ooh would you share any of the fics you read obsessively and always return to?
Excellent question thank you for asking!!!! I tend to read pretty much anything I can get my hands on, but I prefer re-reading stories that make me feel a very specific kind of pain lmao. If I read a story that has a moment where I feel an ache in my left arm and my chest in general - which is, of course, where all the love and sorrow lives inside my body - then you can bet I'll be rereading it again and again. Here are some of those fics and the moment that make my body ache.
where it bent in the undergrowth by abcooper Fucking banger right here. Incredible, 10 out of 10. I always have a weak spot for a morally compromised and confused Lena. -Pain moment: Lena freezes, and then rolls to the side. “I’m sorry,” she says distantly. “I shouldn’t have done that. I... thought maybe you wanted me to.” A Ribbon in Time also by abcooper I think abcooper has a very interesting way of writing supercorp. Their approach to Lena always allows her to be more grey in her morality and values, which creates a richer, more interesting story. This one has such fun dark themes and nuanced pain, with many pain points. -One pain moment: This is a set-up, Kara realizes. Lena asked her to pick up this package specifically because she needed Kara in her office for this.
where there's desire, there's gonna be a flame by Valkyrees the moral of the lesson so far is that I love a Lena that's a little evil actually!!!! This fic delights me
-Pain moment: “So you said that to save me from feeling embarrassed?” Lena snorts. “No one said anything about love. Your articles are just the highlight of my week. It’d be like if your favorite YouTuber fell off the face of the Earth. Or died suddenly, by your own hands.”
Where Lamps Go to Die by WastedOn God this fic fucking SLAPS. I feel it so deeply in my chest so many times. I love a plot that tricks me with its silly goofy premise only to smack me in the face with pain and love. It's always a top five for me. - One of many pain moments: They hug. Lena relaxes into it, then says "I'm so worried about you" into Kara's shoulder. It's simultaneously the best and worst feeling in the world.
it's a boy! by bs13 This fic is my white whale. I yearn for this fic to be finished with every fiber of my being, but it seems very unlikely. The author replied to my desperate comments saying the muse has fled for this one, so I will just long for it forever. It's fine. -Biggest pain moment: “Hi, baby,” Lena breathes against his head. “I missed you.”

Lena has her theories. Like a good scientist, she devises “scientific” experiments to collect data
it’s just convenient this is more exhilarating than outright asking the question to the appropriate person: is Kara Danvers a boob or an ass girl?
Let it be known, this popped into my mind because of your reblog of Supergirl daydreaming about Lena in the throes of passion (likely by Kara’s own doing 😉💋)
okay first, we have to admit that the creator of that post blessed us all. second, this was hilarious to write. I had so much fun. here you go:
It's for Science (Supercorp)
by marinawolf
Tumblr media
Lena Luthor, the scientific genius and CEO of L-Corp and Catco, found herself embroiled in a daring experiment. The subject? Her best friend and secret crush, Kara Danvers. Lena was determined to discover one crucial piece of information: was Kara a boob or an ass girl?
Of course, Lena couldn't just outright ask Kara about her preferences. No, that would be far too direct and potentially awkward. Instead, she decided to employ her scientific mind to devise a series of "experiments" to collect data and draw her conclusions.
It all started innocently enough. Lena strategically chose her outfits, opting for outfits that accentuated her assets. She made sure to occasionally drop something in front of Kara, bending down slowly to retrieve the item. Lena even went so far as to discreetly unbutton the top of her shirt, providing a subtle glimpse of cleavage whenever she was around Kara. For science, of course.
But Kara, being Kara, was oblivious to Lena's attempts. Lena had, however, garnered the attention of many others in her office, who were captivated by her attempts, much to her dismay. However, Lena was determined to provoke a reaction from her friend, and she wasn't about to give up.
One day, during a lunch break at CatCo, Lena brought in an array of donuts. She strategically placed a tray of donuts right in front of Kara, leaning over Kara's desk, giving her a full view down her unbuttoned shirt. Lena's heart raced as she watched Kara's eyes widen with delight at the sight of the delicious treats.
Lena waited with bated breath, hoping for a telling reaction.
To Lena's dismay, Kara simply reached for a chocolate-covered donut without a second thought. Lena tried to hide her disappointment.
Later, at the DEO, after Lena had "dropped" her pen in front of Kara, Alex sidled up to her, sipping a coffee.
"Why are you bending down like a stripper in front of my sister? That's like the third time tonight."
Lena flushed her mind suddenly unable to formulate an explanation.
"Don't worry," Alex continued, laughing, "She notices. The first time, she actually walked into a glass wall. Luckily it was reinforced, so it didn't shatter"
Lena's heart leapt but still, she wasn't convinced. She hadn't seen Kara react at all, and as a scientist, she needed to see her results first hand to believe it.
But she refused to give up. She couldn't let a few failed experiments deter her from her quest for knowledge. It was for science, and she was committed to science.
It was during a cozy movie night at Lena's penthouse that she decided to execute her most daring experiment yet. As they settled onto the couch, Lena discreetly unbuttoned her shirt, exposing a tantalizing hint of cleavage. She observed Kara out of the corner of her eye, trying to gauge her reaction without being too obvious.
To her delight, Lena noticed Kara stealing glances her way throughout the movie. The sight of Kara's eyes lingering on her filled Lena's heart with a mixture of excitement and nervous anticipation. Perhaps her experiment was indeed yielding results.
As the movie progressed, Lena's heart raced, waiting for the perfect opportunity to reveal itself. She couldn't concentrate on the film, her mind consumed by the thrilling prospect of finally getting an answer to her burning question.
Just when Lena thought she couldn't wait any longer, Kara's hand brushed against hers in the darkness of the room. The touch sent a jolt of electricity through Lena's veins, and she turned to look at Kara, their eyes locking in an intense gaze.
Without a moment's hesitation, Kara leaned in and pressed her lips against Lena's, kissing her with a desperate longing that took Lena by surprise. The intensity of the moment left them breathless as they finally broke apart, their foreheads resting against each other.
"I've been dying to do that all week," Kara admitted, her voice filled with a mix of desire and relief.
Lena's heart fluttered, her experiment having unexpectedly led her to this extraordinary outcome.
But still, she didn't know: Was Kara a boob or an ass girl?
--
Months later, as Lena lay in bed, her arms wrapped around a sleepy Kara, she finally asked the question.
And Kara's response made her heart flutter.
"I'm a you girl."

18, 19, 27, 38 for supercorp!!💙
18. What are they like when they're drunk? How do they act together? & when 1 is drunk, while the other one's sober? okay we've seen both of them drunk before, and i feel like that rings true for me. kara is a silly and giggly and probably very touchy feely (with lena only) and lena strikes me as a depressed drunk, especially since we've really only seen her get truly drunk was when she thought she poisoned the city's children with lead. however, i think if she gets drunk with kara she is also probably a little bolder, maybe drops her filter more. she's flirty and much more suggestive. if only one of them is drunk, i think sober lena would be exasperated but also extremely enamored by drunk kara. she'd be so SOFT with her and have a smile on her face the entire time, even when she drags her home to get some rest. and if kara is the sober one, it depends on what mood lena is in. if she's being suggestive, kara would be a blushing, stammering mess until she can get them home where she can actually act on what she wants to do in response. and if drunk lena is depressed, she'd instantly switch to protector mode, adamantly reminding lena of her goodness and threatening to throw anyone who hurts her into space.
19. What do they fight about most often? (Alternative: what was their biggest fight?) i mean, their biggest fight will always be the fallout after kara's identity reveal. and honestly, i think it probably remains the thing they fight about the most for a long time. wounds like that don't just go away, even if you've talked and reconciled and moved past it. sometimes it just hits you (also i'm a SLUT for angst). if we're going with a version of events where kara tells lena in 2x15 (which is when i think kara had the perfect opportunity), i genuinely don't know what they'd fight most about. i've been sitting here thinking about different possibilities, but honestly it feels like they wouldn't really argue over small stuff more than a few times. after that, they just learn to compromise and move forward. (if you're curious, my top choices in that department were food and tactical strategies, but it just felt weird thinking they'd continuously fight over either of those things)
27. Craziest place they had sex? oh, hands down in the air. maybe in space.
38. If/when they have kids, what is their parenting style (or pets-who does what)? hmmm i think i'm gonna go against what i think most people expect and say, in terms of like a "good cop, bad cop" scenario, lena is good cop and kara is bad cop. kara is a fierce protector and it's something she never got to do with kal. and this is their child. she is going to make sure that kid is safe above all else. meanwhile, lena came from a family that never showed love or affection. she'd absolutely be the one to say yes to everything. she'd be more inclined to let their kid have fun and be a kid without the burden of any sort of expectation. not that i think kara wouldn't also shower the kid with copious amounts of love, but she just usually has to be the one to put her foot down.

hi! sorry i have a bunch of questions about kara if that's okay :) sorry if this bothers you, i am trying to learn!
what comic/graphic novel would you strongly recommend for someone who's trying to get into comic book kara (as someone who's only seen cw show)
also what is her most recognised as being acceptable and correct origin? because everywhere says different, and it's really annoying. sorry if this bothers you, i just want to know fr so i can understand her properly
also, thoughts on woman of tomorrow by tom king? is it a good comic or nah?
who are her earth parents if not jeremiah and eliza?
also one more thing sorry haha. thoughts on supercorp - kara/lena. comic or cw version, is it a ship you think has a cool dynamic or not?
thanks!!
dw I'm not bothered at all by the questions :) I love talking about Kara <3
If you're coming from the CW show and want to get into comic Kara I'd recommend Supergirl (1982) by Paul Kupperberg and Carmine Infantino, as well as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2021) by Tom King and Bilquis Evely! They're both very different in terms of scope and the way that they depict Kara, but I have my reasons for recommending both of them:
Supergirl (1982) is one of my favorite comics and features my favorite version of Kara! I really love the way she's characterized in this run and I just think all the supporting characters and villains she's given are really fun and interesting <3. And, generally speaking, it's also the most analogous to the CW show: Kara has a secret identity (Linda Danvers instead of Kara Danvers in this continuity!), a human supporting cast, relationship drama, a day job, etc. All of those things are depicted differently than how they appear in the CW show, but it's the closest thing you'll get to the show's depiction of Kara without reading a comic that was directly influenced by CW Supergirl (aka Supergirl (2016) by Steve Orlando).
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2021) is another one of my favorite comics and is great for getting to know the modern interpretation of Kara. Some people who have read this say that it's interpretation of Supergirl is too "gritty" or cynical, I don't agree with that at all. I think it does a great job at showing how endlessly compassionate and protective Kara can be despite all the horrors she's been made to experience. Even if you don't vibe with Tom King's writing style or characterization of Kara, the art by Bilquis Evely is SO beautiful that it's worth reading anyway!
And both of these comics are self-contained and don't require you to read anything else before you jump into them! Which unfortunately can't be said for a lot of the Supergirl comics I love </3.
Now as for Kara's "most acceptable and correct origin", this is somewhat hard to answer because it changes depending on the continuity, but with that being said, I'd say that the origin that's shown in Woman of Tomorrow is what's considered her most accepted backstory: She's the older cousin of Superman who was born and raised on Krypton, and before it could be destroyed her father, Zor El, created a barrier that would protect Argo City from the explosion. She lived on that detached chunk of Krypton for a short while longer before the radiation coming from the planet itself would start killing the remaining Kryptonians. In order to protect her, Zor and Alura sent her to Earth in a rocket where she was expected to care for her infant cousin. However, along the way her rocket somehow gets stuck in stasis and causes her to arrive on Earth decades after Kal does. Other continuities have generally the same origin for her except with small changes here and there. Supergirl (1982) shows her original origin where she was born after Krypton's destruction on Argo City and is actually the younger cousin of Superman. So really it just depends on what you're reading! But yeah the WOT origin is like, THE origin for modern Kara.
Just like her origin, who Kara's Earth parents are depends on the continuity! Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers were her Earth parents in the 2016 Supergirl series written by Steve Orlando, but they were incorporated into the comics in order to make Kara's comic canon similar to the CW show, so I'm really not a big fan of them. In Pre-Crisis continuity (which encompasses comics published prior to Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985), which includes Supergirl (1982)!) Kara's Earth parents were Fred and Edna Danvers. Fred was a scientist who worked at S.T.A.R. Labs, and Edna was a housewife (1960s moment). In Post-Crisis (comics published after COIE, but before the 2011 New 52 reboot) Kara didn't have any adoptive parents, but she did eventually stay with Clark's childhood friend/sweetheart Lana Lang and posed as her niece, calling herself Linda Lang. As of right now, in the current continuity, we don't know if Jeremiah and Eliza are still her adoptive parents, or if Fred and Edna are her parents like Mark Waid's World's Finest (2022) run would suggest (since it majorly takes inspiration from Pre-Crisis continuity and he expressed interest in showing how Kara was put into their care), or if she just doesn't have any at all.
As for Supercorp... I really don't feel anything for the show's version of Kara, so it's not something that I ship, but I do understand why a lot of people really love it. I can see how their dynamic would be really appealing, I'm just not a CW Supergirl enjoyer so I don't have any affection for it. However, back when they let comic Lena be a Supergirl supporting character in Pre-Crisis continuity I did really love their dynamic and I do ship that version of them <3

This may not make a lot of sense, but something I love about supercorp fans is our ability to find the 'Kara x Lena'ness of literally everything. And I've seen a few snippets of pairings incorporating some of Katie's other characters (morgana, lucy, saskia, jules daly, etc) paired with Kara and have loved all of them! But here's my question, if we imagined ALL of Katie's characters/works as alternate versions/lives of Lena and looked at them with a supercorp lens, what versions of Kara would be their perfect match??? Like, would it be a cut and paste Kara or would someone like Jules probably be matched with a princess of Krypton type of Kara? Would Lucy Westenra need a Kara that went to work for Starr Labs instead of Catco? And Zara? What version of Kara would she fall for?? Sorry if this is kind of rambling, just thought it would be a fun thought exercise and your thoughts are always exquisite.
Honestly, I typically lean towards supercorp pairings that are within whatever universe we're working in. Like, Lucy would have a Kara from her time and place, Zara would have a modern Kara who's on the same corporate ladder goals that she is, etc. They wouldn't all tie back to the supergirl universe.
But that's just me. Everyone has their own preferences, so what you posit isn't bad, its just not something that excites me.
That said, your question has made me realized that I haven't really explored Katie's character from that weird south african actor/homesteader film. Probably because its not my favorite role hers, but hey. Maybe I could spin it into something that DOES vibe.

'Wriggling her toes, she tries to beckon Kara in to have her warmth in her hands. However, desire can’t run that high when it’s being countered by one Kara Zor-El. Lena is unfazed and yet feels like she’s being waterboarded in a glacier when the mother of her baby girl climbs up into the crib, twisting in various shapes to accommodate her freakishly long limbs in the reduced space.
“Do I even want to know what the hell you’re doing?”
The deer in the headlights expression in her face lets Lena know that Kara hadn’t thought it twice. But she gets a shrug as a peace offer, and a shy grin that has her forgiving Kara even for sins she hasn’t committed yet.
“Uh. I wanted to check if I could fit in here, y’know. In case she wakes up at night and it’s my turn putting her to sleep.”
Lena lets out a breath. “Honey, that’s literally why we purchased this disgustingly expensive rocking chair.”
“Yeah, but where’s the magic in that?” Kara wonders aloud, bones bent in an angle that can’t be comfortable even for her Kryptonian genetics. “I’m sorry your little human physiology can’t handle it, but bonding happens this way,” she says. '
you can hear it in the silence
Okay, so this scene has an special place in my heart since the first time I read it, because my dad used to do this when I was a newborn/toddler, so I just wanted to know the dvd commentary, of the entire fic if i'm being honest, but, yeah (if it was even you who wrote it and not your coauthor)
Helloooo đŸ„č
First of all thanks for the ask, you can hear it in the silence was really fun to write.
And second of all, that's so damn cute I can't believe your dad actually did that đŸ„č
Okay so I think it was kara that wrote that specific part (@ luthorstark in ao3) but it was also a few of those moments we were both on the doc doing touches on each other's paragraphs sooo kinda both of us wrote it?
The idea was born out of both of us Loving supercorp babies and using the terrible magic plot to our gain
But since we had low-key already done supercorp kid in did time stop for you, too?, we went more into how Lena and Kara would react and what they'd think at the idea of a kid
That's why there's no name for the kid in it (which is very much mentioned in many comments lmfao), because the story is mostly about the feelings regarding the kid rather than the interactions with the kid itself
Which is why this scene fits well into that- it shows, imo, what Kara would be like in the future: completely enamoured with her kid, going to the extremes for them, doing silly little things to connect and also, in a way, showing how much of a protector she'd be (it's a tiny crib, if kara gets in with the baby, she's basically on top of it or surrounding it completely and shielding it from whatever is out there in the scary big world yk)
Long answer as usual lmfao but thanks for asking, I loved that fic đŸ«¶
PS: read Kara's works, they're fantastic

20 questions game
Thank you, @luthordamnvers, for the tag <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
At this moment 9, though most of them are on hold and 1 is an art
2. What’s your total AO3 words count?
206 916 at the moment
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Exclusively Supercorp with a dash of Dansen, Brainia and Rojarias as side pairings. No other pair had this much grip over me, so I would start writing fics for them. =D
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
how to interrupt the spellcasting (Explicit, smut 1 shot) When you move, I'm moved (Explicit, Ice Dance AU, non-trad a/b/o, multichapter, ongoing) Cold never bothered me anyway (Explicit, smut 1 shot) When those walls come tumbling down (Mature (for now) post-season 6 canon compliant, my first work that I intend to rewrite because it's a mess) I hope you're the end of my story (Mature (for now) Cowboy Kara AU, non-trad a/b/o, on hold now, but I will finish it!)
yeah.... people like smut XD
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always reply! It may take me a day or two especially when I am busy at work but I read them and try to answer something more or less meaningful <3
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I am terrible at writing angst and all my fics ends well because I am a fluff-loving bitch =D
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All of them have happy endings, but I think, the most satisfying is in I slithered here from Eden . Or I am just biased. But it's most domestic and hopeful.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Got some nasty comments, from some famous haters in a SC fandom
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
oh yes, that's my speciality XD Most of my fic contains explicit smut.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Nope, not yet but I never say never!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so? I am not so popular too
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not officially, no, but I ran fics through the translator to read it many years ago when my English was worse.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Not in the full meaning of this word, but I count my Beta as my co-writer because he does a lot of work to make it readable, because English is not my native language and the raw text is... terrifying not gonna lie.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Supercorp, I think they overshade all my previous favourite ships. But I can't say I love my other ships less, so <3 you Xena/Gabrielle, Sylvaina and Pharmercy!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I want to finish all my WIP's, I had a writing draught for a year because of an illness and now coming back to it and focusing on one/two at a time with the occasional 1-shot in the middle
16. What are your writing strengths?
I guess I am good at writing adventures ( thus I focus on action-heavy AU's) and smut. To be honest I needed to write smut first but I try not to seem too thirsty XD
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Angst. Idk, I just don't have a mental capacity for it I guess
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If we dismiss the fact that English is not my first or even second language, yes, I thought that when I will write Red Daughter I would write her dialogue in Russian ( which is another language I freely speak)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I never wrote for fandoms before, so my first texts were about my OC's
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
I would say that it is From Eden . First of all it is full of action and I love writing combat scenes and adventures, second of all it was for SCBB and I never participated in anything like that so it added to the fun. And last - it is my only finished long work so I am kinda sorta proud of it =D
I think all writers I know are already tagged so I spread it to anyone who wants to fill it up! <3

mel i loved your post about your full timeline of s5 from a character’s perspective and i eagerly await the fic!!! i’ve never actually posted fic or anything but sometimes i kind of quietly write things i don’t think i’d ever post and honestly i both hate the amount of background you need when all you had was a scene in mind but i have to admit i also love it. it’s like this logic puzzle where you’re trying to slot everything in so it makes sense and adheres to a timeline and the headcanon speculation of it is so fun (insert crazy murderboard jpg here) and i would love to hear any of that sort of background stuff that never made it into your fics but that was painstakingly pieced together if you would care to share! i loved when you shared your gender headcanons.
AHHHHH I genuinely freak out when people put things in my inbox, thank you 💗💗 I'm going to answer this in almost-reverse order! Starting with some stuff that never made it into the fics (I forget a lot of them over time, but these are some off the top of my head):
My Crisis rewrite had some headcanons around how people processed time at the Vanishing Point. More "super" people like Sara and Kara processed time more slowly, whereas humans like Lena and Ryan processed time more quickly. This kind of shows up in the writing with how Kara angsts in the background, and how Sara doesn't really sleep, but ultimately I didn't use it.
In It's a Metallo Life, the team briefly heads to MIT - I have a lot of headcanons around Lena's time at MIT (I went there myself), including certain unauthorized activities she may have participated in. Ultimately, I didn't find a good excuse to include much of that in the fic, but let's just say as a student she spent a lot of time in strange places and setting things on fire.
For Even Though You're Kryptonian, I actually have a separate science summary post that you might enjoy. I really thought a lot about the science there, but it didn't make it into the fic itself.
I love the logic puzzle aspect!! Putting together the outline of the story is the part of writing that really feels like storycrafting to me. When I finally have that working outline, it gives me the same high as engineering a working piece of code.
Last year, I went into posting my very first chapter thinking "What am I even doing? I'm not a writer" - but it ended up unlocking this part of me that I had hidden away, becoming a really worthwhile experience. So I hear you on being shy to post, and I know it's a vulnerable feeling, so no pressure. But if you're feeling that inkling to give it a try, I'd encourage you to ïżœïżœïž
As for the fic I was posting about... funny thing, it's not supercorp (except as background characters), and it doesn't really need the timeline at all (I just needed to know how much I was going to break canon). Maybe you'll enjoy it anyway, or maybe not.
If not, I have 3 other supercorp fics (after my current WIP) that I plan to release into the world too. So more stories will be coming regardless 💕
Thank you so much for the ask, I hope you have a marvelous day!

More Than What I’ve Already Become (Supercorp Waitress AU)
I’ve had a Supercorp Waitress Au (both the movie and musical) rolling around in my head for a while that has, quite frankly, prevented me from writing anything else. So I finally sat down and wrote out a little of it and figure I’ll just post it here as I write it in spurts. If it ends up any good I’ll move it over to ao3 when it’s done. So for now please enjoy Part 1
The gentle hum from the fluorescent light that hung low in the small back room lulled Kara into a sense of quiet comfort as she worked. The early morning hours when she had the diner to herself were the only true solace in her days. Sugar, butter, flour. A pinch of salt. Ice cold water. Dextrous and lightning quick fingers bringing the pastry together. Her mind on autopilot as she wrapped each new crust in plastic wrap and placed them in the fridge while grabbing those she had made the previous morning to be rolled out and baked.
She glanced up to make sure the oven was on, as if it was ever turned off, and set about working the dough as little as possible. Quick and gentle movements so as not to overwork it. Buttery and flaky is what J’onn’s Pie Shop was known for; not tough and chewy. Apple, cherry, rhubarb, chocolate banana, chess, coconut cream, and the day’s special.
As she crafted the last pie, she couldn’t fight the memory of learning her craft. It was like she had walked back into the tiny kitchen of the small home she grew up in. Firm, but gentle hands guiding her own as she measured each ingredient and stirred the marshmallow into the steaming pudding mix her mother made. The soft humming of the song they had made up together through the years.
The memory always brought her peace. Made her feel as though her mother was there; wrapping her in her arms so she was safe and warm. Twirling her around the kitchen as she impatiently waited for the sweet, sweet treat they created together.
“Kara.”
The voice snapped her out of her memories and back into the dreary present.
“What is it James?”
“No need to get all prissy. What’s the special today? Nia needs to write it on the board.”
“Uhh...deep shit blueberry bacon,” she replied as she pulled the pie from the oven.
James stared at her a moment, “Deep shit?” he asked, his voice incredulous.
“Ah, dish,” Kara corrected herself, “Deep dish, sorry James.”
“C’mon, Kar,” he replied with a shake of his head and turned to head to the counter.
The blonde followed him and grabbed her apron from Alex’s hand as she walked by, “What’s gotten into you today, Kar?” The redhead asked as she tied her own apron, following the blonde behind the counter, accepting the empty coffee pot Kara thrust into her midsection and haphazardly sliding it into place under the coffee maker.
“Make that coff-”
“We got it, Jimmy. We make coffee every day.” Alex said with a roll of her eyes. The sneer that had instantly appeared at the sound of James Olsen’s voice softened once again as she turned her attention to the woman who was staring in the direction of the window but looking at nothing. “Kara
”
The taller woman shook her head. “Later, Alex. We have to open and you know -”
“No. No later. You’ve been in a funk all week and I-I’ve been patient but you’re my little sister. I can’t stand to see you this way. So...Nia! Emergency meeting, now!”
Kara jumped as a clattering of forks and knives sounded from the direction of the booth in the far corner of the restaurant.. “Alex, my ears! I’m right here!”
“Yes, but
” She paused as Nia sat up, blinking sleep from her eyes and looking around in confusion. “Sleeping beauty needed to be roused. Now, c’mon, let’s go.” The redhead
The three women crowded into the tiny restroom. The two other women pushing Kara toward the stall in the corner.
Alex’s voice was firm as she cornered her sister against the sink when she tried to escape. “Kara. You’ve put this off long enough.”
“Alex, I don’t know what you’re talking about. Wh-”
“You know what.” The redhead and Nia replied in unison.
“I thought you said you don’t sleep with your husband anymore.”
“Ah, Nia. I
” Kara let out an exasperated sigh. “I don’t but
”
“But.” Alex interjected, her voice laced with venom as she started to open the package in her hands. She hadn’t liked Mike from the start and couldn’t stand to be in the same room as the man.
“Well, he-he got me drunk and I - I do stupid things when I drink like...sleep with my husband.” She couldn’t temper the self-loathing that crept into her voice when she said that and Alex gave her arm a gentle squeeze as she pressed the dreaded item into her palms with the other.
“You were wearing that red dress, weren’t you?” Her sister said as she steered the blonde toward the stall door.
“Oh, I love that red dress! They way it sparkles, it looks like an ice-skating outfit...” Nia said dreamily from where she sat perched on the edge of the sink.
Alex shoved Kara into the stall and pulled the door closed, keeping her hand on the door, holding it in place as though her freakishly strong sister couldn’t easily pull the rickety door off its hinges if she wanted to.
“Stay with us, Nia! Read the directions.”
“Alex!” Kara screeched from where she was precariously squatting in the cramped stall. She knew that every drop of blood in her body had rushed to her face, her embarrassment for this whole ordeal quadrupling. “I don’t need her to read the direct-”
“Se puede saber la duratión de la -”
“English!”
“Right, sorry Alex. I hope you drank enough this morning, Kara.” The young woman cleared her throat. “Do not insert the test stick into your vag-”
“Thank you, Nia! But I’m all set.” Kara all but yelled as the sound of the toilet flushing filled the small room and Kara yanked the door out of her sister’s hand.
She carried the stick pinched between two fingers, a slight crinkle in her brow. Nia jumped down from the counter as the blonde approached, skirting around her and looking at the object in her hand as if it were a bomb. Kara could have sworn she heard the young brunette chanting negative under her breath as she passed by.
“Okay, how long?” Kara asked, setting the stick on the edge of the sink then washing her hands.
Nia glanced at the instructions that were still in her hand, “Two minutes. One line is negative and two means positive.”
She heard Alex twisting the timer she had surreptitiously removed from the kitchen on their way to Kara’s personal hell that was this bathroom. Turning off the water, she dried her hands and sighed.
Nia smiled at her tentatively. “Maybe...maybe his uh, his machinery is broken somehow. What if! What if his boys don’t swim? I mean...that would be miraculous luck.”
“Yeah, real miraculous.” Alex grunted. “Thought you’d get away with an unprotected fu-”
“Funny how one night can ruin your whole life.” Kara interjected with a mirthless chuckle. She had never grown used to the way her sister used colorful vocabulary so flippantly. Alex glared at her.
The redhead scoffed. “Don’t say that, we don’t even know what the test says.”
“I just wish...someone would send me a sign, tell me ho-”
The timer started to ring and three pairs of eyes immediately darted to the plastic stick sitting on the counter.
Kara drew in a shuddering breath, Alex’s hand encircling her wrist for a moment, giving her a supportive squeeze then giving her a tiny push in the direction of the sink.
One line. One line. One line. One line.
It was like a mantra that played over and over in her head as she crossed the short distance in a few short steps. She closed her eyes before picking up the stick that held the power to make or break her. Taking one last deep breath in, she opened her eyes.
“Shit.”

Supercorptober 2022 Day 16: Sparks
A follow up to Peace was requested by a lot of people so here it is, the scene where supercorp kiss after Kara thinks they've been dating for a month while Lena thinks they're just friends.
ao3 fic link. series link.
“Come on, Lena. Please, for me?”
“No,” Lena laughs, resisting the tug of Kara’s hand and the puppy dog eyes sent her way. “What are you doing?”
“Come on,” Kara grins, and Lena gives in, letting herself be pulled up.
Kara doesn’t drop her hand, but instead grabs Lena’s other one and then they’re dancing, or at least Kara is, Lena just letting herself be jostled by Kara’s moving arms.
Except she’s terrible at dancing, and she does mean herself, not Kara. Kara has rhythm as she sways her hips, rhythm as she bounces on her feet, coaxing Lena into joining her.
“See, this is fun, isn’t it?” Kara grins, and Lena must admit it is, only because Kara looks so happy and carefree and Lena hasn’t felt this relaxed in a while.
She’s also not going to complain about Kara’s hands in hers, or the way they keep stumbling into each other, the warm press of Kara’s body there a moment, then gone the next.
Kara spins her out and then pulls her back in again and this is even better. Next time Kara wants to dance, despite the fact that Lena probably looks ridiculous as she tries to stay in time with the music, she’s definitely going to say yes.
Kara’s suddenly a lot closer and Lena’s breath catches. It’s unfair how good her best friend looks right now, even just in grey sweat pants and a white t-shirt, she looks amazing. It helps that the shirt is slightly too tight and Kara’s arms are on full display.
Lena’s eyes dart down, just for a moment, because she’s weak and happy and Kara’s lips look so soft.
She allows herself just that, and then she’s giggling again as Kara twirls her and if this is what she gets with Kara, if this is what her life with Kara will be, having fun with her best friend on a normal Thursday evening, then Lena will take it.
But then suddenly it’s not just a normal Thursday evening, because the next time Kara pulls her close, she stops, and that parts not out of the ordinary, she’s used to Kara staring at her from time to time, but this is different, because instead of looking away like she usually would, Kara leans forward and kisses her.
The touch is electric, that’s how Lena would describe it. It’s a shock to her system, a jolt, a total surprise that has Lena wanting more.
There’s that clichĂ© in movies where they say sparks fly? That’s exactly what this feels like.
This is what Lena always imagined a kiss from Kara would feel like.
“You looked surprised,” is the first thing Kara says when she pulls away. “Sorry, I should’ve asked, it’s just that we’ve been dating for nearly a month and I saw you looking at my lips and I thought you wanted to too. Gosh, I didn’t even ask, do you like kissing? Do you want to kiss people? Is that something you like to do in a relationship?”
Lena is so confused about so many things right now.
“I definitely like kissing, and I want to kiss you, specifically, but we’re dating?”
Kara pauses, frowns. “Aren’t we?”
“What made you think we’re dating?”
“I
everything?”
“Everything?”
“We’ve been out on multiple dates. The first one was when I asked you to have dinner with me at the Italian place, remember?”
How could Lena forget that night, she’d spent the whole time dying because Kara had brought her flowers and looked incredible in a suit and then insisted on paying for dinner and all Lena could think about was how she’d wanted it to be a date.
But was it actually a date??
“We spend all out free time together, we sleep together most nights. I mean, I literally called you my girlfriend the other day and you said nothing.” Kara bites her lip, looking distressed. “Was I wrong?”
“I
didn’t you just mean like a friend who is a girl?”
Kara looks close to tears now, and Lena realises she’s said the wrong thing.
“Come here,” Lena says, but she doesn’t wait for Kara to respond, just reaches out and pulls her into a hug. Kara is frozen for a moment, but then she easily relaxes into Lena’s arms. It allows Lena a moment to think, to run her mind over everything Kara has just said, and realise what an absolute idiot she’s been.
It’s a long time before they pull apart, and Lena can see an apology on Kara’s lips, but Lena talks before she can.
“I didn’t realise that you’d asked me out on a date, I didn’t realise that that’s something you wanted, all this time I thought your feelings for me were strictly platonic. I think I missed it because I never imagined you might feel the same for me in return.” Kara opens her mouth but Lena holds up her hand. “Let me finish, please?”
Kara nods so Lena continues. “I want to make it clear right now, that I like you, that I very much want to kiss you, and if I’d realised sooner that we were dating, I would’ve definitely kissed you already.” Lena reaches out, tucks a loose strand of hair behind Kara’s ear, feels entirely giddy when Kara leans into the touch. “I’m sorry I missed it, it seems so obvious now.”
“For the record,” Kara smiles. “If it wasn’t obvious, I like you too.”
“I think we’ve established that sometimes I need things to be spelled out to me.”
Kara’s grinning now, and so is Lena. And while she feels a little dumb, she feels a lot happy.
“In that case, I very much want to kiss you again,” Kara says.
Just hearing Kara says those words, makes Lena want to cry. A lot about this evening makes Lena want to cry.
Lena’s the one that leans forward this time, her mouth pressing gently against Kara’s.
And then Kara’s mouth parts beneath hers and Lena knows she’s not going to stop kissing her anytime soon.

Hi! I would love if you could write something for supercorp with “I hope our kid takes after you.”. Thank you!
some v domestic supercorp from the prompt list! (happiness 12 I believe)
"I hope our kid takes after you."
Lena’s not quite sure when Kara’s kitchen became her own.
She knows where every dish is, knows where Kara keeps her spices, her utensils, her canned goods. There are things in the fridge that are hers, crackers in the cupboard that Kara bought because she likes them. It’s possible she knows Kara’s kitchen better than she knows her own, at this point, considers it as much hers as she does Kara’s.
She rarely cooks at her apartment. She tells herself she doesn’t have the time, opting for takeout or frozen meals instead. But it’s become something of a routine to cook at Kara’s, and often several nights a week finds them holed up in Kara’s kitchen, trying new recipes and arguing about vegetables. It was an easy transition from their old routine of weekly restaurant or bar hangouts—just one night where Lena was too tired to go out and Kara suggested this instead of calling off the occasion completely.
Somewhere along the way, it became their new normal.
Lena’s standing at the stove, stirring a pot of lentil curry. It’s one of the only completely vegan dishes that she can convince Kara to eat, so she makes it as often as she can whenever she cooks. Outside, the November wind moans, blowing uneven patters of rain across the windows of Kara’s kitchen. It’s warm and dry inside, though, the air spiced by the stew, the kitchen lights soft and orange. The radio’s on, faintly playing ABBA songs, and Lena hums quietly along as she stirs. At the sink, Kara washes the dishes as Lena dirties them, her hair tied back in a messy bun at the nape of her neck.
The song ends, and the next one begins: Andante, Andante, in its sweet swinging rhythm.
“Oh, I love this song,” Lena says, swaying as she stirs. She abandons the curry when the lyrics begin, still holding the wooden spoon as she spins slowly around the kitchen to the rhythm, holding out her arms as though dancing with an invisible partner.
Kara turns to watch her, grinning and leaning her elbows back on the edge of the sink, and Lena reaches for one of her sud-soaked hands as she passes by. Kara laughs and stumbles after her. She ducks under Lena’s arm in a messy spin and then pulls herself close, her other hand finding Lena’s hip. They waltz around the kitchen, Kara lifting her arm to spin Lena this time as she sings along to the few words of the song she knows, Andante, Andante.
It’s the kind of moment in time that stretches, unhurried and unimportant but sweet like honey. The kind of moment where it feels like there’s nowhere and no one else in the world.
“You’re so perfect,” says Kara, smiling as they sway together. “I hope our kids take after you, some day.”
Lena hums, the swell of joy warm and soft in her chest. Kara’s hand sits comfortable on her hip as the music swells, too, and they sing along and laugh and spin around and around in the warm bubble of their kitchen in a way that feels infinite, in a way that seeps light into every dark corner.
The song ends, and Lena breaks away, dragging her hand away from Kara’s slowly until only their fingertips touch and then break apart, reaching for each other across empty air. She laughs, turning back to her curry. It takes until Kara, doing dishes again, drops a bowl and curses softly for her to register the words properly.
“Kara?” she says, hands freezing on the lid of the rice she’s putting on.
“Mmhm?”
“What was that you said? When we were dancing?”
Kara looks up at her, confused. She seems to struggle to remember for a moment, and then her face brightens. “Oh! I said I hope our kids take after you. You, know, because you’re perfect, and everything. I want them to be just like you. Sweet and smart and fun and kind.”
“Okay,” says Lena. “Right. That’s what I thought you said.”
“Great.” Kara turns back to her dishes.
“Kara?”
“Yeah?”
“You don’t see anything
 weird about that statement?”
Kara’s hands pause in the sink, and she looks up, nodding her head slightly as though replaying the words in her mind. Then her eyes go wide.
She says, “Oh my god.”
“Yeah.”
Kara claps a dripping hand to her mouth. “I said
 and I haven’t even
”
“Our kids,” Lena says. “Our kids.” She grins, and there’s something in her chest expanding, growing warm and bright and alive. “When were you planning to tell me I knocked you up, Miss Danvers?”
“Shut up,” laughs Kara. “Fuck.”
“One thing, Kara.”
“Yeah?”
“People who want kids together are usually married. Or at least dating.”
“Generally, yes, I think that’s a fair statement.” She’s turned around again to look at Lena, leaning back on the counter with a sweet smile on her face. Lena props her spoon up on the inside of the pot and moves to stand in front of her, her fingers grazing across Kara’s forearms.
“Is that a dream of yours?” she asks. “Having kids with me one day? Something you think about when you’re falling asleep? Growing old and
 becoming grandparents and
waking up together every morning, forever?”
And Lena isn’t sure whose late-night fantasy she’s describing, because it’s a dream that’s come to her, too, in the delirious, half-awake moments where she let herself believe it possible.
Kara’s arms drape around her waist, pulling her closer so they’re pressed together, Lena’s hands curled against her chest. “Sometimes,” she whispers.
“I didn’t know you felt that way, darling.”
“Didn’t you, though?” Kara smiles softly. “We do this multiple times a week, you basically live here. Everyone’s half convinced we’re dating already. I’d probably spend every night like this, if I could.”
Lena brushes a hand across her cheek, thinking that she could easily fall into nights like this for the rest of her life, and murmurs, “So would I.” When Kara leans into her palm, she adds, “I’m not sure I’m quite ready for kids yet, though.”
“We could start smaller,” says Kara.
“Yeah? How’s that?”
“I think, usually, before they think about having children together, people start with a kiss.”
“Oh, is that so?” says Lena.
“Yup. That’s step one.”
“A kiss.” Lena studies Kara’s features from an inch away, lets her fingers roam feather soft across them: the set of her blue eyes, the flutter of her fair eyelashes, the divot of a scar beside her eyebrow. She runs her thumb over Kara’s lips. “I think I could manage that.”
They have a penchant for doing things out of order, thinks Lena. Because it’s after they’ve been doing something like dating for years, after she’s learned every nook of Kara’s home and heart like they’re her own, after they’ve discussed having children and growing old together, that they share their first kiss.
Her hands slide into Kara’s hair as she sinks into it, like the final piece of a puzzle piece falling into place, and they kiss to the background track of rain on the windowpanes, the fan on the stove, ABBA still singing in the background.
On the stove, the rice bubbles over, long forgotten.

Eliza Danvers (Gramm).
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader, Eliza Danvers x Granddaughter!Reader
Word Count: 2000.
“Guys! Hey.” You call your moms attention to yourself, and they stop talking so you can go on. “I called Gramm last night, and I think she is feeling a little lonely. I think I’ll go spend the weekend with her. It’s been a while.”
“Oh.” Kara looks a little lost. “Should we all go?”
“I don’t know. I think maybe we should take turns, so she has more people coming over. I’ll go this weekend, take Jamie there on the next one, then you and aunt Alex can go.”
“That’s a lovely idea, baby.” Lena gives your arm a little squeeze. “Eliza is going to be so happy.”
“Yeah, I hope so.”
Spending time with your Gramm is always great. But right now, it sounds like it’s exactly what you need and some. Ever since Kara brought up the idea that you should take the Supergirl name, you feel more and more relentless.
It’s not new, that’s for sure. Kara has been complaining about being too old for fighting for a while now. And no matter how easy it is for her to bounce back from injury, you can tell she’s losing stamina.
Never in all your life you were able to beat Kara at anything when it comes to powers, but lately, when you think about it, you are a lot faster than she is. You hear things first. You run faster than she can fly. You’re in and out of the house before she’s even up from the bed. You were able to trick her for weeks before she noticed that you were Shadow Helper. A few years ago, you couldn’t dream of any of this.
So you get it. You understand why Kara would want you to take the Supergirl mantle. To carry on the name, so she can have a little break from years of saving the world. Almost 30 years on this job, you can see how it can take a toll on someone.
And now is the perfect timing, actually. You’re almost graduating high school. All of your friends already filled and sent out their college applications, but you haven’t. You thought about taking a leap year, but the truth is that you don’t see yourself in college. You see yourself inventing things for L Corp and saving people. So you know this is your future.
But are you ready to start your future now?
You need to get out of this house so you can think. You need new faces around you. And there’s nothing that Gramm’s pies can’t help you with.
“Hey.” Kara calls you back before you fly out. You turn around to her, adjusting the backpack on your shoulders. She comes closer, slowly. “You’re ok, right?”
“Yeah. Why?”
“No, it’s nothing.” She kisses your forehead, then plays with your bangs for a second. “I love you. Have a great weekend with Eliza.”
“Thanks momma.” You look inside the house and wave Lena goodbye. “You have all weekend to yourselves. Have fun.” You wink at her, earning yourself a little chuckle.
“Thanks baby. Ready to go?” You agree with your head. “Ok. Go. But tell me you love me first.”
“I love you, weirdo.” You smile at her, before taking flight.
You haven’t exactly told Eliza the news. You thought it was best if you surprised her with your visit. But when she opens the door, she doesn’t look at all shocked by your presence.
“Come on, come in. I’m finishing up the pies.” She pulls you into a hug and kisses the crown of your head. “Help me out.”
“I thought you would be more surprised.” You move into the kitchen with her, watching her moving around graciously while cooking.
“I knew you were coming.” You raise one eyebrow wondering if Kara had enough time to call her while you were flying here. Probably not, you were pretty fast. “You sounded lonely on the phone yesterday.” Eliza explains and you smile, agreeing with your head.
“Yeah. Well, you did too.”
Her soft eyes agree with your assumption. Eliza gives you a pie, pointing to the oven with her head. Before you move, she grabs your arm and smiles at you. “I’ve missed you.”
There’s no more talking about why you’re there, or why you sounded lonely, or her, for what it’s worth. You two just enjoy each other’s company while baking pies, then eating them together.
Even during the long walk on the beach together, you don’t talk about what’s going on. Eliza doesn’t push. She would never. She just lets you go on and on about your girlfriend, how Jamie is doing, school and other meaningless things. She knows you two will have the entire weekend to talk about it, so she just waits until you’re ready.
It so happens that, after dinner and dishes and shower and pajamas, you feel ready to talk about it. Actually, you feel desperate to tell her everything. So you sit on the swing in the porch, and soon enough,
“I like this place.” Gramm says, taking you from your thoughts. You look at her coming closer and she offers you a mug of hot chocolate that you happily accept. “It’s great for thinking.”
“Mhm.” You take a sip on the chocolate and wait until she’s seated next to you. She puts a throw blanket over your lap, and even though you’re not necessarily cold, you feel cozier with it.
“So, what’s in that pretty little head of yours?”
You knew she was going to ask, that’s why the answer was on the tip of your tongue already. And as soon as she’s over with the question you’re already telling her the whole thing. You tell her about Superkid, Shadow Helper, and about Kara’s little comment on how you should take the Supergirl name.
Eliza listens. She never once interrupts you, even though she looks like she has many questions to ask. When you’re done, she squeezes your knee gently. So this is where Kara took this soothing move. You like to know she took something from your Gramm, besides the name.
“You know,” she starts with a smile “correct me if I’m wrong, but a few months ago you went to the future. We were sitting on this same old porch together, and you were upset because Kara went on a Supergirl call and didn’t take you with her.”
You barely remember this anymore. So much has happened after that. So many Supergirl calls that you joined, and some even that you went on without her.
She senses your hesitation, so she goes on trying to make you remember it. “I remember it all too well. I told you not to rush into this life of saving, that you would have your entire life to fight bad guys and save the world.”
That rings a bell, so you agree with your head, to make her go on.
“But you told me you could handle it.” She gives you a way too knowing smile. “Right here. Right on this porch, on this swing. You told me you could help her. And I must admit, sweetie, when you told me that I was worried. I worried you would rush out, get yourself into dangerous situations just to prove that you could, in fact, help her.”
You smile, holding back an almost laughter. She was right to worry because you did, indeed, put yourself into dangerous situations.
“Instead, you saved National City all alone. Then you went to different realities to help people you never even once met before. Does that remind you of someone?”
“Momma.”
“Supergirl.” She amends, with a smile. “Then I saw firsthand how much of a strong woman you are. When your entire family was in danger, you saved them.”
“I think you’re forgetting how scared I was. And that you had to push me to do it because I genuinely thought I couldn’t handle it.”
“Oh no, I remember that.” Eliza squeezes your knee again. “I remember telling you that you could do it. And you walked out, came back with Lena and Jamie, then Alex and Kara. You didn’t stop until everyone was safe, no matter how scared you were. If that’s not a superhero, then there’s something wrong with the world.”
“You know, when I came here, I thought you would give me reasons on why I shouldn’t do it.” You smile and she chuckles at you, almost in agreement.
But she doesn’t agree, it’s what it seems. She throws her arms around you, breathing deep. “So this is what we’re doing here on this fine night, huh? We’re looking for reasons?”
“I guess I wanted to have the whole picture.” You shrug. “Why I should and shouldn’t go for it.”
“Well, ok. Let’s think about them.” She seems to adjust herself, trying to be more comfortable. Like saying you’re in for a long ride. “Why do YOU think you shouldn’t do it?”
“I don’t know.” It’s your first reaction. Which is obviously a lie. You know it perfectly. “Momma used to tell me she would only let me super when I turned 18. I am almost 18,” She furrows her brows. “In years lived, I mean. The whole year in another reality
”
“Right, I-I keep forgetting about that.”
“So, I’ll be old enough, but maybe I’m still too young.”
“Yes. Yes you are.” Another knee squeeze. “That’s enough of a reason for me.” She doesn’t sound like she is being ironic, but she goes on. “You’re too young. Even to be Superkid and what was the new one?”
“Shadow Helper.”
“Oh, yes. You’re too young for this superhero life. So you’ll stop, right?”
“What? No!” You only notice she’s being ironic when your reaction draws a chuckle from her. You relax back into the swing. “Ok, I get what you’re saying. If I won’t stop supering then it makes no sense not to take Supergirl's name.”
“Was I saying that?” She jokes and you roll your eyes at her.
What Eliza doesn’t get is the weight the Supergirl name puts on you. You still make mistakes. You’re not perfect. You don’t know if you’re ready for all the pressure people are going to put on you, and everything they will expect just by hearing your name. Besides, will the name ever be truly yours?
“What else is going on?”
“Is Supergirl even a name that could be passed on? Isn’t Kara Danvers Supergirl and only her?”
“That is a much bigger question, isn’t it?” Eliza looks out to the stars and lets out a breath. “And the only person who can tell you that is Kara Danvers, herself.”
“Yeah.” You follow her movement, looking up to the sky as well. That is a much bigger question indeed. One that right now, can’t be answered, and that you also don’t want to deal with the answer. So you might as well enjoy your Gramm and forget about it.
It’s Sunday night when you pack your things to fly back home. You promise Gramm you’ll take Jamie there the next weekend, and she packs three pies for Kara. It’s way past Christmas and Thanksgiving, but you know Kara will enjoy the pies as if it was an important holiday celebration.
“All set?” Gramm asks, and after you agree with your head, she pulls you in for a hug. “Hey, sweetie. No matter what you decide to do, know that you have my undying support, because I know that whatever you do, you will do it with your heart.”
“Thanks Gramm. I’m so happy that my momma ended up with you guys. I can’t think of a more perfect family than you and aunt Alex. Thank you for everything.” You tighten the hug. “I love you, Gramm.”
“I love you more.” You smile at her before taking flight. But you can hear effortlessly when she adds, “Supergirl.”

Royal AU & Did They or Didn’t They?
Genre: Modern Royal AU Rom-Com (Surprisingly no angst this time around)
Lena is the obligatory black sheep of the Royal family that keeps them regularly in the tabloids (she collects them). Something that drives Lillian up the wall. Lionel is much more amused, giving her only the most mild of scolding.
Kara is doing a month abroad with an internship waiting for her back home. She has an obligatory FaceTime with Alex every night to check in and while she has plenty of photos, valiant stabs at poetry and amusing anecdotes, Alex without fail circles back to what to her is the most salient point: Have you met anyone?
"I meet lots of people. That tends to happen when you're visiting another country," is her reply one morning while Alex is already in bed.
"You're no fun," is Alex's reply before hanging up and while there's no malice behind it, Kara finds that it hits home a bit too hard. Being single was never a problem but she has felt a creeping sense of loneliness that's getting harder to ignore and she promises herself that she'll at least be open to the possibility of meeting someone.
Everytime that Lena finds herself on the front page with a suspected new beau, Lillian begs her if she's not going to take the path that she so painstakingly laid out (the one that Lex was more than happy to take) and play the part that a Royal is expected to play, she could at least settle down. "Is it really asking that much?" Lillian would plead while Lionel silently nods in the background.
And while there are a million different excuses and comebacks that Lena could come up with she always falls back on the same one. "Jack and I are hopelessly in love," (They're not) but he is her best friend and more than happy to go along with the charade. "Just because we aren't ready to tie the knot... The more you push the less inclined I am to finally pop the question and make him the happiest man in the world."
"And all those women that Jack is seen in the company of?" is always how Lillian responds, having him followed on occasion.
"I can't help it if the man I love is a bounder and a fiend," Lena sniffs.
Try as she might, Kara can't actually psyche herself up to go to a club. But a karaoke bar is something she can get behind and when she finds one close to where she's staying she makes the trip and ends up signing herself up to sing a Spice Girls song
She gets on stage and while she realizes that this is maybe not the best way to meet somebody she's having fun and that's more than enough to get her mind off things. She belts out "Wannabe", more concerned with having fun than performing although she is more than happy to try and emulate some of the dance moves she's so lovingly honed in her own tiny living room.
There is the obligatory round of applause (maybe some are just happy that the song is over) but there is a loud and clear whistle from the bar followed by a very enthusiastic round of applause that Kara gives a polite bow to not really seeing who is the one responsible.
She sits down at the bar, more than a little winded and orders a drink, feeling that is an appropriate victory lap and while she's rummaging in her pocket for her credit card, she hears a voice from beside her: "I've got this one."
"Oh," Kara stammers, pulling out her card and sending a bunch of loose bills and change spilling out onto the floor as she looks up and finds herself staring back at Lena who was already handed her card to the bartender. She quickly gathers up everything and holds out her card feebly to the bartender who just waves it away and Kara can only stammer out a very bashful, "I've met some friendly people here so far but buying me a drink is almost too nice."
"Well," Lena says and takes the drink that the bartender slides over to her in addition to the drink he places in front of Kara, "After that song I thought you deserved some kind of tip, although I was hoping for an encore..."
"Just swing by my apartment anytime after 9 P.M. on a Friday," Kara jokes, going a bit red when she realizes what she's just said. "I sing Karaoke at home a lot. That's what I meant..."
"I'm Lena," she says introducing herself and offering her hand and the two spend the rest of the night chatting, only leaving long after the bar has emptied and while Kara points vaguely in the direction of her hotel and assuring Lena that it's not all that far, Lena still insists on hailing a cab for her.
Knowing that their time is running short and that they'll likely never see one another again (It isn't a Rom-Com after all...) she summons up the courage to ask Lena if she could kiss her and while Lena looks almost surprised at the question she doesn't laugh she only nods, suddenly looking shy and clasps one of Kara's hands between both of her own and leans in...
The next day when Lena comes down for breakfast, Lillian throws down a paper like a gauntlet and after ignoring it to take a long drink of juice, she glances down at the headline and actually blushes. On it is a picture of her and Kara kissing with the headline: A Quick Snog Before Slipping Away to a Hotel.
"Anything you'd like to say?" Lillian asks and she's pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Good morning?" and when Lillian lets out a loud sigh and sinks into her chair, Lena waits until Lillian has taken a bite of her breakfast before she says: "And it wasn't a quick snog."

Smiles, tests and courage [6x13]
So, first things first:
Tumblr media
Was that the first time, we got to see Lena seeing Kara without her glasses?
Oh, boi... The episode... I had such a hard time, listening to the dialogue. And not (just) because of Supercorp. The cheesyness... the Power-Ranger-esque fights... Could they really not spare a second take on the civilians punching air and flailing?
But, I was having fun. A whole lot more fun since the rest of whole season so far combined.
Non-Supercorp-Highlights:
J'onn getting pummeled by that science lady and giving her a thumbs up for her efforts
Mitch said "zoinks" XD
Nyxly bashing ridiculous Mission Impossible plots
The things Nyxly does with her legs...
J'onn (again): "Hold that thought."
We've found a potential mate for Spike?
M'gann--.. ah, nevermind, she's still nowhere to be found.
not from the show, but someone on yt called Veeta "Mad Madam Mim" and I am still laughing
I also laughed at the science-babble, that a device that harvests lightning could create lighting - and that the project was oh-so-cleverly called "BOLT"
Kara is a horcrux now
...so glad, Lena's 'secret' didn't remain a secret for long!
Now, somehow Kara's test of courage, the moment she lacked courage most, was somehow her first outing as Supergirl. I can see that... But my shipper-heart wants to scream "And what about the million times she chickened out of telling Lena her secret!?" ...in that regard, I like the theory of someone else here, that Kara denied later when Winn assumed she was gay. And it would tie in with the creators claiming something Nyxly said was the clue of what Kara's test was about (Nyxly pointing out that Kara was happy that moment - which was the moment Kara was with Lena... and being honest / vulnerable with her, but happy non-the-less). But, yeah, that's just my gay heart speaking.
What else could be the "courage to be vulnerable" in that pilot scene?
Really, I'm asking.
It does start at the bar... what are we missing?
...I did not like retconning a cry for help into the pilot. But then, after Crisis, it could have happened, on Earth-Prime.

Totem rules: 1) Keep the order. 2) Find them. (shouldn't that be first? how can you keep the order if you don't know what and where they are?) 3) Activate with magic word. 4) Pass test. (Test will take a deep emotional, unpleasant toll.)
...soo, for every Totem, right? Including Love? Yes? Okay, just checking...
Tumblr media
Lena awkwardly crossing her arms in the med-bay, so she wouldn't reach out for Kara...
Ah...

My. Heart!
Tumblr media
The Supercorp couch-scene was wholesome.
No wonder, our girl was happy! Is it bad, that I kept internally scolding at Lena "Get these shoes off that couch, gurl!" ...nice treads, tho. What’s with Supercorp and couches, tho.....
Best theory I have come across (twitter @gayluthxr): Nyxly falls for Lex (a Luthor) because she feels what Kara feels... for Lena (a Luthor). If that's that, then suddenly I am all for ship BaldImp!
Kara had been on edge and depressed the past few episodes (rightfully so, after the PZ), barely a laugh or real smile. Now, Lena's back and look at Little Miss Sunshine:
Tumblr media
🌞 Frown gone! Crinkle gets a break! (I was seriously worried, her crinkle would become permanent, but turns out, all she needed was her Lena.)
Yeah, and the acting and shooting / editing choices....
Tumblr media
...
Don't give me hope!
Tumblr media
Guess, we’ll have to wait and see...

I think we're alone now for supercorp! :)
If you'd asked Lena this time yesterday whether there was anything she wasn't prepared to do for friendship, she'd have said no. Certainly there was nothing she wasn't prepared to do for Andrea, best friend and roommate, social mentor, fellow genius entrepreneur-to-be. But if you ask Lena today, she'll tell you there's precisely one thing she's not willing to do for friendship, no not even for Andrea, not even if the fate of the world depends on it, and that's hiking.
Specifically backpacking. More specifically, multi day backpacking trips with a gaggle of fellow undergraduates who want to behave like they're hiking the PCT and not trundling down some 60 miles of backwater footpaths just a few hours away from NCU in what was allegedly supposed to be an attempt to form long lasting social bonds but which appears to be in fact a thinly disguised mating ritual. This, in retrospect, is something that Lena should have seen coming. But she was blinded by friendship -  or perhaps by Andrea's pouty face - and so here they are some 16 miles from civilization and Lena has come to the conclusion that hiking is in fact literal hell.
By which she means that everything is burning. Her legs are burning. Her lungs are burning. Her throat is burning. Her lips are chapped and there is a distinctly red tinge to her cheeks which is either going to be a whole new generation of freckles or else it's the beginning of a skin cancer which will lead her to an untimely death and leave the Luthor legacy in Lex's questionably capable hands.
But more than any of those things it's Lena's pride which feels burnt to crisp, and it's the fault of the woman marching along in front of her like none of this is the slightest physical inconvenience. The woman who turns around and, walking backwards without missing a step, fixes Lena with a goofy smile.
"Hey Grumpy," she says, "You doing okay?"
Lena doesn't have the breath in her lungs to protest that Grumpy isn't her name, so she fixes the energetic woman in front of her with a deadpan stare and hopes that's going to do the trick. Ahead of them, Tech Support is talking too loudly about something that would be mildly interesting to Lena if they were, say, chatting over beers in a building with air conditioning and not courting death and mosquitos in the middle of nowhere and calling it fun.
"You need to take a break?"
Potsticker. That's the name Lena knows this woman by. Because everyone agreed ahead of time to go by trail names, and it's ridiculous, and Lena hates it, not only because she somehow got saddled with Grumpy, but because her eyes fall to those lips, those shoulders, and she wants to think some kind of semi-horny thought, and here's the thing: it's difficult to have semi-horny thoughts about someone whose name evokes the image of Chinese takeout. Lena tears her eyes away from long fingers wrapped securely around a backpack strap and tries to arrange her expression into something other than pure exhausted despair.
"I'm good," she gets out. "It's just. A lot."
And it is. Tech Support and Playboy are both vying for Andrea's attention, which is not in and of itself particularly strange since Andrea always seems to have a half dozen boys wrapped around her finger, but it is... annoying. Annoying because Andrea's trail name is Blowjob and it makes Lena uncomfortable in a way she can't quite put her finger on. And Potsticker's sister, Shades, has been falling all over a woman who has been unironically going by Daddy since she met up with them at the trailhead yesterday. Lena isn't sure if that's a sex thing or a gender thing and at this point she's afraid to ask.
Potsticker squints up the trail at their gaggle of hikers and smiles. Somewhere ahead, Dreamer is shouting about stopping to crack a beer, and Short Stuff is shouting something back about needing to check the GPS.
"They're a little... rowdy," Potsticker admits. "Probably not what you picture when you think of a wilderness trip. But they'll grow on you."
Privately Lena thinks not. "Undergrad is where you make the best friends of your life, that's what Andrea told me," Lena huffs.
"Blowjob?"
"I spend all my time in the lab. Trying to graduate early. Two degrees. Lot of ground to cover. World isn't going to change itself. Not for the better, anyway. So we thought. Join a hiking group. NCU has a. Group for-"
Lena almost smacks into Potsticker where she's halted right in the middle of the trail. "I think we should take a break," Potsticker says.
"But the others-"
"Do you trust me?"
The answer to that question is an easy and obvious no. Lena didn't know any of these people a week ago and they're all going by assumed and frankly borderline obscene names and now that she thinks of it there's no way to be sure that any of these people actually attend NCU in the first place. But Potsticker is standing there in that tanktop with those deep blue eyes and her head cocked to the side and "no" doesn't feel like an appropriate answer.
So Lena says, "Of course."
"You want me to get your water off your pack for you?"
They stand together wordlessly in the middle of the trail, Lena taking sips from the HydroFlask she's schlepped all the way out there and Potsticker nibbling on the water valve looped through her pack straps. After a long moment, Potsticker cocks her head to one side again.
"You hear that?" she asks.
Lena listens. The wind brushes through the tops of the trees and nearby an insect is buzzing. The roar of the river they followed for some time this morning has long since faded into nothingness. "I don't hear anything," Lena says.
Posticker nods. "Exactly. I think we're alone now." And then, hastily, "I know where we're going though; we aren't lost. Alex - Shades - and I, we've done this trail a hundred times. Usually just us. But she's got this thing going with Sam, and Sam likes to do the hiking groups, so. What I'm saying is, it's a lot for me too. I come out here for the quiet. The group is nice; they really do grow on you. But it's... they're out here for something else. It's a more social experience."
"We were looking for a social experience," Lena says. Her eyes are drawn suddenly, intensely, to the rim of her water bottle. "Just not... just..."
"You weren't looking for 60 miles of frat party."
"That's a little on the nose."
"Look me in the eye and tell me that I'm wrong."
Lena looks her in the eye. No words come out. Potsticker is suddenly very close, or maybe Lena is suddenly too aware of her proximity.
"That might be what Andrea came out here for," Lena says. "And there's no shame in that. But I think if I had known I would have stayed home. I'm not- I don't think Andrea and I are looking for the same things."
"And what are you looking for?"
Lena is definitely not imagining it; Potsticker is absolutely getting closer to her and it's absolutely on purpose. And those deep blue eyes have fallen to Lena's mouth and Lena, who has spent the last 24hrs annoyed with her best friend for flirting with everything on the trail with a male pronoun, who is out here actively complaining about how she came looking for community and found a wilderness matchmaking service, is seriously considering whether it's hygienic or legal to rail someone right here in the middle of the trail.
Lena clears her throat. "I am, against my better judgment, going to kiss you now," she announces. "And I'd really like it if before I did you could give me something to call you that isn't so... greasy."
Potsticker laughs. She ducks her head to capture Lena's mouth and for a long, glorious moment, grease is the furthest thing from Lena's mind. It's a clumsy kiss, and the backpacks are not conducive to really holding one another, and it mostly hurts when Potsticker brushes a thumb over Lena's cheek because of that damn sunburn. But Lena smiles anyway.
It’s another 6 miles before she realizes that Potsticker never gave up her name.

Thank you for the prompt, Anon!
Shout-out to @mrsluthordanvers for Sam's trail name

Hello Mike. Have you ever seen John Carpenter’s Starman? If yes, I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether a Supercorp Starman au would work.
anon i actually have not seen this film but i did some very light research and now im so intrigued by this au idea so i had to come up with something ? this is all based on wikipedia descriptions and youtube clips so i apologize if i get anything wrong
so in starman, an alien from another planet responds to a nasa probe inviting aliens to visit earth. when he arrives, instead of being welcomed like he expects, the starman is shot out of the sky and enlists the help a woman (Jenny) who's dead husband he takes the form of, in order to meet up at a rendevous spot in 3 days so his people can rescue him. they fall in love he gets her--
*double checks notes* yeah okay, he gets her pregnant (she's cool with it i guess) and as they escape a government scientist (Mark Shermin) double crosses the government trying to kill starman and helps them get him to the evacuation site where he is ultimately sucked up into his mother ship, leaving Jenny behind.
everyone got all that ? well, im sold. lets cast our characters.
Our leads,
Starman: is kara zor-el. this is no contest. anon i hope you also thought so or im about to DIVULGE. in the film, starman has an array of weird alien powers, kinda a combination of psychic and shapeshifting/illusion powers, maybe? also apparently his powers all come from these seven silver orbs he has with him. we are going to.... retcon, some of that. apologies.
Jenny: is Lena! Our lonely widow Lena. In this au, Lena is still a scientist, living in National city. Jenny/Lena enters the film as down a husband (or in the case of this au, a wife), which means now its time to cast--
Scott Hayden, AKA Jenny's spouse: is... okay, bear with me for a minute. In the movie, Scott Hayden isnt really a character. Hes just a guy who the starman impersonates to get Jenny to trust him. in our au, starman Kara zor El breaks into Lena's (jenny's) house and finds photos of...
Linda Lee !! Thats right, our good friend Russian Kara makes a reappearance only to be killed off, just like in the show ! (rip. red daughter) Kara, who at the beginning of this au is kinda just like... a ball of light, i guess, finds a piece of blonde hair and creates a clone body from it (i swear im taking this straight from the movie canon) and takes the form of Linda Lee, Lena's deceased wife.
speaking of what pieces of movie canon im choosing to use and choosing to ignore, yes kara is kryptonian in this au. yes im saying all kryptonians are balls of light with the ability to clone bodies for themselves. yes im rejecting the seven magic spheres canon from the movie. yes kara has all her show powers. i contain multitudes.
okay, everyone keeping up ? lets move on !!
Kara zor El and Lena have to get to Arizona in 3 days or Kara will die !! (why will kara die? unsure, the wikipedia wasnt super clear about this. we'll say something about the yellow sun in our au is whats causing it)
Kara and Lena go on a fun romp across the states in an action packed roadtrip montage. this would stay pretty faithful to the original film, i think. not much to change here. as far as Kara getting Lena pregnant goes... uh, i dont write smut, and tbh im not 100% sold on this plot point, so ill just do an **alien sex magic powers** handwave and push that to the side.
as Lena and Kara get closer to Arizona, the government agency hunting them down closes in. which reminds me-- government agency, hunting aliens, trying to dissect them and kill them? uhhhhh, were villainizing the DEO, baby.
there are a couple of reasons for this. yes, CADMUS might work better, but remember, in the 3rd act of this movie/fic one of the scientists needs to go rogue and help Kara and Lena, and having the DEO be the evil government organization hunting down Kara means we get...
ALEX DANVERS AS MARK SHERMIN COMING IN FOR THE THIRD ACT CLUTCH
we get some cool Alex/kara bonding, some last minute confessions from Lena, and as Kara is walking back towards her family's ship come to rescue her, Lena begs Kara to take her with them. Kara tells Lena she would die on Krypton, but tells her not to give up hope. As one final goodbye, Kara gives Lena her mothers necklace, telling her she'll know what to do with it when the time comes.
(many years later, Lena, because she's a brilliant scientist and inventor, of course, creates a device that would allow Kara to live on earth without feeling the effects of the sun. Activating the necklace, Lena summons Kara back to earth, and the two spend the rest of their days together in love.)
so yeah, i think it would work !! hope this satisfied what you were looking for, anon !! thanks for stopping by :D
