okay is she being actually immature or is it just a woman over 30 expressing a human experience you find to be immature.
like yeah. at certain ages... let shit go. im not defending the real immature shit. im not defending the karen you're picturing. i worked in retail i hate those people too. (once somebody got mad at me because she didn't like how our winter window decor was a snowman smoking a pipe. i wish i was joking).
but men at 57 will write books about how 17 year old girls are soooo sexy. they will invent worlds where women have to be naked for "armor reasons." they will write songs that treat women as objects. people rush to defend them. meanwhile a woman at 35 will be like "heartbreak is hard, actually" or "i feel betrayed by a friend" or "i am struggling with something emotionally." immediately people will say stuff like this woman is 35 by the way. by the way this woman is SO OLD to be experiencing this. BY THE WAY.
im 31, almost 32. the other day a poet was blasted online because at her "big age", she had written a poem about feeling unloved. top comment was "this woman is 29 by the way." this woman is too old to still be useful, by the way. she has to behave better . maybe if she was a good wife and mother she could stop existing loudly, and the story could continue on without her. this woman has served her purpose, by the way. she's so cringe, by the way. at 29 - so old! - she still hasn't figured out that her existence should be one of shame.
#what the fuck.#unfortunately by the time i'd switched accounts (from personal to my poetry one)#i couldn't find it :(#this is why u SEND URSELF THE POST. WHICH I KNOW TO DO BUT!!!#i was so mad i just was like “i'm about to tear this commenter in twain” and . lost da post#if u urself are the 29 and got recently flamed by instagram#i love u. come here. write with me. i was about to pick up a sword for u.#i mean a BIGASS sword.#like we all know im a wlw girlie but the way ppl will be like ''id NEVER write sad poetry about a MAN not LOVING me!!!"#..... wowwwww ur so cool. anyway. people often experience emotions regardless of what u consider cringe.#& if ur gonna shame straight/bi women for feeling a certain way. hope u never write about the#weird relationship between u and ur father. or feeling different from ur brother.#or how ur male best friend fucked u over. since it's SO CRINGE. to have ANY feelings caused by a MAN#like be so for real. beloved. nobody is fucking saying this when men do it.#''oh it's cringe to like a woman or feel heartbroken by her.''#controlling women's feelings and actions???? it's more likely than u think.#btw op is nonbinary do NOT be gender essential on this post i'll kill u with my teeth#edit: btw for the person who dm'd me ''when is it misogyny and when is it actually valid''#pretty easy. if a man had done it#would it be cringe? . like if a man sang a sad song about ''she broke my damn heart''?#if he said ''i want to have kids with her'' or something sexually explicit?? like would u even LIKE IT if a male poet had said it?#& if it's like. nah a 35 yr old man being upset about this is cringe too. yeah it's just cringe. that exists. we both know it does.#but .... often i see this ONLY about women. and i can't help but hear like. how back in middle school#we were fed the lie ''girls mature faster.'' ... why do i have to be emotionally regulated? but if a man wrote about the same things?#..... idk . im pretty anti cringe culture to begin with. but this one feels so bad to me . ur still a person past 33.

(person who physically cannot care about a character unless theyre hot and can be shipped yaoi style voice) no you don’t understand it’s not that I don’t like women it’s just that all of them in every piece of media are horribly written mary sues who are evil and bad. not my epic male blorbo who I ship with some guy he interacted with once and has every superpower, committed war crimes, and had 3 lines though. he’s awesome and well written and if you really think about it he’s the best character in the series
#if you tag this with some fictional man you like I’m going to kill you in real life. this post is about WOMEN!!!!! kill yourself#fandom misogyny#fandom sexism#fandom problems#fandom#sexism#misogny

"The bigots up top think we're ALL fucked up! They want us ALL dead!" Hey that's cool dude you're right! Now are you saying this as a genuine expression of solidarity and community, or do you only bring this point up when the acknowledgement of intersectionality makes you uncomfortable? Is it a rallying cry, or a way to shut down people affected by intercommunity bigotry?
#any time someone brings up misogyny and transmisogyny someone says this shit#racism too#and it's just soo infuriating. like yeah okay the government wants me dead#but acting like we have to focus on that at the expense of people suffering from intercommunity issues... we can care about both you know#and it's not great when a space that is meant to be a welcoming exception to the norm still shits on you.

if you call children "jizz trophies," "crotch droppings," or anything else that implies that they're not. you know. actual people who don't deserve your scorn for existing in a stage all people go through. you lose any regard I ever had for you
and if you EVER call a woman a "breeder" for whatever reason- even if she's a terrible parent who lets her kids run around and scream, even if she won't stop having children irresponsibly when she can't support them. for whatever reason. you are an untrustworthy person in my eyes and I honestly don't want to interact with you anymore
you don't have to like kids. you don't have to want to be around kids. but you will respect them, and not reduce even shitty women to their reproductive functions, or I won't respect you
#misogyny#(because to me calling a woman 'breeder' IS misogynistic and uncalled-for no matter what she did)#(if she's an asshole call her an asshole but don't Go There)#this is about a college friend's fiancee and her 14-year-old edgelord in 2006 energy#despite being in her early 30s

if you're a white person taking pleasure in the idea that Trump voters of colour are experiencing racist violence from white trumpers because "they got what's coming to them" I don't think you're anti-racist at all, I think you were just waiting for an acceptable target, and you're also fucking weird.
Bad Person Deserves Punishment For Their Sins give me a fucking break and get yourself out of the fucking catholic church. you're all prison abolitionists until you see someone you don't like.
#assholes still do not deserve to be victims of bigotry#people will crow this up and down until they find someone they think is a big enough asshole to really deserve it#watch your cognitive dissonance kids#i really am only speaking to white people here. as a white person.#POC can feel however they feel.#though i still don't think it's an appropriate sentiment to turn into Political Praxis there is of course a need to vent#like idk i don't find any marginalised suffering under fascism funny. i think it's fucking sad.#i think it is sad when right wing gay people experience homophobia and i think it is sad when right wing trans people experience transphobia#and when right wing disabled people experience ableism and when right wing women experience misogyny#leopards eating faces is funny when it's about like. rich people or misogynists or whatever it's.#do you understand that this is punching down?#why are we wasting our energy hoping for the victimisation of specific marginalised people#this would be a great time to do some outreach but instead everyone is just fucking MOCKING THEM#you're so fucking stupid you don't care about The Cause you care about Winning#this shit makes me furious.#have some compassion#the system speaks#USpol#Trump#racism#politics

Women have every right to label this a misogyny issue without having to put several asterisks on it
#this is both about the election and abortion#inb4 anyone comes at me: i’m not saying that it’s ONLY a misogyny issue#i’m not saying that people who aren’t women shouldn’t say that this is an issue that affects them in the variety of ways it does#i’m not saying that we should never talk about how it affects people in other ways#no—i believe all of that should happen as well as women should be able to clearly identify this as misogyny#i’m saying that this is a very deeply misogynistic issue and we need to be able to express that in clear terms#misogyny#election 2024#abortion#100plustxt#500plustxt#1kplustxt

my absolute favourite genre of transphobic propaganda is when the caption is like “look at this poor, confused little girl who was forced to mutilate herself :(” and the picture is just the hottest man you’ve ever seen in your life with a full beard and a body that would make thor weak at the knees
#ramble#also like. everything else aside calling any ADULT a ‘poor young girl’ is yucky af#we’re not delicate little flowers who don’t know how to think. i’m an adult with medical autonomy and a working brain#calm down you’re deranged#i won’t get on my soapbox today but it’s just funny how they think they’re the grounded sane ones#also the double standard drives me insane#with trans men it’s ‘delicate abused woman’ and with trans women it’s ‘creepy predatory man’#it’s almost like transphobia is just rebranded misogyny and they don’t actually care about equal rights#who would’ve thought

I've seen a few posts about women and pants now and many of them are very good, and not to nitpick those posts or downplay religious sexism or anything, but I have to emphasise:
Somebody who DOESN'T live in a controlling religious country/cult/family is also affected by sexism. We all know that, right? Secular parts of the first world also have opinions about how women dress, including when it comes to trousers, especially in childhood and in institutions like schools and the workplace
Me and many people my age (20s) remember being forced into skirts, punished and shamed by parents & teachers & peers & possibly then bosses about what we wear not being feminine enough, and it wasn't by deeply religious sects. Many updates to dress codes are very new and sexist views are still in place in many institutions. Normalised societal misogyny wants women (and people they want to treat as women) to dress femininely, down to what KIND of pants they're allowed to wear (compare a pink top and jeggings to mens jeans and tell me these two women are treated the same. Hating women in pantsuits is still a sexist office joke today, and even those outfits are feminine compared to male suits, which raise eyebrows when worn by women). The women I know who wear trousers regularly are literally otherwise feminine, and all wear dresses to events.
I know trousers have become much more normalised over the past few decades in secular society (yay!! the result of many many years of effort and lawbreaking) but let's not be absolute when we talk about the pants concept lol. Especially within a larger conversation about female/transmasc/intersex/transfem masculinity and social perceptions, especially in an age of rising fascism
#you know. misogyny?#transandrophobia#you're telling me only muslims and christians experience pants based sexism. in front of my salad?#i did not have screaming arguments with my nonbeliever non church attendee parents in the 2000s to have you lot --#sexism is Not strange or rare or fringe#pretend me wearing pants from then on was societally allowed. i got a talking to at school about pants.#i was scared i would have to wear a skirt at high school in the 2010s. thankfully the one i went to was more progressive#getting clocked as the only 'girl' in class wearing trousers without at leasts wearing a skirt over it#having older female AND male relatives pick up on the lack of a skirt/dress at events#yes some people think it's normal. and some people think being gay is normal. and some people dgaf if you're foreign or whatev#but existing some ways means you have certain experiences and there are certain risks hanging over you lol#just making this post bc some of you live in some extremely progressive USA city and have forgotten normal people exist /lighthearted#mum still shows me a polka dot dress i used to wear as a baby and asks me why i don't wear dresses. some dumb dress shes kept for 20 years#she wears trousers and dungarees sometimes. but that's the thing#pants are a temporary allowance. if that's all you wear then they hate that. you have to be Feminine when they demand#your wardrobe still carries sexist necessities before people start to look at you funny#if i went to an event like a wedding in a suit people would talk (closeted to most ppl irl)#anyway.#sending telepathic strength to anyone surrounded by so called progressives who have opinions on how they dress 👉👁️👁️👈

The Batkids' deaths vary in severity/importance, but they all serve to shake some core part of their superhero identity. Sometimes it affirms their existing identity (Cass' first death), or it spurs them to discover more about what their current identity means (Damian, Tim); sometimes, however, it severs them from who they were. Dick's transition into Agent 37 and Cass' turn to evil both stem from very temporary deaths, where the death is not as important as what happens after. It's not the pill or Cass' dip into the Pit that actually changes them, but the boundary these events create between their old and new selves.
Which is why Jason's death is different from all of the above. Beyond being (at one point) permanent, his loss of self is irreversible. Dick and Cass claw their way back to their identities pre-death, Nightwing and Batgirl respectively; Jason does not. He cannot, because he doesn't fit Robin anymore, and Robin doesn't fit him. It's not only that his sense of self is shaped by his death, but that it was, in many ways, destroyed by it.
But it's ultimately Stephanie's death that links death so closely to the loss of a superhero identity. Her death, unlike the others, is instigated by loss - Batman fires her from Robin, which leads to the events of War Games. On her deathbed, Steph asks "was I ever really Robin?", and Bruce replies "of course you were." It's a sweet moment, but it's retroactive. He can only affirm her legacy as Robin in the past tense (it's over; it can't impact anyone anymore). Her non-existent memorial can be read not only as a lack of care for Stephanie Brown the person, but for Stephanie Brown the Robin - Jason's Robin is immortalised, Stephanie's Robin is erased. She dies because she was made Robin, and she was made Robin to die.
I guess my point is that everyone's deaths are linked to how much they are valued within their mantle, not just in a metatextual sense (as in, how much DC editorial liked them) but also in the text itself - deaths either instigate further ownership of their name, or dismantle their sense of self. This is why it's important to recognise Steph's tenure as Robin (both in comics and fandom). Recognising Steph-as-Robin is a direct refutation of her death, a long-delayed memorial.
#dick grayson#cassandra cain#jason todd#stephanie brown#batman#what's hard about writing about steph's death is that it's so steeped in misogyny you can barely write about it without mentioning dc#i did just write this whole thing to say steph deserved better#idk if the post is even coherent at all like this was supposed to be a dick cass jason post about how their deaths changed their mantles#but then i started thinking about Stephanie Brown...#anyway steph fans (and jason fans) feel free to correct idk the quality of this analysis tbh

The Case for Same-Sex Figure Skating: Why It’s Time to Rewrite the Rules of the Ice
Gabriella Papadakis has written an essay on ice dancing with Madison Hubbell, and the issues caused by heteronormativity in figure skating. Please give it a read!
Figure skating has the potential to be so much more. Imagine a sport where skaters are free to lead, follow, or simply express themselves—where the artistry isn’t confined by outdated stereotypes. What if the next generation of skaters saw same-sex partnerships as normal? What if breaking these traditions inspired innovation in mixed pairs? What if we stopped teaching women to shrink and men to suppress their artistry? Thinking about all the talents that we’re losing and those we’d gain back: shorter men who love to dance, tall & muscular girls whose strength could be celebrated rather than concealed. Skaters who don’t see themselves in the expected gendered expressions but still have things to say. We dance on frozen water and skate on a surface that contains the fluidity of life itself. I’m wondering about all the art that could emerge from this beautiful sport. All the artistic & athletic diversity. I believe these changes would elevate the sport—not diminish it. They would create more room for individuality, artistry, and excellence.
#gabriella papadakis#madison hubbell#figure skating#ice dance#still digesting this but i love love love what she's doing to advocate for change#god knows fs needs it#cannot wait to see her skating with madi at AOI#it also makes my blood boil to read about all the misogyny she's experienced...#like none of it is surprising but to hear it from the perspective of a high level skater...

i actually think it was very intentional and necessary for the society that has been manipulated since its inception by doc scratch, mr. misogyny himself, to have gender. and i also think that it was very intentional and necessary for gender on alternia to be used to represent a broad range of issues pertaining to misogyny. and while i don't think that homestuck is "about" one specific thing—because it's about a lot of things—i strongly believe that homestuck is a comic about misogyny given how prominent of a theme it is. i feel like i need to stress how important it is that gender was such a significant aspect of alternia's culture & how disingenuous it is to write it off as lazy writing

hi women! it's Society here. please be feminine. but not TOO feminine, or you're an airhead with nothing of value to say. do not enjoy the femininity, or you're a bimbo. and not Weird Feminine or you're offputting. and not with conscious effort put into the femininity or you're trying too hard. remember: Incorrect Femininity is unprofessional!
don't be masculine/androgynous either. that is Unwomanly. and also unprofessional!
always keep in mind that femininity should be a huge imposition that you resent, but you must perform it flawlessly and effortlessly within the exact parameters we have set forth or you're Being A Woman Wrong. and did we mention unprofessional?!
#misogyny#double standards#it's fucking exhausting#if you actually LIKE femininity and take the time to claim what you want and reject what you don't#you're not worth taking seriously#if you don't like it and actually DO SOMETHING about that you're unpardonably masculine#you're supposed to hate it but do it I guess? to be considered an intelligent woman with important things to say?

average misogynist: all women should be barefoot and pregnant housewives who never speak and are killed as soon as they turn 30
average misandrist: i really wish i had basic human rights and didn't have to live in constant fear of being raped and murdered
some of you people for some reason: these are the same thing and actually the second one is worse
#feminism#misogyny#misandry is not a problem it's a rational response to living in a world that hates you#stop acting like evil mean feminists are a problem#“your body my choice” is a rallying call for men now and you're worried about Mean Women hurting their feelings
