i do feel like saoirse was kind of on her own in her age bracket for a while as the "young prestige Oscar-y actress" and florence pugh/zendaya/ATJ/jodie comer have all emerged within that niche recently. i also agree she doesn't choose well/have great instincts for projects and I think the strength of the Gerwig films sort of papers over that in a lot of peoples minds...she also doesnt work a ton at all which i see people praise as selectiveness but i think it works against her when theres more riding on each film and then it flops. I see so much praise for her on Reddit/Social Media and I've always felt not as high on her as others for some reason (obvi she is still very good)

You're very welcome! Thanks for the ask! It's always fun to talk about these sorts of lulls in established performers' careers. The crop of actresses in their late 20s/early 30s feels particularly stacked at the moment, and so I do think there's definitely a lot of competition for roles. All the ones you've listed are good examples, especially because I think that while their career trajectories aren't overly similar, there's also a lot of crossover like having entered the industry as a child actor in Zendaya's case, and avoiding indies outside of genre indies in Anya Taylor Joy's.

It is interesting that she's so highly regarded by film circles given how patchy her filmography is, but I do think when she shines she really shines (I adored her in Brooklyn in particular) and I think she does have pretty excellent range when she has the opportunity to show it. I actually loved her cameo in The French Dispatch a couple of years ago because it just so much felt like her playing against type, which of course goes to show that she does have a type / can be typecast.

It's had pretty mixed reviews, but I'm looking forward to watching Foe next week. I think Garth Davis is a pretty interesting (albeit flawed) director, and Paul Mescal and Lakeith Stanfield I think are definitely two of the more exciting male actors working right now. It's been a long time (almost a decade!) since Saoirse has done a thriller too, plus it's an Australian film, so y'know. Gotta support, haha.

say it with me everybody: personal health is completely immaterial to morality, including mental health. leading a mentally unhealthy lifestyle (or what you perceive as a mentally unhealthy lifestyle) does not a bad person make. no one has to socialize, exercise, have healthy coping mechanisms, or lead (what you perceive as) a fulfilling life with fulfilling hobbies in the same way that no one has to go to the doctor to get a broken bone reset. both of those types of management of personal health are likely to be beneficial to the individual, but they are in no way moral requirements or debts owed to society. they do not actually say anything about a person's principles, personality, or actions towards others. additionally, people know themselves and their own situations better than you do. maybe a person judges that the physical and financial toll of going to the doctor outweigh the benefit of getting their bone reset, maybe a person just does not have the capacity to develop healthy coping mechanisms at this point in their life, and yes, maybe a person feels like they are totally fulfilled by "media based" hobbies alone and would feel no difference in their life if they picked up a loom. just like. let people be sick without accusing them of being representative of the lazy, degenerated state of modern society.

Small dream that the supposed popularity poll movie about the most popular character(bakugou)was coming out and there was a literal trailer

I think it was after UA and after Bakugou starts professional work. Pretty sure he was working with Jeanist maybe as a sidekick. Or maybe he's about to debut as an independent hero so the world is watching him, so to speak.

The villain looked like a literal shape-shifting type, and had taken to shifting specifically as Bakugou(Dynamight), and causing trouble.

So now Bakugou has to deal with someone who is trying to tear down his status, who's committing crimes in his name, and has to reclaim his image, maybe?

I think, bc 1, there can be no Katsuki Bakugou arc without Izuku, 2, I would like to see Izuku do some cool things while he is Quirkless, and 3, Izuku would take SPECIAL offense to someone imitating/slandering/framing Katsuki and his image, Izuku would become involved in this somehow.

If it's Pre-support suit, he could be kind of an undercover or spy to help Katsuki fight back, get info, and catch the villain...if it's after that 8 yr reveal of the support suit... well, we could see him back in full action. Even his debut.

I'm thinking of this super cool shot of him grinning as he shifts into the suit, ready to go.

(Though I gotta say I like the idea of him not having the suit yet and doing some cool stuff anyway, using more of his brains than powers!!)

My personal headcanon (that no one asked about), is that our boy Loki was having a hard time after the whole New York thing and with the weird stuff that was happening in the TVA, and then he met a version of himself and maybe thought like yk we‘re kinda like the same person, maybe we can understand each other

Idk if the whole thing have him a new perspective on himself but however it went there is definitely some kind of connection going on and if it’s only because they‘re variants of the same person.

Now, I get this thing where, when I like someone, whoever it is, i start to get troubled confused because I can’t for my life differentiate between different kinds of affection/attraction, i just know it’s there (and that I don’t feel sexual attraction but that’s not the point). It gets to the point where I’m like do i want to kiss/cuddle you, love you, or be friends with you? Or do i want to BE you?!

So naturally, my personal headcanon involves Loki getting the vibe that there is some kind of thing going on (which, naturally), and that kind of messed with his head because, the whole situation is already confusing and he‘s kinda having a hard time with feelings in general. So now that he‘s confronted with a person that for once might ACTUALLY possibly be able to understand/relate to him in some way- that’s huge. And now he doesn’t know what to do. But he likes her and wants her to be ok so that has to be Love right?

Romantic love? Debatable. Not for me personally.

Of course a part of him searches for friends &/or connection because he‘s always lacked that. He probably feels like he might be more accepted by people that are like him in the closest way possible - the variant way.

The fact that they knew each other for like, a day or a week at most, and went through some serious shit, especially directly after what happened in New York & in the Time Theatre (& probably with Thanos) he‘s vulnerable. And it shows. If they‘d met under different circumstances or gotten the chance to actually get to know each other, this whole thing never might have happened.

I think it’s possible the kiss was a result of that emotional turmoil, because she saw that he cares about her, she saw the weak spot. He even tells her that he wants her to be okay if I remember correctly. So she goes for the kiss, because that is kind of a surprise for him. He‘s stunned. And that’s the moment she pushes him back and away.

I‘m not saying that Sylvie doesn’t care for Loki, i think a part of her does, but the part that wants revenge is stronger. Again, do i think whatever she feels for him is romantic? Probably not. I don’t think she feels much besides companionship for him at all actually.

In the end, I honestly don’t think they even had enough time to even make up their minds about that stuff. All that happened, in my mind-space, happened because of the circumstances they were in. Their escape, running from the TVA, fighting to get to the end of time, that stuff forges some bond. Fighting a war together always forges some kind of bond. And the emotions run high here, especially for Loki who gets poked in the feels every episode.

I don’t know if all of this is coherent or makes sense. It feels pretty much all over the place but I feel like I mostly said what I was trying to say.

Like do you get my meaning?

Emotional bond - yes. Romance - probably not.

Or something like that.

I don’t know if this makes me sound desperate or not, but it’s my take on this topic, and it’s taken me some time to wrap my head about what I personally think. And given that it’s a show and up for interpretation, i think I’m allowed to give my take to the people too. Right? Right.

No, no see because Bruce fights mainly with gadgets and his intellect. But what are most of his gadgets made of?? Oh right, metal. And what could counter-act his intellect? Telepathy. Oh yeah and he has martial arts skills too but whatever...

I know it's basically a meme that Bruce could take down anyone if given enough "prep time," and I know he's fought and won against telepaths (not sure if he's fought magnetism users before) but I still think he and Alfred would lose against Mags and Charlie.
