"The bigots up top think we're ALL fucked up! They want us ALL dead!" Hey that's cool dude you're right! Now are you saying this as a genuine expression of solidarity and community, or do you only bring this point up when the acknowledgement of intersectionality makes you uncomfortable? Is it a rallying cry, or a way to shut down people affected by intercommunity bigotry?
#any time someone brings up misogyny and transmisogyny someone says this shit#racism too#and it's just soo infuriating. like yeah okay the government wants me dead#but acting like we have to focus on that at the expense of people suffering from intercommunity issues... we can care about both you know#and it's not great when a space that is meant to be a welcoming exception to the norm still shits on you.

Women have every right to label this a misogyny issue without having to put several asterisks on it
#this is both about the election and abortion#inb4 anyone comes at me: i’m not saying that it’s ONLY a misogyny issue#i’m not saying that people who aren’t women shouldn’t say that this is an issue that affects them in the variety of ways it does#i’m not saying that we should never talk about how it affects people in other ways#no—i believe all of that should happen as well as women should be able to clearly identify this as misogyny#i’m saying that this is a very deeply misogynistic issue and we need to be able to express that in clear terms#misogyny#election 2024#abortion#100plustxt#500plustxt#1kplustxt

my absolute favourite genre of transphobic propaganda is when the caption is like “look at this poor, confused little girl who was forced to mutilate herself :(” and the picture is just the hottest man you’ve ever seen in your life with a full beard and a body that would make thor weak at the knees
#ramble#also like. everything else aside calling any ADULT a ‘poor young girl’ is yucky af#we’re not delicate little flowers who don’t know how to think. i’m an adult with medical autonomy and a working brain#calm down you’re deranged#i won’t get on my soapbox today but it’s just funny how they think they’re the grounded sane ones#also the double standard drives me insane#with trans men it’s ‘delicate abused woman’ and with trans women it’s ‘creepy predatory man’#it’s almost like transphobia is just rebranded misogyny and they don’t actually care about equal rights#who would’ve thought

Yes, trans men and mascs have historically been subjected to less public violence and ridicule than trans women and fems. Is having privilege really the only reason you can think of for that? Have you considered that they had less ability to be publicly visible in the first place? Please remember that the lack of autonomy women have historically been granted also applies to transmascs. They would have been considered the property of men. Spousal rape wasn't illegal everywhere in my country until 1993. How easy do you think it would be for forcibly impregnated transmascs to transition? For abused transmascs in general? Do you think they were all even allowed out of the house often without a man? There are so many stories of transmascs being forcibly institutionalized for being trans. Is that situation and otherwise being quietly abused and erased really so much better than hypervisibility?
#I guarantee you there are so so so many trans men and mascs throughout history that died being known as women.#it doesn't mean they weren't dying & going through other horrible shit just because we haven't heard about all of it#notice how now that women have more rights in society and are allowed to be more visible transmascs are getting more negative attention#I mean don't get me wrong most of that attention is still misogyny but now that we have greater ability to transition it looks different#transandrophobia#transmasc#transfeminism#intracommunity issues tag#SA tw#abuse tw#forced pregnancy tw#queue#mine#before anyone says anything this is NOT saying transfems have gendered privilege over transmascs or they've never been treated like propert#it's just different being treated like your main purpose is to make men happy and have their babies since the day you're born

Of course, the burkini ban is messed up on grounds of religious freedom and racial discrimination. But also
Under any other circumstances, people would be HORRIFIED at a government mandate that women have to show a certain amount of skin. Like. That’s fucking dystopian, and the absolute opposite of feminism. If a government tried to pass a law that all women had to wear tube tops and miniskirts to go outside, people would rightfully be up in arms demanding blood
But because it’s targeting a marginalized religious group, many folks are lauding the blatant forced sexualization of women. Appalling
(apparently the ban also outlaws things like sun – protecting bathing suits if they cover too much skin. Which like. Yes, let’s give everyone skin cancer just so we can spite a religion we’ve decided to hate. Sounds like a good plan </s>)
#mini rant#Religious discrimination#misogyny#feminism#sexualizing women#islamophobia#I was just thinking about this in terms of the “women fought not to have to dress like this#that I’ve heard once or twice in reference to my own historically – inspired wardrobe#and how much I would absolutely hate it if someone tried to force me to show more skin in public#for me it’s an annoying comment here or there. For Muslim women in France it’s actual legal discrimination#I swear we’ve gone from people measuring flappers’ swimsuits on the beach#to make sure they covered enough. to police forcing women to strip#because they’re covering too much. We just can’t fucking win#especially women from marginalized racial or religious groups

Not to be that person, but if Kamala Harris were a white man with the exact same ideals, positions, and beliefs, it wouldn’t have even been a competition. Realising that the worst thing you can apparently be is a woman, is truly devastating.
#us elections#us politics#kamala harris#politics#if you want to read my little think piece just go on my page#and to the men who said this is a reductive take#you’re either too dumb or too ignorant to realise that it is a privilege that you can’t imagine people would refuse to vote a woman#simply because she is a woman#misogyny isn’t just a silly thing tumblr users complain about for the sake of complaining#it’s real and happening and dismissing its prevelance is just as misogynistic as the people refusing to vote a woman into the white house#and i‘m also not saying it was the only reason she lost but i dont think it’s wrong to note that misogyny as well as racism played a part

it's fascinating that those biphobes compare women liking astarion to women liking legolas and they mention a popular post that says "I never understood why so many straight women are into legolas. what do you think he is going to do? top you?" they bring this post up like some sort of proof "haha. so right. so true."
EXCEPT the notes on that popular post are filled with THOUSANDS of women commenting "no. I am gonna top him" and "bold of you to assume women can't top" and a lot of them are bisexual women commenting "I am bi and I only like men who look like a girl lol" honestly relatable Lmao
they act like that shitpost is pointing out some truth about how those women are silly. but the replies on that post show the stupidity of that assumption. people really don't get that feminine looking women don't just want to be rough handled by some masculine dude. and people have varied tastes and sexual desires. there is so much misogyny all tangled up in the biphobia. but it's subtle in a way that they don't notice their views on these matters are flawed because even when we point out what's wrong with these gender essentialist stereotypes, they ignore it and treat it as a joke "haha you all act like we wanted to behead bisexuals"
#my thoughts#I say this as someone who doesn't give a fuck about legolas#but acting like that post is so true is dumb#like those women don't know what they chose to like...#or like a man with pretty long hair and clean shaven face cannot possibly like women... laughing my ass off#my post#my posts#biphobia#text post#textposts#bg3 mine#misogyny#tumblr bullshit#2k#1k#lgbtq#baldur's gate 3#astarion#legolas#the lord of the rings

I've been out as both a trans man and a butch lesbian at different times and I feel like, if I make a post about feminism or talk about how women are treated or anything revolving sexuality or sexualization or honestly really anything, in "leftist" spaces;
people treat me with MORE misogyny if I tell them that I'm a trans man vs telling them that I'm a butch lesbian, being a trans man really does give people permission to treat you with absolute vitriol.
It's the same kind of opinion they hold regardless, but they really just let loose if I say I'm the first one vs saying I'm butch, which causes them to pause more, and be less open about it. I have the same knowledge regardless of my identity, the information and experiences I'm giving you are the same. i'm bigender, so I'm both, but as a trans man it's like I've have to detranstion myself, I have to hide one side of my identity that's just as important as the other, to even be listen to at all. I know this has been said before. I've seen it, but to have it happen to frequently to me is really really weird
#transandrophobia#butchphobia#exorsexism#misogyny#also being bigender really opens a whole other can of worms#but this is about those two distinct identities

I’m kinda tired of saying this but hating on mae under reasons like “she betrayed Noa”, “she was ungrateful”, “she was selfish” blablabla is just a bunch of shit. Women on fiction can (and should) have their own agenda besides male lead’s ones. They’re not in the story for being a main male’s cheerleaders and yeah, they don’t owe a male anything. In Mae’s case she had a mission and that mission was literally her whole reason to fight in a very fucked-up world for her so even if Noa was a good guy she wasn’t gonna change all her values in two days just for him. And yeah, if your only reason to hate Mae is the fact that she wasn’t the perfect good girl companion for a male lead, your problem is not with her, is with your internalized misogyny.
#hating on mae bc she’s not the typical good girl is just misogyny#it’s ok to don’t like a character but if the reasons are about don’t fit on the traditional female role you have a problem#really sick of this#mae haters dni#and if you interact we are gonna have a huge argument#mae#kingdom of the planet of the apes#kotpota#planet of the apes#kotpota mae#kotpota noa#noa

"Lesbian means exclusive attraction to women!"
"No, it means non-men exclusively attracted to non-men!"
"It actually means queer attraction to women!"
"Lesbian means women and nonbinary people being exclusively attracted to other women and nonbinary people!"
Lesbian is a multifaceted label that can describe many different experiences. There is no one perfect definition of lesbian that will encompass the entire diverse experiences that lesbians can have.
I'm personally a genderqueer woman who's exclusively attracted to other women, but the lesbian next to me might be a transmasc lesbian who loves all genders except for men. And the lesbian next to them might be a bigender lesbian who's both a girl and a boy, who's exclusively attracted to women. Our experiences can all be described by the term lesbian if that's how we wish to describe it, but we might define it differently based on our own experiences. And guess what?
None of our definitions are wrong, but none of our definitions will encompass every other lesbian's experiences. A word can have multiple definitions without any of the definitions being wrong. And those definitions can be very vague or very specific. Labels are made to fit us- we aren't made to fit labels.
People who may have a different experience with the lesbian label are not your enemies. People in lesbian spaces who aren't exactly like you are not your enemies. The problem comes when you try to force one singular definition on every single lesbian. THAT is harmful. Sending death threats to other lesbians because they don't have the same experience as you is harmful. Not another lesbian having a different experience from you.
#i'm tired of seeing this ridiculous argument online#if you're obsessed with giving every label one rigid definition then fuck you#lgbt+ identities do not always neatly fit into boxes#people seem to understand this with most other identities. i think i can guess why y'all are so rigid about lesbians (it's misogyny)#venus.txt#lesbian#trans lesbian#bi lesbian#mspec lesbian#multigender lesbian#bigender lesbian#transmasc lesbian#male lesbian#butch lesbian#he/him lesbian#nonbinary lesbian#genderfluid lesbian

"Maybe white men wouldn't have overwhelmingly voted for Trump if it wasn't for feminists telling them they're bad all the time!!1!!" Weird how everything men do ends up being women's fault somehow
#men sold women's rights to our own bodies for cheaper gas prices. i could not give less of a shit about their takes on feminism#that one post going around about how misogyny has increased tremendously over the past few years#with all the replies like 'well women tell cishet white men that patriarchy and racism are bad and that hurts their feelings--#--so its understandable they become violently misogynistic and the solution is for you to be nicer to men!!!'#ohhhh my god quit your entitlement for one fucking second. trumps laws are killing women in droves#us politics#(also i feel the need to add that i am fully supportive of lgbt+ and gender non conforming individuals)

the more i read about transandrophobia as a concept from 'transandrophobia truthers', the more i just end up feeling like these specific experiences are better explained under things like 'gender essentialism' or 'oppositional sexism', or that at the very least these terms need to be brought into discussion of transandrophobia more, but they aren't.
a lot of transandrobros end up coming off like MRAs because they're trying to describe experiences that they don't have proper wording for, and then go on to speak in ways that clearly shows they haven't unlearned [internalized] misogyny/toxic masculinity, gender essentialism and oppositional sexism themselves. often because they haven't read any theory on the subject, and because a lot of them outright refuse to read up on transfeminist theory or understand transmisogyny as a systemic force outside of 'misogyny that trans women experience' or 'transphobia that trans women experience'. then they go on to try and talk over trans women about transmisogyny, or speak about trans women discussing transmisogyny in some extremely bigoted ways because of it.
like, the amount of trans women discussing transmisogyny who have read or even written entire books about transmisogyny, transfeminism and feminism in general seems to be astronomical compared to the amount of trans men discussing transandrophobia that i KEEP seeing. i've seen trans men who have read theory, but they seem to be the bigger popular bloggers that others base their opinions off of, if that makes sense. as if other people in the community are trying to theorize on what people who have actually read theory are saying, without reading any theory themselves.
so much of what transmascs experience is related to misogyny, but it's also related to gender essentialism, oppositional sexism, and toxic masculinity--all things which the trans community has taken from cisgender heterosexual society and applied it to themselves in a way that is Queer Inclusive This Time, yet they never question it.
i'm BEGGING transandrophobia truthers to read books about trans oppression, and to bring this language into your vocabulary when discussing your experiences. when i started doing that with my experiences as a butch on T, it gave me a new perspective on all of it, and the queer community itself.
#txt#transandrophobia#transandrophobia discourse#to be clear i'm not like staunchly anti-transandrophobia (as a concept) or whatever#but i do have a lot of problems with the way transandrophobia is discussed or perceived#this discussion is kind of in its infancy#transmisogyny is much more understood and theorized about than transmasc-specific oppression#which is probably part of why so much of it is poorly developed and spoken about like MRAs#or just outright sounds like TERFs talking about 'sex based oppression'#there are definitely nuggets of truth and things worth theorizing upon#when bringing up transmasc specific oppression though#so please read theory#build upon your understandings of misogyny and transphobia#bring them to the ways that trans men are perceived and treated throughout society#it'll help this whole discussion get along trust me
