i think about it ALL THE TIME. especially in the way that i think kevin also just really struggled with general life skills when he got out the nest, and struggled with the foxes reactions to his inability to do very ‘basic’ ‘normal’ tasks

like the foxes realising that kevin does Not know how to do like.. very regular things like he does not know how to cook or make a reservation or call his doctor or drive a car or take the bus alone or or or and and i do think they would tease him at first and laugh at oh silly kevin and his lack of human normal person skills but when they see that’s he’s actually kind of upset at not being able to do pretty average stuff without asking for help or getting really nervous about trying it in case he does it wrong i, in my gentle heart, do hope and believe they would all be sweet and patient to him and actively try to subtly teach him the skills that, to no fault of his own, he genuinely just never got taught because hey where’s the time for learning interactive skills in ur underground cult school eh!

anyways i just think it’s a very sweet image to think about nicky patiently explaining recipes to kevin and showing him each steps or matt volunteering to take him around the city on the bus to get the hang of the routes or all the little things andrew does for him !!!!

maybe this comes off coddling or a bit odd but also maybe i just wish kevin had been treated a little more gently in canon in what was truly a traumatic and deeply sheltered upbringing brushed off into like oh kevin is annoying and not personable bla bla bla

The thing about Kevin, though, is that he is very, very, very good at hiding things. He had to be. Kevin knows how to act natural when someone walks in on him doing something that he shouldn’t, no reaction on his face. Kevin knows exactly how to look like he’s doing something when he’s doing nothing at all, when he’s listening in on a conversation that’s happening across the room. Kevin learned how to keep himself out of trouble as much as possible, and that meant becoming sneaky, becoming careful, becoming subtle.

I think that when Kevin comes out of the nest, it’s almost impossible to notice just how far behind his ability to function is. He doesn’t give anybody the chance to notice, regardless - he avoids cooking in front of anyone where he can, avoids doing the things he knows he can’t do where people can see him.

As you say, it comes to calling the doctor, or taking the bus, or tying a tie, or understanding social cues, or knowing how to order food over the phone, or grocery shopping. It comes to childhood songs and rhymes and games and Kevin doesn’t have a clue.

Wymack is the first to notice, obviously, and it’s a little while before Andrew notices too. The thing about this is not that it’s a big blinking red sign that says KEVIN IS INCAPABLE OF FUNCTIONING. It’s the little things, the things people deem common sense or muscle memory. He doesn’t know how to use a washing machine, or a coffee machine. He doesn’t know how to properly wash dishes.

But Kevin is very good at avoiding the things he can’t do. He’s very good at making sure his teammates don’t find out how incapable he is of doing certain things. It’s not his fault, it’s the way he was raised, but he still feels… embarrassed by it, in a way. When Nicky looks at him and says, “Kevin Day doesn’t even know how to make a grilled cheese?” and laughs, it hurts. It hurts when Allison throws a comment over her shoulder about how he doesn’t know how to talk to people, or when the team are playing some common childhood game and Kevin has absolutely no idea what is going on. He wishes he knew, he wishes he was raised to know, but he doesn’t.

(David teaches him how to tie a tie, naturally. When Kevin has an ear infection, and Abby and Wymack aren’t around, maybe Renee is the one that writes out a script to make a doctors appointment, “Hi, I’m sorry to bother you, I’m looking to make an appointment for…”. Matt shows him how to take the bus, and Dan shows him how to do laundry. Maybe Allison teaches him how to flirt, or put up boundaries. Maybe Andrew teaches him how to drive, and maybe Neil shows him how to light a fire or tie a knot. Nicky shows him how to order a cab. Aaron teaches him how to make Mac and cheese. Once they all see how much it actually effects Kevin that he lacks these “basic” skills, I think they all find their own ways to teach him little things. Whether they mean to or not.)

What the Hell is Wizard101 (and Pirate101)

I'm making this post for the lovely @ellazimmermansblog, who is very sweet and wants to actually have half a clue what's going on in the fandom that I'm in but she's not. And oh sweet cheese and crackers. You asked for it. I tried to leave this in the comments. I really did. This is gonna get long, so feel free to read this in chunks or disregard it or just read it whenever you get the time.

Genre:

Wizard101 is a JRPG or junior-role-playing game that's also an MMO or Massive Multiplayer Online game that was big in the 2010s. In case you don't know what those are:

A JRPG is a game where you basically play as the protagonist of a middle grade fantasy/adventure story, meaning the target audience is usually 7-13. Think Pokemon or Kingdom Hearts.

An MMO is a game where everybody who plays the game is playing at the same time, in the same world. You can always interact with other players and are heavily encouraged to team up and collobarate.

While it is advertised as "free to play," it's only free for like the first hour or so of playtime. You can do the tutorial and like two other areas before you have to fork over some cash for a membership.

Basic Story:

Anyway, the spoiler-free story of Wizard101 is that you are a young Wizard enrolled in Ravenwood School of Magic by Headmaster Ambrose. He found you magically transported from "a strange world that doesn't believe in magic" (read: Earth). He believes you may be "the one we've been searching for." After doing a personality quiz to decide which school of magic you belong to, your enrollment is immediately crashed by Malistaire Drake. He used to be the Professor for the Death School, until his wife fell ill and he went mad with grief and turned evil trying to bring her back.

After beating up your would-be teacher, you learn that he's been unleashing scores of undead onto Wizard City, mind-controlling people, is going after major infrastructure, and is just being a dick in general because he's eeeeeeeeviiiiil. Ambrose turns you loose in the streets to help a number of other student NPCs save the city and do general damage control.

The main story of Arc 1 basically has you trekking after Malistaire like a lunatic, cleaning up his messes and trying to stop him from breaking the world apart while he attempts to ressurect his wife. This is where me and my brother J-Dog are at in our playthrough.

But there are 4 arcs, and the story continues WELL after you mop up the Malistaire problem. It's basically the Young Wizard saving the spiral from major threat after major threat, trekking through quirky worlds willy-nilly, and meeting a massive and entertaining cast of NPCs, all with different motivations and sidequests and problems for you to solve (or cause).

Each world in the spiral is also kind of an analogy for a real life place or a popular fictional story, but you replace all the humans with anthropomorphic animals (I'm really not sure why this game isn't more popular with furries). Marleybone, for example, which is where my brother and I are right now, is analagous to Victorian era England and populated by a bunch of stiff-upper-lipped dogs that nobody likes, mutliple crime rings of cats, and a contingent of Irish foxes that only appear in the less-popular but very good companion game: Pirate101 (I'll get to that).

That's the most basic I can make the gist, but there's still a lot of other basic information that might matter when I talk about it, so I'll put that under a cut!

Magic Basics:

The 7 main schools of magic that you can play as, and what they're general purpose/ability is are as follows:

Storm: Hit things really hard in exchange for a low accuracy rate and lower base HP. Glass cannons basically. This is what I'm playing as.

Fire: Also hitting things, but focuses more on damage-over-time spells that kill your enemies slowly.

Ice: Damage Sponge. They have the highest natural health pool, access to some decent spells early on to reduce damage, and even have a taunt spell that can draw enemy fire onto them (this isn't very useful in practice from what I've heard).

Those are the three elemental schools. The next three are spirit schools.

Life: Healers. What did you expect? They're the only class with the ability to heal other players. They get a high health pool, really good accuracy, and a lot of healing spells, but they're less good at hitting things and dealing damage. This is what J-Dog is playing as.

Myth: Summons. You can summon lots of different minions to help you out. From what I understand, each minion plays slightly differently and you're supposed to build different strategies around what they give you.

Death: Drains. Stealing health from the enemy basically. A lot of their spells will hit the enemy really hard, and then give half of that back to you. Because of the capability to hurt and heal in the same turn, they're the best to solo the game with.

And finally there is a school that lives in between Elemental and Spiritual:

Balance: battlefield control. They have a lot of damage increasers and damage reducers, and have the capability to mess with the powers of any of the other schools.

While each class does have it's unique and specific niche, they do all have the same main function: summon a monster to hit your enemy. All the combat in the game is done in a summoning circle where you take turns summoning monsters to hit each other. Each side can have up to 4 allies at a time (are we sensing a number theme yet).

Each enemy in the game has an assigned school that they belong to. Casting spells from the same school as them does less damage, while spells from the opposite school are stronger. Opposites are as follows:

Life and Death

Fire and Ice

Myth and Storm

Balance is a special snowflake that has no opposite :)

Your ability to cast spells depends on your Mana, which can be restored with blue wisps of magic floating around the world. Your ability to not be dead depends on your health, which can be restored with red health wisps.

Most spells that you cast, especially damaging spells, have a chance to "fizzle" or fail to cast. It's like missing in a pokemon game. This is the bane of every player's existence.

There are also Astral Schools later that do other things, but I ain't got there yet, so it's whatever.

Extracurriculars:

There are a number of other fun things you can do in Wizard101 that don't involve saving the world:

PvP: player versus player combat! Get the shit beaten out of you by people with more time and money! For fun! Beat the shit out of other people and win arena tickets, which can buy you cool prizes like better gear!

Pets: You can have a number of adorable little animal companions that, if you take good care of, will help you in combat! Some of them cast spells on their own, some of them give you extra spells to cast, some of them have passive abilities that increase your strength, and all of them will get more helpful the more you train them. You train them via minigames, like teaching them to dance or having them eat snacks off a stage or FIRING THEM OUT OF CANONS (amongst other questionable activities).

Gardening: Take care of the weirdest assortment of magical plants you've ever seen, in exchange for harvesting them for money and crafting ingredients and treasure cards and stuff. All of them are puns btw. Like. I have laugh-o-dils, despairagus, baby carrots (literal screaming baby carrots in diapers), and dandelions (which have actual lion faces) to name a few.

Fishing: Pull weird magical pun-based fish out of the water and sell them for exorbitant amounts of cash or stick them in your aquarium or something!

Monstrology: Study various creature types by killing them a lot until you become an expert and can either summon them as minions, stick them in your house, or just get EXTRA good at killing them.

Crafting: Use natural ingredients you found across the spiral (reagents) to make better gear yourself!

There's also photomancy, but that's just a glorified screenshot feature and we all know it.

NPCs:

Me and everybody else who plays this game is fucking obsessed with all of the non-player characters in both games. There are so many of them though, and they're so different from each other, that you're better off just asking who's who every time I post about one.

Pirate101:

While the Wizard is off being a tragic chosen one saving the spiral from various world-ending threats, there are other adventures going on underneath their nose! Pirate101 takes place at the same time and in the same universe as Wizard101, but never interacts beyond vague references.

The basic spoiler-free plot of this one is that you are a young orphan who got thrown into prison after crossing the Clockwork Armada, a tyrannical army of steampunk clockwork robots who want to conquer the world and end our God Given Right to steal shiny things (and also suppress free will or something. Idk. I never got that far).

You're broken out of jail by eccentric pirate captain Boochbeard and his monkey first mate Mr. Gandry, drag a fellow captive along with you, beat up one of the high-ranking members of the Armada, and are taken to the pirate safe haven of skull island. You're introduced to it's steward, the successful and retired pirate Captain Avery, who immediately enlists you as his errand boy/girl/goblin thing. You meet one of the first companions of your crew, Bonnie Anne, and together you run some turncoat sharks out of town.

After proving yourself to Avery and getting swindled out of a real ship, you basically spend the rest of the game chasing after untold gold and riches, beating up the Clockwork Armada, and helping out unfortunate souls where you can.

The critical difference between wizard and pirate though: The wizard makes temporary NPC acquaintances and even a few true friends, but they're always left to fight alone with just themselves (and a few other wizards if you're playing the game multiplayer, as intended). Meanwhile, the pirate is collecting ragtag companions for their motley crew like they're pokemon cards. Some of them are looking for adventure, others money, others freedom or a new life, and a lot of them just feel like they owe you because you beat them up.

All of these NPCs join your crew and you can have up to 3 of them in a fight with you, in addition to a pet. They all have highly entertainig personalities and different sets of abilities that are useful in different scenarios.

Pirate101's combat is much more up close and personal, playing more like chess where you have a bunch of different pieces that you have to strategically move around to hit different attacks with.

The different classes of pirate, which are determined by which crime got you in jail at the beginning of the game, are as follows:

Musketeers (my fave): guns and traps. The idea is that you don't have to get too close with them.

Witchdoctor: magic! They function sort of similarly to wizards in wizard101, but they can also hit things over the head with their staff and get stabbed, so no they don't.

Privateers: Healing, boosting, and commanding other pirates

Bucanners: Big sword that hits one thing very hard (and also big defense) at the cost of more agility and freedom to move.

Swashbuckler: Also hitting things, but less defense and health in exchange for more agility.

Pirate101 also has ship combat. While Wizard has convenient magical teleporters to move you between worlds, Pirate101 said "get in your boat and drive there yourself." You basically fire canonballs at each other until one ship gets damaged so badly it stops moving and gets boarded, at which point you transition to regular combat.

Pirate101 is in general, the neglected younger sibling. Kingsisle doesn't pay a quarter as much attention to Pirate, but it's still really good.

Apart from the companions and the combat, the biggest difference in pirate is probably your lack of supervision. You don't constantly have people glaring over your shoulder and telling you what to do, you just have a ragtag gang of misfits and a general order to "get money, don't die, and don't be a dick." The pirates get to be very chaotic in comparison to the wizards.

Holy mackeral, that was a lot. Anyway, I played both games a lot as a kid and spent my summer allowance on memberships for them. Now that I have an adult brain and adult money and am a lot better at video games, I have returned to enjoy them again, and I am dragging my brother along with me (don't worry, he's having fun too).

I highly recommend that you play them both, they're very fun. But this post should be a good guideline if you don't want to put that much investment into it, but still want to have half a clue what I'm talking about when I bring up either game. Thanks so much for asking!

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

I think Aaron loves the IDEA of dressing smart and looking very professional/put together, but I don’t think he enjoys the reality of it. My Aaron has ADHD so there’s a lot of sensory aspects to wearing more professional clothes that don’t always sit with him, and he’s got a gut instinct that he always wants to have easy movement (it’s part of his CPTSD) so the restrictiveness of them doesn’t always sit right with him either. Plus he just hasn’t been able to afford very nice clothes in his life. I think he likes the excuse to get dressed up for work events/friends’ weddings in the future when he can afford nice tailored suits (trying to find trousers off the rack that fit his legs! Impossible 😭), but he’ll also be the one halfway through dinner with the jacket off, tie loosened, and sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

Mostly I think you’ll get him in comfy clothes, and since he’s active that’ll be a lot of sweatpants (jeans are fine casual wear but when you’ve got DOMS in your legs that make getting off the toilet a challenge, sometimes the pressure of jeans against skin is NOT serving you) and hoodies (he runs cold). He would also LIKE to be kind of dark academia aesthetic but a lot of the knitted jumpers have itchy material he doesn’t like and once you get into too many layers it feels restrictive again, so there’s a disconnect from how he’d LIKE to dress & how he does. Especially since he’s exhausted between classes and assignments and practice and all the general shit drama that goes on with the Foxes ALL ! THE ! TIME ! To be wasting extra brain energy on putting outfits together.

He’ll put in more effort for dates and has a few nice outfits in the style he likes but doesn’t usually wear for if he and Katelyn are going somewhere a bit fancy. I think she probably gets him little pieces as gifts now and then. Sweaters with nice soft fleece insides, button up shirts with fun patterns on them Aaron would never buy for himself but will wear because they’re from her.

He grew up with little choice, so younger Aaron was really in whatever he could get his hands on. Often secondhand. Sometimes threadbare. Never in style. Clothes he’d wear until they started to fall apart. Very rough when he was really young and hadn’t been taught how to maintain his hygiene. Sort of learned that through negative reinforcement from his peers and became really meticulous about it. Hand washed in cold water over the bathtub a lot of the time because they’d have no power or the machine would be broke or he’d have no change for the laundromat.

He’s around for the rise of emo but I think he’s anti-skinny jeans LMAO. Loves a good band shirt/graphic tee, especially if it’s got a subtle logo. Owns at least a couple of all black outfits for Eden’s. I think dark jeans, cargo pants, loose plain black tee, black button up (long and short sleeve, these are from his bartending days actually). I think outside of that he likes earthy colours. Greens/browns/maroons/dark reds/deep purples.

Like he’s not a huge fan of orange or particularly overflowing with team pep but he will wear his varsity jacket a lot because it’s comfy & easy & Katelyn likes to “steal” it to wear & also sometimes people are nicer to him if they see him as an athlete. Which, ugh, whatever, but also, ugh, the desperate desire for some small positive social interactions that he will never admit to. Think he also has a denim jacket in his regular rotation and a couple of hoodies he likes.

Since Aaron doesn’t like to stick out much and purposefully tries to blend into the background I don’t think he’d have a super distinct “style” and he really just goes with what’s comfiest most days!

Party of Four is an adult interactive fiction game with RPG, romance, and dungeon break themes written in ChoiceScript.

Synopsis: The world is at peril from dungeons, portals that appear across your world that are filled with traps and monsters.

Maymie Fox: A mage with an affinity for short-range elemental attacks, Maymie will do whatever it takes to come out as the top dog. As an ex-street rat her morals are questionable at best, and vicious at worst. If you make a friend of her, she will drag you right to the top with her, whether you like it or not.

Jem Miye: A little shy, and a lot awkward, Jem is the quintessential healer. Like you, he's a Disciple, but to the God Melekoth, who rules the Moon. He has a feminine appearance that makes him insecure, but you can build him up with your friendship (or love).

Linzel Syrat: Linzel is just charming enough to mask how much he absolutely does not care about other people’s problems. He wants to join your party for the profit. After all, he has a giant spider/bat named Fancy to feed, and he’ll be the first one to tell you that insects and mice large enough to satisfy his bestie are not easily sourced outside of dungeons. (Familiar choice available to players who might suffer the 8-legged aversions.)

Aslo Gergin: Loud, brash, a man's man, Aslo is a mage who likes to fight on the front lines, no matter how ill-advised others think it is. He's more than happy to show off his scar collection to anyone that asks. And when he wants something, there is very little Aslo won't do to get it.

Sweets: A follower and devotee to the Goddess Myrtle, patron of music and merrymaking, Sweets is a rather playfully mysterious bard who resides in Sentari, the capital of Vert. They enjoy getting other people to talk about themselves and making a pretty penny at the night markets off accidental confessions or juicy gossip in general. Your name is on a lot of tongues lately and Sweets is very interested to know more.

Imagine for a moment, a crossover between All for the game and Six of crows. The absolute CHAOS that would ensue. I think Renee and Inej would get along very well. Matt would help Mattias learn how to express his masculinity in a healthier way and generally just be a good role model for him. Jesper, Allison, Nina, and Nicky NEED I SAY MORE? I want just want to see how they interact with each other. I could see Andrew potentially taking Wylan under his wing, he sees a tiny bit of Neil in the way Wylan tries to act normal but really he knows how to make bombs and cares greatly for the people he's close to despite not being raised to be that way, idk, it makes sense in my head. I also think Kaz and Andrew would develop a begrudging friendship with each other since they have a good amount of things in common. KAZ AND HIS CREW COULD TAKE DOWN THE ENTIRE MORIYAMA EMPIRE CHANGE MY MIND. As long as they team up with the foxes for info and a bit of extra help, they could do it. Let's be honest, they would end up crashing the entire New York economy just for funsies. I'm not sure how Kevin fits into this but he would definitely be calling all of them idiots at one point or another.

Ugh the obsession with Louis' sexuality and "outing him" to fit their own narrative is so gross. 

The thing is, Louis has been so gracious with sharing his vulnerabilities and setbacks, but also with some of the personal relationships in his life. I wish people would talk more about those. 

The glimpses of the sweet bond with his grandparents/sisters, bff lovefest with Oli (my favorite Louis/sign interaction is the one where he's tickled by someone asking if Oli is single -he's not, sorry sign), Charlie (cuties, just cuties!), Krystal (silver fox look is on point), his songwriting partners, the band (I love that he found his people who are just as hilarious as he is). These relationships are important to Louis now, and are so much more interesting than speculation about his sexuality/sex life or gawd, Harry, who he hasn't been seen interacting with in years. 

If people could stop head-canoning they could focus on how much loveliness Louis actually shows us.

Remember in the scene in the AFHF 2021 documentary where Grandpa Len and Grandma Jen are coming back to the green room to see Louis, and even before anyone notices, Joni had already arranged for Len’s wheelchair to be accessible? It was so smooth as to be seamless. That’s the way that his security guards treat him, with care and consideration.

I remember the way Louis hired a tattoo artist team at the end of LTWT to do complimentary tattoos for the whole crew. He considers them a team, not just employees.

I also remember the cursed concert at Red Rocks last year (RIP triggering for me in multiple ways), where a lot of fans close to the stage said that Louis’ crew helped fans take shelter when the Red Rocks employees refused to help.

The first time we saw the band spend considerable time together — filming the Walls music video in Morocco. Charlie Lightening was an inspirational filmmaker and the video was gorgeous. And the band was so good (Steve Durham loml playing drums inside the target!). And Louis… my God he’s always gorgeous but he outdid himself there.

Louis’ sisters are annoying to me in their influencer ways, but you can’t deny that Louis is an incredibly generous, kind brother to them. After Jay died, fans worried about Louis and his responsibilities to his sisters so much. It was a very complicated and traumatic time for everyone. Louis has said that the fandom experienced the darkness with him, and it really felt like that, like a dark tunnel that went on forever, no light at the end, sharp objects appearing out of nowhere. We complain about boredom now, but these times are very different than how it felt 2017-19. It was hell.

Foxes Headcanons (Modern Day: Social Media Edition)

•Neil Josten uses social media after canon.

^ he posts the most vague shit ever and dark humor posts. He also has an anonymous hate page full of Riko Moriyama being clumsy or clips from the game where he lost against the foxes.

^^ he uses audios on TikTok and other socials that imply he’s fallen for someone he was on a team with and just lets the fan base assume it was Matt bc the whole Andrew/Neil rivalry. He likes to see reactions.

•Andrew starts to do art to express himself.

^He has a few anonymous art accounts throughout a few platforms and posts like twice a week on each. Hes really popular on TikTok and insta.

^^Neil stumbles across his content and realizes it’s him because he posted a picture he drew and sat on his dresser. Neil doesn’t tell him but frequently visits the accounts bc he wants to see Andrews art but knows he isn’t comfortable sharing in person or he would have.

•Matt and Dan would be influencers.

^ Matt mostly does sports equipment rating and reviews but he also does goofy ass videos with the rest of the foxes. Dan would do a lot about woman rights and activism in general. Big supporter of the LBGTQ.

^^ I like to think they’d occasionally do videos where Dan reviews make up products but uses them on Matt instead. They’re usually silly.

•Aaron takes pictures of every drink he gets from Starbucks and is obsessed. He is a Starbucks girly and has over 200000 pts on the app.

^He saves the pts to use when he’s desperate and for whatever reason didn’t have his wallet on hand.

^^^Starbucks deadass sponsors him.

•Kevin doesn’t do socials and just hired people to run accounts for him.

^ He does the photo shoots and tells them specifically what photos to use. He also puts interview clips so people often time think they’re just fan accounts.

•Allison uses her reach as a Sport player to advertise her clothing line.

^ She she has posts with lines such as casual wear, athletic wear, business casual/proffesional wear, and normalizes business making plus size clothes.

^^ she makes a few different lines for her friends and never posts them or sells them to the public. This includes armbands for Andrew, bandanas for Neil, one of a kind pride outfits for all the gay bitches on the team (let’s be real they’re all fruity), fox themed shirts for casual wear (even after they stop playing for the foxes)

to what degree does jack in your story consider his Helpers as: his children? his friends? His Fancy Professional Colleagues? his Annoying Co-workers? extensions of himself, his soul, his very being? (are they are part of him? when they hurt, does he hurt?)

how mischievous are these Helpers, and does he encourage/enable their naughty behaviors?

how does he manage their training or, perhaps if needed, discipline?

how does he express gratitude for their help, or pride in their accomplishments?

readers of at the center may remember that i gave jack three different Helpers (jackie, the frost bunny; jacqueline, the frost fox; jax, the frosty owl) in my story, and each Helper had their own personality, so his relationship (emotional, working/professional, etc.) was different with each! in that sense, it was really fun to explore jack's role as guardian not only as a Newbie to the A-team and as a low-key Guardian-in-Training for elsa, but also to see how he would fare "managing" a team of his own. like you, i LOVED playing around with how he'd connect with different Helper personalities! so, the questions listed above are just a few points that came to mind while writing this post, as i was sat here thinking about what questions i asked myself while i was exploring jack's behaviors in working with his Helpers in atc! 💕 i hope they're helpful!

general headcanons, re: interacting with kids:

here are some BIG questions that come to mind!

what do children represent to elsa, in your story? does seeing small children bring her nostalgia, bittersweet feelings, regret, happiness, hope for the future (of her kingdom, for herself?), memories of when she and anna were younger (and the childhoods that were ripped away from them when elsa was forced to isolate herself)?

does seeing small children bring up Old Fears about losing control and potentially hurting someone? (most people who have never held a baby before are going to be Anxious when someone thrusts a baby into their arms, but for elsa, who has all these additional supernatural worries on top of natural discomforts, how does that manifest in her reactions and behaviors?)

does seeing small children bring elsa a sense of hope and joy, remind her of some buried-down desire to be/curiosity of being a mother (to be like her mother, to be so much better than her mother, to do all the she can to be a parent who honors her mother), which for so many years felt like an impossible, impossible hope (which she pushed so far down inside herself she forgot the wish existed)?

do children bring up, regardless of her hopes/plans to physically bear and raise children, her maternal instincts? (how might you show that her maternal/older sister instincts/caregiving tendencies are at least partially rooted in—and in many ways connected to—her duties, honor, and obligations as the Mother of Arendelle, the Queen, the ruler over an entire family and kingdom of people) that feel natural and familiar? something new?

what do children represent to jack, in your story? at this stage of development, does jack still carry any resentment? fear of rejection or abandonment? excitement and security over feeling connected, feeling a sense of belonging? to what degree do the Helpers/kids fulfill his Need to be Needed; make him feel like he is helping someone, that someone relies on him and needs him?

to what degree is jack able, willing, and ready to manage the responsibilities or behaviors of someone else? for someone who has made a point of shirking responsibility and duty, and who (at the time of the movie) only recently started to change his preconceived notions of what it means to be a part of a team and to take ownership and accountability or to willingly submit oneself to a higher order of moral codes and rules and high-stakes responsibilities... how does he handle the emotions, decision-making moments, and physical strain of witnessing someone else take on such a role, especially with being higher up in the hierarchy of leadership? does jack consider himself a leader? (do the others consider him a leader at this point?) what do the other guardians think of jack's growth and progress (or lack thereof), at this point in the story? (do their perceptions change, throughout?)

to what degree do jack and elsa see these Helpers, or younger individuals, kids, etc. in ways that remind them both of their respective younger sisters? in which ways do jack and elsa see their sisters in these young individuals/Helpers? how are their behaviors toward, dialogues with and about, and perceptions of the Helpers/kids shaped by the relationships they have with their own sisters?

although jack may technically have more 'experience' (using this term loosely here lol) in watching kids behave (while he was invisible, or after) and knowing what circumstances allow kids/teens to engage in fun (a la the rotg movie, in which the other guardians were initially completely out of touch loololol, as you suggested), this experience as a guardian of the children may or may not entirely transfer to leading, managing, coaching, training, disciplining, or interacting with a Helper spirit under his care (or his jurisdiction). in your story, to what degree is jack naturally adept at being responsible for 'staff' under his leadership?? this could be a REALLY fun place to explore (which is what i really wanted to dive into in at the center!!)

also, consider: although jack may have had more years of working with younger kids, who has more experience leading? how might elsa (in her role as queen, or as a member of the Older Sister Syndrome community, or with her exceptional perceptiveness and observation and anxiety-driven need to constantly Read the Room and be prepared for Any Outcome) be able to teach jack? in particular, how might elsa be able to teach jack means of navigating difficult decisions, difficult conversation? how might elsa be able to share what she has learned from being a queen and a ruler with jack, so that he is able to fulfill his role as a mentor while still being true to himself?

before elsa was cut off from the rest of the world, she was undeniably a natural at being a fun, loving, caring, and protective Older Sister to anna; depending on where you are in elsa's development after she was cut off from the world and/or (potentially) found her way back, which elements of that core, buried, uncovered(?), Natural piece of her personality remain? how would they come out in interactions with kids now, at this point in your story (whether they emerge naturally, or are coaxed out by jack or the Helpers themselves)?

also, peacock that jack is, i wouldn't doubt it for a second that jack might, at first, be led to believe that he is more adept at handling Helpers/kids than he really is. 😂 ("piece of cake!!") he might feel emboldened by his 'years of experience' as a(n invisible) guardian, and he might further take confidence from his restored Memories of his human life with his sister and the village kids; but to what degree do these Memories actually translate into and help prepare him for the new responsibilities, dangers, and emotional connections with his Helpers/these kids ahead? how does jack handle the confusion, frustration, surprise, and shifting worldviews that occur when he realizes the depths of the differences between his old experiences and the new situations he faces? (how does jack handle struggling with learning something new? especially when he'd thought that it was going to be so much easier than it is...) how does jack handle taking advice from others (guardians, elsa, anna, Kristoff, etc.?) how does jack handle it when things don't go according to plan, especially when he expected a smoother ride? (😂)

how does elsa support and teach along the way (to jack and to the Helpers themselves)? what does elsa learn from the Helpers, from jack, through jack's navigation of these new challenges and how he overcomes them? how does jack learn from elsa as he watches her face these challenges beside him?? what do they (and do they not) learn from each other???

Random thoughts about the team (+Morro, Wu & Garmadon) specifically & animals.

Ahah no reader content, I got inspired by the last post already for headcanons. So have a random headcanon of the basic Ninjago team with Morro & Garmadon mentions. Wu's canon so he gets to be here for being canonly a chicken owner.

Garmadon? Idk, personally don't think he'd be interested in animals. I think snakes freak him out. Maybe during the time if being alive and rid of evil maybe rats and birds, like introduced to him by Lloyd specifically? I do see him as a cat person though, I think he would enjoy a black cat due to the fears and shit surrounding the said cats. (Don't kill them, they're animals, they aren't bad luck.)

I do think Lloyd would be in theory a cat person but would prefer birds to cats. Maybe rats. (I think he's got a bit of distrust in cats.)

tbh everyone except maybe Zane and Nya would like a cat enough to take one as a pet in theory.

I think Nya's good with horses personally. I could see it. Also geckos for some reason.

Kai with an attitude problematic (lighthearted) bearded dragon (any kind of agama really, generally speaking on the standard beardie here). Especially if he entertains the scene and bops his head up and down to mimic the beardie. Said it before he seems like a dog person, but he really enjoys cats imo. (I think he personally doesn't really like horses, unlike his sister.)

Zane is seen interacting with fishes at the start, not going to follow up that sentence. But I think he would be one to like every kind of little animal to learn about them. From centipedes to dogs, to horses and exotics as well.

Speaking of exotic animals Cole and a fennec fox, or a fox in general. Maybe actually an insect like a centipede or amphibian like a frog possibly specifically a toad maybe?

Jay's another bird man(is it a pun in a way?) imo, or maybe a chinchilla or rabbit perhaps?

I think Morro used to take care of strays and birds when he was a child & actually alive. It would be really cool to think when he's still a ghost, just random passed away specifically strays are drawn to him. But he's whole vibe screams snakes to me as well personally.

Random Fanfic Idea 6

SPOILERS FOR PERSONA 5 AND RWBY

So, I was playing Persona 5 Strikers earlier today and I was looking at Fox's mask and realized that it reminds me of the White Fang in RWBY. And now I am imagining The Phantom Thieves in the world of RWBY, help my crossover love is taking over again.

But now I am thinking about how fun the thieves would be on Remnant. I imagine it being in Mistral due to the kinda Asian inspiration of that part of RWBY, but it is still a fun idea with many places it could go.

Imagine Panther, Fox and Mona in the faunus plot, and what that could affect. Or Noir having a fun impact on the Atlas arc. I also kinda want to imagine the team's reaction to the secrets revealed in Volume 6, because they would definitely have an interesting reaction.

Also Sophie and Penny need to interact, it writes itself. Same with Oracle and Penny, sounds so fun. In fact just the Thieves with Penny in general seems fun. Penny just makes interactions with others so unique due to the circumstances around her.

Truly this seems like a limitless surplus of ideas, but that's just me. Like always I am no writer but this is just a fun idea that I love to see other people extend on. Who knows, it could happen :D

You know what I appreciate most about your twitter AUs? How accurate the numbers and ratios are. It feels so realistic. What is your framework/reference for deciding how well a fictional tweet performs and who is verified, etc?

Oh interesting question!! honestly I feel like any post that has a picture of Kevin in it or is about him is going to have more likes/retweets, same way as any tweets by Kevin are ~usually~ going to have more interaction.

I think Kevin is most likely to be verified, Jean too, and then the USC team (meaning Cat, Laila and Jeremy in this au) are pretty much all verified because they’re older players + on one of the big 3 teams.

Post aftg though I feel like all of the foxes grow a whole lot more though. Most specifically bc of Neil’s drama but also having won the championships and just people in general being interested in what the foxes are up to.

Other foxes I think Allison could also be verified, and maybe Neil/Andrew and possibly Dan too. David would be verified too.

Based around Raven Seth au Seth/Riko

General idea is that Seth's issues with foxes came out of him being hard of hearing, which causes misunderstandings and affected his team play, he was also doing his best to mask it because he was worried that if they find out he is disabled they will question his ability to play and take away his scholarship (they wouldn't but Seth is paranoid and sure that everyone is out for him)

Seth is blackmailed into going to nest and becomes Riko's lil pet project, Riko is very attentive and slowly pieces together what Seth's issue is at the beginning everyone thought Seth is just simp bc his eyes are always on Riko while in fact Seth was just extra careful to always understand Riko not to put himself or his siblings in danger

but Riko noticed the difference in Seth's behaviour when they have helmets on and off

Seth likes Riko [for many things most of which are not healthy ] because Riko is loud, Riko is always loud and also very expressive in the way his body language connects to his mood and his speech which makes him probably one of the most readable people Seth could interact with

Riko end sup confronting Seth about it and they get him hearing aids

they end up in relationship together and Riko takes the initiative to learn himself sign language even without asking Seth and just comes to him every week to check things he learned Seth is very very moved by the gesture not only because wow bae learns whole language for me , but because its quiet promise that if Seth's hearing would deteriorate further Riko is prepared and will stay with him

they have a lot of small personal gestures Seth brushing his hair back while looking at Riko means ,, i think you look beautiful " [we had discussion about Riko being very insecure about his looks bc he is Japanese man raised in country with white beauty standards]

Deadpool and Wolverine

There will be some spoilers below the cut.  I won’t be going into any great detail about the cameo’s (although I will go into some general spoilers here and there is one character I will end up spoiling in the last paragraph); but I will be going into detail about where Deadpool stands in the MCU and that will have some spoilers for the plot.

Saw this a couple of nights ago and thank God it lives up to the hype.  I mean, from the beginning to the end; it hits ever beat it needs to.  Now, would I have had more criticism for parts of the plot if this had been any other Marvel movie? Yes.  But the Deadpool movies have always acknowledged how screwed up the X-Men timeline is, and how Deadpool is kind of shoehorned in, and it’s no different in this movie except that it also (somewhat) involves the MCU now.  And, yes, they also take a few cracks at the issues facing the MCU.

Also, Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova CANNOT be a one-time villain.  Establish the new X-Men team in their first movie; make Cassandra the villain in the second.  I need Charles vs. Cassandra. 

Of course, the biggest question on everybody’s mind going into the film is if Deadpool is going to join the MCU?  The answer is mostly no, but partly yes.  Most of this film isn’t even set in 616 or 10005, which is Deadpool’s universe.  But at the end of the movie, Deadpool is still in 10005.  And it seems like, if they so choose to continue with making Deadpool movies, they would be set in 10005. 

This film, for the most part, isn’t about the MCU at all (emphasis on the most part).  Like Spiderman’s No Way Home, this is more a celebration of what came before.  At Fox, they created a ton of X-Men movies…and several other movies highlighting Marvel characters.  So, yes, there are characters from the X-Men franchise that pop up here; there are also characters from other Fox made Marvel movies that also appear.  And, just like No Way Home, it was fun to see these characters one last time. 

Now, that being said…

Let’s talk about how the TVA and 616 do fit into this story.  So, this is a little complicated because all of this is kind of spelled out with a few not-so-subtle hints and reading between the lines as the events take place.  So, the TVA no longer is pruning timelines (as we know); but it’s clear that any timeline, bar the Sacred Timeline, they aren’t going to actively save if something causes it to unravel.  Which is what’s happening to Deadpool’s timeline.  The complication is that, this Deadpool apparently is going to be important to a future event that happens in the Sacred Timeline.  So, a rouge TVA agent decides to pull Deadpool out of his timeline in order to stick him in 616.  (I should note that I’m simplifying this a bit.  Pulling Deadpool out also has to do with the plan the rouge agent has for Deadpool’s universe as well, but I don’t want to get into all of that).

So, basically, the MCU is somewhat continuing the multiverse storyline here.  It’s letting us know how the TVA functions now.  It’s letting us know that, while Deadpool’s universe won’t be merging with the MCU; he will play a part in the universe at some point (probably Avengers 5 and 6).  That it will probably be the TVA who will bring him (and probably other characters as well) to the MCU during the big event.  So, Deadpool is confirmed to be MCU adjacent and will interact with the 616 characters as some point.

What about Wolverine?  Um, it’s less clear.  They make jokes about keeping Jackman in the role until he’s 90; but beyond that…basically, the end of the movie sets it up to where Wolverine and one other fan favorite could easily come to the 616 universe; but they don’t actively say that they are a part of whatever happens in the future. In other words, if Jackman or the other actor I won't mention want to return, they can.   

Bit of an edit here given tonight's announcement, it seems like Deadpool set up more than we realized. At the very least, there was that "cameo" joke that seems to tease RDJ's return. Also, while we've known for awhile one character can look different from universe to universe, Deadpool and Wolverine showed us that it is also possible that two characters have the same face. That's right, what we thought was a simple joke was the MCU establishing cannon.
