decided to get back to my roots for a bit and tackle redesigns of my all-time favourite mlp G3 dream team : 3 these five have shaped my early 2010s and helped me to grow both as an artist and storyteller (i started writing silly little fanfics and my own take on the then-hypothetical G5 based on G3 and these five characters in particular), so they have, and always will have my entire heart.

i came up my own kind of au version of G3 and here are some of my small headcanons for each character!!

Rainbow Dash:

her parents are Parasol (G1 pony) and Barnacle (G1).

she is the oldest (and the tallest!) of the five.

she is a major fashionista and diva, but with a hint of adventurousness and even ferocity behind those eyes. Dash is a fan of all things beautiful, be it bright colours, grand celebrations, and more down-to-earth values.

naturally, her craft is related to rainbows - she draws them with the special paint she makes herself, and it's a very rare knowledge among the Ponyville citizens (Unicornia's rainbow-creating magic works on the same basis as Dash's paint, she just makes it without the unicornian magic involved).

oftentimes she is the voice of reason for her friends.

in her free time she designs clothing in collaboration with Sew-and-So and funds/runs fashion shows.

isn't the biggest fan of sweets (thinks it spoils her figure and coat).

absolutely adores rainy weather (cause rainbows).

is a sap for romance and cheep romantic novels.

Spike:

was born in a dragon tribe living far from pony societies.

was born wingless and with water-based powers, while most dragons breathed fire and had wings, so he's an oddball amongst the common dragons.

the dragons were supposed to work with pony royalty/leaders and protect them. The way the dragons chose did it was passing a test of obtaining a very rare flower only meant to be gifted to the royalty - the Royal Everbloom, a flower which was near impossible to maintain/grow but could bloom for forever.

Spike failed to pass his test of safely delivering the Royal Everbloom back to the tribe, failing to protect the flower from a bad storm so it withered under hard rain. However, Wysteria noticed Spike struggling to keep the flower safe just outside her cottage and brought them both inside - nursing the poor dragon and the flower back to health. It suddenly bloomed under her care, so by the old tradition, it meant that Wysteria belonged to royalty.

cue the events of Princess Promenade pretty much the same as they went down in the original as Spike played the role of mentor and royal advisor to Wysteria. She still rejected the title in the end, proclaiming that Ponyville didn't need royalty to govern over them and that she was no more special than any other.

Spike is humbled (and charmed) by her worldview and decides that he rather enjoys the simple life of local ponies - besides, he has grown deeply devoted to Wysteria and doesn't want their friendship to end, so he parts with his tribe and lives with the purple gardener in her little cottage.

he greatly helps Wystie with gardening - his water-breathing powers come in handy while working with plants! He finds that even if he doesn't breathe fire like "normal" dragons, he still can make his abilities work in other fields.

he is often the brains of the group - his exotic dragonic upbringing is a great contrast to the ponies' more down-to-earth worldviews.

is a vegetarian (idk if all dragons in this universe are or it's just him, but-).

is a big fan of literature of all kinds, especially poetry.

generally is a huge nerd and is prone to rambling about his favourite subjects. Not the most outgoing person, more of an introvert, especially in contrast to most ponies (that's why they match their energies with Wysteria so well).

absolutely adores Wysteria, they are something of platonic soulmates/life-partners. Can be very protective of her, even though he is usually non-threatening/pretty chill (he is her personal dragon guardian!)

Wysteria:

her parents are Blossom (G1) and Salty (G1).

Petal Blossom (G2) is her maternal older cousin.

Wysteria took to gardening and flower arrangement since early years from her mother. Participated in a lot of local fair gardening competitions through her fillyhood and won the majority of them (the trophies are kept at her parents’ house). 

moved out from her parents’ house once she had managed to save up enough money to purchase a small but neat cottage at the edge of the woods; it is located near Ponyville, but quite far from its centre. Pinkie, Minty and Dash like to visit their bestie and her dragon friend on weekends and each time together they plan some really fun activities. 

during spring and summer seasons, Wysteria lives off selling flowers and bouquets at Ponyville’s biggest market. Once autumn hits however, she and Spike stay at one of their three closest friends’, Pinkie, Minty or Dash’s, house until next spring - each year they stay at a different pony’s house. Wysteria and Spike help out with chores and share household duties during their stays, but even regardless of that their friends are simply happy to let the two live with them.  

Wysteria is socially anxious and quite solitary, content with keeping a limited circle of friends to spend time with. Akin to Snufkin she requires a lot of “alone” time away from others, that’s why she likes living so far from the town. However she is very dependable and very very kind, so a lot of ponies confide in her.

hates. weeds. so. much.

often feeds stray and forest animals coming to her cottage. Is fond of bunnies and birds the most.

Pinkie Pie:

her parents are Cotton Candy Snr. (G1) and Slugger (G1). Is a twin sister to Cotton Candy Jr (G3).

Pinkie runs a gift shop along with Minty, her bestie since fillyhood and a life-partner.

works as a party planner as her second job - generally just love celebrations and organising events.

she is a natural leader and is able to make even opposing groups come and work together. Sociable and easy-going, pretty chill to be around.

isn't easily scared and usually doesn't believe things she can't see with her own eyes or try out.

has a MAJOR sweet-tooth: her sister runs an ice-cream cafe, so there's that.

has a "supernatural" ability to come up with a solution to almost anything, - using Pinkie's squink (basically just squeezing her eyes tight and thinking long enough).

is drawn to photography and films.

Minty:

her parents are Minty Snr. (G1) and Steamer (G1). Ice Crystal (G1) is her maternal uncle.

everyone's favourite disaster-monger.

works in a gift shop alongside Pinkie. Generally can't function well without her supervision lol.

Clutzy and socially anxious, but in a different way than Wysteria, Minty is obsessive, hyperactive and makes up for her awkwardness with her pony-pleasing attitude. Enjoys helping others out, it makes her feel important.

can't sit still for long period of time, needs an outlet for her excessive energy.

collects SOCKS.

winter is her favourite season; it reminds her of warmth and companionship of her friends huddled close by the fireplace. Exchanging gifts and stories. Making others smile.

is surprisingly good at checkers.

is claustrophobic, hates being limited.

doesn't enjoy reading that much, but rather likes picture-book illustrations.

Not the edmar anon, hope it's ok to say this but, I really would appreciate when people write wilmon as a version of edmar or camouflaged as edmar that it would be tagged properly. I'm not policing anything or telling people not to write what they want 💜 because getting inspired by a photoshoot or a candid picture is normal and it's more about knowing how to insert wilmon into that scenario which is harder but possible.

I guess I just wished there was a tagged specifically for it? I'm actually surprised there isn't one since there's a good amount of fics with it but anyway I hope I said that in a respectful way, it's just a personal preference.

Hey, it's absolutely fine to say this and I do definitely appreciate the way you worded things, but I'm still going to lay out my personal view and some broader thoughts on this, hope that's okay.

(putting this below a tag because I don't wanna put my personal fic preferences out there just like that where they could be discouraging to others)

I don't know if you are saying this to me because you perceive my wilmon, when they're inspired by, say, a photoshoot, as being camouflaged edmar? You're if course totally allowed to feel that way, like you say, personal preference, but I just wanna say how I go about things.

Because to me, they're two very different things. And while I do occasionally take aesthetic or thematic inspiration from photos or photoshoots (just like I take aesthetic or thematic inspiration from some things I read about or hear about or see IRL that also aren't yr canon), I always set out to put wilmon when I label it wilmon. One of the things that's keeping me from writing edmar is that I don't know these men. Like, sure, I have a rough idea of their public persona and I think it's super cool for writers to pick that up and use it as a basis for their rpf, but the way I approach writing these days this just... isn't enough? Idk Omar, idk Edvin, who knows what they are moved by and what they think about. Wille and Simon (and tbh Wille more than Simon) are characters that I feel like I know and, at least in mt subjective reading of them, know enough to put into varying scanerios, even when the scenarios aren't always close to canon.

I mean sure, interpretations vary and everyone sees the characters and what they'd be capable of in different scenarios differently, so there's bound to be some differences, but I can guarantee that when I call and tag something as wilmon I do my very best to make it the wilmon I know in the way I understand them. And that's just me and my stance, but I can obviously only speak from my own standpoint.

This might be where some of the conflict comes from? I don't read nearly as much as I'd like to read, but I do certainly find myself sometimes going "yeah, this isn't selling me them in this particular scenario/with this behavior/these emotions", just because I have my version of the characters and that doesn't always align with other people's reading. Again, idk what fics in particular you are referring to here, but I know that I've definitely also seen ones that were based off edmar things and didn't, again, just to me and my personal preferences, go enough into the thoughts and feelings I'm used to reading for Wille and Simon in order for them to feel like them. But for me this isn't usually a thing that only happens when something is based on IRL happenings, it also happens with all kinds of AUs and canon-compliant stuff, just because I have my preferences and one of them is like... enough internal focalization on the character to make it clear why they are in a scenario, and if that's missing then it just doesn't quite work for me. But, tbh, that doesn't mean that it doesn't work for the author and for plenty of readers. And, I wanna make this very clear here, I really don't think one interpretation is more correct than the others! I think there's a large pool of possible interpretations that are informed by the source material and it's absolutely possible to come to different conclusions based on all kinds of factors. Like, idk, some people might say the characters would have the same base personalities when they're adults, others might say there's still so much for them to learn and discover so that they inevitably change in some (or a lot of) ways.

Like, popstar Simon for example. That's a concept I don't reeeeaaaally have any strong feelings on, but I know people are somewhat divided. And like, on one hand I can see why the Simon who happily posted his song to Instagram and got excited about the feedback could be written into a popstar, but then I also understand that for someone else the breach of privacy he experienced would keep them from comfortably imagining him as a popstar, you know? Both seems plausible to me, jaut based on different characteristics or behaviors or experiences of the characters.

And that's kind of where I'm at with the wilmonification of edmar, I think it can be done in a way that feeds off the characters and makes sense for them. And I can't say who does or doesn't do this "the right way", because I think it's a hugely subjective thing. And I know you said you don't want to police people's writing, which I do very much appreciate 💜 But even with the tag... it feels a bit like... where do you draw the line, you know? Because there are some things that the characters share with the actors who played them (namely their looks, a few select character traits that the actors built off to create the characters, the singing, etc) and I personally would find it difficult to draw a clean line. I think some people are already tagging or noting in the A/N if they base something off a photoshoot, or the duo campaign for example, but idk. Does every buzzcut Wille gets in a fic need to be tagged as inspired by Edvin, just because Wille only lived on our screens for 18 episodes and didn't have a buzzcut at any point because we only got to see a few months of his life, while we're going to see Edvin for however long his career stays a public thing and he's probably going to try out every haircut under the sun in the meantime?

I hope I'm not coming off harshly here, I definitely can see where you're coming from, but I'm just a person with their own worries and thoughts about the things I write, you know. I think part of my reaction to this is informed by the time I got a nasty anon who accused me of being fetishizing after they claimed somewhere else that I had written a wilmon fic that was essentially rpf, and I didn't like that accusation, because, at least in my mind, I had done everything to make those characters the Wille and Simon we (or at least I) know (because I don't think a haircut or outfit alone makes them... not them. I think you just need to explain how they ended up with that outfit or hairstyle). Or, idk, when I see Omar at the beach that's one thing, but when I then get an idea for wilmon at the beach, while maybe initially born out of those pictures, it still comes from a very different place cognitively and creatively for me. I'm not like "I want to write about Omar", what I actually want to do is throw Wille and Simon into a new scenario and see how they behave in it. Because wilmon never had a canon beach vacation, but I think it could be interesting and fun and hopefully entertaining to have them go through that.

So... idk. Maybe I'm not the best person to ask this, maybe there's too much baggage there or maybe I'm too unwavering in seeing my wilmon as wilmon, but I do hope that you can find fics thar work for your preferences and that the search isn't too frustrating. And maybe now that it seems like more and more people are getting comfortable writing actual edmar rpf when they mean to it's going to be less likely that very... hm... typical edmar situations are turned into wilmon fics? But idk. I think many people are very likely genuinely writing wilmon when they say it's wilmon, I know I am, but... yeah... the fact that we all see them slightly differently really makes things difficult.

Anyways, sorry if I took this entirely the wrong way and you meant it differently, no hard feelings, I know it's sometimes difficult to find exactly the version of them you have in your mind. But I do, like I said, really appreciate the way you worded this and I do think it's an interesting conversation to have, even if our opinions on it (maybe?) differ, but yeah. vinnayyyyyyy idk if anyone has asked you before but what are your post canon visions for all the surviving characters??

HIIII umm let me pull some thoughts out of my beautiful mind.

The only thing i have really ever ruminated on is the idea of Jacobi showing up at Minkowski’s house after disappearing off the face of the earth for several months and forcefully moving in on her couch. Minkowski who is in the process of trying to heal her relationship with her husband who thought she was fucking Dead and who is going through a Lot because that healing process comes with realizing just how much she has to tell him about what she Did up there and then Jacobi, one of the guys who was greatly impacted by the things Minkowski Did, shows up like hey lol. Im here to be your reoccurring sitcom side character.

i think Jacobi shows up to her place because he’s incredibly aimless without si-5 work and without Kepler to follow around like a lost dog. He absolutely guilts her into it because he Knows that she feels bad about Maxwell and i think his lost dog schtick really nails home how much hes lost and she feels responsible for his aimlessness on earth. And also in a weird way his anger towards Minkowski is also a memory of Maxwell and that all funnels together into a weird brain concoction of feelings that make him feel very Attached to Minkowski, even if he doesn’t like her.

Any other characters are a lot more vague in my mind. I have absolutely no clue what they would do with Hera and her supergiant supercomputer brain but through the power of “dont worry about it” maybe they just turn her into a home security system or something. I don’t think she’d like it but they don’t have much for other options.

I think a lot about Eiffel’s memory loss and. While i dont Like it. If i had to play in the space with it, i feel like Eiffel should regain those memories. And, playing into the fact that Doug Eiffel is a coward, i think it would be interesting if him regaining his memories on earth had to be an intentional process that he had to work through in order to gain those memories. Because then there is the possibility of him realizing more and more about who he is and having to wrestle with the idea of just taking the cowards way out and continuing to forget. Forget what happened, forget everything he did, forget why he was ever sent up to orbit wolf 359, and just move on as this new version of himself instead of having to address the person he is. Could be fun. Could be silly. I envision him and Hera wandering around his mindscape (dont ask me how they have the resources to jack her in there) and idk i think it could be interesting to play with the visuals of actively having to go find your memories in your mind.

lovelace…. Lovelace…… i want good things for her. I do not know if they would come to her easy back on earth. I feel she would be very restless. I think she would go hard into no-contact, no way to track her down, disappearing to a beach off the coast of nowhere for a while to decompress after four years of the torture labyrinth. I think that has mixed results and has the capacity to tip over into just pure isolation. After some time maybe she wraps back around to keep in touch with Eiffel to make sure he’s doing okay and then just keeping in touch with the others over time. But i think shes going to need a lot of support once she gets down there.

and this is all without really considering any Goddard related nonsense. I think a post-canon wolf 359 has the capacity to just delve into More Story Happening. I think Lovelace should plan to infiltrate Goddard futuristics to literally blow it up from the inside. That could be a fun spinoff series. But thats its own entire thought process and im just looking at this through a pov of “what if they were returning back to normal lives on earth”

Brb Book Club Reviews: The Queen's Thief by Megan Whalen Turner

Rating: 4.5 stars (AUGHHHHHHHH)

Thoughts: Literally straight up a fun time. Not for Our main character but it was for *meee*. It was a really cool plot and really cool set up and the worldbuilding (Literally the worldbuilding was excellent) was excellently done and I grew to love most of the characters (even if i hated most of them at first). Vaguely kind of like the Italian Job movie if it took place in like ancient history and there's only one person who's really competent at his job (like if you squinted).

Also gen gives very much bloodless vhas from rolling with difficulty vibes but literally no one's going to get it except me but if there was ever a modern au gen's got a bad australian accent.

Started off on the slow side but literally so worth it and not bad pacing overall really

the audiobook narrator did a really good job but literally will never hear 'yogurt' the same way.

Spoilery thoughts (There are actual spoilers, ppl be wary im sorry):

Literally exactly the kind of book I wanted at the time. I don't know where to begin to be perfectly honest.

LIterally the build up that Gen's actually from like one of The Most Important Families caught me so off-guard and yet looking back to lines in the book it makes sense (especially the nobility)

Sophos/Sofos (I literally have no clue how any of these names are spelled im so sorry i just listen to it) best boi. Literally will kill anyone who harms him. Would make a terrible leader probs but i'd follow him anyway.

literally cried real tears with the Pol death like NOOOOOOO-

Literally always knew ambiades was a scumbag but chalked it up to normal elitism an pride that is so so everywhere in academia so was still surprised when he was traitor all the way from very beginning

Literally the temple scenes gave me actual chills especially when they met the gods for the first time.

Actually all the exposition was done really well. Like We love the magus for world-dumping all of the things for us and Moreover We Love Gen being like "actually ur wrong here's why."

BUT ALSO THE DYNAMICS BETWEEN EVERYONE SCREAMING

The magus and gen gaining a respect for the other and their positions. Magus being an absolute karen /aff to help gen and get him medical help he needs. Gen absolutely risking his own life over and over to get magus and sophos alive

literally the whole "everyone's secretly actually nobility" ending made me laugh and scream so hard. It's not so out of the realm of possibility that it didn't make sense, but I want to reread with that knowledge and be like heh. heh. heh. Also sophos being the kings nephew and the Heir to sunis is so funny. Like we're going to steal a magic rock to make ur uncle get married so he can have an actual heir and u can be ignored." Like sophos had actual motive to sabatoge and yet my boi did nothing. (although sophos probably would prefer to not be king of sunis)

Literally queen of attolia asking him to be her theif instead and gen responding that he already has a mistress *squeals* its sooooo gooddd (especially after finding out the mistress is actually Edis idk why it makes me laugh sm).

Moira. Just. Moira. I love her.

And Eugenides

Someone could really do an essay about the different approaches to find truth and justice between gen, ambiedes, sophos, and magus and even pol because it's very interesting but it's 1am so not doing that rn

the worldbuilding the vibes were 10/10. Screaming. I am currently in the middle of book 2 and so scared

My 9-1-1 s8 Disaster Ideas/Wishlist

So I am going to spend the hiatus for 911 moving onto some of my brushed to the wayside hyperfixations now that the season’s over. Honestly after almost 15 years in fandom, I do not want to wade into the water of angsty ship wars and have already filtered out my tags and blocked certain blogs to ensure my peace.

However, I still will be thinking about my gay little wee woo show and I wanted to post my ideas, wishes, speculations, and predictions. Not necessarily in that order…..

Anyways! First things first, for this little post I wanted to speculate about what s8’s big disaster is going to be and my idea on how it could be done. (ABC if you’re lurking, please feel free to take the idea. You too, Tim. I give this idea away for free) What I think the s8 disaster is:

TORNADO / TWISTER

Now hear me out….as a Canadian, I have no clue if Tornadoes are common or even occur in places like LA. But with a dramatic ass show like 911 that has dealt with titanic-like cruise ship disaster, tsunami, earthquake, mudslides, wildfires, etc. it’s not out of the realm of possibility for them to completely the elemental set.

But moving onto how they would work it in…

I propose that it is used in the season premiere. (stick with me and imagine) LA is on Tornado watch and is hunkering down but the 118 get called to an emergency like they always do. (since it seems like their sector seems to be the entirety of LA, but I digress)

Unfortunately Captain Gerard is still the temp Captain while Bobby is out fighting the decision with the Chief. Obviously the crew does not gel with his leadership style which affects their ability to complete this rescue that’s in the path of the tornado.

Now this is where I get a little insane….Please stick with me on this….

This will be an Eddie centric 2 part premiere as he’s still reeling from Chris’s decision to go to Texas for the summer. (I refuse to have him leave completely) He’s kinda going stir crazy in an empty house now that his son’s not there. Instead of Buck being the normally reckless one, Eddie dives into the rescue against Gerard’s orders as the wind picks up. The tornado gets too close and the winds too strong that they can’t go after him safely and that cause the structure he’s in to collapse on him and knock him out.

Here’s the crazy part…

As he’s knocked out, we go into Eddie’s dreamscape consciousness that is just pretty much a 911 version retelling of the Wizard of Oz….

(I promise this will be a compelling arc)

…..which we will eventually learn is the movie he ended up watching the night before as had been having some cases of Insomnia now that Chris was gone.

Now you’re thinking, Elysium, that absolutely bonkers and how would they ever pull it off? Truthfully I don’t know how they would write but I can give the bare bones of what I imagine for it.

Eddie wakes up in weird not-version of LA after the Tornado passes to find a firetruck crushing the ‘Wicked Witch of the West’ Gerard.

He’ll take the Saint Christopher medal from the body (why? I don’t know… it’s his weird dream sequence about coming to terms with his grief)

No memories/vague recollection of what he’s doing. All he knows is that he has to get back home to his soul. His family.

Eventually he is found by ‘Glinda the Good Witch’ Evan ‘’Buck’ Buckley, who gives him a goal to work towards and solid advice to find the great wizard (Bobby) who should be able to grant his wish.

Obviously he will be joined by Hen & Chim as companions, each searching for their own thing. (not to be one-to-one with the Tin Man & Lion, but Hen’s thing would be about courage to fight the councilwoman and get Mara back. Chim looking for the heart could be maybe thinking about having more kids once Mara is back with Henren. You stuff like like that, idk)

Dealing with the Witch Gerard and the flying monkeys (which would be all the obstacles that the 118 face, grief about Shannon, unresolved catholic guilt, his parents taking his kid, etc)

Finally Eddie will make it to the Wizard (Bobby), the man he conflated and put on pedestal because the Good Witch Buck, who sees Bobby as his his father figure (which is a good thing don’t get me wrong), also did. Only to realize Bobby is also just a man like him, his true foil (narratively this would be made clear to the audience using flashbacks) who like him, only became grand because his pushed himself to work for it even through his grief and bad moments.

What Eddie realizes is that he was looking for his way back home to his perfect life and family, to a Chris who won’t currently be there. And that destroying himself to wait for him to come back won’t fix the issue. Glinda will also help him with this.

He realizes that the way to make amends is to do like Bobby and put the effort into that change. He going to make his home a comfortable space for Chris again, so when he does come back, he knows that things will be different. He’ll take time for himself to properly grieve Shannon (and get more therapy, god!) and take the space to delve into some self-discovery whole were at it.

Then he’ll wake up from being knocked out by his team, not including Gerard, once the Tornado is gone. Maybe they go back to the station after a checkup at the hospital and Bobby comes back saying he’s reinstated and Gerard is gone. (I’m not really planning for this stuff)

Now, I’m obviously missing some characters in this dream sequence but I don’t know where they would fit. And I’m avoiding some big sexuality and romantic notions in regards to Eddie.

Trust that I know and I want it too, but I also want to avoid the ship wars this summer. So I’ll leave it vague, even though to me the idea of Eddie being Dorothy is very explicit in what arc I want for him.

Let me know what you would cast the other 911 character as in this version of Oz. Also thank you for indulging my crazy idea. I’ll be back with more.

Well it wasn't much more than a passing thought I wrote down before i forgot it and I was gonna apologize and say I've not thought of much but character classes, but I blacked out and went into a frenzy.

So for character classes:

Hiccup: Eliatrope and Toothless is his dragon brother

Astrid: Feca or Cra (though I could maybe see her being a Iop too?)

Snotlout: Iop

Twins: Iops as well (I'd say most of Berk's population is)

I'm kind of stuck on what Fishlegs would be. huppermage? Maybe? Idk

Dagur: Sacrier

Heather: Sram

Undecided on what I'd want Viggo to be, or if I'm even going to include him but I'm open to any suggestions.

Berk is a a small coastline port village known for its fishing and inhabitants with ridiculous names and violent tendencies (most of them are Iops).

(Debating on its actual location but I can't for the life of me find a map for the World of Twelve that's actually labeled 💀)

Stoick is a Iop and chief of the village. He found Hiccup when he was an infant. He's never actually sat Hiccup down and given him the "you're adopted" talk, but they're both aware of it. This doesn't really have any strain on their relationship though (they love each other, but like in canon, are shit at actually showing it) the fights they have are over other things, mostly Hiccup's hazardous passion projects. And later, Hiccup's desire to leave Berk.

Hiccup is the village blacksmith's apprentice, but is often distracted with his own projects.

He is more focused on making inventions powered by wakfu than honing his own abilities beyond portal making (because of this, they often explode). as well as seemingly having a lack of interest in finding out about himself and what he is. Beyond the fact that deep down, he knows he is not human. He still wants to get out of Berk and dreams of exploring the World of Twelve.

Hiccup lost his left leg below the knee in an accident he indirectly caused when he was 14. Part of why he doesn't like using his powers.

(If you've watched the show, you'll know that when Yugo makes two portals and puts them in front of each other, it creates a beam of energy that essentially decimates whatever it comes into contact with. And iirc it's mostly been used on machines and such, so I don't think organic matter like bone muscle and flesh would stand a chance.)

Fishlegs is the closest thing he has to a friend. they'll eagerly talk about his inventions, until Fishlegs asks Hiccup to go more in depth on how his powers work, then Hiccup shuts him out. Usally after a few days of silent treatment things go back to normal and they act like it never happened.

Snotlout is Hiccup's cousin who used to bully him but has stopped (doing it outright anyway, ofc he's still rude and we love him for it <3) due to a begruding respect for Hiccup, not that he'll ever admit it (and perhaps out of fear, after all blowing your leg off and accidentally destroying half the village, intentional or not, is an impressive feat). The twins follow Hiccup around in hopes to see what disaster he'll cause next. They're the reason Hiccup moved his 'Workshop' out of the smithy and into a remote clearing in the forest miles away from the village proper.

Toothless is Hiccup's dragon brother and has been searching for Hiccup for years, but Hiccup is so out of tune with his wakfu their connection was almost completely severed and Toothless is unable locate him. Until recently Hiccup had no idea Toothless existed, beyond a lifelong feeling of something being very distinctly wrong and the occasional vague prodding sensation in the back of his head (Toothless trying his absolute hardest to get through to him).

I have no idea what I want to do for Astrid tbh. I want to do her justice which is why I'm so indecisive.

And I have nothing for Heather and Dagur beyond what their classes would be honestly. Something will come to me eventually though.

i just finished sweet tooth season 2 and wtf why did a decent amount of good characters die?? like overall both seasons 1 and 2 were phenomenal and i love both seasons but like why did everyone have to die. to an extent i can understand killing johnny kinda as a shock i guess and to show Abbott's absolute cruelty,greed and indifference but it still hurt and aimee i sadly understand why they killed her i guess also as shock since she just her kids back but i suppose also to show that the sick could get anyone idk but it just felt devastating since number 1 the hybrids just got her back and 2. haven't both the hybrids and aimee herself suffered enough!? anyhow the animal army had SO MUCH potential to be something more since the whole concept of them was so intriguing and the writers never used their potential but instead killed them all which just felt like a huge cop out to both their concept and their characters but i guess there was just too many characters and concepts to fit in this series. now onto tiger like why did they introduce her again to just kill her in the last episode like it makes zero sense to introduce a character and then just kill them especially when tiger and bear were on the road to reconnecting and being a duo again. and don't get me started on her death which makes no sense like at all?? (i'm making a separate post on tiger death so i'm not going to continue it here).

anyhow i'm going to give my opinions on characters just because i physically can't shut up about this show

Gus - Gus is my sweet baby boy who desperately needs a hug after what he's been through like it felt like he could never catch a break and he definitely deserves one i do admire his optimism though

Jepp - he was always born to be a father like as soon as i saw him with Gus i was like this guy just became a father without even realizing it. his backstory is devastating like this guy was put through so much just to find out that the thing he was looking for was already gone. he acts tough and he is but he really is a sweet guy with a heart of gold and i'm glad i got to see his progression from being cold to being a lil bit of a softie who protects the people he cares about. i did quite enjoy his bickering with bear though it was quite funny

Aimee and Birdie - I unfortunately don't have a lot to say about them but I do think that they were interesting characters !! Aimee with both protecting,caring and loving these hybrids like they were they were her own probably knowing that they probably needed that in a world that was so cruel to them. Birdie instead of keeping Gus with her and constantly having to run she made the very smart and probably very hard decision in letting Gus go with Richard in order to live a fairly normal life where he could actually be a child which i appreciated since she knew that with her Gus wouldn't get the life that he deserved which in my eyes was her version of protecting him

Johnny - Johnny is again my sweet baby boy who deserves every good thing in his life like i never expected to love him as much as i did but that face was so freaking lovable. he tried his best in his life and i love that for him was devastated when he died a very cruel death by his asshole of a brother

Abbott - He deserves nothing good in his life instead he deserves every bad thing to come into his life like dude come on you're a terrible person who tortured and killed literal children without mercy just so you could live what a few more years

Wendy and other hybrids - Again I don't have a lot to say about Wendy either but i do love her relationship with the other hybrids it was actually really sweet and i'm excited to see where her characters goes next especially her and bear's relationship as siblings! the hybrids were so cute tho i loved how each got their own very different personalities

Adi and Rani - I see a lot of people hating them and I can understand a lil bit of that but I don't think I can ever fully hate them. I think both of them especially Adi are very complex characters but do I hate that Adi literally killed children to find a cure that wasn't even there 100% like dude you think cutting these poor kids up is going to help and I hate him for that. I do think his slow descent into madness is quite interesting though like going from a doctor,to a doctor during the sick,to just a dude who has a sick wife,back into a doctor who now knows that the person before him was cutting up hybrids for a cure that his sick wife was taking,to now a doctor and a scientist who is now pressured to find a cure,to a scientist who has gone into madness trying to find a cure even though his wife wants to leave and actually live a life before she dies like i'm paraphrasing but it is so interesting. Rani is a cool character tho and i think at first living with the sick she wanted to live but i think over time especially after seeing what was being done to hybrids in order to supply her medicine for her life she just got tired of living and seeing these poor kids die just for her to live and she just wanted a life with her husband to just live before she was gone to just see and experience things with Adi before the sick took her life

The animal army - I'll just say this once THEY HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL and it was wasted by killing them off like they could have been this cool concept on how these kids who were around during the sick survived and became this army and it was thrown away

Tiger - Tiger was a amazing character who definitely gave me lesbian panic and had such a interesting relationship with bear with them being both best friends who knew each other for such a long time and also co leaders who had such differing point of views and were definitely in some sort of situationship. again death was devastating and was just getting good since her and bear were finally getting back to being friendly with each other. alright and now i'm going to talk about that whole sister line that i see some people talking about and when i watched that scene i didn't exactly interpret it as you already have a sister like relationship with me but kinda interpreted it as stop overthinking this sister thing you have me on your side being there to help and you already know how to be a great sister but i could be wrong

Jordan - I don't hate Jordan i am not a huge fan i found him lowkey kinda irritating and annoying but i do think he's a good example of how easily people can be manipulated into believing what the big guys (the last men) are spewing. also i think he definitely started having a thing for bear before finding out she was animal army

Becky/Bear - Becky is such a interesting character who again gave me lesbian panic but i digress like she was child who started an entire army just to find her sister like how freaking amazing is that !! also the fact that she is a child soldier who knows how to kill people and talks to adults about killing people is actually quite sad like she deserved to be a child and actually have a childhood but instead she had to grow up way too fast. and the fact she lost her family twice (her adopted family to the sick and her animal army family) is so sad like this girl cannot catch a break for the life of her. the trio of bear,Jepp,and Gus was actually really sweet tho like between Becky and Jepp's bickering and Gus trying to stop them fighting to jepp and bear being protective of Gus and them all fitting together like a weird ass puzzle is just perfect. Her relationship with Wendy i'm excited to see it continue and how it flourishes !! also i think after hearing that the animal army killed Jordan's dad she felt real guilty about that but she couldn't exactly tell him that she was apart of that so she was probably in her freaking out but you know she had to up a a apart that she was not in the animal army and she actually wanted to join the last men. also i think bear found Jordan more as friend since she lost all of hers before and she just tolerated his presence since he was her ticket to find answers but i can understand Jordan x bear shippers if they're people out there who do i just personally don't ship them but i will happily respect people who do! however i am a tiger x bear shipper cause like they were giving each major heart eyes and just seemed to be in love with each other but that's just my opinion

i want to preface this by saying that baekhyun is essentially the only member whose voice i can CONSISTENTLY identify at this point in my exo-l journey, so i won't be able to get quite as specific as i would normally like :(

10. lovin' you mo': the way they stylized this title was kind of stupid, i'm sorry. just say loving you more, it's a wasted effort to try to match the title to the tone. i got an image of being tracked down by these eight men trying to convince me to pick them. i wouldn't want to be a woman listening to this song. it's rare that i really vibe with any track that's basically "pick me, choose me, love me." i literally wrote in my notes, "these men are very needy and not in a fun way."

9. lightsaber: didn't hate it, but i DID hate the darth vader breathing at the beginning. good job sticking to the theming, but my ears weren't happy and i wanted to cry. i fuck with house music quite often and i loved the rapping it just got FASTER and it tickled me, hell yeah. the other songs were just better upon first listen. i do however want to mention that they did not find that happy medium between an empty chorus and a full one. repeating the title over and over is not a good strategy.

8. electric kiss: the beat went hard as fuck, but it was cranked up to ten and largely imbalanced, at least my ears weren't fucking with it too heavily. i was bopping in my seat though. idk who it was but there was some raspy vocals in there at one point and i can't decide how i feel about it. got the vibe that they were threatening me, but i can't deny a good exo bridge.

7. cosmic railway: okay. here's the thing. as a song in its own right, in and of itself, etc., it's FINE. it's pretty good, in fact. however, it's part of a pretty bulky album. and it's the only. slow. song. the whiplash i got from going from RUN THIS to this song was very unpleasant, and then i got whiplash AGAIN when the music swelled at the chorus, so i really can't tell whether that instrumental choice served the track well or not. liked the borderline trot vibes, the vocals were serving, and obviously the bridge slapped because it's exo. does not need to be five minutes long. i will accept fault for forgetting that all jp albums have softer songs, but you cannot possibly have it be the only one on a ten song album. no sir.

6. coming over: very funky, very groovy. yes and yes on the instrumentation. my complaint comes from the beat again. for the entire chorus it felt like the track was running away from the vocalists, ESPECIALLY during the ooo's at the tail end of the chorus. didn't agree with me, and neither did the line "go shouty, get naughty." the "we're done, goodnight" was my absolute favorite thing ever though, i chuckled. makes me wish they ended the album that way.

5. into my world: loved the instrumental intro but i can't fathom why there was a random roar at the end of it, you ruined it. :( there was that weird breathy rasp again which on a techno-esque album is not a good choice imo. i wrote that the "repetition of run away gets old but not as quickly as you would think" and i stand by that. they stop before i want to hit skip though, so at least there's that. the line that comes right before the rap section of the chorus is the best part of the song, they cooked with that. i noted specifically that i would not mind at all if this got stuck in my head after listening.

4. tactix: the intro was weird because whoever it was was way up close to the mic and my brain decided that was not good for me. loved the scatting during the chorus, you could tell they were having a really good time. could not concentrate on anything else if i had to while that song was playing, but sometimes you need a break, eh? loved the synth, had a fun time with the laser-adjacent effects as well. this was the point in the listening where i realized that techno was an objective and i buckled in. good soup.

3. drop that: no surprise that the remakes made the top three. instrumental was nice as fuck, i love isolated guitar/bass action. noted that i would do the running man to this. very nct, which i obviously get down with, neo definitely got my back. the vocal layering got to chipmunk pitch at one point which was unique i guess and there was one piano riffs followed by what sounds like the intercom noises on my building's fire alarm when i get an evacuation order. good rollercoaster i think, the tail end of the bridge leading into the final chorus was absolutely everything, they cooked again.

2. run this: they made REALLY good use of the empty chorus, i loved it. i also loved the back-and-forth between vocals and rap in the second verse. it transitioned back into the pre chorus very very well. bridge action very good as well. the only thing i didn't love was the infrequent video game noise in one ear, but if i listened to it without earbuds it would probably be fine.

1. love me right - romantic universe: exo has some of the best title tracks in the industry. the guitar reminds me of that which is present in life is a highway, likely due to the presence of a whammy bar if it was live and a specific setting on the loop if it was engineered, which is more likely. gotta love that type of timbre. i liked the brass and the distortions that followed that segment, very much good. the "yeahs" get annoying after a bit, but that's my only real complaint. also the "love. me. aaaaahhhh" before the last chorus was very tasteful? is that the word? idk. also, apparently it's called romantic universe in this version because they were trying to appeal to the japanese cultural idea of romantic love as being cosmic and all-consuming? fun tidbit, gotta love knowledge acquisition, amirite?

this was a true labor of love for my sick ferret mootie, who i hope will interpret this as a get well soon gift and not me attacking their favorite album. ilysm and please don't die. thank you to everyone else who read this as well, album reviews are so much fun to do.

Assorted headcanons for the MAMIYA DDD Family ending [spoilers abound!!]

Here's a compilation/archive of messages I posted in the MAMIYA fan Discord about a continuation of the Family ending in Keito's route. In my version, Ryou also gets taken into the family along with Osamu, Satoru, and Keito. I call them KORS for short.

This is absolutely not serious or angsty in anyway, because I was writing this as aftercare for Minato's route lmao. I've sorted through my many messages and did some reorganizing, so they're grouped by topic. (Bolded names: indicates a comment from a server member)

Keito's New Family!!

For the first two months of living together keito is terrified, but ryou being 7 gets over the whole thing in like one month. Like this is just his new normal

Keito starts getting over it (stockholm syndrome starts setting in) once he sees satoru teaching ryou how to make takoyaki

You know i think crab takoyaki could work. I dont like crab but crab meat isnt that far off from octopus

Even after Keito gets over the whole kidnapping thing, he still takes a while to acclimate to his new "family". Like satoru osamu and ryou get used to the family situation pretty quickly (because they are not close to their birth families) but keito is very close to his family so he has to grapple with the cognitive dissonance for a good while

By six months time, he's used to their living circumstances and has affection for the three of them, but in his mind theyre housemates, not family. Like when someone asks about keito's family, his mind still immediately goes to his parents

It probably takes a year or so for keito to finally think of them as his family

Maybe its possible that satoru adopts ryou and osamu into his family registry so everyone thinks theyre a gay couple with a child, but then theyd still be samejimas

(It would be better of them to be samejimas instead of arisugawas because satoru owns all the houses. Obviously)

And then keito would be. Well they can't adopt him too because keito's dad is literally satoru's boss

Samejima could fake keito's death and keep him away from his family? BUT I FEEL LIKE THEYD BE FOUND OUT PRETTY QUICKLY IF KEITO WAS LIVING WITH SATORU

Well maybe its a non-legally binding family where satoru and osamu are back to living together again, satoru has pulled strings to get ryou adopted by osamu, and then he twists keitos arm into moving in with them as roommates

(Or keito moves in of his own volition, with his main motivation being that hes SUPER CONCERNED ABOUT LEAVING RYOU IN THERE)

Would osamu and satoru still be fighting at this point. I think the years apart would have calmed them down a little

Instead of punching satoru, osamu just slaps his a-- you know what never mind. Actually i think they would just verbally argue but without much bite. Because theyre family now

Vaguely remembering that bit in arisus route where osamu was like "we were partners in crime and i was even thinking about asking her to marry me" well osamu you have a new mamiya who you have committed several crimes with so what will you do now.

[Editing note: I want it noted that my brain short-circuited when Satoru was like "I feel like a newly wed bride". why did he say that]

General KORS Family Fluff

Osamu is the one who picks ryou up from school most of the time because he works from home but the first time keito does it ryou is just so happy. Ryou thinks keito is the coolest

Satoru is the one who teaches ryou how to cook so when hes older ryou ends up with really weird culinary skills. He does not know how to fry an egg sunny side up but he can whip up hollandaise sauce like its nothing

Satoru starts ryou in some kind of martial arts class and osamu hates it because ryou keeps trying to show osamu his skills (ie punching him in the leg)

Keito is still playing in a college lacrosse club and the whole family comes to watch his games. When ryou cant see over the crowd (i dont know what lacrosse games look like sowwy) satoru puts him on his shoulders

Osamu and keito take turns reading ryou his bedtime stories. Sometimes when they both have time they both read to him. Osamu is really good at the evil monster voices and robot voices, and keito is better than him at doing female voices

Despite being shorter than keito, satoru cannot fit into his jackets and coats because his shoulders are just to broad. He can fit into some of osamus longer coats because osamu likes buying clothes a size or two too big. Few of their clothes are viable hand me downs for ryou because he grows up short

Wait. But maybe ryou would grow up to be taller in this scenario because keito makes sure he drinks his milk. So maybe he would fit in their clothes

Satoru's Parental Tendencies (& other adults in Ryou's life)

(Growing realization) i think after keito and ryou move out for work/college, satoru would have the worst empty nest syndrome imaginable

(Assuming osamu satoru or keito doesn't set their house on fire with everyone inside in five years time)

Satoru ends up like a clingy overbearing mother who gets really upset when keito wants to move out for his Vaguely Defined Future Career and only calms down once osamu is like "uhhh dude chill" and keito promises to facetime every day

(I just think this is really funny because keito has his own family who is alive and who he is on good terms with but his actual mom puts up way less of a fuss than satoru)

After that satoru starts redirecting all his attention and affection towards ryou and is just overall insufferable

Ryou: im thinking about going to kyoto for college Satoru: absolutely not you will choose a school in tokyo and you will live in this house

Satoru is the strict parent who is prone to hysterics and osamu is the laissez faire parent who has to console his wife (i am of course delusional). Its like a sitcom

Keito rounds off ryou's Trio of Adult Figures as the unconditionally supportive older brother so i think between the three of them, ryou grows up to be pretty okay??? As okay as you can be when youre a member of the Mamiya family ig

They all frequently go to dinner at the suou's too so ryou is decently close to keitos parents

New Car!!

Anyway. If they all moved in together, satoru would have to buy a new car

Now i think a honda accord would be a good car for a family of four, but it might be a bit cramped if two of them are over 6ft tall, so it might be better if they had an suv

And also satoru loves his foreign cars so he wouldn't buy honda anyway

Okay so the volkswagon touareg could be a good option because it is a luxury suv from germany. However pre 2006 this suv was REALLY big so i dont think it would fit very well in the streets of japan

Cheese: samejima also is really big and doenst fit well in the streets of japan

Suvs werent as big of a thing in 2003, so maybe satoru would go for a sedan anyway... If satoru's going to gravitate towards european luxury brands, then the mercedes benz s class would be perfect for him. Its about the same size as a honda accord

During my playthrough of DDD, the KORS family au helped keep me sane. I think it's a neat idea. i think if it actually happened (and Osamu and Satoru took Ryou in as well) they would've started murdering people within the year, but this isn't about that!! If I wanted insane angst, I would replay DDD Keito/Ryou.

I kind of want to write some sort of fic about this weird family... But after playing EX, my brain has contacted the natsumiya virus and I haven't been able to stop thinking about that. So we'll see lol. I might archive some of my AU twitter threads for that ship onto tumblr, too, because I'm pretty fond of what I wrote.

Isaac Lahey

Age: I feel like his age range would be smaller than the others. If i was giving a specific age range id say anywhere between 2 - 5.

Baby: Nickname wise i think little one would be a big one (probably used most by Melissa and Chris) Little wolf/Baby wolf variations like that are used by the pack. Derek calls him rock star and little guy and Isaac absolulety lovesss it!! peter calls him, little trouble/little trouble maker.

Caregiver: Because Isaac regresses i think the youngest in the group i feel like everyone looks after him so he doesn't really have a set caregiver. However Derek is his primary Caregiver, and once he left Chris took Derek's place. (Not in a bad way!!) Deaton looks after him A LOTTTT and they have loads of fun with the doggies!!

Differences: Isaac is overall pretty confident whilst in a big head space (especially after the bite) but when he is regressed hes normally pretty quiet. If hes on the younger scale of his age range he babbles quite a bit to himself and sometimes to whoever hes with. If he is on the older scale of his age range then he gets quite nervous talking. (Although everyone always assures him they love hearing him speak!!)

Energy: He's a very hyper kiddo however he also runs out of energy quickly (despite being a werewolf and all lol) He often needs to take naps, he will fight nap time tho as he most definetly will state that he is not tired - he is.

Friends: Everyone loves Isaac when hes small (Even Stiles) As i've said when discussing Stiles's regression they are an unlikely pair and while big they struggle to get on but when they are small they are like two peas in a pod! They are definetly the bestest of friends. Followed by Scott. The three of them are always hanging out. Hes super close with Allison. (calls her Ally!!!) Peter and Isaac surprisingly get on, Derek didn't think they would and was worried that with Peters past if the two of them would clash, but nopeee the two of them are actually quite close!

Gear: I'm kinda just gonna list what he has and this might be hard to understand. So i do not believe he has anything from his childhood anymore other thank a small baby blanket that he managed to keep and hide from his father. He was given a box of fidget toys from Allison, Scott and Stiles (and by that i mean Allison took Scott and Stiles to go buy some) Stiles ended up gifting Isaac a few of his own fidget toys!!! Derek bought him a set of colourful sippy cups and a few baby bottles. Melissa bought him some pacifiers and chewalary/teethers. Deaton got him a few toys (things like some toy cars, dinasours, a few dolls because why not! idk why i just feel like he'd love them, little bits and bobs like that. and upon finding out that Isaac owned no stuffies peter took it upon himself to buy him a few (he now has a little blue and brown dog, a soft wolf plush and a pale pink teddy)

Home: Okay i'm going to try and be kinda vague on this one, no. home is not a safe place for his regression until he moved in with Derek and then home absolutely became a safe place ton regress!!

Involantary: His regression can be both volantary or involatary however it is normally not a volantary experience.

jingle: He listens to music box versions of songs and if he's with Stiles they will listen to disney together!

Kite: He prefers to play inside rather than outside however he does enjoy climbing trees and making dens!! He normally makes Chris help him with these (Chris knows the woods very well and can keep Isaac safe there!!)

Life: Simply put, yes his regression does interfere with his daily life however everyone tries their best to help him in the best way they can and accomodate to what he might need.

Monsters: Honestly i see Isaac as someone who while regressed is scared of quite a lot. (and understandably so with all the supernatural going on in Beacon Hills) I also think he is quite jumpy and gets very triggered and scared by loud noises (especially yelling/fighting)

Nostalgia: He wasn't able to keep anything from his childhood to help him regress other than a small baby blanket however i feel like certain tv shows he would have watched help him regress (this is definetly self indulgent because i love the show when small and i used to watch it but i feel like he would enjoy and could of watched The Trap Door!!!)

Object: I believe when it comes to a comfort item it would be an item of Derek's or Scott's clothing! Specifically like an oversized jumper/hoodie!!

Play: He plays but normally quietly and on his own. He prefers to play around other people playing but not necessary *with* them. He does however like playing dinasours with Stiles!! He also likes playing with the dogs at the shelter with Stiles and Scott.

Quizzical: No I honestly don't see Isaac as someone wonders off, i feel like that would make him too anxious. Hes very on guard due to his past so i feel like he wouldn't really get distracted.

Relationship: As i said in the Stiles agere game most of the pack are either regressors or caregivers so they are all very understanding and supportive.

Snacks: fruit and sweets. I honestly can't really explain why i think this it just made sense to me

World: The place he feels safest is Derek's or where ever his friends are.

Xxx: He shows his affection by making gifts. He is not the greatest as writing but i see him being really creative and artistic and he loves drawing, colouring and just overall making pictures and for things people.

Yuck: Overall i see him being quite embarressed about his regression esspecially if he regresses quite young or when noone else is. but as ive previously said the pack ect make sure he knows that it is okay and they look after him.

Zoo: He LOVESSS dogs. i will forever stand by that after the scene in the clinic!

It wasn’t incredibly often that James found himself feeling absolutely helpless and it wasn’t a feeling he wasn’t entirely sure he enjoyed. What was worse was that this was entirely his fault.

Oddly enough it started with his girlfriend asking to sit beside him in a few classes and pouted that she didn’t understand why Sirius ALWAYS had to be his desk mate. James laughed finding the complaint rather cute and easily fixable, but how was he supposed to not tease her when her face looked that cute? It was then that James made his mistake and leaned over to whisper, “How do you expect me to pay attention to their lectures and keep my hands to myself when you’re sitting next to me in that skirt? You know I bet by the time class was over you’d be begging me to just take you right there on the desk in front of everyone.”

He honestly thought that would be the end of it. James even planned on surprising her and sitting next to her during their Transfiguration class later in the day. Somehow he just knew he was in trouble when (Y/N) took a seat next to him in charms… especially when she didn’t even greet him. He tried to slyly look over at his traitor of a best friend and the hushed chuckle when their gazes met only made James more suspicious of the switch… Merlin, he really hoped that she didn’t expect him to deliver on what he suggested earlier… he’d just been joking.

As the lecture started and (Y/N) resembled a model student, James relaxed a bit. If she could follow along that well and even go as far as to take notes then maybe James should take her advice and pay attention as well. He did manage to focus on the lesson for a few moments, he happened for be so into it that he hadn’t even noticed (Y/N)’s free hand slip under the table until it was on top of his thigh.

James couldn’t help, but straighten up at her touch. Through the corner of his eye he could see her smirk pointed down at her parchment as her finders slowly moved up towards his-

James coughed much louder than he had intended to, summoning multiple pairs of eyes to look back at him. He mumbled an uncharacteristically meek apology and Flitwick went back to his teaching. This might’ve been the first time James wanted to soak up every bit of knowledge being offered up to him. Really, he just wanted to latch onto anything that could keep him from thinking about his his dick that was hardening as (Y/N) palmed him through his trousers.

James waited until Flitwick was turned around before leaving over and whispering to her, “Come on babe…”

“Just pay attention.” She winked and wore a grin that let him know she was entirely pleased with herself.

The treatment only got worse in James’ opinion. He thought he would be somewhat relieved when Sirius sat next to him in the following class, but honestly he was a bit disappointed to see (Y/N) back at her usual searing arrangement. He swore he saw her grin every time he found himself looking at her.

He was actually relived when she was finally next door him again a whole class period later. He wasn’t quite thrilled to see she still planned on barely giving him attention though. Maybe he should give her a taste of her own medicine. The plan seemed solid enough until he reached for her… As soon as his finger brushed her leg she popped his hand… she popped his hand like he was a child… James could hardly believe it, but ever the good boyfriend that he was he withdrew and simply sat there. It might’ve looked like he was pouting, but James would confirm that simply wasn’t the case.

His expression softened when he felt her hand next to his leg, but she didn’t move further than that. Slowly frustration built and James swallowed his pride, and he gently grabbed her hand and placed it on his leg. He may not have been permitted to touch her at the moment, but that didn’t sway him at all from wanting her hands on him.

Her hand remained stationary for awhile until their professor turned his back. She took the opportunity to scoot a little closer so she’d have an easier time whispering quietly to him, “You want something from me?”

Really? Like she didn’t know what she wanted. He bit his tongue metaphorically, trying to hold onto the slightest bit of dignity, but it was hard… she was right there and it’d be so easy for her to- He supposed he now had a better understanding of how she felt all those times he’d gone out of his way to rile her up. Except he couldn’t recall being so mean! He never started things he didn’t intend to finish, and he normally gave in with the slightest bit of indignation. (Y/N) seemed content to wait as long as it took. “Bloody hell, will you just touch me already please?!”

Had they been in a different setting she might’ve been more apt to push him a little further, perhaps ask for specifics. For now she would be satisfied with the vague answer, “Good boy.”

His cock twitched a bit at the praise and it took every ounce of willpower and strength he had not to moan out when her palm was resting back against it. The embarrassment of being caught red-handed would’ve been excruciating obviously, but the real trouble came from if he was too loud then she would surely stop and the thought of that was horrible. An unimaginable thought really, because even though DADA was usually his favorite subject the only thing he could think about was claiming that release that he was denied earlier.

James supposed he must’ve had a tell the he didn’t know about. Maybe it was how he suddenly tensed under her touch. Or maybe how his knuckles were turning white with how hard he was gripping his quill. Whatever it was it must’ve given him away because as soon as he was about to tip right over the edge she stopped. She stopped. Again. James let out a breath he wasn’t even aware he was holding in when he felt the warmth of her hand abandon him yet again.

James thought he was about to combust… he did think about heading to any empty restroom or closet and taking care of it himself, but something about the mischievous grin on her face kept him glued to his chair. Kept him just waiting.

He really tried to be patient as could, but as soon as the lesson was over he found himself pulling her into the first unused room he found and whipping out his wand to cast a quick: colloportus.

“James! We’re gonna be late!” She scolded him, but the giggle seemed to be proof enough she wasn’t actually that concerned about any tardiness.

“I could not care less! What are you doing to me and why?! Is your plan to do this all day? I don’t think I can bloody take it-“

“That’s funny I thought you said this morning I’d be begging you.” A wicked smile spread across her face and James knew he’d lost, but fuck he didn’t care. Whatever she wanted from him he’d give it to her. If she wanted him to beg then he’d be on his knees in a second.

of course you have shown up to the huge volleyball tournament your boyfriend is currently taking part in, you wouldn’t miss it for the world. you absolutely adore watching oikawa play because you get to witness a side of him that you don’t normally get to see. a more serious and focused side. a side of him solely driven by determination and desire, and you quite like seeing such passion physically radiate from his skin as he plays. it’s captivating really, so captivating that you don’t even notice the presence of the tall figure moving closely beside you until his arm accidentally brushes against yours. 

“oh, my bad. i was just trying to move closer to get a better view of the game.” the stranger says. he’s tall, dark hair, slender yet muscular build. his hazel eyes are looking down at you apologetically as he gives you a quick smile and you return him a smile as well. 

“no worries. you play?” you ask, taking in the man’s appearance. he’s wearing a volleyball uniform so you don’t even know why you asked that, the answer blatantly obvious. but you figured it would be a nice way to make conversation nonetheless. 

“i do, i’m a middle blocker. supposed to play the winning team of this game actually. that’s why i came to watch.” he says tilting his head down to the court where your boyfriend is currently playing. “i’m tetsuro by the way, but you can call me kuroo. or whatever you prefer.” he turns his attention back to you, holding out his right hand for you to shake. you take his hand in yours, shaking it firmly.

“i’m y/n, nice to meet you kuroo.” you say kindly before turning your attention back to the game that you had temporarily forgotten about. you lock eyes with oikawa who’s looking up at you with an expression that you can’t quite read. but what you do know is he does not look happy despite the fact that his team had just scored a point, giving them a five point lead in a round that can win them the whole game. you frown a bit, confused as to why he’s upset. 

“you know him or something?” kuroo asks you, raising an eyebrow as he speaks. 

“who oikawa? yeah, i know him very well. he’s my boyfriend.” you respond and there’s a slight glint of disappointment in kuroo’s eyes. 

“ahh i see, should’ve known a pretty girl like you wouldn’t be single.” kuroo sighs and you can’t help but blush at the nice compliment. 

“haha, thank you. but yes, i’m happily taken.” you smile, glancing down to oikawa who still looks somewhat frustrated. 

“i’ve heard from mutual friends that oikawa can be quite the handful. is that true?” kuroo asks genuinely. 

“mm, i suppose. he can be complicated sometimes, he’s got a very unique personality. but it’s nothing i can’t handle. i think we’re really good together.” you defend your boyfriend and kuroo flashes you a smirk. 

“he’s a lucky dude, that oikawa. you’re stunning and you seem like you have a great head on your shoulders.” kuroo flirts and again you feel yourself start to blush. it’s not that you’re actually interested in this guy. sure, he’s attractive and all, but your heart is with oikawa and it always will be. it’s just that compliments always seem to fluster you, no matter who they’re from. 

oikawa can spot your blush and the way you’re smiling and giggling while speaking to kuroo from his spot on the court. he has no clue what it means, but an intense sensation of heat is building in his chest and he suddenly feels the urge to punch something. better yet, punch someone. he’s up to serve and if anyone in the gym hadn’t known something was up with oikawa’s mood before, they most definitely notice it now. oikawa is infamous for having an insanely powerful serve, even when he isn’t currently seething over the hot shot stranger flirting with his girlfriend in the stands. so you can only imagine the sheer amount of power he serves the ball with while his anger builds within him as he watches you and the dark haired guy from the corner of his eye. the harsh sound of his skin meeting the smooth leather of the ball is like something you’ve never heard before. the frown on his face as he hits it, his eyebrows knitted closely together and his bottom lip tucked tightly between his teeth, it’s clear that he’s mad. really mad. and the sound the ball makes when it smacks the floor on the other side of the net, seemingly not even taking half a second to get there, is gut retching. you’re sure that if anyone had even dared to receive that, they may as well have been asking for death. your eyes go wide and the stadium goes quiet for a solid second before cheers and chants of oikawa’s name echo all throughout the building. that was the winning point, and to the outside viewer they may just suspect that oikawa served the ball like that to solidify his teams’ victory. but you know there’s a deeper routed reason behind that unnecessarily powerful serve. 

“sheesh, does your boyfriend always serve like that at game point? definitely gonna have to warn my teammates about that.”  kuroo says, clearly in awe over the hit. 

“he’s usually powerful, but not like that. that was different. something’s wrong.” you realize and begin to make your way over to the stairs of the stands so you could figure out what’s got your boyfriend so obviously distraught. 

“well it was nice meeting you y/n, thanks for keeping me company throughout the game.” kuroo calls after you and you turn to face him.

“same to you kuroo.” you respond, not knowing that oikawa is glaring at the two of you aggravatedly as he waits for you to finish making your way down the stairs.

“what was that about?”

“what was that about?” 

you two ask in unison as soon as you’re in each other’s presence. 

“you first.” you say, looking into oikawa’s eyes with anticipation. he rolls his eyes at you, placing one hand on his hip and the other on the bridge of his nose. 

“are you serious? you really have no idea of why i’m upset? no ideas at all?” he sighs, removing his hand from his nose and you frown at him in confusion. 

“no? did i do something?” you ask. your voice soft with guilt even though you have no clue what you even feel guilty for. 

“that dude, fucking abercrombie model over there. he was flirting with you the entire game. it was hard to concentrate when he was practically sucking your face right in front of me.” oikawa huffs dramatically and you can’t help but let out a small laugh.

“you mean kuroo? he does kind of look like an abercrombie model huh?” you giggle and oikawa looks like he’s about to blow a fuse.

“you think this is funny? well it’s not y/n. it was seriously annoying watching him make you smile and laugh like that. what’d you say his name is? kuroo? i hate him. i hate kuroo.” oikawa pouts. 

“oikawa babe, are you jealous?” you ask with a teasing smile and he shoots you the most intense look he’s ever given you.

“me? why would i be jealous. literally what is there to be jealous of? like ok yeah, he has cool hair. and he’s tall. and he’s got a nice face. and his volleyball team is actually pretty good. but that does NOT mean i’m jealous y/n. i’m never jealous. ever.” oikawa huffs and you find it painfully difficult not to full on laugh at him. 

“i hate to break it to you pretty boy, but you sound a bit jealous.” you say, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.

“yeah whatever.” he mumbles, lifting your hand to his face so he can nuzzle into your touch a bit. “i guess i just felt intimidated by him, and i’ve never really felt like that before so i didn’t know how to react. i just got really angry, as i’m sure you saw.” he continues, scratching the back of his head awkwardly. “but i trust you, and i know you weren’t flirting back. you were just being friendly because that’s who you are, and i love that about you. so i apologize for overreacting like that, that was kind of stupid.” 

your heart.

“it wasn’t stupid toru, everyone falls victim to jealousy at least once. i’m just glad to see that you care enough to get that upset.” you laugh lightly. 

“well duh, i’m too in love with you to not get upset over that.” he says, placing a finger under your chin before lifting your face up for a kiss. the kiss is passionate, far too passionate to be happening in a gym full of tons of people but that’s oikawa for you. he couldn’t care less about what other people think, especially when he’s with you. when he’s with you, it’s just you and him. no one else matters.

well...

“that was a killer serve oikawa, hope to see it again when we play you in a little bit.” a familiar voice rings from beside you. you disconnect the kiss and open your eyes, greeted by a very smug looking kuroo. you thought you had seen oikawa reach peak anger earlier, but you stand corrected. if looks could kill, kuroo would be long deceased by now, already buried six feet under. but kuroo is completely unbothered and just walks away with that trying smirk of his. 

“oh i’ll gladly serve like that again, right at your face.” oikawa whispers with a sadistic grin. 

it’s safe to say that kuroo’s team does not win this game.

Fair warning: it's a long post. Let's examine some of the reasons that Kara has cited why she didn't tell Lena the super secret:

1. She wanted to protect her

Now, this one has some legs on it as Kara specifically mentions it in S3 during a conversation with James and Mon-El. And there's definitely some truth to it. But it's also bullshit. Lena was in constant danger and put herself at risk to save/protect Kara who didn't actually need it. In fact, the first time Lena's mentioned (not shown just mentioned) it's in regards to the venture explosion - something that happened because Lex was trying to kill her. People have been trying to kill, kidnap, manipulate, threaten Lena since minute one. Knowing Kara = SG would not have severely worsened any of that. In fact, it might've helped ease Lena's anxieties and resulted in her taking less risks with her life. In fact, I'm surprised Lena didn't think that Kara's association with her was putting Kara at risk (a far more likely thing).

The 100th episode addresses this to some degree in one of the AUs. Lena tells Kara that she wouldn't have had to risk her life dealing with Sam/Reign alone if she'd known the truth and she's absolutely right. And sure, Lena could've told SG and the DEO when she pieced Reign = Sam together but ask yourself, why would she? What assurance did she have that the DEO would not have treated her BEST FRIEND like a hostile instead of someone in need of help? The DEO is guilty of this and they have a history of locking up aliens indefinitely and on occassion straight up murder. After Reign nearly killed their biggest asset (i.e. SG) why in the hell would Lena trust them with helping Sam? She wouldn't nor should she have. She didn't know that she could go to SG because remember, Lena doesn't think of her the same way she does of Kara. SG is not her best friend. She doesn't have a personal, humanized relationship with her (at least not that she knows of). And obviously she's not going to tell Kara the human reporter with the DEO agent sister about it either. And the kryptonite? SG lost her shit over it even though she's been working with the DEO who stockpiled the stuff until SM left with it (a dumbass move that would've bit them so hard in the ass with the WK situation if it weren't for Lena's kryptonite!). Plus, Kara didn't have an issue with Oliver having a kryptonite arrow, J'onn having a sword. But Lena? How dare she!

So yea no. I get that "I kept my secret to protect you" is a popular thing in the hero world but in the case of Kara and Lena, it doesn't make sense and it did make situations unnecessarily harder.

2. She didn't trust Lena

This is mentioned by Kara to William in a deleted scene from S5 but I think it's worth exploring. I'm not sure to what extent Kara means with this but it could be referring to the moments as SG where she did display a distrust of Lena's intentions and she used Lena's personal relationships against her (i.e. asking James to break into Lena's lab). I mentioned the S3 shitshow with the kryptonite which is where a lot of this started but there's also other scenes in that same season where SG pretty much calls into question the so-called trust she has in Lena despite claiming otherwise. The switch was so abrupt the minute she learned Lena not only had but knew how to make kryptonite. Did anyone ever consider why Lena would bother learning how to make kryptonite? I'd hazard a guess that it was something she was looking into even before Sam/Reign. I think she happened to find Lex's stock and she decided to learn how it works and why it affects the Supers like it does. That would explain how Lena seems to be the ONLY ONE able to make an anti-kryptonite suit and other viable forms of the rock (i.e. Harun el). But no, SG and others immediately jump to the worst conclusions and associate the endeavour with Lena's last name, something SG KNOWS Lena is sensitive about it. And then the harun el. SG was suddenly fine with Lena making it when it was to split Sam from Reign and save Argo from extinction. But when it was used for something else that Lena didn't clue her in on (and what do you know, Alex, Brainy and James didn't either and they KNEW what Lena was doing with it) she got back on her high horse and the distrust became front and centre. You can't trust Lena as Kara and then immediately distrust her as SG and expect her to be accepting of this dichotomy. I'm surprised the woman managed to retain her sanity.

And still, this reasoning doesn't quite hit the mark in comparison to every other insistence of Kara believing in Lena (from day one she even told Clark that she believed Lena after meeting her for the first time). But the contrasting opinions and actions must have given Lena pause. I don't blame her to call into question which version of the truth was real and choosing to believe the worst. It's what SG and the SFs have been doing to her.

3. She was wary of Lena

This isn't an explicitly given reason but I do think it's how the secret keeping started in S2. Frankly, I don't even blame Kara for not showing her full deck in the beginning because she (and even us as an audience) didn't know much about Lena beyond wanting to do good and not be like her family. So no, Kara not telling Lena in the beginning actually makes sense to me (though she told Nia in a split second but that's neither here nor there). For me, I started to seriously take Lena at her word after the Medusa episode. That would've been the perfect opportunity for her to show the true "xenophobic" colours some parts of the fandom accuse her of having and she didn't do it. I don't think she even got so much as a thank you for it. People praise SM for getting Lex arrested but ultimately it was Lena's testimony that got him thrown behind bars. Same thing with Lillian! And yes, the daxamite invasion was facilitated by Lena unwittingly working with Rhea but she fixed it with the lead dispersal bomb, a device she allowed SG the privilege of using or not. So Kara and the SFs being cautious about Lena really should've evaporated halfway through S2 (and it did for Kara at least). In fact, the daxamite invasion may not have happened if Lena knew exactly who Rhea was and her relation to Mon-El because they would've warned Lena about it. Lena did want Kara's advice on Rhea and she would've waited for it if she knew what was going on (i.e. Alex being held hostage) and hell, might've been able to fix it in typical Lena ex machina fashion.

4. She didn't want to lose her

This is probably as close to the truth as we've gotten and it's actually part of her confession in 5x01 (something her outburst in 5x19 tries to undo). But the thing is, Kara KNEW this was a possibility and yet, continued walking towards the deadly cliff with her eyes wide open. The probability of losing Lena got higher and higher as time went on and it was always inevitable. There was always this spotlight placed on Kara telling Lena or Lena finding out on her own but there was always a HUGE chance that Lillian would've told her. Or Lex, which is exactly what happened. And Kara knew that they knew and yet she did nothing about it. The minute kara found out Lillian knew she should've taken action, what guarantee did she have that Lillian wouldn't have gotten bored of waiting for Lena to piece it together? How can they just leave Lillian with dangerous knowledge like that is beyond me. When Alex in particular has made such a big deal about people knowing, didn't want Kara telling Lena, only allowed Kara to tell Lucy to save J'onn and yet, letting Lillian amble about with this info is okay??? Nothing was stopping her from telling Lena or it slipping during one their chess games and definitely nothing stopping Lex from dropping that bomb.

The 100th episode AUs showed us that each time it was Kara telling the truth, no matter how hurt and upset Lena rightfully was, she was ultimately fine with it. And Kara ends up losing her to death, not because Lena walked away. How this wasn't the takeaway message for Kara after that adventure, idk. It was Kara's hesitatancy in telling Lena that allowed Lex to weaponize this secret and twist it into something it never was. And yes, Kara doesn't owe a damn soul her secret and has rarely ever been given the chance to tell anyone on her own terms (James - told by SM, Alex, J'onn, Brainy, Mon-El, the Legion - always knew, Lex & Lillian, Lord & Cat - found out somehow). She only ever got to tell Winn, Lucy and Nia and I'm sorry but none of those people have ever proven themselves trustworthy at the time of the reveal the way Lena has.

So while Kara is every right to keep her secrets, she was wrong to insert herself in Lena's life if she never had any intention of telling her and let's be honest, it really didn't seem like Kara had any timeline on that front.

5. She was selfish

Similar to the above and also mentioned during the confession but this is even deeper. Lena was something of an outlet for Kara, a way to feel completely normal, something she hasn't been able to experience with anyone, even Mon-El. Can you imagine being a cub reporter who knows powerful CEO Lena Luthor and having said CEO choose to spend time with you? Choose to let you interview her when she's wary of the press (remember her interactions with Clark in 2x01 and her family history)? Choose to treat your problems as important and valid and human? I don't blame Kara at all for being selfish with Lena, for wanting to keep Lena all to herself like that. But to not share the other aspects of herself was seriously wrong too and resulted in this imbalance in their relationship. To Lena, it looks like she was giving all of herself when Kara was not. It looks like she put all her trust and vulnerabilities out there when Kara didn't. It looks like Kara was using her (which let's be real, she kinda did a few times in S2 with the fight club and bs article to get info on Lillian and then ofc the CatCo-Edge problem she visited Lena for after ignoring her and proceeding to continue the rejection after Lena said she'd look into it).

You think post-reveal Lena didn't think back to all those moments and have those kinda thoughts? Even called into question what might've been the real reason James dated her and Kara was so insistent on befriending her? Were there perhaps times were she figured it out and can't remember and what's why she chose not to see it? Why do we think she still showed up game night in 4x22 instead of confronting Kara? Because these thoughts amongst others must've been swarming her mind and the only way to keep the upper hand is to continue playing dumb. So yes, Kara made the conscious decision to be selfish with Lena because of the unexpected connection they forged and I get it totally. But Lena has never been selfish and she's always made hard efforts to be a damn good friend (and she was idc what others might think on that) and open herself up to Kara despite how difficult and frankly foreign that is for her.

So are Kara's reasons valid? To a point, I would say yes but their validity waned over the seasons to the point where the secret keeping didn't even make sense anymore.

So was Lena's anger valid? Yes! 100% it was and honestly, I'm surprised she managed to keep it together for so long. I couldn't. But her anger doesn't justify her actions (mind control, manipulating Kara, threatening Russell, holding J'onn's bro captive, putting Hope inside Eve) and how she went out of her way to hurt Kara back. However, I get why she did it though it's worth pointing out that this is the only instances of a betrayal in her life where Lena has gone this far. Bitch straight up spiralled where previously she would cut ties and move the fuck on with life. But with Kara, that doesn't even seem to manifest itself to Lena as an option. Will the show ever address the obvious WHY for this and for Kara being so so terrified of losing Lena (like honestly I have never seen Kara look more distressed).

Maybe, maybe not but regardless I'm not buying this platonic friends nonsense because no one is that devastated over a friendship. Many of us (myself included) have experienced falling outs with very close friends and breakups. Which one do you think the Kara/Lena rift in S5 felt like? It was full on heartbreak, loving someone in complete torment and not being able to stop despite wanting to because even though it's painful, the alternative is infinitely worse.

MB and KM's acting choices aside, these idiot showrunners have brought us to this point with their own narrative and the only logical next step is to make them canon.

Aww yeahhh time for Kiyo to make his entrance!

I wrote an entire essay about him (again whoops) so it’s very long and under the cut for your viewing pleasure ;)

Kiyo, the Guildmaster of the Asterstone Guild! He only took up the position recently and has had the Guildmaster title for about a year and a half. He was the previous record holder for youngest Guildmaster until that title was stolen by Taku. (Kiyo holds a grudge about it but it’s playful.) 

Kiyo, just like lots of other characters in ATS, was taken in by the Asterstone Guild at a young age. He’s similar to Shima in that he has no previous memories before showing up outside the guild one day, battered and bruised. (That marks three characters in this series with amnesia now! Wrow) He grew up under the watchful eye and tutelage of the previous Guildmaster, and because of how attached to him she’d gotten, it wasn’t long before he began to express desires to take over the guild once she retired. After a lot of thought and contemplation she eventually handed over the position to him. This initially resulted in a lot of outrage from the guild members because they did not think Kiyo was suited to be the Guildmaster, but he eventually proved them wrong once he stepped up to the plate and showed them he could act like a true leader!

They did have good reason to be nervous about that, though, as Kiyo is normally a very laid-back and carefree person and is strictly non-violent. This has lead into lots of situations where he’s opted out of fighting, leading his guildmates into lots of trouble when they needed a hand, and they labeled him as both a coward for avoiding necessary battles on missions (which is practically a requirement for a guild member going out on dangerous quests, you sort of have to have a battle prowess to take on any foes) and lazy for not participating when he should. Initially this bothered Kiyo a great deal, but the previous guildmaster assured him that not everybody is suited for battling others, and that he can still pave his own way to success in a non-violent manner. While Kiyo may not have a liking for fighting, he has an extremely smooth tongue and is very capable of talking himself out of sticky situations (mostly by bribing. He is VERY good at that lmao). He has a talent for manipulating others into doing what he wants them to, though he rarely uses this on people he considers friends. When Kiyo’s able to complete a mission and win the day without resorting to using their elemental powers in a fight, his guild members have to stop and think for a second like. Hold on. He just did that so easily, he made it look so simple, we really need to stop underestimating him and calling him totally useless (Kiyo: Hey. HEY).

Kiyo’s pretty close to all of his guildmates despite their constant ribbing—the one person he’s close to that adores him completely is Lacie, because he was the person to bring her into the guild (she was around 10, he was 17), and being the first person to genuinely show her kindness that wasn’t for ulterior motives, Lacie became very attached to him. Kiyo acts like an older brother to her, and Lacie supports him in whatever he does. She was thrilled when he took on the Guildmaster position, and he has a very soft spot for her :’) She always sings his praises to anybody outside who will listen, and gets angry at Emrys the one time he called Kiyo incompetent.

After becoming the guildmaster, Kiyo actually does a good job at taking charge despite the general opinions that he wouldn’t. He’s still very casual about it though and is a bit more flexible with how the guild is run, preferring to let the guild members do things their own way and be less strict about the overall rules. He’s basically got the “Do whatever you want!” and “Just wing it!” outlook, and while a lot of the members don’t like this attitude, a lot of them do. At the end of the day they all do respect him, though! While he isn’t a fighter he’s very good at giving orders and keeping things in check around Asterstone lol

Despite Kiyo’s insistence on staying out of battles, he’s actually an extremely skilled fighter, and is probably the strongest and most dangerous person in the entire guild. The issue with this, though, is that whenever he gets into a fight, he tends to get too “serious” and starts going off the walls, treating the battle as a game and something fun and entertaining. This leads into him not knowing when to stop, and nobody else being able to stop him, so he’s seriously injured other people without meaning to—revealing that he’s actually terrified of violence because he loses himself in it, and why he prefers to stay on the sidelines. It’s only when Kiyo gets really serious in battles that a darker side comes out, and where the star mark in his eye appears. It’s only been seen a few rare times throughout his life at the guild, so nobody really thinks much of it or notices it. It’s only after the star mark appears that Kiyo passes out afterwards, having exerted a lot of power and extremely skilled battle prowess nobody has ever seen before. However, after a grand guild tournament where Kiyo faces off against Taku and gets too into it, revealing his star mark and almost slicing Taku’s head clean off, one of Kiyo’s advisors at the guild starts to look into it out of concern for both Kiyo’s safety and that of others.

In the middle of all this mess, Kiyo meets Toru, and after nearly forcing him to join Asterstone, the two start growing closer 👀 Toru joins the squad of not putting up with Kiyo’s bullshit, but that’s only after he gets over his starstruck fanboy phase. Because Toru is newer to the guild and because he’s a non-elemental not suited for fighting, Kiyo instantly becomes attached to him, finding similarities in their preferences and backgrounds. While Toru does think Kiyo’s an idiot sometimes he treats him very kindly, and is usually the first to defend him when the other members playfully tease him, so Kiyo’s just like you are an angel sent from heaven just for me and I adore you. Still though with Toru being a non-elemental Kiyo stresses about his safety CONSTANTLY, even after Toru gets official training in self defense. If Toru’s in danger Kiyo will blow off literally everything else to go rescue him first, which the other members have to get used to as it happens more often than they’d like akdasbmlads

Later down the line the guild is caught up in something terrible, and find themselves being targeted by a descendant of a great inventor and sorcerer (not Elymas this time tho lol). She’s apparently seeking what’s known as the Velle Nova, and has reason to believe Asterstone is in possession of it. After Kiyo’s forced to fight and unleashes the power behind his star mark, the descendant reveals that Kiyo has the Velle Nova, and then the truth finally comes out…

Kiyo remembers everything about his past. Years ago, his town had been caught up in a great disaster, and he was the only survivor. He was forcibly taken in by several scientists, one of them being the ancestor of the girl descendant. They were attempting to recreate the Velle Nova, one of the great sorcerer Elymas’ inventions, which is said to grant any sort of wish imaginable. They wanted to claim that power for themselves and possess the powers of the universe itself. However every attempt had failed, and without the real Velle Nova they couldn’t achieve what they were after. So they decided to pour all of their research into Kiyo instead, and try to create the weapon inside of a human being. This ended up making a twisted, broken version of what should have been the Velle Nova. But Kiyo couldn’t contain its power—it was going to unravel the universe itself and either destroy everything or alter it tragically into something unimaginable. One of the scientists working with the group realized how awful their experiment was and, being a Time elemental, decided to erase Kiyo’s memories (with some help) and send him centuries into the future so that the rest of the group couldn’t get their hands on him. Hence Kiyo winding up outside of Asterstone with no memories, and the truth behind his star mark. It had been granting Kiyo his wish the whole time—the longing to protect the things he cares about by being able to defeat any threat in his way. Of course with the unstable power that he can’t control, it usually leads into disaster;;

Kiyo, now having recovered his memories, realizes that the same thing is going to happen again, and decides to seal himself off to protect Asterstone and the world before the universe unravels. Cue an epic PMD-esque goodbye scene where he bids farewell to Toru, gives him his trademark scarf, and vanishes, escaping into a dimension between time and space where his power can be contained. *Starts playing I Don’t Want To Say Goodbye*

Toru, absolutely devastated by Kiyo’s farewell, decides he’s going to break time and space to save his man, except there’s one small issue...nobody else remembers that Kiyo even existed, and Toru only managed to by some miracle (and also maybe bc Kiyo handed him his scarf idk some magic soul connection thing). But after a while...a long while, maybe like a year or more...they finally unlock the key to finding Kiyo!!

Toru and Kiyo share a tearful reunion, and Kiyo cries a lot because it had been so lonely sitting in that black hole all by himself for so long. Toru begs Kiyo to come back, and suggests that Kiyo separate himself from the Vella Nova in order to live a normal life, but Kiyo informs him that he and the Vella Nova...are the same. They’re the same combined entity! Kiyo says that if he tries to unfuse, he’ll just end up destroying himself, because there’s nothing to separate, being one singular existence. So Toru points out uh hey since you’re the same thing, don’t you get a say on how your power is used? “It’s your power, Kiyo” yes we’re referencing Tododeku here we go

Kiyo’s like hmm uh yeah I guess you have a point;; so we went through all that for nothing huh. And Toru tells him you’re a fucking moron and Kiyo’s like ahh yes but you loved this moron enough to come rescue him from the void ;) And they kinda sorta confess but not really? Kiyo’s too nervous and Toru’s too distracted trying to figure out how to get them out of there but no worries they sort it out later. Kiyo tells him that hey I’m still dangerous and I could lose control at any given moment and Toru’s just like well I guess we’ll just have to stop you and bring you back to yourself. So with the knowledge that he’s got a whole guild of awesome people backing him up and a boy who broke the laws of the universe to save his ass, Kiyo and Toru escape the rift and finally return home together 💕 And that’s pretty much how their arc ends!

Extra personality traits

-He has a really short attention span so this makes things painfully hard on mission briefings, which leads to Kiyo usually screwing up the mission one way or another

-He often charges ahead without thinking and is the first one to become a target in a bad situation. Nobody really feels bad for him though because most of the time it’s his fault for walking right into it LMAO

-He can be very childish sometimes and most of the time he does it on purpose. His guildmates complain that their leader is a whiny, immature brat

-He is an expert on how to annoy people do not test him oh my god

-He can be incredibly selfish;; He’s gotten better with it during recent years, but he got scorned for it a lot when he was younger. He’s also very emotional, and you can read what he’s thinking like an open book! When his friends can’t read him that’s when they start getting worried.

-He has no experience in romance whatsoever and it’s the one (1) thing that can get him flustered. Nobody at the guild has ever seen Kiyo get mildly embarrassed or caught off guard, so they begin to think it’s impossible to make him blush. Then Toru shows up and ruins everything lmao

-He has a great sense of humor and can always make others laugh! He’s also very mischievous and sometimes plays pranks on other members of his guild.

-He’s very stubborn when he wants something and not in a good way. He also pouts a lot when he gets like this

-He loves his guild and his guild members man :'( If any of them are ever in any real danger he's quick to offer himself up first as a target. He's protective of his friends and will do anything to keep them safe!

-A very very affectionate person. He mostly shows this through physical acts like hugging and generally touching other people. In return he also craves affection and gets very soft when it’s given back to him. I’d probably say he’s a little touch starved despite being in close contact with others all the time lol
