roommate sent me a screenshot of a comment accusing a fic writer of using AI to write their fic because of their use of em dashes

i am taking every person rightly critical of genAI and shaking you. em dashes are an actual punctuation. they are useful—especially in creative writing. please learn what they are and the correct way to utilize them before you start throwin accusations at writers around. genAI needs to be ended for a variety of ethical reasons from its use of slave labor to the environmental racism, but you cannot correctly hold people accountable if you don’t even know how to recognize correct punctuation. the same way you can’t just accuse any artist of using genAI, you can’t do that to writers. false accusations are devastating AND discredit your argument

if you expect people to listen to you, then you need to be right in your observations. you have to hold yourself to a higher standard because genAI is being pushed by an oppressive system with a lot more resource. it is being heavily normalized at every turn. if you don’t know how to recognize it you cannot correctly push back against it and you can fall for it.

also you’ll piss a lotta ppl off and you’ll see a lot less ppl sharing their fanfic out of fear of these accusations

if you dont want something to show up in the tags put * in place of a couple letters… otherwise your unnecessary and very objective negative opinion ends up in a perfectly innocuous ship’s tag and no one wants to see that who is actually in that tag

seein a handful of ppl reccing my fics recently and even ppl looking for them and i feel bad i haven’t updated anything in months… fandom just has not made me happy for a long time but i do still love writing gaalee so i will get back to my fics i just… need to find the motivation

Imagine that Gaara works in a bookstore, and Lee noticed him and fell in love, began to come to the bookstore to see him constantly as a consultant, and at first he infuriated Gaara, and then Gaara somehow began to listen to his thoughts, gradually they became closer, and then Lee invited him to a cafe 🥺
