs and gore and stuff, but I think it would still be impactful without it.

Idk I'm not sure I'm communicating a coherent point here, I just wish these modern "fix-it" takes on Creepypastas would apply more depth than "good horror art = inherently good horror game/story"

Playing Fallout 1 and noticing Necropolis disappear from the caravans is just. So perfect.

The game brings no attention to it. No one mentions it. The caravans just don’t go there anymore. It makes you wonder what happened, you solved all their problems already, right?

So now you have a reason to go back there, cause otherwise there’s really no reason too. And when you do, everyone is gone. There’s no more ghouls, just super mutants. They invaded, and there’s nothing you can do to stop them. Once you hit that date, the city is gone.

It’s frankly a brilliant moment of subtle storytelling and even though I already knew about Necropolis’ fate it still motivated me to go back, just to make sure.

I wonder how many people discovered it this way? I can only imagine just how effective this reveal is for someone actually playing the game blind.
