#and is just livin in the plane of fire

I have another Gideon headcanon I’ve been playing around with, and it has relation to the “burning blue when emotioned enough” headcanon (in some degree).
Okay, SO. Gideon’s a fire genasi, right? So his hair does the flame thing, whatever. Well, the material plane isn’t generally hot enough for most fire elementals, which is why they’re not very common outside of certain locations. But, of course, fire genasi are different bc they’re a mix between a human and a fire elemental (just to simplify things here bc i actually did some research on this and it’s actually very interesting).
Anyway, you know on how Gideon’s hair is a dark brown with the tips being embers? Well, I imagine if Gideon were to be somewhere that WAS hot enough to naturally support a fire elemental (say, a volcano or the elemental plane of fire), then his hair would be full on fire. Kinda like how he’s depicted in some of the animated shorts, except his hair is only like that when it’s hot enough to support it.
In a similar vein, I imagine if he was somewhere that is incredibly cold—like, for instance, Drakkar—then his hair would appear black, with dull red tips (if not brown).
Idk, for some reason a lot of my headcanons surrounding Gideon relate to his hair. Idk why. His hair is just interesting to me. I kinda wanna play around with it.
#also I think Gids mom is either another fire Genasi or just straight up a fire elemental#and is just livin in the plane of fire#tho I keep picturing her as a flame atronoch from Skyrim#which if you don’t know what they look like look it up#sexy fire woman who will kill me in a matter of seconds my beloved#(I say as a wizard summons a flame atronoch and immediately kill’s me)#legends of avantris#once upon a witchlight#ouaw#gideon coal

❝Jack Kelly was the fearless, charismatic leader of the Manhattan newsies. His name was respected in all the city, even by Spot Conlon himself. A good fighter, a great newsie, and even a father figure to some of the kids in his care. With that kind of resume, one would assume that there weren't a lot of things that scared him, and they would be right.
But then, there came the girl.
And boy, was he scared.❞

“I can’t do this, Dave.”
Jack groaned and pressed his forehead against the brick wall. Davey, arms crossed and standing next to him, rolled his eyes. “Jack, we’ve gone over this ten times.”
Jack turned to look at him. “It’s been ten already?”
“Well, eleven.”
Jack ran a shaky hand through his hair. He shrugged, straightened his vest, adjusted his hat, dusted off his pants, did every little thing to smoothen out every single one of his rough, ragged edges. He took a deep breath of the cool afternoon breeze. “Do I look okay?” he asked.
“You look fine,” replied Crutchie, patting him on the back.
Jack tensed up. “Fine ain’t gonna cut it.”
“What he means to say,” Davey quickly interjected. “Is that you look ready.”
Jack was quiet. Was he ready, though? I mean, he had to be. He had been prepping for this day for over a month. He had dreamed of this! Of course he was ready!
“I don’t feel like it,” he mumbled, finding his voice.
Davey put a hand on Jack’s shoulder. “You’ll be fine,” he reassured. “The fact that you even prepared is more than enough. She’s gonna love it.”
Crutchie hummed in agreement. Jack grumbled and fixed his collar. Looking over Davey’s shoulder, he instantly tensed up. Whispering to his two friends and patting their backs, he quickly sent them away. They crossed the street, briefly smiling and waving at the approaching girl.

With that kind of resume, one would assume that there weren't a lot of things that scared him, and they would be right.
But then, there came the girl.
And boy, was he scared.
“Hey!” a chipper voice called. There she was, now taking her last few steps towards him; Katherine Plumber: his latest love, and his latest fear.
“Heya, Kat,” Jack replied, grinning. He held out his arm. “Shall we, Miss Plumber?”
Katherine giggled. “After you, Mister Kelly.”
As much as he was a nervous wreck behind his facade, he was genuinely glad that this day had come. It would just be them and the fire escape, plain and simple. No need to worry about the noise of the world below. What could possibly go wrong?
Not a lot, Jack prayed.
He led her up the rusted metal rails, slowing down to match her pace. As much as her long skirt and boots proved to be a nuisance, Katherine’s heart began to swirl with exhilaration. She had been up this way before, but the feeling of climbing so high up was still an adventure to her. As the ground grew further and further away, the more her heart pumped.
“Well, here she is,” Jack spoke, swinging open a small metal gate. “Welcome to my “penthouse”.”
In reality, the area was rather small, just enough to fit two boys and a sack of belongings in the corner. But as soon as Katherine turned around, she quickly remembered where Jack got the name from. She was met with the sight of hundreds of buildings, probably even thousands, if she counted. She leaned forward on the railing. The last time she was here was under much different circumstances, and it was only now that she got to properly take in the view. All of them looked so proud and tall from the ground. It’s crazy how different things can seem when you put them in a new perspective, she realized.
“We’re so high up,” whispered Katherine.
“Yeah,” replied Jack.
Jack quietly joined her side, looking out into the skyline he knew so well. It was weird, he thought. He had seen this view thousands of times before, it became just another part of living here. But now, the water towers and the buildings and their big signs all seemed to have a new glow in the afternoon sun. But the sun couldn’t do much. Perhaps it was who he was with that made all the difference, and who shined brighter than the sun could ever hope to.
“It’s beautiful,” added Katherine, a smile tugging at her lips.
Jack turned to look at her. “Not as beautiful as you.”
She laughed, feeling heat quickly rush to her face. “Are you afraid of heights?”
“Would I be livin’ up here if I was?”
“Ha! Fair enough.”
“Are you?” asked Jack.
Katherine paused, then leaned closer to him. “Not anymore.”
Jack stayed still, even though his face was already flushed. Awkwardly clearing his throat, he gestured for them to sit down on a neatly laid-out blanket. She gave him an amusing look, but played along. “So,” he began, quickly changing the topic. “How’s work?”
“It’s been okay, just grabbing whatever story I can find,” replied Katherine.
“Anybody givin’ ya trouble?”
She shrugged. “Not really, actually. After I wrote about you and the boys, a lot of people started taking me more seriously.”
“Good,” said Jack. “It’s better than the ballet, ain’t it?”
“Anything’s better than the ballet.”
They laughed. Although they would never say it out loud, if you’d ask them, they would say that the other’s laugh could light up New York.
“How about you? How’s work?” asked Katherine, shifting in her place.
“Same old thing,” answered Jack. “The fellas are doin’ okay. Oh, and this mornin’, Finch hit one a’ the Delanceys in the head with his slingshot.”
She chuckled, eyes widening in surprise. “Really?”
“Yeah! Kid ran like hell, I tell ya.”
“Who was it, Oscar or Morris?”
Jack scratched his head. “Morris, I think.”
Katherine smiled to herself, her eyes distant for a brief moment. “You know, I went to kindergarten with them.”
Jack’s mouth gaped. “You know the Delanceys? You went to school with ‘em?”
“Yeah,” she laughed. “They were the biggest troublemakers. There wouldn’t be a day where they wouldn’t be in the time-out corner. Oh, and when both of them got into trouble, the teacher would put them on opposite ends of the room.”
“Sounds about right,” he remarked. As soon as she turned her head, Jack quickly hid the newspaper he was sketching on.
“How’s Crutchie doing, by the way?” she asked.
“He’s doin’ fine. Still smilin’ no matter what, if that’s what you mean. Folks are happy to see him back on the street. ‘S got loyal customers that got worried when he stopped showin’ up. That kid’s a ray a’ sunshine.”
“I’m sure.” Katherine’s heart softened, watching a warm smile creep up on Jack’s face at the thought of his best friend. She looked around. As simple as his humble abode was, she couldn’t help but be charmed. It was like his own little safe haven, a place that the noisy, messy world below could never reach. “When did you start living up here?”
He shrugged. “Probably one, two years ago?”
She nodded. “Why don’t you live in the Lodging House?”
“‘S mostly to give the other kids more room,” replied Jack. “Plus, nothin’ beats the view up here.”
“Oh, I’m sure.” Katherine stood up and looked back out into the city.
Jack noticed her long silence and looked up at her, the girl and her wonder-filled eyes, gazing at a city that was at her fingertips. Her father ran this town. He owned the biggest newspaper business in all the country. With that kind of power, she would have all sorts of friends in high spaces. Friends with big houses, fancy clothes, and money to burn. Right now, she could’ve been anywhere else, hanging with high society’s cream of the crop.
But she wasn’t, he realized. She was with him. Just another scrappy newsboy with a dream.
It was no secret that Katherine grew up much more differently than the newsies; the world was practically handed to her on a silver platter. She never had to want for much. She had money, status, and everything a girl could wish for. Her father was the wealthiest man in the whole city. But being up here, being with him, it was something she wouldn’t trade for anything her father could buy.
Jack quietly stood up beside her, and taking a breath, he threw a newspaper airplane, interrupting her trance. They smiled at each other, watching the high, crisp breeze carry it away. She folded another sheet and threw it off the fire escape, but it only got so far until it took a nosedive.
“At least it’ll be easier to find,” said Jack.
Katherine laughed. “I was never good at paper planes.” Her eyes caught sight of the World building, not too far away. “Say, have you thought about the job my father gave you?”
Jack stared at his own plane, still flying in the distance. “‘M plannin’ on takin’ it.”
Her face lit up. Jack could be illustrating for the papers, a job that would pay much more than hawking them. “Really?”
“Dunno how I’m gonna take it, though,” he added. “How’s it work? What, do I just walk in or somethin’ an’ tell ‘em I want the job?”
“I can arrange an interview for you,” she replied. A chill went down his spine. “I gotta talk to folks like them?”
Katherine put a hand on his shoulder. “You’re gonna be fine,” she gently said. “They know an artist when they see one. And don’t worry, they’re not gonna be super harsh.”
“Here’s to hopin’.” Jack sighed, seeing his paper plane finally hit a far-off wall and fall to the ground. They were quiet for a moment. He blinked, finding the courage to ask her something he’d been meaning to, for a while.
“Why me?” he asked.
She looked at him, raising an eyebrow. “What?”
He repeated the question, but she only gave him a confused look. He decided to rephrase. “Why do you hang around with me?”
“What do you mean “why”?”
“Why?” Jack repeated a third time. “Why me? You got lots’a other guys to choose from, they’s probably better than I’ll ever be. This kinda thing, it’s just- it’s never happened before.”
Katherine paused, giving him a tender look. “It hasn’t,” she began. “Even I’m surprised, to be honest. But, you know why. You were one of the first- only people to believe in me. And that means something. Not a lot of guys are like you, Jack.”
It was true. The strike gave them something to fight for that was much bigger than themselves. What only started as an effort to lower the price of newspapers gave light to the importance of the rights of New York’s working kids. And, in the midst of the whirlwind, they found each other. Just two kids fighting for what they believed in.
They didn’t say it, but a familiar, warm feeling began to form in their chests. It was there, in the wind that rushed past them, in the way they simply stood together, in the way he slowly reached to lace his fingers with hers. And it was there in their silence; though there wasn’t much to say, as young as they were, they understood.
Jack kissed her on the forehead and pulled her into a slightly swaying embrace. “For sure?” he whispered into her hair.
“For sure,” she mumbled into his chest. Her mind calmed while she listened to the beating of his heart.
“Your father ain’t too happy with us bein’ here.”
“He isn’t.”
“Does he know I climb the fire escape after work to see ya?”
“He does.”
“Good.”
They softly laughed. He wished things could stay like this forever. So did she.
Jack pulled away and held her hand. He picked up a bundle of newspapers and shoved them into his back pocket. “Let’s get you back ‘fore he sends the Bulls after me.”
Katherine chuckled. They went the same way they came, the city below growing louder and louder around them with every step. She’d almost forgotten how noisy these streets actually were. She was fine walking herself back to the World, despite Jack’s insistence to take her there. With a kiss and a wave goodbye, the two went their separate ways.
As soon as Jack rounded a corner, he exhaled deeply. He leaned on the brick wall and ran a hand through his hair, a smile creeping on his face. It felt like a dream; he managed to score a date, and with a girl like her. He wished she could’ve stayed longer, but at least he had those sketches he made of her.
But then, his eyes widened.
They weren’t there.
Meanwhile elsewhere, Katherine hadn’t gone too far away when she stopped, stepping on a newspaper airplane. And unfolding it, she couldn’t hold in her smile.

please consider donating to my ko-fi!
Kravitz can’t find his cloak.
That wouldn’t normally be a problem. It’s a material construct that he can dematerialize and summon at will. Technically, it’s an extension of his manifest, which in the past has led to some fairly interesting discussions over the sacrament of pillow talk. But lately he’s found snippets of information and common sense slipping through his brain like a sieve—human error, he might have called it, had he been human. The thing about the real world is that it’s bright and loud and it moves terribly fast, and the passage of time is stiffly marked by increments of hours and minutes and seconds, and for how long he’s been living with Taako in the material plane, one would think he’d be used to it.
He isn’t.
That’s why the watch sitting on his wrist reads a good ten minutes after when he was supposed to be at the office. (At least, it would, if it told time in minutes—it’s more of a vague impression of lateness, which Kravitz feels like a prickle across his neck.) Taako’s side of the bed is empty; he’s a surprisingly diligent early riser when he needs to be, which means he’s (a) already at work and (b) mercifully not there to see Kravitz on his knees, digging through the sea of clothes that smother the floor of their walk-in closet. It’s not the way he’d wanted to spend his morning and it certainly isn’t the way he’d expected.
He’s been at it for some time now—if he has to approximate, about the length of a wine being aged, or a star being born—and some endeavors, however brave, must ultimately be abandoned. Kravitz stands up, immediately slips on a gauzy blouse, and lands on his back with a mountain of scarves to cushion his fall. And oh, that is it. The sun isn’t risen and he’s already had it.
He storms into the living room in a huff, thinking maybe if he checks the coat rack one more time, it’ll just magically appear. The universe owes him a few small miracles, anyway. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to want him to cash in, because his cloak isn’t hanging on the rack, and it isn’t draped over the arm of their recliner like it is when he’s too agitated to bother. Kravitz’s gaze darts from the recliner to the couch, where a lamp’s soft light breaks up the monotony of darkness, and then he sees it. A layer of impossibly soft suede and peaceful, settled feathers, wrapped tightly around Taako’s sleeping form.
“Oh,” Kravitz breathes, and just like that, he morning’s frustration melts away. Taako’s ears are set at a relaxed incline, and his lips are slightly parted by the occasional shallow exhale. He’s actually sleeping, Kravitz knows; not trancing, because there is no telltale flutter of his eyelashes or complete, meditative stillness. When he shifts, the cloak shifts with him, feathers perking and ruffling before they settle again. Kravitz has never known it to attune itself to anyone other than him, but somehow, he thinks, it suits Taako well.
He rocks back on his heels, debating the possibility of just going to work without the thing; he can do without a little dramatic flair just once. Of course, his internal agonizing is promptly cut short when Taako stirs again and looks blearily up at him.
“Mm,” he says, and then tries again. “Hi.”
“Hi,” says Kravitz, softly. “I thought you were at work.”
Taako shrugs. “Couldn’t sleep. Thought I’d go ’n, uh…” He breaks off into a tiny yawn. “Thought I’d make some tea or somethin’. Kinda ended up here instead.”
Ended up here, indeed. Kravitz is familiar with Taako’s late-night pacing and unconventional rhythms. On some particularly restless nights, he’ll wake up to hear pots and pans clanging in the kitchen, or something sizzling on the stove. After he wakes up, he very rarely falls asleep again. Kravitz, for whom Circadian cycles really don’t mean anything, tends to stay up with him.
Which is why this is so rare. And now he’s kicking himself for practically standing around and waiting for Taako to wake, even though Taako himself doesn’t seem bothered. Instead, he detangles his arms from the folds of Kravitz’s cloak and reaches out.
“Why’re you just standin’ around like that?” he mumbles. “C’mere.”
Kravitz’s work-oriented self says, I can’t, I really have to go, it’s a lot easier than it should be to blow off an actual goddess and I shouldn’t be taking advantage of that. The part of him that’s exhausted and aching from frantically digging through a mountain of clothes gives in straightaway. He relents, and Taako inches toward the edge of the couch, still half-buried under a mound of feathers. With admittedly practiced ease, Kravitz climbs carefully over Taako’s legs and tosses a few pillows to the ground as he situates himself. Before he can get himself completely settled, though, Taako shifts again and tucks himself into Kravitz’s side, prodding at the cloak to drape it over them both. A soft, familiar hum of static ripples over them as it comes back into contact with its original owner, and the feathers shudder, then go dormant once more.
“I should be at work,” he says, to no one in particular.
The cloak flutters as Taako shrugs. “You can kick it for a couple hours, right? They try to send Barry or Lup after us, I’ll just throw up some good ol’ wards around the place.”
“You know that would kick me out too, right?”
“Really? Shit. Guess we’re livin’ on a prayer, then.” He snickers at his own wit. “Anyway, we both—we deserve a day off. Or at least a morning off. If it’s even morning. What time is it?”
Kravitz thumbs absently over Taako’s hairline and says, “What were you doing up?”
“Huh?” Taako’s eyes flick to his through a few angled feathers. “Like I said. Just, uh… just got, uh, restless. Happens sometimes, y’know?”
He’s holding Kravitz’s gaze too steadily. It’s a tell he himself is more than familiar with—in a gamble, for instance, a bluff is always faulted by the player’s overconfidence. If they act too honest, too assured, the façade drops faster than they can fold.
Taako is remarkably good at façades, but lying to Kravitz is the one thing he’s never seemed to have gotten down. It probably denotes something meaningful, which doesn’t really matter right now, because Kravitz is only concerned with why Taako would be lying.
The answer probably is, as it so often seems to be nowadays, Because I didn’t want you to worry.
His husband threads a few of the feathers between his fingers, and the back of Kravitz’s neck prickles, although not altogether unpleasantly. “Okay, yeah. It was just a—just a fucked-up nightmare, okay? I didn’t do anything bad. It’s all—Taako’s all good. I just couldn’t stay in there.” He tips his head in the vague direction of their bedroom, where the covers on their bed are now thrown back on both sides, and the floor is covered in clothing.
The cloak gives another brief, distinctly anxious shudder, and suddenly its attunement to Taako makes a lot more sense. Kravitz can feel that anxiety in the pit of his stomach as easily as if it were his own. If the cloak is an extension of his soul, then they’re soulbound, or something to that end. (There’s another word for what they are, in another universe, where those bonds are etched deep into their skin. But that sort of thing is better suited for a different story.)
So Taako isn’t all good. It doesn’t take a soulbinding to know that. But he shifts the cloak over his shoulder and Kravitz notices that his breathing is even, his pupils thin and ears still lying dormant. He is, for all intents and purposes, at peace as he tucks his head under Kravitz’s chin and toys with the collar of his shirt. There’s truth in that much, at least.
And maybe it’s selfish—hell, it’s probably the most wishful he’ll ever be in his thinking. But Kravitz can’t help but notice the way Taako shrinks stubbornly under the cloak, like it’s shielding against the open air or some residual darkness. And because it’s far too early in the morning and exhaustion is starting to drag at his eyelids again, he has to ask.
“Does this—does it help?”
“Does what help?”
“The, uh… the cloak.”
“It’s not—” Taako scoffs. “It’s not a fuckin’—security blanket. I was just cold, okay?”
He doesn’t want a response to that, not really. So Kravitz threads his fingers fondly through Taako’s hair, which as of late has been more of a reflex than anything else, and Taako moves a little closer and reaches up drowsily to return it in kind. Regardless of whatever had roused him at some ungodly hour, in the moment he looks more than recovered. Kravitz watches his eyelashes flutter and thinks as long as it’s over, he doesn’t need to know. Not now.
(It’ll come up in conversation, as it always does, over a candlelit table for two or in front of a raging fire when all they have is each other, and the honesty that follows at the heels of those moments. Sometimes truth is a slow burn, and sometimes it’s spontaneous and a little drunk, and they’ve both found they’re alright with that.)
The clock on their far wall ticks softly away, and they lie curled into each other under the cloak, dozing as the sky starts to grow paler and Kravitz’s watch informs him, in a language older than time itself, that it’s really not even worth going into work at this point. The Raven Queen’s resonance hasn’t reached out, he’s noticed; nor have Lup or Barry smashed through the entryway and demanded to know where the fight is. It’s a quiet, far-too-early morning, and they’re safe and warm and all they have is each other.
Taako is the first to break the silence.
“Alright,” he mumbles, and then, “fine, get off my shit, it kinda—it’s part of your manifest or whatever, right? So, yeah, it makes me feel safe. Duh.”
His expression is nearly impossible to make out under the feathered hem, but the tips of Taako’s ears are slightly flushed in a very familiar way.
You make me feel safe.
Kravitz has gotten pretty adept at reading between the lines, and for good reason.
“Well,” he says. “That’s what I’m here for. Quite literally, in this case.”
A bit of the cloak hits him in the shoulder, and, well, fine, he deserved that. “That barely made any fuckin’ sense.”
“It’s not even six-thirty, you can’t expect me to make sense.”
“You’re a dork,” Taako snarks, and tugs at his collar again, and pulls Kravitz in for a kiss. It’s sharp and languid and perfectly suited for the early morning, and the pale sky, and the way they’re both clinging to each other for balance. The cloak’s feathers jump and flutter excitedly. He’s late—dear gods, he’s so late—and it’s perfect.
They pull apart, and his husband’s voice is light and breathless as he says, “You stickin’ around?”
And it’s by sheer coincidence—although if the universe has taught him anything, it’s that a coincidence is more often than not a trick of Fate—that right then, the Raven Queen’s voice echoes in his head.
IS EVERYTHING ALRIGHT, MY SON? comes the projection, strong and full but cautious in volume (because they’ve both learned from incidents past). HAVE YOU ELECTED TO… TAKE A DAY OFF, AS THE MORTALS SAY?
Kravitz locks his gaze with Taako’s.
“Yeah,” he says. “I’m exactly where I need to be.”

Johnson and Gilligan’s “Two Weeks in Hell”
(And Other Strange Purchases from the Dream Marketplace)
“Excuse me, is that a Boeing-737?” I say, shuffling my feet toward the sun-bathed creature at my direct far-left. She looks puzzlingly; examiningly, I may say. The hiss and growl of machinery crawl in my ear and scream me deaf. I point the ample-titted Mary toward the hulking plane which soars just overhead and nearly rips my head in two.
“I said- is that a Boeing-737!”
“I can’t hear you over this Boeing-737!”
“What!”
“I said-” Useless. The woman-species has proven futile in the quest for a simple inquiry; not the first, nor the last time. The beastly idiot-mother - she which has denied the relinquishment of her youth for twenty years beyond her prime - those which should sag, perpetuated unnecessarily by the vanity of the grotesque, obscene, leech-brained Mother of the illiterate and the neurotic. I dream of heaving those mammaries-in-denial straight into the sky - sending them through a jet engine, shredded upon contact, clogging the deafening mechanical beast with silicon and sending it spiraling into the Atlantic abyss! What a glorious lark, what a plunge, what a-
“Excuse me, is that a Boeing-737!” says a blind fellow, whose grasp encompasses my shoulder.
“What!”
“I said, is that a-”
“Is that a Boeing-737!” He shrugs and falls away. Signs read, ‘Florida Man mauled to death poking alligator with stick down in the bayou’, and then flash green, and bathe under the sunlight for two hours, and then melt away. It is silent now except for the radiating humidity and a hose attached to an extinguisher, whirling in the air and spouting ocean-water until the water goes back in the ocean. The ocean is next to the road and the road is next to a highway and the highway is next to three buildings; one looks like Miami and the other looks like an airplane and the other looks like a hit disco nightclub, in bright blue neon script, “Havana.” Vehicles zip through the interstate route, six lanes of terrifying speed and inhumanity, the road threatening to jump up and and strike my elbow bloody and pull me down; litter-infested industrial non-sentient rats screaming by at eighty miles an hour and blowing down palm trees as they go by,
All standing between myself and the hit disco nightclub, “Havana.” Threat levels rise as I inch forward with a single-toe, testing the dangerous and rabid white-foaming waves, biting back, and
I close my eyes and hold my breath and plunge into the polychromatic midnight-indigo entrance of the hit disco nightclub, “Havana”; there’s another doorway and I’m in a dimly-lit waiting room. A bouncer stands before me, an immovable palm tree of a man with laser-show pink stealing through the cracks and reflecting against his massive white shoes.
“Tell me the business,” I say. He nods and steps aside. The beat rises like heat from the pavement, the funk pours in as the doorway proceeds open, lights dazzle epileptically across the purple-checkered dance floor, littered with inflatable tube men embracing and assaulting each other; simultaneous and communal and chaotic, stuck in their single inflatable spot and reaching across and then up and falling down, to repeat the process.
“A sight to behold,” a voice comes over the PA. I nod. Four non-inflatable men, apparently Puerto-Rican or Dominican, donning green-striped zoot suits, dart their eyes my way. Two drop their shades, like Risky Business; one spills his drink all over himself and blushes; the other, long and handsome, hair slicked all the way back, pulls me forth on an invisible rope, stringing me toward the floor and dancing away. I feel my bones give way to the liquid-
“Feel your bones melt into the radioactive beat, my sweet child,” says the PA. I am amid the chaos of dozens of inflatable men and four zoot-suited Dominicans, shoulders and waist in unison; the disco-flavor is ingestible, and open my eyes to see that I, too, am donning the slick-sly-livin’ green-striped zoot suit. This is the moment; I am the moment; I am not me; I am- I am- I am-
“You are the child of a new funk,” says the PA; euphoria emanates from my core, stings my extremities; I feel alive and dead and passed on to a higher groove.
“Florida Man mauled to death,” says the PA, and a beat drop. “Poking alligator,” the voice melts into the music, “down in the bayou.”
* * *
“We may have to commit violent crimes,” says the slick green zoot to his friends, over a radioactive yellow drink that spills over the side and melts through the wood floor.
“I don’t think.”
“We could, but the logistical processes are immense.”
“Is she prepared for-”
“Of course she-”
“The island is a horrible dangerous venue, complete with razor blades on all corners of the mountain, and such a trek could not possibly be expected of a mere-”
“Are you in?” The zoots pause their quibbling; they shoot expecting glances toward me. “Are you in,” he repeats. Anticipation motors overhead, lingers in the air like silicon-shredded tits behind a malfunctioned jet engine. The inflatable tube men lean closer. The music ceases; the frogs no longer croak; the world is at a stand still. “Are you-”
“Well, is this Havana?” I reply. It remains still for a moment; the men then throw their collective arms up with all the inflatable tube men, and a ‘huzzah’ the size of Tampa overtakes the “Havana.” I relish briefly in the sweet moment and three of the zoots melt into the floor; the remaining one follows me toward the backroom. There stands another palm-tree bouncer with huge white shoes.
“It is Tuesday,” he tells me.
“Now it is Thursday,” I reply as Christ himself, shattering the previously accepted bounds of time and space. He complies. The zoot hurries alongside my epochal steps, which surpass thousands of documents in a mere instant. The room we enter is dark, noir-esque; my zoot suit turns monochromatic. The room is heated, dry like baked ceramic. It pervades my lungs. It smells of vast conspiracy.
“We’re looking for a book,” he says. I slant my eyes and light a cigarette, and look about the room. A small office, blinds drawn, entirely black and white. A coat rack in the corner is bare; papers are strewn hectically across the desk in front of dozens of filing cabinets. The door reads, backwards, ‘FITZGERALD, M.D.’ I remember being here before; scheming of some sort, and the overwhelming existential dread of a plan gone awry. I clear my throat, compose myself, exhale smoke from my nose, and speak from the far corner of my mouth:
“What kind of book… fiction?” The zoot falls silent and looks suspiciously at the oncoming shadow; he hides behind the coat rack. A dame staggers in and falls drunkenly across the desk, failing to notice me standing there with a cigarette frozen to my lips. An incoherent tune passes through her messy red lipstick in heaving, inebriated sighs. Some sort of old jazzy standard, mixed with a cheap perversion of the Star Spangled Banner. Her sweeping, bare leg knocks a stapler across the floor, and she looks up with the expression of a junkie whose stove has caught fire.
“Who are-” she burps, the words falling from her slacken jaw. “You’re not supposed- this isn’t your office.”
“Dammit, Johnson, get this whore out of here!” the zoot exclaims fiercely, storming out from behind the wall with a ‘FITZGERALD, M.D.’ nametag sewn to his shirt. “This is no time for games; I, the owner of this fine establishment, have pressing matters to attend to.”
“I don’t understand-” the zoot knocks her unconscious with a swift and gruesome blow to her painted cheek; the whore goes flying into the back wall, and the zoot turns away with the look of a prize fighter, shaking his hand painfully. He rips off the nametag, crushes it beneath his foot, and spits on the remains.
“My name’s not Fitzgerald, anyway.”
“Who’s Johnson?”
“We’re in too deep now, Johnson.”
“What about the book,” I reply.
“Yes, of course; nonfiction. Island based. Look for the volcano with razors,” says the zoot. I drag the befallen whore across the floor to get to the ‘I’ filing terminal. Behind her is a pool of dried blood; her lipstick has turned a shade of grey. Sunlight, peering through the drawn shades, strikes obliquely across her exposed cleavage.
“What a mess,” I comment. The zoot spins his detective hat around and removes a magnifying glass from the front of his pocket.
“We’re in too deep now,” he says.
“We haven’t much time.”
“We’ve committed a violent crime, Johnson. Barbaric, illegal, striking at the very core of man’s depraved soul. The question is: whether you, a capable man but surely one of a decent moral fibre, maybe a tinge of childhood innocence lurking in your soul - whether you are willing to confront those demons when the inevitable day comes.”
“Volcano with razors,” I reply.
“This is not a game. The stakes have been raised infinitely. This poor woman, probably a mother, certainly a daughter - her blood is on our hands.”
“Volcano with razors. Volcano with razors. Volcano with”
“That is the owner’s daughter which you’ve so ruthlessly struck down, Johnson. Notice the dark-grey appearance about her; lifeless! just as every other god-forsaken item in this room. Gone. Dead. Sunken into the earth, receded into a dark and timeless void beyond our solar system. She, whose demise is a mere infinitesimal speck on the blood-stained shirt of humanity’s graveyard!”
“Volcano with razors.”
“Murder, Johnson; goddammit, it’s murder!”
“Got it! Volcano with razors.”
“Delightful!” The zoot rubs his fingers across my cheek affectionately, burns my temple with a wet kiss, and removes the book from my grasp. He rotates it thrice, and sifts through the pages hastily.
“Aha!” he exclaims. “This is it. You’ve done it again, Johnson!”
“Volcano with razors.”
“Yes, Johnson, very good.”
“Volcano with razors.”
“We must first attain a million dollar boat; inflatable, preferably. And then we may proceed to the next step of our plan.”
“What is the next step,” I inquire.
“We may have to commit more violent crimes, Johnson.”
“It’s Tuesday now,” I reply five days later. The zoot has crowded himself into the back corner, five o’clock shadow stuck indelibly to his chin. He gnaws hungrily at the cuff of his suit, struck by the vanity of it all.
“Johnson, we’ve killed the owner’s daughter.”
“Have we yet attained the million dollar boat.”
“I cannot stand to look anymore at these grey walls. A man needs color in his life, Johnson. A man needs sexual gratification. Will you make love to me, Johnson?”
“It is Wednesday now.”
“Have you any idea what it is like to starve oneself of physical intimacy and nutritional sustenance for nearly a week, Johnson? I could eat my own suit.”
“You already have,” I reply.
“That is correct, yes. I remember yesterday quite clearly. The pain is immense, but my memory is still sharp. I say, Johnson, the digestion of that seersucker cotton has certainly been something of a struggle.”
“Yes, it has.”
“Oh, the defecation, don’t mind that. Merely the sign of a healthy and functioning digestive system. In the black and white you cannot make out the entrails quite so clearly.”
“It is Sunday now.”
“The Lord’s day on Earth, Johnson. Perhaps this time he shall save us from this noir-influenced hellhole. Johnson, are you going to eat that suit anytime soon?”
“I am quite full, courtesy of the dinners brought to us by the owner’s secretary.”
“May I have that suit?”
“It is Thursday now.”
“One week and nine days, Johnson. An insufferable experience, surely; but there is no man I would have rather spent it with than you.”
“I’m a woman.” The phone rings.
“Yes,” the zoot says. “Killed the owner’s daughter, yes. Banned from the club, you say? The most expected route of action, undoubtedly. I am truly sorry for going through your things, sir. Yes, I will let Johnson know. Yes, yes. No, no. Perhaps. Well, I would not say I was discourteous in refusing the secretary’s dinners, but I was quite full from the suit; you could understand. Mmhm. Repulsive, you say? Well, I have not exactly kept my body in peak physical condition, but that seems a bit harsh. Get the Hell out? Surely, sir. Thank you for the extended stay.”
“Johnson.”
“Yes?”
“Check the phone, please.”
“But you’re holding the phone.”
“Not this phone; the computer… no, not that computer; the printer.” There is a letter, in color, designed much in the way of a diploma. It reads: ‘We hereby grant the deed of ONE ONE-MILLION DOLLAR INFLATABLE BOAT to a Mr. D. Gilligan, courtesy of the Avalanche Holding Company.’
“Who is D. Gilligan,” I inquire.
“Avalanche Holding Company… where do I know that name?”
“Who is D. Gilligan?”
* * *
“I tell you, I’ve had plenty of fine meals in my lifetime, but nothing in life compares to the pop! of the reds and blues and yellows after two weeks and two days in that monotonous hellhole.” Gilligan has one hand on the steering wheel of his classic convertible sportcar, and the other is chomping on the blunt end of a thicket of seersucker cotton. His teeth gnash expertly through the various tightly-wound fibers, and sit dryly at the back of his throat.
“Johnson, grab me a glass of water, will you?”
“You haven’t any water in here.”
“Grab it from the ocean, Johnson! The coastline is your proverbial oyster! Nothing can stop us now; ‘tis but a dreamland!” I do exactly so, and he thanks me kindly while removing his other hand from the wheel to suck down the musty ocean water. “Doesn’t it feel good to be alive once more, my friend?” Johnson throws the glass across the interstate pavement, and places a pair of sunglasses at the tip of his nose. “Miami Vice, Johnson!”
“I suppose it feels positively enlivening to be alive, Gilligan.”
“You know, Johnson, I’ve grown quite fond of you over these past two weeks in Hell. You’ve danced with the inflatable, committed violent crimes, graciously surrendered your suit to my digestive tract, and then watched me strain and yank that very suit from my bloody asshole.”
“I suppose I have, Gilligan. I’d like to think of us as partners; quick-thinking, detective types. Struggling immensely through the hard times, and, as of now, enjoying the fresh and colorful breaths of a life on the run.”
“Indeed, Johnson, a positively liberating lifestyle. That was very well put; have you considered writing the next great American novel?”
“I fancy a working class tale myself, Gilligan. One which speaks to the fiercest plights of our downtrodden peoples; the chilling battle cry of a hundred million in unison, calling upon Marx’s inevitable ascent and ushering in the calm and slumbering twilight of man’s existence.”
“Yes; yes! That which shall tickle furiously at the very pudenda of the working man’s discontented soul!”
“A tale of sound and fury, Gilligan, though told by an idiot it shall not be! I envision the vanguard of a new and permanent order, under which our people shall at last flourish in material and intellectual prosperity.”
“I have always desired the stately mustache of an absolute ruler, Johnson.”
Perhaps I shall entitle it: Gilligan and Johnson’s ‘Two Weeks in Hell.’”
“Try this on for size: Johnson and Gilligan’s ‘Two Weeks in Hell.’” The flattering sentiment hangs in the air, accompanied by a coastline peace and the low whirring of a well-functioning motor vehicle. Before us, the sunset twists into deep blues and reds, the palette of God’s own improvised brush for the enjoyment of a few appreciative mortals. The highway breeze spindles delicately about my bonneted hair; I feel like Elizabeth Taylor from the movies. No - Thelma and Louise. No - Bonnie and Clyde. Outlaws on the run, mired in chaos; forced by our respective low upbringings to commit violent crimes, and finding in the process that we love the thrill of it all. And what better place
“What better place,” I look over at Gilligan, “than sunny Miami, Florida.”
“I tell you, Johnson, I am not set at ease by this whole Avalanche Holding Company thing. It feels like a classic ploy from the movies.”
“How do you mean?”
“Well, what the hell would an avalanche be doing all the way out here in the sun and bayou?”
* * *
Feeling several miles beyond the civilisation of the metropolis, Gilligan and I look about the shipping yard with squinted eyes. Silent apprehension creeps toward and festers under our fingernails. It is thick with flour. It pervades like bacterial mud-soup. It leeches at the sides of our matching leather platforms; unties our premium polyester shoelaces; discolors the bottoms of our four-hundred dollar green-striped zoot suits.
“Tragedy strikes,” says Gilligan, “in the muddiest of crevices.”
“Vanity is not a luxury afforded to the working class,” I reply.
“Even Tony Montana had to dirty his shoes every once in a while.”
“Montana, you say?”
“What about it?”
“Don’t they have avalanches in Montana?”
“My God, Johnson! Where is our MILLION DOLLAR INFLATABLE BOAT????” In pure shock and revulsion, I turn to see a strange man charge Gilligan with a crowbar and strike him twice across the skull!
“The zoot man is dead!” he exclaims in an Eastern European accent to his charging accomplice, a table-sized pizza box with eight menacing legs extending well over a foot into the air.
“O zoot está morto!” responds the beastly creation, its pizza-box mouth flapping triumphantly.
“You fucking bastard!” I shout, pulling a four-inch dagger from my green-striped zoot suit and promptly jabbing it several times into the side of the wicked Bulgarian swine. He falls to his side wheezing, splattering mud across my green-striped zoot suit; he convulses erratically in the desperate fashion of an inflatable tube man.
“It is the tube man!” I respond horrifically, the full weight of this conspiracy before my disbelieving eyes.
“Ah, veja, ele é o cara do metrô, mas eu sou o Avalanche!” The arachnid pizza box rears his back toward me, and reveals the letters upon it, spelled across the cardboard in faded ink: ‘COURTESY OF THE AVALANCHE HOLDING COMPANY.’
“It cannot- no, it cannot be!” I fall back several steps as the table-board-eight-legged-freak inches toward me, cackling heinously, deafeningly, each leg stabbing inexorably into my predestined fate. I hold to my dagger in trembling fear; the beast’s shrills grow nearer.
“A avalanche atinge o pior ao amanhecer!” With a single crow-barred blow, the revived Gilligan collapses the monster in the stew-thickened mud. The beasts transmutes immediately into a vile, Portuguese conquistador, whose twirling facial hair and fragile, South European frame are caked in the bayou earth.
“O sofrimento; O sofrimento,” he whispers despairingly. Stimulated by the violent crime and the near death of my closest companion, I throw myself onto the useless conquistador and jab my dagger into his belly repeatedly. Entrails spill out onto the tip, which I promptly wipe across his teary, dirt-plastered cheek.
The imperialist cunt cries aloud, pleading for mercy, claiming his innocence in the vain last breaths of the desperate and pathetic; in his infantile hysterics, I derive a cold and unfeeling pride, that of the unchallenged victor, forgetting the presence of my faithful companion for the briefest moment. With a swift one-two, I pull his blood-suffocated tongue from his throat and cut horizontally, leaving a long gash which flows exceptionally across quivering lips. Pulling the tongue apart, I peer in as one might at a piece of seared pork, to make sure it is of an acceptable internal temperature.
“O, ye sweet red-milk of the soon deceased, ye tender flesh of the befallen conquistador!”
“Johnson.”
“O, ye convulsing body of the sick Portuguese whore! O, ye bloody triumph and arousal!”
“Johnson!”
“My Lord, Gilligan; when did you arrive?”
“Johnson, we must make it to the sea; the great pangs of our journey lie ahead yet.”
“A volcano with razors?”
“Indeed, my dearest friend. Now, that MILLION DOLLAR INFLATABLE BOAT has got to be around here somewhere.”
“Could it be near the sea?”
“Genius, Johnson! Simply stupendous, on the ball, on top of one’s feet, thinking on the balls of your feet, Johnson!”
“It is Friday now.”
“That it is, Johnson, and the shallow Everglades are nearly behind us. Phone for you, Johnson.”
“Hello?”
“This is your mother; when will you be coming back home to Nebraska?”
“Whenever; I have new a new friend now.”
“The meatloaf is almost cold,” she responds in a heaving sigh.
“I’ve committed serious violent crimes, Mother.”
“You’ve what?”
“And I’ll commit them against you if you’re not careful, you crustaceous, obscene, darling bovine cunt.” I drop the phone in the water, and a stillness permeates the air. Gilligan continues chewing on the sopping ends of a thin slice of seersucker cotton, stabbed through on the end by a wooden prod.
“Easier for bayou dipping,” Gilligan explains, to which I nod agreeably.
“Say, Gilligan?”
“What’s the word, Johnson.”
“I’ve been thinking. We haven’t quite confronted the nature of our violent crimes, have we?”
“Death toll of three, Johnson. Such is the life of crime-detectives on the run; we who’ve lived an extensive two weeks through the fiery plight of Hell, endured hardship and near starvation in the depths of a noir-influenced catatonia.”
“Well… what will I tell my kids?”
“Have you any children, Johnson? This is pertinent information, you should’ve warned me sooner. Kids carry diseases, Johnson. Swampy diseases. Dysentery, chlamydia, influenza, schizophrenia, the like. Have you dysentery?”
“No; nothing of the sort.”
“Then get to the point, you sentimental bastard.”
“Well, provided I do. How do I look them in the eye and tell them I murdered a table-sized, pizza-box, Portuguese, arachnid conquistador in cold blood? That I truly enjoyed slicing open his tongue like a pan-seared pork fillet?” Gilligan mulls over the question pensively for several moments, seeming quite perplexed by the potential moral quandary of our actions. Looking ahead toward our destination, he responds:
“That is something you’ve got to confront, my dearest amigo. In the meantime, we’ve a volcano with razors on our mind.” Gilligan, finishing his piece of seersucker, looks about himself, and has tragically run dry of the digestible fabric. He clutches impatiently at his stick, slaps it against the side of his boat to the tune of Smoke on the Water. Smoke rises from the water; something sinister stirs beneath the surface. “Say, could I get a slice of your shirt, Johnson?”
“Why, you’ve ate it all alread-”
“Johnson, look - a beastly gator; a dirty swamp-toothed reptilian of the sea! Perhaps I shall poke it with this handy stick!”
“Gilligan, no!”

Song: “Everything to Everyone” by Bahamas
In <100 Words: To give every part of yourself to other people is draining. To give parts of yourself that don’t exist to other people is impossible. Mr. Alfie, Bahamas, touches on this subject in “Everything to Everyone,” and possibly how we can overcompensate in showing people that we care about by trying to please them. It’s infectiously groovy, particularly in the chorus, and the vocal line is so catchy. This will probably stay as one of my favorite choruses of the year!
Fave Lyric: “Take a bottle down from the shelf, and raise a toast to my own health.”
I Also Recommend: “Opening Act” is crazily self-aware, self-doubting, and nonchalant, all over a super catchy “shooby dooby” scat and bass line. The unexpected “Bad Boys Need Love Too” calls for a bit of support on the chorus as Alfie… raps – I’d say – about deadbeat dads & climate-change doubters. Other greats include “No Wrong,” “No Expectations,” and “Way With Words.”
The Album Overall: Earthtones is an incredible record. I serious can’t believe I didn’t start listening to this guy until now. You will find a lot of incredible folk funk throughout this record and it will make sense that he worked with some players in D’Angelo’s band once you give this record a spin.
What This Sound Like: Livin’ out in the country, but not forgetting to bring along your trusty guitar and a few good friends.
Song: “Human” by Kimbra
In <100 Words: I was going to not do this because I wanted to wait for the album to review a Kimbra track, but “Human” is way too good. You can really feel the influence of Robin Hannibal from the piano lines in the chorus and trumpet (?) in the outro, but it slides in so well with Kimbra’s beautiful synth sounds. The lyrics fit perfectly with the grounded “Top of the World” & “Everybody Knows,” touching on the subject of needing people & platonic love to not just survive, but also thrive, as a human being.
Fave Lyric: “Got a heart that’s primal – cause yeah, I need your love for my survival.”
The Video: I’ve got some new dance moves from this one! A very nice & well-filmed doppelganger video as Kimbra croons to her robotic self about being human.
What This Sound Like: Deep talks in the car as you’re parked in the parking structure (the video influenced this one)
Song: “Don’t Give Up on My Love” by Caitlyn Smith
In <100 Words: I’m floored by the emotion in this song. It starts off minimally until Caitlyn’s voice trusts the listener into the depths of her heart, as the band starts getting louder. Then, suddenly you hear the “Pleeeeaaaase” and, wow, it can be quite tough to keep those tears in. Particularly, the “Don’t give up on my love, please!” part is so well-written melodically that I sometimes stop the song to & go back to that section. Her band does their fair share by drumming & playing along, but not to the point of drowning out anything Caitlyn has to say.
Fave Lyric: “Your love is a fire and I need the burn.”
I Also Recommend: Scathing “This Town is Killing Me” is brave & beautiful. “Tacoma” is a slice of blue-eyed soul that you have to love. “Contact High” is my favorite upbeat track, without being too energetic or over-the-top. Both “Scenes from a Corner Booth at Closing Time on a Tuesday” and “Cheap Date” write fun stories.
The Album Overall: I recommend this one – definitely. Caitlyn definitely keeps Starfire varied enough to keep your attention, but also consistent enough to derail the album.
What This Sound Like: A love story centralized in Nashville. I have not been to Nashville before.
Song: “Ignore Me” by Betty Who
In <100 Words: Betty continues the modern pop influences on new single “Ignore Me,” which comes as a self-released track. This is quite a sad track, about being at the end of your ropes in a relationship (seemingly a professional relationship, but could potentially be a romantic relationship or friendship). I appreciate that Betty didn’t release some epic banger quite yet, as this subdued sound really makes you appreciate what she’s singing about. I think this is a taste of what’s yet to come from re-indie-fied Betty, and it’s exciting.
Fave Lyric: “Since you don’t need me anymore, you can ignore me.”
What This Sound Like: Turning of your cell phone and going out to enjoy the nice weather on a spring afternoon.
Song: “gold” by Eden
In <100 Words: Starting out with a little fourth wall breaking with Eden’s uncertainty, “gold” quickly introduces a pretty guitar riff and Eden starts singing along about moving on. That may make it seem like Eden is moving on from a relationship, but it’s actually more than that. His writing apparently used to revolve around old relationships, and “gold” is his breaking free of that. Lastly, I wanted to note how I really enjoy the synth line at the end of the chorus; it makes the song a little more exciting. Overall, this song is great.
Fave Lyric: “And you can call it what you want, but I call it moving on and I’m so done with singing words I don’t believe in no more.”
I Also Recommend: “take care” is very pretty & the strings sounds great with his voice. My favorite double song was “start//end” – great lyrics here. The progression of “love; not wrong (brave) is awesome, especially the climax pretty much right at the 2-minute mark.
The Album Overall: I admit that this is quite a nice album, but I feel that he has a little ways to go before making something great. It feels a bit like a cop-out to say that his voice sounds like Khalid’s, but that is the immediate thought when you hear Eden sing.
What This Sound Like: Being broken up with by your video game girlfriend.
Song: “Further Than The Planes Fly” by Eves Karydas
In <100 Words: Lyrically, this song feels like a “alright shut up and just send me into your love,” using the metaphor of an airplane/rocket. I honestly feel like I don’t have much more to say about the song except that I really like it! “Further Than The Planes Fly” is super well-produced – probably best in the final chorus as the song draws to a close.
Fave Lyric: “Put me in a rocket and send me into the sky – further than the planes fly.”
What This Sound Like: The second your airplane lifts off the ground and you feel both slight fear & relief of finally being in the air (or is that just me that gets a bit of fear?).
Song: “Colors” by St. Beauty
In <100 Words: The steels drums on this one give it a great tropical vibe. The whole song feels pretty carefree, about wanting to just dance & not fight, darkness being defeated by light, that sort of thing. “Colors” feels slightly Janelle Monáe influenced – specifically with the empowering spoken-word outro.
Fave Lyric: “We gotta stick together, show them what you can do.”
I Also Recommend: The “let’s forget our issues for now” track “Not Discuss It” was the first song that drew me in to this record. I also like the modern trap feel of “Caught” (makes me think of Beyoncé’s self-titled), and “Borders.”
The Album Overall: I’m honestly not a huge fan of all the interludes (I think the last one is my favorite actual interlude), but overall it’s a nice, easy listen.
What This Sound Like: Floating up in the clouds.
Week of January 19, 2018 Song: "Everything to Everyone" by Bahamas In <100 Words: To give every part of yourself to other people is draining.

BB: evolve or disappear
Venus represents your values, including your relationship with finances and material possessions. This planet is all about pleasure, so Venus just sits back and relaxes while it gets exactly what it wants I’s about deisres, and how my desire switches constantly, sometimes they’re healthy desires, and at times they’re destructable. she sings in cursive, i feel expensive listening to her music. Great music video. Feels like it was made in a decade that never happened. BB: evolve or disappear Verse 1: I don´t want to forget But it happens over me There’s so much I gotta do But I can’t do, ‘cause I’m trapped by fear And I know it’s time, for another song of mine But everytime I feel dead inside Just a mile from here In a denial, of all I desire What are you doing in the living room? Verse 2: (uh-) The more you want The longer I’ll have to go Now are you waiting on the other side of the road? Verse 2: (uh-) The more you want The longer I’ll have to go It goes Now are you waiting on the other side of the road? Verse 3: Oh, your love it is - it is, yes it is Challenge yourself Challenge yourself eeey Use your time to grow chicke chicke down low Verse 2: (uh-) The more you want The longer I’ll have to go Now are you waiting on the other side of the road? Verse 3: Verse 1: What are you doing I’ve lost you, scared you off by the pain I sometimes feel you’re taking over No surprise, in my eyes Got my price, getting wise Not gonna whine, gota wineglas Impress What you expect Fear > Surviving Fear blocks my way I scream, ‘cause I’m getting dull. Thoughts are left in memory. old Do you think, I’ll be okay? If you want to be my heaven and hell Lose my dreams, to someone better
The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. My mind is no longer sharp Nothing’s gonna burn my flame Fire in my soul Flowing smoothly day by day. The medicine that makes me sick. Whatever you do is okay, as long as I endure it. If wanting you is my sin, If I go crazy, is it okay if you´re the reason why. I cant open my eyes because the darkness swallows me up, Even if i´m branded with an inerasable mark. Can I breathe with just that one love Burned in the back of your mind
Verse 1: It will be. What am I doing in the livin’ room Fear on my face Could it be? Could I enjoy Despite who I am and all I’ve fucked up I rather be Where you want see me What am I doing in the livin’ room What are we doing in the livin’ room Verse 2: The more you want The longer I’ll have to go Meet me in the afterglow Now are you waiting on the other side of the road Shadows in bloom What am I doing in the livin’ room In denyial of what I desire Evolve or disappear No more, nowhere Hey, it’s all me, in my head I’m the one who burned us down But it’s not what I meant Sorry that I hurt you I thought you would be here Meet you, on the other side of the road IT’s on your face But bb, i’ll see you on the other side of the road Now are you waiting on the other side of the road Verse 2: The more you want The longer I’ll have to go Now are you happy on the other side of the road? Verse 1: Could it be Could I enjoy Despite who I am and all I’ve fucked up I rather be Where you want me Chorus: Let it go now Evolve or disappear Nothing’s gonna change my world Nothing’s gonna change my world
ell me, you love me Come back and haunt me Let’s go back, to the start Nobody said it was easy
he more you want Let’s be one Verse 1: Verse 2: (uh-) The more you want The longer I’ll have to go Now are you waiting on the other side of the road? (uh-) The more you want The longer I’ll have to go But now I’m gonna throw it all away Now are you waiting on the other side of the road? Verse 2: Evolve or disappear A brand new world Ssarts from here I’ve never seen anyone so polite Where is the finish? Dragging your words Far beyond my limits There’s a place I want to be Stop sending me on the road Verse 3: I’m gonna be. Why the fuck you never tried to be You say, but I never see I thought you wanted to be
I’ll never but there’s no one as deep in my heart as you Places to hide Grown, lone Verse 2: (uh-) The more you want The longer I’ll have to go Now are you waiting on the other side of the road? Chorus: Now do you want to talk about this About how all the years have passed When I arrive Verse 2: (uh-) The more you want The longer I’ll have to go Baby - are you waiting on our side of the road? ‘Cause I’m gonna be, Verse 2: (uh-) The more you want The longer I’ll have to go Baby, are you waiting on the other side of the road? Chorus: Now do you want to talk about this About how all the years have passed The best years of your life are over And if you don’t get that smile back on your face You’ve been through the best years of Changing yourself is the hardest thing there is (uh -) The more you want The longer I’ll have to go Now are you waiting on the other side of the road? Verse 2: The more you want The longer I’ll have to go Now are we waiting on the same side of the road? Chorus: Nothing’s gonna change my world. The more you want The longer I’ll have to go I’m gonna take a plane in the middle of the night If I could fly back in time, I had taken that fight Verse 1: All the time that you were gone What have I been doing Wasting time in the living room The more I can tell, that you’re trying To make everyone comfortable. What am I doing in the livin’ room Said Evolve or Disappear Verse 1: (Uh) The more we want The longer that I’ll have to go Telling myself I’m immune Wondering how I can become immune But I’ll figure it out on my own Most things end as I assume And sometimes I think I was better back then But was I? Soon it will destroy us both Another empty motion. I’ve forgotten all I felt And if I carried your pain I had done the same Wondering what I’m doing in the living room The more you want The longer I’ll have to go And if I carried your pain Baby, I would had done the same My choice would had been the same The more we want; The longer I will have to go Even though I know I hope you find everything you’re looking for there’s only one road My choice would had been the same And if I carried your pain My choice would had been the same I wonder what I’m doing in the living room I wonder what I’m doing in the living room Assume tomb I wonder what I’m doing in the living room I could hide myself in your eyes
Wondering what I’m doing in the living room If I carried your pain, My choice would had been the same What are you doing in the living room? Remember playing in the backyard Hiding myself in garage What am I doing in the livin’ room
No one is as good as they pretend to be Lately it’s hard to tell Who’s good for me The more you want The longer I’ll have to go This is something This is something Verse 1: I’ve no motivation to eat. Evolve or disappear I’ve already been here before
