the eclipse was only on Saturday and my god has my life been insane since. Like i know i go a little manic in spring but holy fuck
#like things got interesting on Saturday#Sunday was calm enough#Monday/Tuesday I was rotting thank goodness#but since Wednesday it has been non stop#mostly positive and social and nice!!!!!#but also crazy. not necessarily bad but maybe not a good idea#and at some points very excellent#and then more happened last night#that thankfully I was saved from engaging in cos that was the one thing#that stood out as overall not positive#and now I’m on my sofa my meds have kicked in and I’m feeling like I’d rather be calm rn actually#like i really need to retreat today#for context if anyone understands astrology…….. which is a couple of u who followed me thru Astro posts#solar eclipse was in my 7h. conjunct s/m midpoint with 1d orb#vertex under <2d orb. and descendant <4d orb#my natal Venus is retrograde which is think is why I’m experiencing so much activity like I’m getting power from this#but current retro Venus and Mercury left my 7h and have been sextile natal Venus/neptune#then semi sextile Jupiter. and are forming sextile with sun#mars my 7h ruler and natally in 5th has been opposing my sun#sun is conjunct natal 7h Saturn while Jupiter sextiles both. but that feels serious not chaotic like I’ve been experiencing#the chaos I’ll point out Uranus is square Jupiter in 5h. this is definitely a major thing shaking things up for me#but also because it loosely trines both sun and venus at the same time#and will now be closing in on the Venus trine until end of summer#t Mars and t Saturn both sextile t Uranus too. really amping everything up#Saturn and Uranus are co-rulers of my 5h#so again while I’ve had a mostly very positive time#the decisions probably weren’t good but were fun#and i feel completely motion sick

Three different boys like Adelaide right now and they all play on the same basketball team together.
Boy drama.
#one of them has asked her to be his valentine#and she’s having a hard time deciding whether or not to accept#because he’s best friends with one of the other boys who likes her#which is very sweet of her#and is certainly a factor#but I think ultimately is THEIR problem to sort out#she and the third boy have decided their friendship is more important#that’s a boy I know fairly well#and he is a GEM#a really really great kid#they may wind up at the same high school together#and it is my very secret hope that they date at some point then#because I think he’d be an excellent early boyfriend#and help her seek out healthy relationships with kind people#but I of course plan to never tell Adelaide this opinion

Holo-technology is an ethical nightmare. Lemme just magic up a person with individual thoughts and feelings to entertain myself, and then shut them off at my leisure. I’m sure this will have no real-world ramifications for me ever in my life.
We’re out here with a whole holo-village that’s gained sentience, and this is like the fifth time something like this has happened.

hs2 is so extremely nothing its defenders will be like you can't judge it as a continuation of homestuck, its own thing!! which i would agree if hs2 wanted or tried to be anything else than meta homestuck commentary which truthfully we need like an 8th hole in the head. homestuck is already its own meta commentary. This Could Have Been An Email two paragraph twitter thread. it has no interest in really telling a story or new events or new action new anything all it wants is to painfully toddle from character to character then sit down and monologue directly at the camera about the characters motivations in homestuck proper. thats crazy. thats the blu-ray bonus reel not a story

Regarding the previous post, I think the way I approach trying to evaluate a piece of art is asking "Do I think the positive things I get out of it outweigh the parts of it that I don't like?" And when I call something a "guilty pleasure" song/show/book/piece of media/etc. it's really more in the sense of, "Given who I am as a person, the flaws I've found in this should be complete dealbreakers for me, but somehow they aren't, and it makes me feel like I'm having an identity crisis."
#like. I think something like...idk shiki or cxgf excels on multiple levels. I understand why I like them. given the things I look for in art#it makes sense that these shows would speak to me because they make the effort to showcase those things I look for. because the people#in charge of those works clearly valued the same kinds of things and cared about seriously exploring them.#but with something like. uh. ctrlz. that is NOT the case and I frequently found myself going 'why would anyone make this writing#decision?' but I still sat through all 3 seasons of it! I still really enjoyed it! those flaws SHOULD have made me give up according to#personal history but they never did. and I very very much genuinely question why. I have NO IDEA why I still care about this#silly convoluted teen drama show so much. but I do. I wrote SO MANY FUCKING POSTS ABOUT IT.#I really love wicked the musical. I've heard many people call it 'hokey' or 'cheesy' or 'objectively bad' but here's the thing! I DON'T#think it's bad!!! like literally at all!!!!!! and it does do some genuinely cool things in regard to the music and the way the characters#develop and what the show says about the nature of prejudice and human connection. is it like. idk Serious™ the way that something like#Parade is? no. but it doesn't have to be. it does what it sets out to do and it does it well and this is why the whole '''objective#evaluation''' thing doesn't actually mean anything. I value thoughtfully-constructed music and dynamic female characters#(which this musical has). I value stories that deal with the complex and messy feelings that come with being a human (which this musical#has). I value stories about 'other'ness and romantic subplots that aren't just built on 'This Girl Is Pretty' (which this musical has).#and I value professional displays of technical vocal ability because I know how fucking DIFFICULT that is (which this musical...if you cast#it well...has).#if you value something else in a musical then yeah you will probably think THIS one is '''objectively bad'''#if you don't see the point of musicals as an art form you will probably think wicked is '''objectively bad'''#do you see where the problem with categorizing analysis like this is??

#adventures in writing#fairy tale retellings#i've had a vague desire for a maid maleen retelling#and when i was considering options i got hit hard by a desire to retell this one#(excellent friendship to explore)#and it had a very strong landscape that reminded me of the marastel and jemrauth arateph moodboard#and i realized that i already had a situation where a woman and her handmaid were loyal friends#and there was a forbidden romance with a prince#it couldn't be their actual romance story because i want to stick to the fairy tale plot points#including the war#which would not fit in their world#but maybe if i used some of those character dynamics#and the world from 'in chains'#i could make a fairly accurate yet detailed retelling#the feeling will fade within a day#especially now that i've spilled the details#but if nothing else i'll have had the fun of telling you about it because it's an excellent daydream

My DM from my D&D group has been working overtime trying to get me to watch Fantasy High from Dropout saying it was really good and a great way to watch a streamed D&D campaign, and I've been putting it off this whole time because I have the loosest attention span for streamed D&D campaigns. Unfortunately literally nothing in the world is more boring to me than watching a bunch of people sit around a table and talk if I'm not an active participant in the conversation ya girl needs visuals.
But earlier this week I started a new crochet project and wanted something in the background, so I said "fuck it"-- I put it on my TV and listened/watched while I worked.
I'll give my DM credit. Fantasy High absolutely does fucking slap. I'm kinda kicking myself for not trying it out earlier lmao.

I have a loosey goosey relationship with Dropout-- I was a HUGE CollegeHumor fan when was 11#And that was in uhhhhhhhhhhh 2007 so as you can tell it's gone through some extreme changes between me liking it and what it is now#I'm interested in getting a Dropout subscription but I want to make sure I'll like...actually use it you know?#But FH has fully sucked me in I'm on episode 13 of Freshman year and I'm greatly enjoying it#And the good thing about Fantasy High that I haven't seen in a lot of other streamed D&D is the camera gets closeups and there's visuals#So it keeps my attention a lot better#Also I now have a decent amount of DND exp under my belt so I can follow a lot better#Trust me I've TRIED Critical Role and I like the show but the TTRPG stream BORES THE SHIT OUT OF ME NO SHADE#Anyway point is Fantasy High is very fun and once I'm caught up I will be watching some of the other campaigns on their YT channel#Brennan Lee Mulligan if you're reading this for whatever reason 1) please get off my blog and 2) excellent job I admire your work very much#Anyway my DM's gonna be so goddamn pleased with themself I just fucking know it.
