restarted the zolu fic after i started changing too many things. now it's zoro's pov and im back at 500 words with a better outline of what i want to write. i'll probably repurpose the old one into a luffy pov version since there were some things i really liked in it that i want to include, though it may end up being shorter than the zoro pov one.

yes LMAO, i don’t advertise it bc ik commissions in the fanfic writing space are kinda iffy, but ive had some (literally just 2 from the same lovely person😭🫶🏻) dm inquiries abt them! the time was also not a joke lol, it does take me almost 2 weeks to write a ~25k fic but that is me factoring in the time from the requester sharing their concept and giving me a day or so to create an outline, then she gives me the green light, then i do a first draft, share some excerpts, get her feelings on it, etc.! it’s a very personal process and she enjoys the fics i created, and that’s really the best part of the exchange for me <3 i write to see how my readers are feeling
#she is very sweet i thank her all the time for supporting me#my base rate for 20k is $35#and an extra $ for keeping the fic private/her eyes only#and she’ll always try to tip me and i (jokingly) tell her that that pisses me off like girl u just paid me to write!!! that’s the dream#this is my true side hustle#im kind of a slow writer but it’s bc i want to get every aspect perfect for my requester

honestly cruel that i have to spend my whole day reading papers and textbooks when i have approximately 53 fic ideas that i could be working on
#i keep getting more ideas and just. jotting them down#but god knows I can only work on one fic at a time or none of them wojld get finished#still. i have to spend 8 hours doing things I can only concentrate on for like. 3 hours#pain.#also the fact that im making a concerted effort to make friends and be social#so I can’t very well turn down an invitation to spend the evening at a bar or a weekend in nola#good for the mental health! but I still wish I was writing more#and I’m such a slow writer too 😭😭#anyway this vent post brought to you by the fact that I’m bored out of my goddamn mind#sef speaks

that was kinda underwhelming ngl. I really expected that either Dean would show up, or we’d meet the “Queen” (it feels so weird to not call her The Empress/The Condesce/Meenah). Neither of those things happened.... yknow I keep saying that if the writers were confident enough in their ability to convey themes that they didn’t spend 15 minutes of every episode looking directly into the camera to talk about generational trauma (...and then illustrate it just fine immediately after, might I add. they don’t need to explain it all. the themes come across just fine) we would have a LOT more time for actual plot and the story wouldn’t fucking crawl like this.
#spnwin spoilers#keep the themes for all i care just have some confidence that we can actually UNDERSTAND a theme and dont need to be told on repeat every ep#you're either making a good show or an add for therapy make up your mind#seriously what the fuck is going on in the writers' room I am still genuinely baffled at this#I've literally never seen a show with a target audience age above 8 that diverts this much of its time and energy#to explaining the already-perfectly-clear themes directly to the viewer#except steven universe and that one WAS blatantly about therapy first and monsters second#seriously i cant be the only one feeling like this show is moving at an unbearably slow speed right?#literally half of every episode is the exact same paragraph about therapy repeated directly to the camera#im not even mad abt the heavy therapy themeing here im mad because the WRITING SUCKS and the SHOW SUFFERS FOR IT

#ohh you talk about a cringe show? the writers strike of 2007 to 2008 fucked heroes HARD#season 1 is a good and engaging television. seasons 2 to 4 are a trainwreck in slow motion#and honestly the only reason people kept watching was because of sylar. and the show was paaainfully aware of that#an exercise in beating a horse to death#and i watched. i watched those terrible seasons. because zachary quinto causes pussy derangement#and im not ashamed. have you fucking seen that man#anyways. season 1 is good#at least as far as i remember. the actors are great. and the editing/score is very good#iits very like. gripping#i think season 1 of heroes was the Peak of that genre of television that happened when LOST was popular#that genre being We Wanna Be LOST So Baaaaad#i saw heroes before lost btw#but looking back and having rewatched heroes since. it's so got that lost copycat vibe#in a good way! during season one!#large ensemble cast of fucked up people#and theres mysteries and intrigue and everybody is connected. it's great#also heroes does something i consider fucking inspired: when they change the scene to somebody else#theres text at the bottom telling the audience which character(s) we're focusing on (and their location)#its their version of an establishing shot and i really like it. it's simple but effective. and helps one keep track of everybody#heroes turned out bad but to anybody who has seen it: when you start the show and you hear that weird wail singing#mohinder's narration all like ''where do we come from?'' over shots of several of our characters#don't tell me you don't feel chills
