saw a reddit discussion that intrigued me on the ao3 subreddit, where people were very split in opinion on whether gratuitous tags involving plot points were either good etiquette and all but necessary to avoid triggering anyone, or otherwise they were antithetical to the experience of reading as appreciating the art form of writing, and built only for reducing reading to consumption of content. Personally found myself firmly on the side of the latter point, but like.. first point had a whole lot of supporters

the idea went something like: I only consume fanfic for comfort, i don't want to see anything that makes me feel a negative emotion (that wont eventually be resolved in the text to my satisfaction) and the fact that a fanfic could, through the death of a character or a lack of a happy resolution, lead me to think about it for days and draw a very visceral emotional reaction from me is extremely undesirable. I would prefer to have every major plot point laid out in the tags so I can choose whether to read the story from a perspective of complete understanding, rather than go into a story without that understanding and potentially encounter something i was not expecting (and have that be an unpleasant surprise). Reading something, even if it doesn't trigger me, that ends up disappointing me is a complete waste of my time.

and idk. personally i find that pretty lame. maybe that's why i dont vibe well in most fanfic communities (the other reason being that i almost never seek out fanfic to read, lol, teheperooo). I feel like this kind of idea is doing everything it can to take the art out of the art form. A visceral emotional reaction is what artists of every medium should strive for, imo. That reaction doesn't always have to be sobbing in pain, it can be a real laugh, it can be a grimace of disgust, it can be a boner, but I'm thinking if someone wants to make art on the human condition, pain is a very big part of that! And honestly lends some credence to the "fanfic isn't real art" crowd. If you only "consume" fanfic for comfort, then i feel like it's more of a pacifier. But again, I'm kind of an outsider to this culture so i wonder what the rest of yall think.

What Does "Supporting Writers" Mean? ✍️

Apparently it's Fanfic Writer Appreciation Day! To all my fellow writers, I truly appreciate you for bringing me joy, making me smile on rough days, and giving me my weekly/daily dose of escapism and warm fuzzies. (Shoutouts to you personally below.) 💓💓

But what does it mean "practically" to appreciate your favorite writers, especially on Tumblr?

For example, I know some fanfic authors are starting to block "serial likers": people who'll go through someone's entire masterlist and hit the "like" button on 20-something stories without commenting or basic reblogging.

While I think blocking them is extreme, I understand the authors' frustrations. I've actually been asked if I'll ever leave Tumblr, since many of them have dropped off over the past few months, or even the past few years.

I'm still here for two very important reasons:

I love to write about my favorite characters. I write primarily because I love it, not just for the kudos.

I'm friggin' blessed to have a lot of friends and lovely readers on here and Ao3 who support me immensely on my writing and on this blog in general. I love and appreciate each and every one of you! Which is why I do my best to reply to your comments and reblogs. 💖💖

Of course, there are many reasons why a writer might take a break or stop writing entirely, but one of those reasons is also why the #supportwriters tag exists...

That being said, here's my own rule of thumb on how I try to support my fellow writers when I read something I enjoy:

If I "liked" something, it means I had the time to read a story all the way through and I enjoyed it! (Or I'm bookmarking it for later in the day lol)

If I have the time to read it, I have the time to leave a comment on what I liked the most about it.

If I have the time to write out a comment (anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes), I typically put that comment in a reblog -- maybe even add a gif or two for ✨razzle dazzle.✨ That way I can share it with the rest of my followers, so they can see it and hopefully enjoy it too...

Why? Because Tumblr isn't TikTok or IG. Reblogging is the best way to help a post gain traction on Tumblr. The algorithm doesn't care much about likes.

But on a more human level, supporting writers is just the basic thing of -- if you enjoyed something you read (that a writer shared for free), just let them know what you liked about it.

Remember that there's a person behind the content you enjoy. They might have been working on that story for weeks or months, or even years before they got the courage to post it.

They might really be putting themselves out there, writing about a topic or subject matter that they're not sure people will even like or engage with.

Maybe they're exploring something new, like a character or trope they've never written before.

Maybe they're expressing part of themselves that they haven't even told another living soul.

Maybe they just wanted to write something fun and smutty or angsty or fluffy and want to share the escapism with you.

Whether they've been writing for years or are just starting out, any and all is valid.

For me, as a writer and a reader, supporting my fellow writers often means supporting my friends. And 9 times out of 10, the way we became friends was by leaving feedback on their work and asking them questions, or responding to their awesome feedback on mine.

How would the ROs (troww, asking for all 3 would probably be too much lol) handle a witch with 0 self-esteem/confidence. Like, they absolutely do not understand what the RO sees in them, and are pretty much resigned to wait for the moment the RO leaves them because they got bored of the witch or "they finally realized they could do so much better"? And who just completely wilts and withdraws whenever someone else flirts with the RO (which probably happens a fair amount, since all of them are total babes), ready to "step aside" so they could be happy?

So... Dont think... This is going to be as soothing as you want. ALSO, like a quick note, I've been on tumblr long enough to notice these types of ask always pop up after a lot of poly talk and then other characters dating each other. Just saying I'm not a fan of that. Carry on.

L Rawlins: L is too old for this. From the top, they haven't been with anyone since the death of their spouse, they haven't even taken a lover and... After getting together... ? This? Brother, they're going to get flirted with from time to time, especially within their own pack. To live with the pack, you need thicker skin. L just gets exasperated after a while. Sorry I haven't been ignoring this I've just been Thinking. The thing is that I've been into the beatles off and on since I was in middle school so it's hard for me to remember like. Beatles 101. But welcome to hell. Two of us is a cwazy intro to mclennon lol.

Ok so I guess the thing is really depends on how serious you wanna be with your idk beatles scholarship? Like at an absolute bare minimum I would skim some wikipedia articles so you know the major people/places/events/eras. There are a zillion beatles bios and docs most of them bad some of them vital. Unfortunately it haven't gone through any of those since I was a teenager so I can't really tell you which is which anymore. I'm sure plenty of other beatles blogs could provide resources if you want them.

Definitely watch get back and let it be. The movies the beatles were in as well but less essential I guess. Advanced Level McCartney Studies but watch give my regards to broad street it's a fascinating reflection of pauls psyche.

I'd look at blogs like @amoralto @thecoleopterawithana @undying-love for references. Probably more upper level stuff but all of pauls interviews are on the paul mccartney project website and I once went through and read all the interviews from the 80s. Full disclosure, the thing about mclennon that compels me the most is the tragedy of it all, so that's where I tend to fixate. But it was a fascinating experience because you can really see paul work through his regrets/grief/resentment/bitterness/pain about john in real time

A word of caution when reading interviews: both of these guys are incredibly untruthful at times. John, after the breakup in particular, could be very hot and cold, especially about paul so don't take everything he says at face value. Paul also lies a lot no matter what anybody tries to tell you he just gets away with it more because he's still alive and people feel bad calling him a liar

Songs. Their songs are very very important. I sometimes see people act like it's stupid to believe things based on the songs. To a point I get it art doesn't have to be literal yadda yadda. But you also gotta consider these guys communicated a Lot to each other through music from the time they were teenagers. Anyway I'd suggest listening to the songs for a more thorough understanding but just reading lyrics I guess is fine. I personally still like going through people's mclennon playlists and analyzing Why people think they're mclennon. Look at the lyrics, go to beatles bible and/or the paul mccartney project and learn about the context, etc.

Okay anyway on to fanfic. If this is your main concern just ignore all the above advice who cares. Also I'm a horrible resource because I always forget what I read. Um @forthlin @menlove @pauls1967moustache have good fics sorry I can never remember any of your ao3 names. Merseydreams (I think it is) has good fics. @crepesuzette2023 does a lot of fic recs I think. One thing that's always fun about beatles fics is when u think something is completely made up and you look it up and it's literally real like wtf. I'm also a bad reference because I'm heavily biased towards early days fics and post breakup fics.

Ok hope this helps even a little bit. Remember the most important rule is to have fun. People take this shit so seriously but it's literally the beatles. But please do fact check that always drives me nuts.

LOL This is so funny to me, I desperately need a pov from the other two. Especially since the wind master absolutely regretted all of their choices to take Lang Qianqiu on this mission LOOOOOL.

Also, the fact that Xie Lian showed even a hint of interest in the boy and san lang 1. finds him immediately 2. was fully prepared to raise him as his own LOL.

I’m sure I got sent some posts of some blogger swearing that Jk lied when he said AYS trips were his best trips ever but honestly anon, what did you expect tkkrs to say? That was a huge slap in the face to them after they spent a year singing about “private trips” only for Jk to go and say AYS trips were the best trips he ever had in his entire life. Mind you “entire life” which means including the “private trips” taekookers thought was the beginning and end of the universe so what else did you expect them to say? Their whole world blew up in their faces when Jk said that because imagine how painful it must have been for them hear that trips that were taken with Jimin the member who they claim he hates and cannot stand and which also happened to be “company content” were the most impactful for Jungkook? The heartbreak!!!

Jimin saying he spent the night at Jk’s before their Jeju trip shouldn’t really be a big deal because duhhh they are friends and have been band mates for over a decade but it was, especially to them and not in a good way (even though they’ll never admit it) because if you think about it, why would Jimin be with Jk, spending the night with him after a trip instead of Tae if taekook is real? Everyone knows that after trips, people just want to go back home to their lovers and not necessarily their friends but here we had Jungkook going back home, Jimin going over there, Jungkook cooking for him and them spending the night together with Tae nowhere in sight. Doesn’t really read as coupley for taekook now does it especially considering how much tkkrs had been loud about Tae (and Hobi) being with Jk at night before Jk had to leave for LA even though they know there is a huge difference now because we don’t know that Taekook have ever spent a night together before or after a trip like Jikook have. Tkkrs tend to downplay or invalidate anything that Jikook do which their ship doesn’t. They downplayed spending bdays and couple holidays together because their ship doesn’t, they downplayed spending nights and alone time together because their ship doesn’t, they downplayed sharing cars till their ship did it a few times, they downplayed matching clothes till they thought their ship did it and they are downplaying Jikook spending the night together before and after a trip even though that is something they thought their ship did and celebrated it like hell.

Accepting that the AYS trips were the best trips Jk ever had in his life like he said would mean that Jk preferred his company, time and activities on the trips with Jimin over those with Tae. It would mean that the “private” doesn’t hold as much weight and they desperately want it to hold and tkkrs can’t accept that because “privet” is all they have. They can’t accept that Jikook spending the night together before a trip means anything because deep down they know that if taekook was real like they want it to be, Jungkook would want to go home to Tae not Jimin especially since they claimed that Tae joined AYS to spend time with Jk since he was travelling so much (even though Tae was on his phone the entire time). So anon, they just cannot do or say anything else. Jimin spending the night with Jk before a trip doesn’t prove they are real but it kinda debunks taekook just like jikook spending bdays, couple holidays and other special days and times together debunks taekook because why would Jungkook want to do all those things and spend all those moments with anyone other than the person he is romantically involved with. Jikook spend bdays, couple holidays, nights, spend nights with each other after trips while taekook go to concerts, musicals, premieres and go on ski trips where Jk ends up being left behind alone because Tae wants to go back home with friends. Not only the age gap, but also the fact that their big brother literally brought a new dawn of technology to the two cities with Jayce? I imagine there's this subconscious pressure on the Vanco baby to be a model citizen. Also imagining Silco enlisting Viktor to help keep his baby sibling in line during the rebellious teen/nightmare phase. They're still Zaunites after all.

Yeah it got eaten (had kind of thought Tumblr had stopped doing that but apparently not).

So going by my math (of quite frankly Silco's age) the youngest Vanco is probably born while Hextech is still in the stages of being developed or like only around the time of the initial releases not when it's really starting to hit its peak popularity. Not that that really matters seeing as the kid probably doesn't have memories from before Hextech was big but still feel like I need to note. Partially because is means Viktor and Jayce are spending a lot of time in their labs and therefore easy to locate babysitting when Silco needs it while he's in Piltover.

The gap is the kind where not only could Viktor (and Jayce) be the kid's parents it wouldn't even be that socially unacceptable for them to be seeing that they are both in their (early) 20s when the baby is born. Before Jayce's face at least is plastered everywhere and people Know Him And His Story people regularly assume if they are around that they're the baby's parents (especially with how much the kid looks like Viktor). And again they're not even judgemental about it and treat them like they are Irresponsible because of the baby. Which you know causes a lot of very awkward situations for either still dancing around each other or only just gotten into a relationship Jayce and Viktor.

While the heavy shadow Viktor casts definitively hangs a bit over his youngest siblings head I do think the Thing that defines the kid the most is that they are the first child to truly grow up in the limeline in both the cities. They have been attending Piltover Council meetings from a couple weeks old (if they want to call a four hour meeting they can just deal with Silco having his baby with him he's not walking all the way back to his office to feed them). But they've also been running around the Last Drop since they could run around.

When they're young they struggle with how to behave where. Because in Zaun nobody cares if they're climbing on the furniture and getting into mischief while in Piltover all eyes are on them as an extension of the Zaun Representative and so have to be model behaviour to not give ammunition to throw at their family. They do figure it out as they get older but it's definitively a struggle in those early developmental years.

Viktor has always been a borderline third parent to his younger siblings more than a brother (the age gap but also he had less interest in the kinds of things they were getting into). Funnily enough he's actually less of a third parent and more of that uncle figure to the youngest because he isn't living at home anymore. Which in some ways makes the shadow Viktor casts loom less compared to the others. Having a rich and successful uncle feels less intimidating than having a rich and successful older sibling. Yes it's not exactly that because Viktor is still their sibling but the gap is so large they're less being directly compared to him than the other four feel like they are and it's more just part of the culmative Success of the whole family that feels like expectation.

Even with not living at home Viktor's still getting roped into babysitting now and then and does get looked at to provide advice as someone who moves between Zaun and Piltover culture a lot (although by the time the kid is old enough for teenage rebellion Vi is also dating a Piltite).

They literally can't afford to mess up any further, they can't afford to make failures or have anymore loses when they're already so heavily kicked into a corner and at the disadvantage

So of course Blinky is going to be suspicious of Strickler and Nomura suddenly reappearing right after this all went down and is currently going down, of course Blinky is going to be on edge and suspicious because he truly can't afford anymore missteps when so many lives are in his hands now like dude...

Hi, i think this is my first time asking a general question in here but uhhh...has anyone actually mentioned those interactable NPC's in the forsaken lobby like at all? i mean, yeah we've been focused on the main cast of Forsaken but like, they do exist in the game and particularly canon from how they aren't removed from the game, for example, there's a female detective in the different cabin across the cabin where player's spawn.

then there's the two construction worker's near a fenced area where a cake monster - yes there is a cake monster in Forsaken - is trying to get in, one of the construction worker's are small too.

But uh yeah, im curious if you ever thought about that, i've seen so many people make art of the main cast but hey, the NPC gotta need those appreciation too right?

Saw a post where someone said Kenny had a pet snake and I can't FUCKING FIND IT TUMBLR SEARCH BE DAMNED BUT that is not going to stop me, so I took the liberty of looking up exactly what breed of snake Kenny had.

CONTENT WARNING FOR SNAKE IMAGERY FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT

Now the thing is, as cool as the idea is of Kenny having a venomous snake as a pet, I kinda doubt he would keep it, much less his parents. Especially with Karen and Kevin in the house who might not know better about snakes and possibly provoke it and get hurt, so venomous snakes are off the table.

Now, a quick search for Kenny's bedroom with the snake tank was easy to find. Let's take a look at the snake he has, shall we?

It's kinda hard to see, but we can tell that it's mostly white with red stripes (or bands idk the terminology) and a red head.

Color alone, that leaves us with these snakes that I have found so far

Kingsnake

Milk Snake (a subspecies of kingsnake)

Corn Snake

Now, you can argue that it can be any one of these snakes, because (1.) Realistically, there are no naturally occuring white and red snakes in the wild (at least to my knowledge) since they all have a black coloration to go with them, and (2.) The South Park animators/designers could've just simplified the snake's design.

Or you could argue it is a king snake, and Kenny was just super lucky to find one that had little to no black stripes surrounding the red bands, as seen here. Notice the tiny black dots vvv

But I say nay! I wanna be more partial to the idea that Kenny had saved up for an albino snake. Because like I said before, it's a mostly white snake with red stripes, whereas these snakes I showed photos of are mostly red. Plus, if you were a little boy, you would also think that it would add bonus cool points to your reputation.

Plus, plus, I kinda like the idea of Kenny being into snake breeding. I have limited knowledge on this stuff, but I think you guys know what I'm talking about. Selectively breeding snakes, watching over their eggs, making pretty morphs and selling them off for a buck or two. And even if you didn't get that special combo you wanted, you still have a gorgeous, healthy snake to sell as well :D

So! What albino snake looks the closest to the one Kenny has?

Well, at that point, that would mean that the kingsnake is now out of the question, as most of the images are just plain white snakes, BUT I could be wrong!

Milk snakes and corn snakes on the other hand fair better to the picture of Kenny's pet above.

They're pretty similar, but I would say I'm leaning more to the corn snake, simply because it matches the more triangle-like stripes than compared to the milk snake, and it does seem like a large snake.

So there you have it! The mystery snake no one was asking for! Kenny McCormick owns a kingsnake, or a special albino corn snake! Yeah!

You guys can add your own two cents as well. I would LOVE to hear your theories! Maybe you all did better research than I did, which is to say, not a whole lot lol (⁠｡⁠ŏ⁠﹏⁠ŏ⁠)

So I don't actually differentiate my WoLs from myself, their own story, or the MSQ. Some actions or events might seem contrary, but I don't see contradictions as like...a break in their natrative. My characters exist primarily in my mind and that means that they're a bit nebulous by nature.

Chiteni is the easiest for me to make an example of, here: let's take the DRK questline in general. He IS the WoL in his story. The one in MSQ. Those events do happen in his story - including meeting Fray and Sid and Rielle. HOWEVER in his personal canon he wasn't trained by them. He had another teacher entirely. And he met his Shadow when he was young - a little ways into his 8th summer. These two things kind've conflict because they are both his canon. The DRK questline is just as real to him as the headcanon I made. I see no reason I can't just have both just because some folks find that confusing! He isn't 'trained by a knight then by Fray later' he is trained by them separately and simultaneously. They are BOTH his first teachers. You could see them as divergent paths if that makes it easier. Or even alternate timelines. Whatever makes sense to you.

But just as I refer to him as 'me/he/we;' he has his own story, he's the character in the game's story, AND he is my avatar that I play as. These things don't exist to cancel each other out; they exist simultaneously and separately whenever I want them to.

I at least want to establish this before I start to talk about them, because I know people feel very differently about the importance of actually being the WoL vs saying like..."My character isn't actually the WoL." All 4 of my characters are, and though their personal stories may conflict with the canon plot, I just want to make it known all of it is still part of their stories. I don't feel the need to say my characters aren't the WoL because like...'how can Chiteni be trained by Fray AND the knight from his childhood if he's been a DRK since a young age?' These are stories and they're meant to bring me happiness. The cake isn't real. I can have it and eat it, too. Everyone can. Contradictions don't bother me because my mental landscape isnt made of solid ground, anyway. Why should their stories be founded upon such?

That's not to say I mean disrespect if it matters to you, ofc! My characters are me/them/us simultaneously at all times and that's just how I like it. If there's a contradiction I honestly am not bothered by it. So with that said, I'll post about them in response to this soon! I hafta think of what I want to actually SAY tho lol

I'm genderqueer [though don't mind being called or calling myself nonbinary - I do heavily prefer genderqueer however], transmasc [they/he, please] and genderflux [all of my genders flux into masculine of center ones, so masc terms are preferred]. I've also been on T for about a year now, so be aware I may occasionally post NSFW stuff (though I do tag it as NSFW) because well. T does that to a MF, lol. I'm also mixed race - part Puerto Rican, part Caucasian, and I have ancestry from both the Taino and Cherokee tribes that I'm quite proud of [one of my many claimed labels is Two Spirit], along with an amalgamation of other things. I don't have a white last name, either, so I feel its fair enough to consider myself as not entirely white.

I'm also disabled - I have fibromyalgia and a back injury from a wreck I was in. I'm also autistic [late diagnosed] with ADHD. I consider myself neurodivergent and a spoonie for those reasons among others, and yes, you'll see a lot of neurodivergent content here because of that, though I do my best to put most of it on my sideblog [infinityndenby] because being late diagnosed means I'm down a rabbithole learning all I can, lol.

I'm a Tumblr Old - I've been on this Big Blue Hellsite TM since my preteens, though under various different names. So you're probably gonna see me reference that sometimes too.

I have a variety of interests you'll see here, but one of the main ones you'll see most frequently are various Bethesda games' content, especially Fallout and TES.

Sometimes you'll see me reblog various creative writing tips because I dabble on occasion into writing fanfic [rarely], and I am heavily into roleplaying inside of the aforementioned games and do a lot of writing because of that. I do on occasion reblog art or writing I think is nifty, as well - I'd say I'm a huge creative type.

I'm also into psychology, biology, nature and its conservation, animals [especially wolves - I have a tag specifically for wolves if you're curious: #wolfposting], science of just about all types [though quantum mechanics is a huge favorite of mine]. I am an anarchist, currently undetermined what type [its still a very new discovery for me] - though I lean heavily into queer anarchism currently, so because of that I do also reblog a fair amount of political content that I try [and sometimes forget due to brain fog+ADHD wombo combo] to tag, as well as a lot of posts about queer and trans rights. That should give you a fair idea of the type of content you'll see on here, though it definitely doesn't cover all of it.
