I know it feels like you're drowning, and you can't look away from the other bodies in the water, but please allow yourself to come up for breath. I know it feels hard to break away from it all, but for the sake of your mental health, I highly recommend it. You're not betraying any cause by taking care of yourself

I have a new Wild Theory, just in case anyone thought it was safe to come out from behind the sofa (it's not):

If Klaus is indeed aboard Castle Wulfenbach, which I believe he is, and acting under wasp-enforced orders, the question becomes: "Who's giving those orders?"

We've been guided to think about Zola, which is a reasonable guess because we haven't seen her in a while, and she's not just going to conveniently vanish.

But...

I suspect the involvement of Princess Terebithia, because she was last seen with Zola, because we were recently told that she's conveniently missing, and because she scares me.

But that still leaves the question of "How are they giving Klaus orders?" Zola has a Lucrezia copy in her head, but she doesn't sound like Lucrezia as far as I know. She doesn't have the Command Voice.

...you know who did have the Command Voice? And who Terebithia in particular might have managed to get hold of?

And who would be a fantastically out-of-nowhere player to reenter the game at this point?

So here's my math:

Terebithia would have had access to Sturmhalten, where clank Anevka's head was stored. (It's controlled by the Empire, but it's her family's castle.)

Anevka has the Command Voice and can command revenants (thanks, Tarvek).

Anevka could give Klaus orders under her grandmother's instruction.

Anevka sounds like the Other - because the version of the Other that Wulfenbach troops have encountered most is Agatha. Anevka has Agatha's voice. So that could be affecting the reports coming off of Castle Wulfenbach from the evacuees right now.

...

This could be nothing more mysterious than a Valois power play...and I notice Martellus is oh-so-conveniently right here to take command if the opportunity presents itself. If his family has - without his knowledge, I think - set the stage for him to do so.

But. Yeah.

Who could be giving Klaus orders?

Zola to provide the information about useful pawns from her copy of Lucrezia. Terebithia to organize and plan. And Anevka to give the orders to all these wasped revenants who've been in motion lately...

While Sarkaz aging is generally weird, it always gets me that these two are of similar age:

Both of them were born over 200 years ago, around the time of Kazdel campaign of 898. At least it was established as far back as A Walk in the Dust that Banshees stay young for a very long time, and in Patriot's case we don't actually see his face...

But then we have stuff like 40+ Odda looking much younger than 30+ Hoederer:

I guess, you can handwave Warfarin and Logos since they belong to ancient bloodlines and, based on backstory, Teekaz could live for a thousand years... But then Patriot should also look young-adult-ish under his helmet, and this thought is just cursed.

there's a type of tumblr funnyperson who's never posted explicit hate/exclusionism towards asexuals and other a-specs... and yet, they like to make up a guy. where the type of guy they always make up undermines any trust a-specs might've otherwise had for them. for example, a common post format is making up a hypothetical tumblr user's bio that's obviously just so cringe, according to the sensibilities of everyone reading — wherein the implied joke is how we've all seen someone in the wild who's cringe like this, right?

these posts always feel the need to slide some a-spec microlabel in there. a lot of the time, it's specifically an ace-spec microlabel plus "heteroromantic," especially if they think that the guy they're making up is trying to be a real special snowflake. to round out the "cringe," they usually pepper in at least one element from the set of: neopronouns, a namedropped mental illness, and a piece of media that's targeted at children/popular for tumblr to hate at the time.

then a zillion people reblog that post, all agreeing haha that's so cringe, and a million a-spec people (and nonbinary and autistic people) shudder — because are they the butt of the joke, to the people reblogging it? or are the people reblogging just laughing about a different element, like a comically long DNI or something, which has distracted them from noticing the fact that OP clearly associates a-spec identities with "cringe"?

if any a-spec people point this out about OP, or ask a reblogger if they support ace people, they are inevitably accused of overreacting — which is great for the aphobes, because they get a new "cringe" a-spec person to point and laugh at. it's just such a nasty cycle, and even people who wouldn't consider themselves aphobes aren't great at noticing and interrogating it.

Okay, now for a bit of context! I was talking to a friend of mine earlier today about it being the anniversary of Kingdom Hearts 0.2, and that led on to her tracking down some of the earliest tweets made by the official account after Anti-Aqua was first revealed in a KH3 trailer. In those, I noticed that one of the quotes used is written slightly differently to how it ended up appearing in the final game.

"All that's left in my heart is misery and despair, and I want you to feel it!" (in the final game, the second part is instead "..and now, you can share it!")

In the game's context, an angry and vehement line from Aqua reflecting the negativity and darkness her heart has been corrupted by. "I want you [Mickey and Sora and so on] to feel as pained as your actions have made me feel from you abandoning me in the dark".

But the selfsame words, I realised, could actually be said in a much more.. vulnerable tone, for lack of a better word for it. "I want you [Aria] to feel how conflicted and troubled I am right now, because I feel able to open up and be vulnerable to you about this thing that I really do not want happening; this is all I have left and I want to admit that to you".

There is no situation in which Aqua would want to fall to darkness. Even after she comes to accept that Aria wields it - is it, really - for decent purposes, she still doesn't want to end up that same way, because it goes against everything she'd ever been taught by her late master. So, in a situation where it does nevertheless end up happening, from the toll that being trapped in the realm of darkness has on her.. she's going to feel like she's failed to fight back against it, but Aria is there to help reassure her that whatever she's feeling is allowed and okay, and she doesn't have to bottle up her negative emotions in the hope that'll make them go away. And she(?)'s there to support her no matter what, whether it's in trying to keep her light safe or in simply making sure that, if she does have to fall to darkness, it's as gently and safely as she(?) can possibly make the process.

I just thought it was a neat bit of imagery, and it inspired me to make my first new selfship render of the year, so here we are ^-^
