THE GUIDE AND THE LIGHT: SEASON ONE, EPISODE ONE
The Guide and The Light are a series of comedic, romantic and soft short stories detailing the representation Muslims want but are never allowed to have. We all deserve to see ourselves fall in love and keep that love. We all deserve to have our beliefs respected and celebrated, instead of treated like a joke or insulted.
It's about giving my community what they want and turning conversations that shouldn't have happened in public into something we can all smile at. I hope you enjoy.

EPISODE ONE: PILOT/THE WEDDING
SYNPOSIS: IT'S TIME FOR YAHYA AND NOOR TO GET MARRIED. BUT IF NO DAY CAN EVER BE TRULY PERFECT, THEN WHAT SHENAGIANS WILL OCCUR? AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, SHOULD ANYONE BE ALLOWED TO BE AS CUTE AS THESE TWO ARE?
It was the perfect day for a wedding. The sun was shining, the skies were clear- but not too clear- and it was the most comforting warmth the world had ever known.
But nothing in life was ever perfect. That was asking for too much. That was detracting from the beauty of being human. That was simply impossible. So, although it was the perfect day for a wedding, the weddings taking place were not going quite according to plan.
For Yahya and Noor, it meant things were not running on time. Which was normal, and their families had been expecting for things to be running even later than they were. But for Yahya, who had been dressed since mid-afternoon and had nothing to do since the walima was his responsibility and his almost father-in-law kept stopping him from helping, there was nothing left to do but twiddle his thumbs and remember how to say yes. And for Noor, who had created a spreadsheet to remember what times she had told people the wedding was starting, there was no reason for things to be running so behind schedule.
She told her sister as much.
“Noor, you probably built time in for us to run late. Also, don’t you always tell yourself one time knowing you’ll get out five minutes later?” Was her response.
Noor would’ve made a comment, but the make-up artist told her to smile so she could apply the blush and then the moment passed.
When her make-up was finished, and her dupatta draped over her head to cover her hair as she had instructed, she stood up.
“Sit back down!” Her sister, Khadija, shouted.
“Why?” Noor just wanted to sign the documents, give her consent, and move on with the day. The snacks she’d packed would only keep her appetite at bay for so long.
“It’s not ready yet.”
“Bajhi. I’m the bride and I’m ready. What else could possibly be needed?”
Khadija just looked at her. “I’m not dumb enough to tell you.”
Noor sighed and reached for her phone. Ten minutes behind schedule wasn’t bad. And it wasn’t reason to get frustrated with anyone. Khadija had been half right. When she had outlined the timeline of the day, she had built in time between events for them to run late. But it wasn’t five minutes. It was thirty.
She may have been organised, but her family were not.
“Hey. Is this really agitating?” Khadija asked.
Noor put her phone down. “No. Never. I’m getting married, and you’re here keeping me company. It would never be agitating.”
“Okay. Good. I promise we’ll be ready soon.”
And although her sister wasn’t the best judge of time, she wasn’t one to lie. So Noor smiled and squeezed her hand, aware that soon, the engagement ring would be around her neck and replaced with a silver band, it’s pair on Yahya’s finger for as long as they were meant to be together.
Ten minutes later, her sister stood up and closed the door behind her. Noor turned her head both ways to make sure her hair was suitably covered. When Khadija came back in, she was smiling.
“It’s time.”
They were having the Nikkah done in a separate room to the wedding reception. Yahya and Noor had specifically requested that. They wanted it to be done surrounded by their closest family, so the memory would be private and personal. It would just be them, the imam, their parents, siblings, and immediate aunts and uncles. As well as their cousins.
So it wasn’t as small as some intimate ceremonies, but they weren’t going to do it any other way.
Noor’s parents were waiting outside.
“Yahya just went inside. Are you ready?” Her dad asked.
She nodded, unable to keep the smile off her face. She had been practicing her solemn expression, as well as her soft smiles, but she couldn’t hide the joy. She was going to be married soon. She was going to be a wife.
Khadija walked in front of her. Noor’s parents held onto each of her arms, a gentle pressure. They didn’t get up on the stage with her. She sat opposite Yahya, who smiled shyly. She grinned back as the flash of a camera went off. And then she turned and saw the start of their new family as everyone stood together.
The imam was sat between them. “Are you both ready?”
They nodded in sync.
He stood up. “Salam everyone. As you’re aware, given the level of beauty in the clothes we’re all currently wearing, we’re here because Yahya and Noor have decided to get married. We will conduct the ceremony as is ordinarily done, and I will deliver a speech to the guests once everybody is sat down together in the reception venue. Good?”
“Yes!” Noor’s cousin shouted.
It removed any nerves.
“Excellent! Okay, if I could have the witnesses on stage please.”
Both fathers smiled at each other as they got on.
Noor had already read the marriage contract through. It was standard things in there, with very few additional clauses. The one that had made her laugh was about her hijab. Yahya was very politely asking her to only remove it if she felt like she had to, but that the definition of that excluded a white man announcing his feelings for her.
Yahya had also read the contract properly. Noor had said he was allowed one wife- which was fine by him because he knew he didn’t have the desire or capacity for more- and that if he was to become a politician, she would divorce him. He also understood that one. It had still been endearing to read though. They had planned for a future, and it was all about to become real.
“Noor.”
The sound of his almost-wife’s name pulled him from his thoughts.
Noor turned to face the imam. Her face glowed with joy and Yahya sat quietly as he admired her clothes. Her heel was slightly visible under the skirt of her lehenga. It was the perfect match to the golden embellishment across her clothes.
“I accept,” she repeated, all three times, when she was prompted to do so.
Yahya did the same.
The imam smiled and handed them both pens to sign the contract. Although the photographer was capturing the moment, Yahya knew the photos would never be shared beyond the people in the room. Nobody needed to know they signed their marriage contract with basic biros.
“Everyone cheer! They’re officially married! Yahya. Noor. The relationship between you is halal. Go wild, but not too wild because you know, people need time to adjust to the new situation and you deserve some time as just Yahya and Noor. You get me?”
Noor nodded as though it was a common conversation for her to have. Yahya just blinked a few times and smiled, mildly uncomfortable at seeing his former masjid teacher treat him like an adult man with a wife.
Oh.
“Well. We’re going to head to the hall to make sure everyone’s settled and ready, and then I’ll come back and grab the both of you so you can have your big entrance. We shouldn’t be more than fifteen minutes,” Khadija told them.
When Noor had booked the rooms, she had factored in forty-five minutes for this exact moment. But she wasn’t about to say that so she just nodded.
The imam closed the door behind him.
“Hi husband,” Noor said once the footsteps faded. She had moved to sit where the imam had waited. It meant that when Yahya looked up with softness all across his face, he was staring directly at her face.
“Hi wife,” he whispered, as though he couldn’t quite believe it was real.
Noor stared at him for a few moments more and then started giggling. “I can’t quite believe that we’re married.”
“Neither can I,” he said.
Noor closed the space between them by taking his hand and placing it in hers. Yahya had never believed in perfection, but the way they seemed to fit together so perfectly had him convinced it could be created.
“You look very handsome by the way,” Noor told him after a few minutes of drawing circles on his hand.
“Oh. Thank you. You look beautiful. Truly.”
Noor smiled, her hand still in his. Yahya marvelled at the softness. Even sitting down, he was still slightly taller than her. They were so close, and there was nobody around. So he leant over and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. She exhaled as he pulled back.
“That was nice,” she told him.
He smiled, feeling less anxious about being a husband already. “I’m glad. I don’t really know what I’m doing.”
“And you think I do?”
It was a teasing remark, but a genuine reminder. It eliminated the rest of the anxiety, and he wasn’t even shaking as they walked in together, their favourite nasheed playing as they climbed onto the second stage of the day.
Noor’s hand in his was a grounding and steady pressure. He shifted the way he was holding her to press his fingers against her wrist. Her pulse was steady, and he found himself breathing to match it. He hoped the rest of their lives would be like that as well: complementary and easy.
“I know everyone wants their food, but Yahya did specifically ask me to say a few words and lead everyone in dua first. That’s right- this came from the groom and has religious significance so you cannot complain.”
There was laughter all around.
“Marriage, as we all know, is an important part of Islam. But it’s not just about saying you’re husband and wife. It’s about being husband and wife. It’s about protecting each other. It’s about looking after each other the best you can, and facing things as a team. Marriage is about supporting each other through the good and bad times and meeting your loved one where they are. It’s not always easy. It’s not always fun. But it’s worth it. Allah will not give you what is bad for you, and Allah will not give you more than what you can handle. I want everyone, including our newly-weds, to hold onto that as best they can, even when it’s hard. Because it’s true.”
People were nodding along. Noor watched Yahya with love in her eyes, because she had no idea what to expect from the speech. Even Yahya seemed shocked by the care with which it was being delivered.
“Yahya, may you guide your wife to be better than she is now so you may both be rewarded. Noor, may you be the light of your husband’s eyes so he never loses the love in his face. May you both be good to each other for so long as it is right. May your marriage be filled with love, lightness and laughter for as long as it lasts. And may Allah make it easy on you both to build a life together. Ameen.”
“Ameen,” echoed around the room, and even the imam had tears in his eyes.
It wasn’t everyday you were aware of the number of people that were praying for you to have a good life.
“Right, and now that I’ve grown tired of the sound of my voice, food!”
There were laughs from everyone, and the flash of camera as more and more candid moments were captured.
“I must say, as exciting as today has been, I am ready to go to sleep,” Noor whispered, as Yahya gave her the perfect portion of rice.
“Would you like me to find you some coffee so you can get through the next few hours?” He asked, only half-joking.
“I have all the energy I could possibly need because you’re here,” she told him, not joking at all. He ducked his head, but the wide smile was still visible.
There wasn’t a single solemn photo taken. Noor’s first and new mother had never been happier.
Eventually, people started to say their goodbyes and the only people left were the immediate family.
“Are you ready?” Yahya asked, taking Noor’s hand.
For the first time that night, she felt nervous. But Yahya was rubbing across her wrist the way she had done for him earlier. It had been an unconscious thing that she had hoped would ground him in the moment. And it was doing the same for her. She didn’t need to think about anything but getting off the stage and following her family out.
“We’re going to miss you so much,” Khadija told her.
Noor laughed, grateful that her sister wouldn’t let her cry. “You haven’t lived with me for three years. And you’re going to see my next weekend for the walima anyways. It’s just six days, and we’ll be at work for five of them.”
Khadija shrugged. “You know what I mean.”
And Noor did. She had to build a life with Yahya. She had to meet his family, and make sure they got time as a couple. He had to do the same, but it was different for him. He’d already moved out once they got engaged so him and Noor would have somewhere to live together after the wedding. Noor hadn’t.
“Be good to each other,” Yahya’s dad said, hugging them both.
Yahya nodded, wiping at his eyes before anyone could comment. Noor frowned slightly, hoping he knew it was okay to be emotional. But he looked at her and nodded, as though he could already read her mind and she realised it was less about embarrassment and more about not wanting to have red eyes or tear-stained cheeks the entire night.
It made her smile though. Knowing that he wasn’t a pretty crier either.
“Well, I’m ready when you are,” Yahya said.
Noor turned around to wave at her family one last time.
Then she let Yahya help her into the backseat, grinning when he left the middle one empty so they could be comfortable. He smiled just as wide as he placed his hand in the gap between them, hers already there and waiting.
It had started to rain. But as they pulled up to the hotel, both more than ready to get into their room so they could change out of their clothes and so excited to go to sleep because nobody ever warned them about how exhausting it was to get married, it didn’t even matter. They just climbed out the car as quickly as they could and ran inside, not even caring that they were probably getting wetter than if they had just walked.
“Goodnight husband,” Noor said as Yahya turned the main light off.
“Goodnight wife,” he whispered, kissing her forehead once more before settling in next to her.
Before they fell asleep, Yahya and Noor both thought about the events of the day, still so shocked by everything that had happened. They both felt like they had looked amazing. The water pressure had been lacking. The food was better than when they had been looking at caterers. They had never been so exhausted before. Although the cake had almost been destroyed, it hadn’t been and everyone loved it. It had started raining and their clothes were never going to get dry without an actual rack. They had actually gotten married.
So, it wasn’t perfect.
But it was as close to ideal as life would ever get.
buy me a ko-fi!

Hello,❤
No one donates to me 😢 please help me to make them pls donate to me share my link.🙏💔
📍I swear I will tell you my real story.🙏❤️
🌧️💔 I am Noor, a girl from Gaza, living in extremely harsh conditions. 🏚️ We lost our home to destruction and left everything behind, and the feeling of loss fills my heart. 💔 I am married and a mother to a baby girl, Lin, who is 11 months old. 🌼
📎My husband, Yousef, has been unemployed for a long time, and we suffer from a lack of support. We are living in a fabric tent that does not protect us from the harsh winter cold, and we feel like we are living out in the open, exposed to the winds. ❄️
My baby girl, Lin, is in dire need of milk 🍼 and diapers, but we have no income to buy the basic necessities to ensure her safety. The price of diapers is 100$, and the milk is 50$, which is far beyond our means. 😔
We have been displaced several times, and each time we are forced to leave our lives and belongings behind. We feel like we are starving, and we don’t even have appropriate clothes to face the severe winter cold. 👚❄️ Every passing day, my fears about Lin’s future grow, and I am frightened that I could lose her. 😢
Please, if you can help, we are in desperate need of your support. Every donation will help save our lives and build a beautiful future for us all. 💖🙏
We cannot get through this crisis without your support. Let’s together build a new hope, and please don’t hesitate to assist us. Thank you. 💞✨
📍If you can do something, now is the time. Donate through the special support link, and let hope light up our lives again.🙏😭

A woman has been found guilty of handing over a three-year-old British girl for female genital mutilation (FGM) during a trip to Kenya, in the first conviction of its kind.
After a trial at the Old Bailey, Amina Noor, 39, was convicted of assisting a Kenyan woman to carry out the procedure in 2006. The conviction, which carries a maximum sentence of 14 years, is the first for assisting in such harm under the Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003.
The only other successful prosecution under the act was in 2019 when a Ugandan woman from Walthamstow, east London, was jailed for 11 years for cutting a three-year-old girl.
Campaigners said the verdict showed that the introduction in 2015 of mandatory reporting of suspected FGM was working.
The senior crown prosecutor Patricia Strobino hailed Noor’s conviction, saying: “This kind of case will hopefully encourage potential victims and survivors of FGM to come forward, safe in the knowledge that they are supported, believed and also are able to speak their truth about what’s actually happened to them.
“It will also send a clear message to those prospective defendants or people that want to maintain this practice that it doesn’t matter whether they assist or practise or maintain this practice within the UK or overseas, they are likely to be prosecuted.”
Strobino added: “Part of the challenge of this type of offence is the fact that these types of offences occur in secrecy. Within specific communities within the UK, although these offences and practices are prevalent, it is often very difficult to get individuals to come forward to explain the circumstances of what’s happened to them because there was a fear that they may be excluded or pushed away or shunned, isolated from their community.”
Previously, the prosecutor Deanna Heer KC said Noor travelled to Kenya with the girl in 2006 and while there took her to a private house where the child was subjected to FGM.
The crime only came to light years later when the girl was 16 and confided in her English teacher at school.
When spoken to, the defendant said she thought the procedure was just an injection and that afterwards the girl was “happy and able to run around and play”. But when examined in 2019, it emerged that the girl’s clitoris had been removed.
Noor appeared “shocked and upset” and said that was not what she had thought was going to happen, Heer said. According to an initial account, Noor described going with another woman to a “clinic” where the girl was called into a room for a procedure.
The defendant said she was invited in but refused because she was “scared and worried”. Afterwards, the girl appeared quiet and cried the whole night and complained of pain, according to the account.
In a later police interview under caution, Noor denied that anyone had made threats against her before FGM was done to the girl.
Heer said: “She was asked whether, when she arrived at the clinic or even before then, she felt she did not want it to happen. She said: ‘Yeah I thought about it but then, you know, got it done.’”
Jurors were told the defendant was born in Somalia and moved to Kenya at the age of eight during the civil war in Somalia. She was 16 when she came to the UK and was later granted British citizenship.
The defendant described what had been done to the girl as “Sunnah”, meaning “tradition” or “way” in Arabic, and said it was a practice that had gone on for cultural reasons for many years.
Giving evidence in her trial, Noor, from Harrow, in north-west London, said she was threatened with being “cursed” and “disowned” within her community if she did not take part. She told jurors that the threat gave her “pain”, adding: “That was a pressure I had no power to do anything about.”
The alleged victim, who is now 21, cannot be identified for legal reasons.
Nimco Ali, an FGM survivor who founded the Five Foundation, a global partnership to end the cutting of girls, welcomed the verdict.
She said: “It is incredible that the mandatory reporting by teachers and healthcare professionals – that we have fought hard for – is starting to pay off. A girl was obviously failed. She was let down by the system but she got some form of justice today thanks to the policies that we now have in place.”
She added: “We have to address FGM in the UK and everywhere by working together to address the root causes of the issue.”
Research in 2014 estimated that 137,000 women and girls are affected by FGM in England and Wales. Ali said this estimate needed updating urgently.

Okay, I'm going to attempt to design Shahrzad's daughter, Leila Bint Shahrzad. (A quick name explanation: Leila means “night” in Arabic, and bint just means “daughter of,” and Shahrzad is obviously her mother.) First, let me paint you a picture of the personality I'm envisioning for her.
For starters, she doesn't attend Ever After High; she goes to a different school called A Thousand and One High. So, her destiny works a bit differently than the other characters. In that everyone in her school stories depend on the success of her story, she is both a narrator and a character in her own story. Her destiny is to marry her Shahryar and delay her execution for a thousand and one nights by telling the stories of everyone in her school until Shahryar grows fond of her and changes his mind about killing her.
Even though she loves all of her stories and has memorized the plots of all of them—her favorites being the sci-fi ones (in case you didn't know, yes, there are some sci-fi stories within the Thousand and One Nights)—she is not confident in her abilities as a storyteller. Even though she's been practicing ever since she was a child, she's terrified of letting her mother down, especially with her mother being the headmaster of her school. While she's clever, quick-witted, and resourceful, she is terrified of the heavy burden her destiny entails. “What if I'm not good enough?” “What if I mess up some of the stories and they go poof because of me?” “The fate of over 200 stories rests on my shoulders to keep them going.” “If I mess up a single story, will that end it all?” she lays awake at night, horrified by the weight of responsibility on her.
She lives in this state for a long time until one day she hears about a girl who refused to follow her destiny without her story going poof at a school far away called Ever After High. She then feels inspired to go to that school and do the same thing as the girl she heard about. She asks her mother if she can attend that school, and her mother agrees since the headmaster of Ever After High is an old friend of hers. She hopes he can set her daughter back on the right track, so she allows her daughter to go to Ever After High along with her best friend, Noor Ad-Din, daughter of Ala Ad-Din. (I refuse to spell it the fucked up way Disney spells it; like write it as the two words that it is. I could rant about this for days, but I'll spare you. I also split it to make Ad-Din the last name. Oh and Noor means “light” in Arabic like light from a lamp.)
That's what I have so far. I'm hoping to create a design that I like and one that is as detailed as a real EAH design.

Meanwhile, With Tommy and Kamran (Part 4)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Jeff wasn't sure what he was going to be met with when he came home.
After Rebecca's ominous text, he'd obviously called her, confused. And the answers he got really didn't feel like much of an improvement. He was still reeling from the story about the possibly-corrupt government-approved child torture lab escapees they were now harboring when he stepped inside his house.
To find one of said child torture lab escapees hovering by the kitchen door.
"Uh, hi!" he looked up, caught like a deer in headlights for a brief second before readjusting into an easy smile and crossing his arms in a facsimile of casualness. "I was just- y'know. Wondering if I could trouble you guys for a glass of water."
He really looked so much like William.
"Help yourself," he settled on saying. The boy beamed and darted in, so fast he was basically a blur, until he settled back outside the kitchen with two glasses of water. One he drank for himself, the other he handed to the other boy sitting on the couch, who wasn't even hiding his discomfort with the situation.
"Okay, boys, I've gotten some clothes for you," Rebecca entered the room with two sets of shirts and pants. "The jumpsuits are going to make it hard for you to blend in with other people. Kamran, any luck with your friends in Jersey City?"
"Her phone's off," the one who didn't look like William said, knee jumping a little.
"You really don't have to bother with this, Mrs K," the carbon copy assured. "I bet it's perfectly fine."
"Okay then, if you're sure. Wash up and change," Rebecca decided, "Bathroom's upstairs, left side of the hall. Stay the night, and we'll try and get you on a bus out tomorrow."
The two nodded, and Tommy left behind a silver and green trail, already vanished. Kamran followed at a pace actually traceable by the human eye.
Rebecca turned away to check her phone with a frustrated sigh, "And where's William?"
"You still haven't heard from him?" Jeff's concern was rising.
She shook her head. "Even Eddie isn't answering!"
Something clunked from the front of the house, and they both rushed to it, nerves worn thin.
Kamran was standing apologetically at the foot of the stairs. Which was now covered by a weird, translucent blue wall.
Jeff almost thought it was the boy's crystal powers, but the color wasn't right, nor was the wall spiky, like all the other constructs were.
This one, by all means, looked like a piece of glass, with some pattern engraved on it. Tommy appeared on the other side, pressing his hand against it, and marveling as it let him through. Only Kamran was stopped.
"I've never seen that before in my life," Jeff looked at it, hesitating to touch the thing too, but finding that his hand went through easily as well.
Kamran hummed, then rolled back his sleeve, to reveal a tattoo of some sort of writing in a script Jeff didn't recognize. That didn't matter as much as the fact that it was glowing.
"Ooh, what's this?" Tommy looked at it over his shoulder.
"Poetry from my mother's home. Love – through light – perseveres. Arabic script." he ran a hand over it. "When exposed to Noor, it turns into a type of protective enchantment."
"From stairs?" Tommy snorted.
Kamran didn't humor him, instead turning to Jeff and Rebecca with deadly seriousness. "Is there a witch in this house?"

Royal Wedding in Amman | By Rami G. Khouri, June 16, 1978
An American girl became a queen yeaterday as 26-year-old Princeton University architecture graduate Lisa Halaby took the name of Noor al Hussein, the faith of Islam and the hand in marriage of King Hussein, ruler of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordon.
The new queen's mother was barred from the four-minute ceremony itself - Koranic law dictates that the bride be the only female present - but the new queen beamed radiantly down at her two-inches-shorter, 16-years-older royal husband at a reception afterward attended by some 500 friends and relations. Soft drinks subbed for champagne at the reception, though, as Moslem law again prevailed.
Queen Noor, whom Jordonian officialdom had reffered to earlier as "Moslem Miss Noor Halaby," had converted to her husband's faith. she had been expected to attain the rank of "pricess" because she was not an Arab, but was dubbed his queen by the Jordanian monarch. Only one other of his four wives, the late Queen Alia, a Palestinian, had been so honored.
But Queen Noor's Arab ancestry - her father was of Syrian descent - had been played up by the state-run media since her engagement to the king was announced, and, of course, it is all up to the king as to visit what he wishes to name his wife.
The bride smiling throughout the ceremony and the two-hour reception that followed was dressed in a white Christian Dior wedding gown and had a women band of white flowers holding in her long blond hair in place.
Diamond earrings and bracelets added sparkle to her composure, as she and the king posed for photographers immediately after the wedding ceremony.
Queen Noor - her name means "Light of Hussein" - was visibly settling comfortably into her new role, and she and the king exchanged frequent glances and comments that grinning broadly.
Five hundred guests waited for them on the lawn of the Zahran Palace, home of the queen mother and traditional site of royal marriages. The couple emerged to cut the seventier one-yard-high fruitcake wedding cake with a golden Hashemite sword, and mingled for 10 minutes with the royal family that had gathered to congratulate them.
The casual, happy atmosphere of the occasion was captured decisively when one of the king's young daugthers from a previous marriage rushed up to Queen Noor and exclaimed "I really like your dress," for which she was rewarded with an equally enthusiastic embrace, and a hug and a kiss from the king. Queen Noor had helped design the gown.
The guests included the elite of Jordonian society, the diplomatic corps, government officials, senior officers of the armed forces and selected friends of the new queen. But no foreign guests were to be seen aside from the Halaby family, Mrs. Cyrus Vance and a handful of the queen's friends from the United States. Oneof Hussein's ex-wives, the English-born Princess Muna, was also present. The former Toni Gardner, she now lives in London but returns frequently to Amman where she still has a palace.
Smartly dressed, flag-bearing troops of the Hashmeite horse guard flanked the entrance to the Zahran palace, in Amman's most exclusive residential neighborhood, while the armed forces band played lively music in the background and tough Bedouin security forces got caught up in the general gaiety around and continually preventing photographers from swarming over the royal couple.
The father of Queen Noor, former Pan American Airlines chairman Naheeb Habaly, said "We have feelings of pride, pleasure and some anxiety," and revealed that the king and queen will visit the United States before the end of the year "so she can have an American-style reception in Washington for all our friends in the United States."
The wedding ceremony itself was a traditional all-male affair, with the king and his bride sitting together on a settee flanked by the chief justice of Jordon's highest Islamic court; Crown Prince Hassan and Prince Mohammad, and the bride's father, with his gray business suit and black bow tie.
The king first signed three copies of the marriage contract, and Habaly followed suit, signing in Arabic to the left of the king's signature. The chief justice, Ibrahim Qatan, then recited the couple repeated. The vows derived from the Koran, the Islamic holy book, simply stake that the couple has been married according to the agreements reached between them them in the marriage contract and according to the laws of God and his prophet.
Then, the royal couple, with the king at the wheel of their silver Mercedes 600 limousine, drove out of the palace grounds and off to an undisclosed destination, followed by the usual contingent of two security cars, and the cheers and quiet clapping of the several hundred guests who gathered at the gate to see them off.
There was a festive feeling throughout Amman today, but no special decorations or signs of public celebration, in keeping with the wishes of the newlyweds for a low-key ceremony. Newspapers were filled with notices of congratulations from citizens throughout the country, and some shopfronts and taxicab windows sported large black-and-white pictures of the king and queen. Otherwise, life in the Jordanian capital went on as usual. (Washington Post)

Promise
Noor gets into a car.
Belongs vaguely to the [Pet Safety] series, set right after [Raid].
The concept of demo pets is something @ashintheairlikesnow came up with like 3 years ago, and I loved it, so now it found its way into my BBU as well.
Content: BBU, BBU recovery, runaway, implied forced prostitution.
Agile. That had been one of his main selling points, his entire life. Agile, flexible, eager to please. He'd heard that so often, it had become his mantra. 900014, we call him Noor, he's a perfect romantic, agile, flexible, eager to please, why don't you spend some time with him and if you're content, we'll have a look at the full product catalogue later.
Agile, flexible, and fast. Noor had made it out of that window and down to the road almost soundlessly, hidden in the shadows between the flashing blue lights of the police cars parked on the other side of the building.
Noor's new home, one of the people who ran the place had said, with a sarcastic smile that had made it sound like a particularly cruel joke. Noor hadn't gotten it, though. Home. The word didn't mean anything to him. He knew everyone strived for having one, especially the other pets. Everyone dreamt of having a home, having an owner. Normal pets got to have that, eventually. Demo pets didn't. Demo pets had a small cell that they slept in, and a nicer room that they performed in.
Noor didn't know what a home was, but he knew what wasn't. WRU facilities weren't it, and neither was the building behind him. His life had been mostly the same here. Sleep, eat, fuck, make someone else earn money, survive.
That's Noor, boss stole him from WRU. Absolute high end material. Best of the best. Agile, flexible, needy.
The clients at WRU had been better groomed, more subtle in their cruelty. The clients here had been simpler, straight-forward in getting what they wanted.
Noor wouldn't miss either.
You've run away once, the WRU handler had said. You can do it again.
His back pressed to the wall, he could see the red car. There was a person sitting in it, another leaning to the door and peering towards the building, both of them highly alert.
You'll be safe, the man had said.
Safe. Another word that others gave so much meaning, that didn't hold any to Noor.
He'd always been safe, or never. Always been at home, or never. When he looked back and forth, pushed himself off the wall to sneak towards the car, it wasn't because he hoped for a home, or for safety. It was because the man in the house had talked to him. To him, not about him. Without demanding anything in return.
The person next to the red car noticed him approach and opened the door, almost casually, while the motor sprang to life. She smiled, as she gestured at the door. Noor smiled back. He didn't get into the red car for the vague promise of an empty word. He got in for the promise of a difference. It was enough.

Can't contain myself anymore. Here's the silly sona I made + info because I want to ramble about them
[Click for better quality]
◇ Noor ("Nur") is an unisex arabic name which means "light", "candle" or "The Divine Light". I wanted to put something else on their design about arabic culture since in my country there's a lot of it in our roots (the Al-Andalus era) but I'll make another outfit for that. And they have a surname but I haven't decided yet.
Edit: apparently his name meaning is similar to Tomoshibi. That was not planned but I'm not complaining 😂
◇ Uses he/they/she in that order of preference, though not many close to them uses she/her. Ok with being treated as a girl but most treat Noor as a boy; Arajin got shocked by this because he thought Noor was just a tomboy who uses "boku" (technically he's not wrong because Noor can be a tomboy and a femboy)
◇ Around 5'4" or 5'5" (164-167cm). Much shorter than most guys at school yeah
◇ In their right shoulder they have tattoo with the sentence "The warmth of devotion" written below. Made it because I liked the idea of a tattoo kind of opposite / inspired by Marito's
◇ Under that ripped seifuku shirt they wear a turtleneck crop top. A crop top below a crop top lol
◇ Noor also wears Pompompurin socks (real ones you can find on Miniso); sailor moon sneakers (based on real ones but don't look the same) and a "devil eye" wristband on her right arm, jewellery which supposedly protects you from negative energy and bad luck. His character design was originally thought to be inspired by one animal but it has three
◇ Repeated first year in highschool so he's a year older than the freshmen. Went with somebody else to the same middle school. Friends with Matakara, Komao and Zabu (although he teases and bickers with Zabu a lot so it may don't look like they are friends from the outside, more like they hate each other)
◇ Rumours say he joined Minato Kai because of shoujo manga but that's not true. Technically
◇ Prefers to use his legs on fights than punching but can and will do both. A very dirty opponent because except weapons Noor will use anything to win, be it biting, scratching, using his doe-eyed looks... They don't follow a fighting style per se, just attack with their all however he sees fit
◇ If I had to guess Noor could probably beat Mahoro, Tatsuto and present Arajin (without Senya's powers) in a fight; the result could be the same against Komao or Zabu, but he would struggle much more and he would lose against anyone in Matakara's level or stronger like the gang leaders. May be able to take two average strong opponents in a fight but chances are they lose against more than two. Prefers one on one combats
◇ I usually don't use Japanese honorifics in my comics or tags but Noor could be called "Noor-pyon" by Komao, "Noory-chan" by Matakara and have another nickname by Marito (in a hypothetical world where he likes this boyfailure)
#artists on tumblr#my art#nonokoko's art#♡ — my art#♡ — my ocs#bucchigiri?!#bucchigiri oc#oc : noor#I wanna draw them more tbh#may post more tomorrow#their mouth is not always cat shaped I just felt like making it like that#and their eyes usually don't have that much light I just wanted to draw him similar to the series style#do me a favour and don't look too much into the doddles anatomy it sucks 😂#this is all I remember rn. day 1 of recovery
If anything headcanons might make me feel better.
When no one suspects it Enoch and Claire pull pranks on almost everyone they know, and no one suspects a thing.
When Millard was reading books from the present he figured out that there where a lot of "queers" in the books that weren't getting bullied, treated like and disease and all that stuff. Then he found out being queer wasn't illegal anymore. He was a bit surprised but was cool with it.
Sometimes Fiona plays with Olive and Claire, and almost everytime she gets treated like a queen.
One time Miss Peregrine told Olive and Claire no more sweets until tomorrow, but then Claire and Olive stole one cookie each. (Claire was a "rebel")
Enoch has a locket of Francesca. Like those heart lockets with a picture inside. One side of the picture is him and the otherside is Francesca.
Bronwyn has star collection. She collects stars or just anything that looks like a star to her.
Fiona made a plant one time and Horace thought it was a vegetable and ate it. The plant was poisonous and Horace survived but is now VERY hesitant to eat vegetables or fruit.
Hugh had a popsicle (no bite just a WHOLE popsicle) and dropped it and cried the whole day. Fiona thought he was a wimp but helped him through the "mourning" nonetheless. Claire and Fiona gossip-ed about this and Claire couldn't help but laugh the whole time.
Horace asked Jacob what did "zesty" mean because while he was walking in the present some person called him "the Zestiest fruit they have every seen walking up the street." Jacob started laughing crying and hold him not to worry about it (he told Noor and she started laughing crying as well.)
Enoch had an emo phase once Jacob had introduced him to MCR.
Emma has an obsession towards dogs. Bronwyn has an obsession towards cats. Emma and Bronwyn share the images of funny cats and dogs together.
Millard is the "Um actually" dude.
