Hey all!

For the past few years, I've suffered from varying levels of seasonal depression, especially around the holidays, and it seems like it might be rearing its ugly head again this year too.

Don't worry, I have a very good support system and a loving family, and I'm not in any personal danger. However this does make it a lot harder to draw, and a lot harder to put energy into drawing. I'm not planning on stopping this blog anytime soon, (especially since it's kind of become a comforting routine! Funny how doing something for a hundred-odd days does that to you), but until this blows over I'm probably gonna take a lot longer to answer asks.

There's also a chance I might miss a few days altogether. If that happens, I'm okay! I'm just taking a little bit of time to take care of myself :)

Quick reblog to say: I normally don't really talk about drama circulating games, as I ignore it most of the time. I JUST recently found out about all of this, so please take anything I say abt the drama with a grain of salt because I'm unsure what's true and what's not. This is only to give a quick rundown to people who are unaware of the situation. I'm also REALLY not that good at explaining things so keep that in mind as well.

From what I've heard, apparently:

Zeal kept making homophobic / transphobic "jokes" (I think there was proof for this one?)

Zeal is / was friends with a pedophile (likely a rumor, there was no proof posted about this one)

Gianni is likely quitting his role of acting as Sebastian (Idk abt this either, but if it's true, I respect his choices.)

The shipping drama surrounding Zerum (Least of our concerns, didn't this just happen also?)

I'm pretty sure this is only some of the stuff surrounding the controversy at the moment. Once again, I'm most of the time not interested in controversial news nor do I use Twitter, so I apologize if I got anything wrong. I think there's other blogs who explained the situation better than I did, so try to check those out! With all of this happening so suddenly, I'm probably not really gonna post much Pressure content for awhile (Despite not really posting much to begin with.)

little update!

hello!! I hope everyone has been well c: in my time away from this tumblr account, I've graduated from college, gone on vacation, and found a job! but I've also gotten back into writing a bit, and I've really missed interacting with my friends' fics and creations on here.

sooooo... I'll be coming back to tumblr! I'm taking some time to rebrand and set up a little return/birthday event, but if everything goes according to plan, I'll be back officially on the 17th of August!

the closer we get to the election the more i find myself trying to avoid despair as i watch more and more people actively chose to hand the election to trump and the republican party either by apathy or refusal to engage with the reality of our situation.

desantis has been governor since 2019. it feels like he's been in office for a lifetime. the state has slid so far backwards i don't recognize it and i've lived here since 1996.

the state has been a testing ground for a lot of the conservative policies they're wanting to push nationwide and it's bad. i don't even think bad is the best qualifier for how awful it is.

it's going to kill to people. it has killed people already.

we are not going to live, laugh, love our way to viable third party candidate between now and november.

we are not going to avoid sliding further into fascism by shrugging our shoulders and saying both sides are the same.

there's no glorious revolution coming any more than the rapture is.

but i do fear making it out alive of another trump presidency. that's kind of urgent for me and it's not selfish to be concerned about domestic policy as much as and if not more than international policy.

you can't help others when you are also being stripped of your rights. you think we're gonna get to protest peacefully under another trump presidency? the man who wants to assassinate rivals and wanted to sick the national guard on protestors especially when the supreme court just said the president is immune so long as it's an official act without hard lining what an official act is.

everything is on the line. vote like it.

I've been checking out the OC tags for a little while, and I can say the state of OC sharing on tumblr is in absolute misery.

We've all discussed how bad the ratio of reblogs has become, how the amount of them have been dwindling those last couple of years, but I think an extra important emphasis has to be made on original creation. Though everything is hit by the lack of sharing, fanarts at least have a tag people will look for, improving their visibility - fandom OCs are sadly shared less than fanarts, in general, but they still enjoy that same visibility.

But what of the purely original? People who have OCs belonging solely to their own world, with a tag nobody will look for? I've been seeing awesome OC art that has been sitting for days and weeks with 0 or 1 notes, sometimes 5 or 6 with luck (though most of the time only likes)... And though there are exceptions, overall, it's a frankly saddening sight.

The way for someone to get attention on their OCs is to already be a well established blog or to produce fanart on the side to build a following. Blogs solely creating original content sit at the bottom of the note pool with no escape in sight.

As much as we praise tumblr for its tagging system and the fact it doesn't kill old posts the way other social media does, it still does fail in the way of uplifting creation that isn't fandom-based.

I don't have a solution to this. It is merely a sad observation. It's only natural that people would look for what they already know and love. But in a world where all of our interactions are linked to consumerism, in a world where automation replaces human imagination, I'd love to see a community of people willing to actively search for, and uplift, the creatives that are trying to peek out of the water.

One reblog may lead to another may lead to a follow, may lead to a creator feeling like their work matters.

So I'm doing it, one reblog at a time.

At this point when errors, happen I don't even know if it's me or Tumblr's fault anymore, because like– Ok, to give you guys a peek into the clip posting process I've had to do for the past month or so:

I upload a clip, write the transcript, then write the tags.

If the clip is stuck in upload hell for more than 5 minutes, I refresh my drafts page and wait for it to show up in there.

I edit the draft, re-type the transcript that's missing (because the auto-save usually deletes half of it) and re-write the tags that are missing

Sometimes I'm able to copy over the transcript from the "still uploading" post if I don't close the tab, but occasionally, it copies transcripts of previous posts I've created (or parts of them) and I have to triple-check that nothing copied over.

I hit “post” then pray and hope the draft posts instead of getting sent back to upload hell 2.0
