That final line - Joe Liebgott x F!Reader
Summary: Things have changed between Joe and Reader after bearing witness to the Concentration camp. They moved from being best friends to something more emotionally intimate. Now that the war in Europe is over will they cross the last line and become physically intimate?
Warnings: 18+ content (smut, p in v) angst-ish (mentions of war & concentration camp), comforting each other, tooth rotting fluff at end, she/her pronouns (no use of y/n or 1st person POV, but told from Liebgott's perspective sorta).
A/N: I have the biggest respect for the real life heroes of WWII (and all other wars, past & current), this work & all other works is based on the actor(s) and character(s) portrayed in the Band of Brothers series.
A/N pt 2: I love how this turned out. Basically this is just my own self-indulgence wish that I could have held and taken care of Liebgott after that scene of him crying in the truck. As always, let me know what you think! I tried a different writing perspective and I like it, hopefully you do too. Comments, likes, and reblogs make me happy and feel validated!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joe Liebgott would forever be a different man. Easy Company had just liberated Kaufering IV but that included locking the poor souls back up for the medics to be able to try and get them back from the brink of death. The whole thing had left Joe feeling broken and full of pure rage and despair he didn't know how to get rid of it. So he grabbed a bottle of wine and wondered till he found a tree isolated enough he wouldn't easily be found. He just needed space.
He'd been alone for hours, judging by how low the sun was hanging, bottle long since empty, and eyes sore and dry from tears when he heard a twig snap. Looking around the tree, his heart both swelled and shattered at the sight of the person walking towards him. She was his best friend, been that way since Toccoa and all through the war thus far. The only person that could calm him down when his hot-headedness got the better of him and always had his back in every combat situation. He never had to worry when she was around. She was also the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen and had long since accepted that his heart would always speed up a little when she was in eyesight. While his heart had the usual reaction at seeing her, he couldn't help but feel broken anew at the sadness on her face and emptiness in her eyes. He wasn't the only one tore up from their recent experience.
"I've been looking for you everywhere." She speaks barely above a whisper as she drops down next to him, already leaning against his arm.
"I'm sorry, I just had to get away for a while. I should have found you and brought you with me." He leans over to drop a kiss on the top of her head.
There's a beat of silence and then she speaks again, still in a low whisper, "Do you think they'll make it?"
The words are a dagger to his already bruised and bleeding heart. He gives a small sniff, trying to hold back the fresh tears.
"I don't know." He feels her turn her body towards him and knows she's taking in his appearance detail by detail.
"You can let it out, Joe. I know this is tearing you up. Please don't hold it in and let it destroy you." One hand grasps his while the other gently takes his chin and turns his head so their eyes meet. He tries to push the emotions back down and come up with something to say, but he loses all resolve when her hand moves to cup his cheek and wipe away a stray tear that falls out.
Joe is suddenly wrapping his arms around her, pressing his face in the crook of her neck and letting it all out. He feels her shift them so he's laying mostly on her, her back against the tree and arms tightly wrapped around him. One hand is gripping the back of his jacket tightly, holding him to her, the other is gently stroking his head, and when he feels the side of his face getting wet he knows she's crying too.
They stay like that for hours, until the sun is nearly gone and all tears have been let out. Even after the tears, they don't move, finding too much comfort in holding each other. The only thing that gets them finally moving is their stomachs growling. Joe gets up first, holding his hand out to help her up and starts walking them back to find some food. He looks down briefly when he feels her intertwine their fingers and give his hand a squeeze. The first smile he's had in days makes it way across his face and he squeezes her hand back.
As the days dragged on ahead, their bond grew even tighter. There was a new level of safety and vulnerability that blossomed. Hands would brush more often, hugs turned tighter and longer, if they were able to they'd often be found napping together tangled limbs and all. It was as natural as breathing to seek the other out and before Joe knew it, he was hit with the realization that he was head-over-heels in love with his best friend.
The popping of yet another champagne bottle drags Joe from his mulling and takes in the sight around him with a smile. They are in the Eagles Nest, the war in Europe is over and everyone is finally able to relax and celebrate. He's sitting by Webster and Perco, watching the other's talk and laugh, already more than a little drunk. His smile widens when he catches her eye, sitting next to Malarkey and they salute each other from across the room.
"You ever gonna make a move, Lieb?" Perco's question lands like a bomb right in his stomach.
"What the hell are you talking about?" He looks at the man next to him like he's crazy, but inside he's frantic. Is it that obvious?
"Oh come on, Liebgott. The two of you have been attached at the hip the whole war, even back at training. We've all noticed the stolen looks between you. The wars over, just go for it." Webster gives him a shove, pointedly ignoring the glare Joe shoots at him.
"I gotta take a leak." Joe abruptly stands and leaves before either of them can continue their pestering. They're right, he knows they're right. Since accepting his feelings, the only thing that's been holding him back has been the on-going war. Sure there's still Japan to figure out but right now, their immediate part is over and he doesn't have to worry about dying and leaving her or worse losing her any second to a bullet or bomb.
Not actually needing the bathroom, he finds himself wondering the halls of the Eagles Nest and randomly picking a room to go into. It's spacious with a sitting area, a large comfortable bed sitting against the back wall, a door leading to an adjoining bathroom next to it and doors to the right leading to a balcony. He heads to the balcony, throwing the doors open and leans against the railing taking in the mountains and open valley. It's so quiet and peaceful, he doesn't know how to reconcile it with the horrors the owner and occupants have done to the people of this land.
"Why am I always having to search for you?" A soft, happy voice speaks behind him. Joe turns around and feels his breathe catch in his throat at how beautiful and easy going she looks, leaning around the doorframe to the balcony. When he didn't respond, she stands up a little straighter. "What? Is there something on my face?"
Joe shakes his head and moves to stand in-front of her, raising his hand to trail a finger down her cheek. "You're beautiful."
"How drunk are you?" Her voice is playful, but Joe knew his words were having an effect on her based on the blush she now had.
"Not even tipsy. But drunk or sober, you're still beautiful." His hand cups her cheek, tilts her head up a little to fully meet his eyes and he decides to cross that final line. "I love you. I love you fully and completely; body, mind, and soul. I need you, more than I need to breathe. If you don't feel the same, that's fine. I will lock my heart away to keep you in my life however you wish to be. But the war here is done and I'm out of reasons to not tell you how I feel. Tell me you don't feel the same and I'll respect that, but if you feel even close to what I feel please let me know."
Joe see's tears form in her eyes and for a heartbreaking second he's sure she's going to tell him 'no' and walk away. Then he feels her hands on his face and holds his breathe as she rises on her toes, stopping when her lips are barely brushing his.
"I love you, Joe. I'm yours; body, mind and soul." And then her lips are pressing against his and Joe thinks he's died and gone to heaven.
Their kiss is passionate and slow, taking full advantage that they don't have to rush and can take their time exploring. Joe starts nudging her backwards, back into the main room and towards the bed. A line of clothes marks their path as they help each other be rid of them, kissing freshly exposed shoulders and necks as they go. Soon enough they've managed to be rid of everything and tumble onto the bed in a heap.
Joe leans back just enough to take in the site of her underneath him. Face flushed, lips swollen and glossy from kissing, hair spread out like a halo, chest rising and falling hard as she tries to catch her breathe. He leans his head down pressing kisses to her neck, trailing down her collarbone, around the swell of her breast and ending at her nipple. He takes his time delivering languid licks and sucks, making her skin pucker and rise. Not wanting to leave the other one out of the fun, his hand cups, massages and pinches a little on the flesh there, his other hand hasn't stopped caressing any part of her skin he can reach.
If he has any doubts of how he's making her feel, the gasps and moans falling from her lips dispel them quickly. Soon enough her hands are in his hair and scratching down his back as she wraps her legs around his waist pulling him closer. Joe stops his minstrations on her breast with a groan when his erection is pressed right against her wet core and he can't help but roll his hips into her again. This time they both moan.
"Joe, please. I need you." Her voice is ragged and the lustful look in her eyes almost has him finishing right then. He shifts to the side a little, giving him room to run his hand down her side and cup her core. She's soaking and his brain short circuits a little.
His fingers make quick work of making sure she is coated properly, detouring to her clit to rub until she starts to whimper and pull at him. As he meets her eyes, he raises his fingers to his lips and sucks her taste off of them.
"Goddamn, baby. Next time I'm spending hours down there." He rushes out as he positions himself at her entrance. "But if I don't have you soon, I might die." He looks at her for confirmation that she's ready and when she nods, he starts pushing in slowly.
They groan together at the feel of him sliding into place like a puzzle piece coming home. Once he's bottomed out, he drops down to his elbows, putting more of himself on top of her and rests his forehead against hers. Her thighs tighten around him as she turns her head to kiss him.
"Move. Please." She bites his bottom lip at the same time she scratches his back again.
"Yes ma'am." He presses his lips firmly to her, swallowing the moan she lets out as he pulls out and quickly snaps back in. He finds a steady rhythm, angling his hips just right so he's brushing that sweet spot within her. Her back bows, pressing her chest further into his and exposes her neck to his lips. He doesn't waste any time placing a hard bite where it'll be hard to hide the mark already forming. This spurs something in her and soon her hands are in his hair, tugging his head to the side as she returns the favor.
Joe can tell she starts to get close to her release, as her walls start fluttering around him and her moans start becoming more frequent. He raises himself up, gripping the headboard with one hand and dropping his other hand down to rub her clit.
"I know you're close baby. Look at me as you let go." His voice is deep and commanding. Her eyes immediately lock onto his and his movements pick up speed. A few more hard thrusts and a pinch on her clit and she's moaning his name and clamping down around him. The feeling of her combined with his name falling from her lips like a prayer has him falling right behind her.
As they come down from their highs, they exchange slow kisses and 'I love you's'.
Bonus scene:
Not wanting to waste a beautiful day, the guys had decided to have an impromptu baseball game. Joe stood in his spot, waiting to bat next, sending a smile and wave to the stands where his girl was watching and cheering. They were getting ready for the next play when Winters came strolling across the field. They all crowded around him, fully expecting to hear their deployment orders for fighting Japan. Instead he was giving them the best news they'd heard since VE day. Japan had surrendered. The war, all of it, was finally over.
All the guys started cheering, exchanging hugs and pats on the backs. Joe see's her coming towards them at an easy jog, a curious look on her face. He gives her the biggest smile and runs right up to her, lifting her in his arms and spins her around.
"Japan surrendered. It's over. We're going home." Her smile matches his as she fully takes in his words and hugs him back. Just as quick as it started, Joe stops spinning her and sets her down on her feet, then he's down on one knee, holding her hands.
"Marry me. Come back home with me. Or wherever you wanna live. I don't care. Just marry me, please." Everything dulls around the edges as he holds his breathe, waiting for her response.
"Yes, Joe!" She smiles bright enough to blind the sun and then starts laughing when he jumps back up and starts spinning her around again. The only sound is the cheering of their friends and their hearts beating in sync.

Prolonged love - Joseph Liebgott x Fem!Reader
Summary: Sometimes the best things in life take a long time, and sometimes life throws you for a loop. It sure threw (Y/n) for a loop when grabbing German POWs in Hagenau turns into her having to babysit a young Dutch girl.
Tw: Swearing, death, reader being trilingual, mentions of war, mentions of concentration camps, mentions of abuse, killing, slightly dirty? not full on smut, reader is female, slight misogyny due to the time period, she/her pronouns
Word count: 6.5k
I do not own Band of Brothers, nor do I own any of the characters. I am not intending to be disrespectful towards any of the people on this show
The Dutch name is pronounced like (Tina-ka) Tineke, and the nickname Tine is pronounced as (Teeny)
I was born in Chicago. My mother was born in Groningen, Netherlands, and my father in Antwerp, Belgium. I was the oldest child, and after me, my parents had five others. Despite having six kids, we were all taught Dutch and German from a young age. The sole reason I was accepted into the military was because of me being trilingual, I’ll forever be grateful to my parents for teaching me their languages.
February 9, 1945
Easy Company was on its way to France. We were stationed in Haguenau, which had been taken by the Allies in December. Honestly speaking, I didn’t really know what to expect when we got there. I was sitting in the back of a truck, squished between Babe and Liebgott. Joe had become a close friend way back in Toccoa when he’d fallen running up Currahee, and I stopped and helped him up. We both had our 48-hour weekend passes revoked, but we made the most of it that weekend together. After that, we’d spend our weekend passes together and hang out.
I was leaning against Joe as I’d been almost the whole ride, his arm slung around my shoulders as I read a book that I had found when we invaded Foy. It seemed the Krauts enjoyed good literature as I was reading For Whom the Bell Tolls in German. I was a translator for Easy Company, being able to speak English, German and Dutch, I was a heavy asset to the team. It was a beautifully told story about the Civil War that had some romance aspects while also being brutal. I finished the book twice, and now I was reading it a third time.
“Jesus doll, I think I’ve seen you read that damn book about forty times now. How good can it be?” Joe said when he noticed my attention had strayed.
“Oh it’s a beautifully told story, Joe. Although, I don’t think you could read anything that didn’t have pictures.” I replied jokingly to him, looking up at him from where I was leaning against him. I could hear Babe and Malarkey laughing, and a young soldier, Jackson watching intently.
“How can you read that, (L/n)?” A quiet voice asked in front of me. It’d been from Jackson. He lied on his documents so that made him 20 right now while I, at 23, was considered young.
“I can speak and read German. Although my mother is a Dutch immigrant, my father was a Belgium immigrant.” I spoke honestly. Picking up languages was a bit of a gift for me. I’d always been good at remembering and learning languages, probably since I was taught three languages at once from a young age.
“(Y/n)! I’ve read that book! It’s so beautifully written.” A new voice spoke from the opening in the back of the truck, I quickly jolted from Joe’s shoulder, as he groaned from lack of contact, to see who the familiar voice belonged to.
“David Webster? Where the hell have you been?” I interrogated, while simultaneously giving him a toothy smile. He blushed slightly while asking Jackson for a hand to get up on the truck and suddenly Joe spoke up sharply,
“The hospital. Must’ve liked that hospital Webster, cause uh, we left Holland four months ago.” After saying that he gave Web a dismissive look while tightening his hold on my shoulders. Suddenly, I felt very awkward, and slightly bad for Web - the war was tough and it was understandable to be afraid, it just wasn’t fair that some men snuck out only to get killed or injured more severely than the first time. They started going back and forth, jabbing at Webster passively, although it didn’t seem to be because they didn’t like him, they were just tired and upset. I gave Web a smile before getting off the truck, following Joe close behind.
“Y’know, you didn’t have to be so mean to Web.” I said calmly, making sure to not seem mad at Joe as to not have him get defensive.
“I guess, but it’s bullshit that we had men come back just to get killed.” He said quickly. When he said that, I saw Lieutenant Lipton sluggishly walking towards a building. The poor man had a bad case of Pneumonia, so I ran over and put his arm under my shoulders to help him. As I did that, explosions rang over our head and fell a little farther than we were. He gave me a smile and I helped him into the building he was walking towards. It was pretty on the inside, Luz and Captain Speirs were in the room along with Webster walking in.
“Hey look who it is. Nice digs, huh, Lip? (Y/n)?” Luz said to me and Lipton as I helped Lipton situate himself on the couch.
“Yeah.” Lipton called back, unenthusiastically and coughed slightly after.
George came over with a blanket and put it on Lipton. He had a lit cigarette in his mouth, so I took it out and took a long drag from it.
“Hey what gives (Y/n). Just ‘cause you’re a pretty dame with a nice rack doesn’t mean you can steal my cigs.” He said while laughing, only partly joking. I gave him a look and replied,
“You’re just mad, this is all you get to see of my ‘nice’ rack.”
He laughed and replied with a ‘you bet’. As he said that, a new voice spoke up, mock confident.
“Ahem. Is this the company CP for Easy?” He asked, looking at me and Luz weirdly before I went to get Lip a cup of hot coffee.
From the kitchen, I could vaguely hear that he called himself Lieutenant Jones and that he was asking for Captain Speirs. I came out with a coffee for Lipton as Speirs was drilling him about going to the back to sack out and rest. I noticed Jones had stood up when Speirs walked in.
“Christ Captain, give him a break. He’s got Pneumonia!” I told Speirs as I handed Lipton his coffee and gave him a squeeze on his shoulder. Lipton thanked me with a small smile as the new guy looked at me with an expression I couldn’t decipher.
“Hello to you Ms. (L/n). If he doesn’t rest up though, that Pneumonia won’t go away.” He said pointedly at Lipton.
“I’m sorry, are you a field nurse? I didn’t think they let field nurses come this close to action.” Jones asked me, even though he wasn’t asking with any malicious intent, and it was all curiosity, I still got upset.
“Why d’ya think I’m a field nurse? I’m literally in uniform.” I deadpanned at him while giving him a little attitude for automatically assuming I’d be a field nurse just because I was a woman.
“Oh. I’m sorry, truly I was just curious. I didn't mean any offense, I just didn’t know they let women become paratroopers.” He said quickly, face turning slightly red.
“They don’t. (Y/n) here has some insane stamina, and she’s a helluva shot!” Webster spoke up for me, and I threw him a smile.
“Oh gee, Shifty’s got a better shot than I’d ever dream of having.” I replied, giving credit to Shifty, as he did have a better shot and he was just the sweetest man alive. At that, Winters walked in and told us he’d need fifteen of us on a patrol tonight to capture prisoners. When he said he’d need a translator, I instantly knew it’d be me or Joe as we were the only two in Second Platoon who could speak German. Webster could as well, but we didn’t know which Platoon he’d be in.
After Nixon and Winters left, Speirs began talking to Lipton about who should lead, and who he could take for the patrol. During this, Jones asked to be on the patrol, which Speirs answered quickly and easily with a no, that he hadn’t any experience.
“Lipton, how many prisoners do you think there’ll be?” Speirs asked the man in question.
“Honestly, sir, I’m not quite sure, anywhere between three to forty it seems.” He said in reply.
“(L/n).” Speirs called for me as I was sitting in a chair reading.
“Ya want me to be a translator, that it?” I asked, knowing that’s what he was about to ask me.
“Yes ma’am.”
“Alright.”
When Webster and Lieutenant Jones left for OP two, I decided to get going as well. I knew Liebgott would be there so that was a good enough reason for me.
“Web, I’m comin’ with. Joe’s probably there right now.” I said to David, although slightly talking to Jones as well, to let him know I’d be going to.
“Yeah, no problem. Say when you’re finished with that book, d’ya mind if I reread it?” He asked me as all three of us walked down the street.
“Awh hell Web, I’ve read this thing three times now, you can go ahead and read it now.” I said while throwing him the book, silently noting how quiet Lieutenant Jones was behind us. The two men were running around crouching behind a little garden wall as I stood up, not seeing why they were doing that. When I heard the door open, Sergeant Kiehn came out, greeting me and Web and telling us where OP two was at. Before anymore words could get exchanged, bombs and mortars started raining down on us and we started running and ducking to take cover. We sat against the wall of a building before a man shouted out that it was all clear. After that, we quickly got to the building where OP two was located. Once inside, I immediately went upstairs and sat down on Joe’s bunk and plopped my stuff down.
“Hey doll, where’d you run off to?” Joe asked while wrapping his arms around me as a way to annoy me.
“Went to help Lip, where’d you go?” I asked while laughing at him.
“Came here.” He replied while digging his face into my stomach and faking sleep. Web and Lieutenant Jones came up not too long after I had, and when Jones saw me and Liebgott he immediately stiffened and gave me and Joe a weird look.
“This spot taken?” Webster asked.
“Nah it’s all yours.” Joe said to him while turning his face away from my stomach, my hands went down to card through his hair and he took notice of Jones’ look.
“Fuck are you staring at?” Joe asked him while sitting up and giving him his own glare.
“I’m sorry?” The Lieutenant asked, offended.
“You got a starin’ problem? Why you lookin’ at me and (Y/n) like that?” He challenged him.
“Alright, alright. Quit fighting, we’ve got news.” Webster said, breaking up the fight.
“Dummer, zimperlicher Junge, der dich so ansieht. (Stupid, prissy boy, lookin at you like that)” Joe mumbled to me in German, only loud enough for only me to hear.
“Er ist einfach sauer, weil du mich berührst und nicht er. (He's just mad because you're touching me and not him)” I said back laughing.
Me and Joe got up to go talk to a bunch of men in the corner laughing and smoking, while Webster and Jones went to talk to Malark. When Joe heard them talk about the patrol he pulled Web aside and I went and sat next to Babe to listen to what he was going to say.
“What do you know about this patrol thing?” Joe asked Web quietly.
“Uh, nothing.” Web said while nodding his head.
“Oh, come on, Web. You gotta know something.” Ramirez interrogated.
“I don’t” He replied adamantly
` “Bullshit.”
Web and everyone went back and forth and soon more people sat down to listen. I knew Web wouldn’t give anything up, so I decided to. My head was starting to hurt and I wanted to lay down before the patrol knowing I’d be on it at 0100.
“Speirs is picking fifteen men, Jonesy boy wants to be one of ‘em.” I said while yawning. Joe looked down at me and said,
“I say let the kid go, he could use the experience.” He smiled then Ramirez perked up,
“And I bet they could find fourteen other replacements to help him out.” while smirking.
“Nope.” I said, popping the p. “Babe, McClung, Ramirez and I are going out there.” I said dismissively.
“(Y/n)!” Web hissed at me.
“What?” I asked, confused. Then proceeded with,
“Pssh, I’ll just say it was you who said it, Joe and Babe’ll back me up, won’t you boys.” I asked, smiling up at Joe then at Babe.
“Course we will, doll.” Joe replied and Babe grunted. Webster deadpanned me and sat down when Malarkey started telling us about the patrol.
When the phone rang, and the PX supplies came in, I was ecstatic. New shoes and a shower? Felt like late Christmas. On our way out, the Krauts started to bomb us. We ran down the stairs and I threw myself under a table with Joe. When we had made it outside, we heard there was a casualty, Bill Kiehn. He was a Toccoa man. It was upsetting and it was unfair that he’d gotten through Bastogne only to die like this. I hadn’t known him too well, but the fact that I’d been talking to him 30 minutes prior made me feel like throwing up. Instead of staying to watch, me and the rest of the second platoon went over to the showers to pick up our new ODs.
Arriving at the showers, we went to go pick up our new ODs, and anything else they’d dropped for us. Nixon was standing by the depot and was holding a box with my name on it. Being the only woman paratrooper here meant I’d need a different size uniform and boots. I thanked Nixon and grabbed the box, opening it. Inside there was a uniform my size, boots, and women’s sanitary needs, a new bra set, and a few new pairs of panties.
“Well ain’t you a lucky gal, getting new undergarments while we’re stuck with the same briefs.” A voice came from behind me. Getting ready to yell at whoever was looking over my shoulder, I turned and realized it was Joe.
“Aww, poor baby has to wear the same briefs.” I replied, feigning upset and then laughing when I saw his disgruntled expression.
Before I could run off to take a much needed shower, Malarkey called for us to let us know who’d be going on the patrol.
Heffron, McClung, Ramirez, me, Liebgott, Grant, Wynn, Jackson, Shifty and Webster. When we heard how many second platoon men were going, you could practically feel the rage flowing from us.
We’d all been pissed, wanting to complain but knowing it’d do us no good. Malarkey went off towards the showers and told us to as well. There were men standing at the entrance, undressing and some coming out wet. I didn’t want to undress, even if it was only down to my bra and panties. I’d been behind Joe when I took my first few layers of my tops off. Down to my black bra and army-issued pants was when Webster came up to talk to Joe, effectively, scaring the shit out of me.
“Jesus, Web, you came outta nowhere.” I said, holding my hand to my chest to calm down.
“Oops, sorry (Y/n).” He said while rubbing the back of his neck nervously. I’d noticed his face had turned a bright shade of red, but I thought it was because he was embarrassed that he’d scared me. A hand shot out to grab my arm and turn me around when I noticed it was Joe.
“What’s the matter?” I asked curiously.
“Do you not see everyone lookin’ at you like they’re starving men looking at their last meal?” He asked bewildered. Suddenly, I became hyper aware of most of the men's eyes on me, waiting for me to finish undressing. Before I could respond Joe spoke up again.
“Nevermind that, just finish and we can go in together.” Quickly I went to undo my belt, and I realized Joe was already down to his briefs, waiting on me. I felt bad to make him wait, but he didn’t have to if he didn’t want to. I took this time to really look at Joe. Sure he was cute, and I’d definitely thought about him like this before, but would he really want me? I tried not to let my hopes get up, and as I slipped my pants down my legs, I forced myself to look away from his bare chest.
Having a hot shower was probably the best thing I’d had in a long time. Quickly scrubbing my body and hair down and then rinsing off, I stepped outside in a towel and grabbed my new uniform, and new undergarments.
Joe had finished showering, so I grabbed him by the arm and dragged him to a random building to change, and do my hair. When we got in, there was nobody there, probably all in the showers, so I took Joe to the first mirror I found in a bedroom and made him sit down. He had no obligations and I told him I’d be back after changing. Once I finished, I brought out my old undergarments and towel and hung them out to dry.
There was a vanity on the opposite side of a bed, with a little cushion seat, and some old, dusty hair products. I quickly got to work using them and braiding up my hair.
“Why’d you pull me away doll? Want me that bad huh?” He questioned while smirking at me and drawing a cigarette from his front pocket.
“Yeah, you wish. I wanted someone to talk to.” I joked back before replying honestly and looking at him through the mirror. I finished doing my last braid as Joe was telling me about one of his comics he found that he enjoyed. Standing up, I walked over to stand in front of him, looking down on him as he was sitting on the bed. He stopped talking and we made eye contact. He looked as handsome as ever sitting in his new ODs, with a fresh shower.
“Well don’t you look handsome in your new uniform with your hair combed.” I said to him in a sweet voice running my hands through his wet hair. His eyes darkened as his hands went to hold onto my hips.
“Jesus, (Y/n). We’ve been through hell and back and you’re still the most gorgeous woman I’d ever seen.” He said confidently. I could feel my face getting hot, he’d said things like this before, but this time, it felt different. Stronger almost.
“Oh, Joe. You’re the most handsome man I’ve ever met.” I whispered to him, and he looked up at my lips, silently asking me. I slowly closed my eyes and let my hands fall from his hair down to his face, I slowly leaned down as he looked up and closed my eyes. As our lips were less than a centimeter apart, someone awkwardly coughed.
We sprung away from each other, embarrassed that we got caught. Looking at who it was, some random replacement apologized and said he left something in here and it was his room.
When he left, I started laughing and grabbed Joe by the arm to pull him up.
“Come on, I bet everyone is wondering where we went.”
“Goddammit Johnny, you’re breaking my heart.” Luz said.
“Come on, George, just give me, I don’t know, ten, fifteen bars?” Martin pressured him
“Juicy fruit, happy?”
Johnny and Cobb had been pestering George to give them Hershey bars. I knew there wasn’t enough, and that it wasn’t fair so I just stayed quiet the whole time. Cobb began badgering George again and when George went to defend himself, a whole group of men walked in.
“Whoa, Hershey bars!” Joe exclaimed, coming up behind me to rest his hands on my shoulders from where I was sitting in front of the table of candy and treats.
“Jesus Christ.” Poor George just couldn’t catch a break.
“Wait your turn, Liebgott.” Cobb said, pissing me off. I never really liked Cobb and he didn’t like me.
“Yeah, who they for?” Liebgott asked George.
“Not you, Lieb.”
“Oh come on George, one bar!” Joe pestered, wanting to get that bar.
“Y’know who they’re for? People who don’t interrogate me. Here, (Y/n), have a bar!” George replied while looking Joe in the eye.
“Oh George! Thank you!” I exclaimed excitedly. I hadn’t known the last time I’d gotten chocolate.
“Christ, you’re only giving it to her because she’s a woman and you wanna get on her good side in case the opportunity arises to fuck her!” Cobb said angrily as I turned around, glaring, ready to hit him.
“That sounds more like something you’d do, knowing you couldn’t get a woman to sleep with you willingly if your life depended on it!” I yelled back at him which caused him to call me a slur of colorful words. After that, Joe yelled at him and I ignored him.
“Hey big mouth! Give Lieb a Hershey bar, huh?” Perconte asked.
When I heard his voice, I jumped up, running up to him to give him a hug.
“Perco! Your back!” I exclaimed as he hugged me back.
“You gotta be shittin’ me! Look who it is!” George laughed and said.
“How ya feeling?” Joe then asked him, smiling.
“As long as you keep your hands off my ass, I’ll be fine.” Perconte replied, laughing.
“Have a Hershey’s!” Luz threw one at Perconte.
“Hey he gets a fuckin Hershey bar?” Joe asked, offended as I came to sit down next to him, opening up my Hershey’s.
“Ask ya girlfriend to french ya when she’s done eating it.” George joked as I took a bite into my bar and broke it in half.
“I’ll do you one better, Joe.” I said after I swallowed and handed him the half I didn’t bite into. He took it with thanks.
“That’s not one better, he’d rather you kiss him (L/n)!” Luz said while laughing right after. Joe pushed him backwards while also laughing
At 1700, there was a briefing about the house we’d be going into. I was next to Shifty, talking with him. Every now and again me and Joe would make eye contact, until the other looked away. Winters, and Martin walked in which caused Joe to look away first. Winters explained Johnny would be going in Malarkey's place, and that made everyone slightly more comfortable. I was on Johnny’s team, along with Webster. I walked out and Liebgott was waiting for me, he left with me and as we passed Speirs, he told Joe he didn’t have to go on the patrol.
We’d been all stationed in the basement for now before the patrol. Having to eat slop and we couldn’t have our helmets. I sat with Shifty as I ate.
“Youse gonna be out there with a gun?” Shifty asked me in a sweet voice, I knew what he was talking about. He was asking if I’d be helping shoot.
“Nah, well obviously I’ll have a gun, but I’m mainly a translator.” I smiled at him and he smiled back.
“I don’ understand why they never let you shoot with me. You’re a helluva sniper.” Shifty told me, making me giggle at him.
“Oh Shift, you know how to make a woman feel good about herself.” I replied, happy that I got to talk to him before the patrol. He always knew how to make someone happy, even during nerve-wracking times.
At 0100, we were getting into those rubber boats, and setting sail on a short trip across the river. Before the fourth boat could even get far, it flipped and we were down three men. I wasn’t too nervous, knowing that I’d been through worse. When we got to the other side, Martin had someone cut the fence and me and Web, being translators, meant that we had to be up front in case we found any Germans.
So far, we’d gotten up to the steps of the house we’d need to get prisoners from. Johnny had shot into the window, and Jackson went up to throw his grenade, except, instead of waiting for it to finish detonating, Jackson didn’t stop and immediately went into the house, getting hit straight in the face with his grenade. As we ran in, me and Web were yelling at the men in German. We started to split the three men up when I heard a small cry in the corner of the room. I stopped to turn to go towards the sound.
“(L/n)! What are you doing?” Johnny yelled at me.
“Sir! There’s a child!” I shouted, confused. When I got down eye level with the little girl, I noticed she was only in a thin, white nightgown, with no shoes. She looked malnourished, hurt and mostly scared.
“Alsjeblieft! Alsjeblieft! (Please! Please!)” The little girl cried in Dutch, shrinking away from me when I went to get her.
“Het is goed schat! Rustig maar, ik ben hier om te helpen! (Its okay dear! Relax, I'm here to help!)” I replied to her in Dutch. What had a little Dutch girl been doing here? I didn’t have time to continue to calm the little girl before Johnny started yelling about getting on the boats and leaving.
“Klein meisje, ik ga je ophalen. (Little girl, I'm going to pick you up.)” I warned her before grabbing her bridal style and running with her out of the house and covering her eyes to make sure she didn’t see what was happening around her with Jackson. Pushing everyone into the boats, the girl I was holding onto kept crying and crying. The poor little girl couldn’t have been more than four years old.
“Het is goed schat. Het is goed schat. (It’s alright baby. It’s alright baby.)” I kept repeating to the small frightened girl. When Webster jumped into the boat behind me, we started going back to our side. He had his head ducked, as the Krauts kept shooting at the back boat. He had his arms around me when he realized I was shielding a child.
“(Y/n)! What the hell? Why do you have a child?” He yelled out over the gun fire.
“I don’t know! She was in the corner, she’s Dutch!” I replied, still confused as to how she got here and why she wasn’t in the Netherlands. We all ran downstairs, I was still holding onto the little girl, she had come from the Germans territory so I had to stay with her by the other prisoners. Nobody had come up to me about the girl yet so I took this as a time to try to get information so she wasn’t bombarded when adrenaline wore off.
“Wat is je naam? (What’s your name?)” I asked her calmly. She looked up at me with teary dark blue eyes. “Tineke.” She responded in a quiet voice. I was sitting on the floor and I held her so she was only facing me. I could feel someone watching me, but for now I didn’t care.
“Mooie naam! De mijne is (Y/n)! (Beautiful name! Mine is (Y/n)!)” I replied while smiling at her and gently carding my hand through her dark brown strands. Her skin was deathly pale and it was obvious she hadn’t drank or eaten anything in a long time. I gave her my canteen and she took it wearily. She wouldn’t drink it because she was scared of what could be in it. I took it back and took a small sip and gave it back. When she noticed I was okay, she started drinking out of it rapidly.
When she finished drinking, I asked her more questions.
“Spreek je Engels? (Can you speak English?)” I asked her. “Little bit.” She replied hesitantly.
“Very good, mijn liefje! (My love!)” She seemed to smile a little at the name I’d given her.
“Where is your mommy?” I asked slowly. She started to get upset at the mention of her mother but she replied anyway.
“She die. The Duits kill her. I am Joods. They take her and kill my mammie in de camps for Jodens. Then they keep me. (The Germans kill her. I am Jewish. My mommy. Camps for Jews.)” She told me in a somber tone. When she couldn’t think of the right word, she’d just say it in Dutch. I thought about bringing her to Joe later knowing he was Jewish, she might feel comfortable with him.
“You’re safe now, liefje.” I told her while bringing her close to my chest. She ended up falling asleep not even ten minutes later. It gave me time to think about what she had said. She never mentioned a last name which made me believe she didn’t know it. The camp she was talking about was also weird. What did she mean by a camp for Jewish people?
Jackson had died. That boy who’d just turned twenty, had died. He had his whole life ahead and he died in a stupid war. I hadn’t even known him too well, but he just died in front of me, in front of everyone. I was thankful Tineke was asleep as she’d already seen enough.
A day had passed since the patrol. The Germans were taken away and Tineke wouldn’t talk to anyone except me, and occasionally Joe. When Winters had found out about her, he had to ask her questions. I had come with because she couldn’t speak English very well and she refused to go anywhere if I wasn’t with her. The poor girl had been traumatized and it seemed like she’d been like that for a while.
While asking her questions, we found out her family was Jewish, and when the Germans found out, they took her and her family out of their homes to be sent to a camp. She didn’t know much, just that her mother and her got away and when they were found by the two Germans, her mother tried to fight against them resulting in her getting shot. Tineke was then taken as a hostage.
Doc Roe came in to see how she was and it turned out she had been malnourished, and if I hadn’t found her when I did she would’ve been dead. Later that day I took her to the building where the second platoon was located to introduce her.
I walked in and held onto Tine and went upstairs.
“Guys, this is Tineke. She was found in the house with the other POWs and she’s Dutch. She can speak some English, but don’t bombard her.” I spoke when I went upstairs and saw everyone. They all looked at us, and one by one I walked around with her and had her say hi to everyone. When I got to the last person, Joe, I sat down on the bunk with him and had her greet him.
“Tine, why don’t you tell Joe what you are.” I reminded her. I had told her to tell him she was Jewish before we went upstairs.
“Jewish.” Was all she said, nervous and not knowing too much English, she turned her face away into my chest. I rubbed my hand down her knotted, dirty hair realizing she needed a bath.
“Ain’t that cool! I’m Jewish too!” Joe responded in a sweet voice, smiling down at her when she slightly turned her head towards him. Before any more words could get exchanged, Webster came in to break the news that we were to go on another patrol that night and there would be another meeting at 1800. It was currently 1530 so I decided to bring Tineke down to the kitchen sink where I could give her a makeshift bath. I remembered how my mom would do that for me and my siblings when we were little and there were no baths in any of the houses.
I grabbed some soap and put it in her hair while I’d tell her stories to pass the time.
“A long time ago, there were two moons. It was said one of them, named houden got too close to the sun, and out came thousands of dragons.” I told her a story my mother used to tell me all the time.
“Houden? To hold?” She asked as I began rinsing out her hair.
“That’s right. That’s how dragons were born.” I told her. As I finished saying that, another voice piped up from behind me.
“I didn’t know dragons were born from the moon.” Joe came up behind me and waved at Tineke, who brought her hand up slightly.
“That’s because I never told you that.” I said while smiling up at him. He moved to have his arms around my waist and laid his head on my shoulder. I finished rinsing Tine off then I grabbed a towel and wrapped her in it. Nixon had got clothes small enough to fit her from one of his sources. It was a small, black dress with a dark brown fluffy shawl. She also had stockings and tiny boots. When I finished dressing her, I braided up her hair and put on a hat.
At 1800 we all went down to the basement to await Winter’s meeting he called.
“Whatcha lookin’ at Webster.” A drunk Cobb said. I put one of my hands on Web’s shoulder, holding Tineke to my chest as she slept on me, and he turned to give me a smile.
“That’s what I thought, college boy.” Cobb said while swaying lightly on his feet. I gave Cobb a glare and squeezed the hand I had on Web’s shoulder.
“Are you drunk, trooper?” Lieutenant Jones asked him, angrily.
“Leave me alone.” Cobb replied, looking away.
“Answer the question.” Jones said firmly.
“Yes, sir, I am drunk, sir.” Cobb said sassily before adding, “Drunk, and sick and tired of fucking patrols. Taking orders-”
“Hey Cobb, shut up. It’s boring, okay.” Martin cut him off before he could finish what he was saying.
“Taking his side, Johnny?” “Yeah, I am.”
After that shit show I went and sat by Joe, wanting to make sure I wouldn’t be in Cobb’s line of fire in case he decided to throw something.
Winters came in to not only tell us that we didn’t have to go on that patrol, but that we’d also be off the line tomorrow. After he left, everyone started talking, which woke up Tine, who had no idea what was going on, but was happy because everyone else was.
When I went upstairs, Winters was waiting for me.
“Hey, (Y/n).” He said, a bittersweet tone to his voice.
“Hello, sir. Anything I can help you with?” I asked, slightly nervous that he had waited for me.
“It turns out, we found one of Tineke’s family members. Her aunt and uncle. They’re set to come tonight.” He said quietly.
“Oh. Well that’s great!” I smiled slightly, feeling my heart get heavy at the fact that the young girl would be leaving.
“Tine, you hear that? Your aunt and uncle are coming to pick you up.” I told her, looking down at her. She perked up, looking between me and Winters and then she smiled. She smiled bigger than I’d ever seen her smile.
When her aunt and uncle arrived at 2100, Tineke ran up to them and they picked her up. They repeatedly thanked me and Winters and before they left, I gave Tineke a hug and kiss and turned around to walk away. As I did that, I noticed Joe was standing there waiting for me, smiling sweetly at me. We walked away, arm in arm to go back to the house together. The next day, we’d all been sent to the trucks to move to our new location. I was sitting next to Joe, my head on his shoulder as I slept.
We had made it to Germany. The Krauts surrendered and Hitler shot himself. We were finally able to stay in an actual house, with actual baths and actual beds. To us, life couldn’t get any better.
Me and Joe had been sharing a house with Perco and Luz. Frank and George went out to get eggs from a farmhouse a few blocks down so right now it was just me and Joe.
“You excited, doll?” He asked me from the table. I put down one of the wet dishes I was washing, and replied,
“For what Lieb?” “We got through the hard part!” Oh. I hadn’t really thought about that yet.
“Well, yeah, I guess. I’m just scared that I’ll have to go to the Pacific if this war finishes soon.” I replied genuinely.
“Oh don’t worry about that right now.” He said while standing up and coming behind me. I put down the last dish and pulled off the wet, yellow gloves I had on to wash the dishes in.
“Y’know, Perco and Luz just left.”
“I know Liebgott, I’ve got eyes.” I replied, smiling up at him while turning around to face him. He put his hands on the sink behind me and smiled down on me.
“Well if your eyes are any good, then you’ll be able to see how much of a hold ya got on me.” He spoke before closing the distance between us and closing the gap.
I immediately closed my eyes and kissed him back. We slowly pulled apart, and without another word he slammed his mouth into mine. This time, he was much more passionate. His hands wandered down to my waist, and mine went up to his neck and hair. I gasped as he bit my bottom lip, and he snuck his tongue into my mouth. I kissed him back with as much fervor as I could, slightly pulling on his hair without realizing. He moaned into my mouth and the vibrations caused heat to pool in my stomach.
His hands started to roam down my body, causing me to moan as well. He pulled me flush against him and then pulled me up the stairs into one of the rooms I was occupying. I gently sat down on the bed and his fingers went to my uniform top, unbuttoning my shirt.
Perconte and Luz were walking down the trail to the house they were sharing with (Y/n) and Joe, they had eggs to cook up for everyone. When they got inside, they expected to see (Y/n) and Joe downstairs, waiting for them like they had been before.
“Hey, where’d they go-”
“D’you hear that?” George cut Frank off when he heard what sounded like muffled banging from upstairs. The two men immediately smirked at each other, and Luz ran upstairs.
They stopped outside of the door getting ready to knock, when they heard moaning from the other side.
Before Frank could hold George back, he knocked on the door yelling,
“You two better hurry up before me and Perco eat all the eggs!” It was quiet for a moment before Joe shouted out towards the two men,
“Go ahead! I’m eating something way better!”
IM SO SORRY THIS IS SO LONG! If I missed any TWs lmk and I'll add them!

Taglist: @executethyself35 @linhkhanhcps @1waveshortofashipwreck @grumpy-liebgott @barbeygirl @samwinchesterslostshoe @ronsenthal @sweetxvanixlla @mstiemountainhop @imaginethatneathuh @goodluckbabeheffron @resting-distressed-face @bossboudicca (If you want to be on this list, let me know!! :))
BoB masterlist
Dick Winters: Oh wow, this guy is usually pretty good about keeping himself composed in overwhelming situations, but it’s almost impossible for him to keep his chill when he sees you in that costume for the first time, he’s at a total loss of words. He thinks you look amazing. His face gets so red, it’s adorable. He would be at every one of the games cheering you on, being the most supportive husband ever. He would pack your lunch and make sure you’re ready for every practice/game.
Lewis Nixon: This man is just WAITING for you to ask him to be your personal assistant. If the moment ever presents itself, he's definitely telling everyone that you're a cheerleader for the Cowboys. I feel like he’d be the type to take a tonnnn of pics of you every single game (he’s giving soccer mom vibes.) I feel like he’d also be one of those husbands who collect a lot of your merch?? He’s also very obnoxiously cheering you on every single game lmao.
Carwood Lipton: This guy is the best support system EVER!!! He’s at every game, watching you attentively, cheering you on. And at the end of each game, he’s waiting for you and congratulating you on how well you did. He thinks he is the luckiest man in the world, he honestly doesn’t know how he got you at all. I feel like before each game he’d definitely send you off with sweet little notes of affirmation to hype you up.
Joe Toye: Oh boy, when I tell you that Joe becomes insufferable about the fact that HIS girlfriend is a Dalla Cowboy Cheerleader, I mean it. He’s bringing it up anytime he can, literally just wants to brag to all of his friends about you 24/7. Whenever this guy sees you in your cheerleading outfit though is when he really loses it. He would be in a complete trance the entire game watching you dance in very little clothing, he also temporarily becomes a Cowboys fan just for you.
Joe Liebgott: If this guy wasn’t already down bad for you before, he definitely is now. When he sees you in your uniform he loses his mind for a second. To put it to you simply, he is obsessed. He’s got plenty of photos that he’s showing just about EVERYONE when he gets the chance. From now on, absolutely no one can give him shit about anything because his gf is a dallas cowboy cheerleader. You can always look in the crowd to see him cheering you on loudly.
Bill Guarnere: Like Toye, he’ll temporarily become a Cowboys fan for you, but don’t let it fool you, if you guys are playing against the Eagles he’s gonna be decked out in their merch. He will tell you that the best thing about dating a professional cheerleader is getting to go to all of the football games, but don’t listen to him because he’s more than obsessed with you. At the games if another guy in the crowd tries staring at you he’d be kicked out for trying to fight the guy. “Gotta starin’ problem, pal?”
George Luz: This sweet babe makes being your boyfriend his entire personality trait. Like on every single profile his bio is probably “y/n’s boyfriend” or “I love my girlfriend.” Like a lot of the others, he’s also telling the whole world about you when he gets the chance. He thinks he is the luckiest guy ever, when he sees you in your uniform his smile gets so big it's adorable. Like Nix, he also gives off soccer mom vibes. Making sure you’re well fed before each of the games, laying out your clothes, he’ll go the whole 9 yards just to see you smile!
Moe Alley: Oh man, he looks like a kid in a candy store seeing you out there dancing for the first time. He’d be there with a camera being your own personal photographer. To him it’s the best deal ever, getting to see you perform and watch all of the cowboys home games?? He’s such a simp for you it’s hilarious, like this man is scrubbing the floors, cooking you all kinds of treats, spoiling you with gifts, absolutely anything because this man is OBSESSED with you.
Eugene Roe: I would be lying if I said he didn’t get nervous every time he saw you dancing. (or really doing anything if we’re being completely honest.) He has the sweetest face while watching you do what you love. I would say he’s the most supportive out of all the guys. He just wants you to be the happiest girl in the world :) He might get a little shy cheering you on sometimes, but he’ll always be there watching you with a smile on his face
Floyd Talbert: Oh you’re a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader? Oh that’s hilarious you say that because his clothes just magically disappeared when you told him. To put it simply, he’s a total slut for you. Every time he sees you in the outfit he can’t control himself. He’s cheering as loud as can be, reminding everyone in the stands that you’re his girl. He can’t help himself but to stare at you the entire game. In the end he’s absolutely crazy about you and the uniform just fuels it even more lmao
Bull Randleman: He absolutely loves it. He goes all out in supporting you of course. I feel like he’d be the type to bring his entire friend group to the game just because he needs more people to help cheer you on. When he sees you in your uniform for the first time, he’s most likely drooling on himself. Like most of the others, he turns into a complete simp watching you do practically anything. During the games he’s decked out in the corniest cowboy gear you’ll find. Before the games he’d send you sweet goodluck messages too ;)
Skip Muck: He’s at a loss of words. He finds you absolutely breathtaking. “How in the world did I ever catch you?” He finds it so interesting that you take on such a complex hobby, and even more interesting that you participate in it at such a high level. He's definitely setting up posters of you all over his room like a schoolboy who just hit puberty. Honestly, this man makes being your partner a part of his personality trait. Every game he’d be cheering you on so loud, completely fangirling.
Don Malarkey: This guy is also going to be fangirling so much lmao. He’s gonna let everyone that sits beside him at the game know that you're his partner. “You see her? Yeah that’s my girl.” He’s so proud watching you go. To you, you look like a complete goddess, he can’t help but stare in awe the entire game. After every game he’d be waiting for you with flowers and food to congratulate you on your great performance.
Babe Heffron: He’s drooling at the mouth seeing you perform for the first time. He’s a complete whore for you. He’s probably got some huge camera with him, filming you dancing for the majority of the game lmao. During auditions and tryouts this man is making sure you are completely prepared. Packing you the best lunches, making sure you have all of your stuff ready and packed. He'll do almost anything to make you happy. He’s a total simp for you, it's adorable haha.
Shifty Powers: He’s probably the sweetest of the guys, along with gene. He’s in heaven. He thinks it’s amazing how talented you are. Before every game he’s wishing you the best of luck and after every game he’s waiting for you with a bouquet and a bag of your favorite snacks. “Oh boy, you did great out there, I wish I could watch it again.” He’s in absolute awe every time he sees you dance. Not to mention how he thinks you look absolutely STUNNING in your uniform.
Frank Perconte: Frank thinks it’s brilliant how graceful you are out there. I mean, how many other guys can say that their girl is a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader? Whenever you are dancing he’ll be there watching, and obnoxiously cheering you on, to the point where the others around him actually get irritated. The first time he saw you in your uniform he was close to fainting (let’s just say he was VERY excited lmao) He’s always happy to see his girl do good on the field.
Ron Speirs: This is the only time you’ll probably ever see this man crack into a full smile, when you’re out there in little to no clothing, dancing your ass off. He can’t stop watching. He’ll always find himself stuck when you ask him why he was staring so intensely during the game, (this might sound super weird but let me tell you this man wants you to full on lap dance on him with your outfit on) Good thing you’re a cheerleader bc he knows exactly what you guys are gonna be for halloween!!
Johnny Martin: He tries his hardest to seem unfazed by the whole cheerleader thing (this guy tries being so nonchalant it KILLS me.) Secretly on the inside though, little 12 year old him is fangirling like there’s no tomorrow. His facial expression might hide how he’s feeling when he sees you in your uniform for the first time, but let me tell you his ears and cheeks are blood red. After every game he’ll walk over to you like a proud father and give you his daily words of affirmation with of course, a pat on the back to go along with it.
Skinny Sisk: To him, it’s a total dream come true, a complete blessing to him. Getting to watch you go out there in little to no clothing, and dance like the pro you are, FOR FREE is insane to him. He thinks you’re a total vixen. I think during the season he gets pretty protective over you. He’s heard things about other men taking inappropriate pictures of the cheerleaders without their knowledge so he’s always looking out for that kinda stuff. (Also if Judy and Kelly are being bitches to you, he will be HAPPY to burn their house down for you.)
Chuck Grant: He has SO much respect for you it actually makes my heart melt. I feel like he’s also seen and heard things about just some of the stuff you girls have to go through just about everyday with constant competition around you 24/7. He’s gonna cheer you on no matter what. Hell, he might just be the loudest guy in the whole damn stadium. He’s so supportive though, just know you’ll feel it every time he’s watching you out there :)
David Webster: I have this super cute thought in my head that you guys met during an interview, where Web (some journalist writing on the DCC) is asking you (a DCC) for all the inside scoops for his next piece. From then on you guys would be inseparable. He’d be at all the games watching you with so much interest and enthusiasm. I think he’d actually kind of enjoy the environment during the game. Give him some popcorn and he wouldn’t mind a bit.
Buck Compton: Oh he loves it! Of course we all know this man LOVES football, and he most definitely loves you, so seeing both at the same place at the same time is like his dream come true lol. He’d probably be out there every game with one of those huge face posters of just you. He thinks you are more than talented and honestly so proud to have a girl like you. Like Ron, he’s definitely gonna pick a DCC and a DCF as y’all’s halloween costume just about every year.
Thank you again for reading! I hope you enjoyed! Make sure to help a writer out and like or reblog if you’d like! 🤍💗

Joe didn't sleep a wink. How could he? He was in his bed, in his clothes still, and your behind was pressed up against his front.
All night he'd laid awake. Listened to you. Smelt you. Felt you. Around the 4AM mark, he'd built up enough courage to let his fingertips stroke the skin he could see in front of him, drawing shapes and writing words he was too scared to vocalise.
Pretty.
Sweet.
Hot.
Across your shoulders, down your arms, the back of your neck. He got to freely feel and gently caress, hidden in the dark of night. He only stopped when you hummed too loudly, made a noise that said, yes, more. Joe retracted, silently said, I'm sorry, I shouldn't, and held his breath in fear of you waking up from his touch.
It took everything inside him not to move forward just an inch and let his cupid's bow, that little sensitive ridge above his top lip, rub the soft skin at the base of your neck.
The last time he checked the time, it was close to 5:30. He didn't remember falling asleep - do people ever? - but he couldn't have been asleep for much more than an hour when you rudely awoke him by throwing your body sideways over his. Soft stomach to soft stomach.
Bread.
Joe had to pull strength up from his toes to pretend to be asleep still, as you stayed like that, draped across his torso, slowly eating the bread he'd left out on his bedside table for you.
It was one thing to hear you chew and swallow. It was a whole other thing to feel it in his own gut.
The glass of water followed, and thank the fucking lord, soon after you crawled back to what had now become your side of his bed.
Shit.
That side would now forever be your side of Joe's bed. It didn't matter who else was ever going to be sleeping in it, his bed was now divided in your side and his side.
The hangover was a real one, and after taking a dazed second to yourself, sat up in Joe's bed and looking around the room, you decided you couldn't be in bed any longer.
You needed to sit under a cold shower. Or lay with your cheek on a cool toilet seat. Spray your face with ice water and then go exist in front of an aircon unit for a minute.
Joe felt you move towards the foot of the bed before the mattress leveled out, signaling you'd gotten out completely. Soft footsteps left his bedroom. Joe heard a door open, then shut immediately. Then another. More footsteps, but now coming back, and Joe lifted his head, squinting through an eye to gather what was going on. You were stood in front of Joe's bedroom door, out on the landing, and seemed... lost. Clearly out of it, still. Purely surviving.
"Where's your-" it came out all hoarse, so you cleared your throat, got rid of the raspiness and looked at Joe. "Where's your bathroom?" voice still just as croaky.
Joe let his head fall back into the pillow and just pointed.
You spent far too long in the bathroom for Joe's liking. It gave him way too much time to think about how this morning was going to go. Too much time to go back and forth between what he thought he should do. For now, he was still very tired, wanted to remain in bed in desperate need of more sleep, but he was also very aware that the polite thing to do was to at least offer you breakfast. To go downstairs with you once you were done doing... whatever you were doing in there. The tap of his sink had been going for a while.
It was because you were busy with the very necessary task of letting cool water run over your face sideways, sometimes sucking in enough water to swallow a good moutful. You know, total normal people behaviour.
It had gotten to the point where Joe thought he should at least get out of bed and get into a pair of joggers and a T-shirt. To appear a little more presentable, even though he desperately wanted to get into a shower first. However, his thoughts were interrupted when your phone started ringing. Joe looked, and saw your opened bag still on the floor next to him. He could see how your phone lit up the inside of it.
You'd heard it too, and came rushing in.
"Morning," you smiled through squinty eyes, all self-deprecatingly, holding a towel that you used to dry your face and how the fuck were you still this wildly gorgeous?
"Nice bedhead," you pointed out from your crouched position next to the bed, finding your phone and turning on your heel and making your way back over to Joe's bathroom as you answered.
It made Joe raise an insecure hand into his loose curls, doing his best to push them back into place, where they'd usually sit.
You left the towel there, on the floor, and Joe saw how your make-up had left behind the same coloured stains as were on the sleeve of his shirt, still. Not as prominent, but definitely there. It felt like you were leaving your mark to advertise your presence, claiming your territory and Joe thought, yea that's right, you might as well, though no need, because it was already all yours anyway, wasn't it?
"Hey,"
You answered, and spoke so flatly, Joe guessed it was Mark calling.
"Yea, big one,"
You'd left the bathroom door open this time, and using context clues, Joe thought you'd just been asked if you had a hangover.
"Not much– I think I remember enough to know I'm an awful person,"
Joe eavesdropped.
"Except, I am an awful person,"
The tap turned on again, and Joe heard you take sips. Good, he thought. Rehydrate.
"Okay, thanks, but I kind of still am, though,"
"Let's agree to disagree, then. Is Poppy mad at me?"
"Oh, that's good."
"Yea, lunch is fine, can we go and get burgers or something?"
Joe couldn't help but grin to himself. This was exactly how apologies worked with him and Poppy as well. They were always strange sort of non-apologies, where you both vaguely acknowledged something and quickly moved on. Sometimes Poppy and Joe could be livid with each other, and not speak for a few days besides passive aggressive texts back and forth, and then, suddenly, skies would clear up and Joe'd ask if Poppy wanted to come with to some event, and she'd reply, asking what the dress code was and everything would be forgotten and forgiven.
"Noon's a little soon, gotta give me some time to pull myself together,"
"No,"
"Yea, that should be fine,"
"All right,"
You were rounding off your chat, and Joe realised you hadn't mentioned you were over at his place. Not once. Not even slightly hinted towards it a little.
Maybe you didn't want Mark to know.
Oh fuck, Joe'd done the wrong thing by bringing you over to his house, hadn't he?
Of course you didn't want Mark to know.
The sudden rush of panic made Joe finally get up and out of bed.
Quick. Get out of these clothes.
No, wait. Apologise first.
Fuck.
God, you'd woken up in a bed with Joe, probably not even properly remembering how you'd gotten there and obviously, Joe was an awful person. A terrible friend. What the fuck must you be thinking of him right now?! Joe should at least–
"Sorry,"
Joe was stood in front of his wardrobe, both hands on the doorknobs, internally screaming at himself, when suddenly you interrupted the silence from the doorway.
"No, it's–... no worries," Joe shook his head, frowning a little.
"For the mess," you gestured at your own forearm, making Joe look at his own. "I would offer to pay for the dry cleaning, but it'll come out fine in a regular wash, I promise,"
Joe gave a small, crooked smile. The careful kind.
"And, sorry for ruining the wedding shower too, I got way too–"
"I said, no worries,"
He tried. He tried so hard not to make this moment awkward for you. To have it be somewhat normal. Casual. Like he didn't currently actively hate himself for the choices he had made on your behalf.
"Well," you stepped inside, got closer and then picked up your bag from the floor, along with your shoes. "At least let me say sorry for hogging your bathroom for ages then,"
With both hands on the doorknobs of his wardrobe still, Joe's eyes followed you moving around his bedroom like a hawk.
You grinned at his silence.
Deep breaths, Joe.
"All right, I'll get out of your hair," you said, stopping in his doorway and turning back to look at him, jokingly adding, "Because it clearly needs a wash."
Oh. So, you weren't going to mention it, Joe thought.
"Do you want some– I could make you some breakf–" Joe started, but you winced at the mention of food, clearly nauseous still.
"That's all right, I'll find my way out,"
You really weren't going to mention it at all, were you? Waking up in Joe's house. In his bed. Laying on top of him for a second there... it just... it hung in the air between the two of you. It got no acknowledgement from you whatsoever. Well... Joe wasn't going to be the one to mention it either, so who was he to talk, really.
"I'll see you, um," you squeezed your eyes tightly shut for a second, "When's the stag do?"
"In two weeks,"
"I'll see you in two weeks,"
And with a little wave from the top steps of the stairs as you made your way down, you disappeared completely from Joe's view.
Joe forced himself not to wait and listen til you'd close his front door behind you, and instead took insisting steps into his bathroom where he hoped he could wash all this nervous energy down the drain. Scrub himself free of the embarrassment of you not telling Mark you'd slept in his bed. With him, no less.
Now there was a secret between the two of you.
Another secret Joe was going to have to keep from Poppy.
Awful. He was an awful friend.
But if you wanted this to stay between the two of you, Joe was going to respect that, and he would absolutely keep this a secret. Joe could hate himself for what he did and not talk about it to anyone, sure. No problem.
And that was that. Decided. Done.
About thirty minutes later, Joe stepped into his own kitchen, freshly showered, and hungry, and he found an empty yoghurt carton along with a dirty spoon on the side.
Grinning to himself, he traced your steps, found more evidence of you in the empty glass that had been placed in the sink, and, looking back into his hallway, the doormat that had slid out of place.
As Joe went to move it back into its correct spot, perfectly centered in front of the threshold, he was hit with a realisation that knocked the breath right out of him.
On your way out, you must have seen it. Can't have not noticed it. You had noticed it before, and had had it on your mind enough to mention it days after having seen it. There was no way that you hadn't seen that Joe's hallway no longer held the framed cropped photograph of himself and Poppy.
It hadn't even been replaced, he'd just... taken it down the night you had mentioned it and hadn't known what to put in its place.
Joe sighed, realising it was yet another thing he hadn't told Poppy about.
So, three secrets, then. Fine.
The weekend of the stag do came around quickly. The hen do happened simultaneously, and because Poppy had been sad over the fact that she hadn't been able to have you as one of her guests, you'd all decided to finish the night at the same bar. To meet up and 'round off together.
You'd have all of your separate fun, make Mark and Poppy dress up at least a little stupid - Mark was forced into a foam costume of a beer bottle, Poppy just got given a tiara that read Bride To Be - and would make them take belly shots off of strangers before eventually meeting up and having them do a belly shot off of each other.
Maybe not exclusively belly shots. You were sure you'd come up with more creative ways of drinking hard liquor. But shots, none the less. And whoever got most in, would win, and Poppy was hell-bent on winning.
"I'm going to get so drunk," she'd almost said it like it was a threat when Joe came to pick her up that afternoon.
"Oh yea?" Mark had been far too cool about it for Poppy's liking.
"There's not a chance you'll do more shots than me,"
"We'll see,"
And you did see.
It was just past 11 when your group of drunk men followed you into a basement bar after a long pub treasure hunt. You were met with shrieking girls, a very drunk Poppy, and a fairly sober looking Joe.
"Twenty-one!" Poppy shouted, her tiara all tangled up in her hair whilst she held up a bunch fingers that didn't mean anything.
"Shut up," you laughed, reached up to fix her hair a little, "You did not have twenty-one shots,"
"Twenty-seven if you count all the ones I dropped or spat out, too,"
You looked at Joe who smiled at you and shrugged as if to say, she did it. Mark had gotten maybe nine in, you'd lost count if you were honest, and his brain could barely remember his body had two feet down at the end of his legs.
Mark was drunk drunk. The beer bottle costume had been torn to shreds, and was now just a brown weird cropped vest over his clothes. Like an odd lifejacket created by a fashion student.
"Congratulations then," you squeezed Poppy's cheeks as she smiled, but got quickly pushed to the side by Mark who attached himself to Poppy's face, diving in tongue first.
"Yea, all right, that's fine," you scrunched your nose up at the sight and made your way over to the bar to get beers for the lads. Joe joined you.
"Half of those were water, but don't tell her," Joe said over the music. "She'll be devastated."
"Still more than Mark," you laughed. "She's a fair winner."
You both looked back at them as they ate each other's faces.
"What a couple," you jokingly said.
"Very romantic, this," Joe agreed, and you both laughed a little.
You'd just had enough alcohol to be sort of all right and normal around each other. Not drunk enough for Joe to not be hyper aware of the fact that when he'd last seen you, you'd slept over at his place. But, he could pretend not to think it was a big deal.
It was a secret, after all. Had to keep it that way.
You got an order in with a bartender for nine pints, and you took a moment to yourself to feel satisfied with the evening. To feel proud of yourself. Everything had gone exactly according to plan; all the guys that had been invited had shown up on time, Mark's brother was gracious and didn't make any spiteful jokes about him not being the best man, and everyone was having actual fun? And that on a stag do thrown by a woman? What a wild concept.
You started passing out lager, calling names over the music and handing over pints, when suddenly a random dude pretended to be part of your group and jokingly reached for a beer you were about to give to someone else. It made you laugh, give him a face as you avoided his hand, and before you knew it, you had him slurring unintelligible things into your ear.
Drunk men were like this. Predictable like toddlers. The antics of a child.
You kind of let him talk, and tried to decipher whatever he was saying. Tried to find an excuse or joke hidden in his slurred words about him getting one of those drinks from you, as you held a glass out to Mark.
Mark shot you one look and didn't even really see the drink.
Instead, what Mark saw was you being bothered by a drunk stranger that needed to back the fuck off if he knew what was good for him.
He was beside you in an instant, and used an arm to snake in between the two of you, wedging himself in between, his back turned to you, fully staring this guy down. The alcohol in his veins made him feel dangerously immortal, and his face gave nothing away, but the lack of humour displayed said plenty.
"Sorry mate," the stranger held up both palms and stepped back.
"Here," you tried to distract Mark by holding his drink out in front of him, which he took from you, but he kept his eyes on the guy who made his way back to his own friends.
"Mark, it's fine, he was only joking," you smiled, finding it both a little endearing and a little annoying that even in this state, Mark would make sure you were okay. He completely misread the signs, but still. It was kind of him.
When Mark turned around and let his exterior soften a little, you both had your attention directed to a furious Poppy who looked like she was just about ready to smash her glass on the bar and slit someone's throat.
Whose throat, though? you wondered.
"Why do you always do that?!"
Ah. Mark's throat.
"Do what?" Mark seemed unfazed by Poppy's outburst.
"Stop cock-blocking her all the time! She doesn't need you to always be all up in her business!"
Oh no, Poppy was going to go to war for you. An undeclared one, too – you hadn't called for troops. Especially not drunk, emotionally unstable ones.
But Mark retaliated with his own ammunition.
"Um, clearly she does. I take my eyes off her for a second and she ends up in Joe's bed,"
You heard an audible gasp come from the other side, and saw Joe, mouth agape, brows in a deep frown. Shocked, offended, dismayed, and not being funny about it.
"Excuse me?!"
For a second, you saw Poppy question herself as her eyes shot to you, asking, "Didn't you?"
"She did." Mark answered, giving you accusatory eyes.
"Mark!" you scolded.
"You told them?!" Joe couldn't quite believe it.
What was happening right now?
"And so what if she did?" Poppy got back to her war, aiming the barrels of her guns right back on Mark. "She can decide for herself if she–"
"She was drunk!" Mark said it like he was sober himself, which, you know, he very much wasn't.
"Nothing happened!" You looked at Joe, needed him to confirm that nothing had happened, just to settle this whole ordeal. But Joe was trying to follow whatever Mark and Poppy were even talking about with confused eyes, puzzling things together.
"Wait, you didn't tell them?" Why wouldn't Joe tell his best friend about it? That made everything so much weirder.
"Of course I didn't!"
Oh. Wow. Cool way to let you know Joe didn't want people knowing you'd seen the inside of his bedroom. Very subtle. Not at all hurtful in any way. You ignored the misplaced sparkle you felt in your lower stomach when you made direct eye-contact with Joe's wild eyes.
Jesus.
That was probably just the drink. Had to be the drink.
"I'm only making sure that she's okay!" Mark defended himself to his fiancé.
It was a wild crossfire. A whole big cluster-fuck of raised voices and slurred words. Poppy and Mark opposite each other, you and Joe in between on either side.
Poppy was saying all sorts of things on your behalf that you didn't need her saying aloud. Things like, "She's fine! She's an adult woman with a sex life!" and "She doesn't need you to act like a jealous boyfriend!", getting things out that had been festering within her for what seemed ages.
Mark defended himself, and mocked facial expressions the whole time, shouting things like, "I'm sorry for being a great friend," all passive aggressive, which only angered Poppy more.
In the meantime, you and Joe had your own fight going.
And Joe had heard what Poppy had just said, had just implied, and get the fuck out, you were so fucking cute when you got all feisty.
You accused Joe of always being so weird, and fucking rude, whilst he accused you of making him lie to Poppy, causing him to be weird. Like it was your fault that he hadn't been honest, that he had pretended he'd dropped you off at your flat that night, and it offended you to no end.
You were not going to take any blame for this – you'd obviously immediately told Mark that afternoon, when you'd gone to have burgers with him for lunch. The whole conversation had been about the wedding shower. Staying over at Joe's was hardly something you could've left out. And why should you have? You'd both fallen asleep in your clothes. Nothing had happened! And Mark had reacted very calmly to it as well. You'd mentioned it, Mark had gone, "Huh," and that was that. You'd carried on talking about the gifts they'd gotten, and the insane amount Poppy's family had spent on them.
It hadn't been a big deal. At all. So, the fact that Mark brought it up now as if it was a big deal kind of stung.
You were about to direct some anger towards your best friend, but it was difficult to get in between whatever Mark and Poppy had going.
"You always do this!" Poppy pointed an angry finger at Mark, who immediately grabbed onto it with a fist, making Poppy flail her arm to break free from it.
"I've taken shots from mouths of random men tonight and you've not once–" Poppy started, but got interrupted.
"You've done what?!" This was news to Mark and so definitely the wrong thing for one drunk person to say to another drunk person.
"You could've at least let me know," Joe got your attention again, and made you scoff.
"The fact that you even thought it was something to keep secret is fucking weird, Joe!"
No, not cute. Scratch that.
It was hot.
You got hotter when you turned pissy and spat Joe's name into his face. He kind of wanted to keep this going just for the off-chance of you saying his name like that again.
But before Joe could say anything back to rile you up any further, Poppy and Mark both lurched forward and channeled all of their pent up anger into filthy kissing. They just started grossly tongue fucking each other and fuck, wasn't that the right idea?
When Joe took a step to the side to continue whatever conversation he was having with you, he saw that you'd turned around and were moving towards the exit.
Escaping.
Just, walking out. Leaving.
Like you always did.
"Fuck you, I love you so much," Joe heard Mark groan into Poppy's mouth, and Poppy moaned so loudly, Joe could hear it over the music and, yea, all right, maybe leaving was the right idea.
You were fast. Already outside, walking backwards along the edge of the pavement as you eyed the street for an available cab.
Joe stumbled out of the bar and called your name when he spotted you.
You sighed, grumbled some swearwords to yourself as Joe jogged up.
"Listen, it's clear that you fucking hate me," you started when Joe got into ear shot. "And I'm sorry that I told Mark about staying over, I wasn't aware that you didn't want anyone to know,"
What?
"I'm sure it's all very embarrassing for you, but don't accuse me of making you lie – I didn't make you do shit,"
Oh no.
You got it all wrong.
"No, I–"
"You lied on your own fucking accord, don't rope me into shit like that, that's not cool,"
You raised an arm when you saw a cab pull up a little down the road after people had just gotten out.
"But no worries, Joe," you got all sarcastic, and the deranged combination of your frown, tight jaw and the mention of his name again made Joe have to close is eyes for a second.
Deep breaths.
Always and forever, deep, deep, deep breaths.
"I'll make sure to never mention to anyone ever again that I sometimes spend time in the same room as you,"
The cab stopped next to you, and you were quick to duck down and speak to the cabby. Gave him your address before moving to get inside. You saw Joe step closer then, and you immediately raised a finger.
"Don't," you warned, and Joe froze.
You didn't need Joe accompanying you home. You'd be just fine by yourself. Had he not just listened to Poppy going off inside, saying you were fine?
"I don't hate you," Joe blurted out quickly before you'd get into the cab and would disappear into the night.
He couldn't quite let you leave yet.
Not when Joe felt like this.
You just pressed your lips into a polite smile, clearly not buying it and just looked at him a second, then, by ways of saying goodbye, said, "I won't be a burden to you any longer."
You were leaving.
Climbed into the cab and were actually leaving.
No.
Absolutely not.
Joe saw you get into a seatbelt, attention diverted, and decided, fuck it, before he swung the door open again and climbed right over you.
"Joe, what the fuck,"
Joe ignored you, loudly gave his own address to the cab driver too, then instructed to drop you off first as he buckled up.
You stared at him with wild eyes, not quite believing that Joe couldn't just let you go home by yourself.
"I don't hate you," Joe said again, calmer now. "I never said you were a burden to me - you're not a burden to me." Much, much softer.
You, not so much.
"I don't need you to take me home, I can take care of myself!"
"I know you can," Joe's voice was low. "And you have done. Still do."
All fight seemed to have left him completely, and it took you off guard a little. Your breath hitched on an inhale, and you were unsure of why you felt the muscles in your stomach work when you looked at Joe.
But you were stubborn.
"I don't need people looking out for me, I know Poppy's plastered, but she was right – it's so unnecessary," you were genuinely annoyed that Joe couldn't have just let you get a taxi to your flat by yourself. You were tough, God damn it.
"It's just..." Joe trailed, and let eye-contact linger.
"No, it's not just. I don't need you to take care of me!"
You weren't just going to give in. You were going to get Joe to agree with you and then apologise.
"I know you don't!" Joe raised his voice slightly to match yours a little, before he brought it back down again, and said, "But what people need is hardly ever what they want,"
Oh.
Oh shit.
That shut you right up. You felt that sparkle again and it made you clench your thighs.
"And what people want..."
Joe moved in closer a little bit, and fuck all the way off. You wanted to kiss Joe.
"...is hardly ever what they need."
Needed that mouth on yours, and when Joe inched closer, you didn't move back. Did the opposite, actually and looked at his lips.
It was all Joe needed from you.
"Did you know that when you blush," Joe said, voice just above a whisper now, and his nose nearly touching yours, "It goes all the way down your neck?"

Chapter 4.2 - Dating for Weirdos
ALICE
They end up at Annie Joe’s as a result of Alice’s “Develop a Plan in Realtime” tap dance. It’s a leftover habit from her time with Jeffery. He would never say exactly what he wanted, leaving her to deploy a bunch of coy observations, questions that weren’t really questions, and leaps of faith to figure it out.
“Are you planning to go inside, or do you have some kind of telepathy that allows you to place orders from the sidewalk?” Vlad’s delivery is so deadpan Alice has no idea if he’s teasing her. Plus, he won’t even look at her.
She bites back the urge to explain that no matter how happy her ex was to meet his friends here, he got so pissed when Alice took him that he shook her until her teeth rattled.
Why did she let him do that? Why did she accept it? Even now, when she knows she was being gaslit, her muscle memory keeps her feet stuck to the pavement.
“I’m afraid this place will poison me,” she lies because it's better than admitting her fear.
“The campus cafeteria will poison you,” Vlad admonishes, but he’s smiling. “This place will change your life. The food is delicious. You made an excellent choice.”
Alice looks down at her feet because she knows if he reaches for her hand she’s going to throw up.
Please don’t do it. Please don’t.
It takes a few seconds to pull herself together, but when she looks up, Vlad is just holding the door open. Relieved, she follows him into the diner.
They get stuck behind a woman yelling at a server about her bill. A server who clearly doesn’t give a shit, which—
Good for her. That’s who Alice used to be.
When they get their seats and scan the menu, Alice’s stomach is so twisted in knots from mourning her former self that she only orders coffee. Vlad, meanwhile, raises a brow, doubles the coffee, and then proceeds to order enough food to feed an army.
The coffee arrives.
The silence stretches.
Alice has exactly two thoughts in her head:
Why is talking so hard?
And why is she so broken that she can’t even make conversation?
She doesn’t realize she’s actually voiced those thoughts until Vlad answers.
“Talking is hard because everyone wastes time saying the opposite of what they mean, and thus, every conversation is deciphering whether you should respond to the thing someone has said or the thing they mean and depending on the time of day and the height of the sun in the fucking sky it could be either.” He sips his coffee, “The problem is not you. The problem is that there are no rules, and hell is other sims.”
Alice doesn’t know whether to wince or laugh. She didn’t used to have such dark thoughts. Being around tons of sims made her happy. She loved parties. Now, large groups make her sweat, and she can’t get through a party unless she has access to alcohol.
Lots and lots of alcohol.
Hell is other sims.
Vlad takes in her expression and sighs. “I’m sorry. That was…” He breaks off. “I’m probably not going to get through this date without saying something off-putting. I can be unsettling despite my best efforts. Or, well, not really my best effort,” he says almost to himself, “More like no effort if I'm being honest.”
Alice’s mouth falls open. It's a stunning thing to admit on a first date. Sure, she has some obvious flaws, but still, she was worth a little bit of work. “D-did I hear you right?” she demands, “You’re not even trying?”

(Part 2 of 4)
Honestly, shout out to @coolpuppy12, who built this amazing lot! I love it so much 😭😭😭
Also, just gonna say some stuff about Alice here:
When I was young (Alice's age), I was in an abusive relationship, and getting out of it was a REAL MINDFUCK. It took time to get back to my old self (or, I guess, learn that you can't really go back, but you can become something new and better). And when I started working on this story, I was debating on how much of this to actually put in.
Ultimately, I decided to just go for it, which has been pretty cathartic to write.
Anyway, I just wanted to flag this because Alice will probably come off as a bunch of contradictions for a while (She's confident! She's not confident! She's horny! Wait, don't touch her!), and that's just coming out of writing my own experience. She's finding her footing and mourning her old self while trying to trust again.
But rest assured, this is a HEA (Happily Ever After), and baby is gonna figure herself out!
I guess it just felt important to me to write someone in the messy middle bc I needed that when I was in the messy middle. And seeing someone make it to the other side? Fucking chef's kiss.
Okay, enough of me oversharing emotional trauma on the internet! In about five minutes (aka the next part), Vlad is going to say something completely outrageous, and this date is gonna get weird and funny, I promise lol.

My AO3 Wrapped 2023
Welcome to my AO3 Wrapped 2023, where I take a look at some of my favourite fics from 2023 (one bookmark per month).
There were so many amazing fics in 2023, so many new people and friends I met because of fanfic <3 So here’s to a very good 2024, full of words and worlds!
Let’s go to the fics:
January-
The Fine Line Between Hormones and Home by seekingmoonscapes (Bad Buddy: The Series)
In an almost canon universe where the only difference is that it is omegaverse, Pat is an omega, and Pran is an alpha. And during one of his heats, Pat is at home, and decides to ask Pran for a shirt with his scent to help with his heat. But instead, he asks Pran for help in other ways. Fic where the porn IS the plot, everything is super consensual, and sexy and hot. Alternating POV, so on Pran’s pov we get to see all the pining.
February -
If Never Again, If Every Day by gallifreyburning and takiki16 (The Old Guard)
This fic was wonderful from beginning to end. For reasons, 2021 Nicky goes back in time to Jerusalem and his first death at Yusuf's hands. Meanwhile, 1099 Nicolò goes forward in time to 2021 and meets Joe. It's heartbreaking and loving and funny and so full of love. Nicky and Joe miss each other even when around their younger versions. But the love they feel for each other is stronger than that. Wonderful story, happy ending.
March -
Wooing the Water Tribe by lenaballena (ATLA) @dameferre
Sokka has been living in the Fire Nation as Zuko's second in power and his best friend and everything. When Katara comes to visit, Sokka thinks Zuku is courting her. And he realizes he is also in love with his best friend. Lots of pining. There's absolutely no courting of Katara. It's also really funny. My heart broke for Sokka at some moments.
April -
The Grand Unified Theory of Shen Qingqiu by 00janeblonde (SVSSS)
WIP - This story is all fluff and no angst, like the tags say, slice of life and it's wonderful. SQQ dies at Maigu Ridge, and is offered to acquire the Game Plus, where he can go back to the past with his cultivation and memory intact, and try again. Doing that he discovers that he is actually the real Shen Jiu reincarnated, and he can try to recover memory markers to be able to restart the "game" even before than when he first "transmigrated". His friendship with YQY becomes strong, LQG also becomes his friend (it's really sweet how he wants his friends back). Everything is very soft. Absolutely great teacher SQQ.
May -
but for me, there is a storm by Authoress (Haikyuu!!) by @kiribakus
An epic pacific rim au. Hinata and Kageyama are both cadets who want to be Jaeger pilots, but they cannot get along. So they work really hard because they are their last hope to pilot a one of a kind Jaeger - a Kaiju/Machine hybrid. They solve their problems in the beginning (and then later they have more problems). Hinata and Kageyama are not the only main characters, other characters are also very important and have their own storyline and pov. This story is heartbreaking as well. There's MCD, and it made me cry so hard I got puffy eyes. It's a wonderful read, and very well written.
June -
The UA Analyst Kid by RogueVector (BNHA)
Izuku meets the UA teachers before getting OFA and they see how good his analysis is, so they start to train him (together with some other heroes). But some things don't change and Izuku still meets All Might and gets offered OFA. This story is funny, sweet and with amazing relationships. Izuku is OP with his intelligence and training. All the teachers and heroes are so supportive and good. A really feel good story.
July -
Deku? I think he’s some pro… by Clouds (BNHA)
After All Might told Izuku he can't be a hero, he finds himself in a forum used by some underground heroes and offers his analysis to them, since he can't be a hero, he will help them. The underground heroes think Izuku is some kind of retired pro when they ask for help analyzing some villains and all, and when they finally meet face-to-face they all decide to practically adopt Izuku and teach him to fight so he will have a chance to be a quirkless hero. It is amazing! Also, the relationship between Izuku and the underground heroes is more like friends than teacher-student, and it's amazing that way. (some All Might bashing - be warned)
August -
Mobius by Foxquills (BNHA) @fox-quills
WIP - I love this story so much!!! Third-year Izuku is sent to the past because of a quirk accident, to the time both Shouta and Hizashi are third year students at UA. Problem is, according to Nedzu, time is constant, or a loop, so he can’t change anything in the past, and everything that has happened, will happen again. He becomes fast friends with both Shouta and Hizashi, and starts crushing on them as well. Both Hizashi and Shouta also start crushing on him. It is lovely. There’s pain. It’s awesome. (also omegaverse).
September -
Factory Settings by Anonymous (Good Omens)
Post season 2 au, because Crowley follows Aziraphale to heaven. Things happen, and instead of Crowley, there is Raphael, without any memory of all the time he's lived as Crowley. Heaven and Hell are at it again. Aziraphale has no idea what to do, and he misses his Crowley. Muriel is a sweetheart. Both Aziraphale and Crowley/Raphael povs. Great story, feels very much canon.
October -
Justice in Defiance by Foxquills (BNHA) @fox-quills
WIP - Aizawa is a hero turned villain who kills both heroes and villains alike. And one day Izuku finds him right after he kills someone. They fight. And now Izuku needs to know more. What made Aizawa turn????? To do that, he will also need Hizashi in his corner. Absolutely lovely story!!!! The povs are amazing. The feelings and pining are perfect.
November -
If I Must Starve (Let it be in Your Arms) by Igneum807 (The Witcher)
So think about the softest story involving Jaskier and touch-starved witchers, and this is the result. During his travels alone, when he and Geralt go their different ways for a few weeks, Jaskier meets Geralt's brothers, who are just as touch and companionship-starved as Geralt was before meeting Jaskier. It's super soft and tender.
December -
Cultivate: Slow Life on a Monster-Infested Mountain by NeonGhostCat (SVSSS) @neonghostcat
When SY transmigrates, the System tries to put him on SQQ's body, but SQQ is aware and is able to stop it from happening. The System then gives SY his own body, but something goes wrong with the system and SY is decided to not get involved with the plot, or with Cang Qiong Sect, and specially SQQ. He finds an abandoned mountain, with an abandoned house there and decides to stay there until he is strong enough if SQQ finds him and wants to kill him. Obviously things cannot be that simple. Now he is stuck on the mountain he can't get out of, every full moon night there are monster attacks and one day LQG appears on the Mountain, how can he get out of helping with the plot now? Shen Yuan is absolutely perfect on this fic. I love how he deals with the mountain and its beasts and plant-life. Liushen is the softest you'll see. Slow burn, super domestic, feel good story.
~
Enjoy your readings!

Take it easy son!
-Okay dad, you already had fun and relived your time of youth and glory now give me back my body and my life or I'll tell mom about the statue you used to exchange our bodies, I know you keep it in the safe in your office! -
I can't believe that my father fucks me like that, he tricked me into touching his fucking magic statue to exchange our souls and have fun with my life and my youth, being a fucking old man sucks I thought it would be fun at first like in the movies and I would learn to see the world with a new perspective but every day I wake up with a backache that doesn't stop until I fill my mouth with a dozen pain medications, my father neglected his body and now I have to live with his huge belly, his thick mustache and with his painful infection every time I go to urinate, my mother has incited me to go to the doctor but I will not let anyone see the tiny and dysfunctional cock that now hangs from my obese crotch.
I have no fucking idea how to do my dad's law job every day all I do is go to his job and drop my fat ass on my dad's office chair for 8 hours and pretend he worked at the computer so that my mother doesn't suspect anything, I have tried all the combinations that I can think of to try to get the fucking statue out of its safe, reverse the exchange and return to my body but I have tried all the possible dates since mom's birthday up to mine and nothing seems to work.
and while he has fun using my fit body to fuck a bunch of random girls and guys in my old room, partying with my friends, and winning my track meet thanks to my long hours of training I sit on the stands next to my mother watching as he shows off my muscular body flexing his biceps to the public after winning first place.
-Wow! take it easy son, there's no need to tell your mother our little secret, she's only been in your body for a couple of weeks, listen, I'll make it up to you when we change again, your birthday is near, isn't it? How would you like to have a new car? I think it's time to change that junk car you have for something better, it's a bit embarrassing to have to move around in that coffin with wheels-
“HEY DAVID ARE YOU COMING? OR ARE YOU GOING TO TALK TO THAT OLD MAN ALL DAY?”
The voice in the distance almost made my heart stop, Monica my girlfriend was sitting in the backseat of my old car with my best friends and her girls, I had not seen or talked to her since my father put me in his obese 250-pound body.
-look, son, we'll talk later, I have things to do…- She ran out using my long and muscular legs and jumped into my car, and left without looking back. leaving me standing there in the middle of the field like an idiot while my mother slowly came up behind me.
-Hey Joe, are you ready to go? I want to go to the mall to try on some shoes for church before I go home- I looked at my old mother who came slowly to kiss my fat cheek and take my hand to walk with her back to dad's truck.
I sighed and walked with her swinging my hairy belly until I got to the car, I just hope my dad doesn't make any more excuses to give me back my body, My parents' wedding anniversary is near and I don't even want to think about what he has prepared for me. mother... maybe I should buy him a gift with my dad's credit card in case my father decides to extend his stay in my body longer, I don't want to make my mother angry and make me sleep on the sofa, my back wouldn't take it.
Hey! You can support me to continue creating stories, see similar stories on my patreon, you can also join my discord if you are interested in role-playing about bodyswap, possession and transformation, m2m!

8 for Iris and Joe?
Gladly! This is set during late s1. giving Iris the catharsis she deserves. I think she and Joe do have a separate heart-to-heart in canon in which he apologizes, so you can choose to see this as an additional one or replacing that one. I don't remember enough about that one to say for sure which reading is better 😅
(I'm also not super solid on Joe's character so apologies if he's a bit OOC here)
“Were you ever going to tell me the truth?” Her dad sighed. “Iris—” “Dad.” Her voice came out strong but wobbled slightly. “He’s my best friend. My best friend since we were nine years old, and you made him keep that from me!” “You don’t understand—” “Don’t I?” “No, you don’t! I…” He scrubbed a hand over his face. “He threatened you, Iris. Stuck a picture of you to the walk, a knife in your heart, warned me to stop. How could I let Barry tell you after that?” “I got kidnapped by Tony Woodward,” she snapped, “because my name was on my blog. You know why my name was on it, Dad? Because Barry tried to tell me to stop, to back off, and made the stupid mistake of calling my bluff. Because you were forcing him to do something he didn’t wanna do, and he lost his senses.” “Hey, now,” her dad frowned, “Barry’s an adult—” She scoffed. “Which is it, Dad? Is it how could I let Barry tell you or Barry’s an adult?” “Both! Both, Iris, all right, I…” he sighed. “You don’t understand. The guy we’re dealing with—” “Kidnapped Eddie.” Iris’s eyes flashed. “Eddie, my boyfriend, my fiancé—get that look off your face, Dad, it’s him I love, and you’ll never change that—who I could’ve saved if I’d had any idea what the hell was going on.” “You don’t know that!” “I know I would’ve had more of a chance!” “No you don’t!” “Yes I do!” She scowled. “He’s a speedster. I get it. I can’t stand up against him myself. But he knew who I was, didn’t he? This whole time. And so does literally everyone else in this city who’s seen Barry around! Doesn’t take a genius to spot his best friend in the whole damn world!” Her dad winced. “Iris…” “You’ve had me in gloves since I was 8. I beat Barry who knows how many times before finally giving him enough pointers that he could stand a chance against me…or any bully.” She narrowed her eyes as his widened. “Oh yeah. That wasn’t just Barry improving naturally. It was me, coaching him between you teaching us. Me, running drills with him. Me, teaching him other moves that you hadn’t shown him yet, that I knew from watching you!” “Baby girl, I...” “You want to protect me.” She sighed. “I get that. I do. But Dad…I’m not a kid anymore. And I’m no secret to any enemy of his with half a brain. Barry’s in danger as the Flash? I’m in just as much danger as his known best friend. And you know I can handle myself. So what’s the issue?” “The issue,” he whispered, “is I don’t want you getting hurt. You don’t have the speed Barry does. You—” “But it was never just about that. You never let me join the force, but you let Barry become a CSI. He’s in the field every day—but you don’t mind. You treat him like a colleague…you treat me like a baby.” He sighed. “I’m sorry, Iris.” She pursed her lips. “Are you?” “Yes,” he agreed tightly. “Yes, I am. I had no idea you felt that way.” “I was never subtle about how I felt.” “No.” He chuckled dryly. “No, you weren’t. I guess I just didn’t wanna hear it.” She nodded, but her expression had softened slightly. “So?” “So?” She glanced at him shrewdly. “No more secrets?” He hesitated, then nodded. “No more secrets. And…and I’m sorry we kept this one from you for as long as we did, baby girl.” Iris rushed into his arms, and he caught her, hugging her tightly. “You should’ve told me before Eddie,” she mumbled. He chuckled. “Yeah…yeah, you might’ve solved the whole damn thing for us in five seconds flat.” Her cheeks warmed. “Dad…” “It’s true, isn’t it?” He sighed. “You’ve got a nose for trouble, baby girl, for better or worse. Makes you sharp as a whip though…and we sure could use more of that.” She pulled away and kissed his cheek with a smile. “I couldn’t agree more.”

Bejeweled confuses me. I don't know if it's a break up song, a bragging song, a I Did Something Bad like song or something else?
so like, obviously it can be about whatever you want, but if you’re asking what i think taylor was writing it about. um.
okay so. so bejeweled is one of those songs that can like. like. what you think qualifies as cheating, and what you think taylor qualifies as cheating, and how close to that line you think taylor would walk. like. it becomes relevant. i’m not gonna imply taylor like. like she’s not paul mccartney she didn’t have sex with someone else where she knew joe would catch her because she got cold feet about getting married. but if you aren’t comfortable with the idea that the thought of flirting with another man in order to reaffirm her agency would cross her mind, then like. i guess then my answer is global superstar taylor swift wrote it about my specific middle school best friend who is the only person on earth who was born evil
the way i see it bejeweled is about— well, a lot of little situations probably, but mostly about two different points in her life. there’s spring 2016 in general and the early morning hours of april 29th in specific, and then there’s winter 2021. and, on some level all of midnights is about winter 2021, both because that’s when she wrote it and also. like. clearly the agonizing over marriage and fame on midnight rain didn’t come out of nowhere, you know? but i think bejeweled is very much so about the two simultaneously
a fun fact about bejeweled is taylor was wearing this dress the night of april 28, 2016
another fun fact about bejeweled is it was probably written, at most, a month before you’re losing me. maybe a couple weeks afterwards. maybe the same week. we just don’t know, aside from them being written at around the same time
and with that context two lines jump out
best believe i’m still bejeweled: now, obviously, this is first and foremost about being metaphorically bejeweled. but if we want to take it to a more literal level, this can apply to both timeframes. in one, it’s “i’m still bejeweled, i’m wearing a bejeweled dress”, in the other it’s “i’m still bejeweled, think about the place where you first met me”
and when i meet the band, they ask ‘do you have a man?’ i could still say ‘i don’t remember’: this immediately reminded me off “he’s in the club doing i don’t know what” and again, it can either be about that first situation, or it can be a reminder that she could, yknow, write him out the way she wrote him in
now, do i think anything serious happened? no. do i think she at least had the possibility, the daydream, the late night revenge fantasy, on her mind? i mean like. wouldn’t you?

Hello 😭 I really love your bofb fanfics and headcanons!! They are really awesome ✨ Also, I wonder if you could write a headcanon with Speirs, Luz, Liebgott, Roe, Welsh and Babe about the male reader being hurted during the battle and how they would react to that 😭😭? If yes, then thank you so, so much <33
Hi Anon! Thank you so much, I'm so glad that you enjoy them 🤗 I don't think I've ever written anything with Harry before, so I hope his turned out okay
Speirs
As an officer, Speirs would probably make a point of not showing favoritism towards you
But that becomes very difficult when he hears that you were wounded on the patrol
His reaction would probably be similar to how he reacted when Grant was shot
Letting the façade slip ever so slightly, the willingness to show a little more emotion in front of his men because someone he cares about was just hurt
When he gets to you, he definitely stays there the entire time, the medics working under his eagle-eyed watch
He's not trying to intimidate them or anything - he's just stressed out and waiting for the chance to talk to you
"You look mad," you note when you're finally alone.
Immediately, Ron's face softens. "Sorry. I've just been worrying about you."
"I know. You're not nearly so callous as everyone makes you out to be." You smile, teasing, even though you've just been hurt - your ability to find a bright side or the humor in a situation is one of the things that Ron admires and loves most about you. "Be careful though, Sparky. If too many people see you caring about me, it might ruin that heartless reputation of yours."
He can't help but laugh. For you, he would do anything, no matter what it did to his reputation
Luz
After what happened to Muck and Penkala, the thought of anyone he cares about getting hurt makes Luz feel sick to his stomach
And when he hears you're wounded? The color just drains from his face because he fears the worst
Luckily, you're not too hurt
(So then why is adrenaline coursing through his veins like he's preparing to run a marathon?)
When you see him come to the aid station, you flash him a smile. He tries, really, to return it, but it comes out as something closer to a grimace
"You come to cheer me up Luz?"
He's more than happy to see that you're okay, but he can't find it in him to crack any sort of joke to make you feel better
Instead, he presses a quick kiss to your temple. "Don't go scaring me like that again."
Liebgott
Okay it's during Bastogne and Liebgott has just gotten back from being Winters' runner for the day
At first when he realizes that you're not in your foxhole, he thinks that you've gone to make the rounds and visit your friends
Only he can't find you anywhere
Finally, Doc Roe tells him that you caught some shrapnel and were taken into the town
He's never seen Joe's eyes so wide, seen him so speechless, seen him scared, even - no one has
He guides Liebgott back into Bastogne so that he can see you
Joe is calm until he reaches the church and sees you, then he's power walking to the cot you sit on and has you in his arms in a second, holding you tight
"Are you okay?" He asks, and when you tell him that you are, he wants to make sure. "Promise?"
"I am. Are you?"
He squeezes your hand. "I am now."
Roe
As the company's medic, he's the first to arrive when he hears someone yell for help
But he feels like his heart stops beating when he realizes that the person who's hurt is you
For a moment he freezes. Spina is by his side, asking, "Do you want me to take this one?"
Somehow, that spurs Gene into action, helping patch you up as quickly as he can
Prepare to have your own personal doctor for the next few days, because he's constantly checking in with you to make sure that you're okay
"I never doubted that I would recover," you joke after the war is over and everyone is more capable of talking about certain events. You offer Gene a smile and a wink. "I mean, how could I not heal with the world's best medic taking care of me?"
No matter how much time passes, it never fails to make him blush
Welsh
No okay but I feel like he would be a lot more calm than everyone expects?
Like, the other officers don't know what he's going to do when he hears the news, but they feel like Harry is going to run off to find you the moment they tell him
He does leave when he hears that you're hurt, but he handles the whole thing very well
He asks the medics very clear questions about your condition, asks you how you feel, etc.
It's not until after the war that you find out why he was so calm
"I didn't want to scare you," he admits. "Because it felt appropriate that only one of us could freak out, and as the wounded man, it was your right."
Luckily, you both remained calm, managing to avoid scaring each other over the incident
But not a day goes by, even after the war, where Harry doesn't breathe a sigh of relief over the fact that you're okay
Babe
Who can blame him, really, for being worried after he's lost so many of his friends in Bastogne?
Babe would rush to your side the minute that he heard you were wounded - and he would remain there until he was perfectly certain that you're okay
He would be asking Doc Roe a hundred questions, trying to make sure that you're okay
Probably wouldn't let you out of his sight for the rest of the war. I mean, he almost lost someone else that he cares about, and he's not about to let that happen
In Austria, you ask him about it. You love him, but you feel bad that he worries for you so much
When the end of the war is announced, you can't help but smile at him. "Well, Babe, all that determination paid off - I made it to the end."
"Yeah," he would laugh. "All thanks to me."
He means it as a joke, but seeing how much he cared about you really made all the difference. You kiss him on the cheek. "All thanks to you," you agree
Thanks for the request, Anon, and I hope you like these! 🕊️

BIGGER Punch-Out!! Relationship HC's!
Shhh.. I went into more depth on a couple of the mentioned relationships from the last post..
Kaiser and Joe are obviously a romantic duo! They often go out on walks (since Kaiser likes the peace and Joe thinks forests are good places to kiss), eat at restaurants or visit each other's houses and talk over coffee. Sometimes they'll train together until Joe becomes distracted looking at Kaiser and gets decked by a punching bag.
Disco and Hippo are an unlikely friendship to be sure. I've touched on this before but since Kaiser and Joe go off on their own little ventures, Disco and Hippo are stuck together and have to come up with things to do. Disco enjoys taking Hippo around the city and showing him cool details about everyday life to help the other get accustomed to the ins and outs of such a different environment (during the time between contender and TD, Disco was the one who gave Hippo the suggestion of a guard for his stomach, but unfortunately he was too busy having his own crisis to actually help Hippo find one).
Hondo and Hugger are next, and they're probably the most obvious best friends out of everybody. They've known each other for years and compliment each other well. They're both good cooks, polite people, encouraging to others and know when to draw the line. Hugger's sense of humour also balances out how emotionally dry Hondo can be, they're pretty much each other's bread and butter. Most of the time they enjoy going out on hikes or on rare occasions volunteer together at pet shelters and help get some good animals to equally good homes.
Tiger and Don are.. hard to explain. 90% of the time they're forced next to each other and throw insults to pass the time, and the other 10% they're getting into fights over said insults. It's impossible to count the amount of times one of Tiger's clones has stolen Don's toupee and stuck it to the ceiling as a joke. Poor Hugger has to act as the Dad for them, separating their fights and calming tensions with his signature 'I'm not mad, just disappointed' glare. Hondo threatens them with his signature 'So help me God if you don't stop now, there will be hell to pay' glare. Both work. Overall Don and Tiger are good friends, they just express their friendship in very.. bothersome ways.
Aran. Dear God. You'd assume he doesn't have any friends, but there's two notable people. First off there's Tiger, who people actually know Aran gets along with well. They enjoy poking fun at others to pass the time and usually stand in the corner of the room pointing things out and making each other laugh. Tiger is also one of the only people who supports Aran's pranks, but mostly because if he supports Aran then he can't be pranked himself. It's a friendship with benefits, in a way. Second off there's Hondo, who nobody knows about. Both Hondo and Aran keep the friendship they have hidden well under wraps, with Aran constantly sneaking over to Hondo's house so they can watch anime and draw.
Soda and Bull are similar to Hondo and Hugger in the sense that they've known each other for ages and everybody knows it. There's never a time when they're apart, since Soda's always there to help Bull stay calm and Bull's always there to stop Soda from being too social (like starting conversations with shady strangers since he can't read people very well). Sometimes they're forced to go their separate ways when Soda goes off with his doctor or Bull goes to therapy, but they're never away for long. Usually they hang around in a dry cleaners run by an old couple they enjoy the company of, since it's quiet and they get free stuff if they behave.
Last is Macho and Sandman, an unlikely pair! Even though Macho started off hating Sandman since he was the one thing keeping him from the title, he came to like him more after Mac stormed the ranks and they ended up becoming good friends. Macho often trails after Sandman when he goes to volunteer work like cleaning the rings after matches or helping in soup kitchens, even if he hates it.. he basically just does it to be around Sandman more. Now that is a huge signal right there, but Sandman really doesn't catch on, since Macho is naturally a himbo and at this point Sandy doesn't question anything he does or says. He is beyond being questioned.. there's not a thought in his brain.

Easy co.’s reaction to having a nurse s/o with big boobs
genre: Fluff; suggestive
warnings: Language, suggestion (sorry guys)
description: Easy company’s men reaction to you (their s/o) being their nurse and having big boobs.
a/n: Hey!! Sorry I totally didn’t see the medic part and I accidentally wrote it as nurse i’m so sorry 😭 Anywho, just a reminder that this isn’t any hate towards any itty-bitty-titty community at all! (love you guys for real!) Also, some of these might seem like they’re sexualizing the reader but please don’t take it that way, it’s all supposed to be about love!! Hope you enjoy reading <3
Taglist: @sweetxvanixlla @ronsparky @samwinchesterslostshoe @executethyself35 @linhkhanhcps @1waveshortofashipwreck @grumpy-liebgott @barbeygirl (if you want to be added to the taglist, let me know!)
Dick Winters: - He tries to be the most respectful, it’s inappropriate to look at your body that way and he really respects you.
- But he also is fighting himself from blushing when he sees how your figure looks in your nurses uniform
- He finds you beautiful regardless though, no matter what your chest size is (even tho he’s had a very hard time trying not to stare)
Lewis Nixon: - his eyes get really big when he sees you in your nurse uniform, your cleavage out almost perfectly.
- His throat becomes dry, he feels the urge to drink water, lots of it from his recent thirst, but it seems the only thing he’s thirsty for is you.
- After seeing only men for the past months, and you being the first women he sees in the hospital, he almost dies flat out and he would be completely happy to do so
Carwood Lipton: - He doesn’t even notice at first, he only looks when you have to reach across his body in order to find a good vein.
- His face gets so red, one because he’s guilty for looking, another because he’s absolutely in awe of the beautiful things in front of him
- He still tries to not objectify you, but he truly finds you beautiful in general. He can’t help but get goosebumps at the thought of seeing you again
Joe Toye: - Man when he sees you in that nurses dress, after almost a year of seeing only the men around him, he gets so close to losing it
- He literally starts drooling at the mouth whenever he sees you, you’re like a dream come true, an answer to every single one of his prayers.
- When you do get close to him it’s like he can’t breathe, your body only clouds his mind with unholy thoughts and the dying urge to feel your pretty chest. He’s absolutely desperate for you and getting to know you for the rest of his stay at the hospital.
Joe Liebgott: - NOW WE ALL KNOW THIS MAN IS HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE When he sees you, he actually does lose it, a big smile rising onto his face as though the girl of his dreams is now assigned as his nurse
- He’s an absolute slut for you. Like he’s gonna try his absolute best to make you his, whatever he has to do, he’ll do it. He can’t help but flirt with you any chance he can get.
- When it’s getting close to the end of his stay, he’s dreading it. Only wishing to see you everyday. He’ll practically beg to see you again sometime, or if he can write to you. And being good friends you say yes, making him the happiest man alive.
Bill Guarnere: - He’s probably the biggest flirt you’ve had as a patient. The look on his face is the equivalence of a kid in a candy store for the first time. He’s quick to introduce himself to you, bringing out his best charm for you
- “You always walk around looking like that? It’s killin’ me, doll, and you know it” He would whisper in your ear as you take care of him. It’s hard not to give in when he’s so enticing like this, his voice sending you chills when he talks to you so romantically.
- He’d promise he’d write to you once he gets better, making sure that once the war was over, he’d find you again and take you out the right way.
George Luz: -He gets so smiley when he sees you, he doesn’t mean to stare at your chest, in his defense your chest was kinda staring at him first, your uniform was a bit tight in the upper half making you a bit more revealed, but he didn’t mind one bit.
-He was actually rather joyful, whenever he saw you, you brought his hopes up a bunch. It always made him so happy to see you. Just being around a women and getting to be taken care of by you was a dream.
- He loves every second that he has with you, I could definitely see him being quite smitten with you after you taking such good care of him.
Eugene Roe: - He gets super shy around you and finds it pretty hard to make eye contact for the longest. He never thought he’d be the one to end up hurt, especially when he was supposed to be the one to help people get better, but being around you makes things a lot better.
- Sometimes he’d like to imagine that you guys are together while you’re taking care of him and when he’s really sad. just a lovely girlfriend taking care of her sick boyfriend is what he sees in his head (even tho he knows that’s not the case)
- When you ask if he’d like for you to write letters, he almost finds it impossible that a gorgeous girl like you, would want him to be your man. He’s estatic and would say yes immediately.
Bull Randleman: - It’s love at first sight for him. “Wow” is all he can say under his breath when he sees you for the first time. It’s an amazing sight.
- In the most non-offensive way possible, you’re like a wet dream come true to him. A sweet, pretty girl, with the prettiest tits known to man, taking care of him while he’s hurt.
- It’s like a dream for the rest of his time there. He waits and counts down the hours until you take care of him again, he’s just so happy to be in your presence.
Floyd Talbert: - After everything he’s endured the past months, you’re the best thing he’s ever seen. Literally a gift from God. You and your amazing top half mesmerizing him by the way you do practically anything.
- He looks forward to every-time he sees you. And when he does he’s flirting with you nonstop. “You know, when all this is over with, I would love to get to know you better.”
- He’s gotta a staring problem really bad, he tries to stop, but he can’t help it. You’re the first woman he’s laid eyes on in so long and he just can’t get enough of your body.
Skip Muck: - “Christ in heaven, you’re the best thing i’ve seen my entire life” He says when you walk to his bed, urgent for your care. “How are you today beautiful? Do I need to fight any fellas for giving you a problem?” He’s very playful with you, but there’s only truth to his words.
- He thinks you’re so pretty though, he’s like a schoolgirl crushing on her teacher, anticipating for your arrival everyday, and being a pet to you everytime you are around.
- When his stay is ending, he finally confesses his feelings to you, letting you know how much he actually enjoys spending time with you, and how he would love to see you after the war.
Don Malarkey:- He’s like a little boy around you, so cheerful and happy. When he first met you he was struck by your pretty face, and its was no surprise that your chest was perfect too.
- He tries being respectful every time you’re around, but it’s hard not to steal a glance at your pretty chest every now and then. You never fail to send butterflies down his body when you get close to him too.
-He’s extra sweet to you always, calling you ma’am respectfully, asking if he can do anything for you despite his physical condition. He’s just very happy to have a positive energy like you around him.
Babe Heffron: - “My goodness, what have I done to deserve you” He says when he sees you walk over to him, it doesn’t even matter if he’s hurt, he can’t feel it anymore. Only thing he can feel is a burning desire for you.
- You’ll catch him staring towards you a lot, he doesn’t even try to hide his staring eyes. He is truly fascinated with you.
- When his stay gets cut short, he asks you if you’d like for him to write to you, it was the sweetest you’d ever saw him. When you said yes he would grab you in a hug and swing you around with joy.
Shifty Powers: - He’s the most respectful out of all the guys. He’s well aware of how perfect your chest is, but he’s not going out of his way to make you uncomfortable at all. He’s pretty mature about it.
- But he does find you beautiful, to him, your body is obviously amazing, but you are so much more to him then just a nice nurse with pretty tits. You’re amazing girl that he would love to know more of.
- He probably would tell you how he feels later on once his time there was up, it he would be super nice and respectful about it.
Frank Perconte: - He’s like a dog to a bone, absolutely enamored with you and your smokin’ body (as he would like to call it)
- “What a dame” He’d say under his breath, suddenly in the need of water by your nice looks. He’s definitely gotta staring problem (he really can’t help it 😭)
- “When all this is over with, you wanna come home with me, pretty girl?” He would flirt with you until he physically can’t anymore
Ronald Speirs: - He doesn’t want to give you a huge reaction, but if you could read his mind, you’d be surprised about the things he’d been thinking about….
- “Doll, do you know the effect that you leave on half of the guys in this place? I can’t tell you what all they’d do just to touch you”
- In all, he’s mesmerized by your body and the way you move. Even in the most basic moments, he just can’t help but watch you do your job.
Skinny Sisk: - “You’re my nurse, wow. Is it my lucky day or somethin’?” When he sees you, he’s so happy that you’re gonna be the one taking care of him
- He’s a big simp for you, if you need anything, someone to talk to, help (if he’s physically able) then he’s more then willing to do it.
- He’s so smiley and happy around you it’s so sweet!! He tries not to stare at your amazing rack but he thinks you’re the prettiest he’s ever seen.
Chuck Grant: - “Golly, am I in heaven?” He thinks you’re an absolute angel after all of the hell he’s seen. If good looks could kill, he’d be willing to die under your watch.
- He has to remind himself constantly than your eyes are “up there” instead of anything otherwise, but he can’t concentrate on anything when you’re in the room (for obvious reasons ofc)
- He’s well behaved on the most part though, just a sweet bby who loves your chest like it’s nothing LOL
Johnny Martin: - He actually feels so much better when he finds out you are gonna he his nurse. Christmas day came early for him (a pretty girl with nice tits was for sure on his list)
- “What are you doin’ here? Shouldn’t you be performing at some show or something, you’re too pretty to work” He doesn’t understand why you’re having to move a finger tbh, you’re too precious to him 😭
- “I had a nice time with you while I was here, if you ever wanna write to me, you can, doll” He honestly gets kinda sad when he knows he won’t be able to wake up to your pretty face (and tits) everyday.
David Webster: - Tbh you’re the real reason why he’s in the hospital for so damn long 🤣 like the moment he met you he just had to be around you at all times
- He stares a lot, and has a quite bit of dirty daydreams containing your chest and him 😭
- Honestly he didn’t even think he was a boobs guy until he met you, you really changed him for the better
Buck Compton: - He’s this emoji: 🤤, actually drooling at the mouth, you look so good to him.
- He’s never been happier to be in a hospital at the moment, your presence is enough to bring him back to full health tbh
- He’s super thankful in general that he has such a pretty and well rounded (see what I did there ) nurse taking care of him while he’s down
Thank you for your request! If you enjoyed, make sure to reblog or like! 🩷

WORD COUNT: 7.0K Words
You had a hard time forgetting things that you didn’t want to remember. For instance, when you and your sister had been in a car accident you wanted nothing more than to forget the painful memories of what had happened that fateful night. You were driving, your sister sat in the passenger seat. The two of you were heading home from the movies, at that point in time everything was as it should be. You had great parents, and your best friend was your older sister.
But it came crashing down when your car went over the side of the road. The car was totaled, no saving it. Your sister had escaped with minor injuries, just like the other driver. But you, you had not been so lucky. Neither of you were supposed to be out to begin with but you thought that if you and your sister went to see a movie maybe you could convince her that what she was assuming about you and her boyfriend hadn’t been the truth.
You should’ve known that your sister wouldn’t believe you, no matter how much you tried to bribe her, and tell her that you hadn’t slept with her boyfriend. Juni didn’t believe you, and as it turned out your parents seemed to take her sister. So when the car accident happened, Juni had another reason to hate you and wanted nothing to do with you and of course your parents followed Juni’s steps.
For the duration of the next few months you learned how to walk again, while you didn’t have your parents or sister by your side anymore you had Everly and August there every step of the way. Even Everly’s parents were cheering you on from the sidelines. It helped to a certain extent, but for the most part you felt like a burden to them, felt like you weren’t enough and after the words that Juni had uttered to your face you believed it.
But when he came into your life, it was like time stood still. Everything you had been searching for, everything you needed came from the man that your best friend had been obsessed with. Though her obsession was more along the lines of how good of an actor he was and how he’d done an excellent job bringing this character to life. You remembered it like it was yesterday, meeting the love of your life.
He was now your husband and a father to your beautiful son with a baby girl on the way. You met Joe at a comic con that you honestly didn’t want to go to. Not because you didn’t like meeting celebrities, but because this con was in your hometown and you dreaded going back to the place where your parents and sister remained. After getting through physical therapy to fix what had gone wrong in the car accident, you had left.
You moved out of the states and moved to Manchester. You had been living there for 6 years because running from the fallout of your family was a far better choice than dealing with it. Your sister was still convinced that you’d slept with her boyfriend, and she now hated you even more because you had become distracted. She believed that you were the cause of the car accident, that you were the cause for her “minor injuries”.
You don’t think you could ever forgive your sister for treating you the way that she had after the car accident. And you couldn’t forgive your dad and mom for abandoning you when you had needed them the most. You truly felt betrayed by the three of them and could no longer tolerate being in the same state as them. So when Everly called you and asked you to come back to America to go to a comic con because August (her girlfriend) couldn’t get out of work, you hesitantly agreed.
Everly was set to meet a few of the cast members from Stranger Things, this included one of the few new actors of the show. You were a fan of the show but hadn’t had time to catch up on it considering you were on a time crunch to get the second book in your fantasy series complete and turned in. You told your team that you would finish it before you left and turned it in for the revision, then you would fix whatever might need to be fixed on the manuscript.
They agreed and you were on your way back to your hometown to meet Joseph Quinn with Everly. While you didn’t like the idea of heading back home you thought it would also be good for you to get out so your ex could remove his things from your apartment (well shared apartment), but he had allowed you to keep it even going as far as getting his name removed from the lease. He was moving in with his new girlfriend, they had met at work and while he insisted nothing happened between them until the two of you broke up, you had your doubts.
Both Everly and August felt the same way, agreeing that he might have been lying and had been cheating on you. Then you somehow wound up in the mindset that this was your karma for what had happened between you and your sister (even though it was still false). After your phone call with Everly was over you had bought your plane ticket and began packing up. While you were there you’d be staying with Everly and August.
Whenever Everly wanted to see you, she and August would fly over to see you. But now here you are flying back to them for the first time in 6 years. When it was finally time, you two were with each other and heading to the con. You stayed by her side the entire day, both of you finally able to catch up in person after a few months of not seeing each other. Though sometimes you’d both be interrupted, as it turned out your first fantasy book was very popular in your home state which meant that a lot of people were trying to get pictures with you.
This was still all new to you, being this popular of a writer and being this recognized. Everly had to tell them that you were here for a fun day and not here to take pictures or sign anything. Eventually they left you two alone to enjoy the rest of your day at the con. While the two of you waited in line to meet and get an autograph with Joseph Quinn your mind was preoccupied with thoughts of how you could start the next book in your series now that book 2 was completed (for the most part).
When you had first found your agent and told them about the ideas you had for the romance fantasy series they were completely on board with it and supported your every decision. You were so proud of what you had done with the series so far and hoped that everyone would love the second book. Everly was talking your ear off and you would release a yeah to let her know you were listening but your mind just kept flying back to your book. She finally took notice of the way you posed yourself while the two of you waited in the line.
“Okay, what’s on your mind? Because it feels like you’re not actually here.” Everly said, pulling you deep from your thoughts.
You narrowed your eyes on your best friend, she really did know when something was bothering you or on your mind and you honestly hated it. You hated how easily she could read you. “I finished my second book before I flew over here. Now I’m just thinking about where to take the third book. I have some ideas but they don’t seem to fit right for this one.” You explained, keeping your eyes on Everly.
Everly couldn’t help but smile at you. “I have faith that you’ll get it figured out and it’ll be just as good as the first two if not better.” The optimism was evident in her voice.
“The second book hasn’t even come out yet, Eve.”
“I know. But I also know that it’s going to be an amazing book.” There was a smile that graced your lips, you hadn’t quite made it over to Joe’s table but he could see it form in the distance and it brightened his day up a little more.
“Yeah, you think so?” Even though you had been officially published for 2 years it still didn’t quite feel real. You had a hard time accepting the fact that people actually liked your book, and that they were excited for the next book to come out in 3 months.
“Ugh yeah, I know so!”
“What would I do without you as my best friend?” It was a running joke between the two of you but it never got old no matter how many times it had been said or used between the both of you.
“Pfft, I don’t know, maybe lose your mind.”
You playfully rolled your eyes, and soon enough the two of you were falling into a comfortable silence as you waited. As the two of you got closer to Joseph Quinn’s booth the quicker Everly got more excited to meet the actor. While she was having a momentary freak out before meeting him, you were having a momentary freak out about all the possible outcomes of running into your parents or your sister. This is the last thing you wanted to deal with. But then you got onto that path of what if they were here.
“You okay?” Everly questioned, seeing the change in look on your face switch from happiness to fear in the matter of seconds.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just thinking is all.” You were honestly being cryptic when you said that, you didn’t want her to know what you were actually thinking about.
“Are you going to see your parents and sister while you’re down here?” But clearly even being cryptic was enough for Everly to pick up on the fact that you were thinking about them when you didn’t want to be.
“Nope.” You popped the ‘P’ as you answered the first of her many interrogation questions.
“Why not? You can’t be mad at them forever.”
“Uh yes I can and I will.”
“Look, did you actually sleep with your sister’s boyfriend?” Everly asked, sometimes you believed that Everly believed your sister more than she believed you.
“Who’s side are you even on, Eve?”
“I’m on yours, but come on, if you didn’t sleep with your sister’s boyfriend then why can’t you be the bigger person and just forgive them. I’m sure they miss you.”
This prompted a dry laugh to fall from the back of your throat. “Right, they miss me so much that they’ve made an effort to call me and ask me to come see them. Instead of having my back they believe that I of all people would sleep with my sister’s ugly and toxic ass boyfriend whom she still happens to be with. I don’t think there’s a chance to salvage the relationship even if I want to. She didn’t want to believe me and my parents, they just stood there and watched it all crumble. Not to mention that none of them were by my side and I had to relearn how to walk again. I can’t go back there, I can’t.”
Everly could see the pain in your eyes, even though Joe didn’t mean to look he could see the way your eyes look. Suddenly he had this need to protect you from whatever horrors surrounded you. Everly could see how much it killed you to not have parents to talk to, to not have a relationship with your sister anymore.
But Everly wasn’t going to back down from getting you to see them. Everly’s parents kept in touch with your parents and from what they had told Everly, your mother wasn’t doing so well. Your best friend didn’t want you to miss out on not having a relationship with your family before it was too late. If only you knew what chaos would be coming your way.
“Just see them one time, please. It can be your dad, your mom, or even your sister. You don’t have to see them all together at the same time.”
“Can I think about it?” You eyed her hoping that she would just drop it, but you knew Everly this topic was something she would never drop. You saw the way that she wanted you to have a relationship with your family.
“When are you leaving?”
“Few days.”
“Great, we’ll go see your mom tomorrow.”
“Fine.” You released a grunt knowing that you wouldn’t be able to get past how pushy your best friend was. She smiled triumphantly while you looked like you had just lost the world cup. “You and August should move to Manchester.”
Shock replaced that smile on her face as she stared at you. “I couldn’t do that, we couldn’t do that. We have a life here, my parents are here.”
“I know. I’m sorry. I just thought it would be a cool idea. To be able to see you and August every day rather than once a year or something like that.”
Everly thought about your statement for a moment, she clicked her tongue. “Tell you what, I’ll talk to August about it tonight when we get home. Because believe me I would love nothing more than to be closer to my best friend. And honestly I think August and I could use a change of scenery. And maybe get a break from her parents.
“They still giving you two issues?” You asked.
“Her mother has been more open to the idea of us but her dad is still against us and trying everything in his power to get her to come home and go to church with them. I know she wants her parents in her life but she can’t put herself through that pain anymore. We’ve been talking about it for a while now so maybe she’ll be open to the idea of moving.”
“Maybe a chance will be good. But I don’t want you two to force yourselves to move to Manchester.
Everly gave a small nod of her head. “I know, but if we move over there it isn’t going to be because you forced it or we forced it, it'll be because we wanted it.”
You released a sigh and smiled at Everly as she smiled back at you. Your eyes eventually wandered around the building, sometimes falling onto Joseph Quinn. He would even return your gaze.
“I think Augie and I could use a change of scenery, I really do.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, but I will still talk to Augie about it and see what’s on her mind.”
“Okay, great. Just let me know what you both decide on.”
“I will.”
The two of you stopped talking just as you both came up to Joseph’s table. He sent a bright warm smile towards the both of you. However for the most part his warm brown eyes seemed to drift back to you, while Everly whispered her name to him so he could sign the post she had. Somehow your parents and sister made their way back into your mind. You were honestly worried that they would find out that you were back home.
You weren’t even picking up on the fact that Joseph had been staring at you. It wasn’t until Everly nudged her elbow into your side that you took notice of his eyes on you. You felt your face heating up and you tried to look away but you kept wanting to look back at him.You wanted to spend your days just staring into his eyes.
“I’m sorry, what happened?” You asked, the confusion evident on your face. He looked back at Everly who was staring at you then at him.
“Sorry, she zones out sometimes.” Everly mentioned.
He smiled at you, “do you want anything sighed, love?” His voice was so sweet and music to your ears that you really wanted to hear his voice forever.
“Oh, I’m only here for moral support since her girlfriend couldn’t be here.” You muttered looking anywhere but the man that sat in front of you. He started talking to you, but you felt too panicked to hear or say anything else. “Actually, I’m gonna head to the bathroom and then I’ll meet you outside when you’re finished. Take your time, Eve.”
Before she had a chance to reply to you, you had already left the area and were headed towards the bathroom. Everly turned back towards the actor as he stared at her.
“Sorry about her. She’s not really a fan of being back here. Honestly, I think she’s ready to head back to Manchester. Being home just brings back some bad memories. Anyway, thanks for this.”
He gave a nod of his head and watched Everly exit out of the line. After going to the bathroom you pushed through the front doors and walked over to the side of the building, and sat down at the tables. Pulling out your phone you unlocked it and went to your gallery, pulling up some old photos with your sister and your parents.
Maybe Everly was right, maybe you should be the bigger person and apologize for everything that happened. But you still felt that you shouldn’t be the one to apologize, that it should be your sister and your parents as you had done nothing wrong. As of right now Everly’s family was the only family you had but even then you still felt like a burden to them.
“Mind if I join you?” A voice questioned from behind you. You were startled, placing a hand over your chest. When you looked behind you, there stood Joseph Quinn, a cigarette between his fingers and his security guard not far from the two of you but still far enough that he probably couldn’t hear the conversation.
“Sure, why not.” You turned back towards the phone and continued to wipe through the pictures.
“Is that your family?” He asked.
You looked at him from the corner of your eyes before you gave him a confirming nod of your head. “Yeah, that’s my parents and my sister.” You paused then proceeded to tell him your name.
“You already know mine, but please call me Joe.” The two of you shook hands, and you couldn’t help the smile that washed over your face. That was the first time you and Joe had met and you remembered it like it was yesterday.
───── ❝ ◂ ❚ ⊱ꕥ⊰ ❚ ▸ ❞ ─────
The world seemed to burn brighter when you and Joe started talking more outside the con that you met at. He made you feel something you didn’t think you could possibly ever feel. You hadn’t felt this loved in a long time, not since the events that transpired with your family. Today happened to be a somewhat difficult day for you. Everly and August had come over today and had taken notice of the way you had been acting.
It was your birthday and it had always been a struggle every year to never be able to talk to your parents or your sister when you turned another year older. Even though you had gone to see your mom like you had told Everly you would, there seemed to be no change in the way she acted towards you. Everly had texted Joe to let him know that you weren’t exactly in the greatest mood today.
You had spent most of the day in your office planning out your next book in the series. Your second book had been published and was doing amazing. Fans were expecting the next book in the series and honestly you were excited to get back into the process of writing. There was a knock on your door but you were too in the zone to even acknowledge the knock.
Joe had his hand on the door knob as he slowly opened the door. He knew it was your birthday but he had been warned by you, Everly, and August that you didn’t like to celebrate it anymore.
“Love?” He called out, you heard him and gave a soft “hmm” as you continued to type the words down on your laptop. He opened the door a little more and walked in. After closing the door to give you both the privacy that you knew you’d need, you finished typing the last sentence then looked up at your boyfriend. “How are you feelin’?”
“I’m fine, baby.” Joe could hear the irritation in your voice, but it dropped when you said “baby”. His brown eyes were soft as he walked over to you and sat on the edge of your desk. Joe grasped a hold of your hands pulling them away from your laptop and holding them in his.
“You don’t sound fine, my love.” You hated how well he knew more about your emotions than you did sometimes. “What’s been going on in that head of yours?”
You exhaled and dropped your head resting it on his thigh. He released one of your hands and with his now free hand it fell into your hair and rested on top of your head. “My dad called, he left a voicemail but I haven’t listened to it.” You hesitated before saying the next set of words. “I’m scared.”
Joe understood that you had an estranged relationship with your parents and sister, he knew everything about what had happened. You had told him how you often felt that you should just go back and apologize even though you didn’t do anything. You still carried that with you even now, all these years later. It was part of the reason why he hadn’t pushed you into meeting his parents and the rest of his family.
He knew it was a big step for you and you’d do it when you were ready. They were already so excited to meet you in person but they understood that you weren’t ready. You had talked to them a few times over the phone when Joe was having a conversation but other than that nothing further has happened. You didn’t think you’d be ready to meet them in person until you fixed what happened between you and your family. Joe gently moved his hand through your hair, his touch comforting you in your time of need.
“Do you want to listen to it while I’m here with you?”
He kept his gaze soft as you lifted your head to stare back at home with slightly glazed eyes. Any moment you felt like you would start crying, those glazed eyes would turn into actual tears that would stain your face. But you need to be strong for yourself. Everly and August sat in the living room waiting and hoping that Joe would be able to get through to you. Your boyfriend pulled you over to the couch and you sat down next to each other.
You were staring down at it, not moving to unlock it. “Take all the time you need. You don’t need to rush it.” You don’t know what you did to deserve Joe, you really didn’t. You knew deep down that you weren’t meant to be with him forever but you were so thankful he had come into your life when he did.
“I don’t wanna do this alone anymore.” You whispered softly as the tears started to trickle down your cheeks, eventually coming to the edge of your chin. Some fell down your neck, while a few managed to fall onto your pants. You looked away from Joe, not able to stare at him, afraid that he would get up and walk out of this room out of the apartment and out of your life for good.
“Hey, look at me, darlin’.” Joe’s voice was calm all things considered. You slowly turned back to look at him. His face was soft, nothing about his posture indicated that he was going to leave you but you still didn’t want to believe it.
“You don’t have to do this alone anymore. I am here, and I don’t plan on leaving you behind.” He stopped himself, he wanted to say those three words that you two had been dancing around for the last few months. But he wasn’t sure if it was the right time for it.
“Just tell her already for crying out loud!” Everly shouted out.
You looked at him in confusion as you wiped the tears away from your face. “Tell me what?” You asked.
Joe hesitated for a few seconds, “I-I love you. I’ve loved you from the very moment I saw you at the con with Everly. And I don’t plan to stop loving you.” Joe leaned towards you, his nose grazing yours.
“I love you too.” You smiled softly at him. You and Joe laughed when you heard Everly and August scream in joy at the words that had now fallen from both your lips.
“It’s about damn time!” Everly shouted.
“Leave them be, Eve.” August’s voice was almost a whisper as she talked to her girlfriend but you and Joe could still hear her.
You looked down at your unlocked phone, then looked back at Joe. “I’m ready.” Joe nodded his head, you pulled up the voicemail, then you hit play on the most recent message that was from your dad.
“Hi, sweets, I know it's uh… been a while since we talked to you and before I get to the main reason I’m calling you, I need you to know that we are so sorry. We should’ve been there to help you recover and that wasn’t fair to you.” There was a pause on your father’s end and you could hear someone else talking to him, it could either be your mom or your sister. “I didn’t want to tell you this especially on your birthday, I need you to come home for a few days, maybe longer. You can bring anyone you want but it’s not under the best circumstances. So please call me when you get this. I love you so much, and happy birthday, angel.” The voicemail stopped, but you were aching to know what he was talking about.
You quickly moved your fingers around to call your dad back. “I’m going to call him back, I mean that’s the right way to go, right?” You looked at Joe, your voice hesitant as you asked the question.
“You do what you think you need to do, love. But I think you already know what you want to do.”
Your finger hung over your dad’s contact name. You were hesitating to say the least but you knew it was something you had to do, Joe was right about that. You closed your eyes for a brief moment going over all the possible outcomes of what your father could possibly want to tell you. Did something happen to him, was he okay? Did something happen to your sister, or your mother? Or someone else on your side of the family. The list was endless. You finally pressed the call button and placed it on speaker so Joe could listen in as well. After the first line rang your father’s voice crashed to your ears.
“Hi, dad.” Your voice was quiet, and panic was running through it. This was the first contact you had with him in a few years.
“Sweets, thank god you called back. I need you to come home, okay?” You could hear the sadness in his voice, which truly meant that something had happened.
“Why? What’s happened?”
“It’s your mom. She uh… passed away last night.” Your father started to break down. The phone fell from your hand and Joe was quick to catch it. He set it on the table, then he turned back towards you and pulled you into his embrace as a sob ripped through your throat. Everly and August were now standing at the door, eyes on you as you and your father both cried.
“How did it happen?” Everly asked for you, knowing very well that would be your next question.
“It was a car accident.” A new voice ran through your ears, it was your sister. No shock she was there with your dad being the strong one. Or at least trying to be. Joe held onto you tighter, his chin resting on top of your head as you rested your head on his chest and cried into it.
“I’ll be home on the next flight.” You spoke through tears.
───── ❝ ◂ ❚ ⊱ꕥ⊰ ❚ ▸ ❞ ─────
He was there for you every moment, never once leaving your side while you grieved the loss of your mother with your father and sister. It was a beautiful day on the day of your mothers funeral, laying her to rest on a day such as this made it hurt slightly less. The entire time the pastor had been talking you were stuck in your head thinking about all the times you had ignored phone calls from your mother. If you had just picked up and said hello maybe you could’ve had a better relationship with her, now you know you’ll never get the chance to build one with her again.
You hadn’t talked much since you, Joe, Everly, and August arrived back home. This had been the first time Joe had been here that wasn’t for a con and it was so different being here under these circumstances. Everly was worried to high heaven about you and August was worrying about her worrying about you. The two knew how you could get when you felt like you were drowning in the water.
Your head rested on Joe’s shoulder as tears fell down your face. Everly was holding onto your free hand, it was a tight grip one that allowed you to stay grounded. But Joe was really holding you there. He had been there to be a shoulder to cry on since you had found out about the news of your mother, you realized in this moment, this exact moment that he could be the person you could fall into when something was going on and you didn’t want to let that go.
You looked around at the people that were there, that knew your mother. But your eyes landed on your sister. You wanted to say she was glaring at you, but she wasn’t. She was looking at you with a look of sympathy on her face and a smudge of regret. But it disappeared when she noticed you staring at her. You pulled your eyes away from her and looked back towards the casket.
“I’m gonna go talk to my sister after this.” You whispered, but loud enough for Everly and Joe to hear you. The two exchanged a look with each other before their eyes fell onto you.
“Are you sure? Do you want one of us to come with you?” Everly asked.
“Yes, I’m sure. And no, I need to talk to her alone. It’d be better that way anyway.”
Joe placed a kiss on your hair, “whatever you need to do, love, we’ll be here waiting for you.” His sweet words made your heart thump loudly in your chest. You still weren’t sure how you’d gotten lucky with him, but you were so happy to have him in your life, happier than you had been in a long time.
As your mother’s casket started to go down in her grave everyone started to disperse, they would be heading back to your parents house for a little get together. Something your mother always loved doing. She had always loved having people in her home, she wanted everyone who stepped foot in her house to feel loved. Though it felt differently when she had blindsided you by taking your sister’s side.
You separated yourself from Joe, Everly, and August and walked over to your sister. Her boyfriend, the one you had been accused of sleeping with was standing next to her. Your father was talking to one of your mother’s brother and sister. You walked past the three of them coming to a stop in front of your sister and her boyfriend.
“Hi, Juni.” You said, remaining calm even though you wanted to scream at her for what she had done.
“Please, don’t call me that.” Juniper said, glaring daggers at you.
“Right, sorry.” You winced after the word left your lips.
“Can you give a few minutes to talk alone, please?” Juniper questioned her boyfriend. He looked between the two of you and gave a nod of his head. He placed a kiss on Mallory’s hair and walked away from them joining your father, Uncle and Aunt.
“How are you doing, Juniper?” Joe watched from afar, your hands behind your back as you tried to stay calm.
“I’m okay, what about you?”
“Yeah, I’m doing as good as I could be. Did you get to say goodbye to mom?”
“No I didn’t, we had an argument before she left.” You didn’t like where this was going, not one bit. “Mom, she knew that you knew she was dying but for some reason she wanted to spend whatever time left she had with you because she missed you. And I told her that she didn’t need to go. It’s your fault mom is dead, just like that car accident was your fault.”
You shook your head, the tears falling down your face again. “No, what happened to mom wasn’t my fault. And that car accident wasn’t mine, you were the one driving, not me, I just wanted to get you away from everyone so I could convince you that I didn’t sleep with your boyfriend. If we hadn’t even gone out that night…”
“What? You would’ve slept with my boyfriend some more?” Joe stepped forward ready to run to you but Everly and August both grabbed a hold of his arm stopping him before he could go.
“I didn’t sleep with him, Juniper. He’s a fucking pig for crying out loud and the fact that you’re still with him, well that’s on you. Not me, as for the car accident, you can blame me all you want but you weren’t the one who had to stay in the car and wait for rescue to get you out, you weren’t the one who had to spend months learning how to walk again. You weren’t the one who didn’t have her family in her corner because her sister somehow convinced their mother and father that I was the slut.”
Everyone was staring at you now, but you didn’t care you needed this to come out. You needed to move on and you felt this was the only way you could possibly do so.
“I-I’m sorry.” Your sister whispered looking down at the ground.
You scoffed. “If you were sorry, you would’ve told mom and dad the truth, you would’ve told them that your best friend was the one who slept with your boyfriend, not me. And the fact that you knew but chose to put the blame on me then refused to fix it when I was trying everything. Yeah some sister you are. And you have no right to blame me for mom’s accident, it’s not my fault that she wanted to come see me.” You turned away and started to walk away from your sister. She had tears in her eyes as she followed after you.
“Please, don’t do this.”
“Don’t do what? You hurt me, in more ways than one. You did, me walking away is something you could’ve avoided if you just fucking listened to me. If you had just let me explain myself better to mom and dad. You didn’t even give me a chance Juni. I was just left as bait for the sharks.” You went to turn away but then you stopped in your tracks and turned back towards your sister. “I don’t ever want you to contact me again.”
You held yourself up high, your dad was begging you to not do this but you had to. When you made it to Joe you collapsed into his arms. He caught you and turned around with you walking back towards the car.
“Let’s get you home love.” You nodded your head, Everly and August followed right behind you. After that day you never saw your sister, your father had contacted you a few days later to apologize and you told him that when you were ready you’d talk to your sister.
When you and Joe got married you had called your sister and she had apologized to you for everything that had happened. You discovered that after you had left the funeral she had broken up with her boyfriend and told dad what had actually happened. You accepted her apology but told her that she would have to earn her trust again. But you wanted her at your wedding so for the day you would set everything aside so she could be there. Joe was there even when you didn’t want him to be there.
And even now you couldn’t be more thankful to have him in your life, to be able to call him your husband and the father of your children. Whenever you needed to fall into Joe, he was there for you just like you were for him. Your sister and her husband were visiting you and Joe, Everly and August were over as well, they had brought their daughter with them to have a little playdate with your son. You sat in the room watching the kids play, making sure they got along. Your hand rested on top of your baby bump, a smile on your lips.
Joe stood at the door watching you, seeing you glowing. He stepped into the room and placed his hand on top of yours. “How are my girls doing?” He asked, you turned your head to him, your smile growing bigger.
“We’re doing good. How’s everyone else?” You asked.
“Good, you’re dad’s here now. So your sister is ready to share her surprise with everyone.”
“Well, almost everyone. She told me what it was. Can you help me up?” You asked. Joe nodded his head, stood up, his hands fit into yours. He pulled you up and closed the space between the two of you, his lips fell onto yours and you kissed him back.
“Ew, mommy, daddy, stop.” Your son cried out, the two of you laughed and you looked at the children still in the room.
“Come on you two, Auntie Juni has something she wants to share with everyone.” Joe called out holding his hands out to the kids. You watched Joe pick the two up and walk out of the room. You followed behind him heading back into the living room. Juni grabbed a hold of your hand and pulled you to the side.
“I can’t do this.” Juni whispered, staring at you with panicked blue eyes.
“It’s okay Juni, you’re gonna be okay. You got this. I’ll be right next to you when you tell them.” You smiled brightly at your sister. There were two things she would be telling everyone, but only one of them you knew about because she had gone to you in her time of need. Juni looked back at you after the two of you had walked to the center of the room. You smiled at her and gave a nod. Your eyes found Joe, your son was sitting in his lap, the cutest sight you could ever say.
“So first order of business.” Juni said, looking at everyone. Her eyes found the man she had fallen in love with. “Josh and I eloped, we just thought it was best for the two of us.” Shock and happiness washed through everyone, they all smiled and cheered at the news.
“We will be having a small ceremony though for everyone since you couldn’t get a wedding.” Josh mentioned.
“Onto the next order of business. I uh, I’ve been keeping this secret from everyone because I was scared. I didn’t think I was cut out for this next part of my life, but having Josh in it and all of you, I know I can do this.” Juni looked back at you again, you walked up to her and grabbed a hold of her hand holding it in yours. “I’m pregnant.” Juni said excitedly. You wrapped your arm around your sister, a bubbly smile on your face.
Joe had seen you happy a handful of times, at your wedding, when you found out you were pregnant with your son, when you gave birth to your son, when you found out you were pregnant again, and now standing with your sister as she told everyone the happy news. You stepped away from your sister and walked over to Joe sitting down next to him. Your son climbed out of his dad’s lap and ran over to his Aunt and Uncle.
“Thank you.” You whispered, grabbing a hold of Joe’s hand and pulling it up to your lips to kiss it.
“For what, darling?” Joe asked as he leaned back and wrapped an arm around you.
You moved back into his chest and allowed your head to fall into his neck. “For allowing me to fall into you when I needed an anchor.”
“I’d do it over and over again if it meant you’re happy. I love you.” He placed a kiss on your hair.
“I love you too!” The two of you watched from the couch as everyone laughed and talked about the news of two new babies that would be joining the family.

Inevitable Sparks
part one - part two - part three - part four - part five
Oh, how the tables had turned.
Where before Wesley was always made to shut up about you, now it was Wesley who had to tell Joe that not everything he'd tell him involved or surrounded you.
"I'm actually not feeling great, I think the sushi I had last night was–" "Did you go for sushi with her?" Joe interrupted. "No..." Wesley narrowed his eyes at Joe. "I went with my dad." "Oh... yea, of course. Do you happen to know– like, does she like sushi?"
Wesley rolled his eyes at his friend who apparently, when it came to you, operated like he was in primary school still.
From a very specific angle, it was cute.
From all the other ways to look at it, it was mostly annoying and frankly a little pathetic, Wesley thought.
You and Joe had only met the one time at your flat, and you'd talked for a little while before you'd mingled with your other friends and had left Joe to join Wesley on the balcony from where he could just stare at you through the window.
You had seen Joe stare. You'd definitely noticed. But you'd also done your very best to pretend you hadn't been aware of it at all.
And Wesley had, to his dismay, seen all of it from up close and concluded that you were both terrible at this.
"I don't know, man. Ask her yourself." Wesley said, hoping to not become the middle man for the two of you, but entirely aware that, he probably already was.
"I would, if you gave me her number..." Joe tried, eyebrows high up on his face, giving his friend questioning eyes.
Wesley laughed, sat up and tried to imitate his friend's face as best he could. "Can you pass her this note to see if she like likes me?"
It was a dig at Joe, but it made him laugh heartily anyway.
"She's taking me to an exhibition tomorrow," Wesley then revealed. "You could book yourself a ticket and tag along, if you want," he shrugged, knowing you wouldn't mind it.
You'd more than not mind it, actually. Wesley was getting this bullshit from both sides.
"No, come on," Joe waved a hand at Wesley, frowning. "I wouldn't want to intrud– what time you guys heading over?" Joe cut in on himself as he'd whipped his phone out to check his schedule, making Wesley shake his head at him.
Joe was an idiot.
Meeting Wesley outside Kensington High Street station, he had let you know he was bringing a surprise, and you'd expected maybe a crunchie bar, or a hot cup of coffee.
You choked on your own spit when you saw him emerge from the station with Joe by his side.
"Joe loves the Design Museum," Wesley said when in your earshot, obviously sarcastic, but all three of you were smiling.
You were all entirely too aware of the situation at hand, but none of you called a spade a spade and just let the truth float in the air in between you.
"Yea? You into ASMR, Joe?" you asked, challenging him slightly.
Joe blinked his eyes and searched for the right words, the noises coming from his mouth a stumbling mess of various vowels.
Obviously, he had no idea what he was in for.
"We'll see, won't we?" Joe eventually replied, and you saw Wesley behind him with a furrowed brow and one corner of his mouth pulled out, shaking his head, and it made you giggle.
And Wesley had been right.
Joe hated every second of the Weird Sensation Feels Good exhibition; an immersive experience where you got to both experience and create ASMR-type visuals and audios.
You lived for this kind of stuff, and had paid for Wesley's ticket after being unable to talk him into tagging along without you getting it for him.
When you'd entered, you'd distanced yourself a little from the boys and wandered from padded space to padded space, soaking up information, learning about how brains worked, what triggers there were and eventually, you sat down at a table that held microphones, headphones and an array of brushes to use.
When you sat down and placed the clunky headphones over your ears, you saw Wesley and Joe wander in.
Wesley immediately gravitated towards an installation of hanging bags holding different substances to squish and grab, all of them meant to be satisfying.
Joe, on the other hand, saw the chair opposite you was empty, and made his way over to sit down.
"Hi," you said softly, smiling, unaware of the volume of your voice since you weren't able to hear yourself.
Joe just smiled and reached for the other pair of headphones to put on.
In front of you were two microphones, and you used a finger to tap at one. You heard nothing, but saw Joe flinch at the sound and it made you chuckle softly.
As playful payback, Joe did the same to the other, tapping it harder than you did, making you laugh louder as the noise of it consumed everything.
You were the first to take a brush, and you swiped it over your own microphone first before moving it to brush at his. Joe ducked his head into his shoulders at the sound and frowned deeply; his whole body cringed and he was quick to push your hand away from his mic.
"Is that meant to relax me?" Joe's angered confusion made you laugh.
You gave it another try, enjoying how strongly Joe reacted to it.
"That's infuriating," he concluded, but took hold of a brush himself, giving it another try at his own microphone, looking at it with disgust painting his features.
"Hate that. Hate it, hate it."
Joe had to take the headphones off.
You were well aware you were in a museum that was meant to solely relax people, but there were giggles stuck in your throat that you couldn't keep in. A blush creeping up your neck towards the apples of your cheeks that you couldn't stop.
Then Joe moved to your microphone, and you were immediately triggered.
Triggered the nice way.
The noise of the soft bristles against the mic sent tingles from your scalp, all the way down your spine, and for some reason, they ended at the backs of your thighs.
Fuck.
That was nice.
Too nice.
It was relaxing, but it was awkward, because this was Joe's doing and he was looking at you, intrigued at the effect it had.
"Is that working?" you could see the smile tugging at his cheeks, and you gave an embarrassed nod.
"Is it actually?" Joe's open-mouthed smile grew.
It was far too intimate a moment for the two of you to be having, Joe holding power over bodily responses you had like that in a public setting with Wesley in the room?
Not okay.
You looked over at Wesley who was then stood at a different headphone station and found him practically drooling as he was listening to something with his eyes closed.
"I think Wesley's too into this," you said as you removed your headphones and pointed, making Joe turn in his seat and suppress a laugh.
"That's... that's not right. Entirely inappropriate. Wesley, mate! Get a room, just for yourself,"
You noticed how every single thing Joe said made you blush and giggle, and you silently scolded yourself for it.
Get yourself together, woman.
You weren't 12 and not everything Joe said was funny.
Be an adult.
A grown up.
Behave.
You were lucky, because Joe hadn't even noticed in the slightest that your ears were glowing.
Oh, he'd noticed the giggles, but he had also been out to get them from you, so it didn't feel overdone.
He also didn't have time to think about what you were thinking, because every time he got close enough to talk to you, his mind ran at a million miles per hour to figure out how to work your phone number into the conversation.
What subtle comment or question could fall from his lips that would have you reach over for his phone to put your number in?
Add to that the fact that this museum held a lot of headphone-wearing and not a lot of room chitchat.
So instead, he settled for enjoying the view of you, for now.
A little while later, you had outstretched yourself on a grey fuzzy art piece that was meant to look like the inside of a brain next to Wesley, both in headphones, looking at a screen.
You were relaxed.
This exhibition was definitely living up to the name of it; it was all weird sensations, and it all felt good.
From across the room, Joe looked at the two of you, and he stared long enough for Wesley to eventually feel his friend's eyes on him.
Wesley furrowed his brow at Joe when they made eye contact, and a silent nonverbal conversation ensued.
He gave his chin a tiny nod upwards, asking Joe what he wanted from him. Joe copied his friend's frown, and nodded his head to the side, meaning for Wesley to move away from you. To make space for Joe.
Wesley looked at you for a second, and you seemed completely enthralled by what you were experiencing.
He decided that Joe wasn't allowed to disturb you.
You hadn't taken Wesley to this exhibition just so Joe could flirt with you, and in that moment, he felt protective over you the way he'd feel protective over a younger sister.
Wesley looked back at Joe and gave his head a tiny shake. It made Joe drop his head and groan in defeat.
Maybe you could go for a coffee after.
Or if he was lucky, a pint or two.
Joe could maybe get your phone number then.
Except he didn't, because the more he thought about it, the more he let his nerves grow until they formed a giant mountain Joe couldn't compete against.
Even when two people got up in a packed tube and you and Joe were quick to snag the seats, Joe still didn't muster up enough courage to casually ask for it.
And so when you had to part ways because you had to change for another line to make your way home, it was a quick simple 'see you later' for Joe, and the quickest of quick hugs for Wesley before you stepped off the train.
Wesley plopped down next to Joe and slapped him hard on the knee.
"Great job mate, glad you got her number," Wesley joked as Joe looked out the window behind him, giving you a small wave as the tube took off and he got a last glimpse of you walking down the platform.
"Just– could you please just give it to me?" Joe pleaded as he turned back to his friend, making Wesley laugh loudly.
"Absolutely not. I've introduced the two of you to each other. I've done my part."
However, what Wesley hadn't anticipated, is that you also needed Wesley's help.
The second you had service on your phone, you couldn't help but text him.
"saw you take a pic of us, i need it", quickly followed by, "for scientific purposes obvs".
The second Wesley had service on his phone, he read your message but waited until he was away from Joe to reply.
Wesley had, in fact, snuck a picture of you sat together on the tube. It was slightly blurry, and you'd both been looking up to check the tube map across from you - unnecessarily so, you both knew where you were going and where you needed to get off.
When Wesley sent the pic, you followed it up with, "give me his number", and Wesley let out the loudest most annoyed sigh he could pull from his lungs.
You were both useless.
He took a minute to think it over. He'd been so adamant he wasn't going to give Joe your number that it almost felt wrong to just hand you his. At the same time, he'd had enough of Joe's pestering and didn't need your harassment added into the mix. So, he thought of something to put all three of you out of misery.
You were zooming in on the blurry photo of you and Joe on the tube, thinking what a terrible photographer Wesley was, but how good the two of you looked together, when suddenly you got a notification.
You'd been added to a group chat called "two halfwits make a whole" and, curiously, the image of it was the one you'd just been staring at.
"What the..."
You opened the group chat and were met with an empty chat screen, Wesley's name and an unknown number at the top.
Joe.
Then a message from Wesley popped up.
"Here you go, idiots"
Followed swiftly by the notice, "Wesley left".
