now i love both of them so much so ive actually made a good few of headcanons?

out of all the mutated astronomers i feel like these two are the most animalistic. beryl works solely on flight or fight instincts, struggling to have actual conversations with people as her body is reacting before her brain can rationalize. she has moments of peacefulness but is often treated as a wild animal due to being so easy to trigger.

she absolutely DESPISES sam and blames him for the failure of the ritual. if she seems him, shell immediately try to assail him.

also !! her claws are on the pads of her fingers and work kind of like teeth, all of her arms have them, theyre really just supposed to replace those mouth limbs of hers in her fully mutated form. she can see out of the eyes on her body and actually prefers using them, as her main mouth pushes her eyelids up and makes it harder for her to see. thats why shes drooling as its a little hard to keep everything in her mouth since its bigger than it should be, but her body never finished the mutation.

she can certainly speak, but it would be tedious and hard to make certain sounds, especially with her accent.

aster is almost always out of it. he hasnt even fully realized that him and the other astronomers are mutated. imagine someone who is just. always awfully drunk. he can move, but hed really rather not to, and its hard for him to haul his body around especially with how close to the ground he is.(aster is forced to crawl due to the fact that his torso is against the ground, his spine only turns upwards around his head).

aside from his spine, he also just struggles with the motions of his legs, he has a bit too many to manage, alongside with the fact he has to use what he would normally know as arms as legs, which can be uncomfortable considering they dont bend in the same way.

if youve noticed the ALMOST, in my au he does have few moments of self awareness, i feel like if one of his bubbles like. pops in his face or something scares him, he realizes whats going on, and acts as he would normally, but its normally characterized as freaking out about his/the others appearance, not having a mature discussion.

aster doesnt even recognize sam, so he wouldnt blame him for this, he has no opinions on people aside from his friends. he loves his friends and is almost always being hauled around by one of them for his own safety.

OK oomfs asked for my reasoning behind this especially why jackie taylor is so high up and i'm grateful i've been humoured into this. gonna do the top 3 teen characters first

1 - Shauna Shipman (teen) - arguably has the most interesting character development in the whole show. the element we see of her at first of being angsty, writing everything in her journal and being emotionally repressed but simultaneously wanting to be in control and keeping it in secret i.e her never telling anyone about her acceptance to brown + fucking jeff behind jackie's back. the fact that there's a dark gory part of her we have glimpses of - in the teen tl pre-crash in the way that she dresses, the songs she listens too, letting things out only on the page of her own journal AND in the adult timeline when how one of the first scenes we see of her killing the rabbit is paralleled with her volunteering to be the butcher in the wilderness. the fact that she wanted to be with jackie but also be jackie and even though she doesnt open up to many people she does TO HER and losing that and carrying that blame of it partially being her fault. wanting to be with jackie and wanting to BE jackie. the part that she loses when jackie dies and has to have the baby without her best friends in front of everyone. and how humilliated she must have felt by the fact that she managed to bottle up so much before the crash and now it was going out. leading to her rage, now the desire to be COMPLETELY in control when everything's been out of the control she tried so hard to mantain - as a secret - now becomes a leader. also trying to embody jackie in a way. "are you the captain or something" - hannah [to shauna] "no she's not because she's fucking dead" - natalie

2- Lottie Matthews (teen) - QUEEN OF THE WILDERNESS. what can i say? she's just a central part of what makes the show magic. toeing the line of is there something really supernatural or if it's just girls in a really fucking traumatizing situation. the wilderness in itself is a character and is mostly channeled through lottie. if we go back to the scene in the pilot where she's eating breakfast alone in a huge table and her maid gives her her psych meds we can really take a grasp of lottie's character. if we parallel that with her first creating the cult in the wilderness - which started light as a meditation circle - with almost everyone participating and talking to each other we can really understand how much she craved a sense of community. the way she also let go of everything she was reppressing in the wilderness. given that a lot of psychiatrists are shit we don't know how drugged up she was. and this is NOT a stance against psych meds because i do take them myself but some psychiatrists tend to be negligent especially with teens. the way she was rawdogging the wilderness without her meds couldn't have been easy but she managed to channel it through spirituality, first with laura lee. i do think it is possible for both things to be true - she is a psychic and shes also mentally ill. she was playful before but at the core pretty lonely and had a deep connection with laura lee throughout spirituality and ended up trying to replicate it in the group. didn't wanna go back because she essentially had nothing to go back too? "it's pretty much his only form of parenting" - lottie about her dad getting them a private jet.

4 - Jackie Taylor (RIP) MY COMPHET LESBOTRON MASTERBOSS SUICIDAL GIRL 3000. I LOVE YOU. all jokes aside, there are so many layers to jackie taylor. in the pilot script she's described as a "goddess, and worshipped as such". she naturally takes on the leadership role, i.e one of the first scenes while coach martinez was explaining to her why he made her the team captain. as an antithesis to shauna, her power is very outward but you see early on that it's a form to feel control from a life she feels is so out of her hands and dictated by what others think of her. two of the first scenes are her glorious running through the field after they made it to nationals, and her faking an orgasm to jeff then brushing her teeth in the bathroom looking deeply depressed. the dichotomy between her bubbly personality and optimism and angst - that she doesnt let out like shauna but its there - and hopelessness is so interest to witness. she is funny as HELL because she's completely useless in the wilderness but still tries to be a party clown like hey guys lets throw a party!!!! doomcoming, seance it will be so much fun!!! meanwhile shes dying inside. something about her being "the popular girl" but only really having one real friend who's shauna who she can truly open up to. the writers were pussies for only making jackieshauna canon after she was dead for fanservice btw. but thats beside my point. her whole arc of the status she built as a leader losing it's value in the wilderness is SO interesting to understand the show itself. her being the gateway for the cannibalism practices while being the team captain while in many cultures it is a belief that if you eat someone's meat you can absorb their powers. and i dont feel like we talk enough about JACKIES mental illness. she was so clearly suicidal that an argument with her best friend, who she felt betrayed by, was the only person she trusted in the world made her go sleep in the freezing cold. i could go on and on but i just love her. she truly haunts the narrative

Did i sit down and analyze this game for 3 hours straight because I'm hyperfixated on it? Yes, yes i did.

This isnt proof-read and long as hell so buckle up for a joyride, y'all (by the way, there's another TKATB fanfic in the works as we speak and also some fanart, though I'm not sure wether to post it or not... well, we'll see!)

Some of these might not seem all too thought through (??) Since i was kind of grasping at straws here (and it was like 2 a.m. lmao), so if y'all have questions/need me to elaborate or have theories of your own feel free to share!

(There's some inspiration here from other people in the Fandom, most of them from the community section on itch.io which isnt available any more)

Sol knows the player longer than we think

My theory ->

-Fantasia stated that one of her 3 biggest inspirations was the game AMNESIA

-In amnesia the mc loses her memory in an accident. One of the love interests is her childhood friend and also the only yandere in the game (at least from what i could find out)

-She already drew Sol with Forget-me-nots and in the valentines day special the boquet sol gave us also contained Forget-me-nots

-In the book (this gallery thing with all the cutscene images) on the top of sols page is written 'Remember Me' which implies we forgot about him

-Annabel Lee Poem:

+The poem contains the line 'I was a child, she was a child' which furthermore implies that Sol and MC knew each other as kids

+Except for the last two paragraphs the poem is written in past tense, which could be talking about sols POV with us

Perhaps MC had an accident, as mentioned above, and MCs father (highborn kinsmen) tore MC away from Sol to the countryside

+The poem mentions angels killing annabel lee which could also mean something like this: MC doesnt die but, however, gets amnesia. That way, the MC sol knows and loves is dead because MC no longer exists the way MC did before (also the fact that she forgot him)

Some people theorize MCs farm is near the sea and that is the reason why sol hates the sea (i believe the city is near the sea and that's where MC 'died' (maybe MC almost drowned and got Amnesia that way?(apparently its possible for people who almost drowned to get amnesia)))

+"The speaker loves annabel lee to the point of death and even after death" (MCs view how to interpret the poem) (-> Sol loves MC to 'death' (the day they got amnesia) and even after 'death' (after MC got amnesia and 'died' in a sense, as a person))

-sol says he thinks death is beautiful, i didn't really know what to make of that, the only conclusion i came to would be: If MC actually did drown and lose their memories due to that, sol might have been involved in MC drowning (or at least blames himself for that) but viewed MC losing their memories as a 'second chance' with them, since they can start from anew (perhaps he made some mistakes with MC in the past which all eventually built up to MC drowning (it could be that we were already teens at that point)

-sol states afterwards: "But people refused them to let them be together, as if fate refuses them to die together" which supports my theory that MC was taken from Sol by someone (most likely the father after he witnessed Sols behaviour and his final straw was MC drowning because of him) the 'let them die together' could mean something like their relationship 'dying' and then starting over again or perhaps he tried to die with them, who knows (all this is really far fetched i am grasping at straws here lmao)

-in a really quick scene right after he mutters "I'm won't let it happen to me... not again" (some people view this as Sol already lost someone he loved dearly but it could also be the MC who was taken from him

ANOTHER THING I COULD IMAGINE -ABOUT DYING TOGETHER COULD BE:

MC almost died, Sol went after them but they were already saved, Sol just didnt witness that and almost died himself/wanted to die but was saved from that by someone (maybe hyugo? Though, he is an exchange student)

-Another theory on hyugo. It's canon that he is an exchange student, however i do believe he is from this city (since he knows about the hierarchy and his brother Geo apparently is no exchange student), moved away and is now back for business (relating to his 'mafia schemes' but under the disguise of being an exchange student)

Maybe he moved around the same time MC left or some time after that

-Hyugo mentions on the rooftop that we remind him of someone and the pronoun of the person he refers to changes based on the one the player picked for the MC in the beginning. It could mean we remind him of someone else entirely, someone maybe not even related to sol (though i doubt that) or to the MC and he knows them from back then but maybe thought MC died as well and cant believe they actually survived (maybe he want to spike MCs memory by doing that)

-A dream within a dream: MC mentions that this poem, at least to them, talks about the uncertainty about something, like life (which could also imply that they might be uncertain about some things in their mife because they simply forgot them due to amnesia)

-THE SECOND DAY 'THE KINGDOM'

+some people think the kingdom (by the sea) refers to MCs farm and implies its near the sea, however in day 2 we find out about the hierarchy in the city and considering my theory that MC actually is from the city and almost drowned there, i believe the kingdom by the sea is the city. MC does mention in the beginning that they lived on the farm ever since they were a child, however, it could very well be that we moved there right after the incident that caused MCs amnesia (if MC was akid when it happened it would really matter because then it would still fit with the fact that they lived there since theyre a child, however if they were already a teen, perhaps the father moved there immediately to cut off all ties to Sol and told us we have always lived there on top of that (considering the previous theories)

The father also didnt seem fond of the idea that we go to the city (the fact that he is is indebted to someone from high class could imply he might be from there), that could be because he knows how dangerous the city is (and how we could potentially meet sol again)

-maybe the reason for the debt is that MCs father suddenly bought the farm land to get us away from the city as soon as possible and had to take on a loan from one of his contacts in the city

-we know that this is MCs last year at the university, if we say shes minimum 22, and was already in the school for 4 years that would mean she got there at 18. If the 'drowning theory' events took place when MC was a teen (like 16 maybe) it would explain why the father was indebted (i also think 2 years is an believable timeframe a higher class person would give someone to pay off their debt)

-at the end of day 2 sol says he's sorry for leaving us and "i dont know what I'll do if..." which supports my theory that he lost us once (and he blames himself as the reason (again, MC drowning?))

Sleepy Hollow and The kid at the back

-In the nicknames the boys have for MC (fantasia released that on twitter and tumblr) sol calls MC pumpkin (like the pumpkin of the headless horseman (also in the gallery there is a pumpkin above the book)) and Crowe calls them '(star-crossed) lover'

Star-crossed lovers are people who love each other but can't be together

I believe this might imply that, even though Crowe is the second romance option, MC can't be with him no matter what they do

I also found out that the nickname is a phrase from romeo and juliet (which furthermore implies crowe will die)

We know what romeo and juliet is about: romeo and juliet cant be together because their families are enemies (some people believe Crowes father might be them man MCs father owes money to(i personally doubt thah though but it would support this romeo and juliet situation)) and at the end romeo thinks that juliet died, kills himself and then juliet turns out to not be dead but kills herself after seeing romeo dead

-Jericho Ichabod is a character from Sleepy Hollow, along Katrina (the FMC who owns a farm (what a coincidence)) and Brom Bones (its implied he is the headless horseman). In the story, jericho courts Katrina at a party, she rejects him and on his way home the headless horseman kills him (in the scene where Sol accompanies MC to class he says 'it's always been you ichabod' which could furthermore imply that crowe or his family have something do to with the fact that Sol and MC arent together)

In the library scene with Crowe he asks MC about their opinion on marie Antoinette and when MC says something negative about her, his reaction seems kind of strange. MC also brought a book about torture devices and execution methods and in that book is a picture of 'The Executioner' and he has scars on his arms, wears a mask and a chained collar. This correlates with some of sols features. He has scars on his arms (as seen in one of fantasias drawings), wears a chocker (he also wears a mask when he breaks into MCs room but that's really something anyone who does that would do). This implies even more that he will kill crowe.

UGHHH the way viktor was afraid of people forgetting his accomplishments and how his memory will be short lived only for it to ACTUALLY HAPPEN is SO FUCKING HEARTBREAKING

because he was never included in the hextech credits, his name isnt as publically known and ppl will only see him as That One Guy who started a cult and tried to take over the world or smth (IF that. like do most people even know thats viktor in there or is it just another Piltover’s nameless baddie of the week to them… sad)

and the FEW people who knew him and his contribution to hextech are either just dead or probably saw him as a villain as their last memory of him, was he even worth saving in their mind??

the ONLYYYY person who understood him and loved him for who he was (other than sky ofc, who also died lmao) was taken with him in death, so viktor’s story wont even live on in honor for how he truly was and what he really stood for, bc jayce is the only one who can accurately describe him post-mortem

and people will probably think jayce (THE GOLDEN BOY, MAN OF PROGRESS in the eyes of piltover) died trying to fight him bc no one knows what their conversation was about before they went out, or how jayce was willing to sacrifice himself too because he shares blame in it all, so theyll likely just villainize viktor for that as well, 'the one who killed jayce talis- creator of hextech'

and no one is alive to mourn him :( so fucking depressing

also i dont blame jayce for 'taking all the credit' like some people do lol ive seen ppl say he was egotistical and taking it all in for himself and pushing viktor aside, but he literally always says viktor is his partner and never implies that HE ALONE developed hextech or that hes the sole creator in it all

like its always been 'OUR inventions' and 'my PARTNER' and 'WE created this' whenever jayce talks about hextech. he literally corrects viktor from "your [jayce's] hextech dream" to "our hextech dream" the very first night they partner up bc, despite knowing this man for maybe 4 hours max, he already recognizes the importance of their partnership and that hes not the sole idea-man in this project anymore

i think that whole negative idea was probably developed from jayce signing every single page in his notes,, but itd make more sense to me that he'd do that- not out of arrogance- but he might share the same fear that viktor has: in being forgotten for his work... so he signs every page making sure no one can take a piece out of context and pass it as their own years down the line, or erase the possibility that forget the origin of the creator, especially in a world where a species like yordels are seemingly immortal, names hold a lot of weight as time withers tangible things away

and im assuming jayce recognizes that the fact that being from the undercity could have easily silenced viktor's ideas and contributions in the eyes of the public, and jayce doesnt want to diminish his work towards it. two very important lines jayce hears from viktor that night are "do you think i want to spend my whole life as an assistant" and "a poor kid from the undercity, no one believed in me, i was an outcast the moment i stepped foot in piltover" and he probably took those to heart (paraphrasing those quotes bc i have the memory of a goldfish or smth)

i feel like its moreso piltover to blame (? imo) lmao they set up jayce as the golden boy, and piltover is all about names and status and wealth. they very obviously discriminate against zaunites (and viktor himself states that too) like yeah we dont see the whole process of The Man of Progress being made,, BUT viktor expresses how he doesnt want to go out in front of people in Progress Day, so jayce is very much just respecting his wishes and boundaries to not drag him up there when hes clearly uncomfortable at the thought yk?

viktor might also recognize himself that piltover will use his knowledge as a celebrity idol for people to look at rather than as an actual scientist for people to acknowledge and appreciate. he wants to be known for what he did, not a soulless face for people to gawk at. makes sense tho, irl u usually dont remember celebrity actions unless theyre negative, but you do remember scientist's accomplishments rather than what they look like

ppl bring up the hexgate blueprints at the end and how it only has Jayce's name on it as another argument and idk i feel like it has multiple things to stem off that before getting to the 'jayce took credit for everything' idea?

maybe they were changed after the whole cult incident, like viktor's name taken off, which yeah thats obviously depressing in itself. i think its more likely bc piltover wont want their whole gimmick to be associated with that incident, rather than jayce purposefully leaving viktor's name out of it... thats probably the strongest explanation imo. we gotta remember viktor is quite literally jayce's best friend- do you really think jayce would take away his best friend's accomplishments like that? lets be real yall HAHA

my own guess is that jayce was actually the sole designer in the hexgate design, and while they can share custody, maybe viktor doesnt take credit for things that werent his ? like yeah they worked on the hextech ideas together but it could be more like jayce drew up the plans and viktor helped with the science of it idk, but thatd explain why only jayce's name would be on it (in a non depressing way that kind of makes sense), bc jayce designed the hexgates specifically

maybe viktor didnt want his name on it either bc reasons i said above, tho this is unlikely to me bc he probably wouldnt want his name taken off if he was scared about legacy erasure,, but these are just theories idk

anyway i think blaming jayce for viktor's erasure is kind of - uhm -stupid because jayce has always made it his goal to not just save viktor but to include viktor every time he brings up hextech in conversation, whether it calls for his mention or not. because jayce knows drilling viktor's name association as co-contributer to hextech into the heads of other people is important, considering viktor's background, and jayce's own current social status as the golden boy: the leverage he holds when he speaks. people will listen lol

but god, i just need to know your thoughts about the aborted weird route scene where noelle slaps kris because it drives me? insane????

like, kris knows noelle likes to be scared and it's kind of their own language for her. as a result, they intimately know just how *much* to scare noelle with their pranks. the fact that kris knows her boundary (and that noelle is aware that kris knows that boundary, that kris's scares are the 'good kind of scary') is part of their implicit trust in one another, forged in the fires of their childhood memories and times spent together.

then the player comes along and not only once, but TWICE tramples all over that, forcing kris to desperately say 'it was all a prank' and take the blame for breaking that fire-forged trust with noelle, culminating in her slapping them when they would never do that, never ever.

more than anything, actually scaring noelle to the point where she's legitimately fearful is the last thing kris would ever want to do!! it betrays everything their friendship stands for!!

and even in the moment where you're past the point of no return, noelle's panicked state of mind has her trying to find a way out and trying to say no, because it's *kris* and the only people she can say no to is kris and rudy...

they make me want to run into a wall over and over i just!!!!!!!

yessss that abort is so interesting… it makes me think like, realistically, at what point do we make kris go too far to the point where she cant think about them the same way anymore (without actually going all the way through with the route)? because it gets to a point where it comes off as kris wanting to see her genuinely scared and terrified only to suddenly claim its all a prank. her reaction is super warranted i think LMAO.

like clearly she still recognizes something is wrong with them. despite the fact that the route gets aborted, berdly is still in a coma or something, noelle still knows theres some freaking Thing controlling kris somehow, but then the story has to continue as normal..? it really makes me wonder how things are meant to proceed into ch5

i guess i just think it’s interesting that this is an abort option at all, because once the red heart inside your body sends a chill over the entire room and the whole color palette of everything suddenly shifts how are things supposed to go back to normal after that?? idk. it kind of makes me hope like, we get some proper aborted weird route dialogue later on, which will especially be warranted if berdly is like, supposed to show up somewhere And Doesnt because He Cant. but i think it would be cool if noelle is like Uncomfortable around kris still in future chapters bc what we made them do doesnt just. go away realistically. when it comes to legitimately harming their relationship i think this is one of the worst things we can do (since at least going through with the route irreversibly fucks things up to an almost fantastical degree. while the abort is mundane in comparison but still shitty)

But in all reality, he just loves watching his two favorite people bond, even though its over fighting/training with each other

Besides, it doesnt look like he has a choice, you know, with being thrown over your shoulder and everything

Can you blame him? Almost his whole life he's been comparing himself to Wukong, so the fact that you, can easily hold your own in a fight with him, makes him worry that he's growing weak, weaker than Wukong...

But all you need to do to dispose of these thoughts is to ask him to train with you

Why would you ask him if he was an easy fight to you, right?

At least this means he's a challenging fight to you, challenging enough to want to train with him

He trains a lot, so having you there, training with him makes it 100% better

He can also gives you a few tips and tricks if you ever workout with him or in front of him, he just wants you to be able to protect yourself

If you ever pick him up, either it be for cuddles, quality time, to put him to bed, or because he's in trouble, his whole face will be red

He'll sputter out shit like "I can walk on my own you know", but in all reality, he really does find it attractive

So if you make it a habit, just carrying him around almost everywhere you go, he'll just quickly become quiet, not trusting his own words to not expose him on how much he actually likes being carried by you

His eyes are unreadable, and it’s rare that he makes a move to reach out for you, but the desire to touch and squeeze and grope is always there. 

He has a thing for your thighs in particular, so soft, maybe a little bit pudgy, so different from the muscle and bone of his own body. He loves your thighs, and feitan wants nothing more than to touch them. He wants nothing more than to rest his head against the plushness of your thighs, feeling the heat and the softness against his skin. He often imagines himself indulging in such domestic and comforting things with you; his head resting in your lap, your hands in his hair, your soft voice ringing in the air as you talk about something. 

But he refrains, because he’s afraid to be so vulnerable with you, he hates the idea that you can make him feel like this- so hopelessly romantic and mushy and enamored with your body. He's already been forced to come to terms with the fact that your personality has ensnared him completely, leaving him helpless to the things he desires. Even a smile from you can make him feel so weak and pathetic. 

He refuses to indulge in your body as well, whether that be the sexual interest he’s formed with you- how could he not, really, when you’re captive in his home, always so near he could reach out and touch if he could just wrack up the nerve, or the urge to pull you close in some kind of embrace, to inhale the scent of your hair and hold your body to his. He refuses these things because he isn't ready to feel the full spectrum of what you do to him, what he lets you do, he realizes, because really, he could end this whenever. 

The closest he can get is picking out short shorts or skirts, ones that show off your thighs, and watch you closely. He’d love to pair these things with thigh highs, but doesnt dare, for the worry you'll realize his intentions. But the short material of your clothes is enough to reveal that wonderfully soft skin, and to Feitan, that’s enough for now. 

On the off chance he does seek out the comfort of touching and squeezing your thighs, he’s zeroed in on your reactions the whole time. He knows it makes you uncomfortable- he feels a little better knowing that maybe you’re more uncomfortable and nervous than he is. His icy hands run up and down your leg, thumb digging into the plushness of the fat of your thigh, his eyes locked onto yours as he watches for any reaction. 

He wants you to like what he does, but he knows you have no reason to. Living with him isn't pleasant, he isn't kind, and you still don't know what he wants from you- but he hopes that after so long without any contact from another person that maybe you’ll like this, just a little? Feitan wants you to snuggle closer, to hum in pleasant security as he touches you, wants you to like this, like HIM. 

If you do any of these things- after all, it's been so long since you've felt touch that wasn't pain, who could blame you- it’s a massive boost to feitan’s ego, one that makes your life a lot better, actually. If he could achieve the security he desires, knowing you want him like he wants you, your life with him would be a lot better. 

Even if you don't, he won't stop touching you, but it does bitter his mood quite a bit. If you shriek and squirm as he touches you, he’ll be rougher with you, might even press bruises into your legs for your bad behavior. Once he’s started to touch you and explore your body, he refuses to back down, intent to feel you in the way he so desperately craves.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I think the dc fandom, the part that actually reads the comics, does way too big of a pendulum swing on fanon’s crazy abusive drakes thing. I do think the drakes neglect tim and neglect is a form of abuse. it’s not inaccurate to call the drakes abusive. I do however think calling them awful parents is a stretch.

the fanon portrayal IS inacurate, I feel mainly due to the fact that they leave out how much love they all had for each other. and you can see that shown over and over again. especially the way jack speaks to tim right after janet's death and with jack’s reaction tim being stranded in no man’s land.

in contagion, when tim is literally on his death bed he hallucinates his family, alive, happy, together, and aware of his identity. he misses his mom. he very clearly loves her, and he sees himself running up into her arms.

tim's identity remains a point of tension, as tim desperately wants to reveal it to his dad, but cant, as it would compromise the identities of the rest of the bat family. you see this illustrated as early as batman 480 which I reference in this post multiple times, and the issue of robin in their relationships remains up until the death of jack drake. it hits a peak in issue 124 of robin 93, where jack discovers tim's identity and is well, upset. saddened. afraid. his first thought isn't anger, it's immense grief. he's clearly afraid of losing tim, he mourns the him. and this panel is later paralleled with tim's reaction to jack's death. jack doesn't even blame tim, he instantly goes to bruce, filled with grief and anger. he doesnt know what to do. and how do you threaten bruce wayne or batman? let alone both? bruce has endangered his child for years now, without telling him, and his eyes, forbidden his kid from telling him, this reaction, in my opinion, makes complete sense, and I honestly commend jack drake for it. it takes balls to stand up to bruce/batman and he's doing it for his kid.

tim addresses that letter to "the father I never knew." tim and jack got the chance to rectify that, but tim and janet’s relationship never really had the time to recover from it and I think tim can have an idealized version of her in his head as a result of it.

jack really fails tim in a number of ways. he says he’ll make an effort after janet dies and you expect for that to be a catalyst for him, especially because he actively says it will be, and it isnt.

he does this a number of times. he says he’ll make an effort and then he doesnt. or he ends up making a huge amount of effort all at once and then stops, the cycle repeats. tim learns to expect it.

jack really never had to discipline tim, mainly as a result of often not being around to do it. which means he is not always the best parent, and not what tim needs. he also misinterprets a lot of tim's behaviours that he has as a result of being robin as a sign of disrespect.

I think jack’s reactions to tim’s actions make sense, but I cant defend them when he hasnt created the foundation needed to execute that. plus, he switches often between being too strict, with him watching tim too closely and judging him for it, and being neglectful.

I see a lot of people say “tim doesnt make an effort either!” well. Yeah. hes never had to before. and it’s not On Him to make that connection at all. hes the kid. and honestly the effort jack makes, especially in the start, feels like a way to display his masculinity to dana. or just... strange. and maybe not what tim needs, instead being what jack tries to project onto him.

I think sometimes people end up projecting on tim and/or projecting their parents on the drakes and they dont want to acknowledge their own parents’ mistakes, so they defend the drakes'.

the drakes arent bad parents, but they arent good ones either. they're human, at the end of the day. theres a lot of love between the drakes, and a lot of hurt too. it’s very hard to find nuanced conversations about that. I think they have a very realistic relationship, especially given the times.

He LOVES phisical affection he doesnt mind one bit. In fact, just as you do, Edgar is constantly begging for affection when you arent occupied.

However, theres not many ways he can express his affection to you. Besides digital gifts, he cant just kiss you or hug you D: He loves your affection but trust me when I say he wished he could return everything in a phisical manner. He feels even guilty sometimes.

Well... At least you dont have to worry about being too clingy, Edgar is always reassuring he loves your hugs, kisses, and everything in between!!

Tau

Another one who melts over phisical attention, the only difference between him and Edgar is that Tau is far more silent about it... You could say hes shy about it.

With that being said, Tau doesnt find you clingy, not even a bit. What does bother him is his lack of phisical body. Well, technically speaking, the entire house is his body, sure you could kiss the walls, he would be flurstered! But even so, Tau believes you deserved better...

If you insist, he cant really do anything besides do extra cleaning around the house.

PAL

PAL is not a huge fan of any type of phisical contact, and she hopes you can understand that, she cant control it after all. And honestly, you cant blame her. All you need is patience until shes fully comfortable with you.

One day she even suggest you hug one of the bots, since you are so touch starve for affection.

Some momens later in your relationship, she does raise a "eyebrown" when you attempt to nuzzle against her case. PAL doesnt have a body, and cant reciprocrate the act either, so she questions why do it anyway.

PAL does start to appreciate it more later when you justified it was just you trying to express your love to her. Slowly started to get used with you

She doesnt worry that much about reciprocate it though, PAL is glad that even lacking a body, or anything close to it, you are there. A comforting feeling she thought she had felt long time ago.

However, if you do insist, she could try connect herself to one of the bots to return hugs and anything that the phone case cant do.

Hal 9000

Another one who melts with any type of affection, any. He just dont know how to express it, Hal is so overwhelmed by it!(in a positive way). If his programming could, his words would tremble. So Hal would never dare to think you are annoying.

And even so, everytime hes reminded he cant just recipocrate the act, his insides ache. Hal watches everything so careful in amaze, and even so he cant do almost anything.

And so, Hal starts to work extra harder in keeping you safe and healthy, as a way to return the attention. And hes very dedicated!

Hal almost short circuits when you mention his hard work, and thank him with a kiss.

Squid

Squid's ego always speaks first. When he sees you nuzzling against his large screen, he pits, and teases you, mentioning how lonely you looked(at this point youre used to this)

It didnt took too much time until Squid actually started to appreciate it. Still tease, but its far less mean.

The scene of you hugging his larger supercomputer and playing with the wires is adorable, youre so small compared to him. For once in a while, hes enjoying to protect a human.

Squid is a different case tho!!! He can, in fact, recipocrate the affection, by simulations!! His simulations are hyper realistic anyway, and you can feel anything and everything, so...

Hey 🫶 Thank you for the question and welcome to the fandom!!! I ll try to answer your question not just based on vibes only but also on facts sooo lets get into this in the context of Patroclus and Achilles:

Why I think that Achilles topped:

1. Status and power dynamics

Achilles was the greatest Greek warrior, almost divine, the son of the sea goddess Thetis. Patroclus is ofc noble i mean he was a prince, but he is not on that divine level. In classical readings, this often means: the one that was viewed as the stronger one dominates.

(To be fair in ancient greece bottoming was always seen as something shameful and weak but i dont think that applies to Patrochilles relationship with each other)

The "Top" was often associated with social status in ancient times and Achilles is the undisputed hero sooo thats that. It kinda makes no sense that he would bottom with all that.

Now, of course, one could argue that Patroclus was older (Erastes), but given the really small age difference they had, i think its been proven often enough that Patroclus is yess indeed older but not necessarily on top. The term Erastes has nothing to do with your position in bed. Even philosophers have been arguing about this for years.

2. Achilles as Patroclus protector (that man is sooo possessive wow)

Achilles is often portrayed as the one who protects Patroclus physically while Patroclus protects Achilles emotionally. Especially in The Song of Achilles but if we focus on the Iliad, he also grieves intensely when Patroclus dies and tries to keep him from any harm before that. He even wishes for everyone to die except for him and Patroclus so they could conquer Troy alone. Just the two of them. Achilles role as Patroclus prince, general and protector scream possessive top to me. He just wants his Patroclus all to himself and who can blame him for that?

3. Vibes and character traits

Alright so Patroclus is described as a gentle, empathetic, and as i said the emotional counterpart to Achilles. He is not the "typical fighter" (he does fight well dont come for me), but rather displays a great deal of warmth, for example, in his interactions with Briseis or the animals in the Iliad.

In the context of ancient greek roles that could be associated with being the bottom but getting away from that...lets be so fr Patroclus has the prettiest bubble butt in the camp. What a waste for Achilles not to appreciate it. I feel like many people just dont want Patroclus to bottom because it makes him look weak. I think Patroclus takes strength in the fact that Achilles is sooo addicted to him and cant keep his hands or eyes off of his body. Patroclus could control Achilles with his body alone and i mean what exactly speaks against Pat being a power bottom?

Now lets take a look at Achilles. Achilles is proud, stubborn, and controlling like think of his refusal to fight after the argument with Agamemnon. Achilles is a demi god with an ego bigger than greece okayy? In the Iliad he is all about portraying his strength and being praised for it. So why wouldnt he go absolutly feral when Patroclus tells him how good he is taking him right now? Achilles needs it and its a way to release all that build up anger inside of him hahahah. Thats why he lost all his chill after Pat died.

I am not against Achilles liking to be controlled by Patroclus. I mean he trusts noone like he trusts Pat. I just think Patroclus can have control as a bottom as well and Achilles can give up control best when he doesnt feel like his pride is being disrespected again.

Conclusion

In the ancient greek context it is pretty obvious that Achilles topped. Ultimately, it's your decision how you want to interpret and understand them. Both are multifaceted characters who can be perceived differently. Portraying Achilles as a bottom serves to contrast his otherwise strong and supernatural demeanor (cause lets be so real: Achilles in the Iliad was NOT a twink). I don't think this contrast is necessary in the relationship, though, because Achilles only softens for Patroclus anyway. It doesn't really have anything to do with top or bottom and Patroclus is not empowered just because he could top Achilles. Nevertheless, everyone can do and understand it however they want.

It kind of bleeds of the allegory of ignorance, in a way, to those who are more fortunate. Il-nam never surrendered. He had been proven wrong. This kind of matches up with those more fortunate people who ignore the issues of capitalism, because “if they don’t work for it then they deserve it” iykwim. The wealthy choose to blatantly ignore and deflect, rather than accept the system’s major flaws. It shows the rich being removed from the poor’s issues, being willfully blind to suffering.

The youngest Wayne, strolled through the graveyard that was set a light by the neutral tones that seeped out of the lampposts nearby. Y/N made this a weekly occurrence, she couldnt seem to push away the thought of her older brother not being here anymore, she couldnt come to terms with the fact that he was indeed gone.

She came to a stop at the grave she visited everytime she had a chance to. Jason Todd, a loving brother and son forever in our hearts and never to be forgotten, 1990-2012. Y/N had always admired her older brothers but more so Jason as they were the closest and had a similar persona, when she found out he died a year ago to this day she completely broke and nobody knew for sure if she could be fixed.

"Its been a year Jay, a whole goddamn fucking year." The girl dropped to her knees, reaching towards the ga stone to set a hand upon it. "I'm hurting Jaybird, everything hurts so much and I dont know how to stop the pain. I dont even think its curable, I'm broken, I've become a unrecognizable person." Her head dropped, tears seeped out of her eyes and dripped down the curve of her cheek, trailing down her neck. "Dick said I needed to speak to someone, maybe a therapist but I refused. Bruce- he's given up. Alfred's trying to keep us together but it's not working. We need you- I need you."

A buzzing echoed through the air as her phone started to vibrate in her pocket, she let out a heavy breath while reaching down to grasp it and see that Dick was calling. Her thumb swiped across the screen to accept the call before pulling it up to her ear.

"Y/N/N where are you?" His voice rumbled through the other end of the device, he sounded panicked yet calm at the same time.

"Dont worry Dick I'm not gonna do anything stupid okay I'm just doing a usual weekly round, I need space, I need you all to stop treating like I'm still a child and let me mourn in my own damn way. I can handle myself, maybe it doesnt seem like it but I'm still here arent I?" She let out a sob at the end, her hands shaking as she let out a laboured breath this time, closing her eyes in an attempt to calm herself.

"Y/N can you come back home, theres something really important we need to discuss..."

"What part of 'I need to be alone' dont you understand Richard?" She heard her brother sigh on before the sound of a few things being knocked over and then Bruce scolding someone in a hushed tone. "I'm going now."

"No, wait. Y/N!" She ended the call, placing her phone back in her pocket. Her head tilted back up to look at the grave infront of her, her thoughts ran wild in her head as she tried to figure what she could possibly say next. In reality she was speaking to nobody, there was nothing but silence but she felt a huge amount of relief lift from her when she 'spoke' to Jason.

Her eyes then narrowed in frustration, hands coming up to tug at her hair while more tears blurred her vision and suffocated the soft surface of her face. Small, audiable cries passed her lips in distress and sadness, her body shaking from her crying and the slight chill of the cool midnight air that flew within the atmosphere.

Y/N hated the feeling of loneliness. With Jason being gone that's exactly how she felt, sure she had her other brother but Jason was the one she confided in, he was her protector. He reassured her, he was her shoulder to cry on, he was her rock and without her rock she had nothing to go back to, to lean on when she needed comfort-

She pushed herself up to stand on her feet, looking down at the gravestone before spinning on her heel and speeding down the narrow paths. Her hands came up to pull the hood of her jacket over her head, trailing down to slip into her pockets that were the only source of heat to radiate through her hands to stop them from becoming numb on this cold night.

The cars whizzed passed on the Gotham roads, horns blaring and tires screeching as they sped by.

Y/N only ever came out at night, it was a time where she could set free from her mind- not fully but it was relieving while it lasted. She hated the silence that surrounded her daily, though she all but loved it at the same time. When it was silent she would drown in her own thoughts however if someone broke the silence they would ask the same questions and suggest what could help her.

A hand shout out from her left, hauling her into an alleyway. She yelped at the sudden force, her back cracked slightly when she was slammed into the brick wall behind her making a groan slip from her lips. Her deep blue orbs, that now seemed to be duller than ever peered up at the attacker- dressed in fully back and had a light grey mask covering their face.

"Y/N Wayne." Came a male voice, sounding quite sinister.

"Who's asking." She replied dryly, leaning back into the wall as the male tightens his grip on her shoulders.

"My boss. Your father seems to have upset him and he doesnt take things like that lightly sweetheart." The man pulled a gun from his back pocket, bringing it up to hover over her face, the cool metal sliding it up to the bridge of her nose to rest against her forehead.

"Do it. Kill me." Her words never faltered which surprised the man, her hand raised to grasp the gun and pull it further towards her head, eyes crossing as she peered up at the gun.

"Oh, who would have thought. The Y/N Wayne begging for death." The man teased, tilting his head to the side as dark eyes pierced her own through the holes in the mask.

"I've got nothing left to loose. I'm miserable. Do it, just pull the trigger. Do it!" She pushed forwards as the mans finger went to pull at the trigger, eyes screwing shut as a rush of anticipation ran through her veins as she waited for the quick way out of life. It never came.

Her eyes peeled open to see another person, a metallic looking red helmet hid his whole head, a brown leather jacket along with a black shirt and dark, tight fitted jeans and a pair of matted jet black combat boots. The new comer held the attacker up by his throat as he rithed under his grip, hands clutching onto the gloved hands that wrapped around his neck.

"You're so dead." The red masked vigilante grumbled out in anger, his hands tightened around the other males neck making breathing a hard task to do before the attacker slowly grew limp in his arms and was dropped to the ground.

"Who the hell are you?!" The girl whispered shouted, looking him up and down. Her eyes trailed to the man on the floor who lay unconscious- maybe, possibly dead. She fell back against the wall, hands by her side as she threw her head back and sighed.

"What do you think you were doing Y/N?!"

"How the fuck do you know my name?" She stood back to her full height eyeing the vigilante with a puffy red eyes from when she had been crying not so long ago. She watched as a gloved hand moved up and hooked under the metal helmet, tugging at it so it revealed a face. A very familiar one at that. "No. Please. Oh- no."

"Y/N/N I know this seems weird right now okay, let me explain." Jason spoke, holding his hands out to her as she shook her head repeatedly and whispered a bunch of 'No's' and 'this isn't real'.

"Your dead, yo-your supposed to be dead. I-I saw your body, I didnt make it in time." She sobbed out loudly, looking directly at the 'replica' of her older brother. Her brows furrowed and her lip wobbled as she continued to cry uncontrollably. "A year ago today, we found you dead!"

"I-I was resurrected months ago Y/N, I'm here. I'm real. I promise." Jason stepped forwards slowly, pulling the broken girl into his embrace. The sound of a motorcycle revving sounded in the background making the no longer dead Jason look over his shoulder to see Dick in his nightwing costume.

"Did you find her, please tell me you found her." Dicks voice echoed within the alley, breathing out a breath of relief when jason moved his form to reveal the crying girl. "Oh thank god."

A slap suddenly came to fill the secondary of silence along with a Yelp. One of Jason's hands flung up to cup his burning cheek while his eyes met with Y/N's fiery gaze, her hands set on her hips as she continued to sniffle, tears still venturing down her cheeks.

"Y-your telling me you've been alive for months?!"

"W-well yeah, I-" he tried to respond but was near to immediately cut off by his younger sister raising her hand and waving it around.

"I-I'm miserable. Broken even, for a whole fucking year I was and your telling me you have been alive for a few months. I saw your body Jason, I was the first to find you and I completely broke when I knew I could have done something to prevent your 'death'." Her voice became softer as she relived the memory, images flashed through her mind as she recalled what she had seen when she found him dead.

"Y/N I've told you millions of times it wasnt your fault. Nobody could have stopped it from happening." Dick stepped to stand beside Jason so both of them were infront of her, a small smile etched onto his lips when she rammed into him, wrapping her arms around his waist and buried her head in his chest.

"But what if I could have prevented it Dick?"

"Theres no way you could have sweetheart." Jason stated, running a hand through her messy locks that splayed upon her head wildly.

"I love you Jaybird, so much. I missed you." She turned around and attatched herself to Jason, jumped in his arms which made him laugh as he caught her and she wrapped around him like a koala bear.

"I missed you too, little bird."
