“Wanna come over?” you ask, your voice casual but your eyes lingering on Rafe’s profile, gauging his reaction. He turns his head to you briefly, pausing as the car idles at a red light. Without missing a beat, he reaches over, taking your hand and intertwining his fingers with yours, rubbing his thumb gently across your skin in a way that makes your heart flutter.
But tonight, his words hit you before the warmth of his touch does. “I can’t. Sofia wants to go out later,” he says, his gaze flickering back to the road, oblivious to how your expression shifts instantly. The mention of her name is like a slap, and your expression falters instantly. You let out a scoff, the sound sharp and almost bitter.
Without thinking, you pull your hand out of his grasp and cross your arms over your chest, turning your gaze out the window. The hurt and jealousy you’ve been pushing down surge to the surface, making your chest tighten.“She’s still living with you?” The words leave your mouth more accusatory than you intend, but it doesn’t matter now.
You need him to feel what you’re feeling, to understand just how much Sofia is getting under your skin. Rafe’s eyes flicker to you, his brow furrowing slightly, but he doesn’t say anything right away. He rolls his tongue against his cheek, his gaze narrowing as he presses down on the gas pedal when the light turns green. You can tell he’s frustrated, but you want him to feel more than that.
“Y/n…” he says, the soft plea in his voice making you grit your teeth. He’s clearly trying to de-escalate the situation, but you’re not having it. His voice falters slightly when he says your name again, as if he’s unsure of how to handle you when you get like this. You don’t respond, eyes fixed on the road, even though you don’t see anything.
Your mind is consumed by the thought of Sofia still lingering in his life. “I don’t understand why you’re still with her!” you snap, turning to face him, your voice sharp with frustration. Your heart races, and you know exactly where this is going. You’ve been waiting for the right moment to make your move. Then, with a practiced vulnerability, you let your eyes soften, allowing tears to well up.
You turn your head slightly toward him, making sure he sees the hurt in your eyes. You know the exact tone to use, the one that cracks just enough for Rafe to feel guilty, to feel like he’s let you down. You draw in a deep, shaky breath, letting your eyes glisten with tears. With a careful tremor in your voice, you speak softly, like you’re letting out something painful. “After everything she did to me…”
Just as you anticipated, Rafe’s head snaps in your direction, confusion and concern filling his expression. His eyes dart between you and the road, brow furrowing as he tries to process your words. “What are you talking about?” You let the tears begin to fall, looking down as though ashamed, your shoulders subtly shaking as you pretend to hold back sobs.
“What did she do to you?” His eyes flickered back and forth from the road to your tear-streaked face, searching for answers. He was desperate, each glance showing his growing frustration and need to understand. “Y/n…” he said, his voice lower now, tinged with an edge of anger that made you shiver. “Tell me—what did Sofia do to you?”
His tone was a mix of urgency and something fiercer, like he was barely holding himself back. You continued to sob, letting your shoulders shake as you turned away, keeping up the act. Rafe’s jaw clenched, his patience wearing thin as he stared ahead, but his entire focus was on you.
~
“Hey babe, what’s up?” Sofia’s voice rings out, saccharine sweet, and it instantly makes you cringe. The way she says it, as if she’s trying to mask something, makes your skin crawl. Rafe’s eyes flicker over to you for a split second, taking in your tear-streaked cheeks, red from how much you’ve cried.
Your heart races, a cold pit settling in your stomach. You’ve made sure Rafe is in the right headspace, pushed all the right emotional buttons, and now it’s time to watch it unravel. Rafe’s grip on the steering wheel tightens as he presses the phone to his ear, his expression hardening into something unreadable.
The silence that stretches between him and Sofia is palpable. You can feel the tension in the air, the unease settling like a storm cloud. “Rafe… what’s wrong?” she coos, trying to soften the tension. You can tell she’s trying to maintain control, but you know it’s slipping. But Rafe is done. He’s had enough.
“Is it true? Is it true what Y/n just told me?” he demands, his voice suddenly low, razor-sharp. The words are a punch, sharp and deliberate, leaving no room for misunderstanding. There’s a long pause, a dangerous silence on the other end. You can hear Sofia’s shallow breathing, the way she’s stalling, trying to figure out how to save herself.
It’s almost like she’s trying to put on a mask for him, pretending everything’s fine, but you both know it’s not. Sofia’s mind races, the memories of her deal with Hollis flooding in through her mind. “Is what true?” she finally asks, her voice faltering, a hint of nervousness breaking through her usual façade. “Don’t play games with me, Sofia,” Rafe’s voice is firm now, his jaw clenched.
You can feel the weight of his anger simmering just beneath the surface, ready to burst. You watch Rafe closely, your chest tight with both anxiety and satisfaction. This is what you wanted. You wanted him to finally see her for what she truly is. And now, it’s all about to come crashing down for Sofia.
On the other end of the line, Sofia’s silence is deafening. You can almost hear her panic, her inability to talk her way out of this one. Rafe’s anger is too much, too raw. And it’s all aimed at her. Rafe can’t contain it anymore. He slams his fist against the steering wheel with a deafening sound, making you jump in your seat.
The force behind it makes the entire car shake, and his anger is now fully unleashed. His knuckles are white, his body tense with fury, and for a moment, you think he might explode. You can see the muscle in his jaw working, his anger mounting as he struggles to keep his cool. The tension in the air is suffocating, and you almost feel bad for Sofia—almost.
You got him here—you’ve got him angry at her, and it’s exactly what you wanted. “Pack your shit. Get out of my house,” Rafe says through gritted teeth, the words biting and final. His voice is low, full of rage that you can feel in the pit of your stomach. Sofia’s voice cracks on the other end. “What?” Her voice wavers, like she can’t believe what’s happening.
You can practically hear her trying to regain control, but it’s too late. Rafe scoffs, his patience wearing thin. “We’re done, Sofia. Done.” he seethes, his hand slamming against the wheel again with a force that makes the whole car jerk. You jump slightly, but you can’t help the small, satisfied smirk that pulls at the corners of your lips.
“Pack your shit and get the fuck out of my house,” Rafe repeats, his voice steady now, but laced with disgust. There’s no room for negotiation, no chance of a second chance. This is it. With one last frustrated breath, he ends the call, the click of the phone punctuating the finality of it all.

"Woahhh, am i in the afterlife?-"
"DUDE. WHAT THE HELL MAN. OUT OF ALLL THE MORTALS I COULDVE GIVEN A GIFT TO, I CHOOSE THE ONE GUY WHO NEVER FIGURES IT OUT???"
"Wha- are you like god or something? wait, I HAD A POWER??"
"YEA. I GAVE YOU THE POWER TO FREEZE TIME AT WILL AND YOU NEVER DID IT??? Waste of a perfectly good gift!!"
"HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW. I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT THIS?"
"YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO MAKE THE DAMN BALONEY SANDWICH."
"wha- what does a baloney sandwich have to do with this???"
"I WATCHED YOU FOR LIKE A MONTH. AND YOU ATE A BALONEY SANDWICH FOR LIKE EVERY MEAL. YOU JUST STOPPED ONE DAY AND NEVER DID IT AGAIN. WHAT THE HELL, MAN. YOU HAD LIKE 50 FUCKNGI YEARS TO EAT ONE FUCKIGN SANDWICH AND YOU COUDLNT DO THAT?"
"Wait. Is this about that time i was like, 20??? I swore off of baloney sandwiches forever after i found my girlfriend cheating on me. That was her favorite. i only had it cuz i was with her."
(mortal, under his breath)
"....That bitch really took my virginity and my godly powers??? DAMN IT!"
"AW OF FUCKING COURSE I CHOOSE THE ONE THING YOU NEVER ATE AGAIN. SHIT. "
"ok so i still dont see why i had to eat a baloney sandwich to use the power. why couldnt i just *use* it. why is this MY fault. YOU shouldve just made it easier to use."
"Wow, i give you powers and this is the fucking thanks i get? See if i ever help you again..."
"Ok so like the thing is im not actually powerful enough to give you a gift that powerful no strings attached. I had to choose an activation condition for it to work."
"And you chose BALONEY SANDWICH? not something like BREATHING?"
"I didn't want to make it obvious!! I wanted to have FUN with it but clearly you were too DENSE for it. Baloney sandwich was the most consistent non-obvious thing you did!! how was i supposed to know you were gonna stop the NEXT DAY?"
"Ok. So while this obviously sucks for both of us, can i use it now? In my afterlife?"
"If you can make a baloney sandwich. I dont see why not."
"Ok. Cool. Is there like a godly pantry i can get the ingredients from, or...."
"Yes, actually, down the hall, to the left, 2 doors down."
"Sweet."
"Oh yea i forgot to mention we only have whole wheat bread"
" >:( aw man. I hate whole wheat. It tastes like shit. What else, you're out of baloney?"
"No......"
"why'd you say it like that"
--------
"Ok i found your stupid bread. but where's the baloney. You said you had some."
"We do, but-"
"ok so where is it."
"-but we keep it in the underworld."
"Why??? What do you guys have against baloney??? Why is only IT condemned to the underworld???"
"No reason! I swear! the guy who runs the place just REALLY likes it and none of us really do, so we just let him keep it down there"
"Yknow since he's like. Already stuck working in the basement. we thought we'd give him SOMETHING."
*one very long and perilous journey for baloney later*
"ok YOU COULDVE AT LEAST TOLD ME HOW HARD THAT WAS GONNA BE."
"I told you, man. He REALLY likes baloney."
"Whatever. i ate your stupid sandwich. how do i activate it."
"Try clapping."
*nothing happens*
"What. Why didnt it work. I ate your stupid baloney sandwich."
"Did you remember to add the mayo?"
"MOTHERFUCKER-"
You're a god who has decided to give a mortal a gift. You decided to surprise them by not telling them about their new power. After a full life of normalcy, you greet them in the afterlife confused and angry as to how they didn't discover their power.

players/drivers I write for
Pau laid on y/n's couch, his head resting on the armrest with a slight grimace, trying to act casual despite the fresh stitches along his jawline. The injury had happened during his last match, an unfortunate clash that had left him with ten stitches and y/n with a heart full of worry. He’d been patched up by the team doctors, but that didn’t stop her from fretting over him.
y/n sat beside him, brushing a careful hand along his uninjured cheek, studying the stitches with a concerned frown. “Does it hurt a lot, Pau?” she asked softly, voice barely above a whisper.
He gave her a lopsided smile, clearly trying to look unfazed. “cariño, it’s just a few stitches. Nothing I can’t handle,” he replied, attempting to shrug off her worry.
She shot him a gentle but stern look. “Pau, it’s ten stitches across your jaw. Don’t act like this is just a scratch,” she murmured, running her fingers lightly through his hair. “You need to rest, and I’ll make sure you do.”
Pau let out a small sigh, reaching up to take her hand in his. “I know you’re studying to be a doctor and all, but I’m pretty sure the team patched me up well enough,” he teased, giving her hand a light squeeze.
She leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. “Well, maybe they did, but I still want to take care of you. You got hurt, Pau, and that’s not something I’m just going to brush off.”
He shifted slightly, pulling her closer so she was leaning over him, a playful look glimmering in his eyes. “Fine, but only because you’re so cute when you’re in ‘doctor mode,’” he teased, his voice soft.
She rolled her eyes, unable to hold back a small smile. “Pau, I’m serious. Now, have you had any water? You need to stay hydrated for healing,” she scolded gently, reaching for the glass she'd brought him earlier.
He chuckled softly, the sound a little muffled by the stitches, and took the glass from her hand, making a show of drinking. “Happy?” he asked, giving her a little wink as he set the glass down.
“Not yet,” she replied, brushing her thumb lightly over the edge of his jaw, careful to avoid the stitches. “But we’ll get there.”
His hand reached up to cup hers, holding it against his cheek as he gazed up at her. “Thank you for taking care of me, amor. I know you’re busy with your studies and all…”
She shushed him softly, leaning down to press a gentle kiss near the corner of his mouth. “You’re more important. Now, let me fuss over you, and stop trying to act like you don’t need it,” she whispered, her fingers tangling in his hair.
He grinned, a hint of mischief in his eyes despite his injury. “Guess I have no choice but to let my very cute, very smart med student girlfriend look after me,” he said, pulling her down into a warm hug, his arms wrapping around her tightly.
She relaxed into his embrace, careful to avoid his jaw but grateful to feel his warmth, his heartbeat steady beneath her cheek. It always amazed her how Pau could be so calm and lighthearted, even with stitches on his face. But she knew he was doing it mostly for her, to keep her from worrying too much.
Pau’s fingers traced gentle circles on her back, and he tilted his head slightly, looking at her with that same adoring expression. “You know, amor,” he started, a teasing tone slipping in, “if I knew getting hurt would get me this much attention from you, I’d have gotten injured ages ago.”
She pulled back slightly, playfully swatting his arm. “Pau Cubarsi, don’t you dare joke about that! You better not even think about getting hurt again. I was so worried when I saw you all bloody and in pain ” she scolded, but her voice softened as she met his gaze, the affection in his eyes making her heart flutter.
He chuckled, bringing her hand up to his lips and pressing a feather-light kiss to your fingers. “I promise, I’m kidding,” he murmured, his thumb grazing her hand. “But I have to admit… I love this side of you, so caring and worried.”
“You make it sound like I’m never caring,” she replied, pouting slightly.
“No, no,” he laughed, pulling her back into his arms. “You’re always caring. But right now, it’s like you’re my personal nurse. I kind of like it.”
She sighed, resting her head against his shoulder. “Just let me take care of you, okay?” she whispered, feeling her voice soften. “I want you to be all healed and safe. now do you need me to get you something?”
Pau pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head, his voice tender. “I’m already feeling better just being with you, cariño, I don't need a thing” he murmured. “It’s like you’re my medicine.”
She felt a warmth rise to her cheeks, and she couldn’t help but laugh softly. “You’re so cheesy, you know that?”
“For you? Always,” he grinned, his hand moving to stroke her cheek. “Now, doctor, what’s my next treatment? I think it might involve lots of cuddles.”
y/n rolled her eyes, laughing as she pulled him close again. “Fine, but only because you need it.” she shifted carefully, lying beside him on the couch so he could rest his head on her shoulder. His arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her close as he nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck.
“See? This is the best medicine,” he murmured, his lips pressing light kisses along her collarbone.
y/n giggled, feeling his warm breath against her skin. “I’m supposed to be taking care of you, not the other way around,” she reminded him, trying to keep a serious tone but failing as she felt herself melt into his embrace.
“Then just let me hold you,” he whispered, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek. “You’ve done enough, cariño. I’m okay now, really.”
She let out a sigh, relaxing in his arms, feeling his steady heartbeat beneath her fingertips. “I love you, Pau,” she whispered, voice barely audible.
He tilted his head, his eyes meeting hers with a soft, heartfelt gaze. “I love you too, amor. And thank you… for always being here. You have no idea how much it means to me.”
His words made her heart swell, and she reached up to cup his face, bringing him close enough for a gentle, lingering kiss. His lips were soft against hers, the familiar warmth filling her with a comforting peace.
When she finally pulled back, Pau’s eyes were still closed, a content smile playing on his lips. “Now, that’s what I call the perfect remedy,” he murmured, his voice a sleepy whisper.
y/n chuckled softly, brushing a stray lock of hair from his forehead. “Then get some rest, okay? Doctor’s orders.”
He opened one eye, giving her a playful smirk. “Only if you stay here with me, nurse.”
“Fine,” she whispered, settling into his arms and pressing one last kiss to his forehead.
She stayed close, feeling his breathing slow as he drifted into sleep, holding her tightly, as if he never wanted to let go.

in the studio, lit with soft pink and lavender lights, you glance over at chris, flashing him a teasing smile as you press play.
your new track—two hands—poured through the speakers. it's smooth, seductive, and sultry, with lyrics that are clearly all about him. each line is layered with flirty energy, painting him as your very own irresistible muse.
you sang in a way that was both playful and vulnerable, every "you" directed at him with a hint of something more. the lyrics describe the way he feels on top of you while you let everyone know he's yours. your voice is both sweet and daring, with a seductive edge that’s impossible to ignore,
"i want 'em all to see you look good on top of me."
"at this time of night, i need not one, not three—just your two hands on me."
chris leans back in his chair, listening intently. a smirk played on his lips, but you can see a spark in his eyes, too, like he knows exactly what you were doing. his arms are crossed as he continues to listen, the smirk only growing on his lips and he can't deny that there's a tightness growing in his jeans.
as your voice trailed off with the final lyric, you look at him with a mischievous grin, waiting for his reaction.
you let the final notes linger in the air, watching chris as the song fades out. he doesn’t say anything right away, just keeps looking at you with that smirk, like he's replaying the lyrics in his head.
your heart is pounding, and you're pretending to be calm, but inside you're dying to know what he thinks. you basically just put all your feelings out there in the open, wrapped up in those beats and lines about him.
“a'ight,” he finally says, leaning back in his chair as he swipes his tongue across his bottom lip. “so that’s how y'feel, huh?”
you laugh, rolling your eyes to hide the fact that you're a little embarrassed. “maybe,” you say, trying to sound casual, but you can feel your cheeks heating up. “or maybe i was just testing out a new vibe.” but he knows you too well for that.
chris shakes his head, a wicked grin spreading across his face. “nah, i know you. you don’t sing like that unless y'mean it.” he pauses, his eyes catching yours. “''n i like it. a lot.”
hearing him say that, in that voice, with that look in his eyes, sends a rush of butterflies through you. you lean back in your chair, pretending you're all relaxed, but you know he can see right through you.
chris leans forward, that playful look in his eyes shifting into something more intense. he stands up slowly, walking toward you, and you can feel your pulse quicken with every step he takes.
before you know it, he’s right there, close enough that you can smell his cologne, and he’s looking at you with this heat that makes you forget all the words in your own song.
“so y'think you can write sum'n like that 'n jus' leave me hangin'?” chris murmurs, his voice low and dominant, sending a thrill through you.
you laugh up at him, it comes out a little suggestive. “what, you liked it that much?”
chris doesn’t answer right away. instead, he takes your hand, pulling you up from your chair so you're standing right in front of him. his hands settle on your hips, and he pulls you just a little bit closer, his lustful eyes never leaving yours.
“liked it?” he scoffs, his voice a rough whisper. “y'put me in a song like that, lemme hear how much you love when m'on top'a you, lemme hear how much y'need my hands on ya…what's not t'like ma?"
chris leans in, his lips brushing against your ear as he whispers, “think s'my turn t'show you how much i liked that,” his fingers trail down your arm, leaving tingles in their wake.
he doesn’t stop there, though. his hand slides around the back of your neck to grip it roughly, and then he’s kissing you, slow and deep, as if he’s answering every line you wrote, like he’s trying to show you exactly how much he felt every word. the song is still in your head, but it’s mixed up now with the way he’s holding you, his touch, the way he’s making you feel right here and now.
chris' kisses are sloppy and hungry, a mixture of your tongues swirling together with clashing of teeth. he's hungry for you, he's almost desperate to get a taste, his other hand sliding down your back to squeeze your ass harshly.
he pushes you back down into your chair, his tongue prodding the inside of his cheek with a dangerous smirk down at you. you look up at him with an eager smirk, lust evident in both yours and his eyes.
"y'want it?" chris taunts, getting on his knees before you. his hands run up your thighs, sending a shiver down your spine while a stickiness settles in your thong.
"mhm," you hum, desire clear in your tone. chris scoffs, running his tongue over the top row of his teeth. the pinkness of the led lights in the empty studio cast a glimmer over his eager expression which only make you drip even more between your thighs.
"yeah?" chris taunts again, slowly riding your skirt up above your hips. his eyes catch the wet patch in your thong and he smirks, humming in amusement before he speaks, "look'a you, already fuckin' wet 'n i haven't even started."
"please," you murmur, your tone pleading and eager. your cunt is aching, throbbing for him. it's like an intense crave for his mouth as you stare down at him with desire in your eyes that glow beneath the led lights.
"what d'ya want ma? tell me 'n i'll give it t'ya," he says, his hands on your thighs running dangerously close to the area you need him most.
"need your mouth...and your fingers...please," you whimper, exhaling deeply.
chris hums, smirking darkly up at you, "there ya go, good girl," he says. but then an idea pops in his head and he reaches over to the desk, hitting play on your track before his smirk grows, "gonna give ya what y'need real good baby."
your song fills the studio again like a slow-burning flame, each note wrapping around the space and sinking into every corner, soft yet powerful. somehow it feels even more intimate in this moment with chris kneeling between your thighs, his fingers dipping into the waistband of your panties, his other hand caressing your inner thigh.
when he pulls them down to your ankles, pulling you closer to his face by your hips, you can feel yourself getting more and more eager.
chris' lips kiss your inner thighs teasingly, wet tiny kisses trailing up towards your sopping heat. it makes you whimper, the need and crave for him building up impossibly further. he grins against your skin, your whimpers make him even harder in his jeans—but tonight's about you.
he pushes your knees further apart and without warning, he's licking a long stripe up your heat making you gasp in response, your eyes immediately fluttering closed.
he smirks up at you, his tongue continuously licking all around your drenched cunt before he leans back. his smirk deepens at the sight before him, your center glistening with arousal beneath the pink lights.
chris raises his hand, delivering a rough smack to your pussy. you squeal, flinching a bit and he laughs darkly, "taste so fuckin' sweet f'me, mama, so good."
he quickly latches his lips onto your swollen bundle of your nerves, your song echoing in your ears as your eyes immediately roll back, hands flying to tangle in his hair.
chris sucks and licks at your clit, moving one of his hands from your thigh to slide his middle finger inside of you with ease, a squelch mixing into the lyrics of your track.
"o-oh chris..." you whine, your hips involuntarily bucking up against his mouth. he growls out a snicker, pushing your hips back down with his free hand as he uses his other to pump his finger in and out of you.
his lips coat in your juices as he sucks vigorously on your pink nub, licking quicker with every passing second and before you know it, he's sliding another finger into your dripping pussy.
the sensation makes you gasp and moan loudly, pulling at his hair as you throw your head back. your face is all fucked out, he smirks up at you when he sees it and hums against you. it sends a vibration through your trembling body, only pushing you closer.
"c-chris...f-feels so good," you whimper, panting in and out, the lewd slurps and squelches mixing with your song pumping through the studio.
he releases his lips, licking your glimmering arousal off of them as he looks up at you, "mhm, i know," he coos with a cocky smirk.
before you can get a word in, he catches your clit back in his mouth but this time it's at an even ungodlier pace than before. his fingers are pumping in and out of you rougher now and you feel yourself right on the edge.
your fingers are tugging and pulling at his brown locks, your head thrown back and your expression twisted in ecstasy while you mewl softly. your spongy walls clench around his fingers, making him smirk against your pussy, "gonna cum f'me baby? yeah, c'mon, can feel ya squeezin' my fingers."
you pant in and out and then your body stiffens. your high washes over you like a waterfall, your legs trembling, your hips grinding against his face as you moan out, "o-oh fuck! c-chris! mmph!" repeating his name over and over like a lewd chant.
"yeeeah, there it is, atta girl," he praises, licking up every last drop of your sweet cum as if it's the best thing he's tasted.
you pant deeply, coming down from your high. your song fades out and he picks his head up, smirking down at your worn out pussy as he bites his lip. he delivers another slap to it, making you gasp and flinch, "m'girl's got such a pretty pussy, tastes so pretty."
he licks his fingers soaked in your cum and arousal clean, his eye contact with your half lidded eyes never ceasing. you stare at him with parted lips as he stands up, catching your breath with a now tired expression.
he smiles, a little breathless. “y'know you’re gonna have t'keep writin' songs like that, right?”

I Hate You, I Love You- part 5
Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. Part 4.
Summary: Christmas Day, and then some...
WC: ~3.95k
Tumblr media
You must end up falling asleep against the redhead again, because the next time you’re coherent of anything around you, Melissa isn’t there with you. You peel your eyes open, and she isn’t even in the room.
“What the hell?” you grumble to yourself. Your silent question of where the woman could possibly be is answered when she walks into the bedroom with two mugs filled with coffee.
“Hey,” Melissa smiles at you. Her eyes are soft and her smile is sweet. “Merry Christmas.” She makes her way to you and hands you the mug with your drink once you’ve sat up enough to drink the coffee.
“Merry Christmas,” you sigh quietly as you blow over the steaming mug. You take a sip and smile. You’re surprised she fixed your coffee perfectly to your liking. “You know how I like my coffee.”
“Well, we did go over it a few times,” the redhead chuckles as she sits on the mattress. “But I also do have a good memory, you know.”
“I know,” you smirk at her. “I just didn’t think you would-”
“Y/N.” Green eyes are rolled at you. “I’ve watched you make your coffee everyday for the past year and a half at school. Of course I know how you like it.”
You enjoy your first cup of coffee in bed with your ‘girlfriend’ before you sigh and throw the blankets off of your body. You shiver immediately. Before you know what’s happening, Melissa is pulling an old Abbott Elementary sweatshirt out of her bag and offering it to you.
“I- I can just wear my own,” you stammer out. God, why is she being so nice to you in private?
“Just put it on,” Melissa tells you. She holds it out more aggressively, and you can’t help the tired laugh that comes from your lips. You take it graciously, and your colleague just gives a victorious smirk.
“Thank you,” you mumble as you throw the hoodie over your head.
The redhead nods. “Alright, we should probably get down there. Your parents were asking if you were awake when I went down earlier for coffee.”
You groan. “But I’m comfortable.”
“And you can get comfortable on the couch while you eat the cinnamon buns your mom made.”
You’re out of bed in an instant, running for the door. Melissa can’t help the way that she laughs at your excitement. “Hun, they’ll still be down there when we get there.”
“You don’t understand!” you call back. You’re already halfway down the steps. “These things are my favorite things in the world!”
The redhead just rolls her eyes and grabs your discarded mug from the nightstand on your side of the bed before following in your direction.
When she gets downstairs, you already have a plate of the sugary breakfast pastry in front of you. It’s a considerable stack, and green eyes just look at you, clearly amused.
“Did you forget something?” Melissa holds your mug up teasingly before making her way over to the coffee pot and making you another cup. When it’s finished, she comes over, and you practically pull her to sit in your lap. She makes a small noise in surprise before she smiles softly and wraps her arm around her shoulder to help balance herself.
“Open up,” you instruct as you cut off a piece of one of the cinnamon rolls. You hold it up to her mouth and wait for her to take the bite. When she does, you hear the soft moan she lets out, and- oh shit. That just lit a fire in you that you weren’t expecting. Holy shit, that was hot.
“Your mom made that?” Melissa asks through a mouthful.
You cough lowly, trying to extinguish the flame that her moan did to you. “Uh, y-yeah. Every Christmas.”
“I can’t wait to have this every Christmas with you.” It’s a hushed whisper, so nobody else would be able to hear it, even with Aunt Jo now at the coffee maker. She says it with so much conviction you almost believe her. You’re not quite sure how to respond, so you just lean in and kiss her lips. Somehow, this kiss feels more natural than the rest of them. It’s warm and soft, filled with a sleepy morning haze despite the caffeine already rushing through your veins, and you can taste the cinnamon glaze on her lips. This kiss too, lasts longer than the other quick pecks that you’ve shared over the weekend- this is a real kiss.
When you pull away, your cheeks heat up, and you giggle slightly. Melissa just presses your foreheads together and smiles before pecking your lips again.
That’s when your Aunt Jo clears her throat as she enters the kitchen. “Girls, we’re all very happy that you’re in love, but please… not at the kitchen counter.”
The shade of red that your cheeks becomes is about the shade of your ‘girlfriend’s’ hair. “S- sorry Aunt Jo.”
She just shakes her head in good nature. “No you’re not.” She fixes her coffee quickly before giving the two of you a wink and exiting quickly.
You look to Melissa and take a deep breath, clearly getting ready to confront what is happening between the two of you- this is something different than what yesterday was. But she just gives you a look that tells you, not now. Your coworker believes that you’re going to tell her to tone it down, and selfishly, she doesn’t want to. She’s treating you the way she’s wanted to treat you for a long while now, and she’s seeing the sweet side of you that doesn’t hate her. She doesn’t want to let that go- not quite yet.
And because you find yourself enjoying this little life that the two of you have right now, you agree with a soft nod of your head. You do pick up the plate in front of you and your coffee though and jerk your head in the direction of the living room. She picks up her own coffee mug and follows you in.
While you sit on the couch, Melissa goes for the blanket that you were using last night. She knows you were cold this morning, so grabbing the blanket while she’s still standing as opposed to sitting is a good choice in her opinion. She drapes it over your lap before pulling you in close as she settles in with you.
“Merry Christmas,” you greet your parents with a smile on your face. The redhead repeats your words, to which your parents give warm smiles.
“Did the two of you sleep well?” your father asks.
You nod. “Was just kinda cold. But Lis was there to help.”
“Finally found yourself a human furnace?” your mom chuckles. “Even in sweatpants, and your-” She catches a look at the Abbott sweatshirt with dates from before you were at the school. “your girlfriend’s sweatshirt?”
“How sweet,” Aunt Jo coos. “Sharing clothes. I remember always stealing my husband’s clothes… still wear them sometimes when I need a reminder he’s still here with me.”
Melissa just dots a few kisses to your hairline before stealing the fork from your hand and feeding herself a bite of your shared breakfast.
After breakfast, your parents bring out a few presents that they got for you despite the fact that you told them repeatedly you don’t need any Christmas presents anymore. They also managed to get Melissa a few little trinkets. Green eyes sparkle with appreciation for your family. You pull out the little gifts that you purchased for your parents and your Aunt Jo; they take them gratefully. And then they look to you and your coworker with expectant looks.
“We decided to do presents tomorrow,” Melissa explains the reason you don’t have gifts for each other.
The three older adults nod, and your dad has a smirk. “Don’t wanna get caught opening something ridiculous in front of us?”
You just put your head in your hands at what your father has just insinuated.
“Al!” your mother smacks his arm.
Christmas Day passes by in a blissful haze full of warm drinks, soft kisses, blankets piled high, and “A Christmas Story” on repeat. You allow yourself to fully relax in the presence of Melissa for the first time. It doesn’t feel like it’s for show- her kisses are longer, they’re sweeter, you feel like you crave them. If her arm isn’t around you or her hand isn’t somewhere on your body, you feel cold. But the second she’s back with you, you feel like you’re on top of the world. None of this feels like an act to you anymore, as much as you know it is. Because the second you leave your parents’ house and leave this fake life that you’ve created behind, Melissa Schemmenti will be back to the hard ass teacher that you love to hate.
After a day that passes by quickly, you and Melissa find yourself retiring to your bedroom for the night. And you that as much as you don’t want to let go of this, it’s all a fantasy- it isn’t real. At the core of you, you hate the redhead that you’ve spent the weekend with.
“Lis,” you sigh. “We need to-”
“Not tonight,” your grade level partner stops you from saying anymore. “Please.”
“You don’t even know what I’m going to say,” you counter.
She quirks her lips to one side. “I do. Can we please just… not tonight?”
You take pity on her and relent. “Okay.”
She gives you a grateful look, and then she’s crawling into bed. You climb in next to her, and you attempt to keep your distance despite the fact that you want nothing more than to curl into her hold and allow her to keep you safe in her arms for this last night.
Your dreams are quite similar to the ones you had the previous night, and you heart tells you unconsciously what you truly want in life. You want Melissa. You want all of the warmth that came with this weekend. You want to be the one who allows the rough and tough second grade teacher to let down her walls and show you a side of her very few people get to see- you want a life with her.
When you blink your eyes open, it’s four in the morning- at least that’s what the clock on the nightstand says. It takes you a few seconds to recognize the fact that both you and Melissa curled into each other while you were asleep. Once again, your two bodies have interlaced, and it’s hard to decipher where your figure ends and hers begins.
You press a soft kiss to her head, allowing yourself to stay in this sleepy stupor until your brain catches up to your body. But then it does and you slowly, as to make sure that she stays asleep, you untangle yourself from the redhead. You slip out of the bed and make your way over to the chair that faces the window. You lower yourself into it and take a deep breath before you begin to silently hash out your feelings.
You absolutely adore this sweet and warm side of Melissa that she’s shown you. You believe that even the side of her that is so hard and difficult to read wouldn’t even frustrate you as much as it used to because you feel like it’s a front at this point in your relationship with your colleague. To you, it seems as though her exterior protects the sweet side of her. Perhaps she’s been burned before, or maybe she was taught to keep that inside of her to protect herself.
Regardless, Melissa Schemmenti is not nearly as tough as she plays, and you feel honored to know that she has a soft side, even if it was for show. But then your mind wanders to the fact that she did and said a few things to you in privacy, or so quietly in front of your family that you doubt they could hear her- she allowed her true colors to slip through the cracks.
You don’t notice that tears begin to trail down your face- you’re in love with this woman. But she hates you- she absolutely detests you and everything that you are, at least that’s what you think. So, despite it being the last thing that you want to do, you make the decision that you will go back to hating the redhead as soon as you are out of this house. You’ve always hated her. It’s what’s expected of you at this point. It’s what you have to do. You have to forget about the last two days full of warmth and kindness and what you’ve come to realize morphed into a real love for the redhead. And it breaks you heart to the point that you feel a physical ache in your chest.
In all of your heartache, you also don’t notice the way that Melissa blinks her eyes open. She doesn’t see you laying next to her, and she assumes that you’ve just gotten up to go to the bathroom. But then she hears your quiet sniffles from where you’re sitting a few feet away, facing the window and looking up at the moon. Silently, the redhead makes her way over to you sighs softly.
You jump just slightly once you’re made aware of the fact that your coworker is awake and standing with you. You don’t even turn- just wipe away the tears on your cheeks. Melissa’s soft hands are on your shoulders, and she can feel how tense you are. She quietly begins to attempt to work out some of the tension that you’re holding.
“You want to tell me what’s got you up and cryin’ at 4:30 in the mornin?” You feel a kiss being brushed against your hairline- once, twice, and then a third time.
You allow her to, somewhat melting at her touch. But then you can’t quite hold it in anymore, and you burst out of your seat. The redhead jumps at your sudden movement, but she allows you to get up. You rush your way over to your bag and pull out the three hundred dollars that you know you owe her.
“Take it,” you huff as you hold out the bills aggressively. “Take it, and then we can go back to hating each other like we always do.”
Melissa frowns and shakes her head. “I’m not taking your money, Y/N.”
“What?” you ask her incredulously. “What the hell do you mean you’re not taking it?” You throw the cash at her.
She squats down and picks it up with a few grunts. She holds it out for you to take, but you refuse. “I won’t take your money because I don’t want it.”
“You? Not wanting money? That’s rich. Isn’t that why you did this? Came to my parents’ house with me for Christmas- for the money?” you hiss out. “You hate me, I hate you, and this is all just an elaborate lie for me to get my parents off my-”
“You’re so fucking stupid,” Melissa mutters as she folds her arms over her chest. “So fucking stupid.”
“I’m stupid? I’m stupid?” you ask her. “I’m not the one who agreed to come to a woman’s parents’ house when I hate her!”
“Have you ever considered the fact that maybe I don’t hate you?” the redhead asks you. “That I actually like you and enjoyed being here with you?”
You scoff. “You’ve always hated me- always hated new coworkers! We’ve never liked-” Your cut off because Melissa pulls you in for a kiss and stops your tirade. You’re frozen in your place for a few seconds before you kiss her back. Her hand finds its way to your cheek, and she cups it gently, a complete opposite of the way that she’s passionately kissing you. She pulls you closer by the waist with her other hand.
When air becomes a necessity, you pull away with eyes as wide as saucers. “Wha-?”
“I don’t hate you,” Melissa whispers. “I mean… I wanted to. But the things that I told your family yesterday about me fallin’ for you? That wasn’t a lie- not in the slightest.”
“What?”
Green eyes are soft as she looks into your own. “I never hated you, hun.”
“What?” you repeat.
“I wanted to,” she chuckles that soft warm laugh as her arms wrap around your waist and pull you in close. “I wanted to hate you more than I hated Janine at first- because I knew you were stunningly gorgeous, and if I at least hated your personality, you would be easier to avoid and not fall for.”
“You-”
“But then you hated me and weren’t afraid of me- wasn’t afraid to show it either,” Melissa chuckles. “And I liked that. Most newbies are terrified of me, but you weren’t. You had a fire in ya, and I liked that. So, to keep your attention, I pretended to hate you. The only way to get your attention was to be snarky and sarcastic- I’d rather have you hate me than not have you talk to me.”
“You’re-”
“Besides, it’s fucking hot when you’re all riled up and angry,” the redhead shrugs. “But I think I like the soft side of you more.”
“I- I-” you stammer out. “I thought you hated me this whole time….” you whisper, and then you lean over and kiss her again. “That’s why I hated you.”
“Like I said, I wanted to,” Melissa chuckles. “But I never did. You’re good at the job, the kids love you, the rest of the staff likes you. And you’re beautiful. What’s not to like?”
“So… you really never hated me this whole time?”
She shakes her head. “Nah. I like givin’ you a hard time though, don’t get me wrong. But it was kinda my way of flirting after a while.”
“You’re an idiot,” you laugh as you kiss her again.
“So are you,” she mutters against your lips.
You pull away again, and you smile as you press your foreheads together. “So…”
“If it wasn’t clear to you already, none of this weekend was acting for me,” the redhead tells you softly. “This is how I’ve wanted to be with you since you started.”
“I-” you hesitate. “How am I supposed to know it wasn’t acting though? I mean… I was dreading this weekend, and I- I fell for the sweet Melissa I got to see for the past few days, but if that’s not who I’m really going to-”
“Y/N,” your colleague sighs. She takes you gently by the hand and leads you back to the bed. The two of you lay down, and she holds you close. “I’m always goin’ t’be a South Philly girl, but I do have a heart and soul- wouldn’t be a teacher otherwise. I- I can’t promise that I’ll ever stop bein’ a sarcastic asshole, but I do have my moments of tenderness. That wasn’t acting. I’ve wanted to hold you and kiss you and stop having to pretend to hate you for some time now. I’ve loved this weekend- your family is something special, and I can see where you get all your spunk and sweetness from. I like it. I like you- love you, even.”
You bite your bottom lip and look at her in the darkness. “I- I like you too. And I think… I think there might be something between us that’s real.”
“I think so too,” Melissa mumbles against your head. “You wanna give it a shot? A real shot- me an’ you?”
A smile appears on your face. “I think I’d like that.”
Christmas the next year is a fun one. After beginning to officially date, you and Melissa fell head over heels in love with each other. This year, the two of you make your way up to your parents’ house as an actual couple, and not just as a fake couple. You’re fairly certain your parents are more excited to see Melissa than they are to see you; Aunt Jo too.
“Oh, it’s so good to see you again!” your mother pulls the redhead into a tight hug. Your girlfriend hugs back with the same fervor, although she does roll her eyes.
“I saw you last week, Nora,” Melissa quips. “But it’s good to see you too.”
“Came back for more?” your dad chuckles as he too hugs your colleague.
She nods. “I wouldn’t want to spend our first year as a couple anywhere else.”
Your eyes widen. You had never told your parents that last year was not real. “Second,” you quickly amend.
But Aunt Jo is too fast to catch on. “No, no. She said first.”
The two of you share a quick glance, and your lips form into a tight line before you sigh. “So… I have something to confess.”
Years later, you’re officially Mrs. Schemmenti. You have a beautiful little girl, Sara. She’s just turned two, and she couldn’t be more of a light in your life. But you’ve also finally gotten her settled in bed and asleep. You and your wife are laying on the couch together as you usually do after a long day of teaching and then coming home to handle your own little tornado of a child (you often tell the redhead that that part of your little girl comes from her entirely).
You’re admiring your engagement and wedding rings before you look to Melissa’s. You don’t get to look at hers for long though, because you hear your baby crying from just up the stairway, and you sigh.
The redhead just buries a kiss in your hair before promising that if Sara doesn’t settle, she’ll go up. And the crying doesn’t stop, so you feel yourself being shimmied off of Melissa five minutes later before she heads up the stairs. A few moments later, she returns with your baby girl in her arms.
“Oh honey,” you instinctively reach for your daughter.
“Baby girl just wanted Momma,” Melissa rolls her eyes playfully as she hands over the little one. “Never Ma, always Momma. Ain’t that right, Sara?”
Your daughter just gives a toothy grin as she lays her head on your shoulder.
Where you would normally lean into the couch cushions to attempt to soothe your little girl to sleep, you sit up straight, and your brows furrow.
“What’s wrong, mi amore?” your wife asks in concern. This is so unlike you.
You shake your head and smile. “I just got this… this feeling of deja vu. Like I’ve lived this moment before.”
“Maybe you dreamt it,” the redhead offers as she cozies up to you on the couch and begins to run her fingers through your little girl’s wispy hair.
You think for a few moments before you know why you know this moment. “I- I had a dream about this moment that first Christmas we spent together… it was this moment.”
“You mean the Christmas we pretended to be together?”
You nod. “I- wow. I should’ve known then and there that I was going to fall in love with you.”
“And instead, you denied your feelings like an idiota,” Your wife laughs before she presses a kiss to your head.
“You were an idiot too,” you fire out, but the glimmer in your eyes tells her that you have no ill-intention with those words.
She shrugs. “Hey, I still got the girl, didn’t I?"
You roll your eyes as you purse your lips for her to kiss you. Of course, she does. "I guess you did."
And just like that... this sweet little fic is over. I hope you enjoyed!
Xoxo -Janey

thinking of a new steddie fic/au hmmm.
It’s just the classic, Steve buys weed from Eddie in season 1 era, he and Tommy meet him at the bench in the woods behind school. Steve and Eddie have some playful banter and clearly get along, but it’s dismissed as just a drug deal and they go on about their lives.
Next time they meet is when a frantic Steve comes and finds Eddie after he’s just fought off the demogorgon for the first time. He’s rattled, and skittish, wearing a nasty black bruise on his eye, and just overall not acting like himself. He snaps at Eddie multiple times to just ‘hurry up’ and ‘get him his stuff’, and sure he’s being an asshole, but more than anything Eddie is just concerned. He has never seen The King Steve Harrington lose his cool like this. So Eddie cautiously gives him the weed, making sure not to give too much, and lets him go about his day, but not before asking if he’s alright. Steve clearly wasn’t expecting this and brushes it off defensively, but that doesn’t mean he’s not thinking about it for the rest of his week. How the hell did Eddie Munson notice something was wrong, when his own parents didn’t? Nor his “friends”?
They cross paths again a year later, the beginning of season two. Steve is still with Nancy and has freshly dumped his old douchebag crew of superficial friends. He is still sitting quite comfortably on the higher ranks of popularity, but there is no denying his status is not what it used to be. He comes to buy weed from Eddie in the first week back at school, and it’s a casual interaction. He’s still as charmingly stuck up as he ever was, but now without Tommy there to judge his every move, he seems a little more at ease when making casual conversation with Eddie. Eddie doesn’t mention the year before and Steve is so glad for it, secretly very embarrassed that he went to Eddie for some refuge after arguably his most traumatic experience to date. He gets his stuff, giving Eddie a smirk when he notices he’s dropped the price significantly for Steve when it’s just him alone. Eddie gives him a challenging smile back, almost daring him to call it out, but he doesn’t. They both just laugh and part ways.
The next run in is tina’s halloween party. They notice eachother when Steve first arrives, making eye contact and giving a polite nod. Maybe Eddie lifts his drink up to Steve in a silly salute. They don’t speak at all or make any effort to hang around eachother. That is, until Steve storms down the stairs in a rage after he’d gone up there with Nancy Wheeler. But then are those- tears? Eddie was standing on the front porch smoking a cigarette, trying to discreetly hide from one Billy Hargrove to avoid having to sell him anything, but staying visible enough that he won’t lose all chances of making any money tonight. Steve storms right past him and hits his shoulder. Eddie whips around and is about to call him a dick before he sees who it is.
Steve tries to quickly wipe his face, he won’t make eye contact with Eddie, and he’s clearly trying to get out as fast as he can. Eddie doesn’t let him, though, since he’s obviously not thinking very clearly and is most likely about to do something emotional and stupid. He asks if Steve’s alright, and his answers are all short and rushed, so he’s definitely not. They’re not really friends, but Eddie’s not an asshole.
— “Did you drive?” Eddie asks
“Yeah”
“Well, you’re drunk, Steve. You can’t get behind a wheel right now. And if I knowingly let you, then that makes me an accomplice. I’ll take you home.”
Steve tries to protest, attempting to push past him, but Eddie interjects. “Yeah, yeah, alright! Don’t thank me yet, Steve’o. This is not for you, see, I’m not trying to get a criminal record, here. I cant go to prison, Steve. Do you know what they’d do to a pretty guy like me in prison? Nope, let’s go hot stuff.” —
Eddie takes Steve home. They don’t talk much. By the time they reach Steve’s drive way and Eddie has put his van in park, Steve is making no attempt to exit the vehicle just yet. Eddie doesn’t know what to do, he didn’t really plan this far, so he’s just tapping away awkwardly at his steering wheel while Harrington stares down the dashboard so clearly lost in thought Eddie fears his head might explode. Steve tells Eddie what happened, says it’s ‘relationship troubles’, and he’s not quite sure what compelled him into being so honest with Eddie Munson, but he’s blaming the alcohol. Eddie wasn’t expecting that. They chat for a bit, Eddie makes Steve laugh and considers the whole night a success after that. Then they start cracking jokes about their shared hatred for Hargrove, and Steve looks and sounds a bit more ok to go inside. He thanks Eddie, quite sincerely actually, and it throws him a bit. He stutters a ‘yeah, for sure. It’s no problem.’ And Steve goes home.
After that, it’s a little different. Steve, doesn’t actually really have anyone, anymore. When they go back to school he’s now greeting Eddie here and there in the hallways, making conversation when they find themselves alone together, in the lunch line or at the bathroom sink. He doesn’t approach Eddie when there’s too many people around, though. As much as he’s grown, Steve Harrington still carry’s some prejudice in him about how certain things may make him look. But it doesn’t bother Eddie too much. It’s not like they are really friends, they’re just like, strange acquaintances. And Steve would never deny that they get along, that really Eddie’s ‘not so bad’. So that’s a win.
Steve finds Eddie again not long after the party to buy some more weed, a plan that sparked purely out of boredom. Eddie says yes, of course, but tells him if he wants it today he will need to wait till after school and meet Eddie at his place, since he was busy. So Steve takes a trip to the Munson trailer to make his deal. Eddie invites him inside and they sit together on the couch as he gets Steve’s bag ready. They end up making quite pleasant conversation, joking around and ultimately finding they are really enjoying each other’s company. They enjoy it so much so, that Steve ends up smoking there, with Eddie. So now they are kind of like, hanging out? And it’s fun, so they do it again. Still they’re not, friends friends, they just get along. Eddie just sells Steve weed sometimes and they keep it civil.
He doesn’t hear from Steve for a while, and the next time he sees him it’s from a distance, in passing. The man has the most roughed up face Eddie has ever seen, bruised and swollen in multiple areas, stitches and bandages all over. It’s really, concerning? completely metal, but alarming. This is the second time Eddie has seen the guy all beaten up like that. He knew that boys fight, but surely not that bad? As worried as he was, Eddie doesn’t approach him to ask questions, because they don’t know eachother like that. So he goes on about his day, and he doesn’t see Steve again after that for quite some time.
Then it’s summer, Eddie isn’t graduating again, and he’s not really sure what to do with himself over the break. The new mall has just opened up, and there’s a cool music store up on the second floor that he likes to visit sometimes with his band friends. And wouldn’t you know, working at the Scoops Ahoy located directly across from his favourite store, is Steve Harrington. The guy hasn’t come to Eddie for any weed since last year, and then there was that sighting where he looked like he’d just fallen face first into a flying fist or two, so it’s been a minute since Eddie’s seen him. And he’d be lying if he said it wasn’t a nice surprise. He only goes into scoops once. He’s curious, okay? Sue him. And, he knows the girl who works with him, Robin. So he plays it off like he had no idea he’d see Steve there. And to his surprise, Steve actually acknowledges him. He doesn’t act like Eddie is a total stranger just because they’re not in school anymore. The interaction is quick, they make very casual conversation, Eddie says hi to Robin, grabs his milkshake and goes home. That’s all. He doesn’t go back, and he doesn’t really plan to. Steve’s nice, and he knows Eddie’s around if he needs to buy from him again, and that’s really as far as their relationship goes. That’s all it ever was. It’s been fun getting to know Steve Harrington a little bit better, even if it was just for a short time. Eddie liked having the chance to see in past the quaffed hair and pressed polo shirts to learn that Steve was really just a person under it all. He never thought he’d say it, but Harrington wasn’t so bad. It was a nice little eye opening experience for Eddie.
Eddie was ready to write off his little blips of interaction with Steve Harrington as a thing of the past, no hard feelings, and move on with his life. That is, until he gets a knock at his front door in the middle of the night afew days after the big mall fire. And it’s Steve on the other side. And he looks awful, his face is the worst Eddie’s ever seen it. And he wasn’t really knocking, more like pounding. He says he needs Eddie’s help.
What the fuck?

peter had been on high alert ever since the mission that left you with nasty gashes across your abdomen. the memory of you collapsing, blood soaking through your suit, haunted him, and he’d been an absolute wreck ever since. even now, with bandages wrapped snug around your waist and most of the pain fading to a dull ache, he still treated you like you were on death’s doorstep. “okay, careful, careful,” he’d mutter every time you so much as shifted on the bed. peter would zip over in a blur, fluffing pillows and checking the bandages even when you insisted you were fine.
you had tried to hint that you wanted his attention for something other than fussing over you. but to your disappointment, he’d just shake his head, “uh, no can do, babe,” he’d say, practically vibrating with nervous energy. “you need rest, and i’m, like, a terrible influence when it comes to resting. last thing i wanna do is, y’know, make things worse.”
but you were feeling better. really. and you were tired of the distance he was forcing between you, however well-intentioned it was. late one night, you woke up feeling restless, perhaps a little too desperate. the ache of your injuries having dulled considerably, transferring to a different kind of ache, slow and burning between your thighs. peter was sprawled next to you, completely conked out and snoring softly. wincing, you adjusted yourself into a more comfortable position before slipping your fingers under the waistline of your panties.
you squirmed at the much-needed contact, hoping it would be enough to take the edge off. you bit your lip, trying to stifle any moans… but your small fingers were far from enough to ease some of the pent-up frustration from two long weeks of forced rest. but then, just as you finally felt the tickle of a weak orgasm, you heard your boyfriend let out a low, sleepy groan.
“hey… what’s goin’ on?” you turned your head to see him blinking himself awake, silver hair sticking up in all directions. as his eyes adjusted to the darkness, they landed on the guilty look on your face, how your hands were conveniently under the covers. a slow, lazy grin spread across his face as he put two and two together.
“wait a sec…” he raised an eyebrow, looking far too pleased with himself. “are you…?” heat flooded your cheeks, and you froze, pulling the blanket up over your face in embarrassment. “peter, it’s nothing. just… go back to sleep,” you mumbled, but he only chuckled, clearly enjoying this far too much.
“wait, are you…?” he asked, a hint of poorly concealed amusement in his voice. “no way.” he stretched out his arms and looked at you, that amused smirk making your face go even hotter. “you couldn’t just ask me for help?”“peter,” you whispered, mortified, pulling the blanket up in an attempt to hide your face.
“just—g-go back to sleep.”
“nah, can’t do that now,” he gently tugged the blanket back down to see your face. his smile turned downright devious. “you’re over here trying to go solo when i’m literally right here?” he scoffed, shaking his head. “babe, i’m almost offended. i thought we were supposed to be a team.”
you buried your face in your hands, utterly embarrassed. but, to your surprise, the teasing stopped immediately; off like a switch. peter nudged your hands away gently, looking at you with earnest concern.
“look,” he began, softer this time, “i know you’re still healing, but—i’ll get back in the groove real quick. don’t want you wearing yourself out, right?” peter flexed his fingers, stretching them out with a flourish, and then, his whole hand started to tremble, no that wasn’t the right word — his hand was vibrating. there was a slight blur to it, as his fingers quivered like a hummingbird’s wings, the movement almost imperceptible to the naked eye.
“…or did you forget my specialty?” he wiggled his eyebrows. you giggled despite yourself, embarrassment starting to melt away as peter braced himself with one forearm planted carefully by your side, making sure not to press into your bandaged torso. “so… what do you say?” he whispered into your ear, “let me take care of you?”
and just like that, you were granted something you’d been denied for weeks. peter had always prided himself on his unique style of “multitasking”. thanks to his ADHD, focusing on one thing wasn’t exactly his strong suit, but with you, he was hell-bent on trying. besides, he was pretty sure he could handle it—especially since you’d made it clear you really needed him right now.
“mghm ohmygod yes, right there, right there–”
he let out a little chuckle at your enthusiasm, lips brushing along your jawline as his vibrating fingers plunged in and out of you. “you know i kept telling myself, ‘peter, you gotta be responsible, let her heal,’” his voice dropped, almost like he was letting you in on some big secret.
“but… c’mon, you’re you. how was i supposed to stay away?” he moved to press a kiss just below your ear, letting out a little dramatic sigh. normally, you would’ve been slightly annoyed with peter’s chattiness, but his voice now possessed a soothing quality that served the purpose to ground you… and distract you from the lewd squelches that reached your ears.
“fuck, you’re, like, my kryptonite. i missed you like this,” your fingers were tangled in his hair, threading through the soft, messy silver strands, and as you gave a gentle tug, peter let out a low hum of contentment. his eyelids fluttered for a second, the corners of his mouth tugging up into a lazy grin as his lips continued their slow, lazy journey from your collarbone down to the soft curve of your breast.
“mhm, keep doin’ that baby. you’re so good fer me.”
he mumbled against your skin, swirling his tongue around your rock-hard nipple while sinking in knuckle-deep. reduced to nothing but a writhing mess in the sheets, the only response that sounded from you was a strained whimper, the moment you felt his fingers curl against your sweet spot. the glorious stretch made you realise just how much you were missing out in this two weeks of abstinence, and how hard it must’ve been for peter as well—judging by the way his hips were rocking against the mattress.
“should’ve woken me up sooner—would’ve saved you a whole lotta trouble.” another moan slipped past your lips as peter began to thrust his fingers with more vigour, reaching deeper than you never thought possible while simultaneously maintaining that delicious vibration in his fingertips. the heat that had been building in the pit of your stomach was fuelled with each stroke of his thumb on your on your clit, and within seconds, a mind-numbing pleasure set your entire bloodstream ablaze. as you rode out your orgasm, peter’s other hand slid over yours, lacing your fingers together.
as your breathing finally started to even out, you glanced over at your boyfriend, who was watching you with that soft, starry-eyed look, his teeth catching on his bottom lip. he caught you staring and gave you a small, lopsided smile, reaching over to brush a few stray hairs from your face. “feelin’ better?” you nodded yes, still catching your breath, and leaned forward to press a slow, lingering kiss to his lips, feeling the heat of his erection poke against your abdomen.
when you pulled back, you whispered, “i wanna do something for you, too. with you, to be exact.”
his eyes widened, that hint of pink deepening in his cheeks. for a second, he just stared, looking torn, like he was debating with himself. you could practically see the gears turning in his head, weighing his worry against his own need for you. then peter sighed deeply, running a hand through his messy hair, trying to muster his usual bravado.“okay, fine,” he finally relented, shifting to move on top of you carefully, his hand bracing by your side to avoid putting any pressure on your bandaged torso. “but if i hurt you—or if you start bleeding again—i’m… i’m wrapping you up in so much gauze you won’t be able to move,”

Joel watches from outside and perks up when your living room light switches off, and a dim orange light in your bedroom turns on. Yeah, let's go. He doesn’t have much of a view, so he creeps around back to the sliding door of your kitchen. And look at that, the door isn’t even locked.
This is big. An opportunity to see you whoring around. Catch you in the act. He’s not gonna blow it: unlike the other times he’s broken in, he doesn’t make a sound. He even takes off his shoes and leaves them outside.
You little sex kitten…you even left your bedroom door open. He takes a seat on your living room couch which faces away from your bedroom. He rests his elbow over the back of the sofa and angles himself so he can watch. He doesn’t see much, at first. Just the silhouette of some loser awkwardly lying on his side on your bed, presumably facing you.
Then there are kissing sounds. Gross. You must have thought the same. You don’t sound impressed when you stop and ask the poor guy, “Uh, ok. Can we just uh–”
And then you’re on top of him. Attagirl. That's the kitten Joel knows. You take off your shirt. Well, damn. You look sexy as hell from this angle.
“You’re so pretty,” the guy gushes softly. Joel rolls his eyes. That guy totally has a cuck voice. You lean forward, still with your skirt on, although it’s riding up. Your hips move, a little. He pulls your head down for a kiss. Dumbass. That clearly wasn’t doin’ it for ya before. Your faces connect, and while you’re not looking, Joel sneaks over to your room. He crosses his arms, holding a knife in one hand, and leaning against the doorframe.
You pull back from the bad kisser and he apologizes softly.
Joel has had enough. “Alright, just take your dick out man. That’s all she wants.”
The guy gasps. You turn around with a startle, but you don’t freak out. You're getting used to the break-ins.
“Joel,” you scold a little too calmly. “What the fuck?”
“Take it out,” Joel repeats to the guy.
“What are you doing?” You demand.
Joel answers, “Don’t whore around on me if ya don’t want me involved, babe.”
The guy hesitates, and Joel uncrosses his arms. With his knife still in one hand, Joel gesticulates in front of himself, starting with both hands near his crotch. “Take… your cock…” He lifts his hands and advances them forward. “Out of your pants.”
The guy is just staring at the knife in Joel’s hand.
“NOW,” Joel adds, then addresses you. “God damn, I can see what you're so bored about.”
The guy’s hands are shaking as he unzips his pants. Joel steps forward to take a look, and, well. Lol.
“You wanna go first or second?” Joel asks.
“W-What?” The guy stammers.
“Trainsgiving’s come early,” Joel explains. “Go on, get her while she’s tight.”
The man asks you, “Do you want me to-”
Joel interrupts with an exasperated sigh, then, starting in a mocking voice, “do you want me to–Shut up and do it,” Joel points at him.
Joel gets a good look at you. He knows that look on  your face–mortified AND aroused. And when Joel gives you a little smirk, you seem to suppress one of your own. It’s clear in your eyes.
“Okay fine, just lie there,” Joel directs the guy. “Hold it for her.” Joel turns to you. “Go on, kitty. Don’t stop whorin’ on my account.”
You look Joel up and down, and when he palms a massive bulge in his jumpsuit, that’s enough to make you do it.
You’re more cock hungry than anyone Joel’s ever met. Too bad this guy’s not much of a meal. That’s okay. Joel’s here.
You put a condom on the guy, and Joel laughs, “ouch.”
When you sink down on the man, you’re hoping it’s a test. A test you’ll fail, provoking Joel into a rage.  But no, Joel stands close by and unzips his jumpsuit, staring at where your body meets the cock.
Okay, he’s not that bad, both you and Joel think to yourselves. The guy is frozen.
“What,” you ask the guy, “you don’t want this?”
"No, I do." He looks back and forth between the two of you and asks, “Does he have to be here?”
Joel is now holding the absurd girth of his own shaft and glances down at it before looking the man in the eye. “Someone’s gotta pick up the slack,” Joel complains and adds under his breath, "Make up for what you lack."
You begin to move your hips.
“Alright, that’s enough,” Joel decides and puts an arm around you, pulling you off the guy. You pretend to fight Joel off.
The guy asks, “Do you need help?”
“She’s fine,” Joel cuts him off.
“I wasn’t done with him,” you protest convincingly.
The guy whispers,”What the fuck,” as he backs out of the room, still putting his dick in his pants.
“Why are you ruining my date,” you ask Joel.
“Shut up,” Joel pushes you forward and holds you face down on the bed. He growls in your ear. “You.. filthy.. slut,” then shoves into you brutally.
There he is, you think as you smile into the pillow and savor the incredible stretch.

Your eyes flick over him, taking in his nervous fidgeting. It’s endearing, really, the way he seems like he'd rather be anywhere but standing across from you. And maybe it’s because he's the polar opposite of the loud types, but you can’t help teasing him a little.
Endearing is just the perfect description for Bob 🥰
You can’t resist needling him just a bit more, leaning in just close enough to watch him fluster. You know the effect you have—the low neckline of your top, the tattoos trailing down your arm, the glint of your piercings just visible through the thin fabric. He’s doing his best not to stare, but his eyes flick down for a split second before he yanks his gaze back up, his face turning redder by the second.
🤭🤭🤭
He leans in even closer, his voice dropping to a low, conspiratorial tone. “Well, let’s start with two beers for Phoenix and Bob. Can’t have ‘em dehydrating, right?” There’s a slight pause, and he gives you a smirk, his gaze lingering a bit longer than necessary. “Make sure Bob’s is extra cold—he’s, uh, still cooling off after the last time you talked to him.” You laugh, shaking your head as you start on the beers. “Don’t tell me he’s still flustered from that., it's been years.” “Poor guy doesn’t stand a chance with you around, no matter the time,” Hangman says with a wink.
Oh Bobby 🥹
He pauses, rolling his eyes in that way he does whenever he brings up Rooster. “Rooster’s a beer guy, as usual. But let’s give him the lighter stuff. Don’t want him trying to prove anything tonight.”
Hahah this cracked me up 😂
“And what about you, Hangman?” you ask, tossing him a smirk. “Anything special, or do you just want a mirror to stare into?”
Perfect answer 👏🏻
You laugh, reaching for a row of glasses. “Let me see… Something tells me you could handle a little extra kick tonight.” You pour a round of tequila for Phoenix and Coyote, grabbing lime wedges and a sprinkle of salt for the rims.
The way I just know Phoenix and Coyote are gonna drink those tequila shots with the most sexual tension between them 🤭
He chuckles, not missing a beat. “Because I don’t think you’d waste your time with just any guy.” He holds your gaze, letting the words hang in the air, something challenging in his smile. “You seem a little… particular.”
I love how they have this verbal sparring going on
Phoenix snickers, sipping her tequila and watching the scene unfold like it’s her favourite soap opera. “This is priceless,” she mutters to Coyote, who nods, clearly entertained.
Oh they are having the best time, front row and all 😅
“Hey, Bob,” she says with a mischievous grin, “you’re awfully quiet over there. What do you think? Who’s got the better shot?” Bob’s eyes widen as every head at the table turns to look at him. He stammers, his grip tightening on his glass. “I—I don’t know,” he mumbles, his voice barely audible. “I, uh… I think she’d go for someone… respectful. Kind of… uh…”
He's like: oh please don't rope me into this 🫣
Bob just blushes harder, sinking a little lower in his seat as Phoenix pats his back in a show of support. “Ignore them, Bob. They’re just scared you’re the dark horse here,” she teases, sending Jake and Bradley a challenging look.
Oh I have a feeling Phoenix knows something the others don't 🤭🤔
Bob practically melts into his seat, but despite his obvious embarrassment, there’s the smallest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he glances at you.
👀👀👀
Bob’s leaning on the railing, doing his best to stay out of the spotlight as Jake and Bradley bicker, each too wrapped up in their little rivalry to notice you coming. Only Phoenix catches your approach, her eyes widening in excitement as she realizes what’s about to happen. She’s the only one who knows, after all.
Hehe I knew it 😌 maybe Jake and Bradley should just kiss each other, they already bicker like an old married couple 🤭
You can tell he’s trying to play it cool, but there’s a flicker of pure adoration in his eyes as he takes you in. Without a word, he leans in, brushing his lips softly against yours, his hand finding your waist as he pulls you in. His usual shyness fades as he melts into the kiss, his touch growing just a little bolder, like he’s letting himself savour every second.
🥰🥰🥰
Around you, the entire squad has gone silent. Rooster, Hangman, and Coyote are all staring, mouths slightly open in complete disbelief. But it’s not the kiss that has them in shock. It’s the glint of your engagement ring—hanging on a delicate chain around your neck, tucked just under the collar of your shirt. The light catches it as you pull back from Bob, and you see the realization dawn on each of their faces.
They are like:
🤯🤯🤯
Bob, still flushed from the kiss, shifts awkwardly as he catches sight of his teammates’ stunned expressions. He ducks his head, clearly overwhelmed by all the attention, but there’s a shy smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he wraps an arm around your waist, holding you close.
He is just so cute 🥰
“Guess we kept it under wraps a little too well,” you say with a smirk, running a hand affectionately through Bob’s hair, watching as he blushes even deeper but relaxes into your touch. He looks at you with such genuine, quiet adoration that it’s impossible not to smile.
Urgh they are perfect together and Bob's blushing is just so cute 🥰
Rooster, still processing, lets out a low whistle, shaking his head. “Wow. And here I was thinking shy guys didn’t stand a chance.” Phoenix is practically beside herself with joy, and she can’t help but gloat just a little. “Well, guess what, boys?” You grin, crossing your arms. “Turns out all I wanted was the quiet one.”
Haha this is just perfect!! And Phoenix is reeling of joy, I know it 😅
The quiet ones
Summary: You surprise the Dagger Squad by revealing your secret to Bob, who shyly but lovingly melts into your kiss as the others watch in shock, as shy guys are your type.
Chapter Warning: Secret relationship reveal, unexpected PDA, and flustered teammates, drinking.
Pairing: Robert "Bob" Floyd x reader

The sun is barely up, casting a soft glow over the empty beach outside The Hard Deck as you pull open the doors and step into the familiar dimness of the bar.
You've been doing this for years—unlocking before the heat of the day sets in, setting up stools, and sliding glasses onto the shelves with the smooth rhythm you've perfected. Today feels the same, but something in the air hints it won't be an ordinary shift. There's a buzz, the sort that comes with Navy missions brewing, whispered over drinks in tones low enough that only bartenders know how to hear.
You're wiping down the bar when the door creaks open. You look up and spot a guy with dark-rimmed glasses, a touch of shyness evident in the way he stands at the door, scanning the place like he’s about to get reprimanded just for being here early. He's tall but sort of unassuming, a guy who'd rather fade into the background. He's a contrast to the pilots who usually come in loud, all bravado and swagger. You recognize him instantly: Bob, the quiet one who stands at the edges of the Dagger Squad.
As he approaches, you give him a slow, easy smile and cross your arms, leaning back. "Hey there. Early start for you guys?"
He swallows hard, adjusting his glasses. “Uh…yeah. Just…getting a round for the squad.” His voice is barely audible, like he’s half-hoping you’ll mishear and let him walk away without much fuss.
Your eyes flick over him, taking in his nervous fidgeting. It’s endearing, really, the way he seems like he'd rather be anywhere but standing across from you. And maybe it’s because he's the polar opposite of the loud types, but you can’t help teasing him a little.
“So…who’s in charge of this little mission?” you ask, setting down a few glasses with a subtle clink.
He hesitates, caught off guard by the question. “Uh…Admiral Simpson.”
You chuckle. “Beau? That's my uncle."
Bob's eyes widen, his mouth hanging open for a moment before he stammers out a response. "Oh. Uh, wow. I… I didn’t know." The faintest blush creeps up his cheeks, and he looks down, almost embarrassed to be caught off guard like that.
“Don’t worry,” you say with a smirk, letting your fingers trace the rim of a glass, “your secret’s safe with me.”
“Uh…thanks. I just—um, I’ll take…uh, the round,” he manages, his voice catching as you pour the drinks.
You can see his struggle—the way he wants to say something, but every time he opens his mouth, he clams up. He's never met anyone like you before, that’s obvious. The confidence, the tattoos, the piercings peeking through the fabric—it all ties together into something that leaves him completely off balance. And he’s… well, adorable.
As you slide the last glass across the bar to him, you give him a wink. “See you around, Bob. Bring your friends by sometime.”
He mutters a quiet “thank you” and shuffles out, beers in hand and cheeks flushed. And as he heads out the door, you can't help but grin to yourself, wondering if he’ll find the nerve to say more next time.
---
It’s a typical night at The Hard Deck, the bar buzzing with energy, filled with the sounds of laughter, clinking glasses, and rock music blaring from the jukebox. The place is packed with Navy types, just as it always is when there’s no active mission holding them back. You’re behind the bar, quick on your feet, sliding drinks to customers and catching up with the regulars. Then, through the crowd, you spot him.
Hangman strides up to the bar with that cocky swagger he’s famous for. Tall, blond, and all confidence, he’s got a grin that could charm the devil himself. And he knows it. Tonight, he’s dressed in his usual off-duty look—just tight enough T-shirt and a leather jacket slung over his shoulder, looking every bit the guy who doesn’t take “no” for an answer. But that’s the game he plays, and tonight you’re ready for him.
“Evening, sweetheart,” he drawls, leaning across the bar just a little too close. “Thought you’d be closed by now.”
You raise an eyebrow, resting your hands on the bar and meeting his gaze without flinching. “Well, I thought you’d be up in the air by now,” you shoot back, your tone teasing. “Guess we’re both full of surprises.”
He chuckles, clearly delighted by the challenge. “All right, you got me there,” he says, glancing around. “But I’ve got a list for you. The squad’s thirsty tonight.”
“Let’s hear it, then,” you say, pulling out a row of glasses, ready to work but giving him your full attention.
“Make sure Bob’s is extra cold—he’s, uh, still cooling off after the last time you talked to him.”
You laugh, shaking your head as you start on the beers. “Don’t tell me he’s still flustered from that., it's been years.”
“Poor guy doesn’t stand a chance with you around, no matter the time,” Hangman says with a wink. “But hey, he’ll survive. Next up, Coyote wants a whiskey—neat. You know how he is. And Rooster…” He pauses, rolling his eyes in that way he does whenever he brings up Rooster. “Rooster’s a beer guy, as usual. But let’s give him the lighter stuff. Don’t want him trying to prove anything tonight.”
You slide the beers across to him, already pouring the whiskey as he keeps going. “And what about you, Hangman?” you ask, tossing him a smirk. “Anything special, or do you just want a mirror to stare into?”
He laughs, clearly enjoying this back-and-forth. “Ouch, darlin’. That one stings.” He places a hand over his heart, feigning offense before letting his gaze flick down to the line of tattoos trailing up your arm, then back to meet your eyes with a mischievous glint. “But as long as you’re the one serving, I’ll take whatever you recommend.”
You pour him a whiskey, sliding it over the bar with a raised brow. “Think you can handle it?”
He picks up the glass, holding it up to you with that easy, confident grin. “Oh, I can handle a lot more than that. But I like a bartender who can keep me on my toes.” He takes a sip, never breaking eye contact, letting the moment hang in the air.
The bar is still loud around you, but there’s a beat where it’s just you and him, his gaze heavy and flirtatious, yours daring him to keep going. He leans in a little closer, his voice a quiet murmur. “You know, we should get a drink somewhere else sometime. Just you and me.”
You lean back, letting a slow smile spread across your face, but truly this guy is not for you. “Oh, is that an invitation?”
“Consider it an open one,” he replies, giving you a wink before stepping back to gather up the drinks. “But hey, don’t take too long thinking it over. I don’t like waiting.”
It’s been a busy night, the bar still packed as the crowd buzzes with the kind of energy that only comes when there’s no telling when the next mission will roll around. You’re behind the bar, catching your breath after that last round, when you catch sight of Rooster winding his way through the crowd, headed straight for you.
He’s wearing his usual laid-back style—well-worn jeans, a vintage band T-shirt, and that aviator jacket slung over his shoulders. He looks like something out of a different time, especially with those sunglasses perched up in his curls, even though it’s night. Rooster always has this quiet, steady confidence, like he knows he doesn’t need to announce himself. And there’s something a little different in his step as he approaches you, maybe a touch of playfulness in the way he’s looking at you, a half-smile already curving on his lips.
“Hey, bartender,” he says, leaning onto the bar with an easy grin. “I’m back for the squad’s refills, but this time I think we’re changing things up.”
“Oh yeah?” You give him an amused look, resting your hands on the bar and leaning in just enough to close the space between you. “Guessing Hangman finally realized he can order something other than whiskey?”
He chuckles, shaking his head. “Well, Hangman’s hard to change. But the rest of us? We’re open to suggestions. Figured you might know what we need better than we do.”
You raise a brow, sensing the tease in his tone. “Oh, so now I’m in charge of drinks? Guess I must be moving up in the world.”
“Better believe it.” He flashes you a quick grin. “But you still gotta keep me entertained while you’re at it.”
You laugh, reaching for a row of glasses. “Let me see… Something tells me you could handle a little extra kick tonight.” You pour a round of tequila for Phoenix and Coyote, grabbing lime wedges and a sprinkle of salt for the rims.
“Tequila for Phoenix and Coyote,” you announce, lining them up. “And… let’s do something different for Bob. A Moscow Mule might be more his speed—something smooth but not too strong, I know he likes it.”
“Perfect,” Rooster nods, his eyes catching on the way your hands move as you pour, clearly fascinated. “And what do you recommend for me?”
“Hmm,” you say, pretending to consider as you tilt your head, catching his gaze. “Something with a bit of bite, I think. Something… classic.”
You reach for the whiskey, but instead of neat, you add a twist of orange, pouring a well-balanced Old Fashioned. You slide it over to him, catching his eye with a smirk. “Think you’re ready for that?”
He picks up the glass, turning it slowly in his hand, that same lazy smile lingering on his face. “Only if you’re ready to join me for one sometime,” he says, his voice low enough to make sure you catch the hint. He takes a sip, and his gaze stays fixed on you, watching your reaction, clearly testing the waters.
You raise an eyebrow, not about to let him off easy. “And what makes you think I’d go for a guy who takes drink recommendations from the bartender?”
He chuckles, not missing a beat. “Because I don’t think you’d waste your time with just any guy.” He holds your gaze, letting the words hang in the air, something challenging in his smile. “You seem a little… particular.”
“And you think you’re up to the standards?” You tilt your head, leaning on the bar just close enough that he has to take in every word.
His eyes flick down to your arm, where your tattoos catch the light, and then back up to meet yours, a flicker of mischief in his gaze. “I think I’d be willing to try,” he says, his voice smooth, steady. “But I’ll leave it up to you if I get the chance.”
You shake your head, suppressing a grin, and reach for another glass, pouring yourself a splash of soda as you lean back. “How about you focus on delivering those drinks first, hotshot?”
Rooster raises his glass in a mock salute, his eyes never leaving yours. “Alright, boss,” he says, clearly amused. “But don’t think I’m letting this go that easily.”
He picks up the tray, balancing it with practiced ease as he throws one last look over his shoulder before heading back to the squad. You’re left behind the bar, catching your breath with a smile as you watch him go, knowing full well he’ll be back for another round—and maybe another shot at breaking through.
-
The Dagger Squad is clustered around a corner table, the drinks you just served scattered across the tabletop. Conversation and laughter flow easily, but the energy shifts the second Hangman and Rooster start eyeing each other, sizing each other up with cocky grins and sidelong glances. Bob, meanwhile, is trying his best to blend into the background, clutching his Moscow Mule and looking more than a little flustered as he watches his teammates' latest standoff unfold.
“You know, Rooster,” Jake drawls, leaning back in his chair and raising his whiskey with an infuriatingly smug smile, “you’re wasting your time here. She’s clearly more into a guy with… confidence.” He emphasizes the last word, smirking as he takes a slow sip, his eyes flicking over to the bar where you’re serving another customer.
Rooster snorts, crossing his arms as he leans forward. “Confidence? Is that what you call whatever it is you do?” He shakes his head, trying to keep his voice casual, but the competitive gleam in his eyes betrays him. “Trust me, Bagman, she’s not going for the guy who struts around like a damn peacock.”
Phoenix snickers, sipping her tequila and watching the scene unfold like it’s her favourite soap opera. “This is priceless,” she mutters to Coyote, who nods, clearly entertained.
“Oh, please,” Jake fires back, unfazed. “You think that ‘slow burn’ routine of yours is going to win her over? Women don’t want to wait around forever. They like a guy who knows what he wants.” He casts another confident glance toward the bar, and Rooster follows his gaze, jaw tightening just slightly.
Bob, meanwhile, is turning a shade of red that nearly matches his squadmate’s call sign. He keeps his eyes firmly on his drink, but Phoenix catches the flush creeping up his neck and nudges him with her elbow.
“Hey, Bob,” she says with a mischievous grin, “you’re awfully quiet over there. What do you think? Who’s got the better shot?”
Bob’s eyes widen as every head at the table turns to look at him. He stammers, his grip tightening on his glass. “I—I don’t know,” he mumbles, his voice barely audible. “I, uh… I think she’d go for someone… respectful. Kind of… uh…”
Rooster grins, reaching over to pat Bob’s shoulder, his tone almost affectionate. “See, Bob gets it. A guy who’s not all in her face about it.”
Jake rolls his eyes, scoffing as he leans back. “Right. Because nothing says ‘charming’ like shyly staring into your drink.”
Bob just blushes harder, sinking a little lower in his seat as Phoenix pats his back in a show of support. “Ignore them, Bob. They’re just scared you’re the dark horse here,” she teases, sending Jake and Bradley a challenging look.
“Oh, is that it?” Hangman laughs, tipping his glass toward Bob in mock salute. “Tell you what, Bob—if she turns me down, I’ll let you take a shot.”
Rooster shakes his head, chuckling. “Sure, Bob. If Jake somehow fails—and trust me, he will—you’ve got my blessing.”
Bob’s face is now a deep shade of crimson, and he lets out a nervous laugh, clearly mortified. But he can’t resist glancing over toward the bar, where you’re moving easily between customers, completely unaware of the mini-drama playing out across the room.
“You know what?” Rooster says, straightening up and giving Jake a look that’s half-challenge, half-smirk. “Why don’t we let her decide who’s worth her time?”
Jake’s eyes narrow, a slow smile spreading across his face. “Fine by me, Rooster. May the best man win.”
Bob practically melts into his seat, but despite his obvious embarrassment, there’s the smallest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he glances at you.

You’ve been keeping an eye on the Dagger Squad from behind the bar, and you’ve caught enough of the banter to know they’re up to something. You can feel the weight of their stares now, so you decide to put them out of their misery. With a knowing smile, you grab a couple of fresh napkins and make your way over to the table, letting your gaze linger on one person in particular.
“Hey, Bobby,” you say with a playful lilt, giving him a warm smile. His head snaps up, his cheeks turning an immediate shade of pink.
“Oh, my god,” Phoenix gasps, covering her mouth, trying to stifle her laughter as she watches Jake and Bradley try to process what they’re seeing. “No way. All this time, and she’s been with… Bobby?” Her eyes sparkle with pure delight as she glances back at you, unable to contain her excitement.
“Wait…you’re with Bob?” Hangman says, still sounding completely baffled. He shakes his head, his usual confidence gone. “And you’re engaged?”
“Guess we kept it under wraps a little too well,” you say with a smirk, running a hand affectionately through Bob’s hair, watching as he blushes even deeper but relaxes into your touch. He looks at you with such genuine, quiet adoration that it’s impossible not to smile.
Rooster, still processing, lets out a low whistle, shaking his head. “Wow. And here I was thinking shy guys didn’t stand a chance.”
Phoenix is practically beside herself with joy, and she can’t help but gloat just a little. “Well, guess what, boys?” You grin, crossing your arms. “Turns out all I wanted was the quiet one.”

Retreat - Stanford Pines
I think we all need some fluff after everything that’s happened this week.

You didn’t know where he was taking you, but that was alright. Sitting in the passenger seat of his jeep, you laced your fingers in his, enjoying how secure and warm the touch of his hand felt. It had been exhausting. You had been so emotionally drained and you knew he had been too. You both needed quiet. You both needed a break from the chaos of the world.
You stared out the window, humming along to the song on the radio as he drove. The relative silence was comfortable. The hum of the tires lulled you into a sense of calm. He lulled you into a sense of relief, thumb tracing soothing circles on the back of your hand.
You watched as the world passed you by, the only thing on your mind being how Ford’s hand felt in yours. It was paradise.
The drive stretched on and the setting sun cast a warm glow over the trees, painting everything in rich golds and soft pinks. You stole a glance at Ford, admiring how the light softened his usually intense features. There was a look of quiet determination on his face softened by a subtle, almost shy, smile. It was rare to see him this relaxed. It made you realize just how much he’d needed this too.
After a while, he cleared his throat, his voice breaking the silence. “We’re almost there. Just a few more minutes,” he said, squeezing your hand gently.
You smiled, feeling a flutter of excitement in your chest. “I still can’t believe you planned all this without giving anything away,” you teased, leaning closer to him.
Ford chuckled, his thumb still tracing circles on your hand. “I wanted it to be a surprise. We both needed something different, a place where we can forget everything for a while.”
A few minutes later, he pulled off onto a small gravel road that wound through a forested area. A cabin came into view, a cozy little structure nestled between tall pines with smoke already curling from the chimney as if it had been waiting just for you.
As Ford parked and turned off the engine, you couldn’t help but let out a small sigh of contentment. The air was cool and crisp as you stepped out, filled with the scent of earth and wood smoke. It was perfectly still, the only sounds you could hear were the rustle of leaves in the wings and the occasional bird call.
Ford walked around the car to meet you, reaching out to grab your hand again. “It’s just us out here. No Stanley, no anomalies, no surprises. Well, except, perhaps, for the fact that I’m not terrible at cooking,” he said with a wry smile.
You laughed, giving his hand a playful squeeze. “I guess I’ll believe that when I see it, Ford. Lead the way.”
The cabin’s interior was warm and welcoming, with simple wooden furniture and a stone fireplace crackling softly. Ford had clearly prepared ahead. There were cozy blankets on the couch, a basket with snacks, and a small stack of books on the coffee table.
“Did you do all this?” You asked, looking around impressed.
Ford shrugged, a slight blush creeping up his neck. “I wanted it to be special for you.” He set down your bags and motioned to the fireplace. “Make yourself comfortable. I’ll get some tea going.”
You settled onto the couch, sinking into the softness of the cushions and wrapping a blanket around your shoulders. Watching Ford as he moved around the small kitchen, you were struck again by how much he meant to you. Seeing him outside his usual element, not in his lab coat or surrounded by mysterious things, but here in this intimate, domestic setting felt surreal. It was a side of him you rarely saw and it made your heart ache with affection.
Ford returned a few minutes later, carefully carrying two steaming mugs of tea. “Here,” he said, handing you a mug and sitting down beside you. He stretched his arm along the back of the couch, close enough for you to lean into him if you wanted. You did. “I hope this is the kind of break you had in mind.”
You took a sip, savoring the warmth before meeting his gaze. “It’s perfect. More than I could’ve imagined.”
He looked at you for a long moment, his usual intensity softened with something almost vulnerable. “You know,” he began, his voice quieter than before, “I don’t often allow myself these luxuries. I suppose I’ve always been wary of letting my guard down, even in peaceful moments like this.”
“I know,” you replied, shifting closer to him until you could feel his warmth against you, “but you’re allowed to let go, Ford. Especially here, with me.”
The lines in his face faded, his free hand reaching up to cup your cheek. “Sometimes I still wonder what I did to deserve you,” he murmured, brushing his thumb over your cheekbone.
You laughed softly, placing your hand over his. “You deserve so much more than you give yourself credit for, Stanford.”
He held your gaze for a moment then leaned in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to your forehead. It was gentle, full of unspoken emotions, and it made you feel more cherished than any grand gesture ever could.
You both fell into an easy conversation, talking about everything and nothing, sharing laughter and warmth as the evening grew darker. At one point, he pulled out a book he’d brought along and started reading aloud, his voice calm and steady, each word wrapping around you like a lullaby.
As the night deepened, he closed the book, glancing down at you with a tender smile. “Thank you,” he whispered, almost to himself.
“For what?” You asked softly, brushing a strand of his hair back.
“For giving me something to come back to, for being the calm in the middle of the storm.” His voice was thick with emotion and his fingers curled around yours, holding you as if afraid to let go.
You leaned in, pressing your forehead to his. “You don’t have to thank me, my love. I’m here because I want to be. I will always be here, through everything.”
In response, he pulled you into a warm embrace, holding you close as the fire crackled and the room filled with a gentle silence. In that moment, there was nothing else, just the two of you wrapped up in each other, finally at peace.
The warmth of the fire and Ford’s steady presence beside you created a sense of calm that was unlike anything you’d ever felt. Leaning against him, you could hear the soft rhythm of his heartbeat and his arm around you felt strong, steady, and grounding. You rested your head on his shoulder, sighing in contentment, and closed your eyes.
Ford’s fingers traced delicate patterns on your arm as he held you close. After a moment, you felt him shift and, when you looked up, his eyes were on you, filled with a deep, quiet affection. The intensity in his gaze made your heart flutter and a blush rose to your cheeks as he slowly raised a hand to brush a strand of hair away from your face, his thumb grazing your cheek.
“Do you have any idea how much you mean to me?” He whispered, his voice barely audible over the crackling fire. His hand lingered on your face, his eyes searching yours as if to memorize every detail. “You’ve the one person who sees past all my flaws, my mistakes, and my-” he paused, as if unsure how to go on, then finally breathed, “my fears.”
You could feel his breath warm against your skin and the vulnerability in his voice broke your heart. Softly, you placed your hand over his, holding it against you. “Stanford,” you murmured, “I love all of those things about you, flaws and all. You don’t have to hide any part of yourself from me. I love you exactly as you are.”
A look of relief, mingled with overwhelming gratitude, flickered across his face. He leaned closer, his nose brushing yours and, for a moment, the two of you were lost in each other’s gaze. Slowly, his lips found yours in a tender kiss, one that made your breath catch. His hand slid to the back of your neck, holding you securely. It was as if he was afraid that if he let go, the moment would disappear.
The kiss deepened, filled with an intensity you’d rarely seen in him. You could feel him pouring every unspoken word, every hidden emotion, into that kiss. His other hand found its way around your waist, pulling you closer until there was no space left between you, bodies flush. You could feel the steady thump of his heartbeat, quickened by the passion of the moment, and your own heart raced in response.
When you finally parted, breathless, he rested his forehead against yours, his fingers still entwined in your hair. “I’ve been afraid to let myself feel this way,” he confessed, his voice a hushed murmur, “but I can’t imagine my life without you anymore.”
You cupped his face in your hands, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips. “You don’t have to. I’m not going anywhere,”
Ford’s lips curved into a smile and he brushed a kiss to your forehead, then your temple, and, finally, the tip of your nose, as if savoring every inch of you. “Thank you,” he whispered again, his voice barely audible as he pulled you close, nestling you against his chest, “for giving me something I never thought I could have.”
The two of you settled back against the couch, wrapped in each other’s arms as the firelight flickered and cast shadows around the room. He pulled a blanket over the both of you, tucking it around your shoulders as he held you close, his arm securely around your waist.
You nestled your head against him, listening to his heart, and felt his chin rest gently on the top of your head. His fingers traced gentle patterns on your shoulder, his touch soft and loving, and you closed your eyes, letting the feeling of having him like this fill you.
As you lay there, Ford’s voice broke the silence. “You know,” he began softly, “I never thought I’d find a love like this. I always thought I was too complicated, too damaged, to really let anyone in. But, you, you changed everything.”
“I never thought I’d find someone who understood me so completely,” you replied.
He leaned down to capture your lips in another kiss. Slow, lingering, and filled with unwavering love. His hands settled around your hips, drawing you closer as he deepened the kiss, his touch tender yet passionate. You felt his fingers slide up your back, his touch sending a shiver down your spine as he pulled you against him.
When you broke apart, both of you were flushed. Ford held you close, his lips brushing against you, every inch he could reach. “I love you,” he whispered.
“I love you, too,” you murmured, your heart swelling with happiness as you nestled against him, feeling the steady rise and fall of his breathing beneath you.
As the fire burned low, you drifted in and out of sleep, wrapped securely in his arms. Ford’s fingers continued to run up and down your back. His breath warm against your forehead, soothing and comforting. In that quiet, perfect moment, with the scent of smoke lingering in the air and his arms wrapped around you, you knew that this was exactly where you were meant to be, safe, loved, and cherished by the man who had become your whole world.
Eventually, Ford’s voice, soft and drowsy, broke the peaceful silence. “Let’s stay like this,” he whispered, pressing his lips to the top of your head. “Just a little while longer.”
“Forever wouldn’t be long enough,” you replied, feeling him pull you tighter.
The two of you drifted off to sleep, tangled together beneath the blanket. The worries of the world melted away, leaving only the peaceful certainty of your love, steadfast and enduring, even in the heart of the quiet, secluded cabin that felt like your own little paradise.

Imagine C catching Mc and D making out on the couch of their dorm's common room 👀 I'm positively certain they'd ban D from ever inviting Mc ever again
the evening started simply enough. you and D were lounging on the couch in the common room, tucked away in a quiet corner. it was late, and C had gone out to the library, leaving the space to the two of you.
D was sprawled across the couch, somehow managing to look comfortable and slightly smug, like they were already reading the thoughts drifting around in your head. you’d been talking about nothing, really—college, summer break plans, dumb stuff—but with D, even the simplest things could become something flirtratious. they had this way of smiling with a slight quirk at the corner of their mouth, or of letting their fingers trace idle patterns on your arm that made your heart do a little flip.
it didn’t take long before D closed the distance between you, inch by inch, their fingers finding your hand, then your shoulder, moving slowly as if testing the waters. their gray gaze was both daring and playful, a glint in their eye that practically dared you to look away. but you didn’t. you couldn’t. instead, you felt your cheeks flush as they leaned in, catching your lips in a soft, warm kiss that seemed to ignite everything inside you.
the kiss deepened, growing from soft to heated, and soon D was leaning more into you, their hands roaming your back, your waist, drawing you closer, and you barely registered how your jacket had slipped off, how D’s t-shirt was now on the floor, until you were both half-leaning, half-sprawled against each other. the only sounds were your shared breaths and the soft rustling of fabric as the world faded, leaving just the warmth of their touch and the spark that crackled between you.
suddenly, the door to the common room swung open with an abrupt, almost dramatic force, and there was C, standing in the doorway. they blinked, eyes widening as they took in the scene. C went rigid, looking as though they’d stumbled upon you two smoking weed. their mouth opened, then closed, and for a split second, they looked like they might just turn on their heel and walk out.
“oh my fucking god,” C stammered, their cheeks flushing an almost comedic shade of red. “what the hell are you two doing?”
you and D snapped apart, sitting up in a rush, and it took all your willpower not to laugh, though your face was burning with embarrassment.
“C!” you managed to squeak, desperately adjusting your shirt. “it’s, um, not what it looks like?”
“really?” C replied, raising an eyebrow as they folded their arms, a familiar, indignant edge in their tone. “because it sure looks like this was headed somewhere.”
D, ever the unbothered one, gave a casual shrug, smirking just a bit as they ran a hand through their messy hair. “don’t get all dramatic, C. we were just hanging out.”
“hanging out?” C shot back, looking equal parts horrified and disbelieving. “is that what we’re calling the fact that you two were practically dry humping each other while being half-naked?”
D chuckled, clearly enjoying C’s dismay, leaning back into the couch with a look that said they weren’t about to apologize. “well, it wasn’t supposed to be a big deal. you’re the one who barged in.”
“this is my suite too, you know,” C muttered, rubbing their temples as if they were trying to will themselves to calm down. “plus, this is the common room, not your personal love nest.”
“it’s late,” D pointed out, undeterred. “who was going to walk in here at this hour?”
“me,” C replied, still glaring. “i was going to walk in. unless their—” they pointed at you, “—tongue down your throat made you get amnesia or something.”
you tried to hold back a laugh, mumbling, “C, it’s not like we planned for this to happen when you walked in…”
C threw their hands up, clearly done. “obviously! but do you have any idea how hard it’s going to be to erase this…this image from my mind?”
D leaned forward, resting their chin on their hand with a nonchalant grin. “think of it as expanding your puritan horizons.”
C gave them a look that could kill. “you have two seconds to get off that goddamn couch before i officially ban you from bringing anyone into this room ever again.”
“alright, alright, we’re up.” D held up their hands in mock surrender, but there was a glimmer of amusement in their eyes as they glanced at you. “guess we’ve officially been cockblocked.”
“i didn’t expect anything else, honestly,” you replied, throwing D a wry smile.
C shook their head, clearly still flustered. “i swear, you two, if you’re going to do this sort of thing, just do it in D’s room.”
D’s grin widened as they draped an arm over your shoulder, still shirtless, only making C roll their eyes at their unabashed nature. “oh, don’t worry. we’ll make sure of not being in your line of sight the next time.”
C looked like they were about to explode, taking a deep, steadying breath as they pointed toward the door. “out. both of you. now. get some cold air or get each other off somewhere else before i lose what little patience i have left.”
with an exaggerated sigh, D quickly got dressed and stood up, giving you a wink as they reached for your hand. “guess our night’s over.”
as the two of you made your way to the door, C muttered something under their breath that you couldn’t quite catch, but you were pretty sure you heard the words “unbelievable” and “absolutely shameless.” just as you reached the door, C called out, one last note of warning in their voice.
“and don’t even think about bringing that…” C gestured vaguely, as if searching for a word, “energy back here again when you come back, D. or so help me…”
D threw a grin over their shoulder, giving C a cheerful thumbs-up. “got it, boss. we’ll keep our ‘energy’ under control next time.”
“good night,” C snapped, practically pushing you both out the door, the exasperation plain in every line of their face.
as soon as the door shut behind you, you burst into laughter, the sound echoing down the empty hallway. D joined in, their laughter warm and genuine, a little spark of mischief dancing in their eyes. they gave your hand a squeeze, leaning in close with a smirk that told you they were ready to continue where you left off.
“next time,” they murmured, voice low and soft, “we’ll make sure to choose a place C’s snobby ass can’t interrupt us.”
you couldn’t help but smile, feeling the last of your embarrassment fade as you walked together down the hall, the warmth of D’s hand in yours, the quiet thrill of the evening lingering long after the laughter had faded.

I still have so many thoughts about this scene.
It’s very interesting how regardless of what you think of Sauron’s motivations here, his emotions are completely genuine here. Galadriel is someone who has believed in him, who has pushed him and revitalized him, and that feeling, that high he could chase forever. We see how lonely Sauron as a character is in S2, how he has felt betrayed at the hand of Adar, and how normal people (like Diarmid) don’t do anything for him. It takes someone like Galadriel with her level of power and wisdom, and that hint of darkness, to finally feel like he is not alone. That he has somehow been made better.
At the same time, you have to wonder why this is the moment that he chose to open up to Galadriel like this. In the scene right before, he seemed almost calculating as he called her name and stopped her from killing Adar. I, for one, am averse to having too much of a charitable opinion of this guy. To me, part of the beauty of this character in TROP is that he says and does many things that come from an emotionally honest place, but they end up serving his goals in little ways.
As I see it, both things are true: he could genuinely feel a connection to her and felt like communicating it (you can almost feel the words spilling out of him), and he also saw how this moment was absolutely ripe for Galadriel to know they were firm friends and therefore get bound to him. Their fight was seemingly over and he knew she was going to have to leave soon. He had to give her a reason to still have him around, and here he tries to do that. Galadriel is someone who has spent centuries looking for him so that she could destroy him, and this is when he sees that opening where he could get through to her and somehow make her feel that they did not have to be enemies. Sauron’s good at choosing the moments for planting seeds which will bear fruit later, and we will indeed see him referring to this interaction multiple times in the future.
Sidenote: Charlie Vickers has very soulful, expressive eyes.
Moving on to what I personally find even more interesting: Galadriel’s feelings. Morfydd once mentioned in an interview that when Galadriel meets Halbrand, she is desperate to feel anything other than grief. She has been drowning in it for centuries, and when Sauron pulls her out of the ocean in the middle of the tempest, their resurfacing is symbolic of a rebirth. As brash and headstrong and disrespectful as she finds Halbrand, she enjoys his audacity and his wit. She admires that he feels alive and seems to grasp at opportunities. He wakes her up, as much as she does it for him.
But between the two of them, Galadriel is the one still dealing with overwhelming loss. She is mourning so many of her kinsmen, particularly Finrod, who was clearly her guiding light, and also Celeborn. Different shipper camps will have their interpretations of Galadriel and Celeborn’s relationship, but I don’t think it’s up for debate that she had been quietly grieving him. It wasn’t enough to divert her from hunting down Sauron, but the grief itself is clear in 1x07 when she mentions him. Galadriel’s story has been a tapestry of different kinds of loss - the ones that are unexpected and come as a heavy blow like Finrod’s, and the ones where the realization slowly seeps in like poison and eats away at you.
It’s downright painful for her to admit here that she felt something poignant with regard to Halbrand, perhaps simply because she is so afraid of loss again. It must have been ages since she last let someone new in, and this person has rescued her and stood by her (aside from all the playing hard to get) when she was utterly alone. This is the moment where it truly hits her how much he has begun to mean to her, and having gone through what she has, you have to assume she is downright terrified of it, particularly because as per her knowledge, this is a mortal man, with no enhanced lifespan even, his time on middle-earth a mere blink against the ages she has endured and will continue to.
Their relationship has been coded as romantic from the very beginning (I would say right from the moment Sauron first tries to separate from the rest of the castaways in 1x02 and clearly plans to join her). But I don’t believe Galadriel in this scene would ever admit to herself if she felt anything romantic. It would be too much for her, and I don’t believe she is even in the headspace to think about these things . I have to say Morfydd and Charlie are right about one thing: romance alone doesn’t cover whatever they were trying to sell here. For both characters, this is a moment of a tremendous wall breaking down emotionally, and both of them realizing they have met their kindreds. This is the moment that understandably keeps haunting both of them, and I suppose will continue to for multiple reasons.
Sidenote 2: Galadriel’s little shaky breaths and subtly pained expressions are so masterfully done here by Morfydd. You almost feel like you are watching someone’s wounds being slowly, excruciatingly cut open again.

Sweet Hate
Summary: Eddie has an unconventional way to reassure Steve he won't be silent if he gets dissatisfied in their relationship
Authors Note: Based off the McFly song 'Hate Your Guts' It seemed like a good song for a relationship that came from an enemies to lovers trope like Steddie often gets seen as.
/\
It started as a reassurance and a joke.
Steve had only been dating Eddie for a month when he explained what happened with Nancy and his fears of it happening again, of not knowing when someone he dated wasn’t as into the relationship as him.
Eddie had nodded at it all, gotten annoyed, then told Steve in many ways that he’d never do that to him, ending with, “I promise if I ever hate your guts, I’ll tell you immediately. Will you do the same?”
Steve agreed, missing the scheming glint in Eddie’s eyes.
~
They’d been having a quiet afternoon. Eddie was painting some minifigs while Steve pottered with various things around the trailer when he broke the quiet by sneezing loudly. Eddie startled enough his paintbrush almost covered the figure he’d been close to finishing.
“Bless you. I hate you. You couldn’t have held that until I wasn’t holding a brush?” He complained, stretching and leaning close to see if he could save it.
“Nope, could you wipe it off?” Steve asked, wandering over to look at it as well, only quietly adding “Just annoyed? Not actually hate?” quietly into Eddie’s shoulder once there.
Eddie grinned over his shoulder, “Just annoyed.” He reassured, “And maybe. Oh, it could be a backstory thing too.” With that he was grabbing a tissue and entirely focused on the minifig again.
~
Since the first time Eddie had done it the paid had fallen into the habit of declaring their hatred at the smallest things. For Steve if was generally in private, because he’d just go with the flow for a lot of social things, but wanted spaces to be tidy or organised which Eddie struggled with. Eddie however would declare hatred at least a couple times during each hang out and even if they spoke if it was something they’d need to work out, and knew if it was a dumb complaint, they started to get concerned looks from the kids again.
It all led up to Dust in Eddie’s doorstep one morning, upset and confused and resolute on getting answers over why the two people he’d tried so hard to make get along didn’t again.
“Why do you hate Steve?” Dustin demanded as soon as he was let into the Munson trailer.
Eddie shrugged, glancing behind him to the door hiding Steve in his room, still asleep. “I don’t hate him. I love the guy. He’s brilliant.”
“You literally always say you hate him.” The counter was annoyed and paired with a glare even as the kid fell back on the sofa as if he was the one that lived there.
He shook his head, not really sure how to explain why he did that to other people. “It’s not meant and he knows that. It’s just a thing we do.”
“I thought you were dating but you keep saying you hate him all the time.” Dustin grumbled, clearly not believing or not listening to him.
The door to his room opens and out comes Steve, yawning and smiling sleepily. “It’s sweet and I say it back. Like this, Eddie, I hate your guts. I got none of the blankets until you got up today.”
“Not sure how to solve that one Sweetheart, maybe we need separate blankets for sleeping.” Eddie mused, ignoring Dustin gaping between them.
After a moment to be stunned Dustin exclaimed, “How is it sweet to declare hatred all the time?”
“Just is.” was all the explanation given as Steve decided to help himself to breakfast.
~
After that scene the kids still frowned at them some, but seemed less concerned over it. Will once or twice tried suggesting over ways to communicate but didn’t worry if they were ignored.
Robin however had also noticed them and the only thing preventing her from speaking up sooner had been that Steve still seemed happy, almost happier than he had when he first started dating Eddie, she thought.
It still wasn’t something she could entirely ignore though, so one shift when Eddie hadn’t snuck in, she had to ask, “Steve? Are you happy?”
“Yes, why?” He replied automatically, focused on rewinding the returns that had been dropped in during the pre-work rush.
“You’re dating Eddie, but-” She broke off, unsure how to continue and hoping he’d figure out what she was talking about.
Steve turned to her, leaning against the wall now. “But?”
She huffed, just saying as quickly as she could, “He keeps saying he hates you, like everyday.”
“Nah, he loves me. It’s a sweet thing.” Steve corrected though he didn’t argue over how much it happened.
“Sweet?” She asked, confounded, “Normally I can follow your brain, but how is saying he hates you sweet?”
Steve shrugged, swapping the tapes over as the one he’d put in finished rewinding. “I worried he’d hide it from me if he wasn’t into me any more, so he started this. Every small peeve gets said so we can sort it. I just do it less around everyone.”
“But ‘I hate you’?” She asked, feeling entirely stuck on how that could be sweet in any world.
“I check if he means it if it’s too seriously said.” Steve smiles softly, looking at her imploring her to understand.
Robin smiled back, nodding and relaxing, “Okay Dingus. Just know I’m here if it stops being sweet.”
“I know.”

melodrama
read on ao3 | wild life, grumbo, 1.1k words
“I don’t like that one bit!” Mumbo tells him. “I’m all the friend that you need.”
And that’s when Grian gets an idea. A horrible, wonderful idea.
So maybe he had goals in mind. Maybe he had plans. Maybe he wanted this season to be something completely different from what it’s becoming. None of that matters anymore, because Grian’s self-control is shot to hell the second he hears those words. He should know better by now than to have faith in himself.
Here’s what matters now: Mumbo is Grian’s and Grian’s is his, to an extent that makes it hard to care about anything else. And Grian desperately wants to see how far Mumbo will go to keep it that way.
The wildcard ending early is the best excuse he could have hoped for. He goes back home with Mumbo and Skizz for the night, then sneaks out as loudly and obviously as he dares. Skizz could sleep through a hurricane, but Grian knows Mumbo will hear him. He doesn’t have to look back to know that Mumbo is watching as he slips out the front door.
Mumbo follows him up the cherry stairs. He’s making an effort to be quiet, but Grian can still hear soft footsteps behind him.
On top of the mountain, a red Scar awaits him. He’s sound asleep, but he’s still so very Scar, snoring softly, eyelids fluttering, one arm curled protectively around Jimmy beside him. There’s a part of Grian that wants to be in Jimmy’s place, or even Scar’s, but it’s not enough to lose sight of his objective. It’s not enough to forget the furious tension from the man standing behind him.
“I knew it,” Mumbo hisses, his voice barely above a whisper. “You are trying to leave us.”
He seems to be trying not to disturb the sleeping trio in front of Grian. But as always, Mumbo is careful but not careful enough. Lizzie twitches immediately, and Scar shifts in his sleep only moments after.
Grian turns around, not even bothering to feign surprise. “Shh,” he whispers back. “You’ll wake them up.”
“Fine,” Mumbo says, and stomps closer to grab Grian by the hem of his shirt. All the blood rushes to Grian’s head as Mumbo drags him away, past the giant parrots and halfway down the mountain. “There. Now explain yourself.”
He keeps a tight grip on Grian’s sweater, as if that’s enough to keep Grian somewhere he doesn’t want to be. It’s a good thing for Mumbo that Grian’s exactly where he wants to be right now.
“I just wanted to talk to Scar about something,” Grian says innocently. He doesn’t try to shake Mumbo off or push him away, just lets him do what he wants. “I don’t see why you’re making such a fuss about it.”
“You had plenty of time to talk to Scar all day,” Mumbo huffs. “The only reason to wait until the middle of the night is if you’re trying to ditch us.”
“So you really meant it, then.”
“Meant what?”
“You told me you didn’t want me to have other friends, remember?”
“And clearly I was right,” Mumbo says, “because apparently, your definition of ‘having friends’ means sneaking off in the middle of the night behind my back. Who knows what you would have done if I hadn’t caught you.”
“Who knows,” Grian echoes. “Certainly not me.” He’s not even lying; he didn’t plan on saying anything to Scar. He correctly assumed that Mumbo would stop him before that point.
Mumbo’s eyes narrow. “Don’t lie. You’re up to something, I know it.”
“Up to something? That doesn’t sound like me at all.”
“Just tell me the truth,” Mumbo says. “We’re supposed to be a team, Grian!”
Grian shrugs, unimpressed. “You want to know the real reason I went to visit Scar?”
“Yes, obviously.”
“It was just to get your attention. I wanted to see you freak out on me.”
Mumbo’s expression goes from anger to complete bafflement. “Why would you want to do that?”
“Really? You don’t get it?” Grian sighs at Mumbo’s blank stare. “Let go of me already and I’ll tell you.”
To his surprise, Mumbo listens. Now free to do as he pleases, Grian explains himself in the easiest way he can think of—he takes a few steps back and lunges, latching onto Mumbo with all four limbs.
It’s a close thing; Mumbo very nearly topples over. Grian folds his legs around Mumbo’s waist and rests his head on Mumbo’s shoulder, speaking softly in his ear. “It’s because I like when you’re being awful, you spoon.”
“You do?”
“Of course! I do it all the time, don’t I? I wouldn’t dish it out if I couldn’t take it.”
“Yes you would,” Mumbo says. “Repeatedly. Habitually, even.”
Grian sticks out his tongue at him, even though he knows Mumbo won’t be able to see it. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You really like it, though?” Mumbo asks him. “I thought for sure you were getting sick of me.”
“Then why keep doing it?”
This question stumps him for a bit. Finally, Mumbo splutters out, “I suppose once I got started, I didn’t know how to stop.”
Grian can’t do anything but laugh at this answer. “See? Now you know how it feels!”
“It felt so natural,” Mumbo says. He’s starting to sound ashamed, and Grian can’t have that. “I didn’t even question it. Something must be wrong with me.”
“There’s nothing wrong with you,” Grian insists, leaning back to look Mumbo in the eyes. He has to wrap both hands around the back of Mumbo’s neck to do it, so he tries not to squeeze very hard. “In fact, I think you should get worse.”
“Well, I think you’re a terrible influence on me.”
“I think you like it.”
“I do,” Mumbo says, clearly distressed by this fact. “It’s horrible. This is not how we win a death game, Grian!”
Part of Grian wants to tell him that he’ll try his best to help Mumbo win, but he isn’t in the business of giving out false hope. Another part of him wants to try and convince Mumbo that winning isn’t worth the effort, but that approach could easily backfire. He’s left with only one option in the end, the same option as always.
Deny, deflect, distract. Keep the game-within-a-game going. Never leave time to stop and rethink.
“We could burn down the parrots tomorrow,” Grian suggests. “Kill some dark greens. Kick Skizz out of the group. Whatever you want.”
“I like the sound of all those things,” Mumbo says. “But I really only want one thing.”
Grian laughs. “Don’t worry,” he tells Mumbo. “It’s already yours.”

Now I need us “pretending” to forget about Emil, only to actully forget about it him.
Like, as a punishment we lock him in the basement and forget about him as a joke, send a maid down there once a day to feed him, but then we genuinely forget about with him, because we didn’t realize how much work Emil does.
He gets feed once a day from a maid, but that’s the only interaction he has. (Need some more angst before it gets fluffy🙏🙏)
part 3 of this & 2
i don't know why i love this series so much i want to break emil so bad. i have so much fun writing pathetic emil whump.
cw;; domestic abuse, drugging, unsanitary, manipulation, dehumanization
Tumblr media
things had been relatively peaceful since starting the divorce process. a process you had paid the information guild to purposely obstruct and delay while also leaking all the information about. at this point you met the guild master more than your own husband, in spite of emil's attempts. every day you would wake up to find some kind of expensive gift and your maids would inform you that emil was there to see you, to which you would dismiss both. but emil kept trying.
he wasn't even being drugged anymore but the effects had clearly taken their toll on his mind. according to the servants of the main house he wasn't doing his work, he would spend all his time wandering or sitting like he was the living dead, and they even heard him crying. your name and even mention of the queen title had been all but banned by his advisors in an attempt to get him to pull himself together. he wasn't.
the first time you saw him in 6 months was shortly after a meeting with the guild master discussing your next steps to take over the kingdom. you had decided with everything squared away you would go out for a walk by the fountain.
the moon was the only light on the usually vibrant garden, casting it in a somber darkness. the air was cold and heavy with the chilling change of seasons on the horizon so you were wrapped in a shawl. it was the perfect night to find him. your husband was standing on the bridge overlooking the fountain, he was staring down into the water longingly. you could see from his reflection in the water his eyes were sunken and there were bags under them, his hair was messy and uncombed, and he was paler than normal. he looked sickly and the cold blank look in his eyes didn't help.
he didn't even seem to notice as you approached when usually he would be on high alert or draw his sword. or he did notice.
"if you're going to kill me please make it quick." he must have thought you were some kind of assassin but more notably his voice was so soft and weak unlike anything you'd ever heard from him.
"i have no intention of killing you." your voice made his head shoot up with all the speed his weakened state could allow.
fresh tears pricked at the corners of his eyes. "(y/n)..? are you... real..?"
he stumbled towards you his feet struggling to carry him. you reached out and caught his surprisingly light body.
"you're re-"
"what's wrong with you? do you think dying will make things better?"
he flinched and his head fell to the ground.
"i thought you would break eventually and just admit you were wrong. but you'd rather die, hm?"
"i- you- i tried-"
"i don't want your excuses, emil."
he swallowed hard as tears began falling freely from his eyes. he opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. you couldn't help but take some kind of pity on the poor man, your hand running under his chin and forcing him to look back at your face.
"you're so pathetic... this is what the terrible tyrant becomes?"
you ran your thumb along his bottom lip before you leaned in close enough to feel his ragged breath against your lips.
"give up your pathetic life. give everything to me. everything ends when you give it to me."
he tried to lean forward enough to catch your lips but you kept out of his reach. instead of letting him kiss you, you pulled away from him completely. you stood up straight and pulled your arms away from his body causing the pathetic man to drop onto his knees. his body hit the cobble like you'd dropped a corpse but you decided not to care, choosing to turn away instead.
you started to walk away when you heard scratching and clawing at the stone under your feet.
"-ing please. please!" his voice clearly strained to try get your attention.
you stopped in your tracks waiting for him to speak but instead you heard more clawing and shuffling. eventually you felt his head bump into your leg like a cat greeting its owner. his bloody hands grabbed your leg and he held onto you as tight as he could while rubbing his head against your leg.
"emil. let me go."
"please take it... please take everything..."
"let me go."
"you want everything its yours. please."
"emil."
you finally dared to look down at him. he was so pathetic, his tears and blood were staining your pants. you let out a heavy sigh and reached down, your hand running through his tangled mess of hair.
"if you mean that then tomorrow concede your kingdom to me."
his peachy pink eyes looked up at you.
"do you understand?"
he nodded.
"then let go. you're getting me dirty."
he hesitated but he slowly let go of your leg.
———
of course your husband came through. he did as you ordered him, meaning you ascended to the title of king ahead of your schedule. while it certainly had its benefits it did leave a few things unfinished specifically on the guild master's end. so after everything settled into place you used your new found power to help staple in the final touches.
your husband who had been so happy to have you next to him again the past few months had to resume the drugs just so your hard work wouldn't completely slip away. he was still walking around like a corpse just a better maintained one. but no one seemed to have the time to pay much mind in the chaos of making you king. no one had the time to wonder where he went near the end of the chaos as you took over. and it was only when it was too late did his advisors even notice he wasn't anywhere to be found in the castle. you had to reassure them that he was currently tucked away from the public receiving the utmost medical care for his poor condition.
you ran a hand through your hair as you descended the dungeon steps, you were currently complaining to your maid about all the tedious parts of your job. there was an undeniable smile on your face though, the pride of having the most powerful kingdom in your hands made even the tedium valuable. your smile only widened twisting into a sick smirk as your torch caught onto the dirty form of your caged husband. he was on his knees clinging to the bars of his cell with tearful dead eyes.
"how long has it been, emil...?"
you walked over and crouched in front of him, he immediately went to push his head against your hand.
"your highness it's been 6 months since your last visit." your maid hung the torch nearby.
"really...? it's been over a year since i started this..."
your maid set about preparing emil's food while you pet him gently.
"i didn't mean to forget you down here."
the poor man didn't even seem to realize as he rubbed his head against your hand.
"oh emil... to think it only took a little over a year to break the mad king. to take everything away from you. to trap you in a little cage like you did my family."
the maid returned with some fresh water and a bowl of porridge. you pulled away from emil as she gave him his food. you watched his pathetic eyes look up at you desperately and you cocked your head to the side.
"your highness he's asking permission to eat."
your eyes lit up as you looked over at your maid. "oh my goodness!! you're incredible! i remember telling you i wanted to train him but to think you really went the extra mile..."
"thank you, sir. it's an absolute honor to break the man who destroyed my home."
your smile didn't fade as you looked down at the pleading former tyrant. "go ahead. but you can't use your hands."
emil hesitated before he finally shoved his face down into the bowl, eating like a pig with slop. it was a disgusting but amusing site, you and your maid had a good laugh at his expense.
once he was done you decided to give him a reward for good behavior. you crouched down in front of him and gently cleaned the mess off his face with a warm wash cloth. it was the closest thing he'd had to a real bath in the past 6 months. he was sobbing as he leaned into your hands.
it didn't last as long as he'd liked and you pulled away again.
"continue training him. id like to parade him around eventually so we should work with that goal in mind."
"you'll have his complete obedience. he won't even think to breathe without your permission."
"wonderful." you ran a hand down through his tangled mess of hair. "... I'll give you a budget so you can properly turn this area into the perfect training facility and our private friend can help you with the details."
"i look forward to it, your highness."
"i do too. when we're done with you you'll finally tell me you love me. you'll thank me for all of this, emi."
all you got was a whimper in response. you left your precious husband down in the dungeon, a forgotten and disgraced king.

Tumblr media
Snow clings to your boots as you trudge through the wintry woodlands of the North, the biting chill cutting through even the thickest furs you’ve borrowed from House Stark. Winterfell is alive today with excitement, for Cregan Stark himself is leading the hunt, and you've persuaded your brother to join. Jace looks delighted, eagerly exchanging talk with the Stark men, laughing and jesting with a camaraderie that comes easily to him. Cregan leads, with his watchful gaze cutting through the snow-covered forest as he speaks in low, firm tones that captivate those around him. It’s hard to ignore the sense of command he exudes, a quality you’ve come to appreciate more and more since arriving.
The North’s chill is harsher than any cold you’ve felt on Dragonstone, and yet, you find warmth in the glances you steal at Cregan, the Warden of the North. His gaze meets yours often, and each time, there’s a flicker of something unspoken—a fire beneath the ice. But today, you’re in the mood for more than just glances. A bold idea takes root, and as you survey the surrounding woods, your lips curl into a mischievous smile.
"Cregan," you call, pulling your horse up beside his. He looks over, raising an eyebrow at the challenge in your voice.
“Aye, my lady?” His voice is deep, grounded like the Northern earth beneath you. You can hear the amusement in his tone, as though he’s already bracing himself for whatever scheme you’re concocting.
You tilt your chin, feigning a casual air. “Tell me, what does House Stark find worthy of a hunt?”
Cregan’s grin widens slightly. “Stags, bears, even wolves,” he answers, glancing to his men. “Northern beasts fierce enough to keep even our best hunters on edge.”
You shake your head, feigning disappointment. “Not fierce enough, then.”
He raises an eyebrow, intrigued. “Oh? And what would satisfy a Valyrian?”
“Dragons,” you say, watching him with a glint in your eye. “The kind that can outmatch a wolf in speed, wits, and fire.”
Your words hang in the air, catching Cregan—and the men—off guard. Even Jace has stopped mid-sentence, staring at you as if you’d grown another head.
“You want me to hunt a dragon?” Cregan asks, his voice a mixture of skepticism and intrigue. The men around him exchange uneasy glances, clearly uncertain about your jest.
“Yes,” you say, holding his gaze, a slight smile on your lips. “A dragon of flesh and blood, scales and fire… and daring enough to let you try.”
Jace chuckles, crossing his arms with an amused shake of his head. “Sister, you’ve truly lost your wits. You’re offering yourself as prey?”
"Only if Cregan thinks he can catch me," you reply, with a taunting edge in your voice.
A murmur ripples through the hunting party, a mix of laughter and disbelief. But Cregan’s eyes remain fixed on you, studying you with a careful intensity that sends a thrill through your spine.
“Tell me, Princess Y/N,” he says, leaning slightly toward you, his voice low and filled with the promise of a challenge, “are you daring me to chase you on foot? Or do you intend to make this a true hunt?”
His question makes the corners of your mouth twitch. “Well, where’s the thrill in staying on the ground? My dragon, Gallaex, is nearby. You’ll have to catch me on his wings.”
His eyes flash with the prospect of the hunt, and for a moment, you think you’ve finally managed to break through that Northern reserve. He gives a quiet chuckle, nodding in acceptance of your terms.
“And how will I know you won’t burn me to a crisp if I get close?”
“Consider it part of the challenge,” you reply, arching an eyebrow. “If you can close the distance, perhaps I’ll decide you’re worthy enough to let live.”
Jace bursts out laughing, clapping Cregan on the shoulder. “Oh, I’d pay to see this, Cregan. I doubt you’ll get anywhere near her, though. You might not realize it, but my sister’s fiercer than any dragon you’ve heard about.”
Cregan looks back at you, and his smile is wolfish, mirroring the stark wildness of his homeland. “Then let it be a hunt worthy of legend,” he says, finally accepting your dare. “I’ll catch you, dragon or no.”
The thrill of the challenge sends a shiver through you, as potent as the bite of Northern cold. You take a step back, glancing over your shoulder at Jace, who’s grinning like a fool.
“Make sure you don’t get hurt, sister,” he teases, though there’s an affectionate warmth in his voice. “Cregan here might surprise you.”
You lift your chin. “Then let him try. The North may have its wolves, but it has yet to meet a dragon.”
With that, you turn, feeling the thrill course through your veins. You know that Cregan’s eyes are on you, and as you prepare to summon Gallaex, the promise of this chase—the thrill of being hunted by him—ignites a fire within you that no winter could ever hope to extinguish.
Tumblr media
The Northern wind howls, a relentless beast tearing through the forest as Cregan Stark and his hunting party advance through the snowy terrain, his men trudging in silence, eyes sharp as they scan the dense landscape. Even Jace, usually so full of laughter and jest, has fallen into a tense quiet as they all search for you and your dragon.
This isn’t any ordinary hunt, and every man knows it. Cregan has taken on your challenge to “catch” a dragon, a feat whispered about as mad by some, yet thrilling enough to drive the blood through their veins with fire. It’s no stag or wolf he seeks in this hunt, but a Valyrian princess—a Velaryon who has fire in her blood and the daring of dragons in her heart. And somewhere above, hidden within the vast white of the northern skies, waits Gallaex.
Gallaex is a creature of beauty and terror, like a ghost rising from the snow, pale and icy, his scales glimmering faintly under the light of the sun like polished pearls or the glistening frost on Winterfell’s towers at dawn. He is a dragon of pale white, the color of fresh snow—making him nearly invisible against the wintry landscape that sprawls beneath him. Massive, powerful wings spread wide, each movement a barely audible whisper in the cold, as if even the air respects his presence, too fearful to disturb him.
“By the gods,” mutters one of the Stark men as they catch sight of Gallaex in the distant sky, a faint, ghostly shape. “Are we truly meant to chase that?”
“Aye,” Cregan replies, his voice a low growl of determination. “And if you value your life, keep close, and don’t stray.”
Jace snorts beside him, the thrill evident in his voice. “I’d wager Gallaex has already spotted us. My sister wouldn’t let us draw this close without toying with us.”
“Toying?” Cregan asks, casting a glance at Jace.
“She likes to test people,” Jace answers with a grin. “And Gallaex… he’s as much a part of her as her own skin. They’re both cunning and know the land around them. The skies are their domain, and they’re waiting for us to enter it.”
Cregan’s eyes narrow, fixed on the faint shape in the sky. “Then we’ll give them the chase they want.”
Jace laughs, nudging Cregan with his shoulder. “I knew I liked you, Stark. A dragon hunts best when their prey is fearless.” He tilts his head up, calling into the sky. “Sister! Are you afraid to come down and face us?”
A heartbeat later, Gallaex’s massive form shifts, descending in a wide circle, just low enough that they can hear the beat of his wings echo through the frozen trees. The dragon’s pale eyes seem to glint with something akin to mischief as he hovers, each beat of his wings sending gusts of snow swirling around the hunters below.
And then, your voice calls down from above, as sharp as an icy wind, yet carrying warmth enough to stoke a fire. “You’ll have to do better than that, Jace. Cregan, if you truly mean to catch me, you’ll need to keep up!”
Cregan’s jaw tightens as he watches you, perched gracefully atop Gallaex’s back, with a look in your eyes that dares him to try. “You think I won’t?” he shouts back.
Your laugh rings out, bright and wild. “We shall see, my lord.”
With that, Gallaex gives a powerful beat of his wings, sending snow and frost flying in a blinding cloud, obscuring him and you from sight in an instant. By the time it clears, you’re soaring through the sky once more, a pale ghost against the endless expanse of white, leading them further into the wilderness.
Cregan signals to his men to move quickly, his voice steady, though his heart pounds with the thrill of the chase. “Follow close! She’s fast, but we’re not beaten yet.”
The party picks up the pace, breaking into a run through the deep snow, following the occasional flicker of white scales or a shadowy shape in the sky that betrays Gallaex’s movement. Cregan feels the burn in his muscles, the cold biting at his skin, but he pushes on, unwilling to falter. There’s something exhilarating about chasing after you, knowing you’re just out of reach, leading him on a path only you and Gallaex know.
Jace jogs beside him, panting but grinning. “You look determined, Cregan. I hope you’re prepared for what you’ve started.”
“Nothing has ever come easy in the North, Velaryon,” Cregan replies without slowing down, a fierce glint in his eyes. “Your sister wanted a hunt—so that’s what I’ll give her.”
Ahead, Gallaex begins to descend once more, vanishing into a narrow, forested valley where the trees grow close and the terrain is rough. It’s a clever choice on your part, knowing that the dragon’s pale form will be near impossible to spot against the scattered patches of snow-covered trees.
The Stark men slow as they enter the valley, glancing up nervously, unsure of where Gallaex might reappear. Jace leans in close to Cregan, murmuring, “She’ll try to keep us guessing. Gallaex is her partner in every way—they’ve been together since she was young.”
Cregan nods, his gaze never leaving the trees above. “I’ll catch her, Jace. You can tell her that if she means to toy with me, I won’t be the one to tire first.”
Just then, a blast of snow erupts from the trees ahead, and Gallaex swoops down in a dizzying dive, so close that the men stumble back, raising arms to shield themselves from the gust that accompanies his descent. For a moment, his pale form vanishes among the snow-laden branches, a creature as silent and relentless as the Northern winter itself.
Cregan’s eyes narrow as he sees you again atop Gallaex, your gaze locking with his for a heartbeat, and he feels the challenge in your eyes. You hold his stare, daring him to come closer. Then, with a swift pull on Gallaex’s reins, you steer him up, soaring back into the sky with a grace that takes his breath away.
“Is that all you’ve got, Stark?” you call down, laughter in your voice. “I thought the North boasted wolves, not hounds who give up the chase.”
“Giving up?” Cregan growls, a fierce smile breaking across his face. “Not a chance.”
As you circle above, Gallaex’s form barely visible in the falling snow, Cregan readies himself, feeling every muscle in his body coil with determination. His men are breathing heavily beside him, unsure of how this strange chase will end, but the look in Cregan’s eyes is enough to keep them going. This is no mere hunt—it’s a battle of wits, endurance, and will.
He shouts up to you, voice carrying through the cold air. “You can’t stay in the air forever, princess. And when you land, I’ll be there waiting.”
You laugh again, but there’s a hint of excitement in your voice now. “Then you’ll have to be cleverer than that, Cregan Stark. Catching a dragon isn’t so easy.”
Jace claps Cregan on the back, grinning. “She’s taunting you. Don’t disappoint her now!”
Cregan tightens his grip on his weapon, eyes blazing with the thrill of the hunt. “Let her run, then. It’ll make catching her all the sweeter.”
With a final glance at the sky, he sets off once more, determined to outlast the dragon and the rider who dares to challenge him, ready to prove that even the fiercest creature can’t escape a Northern wolf.
Tumblr media
The snow-laden forest is silent, save for the soft rustling of wind through the pines and the faint crackle of distant ice. Gallaex’s wings cut through the cold air with practiced precision as he glides above the treetops. You feel the cold air biting at your face, but the thrill of the chase has filled you with a warmth that no winter wind could chill. Beneath you, Cregan and his men track your every move with a tenacity you hadn't expected; no matter how high you soar or how skillfully Gallaex weaves through the skies, you feel Cregan’s presence close, determined, like the winter itself.
You can’t help but smile, watching as he pursues you with relentless focus, weaving his way through the rugged Northern landscape with an ease that makes you wonder if the North itself guides his steps. You've taunted him, challenged him, and now, with Gallaex beginning to tire, you know the time is coming when you'll have to land. Gallaex gives a low rumble beneath you, his exhaustion evident as his wings grow heavy with each beat.
“Shall we give them one last challenge?” you murmur to him, stroking the side of his neck.
Gallaex answers with a soft growl, but you know it’s time. You guide him down into the forest, searching for a landing spot concealed by snow-laden trees, where you can disappear into the wood and maybe—just maybe—make Cregan work a little harder for his prize.
The moment Gallaex’s claws touch the snow, you slide off his back, patting his neck before sending him back up to circle above. You know he’ll keep watch, ready to swoop in if needed. But this part of the chase is yours alone.
You dart into the dense woods, your heart pounding with the thrill of the hunt. Every step you take is silent, your Valyrian blood lending you a lightness that allows you to move without leaving much of a trace. Yet even as you run, you can sense him. Cregan is close, his every step bringing him nearer, guided by some invisible thread that binds him to you in this moment. You wonder if he can hear your heartbeat; it feels loud enough to echo through the forest.
Then, suddenly, a shadow moves ahead of you, and before you can react, Cregan emerges from behind a tree, his intense gaze locking onto yours. He moves like a wolf, silent and predatory, blocking your escape with a slight smirk that tells you he’s anticipated this move.
“So, this is where the dragon hides,” he murmurs, his voice low and steady, thick with Northern timber. “I thought you'd make me chase you a bit longer.”
You take a step back, but your smile is defiant, unwilling to yield so easily. “Think you’ve won, Lord Stark? I still have wings.”
“And I have patience.” He takes a step closer, his eyes gleaming with the thrill of the chase. “I told you I'd catch you.”
With nowhere to run, you tilt your head, raising an eyebrow. “And if you have? What prize does the wolf demand for catching his dragon?”
For a moment, he’s silent, his gaze searching yours, as if weighing the depth of his own answer. And then, with a smile both fierce and earnest, he replies, “The North is in need of a wife for its Lord.”
Your heart stutters, caught off guard by the weight of his words. “A wife?”
“Aye,” he nods, his gaze never leaving yours. “A woman fierce enough to dare me into a hunt—and skilled enough to make me work for it.”
You’re quiet for a moment, feeling the tension between you both, charged with unspoken promises and a yearning neither of you had allowed yourselves to admit. “And you believe a dragon would suit the North?” you ask softly, a hint of challenge in your voice.
His expression turns serious, though his eyes remain warm. “A dragon with your fire would do more than suit it—she’d light it brighter than any flame, and the North would be all the better for it.”
The sincerity in his words is undeniable, and something within you softens, realizing that this is more than a chase, more than a game between hunter and hunted. The North is cold and harsh, but Cregan stands before you like a promise of warmth, a force as enduring as winter itself.
“So,” you murmur, tilting your head, “if I were to accept this… reward, what would you say to your bannermen? That Lord Stark hunted down his own dragon?”
Cregan lets out a low laugh, stepping closer so that he’s only inches away, his breath warm against your chilled skin. “They’ll sing of it for generations. They’ll say the wolf was bold enough to catch a dragon and wise enough to keep her.”
You chuckle, finding yourself drawn to his intensity. “And will the wolf promise to keep her warm in the North?”
He grins, raising an eyebrow. “The North might be cold, but my lady needn’t fear the chill so long as I’m near.” His hand reaches out, gently brushing a lock of hair from your face. His touch is rough, warm, grounding you in this moment as he leans in, his voice a low murmur. “So tell me, do I have your favor?”
You hold his gaze, feeling your pulse quicken. “Only if you swear to never let the dragon grow cold or idle.”
His smile softens, though the fire in his eyes remains, fierce and unyielding. “Then it’s a vow, my lady. From this day forward.”
Around you, the forest stands silent, as if bearing witness to the pact sealed between you, a wolf and his dragon, bound by fire and frost alike.
From that day on, the tale would spread through the North and beyond, whispered with awe and laughter by Cregan’s bannermen: how Lord Stark, the Wolf of Winterfell, had hunted down a dragon and claimed her as his own, binding her not with chains or force, but with an unbreakable bond, forged in the heart of winter. And the North would never forget how the wolf and the dragon became one, each fierce enough to stand alone, yet unstoppable together.
