I am absolutly a fan of tommy i think he is a great character so far and i love how Lou is playing him. I also strongly believe the writers introduced the catholic guilt plot for Eddie because people have been talking about this idea as a way for him to have his queer story for YEARS like yes there were crumbs in the show alluding to this storyline but this is the first time it was explicitly talked about as as something that will be explored more this season. I don't think this is a coincidance at all and even tho i'm not 100% sure buddie will happen this season i do believe that this is the right time to express strong opinions in favour of it publicly because for maybe the first time EVER we as a community are being listend to on the topic of queerbating and we are being taken seriously. Eddie is a VERY queercoded character and i think this is an UNDENIABLE fact.

I think they can peacefully move from bucktommy to buddie with slow and well written episodes, creating more build up and eventually making buddie happen. Obviously even amicable breakups hurt a little bit, but they can make it happen in a way that allows both buck and tommy to move on to their respective stories, and even bring back Tommy in future seasons as a good friend that fans love, without him getting "in the way of buddie" if you know what i mean.

Season 4 reaction

I might just do this for every season cos i need to rant (Autism things. Iykyk).

Ok. 4x03. The whole Eddie and Hildy thing is so fucking funny. And Buck and Chris teaming up to get the coffee maker is so domestic. I love it so much lmao

And naturally i watched 9-1-1: Lone Star 2x03. Ive seen some episodes so i have some knowledge about the characters, but not much. But its so funny. TK always knew lmao

Then we have 4x05. Buck Begins. Man i almost cried so many times. I knew about the Daniel thing but i didnt know the whole story and. Whew. Its a lot. But im glad he has the 118 and Athena to help him and to be his family. Maddie to. I can see both of their sides tho. But when Buck got the clean bill of health Eddie was just like a husband waiting for him to come home lmao. I love them so much. And the ending scene with Maddie and Buck is so sweet 🥹

And i know its not my usual topic, but in 4x07, the whole plot with David, Michael, and Bobby is so funny. I dont know much about Michael’s storyline, so i am actually clueless as to how it turns out. But the three of them are so great together and i hope to see more!

4x08. I know some about Taylor. So the fact she is back is making me 😠. And she did not have to call Buck out like that. Homeboy has been through some shit and is trying to figure it out. But Buck and Chris’ friendship is so pure and i love them so much❤️❤️

4x11. Athena’s “dont even think about it Buck” has me CACKLING. She is such a mom to him and its amazing

And Jealous Eddie in 4x12 with the treasure hunt? Homeboy does NOT like Taylor (cant blame him tho). And Chim and Hen’s friendship is fucking amazing. But the whole 118 trying to find the treasure is so funny. The fact that Ravi found it first tho? I love that man

4x13. Eddie is already having doubts about Ana. Homeboy does not like women and you cannot convince me otherwise. And the scene of Eddie getting shot made me cry. I can definitely see why people think that this is where the Buddie arc was supposed to happen. Cos they held eye contact and Eddie reached out for Buck. And that could be seen as platonic but knowing everything we do, it just seems like it was a set up for a romantic arc

And 4x14 starts with Buck crawling under a fire truck to get to Eddie. Without a second thought, he rolled under a firetruck, the thing that caused so much trauma, to get to Eddie. And Eddie was so concerned that Buck was hurt even though he was the one bleeding. And i guess Taylor can have her good moments. But the scene where Buck tells Chris what happened breaks my heart. He was trying to hold it together for Chris but once he knew that Eddie made it through surgery? He couldnt hold in his emotions. And then when they are talking about the will. Its so soft between them. And Eddie just knows that Buck wouldnt say no to taking in Chris. And i think that just shows how close of a bond they have. This was totally a set up for a romantic arc, but of course F*x had to shut that down 😒

Before I get into it

SPOILERS FOR THE END AND THE DEATH VOLUME 3

Holy shit this book is great! It genuinely is everything I wanted and more. Volume 3 ties everything up so well that even though I knew the plot outline already just from lore it had me gripped from cover to cover. An emotional and bloody ending to the to the galaxy spanning series.

First off I really enjoyed getting the little updates on what some of the other players are doing while it all goes down. Bobby G and his endless strategy meetings as he tries to figure out how to get to Terra. Lorgar pulling a jonestown as he arrogantly misinterprets prophecies. Perturabo wallowing in self pity as he destroys his room like an angry teenager (the image of him pouting in his broken chair as the room lies devastated around him gives me life). Finally Eldrad and the others arguing over shoulda woulda coulda as they realize this is way worse than they thought. It was nice to check in with everyone before we dive into the trauma of it all.

Speaking of trauma let's talk about the black rage! We see sanguineous's mangled corpse in the lupercal court as the psychic shock sends the entire ninth legion (minus Zephon) into a berserk rage. I really can't think of a better word for it than traumatic. After all they've been through together during the siege to have the blood angels turn into actual monsters against their will is just twisting the knife for the loyalists. From Rans desperate fight for survival against a man he idolizes to Amit waking up dazed and confused at the end of a trail of corpses ("why do the bodys end here?" "That's as far as you got" kills me), it's safe to say nobody is having a good time.

Scratch that you know who is having a pretty good time? Rogal Dorn. Fresh out of the desert of endless boredom Rogal finally gets to let loose a little as he fights his way to Valdor. I love their dynamic and I wish we got more of them hanging out("damn you!"(frustrated) "damn you too."(affectionate)).

We check in with Fo and the genocide crew which ends predictably. I saw him completing the Terminus sanction then getting killed trying to escape a mile away. I did not see him making a fucking clone body and replace Xanthus! I love me a devious old scientist causing problems on purpose! I really hope he comes back in a big way.

The library crew didn't do a whole lot other than Ariman being a creepy magic man. It is buck wild that the archivist turned out to be Lilean Chase at the beginning of her career she goes on to found the fucking Cognitae so get it girl I guess.

The did my boy Loken so dirty in the end but fuck me was it good. They planted seeds earlier on talking about how a demon is made, a reaction in the warp to a traumatic event in real space, how in the warp effect can come before cause. But fuck me I wasn't expecting this. After the dust settles and Loken almost convinces Abaddon to give reconciliation a chance Erebus (fuck Erebus) stabs him in the back dooming the galaxy to endless civil war. And why did he do this? Because Samus is the man beside you, Samus right behind you, Samus is the guy she told you not to worry about, look out it's fucking Samus! The abrupt murder of Loken gives birth to the Demon Samus kicking all of this shit into motion. It truly is all Erebus's fault.

I saved the best for last. The showdown on the vengeful spirit. This is where Horus really gets tho shine. I haven't loved his character like this since the first couple of books. He's a fucking mess and I love it this is the man who's daddy issues burned the galaxy to the ground, and as someone who has a difficult relationship with my father fuck me I get it. Dan Abnet is so good at making fights feel intimate, Horus isn't a one dimensional avatar of evil hes a son confronting his abusive father. Horus doesn't want to kill his father he wants to be better than him, and not just stronger but a better person. He needs the Emperor to acknowledge that he had hurt Horus. Horus loved his father and wanted to reach out him on an emotional level so badly, but the Emperor was simply no longer able to do that. When the Emperor purged himself of the infant god the dark king his kindness and empathy went with it ( going on to create the star child). This emperor is nothing but power and cold fury. He enters the room having already written Horus off as dead. It's such a tragedy from top to bottom because we know from Malcador in his all knowing position on the golden throne, that there is a version of this confrontation where they both walk out alive. That does not happen.

The actual physical fight is nothing to write home about besides the fact that different people see it happening in different ways Dusk sees it as a clumsy slugfest between two lumbering giants while LE2 saw it as the greatest display of skill he had ever seen. In truth it was both. The psychic battle had them tossing each other across time and space and fighting through the sites of each other's greatest sins. They use the settings to try and undermine each other emotionally holy shit. Then the do the next logical step AND HAVE A FUCKING TAROT DECK YU-GI-OH DUEL! I need an imperial tarot card game right now GW take my fucking money. It ends with the cards predicting the fall of cadia (the despoiler unlocking the silver door) and the emperor loses. It has become obvious by this point that the Emperor can't beat Horus. Horus outclasses him in every way but Horus doesn't want to kill his father he wants acknowledgement. So what we get is several desperate attempts by the emperor and several others to fight back as Horus beats his father bloody. But nothing works until Oll and John show up having magically teleported much closer than they ment to. They stand right in front of Horus. Horus is bemused at best giving John just enough time to use the word he learned from the tower of Babel directly in Horus's smug face. The resulting blast nearly kills everyone in the room, but it's the first thing so far to actually damage Horus. While her recovers John makes a run for it but Oll goes to the Emperor gives him the athame (stone knife used to commit the first murder) and tries to wake him up. Only for Horus to wake up first and turn poor Oll to a fine red mist.

Finally Horus stands there triumphant and who is there but his own favorite son Loken. Loken is the only one who tries to reason with Horus to make him see the the chaos gods are using and manipulating him. It was a great touch to frame Horus pov in 2nd person as if someone is telling Horus his thoughts. Loken convinces Horus that he's not really in control anymore and the only way Horus can take back control is to give up the power that the gods gave him. The moment he does back on Terra Keeler uses the power of millions of praying souls to relight the astronomicon and and give the Emperor a font of power to tap into. The emperor rises as if from the dead. Horus at first tries to pull the power back but the gods hold onto it as punishment for spurning them. Then Horus looks at the Emperor empowered as an avatar of humanities faith and he finally understands. The gods panic and try to force their power back into him and Horus begs his father to kill him now while he can resist. Then it happens a father murders his son. The emperor tells Horus "I forgive you and I'll wait for you". Excuse me Dan Abnet what exactly does that mean? Horus returned? Ghost Horus? Reincarnated? What the fuck? From there it's mostly just wrapping up they teleport home and we get the last gasp of Malcador as they place the Emperor on the golden throne.

If you read this thank you this was mostly for me because I needed an outlet for my feelings and I don't want to bother my friends to much with Warhammer. It's been a wild ride and I can't wait to see where it goes from here (especially the third Bequin book).

Do the Ow cast have any lasting fears or scars from their Time in wonderland ?

Like Iggy getting uncomfortable when people have or wave around scissors.

Or just occasional awkward tension between some of them when smt gets mentioned that connected to their death ? Since I think they would sometimes have déjà vu if I remember correctly.

Actually what are their fears ?

Also side questions would any of the cast get tattoos or piercings? Idk why I could kinda imagine Orlam having a ton.

some of these actually i've answered before if i remember correctly, i shall go look...

these were their fears:

Iggy: needles (and also doctors/hospitals in general to an extent), general fear of the dark

Genzou: (depressing one) dying alone, (sillier one) clowns, because he watched peewee's big adventure on tv when he was a kid lakdjfad

Orlam: being publicly humiliated/chastised, people yelling in general, but also when things are too quiet

Gidget: very very large things, heights (tho can force themself if they have to)

Bucks: ghosts and phantoms etc (she's super superstitious about that kinda stuff and enjoys scaring herself with it; she probably longs to go on ghost hunting treks and scare herself silly)

and as for the overarching question of whether or not they have lasting fears/scars, i think so. like they definitely experience a variety of deja vu moments, random flashes of memory. i think it says at some point in the epilogues that like, sometimes iggy just becomes overcome with an intense feeling of melancholy that weighs him down. so i think that lasting fears would definitely be part of this. i can't really think of any specific ones off the top of my head, but i think that in general, anything similar to or objects/locations related to a horrific experience they had in wonderland would be likely to dredge something up. even if they're not strong enough to make any of them actively afraid or actively avoid certain situations/places/objects, it would certainly summon guttural feelings of anxiety or sadness, which they'd probably all respond to differently. iggy would likely either want to be alone for a while or if with someone he feels safe with, just be held for a while. genzou i could see pretending he's not affected until later and then just going melancholic the rest of the night/having trouble sleeping. orlam i could see the opposite in that he'd probably try to overcompensate for it by being extra exuberant. gidget would want to talk to someone they trust. and bucks would probably cry (i see bucks as being much more prone to crying in general in the updated timeline than in the original)

We’ve all been screaming about Evan “That’s why you’re so… *bisexual hand gesture* pent up” “Well, I wish I could help.” Buckley, but can we talk about Eddie in that scene?

Eddie has been in the show for 6 seasons and, to my memory (which could be wrong bc I haven’t watched the previous seasons in over a year) Eddie’s never really been “pent up” (due to lack of sex) or anything before.

Like, in s2. That man wasn’t going to cheat on his wife, regardless of the fact that she completely abandoned them for years. Those rose-covered glasses he’s wearing now have been dialed up by a lot, but he was definitely still wearing them while they were separated, so that was at least 2 years without sex. Probably substantially longer, given that he was deployed & then came home injured & then they were constantly fighting. That doesn’t really make for a great sex like.

Then, she dies, and the tsunami & lawsuit & Chris’ trauma all happens, and Eddie uses illegal street fighting to manage his feelings.

I don’t remember him making any comments about wanting to meet someone, or be with someone in the time before Shannon & Ana, and he only went after Ana bc she was there when everyone was telling him not to miss out on anything (even tho he very clearly was not ready) & that’s another 2.

We have the same thing again between Ana & Marisol. We know he’s a family man, but he certainly isn’t making any effort to get any or meet people. He only agrees to go on dates bc his aunt guilts him into it, & there’s a year and a half (roughly) between the EddieAna breakup & him calling Marisol.

Idk, I find it hard to believe that - between being a full time firefighting father & nephew & grandson & friend & basketball games & trauma & mental breakdowns & healing from injury after injury - this man is finding time for regular sex, & we’ve never seen him “pent up” as Buck said.

It just feels very weird to me. Like, that kind of painted Eddie as a man that is concerned with consistently needs to get his dick wet or he gets all sweaty & weird, and that’s never really been his character.

It would definitely make sense if it was anxiety rearing its head and/or his struggle with Catholic guilt. I mean, he consistently uses exercise as a way to let off steam when he’s struggling (in 2x01, when he’s in the gym as he & Buck are butting heads. The street fighting arc. The fact that he has a lot of heavily physically exerting hobbies, even if we don’t see them on screen.)

Idk, to frame it as Eddie not getting laid enough (when they also literally showed us a scene of them doing it the day before?) feels very OOC to me.

Unless Buck was seeing it as sexual tension & not the anxiety that it actually was bc he was feeling sexually charged & projecting????

I really enjoy your blog, I've been in the fandoms for about a year or so and I just wanted your opinion on something I have noticed in regards about how a section or the fandom treats Eddie vs how they treat Buck.

So since 7x4 happened I've seen some crazy opinions about Eddie like : "Eddie cant get together with Buck until he fixes all his issues/trauma and needs to be in therapy to be worthy or Buck. Not Buck tho, he's obviously still on the hamster wheel and has some issues on his own, he just jumped from one relationship to another in a matter of weeks but that's fine 🤷" "It will be ok for Bucktommy to be endgame because Tommy is apparently the most compelling love interest Buck ever had in the show since Tommy is such a complex character, Eddie should end alone if he doesn't get with Buck tho because apparently that's what's right for his character"

"Eddie should lost custody of Chris for making a mistake while dealing with his trauma and he should stay with Buck because Buck deserves to be his guardian more than Eddie" "BuckTommy deserves to be in a long and steady relationship and we need two seasons of them while Eddie figures himself out and maybe we can get buddie at the last episode when 911 finally ends 🤓"

I don't really understand how some "buddie" fans have this kind of opinion when they apparently "love" Eddie. Wouldn't it be easier to just admit they don't really like Eddie (which is a valid opinion) why pretend to like him?

I have some theories about why some fans treat Eddie like this but I'm a POC so for me it only means one thing 🤷

My favorite character is Buck but the way some people in the fandom treat Eddie baffles me.

Okay Nonny, I will attempt to reply to your question as eloquently as possible, but I first I have to come out as a non native speaker (as well), non POC and non American Eddie stan. Mostly, because the last three things will most certainly affect my answer.

Let’s begin in season one. Buck was a fan favourite from the beginning. A good looking blond all-American guy with blue eyes. Couldn’t get more American than that really. He was a total himbo who scored woman after woman. At first that is all you see. He was fun and compelling to watch for some people.

I have to admit that I hated Buck’s guts in the beginning of season 1 and I thought Bobby was absolutely right to fire him. I mean, stealing the engine to have sex? Just... no. (Don't worry, these days I adore Buck.)

It was only when him and Abby started their relationship that I started to like him more. (Yes, I liked Buck/Abby. Don't hate on me for that. They had a great dynamic.) Then Abby left.

When Eddie appeared in season 2, I fell in love. So did Buck by the way. :) He was a lot more compelling to watch than Buck (for me personally) and I understood him in ways that I never quite understood Buck. That is where my Eddie love began and it is still going strong today.

So, imagine my surprise that, even as early on as season 2 and 3 there were people who didn’t quite like Eddie as much as they did Buck. Some Buddie shippers were obviously biased towards Buck.

For example, when the law suit story arc happened, these people were all supporting Buck and almost woobiefying him. While I didn’t necessarily think Buck was wrong about everything, I did think he was wrong about suing the Fire Department and blowing up his bonds with the 118 by talking about their private lives to his attorney.

When I tried to talk about this topic, it was obvious that certain individuals didn’t agree with me. Some reactions even were quite hostile. But whatever Eddie did was definitely criticised more heavily by a certain part of fandom. Eddie being angry with Buck over the law suit? Some people didn’t like that at all and even afterwards were upset because Eddie didn’t apologize. Apologize over what? It was Buck who sued the department and talked about the 118’s private lives.

I’d like to make it clear that I’m not talking about everyone in fandom. This was a group of fans that defended Buck through everything, no matter what he did. Everyone was wrong, but Buck was always right. Eddie never seemed to get the same defence.

I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t get it at first, mostly because I’m not American and my mind just didn’t go there somehow? Looking back at it now, I don’t understand why I didn’t clock it earlier. I mean, Trump building that wall at the Mexican border speaks for itself.

Anyway, that scene (I forgot the episode) where Eddie reveals being half Swedish and half Mexican to that racist who didn’t want him to treat him? That is when alarm bells first started going off in my mind. I started reading up about the topic, I read a lot of posts about it here on Tumblr about Eddie being half Mexican and generally set out to educate myself on the subject.

So yeah, ultimately I do think there are a lot of people who just like Buck better than other characters, which is fine. I love Eddie more than anyone else on the show, so who am I to judge? We all need our blorbo, don’t we? :b As long as they treat Eddie the same as Buck, it’s all fine. That is what fandom is about.

But there is a certain subset of fans, and a lot of them seem to have jumped on the BT train, that seem to constantly spew hate onto Eddie. Some of it has to do with Eddie being in the way of their ship. Some of it has to do with Ryan and people not liking him, so they transfer those emotions to Eddie.

But yes, some of it, I imagine, has to do with the fact that Eddie is a half Mexican man with the surname ‘Diaz’.

whoevr the ffuck asked this thank you somuch I LOVE TIM AND DALLAS.....ARGHHH theyre so fucking interesting to me forever....okay in the book its stated that dallas and tim were always kind of buddies . pb specifically notes that even though dallas got angry and slashed tim's tires for no real reason and then tim retaliated by breaking his ribs that they were still friends. tim goes to see dallas in the hospital, which dallas claims he only does to rub the rumble in his face but i (choose to) believe it was like...more .

tim isnt really a character in the books very much tbh . he has 1 single appearance in the outsders and one in that was then this is now. most of what we hear about him is word of mouth, but when he is onscreen hes described as very cold and scary. ponyboy notes that tim reminds him of an alley cat, and tim praises pony and johnny for killing bob. he kind of just stalks around and talks to everyone a little bit and thats the most we see (besides him breaking his nose again LMAO). pony mentions him A LOT in this book. something thats kind of a '''fandom'''' thing that pisses me off is how people say that darry & soda wouldnt like pony hanging out with curly because he's a ''bad influence'' but this just..isnt true ? pony is always mentioning both the shepards and even says he actually is friends with curly and likes him. the cigarette burning in the hands incident (i think its so cute and funny that tim stopped them. like curly robbing a liquor store is something hes lowkey proud of but curly and pony burning holes in each others hands pisses him off?) and even mentions when he was with curly one time and how he broke something while jumping off a pole. its also noted that despite all the differences between the shepards and the curtis', theyll always help each other and they truly do have each others back. no one makes any comments about how they distrust tim or anythign. in That was then This is Now, tim also shows up once but is mentioned a lot. curly and angela have the most screen time obviously in this book, but i do LOVEE tim's appearance in this book. after mark shaves angelas head, he and curly go and beat up bryon and tim is described as a very frightening person. bryon says that curly is mostly just kind of dumb and violent but tim is genuinely a mean person, noting that curly threatens a lot of people but tim really does mean everything he says and that whatever he says he'll do to someone, he really will. i think this is great! but yeah. twttin also says that the shepards live with their mother and stepdad but i kind of like. ignore this. i think their dynamic is so much more interesting if they live by themselves. i think tim is particularly fascinating BECAUSE of angela and curly. like even tho tim is a terrrible violent person he still raises and takes care of his younger siblings. adds so much more..i think..

Yk Maggie, I was thinking about that the other day because I've been focusing so much on the blue and green thing in couples overall and I just think that the choice to put Buck and Eddie very distinctively in blue and green in the episode called love is in the air where both of them are trying to date with less than great results is fascinating, because Eddie is nowhere near the green/blue when he's in his quest, something that's interesting because Buck is wearing blue on his date with Veronica on 4x07, so like, the quest for love can also use the color combo thing but the thing that gets me is the ambiguity of the color thing with Natalia later on the episode. Because he's still wearing blue.

But the thing is, the blue and green thing is always one piece in a solid color, so even tho she has some green in her outfit, her jacket makes it seem like they are both the blue character and we know Buck needs to be the blue character so this is all wrong in terms of the way they do couples.

But you wanna talk about Buck and Eddie in the beginning of the episode, so something else that I've learned in my quest for understanding the use of blue and green in the show is that we all got so hung up on the way they used pretty much same shades from Eddie and Ana's breakup in 6x13 because they are so close to each other.

That we failed to notice that the 6x17 buddie combo is close to the combo they put Buck and Taylor on when after the shooting.

And in the search for love episode. Insane of them really........

And yk, I have every scene they are even in the same frame together on the same file, and I went looking, they are EXTREMELY careful to never put them both in blue or green even though Eddie's color palette has a lot of blues and greens and Buck does wear a significant amount of blue and an occasional green (they also never put them both on blue/blue green/green unless it's the uniform)

Sadly not really an mc, not really, though everyone gets their moments to shine and he's no different. There's really no character in this show that's a total miss or doesn't at least have a few cool moments (except for like 2 that just have nothing to do for the whole series, no one really cares about them anyways tho lmao)

Hard agree with everything Gemin said. The show is essentially a horror-themed shonen. The main enemies are all either evil sprits spawned from human fears or dudes with cursed powers doing cursed things. The story and universe are fantastic and they even manage to pull some pretty big emotional punches when needed, the animation is immaculate (barring the circumstances in which it was made... whole other can of worms), and the power system at play is generally considered one of the better ones in modern shonen. But this, this is new, this limits me in sooo many different ways but also opens up the game in ways i couldnt have imagined

Okay first off, not picking you class right at the very very start is great weirdly enough, atleast for me.

It gave me time to see the world through the basic unfiltered lens of someone who has an idea whats to come cuz of me playing the previous game but also no clue as the game hasnt given me any story yet.

Literally, it starts off with you having a copy of LOOK magazine on your face. You also get to really choose your look or well hair situation mainly, you're a stick person hair and accessories are all you got and its early game soooo

But anygays, it doesnt give you story till thr bus ride and even then you dont know your class or if there will even be classes!

I choose pigskinner or whatever my head is running at a million miles per hour rn cuz this hyperfixation is really new and free so double the speed of thoughts

And yeah i could have tried something new especially since 2 out of my 3 wol saves were that game's pigskinner class (cow puncher(?)) But come on, i like my familiar class also i suck as magic/effect heavy builds outside of my spamming of stuff like bleed or on fire

But anygays, the uncursing stuff is super fun tho pretty confusing. Thankfully you cant mess them up to my knowledge, they really test you puzzle skilss and you remembering that most things in this game are interactable (very very important)

Also omg i love any chance to piss a narrator and there are some great ones, the main ones that i can remember rn is the one about you working at all these different places and even being employee of the month despite you either being super young or not born at that time. Seriously the sickle curse was hands down the scariest part of a game ive played in years and ive somewhat play resident evil 7

Also gods i love the to do list, don't get me wrong i loved asking my companions for reminders but this is super convenient and go for when my companion cant you know, accompany me somewhere

Plus being able see everything together and whats a main quest vs a side quest helps. And making my own notes in game helps since i still havent gotta a notebook for my gaming notes yet

Also the whole thing with the mob was great, 10/10 i love being chaotic and getting paid the big bucks for it. Seriously its worth it and theres even some more pacifist options in those quest lines to. Im very much a nice person to my core despite my nature darkness and chaos, so being able to handle things nicely or well with limited blood shed is nice. Also helps with you, like me, tend to avoid battles you dont gotta fight. Its also a nice puzzle sometimes cuz i cant just shove like 9 different thing down my throat and kick ass. Its one potion and one food at a time.

The combat is definitely different but more in a "its harder to be able to wipe everyone out in seconds" then a "heres a whole new system to learn good luck"

In wol its stupidly easy atleast for me to become a lesser god and wipe out half the map basically even during early game. Tho thats mainly cuz of my past experience and cuz i was raised really good and weirdly so my skills work with this-

But in sol the fights are actually pretty tough, i found myself really rationing my items out even in late game but also heavily relying on them and effects

Which btw go fucking on items and stuff that cause effects like bleed and on fire, trust me its actually kinda necessary

Also the last(?) fight (and the optional golem fight) are like stupidly hard even with all tbr help (finale(?)) While the golem is apparently a push over yet also god number two idk im working on it, apparently they didnt play test it and honestly it kinda shows (neutral)

So I like Buddie. I think it’s neat. I think it makes sense. I think the show should actually just do it. However, I have to say, at this point I also think it’s just going to be queerbaiting -as far as show canon goes plz continue to ship and fanfic away- but I’ve seen this so many times before. I know, the show has queer characters, the spin off has several, but that does not make it immune from queerbaiting. It’s one of the most watched shows on the network, many people watch this but don’t really interact with the fandom and sadly most of them are probably straight and can just… not see it. Idk how, but they exist. So, personally I think it’s just queerbaiting —b/c I don’t think they are going to do it and even potentially risk their audience dipping because people suck and they are cowards.

That said I’m bored so plz continue if you want to read my various contradictory musing hc on this ship. B/c when you recognize the show probably won’t do it you can really just go wherever with it*.

Disclaimer: uh, kinda only partly organizing this and just spitting out thoughts tbh.

However, within fandom I’ve got more to say, mainly “what are the various ways we can interpret this relationship and what it is?” So, let’s get out of the box! The box being the standard mlm ship, b/c the allosexual/romantic monogamous ship is great, I like it just fine and go for it! However, I think equally valid is reading it as ace/aro could also be interesting. (You could also go poly but I don’t really get much into that here?)

Because tbh, they are characters anything goes, s/x it takes people a long time to figure this stuff out. Sometimes they repress it for years, and so on. Sometimes they don’t have the language to express these things until they do. Which, I mean just look at them, either could totally be like “hey wait that’s what sexual attraction is? Huh. I need to go learn some things” or even “romance is what now? Hmm I need to go learn some things.” I could easily read Buck as ace, because even tho he’s had a lot of sex it’s easily read as he is just chasing pleasure and something to do, he’s just like “yea sure I guess that’s fun” and when he’s asked so you like them he’s like “well we had sex so I have to right?” Or how both are just trying to fill the role society expects of them as men. Aromantic? Both of them seem uninterested in the relationships they enter, it’s more the mechanics of “well that person was there and everyone seemed to think it made sense so I guess?” At least not much more interested than friendships. There are so many options those are just some examples. However this does not answer the shipping portion, which isn’t necessary but I did set up the expectation and I shall endeavor to meet it.

Now of course ace/aro people can just date (or not, but again we aren’t here for that, plz explore if you wish) -there are spectrums and also, people are complex. They can be in non traditional relationships like QPR’s, or even not really formalizing that. People can get married because they are just like “you’re great and marriage has benefits”, or even just move in together b/c it is cheaper -and they like the company. With this ships there is the child angle, which can set up all sorts of stories. So plz, go wild with that too.

*I say this because, it decreases the attachment to a singular idea or way things should play out when you just give up on that.

Ps. tbh makes me a little sad that the wider population isn’t aware of aro/ace people b/c it would open up so many interesting stories. Buddie (or even though this isn’t the topic them alone!) could be a great example of this b/c look at them!

1.) i liked the donor-not-dad storyline because it showed that no matter the circumstances of your conception and birth, you deserve to be loved unconditionally by your parents. i think that this will ultimately help buck to find peace with his own backstory 😭

2.) buck id not regress for choosing to date natalia?! we saw buck happily choose to only have an armchair for months after taylor (meaning he was okay with being alone), and he happily accepted his parents buying him a couch (showing that they are closer and buck is happy to have them in his life more). he went at his own pace, and we clearly see that by immediately choosing to get a new couch after the childbirth, he is finally at a place where he is ready for somebody new in his life. plus, he is the one buying his own couch, simply inviting natalia along, which is a beautiful metaphor imo

3.) alternatively, choosing eddie's couch would have been a regression even though buddies love to ignore that. buck said his past girlfriends "came with couches", meaning that those couches were not his in the first place and that none of them truly met them where he is at. we see that well with buck having no couch because taylor took hers with her when she left. buck choosing somebody else's couch again would have shown that he has not learned a lesson. so there.

3.) i think that natalia coming off strong at first is actually paralleling buck perfectly? he comes off strong, overshares often, and tends to overwhelms others. people judge her for it but… buck did worse in their second date lmao

4.) natalia stepping into buck's scary mess during the childbirth scene showed literally and metaphorically how she was willing to accept all of buck, his life and past and baggage

5.) the characters saying shit does not mean they are all-knowing! 🙄 yes, eddie said that meeting people on a call is bad, but we also know that bobby and athena met on a call and are endgame. we see these characters contradicting themselves a lot because that's how humans are. the fandom gotta stop taking the characters' words like the word of a god. the narrative's entire point is to teach them (and us) that their way of thinking may be bullshit sometimes

2.1). there's a phenomenon in this fandom where fans will outright ignore things in canon/twist it to fit the Buddie Agenda and the WORST thing is that the buddie subsection of this fandom is like a fucking HIVEMIND. the theories are made, sometimes even taking canon and twisting it around to Fit Buddie, and then everyone just takes it and runs with it. everyone freaks out abt the couch theory in particular. so you hit the nail exactly on the head with the couch metaphor thing because everyone LOOOVES to say buck needs to choose eddie's couch but that's exactly what he did with taylor!! and abby!!!! and everyone else!! just because it's eddie doesn't mean he's not just another relationship in a long line of relationships!!!! it's just. very telling how the fandom has blinders on when it comes to buddie. and yeah sure fandom is for crazy theories and having fun with them but there comes a point where the crazy theories are completely overtaking the entire fucking fandom so people who want to enjoy other characters just. can't.

I'd also like to add that for eddie, it's TRUE that people he meets on calls aren't necessarily great partners. he'd met ana before, of course, but it was when they bumped into each other on the call where they actually started seeing each other as a romantic interest. and well we all know how that turned out. so when eddie says this I strongly believe that that's why!! but you're exactly right when you say it's not necessarily the case!! eddie's just one guy, who has been affected by this in a certain way, and so of course he's saying that that's the given outcome because it's what happened to him!!!! but bobby and athena met on a call, and so did hen and athena, but both of those relationships are strong and solid!! imo eddie is a very unreliable narrator here because the thing with ana probably still stings, so he's just saying things without really thinking through that they might not be true for other people like bathena, and could potentially be untrue for others as well. there's just. an insane amount of fandom illiteracy the SECOND either buck or eddie are involved because all anyone can ever talk about is how much they want them to kiss. and also you're so RIGHT that people take things characters say as gospel truth when they're LITERALLY just people in a story.

YESSSSSS IM SO GLAD YOU LIKED IT!!!! honestly it's probably one of my fav episodes!!!!! my ONE SINGULAR gripe is that there wasn't a lot of time spent recovering, even for chim, eddie, and hen, who all had fairly severe injuries. they were all at the hospital one second, and then there was a time skip and they were all walking around fit as a fiddle. however I understand that they thought it was gonna be The Finale so they wanted to wrap up everyone's arcs as best as they could, and they didn't really have enough time to put in everything that they wanted to put. so the gripe is a minor one, and besides, I've added some ideas to the list of fic to write <3
