it’s so funny to me when people make posts that are like i hate it when fandom mischaracterizes my favorite blorbo/fandom needs to stop reading the story this way/fandom reduces my blorbo to xyz trait when they actually contain multitudes bc they clearly have things they like and care about re: the topic but instead of simply sharing their thoughts they have to preface their joy with this kicking at the table leg bit that emphasizes how correct their opinion is and how everyone else is Lame and also Wrong like mein gotte it’s barbie dolls on some 35 year old who works in software engineering’s macbook you have contributed nothing to society by telling jessica from ohio software engineer to deepen their understanding of sakusa kiyoomi haikyuu. ‘fandom always ignores/forgets that’ ok and? your problem is? ? ? maybe people are happy writing chilfuck as a babygirl or marcille as something other than a girlfailure in which case good for them!! it sparks joy yahhhh!!! i’ve blocked enough people on twitter to mostly be at peace these days but tumblr is Not Safe everywhere i go on my dash there are these weirdos who think everyone else is doing fandom wrong. you silly man. you absolute buffoon. you mysterious moralist

HELLOOOOOOO so I basically owe a huge part of my fandom identity to you, because if you hadn't run Our Flag Means Party I probably wouldn't have ever written my first ever AU, and that particular AU led me to getting much deeper into writing in this fandom than I ever anticipated, which has led to me making so many friends and really shaped my experience here, which is so fucking cool??? So thank you for that!!

And then I also just think you're one of the most interesting people I follow on Tumblr. You've got such an eclectic array of interests, and I learn so much about Aotearoa and kiwi culture from what you share. And I love how open you are whenever I just slide my way into your DMs to ask you random questions, including, but not limited to, what the postal service is like. I think one of the coolest things about fandom is how it allows you to connect with people that you never would have otherwise, and you really exemplify that. I don't know if I'll ever actually be able to make it over to Aotearoa but at least I can experience a sliver of it through your eyes in a way that feels more real than if I were simply reading about it from random sites off the internet.

Plus I think Maisey Rika is going to be on my Spotify Wrapped this year because of you, which is also very cool.

I feel like I'm rambling here but in short I feel like you personify all the best parts of fandom, creating community and sparking creativity and sharing your interests in an authentic way with people all around the world and I am so grateful our paths crossed. 💕

Why don’t you want five in school?

Oh, I've ranted about it before in the tags of THIS POST but in general it makes me wildly uncomfortable. As an adult, the thought of hypothetically being forced back to high school is the fucking pits, you could not pay me enough to do it - and I even had a good time in high school! Five is almost 60 years old and they're going to force him to go to classes and hang out with teens? That feels bad from every angle! It forces Five to act in a way he'd only do under great duress and fucks his agency and autonomy as an adult so badly. There are better, more interesting ways to play with the consequences of his physical vs actual age than sending him to goddamn high school. There's other, less dominating options for the "he looks like a kid and never actually graduated" problem.

You do you if that's your jam, don't let a random dude on the internet yuck your yum, but Five in high school is a squick for me.
