Maan.. I wanna rant but i don't want shit to end up in the wrong tags and shit because I don't actually want to start a war. But.. I really hate ship-wars man... Like really really... they ruin everyone's fun.. because it's always a damn competition.. for some reason there's always a fight about "which couple is more canon" and a whole damn agenda to make people stop shipping the "losing" team... and I'm sooo tired of it. Like shit... I usually don't fall for the biggest ship in the story.. idk why but that has never really been what intrigued me most of the time. Save for maybe Merlin... because there weren't many who didn't ship Merthur when I was involved.. And with MHA I was pretty safe too at first because I do ship one of the biggest ships in the fandom (and one of the smaller ones but that ones pretty safe luckily). Point is.. I want to leave people be. I want people to have fun and that means you get to ship what you want in piece. I mean this with all of my heart.. which is why it really really sucks when people don't think the same way.. If I don't like something I stay away from it the best I can. But then.. with this one big ship that I ship.. came an ever bigger rival... and for some reason.. some of those shippers (I'm not gonna blame all of ya, I don't swing that way).. just can't for some reason.. leave my ship alone. I go looking for content that makes me happy, someone is there to discredit it and claim that theirs is better and makes more sense.. on the off-chance that I do see something about their ship.. well lo' and behold.. my ship is mentioned and discredited.. geez.. I really do appreciate those of you who can leave other ships out of it.. But it's.. ugh it's tiresome because it's even ruining the show for me to some extent.. Like.. I can't enjoy the developments because it just reminds me of those shitty people who likes to shit on the things I like. Doesn't that just grind your gears?? Moral of the story.. Enjoy your stuff, try to stay out of others enjoyment.. pls?
#personal shit#I know that some people are probably gonna get who i'm talking about and all that#but I didn't wanna mention anyone because as I said#I don't want this to end up in the wrong tags#and ruin people's fun#that's the whole point of the rant anyways

I came here for the silly haha doodles, but I've stayed for the absolutely blazing commentary in the tags. Your analysis of this story is so so so good! Thanks for all the work and thought you put into this!
I am just a silly little comics blog. I am not hiding anything in the tags, no way. Never.
#ask#digital art#I truly am grateful for the amount of people that not only read my journal-essay-thoughts on my comics#but also take the time to respond and/or write their own thoughts on the themes and scenes.#I really love taking apart stories and seeing how the threads weave together. Like flipping over an embroidered tapestry!#Some people thinks it ruins the illusion of what a story is - to me it *elevates* the experience to see the seams.#It's like knowing how they did the practical effects and stunts in a movie. It give you a deeper appreciation for the work that went into i#Thank you for acknowledging the work I put into every part of this project!#When I started drawing I....well...wasn't really the strongest with my visuals.#Humorously recapping scenes played off of my strengths (silly billying) and also just made the project *fun*.#But right from the start I also wanted to take my time and marinate on the themes and journal my thoughts.#I never really expected people to read them!#What might seem like a quick comic takes me several hours and I often spend a good bit of time with my tag essays too.#I owe so much to everyone who's dropped by to cheer me on and make this blog into part of the community.#to those who just lurk or drop by once in a blue moon - I thank you as well for coming along for the journey.#So even though it adds extra time; these little essays are a treat for you B*)

The thing is, I don’t care that much about the actual act of someone shipping aromantic characters nearly as much as I care about the biases and amatanormative beliefs that underlie so many people’s decision to do so. The problem isn’t that individual people ship aromantic characters sometimes. It’s the fact that shipping aromantic characters or expressing disappointment that a character is aromantic and thus “can’t be shipped” almost seems to be the default in fandom spaces. Aromantic representation, especially nonpartnering aromantic representation, is treated as something that will “ruin people’s fun” (see: the Hazbin Hotel creator explaining why she won’t say whether or not Alastor is aromantic).
And yes, SOME aromantic people can still date or have non-romantic partners. But the fact that some people are so vehemently against the idea of fictional characters being nonpartnering is still something to be questioned.
Because, really, that’s the crux of the issue. It’s perfectly fine if people like the idea of an aromantic character being partnering or romance favorable. In fact, it would be wonderful to see more characters written as partnering and/or romance favorable aromantics. But when someone ONLY shows interest in characters being partnering or favorable aros in response to those same characters being interpreted as nonpartnering, it often comes across less as a desire to have representation for partnering and favorable aros and more as an opposition to having representation for nonpartnering aros.
#aro#aromantic#things i wrote in one sitting without editing or proofreading#amatanormativity#shipping#fandom#partnering and nonpartnering aros both deserve to be represented!#but alloromantic people never seem to interpret characters who are canonically in relationships as nonpartnering aros#and yet. the second a character is in text saying stuff like “I am not interested in romance or dating” suddenly they’re like#“uhhh we can still ship them because aromantic people can still date”#it’s bullshit. alloromantic people only want to acknowledge partnering aros as an excuse to avoid acknowledging nonpartnering aros#and it hurts all of us! it creates division in our community! and for what? fucking ships?#anyways#I’m not even into hazbin hotel but it is such an excellent representation of how arophobia and shipping culture are intertwined#bc we all know what vivziepop meant with the whole “haha well I know his romantic orientation but I’m not going to say it”#“because I don’t want to ruin everyone’s fun!” bullshit

thinking about how Humans Are Space Orcs stories always talk about how indestructible humans are, our endurance, our ability to withstand common poisons, etc. and thats all well and good, its really fun to read, but it gets repetitive after a while because we aren't all like that.
And that got me thinking about why this trope is so common in the first place, and the conclusion I came to is actually kind of obvious if you think about it. Not everyone is allowed to go into space. This is true now, with the number of physical restrictions placed on astronauts (including height limits), but I imagine it's just as strict in some imaginary future where humans are first coming into contact with alien species. Because in that case there will definitely be military personnel alongside any possible diplomatic parties.
And I imagine that all interactions aliens have ever had up until this point have been with trained personnel. Even basic military troops conform to this standard, to some degree. So aliens meet us and they're shocked and horrified to discover that we have no obvious weaknesses, we're all either crazy smart or crazy strong (still always a little crazy, academia and war will do that to you), and not only that but we like, literally all the same height so there's no way to tell any of us apart.
And Humans Are Death Worlders stories spread throughout the galaxy. Years or decades or centuries of interspecies suspicion and hostilities preventing any alien from setting foot/claw/limb/appendage/etc. on Earth until slowly more beings are allowed to come through. And not just diplomats who keep to government buildings, but tourists. Exchange students. Temporary visitors granted permission to go wherever they please, so they go out in search of 'real terran culture' and what do they find?
Humans with innate heart defects that prevent them from drinking caffeine. Humans with chronic pain and chronic fatigue who lack the boundless endurance humans are supposedly famous for. Humans too tall or too short or too fat to be allowed into space. Humans who are so scared of the world they need to take pills just to function. Humans with IBS who can't stand spicy foods, capsaicin really is poison to them. Lactose intolerance and celiac disease, my god all the autoimmune disorders out there, humans who struggle to function because their own bodies fight them. Humans who bruise easily and take too long to heal. Humans who sustained one too many concussions and now struggle to talk and read and write. Humans who've had strokes. Humans who were born unable to talk or hear or speak, and humans who through some accident lost that ability later.
Aliens visit Earth, and do you know what they find? Humanity, in all its wholeness.
#humans are space orcs#humans in space#earth is a deathworld#earth is space australia#tagging this so that ppl can find it even though the space shit i write about always feels like its in direct opposition to all the pop tag#also my biggest pet peeve in all of writing - all writing. everywhere. not just in fanfic but books and tv and movies too - is when people#write off an injury by saying something like 'oh nothing bad just a couple of scratches some bruising and a minor concussion' like girl WHA#MiNOr ConCuSSioN is such an oxymoron and I hate it so fucking much. like i dont care how minor it was thats still brain damage.#especially when the same character does this more than once. like im sorry ms. but uh. you can no longer read. or talk eloquently. sorry#evidence: my brother has had two 'minor' concussions and now cannot read write or speak without tremendous effort. And like its totally#ruined my ability to watch action shows/movies because now i just sit there and count how many concussions there characters are getting#after a certain point it becomes totally impossible to believe that these guys are able to function. (still fun to watch tho im not a hater

"Sunny!" you cry, "Why did you draw the entire Trojan royal family from oldest to youngest in two days? That seems wildly unhealthy!"
"hurghhhhhhhh" I reply.
Anyways here's the full family portrait
(Only four of these people survive the Trojan war btw :D)
#greek mythology#trojan war#iliad#apollart#I'm just gonna tag the people that people know#priam#hecuba#paris iliad#hector#cassandra iliad#helenus#troilus#Also it is true that Hecuba and Priam had 19 kids together (+ Troilus who's Apollo's kid whoops) But not all 19 kids had names#so I stole the names of Priam's other kids for fuznies lol#anyways this was fun I had fun#still going insane over Paris btw might post something silly about that tmrw#Preview: Paris and Apollo are parallels actually but also if they met in modern day they would ruin each others lives#(and the worst part is they would do it out of a genuine wish to become close)#That probably makes no sense but IT WILL TOMORROW IMMA WRITE LIKE 3000 WORDS JUST WATCH ME#Me: I'm writing a Paris essay tmrw /threat

Ok. I am all for giving Veilgaurd the space to be it's own game and appreciate it for what it is, but every time I see a person who openly talks about only getting in to dragon age this year or some other nonsense go off about how long term fans hate the game cause they cant handle change I see red.
I mean, to be a Dragon Age fan, you have to be able to accept change. Change is at the core of the experience. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing is a different question. But if you're a long-term fan of the series, you've succeeded in the task of accepting change.
The criticisms of Veilgaurd are, in my opinion, a little unique to the franchise. For all Inquisition tweaked certain lore and it irritated a lot of people- it did so with self-awareness and intention. I am thinking about how it did the Dalish dirty in many respects. For all I do not agree with that writing direction, the game itself atleast acknowledges it is 1. New information. 2. Dependent on the clan. 3. Gives you the room to roleplay your character according to previously established lore. This is just one example, of course.
Veilgaurd is unique in the fact it ignores much of the series pre-established lore and in no way owns up to it.
I have seen a lot of hateful comments about how Origins hasn't been the framework of the series since 2009. And yeah, sure to a degree that is true. The gameplay certainly got tossed out. But in many ways, Dragon Age 2 is a direct continuation of that world and setting. DA2 and Origins and the lore they established are solid and share a vision. Play as a Mahariel and engage with Merril's clan. It's the same world. The same npc's. Inquisition does not deviate that far from that vision when you look past the companions all playing devil's advocate.
I really don't think everyone disappointed with this game or finding it lacking are "blinded by nostalgia." Most Dragon Age fans will be the first ones to tell you the franchise is a mess. But acting like the games that established it as beloved to it's fans are no longer relevant is so nasty to me. You as a newer fan would not be able to play Veilgaurd if the older fans had not made the previous titles financial successes. If they had not kept the love for the series alive, this new game would never have made it out of development.
The game is good. It's enjoyable to play. It's not without its charms. It should be given room to shine for what it is. It's a miracle we have it given the development journey it went on.
But it's also a massive smack in the face to many people who loved all three previous titles. And that's a bad thing. And I hope future titles remember the lore and tone of the series better.
These two things can both be true.
#dragon age#datv#datv critical#dragon age critical#bioware critical#dragon age the veilgaurd#brekkie thoughts#i know some people are taking the negativity too far and ruining it for folks#but flipside is i have seen a lot of new fans with like a vengeful glee?? about making fun of old fans love of the old games#which ngl i have a bigger problem with that#and so many of these comments come hand in hand with#“i tried to play origins this summer and it's unplayable”#or “i couldnt even finish inquisition because of the fetch quests”#like great im glad you found a dragon age game that speaks to you#but you really dont have the credibility to tell long term supporters of this franchise that their disappointments are childish#like some of us waited over ten years to see these reveals and it's being significantly dampened by the bizareness of dock town being#less aware of it's position in the empire#than kirkwall was of its PREVIOUS position in the empire

Ai art?
Are you fucking joking?
Sorry, no, it is not and I find it so disrespectful you would even think to ask that. I have not and will NEVER touch anything AI related ever in my life, I think it's so utterly pointless and destructive and it frankly makes me wanna kill myself.
So no, it is not and never will be, and you can safely hold that to me for the rest of my existence. I really hope this is the last time someone asks me this.
#I really really hate to have to be that way' but my god#crazy how spending all this time teaching myself how to draw for literally decades-#and now people might just look at my stuff and shrug and go “well' that's cool' but a computer probably made that so I don't care”#not to bring it up again or whatever' but I have legitimately not been this depressed in ages since ai became mainstream#I hope it completely gets wiped off the face of the earth#I frankly do not care what it could/might be useful for#it's so exploitative and toxic and it completely ruins the fun of being a creative in every single way possible#good grief.#sorry lmao#but yeah' fuck no' and please just go through my stuff or my art tag and have a look yourself next time first before asking#that would be lovely

they would get divorced in one universe just to find eachother in another one
alternatively titled: sometimes you're the level-headed token flesh-head impulse-control-and-polycule-member of a stubborn, eccentric, and hearty telephone-headed drug addict, and there's cruelty in the world you deem fit to suicidally fight, and that either goes about as well as you'd expect it to, or you learn about love and the value of your life and junk along the way
#scribbles#milton r wallace#callum crown#phonegingi#sgt norm allen#norm allen#dialtown#dialtown a phone dating sim#..uh idk if callum and milt have a ship name orz#normgingi#milton norm parallels save me. Save me milton norm parallels#very specific but its why i prefer to look at the callum-milt-marla situation as like tragic polyamory#as opposed to a cheating one#it adds to the callum-gingi parallels. theyv both got polycule situations C:#though i suppose you could call a cheating situation a dark parallel to gingi's polycule the same way you could call#milton's entire deal a dark parallel to their relationship with norm/the narrator#However i just like tragic polyamory. my visions of milton and marla ALSO being in love yet having the mutual#realization that they hate callum more than they love eachother (esp milton) is highly specific yet also everything to me#misery loves company and all that jazz. a THIRD combination of people having divorce shit going on#this guys ruining my life IM GONNA FUCK HIS WIFE! (They are already in a consensual polyamorous relationship milton is just making it weird#Sorry these tags were going to be like meaningful discussion about this art and then i was enabled to talk about THIS AGAIN#OH YEAH this art in particular i discovered halftones and also started actually using blending brushes#milts face isnt drawn. obviously. but im imagining a kind of 'oh you!' exasperated fondness#as opposed to norm who's just a cranky little tsundere. jokes on milt though HIS relationship is HEALTHIER#also i will never pass up the chance to draw gingi and callum together#theyr both characters i adore drawing gingi's round shapes and different textures and callums cute little bolts#but also they do look soooo similar and yet so different its always really fun to do#and theyr just. my favs lol. my top 3 favs go gingi-mingus-callum hehe#Ok thats all. thank you for coming to my rambles#fig said i should post my art at better times and so i am and that means when i post my art im AWAKE ENOUGH TO RAMBLE ABOUT IT LOL

Sometimes people come on my humans are space orcs posts and say stuff like "this isn't that weird lots of animals can do this too." My guy you have missed the point of humans are space orcs. Humans are space orcs is based around the idea "what if humans and our abilities are wild and weird and scary to aliens." Often coming hand in hand with the idea that earth is a death world and nothing here is normal. It's about what if what's normal to us is NOT normal to other life forms. You've entirely missed the point.

I just have to say that it's so weird reading how transphobes think of trans bodies as mutilated and gross when they never would have thought my body pre-transition was worthy. The "argument" of mutilated beauty that transphobes have tossed around is just a fear mongering tactic, because they don't tend to actually love or appreciate and see value in bodies that don't "neatly" fit into male and female, with no overlap and no nuances.
#trans#transgender#lgbt#lgbtq#ftm#mtf#nonbinary#i saw so many transphobes agonizing about a trans guy who developed acne from transition...#...they were agonizing about how he ruined his skin and beauty and how *they* didn't find him attractive anymore (how sad /s)#i read that and i realized... pre-transition i had a ton of acne (it's not gotten worse at all so far)#pre-transition i had very broad shoulders (to the point i was made fun of for how i'd act because of my broadness)#pre-transition i inherented most of the traits of the males in my family...#...and if i didn't transition - if i were cis? those same transphobes would think of me just as poorly and they'd hate my body and my soul#because it isn't about 'saving people'. it's about control. it's about manipulating the human experience into two neat boxes#and that excludes people like me. it excludes intersexness and natural variation in human bodies.#transphobia#transphobia tw#like this is shit i knew ever since i first interacted with a transphobe but it to this day blows me away
