just a few notes before anything: many things are still being decided aboutt the story and it's still very much a trainwreck of a wip soo not much is final.

1) Does your OC have a voice claim, if so who?

Dante is a very recent OC of mine, so he was created three or four months into my Hadestown obsession. So, as inspiration for his personality (although it has strayed over time) and also as his voiceclaim, he has Damon Daunno('s Orpheus). That's why I made this animation, in fact. I was getting thoughts about him again.

2) Who's your OCs best friend? How did they become best friends?

This is the part that isn't final. I have no idea if I'm keeping the character there because I haven't figured out how it would affect the story and everything. But as of right now, his bestie would be the Espárrago. Both of them were adopted into a little, kinda dysfunctional family, but they act more like friends than siblings, mostly because the raccoon came in a while later. He didn't like them very much at first, but after actually approaching them they immadiately became pals. Note that this happened after one(1) conversation.

30) My OC and your OC are friends. This isn't a question. I'm not asking. (How do they respond?)

Dante would be very, VERY competitive. That's mostly how he gets along with everyone. I doubt he'd be outright affectionate but he'd be noticeably happier around a friend than anyone else, even though he usually acts all confident.

This is going to bring back the brainworms I can feel. Hopefully I'll make some time for myself and actually work on his story.

im fully expecting the show to go the way of the movies. it doesnt help Sea of Monsters is almost unanimously the least favorite book of the first series. People frequently forget it even exists or what happens in it, especially more casual fans.

Heck, just look at how little fanfare the second season has gotten so far as compared to the build up to s1. I wouldn't be surprised if s2 totally flops. It would be a little funny.

Luka is very good at keeping himself composed on stage, mostly with the help of maintaining track of his heart rate, but during Mizi's attack in ROMH he seemed to slip up, not only was the red background a tell-tale sign of Mizi's violent intentions but it was a more symbolic way of showing Luka in quite visceral fear. Even if for only a second.

I'm not convinced Luka will be as continuously calculated as he normally comes off, it all seems too fake to me. Because it is. It’s a similar case to Ivan who can't feel, isn't normal, isn't human enough so he makes a persona to blend in. So Luka, whoever he is, makes this version of himself to cope with what he has to live through, pretending like he's on top of it all to survive in this world.

So in round 7, I think something drastic will happen to make him 'snap' in a way.

It's safe to say that we don't know Luka. We don't know who he really is. We don't know his real desires. But we do know one thing--he is scared. he is afraid of the aliens. That's why he appeases them--being their trophy. He's only kept around for his purpose as an entertainer and nothing else and he's very aware of that. He knows very well that a dented trophy will be discarded; with that mindset, he's been able to get so far, and he's scared of losing. That's why he holds any little thing he can get his hands on close. And an important extension of that fear is his fear of losing power.

Till should be the more likely in this position, given he's such a rebel. But isn't that just too predictable? Keep in mind, that Till is a strong person. Even after all he's been through, even after he's been beaten into something more manageable for the aliens--He still hasn't lost his spark. Till is a raging storm. subdued but nonetheless a force to be reckoned with.

Round 6's effect on Till is greatly ambiguous for now but at this point when the time for round 7 comes, Till has been put through so much hell. Whatever Luka does to provoke him probably won't work, he and Luka are equally talented individuals and will make for an intense battle, and at the end of the day, the numbers won't lie. Exactly that is what Luka is ready for but scared of--a worthy opponent for the throne. Someone capable of stripping him of his power. (Is fear what makes Luka so dismissive?)

It would be so aggravating that this 'pest'. who is so indignant, so rebellious (in a way Luka envies.), could so easily destroy everything Luka has worked for, disregard every pain Luka has been through to get to this point, and Till doesn't value this throne as much as Luka does, and Luka doesn't want to feel the pain of death anymore. If his facade is as destructible as I think it is, that will be what ultimately brings out Luka.

This idea may be flawed. Luka is so perfect, too perfect and confident and experienced for something as little as that to break him, just think of all the training Luka went through to get to this point. I'm positive he's very aware of what playing unfairly will lead to. But isn't there always room for a wild card?

Just remember what happened to Hyun-woo.

What happened here isn't fully explained (and probably will be in round 7) but imagine Luka: "Trophy child, goody two shoes" Luka possibly killing another human. Whether by accident or not, what happened?--what and how did Luka feel in the moment for the repercussions of whatever happened to be that bad?

A Luka that is secretly greatly insecure, pliable, and defensive enough that in a spur of emotions, he can’t help but lose his cool in a way he hasn’t in a while because he’s afraid—just to try and prove he is still valuable. That is the type of character I theorize we'll come to see in round 7.

man I just keep thinking about it. why did colin have to ice her out after the wedding… I just feel so bad for penelope laying alone in that martial bed night after night after he seemingly forgave her for being whistledown and they get married and have such a beautiful dance and she thinks this is it, it’s resolved but he couldn’t accept her continuing to be whistledown so instead they live this silent strange life together for weeks and go to family functions together but not and they live these parallel lives instead of a life as a couple. I’m not saying colin doesn’t have a right to be upset or process his emotions but the method and timing and time it took… it’s hard to accept rn

interesting to note that mark's superhero name is for the most part actually accurate in the comics. the only people who've beaten him in combat so far are omni-man (makes sense wrt to in-universe powerscaling, plus the point of that fight was that mark would defeat his father ideologically rather than physically) and battle beast (explicitly meant to be an outlier), meanwhile show! mark gets his shit rocked in mid-tier fights every other episode. I don't have a working theory for why this specific change was made in the reboot yet but I'm open to suggestions

Canon Characters vs OC vs x Reader

Disclaimer: This is just my two cents, and my perspective on things, and I'm not trying to lay down the law for everyone. I needed to just put this to words though, in order to sleep.

I was thinking about this because of a post I saw, and some, we'll say, kind of useless comments associated with the post. Mean-spirited stuff.

Normally, in one ear and out the other, but the vibes just kicked me off down a rabbit hole of sorts an I wanted to try to put some of my thoughts to words.

First, some style vibes:

Canon x Canon Canon/Canon stories are, to me, like reading an episode of that show. I'm sitting down in front of a TV or whatever, and I'm experiencing the story As A Viewer. I like this style because I don't really have to expend much energy and I just kind of roll with whatever's happening. Generally some sort of 3rd person perspective.

OC x canon OC/Canon stories are like being on a carnival ride. I'm sitting in a car on a roller-coaster, and maybe the OC is sitting next me. I'm experiencing the story more deeply than strictly canon stories, but my connection with the OC is no deeper than say, my connection with Katniss Everdeen when I read The Hunger Games. Sometimes 3rd person, sometimes first person.

Reader x canon Reader/Canon (or Reader x/ OC) is like putting on a VR helmet. I don't get much physical input about the "Reader OC" because I'm experiencing the story through their eyes. I don't expect the reader to be me, but there's a bigger feeling of immersion to be had. Some description might happen cause it's relevant to the story, and it's still a type of ride, I can't jump the rails on the roller coaster, after all. (Even with a VN you still follow the tracks). Sometimes first person, sometimes second person (I'm partial to 2nd person perspective, but that's just me).

I love Fan Fiction, I love it. All of it, and man even more than anything, what I love is that I'm going to dislike 80% of it. Because that 80% was written for someone who is not me. (Hell, that number's probably closer to 99% if we're looking at ALL fandoms, but I digress).

Second - The VENT:

What got me the most in the post that prompted this, was someone saying "Bring back the Mary Sue OCs!" and then they went on to describe something more detailed, and I just -

Look, respectfully, fuck you.

The point is, you're not going to be happy no matter what. Whether it's "mary sue" OCs, or x readers, or alternative universes, or a ship you don't like, you're going to find something to be unhappy about.

Cause people have been bitching about all styles of fan fiction since the first "You've Got Mail" chimed in 1991. And until 1998 and ff.net you really had to hunt for it, and until 2007 and Ao3 the idea of tagging a fic for any reason wasn't really a thing. Every click was a surprise! \o/

I just have seen the same song and dance a dozen times. It's exhausting. People become okay with OCs and decide x readers are the enemy, and before that OCs were *all* Mary Sues and cringe and people who made OCs were the enemy, and before OCs people who wrote even a little OOC were the enemy, and people who wrote AUs were the enemy, and you can write fan fic but it HAS to be Canon Compliant, and everyone MUST be in-character at all times - "They would not fucking say that" was the enemy.

Look, just please - please - in any capacity, stop it with the "All X style of story telling is crap" mindset. There's over a dozen different ways to do x readers alone. I know 20 x reader writers and I don't think any of us have the same style, preferences, or vibes.

I've had a lot of comments along the lines of "I thought I hated x readers, but I really loved this." on a few different fics I've written. Sometimes it's not the style of the fic, sometimes it's the style of the writer, and my Brother In Christ - you're going to have to read some awful shit to shuffle through the thousands of writers out there to find the vibes that resonate with you.

Ostracizing entire swathes of fan fic because you need something to be "The Enemy" so you can lift up something else, and then bitching you can't find anything new to read seems like a personal problem.

And I know y'all are scrolling by TONS of posts that don't interest you, every day, as a matter of course. So don't give me that "clogging up the tag" BS, because we deserve to be here same as anyone else in the fandom.

Anon you're so right. This is roughly one million years late but for me it's gotta be season five.

I've been mulling over my thoughts on Archie and the military and the parallels with his relationship with Hiram - Archie turns down employment under Hiram to join the army where he is put into a violent, hyper masculine environment with a strict hierarchy and is taken advantage of by an older, male authority figure who manipulates him and attempts to use him as a scapegoat to cover his own crimes. Our boy is never getting out of the cycles. He even associates his trauma from combat with Hiram, at least subconsciously (see the football war dream sequence).

So he gets out of that, ends up back in Riverdale, back in his childhood home. And who is there waiting for him but Hiram Lodge? And now Archie is an adult and a veteran, a war hero. Maybe we have Hiram be a little less cartoon villain in his plans for Riverdale, maybe he can still make a halfway convincing argument he's doing what's right for the town (he isn't, he never is, but Archie always wants to see the best in people, wants to believe that even Hiram can be better). Maybe Archie thinks this time he can face Hiram on even footing, man to man. It's different this time.

And it isn't, it never is. You're never escaping the cycles.

Also there's a lot of potential for drama with Reggie having essentially taken Archie's place as Hiram's capo/boytoy and how he reacts to Hiram tossing him aside for Archie because of course he does. Reggie confronting his role as Archie replacement is always delicious to me I want the world's most problematic love triangle. And that's before Veronica has a chance to react to any of it because she's busy realizing she needs to kill her husband.
