Good morning! And in case you’re staying up like I am, good afternoon, good evening, and good night.

As anyone could tell from one quick look at my blog, I love Spooky Month. It being my main fandom on here was not the plan, but I’d be surprised to see something change that now. However, any piece of media, be it shows, movies, games, books, or anything else, that I even so much as mention, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ME ABOUT IT. If I bring it up at all that indicates that I am willing to talk about it, bordering on desperate to, please I’ve been alone for so long-

Anything I have ever done, anything I have ever drawn, any idea I have ever had is totally up for grabs as long as I’m credited. You can go into my old archives, please go into my archives, please reblog my age old posts, PLEASE build on my ancient ideas. I give my thoughts specifically to be built upon, to spark new concepts, to one day be turned into drawings, and if you can do any of that, DO IT. It’s not like once it’s old it’s gone, that’s what an archive is for. It’s still there, use it.

I’m gonna say that you can use my stuff for anything. Again, as long as I’m credited; but even if I’m not, what’s mostly important to me is that something I made is out there being enjoyed by someone. Also, please put my posts on Pinterest if you want because I didn’t even know it was its own social media until like a few months ago and I sure as hell won’t be doing it myself.

As for a DNI list, I don’t really have one. If you do identify with anything on a standard list (proshippers, looking at you mostly), let’s just agree to exist around each other as Minecraft wolves, ok? As long as neither of us attack each other for no reason, everything should be fine. This is a blog run by a child and is mostly about children and children’s media, keep that in mind. Honestly even if you are problematic, I likely won’t care unless you do something bad to me personally.

Don’t betray me or you’ll be integrated into all my stories through allegory characters and when you die I’ll search your grave for cool stuff.

I try to remain as neutral as I can on most touchy subjects and am generally pretty sympathetic, which may or may not be my downfall one day, but for now you can rely on me to just be your funny little art poster and AU flesher-outer.

Obscure Animation Subject #166: Flip the Frog

Ub Iwerks, an animator who is a personal friend of Walt Disney. He was, in fact, one of the employees at the Disney animation studio. During the rise of Mickey Mouse’s popularity in 1930, Iwerks and Disney had a dispute in between each other, and thus Iwerks left the studio. Iwerks accepted an offer from Pat Powers to form his own studio to produce cartoons for distributor Celebrity Pictures after losing their deal from Walt Disney Productions which moved distribution services to Columbia Pictures. Iwerks would also receive a salary of $300 a week, an offer that Disney was unable to match at the time. Alas, the cartoons were produced Powers' Celebrity Pictures auspices are notable as the first ever cartoons distributed by none other, than Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer! The character Iwerks created was known as Flip the Frog, originally Tony the Frog but Iwerks didn’t like the name.

Originally in color for its first few entries, MGM decided to make the series be produced in black and white to cut costs. Fiddlesticks, Flying Fists, Little Orphan Willie and Puddle Pranks were the cartoons produced in color under two-strip Harriscolor, but Fiddlesticks is the only cartoon that survives in its original colors. The remaining cartoons are currently only known to survive in black and white. The original color versions of the cartoons are lost media. It was also rumored that a later cartoon from 1933, Techno-Cracked, was produced in Cinecolor, but that is currently unconfirmed.

Notable animators working on the series include Fred Kopietz of Disney fame, Irv Spence of Looney Tunes and MGM fame, Grim Natwick of Paramount fame and Chuck Jones of Looney Tunes fame. Over time, the appearance of Flip the Frog gradually became less froglike. This was done under the encouragement of MGM, who thought that the series would sell better if the character were more humanized. Grim Natwick redesigned the character to make him look more humanized, although some of his frog features remain. Natwick also changed Flip’s girlfriend from a cat to Fifi, a human who has some similarities to Betty Boop in her design.

Overtime, the series started changing as Flip develops more as a character to a Chaplin-esque character who always gets into the situations of the atmosphere of the Great Depression. As such, the series became more risqué, more so than most cartoon series of the time period, with stories about sneaking out of a hotel in order to avoid paying rent, securing a low-level office job and tracking down a Chinese criminal. Yeah that last one is in bad taste but a short as such does exist.

Eventually, Flip started to wore out his welcome at MGM, as the series wasn’t financially successful when compared to other cartoons from the time period like Disney and Warner. Flip’s final short was Soda Squirt, released in August 1933. He was replaced by Willie Whopper which we may get to in a future post. Since this, Flip has been forgotten for the forthcoming years until animation enthusiasts and historians began discovering them by the 1990s, and all of the cartoons have since been preserved, they were compiled into a French Mk2/Lobster Films 2004 2-disc DVD set, and the Cartoons That Time Forgot: The Ub Iwerks Collection, Vol. 1 and 2 DVD sets, with the exception of Little Orphan Willie for unknown reasons but was included on the Return of the 30s Characters DVD from Thunderbean Animation. Later in October 2023, all of Flip’s cartoons were released restored on Blu-ray under a complete series set from Thunderbean, with an introduction by documentary filmmaker and Ub Iwerks' granddaughter Leslie Iwerks.

In terms of popular culture, the cartoons have shown up in few ways, the music video for Eminem's song "The Real Slim Shady" included a clip from Fiddlesticks where Flip was dancing, a clip of Room Runners was also featured in the intro sequence of the Futurama episode "Children of a Lesser Bog", and the Muppet Babies episode "The Great Muppet Cartoon Show" featured a clip from Funny Face during the "We Love Cartoons" song.

What do I think of the series personally. I saw it in its entirety for the MGM cartoon binge I did earlier in the year, and has gotten itself cult status amongst animation historians. But personally, I find it a mixed bag. The cartoons vary in quality due to how experimental they are, Iwerks wanted to not make his character be like another Mickey, but a rather flawed individual. It makes him better when compared to Bosko whose a Mickey clone from the start and also a racial stereotype. But, really the cartoons may go into different directions, sometimes gems like The Village Specialist and The Bully, but also some awful shorts like Pale-Face and The Village Barber. That being said, I do recommend checking it out if you want to see an early 30s cartoon not be like Mickey Mouse, or if you’re just curious, maybe check out one short to see if you would like it or not. It’s a fascinating piece of animation history and without Flip, we wouldn’t have MGM icons like Tom, Jerry, Droopy and the Avery wolf.

I have quite a few hang ups with Come Morning Light, the hunger games au I posted one chapter for back in November and have yet to update.

The first and foremost personal challenge is the fact that I, PCE, a certified Angst Wimp, am gonna have to kill off sooooo many of my faves. Like Hunger Games has some dark ass subject matter, kids forced to kill each other. I’m struggling with that, especially with what I have planned for Craig.

Along that same line, it’s gonna be a HUGE cast of characters, which I’ve had difficulty with in the past, it’s one of the reasons I primarily operate in oneshots. I love a good The Gangs All Here fic, but fleshing out 20+ characters is HARD. Bc a fluffy 2k word oneshot of Stan and Kyle in an awkward meet cute where there’s maybe one other character (usually kenny lmfao I’m a creature of habit) is a WHOLE different animal than a multicharacter multichapter. That’s something I had to figure out recently with TWITR, and character introduction held me up a lot in ATLCTS.

Okay this one may seem really inconsequential to a lot of people, but one thing I didn’t think about when developing this concept was the fact that there’s not really away for me to get around Stan eating meat lmao that’s one thing that over my time writing sp fanfiction has become ESSENTIAL to me characterizing that boy. I’ll probably just have him make a comment about how he could never kill animals himself WHICH BRINGS ME TO:

Kyle as our Katniss character. So if you’re familiar with my bs, every time I write Kyle, he’s inherently less angry until it’s called for, he’s very idealistic in his worldview and it takes something actually really pissing him off for him to snap. This is NOT gonna be the case here!!! This boy is ANGRY BY DEFAULT, the worlds out to get him? fuck the world right back! Plus, the entire story is gonna be from his perspective, bc I love writing Kyle, but it’s gonna take all my willpower not to turn him into my usual empathetic to a fault sweet people loving Kys.

Also, I usually tend to leave the adults mostly out of my stuff, but they’re gonna play quite the role in this. We got Garrison as Haymitch, Big Gay Al as Effie, fuckin Mr Slave as Cinna. I’ve never even WRITTEN the three of them. The dynamics gonna be fun tho.

Ofc there’s the problem of it being an adaptation too. There’s a fine line between just replacing hg characters with sp names and copying the plot, as opposed to making it your own. I do have some plot changes planned, but this is an issue I faced with We’re Gonna Sing It Even So, and that almost led me to abandon that fic when I felt like I was just plagiarizing Hadestown.

Also I’m not planning to adapt more than the first book. I reallllly couldn’t handle Kenny taking out Ike with his trap in the third one.

BUT!!! This won’t be abandoned, it’ll just be slow going!!! Ya wanna know the main reason?

Because the first idea I had for CML (other than Kyle volunteering for his little brother) was STAN AND KYLE IN THE FUCKING CAVE SCENES. A major change is that both of them are already deeply down bad, but those scenes??? Yeah no one’s playing for the cameras. I wanna fuck Stan up in the arena so bad lmfao that boy is my original sp whump muse and NATURALLY Kyle taking care of him I love that shit. Girl we gonna GET that prosthetic leg the movies left out (Ship In A Bottle Stan moment, I love that fic btw) as the Style Injury Dealer, I MUST deliver.

So, yeah, if anyone’s down, I’ll eventually pick it back up lmao.

Fuck. Kisaki knew it was wrong, having a crush on his step-sister. Everything about the situation was wrong, but how could he not develop some form of feelings when everyone in his life rejected him? Even his own mother? Speaking of her, his mother had married your father and gave you two brief introductions. 

You were the same age as Kisaki and eventually started going to the same school. You weren’t that annoying, clingy sibling which he was thankful for. He wanted to keep you out of everything that he did. So him keeping his mother’s last name, and you, your father’s, he didn’t have to worry about people piecing two and two together. 

When both of your parents were out, you often cooked for him and then did your homework. You never showed him any type of anger or disgust. Often flashing him that pretty smile when he came in or left. You treated him like a normal sibling, which only made his twisted mind more fucked up. He knew you saw him as nothing more than a brother, but he wanted to be so much more. 

So, he started isolating himself from the gang activity, Hanma. From everyone, and found himself indulging in your favorite activities with you in the house. From watching (favorite series) to playing (favorite game). Sometimes you both would end up reading a book, cuddling against each other. He made no effort to hide his feelings from you, and he didn’t care for either of your parents since neither one of them was there. 

It’s been seven months since you have become his sister, and his feelings were running deeper for you. His hands started to linger, the kisses on the forehead were now placed on your cheek, near your lips. Kisaki couldn’t help the small smile when you blushed when he kissed you. You often turned your head so he wouldn’t get close to your lips. It often left him to tease you about it, but you knew he meant no harm. 

That was until he had you pinned to the counter as you were washing dishes. He had placed several kisses on your neck, and you tried to move but you couldn’t.

“Tetta, stop that. That’s weird,” you complained. You tried to move, but he grabbed your waist and turned you around. 

“What’s weird about it? I love you,” he said. 

You met his eyes and he was staring at you with something in his eyes. You couldn’t quite put your finger on it, so it caused you to attempt to create distance between the two of you. 

“Yeah, I love you too. As siblings, nothing more.”

“I don’t love you as a sibling, I can’t hide it anymore. I love you so much,” he said. 

He placed his forehead against your shoulder hugging you tightly. You slowly wrapped your arms around him to hug him back. 

His confession shocked you, but you weren’t surprised at this point. He had opened up about everything in his life. You honestly felt bad for him, but you never thought he would fall for you.

“We are siblings, our parents would disown us. Society will shun us, this is so wrong, taboo even.” 

“Don’t care, and you shouldn’t either. We aren’t blooded siblings, so there is nothing wrong with this.”

He pushed some hair out of your face before he placed his lips on top of yours. You blushed and tried to shove him away but Kisaki captured your hands in his. He pulled you extremely close and parted your lips. He leaned down and started to nibble on your neck before he started to beg.

“Please don’t reject me, you are the only person that accepts me. Love me. I am sorry I can’t distinguish the difference between sibling love and romantic love. I just want you, don’t reject me too.” 

You knew what he was doing, he was trying to gaslight you, manipulate you, and make you feel guilty. Though you knew it was wrong, and you wanted to tell him it wasn’t your problem, you still couldn’t fight the fact that you knew he struggled with love. So instead of words of spite and hatred, you only said one word that doomed you.

“Okay.” 

That was enough for Kisaki to look at you and slam his lips against yours. You mentally cursed yourself, but you stopped fighting him. Hopefully, he gets bored of you soon and just stops. 

But deep down you knew he wouldn’t. He was obsessive, controlling, and good at manipulating. You were his now that you gave him the okay. 

He sighed softly as he started to suck on your neck, making sure to mark it. You started to shake in his hold, as his hands slipped underneath your pants.

“You are shaking, do you not want to go further?” He asked.

You could hear the hint of hurt in his voice, you shook your head and he frowned. He pulled his hands away, and you let out a mental sigh. He pushed his lips against yours again and you allowed him to claim dominance over your mouth. 

After a few minutes, he parted from you and he had that smile on his face. Like he had won a prize and you couldn’t help but feel warm when you saw it. 

“Don’t worry, we don’t have to tell anyone. This can be our secret I promise.” 

He strokes your cheek lovingly before going back to the living room. You turned around and leaned against the counter shaking your head. You weren’t sure how long this nice act would go on, but you hoped it would last. 

“What did I get myself into?” You mumbled softly.

You met Shoto by accident, bumping into him while you were in a hurry. Simply said, he was allured by your appearance the first encounter though thought nothing of it later.

That is, until the two of you encountered each other again. But this time, it was at a local cafe. Once again, the demon slayer was intrigued by you. And so, he did the sensible and asked if he'd seen you before.

"Oh! I think so... didn't I?" you looked at Shoto's entire form, recognizing the pure purple hair. "Sorry for bumping into you a few days ago."

"It's no problem... err.. I never caught your name," he scratched the back of his neck.

"It's [name], and you?"

"Shoto. Do you mind telling me your recommendations here?" your eyes lit up, you had actually been a regular here so you know which drinks and treats are absolutely delicious.

"Don't mind one bit! See, I usually get..." he half-listened to your ramblings and your personal ratings of the drinks, only really looking at your details carefully.

You two started hanging out a lot more after that, and you eventually learned that he was a streamer.

"Uwahhh! That's so cool! What do you stream usually?" you asked at the time when he told you he had streamed for a living, the both of you just in your cozy house.

"Horror games, FPS games, other types, y'know. The usual games you'd expect me to play," Shoto counted off of his fingers, putting each one up for every game he thought of that he's streamed.

"Cool, I had always wished to have become a streamer myself but I don't think I'm exactly up to the task," you sighed, remembering your past memories and fantasies of being one yourself.

"It's not too late, and I'm right here???" he deadpanned at you.

"I just don't want you to spend too much of your time with me!" you rolled your eyes, trying to make a point with the stubborn slayer.

Shoto eventually convinced you to become one, helping you with each and every step along the way. That was when he knew, that he had fallen for you hard.

He accepted the fact that he wished you could be all his, but it was a bit impossible due to the fact that he just helped you become a streamer and debuted with thousands of viewers.

Coincidentally, you equally fell for Shoto after a few months with streaming with the slayer. Though not to the extent that you'd seal him away from society, nonono! It's more like a fluffy wholesome love.

The two of you had a collab today in a horror game, and just as you were preparing to start the stream fully, Shoto dmed you asking if he could chat with you before starting. Being the great friend you are, you obliged and vc’d him soon after responding.

“Heyyyy, need anything?” you greeted, starting off with a question.

"Not really, except for the fact that I just wanna talk to you, y'know," he answered.

"Yeah sure, I'd definitely believe that. Tell me what's up?" he hesitated to respond to your words, it seemed that you won't be moving your position until you get an answer out of him.

"Don't you ever feel like... you just want someone to yourself? And only yourself?" Shoto finally breathed out, not realizing he was holding in a breath.

"Sometimes, but that's normal. Isn't it? Like a feeling of jealousy or attention-starving is what I feel."

"Err... thing is... that person is you."

this is just a post listing all of the scenes in BnHA which underline Bakugou’s narrative importance and the way that it’s intrinsically connected to Deku and his storyline, because I really want to emphasize that the MORE THAN 300 CHAPTERS OF BUILD-UP just slightly outweigh the literal seven chapters in which he hasn’t played a major role just lately. recency bias is a thing guys, and we should all try to remember that.

not Kacchan establishing his goal and ultimate endgame less than one page after his introduction.

not Kacchan being saved by Deku less than an hour after burning his notebook and telling him to jump off a roof, establishing the contradictory nature of their relationship right from the get-go, and changing Deku’s destiny forever as All Might witnesses this moment and realizes that Deku is more heroic than he ever could have imagined. “you looked like you needed saving.” that’s a line that’s already had at least one callback, and with Deku now struggling in the current manga the time could be ripe for an even more powerful one.

not “win and save” being established as the two cornerstones of the hero philosophy all the way back in chapter 5, with Deku and Kacchan each embodying one of these dual aspects, and being narratively primed to walk opposite paths in their respective hero journeys, only to meet at the middle when they reach the end.

not Deku and Kacchan having an iconic battle less than ten chapters into the series, during which their rivalry is further established and the complicated history of their childhood friendship is expanded on.

not Kacchan’s first childhood flashback revealing that the pivotal, character-defining event of his childhood was baby Deku reaching out his hand and asking if he was okay.

not Deku instinctively reaching out to Kacchan yet again all of two chapters later, making a fateful decision which will have massive ramifications down the line and which will eventually alter the course of Kacchan’s character development.

not All Might being all “THIS FIGHT SURE IS SOME GREAT FORESHADOWING FOR THE TWO OF THEM TEAMING UP TOGETHER IN THE FUTURE AS FORETOLD BY DESTINY.”

not the two of them being singled out in a crowd of hundreds and framed side by side desperately cheering on All Might in his darkest hour in the battle which will change the entire course of the series.

not Aizawa literally saying that class 1-A revolves around Bakugou and Deku.

not Deku and Kacchan having the most iconic battle of the entire series and being all “goddammit I can’t figure out why my entire life revolves around you and it’s driving me crazy” and being fully honest with each other for the first time in their lives, and then having All Might come over and tell them “you two need each other, and you need to learn from each other, because each of you intuitively understands part of what it means to be a great hero, and by working together you will both one day be able to rise to the top.”

not Kacchan, and only Kacchan, being inducted into Club OFA a full two hundred chapters before anybody else.

not Kacchan and Deku obsessing over showing off for each other in the Joint Training arc while All Might looks on like a proud dad.

last but not least, not a whole entire montage of Horikoshi interview quotes with him talking about the thematic importance of “win to save, save to win” (it’s literally what heroism means to him), and talking about Bakugou’s future, and how he’s determined to write an even better ending than the one in Heroes Rising, and how the story will have a conclusion where all of the characters come together in the end.

so yeah. just in case it isn’t clear from all of this,

Bakugou and Deku’s destinies are intertwined in a way that runs deeper than any other connection in the series

the two of them have spurred on each other’s growth throughout the entirety of the manga

their character development has revolved around each other literally from the start

their journeys mirror and complement each other in a way that enriches the narrative

they each represent one half of All Might’s legacy

and their bond is at the center of the series’s emotional resonance

and Horikoshi is not just going to all of a sudden forget all of that and ignore it entirely in the series’s final act. I literally can’t understand why anyone would think that. it’s all right there you guys. 300 chapters’ worth of history and development. this is how it is, and this is how it has always been. like it or not, these two idiots are both in this together, and their respective endgames are inextricably tied to one another. win and save, you guys.

the new defunctland video on the disney channel 4-note mnemonic & disney channel's bumpers is really making me think about one piece's eyecatchers again, mostly about how only 5 seconds of music conveys SO MUCH about each character

luffy's horns are the most similar to the sort of adventurous themes in the OST - like set sail! (not me going "hey wow i know I've heard something like this in the anime" and then checking the full version of this piece again and YEAH i was thinking of the full version.) its adventurous and silly! the trailing notes of the melody feel like you're sailing, letting the music be carried away by the wind!

zoro's theme was once described as "sounding like an army of demons is approaching" and that's never left me. it screams early Zoro, a bounty hunter, trying to look at him through a hot atmosphere

nami's theme is lighter and airier; interestingly, its not overly mischievous. its calm, like a warm afternoon, like nami at her happiest (and then, a tiny rising sequence of notes plucked on soft strings, as if shes creeping around or behind you to steal)

usopp's is so chaotic - i dont know the exact musical term for them, but the arpeggios? runs? they evoke Usopp, well, running! He can't stay still, or hes fighting an enemy and cant take them head on

sanji's eyecatcher music also (memorably) appears in the anime, usually when he does something kinda cool or goofy! i dont know music genres well enough to describe it - is it jazz? blues?? if it were blues itd be a funny pun. either way i think this firmly communicates sanji's position as arguably the most important crew member (he feeds them; if he didnt feed them there wouldnt have been a crew to begin with) through its two strong piano chords & then the deep sturdy horns. but of course, the melody soars and croons a bit at the end, it's his goofiness

chopper has an emphasis on wind instruments, and the way they pull forward and back in the melody is reminiscent of his fear of people & the way he both loves attention and hates it. also it sounds somehow wild to me, like a trail of footprints from an animal

robin's sax (i think that's a sax, I am not a musical expert) is mysterious and mature, it knows what it is and doesnt try to do nearly as many things as, say, usopp or chopper's themes do. but its not closed off, either, the piano dancing upward in the harmony brings in some of robin's levity & humor, even as the melody is sloped downward

franky's theme is interesting to me because it was originally heard in alabasta during Usopp vs Mr 4, but nowadays it's so synonymous with Franky that it's hard to imagine it being used so generally! but the drumroll and the trumpets exude so much energy (the drumroll in particular feeling like a nod to franky's very first introduction) and then the last 3 notes just. SCREAM, in the best way possible. it's such a cool and exciting piece of music, and it's even cooler in its fuller state

brook's theme is haunted, okay! it very much suits his pre-timeskip self, especially the emphasis on orchestral stringed instruments (as opposed to like. an electric guitar or something funky, which might suit his post-soul king character better nowadays). but I like this a lot: the way it opens up frightening, like you're seeing him through the fog, and then it clears up and it's delicately silly. the hints of binks' sake, too

vivi's eyecatcher theme just sounds like a princess, like the kind of disney princess in a white palace from a culture that looks vaguely European in inspiration? it sounds like curtseying and practicing manners; it spirals downward before crawling back up, similar to how nothing seemed to ever go right for vivi through most of the alabasta saga

jinbe finally gets his own eyecatcher and...!! its Luffy's theme. :/ I assume that he'll eventually get an eyecatcher with his own theme, and that this is the music they'll draw from for it - with that in mind, this song has history to it, theres layers and drama. its sincere and determined and wholehearted and I cannot wait to see what they might use from it for an eyecatcher

that's not even to mention the artists who animated these! the OG wanted poster eyecatchers are iconic, and the more modern wanted poster eyecatchers that show important locations to each character are so cool & are an awesome updated take on the OG eyecatchers. My favorite ones, tho, are the spyglass eyecatchers! getting to peek in on the straw hats for a moment and have them interact with the viewer before panning to objects important or characteristic to them is so fun and says so much about each member of the crew and what they're like. they have the most personality of all the eyecatchers to me!

the one piece eyecatchers are so beloved and they have so much care and attention to detail in them. I'm by far a musical expert but I wish I was so that I could accurately point out what's happening in these 5 SECOND LONG(!!!) compositions to convey so much character in such a short period of time

i wonder how sbj feels about fic written for her story? That's why I don't like tagging these posts with the mth tag because I feel like that's both rude and like...

If I made a fanfic for a show I loved, shipping my favorite characters, and I felt like all the ships are basically otp, just for someone who's read my story and liked it, to come and rewrite it to fit their original characters in it, I'd feel... quite odd to say the least. 😐

But I wanted to post this because I was going to post art but it's too late and I don't feel like drawing. I hate drawing rn. It is what it is.

If SBJ ever does come across this post and she's not with it, I will take this down because I get it. It's her idea.

I've been reading this fic since 2014, dead ass, and when I tell you guys I've literally been rewriting the entire story to make my own AU

So before the story -i'm going to get to it, I promise- I just wanna explain the premise here.

Such as SBJ has aged up the ppg and rrb, I've done the same for my characters.

In a very odd sense, Lillian Bella ,and Jenna are remarkably similar to Bubbles, Buttercup and Blossom.

In many ways, such as the way they interact with each other, their personalities and blah, you'll see what I mean as you read the bit I'm posting.

But I'm dead ass when I say, I made my characters way before I read more than human.

Their personalities did shift though because of other things that influenced me. Such as, Lillian is literally Cat Valentine TM and I know ppl say that Bubbles is also Cat but no-

I have based Lillian off of cat since like 2015. before the conversation for Bubbles started online.

Lol but whatever, these characters do read as rip offs :( i'm sorry.

Lastly, Lillian and Boomer where in a relationship. In this AU Lillian is basically the stand in for Hailey, and the break up made her fall on her ass hard. So yeah, maybe one day i'll repost that "chapter" where u can obviously tell she's trying to ask Boomer out before he inevitably goes for Bubbles.

Bella flew on her back as she guided Jenna and Lillian though the sky.

“They live right over there, beyond the other apartment complex,” she ordered them, “see?”

Lillian squinted into the distance, “Wow, you really do have good memory.”

“I’m your fucking sister, you should know this first.”

Jenna flew before them, “Come on, I don’t want to be over here too long. The professor should be on his way.”

“Oh, the Professor’s coming? I haven’t spoken to him in awhile,” Bella said.

“He was at the Introduction dance the other day,” her twin responded.

“I know, but we never got to say hi. Too busy bothered with… other things.”

“Like going to the boy’s house?” Jenna asked.

“Precisely.” Bella nodded.

They continued to chat as they neared the complexes. Talking eased Lillian’s nerves at least. Eventually they made it in front of the door. Jenna knocked.

“Go the fuck away,” Butch’s voice said, hoarse.

“Butchy boy, I brought you a present.” Bella said in a singy songy voice.

“Bella?” he muffled. There was faint shuffling before the locks of the door opened. It cracked as Butch peered.

“You actually came?... and Wow, you really did bring a special gift,” he said, oggling the other two girls. “Too bad I’m too sick to enjoy-”

“Butch let us in, we came to fix you,” Bella ordered bowling open the door. 

He stumbled aside as they walked in, “That’s one way to ask if you can come in I guess.” His slacked expression drifted to Jenna as she crossed the threshold. She didn’t notice him starring.

“This place is huge,” she marvelled.

“So is my room, you wanna check that out?” Butch offered.

Bella snorted, “You’re literally crippled right now, and you think Jenna want’s anything to do with you?” 

Butch was determined, but Jenna moved along the apartment, more interested in the layout and design.

“Butch” a throaty deep voice croaked from a lump on the couch, “I thought I told you to shut up. Why are you inviting fucking guest over?”

Lillian immedeatley turned her head. Boomer was turned to the couch he lay on, blanket over his head.

“Boomer, we’ve got ladies,” his brother grinned.

“I don’t care,” Boomer groaned.

“Don’t worry Boomer, we’ll be out of your hair in no time,” Jenna reassured him. She stood a bit rigid in the dining area, “We’re just waiting on your brother to come so we can get this process over with.”

“You sure you don’t want to stay for the hot tub?” Butch rose a brow.

Lillian was amazed. “You guy’s got a hot tub?”

At the sound of her voice, it seemed the Boomer lump went stiff. 

“Sure, if you guys stay over,” Butch sniffled.

Lillian considered, “Mmmh. No thanks, maybe some other time.”

“Think about it,” Butch muttered.

“I’m thinking about how the fuck you guys are survivng off of just silverware and cereal.” Lillian and Jenna turned to Bella who was scouting their kitchen. “What the fuck are you guys even eating in here? Do you share this?” She shook the cereal box she was indicating.

“Get out of their kitchen,” Jenna ordered.

“No. How about I go get food for their kitchen.”

“Volunteering to be a personal butler?” Butch peered up.

“You’re real funny,” Bella muttered opening their fridge. “I’ve got my own butler to demand around. I cant have a butler and be a butler. That’s just silly.” Just then the front door opened and everyone turned to.

Buttercup and Bubbles stood in the doorway, laddened with grocery bags.

“Huh. I’ve gotta make sure I lock that thing more often,” Butch noted to himself.

“Welcome to the party,” Bella said from the kitchen.

Bubbles instantly rushed to Boomer as Buttercup dropped her groceries, “I didn’t even know we were having one.” Butch helped himself to her bags.

“What brings you guys?” Jenna asked. Bubbles was sat on the edge of the couch, comforting her sick boyfriend.

“We’ve bout some stuff to help the boys feel better in the meantime. I’m cooking soup.”

“You’re going to cook for us?” Butch said, a sparkle in his eye.

“Don’t get too happy. I’m just doing this as a friend.”

“Oh Buttercup, you really are the bestest friend in the whole wide world.” Butch moaned blearily.

“Uh huh.”

“Hey! what about me?” Bella called from the kitchen, closing the fridge door. “I came to help as well.”

“Help raid our pantry?” Butch offered.

“No,” Bella replied back just as snarky, “Help bring my sister so that she can make you guys feel better faster.”

“She’s telling the truth,” Jenna sighed, pulling out a chair for herself, “Lillian is here to help with recovery. But aside from that I have no clue why Bella tagged along.”

“Emotional support.” she said as if it were obvious.

“Guy’s I don’t mean to be a mood killer,” Bubbles said gently from the couch, “but Boomer say’s that he’s really tired and he’d like some rest.”

The room replied with various apologies before ending the conversation. Having nothing else to distract him, Butch eventually fell back asleep on the floor as Buttercup began assorting the groceries, the other girls offering their help alongside her.

“How are you feeling?” Bubbles asked as she poured a fresh glass of water for Boomer and carried it over to the couch. “Any better?”

“I guess. At least until you leave.” He grinned weakly at her, and she smiled.

“Ugh, now you’re making me sick,” Buttercup gagged from the kitchen. Lillian had just finished chopping the carrots and dumped them into the bowl beside her. Jenna was washing dishes and Bella made use with Butch’s playstation portable in the meantime.

Bubbles shot a disapproving look over her shoulder. “Nobody asked you to stay,” she retorted, and Butch raised his hand from where he laid on the living room floor.

“I asked,” he pointed out. “Because Boomer didn’t feel like playing with me. ‘Go play with yourself,’ he said.”

“Hey,” Boomer warned, eyes narrowed. “We got ladies in the house.”

“Ladies cooking for you, no less,” Buttercup muttered under her breath as she set a pot of water to boil. “A little help, Bubbles?”

 She picked up the bowl of vegetables Lillian had just chopped up for her. “Well, at least I got some help. Thanks, Lillian,” she mumbled giving her sister a pointed glare.

Lillian giggled, “It’s no problem. I love cooking.”

“I can tell. You did good with these.” She shuffled the bowl around inspecting the cuts she was granted with.

As she did so, Lillian went to chop some onions, quietly keying on the conversation in the livingroom.

Bubbles looked down at Boomer and smiled again. “Drink your water.”

The look on his face was apprehensive. “Don’t leave me. What if I drown?”

Bubbles stifled a giggle and tried to look serious. “You’re going to drown in that cup of water?”

“I’m very sick, you know. It could happen.”

“You’re just… you’re so silly!” Bubbles laughed, and leaned down to kiss him on the forehead.

“Hey, how come I don’t get any kisses?” Butch sounded upset.

“Bubbles! Help much?!” Buttercup snapped. “Seriously, for Christ’s sake!”

“Alright! Keep your shirt on,” Bubbles grumbled, squeezing Boomer’s hand before heading for the kitchen.

“Please don’t,” Butch said hopefully. “Please don’t keep your shirt on.”

Buttercup pitched a dish towel at him.

Bella who had headphones on and was sat at the dining table, removed one muff not taking her eyes off of her game, “Are you guys seriously talking about fucking while the boys are sick?…. Because that would be actually sick.”

“Put your headphones back on,” Buttercup grumbled pulling out a spoon.

“No. I want in on this. If the room is in favor of an orgy, I am too.”

“But didn’t you just say that was sick?” Lillian blinked innocently as she peeled her onion. Bella was too distracted by the game in her hands to answer.

“She is no help,” Buttercup mumbled.

“Trust me Buttercup, her being occupied with the game is the greatest help you’ll get from her in this situation.” Jenna said nonchalantly drying a dish and setting it aside.

“Yeah, Bella’s pretty bad in the kitchen,” Lillian giggled, thinking furtively back to her sister's many kitchen atrocities. 

Bubbles had joined her side. She was bright, “Ooh! Blossom’s not good as well. I guess we all aren’t so different after all.” she said giddy.

Lillian quietly looked at her as Bubbles, chipper,  reached for a knife herself. She decidedly moved her cutting board to the other counter where Jenna was apart of, “Yeah, maybe so,” she said in a quiet voice. Bubbles blinked.

Some tomatoes was set in front of her.

“Get to chopping,” Buttercup ordered. 

Bubbles rolled her eyes lightheartedly and began chopping up a tomato, all the while she cast Lillian a distrait look over her shoulder.

--And lastly, closure between Lillian and Boomer--

Lillian was the last at the boys house. As awkward as it was arriving, eventually with the day panning along she’d loosened up and got more comfortable. 

After the girls left, Jenna surely left. She checked on Brick before leaving though, but he’d been asleep. Lillian noticed she’d been glancing at Brick’s door all day, especially when Blossom was in it. 

After she left, the professor showed up. He was very delighted to see Lillian and Bella. They talked for a while, shared pleasantries, and then he did his part before waving goodbye. Bubbles had waved too and thinking back to the hard time Lillian was giving her today, she granted her a small wave back feeling a bit guilty. 

Eventually, Bella fell asleep at the table as night fell and Lillian worked on her personal remedy that she needed to give to the boys before she left. 

She looked at her glowing hands and sighed, then casted a look at the living room. Boomer and Butch had left for their rooms. She thought about calling them out, but figured their day was hard enough and shook out her nerves before starting off-

“Want me to go with you?” Bella mumbled beside her. Lillian blinked to her.

“No. It’s fine.” she mumbled before starting for Brick’s room. 

Brick was asleep luckily for her, so she made his visitation quick, so was Butch. Boomer’s room was the door she hesitated in front of. The soft sleep of her sister was just beyond her, like a personal reminder to get a move on.

Lillian swallowed thinking back to the one and only time she got a glimpse of his room. It was a Nirvana poster and an acoustic guitar, and it stayed that way and it was perfect that way when she thought about it. 

She placed a reluctant hand on the knob and twisted very gently, easing the door open as not to make a sound. 

He said nothing. 

She opened the door a little more and shuffled in, trying not to be so awkward about this. She got a good look of his space. There were posters plastered everywhere,  mainly blonde girls and rock stars. She noted those blonde girls specifically though, and wondered, grudgingly, what he’d ever saw in a girl like her?  

His room was a little messy, not as wild as Butch's but messy nonetheless.  He was lied on his bed turned to the other wall with a window shining dimly behind curtains. It was dark, but she didn't want to wake him up so she used the light around her to her advantage. 

When she reached him, she halted, hovering above him a bit. She felt her stomach doing cartwheels.

He slept very peacefully on his side. He didn't snore or breath heavy, he just lay real still, blankets pulled over him. 

her hands tingled to touch him with the remedy. She took a deep breath and reached out for his shoulder-

He turned. Lillian wretched her hand back and gasped. 

His eyes were open but heavy. 

"You're still here?" He asked, surprisingly nonchalant. His voice was still sore, she could hear it, but it was also drowsy. 

"I'm… I'm here to help you." Lillian whispered. "Get better."

"Mhh," he hummed. Then he sniffles. "You're not gonna get sick?"

"I'm immune to the virus naturally," she said fiddling with her fingers.

"Oh. Sweet," he muttered.

She touched his shoulders feeling how incredibly warm he was. It was worrisome, though all the boys had that temperature tonight. The light in her hand navigated slowly through his body.

As she waited for the remedy to pass through, she cleared her throat, a bit awkward. "H-how long were you up? Are you okay? Do you need water or…anything like that?"

"No. It's okay." Boomer croaked. "I wouldn't want to bother you."

Lillian looked simultaneously confused and frustrated, "why would that be bothering me?"

"Because like… you still sort of hate me and all."

Lillian went quiet. She bit her lip looking down. She didn't hate Boomer but…

But maybe she was being a jealous friend. 

She sighed shaking her head, "Boomer, I don't hate you." She said softly. She looked at him, "I'm sorry for making you feel that way."

He coughed and looked down, "You don't have to apologize."

It was quiet for a moment before Lillian muttered, "I feel like I should." 

It was quiet again. 

"Well whatever I did, I'm sorry too," Boomer mumbled. 

"That's the thing," she mumbled. A horrid sense of guilt began to wash over her as she looked down at her shoes. "That's the thing about this entire situation.  You've done nothing. You don't deserve to feel bad because I'm upset. It's just not right and… I'm being a bad friend trying revolve everything around me." She blinked, sadly, "I'm-... you're not in the wrong here."

Boomer looked at her. She didn't catch the gaze he casted her.

“Sorry,” she finally breathed.

His hand was hot as it clasped around the wrist of the hand healing him. She finally looked up into his eyes, though sick, ironically warm. 

“Me too.” He said, his voice soft like a whisper. “About…everything. About how it all went down.”

She could tell, he was talking about something different. Deeper than her entire petty dilemma, and that struck something within her. Something regretful.

Was this the only closure she was going to get? A tragic one?

As she looked into Boomer’s eyes, recalling the look of admiration he once gave her that he now gave to another girl, she came to a stubborn realization.

That perhaps she was asking too much from a boy. A simple boy, who only wanted to move on, and for some reason she wanted to keep him forever. It could simply be that she needed to let him go and appreciate the extension of friendship he offered her over and over again.

Even when she ignored it. Even when she hated him for it. 

The pressure of his hand went slack as he began to drift unconscious, probably too exhausted to keep up with the conversation he engaged with her in the first place. 

She stood by his bedside, hand on his shoulder and her heart heavy.

Bella shook her head awake as a tap came to her shoulder.

“We can go now. I’m all done,” Lillian whispered.

Bella made a loud ‘Phew’ sound that Lillian immediately, sternly, shushed amidst the various snoring in the house. Bella stretched to get up, “You were taking forever, what time is it?” she yawned.

Lillian tugged her phone out, light briefly illuminating her face, “It’s 11:20.”

“Whoo! We just stayed past curfew at the rowdyruff boys house,” Bella cheered. Lillian winced.

“Go. The fuck. Home.” A dark voice muttered from Brick’s room. Both twins looked to his door.

“We should go.” Lillian whispered hurriedly, to her sister as she steered her out.

“But I wanted another bowl of that soup-”

“Come on,” Lillian said, pushing her out the door. She locked the bottom, even if it seemed futile to do so, out of respect for their privacy, and possibly to discourage her sister from trying to get back in.

- doc was a former high ranking employee of concorp before he volunteered for an experiment and it went horribly wrong. since then, the company has tried to erase any evidence of his existence. doc is now seeking revenge for all that the company did to him and is determined to tear it apart

- HI ok follow up asks will be sent later when my thoughts are coherent but concept: cleo has like super messed up healing powers where she can make healing go Too Far. also i pin her as unbound, considering, like, everything - shovel-shuffle

- So, his power was meant to be super-regen, right? except things don't always quite go to plan. Someone volunteered for the powers surgeries and is arguably dead. Etho is a name shared by the many many clones that developed themselves out of the leftovers. They're not quite individuals, not quite a hivemind. Any one of them has no fear of death because the others will continue, but they all act independently around their overarching goal. (which I won't snitch about) - DragonKay

- Bdubs was a hero. Key word? Was. He climbed the ranks through the government, he was a loyal and dutiful member of society, and he used his plant manipulation powers to subdue evil-doers without hurting them. But he’s always been a friendly guy, and he couldn’t help himself—talking to the Unrestrained, especially those in custody, was interesting! ...but it’s a slippery slope to walk, being friendly with the enemy and not sympathizing to their cause. Nobody knows where he is now, but there are rumours of a vigilante with similar abilities, and his three compatriots, two of whom he helped escape from ConCorp... They call themselves the nHo. - slimetek [Bdubs deserted Concorp while helping Doc escape after his experiment went wrong]

- Concorp managed to make a device that allows animals to speak or translate their thoughts into writing. This means that the good old mayor Scar has a certain cat giving some advice on how to run the city.

- Iskall is an assasin/mercenary against their own volition. An accident they'd rather forget almost killed them, and in exchange for their freedom and free will they got to live as a cyborg. - so I think grians original powers could be like cloning, but something goes wrong and the clones are different people. as a result of the duplication process, some funky magic rocks are made. the clones decide to take most of the funky rocks and run off, leaving grian with one rock that gives him some new abilities and the clones' rocks give him others. also uhh mechanical wings bc yes. so grians plot is him trying to find them while also causing problems on purpose. infinity stones. update to my grian ask from earlier, I had better ideas: the rocks are old like magic things that grian finds before the cloning and ends up collecting, but his clones snatch them - simplyskipper [some of the alternate Grians are aligned with different factions in Hermitopia, while the locations of others are farther or unknown]

- Hermitopia- Impulse has solid-light powers. He has golden crystals implanted in his hands, which he can reflect light through to solidify it into all sorts of shapes. This can be used to make barriers, projectiles, and much more, though more detailed constructs take more time.- @mleemwyvern

- Hermitopia AU Poultry man is a well-known chaotic neutral leaning towards good, as a one of the unrestrained.

- I think Team ZIT should be a little be wild card-y, that's how they act after all! [they are employed by the government for standard crimefighting, but they don't always take Scar's word at its intended meaning and often play a bit on the chaotic side when given instructions]

- [Hermitopia AU] False is an antihero/vigilante type who's specialty is not defined by powers or the such, but just... the absolute skill of being able to dual wield two (more sci-fi era) short swords. Maybe someone upgrades them to be "enchanted" (electrical, fire, etc. something that tech could do well probably). She's willing to be paid-for-hire, but if you go past her moral line she's also willin' to backstab you. -- @cheshire-vex [she's a free agent who sort of drifts between Concorp, the government, and whoever else will pay her on a job-by-job basis]

- Hermitopia impulse has more connections then one may think. He has ties to people pretty much everywhere, for reasons unknown. There is a 100% someone will come and greet him wherever he goes. [the greetings are usually friendly]

- Hermitopia Au! Keralis is a hero who most people wouldn't expect to be too skilled at fighting. His power is similar to hypnosis so he has no need to get very physical. Yeah, that changed when some bastard villain decided to attack his friends shop. [that incident caused his employer Scar to realize his untapped potential for protecting people and assign him to a few more high-stakes jobs]

- Hermittopia!TFC was one of ConCorp’s first experiments and as such his powers are a bit less...refined then the others. He has geokinetic powers, allowing him to psychically control rocks and other earthen materials. He used to be one of the VEX programs top graduates, but has since parted ways with them for unknown reasons and now operates his own plans of keep crime in Hermitopia under control. -lechairpourriedegrianri [he is considered Unaffiliated and both Concorp and the government largely leave him to his own devices, since he is helping to keep the city together]

-Wels doesn't have powers. He does have a super-suit made of fire and heat resistant carbon fibre (like the material used for the space shuttle) and has a built in hologram projector. One time, he used the hologram projector to project an image of himself, which everyone thought was a clone. He didn't have the heart to tell them otherwise. (AKA everyone thinks Wels has powers but he doesn't) -Silverwolf53 [he got the suit in Project VEX]

- To follow up on the Impulse ask- Team ZIT are a space-themed superhero team. Government-aligned, at least for now.Tango has meteor-like powers, he can shoot fire from his hands and feet and often uses this to propel himself at high speeds. Zed has gravity powers! He can increase or decrease the density of any object, to the point of making small black holes. They all have space-themed costumes, and it was probably Zed's idea. - @mleemwyvern

Somebody had to oversee him, somebody who was reliable and would never, ever consider betraying the mayor and ConCorp...They let their guard down, and Bdubs got curious. - The hels hermits are considered evil by default. How do you spot these clones, how could you protect yourself? Well in the past it was a lot easier, just look for their red eyesNowadays contacts exist but that doesn't stop people trying to call the police on tango, calling him a hels. Hes netherian, they have unnatural eye colours and their iris fills the entire eye, hes not evil but if people keep doing this hes gonna be!

- Beef woke up from his brain surgery to receive telepathy powers, took one look into the mind of the overseer, and noped put of there as fast as he could go.He's on very public record. After all, the mind control he may be capable of is a very convenient explanation for anyone who turns against concorp... ~DragonKay

- Hypno can’t control minds.They say he does. It’s why he’s named Hypno, after all.In reality, he can’t control people like that... but he can control what they see.Your best friend might look like your greatest enemy. A pit of lava might look like solid ground. A 100-foot drop might look like a step down.It’s a good thing he’s a hero, and a good thing he keeps his true powers hidden beneath a guise of low-level hypnotism. There’s no telling what he could do if they let him go. [he works for Concorp, helping to protect VEX trainees from people trying to harm them before they get a chance to finish the program, as well as keeping other resources safe]

- The 9th Street Incident [referring to an earlier Impulse comment] was a friendly greeting. That particular version of Etho just thought that drawing weapons would be a friendly greeting for Impulse, but Tango and Zed seem to disagree

- They still don’t trust Bdubs. He was with the government for a long time, and things are hard out there on the run. Besides, they don’t know what he got up to there. ConCorp could have any sort of information on him, something that might scare him back.Bdubs understands this. He doesn’t want to go back. He’d hate to go back....but they think he will, and maybe there’s something he’s not telling them. An ace that ConCorp has yet to play.- Slimetek

- Mumbo works for concorp as an engineer specialising in robotics, most recently taking on the task of maintaining Iskall's cybernetics that somehow they just keep damaging. Iskall assures him they're just.. very clumsy. So far Mumbo hasn't caught on.

- Ren's power is that hes a werewolf, but he only found out when he was in his late teens with his childhood friend Iskall. He still feels guilty about it, he did kill his best friend afterall. Or so he thinks.He's lived off grid ever since, too overwhelmed with grief and guilt to rejoin society. Most assume he's dead too - @ghastly-ghostie [Ren dropped Iskall off to Concorp as a last ditch effort, running away before he could see whether they took his friend in or not. They did, starting Iskall's plotline. Iskall told Concorp about Ren's abilities, triggering a panic in the Concorp ranks at the fact that Ren is a superhuman being created by some force other than their own project]

- Where does Void come from? The same place all powers come from.Little did they know, something survived the crash and has taken a human host. Maybe it's not the only one...No, that place is not Concorp. Concorp's original goal was to develop technology by reverse-engineering from a crashed alien spaceship. These aliens did gene-editing the way some people do nose jobs, so they adapted that technology, too.~DragonKay

- i've already said a bit about it in the discord but i have hermitopia cleo brainrot. joe being there was able to save her by giving her the regen powers along with her puppeteering telekinesis power. anyways cleo is presumed dead, sent by concorp into a mission as fodder basically until zit could arrive. but now there's is one (1) bitter undead vigilante against concorp that is presumed dead

- Stress’s name has a few meanings in relation to her. Whenever she gets too angry or /stressed/, she transforms into the StressMonster, a monster that feeds off of other people’s stress to become more powerful. Luckily, the monster is rarely seen, but does terrible things when she is. She’s one of the most feared creatures in Hermitopia. Stress hates her and tries her best to hide her from her friends, but it can backfire sometimes. - @guster-animations

- to follow-up on Joe being presumed dead: remember the time dilation incident he was stuck in? ConCorp figured it was best to cut their losses and not try to send anyone in to rescue him -- it would be a pointless mission. so they abandoned him, quietly announced that he had died in the line of duty, and put the affected area under high security clearance in order to prevent any future accidents. they figured he was already dead. and Joe figures, given that they up and abandoned him, maybe it's for the best that they continue to figure just that. he changed his last name to "Hills" -- a joke about the biome containing the time anomaly -- and otherwise proceeded to stay under the radar. he still uses the time dilation area as a base of operations, sometimes; it's very useful to have a hideout that people physically cannot get into/out of without his direct assistance. is he nursing a grudge, coming up with some convoluted scheme to get back at the paramilitary group for abandoning him? or does he just want to live a relatively normal life off the grid? who knows. that's the Joe [REDACTED] Hills difference. -@betweenlands

- False has some big scary power that is almost Eldritch she just happens to prefer a sword and doesn’t really care for who she works for as long as they’re paying... (they don’t need to know of the power that had harmed the ones she loves the most)

- Keralis once encountered Void sulking around where Xisuma worked. So fearful for his friend’s safety, he used his power on Void and told him to go away. Apparently the charm is still active, because if Void spots Keralis anywhere, he’ll turn tail and run. No, it’s not because he’s scared. Absolutely not.

- Grumbot serves as a sentient supercomputer created by Mumbo for Grian. Grian is using Grumbot for... various activities, all of which harmless, but a certain evil clone [Helsknight] has reverse engineered the technology. Concorp would like for Mumbo to give them the tech, but mumbo stuck some eyes to the computer, got emotionally attached, and refuses to give up his baby boy.

- When Impulse hears his friend/colleague Bdubs has been "taken over" by the mind-controller [Beef], he wants to go on an off-the-books mission to rescue him! Just giving up like they were told to isn't in his nature.Of course the rest of ZIT are with him. Heroes save people! It's what they do!~DragonKay

- Ren used to be friends with Cleo too, but then she died. Strangely enough, she died on the same day that Ren killed Iskall. Ren’s lost all his friends. It’s hard living in isolation when there’s no one left that even cares about you. (Unless— no, that’s impossible.)

- I was thinking about Biffa, like you do. And Biffa would totally be some robot that was created by Project VEX in its early stages, however they realised fast that it was easier to use humans and give them powers, maybe its not their strong suit with robots. But Biff went sentient and glitched and was scrapped so hes just out there doing his thing. Hes a wildcard and plays for which side he wants at the time, sometimes he'll help or sometimes hes the one causing trouble. He looks pretty similar to a android like in Detroit:Become human but hes a bit uncanny and eerie, maybe its the eyes or the blood red armour. Powerwise, he's got more strength than a human does, mainly because he isn't limited like others are. try not to get punched by him, it'll hurt! - Beef is the perfect cover-up for Bdubs’ desertion. ConCorp doesn’t want any other employees getting bright ideas, now, do they? Nor do they want employees getting nosy and trying to figure out where Bdubs went. They don’t have to tell people what Beef’s powers are. They just release that he developed powers after brain surgery, and a rumour that he was spotted lurking around before Bdubs suddenly betrayed ConCorp... and people draw their own conclusions. -Slimetek

- xB is pretty sure he’s supposed to be evil.I mean, that’s what sentient AIs usually end up being, according to a quick internet search. And yet he’s... not. Or maybe he’s just on the wrong side. - Slimetek

- Yes impulse is friends with the nho....what he doesn't know? He's....easily susceptible to hypnosis. Very easily.......Of course, after impulse is basically a very tired n warm cuddle bug, so, cuddle piles tend to happen after all information is spilled. He must've fallen asleep at their apartment again! Whoops! But it's okay.....they take good care of him if he does! [Beef is using his mind reading ability on Impulse without his knowledge, to make sure that he hasn't spilled their location and to predict the government's next moves. He feels slightly bad about it but feels that it is necessary for the nHo's survival.]

- So far, Grian has only ever encountered two of his clones, NPC Grian and Robot Grian. Technically three, if one were to count Ariana Griande. Grian doesn't really, but some do. [Ariana Griande is a popular musician in Hermitopia who is building a career using the magical stone of voice enhancement she recieved through the cloning process]

- To handle the two Grumbot issue: the one working with Helsknight can be Jrumbot, a legion of robot drones meant to work as Grumbot’s physical form that ended up being hijacked by Helsknight and turned against ConCorp

- There...aren’t a lot of “normal” animals left in Hermittopia. ConCorp took one look at the animals populating the city and decided that, hey, they could make some improvements. Species after species, they modified their behavior, appearance, internal structure, whatever they could fix, tweak, or add. They were just improving their lives and the lives of the citizens of Hermittopia, after all, but the new animals quickly outcompeted the old for resources and habitats. And if it makes it easier for ConCorp to stick a camera in one or two of them, or set up robotic animals to keep a better eye on the city, no harm, no foul, right?(Bonus: there is one (1) singular cat left in Hermittopia, resulting in a spy movie-style heist where two teams of Hermits attempt to “rescue” the cat simultaneously. The cat keeps wandering away from both teams. Shenanigans ensue)- Adonis [the cat is Jellie, who orchestrated the competition between Team ZIT and Cleo and Joe for her own entertainment, getting away from both parties in the end]

- The Leak:Not all mutations are the result of controlled experiments! If some alien tech got away from the crash site, concorp never would have picked it up. It might have got into nature, not as refined as they made it in the labs but causing little changes here and there. Ren may have become a werewolf from being bitten by a mutant wolf~DragonKay

- Impulse is able to use his powers to create illusions or male things appear invisible! Sort of. After all, light dictates what we see. It takes a lot of focus, though, so it's not that practical. -@rayveewrites

[Since the "second organization" is an incorrect assumption believed by Concorp, Jevin was created when he came in contact with a waterway contaminated by The Leak. Concorp assumes he was created by an opposing organization and not by accident, and therefore would like to bring him in along with Ren.]

- hermitopia - mumbo and grian were friends back when cloning experiments were still happening (or . as friendly as you can be with someone who's treating you like a lab rat), but after everything went wrong and grian escaped, mumbo has his memories wiped nd thats why he's trusted w iskall's stuff? bc he inherently remembers working on high-level things without knowing where he learnt it - muscle memory, yk?anyway massive angst with grian maybe recognising mumbo, but not the other way round, and trying to rekindle their friendship? and that's where grumbot comes in? -gin [Mumbo's memory was wiped so that he would forget the deadly purpose of Iskall's cybernetics, which he was working on at the same time as the Grian project in the background. Mumbo does not remember creating Grian's mechanical wings or Iskall's arm and eye, and he has no memory of either individual previous to "meeting" Iskall as the person assigned to his repair and upkeep.]

- Etho doesn't so much have powers as he is powers. All the powers the ‘original’ had went into creating him; now he just exists, as whatever sort of being he is. Not a human one, that much is obvious. ~DragonKay [Etho has no powers beyond the hivemind and his training, due to the error in the experiment that caused the clones]

- Mumbo started the button as a joke. A nonsense social expirement to see how much people want worthless signs of status. Unfortunately things got out of hand, and violent too. But hey! It's not his fault that the five special anomalous stones were misplaced into the prize dispenser! It was just chance that they fell into the hands of the clone of the worst gremlin in the city! Don't fire him! [He was not fired, but Cub was Decidedly Unhappy with him for a good long while]

- Void mostly trashes ConCorp facilities- trying to figure out if any of his siblings survived the spaceship crash, but occasionally he’ll pilfer from a bakery, because X is a health nut and Void just wants a gods damned cookie [Void very much dislikes unseasoned chicken]

- If the Stress Monster gets too big, too dangerous, Cleo is sworn under oath to Stress to zap her with her healing powers. Cleo doesn’t like to do it, overhealing a stressed Stress makes her so calm she gets knocked out for a couple of days, but Stress can take a small comfort in the fact that at least one person out there can stop her

- Ooh with the self healing Cleo she'd be able to develop a small amount of super strength, with how the mind keeps from going full throttle because it would destroy the body once she gets over it it's hysterical strength whenever she wants [it is quite painful, but a good backup plan]

- Being a hive mind of disposable clones that can spawn new copies at will, it can sometimes be hard for the Etho Entity to remember that it is indeed a big deal for other people when they get hurt. This can make him come off as callous to those around him, placing him firmly in the "villain" category in most citizen's books, but he really doesn't intend any harm!

- Grian used to be tall, but then the cloning happened. With each clone they stole a little bit of his height making him the short man he is today. He needs to capture those clones and get his height back. [Grian isn't entirely sure how to accomplish this, but he's dead set on trying! He misses being tall!]

- While Grian was perfectly fine with Ariana Griande living her own life, he did insist on one thing.Her "older brother" getting backstage access whenever she was on tour. He's very proud and supportive of her and her music career.

- Mumbo is perfectly content working in tech, watching the other hermits get up to crazy shenanigans. Except of course, there was that one time he was out testing some new gear and accidentally saved a crowd from some villains... and there were all those times after too...But hey! It’s not his fault that people like him, and he certainly isn’t going to get caught by Concorp during his after hours activities. [Mumbo considers himself an accidental hobbyist, not thinking he has the nerve or the skill for proper hero work. Time will tell if he's right about that or not...but unfortunately, he probably is. This should be fun.]

- There’s still some people overseeing VEX, even over Cub. They’re the ones that push Cub to do certain experiments or to scrap one. They’re the ones to give Cub the decision for Iskall’s life debt. Scar was under them too for the longest time, but eventually he wanted out. Cub still wanted in. They were still in the right, right? That’s what they tell him. He’s starting to doubt it. [Cub is way too invested in everything he's built to even think about going rogue now, but he does resent and occasionally question the judgement of his superiors increasingly as his project begins to fail more and more often. He also fears that Scar's shift in career will be seen as a betrayal, rather than as a tactical attempt to gain the company influence in the government.]

- Been thinking about the impulse + nho asks and just,,, what would happen if concorp/the government found out? It cant be good with interrogation/hypnosis on both sides (incase you cant tell,, the brainrot got me as well) (apologies if this is a mess im excited) [Hypno is assigned to set up an illusionary conversation to make Impulse reveal nHo location to Concorp and government agents while thinking that he's actually talking to the nHo in a random encounter]

- The one mind Beef can't read is Etho's. Their hivemind is just too weird for him to comprehend. If he ever tries to listen in, it sounds like just a bunch of static from an old TV.

- for hermitopia au!: Out of most of the heros, the most reckless may be team zit. sure they tell themselves they'll plan out missions but it's hard when they share a braincell and tango just runs in. impulse and zed share a look everytime and have to run after him to make sure he doesn't get too hurt or overwhelmed by the enemy. in their defence its hard to plan ahead against an enemy when you dont know what they are thinking.-lucodak ["You might not have known what they were thinking, Tango, but we'd generally like you to know what you're thinking!"]

- i bet ConCorp really wants to make it out like theres some secret shady organization creating all these people with mutations, rather than their own operatives deserting and their own failure to contain dangerous chemicals... whether its malicious coverups or just ignorance to the fact they messed up, wonder what would happen if that sort of thing came to light...? [If they found out that the unintentional superhumans were a result of the poorly-contained crash site? Cub would lose his job...maybe worse. If Cub found out (and he hasn't, yet) he would do everything in his power to keep that information from his superiors.]

- (paraphrased) Impulse accidentally walks in on heroes and agents breaking down the doors of the nHo's hideout and confronting them. Scar claims that they did so on information Impulse himself provided and thanks him for his service. Impulse, feeling confused and betrayed, resists Hypno's attempts to illusion him back to Scar's side and flees the scene with the nHo, knowing very little other than the fact that he doesn't want to be manipulated by the government any more (and still not knowing that Beef has been reading his mind)

- Impulse may have been labeled a traitor. But do you really think that Impulse, secret rebel, starting to learn how dangerous and corrupted Concorp really is, wouldn't let his best friends know about the danger they might be in? I think Team ZIT is more loyal to each other than to the government. - @mleemwyvern [ Impulse's first stop after escaping with the nHo is to find a place to secretly meet Tango and Zedaph and tell them about the way he was tricked. It takes a lot of explaining and a lot of trust, but they eventually decide to believe his claims and are left with a choice: will they openly go rogue and become a target along with Impulse and the rest of the nHo, or are they better off using their established image and reputation to keep an eye on the government heros' movements from the inside?]

- (two asks combined, paraphrased) Ren runs out of supplies and decides to head back into the city, confident in his ability to stay off the grid after so many years of experience and such a long time away. Once there, he runs into Doc, and they hit it off quite quickly. However, the more Ren talks the more Doc realizes - with his ex-Concorp knowledge - that Ren matches the description of Iskall's main target exactly. He warns Ren, who is then faced with the knowledge that Iskall is alive and assigned to kill him...so many questions and so many tears to follow...

- Why did Hermitopia start needing heroes? When the Unrestrained started to appear, if course. Why did the Unrestrained start to appear? A question asked a little less. When did the VEX program start? When did they start taking more risks? When did they stop caring about certainty and safety and shift towards trying to push boundaries they weren't ready to? People can be so enamoured with the concept of superhuman abilities, something bright and glorious and good- and perhaps they could have that too- they don't ask all the right questions. It's all an elaborate game of damage control, don't let the flashy heroics fool you, they've made mistakes, terrible, terrible mistakes, and now there are villains running loose with powers they fooled ConCorp into giving them. Are they villains? Are they victims? Does it matter? They're causing problems. [Project VEX has developed into a solution to its own problems, a self perpetuating cycle...one that Cub, as a businessman, is very familiar with. It's what keeps the wheels of industry turning. It's what keeps innovation creeping forward. It wasn't intentional, not this time...but if it keeps his project alive, he'll take it.]

- One time, Jevin had narrowly dodged being captured by Concorp. He was laying low in the forest out of town, when he had a run-in with some sort of wolf creature. Thankfully, claws and teeth couldn't exactly hurt him anymore, so he just played dead until it gave up.When the moon set, the wolf-thing slowly transformed into a human being. Ren was horrified at the thought he'd lost control and hurt someone- again- but Jevin assured him he was fine. Jevin got the feeling that the werewolf needed a friend, and Jevin himself needed a place to stay for a while... -RayveeWrites [Ren and Jevin are not currently in the same location, but they each have a means of contacting each other for help if needed]

- Worm Man wasn't a well- known super, but plenty of people have noticed that he seemed to vanish at the same time Team ZIT first started active duty. - A common misconception is that Bdubs conjures up his vines from nowhere. He can't.Like any plant, his vines grow from seeds. They grow unnaturally fast, when Bdubs wills it, but they have to come from seeds. Where do these seeds come from, you may ask?Well, a long time ago, Bdubs ingested some strange fruits. Somehow, in wild defiance of human biology, the seeds contained in those fruits worked their way into his muscles and germinated. Some of the roots worked their way into his brain and fused into it; the rest spread through his muscles, grew beneath his skin, coiled around his bones. Thanks to the way the vines connected to his brain, Bdubs is able to command the vines, and their magic, at will.The vines produce seeds; some stay in his body to replace the old ones when they die, and most work their way into a pair of 'seed pods' in his wrists. Bdubs provides the nutrients, the energy; the vines provide the seeds, the magic. As an extra bonus: if the vines were to be totally removed from Bdubs' body, he would be at best extremely weak, and at worst dead. The vines have grown into his muscles, to the point where they've essentially replaced them in some areas. So one can imagine the stress this causes Iskall, to be told to kill his one remaining friend that he knows is alive. Of course, this stress is quite enough to to Stress's Stress Monster into one it's strongest yet seen forms, allowing for Stress to then get away. (1/2)(2/2) Of course, Con Corp doesn't- and can never- know the true reason that Iskall cannot kill or capture Stress. If they knew, if they subjected Stress to the same hell he's in- no, that cannot happen. So Iskall hires False to protect Stress, to interfere whenever they send him on a mission for her. Luckily, False is good at keeping secrets when she wants to, and this one she'll keep. But as far as Con Corp knows, Iskall has severe stress and trauma from being a cyborg, and that's why he fails. [This all adds up to a monumental waste of Concorp's time and money, which also results in False getting payed, so all parties involved are happy except for Concorp >:)]

- Impulse would take a bullet for his teammates, and he knows they might be about to take one for him, keeping him updated on what's going on government side of this... slander. Still, Tango and Zed are great actors, and if he didn't know better, he might be a little worried they would *actually* be hunting him down in the name of justice [Tango and Zed are now being sent on missions to retrieve Impulse, which they must pretend to lose believably. They occasionally overestimate their friend's abilities and give him a few more close calls than he'd like, but overall the ruse is holding up.]

The sad thing is that Blake's most healthiest option romance wise is someone who gives her space and willing to let her go. Sun fits this description perfectly. But they went with a codependent toxic relationship partially held together by guilt in which one side is clearly submissive and the other too worried and insecure.

Yeah, tbh, the send off to Sun at the start of volume six made me think they would pick up the relationship where it left off eventually for a couple different reasons, but one of them was this reason.

I want to preface this post by saying that A. I don’t really like Bumblebee and I don’t need a reason to dislike it even though I have reason to dislike it, B. I’ve shipped BlackSun from Sun’s first introduction, and C. also I’m coming at this as someone who has been in a co-dependent relationship, so all three of those things means I’m naturally a little biased. I’m not pretending this is all a super objective, impersonal interpretation. This is just me talking honestly about my thoughts towards a ship I don’t like. Bees, I’m sorry if this shows up in your tags, Tumblr is being screwy and I’m not trying to rain on anyone else’s posts. I’m using filterables and putting this under a keep reading to try and make it easier for Bumblebee fans to not see this.

I had - when I saw season six’s opening ep - given the show mad props for writing a romance driven relationship where the partners didn’t have to stay together all the time to still care about each other and be secure. It felt like the perfect move to me to get some distance between their characters while firmly establishing that Sun had never done the things he’d done ‘to win the girl,’ and didn’t consider himself ‘letting Blake go.’ Sun not only being willing to spend this time away from Blake, but to not even need it really said, and to have his own stuff he needed to do as well... All of that felt like a healthy, independent relationship. I don’t mean to get personal on main, but I’ve been in a relationship where I felt partially responsible for my partner’s happiness and he tried to do things like keep me from my friends or guilt me into things. I ignored the red flags because our relationship was important to me, but it made me feel pretty unhappy because I was always worried that if I didn’t do the things he wanted, he would get upset and over-react, and put himself down until I built him back up, and if we didn’t spend the majority of our time together, he would start talking about feeling like I didn’t really care that much about him and how lonely he felt. This was really exhausting to me, especially since I’m an introvert.

Sun always seemed like such a good partner for Blake because he was always so self-possessed, so confident in who he was already, independent and happy and accepting of Blake’s independence. Sun was always there for Blake, but he also was the one usually pushing her towards interacting with others too, they were able to go do separate things and even go on completely different missions with confidence and without drama. For a character who had previously been in a destructive, possessive, controlling, abusive relationship, it had seemed like a scene that clearly established Blake and Sun’s relationship as one where Sun wasn’t expecting Blake to stay with him all the time, respected her goals and her independence, and had his own life and his own friends too. I had kind of just assumed that the choice to have Sun leave the group and go to Vacuo was to further their relationship. Upon rewatching the scene later now that I know that the writers were already starting to try to implement Bumbleby, I can see how the show writers might’ve been intending that scene to be an amiable goodbye where Sun confirms to Neptune that they aren’t actually an item with his ‘it was never about that.’ But I just have to shake my head, because I was giving the writers credit for something they didn’t do.

Instead, they were trying to tie off the relationship between Sun and Blake by having him leave, not cementing Blake’s independence and Sun’s encouragement of that (and they tied it off badly imo because Blake freakin’ kissed the boy lol.) And once they had Sun leave, they started setting Blake up with Yang. I want to clarify that there’s nothing wrong with the writers deciding to go with Blake x Yang, and the ship itself was not a totally baseless one. I’m personally disappointed that one of my favorite RWBY ships isn’t going to be endgame, and I personally don’t like the idea of Blake and Yang as a couple. But my problem isn’t really with the ship itself, it’s with how the show writers have chosen to write the ship in execution.

Getting past the queerbaitery nature of Bumblebee as a ship, the choices surrounding Blake and Yang seem faulty on both sides (which I also think is important to remember. I’ve seen loads of people recognizing that Bumblebee as written in the show is destructive to Blake, but I’ve seen much fewer people talk about how it’s not the best for Yang too.)

Let’s start from the fact that Blake is an abuse victim. She was previously in a relationship with Adam and talks about his destructive and violent behavior. Blake has a really hard time trusting people because of how Adam had acted. He was explosive, manipulative, and he got angry at and hurt Blake specifically for leaving him. The last thing Blake would need is a relationship where she feels personally responsible for the stability of another person. The last thing she needs is to be pressured into staying with someone. The last thing she needs is to be expected to be with that person without the option of ever working with others. The last thing she needs is to be in a relationship where she can’t be apart from someone even temporarily without that person getting anxious and insecure or without having to feel guilty and like she did something wrong.

And yet the show has her in a relationship with someone that has abandonment issues. The show has her promise to stay with Yang in a moment of huge trauma, Blake crying out a desperate denial to the accusations of the abusive ex who had made her life hell, after he tried to again separate her from anyone she loved and she was forced to kill someone she had once deeply cared about. It was also a really weird choice of the writers to have the characters respond to a question over if they’d ever thought about working with other partners with dismissive and cold behavior as if the very idea was somehow wrong (especially since Yang spent quite a bit of time pre-volume six working with Weiss and Blake spent so much of her time working with Sun.) And the writers chose to frame Blake and Yang leaving on temporary separate missions in volume eight to result in insecurity and anxiety from Yang and guilt for Blake. On top of that, Yang is a person with a strong temper and aggressive tendencies. Although she seemed to be trying to work through those problems in seasons four and five, Yang backslid and seems just as controlled by her anger and her insecurities as her volume 2 self now, who had lashed out at Blake and angrily pushed her for not listening in ‘burning the candle.’

As for Yang, she lost her mom when she was very young (Ruby was a toddler,) and her dad temporarily shut down after that. She soon found out her biological mom had left her when she was a baby and spent her whole life wondering why while her uncle spent that time flitting in and out of her life and taking on dangerous missions - the same types of missions that had killed the woman who had raised Yang for the first part of her life. Yang has deep seeded fears of being abandoned and losing her loved ones, and she also has a history of trying to take care of and support the people around her even at her own personal expense. While Yang’s more selfless moments in season five - like giving up her dream of getting answers from Raven to follow and protect Ruby even when she clearly wasn’t wholly healed from her trauma - are admirable, what Yang absolutely doesn’t need in a partner is someone who she feels like she has to protect and save and sacrifice for. What Yang absolutely doesn’t need in a partner is someone she feels like she can’t rely on to be there for her. What she doesn’t need in a partner is someone who can’t give her stability or struggles to trust her. What she doesn’t need in a partner is someone who won’t call her out when she goes a little too far. And yet the writers chose to put Yang with someone who runs on the regular, the only member of their team who thought Yang might be lying about Mercury, someone who needs time and distance when Yang clearly needs someone who is consistent and present. And then the writers made it so that Yang and Blake spend very little time with anyone else. The writers made it so that they can’t be apart without guilt and anxieties.

And you guys, Blake in seasons 6-8 feels so needy. She’s consistently in need of saving, consistently doesn’t stand for herself, seems like she needs a lot of reassurance in her relationship, she’s consistently waiting for other people to make moves, etc. Even when Blake convinces Yang to divulge top secret information to Robyn, when Ironwood confronts them about it, Blake backs up and leaves Yang to explain their actions. In the early seasons, it feels like Yang cares more about their friendship than Blake does and that she’s putting in more effort, which don’t get me wrong, makes total sense since Blake had just gotten out of an abusive relationship and Yang’s clear anger problems (and her using a laser pointer to try and force Blake to talk to her,) might’ve made Blake hesitant to get close to or open up to Yang. But while it no longer feels like Yang cares more, it still feels like Yang puts in more work. Yang is constantly reassuring, protecting, comforting, and stepping up for Blake, while Blake is so passive and acts so dependent that I personally can’t help but feel like Yang must be exhausted. Yang needs stability and reassurance too, Yang needs a partner she can talk to and rely on to be there. When the writers did write Blake as trying to comfort and take care of Yang, it was way too much and had undertones of ableism. And I know, I know they had this ‘we’re taking care of each other’ moment when they were fighting Adam, but that’s just what we were told for one scene, and not what we’ve actually seen in their relationship.

The worst thing is that it didn’t need to be that way. Bumbleby could’ve been a really good ship that built on their foundation. Blake used to be an independent, brave, strong, active character. Blake stood up for herself to Weiss, told Ozpin to his face that he needed to do more for the Faunus, used to have a great, creative fighting style, used to be this sassy girl who’d banter with Sun and with Yang and when she did start opening up to Yang, it was a great way to start evolving their characters to be a strong relationship. In V3 when Blake admitted that she had doubts about Yang due to her past experiences with Adam, but opened herself up and decided to trust Yang anyway when Yang looked her in the eyes and told her sincerely exactly what had happened... That was so great and it really showed off the dynamic the two of them were starting to adapt. CRWBY might’ve immediately separated the two, but A. Seasons four and most of season five had great set up for them to work through their problems and then continue to grow that great dynamic we started seeing in the first three seasons. And B. their respective arcs continued their growth as characters even apart from each other. While I wish that RWBY had let the two work some of this out together, the growth that we were getting did make them more suited for each other. I’ll always ship BlackSun. But Yang getting a hold on her emotions, maturing, starting to work through her abandonment issues, and displaying just what a caring, honest person she was, at the same time that Blake was working through her past and her fears, learning to let people in, strengthening her resolve, and coming into her own as a leader... Come on, those two characters could’ve easily developed a good, healthy, strong, independent relationship and I’m legitimately sad that’s not what we got, especially since we sacrificed so much of Blake’s personality to get a worse ship.

I don’t even know what to say about it, tbh. Idk what else the writers expected us to think with how they wrote things. I’ve heard before that there was probably a cut scene in volume eight that included Yang and Blake fighting (which would then justify Yang and Blake’s reactions when they reunited,) and I do believe that, but the writers chose not to include it, and that made them look worse as a couple. Just like they chose not to include a scene where Blake and Yang work through the problem of Blake having left Yang without a word of explanation at the end of Volume 3. And they didn’t include a scene where Blake explains herself and Yang realizes that maybe she was being a little shortsighted about the trauma Blake had also gone through. And they didn’t include a scene where Blake actually learned that she didn’t have to protect or take care of Yang in volume six. And they haven’t included a scene where Blake puts just as much effort into their relationship as Yang does. And they didn’t include a scene where the two make it clear that they’re fine being apart. If anything, CRWBY has established the opposite, and it isn’t enough to just say that they’re taking care of each other, when they don’t show that to be the case. 

Sun being not only willing to let Blake be with others, go her own way, and be her own person, but encouraging of that, made him a very compelling romantic prospect for her. Unfortunately I just don’t see that with Blake and Yang. Their relationship feels co-dependent, and maybe it’s just my personal experience talking and making me chafe, but I personally just don’t like it.

However, fans have been queerbaited long enough. So personal opinions aside, CRWBY give Bumblebee some confirmation you fucking cowards.

so you wanna know about the god of k-pop choreo? oh yeah, i’ll talk to you about fucking kai! if you dance, this guy is the #1 must-know. once you see him move, there’s no going back. i don’t exaggerate: kai is the gold standard. brace yourselves, i’ll show you why.

kim kai aka kim jongin (27) is a solo artist and super m’s plus exo’s main dancer — est 2019 and 2012 respectively — heading either group with a passionate, hyper-physical style that roots in his early practice of of jazz dance and ballet. the influence definitely shows. 

learning choreography, he’s become the gorgeous fusion of emotional grace and explosive power that unites both tension and extreme accuracy. while at the same time: never sacrificing his interpretation. and HOW MUCH HE BLEEDS FOR HIS CRAFT. he enjoys it so much. 

and he’s communicating it 100%, jongin’s dance is so interactive and raw, luring. i swear to god, put the seatbelts on for this one. it’s never just him, it’s you as well. you’ve never seen this before. he’s like “yes, i meant you, i’m looking at you”:

he’s even gonna modify the choreography to point right at you to underline that very thought. he’s so good, he can learn it, ace it, epitomize it, and do his own thing anyway. even the person in the last row will get whatever point kai wants to make. this is dance that belongs on the biggest stages.

even when he films without a crowd, it’s like you’re literally standing opposite to him. he focuses on two people: his moves, and the viewer. he has it look like you made him smile and self-aware, or you made him determined. INCREDIBLE. he shows his charisma, BUT he also shows your own (!) impact on him. it’s a duet. he wants you to join him on the dancefloor. this is from exo’s call me baby mv where kai does his famous come-hither:

he flirts and he encourages. he values the audience and wants them to be confident as well. i think it’s the reason why he’s so outstanding and addictive, kai thinks beyond himself. it’s a tango he involves you in with his eyes and how he opens his body, interprets a lyric.

it’s not about imposing himself going one way. instead: he plays the back and forth ALL. THE. TIME. in any context. whether it be frivolous, or fun, or gloomy, or sweet. even with a simple little smiley wink it’s happening. and he acts like you had a reaction to it. there’s literally just a camera.

this guy’s physique, strength, elegance, feeling for the beat, character portrayal (!), and control is unbelievable. he’s destroyed it in every fancam out there. he can’t switch it off even if he tried. your eyes would go toward him in the largest group formation still. put him in the center, that’s his spot, he showcases it.

because he doesn’t just show learned moves, he makes it radiate something dynamic and animalistic (he embodies superm’s ‘tiger inside’ all the way). 

jongin’s dance says: i love this, you love this, let’s do this, the feeling is right. he makes bodies and unrestrained touch the opposite of wrong, he pronounces it a source of having fun and being instinctual. and he never breaks the tie with you throughout, and uses his shoulders and lips to put the oomph into it. 

he uses innuendo and a ‘we both know’ sentiment perfectly as an invitation rather than just going through his routine. that’s how he can make each move fascinating. you can tell kai knows exactly how to make everyone scream their lungs out. i bet somebody held their breath just reading this post already.

exo’s most famous choreo is ‘monster’ (kai focus linked) with good reason: jongin can turn himself into nothing short of a roaring beast. it’s one sharp, complex move after the other. kai can bend any gravitational law he wants to show any feeling and pose he wants. a glimpse:

now, how to spot him in general if you’re new to him? here are some pointers. kai’s execution is clean, fast, and powerful. those are two decades (!) of experience showing. kai is an all or nothing dancer, he plays no games. he treats every group and solo stage like his best and last. his work ethic is beyond words. yeah, he’s a capricorn. his style is direct as can be, working every axis.

as you can see, jongin is hard to overlook anyway: he’s a 182cm giant made of steel. he strives to acutely visualize impact in his style and it is always successful. in fact, it’s his signature. it’s like he creates invisible objects and pushes through them. boom, he just burst another bubble.

when the song gets to his part, i guarantee you won’t miss him and all the boldness and expression he brings to enrich the performance. hell... he carries it. jongin can handle the center, i’m telling you. (look how fast he rotates here)

talking features — this is what to look for when he dances in a group setting: you can recognize kai’s face by how wide, bluntly structured and sensual it is. jongin is a sight. he has such an aura, serious, sultry, and smiling alike.

with a very recognizable silhouette (like... holy hell!):

he’s very cute as well ♡ the fandom and kai himself have an adorable analogy going on. jongin calls himself a teddy/nini bear and we joined in on it. (i made a thread about it here, it talks more about his offstage life) — hence kai’s fans are called eri-gom, eris as in exo’s fanbase and gom meaning bear. 

and i mean. look at him. what an attractive guy. he’s that handsome. strong brows, teddy eyes, square jaw, swept hair, glorious lips, tan skin. 

now yes, something important concerning his appearance and a serious topic: i don’t want to list you the endless instances of colorism that kai has to endure but it has to be mentioned. jongin has been called every name in the book and people agonize him over his skin incessantly. it goes on and on and on. every day a new terrible comment about him emerges because some pitiful person thought it was funny and would elevate them. 

he’s had to deflect, ignore, reframe, defend, remotivate, assert, harden, prove, denounce, and push himself, protect his confidence, decline skin bleaching constantly, laugh along, dance and practice thrice as hard to get the respect, and still see his dignity torn to pieces all day. i’ll just give it to you straight, that’s all fucked up. kai’s skin is perfect, he’s amazing and wonderful.

having him at the bottom of every joke is weird and messed up. this man is an utter beauty and nothing has to be fixed. it is up to him to define himself rather than get called ugly for his skin’s appearance by default, and get whitewashed at every opportunity. it’s been going on for 27 years, he scrunitizes himself all the time and doesn’t look at himself fondly because he hears these beatdowns daily.

it’s heartbreaking that this happens literally with no end in sight (’kai is just a stripper!’... ‘he has bad vibes’... ‘darkest guy jongin!’). for his skin, and how he decides to show it, too. jesus christ his skin looks fantastic, end of debate. they just can’t handle him, kai couldn’t be any more immaculate.

jongin has vigorously protected fans from discrimination, bullies, and shaming himself whenever it came up. in a very straightforward and deadpan manner because he knows exactly how it damages you. (”J” in the subtitles = jongin, he’s wearing the plain white top at the very back)

we need to protect and praise him that way right back. it’s important.

so, needless to say. all in for jongin getting the center stage he deserves. because he has the wow factor in every regard. kai usually opens an MV because there’s no better way to get people’s attention with that level of presence. with kai, you can’t go wrong. if you get the center in a an all star group like superm, you are the king.

being part of that presence, kai’s stage alter ego has reached levels of infamity you can’t even imagine. it’s great to see him being sovereign without apology.

and it doesn’t stop there. he shows time and again that acting, props, and commanding the audience has to be mastered to be an exceptional dancer. kai owns his sex appeal. sometimes, he even dances a portion of choreo with his eyes closed because he’s feeling it so much.

he is a pro in using his surroundings as well, superm’s stages are a glorious opportunity for kai to show how he comfortably ‘lives in’ the 3D space around him.

which makes the viewer do the same: watching kai makes you feel amazing, energized, but also serene and enjoying the moment. 

there’s always balance. it’s the magic of it. e.g. he comes along with so much impetus and decisiveness but eventually, he halts to offer himself. here i am — take me. i’m yours. closed arms, open arms. walking, kneeling. looking down, looking up.

kai goes every extra mile there ever was and makes each eye contact count. involving the audience, one grin at a time. it works. it’s about establishing contact. he connects to the onlooker with so much nuance. 

kai’s smirk is notorious and you can see why it’s so raw and real: he makes it linger. it’s such a duality since his dancing says i’ll come over, while his message is come and get me, i know what’s on your mind.

with a hilarious twist – kai expertly uses humor. you don’t get that in many dancer repertoires. i love it. all those quick expression changes. his smile! 😊 what a man.

so — what makes him so good and known: yes, his style doesn’t deny that dancing and eroticism are one in his business. that takes courage. kai has it. iconic performances have been his reward. point dance/killing part: exo’s love shot choreo. 

that suit has swept the nation. what’s more: kai shows you it’s more than just good hip movement that a good dancer needs. he does everything at once, he puts the pleasure on his face, all his limbs are following the template he chooses.

the thing is. kai couldn’t be any shyer, but when the music starts he becomes a oscar-winning madman. he emotes constantly (!) and stays in character. this is gold.

jongin always plays it up. he knows how to use that face and does a lot of power posing. this is how visceral looks like. he’s interpreted exo’s aggressive concepts to a T.

and he has so. much. fun. it propels him. on every beat.

past every hurt, heartbreak and injury, man. if you know about his genre you knew this was coming, kai does all of that with 4 herniated discs. since debut days, never recovered. every gif in this thread, he dances with a battered spine. wheelchairs, stage collapses, relapse-recovery-schedule tales, the dilemma of injuries being inevitable, limping, kai falling into depression during breaks, constant pain killers, countless tears on stage, we’ve seen it all, the extreme end of it. 

kai works out like hell to literally keep his body from falling apart. but it doesn’t help the nerves in his back that are impacted. doing choreo you can sometimes literally see the pain kicking in and he pulls himself through with force for the last minute. once you know how strained his back is, you can see it.

at the end his expression goes fuck now it’s coming when the adrenaline fades. he takes every second-pause he gets to rest but still finishes each move. even when he holds back, he keeps it together and executes each turn. sometimes, he has to restrict himself and soften his movements to protect his health (especially in hard choreographies such as lucky one which is universally disliked by exo — still jongin makes the very best of it smiling bright and dancing so hard his sleeves come off).

he frequently states he ‘dances in any case unless his legs are affected by something’. all torso injuries are fair game, this guy is hardcore. and people claim he’s just pretending. chen (a fellow exo member) says not a single part of jongin’s body is intact. he has paid every price to get this far to follow his love. he’ll step on stage with crutches. he works SO HARD.

that being said: exo being called the official nation’s group, i say kai is the nation’s dancer. period. he has had his great moment at the korean olympics flawlessly dancing in a hanbok with traditional instruments and fulfilling his dream. 

i love the tension and drama he can bring. he can also thrill with slow, vulnerable movements alike.

kai’s is called a legend, he’s all that and even more. the facial expressions alone are feared by any kai stan because they hit home. 

this guy is a sex icon and goes off like a gun, messing around was never kai’s incentive. 

while at the same time being incredibly nuanced and so, so descriptive with his movements.

point dance: baby don’t cry. yep, kai has danced in water. must-watch.

this man loves what he is doing. he said he wouldn’t regret to die on stage because dancing is his destiny. boy, it shows. this guy has found his purpose. he can tell any story he wants. he’s a complete artist.

he’s perfectly portraying his incentive and he couldn’t look any more like a god on earth.

long story short, kai is dance and motivation goals. if you dance professionally, you can easily look toward him for the right words.

if you want to further your study and knowledge: he released a self-titled solo album recently. highly recommended. he worked forever on it, and he’s really dishing it on there. you get to hear his soft voice plus sizzling footwork. and he isn’t even getting started yet. you’ll hear from kai, i promise. he constantly achieves new levels of artistic perfection.

a last remark. jongin is amazing for a myriad of reasons that go beyond what i show you here given the post focuses on his work on stage. but the point stands, while other people have tried to break him, he broke through every barricade instead and stood up for himself. we can be extremely happy to have him and witnessing his unreal dance is an exceptional pleasure. here’s to jongin continuing his passion and confidence, healing, and getting the sweeping respect and acknowledgement that is his.

Why the Dream SMP’s way of storytelling is IMPOSSIBLE to recreate in any other medium.

This has been in the back of my mind for the longest time. I think I finally got it.

People have talked about this before, and they’ve put forward some good points, and good for them – most of them are correct. It’s the way the ccs interact with each other, it’s how plot is mixed in with banter, that’s all good! I wanna put more out there.

So you know how you open a book to read, you start a new show, you sit down to watch a movie – that’s all produced by some sort of company, someone who made it specifically for you to enjoy. You expect a certain dramatic flair to it, certain cinematic choices, certain ways of writing, certain camera angles, certain reactions to things. That’s just ingrained expectations of things now.

The DSMP? Doesn’t have that.

The low expectations work very much in its favor. It’s a Minecraft role-playing server with a bunch of famous youtubers/streamers, who are all good friends and have great dynamics with each other. So when you expect “just another Minecraft video” but in stream form, or you watch the videos because there are certain people in them, you don’t expect to be dropped into extreme lore and sensitive topics, realistic situations proposed in game form, a combination of serious stuff and just fun times with friends goofing around – and you’re pleasantly surprised.

We, the fandom, are used to it a bit more now. How excellently they manage to make a serious story in such a “ridiculous” medium, how much it affects us all and gets our creative juices flowing. But even the ccs can’t predict some of the things that happen. And that’s fun.

The whole election ending the way it has? That was on us. And it made some of the most angsty content there has been in the DSMP. People still theorize about the arc and make connections to now – that’s pog!

Fundy being adopted by Eret – that sparked the whole “Fundy just wants a dad – let’s get him some love” thing that made FundyWasTaken and other Fundy+someone ships happen. I see a different person paired with Fundy every week, and somehow, I agree with all of them. I really got into Fundy because of that stream where Eret “slept through the adoption” and Fundy confronted his real dad and spent time with his granddad. That little stream gave us more insight into Fundy’s whole character (Nevermind Fundy showing off his acting skills – you go you funky little fox), but also justifies some of his actions now. DryWaters? Wanting to kill Technoblade? Fucked up reasons, but we still love him.

Phil being broken out of house arrest ahead of time – still made a great stream and Phil agreeing with Techno’s want for revenge – that made us all very happy. The SBI!!! The AE! And that’s also a thing!

That even if we do know or have predicted what’s going to happen, begged it out of the ccs basically, it is still incredibly fun to watch. Where some books/shows/movies fall short and reveal too much and end up being “too predictable”, they’re not fun anymore. I read this somewhere before, that sometimes holding back EVERYTHING from the reader, and relying on shock value to make a good story is just bad. Whereas if you progress the story naturally and let the reader make some predictions of their own and then they end up being right – that’s a lot of serotonin right there. It’s the re-readability that makes it slightly better the second time.

The DSMP takes this concept and fucking yeets with it. Letting fans engage in the story, letting them theorize and then be right, even acknowledging the fanart that was made, just engaging with the community that their roleplay created – that makes it so much more fun. I bet that even if the whole script was revealed to the fandom we would still watch every plot stream. Even if we knew vaguely what happens in the stream, we would tune in and enjoy every second of it. Because the ccs are just that good, we love them that much, we love this plot that much.

Oh and the unpredictability helps too. Tommy in exile was the vague concept of a lot of the streams – it’s taken that and ran with it in a lot of different directions. All quite enjoyable.

Having said all of that… The fact that this type of telling a story is impossible to recreate in any other medium is… kinda saddening? It is incredibly unique, and I’d say has things that not a lot of the people that produce mainstream media would even consider. “Just friends hanging out” – how would that make the script progress? “Engagement with the fandom, even considering their wishes for the characters” – but we’re telling a story here!

The only thing I can think of that would come close to the vibe, would be just a bunch of writer friends coming together, thinking up a universe and general plot, and then each deciding to write a few of their own characters in that universe. When one author focuses on their main characters, the side ones can feel left in the dust, or not fleshed out. The DSMP is just “every character can write their own story”, which takes a lot of the strain from the “main writers”. But the general thing of “just friends hanging out” would be taken away from it. We’re being serious here, why would we change the tone so quick?

With all of that in mind… I kinda wanna make some predictions? And I don’t know if they’re correct, but it’s fun to theorize. See?

1. L’manburg will die.

And not just because Techno has 54 withers. The country is cursed – it definitely is. There is little sentimental value that can be felt for a few flimsy stilts built on top of a crater. It might go out in a blaze of glory, with the withers (Is history repeating itself an interesting enough plot point to recycle a whole arc?), but it might just be forgotten. Yeah there have been some angsty headcanons about how “no one cares about L’manburg anymore, save for two people” and it just gets abandoned, but how about it just becoming irrelevant?

This all comes back to Dream, it always does! His want, need for the server to be “one happy family again”, it just means one thing. He wants the server to return to the peaceful anarchy that it was before L’manburg. No rulers, no factions, no nothing.

That’s never going to happen.

Try as he might, Dream cannot affect that change that L’manburg did to the server. The introduction of a faction, one that can exist without the interference of a higher power – why do you think so many factions have sprouted up since? And it’s not even serious factions a lot of the time, it’s just a few friends deciding to build their bases on a plot of land that they claim is a nation now. L’manburg has changed the mindset of these people, now an alliance with somebody is a political move. An alliance doesn’t exist if it doesn’t have a faction, and that faction can remain neutral for only so long.

Basically, L’manburg introduced the factions mod into the server.

And the fact that every faction now has enough relevance to hold weight in a war also means that every nation on the server is doomed to follow the downfall of L’manburg. Eventually, they will get into a fight they can’t win, go up against the wrong people, anger someone they shouldn’t have. All factions will either be destroyed, or lose relevance, until their creators, residents and such just… move on.

(And really you can go into meta and talk about real governments and compare them, but it’s far more simple than that. The server isn’t built for peace, it isn’t meant to be a relaxing place where you can just vibe, it may have been made for a few friends to play Minecraft together, but it has turned into An Author’s Curse. The curse that follows any kind of story being told – the fact that peace is boring. People watched the first streams of the DSMP because they liked the ccs, and that’s valid. But how many more people tuned in to watch the war streams because there was PLOT and there was CHAOS and there WASN’T CALM PEACE ANYMORE – that’s the curse of every writer. That you can write about someone just living their life drama-free, you can make interesting peace with characters or circumstances, but it’s always leading to one inevitable conclusion – war, drama, because people read that. And at this point, it’s just a predictable outcome. No matter how much you say that you are retired, that you’re done with violence (Technoblade), something will happen that will prove to you that you believed in people too much. No matter how “neutral” you may be in the matter, no matter how much you claim that you have no allegiance (Philza), you will be forced to pick one, because out of all the bad things, you pick the least worst one, the most appealing to you, the one that can benefit your want of revenge.

And I can go on, but this is far too deep for one simple reason – The Author’s Curse is so prevalent here because THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO STAKES. It’s a video game – you die? You respawn. Something gets destroyed? You can just rebuild. Sure, you’ll want to kill the person who did wrong to you, but whatever they did wrong can just be replaced, remade, recreated. So why not have wars? Why not cause massive amounts of destruction “for the plot”?

It’s literally a playground. How all authors have their little playground with their characters that they meticulously plan out, the DSMP is that playground for all of these people.

And it’s fun! Sure! I like it! I’m just really skeptical whenever someone in character says that they “just want peace”, “are retired”, “swear off violence”, “are building just a little city for themselves”. Because you can do that, nothing wrong. But eventually, no matter how much you distance yourself from all of the chaos happening, all of the wars, you will return.

Because it is just much more fun.

It’s the curse. A cursed cycle.

And everyone is in it.)

2. The prison.

I don’t have anything on the prison because I don’t have anything on the book. Yeah I’ve done a whole post where I overanalyze what it could be, but it doesn’t make it any clearer. Whatever it is, it’s made out to be a huge plot point, something that can only be revealed when the prison is finished.

Cursed. The prison’s reason for being constructed is the book, but the book is only relevant when the prison is finished. We can only wait, and theorize, as we do.

(My only theory is that the book is information about another op on the server. Or at least something related to op or creative mode. Dream only fears one thing on this server, and that’s Technoblade, so if his one fear is the most skilled player on the server, what else could give him existential fear?)

3. The SBI.

Again, I don’t have anything! Yeah the reunion seems to be going smoothly, one member at a time, but there is already conflict in their beliefs among each other. And all that’s happened is a vague “maybe one day we’ll strike”.

Is history repeating itself an interesting enough plot point to recycle a whole arc?

Is L’manburg’s destruction AGAIN really necessary to hammer home the idea that no one likes that place anymore?

I don’t know. Whatever happens, no one’s in the right. No one’s in the wrong either. They’re all not good people and that’s that on that.

4. The Clingy Duo.

(Okay seriously? All of these arcs are connected. You know what happens when everything seems to be connected to one another?

A giant, dramatic final showdown between the two opposing sides.

Cause it’s just Chaos vs L’manburg. Those are the sides. People that want L’manburg to exist and people that want it gone. There are no other sides, there isn’t someone who’s like “Well maybe it can exist if we do this and this” cause no one wants to put in anymore effort into this cursed country. The only people were the clingy duo and now they’re separated and everyone is just leaving and Tommy is on the Chaos side like at this point he doesn’t care about L’manburg he just cares about Tubbo but he has to convince Tubbo to leave L’manburg but will Tubbo be convinced but will Tommy even consider leaving L’manburg and breaking free from its curse AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Goddamit.)

5. The Egg?

Dunno shit about it. Like the prison – it seems important, but we’re just not being given enough information. Is it a coincidence that the moment Dream commissioned the prison the Egg popped up? Or are the two directly related?

I don’t know. But as long as someone is finding ways to fight the Egg, that’s fantastic. Bad juju indeed.

6. Oh the Butcher Army want to kill Dream!

Hah.

Okay I’ve seen people make the case that the Army is just a bunch of people with trauma repeating the cycle of ab*se that they went through and yes.

Just yes.

And the fact that no one is actually looking at it that way and no one is there to like.. help them or even help them understand that what they are doing is just irrational, even though their reason for doing it and the result they hope to achieve is YES and the only thing that a lot of the people of the server who want peace should try to go for as well, they cannot stand up to Dream on their own. They just can’t, they will get punted into exile. They need allies, and they need powerful ones, people that have also been wronged by Dream and want him gone.

But the cycle continues, and no one knows where it ends.

(Okay but from a writing perspective? Getting rid of Dream is the end goal. It is the be all end all of all conflict, well… most of it, at least most that’s related to the supposed “good side”, or “the side that’s been most victimized”. But from the same perspective, that side is just… no longer. It has proven that is just as bad, if not worse than the final boss. I have to agree that Techno has to pay for his crimes, even though I like him a lot, but Techno did in fact cause insane damage. Yeah L’manburg rebuilt, yeah Wilbur probably caused more – still he isn’t completely free.

But that’s a discussion on morality more than laws.

L’manburg is doomed to die. Dream is doomed to be fought, and probably won against (simply because he has won far too many times already, you know how everyone seems to hate OP characters…). But the Butcher Army is doomed to fail against Dream. So how does that work?

Welp.

Is history repeating itself and interesting enough plot point to recycle a whole arc?

The answer is no.

I’ve repeated that question three times now, and the answer to it is no. No it is not. L’manburg can be destroyed again, and it can be rebuilt again, but the sentimentality that people feel for it will not remain. The cycle of history ends somewhere, and it’s not too far a fetch that it ends here.

So what happens when Technoblade, Philza and Tommy roll up to L’manburg with withers and a destruction wish, only to be met with a bunch of traumatized children with axes and a death wish?

Well, I’ll spare the details, but from a purely writing standpoint…

The two sides team up.

Think about it – The Butcher Army doesn’t care about Technoblade anymore. They’ve seen that Dream is the one pulling the strings, they know that even if they do care about trying to eliminate Technoblade again, they have to get rid of his strongest ally – Dream. But through their anger, they’ve lost their fear. You should fear Dream, he’s a fuckin op. Techno is correct in not wanting to go against him.

But after Tommy? After seeing the Butcher Army at their lowest, screeching about Dream being the villain?

Will Techno finally go past his thinking of “government is evil, always government is source of problem” and realize that Dream has the most evil government in mind for his rule?

I’m still kinda sad that Techno isn’t making the conclusions he should about Dream. But he’s starting to – and really, the SBI-Butcher Army team up is the most logical thing that could happen.

Watch me be completely wrong or miss something and I’ve got ALL of it wrong. I would love that.)

(Also it’s very funny to me that Dream is literally simping for Techno while he’s just here like “Listen bud I would stab you on sight if you didn’t have creative mode”. Dream KNOWS that Techno can and will kill him given the opportunity. Techno knows that that opportunity may never arise.

It’s a weird type of stalemate, to be sure. But goddamn is it interesting.)

stamp of approval

time: november 2019

pairing: yuqi x yuri + wooyoung

summary: wooyoung walks in on somthing he maybe shouldnt have, but he ended up handing yuri a stamp of approval at the end.

attack on titan was playing on the ateez’s dorm’s tv silently in the background, and both yuri and yuqi seated on the couch together peacefully. they were both alone at dorms, besides wooyoung, but he was in his room, unbothered at yuqi’s presence.

yuqi didn’t understand attack on titan at all, but she loved hearing yuri’s reactions to scenes and loved hearing her talking about her favorite characters for hours on end. she found it so incredibly cute, and was amazed how hard yuri thought about the show itself.

yuqi was confused on the current scene, although yuri gave her best to explain the first two seasons to her (it just confused yuqi more), there was still cerain scenes that needed more background information than a ten minute recap.

when yuqi turned her head, she felt a weight on her shoulder that she didn’t notice before, and she heard an oddly sound of quietness next to her too.

yuri was fast asleep on her shoulder, and her arms were clinging onto yuqi’s arm. yuqi quietly giggled and paused the show, knowing yuri would be annoyed if she missed the episode, and softly stroked yuri’s head with her free hand.

she heard a door open behind her, and turned to find one of the sleeping girls members entering the living room, halting when he saw yuqi in the living room.

“oh sorry, i didn’t know you were still here.” wooyoung said, bowing to yuqi, not having a conversation with her without yuri, and those were just introductions. he felt very awkward, even inside his own house.

“oh it’s okay, i’m about to leave, yuri just fell asleep.” yuqi softly smiled, trying to softly position yuri so she wouldn’t wake her.

“she would want to wake her before you leave, or else she would sulk for months.” wooyoung slightly joked, causing both of them to laugh. they both knew that sulking yuri was very hard to cheer up, and she will not stop complaining for weeks.

wooyoung went his way to the kitchen, wanting to still be able to listen to their conversation, but not stare them down at the same time. he wanted to be nosy. not that he thought they were up to something, but wooyoung had his suspicions that they were much more than “just friends”. this was the perfect time to secretly see if his guesses were correct.

after wooyoung left for the kitchen, yuqi debated for awhile on what would be the easiest way to wake yuri up, she eventually decided that gently speaking to her would be the best option.

“yuri, i’m gonna head home. angel, wake up please, i want a hug.” yuqi cutely pouted and whined, while softly rocking yuri in her arms, causing the girl to whine softly, to yuqi’s great suprise, and rub her eyes.

“please don’t go.” yuri pouted and looked up at yuqi, giving her the biggest puppy eyes yuqi has ever seen.

yuqi swore she would have done anything for yuri in that moment, and she could literally feel her heart melting. she was shocked as well, since she rarely saw yuri act cute, she despised too.

“i’m sorry, i don’t want either of us to get in trouble.” yuqi said, gently stroking yuri’s hair when she huffed, and laughed at the dramatic girl.

“at least give me a kiss before you leave.”

yuqi stared at yuri dumbfounded for awhile, did she really just saw that? looking at yuri forming her lips into a kissy face and softly smiling at yuqi, giggling, confrimed that she did in fact say that.

“your member is in the kitchen i think....i don’t think that’s a good idea yu.” yuqi responded in shock, praying to god that her member did not hear yuri. but that was probably very unlikely, since yuri basically shouted. this girl really has no fear....

“i don’t care, yuqi, please.” yuri pouted, honestly not caring that if any of her members walked in at that given moment. she missed yuqi, and she wanted to take advantage of all the time she spent with her, even if she had to face embarssing conversations after wards.

yuqi sighed, knowing that wooyoung wouldn’t walk in the room after he heard yuri, and slowly left a soft kiss onto yuri’s pouting lips.

although it wasn’t long, and it was just a simple peck, it made both girls feel like they were on cloud nine. they both felt the butterflies that they felt the very first time they kissed, and it seemed like that feeling would never go away. they wanted to stay in these moments forever, but they couldn’t. they had responsibilities, and as much as they wished they could run away together and never leave each other, they had to step back into reality.

yuqi softly pulled away, and gave a tight hug to the girl, muttering a quick bye.

“be safe, text me when you get home. and don’t forget your coat!” yuri spoke, much more hyper after getting what she wanted, causing for yuqi to slightly shake her head as yuri ran to the coat rack. somehow, yuqi always seemed to be giving into yuri’s wants, she really is whipped for her and proud.

“come here, let me put it on you!” yuri giggled, bouncing on the balls of her feet, and yuqi grinned and walked towards the girl and let her out the coat on her. yuqi hummed when yuri softly brushed her hands through her hair, brushing it to the side so it wouldn’t get messy.

yuri leaned in for another kiss again, slightly bending down, and opening the door for yuqi.

“now get going, i don’t want you to get scolded.” yuri giggled, seeing now that the roles were reversed, and yuqi gave a salute and left the dorm.

wooyoung, who was in the kitchen the whole time, was slightly smiling to himself. he saw how happy yuqi made yuri, and he was so happy yuri found happiness in someone who was a healthy person to be around. and he was also smiling, perhaps this was the biggest reason, because he was in fact right.

he was ready to embarss the living crap out of yuri now, softly giggling now that he had leverage.

he entered the living room again once he heard the door shut, and was met with a furiously blushing yuri against the front door, causing wooyoung to burst out laughing.

“looks like someone has a crush” wooyoung managed to say through his laughter, causing yuri to jump up and let out a not so silent scream, sending wooyoung to laugh even harder.

“how much did you hear? why were you eas dropping? you freaking perv!” yuri yelled, although she was laughing herself. she just now set in the realization that she was that bold with yuqi, when anyone could hear them.

“i heard enough to understand what’s going on.” wooyoung snickered, winking at the girl as he made his way to the couch, yuri hot on his ankles.

“what do you mean “enough to understand” wooyoung? i don’t understand what you are hinting at so far, yuqi and i are just friends.” yuri huffed, standing infront of wooyoung on the couch, crossing her arms. wooyoung smiled and shook his head, not believing her the slightest bit.

“yeah sureeee yuri, “just friends” beg each other to kiss them. yup, bestest of friends.” wooyoung chuckled.

“you and san kiss each other all the time, how is this any different?” yuqi huffed, trying her best to get out of this, although she knew there was no possible way. it was clear, yuqi and yuri clearly liked each other.

“yeah but not on the lips silly! but i give her my blessing, she have my stamp of approval.” wooyoung said, and then eating his snack he made himself. yuri was standing there in shock, not knowing how to respond.

“close your mouth, it smells.” wooyoung teased, giggling at yuri’s shocked expression.

“shut up, i smell better than you. also, don’t. tell anyone. about this.” yuri said, pointing wooyoungs arm with every word.

“aye aye captain.”

“also, you aren’t my dad. we don’t need your stamp of approval.” yuri commented, winking at wooyoung and heading to her room. she heard wooyoung laughing as she shut her door, smiling and sitting on hongjoong’s bed.

[cutie yuri] anytime, but next time, we are going to your house.

yuri sighed and layed back, feeling butterflies in her stomach. she felt so relaxed, and so happy. she felt like she could dance on the clouds, and she never ever wanted to get rid of this feeling. she wanted to feel this way the rest of her life, with yuqi.

Ok, so, new (actually pretty old, but I revamped most of it) fic idea!

I remembered this bad boy sitting way in the back of my pile of old fic ideas I nearly went through with, touched it up, and shall now pitch it to all my fellow Varian fans out there! (most of it was original, but then I changed it up because I was inspired by shows like “What If...” and “Loki”, so you may see some similarities, but those ideas were already there a few years before those shows, they just looked a bit different)

Plot

So, this fic starts post-series, about 4 months after the finale (maybe more). Varian finds some old Demanitus designs (or maybe a hidden room full of weird equipment), and Varian being Varian decides to build it. He ends up making a weird mask and glove (the glove has a weird circle symbol on it with a couple of runes). He ends up somehow pricking his finger and some of his blood drips on the center of the circle. Varian thinks nothing of it and moves on, trying to figure out what the glove/mask can do and how he can activate them.

Suddenly, (while he’s wearing them) they start working, and a smallish portal opens up from underneath him, which he falls through. Suddenly, he’s in a whole new place, very different from anywhere he had ever seen. He begins walking around, exploring, and sees amazing things, like dragons and magic and stuff, just out and about. It’s straight up HIGH fantasy. He’s like an isekai protagonist in a fantasy world.

While Varian’s walking around, he is suddenly attacked by a group of generic monsters, but a mysterious stranger saves him. He thanks the stranger, whose face is covered, and asks if they can tell him where he is. The stranger looks him up and down before saying “far away from your home, Varian. Very far away.” Varian, surprised and a little bit suspicious, asks how this stranger knows his name, and then who they are. The stranger simply says that they are someone who can help him. They introduce themselves as “One”, and request that Varian follow them to safety.

Varian, looking around him, decides that he’d rather just trust One than get stranded, so he follows them. They find a good place to stay for the night, and One asks if they can see Varian’s glove. Varian cauciously hands it over, and One looks it over before handing it back, then decides to explain the situation.

“Varian, have you ever heard of the multiverse theory?”

“Yeah, I read about it in Demanitus’ book. It talks a bit about how there could be infinite universes parallel to our own and each other, each event creating new universes based on the alternate versions of those events. Some universes also work entirely differently from others, or the flow of time is different, so there might be a universe where everyone is a chicken, or a universe where everyone that exists now is living 100 years in the future compared to us. But everything also moves at the same pace. It’s like a time paradox. Sorry, I’m rambling. Why are we talking about the multiverse theory?”

“Well, my young alchemist, what you have there is called a thread jumper. It allows you to jump between universes, and travel the multiverse.”

“Wait, so what you’re saying is, I’m in another universe?”

“Precisely.”

After a small panic attack, One explains that they know all about this kind of stuff, since they have a jumper too, and can help get Varian home. The only problem is, Varian’s jumper isn’t working. One says they know someone who might know how to help, and they walk to a strange hut. One barges into it without knocking, shouting “what’s up Science Bitch” as they entered.

Inside is a guy reading a book, who immediately puts it down to yell at One, shouting “I’M A WIZARD YOU-” before noticing Varian. They stare at each other for a long moment, due to the fact that they are both Varian.

So, introductions are made, short existential crisises are had, and Wizard!Varian sits down to look at OG!Varian’s (That’s what I’m calling our Varian) jumper.

Turns out, Varian’s jumper is a bit weird, and requires a day or two to recharge after a jump, so they have to wait a while for it to charge (it seems that Varian can only travel using his own jumper, and can’t just hold onto One or anything). They all groan at this, but decide to take advantage of this by getting to know each other a bit. Wizard!Varian and One already know each other very well, and have a history with the multiverse stuff, but they don’t want to talk about it much with OG!Varian. Instead, they tell him a tad bit more about how some of the stuff works, and ask about his world.

After a few hours of conversation, Wizard!Varian decides to observe the jumper a little more, and finds some more bad news. So, he doesn’t know why, but it doesn’t have settings, so they have no control over where OG!Varian might end up when he teleports. Uh oh. So they might have to do a slightly more old fashioned way; just keep teleporting until they get to the right world. OG!Varian will be able to tell when he’s in the right universe though, so it should be okay! Besides, they can probably find someone to help them fix it since Wizard!Varian can’t.

So, One vows to help get Varian home, and they soon (after it finishes charging) head off. The fic will start out slightly episodic, with a bit of a “universe of the week” type format. In each one, they will meet a different Varian (since this fic is centered around the different Varian AUs. Some crossovers may happen occasionally, but there will always be a Varian there). While they are in each universe, they may end up helping the Varian there in some way or another, and later on in the story, one or two may end up joining the duo.

Eventually, the plot will pick up, and become something a bit bigger, with plenty of lore and character development for the Varians. I already have the bigger idea for the plot and most backstories already planned out in my head, but don’t want to give it away in case I starting making this proper.

Anyways, that’s my fic idea. I call it “Varian!AU” and nobody can make me change the title.
