I've been wanting to do this post for a while now so here is EVERYTHING I CAN TELL YOU ABOUT THE GHOULS' IMPERA COSTUMES.

Buckle up because I have a LOT to say about those, this is gonna be a very long one.

The costumes were designed by B Åkerlund, a Swedish costume designer who's worked with Ghost since at least Meliora (that's as far back as I was willing to scroll on her Instagram page lol). B Åkerlund has also worked for many other musical artists such as Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Madonna, the Rolling Stones, Ozzy Osborne, Blink 182 and Hollywood Undead (information from her own website)

The masks were made by Bob Basset, a visual artists who works a lot with leather. I find his work fascinating, you can look him up on Instagram (nsfw warning, there's a few naked ladies).

Fun fact! The horns are real cow horns. That's the reason some of them have gold tips, to hide the imperfections that come with working with actual horns.

He does have a shop where he sells his items, there's a mask there very similar to the Impera ones. You can also buy Papa's batwings if you happen to have 2500$ lying around!

The jackets are made on the same model as one of Papa's. The back is decorated with a spine-like design made from leather and cording. It's adorned with a few of our classic Impera buttons. Some of the hems were left raw and some deliberate weathering was done to make it look old and worn.

Fun fact! The shoulder pieces are not sewn into the garment, I would assume for easier cleaning. I don't know if they're held by strong magnets or snap buttons.

The vest (my beloved 😩) is made from flocked velvet in a paisley pattern, the front hems embellished with satin piping. It closes in the front with custom metal clasps that are riveted into the garment. The D parts are attached with what seems to me like wide elastic, which would lessen the pression on the clasps when moving around a lot. The back is made from two different types of fabric, I'd have to touch it to be able to tell you what they are. I assume the panels closer to the sides have some mild stretch to them. The top of the shoulders are decorated with Impera grucifix patches.

The shirts were not custom made for the ghouls, altho they were altered. The original shirt in the vintage painter linen shirt from Punk Rave and it is still being sold. Some of the cuffs were altered, removing the ruffles for some of the ghouls, but not all. They were removed for Dew, Mountain and Phantom, Aether's didn't have them either. As far as I can tell, all the ghoulettes still have them.

An unfinished piece of linen serves as an ascot, that piece is decorated with a metal devil skull. The colour of the skull doesn't appear to be consistent between each ghoul, Dew's looks gold almost bronze while Phantom's is a silver-like colour.

Another modification is the buttons, a small portion of them were removed in favor of our Impera buttons. Some of the ghouls have more buttons replaced than others, which is still a mystery to me.

The pants are called Jodhpurs, they were invented in the 1800s as horse riding pants. The wide part at the hips and thighs allowing for better movement. The ones the ghouls wear don't reach all the way to their ankles, they stop a bit past the calf muscle, hidden by the boots. (Yes, the ghouls are effectively wearing capri pants)

The boots are motorcycle riding boots, decorated by a grucifix. Like the shirt, they can still be bought online through the All American Boots website, altho the price tag is... Headache inducing to say the least.

The cape is a piece of costume that was only briefly worn on stage by the ghouls, Aurora being the only one who still wears one. I would assume it gets in the way of playing very easily. The cape itself is made of two fabrics, a light blue satin and a dark grey suede. The two pieces are not sewn together at the bottom, they move freely from each other. The cape is attached on the left shoulder with a harness piece that has one strap across the chest, decorated with a metal buckle, and one under the armpit.

Ghouls don't have heartbeats, but his chest glows brighter whenever a heart might beat faster

He can submerge himself in water, but no longer finds it enjoyable - he misses swimming but water feels too dense and clingy for him to stand it

dealt with anger management issues following his elemental switch

Switching elements was not a conscious choice - his outlook/personality changed as a result of the trauma following the unexpected end of Terzo's reign as Papa, therefore, his element changed to reflect that

The elemental change was physically painful, as well as mentally, emotionally

He's always warm, and can heat himself up further to warm others up

That makes him a 'hot' commodity for cuddling when it's chilly

He doesn't feel his own heat, so it never bothers him

Is a bit of a lap cat - he likes to be cuddled up with someone when chilling/relaxing

His left horn broke because his new, higher body temperature made them more brittle than they otherwise would be - so, he's pretty careful with them, now

He's generally a pretty serious guy, but he can be drawn into shenanigans relatively easily

Enjoys teasing his friends, on occasion, isn't one for pranks, though

Vehemently disliked Copia at first, but warmed up to him, and is now fiercely loyal to him

Very protective of Copia, Aether, Rain, and the others - He's afraid to lose them, after losing Terzo, Ifrit, Zepher, Pebble, and the others

Likes the 'punk rock' aesthetic, fashion, makeup, the boots that make him a little bit taller

The ghouls, but it's how I currently headcanon them personality wise. Let's go.

Aether: Punk with a PHD. Easygoing dude, but he has his limits. Reliable, sensible, and loyal. The friend who hypes you up in a genuine manner, but keeps you humble.

Dew: The friend that has absurd lore that you only find out about as an aside in a casual conversation. Diligent, thoughtful, consistent. Very routine oriented, but secretly thrives in chaos and spontaneity.

Cirrus: Assertive, quick witted, and bold. Used to be the type of person who used being "blunt" as an excuse for being rude, and only started correcting that behavior when it cost her a friend.

Cumulus: That person you have the deepest, realest conversation with at 3am in some random person's backyard during a party. Copes with trauma using humor. Creative, book smart, weird.

Rain: Has resting sad face, but is rarely actually, ya know, sad. Quiet, introspective, weird. Looks up "fun facts" late at night. True crime podcast listener who knows a bit too much about forensics.

Swiss: Despite being a multi ghoul, he cannot multitask. Can do advanced math in his head in seconds, but can't remember what he had for breakfast. Not a personality trait, but dresses like a dad.

Aurora: A princess, but Fiona from Shrek style. The filthiest mouth known to mankind. Circus camp kid energy. The type of person who smiles with their whole being when they're happy.

Mountain: Is being a lumberjack with religious trauma a personality? Maybe. Spouts off random facts about plants and animals he sees. Will try anything once, but try him and he'll kick your ass.

Sunny: A hop and a skip away from dying her hair at 2am, again. Can't slow down or the thoughts will get her. Takes running from her problems literally.

Aeon: If the phrase, "Can I put that in my mouth?" was given physical form. Circus camp kid meets "I was in improv club in high school" energy. "Can I show you my new magic trick?" kind of weird.

Again yall are opening a box that I cannot contain. I’ve been rambling about old ghouls to @divine-misfortune for months.

Here’s some of the headcanons we’ve come up with. Please enjoy

Also I’m counting era 3 ghouls as pebble, ivy, cowbell, mist, zephyr, ifrit and delta! But delta will not be mentioned here for reasons (the reasons are I am having a lot of fun with him and will post about him later). And I know I talk a lot about Zeph and ifrit on here so I’ll put a bit less of them.

Pebble:

- very punk inspired for looks. I think he has a lot of piercings and that kind of mentality. He’s a rebel (also a shithead but like in the most positive way)

- his favorite hobby is fucking with alpha. He’s just so easy to anger. It’s all stupid pranks and comments, harmless but they argue a lot.

- he smokes weed in the vents with cowbell

- extremely soft for ivy. Also very possessive but it’s ok they’re in love your honor.

Ivy:

- shy, nerd type, he looks like a dork im sorry. He has anxiety just a bit for character

- pebble is his emotional support mean person

- he’s so sweet. Genuinely just here to be nice to others and vibe

- terrible pain tolerance. He’s a bit of a baby but I love him so much (pebble coddles him beyond belief)

- touchy, enjoys physical contact

Mist:

- short hair, rbf, she runs the place like the navy when she’s left in charge

- snarky, very well respected, very “leave me alone” type a fair amount of the time

- enjoys messing with the other ghouls w pebble. They’re besties I don’t make the rules

- very much dews mentor when he’s first summoned

- she’s my mean lesbian stereotype back off I’m in love with her

Cowbell

- oh he’s kinda fucking strange

- like he looks off putting. He came out wrong (I love him)

- enjoys being creepy. He likes scaring the other ghouls by looking fucking strange

- fire and air specialized multi ghoul

- he knows everything about everyone

Zephyr:

- disabled and chronically ill (he’s my emotional support Barbie and I’ll give them all the illnesses I want)

- he/they or they/them it depends on the day

- mean, cranky old man (with so much love)

- obviously they’re in love with ifrit and would do anything for him that’s his himbo everyone else back off

- he has a sick ass cane that og earth widdled them to help with the joint pain

Ifrit:

- he’s so beefy and stupid

- he’s so fucking sweet though. Like he is THE himbo

- carries Zeph around bc he would do anything for them

Ghouls & Their Favorite Horror Movies (1980s edition)

In honor of Halloween being just a few days away (!!!) have some thoughts about the ghouls and their favorite horror movies. Narrowed down to the 1980s because that's probably my favorite decade for horror (shoutout to the 70s though).

Dew: City of the Living Dead, The Evil Dead, Pieces, Cannibal Holocaust

Resident horror snob and ultimate gorehound. The bloodier, sleazier, and more fucked up the better. Huge fan of the Italian horror directors, especially “Godfather of Gore” and king of onscreen eyeball trauma Lucio Fulci. City of the Living Dead (aka The Gates of Hell) is his favorite, it’s gory, blasphemous, and just obscure enough for him to feel smug when nobody else has heard of it. The biggest horror fan of the group, he’s seen it all and is always on the hunt for something weird and new that he hasn’t seen yet (a difficult task). Introduced pretty much all of the other ghouls to their favorite horror movies.

Aether: Return of the Living Dead, Re-Animator, Night of the Creeps, Killer Klowns from Outer Space

Lover of all the best 80s horror comedies. Silly and fun without being too intense or mean-spirited. The more over the top the better. Aether movie nights are always the most fun. Loves Return of the Living Dead because of the awesome punk rock soundtrack and 80s punk aesthetic. Secretly loves horror comedies the best because he gets to see Dew laughing the whole time. He and Dew are the most annoying about quoting movies back and forth to each other nonstop.

Mountain: The Thing, They Live, Aliens, From Beyond

Loves his horror with a side of sci-fi. Major John Carpenter and Stuart Gordon fan (who isn’t). Also a huge fan of sci-fi horror with amazing practical effects and The Thing is the king of them all (he loves the original too, for the plant-man monster of course). 

Swiss: Hellraiser, Videodrome, Society, Street Trash

Body horror enthusiast. If it's slimy, horny, and taboo then he’s all about it. Unsurprisingly the biggest Cronenberg fan of the bunch. Huge fan of the Hellraiser series, what with all the leather and the chains and the flesh. Will also sit you down and force you to watch Society if you’ve never seen it (you will thank him later).

Phantom: The Monster Squad, Fright Night, The Lost Boys, Near Dark

Of course it’s gotta be The Monster Squad. Phantom loves the classic Universal Monsters and Monster Squad has them all, wrapped up in a super fun 80s horror comedy with great writing and memorable characters. Will undoubtedly yell WOLFMAN’S GOT NARDS at the most inopportune times. Loves vampire movies the most and secretly thinks of his pack a little bit like the group of vampires in Near Dark.

Aurora: Night of the Comet, Slumber Party Massacre, Phenomena, Sleepaway Camp 2

GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS. Loves seeing pretty women absolutely kick ass onscreen. And any horror movie with a female villain will almost always become a favorite. Loves Night of the Comet because why shouldn’t a couple of valley girl cheerleaders get to enjoy a mall shopping spree while also mowing down hordes of comet zombies with machine guns?

Cirrus: Possession, Altered States, The Shining, the Ninth Configuration

Queen of psychological horror. Her picks usually toe the line between horror and other genres. Cirrus movie nights almost always have to come with a “palate cleanser” movie right after (usually a Cumulus or Aether pick). Dew secretly thinks she has the coolest taste of the bunch.

Cumulus: Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama, Blood Diner, TerrorVision

80s horror comedies (horny version). Like Aether, Cumulus loves horror comedies. But for her, the sexier and more ridiculous the better. Always thinks a movie would do better with more boobs and full-frontal. Vocal advocate for more male nudity in movies. Linnea Quigley is her horror idol.

Sunshine: Slumber Party Massacre 2, Black Roses, Trick or Treat, Slaughterhouse Rock

Number one champion of the rock & roll horror subgenre. Horror and rock music were both public enemy number one during the Satanic Panic of the 80s, and Sunny loves movies that lean into it. Slumber Party Massacre 2 is the most fun with the leather-clad rockabilly slasher facing off against members of an all-girl rock group with his massive (unmistakably phallic) electric guitar-drill.

Rain: Jaws 3, Humanoids from the Deep, The Fog, The Abyss

Absolutely nobody is shocked to discover Rain is a fan of underwater/nautical horror. He doesn’t even care if a movie is “good” as long as it’s wet and full of weird monsters or creatures. Avid defender of Jaws 3 (it has dolphins, hello). His taste is all over the place quality-wise, from b-movie creature features like Humanoids, to the cozy coastal ambiance of the Fog. As the only ghoul who can breathe underwater, he loves to watch others squirm during the breathing fluid scene in the Abyss.

I’m pretty bad at social cues, and I’m oblivious when it comes to people who have a crush on me or try to flirt with me, but like I said, I get very flustered when I realize someone’s flirting. I’m very shy and nervous around new people, and I usually stay close to the person I know the most when I meet them.

I LOVE history, but mostly the creepy and darker side of history. I’m super into paranormal investigating and I’d love to investigate with friends and such. I like exploring abandoned buildings but I always prefer to have someone with me. I like doing creepy challenges with friends, I also like exploring the wilderness and nature. I LOVE swimming and I have a deep connection with the ocean and water. I can be pretty weird when I’m not being sarcastic.

"Dogfight" M.O.V.E. High octane, eurobeat infused J-Rock song for a racing show. It feels like injecting GOTTA GO FAST into your bloodstream

The entirety of the album Details by Frou Frou feels like dancing in the clouds, the dew drops of the sky dripping down your face in grief and love and hope. It's my birthday, so this counts as as one song. Also, shout out to her music under Imogen Heap, including, "Sweet Religion," "Glistening Clouds," "Bad Body Double," "Loose Ends," "Come Here Boy." "Veridis Quo" Daft Punk My Fave DP song changes daily but I'm feeling this song at 31. A song that feels like an ache, like a prayer.

"Welcome Home" Coheed & Cambria. The guitar alone... holy shit. HOLY SHIT. Love this entire album to pieces!!! TBH

Talk Shop Tuesday: what's your process for designing a new character? How do you determine things like their color scheme or what animal they're going to be? Do you usually spend a while refining your characters, or do they come to you all in one burst?

Okay so it's been a while since I last designed a character, but there is some method to my madness lol

For Mist and Spark, I wanted there to be a lot of contrast between them while also having stuff that ties them together - hence both of them sharing an accent color (yellow) and being dogs, while their main colors are complementary and their other species are very different

For the rest of the main six, I just asked my friends for two animals they like lol (with the stipulation that apart from Fern all of them had to be mammals)

Their colors... I don't remember how I did that part. I think I was going through the color wheel trying to pick something interesting for all of them, but I do know there was a lot of tweaking involved - Rowan's color scheme used to be a lot lighter, Dew used to be purple instead of orange, and Fern took quite some time to get the pink and black color scheme. For the girlie ever Basil, her color scheme came about just from her species, since she is a coral snake

For the side characters, most of them are just one-off archetypes that I end up messing with until they're something unique; like with Basil, I wanted her to be this sort of really sporty person and gave her a slightly more butch appearance than my female characters at the time, but that developed into her current style that I *think* can be categorized as punk, with the leather jacket and combat boots and all that.

Believe it or not whether I go with the first draft really depends on the character LMAO like with Dew and Via I had three separate design phases for each (Dew especially took a lot of tweaking and experimenting to get his hairstyle and color palette right), meanwhile Mist has been pretty much stagnant design-wise if you don't count his outfit changing as I got more and more experience with drawing clothes

The amount of designs I do also depends on a lot of stuff, like I did a whole burst of eight side characters at once (and haven't drawn any of them in months lmaooooo) but sometimes I just don't come up with anything for a while, especially right now that FGCC has hit a point where it has a good amount of characters and the other stories are mainly developing dynamics between characters I already have established

Now, with all those messy ramblings out of the way, here's how I would design a brand new character right now:

Think of a role that needs to be filled. Like, uhhh, the Calculus teacher.

What sort of basic premise can I go for here? I already have a concept for the Chem teacher (he'll show up for a bit on Rowan's Birthday) and he's a really chill teacher that doesn't mind if the students' methodology isn't perfect as long as they understand the concepts and get the right results, so I could go for the polar opposite: a really strict teacher that wants every aspect of the subject to be done perfectly, with little room for error

In terms of species, I think I could go for some more non-mammalian characters, as a way to make my lineup a tad more diverse, so how about an owl? It's a tad stereotypical, but I think it could work to kinda show their more strict and stern nature. Plus, there's a ton of visual variety in owl species irl, so there's a lot of design potential both if I limit it to a single species and if I mix and match them

Then I'd actually draw the design, mostly paying attention to their build, clothing, and animal features (I tend to forget stuff like wings at this point so it'd probably involve a ton of tries lol)

After I'm satisfied with how the design looks, I take a picture of the final sketch and draw over it on my phone, and this is where I actually choose the color palette. For this one, I'm thinking a simple palette is best since they'd be a very minor side character, so maybe something like a mix of grey and either blue or red. Blue for the usual color theory associations (and also tying them to Mist a bit since they're both rigorous) or red to tie them to Via, since Via's plot has a few ties to Calculus specifically

And done! After that I'd probably draw the character a lot until they've ship-of-theseus'd into something unrecognizable (like Dew who has changed almost everything in his design lmao)

Thinking about Dewdrop and Rain tonight, but in a very specific kind of way. Let's go.

-Dew is a chunky skater shoes type of person, whereas Rain is a converse hightops in all kinds of weather type of person.

I don't wholly know how to elaborate on this other than to say that they both would fall into the category of "punk", but on different ends of the spectrum, albeit not too far apart.

Rain gives off more of the classic shy boy with flippy hair who wears t-shirts over long sleeved shirts, but Dew is the "I'm going to wear a shirt that is three sizes too big with tripp pants." sort, ya know?

Skater boy meet sweater paws emo boy kind of energy.

...but transfer that into grow adults without the haze of teenage angst and drama anddd... they'd still dress like that if they could, and sometimes still do.

-For no reason whatsoever, I think Dew could name almost every Sanrio character correctly, but somehow forgets what Hello Kitty's name is.

He called her "Goodbye Doggy" once, but that was on purpose to baffle the others.

On the topic of Sanrio characters, Rain forgot the names of the Star Twins one time and Dew got offended like, "YOU DON'T KNOW KIKI AND LALA???" sources say he did this purely to pick a fight.

-Dew is either the "I carry everything I own in my pockets." type of person or the person who carries a backpack everywhere, because you never know when you're going to need -insert anything really- in your day to day life.

Rain is a "I will bring a bag if it matches my outfit." person or "Someone else will carry my things for me." person.

Dew carries it... and like forty other bits and bobs including, but not limited to, any other bullshit the other ghouls have left behind.

And lastly;

-Dew has kits, but nobody really knows he does, because he doesn't really bring them around the other ghouls a lot, not because he doesn't trust them/think they'd be good influences on them, but because his kits would probably be bored out of their minds in a room full of adults.

He's very good at keeping them out of the public eye, and wants them to live normal lives.

He's a good dad, despite others assuming he can't take care of himself at times, let alone a couple of tiny ghouls.

Rain doesn't have kits, but he does have a betta fish named Frank.

Frank is a dick.

Rain loves him.

The Party - Chapter 2

The movie was pretty good! You really didn’t expect to hear them talk about OTHER classic horror flicks! From the sound of it, it was the billionth time Sam, Seb, and Abby watched it, with how much they ranted about the best and worst parts of the movie and all the fun facts about production, and—

 

Would you look at the time? You gotta head back home! With a mild panic in your voice, you quickly packed up your stuff. “Ack- I’m so so sorry, I gotta go!” You yelped, dashing out the door. You could tell they were about to say something, but you were already halfway back.

 

Stepping inside with a huff, you set everything down and grabbed some PJs for the night. A nice, warm shower should help soothe your frazzled nerves. You’ve been so jittery lately, suppose being on a desolate farm all alone, excluding the farm dog who seems more interested in chasing butterflies than foxes, the scrawny little barn cats, a bunch of livestock, and your sick grandpa will do that to a person.

 

It felt nice getting all the sweat and grime off of you. Plus, grandpa would KILL you if he smelled the weed! That party was really overwhelming… You suppose you can’t really blame Sam and Abby, even if they were the ones to set it up. They were just trying to be friendly and have fun! You hoped you guys would smooth things out in the morning after your rude exit.

 

About to flop down on your bed after checking on Grandpa, you hear a scratching at the window of your room. Glancing over, you see a strange face. Black and white. Screaming.

 

“Smudge! You’re an outside cat; y'know, I’m not supposed to let you in! Go hang out in the barn!” You scolded the little tuxedo cat outside your window. With just a cute little head tilt, he had won you over. “Fine, just don’t cause a mess…” The cat gave a satisfied trill, glad to get out of the cold and away from the stuffy barn. You closed the window behind him.

 

You flopped over onto your bed, soon joined by the very dusty kitty. At least laundry day was tomorrow anyway. Giving him a few pets, you click off your lamp and head to sleep.

 

The next morning started off with you all tangled in your bedsheets. The cool morning air wafted in through the open window. Based on the little paw prints in the dew, you could see Smudge had gone back to his rodent hunting business. You went on with your morning routine, eating cereal while the TV droned on in front of you.

 

“Morning, kiddo- damnit- Say, you heard those prank callers?” Your grandpa asked, sitting on the couch. Good to see he’s feeling well enough to walk. “Nah, what happened?” You chirped back, drinking the milk. “Some punks with this freaky voice changer thing are harassing some of the folks. ‘Cording to Evelyn, they were probably inspired by that new scary movie that came out recently.”

 

“Really? Shocked she heard anything about it.” You chuckled, earning you a nudge on the shoulder from Gramps. “Aye, you be nice to her now! Not that it ain’t rooted in a bit o’ truth.” The elderly man replied. “Anywho, think you could run down to the market today? We’re outta flour, sugar… ah shit—what else? Ah, forget it, just grab whatever you think we’ll need.” He sighed, handing you some money. “I’m gonna go check on the critters.”

 

You nodded, pocketing the money and grabbing your tennis shoes. This was perfect timing! If you get there quick enough, you can talk to Abigail about what happened! Hopefully she didn’t mind too much. With a wave, you trotted out the door, thinking about what to say.

Dew (Killer Kaufmo): Oh boy, what did we do this time boss?

Punk Pomni:Well isn't it obvious doofus. We didn't do our combat training. Making us like a bunch of lazy potatoes. Well two potatoes, but still.

Pam-Na (Insanity Pomni): So what we do Punk?

Punk Pomni: Well were going to have a combat training with you three fighting each other and also dodging my obstacles and stuff like that.

(The three would just sigh or groan as they knew that there training is going to be tougher then before. Punk notice as he groans and asks)

Punk pomni: Alright, how about this. If you guys finish your training then you get a prize.

Callie (Mime Jester Pomni): (Writing and shows punk) "Really? Like what exactly?

Punk Pomni:....Gloink?

Pam-Na(Insanity Pomni): Oh I want I want!

Dew(Killer Kaufmo): Yeah I don't think that a good prize-

Punk Pomni: I'll let you visit colorni (color pomni)

Dew (Killer Kaufmo): Oh I am so ready for this.

(She then looks at Callie as he would sigh and asks)

Punk Pomni: And you callie, if you participate enough I'll let you...visit your Au just to see on how it is.

(Callie would be surprised to what Punk said but keep cool as she thinks a bit and then write down)

Callie (Mime Jester Pomni): *Writing* "...Fine."

Punk Pomni: Alright, let's get this Punk Combat started!

am home from my partner's. ate nothing there but my folks grilled for dinner and i am weak around hot dog buns so. i had one with some tuna and chips. might get a banana? and then be awake for a bit and pass out. all that matters tmrw is that i don't eat before i go to my partner's and i stop eating by 6 at the latest. and then it's gonna be a fast. tuesday should be easy enough to get thru bc if i dont sleep much tonight i'll just pass the fuck out for most od the day and then i can have mtn dew at work as a lil 24hr treat and then the worst is over

wednesday,,, hrm. the art gallery is gonna have an opening thurs so i'll be around a Lot of food but. i should manage. i'll probably have a small meal sometime at night but. i'll try not to. thursday i'll def need to at least have a protein shake at work bc. well. work. and then i have to shoot the opening immediately followed by a punk show. so that should carry me well into a fasted friday and at this point it's so far ahead i won't even worry abt planning

Whumptober Day 11

Prompt #11: Betrayal Pairing: CM Punk/Dia Banks (OC) Mentions Of: Colt Cabana, Bash Ryland (OC), Cassidy Cabana (OC) Verse: Main

The definition of insanity was allowing yourself to do the same thing over and over again, but expecting a different result each time. Dia Banks was very familiar with that saying. Each time 𝒉𝒆 had come back into her life, she had always acted as if he were going to change. Each time, 𝒉𝒆 had shown to her that there was no chance he was a different man.

It was the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled, after all, and each time Phil Brooks showed up in her life, Dia allowed the devil to lie to her just a little bit more.

It was why she was so angry that she allowed herself to show up to this dinner, after being sent a text from an unknown number, simply giving her the name of the pizza place in Chicago. After seeing the name of the restaurant, she didn't need to know anything else. The last time she had been there was during her training as a member of the Second City Saints. Everything in Dia told her to tell her Colt where she was going, to tell her Bash where she was going.

There was a betrayal in the fact that she hadn't told them where she was headed.

Dia 𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒘 she shouldn't be here right now. She knew even as she moved towards the little table in the back, the same table she had once met Phil at early on in her early career without the rest of the Saint's knowledge, that she shouldn't be here. There he sat, hat pulled down low and playing on his phone. How dare he look so peaceful, especially in this light. How 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒆 he text her to come to this place that had once meant so much to the two of them. Had Brawl Out meant nothing? Had the way he humiliated both her and her son not been enough to sour her on the man?

And then he looked up at her with that boyish smirk, playing with the lip ring between his teeth, "Hey Di."

Dia slid into the seat across from Phil, "What do you want? What could you possibly want?"

Phil reached across the table, placing a hand on hers with a charming smile, "C'mon, Di. Don't be like this."

She drew in a sharp and slow breath, "Be like what? Be worried that this is all a trick from you?"

HIs eyes scanned to the bag next to him and the smirk on his lips was a little more sinister, "A trick? Diamond, you know me better than that."

"I know you well enough to know that's the kinda man you are," Dia blanched at the use of her real name, quickly pulling her hand away from him. Gods he was so 𝒇𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈. A waiter brought two drinks to the table, along with a full size pizza. A small smile took her lips, before she banished it, "How did-"

"Mt. Dew and an Italian special," Phil smirked as he stole a piece for himself, "it's the same thing we ordered the first time we came here. People don't change, Di. They just get better at hiding their spots."

A flash of recognition hit Dia as she took the first bite of pizza. Phil's eyes had glanced to that red bag again and Dia felt uneasy. What was in there? What was he hiding from her? "Cass changed. Since he started hanging around Adam, he-"

"He hasn't changed. He still hasn't told you the truth," Phil shrugged one shoulder, "I guess we've had enough chit-chat, huh? I came to warn you."

"Warn me?" Dia raised an eyebrow before sipping her drink, "About what?"

"In this bag," Phil began, scooting back to tap the rep bag next to him, "is something that will ruin your sons reign. I'm gonna tell the world at Collision. I at least wanted to give you a fighting chance. You keep pushing yourself down to make him happy, to make the bozos you've married be happy. Fuck that, Diamond. Fight with-"

Dia gestured for a waiter and asked for a to-go box before she dared look back at Phil. There it was, a betrayal like only Phil was capable of. He could build her up so high, make her feel so good about their friendship, then take her down just as quickly. "My family is my pride and joy. I gave you the benefit of the doubt, Phil. And yet here we go again. My answer is fuck you."
