Sorry I don't care that Hoyoverse portrayed Lumine as the abyss princess in the animated short, I was too busy crying my eyes out.
Lord, please take all of Lumine and Aether's pain and give it to Celestia.

just thinking about how binghe had no idea that without-a-cure even had a cure and he spent all his years as a disciple thinking his shizun would at best be disabled for the rest of his life and at worst die a slow and painful death, and it was to save him.

I need people to know the wonderful ship that's Tianlang-jun/Shang Qinghua. There's not enough fics on them, and it's tragic. TLJ would be SQH’S biggest supporter and fan. He would buy every single one of the books SQH wrote. I also feel like TLJ would spoil SQH, and I need someone to spoil my little hamham. Please please please, writers and artists of the fandom give me more content. I'm willing to sacrifice my firstborn to you. If you don't want my firstborn I'll give you my right pinky toe. Please toss me some crumbs, I'm dying over here.

[Important things must be said three times]
---
As it seems like the next animated season of Heaven Official's Blessing might be just around the corner, I wanted to give a little love to my favourite of Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's series- The Scum Villain's Self Saving System.
Lucky me got both book series from my brother for my bday and over Christmas and though I do love both, SVSSS got me creased. Shen Yuan just falling ass over backwards into an entirely different genre was just too good.
And whilst I'd fallen into some old comfort fandoms, it was also nice to tune out for a bit like I used to as a chronically reading teenager, and get lost in a good book.

In defense of Yue Qingyuan
I like to start off and say that you don't have to like Yue Qingyuan, but there is an aspect of his character that many people misunderstand, and I would like to explain it
"Why did Yue Qingyuan never tell Shen Jiu that he came for him?" This was something that I was confused by at first too, and yeah, it made him look bad. I'm not a huge fan of fanfics that over-villainizes him, but if that's cathartic for some people then I get it
What made me realize why Yue Qingyuan never came for Shen Jiu was me thinking about WHY their relationship was added to the story in the first place. What did these two characters mean to the svsss as a whole?
Shen Jiu is Luo Binghe's foil, they are very similar and both fall down a dark path. That made me look at both Shen Yuan and Yue Qingyuan, and that's when it hit me. Shen Yuan did the exact same thing Yue Qingyuan did. He never told Luo Binghe why he pushed him, and while WE know that he isn't able to explain the System, there was one thing he could've done to help Luo Binghe, and that would be to tell him that he regretted it. The System wasn't stopping him from saying it, so why didn't he?
Both Shen Yuan and Yue Qingyuan kept their silence for the same reason, they thought it wouldn't matter. Yue Qingyuan failed Shen Jiu, and Shen Yuan hurt Luo Binghe, and both of them believed that there was nothing they could do to fix it. Whatever they say would only be excuses, they have already failed, and nothing would change that
They don't see that explaining/apologizing would mean the world to Shen Jiu/Luo Binghe, and because of their silence on the matter, it's sends Shen Jiu and Luo Binghe into dark places
So let me ask you this. "Why does the fandom hate Yue Qingyuan and not Shen Yuan, who did the same thing?" And the answer is pretty clear. We see through Shen Yuan's perspective throughout the book, so we understand his reasoning, Yue Qingyuan's reasoning just wasn't spelled out for us. I love MXTX's writing, and how she doesn't just explain every aspect of a character, it's up to the reader to find out. She never outright says "Shen Yuan doesn't see the people around him as people, but as characters", we see that in how he thinks. Sadly that means that sometimes things are missed, and that includes the purpose of Yue Qingyuan's character
Anyway I wanted to put this out there because I've seen a lot of Yue Qingyuan hate, and like I said in the beginning, you are still free to hate this man, everyone has their character preferences. I just find it odd when people hate him for things Shen Yuan have did, yet he isn't treated the same way as Yue Qingyuan is by the fandom
Yue Qingyuan and Shen Jiu are a tragic duo that have an unhappy ending in 2 canonical worlds, and while they are very flawed individuals, I can't help but want them to get better and be happy

Literally where do people get the idea that Jason was full of himself and that he thought he was better than Percy? This is legit brought up in so many 'why-i-hate-jason-grace" arguments it just screams lack of reading comprehension and obvious Percy bias saltiness. Like just say you are bitter that Jason is written as percy's equal and that you want Percy to have nobody rival him 💀
Never once in his povs did he ever think about how much better he was, on the contrary it's just him not feeling good enough about himself. He and Percy NEVER said anything bad about eachother.
His and Percy's rival is just a joke between two powerful demigods who have rival dads, that's literally it. Even if Jason did indeed think he's better, so what about it? What's the big deal?
he has worked hard and accomplished great things, so he has like, every right to be confident in his power, stop acting like hes all weak and inferior when he canonically killed a titan with like his bare fucking hands till the point Krios swore vengeance on him. No he's not "weak" or morally inferior to Percy as a person. You are merely trying to cope. Not to mention the way people judge a character's worth SOLEY based on their abilities is a huge red flag in itself, but that's a discussion for another time.
he shouldve canonically had more achievments and power than he originally got in the books as a son of jupiter. but rick made Percy too OP and fumbled jason for the sake of keeping percy's spotlight intact. Has it ever dawned on people that Percy is shown to have cool abilities like bending tears but Jason is never shown to have abilities like controlling lungs? Yeah, that's authors privilege for ya.
Y'all put Percy in an obnoxiously high pedestal and that's not a good thing. It diminishes his flaws and makes him appear so saint like and Gary Stu even though he's not. the fact that ppl get so sensitive over their rivalry and try to belittle jason by making up scenarios (like claiming jason thinks he's superior and shit) and go around saying that to ppl to reduce his value DESPITE being well aware that he has like enough hate already, is so insanely petty. BOTH Jason and Percy deserve equal amounts of respect.
God forbid a teenage boy say he's better than the other as a joke, he's such a terrible, stuck up, and shitty person who deserved death for that, isn't he?

The only numbers he knew how to write were 7 and 9. I can't stop crying.
Qi-ge = Big Brother seven.
Xiao Jiu = Little brother nine.
I knew there was 79 content in the book and I was still unprepared. 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
Luo Binghe is so cruel, a true disciple of the one who raised him.
Tumblr media
Shen Jiu is the heartless type so of course there was no reaction when Yue Qingyuan died...... Yeah right.💔
Tumblr media
And then to have it confirmed that their red string of fate really did cut. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yue Qingyuan worked so hard. He worked so hard because he so desperately wanted to come back and save the only person he'd ever loved.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But somehow, Shen Jiu was far more adept at saving the one life he loved. The one life he would kill for without hesitation.
Tumblr media
Yue Qingyuan was the only person in this entire world that Shen Jiu wanted to save. 💔💔

Something I LOVE to talk about is the process of ascension! Not just the act of transferring consciousness to a digital format, but everything that goes on before that happens. The process is beyond inhumane.
Ascension was a developing science for a good portion of the series. The Eternity Project was going out on a limb on how ascension worked. Using shoddy practices to back up their theories.
What kind of shoddy practices, you ask? “akin to medieval doctors utilizing leeches attempting to treat a malady.” That’s a direct quote from the Eternity Project’s website! They knew the process was “barbaric” but continued using methods with weak scientific backing to carry out the process.
This, plus the initial idea that 1.) Only kids could ascend, and 2.) The subject that is getting digitized has to have a lot of adrenaline for it to work. Meaning the person had to be awake to some degree to become panicked. The Moon Children Cult/Eternity Project targeted “disenfranchised and outcasted youths searching for a home”. A surefire way to not get caught. This meant it was mainly kids taking the brunt of this torture for a good chunk of time before the adults did.
The third installment of the arg is when the process got somewhat better. Better is used VERY loosely. There is no guarantee ascending won’t hurt because it depends on the practitioner! A practitioner who works for a deeply exploitative organization. Even after all that, it’s still not promised the person will get to be the character they ask for.
Of course, it doesn’t stop there, because even when digitization is complete, more things can go wrong, such as memory loss!
Don’t even get me started on how all the members that make up BEN were forced into digitization!

i love you, characters who have the explicit purpose of representing entire concepts in the narrative. i love you, characters bigger than themselves. i love you allegorical characters. i love you characters so wrapped in metaphor and the creator philosophizing through you it eclipses you as a "person," i love you characters who haunt the narrative long after you're gone. i love you characters who are doomed because the thing that they represent are doomed. i love you characters who are more lesson then character.

i'm reading the extras in svsss and oh my god yue qingyuan and shen jiu are the literal epitome of doomed by the narrative. they are the most tragic pair; i mean, they were soulmates but they couldn't last in the original story or the new one because of the plot and the system 😭😭😭😭 i don't even know anymore jsifjejfjjwjx they're my fav couple now 😭😭😭😭

I was at work, minding my own business while listening to music, when all of the sudden "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2 starts playing and gut punches me.
Because I was thinking about Yue Qingyuan while it played, and it fits him and his situation with Shen Jiu so well.
I was on the verge of tears when these lyrics came up:
"Never thought she'd look my way
And she smiled at me and held me
Just like she used to do
Like she loved me
When she loved me"
I was about to break down sobbing in public because all I could imagine during this part is him thinking his Xiao Jiu is finally looking at him again and happy, without knowing that the person his referring to is actually Shen Yuan because SJ has been long dead.

idk. just thinking about those five years in which shen qingqiu was gone. and luo binghe was very *obviously* grief-stricken and in mourning. also thinking about how shang qinghua, as mobei-jun's right hand man, was probably around luo binghe often. thinking about how shang qinghua knew *exactly* what had happened but never told luo binghe. until he did. lol.
