i was asked another question on my strawpage that i felt needed a meta to properly explain my feelings, so i'm putting it here. i apologize if it gets rambly and isn't entirely coherent lol.
ford, to me, is selfish, blinded by his own obsession with global recognition, and morally questionable at times (moreso than stan) but not an outright bad person.
i think he's an overall good person with an extremely skewed worldview. he's def not bad compared to people like gideon, preston northwest, or even his own dad, but his motivations are morally ambiguous and he tends to put his own selfish obsession with global recognition, fame, and glory over the feelings and safety of those closest to him.
an argument could be made that much of his behavior can be attributed to trauma and his upbringing (his deformity, his relationship with filbrick, his social ineptitude, his fallout with stan, his violent physical & psychological abuse at the hands of bill, his experiences while dimension-hopping), though that by no means excuses it, nor is it justified. in fact, i think fans who aggressively defend ford's objectively toxic and selfish behavior with "he's been through a lot!! he's traumatized!" do his character arc a huge disservice.
ford wasnt just a scientist that was obsessed with answers for the sheer sake of knowledge and betterment of humanity—he specifically wanted to be PRAISED and officially recognized for his findings, he wanted to be added to history books, he wanted people to know HE was the one who made those discoveries, which is what makes his treatment of fiddleford during their partnership so abhorrent IMO.
he refused to destroy the portal (despite nearly losing his friend and lab partner to it) and likewise refused to simply burn/destroy his journals, both instances bc of his own stubborn pride, not bc of some noble desire to benefit mankind (or save someone ELSE, like in stan's case for restarting the portal).
whether intentional or not, he projected his own feelings and relationship with stan so harshly onto dipper that he was the indirect catalyst for their fallout in DAMVTF.
ford did more than simply offer dipper an apprentice position. he planted the seed in dipper's mind that mabel was suffocating and holding him back (despite barely knowing them or their unique relationship), because that's how he viewed stan.
he didnt just suspect that there may be potential fallout between them, he fully anticipated it, yet still thought he was doing dipper a favor by driving a wedge between them. he couldnt see past his own bitterness towards stan and ended up pressuring an impressionable 12-year-old to make a life-changing decision, one that also drove mabel right into bill's trap.
the lesson ford was meant to learn at the end of weirdmageddon was that he is NOT the selfless, noble hero he always envisioned himself as. he was a closed-off, arrogant loner who let his delusional perception of himself and who he wanted to be push everyone who mattered away and make it easy for bill to use him for his own evil purposes. ford was so stuck in this headspace that he needed a literal apocalypse and losing the one person who never stopped loving him unconditionally for him to finally pull his head out of his ass and change.
stan was the hero ford always imagined he was destined to be.
yet, despite ALL of this, there was a repressed part of him buried deeep, DEEEEP down that still held stan and their childhood close to his chest throughout his entire life. he wrote about stan in his journal constantly, he wrote that he missed him in college using their bro code (meaning he didnt want fidds to know about stan and he wrote it solely for himself), he saved a polaroid of stan in his journal and memorized his business phone number, and of course, he kept that childhood photo LITERALLY next to his heart throughout all his travels.
this is more headcanon-ish than actual canon, but i feel like ford felt angry at himself for never being able to fully leave stan behind, despite how much he "wanted" to, or how much he believed he SHOULD'VE wanted to. after all, stan was the one who sabatoged ford's future. he's the one who ruined everything between them, yet here ford was, still missing him and having second thoughts about shutting him out of his life, which only made him want to shut stan out even more.
his father and principal instilled in him that stan was a worthless fuck-up that only rode his coattails and held him back.
bill, his muse, the sun in his galaxy, tried to convince him to forget about stan and their past.
and ford tried.
but he couldn't.
even at his most resentful, even when he was fighting god-knows-what in multiple dimensions for THIRTY YEARS, he never let go of that photo. and i think that alone speaks volumes about his character.
#would u guys believe me if i said this STILL doesnt fully explain my feelings on ford's complexity lol#the man has so many layers#he's infuriating but i LOVE him sm#gravity falls#ford pines#long post

Please something with Miguel for the agenders 🙏 spicy or angsty
while this fic does not explicitly reference the reader's gender, it is still written with the intent that the reader is agender :)
Miguel O'Hara x Agender!Reader
“You don’t have to do this.”
The look Miguel gives you then is one of complete disbelief. “I don’t have to prevent the multiverse from shattering into countless tiny pieces?” He shakes his head, almost as if in disgust. “I expected resistance from Hobie, but not from you, Y/N.”
A few yards from you on the rooftop, Jess turns away; Ben is already so entrenched in his own melodrama that he hasn’t even noticed anything. As angry as you are with the both of them as well, you appreciate the privacy.
Though it’s not like you want to have this talk with Miguel, either.
“He’s just a kid,” you say desperately. “He didn’t ask for this, you know he didn’t. He wasn’t even meant to be Spider-Man.”
“But he is,” Miguel fires back. The rain is running down his face in rivulets, tracking tears down his cheeks. He pulls his mask over his head, and your chest thrums with a sudden pang. Miguel is closed-off at the best of times, and hiding his face from you now is only further accentuating just how stubborn he’s willing to be about this situation. “Purposeful or not, Miles is a Spider. And if we don’t stop him, Y/N, he’s going to tear everything apart.”
“It’s his dad,” you try pleadingly, knowing deep down just how futile this really is. “You don’t know for certain what will happen.”
“I know that Gwen’s father is also captain,” says Miguel. “She understood what was coming, and she decided to stick it out like she should.”
“But she was a liability to you, anyway.” You shake your head, desperation coursing through you. “If you ever thought Gwen would be ok with any of that, then you never knew her at all.”
“No one’s ok with it,” he spits, voice growing louder in his agitation. “You think I want this, either? I can’t control the canon, no one can. If I could, I would have - “
He falls silent.
“Miguel.” Those chest pangs have only gotten all the more devastating. “Miguel, please. Let me look at you.” You raise a hand to gently lay it on his cheek. He starts slightly, but you ignore it. “Please let me see your face.”
Slowly, hesitantly, he lifts his hands to his mask…
“There’s something on the radar,” Jess calls suddenly. “A…spot? Multiple spots? Miguel, you’d better come take a look at this.”
Miguel is silent for a moment. You have no idea of knowing what he’s thinking behind the mask - in all honesty, you’re a little afraid to know. He simply stands there, and he looks at you. You look right back, never breaking eye contact.
“Coming,” he grunts, and just like that, he’s gone, as if he’d never been speaking with you at all.
You stay on your own for a moment. Whatever’s on the radar certainly doesn’t sound good, and the four of you will have to get moving soon. But for just a second, you allow yourself to stand alone, aching, as the man you love ignores you in favor of pain.

i think it’s interesting how lucifer doesn’t give much thought to hell and its residents, esp the sinners ( who he thinks r all mistakes lol) and since rosie is a hellborn do you think that would decrease or increase a positive impression of her to lucifer ? (also her being alastor’s bestie JDJDJDJ)
i'm so excited you're asking me abt rosie & lucifer actually, bc @coppercrow's fic pin the blanket on the demon totally hooked me on their potential dynamic and i've been chewing on it ever since
so i don't actually know if rosie is hellborn as of the current canon of the show, because i know that seemed to be the consensus before s1 came out but things might've changed. assuming that she is hellborn, lucifer wouldn't immediately have the negative image in his head that he does of all sinners, even if the cannibalism thing... yuck... but she's so genuinely warm and charming in a way that wouldn't make his "fakeass ingratiating/politicking bullshit" alarms go off the way they probably did with mimzy. he'd also be more inclined to like her & be friendly with her because charlie likes her, and in fact charlie won't stop gushing about how helpful she's been, so there might be an element of gratitude too for rosie's support -- and it wouldn't tick him off like alastor's did, because alastor played up the whole dad thing on purpose to be a bitch but rosie was just honestly impressed with charlie!
also, i think lucifer has a weakness for kind, strongwilled women who take no shit, and watching rosie interact with alastor would both a) be gratifying to see alastor get fondly bullied and b) make him start to wonder if she'd drag him around like that, which, i think she would. if anyone would be charmed by the fact that he's a genuinely earnest, good-intentioned person underneath the veneer of desperate overcompensation & insecurity, it'd be rosie, who let's be honest probably loves to do charity work with hopelessly emotionally stunted men
#what was i talking about#i love rosie#lucifer#rosie#alastor#hazbin hotel#lucifer/rosie ship name? i'm coining one. for me#roseapple

Here’s a bunch of excellent stories that don’t get as much attention as I think they deserve.
Humour
i'm suffering (falling in love) by themoonisdead
Shoko is trapped in a hell of her best friends’ making - they are in love with each other, but too stupid to figure it out. So she nudges them in the right direction, because they keep dragging her into their mess and she’s had enough.
No curses AU, fluff and humour, excellent sashisu friendship content
Rating: T
10.5k words
Victim Of Local Attempted Murder Insists "He's So Into Me" by satorussuguru
Satoru annoys/harasses Suguru into going on a date with him, having convinced himself that they are meant for each other. Suguru disagrees, and also doesn’t really understand what’s happening.
Canon universe, fluff and humour, everyone is bad at feelings
Rating: G
5k words
not fake at all, send this to five people you love or else you will die instantly!!! (orphaned)
Two scammers fall in love through their attempts to scam each other. There are scam emails, scam calls, genuine mutual understanding, attempts at insurance fraud, and a scammy marriage proposal.
No curses AU, humour, Megumi is the only sane person around
Rating: T
6k words
Fluff
gods might reside in your fingertips by getou_suguru (dheiress)
Just a moment of softness and sweetness in a version of canon in which nothing hurts. Remember that time Haibara asked Suguru about what kinds of snacks to bring back? In this universe, he gets to deliver on that offer, and then Satoru has opinions about the sweets.
Canon divergence, established relationship, tooth-rotting fluff (pretty much literally)
Rating: T
2k words
our last belief by werevolche
They get to both be teachers and also totally married for all intents and purposes. This story is just a little glimpse at their domestic bliss. Satoru says something absolutely adorable, and they get to be soft with each other. That’s it.
Canon divergence, established relationship, domestic fluff
4k words
Rating: T
起死回生 | Revived from the Dead, Recovered from Hopelessness by Liquid__Sunshine
Satoru tracks Suguru down a couple of years post-defection and pesters the poor, stressed single dad to teach him how to cook. It goes much better than planned (not the cooking lesson though; that goes to shit).
Also, Mimiko and Nanako get to be adorable kids in this one.
Canon divergence, domestic fluff, cooking and eating together as a family
Rating: T
11k words
Angst with a happy ending
i’ll become your wound by imdamagecontrol
Satoru and Suguru run into each other ten years after their break up. Satoru has Big Feelings about it. There are sweet, fluffy flashbacks of them falling in love, and the ending is so lovely.
TW: Questionable decisions are made while both parties involved are drunk. It’s never addressed or seen as a bad thing by the characters.
No curses AU, non-linear narrative, second chances
Rating: E
23k words
Drawing the Map by MemeKon
Suguru doesn’t murder a village and Satoru goes after him instead of wallowing in grief. They have an honest to goodness conversation about their feelings and the future. It’s great.
Canon divergence, fix-it, developing relationship
Rating: T
3.5k words

bi-widower-dads' February Fic Rec: AUs
Thank you to everyone who submitted recs for us! We've done some sorting and collating, and we've got two posts for you: AUs and Canon-'verse - and a whole load of excellent fic for you to get stuck into while we wait for Barduil Month in April! So without further ado, here are the AUs for you, with a little bit about why our recommenders love them...
Header image by mod @piyo-13!
(a note about tags and trigger warnings: tags are selected from those on AO3 as being those that best describe the story for the purposes of this event; trigger warnings are supplied by the recommenders and may not be comprehensive - your mileage may vary. We've tried our best to include Tumblr handles wherever we can, but if we've missed yours out and you want it included, just let us know!)
One-shots
In the Wake of the Second Horseman by EldritchMage / @eldritchmage | M | 2272 words | tags: angst with a happy ending, implied/referenced drug use, post-traumatic stress disorder - PTSD, implied warfare/violence | trigger warnings: mention of drug use, mention of violence in a war zone, PTSD, nightmares
Summary: When addiction threatens to consume Thran, his lover Bard is desperate to help - but Thran isn't. Yet in ending his relationship with Bard, Thran savages both of them, not just himself. Four years later, Thran's about to discover what remains from his cruelty. What he finds is a surprise - and humbling. What do you love about this fic? Even when things fall apart, redemption is possible if you give it half a chance. Out of tragedy comes hope and a chance for a better life.
love remains by likethenight / @nocompromise-noregrets | G | 11,093 words | tags: alternate universe - modern setting, grief/mourning, Thranduil never sailed west, mythical beings & creatures, folklore, alternate universe - reincarnation | trigger warnings: none
Summary: There is a legend in Dale, that somewhere deep in the forest that borders the city lives the forest king, an ancient being with a special care for archers, and for all things that grow. Bard, camping in the woods after his finals, finds a place that isn't on any maps and begins to dream of something - someone - familiar; and years later, after the heaviest loss he has ever had to bear, he goes back out there again, hoping to find something that might help him recover. What do you love about this fic? Absolutely beautiful fic, such a touching story and excellent writing!
Petrichor by b_ofdale_archive / @beesinspades | G | 14,598 words | tags: alternate universe - reincarnation, alternate universe - modern setting, alternate universe - bookstore, books and cats | trigger warnings: slight mention of past life character death
Summary: It's been six thousand years since Thranduil last laid eyes on his husband - Bard. The world has changed and the great Elvenking with it, lingering in the shadows of Men; as hope for a miracle festers within his heart that grows weaker with every passing day, the only thing keeping him going is a promise he made, many moons ago. What do you love about this fic? I love its overall theme, and the thought that Thranduil will meet Bard again. A lovely and poetically written reincarnation AU, well worth the read!
Multi-chapters: in progress
Love in a time of change by myeaglesong / @myeaglesong | M | 22,840 words | tags: eventual relationships, eventual romance, elf/human relationships, fluff, romance, slow burn, alternate universe - regency, oblivious Bard | trigger warnings: none
Summary: For the longest time, Thranduil has wanted to find a good match for his son, Legolas, to marry. His search leads him to consider Arwen for Legolas to marry, but what if Legolas has already got his eye set on another match that Thranduil may not approve of? What will will happen when Legolas finds out about his father's intentions to marry him off? What would happen when the question of if Thranduil were to marry again was to come up, who could he marry? What do you love about this fic? I am not usually one for Regency AUs but this one is so adorable, and between the kids and the dads there is plenty of potential for shenanigans and some tentative romance! I'm really looking forward to seeing how events unfold…
The Moth Effect by BiSquared / @scary-grace and Dogblessya / @dogblessyoutascha | M | 35,658 words | tags: mothman is real, mothman Thranduil, mothbaby Legolas, park ranger Bard, non-graphic violence, but there is still gore so you've been warned, twilight references | trigger warnings: mothman lore, gore
Summary: (in chaos theory) the phenomenon whereby a mothman moving into your place of employment can have a large effect on the rest of your life. What do you love about this fic? I love the Supernatural/Horror element to it and Park Ranger Bard trying to make sense of all the really weird s**t that's happening around him. Lovely bits have to be the introduction of Mothman Thranduil and adorable Mothbaby Legolas. But best of all is that Mothman Thranduil isn't the weirdest thing happening in Olympic National Park 👀….
Vena Amoris by Patch / @patchoffeathers and Piyo13 / @piyo-13 | M | 72,843 words | tags: crossover with Dracula Untold, alternate universe - vampires, Bard is Dracula, canon-typical violence, slow build, alternate universe - some people live/not everybody dies | trigger warnings: none
Summary: Bard has a secret, one that stems from far to the east, in lands far forgotten and times long past. It's one that no one must know—but times are changing for the people living on the lake. Even for those who, technically, aren't alive. What do you love about this fic? The author does such a great job at merging Luke Evans' two characters here (Bard and Dracula) while still keeping Bard distinctly canon-shaped. Because Dracula!Bard is an immortal, there's a unique comparison of mythological immortalities and the relative costs of them that reflects back onto the plot.
show a little faith, there's magic in the night by BiSquared / @scary-grace | M | 342,922 words | tags: alternate universe - modern setting, slow burn, music industry AU, indie musician Bard, opera singer turned pop star Thranduil | trigger warnings: none
Summary: Bard Bowman's not the type to give up on his dreams easily, but when DJ Smaug's dirty tricks leave his family band stranded in Denver with a forfeit fee the size of Mt. Everest crashing down on their heads, there's really nothing to do but drink about it. The last thing Bard expects is to meet a beautiful stranger in a similar predicament -- and the last thing either of them expects is a rescue. Luckily for them, Thorin Oakenshield's feeling heroic this evening. What do you love about this fic? I am such a sucker for the rock scene (I've spent my entire adult life kicking about there) and it's not often I see it portrayed so realistically in fic (or indeed in original fiction). The characters are all beautifully drawn, the humour frequently makes me chuckle, and Bard going head over heels while trying to tell himself he isn't, it's not happening, not really, because he can't believe his luck, makes my heart go all funny.
Multi-chapters: complete
Followthrough by ofplanet_earth / @ofplanet-earth | M | 26,737 words | tags: alternate universe - modern setting, alternate universe - military, alternate universe - spies & secret agents, snipers, sniper Bard, military captain Thorin, mob boss Smaug, revenge, character death | trigger warnings: violence
Summary: Bard and his children have been living in a little cabin on the edge of Laketown for five years, hiding from Bard's dangerous past. But when that past comes back to haunt them, Bard will have to team up with Thorin and his company to face down his demons, confront the man who killed his wife, and fight to save the people he loves. What do you love about this fic? Great spies/military AU with Bard and the gang!
The grey sea and the long black land by Black_knight100 and Blueberryrock / @blueberryrock | T | 29,702 words | tags: alternate universe - modern setting, alternate universe - cruise ship, first kiss, angst, fluff, angst with a happy ending, eventual romance | trigger warnings: quite angst filled but has an eventual happy ending
Summary: Bard Bowman is thirty-seven years old, widowed and heckled, and he's had enough. If his children want a cruise trip with their lottery money, then so they will have. Bard will only have to work twice as hard to take them out of their little corner of the world. It has been three years. Three years of him raging, and sobbing, and grieving. Three years in which he has turned away from his children. Three years to reach this ship, to put together whatever snapped that day. And the first morning, Thranduil wakes up late. It is going fabulously. Or, in which the two meet on a ship, and there are ups and downs. What do you love about this fic? Thranduil and Bard getting together in the end
Modern Love by Shampain / @abner-krill | M | 65,267 words | tags: alternate universe - modern setting, alternate universe - coffee shops and cafés, alternate universe - human | trigger warnings: none
Summary: Bard is a down on his luck single father working a thankless job as a courier, eternally worrying over when his daughter is going to start sneaking out of the house with boys. As if that wasn't bad enough, his assignments delivering files to Greenleaf Acquisitions puts him in contact with Thranduil, a stern businessman whose only champion is his assistant, Tauriel. And finally, to make matters worse, his friendship with Bilbo Baggins sends everything else into a tailspin. The summer is just beginning, and it's going to be a weird one. What do you love about this fic? Lovely, lighthearted modern AU that is a delight to read!
hands; eyes; voice by bishkebab / @bishkebab | T | 70,163 words | tags: slow burn, alternate universe, accidental cottagecore, governess/single dad romance but make it gay, autistic Thranduil, Thranduil and Bard both have physical disabilities | trigger warnings: mention of autism, fire accident, PTSD
Summary: An isolated life in a too-small cottage was never what Bard dreamed of for his children – especially sharp, scholarly Tauriel and sensitive, insightful Tilda. But school is a distant dream for a large family living off the land – at least until a storm and the subsequent house fire bring a former scholar to their doorstep. Wealthy recluse Thranduil could never have anticipated leaving his family's manor for a shack in the woods and a single father with five – FIVE – children who can barely write ten words between them. But when disaster strikes, he is left with little choice – and maybe close quarters with a handsome widower won't be so bad after all... What do you love about this fic? This is a rare work of art in which Bard is the loveliest dad ever, stubborn, strong and gentle and Thranduil is an introverted autistic lonely lad. The author writes their story in a very poetical way and family is the main protagonist of the story, as is their small cosy cottage. I do love the gentle feeling this story conveys from the start. It feels like a warm cup of tea after a very rainy day and each word is carefully written. This story deserves to be read and reread and rereread. Slowly. (With a nice cup of tea. <;3)
Those Colours We Share by b_ofdale / @beesinspades | M | 84,709 words | tags: alternate universe - soulmates, alternate universe - post-war, set in 1956, Bard owns an animal shelter, slow burn, fluff and angst, disabled character, asexual characters, period-typical homophobia | trigger warnings: none
Summary: Had anyone told them, Thranduil Oropherion and Bard Bowman would never have believed they would see the world painted in colours again. Until that fateful day of December 1956, when one little boy entered a former soldier's animal shelter. What do you love about this fic? I'm a sucker for two lonely people who find each other and forge a new life together.
Beast by Nuredhel / @nuredhel | M | 132,354 words | tags: alternate universe - modern setting, all humans, Bard is a cop, Thranduil is a profiler, mentions of suicide, slow burn, crime and investigation, bonding while working, romance, past problems | trigger warnings: gore, violence, abuse, human trafficing, child abuse, murder, suicide
Summary: Bard Bowman is the leader of a team of investigators trying to solve a very complicated case, when the serial killer they are chasing proves to have a far longer history than they expected the feds call in a profiler. Bard has never believed he could feel attraction again but now he does, how can he express what he feels when they are chasing a beast which seems to defy the very laws of nature? Can Thran feel the same way? The road to love can be bumpy, in special when it is surrounded by murders. What do you love about this fic? It is very exciting, very romantic and intense.
seeking a friend for the end of the world by BiSquared / @scary-grace | M | 238,799 words | tags: alternate universe - modern setting, apocalypse, road trips, family issues and family bonding, opera singer Thranduil, Bard and Thranduil are good parents who are having a bad year, or years | trigger warnings: disease-apocalyptic setting, zombies, major character death, medical injections
Summary: Between dealing with his boss, getting over his ex-wife, and keeping his kids fed and clothed, Bard has more than enough on his plate. He doesn't have time to worry about the frightening rumors coming out of New York City or the lunatic in his service bay who tells him to take his kids and run. But when he stops to help a mysterious stranger on the side of the road, he gets a lot more than he bargained for -- a sexuality crisis, a partner in crime, and maybe, just maybe, a chance for all of them to make it out of this mess alive. What do you love about this fic? Incredible worldbuilding and an edge-of-your-seat plotline! The bonds between all the characters are just beautiful, and it has great worldbuilding. The action is also really well written, and it does tension/dramatics right.
In The Woods Somewhere by Ias / @hubristicfool | M | 249,074 words | tags: alternate universe - modern setting, vampires, vampire Thranduil, mechanic Bard, blood drinking, slow burn, dark, angst, violence, horror, psychological horror, unhealthy relationships | trigger warnings: vampires, blood, angst, sexual content, violence
Summary: These country roads were rarely traveled by any that didn't need to. When Thranduil pulled up beside the man's stopped vehicle and offered him a smile and a ride, there was no one to see the man's grateful expression as he slipped into Thranduil's car. No one to stand by and call out a warning as the taillights were swallowed by the dark branches of the trees. What do you love about this fic? The writing is excellent
Angels and crooks by Nuredhel / @nuredhel | M | 259,072 words | tags: sequel to Beast, alternate universe - modern setting, all humans, Bard is a cop, Thranduil is a profiler, solving crime, family, violence, drug abuse, everyday life at a police station | trigger warnings: violence, abuse, dark stuff, murder, blood, evil, deviousness
Summary: Bard and Thran are getting used to their new life as a married couple, and their new responsibilities as a family. But they still have their jobs and my oh my does that bring some interesting situations and challenges into their existence. Having both experience and special gifts does help, but at times reality can be more bizarre than anyone can expect. What do you love about this fic? It is a good story with very interesting twists and many great characters
When The Pale Swan Flies by EldritchMage / @eldritchmage | E | 290,646 words | tags: alternate universe - modern setting, circus performer Thranduil, cabinet maker Bard, Thranduil's name is Luka, Bard's name is Taliesin (which is Welsh for Bard), slow burn, Thranduil needs rescuing and Bard is happy to do it | trigger warnings: sexual abuse mentioned, underage sex mentioned, prostitution/pimping mentioned
Summary: A year ago, when a carpenter met a caged bird, his good intentions left despair in their wake. Is he a fool to hope he can atone for his missteps? What do you love about this fic? It's got circus acts! It's got two sad men learning to trust and love again! It's got an epic visit to a grocery store! It's got bad guys getting their just desserts, and everyone else getting delicious Spanish teacake! It's got a cute little boy who finds his voice while making puppets! There's a sad short-story prequel to set the stage, as well! And who doesn't like a parade?
Season of Light and Shadow by EldritchMage / @eldritchmage | E | 914,703 words | tags: alternate universe - modern setting, Thranduil is a ballet dancer, Bard is a building super and welder (and artist), slow burn, NSFW, blended family | trigger warnings: momentary violence, momentary mention of drug use, adult bedroom games
Summary: It's the week before Thanksgiving. In an apartment building somewhere in the middle of New York City, the mood is far from festive. Upstairs in Apartment 5B, an injured ballet dancer is having a rotten day. He's lost his job, he's had to walk home in the snow and rain, getting thoroughly soaked and frozen in the process, and the radiators in his rooms are as cold as the New York City streets. He limps downstairs to vent his fury on the night super who didn't fix the heat. Downstairs in Apartment 2A, the night super is also having a rotten day. No money, three overtired and cranky children, a slapdash boss, and not nearly enough sleep. And now someone is pounding on the door like a SWAT team. When an angel knocks on the door of a saint, neither finds what he expects. But with a little luck, the upcoming holiday season might give them both something to treasure. What do you love about this fic? It's two lonely men forging a blended family! It's got ballet! It's got home renovation! It's got four cutie children! It's got cooking! It's got an artist regaining the wherewithal to make his art! It's got lots of cool side characters (ten points to everyone who spots all the Dwarves :-). It's got lots of steamy love! It's even got 3 short follow-up stories! What's not to like?????? This was my introduction to the world of modern AUs with these two, and oh, it's SO GOOD. The kids are brilliant and so realistically drawn, and the dads are - well, they're incredibly hot. XD And the development of the relationship between them is beautifully done, as they go head-over-heels for each other while trying to take things slowly for the sake of the kids…oh, it's great. :D

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
my hot take is that everyone's opinion on bruce as a parent is wrong. people fight about whether bruce is a good dad or if hes abusive and personally i believe there is nuance.. i dont think that any watsonian interpretations of bruce as a father are worth talking about. bc yes he is abusive because he does hit his kids often HOWEVER its always like. making a point within the story. to say "bruce is a terrible father because he slit jason's neck to stop him from killing joker" is true but most of what that scene was doing was making a point about the downfalls of bruce's moral code but also how bruce sticks to it. it feels kinda ridiculous to me to talk about any scene where bruce is hurting his kids without talking about what the writer was trying to do and what purpose it was playing in the story. especially because pretty much every scene where he beats his kids is being used to show that bruce has gone off the deep end. thats not to say hes secretly a good father or that him beating his kids is fine actually, but im just saying that it feels wrong to point to a scene where bruce is hurting his kid and say "look! its proof that hes abusive!" without also acknowledging the doylist analysis of the scene. BUT on the other hand i think a watsonian analysis is fine when youre talking about being emotionally abusive, because he is very clearly manipulating and/or neglecting his kids and its usually the author's intention to show exactly that
^ i hope that all makes sense i have no idea. i have thoughts in my brain and its hard to make them words
9. worst part of canon
answered here but i'll go again! its the fact that batman is showing up Everywhere. there are multiple batman books happening at any given time and batman is popping up in other people's books and when he's not there he'll always be mentioned. im tired of him. get him out. ill be reading a green lantern book then hal says "i wonder what batman would think about this 😵💫" i dont know!!! i dont care!!!!!!!! can we stop mentioning him every five seconds! ! ! it pissed me off so bad in winick's green arrow when batman was popping up in every other arc like leave me alone!! please!!!!! get out!!!!!!
10. worst part of fanon
well building off that answer ^ its the same thing! there are bats everywhere!!! you go into any character tag and its always people talking about their relationship to a bat. if you scroll for more than 10 seconds in a non-bat character's tag you'll always find some kind of batfam incorrect quote blog who either tagged a post without them in it or put them in for a 1 sentence that manages to be heinously out of character. im so tired of seeing jason in the tags of characters who have never even met jason. fanon and canon are basically feeding off each other to center the bats in everything so that no other characters get any attention

What happened to Lilith? (Hazbin Hotel theory)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/03bf18dc71d982263b24950dcd4cc7ad/6a9ed354195391fc-44/s640x960/052449d0db5ab9f8c9562cdd6d23ee5059ffcd3c.jpg)
As we all know, Vizziepop kept an aura of mystery around some characters and things in the show. I think that the character that got che fans more theories is actually Lilith. I’ve read and listened a lot of theories and opinions about her, and since some time I wanted to share mines.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a901ed92935eaa7837596daf51bed04f/6a9ed354195391fc-43/s540x810/1e345a39c995423690ea676180f49d51fc791b7a.jpg)
What do we know about her?
In the serie, exception made for other sources of informations (like instagram posts or lives) we can tell some things. We actually know that she was the first woman and Adam’s wife, even before Eve. In the first episode they said : “From the dust of Earth they created Adam and Lilith, equals as the first of mankind, but despite this Adam demanded control and Lilith refused to submit to his will. She fled the garden. Drawn in by her fierce independence, Lucifer found her, and the two rebellious dreamers fell deeply in love.” Then the two of them tempted Adam and Eve with the fruit of knowledge of good and evil. In the book that Charlie reads at the begin of first episode it’s said that ‘they wished to share the magic of free will with the humanity’, and that makes me think that this book was written with the perspective of Lucifer (we can see in the serie that he is deeply sad about the effects of free will on the humanity, he was sincere, but I think that he regrets doing it) so I think that we don’t actually know what Lilith’s purposes were, but for now we don’t have any clue that she had hidden intentions, or at leas not completely.
“But with this fruit EVIL found it’s way on Earth.” For this they were sent in Hell. But while Lucifer became more and more sad, Lilith thrived with her songs and her powers blossomed. So we actually know that she took advantage from the whole situation, and I think that she must have cared a lot about Hell’s situation because her powers depended by this. Well, she then married Lucifer and they had Charlie. But now, in the current timeline it’s said that they split up and she is now missing since seven years.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d4413ac8cc4109c519ba4ebde0b69079/6a9ed354195391fc-71/s540x810/366dc3fd82dcb2197a7137732c6f7c47f94f74f5.jpg)
The divorce and ‘More than anything’.
As we know, her and Lucifer split up. We don’t actually know why the two of them separated, but we surely know that at least for Lucifer has been much suffered separation (considering that he still wears his ring). It’s weird, because Vivienne said that they were a canonically very close and sugary copule, and looking at all the portraits in Lucifer’s room they seemed a very happy family. I know that this means nothing, but still they didn’t even give a hint about the reasons of their divorce. I can see the first cracks of the family in the flashback of ‘More than anything’, something about this whole scene feels a bit off. I’m not talking about the fact that we didn’t see Lilith’s face (because this can perfectly be a directorial choice for focus the song on the father-daughter relationship), but in the way that they made us see her (probably with Charlie’s perspective). I don’t know, something feels wrong about how she picks up Charlie and take her away. It’s not what I think the woman that we saw in the portraits would have done, or at least she wouldn’t have been presented with this obscure aura around her. It’s like she was trying to take away Charlie from her dad, even if Lucifer doesn’t seem worried or sad when Lilith picks her up. Was it probably at the beginning of the problems in their relationship? Charlie doesn’t seem completely sure in her mother’s harms.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/69fa7df426761bb00e88f116e8eab00a/6a9ed354195391fc-62/s540x810/bbb425bfe5232987e858a9f2ccc4cb89092de11a.jpg)
The differences with the portraits and…
the similarities with Eve?
I’m not saying a lot about this because a lot of creators already pointed it out, so if you want to see more differences go to check other video that compares them.
If you want to see more of it go to check other channels of blogs.
Taking up again the flashback of ‘More than anything’ I think that it’s uncanny the similarities between Lilith and Eve. I mean we don’t actually know Eve’s appearance, and why keep her hidden and mystify it? Yes, it’s probably because they wanted to make that book sound like a tale , but still… The hair, but especially their smiles are very similar. (I mean the similarities between how Eve is represented in the first episode and the woman who is ‘supposed’ to be Lilith in ‘More than anything’).That makes me think that Lilith and Eve are indeed similar, but at the same time different: like two identical twins with small differences in style (Lilith’s hair are in general slicked back, but in the flashback she has bangs) and facial features (many pointed out the nose). This make sense because in theory Eve was meant to be like a substitute for Lilith, and probably the paradise wanted another woman attractive as Lilith (or in general that Adam liked) but more submissive. I think that even the card of Lilith (in the merchandise) it’s weird. I mean, it’s not like we never saw Lilith’s canonical appearance… so it feels weird, because she resembles more Eve than Lilith. (If you want go to check the official card).
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/da1d33e6b02bd64e8405b7a747404bce/6a9ed354195391fc-53/s540x810/35e9f134c8cd6d75d39203802391544f9240ae2b.jpg)
The final scene and the final theory.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/90f332891d94882bc3e190fd91d62e84/6a9ed354195391fc-e3/s540x810/4aefdb9af84f3c39264152f3675f9c71b9da8cc4.jpg)
So, in the final scene Lilith made her first appearance as a character. In this scene, Lute, probably not a lot after the final battle goest to her and says: “Adam is dead, your deal is done and I’m in charge now. Your brat is threatening the very foundation of heaven and if you want to stay here you are going down there and stopping that bitch you understand me, Lilith?”.
Well, let’s begin (I’m gonna make you wish that I stayed… wait no):
So, as we know Lilith has been missing from hell since seven years. Honestly, after analyzing their appearances, the differences and the similarities, I feel that the woman that we saw in ‘More than anything’ and we are seeing in this scene is not Lilith, but Eve.
We know that Eve, some time after her creation ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, all under Lucifer’s temptation (who temped her with Lilith’s help) proposed the same to Adam, and for this they lost their innocence and Evil made it’s way in the Earth. We know how ended up for Adam, but none mentioned Eve (beside Charlie in the first scene). What if for being the first one that bite the fruit of knowledge she was banished from Heaven (or Eden) even after death?
Let’s think about it, that someone made Eve give into temptation, and after her death they made a deal with her. Then Eve replaced Lilith, took away Charlie by Lucifer and split up with him (for destroy the most powerful family of hell). And under the name of Lilith she made a deal with Lucifer, Sera and Adam for start the extermination. Responding to the fears of Sera (or the paradise in general?) about the increasing power of the sinners, and gaining the grace again (remembering that in fact, Lilith never ate the fruit and remained immortal). She earned under the name of Lilith the right to stay in the Eden. I have a theory that Sera or in general all the thing was manipulated by Roo (the incarnation of Evil, but still I don’t have any clue). In fact, Eve did all this for gain again the lost status, and probably for revenge against Lilith and Lucifer.
Because in fact, beside all the affection and family thing, why Lilith would have decided to damage the sinners that made her powers blossom? That wouldn’t make sense!
(P.s. I think that the fact that Alastor went missing seven years it’s related to this, but I don’t think that he made a deal with ‘Lilith’, but with Zestial, at least considering the details of the ‘deal scene’ with Charlie. Still I don’t know how.)
This is what I think happened, but, unfortunately I don’t know where the real Lilith,Igor actually be.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/90f332891d94882bc3e190fd91d62e84/6a9ed354195391fc-e3/s540x810/4aefdb9af84f3c39264152f3675f9c71b9da8cc4.jpg)
That’s all dears, thanks for reading!
What do you think about this theory?

What's so cool about the way UT aus evolved
For many years I would draw and sketch and stuff. Not all of it was spectacular, but it wasn't bad. Yet, at some point or another I would end up ripping the drawing up or throwing it away. It was never out of malicious intent. I just did it. I don't know why either; it wasn't like I disliked the drawings.
So, I discovered the insanely large and depth-y fandom of Undertale. Pretty soon, I started reading about the star sanses and bad sanses. I put a lot of effort into figuring out the canon (fanon since none of it was canon???) truths about the characters and what was fanon (like what Blue's deal actually was). As I was reading comics I came across a alternate multiverse where Error was a chaotic child and Ink was a tired dad. In the comic (I wish I could remember what it was called so I can credit the artist) Error makes friends with these shadow creatures. They lead him to help destroy an au that the artist seemingly wanted gone. Ink later finds/kidnaps him and brings him home. Ink explains that many creators, for whatever reason, want to destroy their work. But in the long run, it's not what they want. He says that everything, no matter how "bad" it is deserves to exist. Just so someone knows it's there. Even if it isn't shared with the world, that doesn't matter.
After reading that comic I thought about Ink. He's a soulless creature seeking to feel things by feeding off the beautiful work creators and him make. I think, perhaps unintentionally perhaps intentionally, Ink is a metaphor for artists and creators (the non-canon kind). We seek validation or happiness or even any emotion from the things we and others create. We could be having trouble with finding our own emotions outside of the internet. It's okay to need to escape our lives for a little bit. It's not a bad thing if you have an idea to share at all. Helping others feel better is good too. But just like Ink we have to be careful not to let it consume our lives. We can't let fandoms be the only way we can feel. We have to generate emotion in other areas of our lives as well. We have to make sure our community isn't only online. We have to make sure that what we say online is safe, and that we are not unintentionally exposing ourselves to dangerous people.
Next, I addressed Error. He too, can be a metaphor. He reflects the opposite side of the spectrum. He is has been so hurt in the past, even if he doesn't understand how, that he feels the need to hurt others. He could be compared to a hater, but I don't like that term. Hurt people hurt people, and while that doesn't make internet hate okay or justified by any means, it can offer and explanation. People who say mean things about art (actually mean and baseless things, not voicing an opinion) are probably seeking attention. The want to fight with you because the consequences don't seem real. You have no idea what's going on in their lives, just like they don't know you. When they seek that attention, don't give it. Walk away in the metaphorical internet sense. If you need to, block them. But don't fight hate with hate. It never works. We have to love the people who hurt us or it's no use in saying we aren't like them. If you remember saying something mean on the internet, I'm sorry for you. Even if you don't believe it, there are people who love you. So, so many people.
Neither of these characters were created for this purpose. They weren't even meant to go together. But still they make a beautiful world for everyone to enjoy. So whether you are an artist or a reader, an Error or an Ink, whether you are like me or not, we built this sorta by accident, so let's appreciate how cool it is.

♡ day 7: kenny payne ♡
oh em gee chat one week ! so we're in the final stretch starting with kennyyyy i'm gonna try not to yap too much this time since i went so overboard with devon :,(
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/aaff08155c270781c1ba6f50c6767239/9dace70f5e0015b4-4b/s500x750/46aeae38d105450efd7ea567123fbd3cf38cc427.jpg)
so much like devon, kenny has been very special to me since he was introduced.
something that could be said for the whole younger cast is that the writers definitely crammed too many characters into the show halfway through and got stuck with a dozen half-baked characters BUT that doesn't mean they're not still cool, that just means the fandom gets to create personalities for them !
so kenny BEFORE his brainwashing was so cutie, his dr. scribblebottoms cosplay was precious, 100% convinced lia would've loved it if it was really her and not anthony.
one thing i notice a lot with kenny is people comparing him to hawk, and i do think he's a lot like if eli didn't have demetri. hawk gets his villain arc either way but how much would he have been able to take had he not had demetri by his side? how much sooner would he have snapped? that's kind of the answer with kenny.
obviously they aren't perfect parallels, and i personally associate kenny with demetri more, but they work bc this was probably the writers' main intention.
with demetri, eli's kind of content to let him do the talking and at least has someone who he can call a friend. in all the time we saw kenny as a new kid, lia seemed to be the only person that was nice to him (which is meant to parallel daniel obvi but still). and TECHNICALLY, since the writers hate me, demetri and eli were never romantic (i call bullshit but i can pretend to not see chemistry for this purpose) so kenny's only friend is also his crush which makes things all the more complicated in trying to talk to her and spend time with her bc he's nervous ! and flustered ! so he doesn't have that same support system that eli did (what little he had anyway) so it's a lot easier for him to do that 180 instead of the gradual one we saw with hawk. (this is also me rationalizing the speed run of kenny's arc for the sake of getting him in that cobra kai headspace by the end of the season but i digress)
i hope the writers give us more soft kenny moments, like the scenes he had in s6 so far are so cute and i love them. he deserves to be happy, petition for more scenes with shawn, would love for his parents to make one last cameo at the all-valley/sekai taikai
also his relationship with robby is so important to me and i hope we get a moment in this last part where they talk one last time (like i'm hoping for with devon/tory) THE KEENRY KIDS NEED TO HAVE ONE LAST HEART TO HEART WITH THEIR PARENTS
also the fact that he's canonically one of the best fighters (i genuinely think with more time and training, he's going to be the best fighter, even better than the core four) and he wasn't even training that long.
AGAIN LIKE DEMETRI SAID cheap shot notwithstanding, but he's definitely fast and strong. and unlike demetri, he found a way to use his intelligence AND his speed to make him a really strong and incredible fighter that could for sure put up a good fight with any of the main six.
i personally don't love his dark era, it's really good from a character standpoint. like i stated before, he lacks that support system with his dad is serving, shawn is in juvie, his mom (if i remember correctly) is busy with work and obviously under a lot of stress without her oldest son and her husband. and he's the new kid at school that got ruthlessly picked on by anthony and his friends for pretty much no reason other than them being rich little jerks. and he's kind of a wimp, he's goofy, he likes spending his free time on dungeon lord, it made a lot of sense for terry to exploit that and for kenny to turn against robby in s5.
and his relationship with terry in general is so cool like i love that each sensei kind of has a favorite (kreese and silver through more...nefarious intentions) and i love that terry's is kenny bc like i said, the main intention with a lot of these characters is meant to parallel and emulate daniel and johnny. it's always brought back to daniel and johnny, that's like the number one rule of the ck writers room. TERRY exploits KENNY the same way he exploited DANIEL but instead of doing it for revenge on kenny, he does it for revenge on DANIEL. it's so perfect. it's the perfect full-circle moment. and it almost works too. terry, personally, is so truly evil and the fact that he molds kenny (and the other ck kids) into perfect child soldiers while ruining every aspect of daniel's life so he can target daniel and his kids is mind-blowingly wicked. tyring to elevate my hater game to terry silver level fr.
like i hate terry and kreese with a PASSION but lowkey terry did what kreese couldn't, and that deserves to be applauded bc yeah he had those kids not even really questioning things (mainly bc they're background extras) other than tory and devon. and he almost succeeded incredibly but he overlooked one tiny detail, the power of trauma-bonded gay teenagers (samtory, kiaz, and hawkmetri <3) if it weren't for the power of homosexuals the core six, daniel genuinely wouldn't have managed to overcome terry's mind games. johnny, chozen, and mike pushed him, sure, but that final kick at the flagship dojo wouldn't have happened without the kids breaking in and exposing silver. (i have a love-hate relationship with season five for this exact reason like why is it so complicated and evil but so basic? could i have written it better? probably not, but i can still criticize it)
but again personally i love his fighting and his softer moments, i hope we get like an epilogue of kenny and anthony being friends (lowkey ship kenthony too)
also the writers cooked SO HARD giving him the last name payne, they ate with that one little thing !!
!! headcanons !!
bc my fav characters are all the nerds, kenny's gotten a lot of overlap already between demetri, hawk, devon, and anthony; so for more hc, defo go check those lists out !! :3
kenny was obviously really close with his brother growing up; even when shawn made fun of his dorky stuff, he still knew all about it because kenny loved it
kenny doesn't know and never entirely will but a lot (if not all) of his presents when he was little were either bought or informed by shawn, since he knew him the best (robby like kind of knows about this but obviously never tells kenny)
daniel and johnny don't interact much with kenny at first, even after the sekai taikai, but amanda, robby, devon, and hawk keep pushing for him to get more acquainted with the rest of miyagi-do/the senseis and he eventually becomes just as cared for as everyone else
speaking of, amanda has basically adopted him and tory as her pseudo-children. (daniel has sam and robby, johnny has miguel and devon, chozen has hawk, amanda has tory and kenny)
while amanda isn't as big of a presence for kenny as she is for tory (since he still has his parents and his brother), she does frequently check in on him and invite his family to various events (which means so much to kenny's mom) (amanda and kenny's mom being besties, iktr)
he gets a few good months of bonding with hawk before he leaves for college (either he's moving away or he just takes time from the dojo because he's busy) and they both unintentionally help each other work through their complicated relationships with anthony and demetri (the unmentioned understanding of someone being your worst enemy and one of the people you care about most, mhmm)
there is one moment where they're joking around about nerdy stuff and hawk just stops like "dude you're so much like demetri, this is crazy" (meaning they have a lot of the same opinions and ideas on nerd crap) and kenny is personally so offended (hawk and demetri think this is the most hilarious thing ever)
while kenny never really talks to demetri one-on-one (mainly BECAUSE he's embarrassed he was compared to him), the few moments he does get alone with him are spent with demetri unintentionally showing him why mercy and pacifism are a better technique and strategy than force and violence. (these unintentional teachings are due to demetri's constant references to his favorite comics and game characters)
SPEAKING OF DEMETRI, while kenny doesn't seek him out, demetri (likely due to him being neurodivergent) doesn't seem fazed by this and often recommends different comics and games that remind him of kenny (he does this with everyone in the dojo but it makes kenny feel more comfortable in miyagi-do)
robby maintains a normal brotherly type of relationship with kenny and still sometimes talks to shawn (idk as of RIGHT NOW what the writers are gonna have robby do post-grad but whatever he's doing, he's keeping up with the paynes)
honestly, robby is second to shawn who kenny trusts the most. as he gets older, anthony and devon make their way behind robby.
he does develop a good friendship with anthony, hawk, and demetri through their dungeon lord obsession but is a little hesitant for a bit, since he's still a little embarrassed and uncomfortable being that vulnerable and nerdy again. after a while, he notices how dorky demetri is and how anthony and hawk don't judge him for it so he slowly opens up again.
he stays surprisingly close with anthony post-grad (either trauma-bonding, similar interests, or the fact that their moms are friends) and he'd probably even call anthony his best friend once they get to their 20s
gets along with miguel and hawk primarily bc of their music taste (do i mean kendrick lamar? obviously i mean kendrick lamar. but everything else too) (just hc all my favs as kendrick lamar fans bc i can)
PERSONALLY i think he'd win the next all-valley and anthony, like demetri, would be one of the semi-finalists (hawkmetri parallels~)
final thoughts: kenny my beloved, you really should be higher on this list if it weren't for my current obsession with other characters that have more screen time than you. if i'd made this last year, you'd be number three or four bookie. you deserve the world. 10000/10 valid crashout, you have done no wrong (shhh no wrong), and i'm glad you're FINALLY getting the recognition you deserve in miyagi-do, joining the team for one day and immediately propelling them out of elimination, you are the karate king ever. i wish we could get a spin-off of you and see how your skills progress the same way we saw the older kids but alas, this journey has been a long one together and i'm nevertheless proud of where you're signing off 🫡
#i imagine his personality just like dallas irl#hes just a little guy#he did nothing wrong#he's also just like me fr#rip kenny payne you would've loved not like us#cobra kai#kenny payne#kenthony#hawk moskowitz#amanda larusso#robby keene#shawn payne#devon lee ck#anthony larusso#terry silver#john kreese#you deserve better

Life After Relic
(How I think my V would fare in each of the Cyberpunk 2077 endings)
TW: Suicide and self destruction
The Sun (w/ Kerry): This is Vesper’s canon ending. Ves, Kerry, Mama Welles, and Misty become an odd family unit, having dinner at V and Kerry’s mansion in Watson almost every weekend. Sometimes Vik comes too, and of course Kerry’s kids (when he sees them 4 weeks out of the year). V doesn’t really feel like a dad, but he’s good with kids and likes seeing Kerry’s more domestic side. It’s a nice treat, anyway, but V and Kerry never get married. V doesn’t see the point, and Kerry is still put off by the idea since his divorce was so rocky. Kerry isn’t big on pets, but Nibbles always sleeps on his side of the bed. Kerry definitely hates it and V definitely doesn’t wake up to find Kerry snuggling the cat instead of him. (He calls her “Lil’ Ms. Nibs” when he thinks Ves can’t hear him)
[things get much sadder from here]
The Sun (w/o Kerry): Vesper’s gig to infiltrate the Crystal Palace is a suicide mission. He really fucking struggles without Johnny; suddenly the noise of the city isn’t enough anymore. He had gotten so used to Johnny’s thoughts keeping his brain occupied, pushing his own thoughts down and away. Now that his mind is a consciousness lighter, V wonders if Johnny made his thoughts so loud on purpose. V won’t off himself (Johnny made him promise) but if he takes a gig way out of his scope and doesn’t make it back, at least he’ll die a legend. Vesper is discovered and killed 3 days into his mission. His body is ejected into space.
The Devil: Vesper would never take this ending. He’s anti-corp through and through, even skipping gigs that have obvious corp ties. He would sooner let his mind wither away and allow Johnny to inhabit his body.
The Star: Panam and Ves really tried the relationship thing, but between Panam’s hotheadedness and V’s pessimism, they fought a lot. They decided it was better if they remained friends. V is very thankful for all the Aldecaldos did for him and continue to do, but he can’t stop thinking about how many of the clan died only for him to have 6 months to live, and no leads left to explore. The desert is quiet, and the sounds of the camp and the family do help drown out his intrusive thoughts, but then he just remembers Saul and Scorpion and the veterans. He becomes incredibly reckless on jobs, taking more and more solo gigs and fucking them up to the point it feels intentional. Panam’s negging is coming from a place of worry, V knows that, but it only makes him feel more like a burden. Vesper allows himself to be captured by Wraiths on a routine smuggling route and is tortured for information on the Aldecaldos. Forever grateful, V dies without ever revealing their location.
Temperance: This ending is very improbable for Vesper to take. It would require him never making any friends, or somehow losing Mama Welles. But, if those things were to happen, V would have no reason to keep going and would allow Johnny to keep his body. Johnny never had a plan for what would happen if V gave him his body, so his life becomes aimless. He can’t keep making music, because he isn’t Johnny Silverhand anymore, not completely. He can’t keep living in Night City or go with the Aldecaldos because he isn’t V and couldn’t pretend to be if he tried. He tries to tell Rogue, but she knows, just from hearing him talk. She refuses to see him again. He tells Kerry (only if Ves was sleeping with him, which again would rule out this ending BUT) and Kerry is fucking furious. He almost beats Johnny within an inch of his life, but seeing Vesper’s eyes staring back at him stops him. All his healing is completely undone, and he never finishes his album, coasting off royalties for the rest of his career. Johnny goes to Atlanta, but feels the hollowness and depression V felt when he was there. Johnny drinks. The world forgets them both.
The Tower (w/o Kerry): After watching Misty drive off to begin a new life, V takes the elevator to the roof above Vik’s clinic. He turns the radio on full volume, blasting Never Fade Away, and does what he should have done two years ago instead of calling Reed. Viktor finds his body that night.
The Tower (w/ Kerry): Vesper waits 4 months, like Kerry told him to. It’s hard, fucking hard, and he spends the entire time rotting in Misty’s old apartment. He misses her, he misses all his friends, and the way things used to be. He doesn’t want to dredge up bad memories for Judy or Panam, so he doesn’t even try to call. He never realized how much of his identity he attached to his hair. He starts the long process of growing it back, but his curls don’t lay the same. Vesper is absolutely wrecked when he realizes Kerry doesn’t feel the same way for him anymore. He’s excited to see Ves, sure, but he’s not reuniting with a lover. They have pleasant but awkward small talk. Before he leaves, Kerry offers him money to get his life back on track. Maybe he can put a good word in for V with some of his connections, to get him a stable job. V declines, but thanks him, promising to call. It’s not the only promise he would break that day. He goes to the dam overlooking Santo Domingo and sits, looking out over the city, until sunset. As he watches the sky turn pink, Vesper apologies aloud to Johnny, then Jackie, before throwing himself off the dam. Mama Welles has to identify his body.
V is a really tragic character in my eyes, and all the parts of their story that I’ve gotten most hung up on, I made major parts of Vesper’s life. The guilt of being the cause of so many deaths, the underlying depression that comes with living in late-stage capitalism, the very American mentality of making it big and not bothering to go on if you don’t. Originally, my canon ending for Ves was him dating Kerry and still dying during the Crystal Palace gig. It’s poetic in how much it reflects what Johnny did to Kerry. But then I realized I needed a little more joy in this dystopian (not-so-fictional) hellhole. So I decided he gets to be happy, so I can be a little happy myself. I didn’t mean for him to be as much of a self-insert as he ended up being. But as much as I want him—more than anything—to find a way out, that’s not the Cyberpunk spirit.
“Wrong people, wrong city.”

I hate this take so bad
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b16546d047c3bb20ef17e670045d9e48/cba4d227b7b64864-17/s540x810/ac3fd0707b541203deaca4da2bfc8c21384aacfe.jpg)
like. 😭 Idk, man, I love the dark sides of Hope and Josie as much as the next person but Lizzie fans always make it about how she’s 100% the victim even when it’s kind of a reach? Josie only became infected with dark magic (that we saw canonically took over her actions, because Hope literally went into her subconscious to help her overcome the magic's control) because she broke the sandclock to save her AND her entire family from the prison world. Yes, her going dark is a result of her poor actions like breaking Ethan’s arm and things like that that led to her even needing the mora miserium, but there’s also something to be said about how an adult figure (it was actually Clarke but she didn’t know that at the time) groomed her along to do the magic on purpose. And then she did dark magic specifically to save Lizzie from the oni 💀 The whole reason why she put the dark magic into the mora miserium was because she saved Lizzie from the oni (as she should, that’s her twin).
And then she had to break it to save her family again? 😭 Like yes, she’s still a witch and something that comes along with that is things like this that happen and are totally fucked up and dark. Characters will react to that with anger/sadness/fear and everything they're entitled to with their trauma. Alyssa hating Josie makes complete sense. If Lizzie hated Josie for the trauma then that would also be fair. Josie's not exempt from consequences even if she wasn't in control, which is why I think the characters still should’ve been more upset with her afterwards. But saying that Josie killed Lizzie because she wanted to and just using this black and white way of looking at it is weird to me because it’s omitting the entire way they got there. This isn’t like a Klaus thing where he consciously is torturing or ‘killing’/daggering his sibling. Lizzie isn't being targeted in that way. For all intents and purposes, Legacies was extremely sanitized and a lot of the characters acted pretty safely and without as much toxicity as other characters in tvdu. Josie wound up there after a chain of events that make sense and are specifically supposed to be somewhat sympathetic.
If the script was flipped and it was Lizzie’s plot, these people would not act like Josie was the ultimate victim of the series when dark Lizzie tried to merge with her 😭 Hell, people don’t even act like that about the alternate universe where Lizzie DID kill Josie and it’s not even specified there that she merged with her. They just said she got paranoid and lashed out and killed her. The audience is meant to feel sympathy for both twins here, but mainly Lizzie, and most of us do when watching that episode. So why is the same energy not held for Josie? I’ll tell you why, and it’s h1zz1e ship wars 💀
Much like when Elena's humanity was forced off against her will (and the show also neglected to address how traumatic that is), Hope's also flipped off against her will because she killed her significant other to save her friends from an apocalypse. No one was there with her when she got kidnapped or while she was killing Landon and none of them even had good excuses for being missing (Josie included), despite promising they would help her through this. She didn't want her humanity off and it's stated multiple times it was not her choice. She tried not to harm any of the students or her friends (minus Ric, who has quite literally groomed her for most of her life so it's completely understandable and I'm absolutely not sorry for saying this, especially considering how he treated the children at his supernatural school, from Hope to Alyssa) even with her humanity off. Despite that, Lizzie wanted to kill her. Which, okay, if someone beats your dad into a coma, fair enough. But considering Hope's humanity is off and Lizzie KEPT pressing the issue and trying to kill her, it makes complete sense that Hope gave up and killed her first. Her humanity is OFF. Lizzie also knows exactly what that means and has a mother who has gone through the same thing. Caroline's actions during tvd when her humanity was off literally made my stomach churn. She had Elena's boyfriend perform surgery on Stefan's relative. 😭 The only part of this situation between Hope and Lizzie that you could say 'oh no poor Lizzie' 100% is the fact that killing Lizzie did not flip Hope's switch back on, despite that we've seen in the past in tvd that someone important dying does flip switches for people. Matt died and Elena's came back on. Caroline's flipped back on at the loss of her mother (her mother's letter, but still?). It seems like laziness or an oversight for the writers to not have that flip Hope's humanity, and clearly they just wanted an easy way to turn Lizzie into a heretic before the show's run was over. But still, looking at canon, it does make it seem like Hope doesn't care about her because of it and THAT would be enough for me to say 'poor Lizzie'.
But as far as Lizzie TRYING to kill Hope, the playing field was pretty even there? Hope had tried to fuck off and leave her alone. Ric was hospitalized and not dead yet (and as we see, he did recover). Lizzie was taking the risk herself when she hunted her down with a weapon to kill her. It doesn't matter if she chickened out at the last second or that she said there's still good in Hope literally UNDER DURESS because Hope is about to kill her and she's backed into a corner. It still was her choice to 1v1 Hope to begin with, even knowing her humanity was off against her will. Again, the ONLY thing here that's a 'poor Lizzie' to me is that Hope's humanity didn't flip on when she killed Lizzie.
I think one of my biggest disconnects with how h1zz1e fans enjoy the ship is they’ll act like Lizzie is just constantly a victim and not that both Hope and Lizzie were both killing/trying to kill each other at that point. It’s fine to enjoy the angsty parts of Lizzie still clearly caring about Hope, of course. Those characters both love each other, despite poor writing. But there’s this attempt to only frame them as like Lizzie being a victim when in reality that whole arc of Lizzie trying to kill her and then them fighting afterwards, even when Hope’s humanity was returning, would be (if they were romantic in canon which they were not) more of a mutual toxic yuri situation than a ‘Lizzie is just a victim of Hope’ situation. Hope never would’ve left Lizzie sire bonded to her without her humanity switch having been forced off. Both characters have inherent darkness from their supernatural sides and Legacies was honestly, again, pretty sanitized as far as how toxic the characters could get? It’s not just Hope and Josie getting together and killing Lizzie. 😭 Like we missed the entire journey of those plots and are just saying nonsense atp
#I can't stand when the fandom just ignores the context of every single plot and acts like Lizzie is just a victim for every single thing#the people who stan her the most specifically ask for dark storylines for her and they're clearly mad they didn't get them?#but then they play dumb about how dark storylines function in Legacies and act like the show was just everyone attacking Lizzie constantly#despite there being context and a lot of nuance to these plots#if you're mad about the ablelist way the writers wrote a lot of lines and honestly the entire format of some of Lizzie's arcs then okay yes#but these instances are not a case of poor Lizzie they're just... cause and effect?#christ.#anti lizzie saltzman#tagging it as this because her fans will cry and end my entire bloodline if I don't so#texts:m#texts#legacies#tvdu#study:trio#josie saltzman#hope mikaelson#tvdu fandom#legacies fandom

I sometimes wonder if Miguel ever tried recreating that sense of family he had with Gabriella with Miles and Gwen...except Miles and Gwen only received that toxic parental side from him and not the healthier, wholesome part he had with Gabi because he's mentally unwell and grieving and punishing himself daily as penance.
This is a really good thought cause Gwen alludes to this in her rant at Miguel during the Go Home Machine sequence, “Maybe you weren’t hard enough on him!”. Miguel views his actions based on being Spider-Man not as being Miguel. Either way, he is acclimated to loss in grief in such a unique way that it just seems difficult for him to understand that others aren’t or don’t become susceptible to his alternative to grief/guilt.
It would be plausible that Miguel is sort of worried about gaining a connection with members of the society (especially the younger ones) as he’s lost a lot in his life (if his backstory is any similar to his comic + gabi) and the healthier side would undoubtedly led to a less formal work relationship and something that bleeds into what little life he has outside of Spider-Man as Miguel.
For all intents and purposes Miguel genuinely believes that he is being reasonably protective of Miles and Gwen by over-protecting the canon as he doesn’t want them to experience the pain of over-stepping cosmic and normal boundaries like he did along with dampening his emotional investments in them by being harsh. I mean, recently people have been pointing out he tears up when Miles tells him he can’t not save his dad.
His intentions and sentiments towards these kids are pure and based in altruism but his actions and executions of them are destructive if outright hostile.
#the idea that these actions of his are simply tough love opens a new light to why he tried to break Miles spirit towards the end#he genuinely recognized he was getting dangerous as in that position he could’ve easily bitten or knocked out the kid but was still trying#to talk him down in a sense#as cruel as his words were he wanted Miles to realize the weight of his existence and definitely got to angry and heated before hand to be#effective the fact Gwen thought they could still talk after implies she still thought him reasonable and hints this was a show of care of n#his side that went completely south Miguel likely just wants what’s best and it just so happens to include having people get hurt#also supporting the idea od strict harsh parenting as he’s trying to build them up to be strong spider people sort of like parents who want#their kids to be prodigies I mean you can parallel his meeting with Miles to the meeting with his parents#expectations of what he needs to do or should want vs his own sentiments#miles morales#gwen stacy#ghost spider#miguel o'hara#spiderman 2099#spiderman#atsv#across the spiderverse#spiderverse#ask#anon#atsv spoilers

Headcanons and other things I like to keep consistent in any interpretations, AUs or otherwise of the ZX/A crew, just for fun:
• For all intents and purposes, Girouette IS Vent and Aile's dad, adoptive or otherwise, no ifs, ands, or buts.
• Girouette is both a master baker and a total prankster.
• Girouette Express actually started out as a cake delivery business, which Giro inherited from his own adoptive father that named it in his honour.
• Vent and Aile are twins. Neither is sure who the oldest actually is, but it's Vent.
• Vent's favourite food is barbeque pork buns, which I took from the manga.
• Aile takes her coffee black but will also indulge in hot chocolate every so often. We're talking very, VERY fancy hot choc.
• Vent is a bonafide fashion disaster when he's not in uniform, and Aile prefers to dress androgynous. The two will often share accessories and jackets. Aile buys hers several sizes too big A: for aesthetic, B: so her tank of a twin can borrow them.
• Sho from the manga inevitably ends up running Girouette Express when the twins are indisposed.
• The source material never actually states that PnP are twins (and believe me I've scoured the ZX/A scripts), but I always treat them as such, with Prometheus as the older twin.
• Prometheus will always, without fail, end up in a death-related job no matter what universe I write him in. This is inspired by his status in canon proper as the Grim Reaper.
• Pandora is naturally glamourous but always puts effort into her appearance. Prometheus is vain as a peacock and unfortunately is NOT naturally glamourous at all.
• Pandora is weirdly perceptive of everyone's emotions but her own. Prometheus sucks at social interactions but doesn't come across that way due to immense vanity and overconfidence.
• Pandora is usually the first of the twins to spike her drinks with some sort of alcohol. Prometheus, bizarrely enough, recognises this to be an unhealthy coping mechanism more than she does and doesn't drink as often. His preference is chilli hot chocolate, she likes matcha lattes.
• Aeolus has some experience in working as a lawyer, no matter what universe I write him in.
• Aeolus is classically trained in ballet and has dabbled in both kendo and iajitsu.
• Aeolus is albino and partially blind.
• Siarnaq is fluent in sign language. Aeolus and Pandora are the only other two Megamen able to have a full conversation with him in it as they are also fluent. The rest are still learing.
• Siarnaq is a terrible, awful cook who will burn his RICE without fail. Bizarrely enough however the only thing he is ANY good at preparing is pufferfish.
• Thetis grew up around religious influences which partly influenced his whole "cleanse the world" pholisophy, and also has a criminal record from being involved in graffiting and protests.
• Thetis loves tacky formalwear and anything with fish on it. I can see an older Thetis wearing fish-patterned ties.
• Atlas is the best cook out of the Big Four as she actually uses spices. Oftentimes, TOO many spices for their tastes, barring Siarnaq. Her spiciness tolerance is very high.
• Partly taken from what I've seen of the ZXA manga, but Grey LOVES his sweets and trying new foods. Ashe has not helped in this as what she drinks can barely even be considered coffee given the amount of syrups she puts in it.
• Ashe is a FANTASTIC dancer. Vent dances like a dad at a disco. Both are inevitably the first to join in if something like the Macarena or Nutbush are played. (Great, now I want to animate them doing the Nutbush.)
Any other headcanons I give away will spoil some very minor plot points of FTGFTF, but spoil them nonetheless, haha.
Feel free to reblog and add what you like to keep consistent about these characters!! Curious to see how interpretations differ :)

One of the reasons that I could never warm up to Hook that is completely glossed over in the fandom is how much he screwed Baelfire over with seemingly no remorse. The narrative tries so hard to write off Hook as a good person and Baelfire’s friend in the later seasons that I don’t think people really don’t understand how despicable his actions were.
First, he either convinced Bae’s mother to leave her family or assisted in Bae’s mother leaving her family. I don’t blame Hook too much for that since the majority of the blame is definitely on Milah, but Hook didn’t need to antagonize Rumple and threaten Bae’s only other parent. (They did have Hook address that this was wrong of him on the show though which is more than they usually do.) And even if Hook told Bae that they wanted to go back for him, the truth is that they did not. Bae was 4-6 years old when Milah left, and Rumple killed Milah when Bae was 14 years old in London, so Hook and Milah were together for 8-10 years (common law married at the very least) in which they never actually came back for Bae or even informed him that his mother was alive. If Rumple hadn’t become the Dark One, Bae would have died fighting the Ogres, and there would have been nobody to come back to. I doubt they actually had any intentions of going back to Bae; Hook just said that to give Bae a more positive outlook on the mother that abandoned him.
Then, he built up Bae’s trust for the sole purpose of gaining information to kill his father. He did save Bae from the mermaids and sheltered him for a while, but all of his niceness (until he got attached to Bae) was to gain Bae’s trust so that Bae could give information on his father. Hook’s friendship with Bae that they boast about in later seasons was dependent on a lie and mostly faked on one side.
His main offense that is glossed over the most in canon is that he abandoned Bae and sold him out to Pan. This is debatably one of the worst abandonments in the show, and it is never talked about.
- First, Hook does this within the same day that Bae found out about his mom abandoning him and his dad killing his mom (rubbing salt into the wound). And despite how it appears in the show, this was not a split second decision since Hook (or his crew) had to physically call up the Lost Boys to get Bae. The Lost Boys were mainly on the island and didn’t lurk near the ship without being prompted (or else Bae couldn’t have been on deck when Hook was playing friends with him in fear of being seen). When Hook was giving his “I can change” speech to Bae, the Lost Boys were already called or else they wouldn’t have been there immediately afterwards. Maybe Hook would have hidden Bae if Bae agreed, but he had already sold Bae out by that point.
- Second (and why this abandonment is one of the worst), Hook intentionally sold Bae to a known psychopath that he knew would mentally, physically, and emotionally torture him. Hook knows the Lost Boys and how bad Pan is. That’s why he and his crew are always on the ship rather than on the island. That’s why he tries to avoid Neverland even if he is stuck in the realm. That’s why he hides Bae from the Lost Boys in the first place. Not to mention that selling Bae out was for a selfish reason (to be in Pan’s favor and gain access out of Neverland) and can’t even be argued as being in Bae’s best interests.
- Third, knowing where Bae was and that Bae was suffering, Hook left Bae in Neverland for centuries, perpetuating the initial abandonment. How do you think it felt for Bae to see Hook enter and leave the island/realm over and over again for hundreds of years, leaving Bae on Neverland over and over again? (Part of me wonders whether that’s why Pan let Hook off the island in the first place, to be able to lord about it to Bae.) I strongly suspect that Bae tried to petition to or stowaway with Hook (since he was trying to escape), but Hook refused him and turned him back to Pan (since Hook was in Pan’s employ) which had to hurt worse.
Maybe I could let it go if Hook showed remorse or it was addressed in canon, but instead, the opposite happened. Hook painted this picture of him and Bae as friends (even though most of their friendship was Hook using Bae for information) to bond with Emma after Bae “died”. He lied by omission of all the pain he caused Bae which is never clarified in canon. After Bae actually dies, he tries to rewrite his and Bae’s history again when describing their “friendship” to Henry. And the worst part is that nobody can contest it since Bae is dead in all of these scenes.
Not to mention that when they find out that Bae is alive in Neverland (which Hook did not seem happy about in the slightest), Hook decides to go after Emma, the woman that he knows Bae loves and that loves Bae (since Emma wasn’t quiet about that at all). They are trying to find Henry, and Hook is purposely baiting Bae with talks of his and Emma’s “dalliance” (which implies way more than a kiss). Hook makes it into a competition, as if Emma is a trophy, and continues pursuing Emma in front of Bae even though Emma said “No” countless times. And despite supposedly backing out of the competition after Neverland, he still continues to harass Emma until they kiss immediately after Bae dies and get together in the end. Whether you’re a Swanfire fan or not, the entire thing is rude and disrespectful to Bae.

Hazbin Episode 1 Liveblog
In order to avoid this post getting Way Too Long, I'm going to make one post for episode one, and one for episode two!
I will say, I'm kinda sad we don't have a 'proper' theme song/intro, just the little jingle :( I do get it, but ah well.
Oh my god the commercial is even better in full.
How the fuck did he get Charlie to keep the name if it was still him???
Al's so fucking offended they're making him use a camera he made it one giant middle finger. I love it.
The voices are definitely going to take a bit of adjustment. It's probably because I've rewatched the pilot a zillion times, though.
I like how Alastor didn't even look at Angel. "Never going to happen!"
Awww, Charlie's ringtone for her dad is cute.
I DO really love Keith David as Husk right away, he suits the role perfectly.
"I like being forced!" and I love you, you weird little gremlin. Hoping for some good CNC stuff with her now, tbh. She'd be fun for it.
The flat delivery of 'crack is expensive' made me wheeze out loud.
Aaaa and here we go, full animation for Happy Day!
Why... why is the 'shoving barbed wire in your hole' guy an imp. Is that, like, his job or something. Is he just an asshole?
Ooooo, that was VAGGIE singing the 'bloodthirsty and deranged?' line? More fodder for her being a fallen angel/exterminator.
'Helluva post' for the mail. Ha.
This just made me fully realize how much the cannibal colony probably considers the post-extermination like a feast day.
Awww, the music note background is a fun touch.
Something about the fact that the 'touch my parts!' guy is a completely shapeless slug-creature instead of just keeping the dick offscreen makes it funnier.
Oh, I love Adam. The fun kind of punchable prick.
The animation seems a bit... overacted? I've noticed it all along but with Vaggie in the scene where she talks about making a new commercial especially. It sort of felt like they wanted to match the pilot's very snappy energy but weren't quite sure how, so everybody makes kind of... aimless motioning instead of moving with purpose, if it makes sense? It feels more like 'moving body parts for the sake of moving things' over 'moving with intent'. It's sort of awkward and distracting. The shifting proportions don't really help, but I just know people are going to be Fucking Annoying about that when it's unfortunately part of the package of making a whole season at once by a regular animation studio.
Oh yeah, Blake's perfect for Angel, lmao. It was more of a change than I expected from the few lines we'd gotten since they sounded more like the original, but he's got the energy.
Charlie didn't know Adam ran the angel army? That seems like the kind of thing she should have known. I wonder if she was relatively sheltered growing up.
'Call me dickmaster' why do I get the feeling the Chaz fans will like him, lmfao.
Since I'm on Adam though, another little groan to myself about the lack of fat characters in the hellaverse that aren't either gross stereotypes or background characters. Adam falls into the misogynist type, (like, the 'redditor', you know the one, just sort of mixed with a sleazy rockstar) Mammon's literally Greed and a talentless abuser, the lady at the pound was gross/uncaring and ugly, and I still think the Nurse was the only one that really broke the pattern and I've seen approximately one piece of fanart or mention of her ever (despite her clearly-developed positive relationship with Barbie!) and it was porn. I'm allowed to bitch on this after people were so fucking annoying about how wanting Bee to be fat was wanting her to be a 'gross ugly blob' and then saying other people were being fatphobic for pointing out everybody's skinny. Somehow. Anyway.
Well, at least they got the vagina joke out of the way early.
I love how his deal isn't for anything that would genuinely screw Vaggie over, he's just pissed they want him to deal with TV.
The fact that the pilot's still 'soft canon' makes sense with how Angel just immediately starts admiring his new clothes without any surprise, since it's happened before. Also, Niffty with the Marilyn pose is cute.
Oh, I'm definitely going to like Lute. I still like my idea she used to be close to Vaggie but when Vaggie was cast down, she stuck tighter to the rules.
Adam's song is fun!
So season 1 takes place over the course of six months? Huh. I'm guessing we'll have some time skips if we only have eight episodes.
I wonder what the Heaven Embassy is for? I can't imagine it's only for meetings like that considering there's couches in the lobby and stuff. Can sinners communicate with loved ones in heaven or vice versa, maybe, just using the holograms?
Oh my god the Katie voice IS basically just Brandon's Bryce voice. Amazing.
Ohoooo? VERY curious who managed to pull off killing an exterminator, and 'can't let them catch on'... hmm.
