Started writing the fifth chapter of my persona 4 fanfic at midnight on a Sunday. Story is tentatively titled Let's Bash Queerphobes!, but I'll probably change it to something a bit more low-key because despite one scene of queerphobes getting bashed, a sheer, SHEER majority of these five chapters has been character-building and conversations.
With this fifth chapter, I'm finally getting to the point where the gang is gonna start getting into fights, but the chapters are so long y'know. Already planning for chapter six to have the next fight scene, and it should hopefully bring Kanji and Naoto into the action. I want to start publishing the chapters when I hit chapter 10.
#the first chapter introduces the characters and their circumstances#the second chapter shines a spotlight on chie and her trauma and it ends with her fighting a queerphobe#third chapter introduces naoto and focuses a little on kanji before reuniting with naoto#fourth chapter puts a little more spotlight on kanji but mostly focuses on naoto and chie#and naoto coming out as trans to chie#fifth chapter is some ensemble work with all three of them followed by kanji telling chie that he wants to fight gangs again#and the sixth chapter is gonna have chie looking out for gangs while kanji chills with naoto#only to find a gang and have to fight five of them by herself before kanji and naoto show up#there's a plot point I want to introduce where chie is attacked and breaks her eye socket which permanently changes how she looks#and idk if I should do it now or wait for a future chapter

Well.
#(I'm back)#It was. Uhm. A chapter#First of all: I'm ENDLESSLY GRATEFUL to the person who sent me the translation basically as soon as the chapter came out.#I even did like 90% of typesetting but didn't finish it because I had to go out#(aka with my friends were literally knocking out at my room and I couldn't make it any more late lol)#Mixed feelings about it? Mostly because there's so much exposition... I'll need to reread it another three times before it sinks in#The color page is AMAZING 10000000000000/10 I love my sskks so much they're so cute I love them so much they're so cute.#Easily the best part of the chapter.#The color page was? Very very pretty too? Like a lot more than usual if you ask me! I can't wait for the volume cover đ„șđ„ș#It should come out soon shouldn't it? Usually color spreads / pages open the volume...#Akutagawa fake dying again is funny. Like it isssss but also. Idk it's a little lame how we're changing the pov from ss/kk again :/#I can't even tell if I'm being biased or if it's an actual storytelling critique. I don't care right now I just want to see Akutagawaâ#being cool rather than. You know. Dead on the ground.#That said! It's also very funny and touches my sense of humor precisely.#Like yeah Akutagawa being like the second strongest pm member and overall one of the most powerful ability user in the worldâ#that everyone fears (and I know he is! He is indeed for real!)#And yet he always ends up face to the ground đđđ Like if we don't count the ss/kk fights he literally only ever won against Hawthorne.#And even then he failed to kill him and Mitchell. It's so funny to me. I love him. He's so pathetic#âWow! Akutagawa is so cool and invincible now!â *ends up biting the dust not even two chapters later*#It's okay because I love him. He's very very powerful and he's also very very pathetic I love that for him#That said :/ I don't really care about Fukuzawa :/ Idk :/ Like :/#Don't get me wrong I LOVE Fukuzawa (I don't. I'm mostly neutral towards him) but this is the ss/kk moment man :/ Whatchu doin#That's about it. Let's see what the next chapter brings!#Everything accounted for I'm glad there wasn't like. A ss/kk kiss or any other big big ss/kk moment#(although Atsushi admiring Akutagawa and thinking about his eyes has its fair share of neatness to it!!)#Because with everything going on this evening I really would have been let down to miss it#But I keep hope for the next chapters!! Please...#random rambles#Had tons of fun typesetting! Even though I don't think there's a point in posting it now. But would love to do it again in the future!#bsd spoilers

Faking It | Jeon Jungkook | Chapter One
Summary: Being divorced by the time you're thirty isn't the best feeling in the world but what happens when your parents find someone from your past that's in a similar boat? Pairing: f!reader (30) x Single Dad Jungkook (33) (Arranged Marriage Slow Burn?) Word Count: 11.3k (oh man holy shit) Warnings: Troubles with conceiving/seeing pregnancies to full term, Jungkook's first wife passed away in childbirth. (These themes will be spoken about throughout the fic and I will add extra warnings when need be in future chapters) a/n: Okay this one is gonna be a long one (in terms of chapter length, idk how many parts there will be) I'm really really in love with this story line so I hope you'll come along this cute, silly, awkward, heartwarming and heartbreaking journey with me đ„° p.s. I've been brainstorming with @kkusadmirer (ofc đ€) about this fic for a while now and I've just fallen in love with these characters too much that I had to get at least one part out. Okay okay enough from me. I hope you enjoy! (barely edited per usual I'm sry đ
)
"You should start dating again" my mom says to me, a dinner with a table for two this time since she said she wanted to talk to me about something important. If I would've known it was to nag me about something like this again I would've declined the invitation.
"Mom I already told you, I just got divo-" "You got divorced last year" she cuts me off and I sigh, knowing I'll probably get no where with this argument but continue on nevertheless.
"Point being, it hasn't been that long since Robert and I got divorced. I need time and space to figure out what I want out of life. I'm not interested in rushing into another marriage just for it to fail again" I explain and she simply downs the rest of her champagne in response, polishing it off in record time.
"You don't want to end up an old maid who didn't give me any grandchildren do you?" she says, repeating the same old argument again. "Mom I'm thirty, not forty five. I still have plenty of time to worry about babies and getting married again" I argue and she rolls her eyes before asking for another glass when the waiter passes by.
"You should at least try. Don't you like going out on dates?" she asks and I sigh, hating having this conversation over and over again.
"Dating was fun in my twenties but now that I'm more interested in finding someone to settle down with, it seems like all the guys that are remotely my age and happen to be decent human beings are already married" I explain and watch how she immediately takes her glass of champagne off the table once it's placed in front of her.
I'm glad she's drinking because having this conversation with her when she's sober is even more painful.
"You're exaggerating honey. I'm sure there is a fine young man just waiting for you around the corner" but before I'm able to respond to her, her eyes suddenly light up and she quickly gets out of her seat.
"Is it really you?" she says and another woman around her age that I've never seen before comes up to greet her. "How are you? It's been so long!" the mystery woman says and they quickly share an embrace before she turns to face me.
"And who is this beautiful young woman here with you?" she asks, making me shy away from them. "Oh this is my daughter y/n. Y/n this is Mrs. Jeon" she introduces us and tells me all about how they used to go to college together.
"Oh wow I think I remember my mom mentioning you before. You used to come over when I was little right?" I question, now remembering seeing her face in some of the pictures in my baby album.
"That's right! Little Jungkook and I used to come visit you all the time when you were just a teeny tiny little thing. You were the easiest baby I've ever come across, always sleeping and when you woke up you were as happy as can be" she rambles and I get a warm feeling in my chest, loving to have met someone who clearly cared so deeply for my mother and I.
"Who's Jungkook" I ask, looking back and forth between the two of them. "Jungkook is my son, he's just a few years older than you. I remember he was so fascinated by you, always wanting to come over and would watch over you as you slept, never causing a fuss as long as you were around" she says and I blush at the fact that her son would care about me just as much if not more than she does.
"How is he? Is he doing alright?" my mother asks and Mrs. Jeon gets a somber look on her face eyes fluttering to the floor before responding.
"Actually, he lost his wife a few years ago. She passed away after she gave birth to their daughter" she mumbles and I feel my chest tighten up at the thought of someone so young losing their life to something that is supposed to be so beautiful.
"My condolences to you all" I say, my eyes going glossy and she smiles in return, the memory bringing a tear to her eye as well. "Thank you love, that's very kind of you" she says, placing a hand on my shoulder before she clears her throat and blinks back her tears, wanting to put on a brave face in public.
"Why don't you come visit us at our home tomorrow evening? I would love to catch up and it would be good if the kids got reacquainted again" my mother suggests and I glare at her, knowing exactly what she's doing but also knowing there's no way I could stop her.Â
"I would love that! Our husbands might enjoy catching up too since they used to get along so well" Mrs. Jeon points out. "Then it's settled! How would you feel about making it a dinner instead?" my mother questions, digging us deeper into this evening we'll all be spending together. "I think that sounds perfect!" she agrees and I tune out the rest of the conversation, already trying to mentally prepare myself for the scheming I know my mother has planned.
~~~~
Kicking off my shoes and walking into my apartment I'm greeted by the serene sound of silence.Â
My black tuxedo cat meows as he jumps down from his cat tower and stretches for a second before coming over to greet me. "Hi Salem" I say, scooping him up and carrying him with me into my bedroom where I plop him down in the middle of my bed. "Mom only invited me to dinner because she wanted to tell me to start dating again" I relay to him, while I walk around my room, grabbing all the things I'll need to get ready for bed.
"I should've known she was up to something when she decided to invite me out on a random Wednesday night to go to my favorite restaurant. If the previous glances I had of the totals on those receipts didn't clue me in enough I don't know what would" I say in disbelief, having convinced myself hours earlier that it might've been about something good instead of another chance to nag me about something.
"I don't know why I even bother sometimes. She just has this worst case scenario mindset that I'm going to die alone and not leave a legacy. I understand that I'm their only child but with the way she talks, you would think I was well into my forties already" I say, verbally processing to him while he curls up into a ball, his eyes watch me walk back and forth until I walk into the en-suite bathroom to turn on the shower.
"Thanks for always listening to me Salem" I say, walking back over to him and scratching his head, "Don't know what I would do without you" I mumble before walking back over to the bathroom and closing the door.
Looking in the mirror I study my features, my hair styled just how I like it, my brows perfectly shaped but when I get to my eyes I notice it. I notice why my mother has gotten so worried about me.
It's as if the light's gone out of them. It's more than just 'Hey it's been a long day and I'm tired' no it's 'I don't even know what I'm doing here anymore' and for the first time, I admit to myself that I truly feel that way.
I reach for my cleanser and quickly wash off the little makeup that I still have on, lips completely plain and gone back to their natural color and some how my cheeks don't seem to be as rosy anymore after I had made sure to put on some more blush today to bring some color back to my face. Maybe it's not the makeup that's been washing me out, but the way that I've been living.
I will admit my days consist of going to work and coming home and doing that same thing over and over again. I don't really go out much and I only have a few friends but ever since I got divorced I just end up politely declining any sort of invitation I get from them. Doesn't matter if it's dinner or drinks or clubbing or even just a shopping trip.
I just can't get myself wanting to do anything anymore.
I step into the shower and I flinch slightly at the burning sensation the hot water brings to me but adjust it and step further under the stream once it's just to my liking. While going though my shower routine mindlessly I start trying to get to the bottom of what has got me living like this.
Robert wasn't the best husband in the world, mainly because he cheated on me but before that things were good between us. He made me laugh and was a perfect gentleman that always made me feel special and when we got married I swear I thought I couldn't be happier.Â
It felt like my life was falling into place, our life.
Until it wasn't.
I'm knocked out of my train of thought when I hear Salem pawing at the door and remember now that in my whirl winded state of mind I forgot to feed him. "Sorry Salem I'll be right out!" I call out for him and he meows in response. I swear that cat is more intelligent than I am most days.
I finish up my uninteresting night as I always do, turning out the lights and cuddling up with Salem until I eventually fall asleep but it took a little longer tonight. Thoughts full of what my future might look like if I don't start living instead of just existing.Â
As the 'what ifs' plague my mind they eventually drown themselves out as that same welcoming feeling of calm finally lulls me to sleep.Â
~~~~~~
"Hurry up they're almost here" my mother says, yanking me inside the house before I even have a chance to knock on the front door. "Nice to see you too mom" I say under my breath and she's wound up so tight it doesn't even phase her. I can tell she's been working hard to make sure everything is perfect once the Jeons arrive.
"Did you get that wine I told you to get?" she questions, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the wine bottle carrier in my hand, quickly taking it and rushing into the kitchen. "Yeah no problem mom you're welcome" I say, talking to the air in front of me still waiting for her to show any sign of gratitude.
"Go place your things in your old room so they're out of the way" she call out, leaving me sighing and trudging off to do as she says.
Once I retrace my steps and walk past the door to go to join her in the kitchen I'm stopped in my tracks when the doorbell rings.
"Oh honey can you get that? My hands are tied here" my mom yells and I take a deep breath in and out before doing just that.
"Hello y/n! It's so nice to see you again" Mrs. Jeon greets me as I step aside and let them in, soon after her is her husband who holds out his hand in greeting. "It's been quiet a long time hasn't it? I remember when you use to be-" "Grandpa! Grandpa! I wanna meet the pretty lady too!" a little girl no older than five years old says, walking around her grandfather's legs to get to me, greeting me with the most adorable bunny smile.
"And now who might this be?" I ask, already melting into a puddle from seeing how absolutely adorable she is. "I'm Juni" she laughs when I go down to her level. "Well it's very nice to meet you Juni and how old are you?" I ask and she lights up when I continue taking an interest in her. "I'm four! Well Daddy says I'm turning five soon but it feels like it's taking forever. Right Daddy?" she says and looks back towards the man now left standing in the doorway.
"That's right Juni" he responds and the deep tenor of his voice sends a slight shiver down my spine, so full of love and admiration that is obvious to anyone who might come across the pair. "Oh!" I say, quickly straightening back up to meet this mysterious Jungkook and my throat goes dry once I've laid eyes on him.
Tall, strong build, dark brown hair that's well taken care of and styled perfectly, strong jawline accompanied by the contrast of the softest look in his brown almost black galaxy eyes that are still focused on his beautiful daughter.
"I'm sorry" I say but he shakes his head before he turns his head in my direction, taking in the sight of me as well before speaking. "That's alright, Juni kind of grabs everyone's attention right away" he says giving me a soft smile. "I'm Jungkook" he says, holding his hand out to me. "Y/n" I say shyly and shake it, his hands being much larger than mine is comforting in a way.
"My mom told me we used to come see you when we still lived here" he says once we let go, Juni now quietly watching our exchange. "Used to?" I question, curious to know more about why our mothers had lost touch. "We went back to our hometown for a while and then moved back to the city soon after Juni was born" he says and I nod my head, accepting that as an answer for now but wanting to know more.
"Sounds like I was just an infant though so I don't really have any memory of it" I admit while rocking back and forth on my heels, a nervous habit I've picked up over the years. "It's alright, I didn't expect you to remember" he chuckles, "I was only three so I don't remember much of it either" we laugh at his returned confession and a more comfortable air settles between us.
"Well it's nice to finally meet you" I say and he nods his head. "Likewise" he replies and we stand there for a moment, not really knowing where to go from here then, thankfully Juni breaks the silence.
"Daddy I wanna talk to the pretty lady" she says and grabs my hand and pulls me away from him. "Be nice Juni" he warns and she pouts, leaving me crouching down to her level and tilting my head to meet her gaze. "There's enough of me to go around little one. Don't worry" I say, booping her on the nose and making her giggle again.
Jungkook walks in a bit more and closes the door behind him, watching our little exchange before my mother comes out to check on us.
"Y/n why don't you take Jungkook and..." she says trailing off, not having learned his daughter's name yet. "Juni" Jungkook says and my mother smiles at the sound of the adorable name. "Jungkook and Juni outside. I'm sure she'd love to run around a little bit before dinner is ready" she suggests and I agree while Juni starts jumping up and down, excited to explore an unfamiliar place.
Jungkook follows closely behind as I lead the way but I ultimately end up getting dragged along by Juni who is surprisingly perceptive and has already mapped out the door that we'll be going through. "Come on Daddy keep up!" she calls after him once we've reached the door, looking back and seeing that he's fallen behind.
"I'm right behind you Juni" Jungkook chuckles and once we step outside Juni lets go and runs back and forth all around the yard, looking at anything and everything she can find.
"Be careful!" I say, worried that she could hurt herself but Jungkook comes over and stands next to me and reassures me she'll be fine.
"It's alright, if she gets hurt it'll be a little reminder to pay attention to what she's doing next time. That's the only way kids really learn right?" he says turning towards me, granting me with a soft smile, almost as if he's looking for validation on his parenting choice.
"Of course," I respond, returning the smile, "even some adults need to crash and burn before they learn their lesson sometimes" I point out and it makes him relax a bit more, thankful to see that he's right in his dealings with situations like this.
"She's a good kid" I say after leading him over to the patio set we have out here so we can sit down and watch her. "Thanks, it's been difficult raising her on my own so I'm never really sure if I'm doing a good job or not" he admits and I nod my head, taking a second to think about my response since it's a sensitive subject.
"I can tell that you love her very much so I have no doubt in my mind that you'll always do right by her" and I can tell that my words bring him a sense of comfort. Being a single parent can be extremely difficult especially when you lose the love of your life as soon as you become a father.Â
I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone.
"Y/n?" I hear him call out and realize that my mind had drifted off for a second. "I'm sorry what did you say?" I say, my cheeks heating up from having been caught daydreaming. "I asked if you had any children of your own" he chuckles and I again try to figure out the best way to word this but figure the best way to go about it is to be honest.Â
I've got no reason to hide from him.
"No, I got divorced last year and my ex husband and I were never able to have children" I say, looking down at my lap, embarrassed to have admitted it but also feeling a certain weight lifted off my shoulders.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know" he trails off and I panic, realizing I might've made him feel uncomfortable, telling him something so personal so soon. "No don't be, I honestly dodged a bullet with that one" I chuckle, hoping to lighten the situation a bit which thankfully it does as I see his body relax a bit.
"Our relationship had been on the rocks soon after we got married and I don't think we were a good match for each other so I think it was the universe's way of doing me a favor in making us somewhat biologically incompatible" I chuckle and he softly does the same.
"Biologically incompatible" he questions, a deeper meaning obviously hidden behind those words. "We both got checked out and everything looked completely fine but I guess it wasn't meant to be, thank God" I sigh, sincerely thanking whoever might've been in charge of making that executive decision for us.
"I'm not exactly sure what to say to that but I'm glad it worked out?" he states almost as if it was a question and I laugh, in response hoping I can recover this incredibly awkward conversation. "I'm sorry, that was a huge overshare that I probably should've kept to myself" I say, clearing my throat in hopes it would aid in clearing the peculiar air that had settled between us.
"You have nothing to apologize for, I asked and I feel honored that you felt comfortable enough to be so transparent with your answer" he says, the warmth in his tone giving me an ache in my chest. How could someone be so kind to someone they've just met? It's as if I could tell him anything and he would listen to me as if I was the only person in the world.
"Daddy!" 'Well me and Juni', I say to myself and watch as his attention now shifts to his daughter who is running up behind me. "Daddy look!" Juni says, holding out her hands that are now thoroughly caked in mud but hold a rock that is almost a perfectly shaped heart in the center of her palm. "Oh Juni" Jungkook chuckles, the ends of her dress now matching the state of her hands and neither Jungkook nor I can hold in our laughter.
"That's a very beautiful rock Juni! You're so clever" I say and I can see a sense of pride straighten her posture a little bit. "Juni your beautiful dress" Jungkook chuckles, clearly not minding but also trying to figure out what to do. "I'm sorry Daddy" she say, that pride slowly dwindling after seeing the mess she's made of herself.
"Hey Juni" I say, turning her attention back to me and I can see her spirits lift a little. "Would you like to see some of the clothes that I used to wear when I was your age?" I ask and her eyes light up at the thought. "Did you wear pretty dresses too?" she asks, clearly excited about seeing more new things. Her childlike wonderment makes my heart ache. Must run in the family.
"I did, but none of them were as pretty as yours. If you like, you can borrow one of mine while we wash this one" I suggest and the way her head nods up and down so fast makes me chuckle.
"Let's go to my room then! Hopefully we can find something you'll like" I say, standing up and straightening my dress while Jungkook reaches out for Juni's foot.
"Let's take your shoes off before we go back inside baby. We wouldn't want to track any mud into the pretty lady's house right?" Jungkook says, flashing a soft smile at me before looking back down to complete his intended task and Juni complies right away.Â
My breath hitches as he purposefully uses the nickname Juni had given me and I quickly walk past them and open the door to go inside, trying to clear my head for a second, willing myself to keep it together. Â
"Are you coming with us?" Juni asks and he nods his head, "I gotta go clean your shoes off first though" he says and I walk all three of us over to the bathroom so Jungkook can do just that as well as wash Juni's hands off.
"Wow!" is the first word that comes out of her mouth when we walk into the butterfly themed bedroom, mesmerizing her from the first glance. "Your room is so pretty!" she says, quickly running around here and there, being careful not to get too close since we haven't gotten a chance to change her dress yet.
"You like it?" I question and she's quick to nod her head again. "I wish my room looked like this" she says, spying all of the little butterfly details from the dainty embroidering on the bedspread to the knobs on the dresser, all of them working in harmony.
"We can go look for some butterfly stuff next time we go to the store if you'd like" Jungkook says while he walks into the room and right up to her while she stares up at the ceiling where there are a couple scattered across it. Nothing is too over the top but there is clearly a theme going on that she is captivated by.
"Really?" she asks, confirmation of what he's said being important to make sure she's hear him right. "Promise" he says holding out his pinky that she quickly wraps her's around as best as she can with her little ones being so tiny in comparison to his. She looks at the two of us before beckoning Jungkook to come closer so she can whisper something in his ear.
"Can the pretty lady come with us too?" she 'whispers' in his ear almost as loud as her speaking voice and I try to hold back my laughter, pretending like I didn't hear a thing. "Why don't you ask her?" he whispers and when he leans back she looks him in the eyes and he nods to further encourage her.
"Um, would you like to go shopping with us to get butterflies for my room too?" she asks, walking up to me shyly. Jungkook looks at me with a soft smile and I notice how the tips of his ears have almost gotten a little pink, his expression soft and charming but his body still showing tell tale signs of nervousness.
"Sure Juni, I'd love to go shopping with you" I say and she giggles in response while running back to her Daddy. "Can we go right now?" she asks jumping up and down. "We'll go another time don't worry baby, we've gotta set up a time so the pretty lady can go with us too right?" he reminds her and although she's sad she has to wait she nods in agreement. "Good, now let's get you out of this so we can make you all nice and clean again" he says, unzipping the back of her dress and revealing the cute little white tank top and tights that she wore under it.
I focus my attention on opening up the closet and grabbing a couple of dresses out for her to choose from. "These ones should fit. Which one would you like to wear Juni?" I say and her eyes flitter back and forth between all of them before giving her a Daddy a devious smile and hugging them to her chest. "I want all of them" she giggles and my heart melts, thinking about how fun it would be if I had a daughter just like her.
"Pick one Juni" Jungkook chuckles and she pulls back flipping through the selection I've made before her eyes light up and find the one she's dying to wear. "This one, this one!" she says, lightly holding onto the skirt and jumping up and down. I shift my grasp on them and hold out the one she chose for Jungkook to take and once he does there a static jolt of electricity that shocks us leaving the both of us pulling away slightly.
"Sorry it's probably from all the fabric of the dresses" I explain and he smiles in response. "Don't worry about it. A little spark never hurt anyone" he says and it's almost as if his voice had dropped a bit with that remark, leaving me widening my eyes a bit before turning back around and placing the dresses back in the closet.Â
Why does he make me so nervous?
"Lady, lady look!" I hear from behind, and watch as Juni turns this way and that once Jungkook has finished putting the dress on her. "My goodness Juni don't you look adorable!" I say and she runs up to the the mirror in the corner of the room, watching the skirt swish this way and that. "Say thank you Ms y/n" Jungkook says, correcting Juni and finally telling her my name. She sounded too cute calling me 'the pretty lady' I just didn't have the heart to tell her otherwise.
"Thank you Ms y/n!" she says, running up to me and wrapping her arms around my legs since she is still too small to reach anywhere else. "You're welcome Juni" I say, smiling down at her and smoothing her hair down. "Remember Juni, we're just borrowing it so we can wash your dress. We have to give it back to Ms. y/n before we leave" Jungkook says and I can see her excitement dwindle a bit but is no less thankful for being able to wear it tonight.
"Thank you for letting me borrow it Ms. y/n!" she says and I smile again, falling more and more in love with this adorable little girl with every smile she graces me with. "You're welcome" I say and she lets go of me and twirls around in it before stopping.
"Oh! I promise to be really careful and keep this one clean" she says holding out her pinky to do just as she had done with her father moments ago and I kneel down to her level and do just that before booping her on the nose causing another fit of giggles to spill out of her.
"Y/n, dinner is ready" my mother says while poking her head around the corner and I can tell she is completely satisfied by the scene that she's walked in on. "Oh Juni what a beautiful dress!" my mother says, noticing it right away, remembering it was one of my favorites. "Ms y/n gave it to me!" she says, swishing around in it again before doing a full twirl for us.
"Well aren't you the most darling little girl I've ever seen! Are you ready to eat? I heard that mashed potatoes are one of your favorite foods right?" my mom says, holding out her hand for Juni to take and she gladly does.
"Did my grandma tell you that?" she asks, clearly surprised that this complete stranger already knew something about her. "Yes she did. I hope you like them!" my mom says and Juni rushes down the hallway dragging my mom behind her. "Juni be careful!" Jungkook calls out to her but my mom just laughs it off.
"Why don't you show Jungkook where the laundry room is so you can put her dress in the washer" my mom offers up and I nod my head and look up at him. "That's okay I can just wash it when we get home" he says, politely declining the offer. "It's alright, it's best to wash it right away so it doesn't stain" I say, holding out my hand for the dress and he smiles before handing it to me and following my lead.
"You have a lovely home" he says shyly, looking this way and that taking notice of the small details just as Juni did. 'Like father like daughter' I think to myself. "It was my childhood home as you could probably tell from my old room" I say and he hums in response as I stop at the door to the laundry room.
"I know Juni is never going to stop talking about it" he chuckles and I smile at the loving tone that is always present in his voice whenever he speaks about her. We stand there in silence for a bit while I gather the various cleaning products I'll need.
"If you like, I can show you how to get stains like this out? If there was ever a day when I was her age that I didn't get some sort of dirt, mud or grass stains on my clothes my mother would write that down as a national holiday" I say and he laughs at that before accepting the offer.
"Sure, I'd like that" for some reason I can't seem to find the right words so I simply turn around and rinse off the mud in the little sink we have in here. "Do you think you could get that one for me?" I ask, nodding toward one of the stain removers. He wordlessly does as I ask and helps apply a drop or two of it to each of the areas I point out.
"I could've done that" he says now realizing how he's just standing there watching me clean his daughter's dress. "No, that's okay I offered!" I say, reassuring him that I don't mind. I wordlessly ask for the next stain remover before rubbing it in and ringing out the excess water. He opens up the washer lid for me and I toss it in and look this way and that for the laundry detergent.
"Looking for this?" he asks, pulling it off the shelf above the washer. "See, that's a perk of living on my own now. I don't have to worry about things being up too high for me anymore" I chuckle and quickly scoop in the appropriate amount and start the washer.
"Well let me know if you ever need anyone to get something that's out of your reach, it's one of the perks of being tall" he jokes and I laugh but almost shy away from the fact that he expects to see me again. "So I've heard" I say and try to put the detergent back on my own but it soon tips back over and is close to crashing down until he catches it, which in turn ends with him trapping me between him and the washer.
He slides the detergent back in it's spot and takes half a step back, giving me the smallest bit of space. "Why didn't you let me help you? I was standing right here?" he asks, tilting his head at me. "I don't know, I guess I'm just used to doing things on my own now" I chuckle awkwardly. "Well hopefully you'll get used to letting me help you soon" he says, finally taking another step back and giving me a bit more space to breathe.
"Sorry about that" I apologize awkwardly, leaning my back against the washer now with him leaning up against the wall directly in front of me and giving me a crooked smile. "Don't apologize, there's nothing wrong with being independent" he says and quickly scans my body but he does it so fast that if I would've blinked I would've missed it.
"Daddy it's time for dinner" Juni says, her soft steps not having been heard by either of us over the sound of the washer, breaking us out of the little moment that we had been having. "Okay Juni we're coming" he chuckles and holds out his hand for her to take but she giggles and dodges it, reaching for mine instead.
I squeeze past Jungkook as this little room is only wide enough for one person to walk through and the front of our bodies brush up against each other only for a moment until she's tugged me halfway out the door. "Let's be a train Daddy! Grab onto Ms. y/n's hand so you can be the caboose!" she says, turning this trip down the hallway into a game.
"Oh that's okay sweetie why don't you-" he starts but I hold out my hand for him to take, him only having refused for my sake, not wanting to make me uncomfortable with any unwanted skinship. "Grab on Daddy!" Juni giggles and I look up at him and see that he's looking down at me. He chuckles before grabbing onto my hand and the both of us are soon trailing behind Juni as she drags us to the dining room.
Once we get to the dinner table Juni lets go of my hand and runs back to where Jungkook's mom is so she can continue to help her eat her mashed potatoes.Â
When everyone notices that Jungkook and I have arrived, we're greeted with four sets of eyes, all of them extremely happy to see us. It's then when I realize that we were still holding hands so I gently slide mine out of his, almost wishing I didn't have to.
He looks down at where our hands had been connected when I do and I can almost see that he's also disappointed that I let go but his expression is quickly replaced by an awkward smile aimed at our parents.Â
When I look at the table I see that Jungkook and I are meant to sit directly across from each other. Which I'm sure is another one of my mother's ploys to get us to keep glancing up at each other, this time though I don't really mind.
When I go to walk to one side to sit down next to Mr. Jeon, Jungkook follows right behind me.Â
"Oh did you want to sit on this side?" I ask him and he shakes his head, "No, I just wanted to pull your chair out for you" he says and I feel butterflies in my stomach. "Oh, okay" I say quietly and watch as he does just that and slides the chair in behind me once I've sat down. "Thank you" I reply, smiling up at him and he does so in return before rounding the table to take a seat in his place.
"So y/n, your mother told us that you work in photography, is that right?" she asks and I take a drink of water before responding. "Well not really, I've done a few freelance jobs here and there. Enough to keep me afloat so to say but I hope to do it full time soon!" I say and I see Jungkook perk up at that.
"Jungkook has always loved photography as well! He's always been tinkering away with cameras since he was just a few years older than Juni" his mother says while Jungkook cleans off Juni's face as it seems like she's gotten more food on her face than in her mouth.
"What subject do you usually shoot?" I ask, curious to see where his interests lie. "Mostly editorial, but I tend to enjoy the shoots a lot more when they have to do with nature. I believe beauty can be found in almost anything so I tend to just capture whatever inspires me at the moment" he says, his answer being very similar to mine.
"I feel the same way" I respond simply before shying away from the topic as I feel our parents are studying our interaction.
Once they notice the silence they decide to pick up the conversation just throwing facts about Jungkook and I back and forth, pretty much doing the getting to know you game for us without giving us much room to get a word in edgewise. Which leaves the both of us to just follow the conversation and occasionally making eye contact when either side makes a slightly embarrassing comment.
"Hey Dad" Jungkook calls out to his father over the never ending conversation they're having about us. "How's that new project at work going?" he says and I can already tell that it's one of those kinds of topics that once you get him started on it he won't stop and that's just the case as we now watch the conversation take a turn that is thankfully so far off from the two of us.
As time ticks by and the subjects change a few more times I notice that Jungkook has started to get up and clear the table to which I jump up in response to help him.
"Oh Jungkook don't worry about that I can do it later" my mother says but he shakes his head. "It's the least I could do after you've provided this wonderful dinner for my family and I" he says and I can almost see my mother swooning from his response. "Well thank you very much, sweetie can you show him where to place them, just next to the sink is fine" she says to me and I nod, looking up at him and nodding my head towards the direction of the kitchen.
Once we've gone there and back from the table a few times I decide to just start loading up the dishwasher, trying to escape that mortifying conversation for as long as I can. "I brought your glass for you. Wasn't sure if you were planning to finish it or not" he says, walking over and placing my wine glass on the counter next to me. "Thanks" I say quietly, neither of us having said a word to each other since the very beginning of that dinner.
"Your parents are really sweet" he says, breaking the ice and clearly acknowledging how obvious they all were about their motives. "Yours too. I'm sorry about tonight" I say and his brows furrow, clearly not understanding why I would need to apologize. "I knew my mom would end up doing something like this but once her mind is made up there's no stopping her" I admit and he gives me a crooked smile in response.
"Don't worry, I knew what all of them were up to too. My mother was praising you so much and telling me how beautiful and smart and respectful you are so I had an inkling that this was their plan all along" he says and I turn away from him, trying to hide my flustered expression.
"She's right you know" he says, coming around to stand next to me, leaning against the counter while I face it, cleaning up the inside of the sink and grabbing the towel next to me to dry my hands.
"Right about what?" I question, now turning to face him and noticing just how close he's gotten. "About how beautiful you are" he says and I have to blink a few times, trying to figure out why this incredibly handsome man in my kitchen is flirting with me.
I just wanna thank past me because whatever I did in my last life must've been incredible if I'm being offered up a man as remarkable as he is.
"I-" I start but am soon interrupted by my mom walking in on us. "Y/n could you- oh! I'm sorry, as you were" she says, taking small backward steps out of the kitchen, keeping hers eyes on the two of us before turning around to walk back to the living room that they had moved to.
"I'm sorry about her" I say, taking a drink of my wine but he laughs it off. "It's alright, I don't mind" he says watching me with curious eyes as I polish off the rest of it. "Juni has taken a real liking to you" he says and my heart melts at the sound of her name.
"Really? She's probably the happiest child I've ever seen. I really like her too" I say and he smiles, no doubts memories over the years flashing through his head.
"You've done a really good job raising her Jungkook" I say, and his eyes flutter back to mine, this time being the first time I've spoken his name and it looks as if just that alone brought him so much satisfaction. "Thank you y/n" he says, and I feel my heart flutter, the deep baritone of his voice sending a shiver down my spine.
"Daddy can I have some cake?" we hear as Juni walks into the kitchen, "Can I have some cake..." Jungkook says, trailing off and waiting for those magic words. "Please?" she says, realizing what he had been getting at.
"Sure baby, Ms. y/n and I will bring it out in a second okay?" he says making her smile as she runs out of the kitchen "Thank you" she calls out over her shoulder leaving the two of us laughing at her enthusiasm.
"That's probably what my mom was coming in to ask us for" I say and he nods in agreement, helping me carry everything out so we can all have a slice of the small cake my mom had gotten for tonight. "How much you want to bet that they sent Juni looking for us earlier too?" he whispers to me as we make our way over to where everyone else has gathered. "You might be right about that one" I whisper back, quickly catching onto all of their little games.
After setting the cake and all of the plates and forks down on the coffee table my mom takes on the task of cutting it up and serving it, with the very first piece going to little Miss Juni. "Thank you!" she says, eyes wide as saucers leaving all of us cooing at her. "Eat slow Juni" Jungkook reminds her, no doubt having troubles with her eating her desserts too quickly.
I take on the task of helping my mother hand out the slices and once I give one to Jungkook I finally notice that the only empty seat is right next to him and he looks down at it before looking back up at me in a silent invitation to sit down and I take it cautiously.
The couch that we're sitting on is kind of a love seat ironically, seeing as the whole theme of tonight is trying to set us up with each other.
Once I've sat down I realize that I've sat right next to him to the point of where my shoulder ended up bumping into his. "Oh! I'm sorry" I say, scooting away from him but with the size of the couch I don't really end up moving all that much. "It's okay I don't mind" he says, before taking a bite of his cake and turning to face the rest of the group.
The seven of us continue talking and talking until we notice that Juni has fallen asleep in her grandma's lap. "Here mom let me take her" Jungkook says, standing up but both my mom and his stand up and wave him off. "That's okay, we're just gonna go put her down in y/n's room" my mom says and before he's able to say otherwise they've disappeared down the hallway.
"Does she have school tomorrow?" I ask once he's settled back down. "No, she's on spring break right now until next Monday" he relays and I nod my head. "And what about you? Do you work tomorrow?" I ask and he gives me a shy smile before responding. "I had a shoot scheduled in the morning but we went ahead and pushed it to the afternoon so I don't have to worry about going home anytime soon" he says and my heart skips a beat.
"No, I mean, well I don't want to keep you for too long. You probably have other things you'd like to get done tonight?" I ask and he shakes his head. "No, this is the only thing I have planned for the night so I guess you're stuck with me" he chuckles. "I didn't mean to make you feel like I wanted you to leave I just-"
"It's okay I know what you meant" he laughs and I now take notice that we're the only ones left in the room. "Oh! Where did my dad go?" I ask, my eyes darting this way and that, not even being able to hear his voice.
"I think I heard something about them setting up the fire pit? I'm not sure but he's outside with my dad right now" he says and I spy both of them looking through the glass door before quickly ducking out of view once they realize they've been spotted.
"Maybe we should head out there" I say but he cuts off that thought by asking me a question that keeps me frozen on the spot.Â
"Is there a reason why you don't want to be alone with me?" he asks, arm now having been draped around the back of the couch a while ago, completely unknown to me making this all seem a lot more intimate than before.
"Who said that?" I chuckle nervously, clearing my throat before sinking back into my seat. "You just did" he says, nodding towards me and I feel like I want to crawl in a hole and die. I thought I could escape this night without being awkward like this but I guess not.
"You trying to get rid of me?" he teases and I shake my head right away, "No I'm sorry I just-" "It's okay, I'm only joking" he says and I laugh nervously. "So why don't you tell me about yourself?" he says, giving me the most open ended question ever and I scramble to find something but I just can't seem to come up with anything interesting enough to mention.
"Well, my parents pretty much said everything there is to know about me over dinner earlier" I say and he shakes his head. "I want to hear something about you from you. Like what are some of your hope, your dreams, something you're passionate about" he says, being a little more specific this time.
"My dreams?" I trail off, thinking for a second and he watches me as I wrack my brain for something notable. "It's kind of silly" I admit once I've settled on something. "Good thing I've got a sense of humor" he replies, trying to encourage me to continue.Â
"Well, I've always wanted one of my photos to be on the cover of TIME magazine" I admit and see his eyes light up. "I have a similar dream" he says and my eyes widen in surprise turning my body to face him, wordlessly asking him to share his too.Â
"I'd like one of mine to end up on the cover of National Geographic" he relays and I smile in turn. "That would be perfect for you! Well, since the subject you love to capture the most is nature I could definitely see your work fitting right in!" I say, excited to see someone else who's trying to aim as high as I am.
"And I could see yours being a shoe in for TIME as well" he says, and I shy away from his praise. "Okay and what's something you're passionate about, and don't say photography" he says, interrupting me causing me to slump down, having to take another second to come up with an answer.Â
He chuckles a bit at my reaction and I glare at him causing him to smile at me even more so look up to the celling as if it had the answers to something interesting about me.Â
"Well, I really love reading. I know it might not seem like a passion but when I read a really good book and I find someone who has read it or will at least let me talk about it it's as if I gain a boost of energy and can't contain my excitement. That's definitely the nerdy side of me showing but that's all I can really think of at the moment" I say honestly and when I look back at him it's as if he thought I was the most fascinating thing he's ever seen.Â
"Sorry, I think I got a little carried away there" I say, getting shy from being looked at like that, his soft gaze an expression I'm not used to, especially from someone I just met. "Um, your turn" I say, hoping to get some of the spotlight off of me.Â
"I know this might be cheating but I do enjoy taking video and editing them. Even if it were as simple as filming Juni for an afternoon, it's something that if given the chance, would be something I could be extremely passionate about" he says and although it is cheating since it's somewhat similar to photography, I'll let it slide.Â
"Have you thought about switching up your profession to include video as well as pictures?" I ask and he nods before answering. "I have but I haven't taken enough time to seriously consider it. Juni is still young and I want to make sure I have a stable income in order to take care of her and if I'm being honest I feel almost as if a career change could jeopardize that" he says and I watch him with the same intent that he had given me and he too seems to shy away from it.Â
"It's silly since it would probably be a seamless transition but I can't help but feel reservations towards it" he says and I place my hand on top of his that's in his lap.Â
"It's normal for a parent to worry about providing for their child. I don't think it's silly at all and it shows how much you truly care about Juni and her well being. She's lucky to have you as her father" I say and he cringes only for a moment before his expression goes back to a softer one. I want to ask what would've warranted a reaction like that but I leave it alone.Â
"Okay your turn, what is something you hope for?" he asks and I already know the answer to it but I'm hesitant to say. I take a second to try and figure out how to formulate it properly but decide to just go for it.Â
"I hope to be a mother and have children of my own someday. Doesn't matter if it's naturally or through adoption, I just hope to have someone I can love and care for unconditionally and watch them as they grow and change and pray I'll receive that love and care back from them" I say and he gives me a wary expression and I quickly try to backtrack, not knowing if I've messed up or not.Â
"I'm sorry that was probably extremely insensitive of me" I say, pulling away my hand but he holds onto it and gives me a sad smile before responding. "I think you would be a wonderful mother. If you were to give your children even half the time and attention you've given to Juni today they would still be incredibly lucky to call you their mother" he says, reassuring me that it's okay to talk about these topics around him.Â
"Last one?" I question, seeing if he's up to telling me something he's hopeful for. "I just hope that no matter what my family and friends stay happy and healthy. It might be simple but I enjoy the simple things in life" he says and I smile, seeing how truly kind and compassionate he is just from his simple answer. "That's a good answer" I say and we both chuckle a bit before we're broken out of yet again another moment by the sound of our mothers stumbling into the room.Â
"Oh don't let us bother you we're just going to head outside with your father" Jungkook's mom says to him and I can see now from the warm glow shining through the glass door that they've finally started up the fire pit.Â
"Oh we'll come outside too!" I say and try to get up off the loveseat. I'm able to stand but immediately lose my balance and feel a strong set of hands on my hips and end up falling into Jungkook's lap. "I-" I start, turning towards him and trying to get out an apology but stop short when I see how close his face is to mine, our noses almost touching.Â
I hear our mothers head outside quickly and close the door but neither of us pay any mind, both focused on each other to the point where neither of us move for what feels like forever but was only a matter of seconds. When I do try to get up I feel his grip on me tighten.Â
"I'm s-sorry, this couch is always difficult to get off of" I explain and he smiles. "Like I said before, you have nothing to apologize for" he says, his voice a bit deeper than before and it takes every fiber of my being to stop myself from looking at his lips but when I see his flutter down to mine I can't help but do the same.Â
"Daddy, why is Ms. y/n sitting on your lap?" we hear Juni say and I immediately get off of him and throw my face in my hands, trying to hide the embarrassment written all over me but Jungkook handles it like a champ.Â
"Ms. y/n just fell down Juni and I caught her. You know how I catch you sometimes before you fall?" he offers and she walks over to us, rubbing her eyes and immediately climbing onto Jungkook's lap. "Oh okay" she says, yawning again after Jungkook places a kiss on the crown of her head.Â
"Do you wanna go see the fire that grandpa and Ms. y/n's dad made?" he asks and she hums in approval, still half asleep but wanting to go outside with everyone. "Okay let's go" he says, standing up with Juni in one arm and holding his hand out to help me up. I glare up at him and he smiles, knowing he's added to my embarrassment but I take his hand anyways and he makes no moves to let go once I'm up on my feet, walking us all towards the back door.Â
Once we're outside though that's when he lets go so he can hold Juni properly while he walks down the patio steps so we can get to the fire pit.Â
"Juni woke up?" his mother asks and Jungkook nods. "Yeah she wanted to come outside with everyone even though she is still very very sleepy" he says, talking in a silly sweet voice that makes Juni pout although her eyes are still closed. "I'm not sleepy" she says mid yawn causing me to coo at her and when she realizes I'm still close by she sits up off of Jungkook's chest and reaches towards me.Â
I look between her and Jungkook for a second and he nods his head in approval and hands her to me, grabbing a chair afterwards for me to sit on and pulling up another one next to mine and looks over at Juni to see she's practically sound asleep again. "Are you okay with her?" he asks and I hum in approval leaving him placing another kiss on Juni's head before leaning back in his chair.Â
"So Jungkook, what do you think of my daughter?" my mother asks and Jungkook chokes on air, not expecting the straightforward question. "Mom!" I scold and she chuckles, "What? It's a simple question. No need to give a complex answer, unless he wants to" she teases and I swear I can even hear Jungkook's dad chuckling at my mother's antics.Â
They couldn't make it more obvious that they're trying to set us up even if they tried.Â
My dad luckily somewhat comes to Jungkook's aide and hands him a bottle of water to hopefully help him stop coughing which it does thankfully.
He takes a second to clear his throat and I would be lying if I said I wasn't on edge, waiting to hear what his answer might be. "I think she is a very kind hearted and very intelligent young woman" he says simply and the echos of him calling me beautiful earlier on tonight attach to the end of that.Â
"And would you like to see her again?" she continues and he then looks over at me, giving me a soft smile and glancing down at Juni before looking me in the eyes again. "We've already planned to see each other again" he says, memories of Juni's invitation to the butterfly shopping trip fluttering through my mind again.Â
"Did you hear that? Jungkook has already asked to see her again" my mom says, calling over to Jungkook's mom as if she hadn't been listening the whole time. "Well technically Juni asked if I could go shopping with them" I explain and Jungkook chuckles. "Juni is a very smart girl" my mother compliments and Jungkook and I can't help but laugh.Â
The rest of the night flies by and before I know it we're already standing in the doorway saying goodbye. "It's was so nice seeing you again y/n! I hope to be seeing you again soon" Jungkook mom says, winking at me. "Oh come on honey leave the girl alone" Jungkook's dad says, coming to my aide and saying his goodbyes as well.Â
Jungkook's parents say a quick goodbye to Jungkook and Juni as well since they came in separate cars and I notice after that my dad pulls Jungkook aside and says something that I regretfully can't make out. Luckily he doesn't seem bothered by it as they smile and shake hands before my dad pats him on the back, sending him off with I can only assume is well wishes.Â
Jungkook says goodbye to my mother and I can tell how much she's praising him, he thanks her for everything and makes his way over to me a few moments later and it's almost as if it was a ghost town with only Jungkook and I in the entryway now, with him holding a still very sleepy Juni in his arms.Â
"Thank you for coming, I know this was probably a lot for you" I say, rocking back and forth on my heels and he smiles before answering. "I had fun, and I know Juni did too" he says and I can feel my heart skip a beat, "I did too" I reply shyly. He reaches into his pocket and unlocks his phone before handing it to me.
"Do you think I could have your number? You know, so we can set up that shopping day soon? I know Juni won't be able to stop talking about it until we go" he says, turning into what I could only describe as a shy teenage boy, asking his crush for her number. "Sure" I say, putting it in and calling my number so I have his too.Â
"Let me know when you get home safe" I say and place my hand on Juni's back and whisper a quick goodbye which regrettably stirs her awake and I mouth a quite sorry to Jungkook but he smiles in response.Â
"Wanna say goodbye to Ms. y/n?" Jungkook asks and she nods her head before opening her eyes and leaning towards me to give me a kiss on the cheek leaving me speechless. "Goodnight pretty lady" she mumbles before laying back down on Jungkook's chest. He chuckles after seeing my reaction and gives Juni a kiss on her head in response.Â
"Goodnight y/n" he whispers to me and I send him the same sentiment, walking him to the door and watching as he walks over to his car while he puts Juni in her carseat. He looks back to see if I'm still watching and smiles at me again before getting in his car and driving off.Â
"So should I schedule an appointment with the caterers tomorrow or...?" I hear my mother say behind me, making me jump before taking a few steps back into the house and closing the door. "Very funny mom" I say, walking over to the living room and plopping down on the couch Jungkook and I had been sharing a couple hours ago.Â
"What's wrong? He's a nice man isn't he? Plus his daughter seems like she loves you! Why don't you give it a shot?" she asks and I sigh, sinking further back into the couch. "I don't know, I just don't want to get my hopes up" I mumble and she sits next to me, placing a comforting hand on my thigh. "What makes you say that?" she asks curiously.
"It's almost as if he's too perfect. He's handsome, charming, charismatic, a great dad and I don't know, he just seems too good to be true" I admit and she nods her head, understanding my hesitation. "Everyone puts their best foot forward when they're meeting someone for the first time. Just go out with him and Juni in a few days and keep an open mind. It's not the fact that he has Juni that's holding you back right?" she questions, trying to figure out what exactly has got me doubting.Â
"No not at all! If anything Juni is an added bonus" I say truthfully and she smiles at me. "Good, because I think she's already become very attached to you" she says and I nod my head. "Yeah I think I have too" I mumble and she claps her hands, jolting me out of my train of thought.Â
"Now all we have to do is get a ring attached to that finger and the three of you can live happily ever after" she says, getting up to clean up the cake plates that sit on the coffee table in front of us.Â
"Mom" I groan and she laughs, "I want some beautiful grandchildren and if that handsome young man can't help you give them to me then I don't know who could" she continues leaving me sighing, not bothering to argue back since she is definitely right about that one.Â
I hear my phone chime in my purse moments later after I walk into my bedroom to gather up my things to go back home and see a message from an unknown number but check my call log and see that the numbers match up from when I called myself off Jungkook's phone.Â
I quickly add him to my contacts before opening up our chat and see a short but sweet message from him.Â
'Home safe and sound. Thanks for having us tonight. Hope to see you soon?'Â he sends with a question mark at the end, clearly still wanting to double check on if I'll actually want to see them again. I wait a few seconds, my thumbs hovering over the keyboard before finally composing a message and hitting send before I chicken out.Â
'See you soon Jungkook. I really enjoyed getting to know you and Juni. Looking forward to shopping for butterflies together!'Â I say and cringe once I reread it. 'Ugh could I possibly sound more desperate?' I say to myself and toss my phone on the bed, sitting down at the computer chair across from it.Â
A minute later I hear another message come in and I practically lunge for the phone, praying I didn't weird him out but moments later I feel heat rushing to my cheeks and have to will myself into not squealing.
'We're counting down the minutes until we can see you again. Let's talk tomorrow and set up a date and time'Â he says and I rush to respond.Â
'Sounds great! Goodnight Jungkook'Â I say, ending the conversation before I end up embarrassing myself even more but before I can even lock my phone his message pops up.Â
'Goodnight y/n, sweet dreams'Â the message is so simple but it still makes me smile.Â
"Is that Jungkook texting you?" my mom asks, poking her head into the room and I quickly lock my phone and grab my purse. "Yes it is, goodnight mom" I say, walking past her and straight to the front door with her trailing after me. "Oh come on sweetie you know I'm just teasing you. I really think he's going to be a good match for you" she says and I turn to face her before I leave.Â
"I really hope so. Say goodnight to dad for me" I say giving her a kiss on the cheek and getting in my car to drive home.Â
~~~~
Once I walk in I'm greeted again by Salem and he walks up, waiting for me to pick him up. "You're such a little baby you know that?" I chuckle and he meows in response.Â
I follow the same routine as I always do, carrying him with me into my room and rambling off to him about my day before hopping in the shower but this time I have a lot more to say, leaving me wasting half the hot water and causing me to have to finish up the last bit of my shower in a freezing cold stream.Â
After finishing up and finally settling into bed I lay down and Salem curls up next to me. "Things might be changing around here boy. I only hope they're for the better, what do you think?" I ask after having told him everything and I'm met with the feeling of him purring and if that isn't a good sign then I don't know what is.Â
"I hope he likes cats" I say, giving him one last pet before turning off the light and for the first time in a very long time I can finally say I've gone to sleep feeling content. The last thought that runs through my head is one that helps me fall asleep with a soft smile on my face.Â
I can't wait to see him again...
summary: when Malleus receives an invite from a distant relative to a historic castle in Briar Valley, he can't refuse characters: malleus, lilia, sebek, silver, vil, rook, epel, jamil, kalim additional info: reader is gender neutral, reader is yuu
well... by popular demand, here's more of this! I may rework the first one in the future idk. and add a prologue. coughs
prologue / chapter one / chapter two
taglist: @whatever-fanfics @chloemari-e @frog-fans-unite @sugar-sprinkles
Diasomnia Lounge - Day
"Are you sure about this?"
Lilia pats Silver's head and floats over to Malleus, taking steps over the air like he would on solid ground.
"If I may remind you, I looked after the young prince long before you two were around. One weekend is but the blink of an eye!" the elder fae says. "Someone needs to stay behind and oversee the dorm's Halloween preparations, anyhow."
Sebek shifts uncomfortably. Silver sighs.
"...You're right. I just... I have a bad feeling about this,"
Lilia grins, his fangs pressing into his lower lip. "Khee hee. How chivalrous of you, Silver. But I assure you, with both myself and Malleus, there's little that could stand against us... should the occasion arise. You know that."
Another sigh. "...I do. I just suppose I would feel better if it wasn't only the two of you,"
"He makes a point," Malleus says, closing a suitcase. "The invitation did specify I may bring along an entourage of my choosing."
"That's not really what I-"
"Now there's an idea!" Lilia chimes. "A weekend getaway with friends. Malleus, is there anyone you'd like to bring along?"
Malleus holds his chin between his fingers and thinks.
Then, he smiles.
Ramshackle - Day
"Me?"
"Us?" Grim says, giving Malleus an unamused look, paws on his hips.
Malleus nods, a proud smile on him. Lilia stands behind him, leafing through an ancient leatherbound book as if it were a travel guide.
"Yes. I am permitted to invite any guest of my choosing, and I choose you," Malleus says.
"And, in return, you may invite any of your own friends."
You think for a moment, standing in Ramshackle's door, Grim tugging on your sleeve and whining for breakfast.
"...What do you think?" you ask the direbeast at your feet.
He sighs. "Will there be food?"
"The invitation does specify good food, yes. I imagine there will be a banquet waiting for us upon our arrival," Lilia chimes in.
Grim's pout turns into a grin, his tune changing completely. "Why didn't 'ya say so? We're in,"
Malleus beams as you scoop Grim up in your arms. But who else to invite...?
Heartslabyul Lounge - Day
"Nah, we're on Halloween duty. Housewarden's orders,"
Ace smacks Deuce upside the head and whispers loudly in his ear: "Dude! They didn't need to know that!"
You look between the two of them as they bicker. Trey passes behind them, carrying a stack of dirty dishes. He smiles.
"Sorry, Prefect, but Deuce is right. They royally failed Trein's last exam and Riddle is keeping them on dish duty as punishment. And speaking of-"
He dumps the dishes in Ace's arms, the weight of the stack nearly toppling him over.
"-And there are more in the kitchen."
Savanaclaw Lounge
Jack scratches the side of his head. "I'd, uh... I'd love to, but Leona's got us all doing extra Spelldrive practice, so..."
"Bring us back some souvenirs and food, will ya?" Ruggie calls from behind you.
Ignihyde Hall
"A Halloween trip? How exciting!" Ortho chimes. "The search I just performed shows only thirty five results for a remote county of Briar Valley- this may be an excellent exercise in data gathering!"
You and Grim exchange smiles.
"So you'll come?" the direbeast says.
"Sure!
...If Idy comes!"
Both of your grins immediately fall. Before any of you can get another word in, Idia's voice comes from within the depths of the room behind you.
"Uh- what? Nuh-uh. No way. No internet for a weekend? No way,"
Ortho gives you both a sympathetic look. "Sorry, guys. Maybe next time,"
Pomefiore Lounge
Epel looks between the two of you, his hands on his hips and his eyelids lowered.
"Busy?" he repeats the word dryly. "Busy."
You shrug. "Everyone's busy. It is Halloween weekend,"
"And it might not've occurred to 'ya that they're not so busy as much as they don't wanna go to a remote, secluded part 'a Briar Valley with Malleus Draconia?"
You and Grim share a look. Oh.
"Well..." you look back at Epel. "Do you wanna come?"
"What kinda question is that?!"
You feel something gently brush against your side, and then a cool, collected voice.
"Excuse m- oh, Prefect. What are you doing here?" Jamil asks, breezing into the room.
"We were just 'talkin," Epel mutters. "You-"
"Kalim left his wallet here yesterday," Jamil sighs. "He's lucky it was this dorm. Does Vil keep a place for lost items?"
"Just down there,"
"Thank you," he says, and disappears down the hall.
You turn back to Epel. "Are you sure you don't want to come? I'm allowed to bring anyone I want."
He shakes his head. "Even if I wanted to, Vil would never allow me to go unchaperoned,"
"Unchaperoned?" a voice says from behind you.
Both you and Epel jump, and Grim skitters away in surprise. Lilia's light laughter follows, and he rests an elbow on Epel's shoulder.
"Khee hee. My apologies, I couldn't help myself. Now what's this about Schoenheit thinking you'd be "unchaperoned"?"
Epel huffs, still flustered from the surprise, and Grim pathetically crawls back to you, his fur bristled.
"I just don't think he'd be keen on letting me off on vacation for a weekend with no one 'ta look after me,"
"Did the Prefect not specify that I will be "chaperoning" this trip?"
"They did," he puts his hands back on his hips. "Vil wouldn't trust 'ya with watching a sack 'a flour for a weekend."
"I don't blame him," Jamil says, returning with a wallet in hand.
"Khee hee. How cruel. I'll have you know I'm an excellent babysitter,"
You look between the three as they go back and forth. This is getting you nowhere.
Epel crosses his arms. "What's the deal with this place, anyway?"
"The deal?" Lilia repeats, hands on his hips. "Is the promise of a weekend at an ancient castle with no internet, electricity, running water, or heat not exciting enough for you?"
Epel stares blankly.
"...Khee hee. Fair enough. The deal, my dear underclassmen, is that this castle is related to a popular children's bedtime story from Briar Valley, one of the only to feature magicless human heroes."
You turn to look at him, your own interest suddenly piqued. "What?"
Lilia looks back at you with a fanged grin, and then he makes himself comfortable on one of the fancy couches in the lounge.
"Gather round, gather round, children. This is an old story, an ancient story, which predates the Thorn Fairy herself by hundreds of years...
Long, long ago, in the land of Cymur, now a small county in Briar Valley, there was a king. He was a distant relative of the Thorn Fairy, but you wouldn't have known- he was greedy and cruel, and sought to conquer the land with an army of the undead. His reign was ended, however, by three unlikely heroes: a farmhand who became a great warrior, a scullery maid who became a powerful mage, and an unlucky minstrel who became a beloved poet. And their fuzzy, hungry direbeast companion, of course,"
A silence follows. Though not one of you would have admitted it, you had all become rather captivated by the story. Everyone waits for Lilia to continue. He hums and picks at his black nail polish.
"...Well?" Jamil finally speaks, arms crossed tightly over his chest.
"Well what?"
"Whaddya mean well, what?" Epel says. "You aren't gonna tell us the rest? How did the farmhand become a warrior?"
"And how does a scullery maid become a powerful mage?" Jamil follows.
"And whaddabout the direbeast?" Grim tugs at Lilia's loose sleeve. "I bet he saved the day, didn't he?"
Lilia's lips quirk into a smile, and he crosses his legs.
"Hmm... it appears I can't recall. I suppose you'll just have to find out on the trip,"
Everyone lets out a collective groan, and Lilia giggles into the palm of his petite hand.
Epel jumps to his feet, a frown on his lips. "Vil will never let me go, 'ya know that? Never!"
"Please, no shouting in the lounge. We've discussed this," a cold voice comes from behind him.
Epel goes pale and stiff, not unlike a corpse, and Vil rolls his eyes.
"Might I inquire what this little gathering is about? I can't seem to recall giving permission to hold club meetings in my lounge."
Lilia waves him off, unflinching under his cold glare. "Oh, just chitchat about our trip,"
"Your trip?"
Epel turns to Lilia with wide eyes, shaking his head quickly, but Lilia goes on anyway.
"Why, of course! Prince Malleus has invited Epel to join him on an educational trip to Briar Valley!"
Vil raises an eyebrow. "Malleus invited him? Personally?"
You open your mouth to speak, but can't get further than a quiet "Not exac-" before Lilia confirms.
"Hmph," Vil says, shifting his weight from one hip to another. "I see. Well, if the Housewarden invited you, it would be rude to decline."
Epel lights up as if he had just won a golden ticket, and then-
"Of course, Rook will have to accompany you. I wouldn't dream of sending you without proper supervision,"
"Wh- Rook?"
"Bonsoir!" Rook chimes behind all of you, as if summoned by the mere sound of his name. You and Epel flinch. Vil rolls his eyes.
"Yes. I'm far too busy with the event preparations to go myself... I also do not want to. Rook, however-"
"It would be my honor and privilege to discover the hidden beauties of a mysterious and isolated land with my own hands and eyes!"
Epel goes whiter than the delicate lace of his blouse.
"It's settled, then. We're leaving midday tomorrow, don't be late!" Lilia says, hopping up. "And Jamil, shall we be expecting you?"
The second year scoffs, as if uninterested, though he had sat through the entire story and ensuing discussion without moving from his place against the wall.
"No. I have to see to Kalim's relatives over the weekend. I won't have a moment to spare,"
"How unfortunate," Lilia sighs. "But I suppose our little Pom Duo will please Malleus enough."
Rook cheers a faint yay! and Epel groans.
Mirror Chamber - Morning
"Ready, all?"
You hold your small suitcase close to your side, tucked neatly under your arm. Mirror travel is short but rough at such distances. "I am,"
"Oui!'
"As I'll ever be,"
"Certainly," Malleus nods. "I've been looking forward to this all night. I could hardly sleep."
Calm and collected as he is, his excitement is unmistakable- at least for Lilia, who smiles.
"Alright! We'll go as far as we can by mirror, and the rest by carriage and foot, so make sure you have water and snacks,"
"Worry not, Monsieur Curiosité!" Rook chimes. "I have brought more than enough nuts and seeds for everyone!"
Epel mutters "Vil's diet snacks" to you, and you nod.
"Khee hee, I should have expected as much from Pomefiore's vicewarden. Then we're off-"
"Wait!"
Everyone turns to the mouth of the chamber. The sound of hurried footsteps on stone comes before a panting Jamil Viper, suitcase in hand.
Lilia grins. "Changed your mind?"
Jamil answers that with a glare.
"Someone told Kalim of the trip, and he ordered me to take the weekend off. Of all the ridiculous things..."
"Khee hee. Isn't that unfortunate?"
Another glare. "At least his family's security will be around. I only worry for the state of the dorm after he hosts them for the weekend..."
"Oh, I'm sure it'll be fine. Kalim's a bright boy!" Lilia says. Malleus gives him an odd look, but doesn't comment.
"Now that we're all accounted for- shall we?"
so today i tricked my very straight male friend into reading svsss.
okay look, i wasn't planning to at first and it's not like it was completely my fault. he wanted to read it!
i was showing him how badly they fucked up mu qingfang in the donghua by comparing it to the english novel design (he said that mu qingfang went from looking like a soft dilf to a predator registered on the epstein island list). and then, i showed him how different some of the other character designs were like gongyi xiao's ("he looks like he'd be a genshin character" -friend, to eng novel design) and luo binghe's ("lowkey, he kinda gives airbender vibes" -friend, to bunhe eng novel design)
so that was all i was gonna show him, nothing else. but after seeing them, he goes, "these designs actually look hella cool. what's the book called?"
now, do i:
A. tell him the name, eventually revealing that it's a danmei when he looks it up?
B. just straight up tell him that it's a danmei?
C: don't tell him the name just yet, spill the summary, get him interested, and tell him to not search anything up about it because there's heavy spoilers and it will reveal them the moment he types it up on the search bar
i go with C, obviously.
me: so, basically, some guy named shen yuan transmigrates into an incel harem male power fantasy novel where the protagonist, luo binghe, has hundreds of wives. thing is though, the guy pretty much took over the body of binghe's teacher he had when he was a teenager, who turns out to be a really scummy dude. and now he has to be nice to him so that the protagonist doesn't rip off his limbs and put him into a pickle pot in the future to suffer for eternity.
friend: that sounds hilarious and horrifying at the same time.
me: yes it is, and you should read it. it's like. my favorite novel at the moment. but don't search up anything about it because people spoil that shit. i'll let you borrow my novel
friend: nah don't worry, i'll just pirate it
friend: wait. does it have pictures?
me, my plan coming together: yeah, it has pictures. buuut, when you pirate it, it doesn't. trust me dude, i tried and was severely disappointed. plus, the physical copy is so much better
friend: fuck yeah ok thanks
me: hold on though. i'll text you later to see if my friend who's borrowing it rn is done reading it
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f7088aa019f29ae120b6250df722cd39/d20af7c8fda8b59d-b9/s540x810/aa81857ab5a442f46cae0c8442d4dcbe77a88b11.jpg)
he's hyped. he's excited. he craves a good book and a good transmigration interpretation. he's especially happy about the fact that it takes place in a chinese setting with cool powers and an actual good main character. "this sounds so good, god i wanna read it so bad."
i tell him that binghe is actually adorable, too. that it's pretty much found family! my friend then asks if shen yuan adopts him and becomes a father figure or something.
and i said "yes". you know, like a liar. (the father figure part probably isn't a lie though)
now i'm gonna give him the novel tomorrow! of course, i'm gonna cover the chapter 2 bunhe sexual awakening scene with washi tape and say that my baby cousin (sorry baby cousin, you would never <\3) scribbled all over that paragraph with her markers, and since i'm a neat book freak, i put washi tape and just wrote the scene! i don't know if that's really all too believable, but he didn't seem to care that much. just a simple "if my baby cousin did that to my book i would punt them into the sun"
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/532c9b88f4493d2e0374db23366d0cff/d20af7c8fda8b59d-ed/s540x810/02101ee498146fe58971b7e05db2676089e0d243.jpg)
i think what'll be more hilarious is the fact that you can't really tell that svsss is a BL. especially not volume 1. there's like, only a few lines indicating, but if you remove the baby binghe sexual awakening scene then you probably won't be able to know (...if you don't really read romance or anything. idk he's kinda dense anyways). so let's hope he gets attached and has a slow descent into the homo before i drop svsss vol 2 on him!
ok anyways i'll update you guys later with a reblog. maybe in about two or three days lol
(also don't worry, we already fuck around with each other on a daily basis like this. he's already tricked me into reading some manga i was unprepared for, and i thought that it'd be funny to mess around with him using svsss this time lol)
#greatest prank ive ever donee i think#manipulation 100 fr#absolute tomfoolery#am i a bad friend for this? perhaps. is it hilarious? definitely.#this is truly the most moment of all time#svsss#mxtx svsss#the scum villain's self saving system#luo binghe#luo bingmei#shen qingqiu#shen yuan
One by One 6/7 (final chapter part a)
PRELUDE
You were snooping around Loki's stuff to find his chest full of sex toys. He was not very pleased about it and has decided to punish you by using all his toys on you, one by one...
based on this imagine |
MINORS DNI
NO PROOF READING
You were waiting. And all you did was to wait for Loki, but Saturday did not come, and neither did you..(XD). Loki was pulled into a mission, and it just kept getting extended week after week. You worked for Tony and occasionally for SHIELD, you hated Hydra, but this time the hate was personal.Â
Those damned creatures kept Loki away from you, kept you from his glorious dick, how dare they!
Private Number : Prepare yourself, I wonât be stopping this time, little pet. -L
You knew exactly who this was, your heart started beating fast receiving his text like this, was the wait over? Although you decided to tease him a little bit.
You : who dis?Private Number : You are asking for trouble y/n, you know perfectly well âwho disâ is.You : idk, itâs been so long, i might have forgotten Private Number : I see, perhaps my little dove needs a thorough reminding.
Him addressing you as âhisâ little dove made your heart soar. You have been working with him for so long, but didnât realize that he even saw you as a friend let alone âhisâ. This was a conversation for future you. Much much later in the future, after you get a ride on his glorious, beautiful cock, mmm, definitely after that. Your thighs rubbed against each other, you would definitely not mind Loki âremindingâ you. Though you didnât know how much of anything you would retain once he started to fuck you.
You : When will u be back??Loki : Eager are we?
You imagined he must be chuckling lightly at your desperation.
Loki : Soon enough dove. And until then, you will save your sweet nectar for me and only me. Not even your own fingers should have a taste of what is mine!
Oh god, you were already desperate for him, using your own fingers to mimic his, trusting you silicon friend more often than not, and he wanted you to wait?
You : đđLoki : Are you that happy?You : Wats there to be happy abt? U r being unfair.
You waited for him to say something but figured he was busy or maybe he didnât deem this important enough to discuss. His word was final, he was letting you torture yourself, make you wait. You receive occasional texts from him, which did not help at all.
Loki : I am having the finest chocolate and I still want you on my tongue.Loki : Darling, do you know the traffic light system?You : ???Loki : Hmm, I suggest you look into it...
??? Seriously, what was this man thinking? You were now concerned for your safety. But the idea of Loki going feral on you turned you on more than it scared you. An inner voice told you that you should probably seek help, but, when have you listened to it when it concerned Loki?
After a week or so, you fell into a routine with him, texting him whenever you got some time. On days when he didnât text you, you worried. And then patiently waited, hoping he was well. But it was impossible for you to wait, you almost went against his words to relieve yourself, but stopped at the very end. Then one day you were not so lucky, and very very very desperate. Your will power broke, and you had one of the best orgasms in a while, almost as good as the ones Loki gave you. The waiting does add to the intensity.
But now you are scared. You knew you cannot lie to Loki, he is the god of lies, but you didnât want to confess to him either. You were already in this arrangement because you were going through his stuff behind his back, and now you broke his rule.
As a few days passed the guilt ate you from the inside, so you confessed to him over text. His reply was worse than anything you could have expected. It was an âOK.â, that too with a full stop! You were expecting him to reprimand you, but this meant only one thing, that he will take care of this matter when he arrives.
Loki : My place, right now.
This is the text you had been waiting for! Fcking finally. Finally some fucking! The last two weeks took a toll on you, not only did you abide by Lokiâs rule and were super frustrated, you were also anxious about how Loki would punish you, for breaking his rule.
You were prepared for this evening for a very long time, you even bought a new pair of dark green lingerie for him.
As you walked towards his door, it hit you. The delicious smell, coming from his place, filled the whole corridor. Did he get you food? Before you even knocked the door, he opened it (damn his god powered hearing).
You immediately went in for a hug. âI missed you! You took too long for this!â. His hands wrapped around you, pulling you into him, then you felt him breathing you in. âAnd we both know that you lack any patienceâŠâ he whispered into your hair, which made you stiffen immediately, prompting a chuckle out of him.
(To be continued)
Thankyou for reading my work. And, well.. just thankyou.
â Star-Shaped Seelie â
Genshin Impact Ensemble x Child!Seelie!Reader
Synopsis: Who knew a wardrobe could hide such a big secret? You know, like completely altering your physical form and shoving you into a completely foreign world with no instructions! What could go wrong?
Note: Playing around with concepts and stuff. Crossposted on AO3 and maybe Wattpad laterâŠfirst post on here too (idk what Iâm doing on this app!)
Warnings: mild emotional neglect, affection-deprived reader, child reader, seelie reader, PLATONIC relationships, hilichurls, possible ooc (in the near future đ)
Chapter 1: Coming Out Of The Closet
"Ma, ma! Look, I drew you something!â"
"Not now, [y/n]. I'm busy."
You puffed out your cheeks into a pout, sighing as you lowered your hands. You worked on this drawing for hours! Well, maybe it wasn't that long...but still!
You had even taken the time to colour it in with your crayons! And it was the one with sixty-four in one pack! Oh, well..it wasn't like it was the first time you had gotten brushed off.
It was disheartening, but you shook your head to snap yourself out of your daze. Right, you couldn't be sad! It wasn't like your parents were just ignoring you. They said it was work! And work, apparently, was really important. Even more important than you?
...No, no, they said they were working for you. That couldn't be right. It was in your benefit. How could you think any different? Surely, your Ma and Pa would call you ungrateful if you were to voice out your thoughts. You definitely didn't want that. Maybe you were just too young to understand.
Still, it didn't make it hurt less when you wanted to do things with them, but they'd be glued to their cell phones or computers. Though they'd tell you they'd listen to you later, they'd just end up collapsing on their bed the moment they finish. Or they'd be busy arguing, like always.
You'd wonder why they just couldn't just hug and make up! You've seen it in your shows multiple times, so why couldn't that happen?
When would you get your magical superhero to swoop down and solve the ongoing conflict? Maybe the hero was busy helping other children. But how long would you have to wait until it was your turn?
You were patient, and a good kidâpromise!
Regardless, the lack of attention you received was incredibly disappointing, but, what could you do about it? You could only hope that your parents would one day hold true to their promises and spend some time with you.
"...Okay, can I show you my drawings after though?"
"Yep, yep." She didn't pull her eyes away from the screen as she waved you off out of her room. You knew very well it was all a lie, though. "Now go bother your father for now, okay?"
You brightened. Of course, there was your dad! Surely they weren't working at the same time! You rushed down the hall towards your father's study, the paper clutched tightly in your hands. Unable to contain your excitement, you practically slammed his door open.
Maybe you shouldn't have done that, watching nervously as he lurched up from his desk. It seemed that he was napping before you came in, at least, before you rushed in. Your shoulders were now tensed, as if bracing for the worst. "...Hi dad."
His eyes focus on you, and for a second, a flash of anger is clearly shown by the way his eyes narrowed. But it soon faded...slightly, maybe, as he fixed his hair and turned away from you. "What have I told you about running in the halls? And you slammed the door so hard the neighbours could probably hear you."
"Sorry..." Your shoulders sagged as you sulked, looking ashamed. But your father did not look, nor did he acknowledge your intention for being there. Instead, he waved his hand in a similar motion like your mother had done so minutes ago.
"It's already been done. I'm not angry, just a little disappointed, [y/n]." He sighed, and you could hear the faint scribbling coming from where he sat. "Run along now. Your aunt and cousins should be here any moment now."
You nodded, slowly closing the door and walking down the stairs. You felt a bit disheartened at your mother's indifference and your father's seemingly endless criticism, but you would slap your face to get yourself out of it. "It's okay...Ma and Pa are just working. Ma has an important meeting later, and Pa is just making sure I'm not being a bad kid. I just need...to be better."
That's what you convinced yourself it was, anyways, as you made your way to the living room and plopped yourself down onto the floor. Your crayons were spread out on the floor, ready for you to continue drawing. And so you didâyou had a brand new sheet of paper, and you spent the next few minutes drawing as you waited for your beloved aunt to drop by.
Soon enough, the doorbell rang. You sprang to your feet, leaving your materials on the floor as you practically flew to the front door. You'd open it with clear excitement, already recognizing the certain knock pattern that hit onto your door.
"Milo!" You practically launched yourself at the boy, tackling him into a hug. You could hear giggles and laughter from the other kids, as well as one that sounded much older than the restâyou supposed that was your aunt.
The woman was rather tall, and she bore a great resemblance to your father. But instead of the usual frown he seemed to have, she had a warm, happy smile that you'd always see when she visited. "[y/n]! It's so good to see you! It's been a long time."
You released your cousin with a nod, placing your hands on your waist. "Yes! I missed you, Aunt Cass! And Milo! And Lily, of course!" You listed off, making sure not to forget any of your dearest relatives.
"I'm sure you did," Your aunt would chuckle, patting your head as she slipped her boots off by the rug. "Where's your father?"
Your demeanor faltered for a brief moment, reminded of the unpleasant exchange you had because of your excitement. "Working! Like usual! But it's okay, we just gotta be quiet."
Despite your attempts to hide your sullen expression, Cass could see right through you. Even if you hadn't said anything, she was well-aware of her brother's tendencies to work himself to death and (hopefully unintentionally) neglecting you in the process. Well, both him and his wife had this problem, because she had been more of a mother to you than your actual parents...which said a lot. What would've happened if she wasn't there? She didn't even wanna imagine it.
"Alright. I'm just going to talk to him, so you three play here and remember, if someone knocks at the doorâ"
"Don't open it and call you down instead," Milo sighed, clearly tired of the constant reminders. It was common sense, after all. His response earned him a ruffle through his dark hair, messing it up completely. He only swatted his mother's hand away with a whine, trying to fix it back to how it was before.
"Yep! And if someone breaks in, run to the kitchen, because that's where all the weapons are!" Lily piped up, while you only held your thumbs up in reply to it all.
"...What they said."
Your aunt would smile, laughing a little as she clasped her hands together. "Good! Now, I'll be right back!" She'd say, before retreating upstairs towards your father's study. Now you three were alone in the living room...
So, naturally, you decided to play hide-and-seek! Your house wasn't the biggest, but it had a lot of good hiding spots. Luckily for you, this round had you as a hider. Both you and Lily were hiders, while Milo would be the seeker. You were pretty good at seeking, yes, but hiding was much more fun.
"Remember, no peeking!" You reminded the boy as you and Lily glanced at each other with a grin. You were going to make this incredibly difficult for the boy, that's for sure.
"Yeah, yeah, just go!" Milo huffed, turning to face the wall with his hands over his eyes. The starting point was the bathroom on the first floorâand the moment he started to count, you two were gone.
The two of you were together, until Lily separated from you to hide somewhere in the kitchen. You, on the other hand, decided to go upstairs. If you were going to hide with Lily, you'd both be out at the same time; you had to think strategically about this.
You were about to run into your room when you caught sight of a certain door. It was the one that would lead you to the attic. Your eyes went from the door to the bathroomâthen back to the ominous darkness leading upstairs. Well, you guys laid out general rules...like how outside was off-limits for obvious reasons, but they never mentioned the attic.
A small grin made its way on your face as you stifled your giggles, running up the stairs quietly. After all, you weren't sure how much longer you had left until the seeker emerged. You made it to the top, huffing as you looked around the area. It was mostly just boxes and old furniture, and your original plan was to hide behind or even inside one of the boxes.
Those plans would fade, though, as soon as you caught sight of something even better.
A closet! It was something that apparently belonged to a distant relative, but your parents didn't seem to care for it. The presence of dust was evidence of the neglect, if the fact that it was tucked into the attic wasn't enough proof by itself.
You wondered if you'd have a similar amount of dust on your surface if you were a closet, too. Your parents didn't seem to like entertaining your endless chatter, nor appreciate your wonderful masterpieces you drew with your almighty crayons! It's okay, though. They were the ones missing out.
Brushing away the thoughts, you leaped into the closet and coughed when you noticed the amount of dust that was inside as well. You expected it to be empty, but there were a few coats inside.
Well, you say jackets, but...they sort of looked like costumes. There were weird ones. Some were red and white with clover designs, while there was one that was white and black with gold plates on them. There were even more, but you couldn't even comprehend how some of them worked. It was really weird, but your confusion faded when you heard a familiar shout downstairs.
Right, you had a much more important objective right now! And if that was Lily's shrill scream that you had just heard, that means you were about to have two people looking for you. You had to act fast.
Throwing yourself into the closet, you closed the doors and adjusted yourself inside. When you backed further into the closet, you expected to feel the cool wood against your back. But you didn'tâyou ran into another set of strange clothes hung on a rack. That was strangeâyou swore you only saw one rack. Plus, this closet was pretty darn small! There was no way it could fit two long racks inside.
Or maybe it could. It just...kept going, like an endless hole. Although you originally thought you just got lucky with the density of the wardrobe, you began to wonder if there was even an end to the piece of furniture.
"Woah. Magical closet," You muttered as you ventured deeper into the closet, pushing aside the strange attire and taking a few steps in. Actually, were you even in the closet anymore? It felt more like a tunnel now. You paused when you noticed light peeking from the top, and you couldn't help but gasp in awe. "...Sparkly."
You pushed back the final set of clothes to the side, andâ
"Woaw. It's grass!"
Now, if your cousins were hearing this right now, they most likely would've called you crazy. But you weren't wrong! Far from it. In fact, you were seeing a lot of grass right now. The moon was casting its soft light down on you from above. Strange...wasn't it? It was just the afternoon a few seconds ago. Was it night in the closet? Actually, were you even in the closet anymore?
You turned to look at where you came from, only to gasp. The closet was gone. Instead, there stood a stone archway...as if you had walked out of that instead.
"Am I dreaming?" You wondered aloud as you examined your surroundings. Suddenly, you felt a new weight on your shoulders. Or maybe you had just realized that your clothes were completely different now.
You were now wearing a golden-yellow poncho, with a golden fur-like scarf wrapped around your neck. Two yellow thin strands of strange material sprouted from the front of it too. You were also wearing some sort of yellow star pin that kept the poncho and scarf connected, and it was then you realized that it was glowing brightly.
Or maybe you were the one that was glowing.
"Gasp! I'm a big glowstick now!" You exclaimed, twirling around with a giggle. You watched as your clothes fluttered around with your movements, the ends glowing a faint yellow.
What a strangely intricate dream you were having. You never had this much of a vivid experience before, and it was exciting.
"Wait, if I'm dreaming, does that mean I could fly?" You asked no one in particular, looking down at yourself before beaming. Overcome with sudden determination, you crouched down to ready yourself. You then jumped into the air, trying to flap your imaginary wings. "Flyyy, me!"
...Nothing happened. You'd fall back on your bottom, and you groaned. "Ouch. Aw, man!" You huffed, standing up and dusting yourself off. "Hmm."
You looked around for something, eyeing the stone arch. Maybe you had to jump off something? No, but the arch was too high. Perhaps you should do something safer.
Your gaze fell onto the nearby ledge, and you'd inch towards it nervously. Looking down, you realized that it wasn't a big jump. You could probably land on your feet if you fell.
But suddenly, you were nervous. Heights were scary. What if you went splat?
"I can walk away and never learn how to jump," You mumbled to yourself. "Or I can be brave and do it! If this is a dream, I won't get hurt if I fall! Everything will be a-okay!"
(You seemed to have forgotten how you had just braced a painful fall seconds ago.)
"Ookay, here we go..." You sucked in a deep breath, squeezing your eyes shut. You just had to build up the courage. Remember, flying is easy in a dream! Then you could maybe fly into the night, and touch the stars! Submerging yourself in those thoughts, you opened your eyes and furrowed your eyebrows in concentration. "Wait, I should be cool about this. Hmm..."
You thought for a moment before a grin appeared on your face, and you cleared your throat. "Toooo Infinity, and Beyoonddd!!!"
You jumped.
Suddenly, you felt lighter. You were no longer falling, but instead, your feet seemed to hover above ground. Your eyes widenedâyou were really flying! It felt so real, too!
But for some reason, you felt smaller...
"Oh." It was then you realized your arms were really small. In factâyour arms didn't even look like your arms! They were small and yellow, and looked like jelly! You panicked, trying to get a good look at your new body, to no avail. What in the world was going on?
You looked around for a mirror. Were there mirrors in this place? No, but you caught sight of a nearby pond. You wasted no time and flew towards it, only to shriek when you saw the reflection.
You were...you were a small yellow blob! With bunny ears! And a four-pointed star for a face! You noticed you also had that same gold scarf around your neck, but that wasn't the most important aspect right now. You literally did not have a face!
"Oh no. I'm a tiny lemon jelly rabbit!" You cried out, only to hear incoherent babbles coming out of yourâwell, you didn't actually have a mouth...but still. "Oh no no, I'm a tiny lemon jelly rabbit that speaks gibberish!"
Your tiny arms clutched the small ears atop your head, trying to decipher what exactly you were made out of. You were terribly confused, but yet, excited at the same time. Did this mean you had magical powers now? You always wanted to have cool powers! Maybe you could fight bad guys, andâ
A sudden force caused you to choke when you felt your little spirit body be snatched up by a pair of hands. Panic swelled in your tiny being, as you squirmed. 'Oh no. I'm dead, I'mdeadI'mdeadI'mâ'
"Olah!" [Hi!] It was a scratchy voiceâand it did not sound human, further solidifying your fears when you looked up to see your captor. It was a strange creature with a mask, and fluffy hair surrounding its head. For some reason you knew what it was...it was a hilichurl. "Kucha si." [Small thing.]
"I dunno what you're saying, Mister Goblin." You huffed as you relaxed in it's hold. You knew it was a hilichurl, but it looked like a goblin, so you decided to use that instead. It didn't seem like it was going to eat you like you thought it was, so you could maybe trust it. When you looked over the hilichurl's shoulder, you found that it was all alone.
"Yo movo, kucha tomo!" [You come, small friend!] It exclaimed, and you jumped when it began to run off. Oh well, guess it was taking you somewhere now. Was this considered kidnapping? Your parents made it seem like it'd be scary! This was really fun! You should get kidnapped more often.
Your new friend ran a good distance before making it to a rather strange building. It had engravings on it and glowed a faint red. You trembled a bit in fearâit looked scary. Were you supposed to go inside that?
Much to your relief, it turned away from the doors and instead, walked along the stone paths that were laid out nearby. It looked like he had a little camp set up near this big glowing building. And yet, this whole place seemed abandoned. You gazed up at the hilichurl sympathetically, patting its arm. "Your home is broken. It's okay though, I'll be your friend!"
You had said that because you assumed this poor thing was living alone. You were proven wrong, immediately, because you found more of these hilichurl creatures emerging from behind rocks and stones. They all looked...the same. The same mask, fur, and even clothes. If you were to examine them further, though, there were some characteristics that helped separate some of them...like how one had a clipped ear, or how one had three scratches etched into its mask. Some even wore different coloured bandanas on their body somewhere. But at first glance, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
Well, except for one, that was much bigger than the others. His mask was more defined, and had black fur. The axe that sat next to him was incredibly intimidatingâyou hoped you wouldn't anger it enough to become minced spirit goop. The hilichurl that held you was now offering you up to the big guy, and you could only shrink away as its gaze scrutinized your entire being. You kind of felt like Simba right now, except it wasn't on a cliff and to celebrate your birth. You felt like you were being judged...
"...Hi." You muttered, though your words came out as babbles and squeals instead. And yet, a small part of you hoped they'd somehow understand you.
The creature in front of youâa lawachurl, definitely (how did you even know these names?), suddenly reached out towards you. Was he gonna give you a hug?
You sparkled in excitement, your initial fear fading away. You loved hugs! And this big fluffy guy looked like a nice hugger.
"Mosi?" [To eat?] It rumbled, gaining a frantic shake of the head from the hilichurl that held you.
"Nye. Kucha...tomo!" [No. Small friend.] The hilichurl seemed to beam at their leader, presenting your little spirit body up to the lawachurl again.
"Yes. Tomo!" You had no clue what that meant, but just repeated the word you had managed to catch despite their clear inability to understand you. You wondered if tomo meant friend. Or best friend! You wouldn't mind having another best friend.
But the lawachurl understood the hilichurl, and you felt a small pat on the head from the big guy. It was a miracle you hadn't been squished to death.
"Dada!" [Very good!] The hilichurl cheered, as if it were happy your presence was accepted. You blinked curiouslyâhuh, were you just adopted by Mister Goblin and his family?
It didn't show on your faceless body, but you could feel your subconscious smiling brightly.
Now that you thought about it...you were definitely winning that hide-and-seek match right now.
Note: i swear i hate trying to translate hilichurlian LIKE where is ella musk when you need her đđ
MHA chapter 425
Iam not really sure how to feel about this chapter. Well I can definitely say that I still think that the entirety of the second war arc especially the last few chapters weren't my favourite and ruined the series for me but we have the power of rewrites on our side so not to worry
So we finally have a 1A member that left. It's surprising that it took a total of 425 chapters for someone to finally leave the hero course. This low-key makes me question if 1A just all has neglectful parents that don't care about them because I think any sane parent would of took their kids out of UA a long time ago and the first war arc should of been a wake up call. Now that yuuga has left it does make me wonder what he will do. I mean he has to continue his education somewhere đ€·ââïž
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b5dda864d45aa4d2e965f5369793e72c/a18d83065e3bb5e7-3f/s640x960/0e28cf00f8abe954d4deb788f20946ecc7cea84d.jpg)
Shinsou joins class 1A and Iam surprised his parents let him. I get that shinsou was due to join the hero course in their second year but like this series sometimes make me question if any of these characters have sane parents because why would you let your kid join in such a dangerous job?!?! Also I respectfully think that shinsou is heavily underdeveloped and didn't get any moment to shine in the war arc. Also there isn't much of a relationship between 1A and shinsou so it does feel a bit off I guess and maybe this is just me but I always thought that he fit in better with 1b
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e835e97041a2fd9730cf7b72604ca14a/a18d83065e3bb5e7-ee/s640x960/4ba9463e863e2e9629dc35933dc6f367db1c1555.jpg)
Pacing is hella fast! How are they going back to school already and throwing a graduation ceremony. It hasn't been a week and somehow everything is rebuilt like that, we get little to no information from what they plan to do in the future. We do get a tiny speech but we don't get them starting to do such things and personally I would of at least enjoyed a panel seeing some heroes help rebuild and clean the damage caused. Plus I think everyone can tell that the MHA society is flawed so saying that they want to go back to their old ways seems very iffy to me. I also would of liked an acknowledgement in what actually happen in the war arc but considering that not many people died they weren't gonna do any type of memorial thing or anything.
Is that shigaraki?!?! Or kurogiri?!?!?!? Who is it!!! Iam totally unsure of who it is but I don't think it would make sense if it was shigaraki because he literally died unless hori is actually going along with the plan of separating Tenko and shigaraki and thats not shigaraki but the innocent and crying Tenko type of bs (I absolutely hate this idea tbh) also what happend for tenko to come back as a child I suppose? Or is this someone completely new who has been effected by society and we're supposed to be like well evil is still brewing as society hasn't changed type thing? Maybe it's kurogiri idk I just want to see kurogiri again.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0e50ac61aafb0272f94cfe7457600cc4/a18d83065e3bb5e7-7e/s540x810/a7b9721bd14fd52ea322a5940d5a99ceb94ce2be.jpg)
Enji is in a wheelchair (don't really care for him). This makes me question if endy is even a hero anymore and if he ain't who is the number one then? ( I still think they're going by that system because they said they wanna go back to the old ways)
Wait are we gonna see Dabi next chapter!!!!. Enji is facing somewhere with a ton of wires and all so maybe it could be where Dabi is being held at? I mean we don't know if Dabi is dead and we didn't get todoroki talking about it at all
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e4e7e508f645c84bb8116f4e1a5b76be/a18d83065e3bb5e7-cc/s640x960/7c8e5a02fad8bdc3e353bdf3d1b3345a37c23aab.jpg)
I need Izuku's old hair back!! I miss the fluffy hair and I get that the convo was supposed to be lighthearted and all but I would of enjoyed the pages being used for something else like them actually checking up on eachother. Is tokoyami quirkless? How did they spend their time? Questions like that would of sufficed but I hated Izuku's hair at least he has some people telling him it's cool even if they might be lying
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ac89fe2c830de84f956a5d587ad5da92/a18d83065e3bb5e7-79/s640x960/f5b6aa4354b92fc2ae10b57a549f2e6a9b467a65.jpg)
This chapter didn't give us much clarification on much to be honest. Yeah I was expecting this chapter to have huge focus on other villains and characters yet it didn't. I know I have to be patient blah blah but the last two panels of 424 did give us ochako and Todoroki but we got the least focus on them this chapter. I was hoping the villain situations might start to get addressed but I guess that will be next chapter with maybe Tenko making a comeback?
Also I love how we got Toruu's quirk glitching but no one acknowledges it or helps her with it (sarcasm if you couldn't realise)
I also hate whatever convo that was between Izuku and ochako, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth for some unknown reason
Why the hell is a third year In charge of something a teacher should be!!?!?!! Poor fuwa UA corruption and hypocrisy goes deep.
How are children still joining ua?!?! Like yep society moves on like nothing happend even though Japan was turned upside down in chaos
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b8c20b765703e2a4f07f08cf467fe1e4/a18d83065e3bb5e7-a9/s640x960/fbd0f654302341d3640c8295bf776ec61c971c05.jpg)
In conclusion, it was ok I didn't expect it to be amazing because it was a chapter that was gonna expand on stuff I didn't like đ€·ââïž.
spoilers for drdt beyond the prologue utc
funniest plot twist guys actually wouldnât it be funny if teruko was actually the rival this whole time. like if david (the guy we all collectively love and hate atp) was actually the protagonist because he still clings onto the hope that there is still some good in this world while teruko has all but given up on it because nothing good has ever come out of hoping for her. like what if this is davidâs world and weâre all just living in it
okay i typed this all out for fun n i was gonna say goodnight but now that im like. writing this out. wait lowkey why is this clicking a little. something something teruko âi keep losing everything i love so i have no choice but to slowly rot in my own despair while shielding myself from letting things get worse for me. but iâm still alive anyway so iâll survive quietlyâ tawaki vs. david âthere is something (maybe even someone) beyond this sadistic game show that allows me to cling onto hope despite it all, and if that means everyone else including me will die then so be itâ chiem
the ways they cope with lossâlashing out only to bottle it up in the end vs bottling it up only to lash out at the endâoh i love them. i love them so dearly thank u for these compelling dynamics drdt dev
is teruko actually the protagonist? she should beâweâve been following her perspective this whole time after all. but at the same time she is constantly having her cynical worldview challenged by other people, like charles and eden and whit and david, who all cling to hope and happiness despite it all. for all the castâs eccentricities, they have the luxuries of being able to wish for something teruko doesnât have: a life worth living outside of this killing game. something that, as she slowly loosens up during this trial, makes her realize that oh, maybe i could have a future like this too. itâs something that iâve noticed rivals in the canon games have too (maybe minus nagito but he was not someone whose personality iâd analyzed back in middle school where my danganronpa roots lie. also he lowkey freaks me out). maybe with these guys by my side, i can finally learn to hope again. idk power of friendship guys wahoo
david is surrounded by people who love him, who he encourages like a knight in shining armorâlike a main character, perhaps. we donât fully know how much of act it is, especially considering how this is chapter two and we got our current emo eyebag loser literally one episode ago. but what we do know is that he treasures xander a lot, though the nature of that relationship right now is unknownâromantic? platonic? parasitic, even? im not rlly into the drdt ship culture so i couldnât tell u. the fact that davidâs memories are also starting to return can help us assume that in both the current killing game and during hopeâs peak, theyâd idolized each other. could david be connected to the sterlings, that business family we keep seeing within the drdt universe? could the sterlings be the true mastermind and the reasons behind this placeâs existence?
idk how to continue this but something something âi am the protagonist and i cannot dieâ seems like some sort of vague setup for a 5th/6th chapter death involving teruko that will involve david needing to take over. ties it back together for her essentially being the reason behind the first murder
Entangled Strings of Fate
Chapter 7. Act of War (and parting ways)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4c38014e486e63aed2dfb525b924c7b7/dd8862baa1af0d3f-6b/s540x810/56dd3ebdc0f1da9bcf80fd98e081a0c34dda9908.jpg)
Spencer Reid x FOC
Summary: Caltech, Pasadena - Cleo considers herself a woman of logic. With an IQ of 158 and an eidetic memory, how could she not. But meeting Spencer, the boy genius to hers, had her believing in intangible theories like the invisible string and the fates. Now, if only he would notice the depth of her feelings. Set in Caltech, pre-season 1 and will progress from there.
a/n: I'll be taking a quick break from Entangled Strings of Fate first as I build up the back log for it's remaining chapters and as I also plan to finish Yours Truly, Romeo to make way for 2 new Spencer Reid fanfic ideas I've been drafting (one is a one shot y/n that could be turned into a mini series idk yet and another is a confirmed mini series y/n.) Hope that gets you excited for new releases!
"All warfare is based on deception." - The Art of War by Sun Tzu
Radio static silenceâthat was the accurate description Cleo could think of during the next two days she and Spencer sparsely spent around each otherâs orbit. No longer was there an unseen force tethering their limbs to another and in its place there was vast empty space between their two drifting souls, where the universe lay in wait while the cosmos convened their fate. The small bursts of respite came when he would leave her existence, donning on his mask and gear to play pretend that everything was alright in his world for his team of profilers to believe. BAU stayed firmly on ground, finishing endless paperwork and with no invitation coming from local precinctsâa first, as if the killers of the state agreed to take a break. A lull not welcomed by Spencer, she instinctively knew, as it gave him no fodder to distract his brilliant mind from the turmoil ravaging his insides.Â
By the third sunrise, Cleo was the one pulled down by gravity while he stayed aimlessly alone and drifting, taunted by his craving for his own choice of poison. But she didnât know that and should she had, things may have gone differently.
Nevertheless, she wanted to throw her responsibilities into the endless void and stay to brace for the turbulence coming to hit their already damaged ship but reality was cruel and did not allow it. So, she found herself surrounded by her peers, sitting in a cramped lecture room listening to a guest prosecutor drolly giving advice to the future workers for justice. Physically, she was there but introspectively, her mind had flown back to where heâSpencerâwas. She had wanted to call in for back upâDerek or Penelope to keep him company, to act as a distraction but it was impossible to do without having to fill in the reasons whyâwhy he looked like he had been pulled down to hell and back. Why he couldnât be left alone with his own thinking and near-perfect memory. And why he needed a warden disguised as a friend to keep him safe. She almost hated her past self for promising to keep his brutal fall from grace as a secret.
The end of the lecture brought her back to the present and to a stand, hastily exiting without so much a glance around.Â
âSpence, Iâm back,â she announced her presence as she stepped inside. âSpencer, are you there?â
Deafening silence answered back. With a cellphone left precariously on the entryway table, she scanned for a shadow of human life. As she rounded every empty corner, the whispers of her imagination got louder and louder. The chorus inside her now screaming horrible chants of drugs and death. She closed her eyes and took a deep shaky breath to push the screams away. Maybe he went up on the roof for fresh air, maybe to the corner mart for Jell-Os, or maybe to the nearby bookstoreâher unwavering trust and naivety churning excuses for her grasp on. She compromised with herself to wait, anxiously, for at most thirty minutes before calling in the cavalry in the name of SSA Derek Morgan.
Time crawled slowly with her staring at the clock pendulum swinging unabashedly. But forty-five minutes and a phone call had gone by and Derek was now announcing his imposing presence with rapid knocks on the door.Â
âPretty girl, whatâs wrong?â He asked, side stepping into the apartment. âWhereâs Reid?âÂ
She opened her mouth, unsure on until what extent she should share but it was as if the cosmos made the decision for her. As Morgan was entering the living room, he had knocked over Spencerâs well-worn satchel left lying on the floor with its straps unbuckled and as if in slow motion, it topped over and two medicine bottles came rolling out to stop in front of his shined boots. Eyes widening, he bent down to pick both up, one empty and one still sealed shut.Â
âMurphy,â Morganâs tone no longer containing any niceties. It was as if a switch was flipped. âWhat the hell is this?â
Rubbing her fingers to her temples in a circular manner, Cleo came clean on what transpired the other night.
âYou should have told me right away,â he exclaimed, banging his empty fist on a nearby surface. âThis isnât some small secret you can promise to keep.â
âI-I knowâI know that now but that isnât the reason why I called you here. Well, itâs part of the reason but when I came home, he was nowhere to be found and I donât know what to do. You donât think heâs out buyâ" she cut herself off, unable to speak aloud to the universe where her mind had been spiraling to.
He clenched his jaw, trying to rein in his anger. âWeâll talk about this when I get back and I mean it, Murphy. Stay here just in case, Iâll go find him.âÂ
She nodded as Morgan rushed out the door, clearly not wanting to waste any more precious minutes.
âââ
An hour had passed before the handle on the main entryway turned to unlock. It was Spencer, looking worse for wear than when she last left him. The faint purple bruising under his vacant eyes now looked deep in colorâalmost matching his favorite scarf loosely hanging on his neck. His shoulders hunched forward as if caving in from the weight of the world heâs carrying. His fingers stuffed inside the pockets of his cardiganâCleo didnât want to think of what they could contain. And his listless feet dragging his body forward before collapsing on the couch.Â
âSpencer, where were you?â Her voice cracked as her knees landed with a gentle thud, the carpet cushioning her fall, in front of his hunched form. âWhere did you go?âÂ
âOut. I went out,â he muttered under his breath. Her ears straining to hear any more of his reply but there were none. She was no profiler but she read enough of his signs to know that he was withholding something from her.
She wrangled with her fingers, preparing herself for the anger that her next words would bring to the surface. âI called Derek, heâs out looking for you now andââ her voice cut off as her eyes shifted to look at the two vials Morgan had placed on the table. His own following her gaze before widening and springing his body upright as if electrocuted.Â
âHow could you! I trusted you!â He raised his voice, filled with accusation and malice. Gone were the vacancy in his eyes, replaced with such poison her eyes couldnât take to see.
âPlease, Spencer, what was I suppose to do?â She begged imploringly, overwhelmed with the anger rolling of him in waves. âYou were nowhere to be foundâno note, no way to contact you, no way to know what you were doing. Tell me, what should I have done?â
He paced the floor, throwing his hands up in the air with aggression. âYou could have waited for me to come backâyou could have done anything, anything at all, but call Morgan,â he ragingly ranted. âFor someone who claims to have a genius IQ, you sure did something stupid.â
âThatâs not fair, Spencer, and you know it. You promised me there were no more drugs in this apartment. You canât call me out on breaking my promise when you did just the same,â she answered back as she stood up from her kneeling position.Â
âSo I told a small lieâa fib. But that doesnât give you the right to share what Iâm going through with any member of my team. My team, Cleo, not yours.â
She took a deep breath, thinking of a way to diffuse the situation. âIâm sorry for breaking my promise. Iâll make it up to youâjust let me help you. Let me in,â she looked down at her fingers, head bowing, a clear sign of defeat. âThis isnât like you, Spencer.â
âNo offense Cleo, but you donât really know who I am now, do you? Youâve never seen or experienced what I see, doâdid for this job. This position that Iâve been working towards to ever since I could form words. This career, that is now endangered to be taken away from me all because of youâa people pleasing upper-class girl who never knew hardship a day in her life so she created mini problems for herself just so she could have a backstory to use as a social crutch.â
Cleo wrapped her arms around her waist, trying to hold herself together at the seams threatening to unravel. She knew his fury was making him say all these hurtful words as if he a wounded animal lashing out to protect itself from further pain and death but knowing the reasoning behind it didnât make it less hurtful.
âDo you want me to continue,â he smirked. His eyes staring straight into hers with such rage and hatred. ââCause I can go all day and profile and every little action, sentence, and tic from the very first day we met. I have an eidetic memory, remember?â
Nails digging into her skin, the physical pain amounting to nothing but a flesh wound compared to the viciousness the boy she once considered her other half threw at her. She huffed out a breath, feeling the treacherous tears slide down her cheeks. âI just wanted to help you, really. Thâthere was no need for you to hurt my feelings like this. Is that what you wanted to do? Break me down into a black and white profile, just like your case files and unsubs then throw it back to my face as if you think I didnât know who I am,â she countered. âDid that make you feel any better? Did that lessen the anger in your chest? If not yes, letâs talk properly and if not then, what now, Spencer. What now.â
âI think this is a mistake,â he stated matter of factly, as if to bar any argument to be uttered by her lips. âTrusting you, meeting you and getting to know you is a mistake that I will regret for the rest of my life. Iâd like you and your things gone now.âÂ
Shock rooted her to the spot. This wasnât the end that she ever imagined coming. âIs this what you really want, Spencer?â
He nodded and reached his palm wide open in between the charged space. âYes, the spare key pleaseââ
Her hands violently shaking as she reached and removed the proof of his trust hanging from her keychain.
ââand itâs Dr. Reid.â There were tears pooling beneath his eyes, but his face was rigid with defiance.Â
Wanting to stay and fix whatever had been broken between them regardless of what had transpired was not an option she could see to pursue. So she gathered her nearby items, whatever remaining dignity she had left and walked slowly towards the exit. And without so much another word, the door was slammed behind her. An unmovable barrier between the world that she once knew and loved to be.
âGoodbye, Dr. Spencer Reid,â she sobbed under her breath. Cleo stayed there spiritlessly standing for what could have been hours just trying to gather her bearings and her broken, black and blue heart.
Derek ran into her on the building steps, brows furrowing as he took in her appearanceâred rimmed eyes, tear stained face, and wilting aura. âHey pretty girl, you alright? What happened with Reid?âÂ
She shrugged, not having the energy to rehash the scalding hot words thrown at her. Morgan was a profiler after allâsheâd bet he profiled her the same way SpencâDr. Reid did. âHeâs back in his apartment.â
âMurphy?â His voice going up at the end, concerned. âWhat happened? Whatâs wrong?â
âNothing, nothing at all. IâI just remembered I had somewhere to be. Books to read, cases to study,â she said quickly, wanting to escape the seasoned gaze before she comes crashing down.
âDonât lie to me, Murphy. Iâm a profiler. I know when something is wrong.â
She shook her head, trying to keep whatever honor she had left. âPlease Derek, donât ask.â
His dark brown inquisitive eyes studied hers for a moment. âAlright, I wonât.â
She breathed a sigh of relief and whispered a small thank you. âI need you to do something for me,â she pleaded as she reached into her pockets before turning over the folded piece of paper to Derek. âThis is a contact number for Narcotics AnonymousâA.A meetings for law enforcements. Give it to Reid when heâs ready and take care of him for me, will you?â
His eyebrows raising in alarm. âPretty girl, what happâwhy canât you give it to him yourself?â
âI canât, Derek. I canât. Just promise me, okay?â Her last word breathy, betraying the tears residing in her eyes that are threatening to spill.
He sighedâclearly wanting to push but nodded in respect to her decision. He let go of her hand and started to slowly walk towards the elevator. âTake care of yourself, Murphy. Call me when you need anything, I mean it.â
âYou too, Morgan. You, too,â she mustered up a weak, fake smile.
Cleo stepped down the apartment building with shaky footing and a suit of desolation. As if she was an astronaut in space who had lost her ties to her spaceship. Floating into the void, helpless and facing inevitable death by lack of oxygen. She took another step and another and another away from her air, her constantâfrom the one she once thought as home until she was nothing but a blip in the distance.Â
EVERY BIT CHANGED BUT STILL INTRINSICALLY YOOOUUUUU!!!! YEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!
I absolutely adored the direction you went with the ending, like I couldnât think (per usual) of a more perfect buildup and ending for this series. The self healing for reader, the return-to-basics to build herself back up, and realising what things she clung onto that just wasnât healthy for her :c THE QUITTING OF HER DUMBASS JOB YES GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE GIRL BECAUSE WHAT DO YOU MEAAANNN YOU WAS PULLING ALL-NIGHTERS FOR A COMPANY THAT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUUUUU.
Iâm glad sheâs taking the steps to release herself from all that isolation and take the steps to heal the hurt because she does deserve betterđ„ș she does deserve to feel better and she deserves to be surrounded by the people that love her!!!
And the Sylus changeđ„č I didnât rlly expect it (I should have though cause gray hair and CRIMSON red eyes isnât rlly considered the ordinary) but itâs still him no matter what and I am so happy with this too!!!!!!! Even without all that power and immortality and the bravado that comes with it, Sylus is still him, he still loves the way he always has doneđđđđ.
The appearance change totally solved my little brainworm from a few days ago lol. No more being worried about extended family member #19 at the reader/Sylus wedding pulling her aside to whisper âidk if u know about this⊠game called lads⊠anyways⊠ur groom looks like a certain character⊠hahaâŠđâ
Sylus better be setting up that tiktok account and make a killing as a Sylus âcosplayerâ. Heâs got a whole lot of spending to do yeeeepppppp but that will also complicate a lot of things at the wedding⊠âomg ur marrying THAT Sylus cosplayer????? Conđgratđulađđtionsâ
Oh my god I could cry, that little (big) stalker found reader againđ«¶đ«¶đ«¶đ«¶
âHello, my love. Have I kept you waiting?â
HELLLOOOOOOO????? AND WHAT IF I THROW UP RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU OOOOOOOOO YOU MAKE ME FEEL TOO MANY HAPPY EMOTIONS HEâS SO DARLING FOR THAT LINE IâM GONNA CRRRYYYYYYY STOOPPPPPPPPP
My god⊠at this point, that dildo is a side character LMAOOOOOO. I see you! Regretfully! (Not reallyđ«¶) now reader can get freaky with it and sylus will be THERE! In the flesh! And they can get freaky with each other!!!! I love that for themmmmm.
There wasnât a single coherent thought in this, sorry thatâs just how it is atm Iâm feeling a LOT of things, happy things, but still a LOTđ«¶đ«¶ Iâm just so grateful that you not only created this but you shared this with all of usđ„č I canât wait to see your future works!!
Also⊠sylus thorts on Byron hitting on reader?đ€ surely he wonât be too happy about that <3 but he should be happy cause the reader called him her boyfriend.
â đïž
HIIIII RACECAR (đïž) ANONNNN sorry i'm just getting to u rn!! i was trying to avoid posting any spoilers lol but i rly wanted to reply to this since i got ur ask đđ
damn i don't even know where to startâi love LONG rants, i just dk what to address first !/)&:& guess i'll start it off with a fucking HUGE THANK YOU for reading and loving the fic enough to send such a long ass message ilysm u lil dildo hater u đ©đ€§
anyway!! so yeah, the direction for the last chapter really put emphasis on the player's growth, having her figure how to deal with her past and present hang-ups, as well as coming to terms with them. i rly wanted to start the chapter on a more hopeful note, past the months of depression she'd gone through from sylusâ absence. the gradual progression, even the slight misstep (the ~ghost of her past~ showing up when she least expected it). i also wanted to convey how âpresentâ sylus was in her life, stillâthrough her choices/actions, and from the little things that reminded her of him.
and turning sylus mortal has always been the endgame, even when the story was still in its âšoutlineâš phase. @grabby-smitten actually put it quite aptlyâthe idea that this almost god-like, virtually indestructible being is willing to turn âhumanâ for you, and that itâs less of a sacrifice/demotion in his eyes, but more about being âequalâ to you. because to be human is to be with the person he lovesânothing more, nothing less â€ïž
and lmao, i like to think sylus gets a kick out of people staring at him a little too long, trying to place where they've seen him from đ he'd definitely fuck with conspirating distant cousins thrice removed by dropping not-so-subtle hints here and there.
also yes ok just to give u something to look forward to (breadcrumbing u guys so hard rn), byron will inevitably meet the âboyfriendâ at some point (in the spin-off), and they may or may not hash it out through someâŠ.. light-heartedâŠ.. sparring đââïž
Chapter 32: A Winter of love
Part 15/15
Previous Chapter Tumblr
Previous Chapter weebly (More NSFW)
"Oh, you're home," Hua said to her husband a moment later. "You found the letter." She didn't want to admit that the place it had been sent from, AlpenfrĂŒhle, sounded vaguely familiar. Fortunately, YĂŹchĂ©n had strategically omitted any mention of magic or pointed ears when describing Florian.
"Dear, why didn't you call right away? We're finally hearing from our son. After all those years...He's doing great! And not just any old thing - it sounds like he's marrying a fairytale princess." "....Uh, I was shocked. It's all been so long, and now all of a sudden... He's been sitting comfortably in Europe all these years? Not even hard to find, we should have tried harder... Oh, I can't wait to see him."
"So we're going. I want to go. You want to see him. Maybe I can even convince him to come back with his family... Or is there something you need to tell me?"
"No, darling. His future wife already sounds like a beautiful woman."
Switzerland, golden hair, freckles, green eyes... She was becoming forgetful lately, but to find out why that combination sounded so eerily familiar, she was going to rack her brains for the rest of the evening.
Notes:
It is 15,5 years ago since Hua/Finn's mom saw Florian. She obviously saw Florian back in the day and also knew the "weird boy with the two moms" was from Switzerland, and might've heard the name AlpenfrĂŒhle fall.
But, her husband doesn't. All he was ever knew is his son having, ahem, "weird taste" and being a tad too close with some other boys and refusing to go on dates with girls and being a stubborn flamboyant rebel who doesn't take life serious
They're about 60 but I still decided to make them adults instead of elders because damn the elders are ELDERS. Also Asian don't raisin or however they say that... Can I say that? Idk if I am allowed to say that
I am working those angles and a bit of heightslider to make Finn's dad look reasonably taller than his mom. Finn's about 1m79 in my head (Florian is 1m74) so I made his dad above average as well (in my head overall average is 1m72-75 ish)
Yes his dad is totally assuming "Flo" is a girl and a nickname for Florence or Florentina or Flora or something
#finn liĂș#Am I doing the âparents sincerely love child in a way but are still ignorant bigotsâ thing right?#pistache g3.32#storychapter#sims 3 stories#pistache gen 3#Mrs. LiĂș#Mr. LiĂș
DCRC Week #22
Guys I'm gonna be so fr I couldn't even think of anything to put at the beginning of this post. We're reading PKNA #18: Ancient Future that's all I got đ it's my last 2 weeks of the semester give me a break
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH THEY'RE ON A DATE OOOOOOOOOOO
What a nice night surely nothing could go wro-
nvm I forgot that this Duckburg is a crime-ridden hellscape worse than St. Canard
snoozer abuse </3
Ok so for the record, I'm fully convinced that whoever was responsible for this comic just played a game of DnD and was like "holy shit... I could put this in a duck comic" and that's why this chapter exists. And like I don't know a lot about the behind the scenes of this chapter but I haven't seen anything to prove me wrong sooo
Huge shoutout to the subplot here of Uno just fucking around with these robber guys, I love him
GUYS WOAHH NO WAY NEW ORB CHARACTER JUST DROPPED!!
Oh wait nevermind it's just like a crystal ball thing it's not alive
Bro is loredumping and PK doesn't give a fuuuuck he might be me
*squints* is that Odin's mansion
Lyla Lay the most beautiful and stunning woman in the whole wide world and then PK who is just like some little gremlin man
Ok so (spoiler for the ending of this comic I guess) I know this isn't actually the real Lyla but GOD please tell me it's still canon to her design that she has a big fucking rocket in her chest cause like COME ON. IT'S SO COOL. I love when Lyla does freaky robot shit and she should do it more often. She should just straight up vaporize people actually, I'd support her.
STOP SHUTTING HER DOWN DONALD YOU'RE RUINING IT
THE X-TRANSFORMER GOT THAT DAWG IN IT, WOOF
haha uh oh!! that sounds bad
Oh brother not THIS guy again (((person who actually really likes the Raider hey bud what's up how's the kid))
He misses his wife
Crying PK is third wheeling so bad
No Lyla always looks like that idk what you're talking about
FRIEND?!?!?! NO WAYYYY YOU GUYSSS WE'RE FIXING HIM. EVEN IF THIS ISN'T THE SAME RAIDER PROBABLY
Uno scolding Donald like a mom who's mad that her son stayed out late. "You should've left me a NOTE before you got vaporized to another dimension young man!!!"
"ok now tell me everything :333"
Don't worry guys we're not done yet cause it's time for BURTON LA VALLE.... yay....
ok but like who gaf about burton la valle BOOO BOOOOO BRING BACK TRIP!!! at least the art is nice
Mf used the word BOMBASTIC đ
AAAAAAH THIS IS A DONALD DUCK COMIC YOU CAN'T SAY ASS!!!
Oh so they're from Earth
WHO KEEPS PUTTING THE R SLUR IN THESE COMICS đđđ
Ok NOW I'm done. The only thing I really have to say about the main comic is that I really wanna know where the actual Lyla was during all this, cause presumably the evil droid thing was there from the very beginning all the way at the restaurant. And also I'm a little sad that Donald and Lyla didn't actually get to eat dinner together cause that would've been cute... platonic or romantic is up to you idc either way.
I will also add that this comic piques my interest just a little more on reread, specifically in regards to The Organization and some of their later developments that I'm not allowed to spoil. But like there's food for thought here that might come back later.
I miss Trip.
Back to the Future Part II, The Novel by Craig Shaw Gardner: Thoughts, commentary, and general ramblings
Part 1: An Interesting Start
About a year ago, I picked up a copy of the ridiculous, off-the-walls novelization of the first Back to the Future and had a thoroughly enjoyable time, which I documented in a series of posts (you can check out here).
Well, guess who got her hands on the Part II novel? And while it's not nearly as wild as the one written by George Gipe, the few chapters I've read have been fun, so I decided to make posts to go along as I read. Let's jump right in.
âą The book begins with a recap of the major events of the first movie, then catches up with Marty on the morning he wakes up to find that his life is now very different. As Marty thinks about the changes in his parents, he recalls the versions of them he had grown up knowing. Thereâs description of what a pushover George was, followed by this: âAnd his mother had reacted to all of this by quietly stepping back from life. she had also started drinking more than she should. They had both been good parents, had raised Marty and his brother and sister the best they could, but stillâŠâ
Then the thoughts about his parents just end there. And thereâs something so sad about the little reflection and the way it trails off and leaves things unsaid. Dysfunctional as they were, they had been good parents. They had tried their best. But stillâŠ
Still, it wasnât the greatest environment to grow up in. Still, it was difficult. Still, there was brokenness. I cry.
âą As Marty takes in all the new things in his life, he finds himself wishing that Doc had waited a bit before taking off into the future. âThe way all these things had changedâMarty thought they were great and all, but stillâif you looked at it a certain way, all this change could be a little scary.â
THANK YOU, BOOK. Yes! All these changes ARE scary, and thereâs no way a kid could be expected to just shrug and carry on when the very foundation of his life has been altered so dramatically but he doesnât remember any of it and now heâs a stranger in his own life with no memories of growing up with these significantly well-adjusted versions of his parents and even though things are technically better how can he not miss the way things used to be and the parents who raised him and honestly Doc could have waited a day or two before jetting off into the future ya know?
Just gonna drop this here
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/17441a68de49fe84fdc18a88e51d658d/2d8348888f2781f0-c0/s540x810/f1793ce885a62d0504e08ba055a5bd872c431bcf.jpg)
Eric Stoltz wasn't the right fit for Marty, but he was right about this. He Got It.
Yeah, so ANYWAY
âą Marty is so happy to see Jennifer that he has to âkeep himself from jumping up and down.â Martyâs so cute. Lilâ jumping bean guy. Golden Retriever of a boy.
âą When Doc is rifling through the trash for stuff he can throw into the Mr. Fusion, it refers to the banana peel (twice!) as âbanana skin.â Which is. An interesting choice.
âą As Doc backs the car out into the road, itâs mentioned that Marty lives on a street with a dead end. Idk why this tiny little tidbit is intriguing to me but it is. Â
âą After they arrive in 2015 Doc responds to Martyâs questions of if heâs a rich rockstar by saying maybe this whole thing was a mistake and he should just take Marty right back home. Which, to me, is the equivalent of a flustered parent doing the whole, âIf you donât behave, I am going to turn this car around,â thing. Very funny. Marty scrambles to apologize because he Does Not want to go home.
âą Little confused about the clothes Marty is described as wearing when he arrives in the future. I mean, since the opening scene to part II is just a re-shoot of the ending scene in the first movie, we know Book Marty is also wearing those same clothes: checkered shirt and red tee underneath, yes? Well, as Book Marty gets changed into his future clothes, heâs described as wearing a purple t-shirt. Purple??
Iâm sorry, that is not purple. What happened here? Didnât the guy writing this novel know that Martyâs character color is red? He wears so much red. How did this shirt being described as purple make it into the book?
âą Also!
I feel like the entirety of the first two movies can be summed up with those two sentences.
âą Iâm glad the movie went with Marlene trying to break Jr. out of jail and ending up in prison instead of the horribly depressing route the book (and script its based on) mentions. Good move.
âą Intrigued by a bit where Marty is thinking about skateboarding and it's mentioned that he skateboarded âonce or twice during the week he had spent in the 1950s.â Iâm sorry? Â Once or twice?? Mr. Gardner, I donât know about you, but we see Marty skateboard one whole time in 1955, which is not a difficult number to keep track of. Are you trying to plant a headcanon in my nogginâ in which Marty might have snuck in another round of skateboarding for funsies in 1955? Because if so, youâve succeeded.
And that's it for now. Gonna go ponder the idea of Marty doing some Secret, Forbidden Skateboading during some downtime in 1955. Perhaps I'll even picture him wearing a purple t-shirt.
Greetings, Richard here (for the second time today I'm sorry but I don't need sleep I need ANSWERS haha)
This time I would actually ask you about something a bit... Different. Idk if you did but I would be glad if you could read the first episode of my Sinner's Symphony AU (it needs updating with the new info you dropped today but that's not the point rn) and help me out with the name, I'm terrible with them. I didn't want to straight up steal one of the unused names for Sinners Symphony but come up with actually good name myself.
Right now I was thinking of something like: Orchestra of Oblivion, or Sinful Sonata, but neither really fit the theme, as well as the fact I am still working on episode 3 that is not ready to be let out.
I'm sorry for asking for so much but I can't think of a better person to help than the original creator themselves (geez it's weird constantly calling someone they/them pronouns just because you have no clue wether they're a guy or a girl or something else) and I want to impress with my work. Right now it's not much to read, but I promise there will be, since I've finally (hopefully) beat my writing block!
I hope you are having a great day/night (which I hope you had looking at your activity :D ) and I'll see you with the actual release of the AU on Ao3 where it will come as soon as i figure the site out and remaster the first episode
Sincerely, Richard đ
HI!!! AND YOU NEED SLEEP TOO!! *gentle bonk*
I couldn't find the where you published the full chapters, but I read Chapter 2 from your account and I really loved your dialogue writing.I love reading fanfics with lots of dialogue like this!!
And I seriously loved the way it handled the characters! I'm seriously looking forward to your future episodes.And after writing this article, I think I will continue to scroll your account, other eps are there, right?
I seriously think your writing is beautiful. But I recommend you use AO3 to reach more people more easily.It will be much more relaxing for you!!
I really understand you about the name and I would be happy to help!!And no, you're not asking too much, I'm glad you consulted me!
I don't know the direction your story will take regarding the name, but first review your main topic and then you can give it a title.
For example, when choosing the work for my AU, before deciding on the name Sinner's Symphony There was Redemption's Rhapsody in the options (I think that was it, I don't remember exactly)In other words, you can search for music or song terms and terms related to religion or redemption and create a name.
So you can do it this way, I'm not very good at finding names.But I don't think you should worry too much.Also, I loved the names you chose, they are both very cool.
All you have to do is do your best and have fun.As long as you love your job, there will always be people who admire you.And you don't need to strain yourself! Write when you're ready!
Thank you! I hope you have a great day too!â€ïžâ€ïž
And I can't wait for you to release the fanfic on AO3!!And don't worry, it's a seriously easy site to use, and if you're having trouble with tags, you can reference tags from fanfics previously related to SSAU!â€ïžâ€ïž
Character ai is a mess. I went back to it and lost myself in it again, but I'm back now but idk for how long. So I'm gonna like speedrun all of my writing and editing for this and the 2nd chapter. Cause holy shit, I'm gonna be hella busy in a few months. Also found out I have a small and harmless heart condition...yeah so this month been crazy.
Also made a little drawing since I was gone for a while. Hopefully Iâll be back with weekly updates now Iâm off of character ai and started to take meds for my heart.
I Saw You Once In a Dream, Maybe Pt 9
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/69515803eaa0486b989fab53f5ad26b3/d7e80d78bdb1aeb6-3d/s540x810/6ef71298e2c627d809c5770612c229e3e6afd259.jpg)
Is it too late to kick him out? He stares up at you and smirks. You can feel your face get ready as the embarrassment hits. You can't be seriously asking for him to tag along.
You might as well beg for him to come.
âCan you please, come with me? I would appreciate it, if you can. I'll even buy something for you.â
It took everything in you to stare back at him. The urge to smack him increased when his smirk widened.
How the fuck did you two got married in the future?
âOh, of course, I will come along. Especially when you asked so nicely.â He stands up and heads to the front door, giving you one last glance.
You sigh and try to calm down. Ever since running into him, your day has beenâŠwell you can't even describe it. Was it bad? Good? Meh?
You lock the door and catch up to Monkey King, who was waiting for you on the sidewalk. He gives you a soft smile.
âSo which way are we going?â
âThere's a small market nearby. It's just a short walk, 5 minutes tops.â
You walk off and try to block out any thoughts of how you prefer that smile on his face.
Monkey King nods and follows you.
âSo what are you planning for dinner? I'm not much of a cook but I can help!â He stares at you with that same soft expression.
What the hell happened?! Why is he acting all calm and sweet all of a sudden?
You continue to ignore your thoughts and how your heart was fluttering.
âI don't know, I guess we'll find out when I buy the groceries. I'm not much of a cook either. I just fall asleep and skip dinner for most nights.â
âI don't think that's healthy for a human.â He mutters. You can see he wanted to say something more.
âMaybe, but I never had a reason to make dinner. A snack or takeout was enough.â
âSo why not tonight?â
âWellâŠâ You felt nervous and embarrassed. âIt's been a while since I had someone over at my house so I just thoughtâŠthat maybe I should do something different- something special.â You didn't need to see your face to know you were blushing. You wanted to scold yourself for getting all flustered for no reason yet all your thoughts stopped when you glanced at Monkey King.
He stares at you with wide eyes.
âYou're cooking dinner because of me?â His eyes seem to shine like stars. Beaming with fondness and affection. âLooks like someone is falling for me.â
âWhat?! I just met you!â You nudge his shoulder. You wanted to get mad or at least annoyed but you just laughed. Monkey King laughs with you as he bumps his shoulder with yours. âSneakilyâ holding your hand. Intertwining his fingers with yours, his grasp firm.
You smiled at him and held his hand back. Leaning on his shoulder as you both walk to the grocery store.
Even though you two spent an hour there. You enjoyed his company. Monkey King, helping by grabbing items or just joking around and having fun. What had always been a chore for you, felt fun when he joined along.
Okay, maybe you're starting to understand why you married this idiot.
Also, you managed to buy a little more than usual since he could carry a lot of things. That was a huge plus for you, since you refuse to use your car for anything. Does that thing even work? Oh, wait, pretty sure you lost the key to it and are too lazy to get a new one.
âThank you again for helping to carry the bags back. You can place it on the counter.â
âYou bought a lot of things, how empty is your fridge?â
âShhhh, we don't talk about that. I bet you don't even have a fridge, so don't judge.â
âThere's literally nothing in here.â He said placing a few items in the fridge.
You blow a raspberry at him and put the refrigerated items in the fridge.
âI told you I usually eat a snack or takeout. I hardly cook.â
âIs it because you don't know how to cook? How worried should I be, when you serve me my plate?â
You roll your eyes.
âIf you're so worried, then I won't serve you anything.â
âHey now, I said, I would be worried but that won't stop me from eating it. Edible or not, you're serving me food you made! No way I'm passing that opportunity. Maybe I can pretend, my darling spouse made me the best dinner after a long day of work.â
âHa-ha, very funny. Are we really going to roleplay being an old married couple or what? We barely met, Monkey King.â
âWukong, you can call me Wukong.â
You raise a brow at him.
âAlright, Wukong. So we are on a first-name basis now huh?â
âI mean-â He glances away, but you can see his cheeks turning red. âI really want to have a relationship with you and it'll be weird having you calling me by my title.â
It was weird to see him soâŠembarrassed and flustered. Throughout this whole day, he has been teasing you. Maybe there were a few moments when you saw him more softly. You just laughed and ruffled his fur in his head.
âI guess you're right about that, so Wukong it is then. Now put on a show we can watch while I cook. Nothing fancy or crazy, just some regular easy and fast food.â
Wukong chuckles as he heads to the living room.
âAlright, fine, but no complaints about what I pick.â
You put away the groceries and left the ingredients out. Once in a while, glancing at the tv to see what Wukong was searching for. You head to the trash can to throw something away when you spot the stuffed toy.
A part of you felt bad for throwing it away but another part of you felt embarrassed that you even bought the toy. What would Wukong think? Would he tease you about it or be hurt that you threw it away? That's if he found out. I wonder what will be the consequences for this?
