What do you think are Itadori and Junpei’s greatest personality strengths and weaknesses? Why? What do you love about their dynamic?

ANON!!!! I'm crying sobbing thank you for sending me this. Ah I feel a little bad for posting that vent(?) post about not being asked about itajun(once again, i think itafushi is super cute no hate multishipping and minding our own space in the fandom corner ftw).

BUT ITAJUN NOW AHAHAHA

I think Yuuji's is easier to narrow down since he's our protagonist!

Strengths:

JJK often shows Yuuji's kindness, empathy and desire to give everyone proper deaths even if saving everyone is a lofty, unrealistic goal but I love that despite this insistence, Yuuji sticks to it. That conviction is being changed from something wholly idealistic, almost like a hero, to something far simpler ( a cog in the machine), but I still think Yuuji deep down will always want to protect others no matter how battered he is, which is amazing.

His self-awareness! We all know he's not the sharpest tool in the shed but it's not really necessary. He's very aware of his own shortcomings and doesn't take it too seriously when he sees himself falling short, but uses these reflections to grow stronger, to learn more.

Weaknesses:

Is it bad if I say I don't think he has any? I just, cannot think of anything I think are genuine, detrimental flaws in Yuuji....maybe...

He's too selfless. He doesn't think about himself in any capacity to the point he never confronts the traumas he goes through. His grandpa's death affects him a LOT but we never see him properly mourn, Junpei's death still haunts him but he never talked about it with ANYONE (sad that the only person who knows the depth of that loss is Mahito), Shibuya arc and the guilt he feels from Sukuna's actions, his own paralyzing terror of his death. It's really heartbreaking to see.

He trusts too easily. Or he used to. In the manga he's stopped and is a lot more suspicious of strangers(and potentially even people he knows). It's sad but I guess this is the only place he could go after all the suffering.

Onto Junpei!

Strengths:

He's very open-minded. Mahito exploited Junpei's ability to give everyone a chance in order to manipulate him, but this trait is very good in exploring the world and learning more about oneself and others. He didn't enjoy Human Earthworm 2 but he still sat through it multiple times because he thought it had something good to offer. Even when he was mourning his mom & suspected Yuuji of being involved in killing her, he paused and heard him out. It was his downfall, but I think if he was shown more support and given the space to be sure of himself, this trait would have been a huge strength as sorcerer. Geto was trying to be very rigid in his morality, and it led to his downfall, so someone who's flexible and can adjust would last longer.

He's actually very kind and hopeful. It may not seem like it since his opening line is "if i had a button to kill everyone who hated me, I'd push it" and the school attack BUT. Even then, he tries to be indifferent to the cruelties the world has imposed upon him, and fails, because he just can't stomach the fact that other people are capable of inflicting the kind of cruelty he experienced. He can't fathom that his fellow humans can do this. Which, deep down, means he had hope for people to be better. But they failed him. If he had gone to Jujutsu Tech, I think him and Yuuji would have acted as a check-and-balance system for each other's morality and value of human life, and found a positive outlook together.

Weaknesses:

He can't make up his mind because he has zero confidence in himself. Which is fair, considering everything he went through. He keeps looking for validation from others instead of forming his own thing and sticking to it.

He detaches himself from others. Also fair because people have let him down all the time but it goes too far.

Them as a dynamic!!

AHHH! Okay I think Gege Akutami purposefully wrote them to be very compatible as friends(and for my reasons, boyfriends too hehe). This story arc had to have a HUGE impact on Yuuji. Junpei's death is so central to Yuuji's character arc, it's the first domino to fall in Yuuji realizing that he can't save everyone no matter how much he loves them, how much he wants to. But it also needed to be done in a very short time span.

What's the best way to do that?

Give Yuuji a dream and rip it right out of his hands.

So they fit into each other fast and strong. Yuuji can read Junpei like a book and accommodates to Junpei's needs (Yuuji getting rid of that teacher because he saw he was uncomfortable around him, sitting with Junpei at that riverside and being open with him).

Junpei wants to listen to what Yuuji has to say(which is a rarity in jujutsu tech, Nobara dismisses him ranting about Human Earthworm 4, Megumi's very closed off and takes a lot of time to come out of his shell).

The rest of the cast treat Yuuji likes he's an idiot, and when they do hold affection/positive regard for him, they never tell it to him so the story and environemnt feels very hostile. Junpei is treated with a lot of violence and hostility as well.

But when they meet, there's a breather to have fun. talk about silly things and just be teenagers.

Neither of them get the chance to just wind down and I think they gave each other the space to do that. Which is what I love about their dynamic. They bring out the best parts of each other. If they had a bit more time, they could have been so fun to watch interact. Despite their short time together, Yuuji still thinks of Junpei and has a lot of regrets over him.

I think they're the perfect example of "right person, wrong time." If they had met even a little earlier, things could've been different. They were each doomed the moment they met. The 'what-if' that the anime/manga presents is so good that it has me hooked even after 3 years ;_;.

PEARL OF ATLAS (Heart of Menagerie sequel) [preview]

ch. 1, “Thief from Thieves”

There were other, more pressing concerns, of course, but Weiss realized, collapsing into her seat and staring out at the crowded platform, that it was her first time on a train.

In Atlas, she’d always had her father’s airships to whisk her away from place to place. Well, granted she had the permission. Now, though, all of it, the etiquette, the approval (more often a lack thereof), that glittering birdcage of rules—it all seemed so unforgivably stupid. Like there’d never been a point to any of it. So, yes, it was her first time on a train. Her first time in Argus. Most surprising of all, her first time running away, though not, however, her first time telling a somewhat easy lie to her father’s face to do it.

She curled her hand around the cold, smooth object nestled deep in her coat pocket. It was her first official heist, too. And it wasn’t exactly petty theft.

Pyrrha’s long ponytail swung into view, and then the hint of a smile, quick and reassuring. “You should try to get some sleep on the way there,” she said, her knee softly knocking Weiss’s as she settled in the seat across from her. “Mistral is pretty far.”

Pyrrha was only looking out for her. She seemed to have taken up a bad habit of doing that. But Weiss couldn’t imagine being able to shut her eyes for a moment, not with something so precious—so dangerous—clinging to the palm of her hand. Not with the blur of unfamiliar faces around her.

Weiss sank into the oversized coat, the collar rising to her ears. “I’m not tired,” she mumbled, though admittedly, after the sleepless couple of days she’d had in Argus, she was starting to feel those first few tugs on her eyelids.

To be honest, Weiss still wasn’t quite sure what to make of her impromptu Mistralian guide. Slash bodyguard. Slash, she supposed, accomplice. Though they did make somewhat of a conspicuous pair—Pyrrha the hometown hero, Weiss the runaway heiress of the Schnee Dust Company. News like that traveled faster than smugglers’ airships, after all.

She counted herself lucky Pyrrha hadn’t dragged her off to the Atlesian base in Argus the moment she’d spied the Schnee family symbol on the inside of what Weiss had thought was her least eye-catching coat. The one she had on now was Pyrrha’s, almost comically too big on her. At least it was warm. It smelled like her, a firewood smell. It only made Weiss drowsier.

She tallied it silently, watching her companion out of the corner of her eye. That was five favors, more or less. A few days’ room and board, supplies, protection, an escort all the way to Mistral. And an ally—if that could really be counted on. All for next to nothing, or so Pyrrha claimed, that it was only her “duty as a huntress.” (Whatever that meant.) Weiss could pay her what was owed, but anyone else, huntress or not, would’ve seized on the opportunity right away to ship her back to Atlas, back to her father, for twenty times the reward.

So…Weiss thought she could be forgiven for her cynicism because, well, that wasn’t how the world worked, was it? Favors didn’t come freely. Everything had a price, even kindness. Or maybe it was especially kindness. But it wasn’t like she had a lot of options.

Soon, the glittering ocean and the city of Argus slipped completely behind them, and the cabin went dark as the train cut through the mountainside. Pyrrha’s eyes slid to hers in the dimness, the expression in them quietly curious, like she’d sensed she was being studied the entire time. For some reason, it made Weiss uneasy, being watched in return, being looked at in the closeness of the dark. She turned back to the window. The next moment, the mountain fell away, too, and only Anima’s steely winter landscape was left, stretching out toward the distant gray fringe of trees. Not exactly Mantle’s bitter tundra, but something about the scene reminded Weiss of it.

“I haven’t been home in a long time,” Pyrrha murmured, her voice almost startling in the quiet. “It feels…a little strange going back.”

Weiss chewed her lip. She wasn’t interested, exactly, but she felt the question leave her before she realized it was: “Why haven’t you?”

Pyrrha smiled. It wasn’t the open warmth Weiss had come to expect but something guarded, a little unreadable. Maybe Weiss was just slightly interested in that. “It’s so lonely in a big city like Mistral, don’t you think?” She leaned her chin into her hand. “Surrounded by people. Argus is quieter.”

Lonely… Weiss squeezed her rucksack to her chest. “I think I know what you mean.”

She thought about the view from the airship window when she was leaving Atlas, the Solitas Sea at night. Churning and endless, something completely unfathomable. The waves had gleamed under the moon like the shine of teeth from shadows.

She remembered looking out at that ocean and, despite all her best efforts, thinking about her father, his icebox of an office, the way he would tap his fingertips against his desk whenever he was annoyed. He used to sigh and lean back in his chair to look at her, used to rub his face with his hand like something pained him. You should be careful where you throw your sympathy, Weiss, he’d say. You know, the world just beneath you is crueler than you can imagine. Waiting to tear you apart. You understand? Here, he would lean forward again, stroke his pale mustache, his listless, beady eyes fixing to her. Like wolves.

Even someone like that, Weiss figured, her eyes returning to Pyrrha just for a moment before they slipped closed. Even someone who smiled gently at you could bare fangs when the time came. Weiss couldn’t quite remember the dream she had when she drifted off, but she recalled this, at least: her own ragged voice, the strange, wet pressure of teeth, powerful jaws closing shut around her throat. And then there was just silence.

By the time Weiss stirred awake again, the view outside the window was dark with dusk. “Sleep well?” Pyrrha folded her book over her thumb. “The train’s made a stop in Ajisai.”

Weiss lifted her head. She could feel the red mark the glass had left on her cheek. Actually, she could feel Pyrrha politely holding in a remark over it, as well. People pressed around each other down the aisle, milled around on the platform below.

“I slept fine. I guess.” She took a mug of something warm from Pyrrha—coffee, she realized, once she brought it to her nose. She pressed her palms around it. “Thanks. Um, and you? Did you sleep?”

Pyrrha set her book aside in the empty seat. Weiss was faintly surprised by its cover for a moment—fairytales. She had a vague memory of her mother reading stories like that to her once or twice as a child. That was a long time ago, of course, but the one she still remembered well was The Girl in the Tower. Which, admittedly, seemed a bit uninspired to her now.

“Hm…a little.”

“Is that the truth?”

Pyrrha paused and then chuckled, a little self-consciously. “Well, all things considered,”—she nodded her head to Weiss’s coat pocket, then up at the rifle hidden in the overhead—“I thought it best if there was someone to keep an eye out.”

Weiss frowned, dragging her knees up to her chest. She curled her hand around the vial in her pocket again. It’d become a small force of habit (or was it a nervous tick?) at some point without her realizing it. “That wasn’t necessary. You need your rest, too.”

“Oh, you don’t need to worry—”

“It’s not that I am,” she interrupted, drawing the heavy coat tighter around herself. “Worrying about you, I mean. You’re just no good to me exhausted.”

Pyrrha fell quiet, those shrewd eyes of hers, green as the jade you found all over Anima, softening for a reason Weiss couldn’t quite decipher. “Right,” she said. “I’ll try to get some hours in, then.”

Despite herself, Weiss squirmed slightly under that change in expression. “I can take care of myself just fine, you know.”

Well, in theory she could. Granted that fencing maneuvers were transferrable to, say, scrapes with Atlesian soldiers or Mistralian bounty hunters. Granted the gleaming rapier she’d stolen from her father’s study on her way out wasn’t just decoration, after all.

Pyrrha folded her arms, and for a moment, Weiss thought she’d make some remark, something doubtful—haven’t you lived your whole life being taken care of?

But then she nodded and murmured, “I can see that.”

if we’re talking newtmas itself as a ship in itself, outside of any other influence (and specifically in the movie version, which is generally what people are talking about), I think it’s a good ship. I would have to be the most unobservant motherfucker alive to not see what people see in it, and I am not, in fact, the most unobservant motherfucker alive. it’s a good dynamic with good chemistry and realistically I think if I’d started with the movies rather than the books, I would’ve gone all in for it.

however. I personally am incapable about talking about it in isolation.

I realize from that segue it sounds like I’m about to lead into some grand moral point, but mostly I just liked how dramatic it sounded. anyway. I feel like I need to start with a disclaimer that the easiest, simplest part of this is that you tend to get attached to your first ships in a fandom, as well as your initial feelings about the characters. obviously you can change your mind about any of those things, but it does stick with you. if we’re going to be kind and skip my internalized homophobia era (please be kind), I shipped thominho and nalby because that’s what was big at the time. I also just... did not like book thomas very much, so I wasn’t about to ship him with my favorite character.

(complete and utter tangent: it’s interesting to me that people read the books now and overwhelmingly see newtmas. I recognize that every time I start a sentence with “it’s interesting that” it automatically sounds shady, but i genuinely just love Analyzing. anyway some of it’s definitely people seeing the movie first or having fandom content as a first exposure even in passing, all of which are valid ways to engage, but I do kind of find it fascinating when people talk about book!newtmas as some massive presence because then... theoretically we all should’ve seen it pre-movies? the ship existed, usually among people who hardcore multishipped, but it wasn’t anything like it is today. not at all to say that reading it like that is invalid, it’s just interesting to me the way some people talk about that interpretation, rather than the interpretation itself)

anyway. with that all out of the way, i do have some actual issues with newtmas, although it really doesn’t have anything to do with the characters or the ship itself. these are things that surround the ship and affect my feelings about it, meaning that I never bought in despite, like I said, Seeing It. my main issue with it is how much the roles of other characters have been reduced to create the ship in its current form. I’ve talked at far too much length about the way minho was adapted and honestly will probably talk about it more, because that’s the big one to me (that post can be found here, for those who don’t keep up with every rant I’ve ever gone on for some reason). I will not go so far as to say that’s required reading to fully understand this post, but I would recommend it since I don’t want to just repeat myself. so much of newtmas being the major ship feels like it’s predicated on minho not being there and not having anywhere near as strong a relationship with thomas and newt as he did in the books, and that will never sit right with me.

newt’s relationship with alby is his other most significant dynamic outside thomas and minho, and i feel like it might be surprising to hear me say this, but i get why that one was reduced for the movie. there’s only so much time in the film, so you want to focus on the characters who are going to make it past the first one. I do have a problem here, but it has more to do with dashner and with some fandom bullshit. with dashner, i think the crank palace is the worst of it (I could’ve just stopped that sentence at “I think the crank palace is the worst” but whatever). since all my rants lead back to each other, I’ll link the relevant one here, but the general gist is that my biggest problem was that newt does not seem to have any more of a post-swipe past than thomas does despite theoretically having two more years of memories. given that fact, I don’t know about you, but I would kind of expect alby to be more of a presence in his consciousness. that’s true of pretty much any of the original gladers, but newt and alby are clearly very close in the first book, and again, alby saved his fucking life. he’s literally mentioned once. dashner prioritized the newt/thomas dynamic so much that newt seemingly had no meaningful relationships with anyone else. tcp isn’t immune to treating minho badly either; like I said in that post, it sounds like newt read the wikipedia page on minho. is any of this the fault of the ship itself? does this change anything that came before it? no, but the whole thing feels massively disingenuous, and also kind of disrespectful to people who actually, like, gave a shit about the other characters. also, the way he’s retconning makes me real nervous.

the other part, like I mentioned, is the fandom more than any of the actual content. I’m aware that part of this is just a statistics game and also that’s it’s not representative of all newtmas shippers, but most of the alby bashing I’ve seen comes from newtmas people. it’s... baffling to me, honestly. what’s the point in putting down a ship being kept alive by me and like 3 other people? what do you gain by misrepresenting a character to the point of maliciousness when you could easily just not engage with them? again, I know it’s not everyone and it doesn’t have anything to do with the ship, but I’d be lying if I said things like this don’t color my perception. if someone goes out of their way to put down a ship I like, I’m not really gonna want to associate myself with their ship. I’m gonna cling to my own harder out of spite, actually.

also.... okay. so I peaced out to go do other shit between earlyish 2015 and mid 2019. and it was very weird to temporarily leave the fandom while the two main (in my recollection at least, which could be biased by who i was friends with) mlm ships each included one of the explicitly non-white characters, and come back to find it almost entirely dominated by white boy/white boy... like. I don’t wanna make a statement as simple as “the fandom is racist” because a) it’s not my place to say that, b) if we want to go into that, there are other examples of fandom racism where it’s Blatant and there really is no excuse, whereas this is a bit more complicated imo because c) like. that’s the dynamic the movies gave us. the movies focused very heavily on the newt and thomas dynamic, so of course that’s what the fandom is going to focus on. there’s a lot to say there, but that’s a different issue. it does.... still contribute to the bad taste in my mouth, though, and also contributes to me feeling like I need to keep those ships alive. it’s not about who has the Most Progressive Ship, I just feel weird about the particular shift I’ve seen here.

on a note that sounds less like I’m leveling accusations, New Relationships just aren’t my vibe. you look at my ao3 and it’s like. friends of many years to lovers. established relationship. friends to lovers to exes and back again. just from a dynamics perspective, there are other ships that are more interesting for me to explore. there. this is a lighter reason.

idk overall I don’t wanna sound like I’m on some Moral Crusade here, even though i know some of my points made it sound like that. this is really just me putting all of my thoughts that I can currently round up in one place in order to... idk, explain myself? and like it’s stupid that i feel the need to explain myself, but I know it’s weird not to ship it at this point, and I know if I did I would have so much more content to choose from and a much wider audience for my own content. there’s just baggage there thats entirely separate from the ship itself, having seen the shift and knowing what had to change in order to center newtmas. I’m not trying to sound like I’m better than anyone; I just think maybe I have a different perspective on things having been here for long enough to qualify it as a new mental illness, and that’s ultimately why I feel the way I do.

There’s a lot to unpack here, but let’s just start off with don’t tell monster fuckers that they cannot fuck a monster, especially the original creature of the night. Almost every bit of lore about vampires from their inception involves some exchange of bodily fluids, which in and of itself doesn’t have to be sexual, but is certainly provocative when worded as ‘exchange of bodily fluids’. Almost every aspect about vampirism is a massive cultural taboo, from the drinking of blood to the straight up defiance of death. They have always been the monsters that most everyone would fuck, to the point that a successful (in terms of sales only) young adult novel series that broke the monster and yet still had teens and young adults around the world want to fuck them even more.

Thank god for R. Pats in trying to leave that part of his acting career behind and being just as put off about it as the rest of us.

Do you even need me to break down how bad this ‘advice’ is? Some people do nothing but try their hardest for new followers and still come up empty. And if the character they’re writing is the one they want to write, why should they change because of a lack of followers? Why switch to one that’s more popular when the unpopular and side characters need just as much love and attention as the popular and main characters?

The role play community at large tends to be on the fence about multishipping, but in all time in the RPC, they’ve been fairly chill about it. It’s only ever been called cheating if it had something to do with the plot, and typically at that point all parties were in on the gag.

Look, I care about the people I write with, I really do. So hearing this assclown say that polyamory and multishipping is akin to polygamy and cheating is some Q-Anon level shit that I thought was left behind a while ago. Don’t try and be a White Knight between consenting adults, especially about a shared hobby.

After a dive into the twitter account shows in their bio post that they are Anit-shipping, Anti-lewd, anti-sex, anti-violence, and anti-dark themes.

Not saying they hate fun, but...

Okay, maybe they are anti-fun. Cause look me in the eye and tell me that Hero’s and Villains having a fling is wrong. Bruce and Martha Wayne in an alternate DC Universe (Batman and Joker respectively in the Flashpoint timeline/universe) were still considered married. Try to tell me there wasn’t something going on there... At least until she died. 

There’s so many reasons Heroes and Villains could be together. One trying to redeem the other with their love and affection while the other is trying to corrupt and seduce them with theirs... It’s literally one of the oldest tricks in the book, win over your enemy by winning over their heart.

Look, I agree on the first point. You don’t need sex in a relationship. You can have a healthy relationship and still not have sex. You can also fuck more than bunnies and have a healthy relationship while walking around as naked as the day you were born. There's so many flawed characters. But like, Yen is so giddy when he finally says out loud that he loves her. She never pushes him to do it. She waits. Years. When he thinks it she acknowledges it. She validates she hears him but doesn't say it out loud back bc he isn't ready.

When they're apart and she finds out he's alive she knows he won't take help with some issues he's created for himself and she says he's too honorable but maybe the person who knows about it could get people to pay him enough to live on for once. Bc she knows he won't get enough for even a healer if he gets hurt.

His swords get stolen and auctioned and she buys them back without telling. She makes sure he gets them back and her messenger isn't supposed to say. (I don't remember if he figured it out or not tbh.)

She keeps tabs on him and lets him live his life when he's not with her.

She has boundaries which is healthy. He knows to leave some things alone. (she also has unhealthy bad things but this isn't a shit on Yen post it's a : why the fuck do you ppl refuse to give her any kind of chance ever?)

She finds out Istredd is a bastard and immediately drops him by fucking messenger bc she's over it that quickly. Like wow that's some shit you said, you're a fucker I'm out.

She can be capricious and cold and nasty. She can.

And the like, short stories really put her in a weird light outside of the one with Istredd in it imo.

But she looks at this broken man who just wants to be a man. And can't see that he is and she loves him and doesn't especially try to change him in any way. She lets him come to her. She doesn't chase him. Doesn't force things on him. (Except fancy clothes and no headband bc it's pretentious apparently)

A guy she saved from an ethnic cleansing is willing to pay Geralt's debts as a favor to her. And she doesn't do that bc it would hurt him.

She drops everything in her life to go get Ciri. Because he asks. Not because she's initially in it for any other reason. And takes on her training, and encourages her to keep up with her sword skills and runs. And while she is harsh and blunt she loves that girl like her own.

When he shares this wish he has with her, what he wishes their life was, he's ashamed and angry at himself. She adds on to it, tells him how beautiful it is. And then asks him to drop it bc she hates letting him down. They can't have that dream and it hurts her she can't give it to him. But she doesn't belittle him, she soothes his agitation and gives him reassurance.

She decides to stop hating Dandelion (who basically sexually harasses her and hopes she'll get hurt in front of him. Ogles her when she's almost raped and will not look away bc he's kind of a dick a lot of the time) because he chose to be Geralt's friend and stay with him and Yen knows how terrified Geralt is of being alone. (he is determined to get to Ciri bc he doesn't want her to be alone like he was). So she puts aside some truly awful shit to make peace with Dandelion bc she appreciates him being there for her ex. Like.

Can we just appreciate that while Geralt and Yen bring out bad sides of each other, they also bring out the good, too?

Like. :/ Can we stop acting like she's this one dimensional bitch with no good attributes? It's 2020.

I know it must’ve been hard. It was hard for me too, I won’t lie. I cried my eyes out, I stormed around, I couldn’t believe that Kishi was doing what he did.

But you know what? I’m not ashamed of that. Yes, we went through pain, but at the end of the day, being in pain, vulnerable and showing that it’s STRENGTH in itself!

I am at peace because no matter how much I stormed and bitched at Kishi, lol, I did it on my own lane and kept it on my own territories. 

I never wrote him letters to make NaruSaku canon, never wrote him letters of how much I hate Sakura and all the other shit he had to endure. No, I stayed in my lane, let the dude do his job and put the stamp on it at the end.

But I didn’t go out of my way to make sure he knows I WANT this or that.  Because it wasn’t my story. It was his. I wanted to listen to HIS story, not the ones others wanted.

The fact that he caved in, tells me a lot. But you know what? At the end of the day i’m at peace because it wasn’t the NaruSakus he was talking about in that interview with Kobayashi when mentioning the hate he received for Sakura. Nope, it was something else.

So at the end of the day, maybe we didn’t get canon like the others did, but it taught me a lesson. So what if we didn’t?

We didn’t ship NaruSaku because we wanted to WIN. Or else we wouldn’t have been here. We shipped NaruSaku because of what they represented. Because of what the story showed us. Because of the positive message it gave. Because of the love they showed throughout the series for each other.

That’s why! That’s why we’re still here. That’s why it taught me that canon status is overrated.

It’s like asking for validation. And you get that validation. Well, sorry, but I don’t need no one’s validation to ship NaruSaku. I know for my own thank you very much what NaruSaku brings to the table and WHY I ship it.

I’m even grateful it didn’t got to be canon! Imagine if they got the treatment the canon pairings get nowadays??

I mean, the canon pairings got such a shitty treatment with holes in their storytelling that even now, years later people STILL blame NaruSaku for it, when NaruSaku is OUT of the picture.

I mean, now that the common enemy is out of the picture they started to fight with each other.

I’ve seen SS fans abandon the ship, I’ve seen SS fans starting to multiship, I guess? Because now that NaruSaku’s aren’t around to defend Sakura, they had to face reality: that NH-ers will trash Sakura at every chance they get.

So now that the alliance is gone, they have to fight each other since we’re out of the picture.

This in turns makes the NH fans claim that SS fans are nothing more than NS fans in disguise, trying to put fights between them.

It speaks VOLUMES of the weakness of their alliance. When I used to tell them almost what, 10 years ago, that’s the only reason they team up, they were like noo, we genuinely like each other.

Uhum, that’s why you guys know fight continuously and to not admit this shit, you put it down on NaruSaku’s back. 

Even now, NS is the center of their alliance, one way or another, lol. They won’t admit it to themselves though.

Like, the logic is so broken... Why would we care about what they do, if we have our own things to deal with? We created our own alternate universes. Because that’s what love is, it’s creation. 

You feel the need to create! And that’s what we’re doing. 

I have my own AU that I’m planning for months, before, I had the NaruSaku zine with the other gang, now we have Shinachiku Kosen. 

Like?? If they’d only admit that to themselves that’d be great. For them, cuz we don’t care.

Yeah, the only thing I have to do is scroll further any time I come in contact with these things. And trust me, I do, cuz there’s NO way to avoid it, as much as I want.

But like I said, I’m so much more busy with doing nice creative stuff than bickering with these kind of people.

So that’s why I say it... all we gotta do is keep the love alive. Keep them alive! Through our art, stories, projects. We don’t need canon validation, because we know who we are! If we would’ve been to be insecure and not know our worth, maybe we would be looking other ways. But nah.

We very much know and we very much don’t care.

So don’t mention it. Just keep the flame alive and that’s all you need. Cheers, my dear!

A/N: i'm still trying to get the grasp of writing taz grad fic, but after episode 6 i couldn't not fic this. also my brain just keeps bouncing back and forth between loving fitzroy/argo and fitzroy/rainer so i guess i multiship now!!! reblogs are greatly appreciated!!!

(Fitzroy goes to Rainer's dorm to talk about his "new assignment" and instead realizes that he can't avoid talking about his feelings and fears any longer.)

Rainer’s dorm was charmingly her. It was in the space between messy and tidy; the floor was spotless and the bed made, but stacks of books and jewelry and papers (and maybe a small skeleton or two, though he was never actively looking for those) covered the surface of every desk and dresser. The door off to the side, which was to remain locked until Rainer chose her permanent hench, was covered in posters and drawings tactfully placed, and a lone calendar filled to the brim in a quill she charmed to write in whatever glittery color she desired.

Very charmingly her.

Fitzroy had rarely been here long enough to actually pay her decorum any mind. Most of the time they had alone was spent on the outskirts of campus, or in the minutes they had between classes; more often than not, them “hanging out” involved at least three other people venturing to a much more crowded place.  

Still, though, he couldn’t quite stop his feet from walking to her dorm. Rainer had no roommate, no hench, and, well… Hieronymous told him to keep his program change a secret, but when has he ever been able to keep a secret, anyway?

“I half expected you to already be at the tavern,” Rainer was saying, her back to him as she sorted through one of her notebooks (probably looking for the report she’d have to write on their field experience, or more so a report on how promising the kicks and henches seemed). “Maybe even bickering with Argo over who’s paying for drinks.”

She looked around the high-back of her chair and shot him a smile.

“Please, Rainer,” he said, hoping that his smirk and posture maintained his poise and not the thoughts that were racing through his head. “I’m enough of a gentleman to know to pay for my friends’ drinks.”

“I know you are,” Rainer said, softly, and Fitzroy was thankful that it was then that she turned back to her desk so she wouldn’t have to see the red rising in his face.

Of all he expected to find at Wiggenstaff, he didn’t expect Rainer.

Or, more so, of how much he expected to detest Wiggenstaff, he didn’t expect to find someone who gave him a reason to consider sticking around. He had Argo and the Firbolg, of course, and he appreciated his friends (perhaps even best friends, though Fitzroy hadn’t had any prior experience with that level of friendship), but what he had with Rainer was… different.

Which only made everything more complicated, because of course it did.

“I actually came here to talk to you,” he continued, looking up at the small lights she had hanging with the tapestry around her bed. 

Rainer snorted. “No, really? I thought you came to talk to Gary.”

Fitzroy rolled his eyes, barely trying to hold back a smile, and was about to make some witty quip about Rainer’s own when he was interrupted with a, “Hey! Rainer! See you’ve got guests up ‘ere!”

Both their eyes flashed to the now-animated gargoyle in the corner of Rainer’s room, and Fitzroy suddenly felt like he was trapped in a tank at the reminder that not only were the Garys listening, but also a hivemind . That shared information. Information that could be private.

“Yeah, Gary, it’s-”

“Is there a way that he could actually be turned off?” Fitzroy asked, thankful that his voice remained level. “Apologies for the interruption but this is, well-” He swallowed, forced a smile “-this is kind of important.”

Rainer, spinning around to face him, arched an eyebrow before, with a flick of her wrist, a small, nearly-translucent bubble formed around the Gary.

“Silence,” she explained. “My Gary isn’t a nark so it’s probably fine.”

“Perfect,” Fitzroy nodded, allowing himself a relaxed grin.

“And I’ll admit, Fitz-” and she tapped her fingers against the arm of her chair “-You’ve got me kinda nervous here.”

“Well, no, you see- it’s fine, really.”

“That’s a lot of filler words for fine.” Still, she smiled and cocked her head.

“A lot of filler words for great, actually!” Fitzroy assured, to her and himself. “I’ve actually moved up in the so-called hierarchy here! Our dear Headmaster wants to put me into the hero-villain tract!”

Rainer’s glee was almost enough to make Fitzroy think that perhaps this wasn’t the complete end of everything. “Fitz, that’s amazing!” she exclaimed, moving her chair closer in so that she could tightly grab his hands. “We can all have classes together! You and me and Buck and Rolandus and his crew—don’t worry, they’re really all super nice—it’ll be so much fun!” She then furrowed her brows, suddenly serious, and, if possible, she squeezed his hands tighter. “What about Bud and Argo, though? Where are they going?”

“Oh, they’ll be fine,” he said, smiling. “They’ll be coming with me! As my- well, we all have to talk soon, but I assume they’ll be by my side.”

“Oh, like sidekicks!”

Fitzroy then sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth, grimacing. “And that , my dear, is when things start to get a little complicated.”

“What do you mean?” Rainer asked, frowning. “Don’t tell me- they’re not leaving, are-”

“Oh, no!” Fitzroy shook his head quickly. “No, not at all. They’ll be coming with me, but as… Well, you see, when good ole’ Hieronymous bumped me up, he didn’t… bump me up to being a hero.”

“Oh, so you’re a villain!”

Fitzroy was proud of himself for holding back a flinch. “Apparently so.”

“Oh, Fitz! That’s so cool! It’s honestly really fun. A lot of the professors are actually super cool, which is nice because some of the content , oh boy, and-”

Fitzroy worried his bottom lip, trying to hold back the nerves and… aggravation that bubbled up in him. “But-” he interrupted “-but do you see the… issue… here?”

Rainer paused, studying him for a moment. “No?” she finally responded, equal parts confused and suspicious.

“This promotion? Great, wonderful! A villain? Not so good.”

“And… why?”

He raised an eyebrow. “Because I’m not one of the bad guys?”

Rainer froze for a moment and, while she gaped at him and then over at the stacks of textbooks and notebooks, it was then that Fitzroy realized that, perhaps, he fucked up. 

Dropping his hands right back into his lap, she huffed and moved herself back. “Wow, Fitz, super cool.”

“Rainer, wait,” he sighed. “That’s not what I meant.”

“Then what did you mean?” She asked, annoyance coloring her own voice. “Because, honestly, if you think I’m a bad guy-”

“No, it’s-” Fitzroy found himself fumbling for words as his eyes darted around Rainer’s dorm to focus on anything but the scowl on her face “-it’s not that.”

“Then what?”

“It’s just-” An exasperated sigh left him again and, in resignation, he threw his hands up “-the villains are the ones we fight against!”

She narrowed her eyes. “Who’s we? ”

“The Maplecourts!” he exclaimed. Once, simply stating the family name would make one think of knighthood. “We’re- we’re a long line of knights who are trained to fight evil and that is what I am meant to do!”

“Okay.” Rainer pinched the bridge of her nose, shutting her eyes tight. “You know equating villains with evil is pretty archaic, right? Like, there are heroes who are capital-E evil who just, I don’t know, fudged the budget, and then there are heroes who are capital-E evil because they actually did some really bad stuff. Like, I know that you know that.”

His head fell back as he huffed again. “You’re not getting it.”

“No, I’m really not!”

Looking back down at her, he shook his head. “I can’t be a villain!”

“Why? Villains aren’t automatically bad people!”

“I know! It’s just- the Maplecourts- we’re knights! ”

It was Rainer’s own turn now to throw her hands up. “You can still be a knight!”

“But not really! ” He snapped, his temper beginning to creep through as he struggled to restrain his volume.

“Why, Fitzroy? Why?”

“Because- because everyone expects me to be a knight so that’s what I need to do and-”

“Enough about everyone else!” Rainer snapped back. “I don’t care about everyone else! Only you! So, what do you think, Fitzroy? Why is this an issue for you? ”

“I’m terrified that this is all a mistake!” Fitzroy finally rushed out, unable to find it in him to care that he was near shouting. “I’m terrified that my time here is just derailing the future that I’m supposed to be taking! And- And this place isn’t the worst, okay? Argo and the Firbolg are my best friends and I love you but I am also so scared that I’m going to get out of here and there’s going to be nothing left for me! My family isn’t going to want a villain, Clyde’s Knight School isn’t going to want a knight who fought against the good that they strive to maintain, and- honestly, it felt like this school didn’t want me either! I just don’t want to keep going from nothing to nothing while everyone else gets to have the lives they all fucking hoped and dreamed for!”

Fitzroy, his breathing almost as shaky as his hands, looked pointedly away from Rainer. He blinked quickly, trying not to pay too much attention to how his eyes burned and, instead, tried to take down his anger—at Rainer for seeing through him, at himself for letting his temper burst out—before his magic decided to go wild. 

He could already feel it thrumming through his veins, hot and chaotic, and the last thing he wanted was to destroy anything else.

He really didn’t like fighting with Rainer.

Suddenly exhausted, with every bone in his body weighing a ton, he let his head drop in his hands and roughly pressed his thumbs into his temples.

“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice much quieter now. “It’s just-”

He was interrupted by a hand rubbing gentle circles on his back, and he looked up to find Rainer sitting next to him. Quickly, he ducked his head back down. Rainer didn’t deserve to see him like this: a small, scared animal lashing out in a final act of defense.

“I’m sorry,” he repeated, quiet and, in his knightly opinion, pathetically fragile.

“It’s okay to be scared,” Rainer said, her hand finding its place of rest on his shoulder. “It’s okay to feel lost, even. But also… don’t run away from opportunities just because they scare you. That’s not you.”

He let out a weak laugh and finally picked his head up, flashing her whatever he could muster of a smile. “It’s pathetic though, isn’t it? I’m trained to be at the front-line in battle and I’m- I’m losing my cool because of academics .”

“Don’t just dismiss yourself like that,” she sighed. “It’s not pathetic, and obviously you’re upset over more than just some classes.”

“I just…” He released a breath, shoulders sagging. “Not to be incredibly dramatic, but it feels like my life keeps falling to pieces.”

“And I wish there was something I could do.”

He smiled slightly and rested a hand on her knee. “You don’t have to go through that trouble for me.”

“Maybe not.” Rainer shrugged. “But I want to.”

Fitzroy swallowed around the sudden lump in his throat.

“I think… I think you’re going to be okay,” Rainer continued. “I think things are going to be normal again, and I think you’re gonna like the new program-” Her voice then quieted “-Plus, being a villain isn’t so bad.”

The heat of shame rushed to his face and, trying to find the right thing to say to make up for that , he shook his head.

“I shouldn’t have said any of that to you,” he whispered.

Rainer shrugged with a half-hearted smile. “It’s okay.”

“No-” Fitzroy shook his head again, taking her hands “-it really isn’t.”

Rainer looked away for a moment, worrying her bottom lip. “I… well, okay, yeah, the whole villain comment hurt, but it’s- it’s fine.”

“But it really, really wasn’t okay,” he said, catching Rainer’s eye. “That was a major asshole move of me. You… you are nowhere near a bad person, Rainer. Not only are you a great person, a good person, you… you’re one of the best.” She smiled, a true one this time, and Fitzroy gently cupped her cheek. “It was unfair of me to… to generalize and take my frustrations out on you. And I- I really am sorry.”

“It’s okay, really,” Rainer said, placing her hand over his. “You’re forgiven.” 

“Thank you,” he said quietly.

A smirk dashed across her face. “You just might have to retake a class or two on chivalry.”

He gave her a smile. “A small price to pay.” 

Rainer’s smirk turned into a smile as well and, for just a moment, she studied him. “Are you going to be happy here, Fitzroy?”

He faltered.

If he had been asked that at orientation, the answer would have been short and simple: absolutely not. Happy? At Wiggenstaff’s when he was just attending Clyde Nite’s Night Knight School? How could he be?

Now, though, the answer wasn’t so easy.

“I want to be,” he finally said, sighing. “And, push comes to shove, I really do like it here. I have you, and I have our friends. It’s just… I want to be happy. But-” he scratched the back of his neck “-I think it’s obvious I have some stuff I need to work on. Nothing the school can fix… Honestly, I should be grateful to have this offer. It’s just… me-stuff, you know?”

Rainer nodded. “And we’ll be here to help you out. We all want you here, love you being here. I love you, Fitz. And I think you should take this opportunity. I know it’s not what you expected, but it can still get you a foot in the door. And… I’m not gonna pry, and I don’t know what I can do to help with all the family stuff and the Clyde’s Knight school stuff but… I think they would all just want you to be happy. Want you to do what you want to do. And if that’s being a knight, great! But if you end up doing something else and loving it? Then they should love that for you.” She then leaned forward and kissed his cheek. “And… if anything, we’re your family, too. And we’ve got your back.”

Fitzroy smiled, and found himself very lucky to have Rainer in his corner. “I love you, too,” he said. “And I’ll do better next time at… actually talking instead of skirting around it.”

Rainer smiled, too. “I think you’ll be okay.”

“I’ll do it for you,” he said before leaning in and giving her a kiss. His hand rested gently at her hip, one of hers ghosting over the back of his neck and, when they pulled apart, he smiled. “You and a good grade, of course. As a villain, I probably have to do a lot of talking, right? Gotta freshen up on my monologuing.”

Rainer rolled her eyes with a laugh. “ So much monologuing. And you gotta do it with a hero, too. Buck’s the worst to do it with. He’ll do a monologue while you’re monologuing to try to out-monologue your monologue.”

“Well, I’ll just have to talk really loud, I guess,” he said, laughing, too.

“I think you’ll do fine.” Rainer smiled. “I think you’ll do good. Do well … and some good, too.”

Fitzroy took her hands back in his own. “Not as good as you.”

“Who would’ve known that you were such a sap?”

“Don’t tell anyone,” he said with a wink. “I have a reputation.”

Rainer smirked. “You once lost an arm-wrestling contest with a hologram.”

He scoffed. “That was supposed to be a secret .”

“That you told everyone!” Rainer laughed before leaning forward and kissing him again. “But I can actually keep a secret, so you’re fine.”

“Your confidence is greatly appreciated,” he said, “Oh, and! I was not supposed to tell anyone that I’m a villain now, either, so keep this on the DL as well.”

“Fitz!”

“But hey! Now that we’re gonna have classes together, we can pass fun, secret notes to each other! Dish the goss and share secrets!”

“We already do that!”

“Yeah but now we can be super sneaky about it!”

Rainer, shoving his shoulder, laughed. “I swear, if you make my GPA drop-”

“I would never!”

“I already have to deal with Buck trying to talk to me all the time! And sometimes Rolandus, too, when he’s feeling particularly fight-y… with Buck. So-” She jutted a finger at him “-I have my eye on you, Maplecourt.”

He winked at her. “I know you do.”

Rainer stared at him, shaking her head, though she was only able to hold off a smile for so long. “You’re ridiculous.”

“Love you, too,” Fitzroy said, pressing a kiss to her forehead before standing. “Well, I guess I have some roommates I need to, ah, break this news to.”

“Good luck,” she said, smiling up at him. 

“Much appreciated,” he said. 

With his hand on the doorknob, he gave Rainer one final smile over his shoulder. “See you around, my lovely partner in crime.” 

Rainer grinned. “Try not to get into too much trouble,” she said, shooting him a wink.

“I’ll try my best,” he said with a soft laugh before stepping out of her dorm.

Finrod: charming slutty blond twink with a heart of gold. maybe that’s too much fanon and not enough canon but you can tear that characterization from my cold dead hands tbh. like yes this is King “I Killed A Werewolf With Nothing But My Teeth And The Power Of Love” but he’s also Prince “I Rap Battled With Sauron And Lost” and Lord “I Befriended Men and Dwarves Before It Was Cool”

Angrod: of all his siblings i think he’s the most… Angry Boy. he has a temper, but he’s also married with a kid (I subscribe to the Orodreth Angrodion version of canon). i think he’s the ‘oh my god why can’t any of you be NORMAL’ brother. BOTH his mother name and his father name are derived from the word for ‘iron’ - he’s got an iron personality, very strong-willed and stubborn. i also hc that he’s the only arafinwean who has Earwen’s silver hair.

Aegnor: a hopeless romantic. the dreamiest arafinwion (and that’s including artanis!). very particular about his hair (which is a WILD canon detail that i love sjdfhdk) but also has terrible fashion. his head’s always in the clouds, he’s a daydreamer, but he’s also incredibly loyal and a really good friend. he almost always listens to his heart over his head - and the fact that he and andreth never marry is the One Time he listened to logic over emotion, and that haunts him forever.

Galadriel: almost as much of a genius as Feanor and almost as humble about it, which is to say, not at all. she’s proud and stubborn and full of herself, especially in her youth - she’s also gorgeous and smart and right a lot of the time, which doesn’t help her ego. by the time she’s become Lady of Lothlorien she’s been through a lot and is much more humble and wise, but i think that comes not just from her experiences but also from being married to Celeborn the Wise. i think he balances her out very well tbh. (my favorite Galadriel characterization EVER is from this fic by @nerdanelparmandil, check it out!!)

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Finrod: I ship Finrod with anything that moves tbh….. I see him as super super gay, he and Amarie were mutual beards which is why she didn’t follow him to Endore. i am a Known Slut for Finrod/Turgon in particular, they’re kind of endgame for me, but also @raisingcain-onceagain​ has converted me to Finrod/Edrahil!! And while the Nargothrond Disaster Trio are in no way shape or form HEALTHY, i really really enjoy Celegorm/Curufin/Finrod content, that dynamic is delicious. i can also get down on Maedhros/Fingon/Finrod, though not really in a serious way. PLUS Finrod/Beor is very good, as is Finrod/Barahir and Finrod/Beren(/Luthien if we’re feeling spicy), and you KNOW he got busy with some dwarves! I just think he’s very free with his feelings and desires, especially after coming to Beleriand, and he takes full advantage of his freedom and position of authority to get what he wants. (not necessarily in a weird power dynamics way, though he’s into that kind of kinky shit too probably, i mean more in ‘it’s my kingdom i get to make the rules and i say No Homophobia and No Slutshaming’) - and I’m super happy to multiship with Finrod, there are verses where he’s fucking everyone and verses where he’s pining over Turgon and verses where he never even thinks about anyone other than Edrahil and etc etc etc. there’s probably even verses where he and Sauron get up to some funky shit!

Angrod: I don’t have a lot of headcanons about him and Eldalote. She has a Sindarin name, so maybe she came with him to Middle-earth - or maybe not, and he just missed her so much that he wouldn’t shut up about her and so her name was Sindarized to Edhellos. Either way I think they had a very strong relationship that ended in tragedy one way or another. I’ve also seen some fun Angrod/Caranthir enemies-to-lovers stuff, which I can get into, but I think Caranthir is aro so it’s not really my main hc.

Aegnor: i mean how can you NOT ship him and Andreth??? that relationship is just….so tragic and heartbreaking and beautiful. I like the theory that Gil-galad was their child, and he was given to Orodreth to raise because Andreth couldn’t care for an elfling and Aegnor couldn’t publicly claim a son out of wedlock. But also verses where they are just tragically pining after one another are beautiful in their own way. My headcanon is that the thing keeping them apart was less about the war going on and more about Aegnor fearing to lose her - but then he actually dies before her, and Andreth has to live with that pain. Galadriel: Meladriel is very good and I enjoy that - I’ve also seen some great Galadriel/Luthien and even a Galadriel/Feanor fic I enjoyed. BUT overall i really love that she chose to marry Celeborn, a wise “dark elf” even when she’s completely out of his league - he balances her very well, and I don’t buy depictions of her walking all over him. she cares about him and he’s really good for her!

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Finrod: I ship Finrod/Turgon but also WHAT a great friendship they have!! I love that they go adventuring together :) And Finrod, Maedhros, and Fingon are so fun to imagine growing up together! Plus there’s his relationship with his nephew Orodreth, who he clearly adores, and also the fact that he’s still buddies with the Feanorians even after the first kinslaying (at Alqualonde! his home! where his mom is from!) and he’s so excited to meet new people from the Sindar to the Edain to the Dwarves. Finrod’s just EVERYONE’S friend and i appreciate that!!

Angrod: ….what if he and Caranthir used to be really close, like they are similar ages and grew up together, but then Something Happened and they started hating each other later on. that would be Very fun. also, he and Aegnor were lords together over the same land and died together, which implies they were very close - close like Celegorm and Curufin!

Aegnor: Again, he and Angrod were Best Bros which is great. I also think he’s probably beloved by Andreth’s people, he’s just this huge elf man they all kind of adopted and he’s so honored that they love him so much!

Galadriel: Melian!! obviously!! she stayed in Doriath specifically to learn from her, which is super neat. and then Gandalf in the later ages, i love whatever they have going on in the movies especially. i also think she and Celebrimbor had a weird rival-friendship i the second age, they’re both geniuses but from opposite sides of the family feud…except the family feud has killed pretty much everyone BUT them, so they come together to mourn that.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Finrod: i’m sure he did his best but….when he was king of nargothrond he was still gallivanting all over the place. orodreth was probably More In Charge from before he was officially king…

Angrod: he’s a grade-A asshole. just a dick. mean as shit and holds grudges forever. really annoying to be around.

Aegnor: a dumbass. always listens to his heart and gets in trouble for it, until the one time he listens to his head and regrets it forever.

Galadriel: would make an EXCELLENT villain. ‘all shall love me and despair’ ? come on yall. if it had been HER versus sauron instead of Finrod (and…considering she was probably friends with Luthien, it very well could have been) i think she may have won, and im just imagining Sauron working for her, and the second and third ages going very differently with her being a Queen who everyone loves until they look back and realize she’s been corrupted and turned evil.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Love letter to the BNHA fandom

I don't know if it is my place to speak. I am new to the fandom and I might have been lucky enough to avoid the most toxic interactions.

It breaks my heart to see the fandom so harsh towards itself though, because I have literally never seen a fandom like this. In a good way. Maybe I stumbled upon bad communities in the past, I don't know, but I've never seen a fandom so welcoming, able to debate and analyze in a healthy way, and so open towards ships (I didn't even know the term multishipper was a thing).

TW : Discourse. I feel like the read more is mostly positive, but I do mention debates, ships, toxicity and analyses. Let me know if I forgot something and I will add it!

Anime-only and manga readers walk side by side. The fandom never made me feel like a fraud for not reading the manga, or not reading vigilantes, or not knowing light novels existed until today. I've never been called a fake fan because of that. Anime-only and manga readers are able to have actual discussions, able to exchange with each other, and share their love for certain characters. Not only that, but regarding the anime, most people don't even look down upon the dub either. This is astounding! The movies and the OVAs receive actual praises, people are genuinely excited about the announcement of the new movie... This is incredible and I sincerely believe this fandom to be welcoming and positive in their approach of new content.

The analyses you can find in this fandom are insanely detailed. When something is wrong, people mention why. They take the time to say why this specific point is invalid, but also that they agree with other parts of the analysis. Even opinions that turn into debate are elaborated with moments from the anime/manga, proofs to back them up whether it is to spread love for a character or mention why you dislike someone. These exchanges are important. It gives you a new perspective on some parts of the story, it makes you see characters in a new light… and people are usually very respectful when they disagree. I've almost never seen someone disagreeing without first stating "I think", "I feel", "I'm not sure", making it clear that /they/ see things differently. That their experiences or values brings them to have a different opinion. This is huge. This is rare, healthy, and this community can be proud of its thoughtfulness and its ability to open discussion.

Ships. This is the most touchy part, ships are usually a pretty heated topic in almost any fandom. I know some ships are called names, even toxic, I'm not that delusional, but there are a lot of things that this fandom does right. I’ve seen actual discussions on both sides of a ship, with full-length analyses of why a ship would work or why it wouldn't. I’ve also seen both sides agreeing on certain aspects : “Of course, this would need to happen for the ship to work”/”But yes this aspect of the ship is very interesting”. It blows my mind everytime. It’s amazing, and rare, and precious. I know some people might disagree with this part because they feel like they shouldn't have to defend their ship or to say why some of them wouldn't work, and I respect that. I know I have a bias there because I love to discuss ship and analyze character dynamics. I still think there are very positive points to how the fandom approaches ships. Like the number of people who understand the reasons behind a ship, even if they don't like it (I feel like it's not the same as defending a ship through analysis, because you can stop at "I don't like X, but I understand what people see in it." - then again, biased in favor of debates and analysis), or how widespread and accepted the concept of multishipping is. Coming back to the first point, I've never seen anyone in the fandom calling someone a fake fan for being a multishipper.

Of course, I should have added a “mostly” to all of these points. The fandom is not perfect. These positive aspects won't make hate anon disappear, ship wars are still a thing, harsh words and name calling can happen, but I do not think the situation is worse than other fandoms.

A lot of good and bad things can come from being the fandom of a popular serie, and BNHA is huge, but considering how large the audience is, I think this fandom is doing pretty damn good.

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.

Hmmm, there are a few ways of answering this. One is by listing all my NOTPs, which would be excessively long and ultimately boring because it essentially boils down to “anyone else with either member of my OTP.” I monoship my primary pairings, so I’m pretty strict on what I do and do not like. 

(With the way fandom is now, I should clarify that NOTP means that I personally do not like a ship and I therefore go out of my way to avoid it - by muting terms, carefully filtering tags and search results, curating my own space, etc. It doesn’t mean I think the ship is badwrong or that anyone else should stop shipping it. It just means I do not ever want to see it.)

This feels a little less specific on that front, though, maybe more just: people like this and I’m meh about it?

So Allydia comes to mind. I don’t hate it, and if the Sterek’s good enough I’ll still read a fic with them as a background pairing, but I don’t ever like it as a romantic ship. While I ship Lydia with lots of different characters, including Cora, I’ve always seen Allison as straight, so I suppose that’s part of it? And I love Lydia & Allison as bffs - I see them as entirely platonic, like Scott & Stiles, so introducing romance just doesn’t work for me.

Another one is Sheriff Stilinski/Peter Hale. I...I don’t understand it. Unlike the last answer, this background pairing will prevent me from reading a Sterek-central fic.

I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?

This turned into a complicated and kind of roundabout answer, so I’m putting the rest of the questions under a long-post cut!

I stopped frequenting tumblr for two main reasons:

that whole weird purge thing that made me think everyone was leaving, so I just gave up, which might’ve been premature cause it seems like folks are still going strong on here

the emergence of antis, specifically within the Voltron fandom (although they’re everywhere at this point)

There’s a saying in fandom now: 

“Why is the younger fandom generation like this?!??” “Tumblr raised them.”

For me, for years, tumblr was a really wonderful space where I had a lot of great conversations and read very thoughtful threads that helped me to learn some important things about myself, other people, and a world much wider than my own.

But I was an adult when I joined this site, and it really does seem like there’s a whole new crop of kids who have no actual context for ideas like social justice, the need for canonical representation in our media, and a lot of other things that eventually got folded into a big ball of disconnected rhetoric that they now fling as hard as they can at the heads of fandom creators who are committing the ultimate sin of creating content for ships they don’t like.

It’s late, and I don’t feel like getting into a whole Essay Rant about all that.

So on an entirely personal level, I quit running appreciatejack (my Check Please/zimbits/Jack Zimmermann blog) because someone sent me really vile hate for daring to ship Shiro/Keith from Voltron (two unrelated adults in a cartoon). It’s why I turned my ask boxes/anon/chats off on most of my blogs, and then eventually just...got tired of running them.

When I started up appreciatederek, I got a couple asks from people who wanted to know if it was going to be multiship or just Sterek, and when I said it was Sterek, they presumably went off to find other things they were into, because I never heard from them again. Y’know, the reasonable reaction. And then the rest of it was wonderful: finding content for it, and getting responses from people who enjoyed that content.

I thought appreciateshiro would be similar, but it was all so messy from the very start. The Sheith tag was FULL of hate. I was initially checking it every day, trying to find artists and writers and gif-makers to reblog and encourage and support, like I’d done in Sterek fandom, but instead I’d spend literal hours blocking people who came into that tag just to talk about how much they hated the ship.

Every day, I’d look for content for my OTP, and every day I’d come away from it angry and sad and frustrated. I never seemed to run out of people to block. And they never, ever seemed to run out of hate.

It was exhausting. It made me reluctant to go on tumblr at all. And eventually I just...sorta stopped.

So the answer to this question is more, I guess, “fandom made me stop liking tumblr, and in the process I stopped liking most fandoms.”

I’m sure you can kinda tell from the fandoms I’m currently the most invested in.

I love Sterek, and I will always love Sterek. Part of that’s the ship itself, of course, and part is because I had an incredible fandom experience with it. People within this fandom are still really great - always so welcoming and super excited about new content, even so many years on.

Otherwise, my current fandoms are kiiiiinda tiny:

Xanatowen (Gargoyles), which currently consists of exactly 2 people and 12 fics (3 of which are mine).

Trevorcard (Castlevania), which only has ~200 fics on AO3.

Taibani (Tiger & Bunny), which is an oldish fandom with only ~600 fics on AO3.

Remember, I came from a fandom that has SIXTY THOUSAND fics.

So while I feel very lonely and very sad about the low content levels in these fandoms, they’ve also given me the space to let go of some of my fandom hurt & anger and remember what it’s like to just...peacefully love something. I really miss just loving things and talking about loving those things and searching for other people who also love those things without running into....thousands upon thousands of people who HATE that you love that thing.

(Until I wrote all that out just now, I actually hadn’t realized how much this had still been hanging over me, or why I was so hesitant to come back to “reclaim” a space I’d once been super active and happy in. Essay over! Next questions.)

Found family. This is probably a big part of why Sterek was my first real fandom, because the idea of Pack makes it incredibly natural to build out relationships beyond just the central romantic pairing. 

It doesn’t have to be a werewolf thing, though. I’m honestly not hugely fond of the whole puppy piles concept - I’m less interested in “biological urges make characters literally physically all snuggle up together in bed” than I am in the actual build of the friendships, and the concept of choosing people who will become the family you’ve been missing for whatever reason.

Maybe it’s reconnecting with biological family, or maybe it’s discovering that your friends have been filling that space for you all along, without you even fully realizing it. (The concept of “home” is another big one for me. Home is where your heart is etc etc.)

And hey! Now I can pull back in another question from earlier: about “pairings” that I might not have initially considered. As I suspected, I do have more! Mostly platonic.

For instance: Derek and Sheriff Stilinski becoming bffs. I thiiiink I can probably tie my ABSOLUTE LOVE of this concept back to HalfFizzbin’s can't be hateful, gotta be grateful. And then Cupboard Love really has to be the source of ALL my alive!Hales feels, which also includes folding Stiles into their family.

Fic is largely responsible for building out Derek’s relationship with Boyd, Erica, Isaac, his sisters...making them into an actual pack and friends and family in the way the show never bothered. And frankly while I don’t like canon!Scott at all at this point, I love his friendship with Stiles in fics, and I absolutely believe Stiles and Lydia would be amazing friends once he got past his crush on her. I’d point to another fic here, owlpostagain’s will to follow through, as the ultimate source for major Team Human feels.

So yeah. I’m always going to be drawn to stories about family, in whatever form that takes, particularly if it’s one that’s a little bit off the normal white-picket-fence path.

In Tiger & Bunny, it’s Barnaby joining the Kaburagi family, and learning how to be a dad and a friend to his new husband’s daughter.

In Gargoyles, I’m completely obsessed with the (canonical!) idea of a family that consists of a man, his wife, their son, and the chaotically loyal fae babysitter/tutor/third parent. It is not a stretch to tweak this the tiiiiiiniest bit to turn it into a nontraditional family structure of a man, his wife, his son, and his fae boyfriend. Honestly.

In Castlevania, the fic that made me sob my eyes out at one point does something the show would absolutely never. It gives Alucard the time to rebuild his physical home while befriending the people in the little town that crops up around it. It’s about Trevor and Alucard falling in love, but it’s also about them making a place for themselves in a world where that kind of comfort and stability and friendship is so badly needed.

I think we all kinda need that in our world right now. So I love being able to find it in fic, for the characters who’ve grown to mean something to me.

WHAT     IS     YOUR     OTP     FOR     YOUR     CHARACTER?: Canon OTP is the trio from Inside Eden’s Gate in a platonic way. Found family is my JAM and I’m convinced Hannah, Sara and Alex are the OT3 of platonic goodness. So that’s my favorite! For Alex non-canon I haven’t had an OTP with him necessarily. I think the only one was with @sanctemony​ and that is a lot of messed up but super fun to write and I love Fox with all my heart so there is that. Damn that OOC bias.

WHAT     ARE     YOU     WILLING     TO     WRITE     WHEN     IT     COMES     TO     SHIPPING?: I’m open to anything except for ships with underage muses/muns. This typically falls in the category of 21 and under for me, and Alex is 23. As a character Alex is more interested in people at his age or older rather than younger. With that said I really like ships with interesting dynamics to them that have underlying tension to explore. As of late I’d be very down for some wholesome content. Quarantine got me cravin’ the simple things. 

HOW     LARGE     DOES     THE     AGE     GAP     HAVE     TO     BE     TO     MAKE     IT     UNCOMFORTABLE?: Wellllllllll. I mean. stares at @walridiing​ . I think Miles and Alex are the biggest age gap relationship I have here. Which is ~10 years. The only reason is because of my writing chemistry with Moss and our history of knowing one another and the way the characters ended up working together, I think to both our surprise. I’m not extremely picky when there are consenting adults, the ship has been discussed and there is an understanding between writers. I’ll never write underage Alex with anyone, or him with anyone as a teenager/borderline teenager either, regardless of the other muse’s age. 1. It’s not in his history and 2. I just get uncomfortable with it.

ARE     YOU     SELECTIVE     WHEN     SHIPPING?: Not in the way this question is probably asking. I’m always down to ship. I just gravitate towards non-romantic ships with Alex. It feels like it fits him better as a character and I think that puts people off of shipping with him or discussing a ship. I’m EXTREMELY OPEN TO IT. Alex is just Like ThatTM with everyone. Being nice and easy to talk to and then there being a wall to get over as far as romance goes. TLDR; nope not selective, attack my inbox.

He’s usually got a default hate-ship as far as enemies go with any John or Jacob Seed he comes across, but I love exploring the nuances of it with the writers. Which, at the moment I’m exploring by beating the crap out of @absolveres and being the unfortunate soulmate of @only-we​ . Mmmm soulmate threads sustain me. @hopesecures is trying to worm his way in with bad jokes but Alex is staying strong. Meanwhile, @lambbled​ is someone he thinks could use a friend so he’s actively trying to do what he can to help her out – and will probably inevitably end up dying for as well. Almost all of the ships that take place with Alex are friends or enemies at this point. People for some reason end up protective of him which is hilarious to me. I love it. Y’all have chosen a doomed character to try and save but seriously, I love all ships. Ships doesn’t just mean romance for me.

What’s your OTP for your Muse?

At the moment, my most developed ship is Rosie and (@osteum‘s) Eddie Brock. Its my deepest passion for that reason, with the kind of dynamics they share, and the amount of interactions that stem around their association to each other. They have a whole family of 6 kids together (including the new addition of Dylan from the current Venom run) and honestly the ups and downs are what I live for. Its the chance I get to explore Rosie’s life as a Mom and a Wife and how she deals with it, mixed in with the regular events of her canon. How she deals with this deep love she has for Eddie and their family beyond any sane reason, and that butters my bread.

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?

Generally anything? As long as im comfortable with my partner, and how Rosie feels towards the said muse, its almost free range. Naturally im not gonna be too cozy with the extremes but If it serves plot purposes maybe I can budge. I can’t really say my own limitation mostly because half the time I don’t really know my limits until suddenly its in my face and too much, then I go “Woah alright, thats enough”

Naturally, anything shipping related needs to be something I can realistically see happening with Rosie. And she’s a hard bird to crack.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

Rosie really a grownass woman with kids, and she’s immortal so she’s more likely than not older than her partner. But Rosie is not gonna date not teenager that could be her kid. Im not gonna flip my shit over huge age gaps as long as there’s good chemistry but Rosie isnt gonna date someone who’s like.. under 25. It largely depends on the maturity of a person that will be the hit or miss with her.

She tends to be interested in older muses either way,  It all varies by what gets plotted in a verse, but Rosie is a little more open to the idea of an older partner than she is someone younger. Even if she’ll never look past 32

Are you selective when shipping

At this point in time, im a tired old lady that literally just wants people to care for Rosie beyond being a tool for romance, so yeah. Im selective( arent we all?), but im generally open minded if we already chatted out some interesting dynamics. In the end, Rosie may be a sick person, but im not gonna have her jump dick or look for some V to slay just because she’s not that desperate of a character. If you wanna love Rosie, there’s gonna be a lot of baggage that is involved from emotional trauma and her off personality, along with her having kids ,

but if you’re ready to explore that field, im open. I just dont want something half assed, ya know? Need a partner thats just as enthusiastic about the ship as me, not someone just collecting her as a angsty neko girl they can go to whenever they don’t get what they want from someone else. Im a hella go big or go home type of Gal. I dont wanna end up looking dumb or making a fool out of Rosie for caring about a ship my partner doesn’t feel the same passion for. Im too tired to get treated like that. And Rosie deserves better than that.

How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?

The moment dirty words start getting thrown in and the heavy petting turns into intentional acts of trying to turn her partner on, its nsfw and its going under read more. I have to be highly comfortable with my partner to actually be writing it but im not against it. Although it has yet to actually happen on my blog besides Rosie’s dirty jokes. Who knows what the future holds.

Atm, Rosie’s partners all have their separate verses and I fucking love them all 

@quantahope with Rosie’s spaceman, Wendell. Its still in development but man is it delicious suffering and growing

@maxskulline has dragged me into the pokefandom with Max and Guzma, so Rosie and Max have that close BFF friendship with that touch of intimate passion thrown in there.

@fcllenstcr Rosie’s infamous relationship with the devil who’s nothing but trouble. There’s a lot of background history that goes into the relationship, but give em a few thousand years and suddenly Rosie finds herself the new Queen of Hell keeping the old snake in line.

 @Cecidesent is Rosie’s main apostle husband, Guts. Written by Will too, Guts and Rosie is probably one of the oldest ships I got and I love them.

Does one have to ask to ship with you?

I would think its common courtesy to ask and not just force your muse onto another. Rosie is not exactly an easy person to just throw in with and chances are if you try she’s gonna shy away because bitch doesn’t know how to handle someone being equally interested in her. I would like to have talked for a while before throwing in with shipping , make sure our muses have good standing because Im not here to have Rosie used as a sex doll right away. But if you see some chemistry there, feel free to ask! Highkey chance im probably into it as well and have been too shy to ask.

How often do you like to ship?

Not often at this point. Im more concerned with Rosie making meaninful friendships nire than I am shipping her off with every person that comes along. There’s a lot of things to accept when shipping with Rosie and many things about her that arent just gonna magically go away just because she’s with someone. I dont mind it but its certainly not my priority.

Are you multiship?

The above information should tell ya by now that I am, however I do have my mains. The more passion and dedication you show me, the equal passion I put in myself. Thats how it goes for me and Rosie. Just fair treatment, ya know?

What’s your OTP for your Muse?

Strangely enough, being the shipper trash I am, I have none. I lowkey ship Charles with... 30% of all important Innocent characters, because... he has made out with them all, but I don’t have an OTP. Everything. Well, almost everything. I’m not down for physical abuse, rape, etc. I just don’t want such things happening to my muse. But aside from that, I’m pretty much down for toxic relationships, healthy relationships, fluff, angst, drama, jealousy, cheating, break-ups, one-night-stands, whatever you wish for.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

Honestly, I don’t think Charles is the kind of a muse to be interested in a younger than him person at all. If anything, the other muse has to be the older one... I’d say 10 years most though? He is in his early twenties in my main verse, so anyone 35+ would be too old for him in my eyes. Age gaps don’t make me feel uncomfortable, it’s just that I’m not interested in them, as they lack balance. (Immortal characters don’t count here, that’s a different scenario).

Are you selective when shipping

Hm... I’d say yes. I’m selective with romantic ships, because I haven’t really found many muses he’d actually fall for, the ones who would be his type, don’t seem to be common archetypes, especially not in the manga/anime fandoms.

Purely sexual ships are easier. He becomes rather lustful as he grows older (in my main verse he is still a virgin, but in canon he literally lost his virginity to a woman he had never seen before, so I guess he’s always been rather horny lmao? The hornyness and touch-starvation are always a factor with him. ).

How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?

Romantically - @princely-alucard - it’s the one relationship of Charles, which has gotten this far. We have been writing for almost half an year though.

Yes, but only after our muses have gotten to know each other. I don’t jump into romantic ships without knowing if they would work out. 

How often do you like to ship?

Not too often. I think I have never had more than 2-3 ships at the same time, I don’t think I could manage more.

I’d say Marie-Joseph x Marie Antoinette, but the last 2-3 chapters kinda ruined it for me.

With a lot of patience to develop our muses’ relationship. While I enjoy plotting, I think the development should happen in-character. I can’t always foresee how my muse would react to yours, because the devil is in the detail, and the detail can’t be plotted out.

Multishipping

sakura multishipping isn’t a super serious thing, people usually have their main ships that they fully believe in and the rest are just for fun. not to mention the multishipping often includes a lot of femslash like sakukarin, sakuhina, and sakuino. i’d say it’s often easier to ship sakura with characters she hasn’t interacted with much precisely because it’s more open-ended; it lends itself to creativity. 

it’s harder to multiship sasuke because sasuke is explicitly shown to be not attracted to ino and karin, and SNS would be more crack/casually multishipped by SS fans (it already is a bit) if the SNS fandom wasn’t so shitty (SNS content often comes w/ anti-ending bullshit). a lot of people OT3 narusasusaku. SH is aggravating again because it usually comes with anti-sakura bullshit, and other sasuke ships are just crack like a lot of sakura ships. 

those remaining crack ships i guess would be things like nejisasu, sasuten, sasugaa, taka/sasu, akatsuki/sasu etc. which are more palatable for SS fans but generally less interesting than Uchiha/Sakura ships or femslash Sakura ships due to Sakura’s relationship with an Uchiha (Sasuke) and friendships with women. Sasuke just doesn’t have as many relationships as Sakura so there’s legitimacy to people citing Sakura being friends w/ many people as a reason for multishipping. sasosaku holds interest because of Sasori acknowledging Sakura’s strength and his change of heart, but it’s just crack. one could argue that Sakura is shown to be not attracted to Lee, but it was prior to knowing him, unlike w/ sasu/karin, and leesaku developed an actual bond unlike sasu/ino. 

sorry for the novel but i just wanted to make a case for multishippers and why it’s often easier for people to multiship sakura than sasuke. it basically boils down to sasuke not having as many positive relationships and interactions, sasuke being solidly disinterested in specific characters (sakura’s not quite as solidly disinterested), and more creative interest in and legitimacy to sakura crackships.

Thanks for the submission, but I’m gonna have to disagree with a lot of this.

I know that it’s not serious and it’s just for fun, but it just often annoys me that so many people in the fandom are perfectly fine with shipping Sakura with the entire male cast, and yet think it’s a crime against nature to ship Sasuke with any other girl. Furthermore, the reasons I’ve been given serve as no justification at all. I’ve since been given reasons privately that make sense and I can agree with (and I’d like to thank that person again), but the ones below? Not so much.

I’d say it’s often easier to ship Sakura with characters she hasn’t interacted with much precisely because it’s more open-ended; it lends itself to creativity.

So why can’t the same be done with Sasuke? What’s wrong with shipping him with characters that he hasn’t interacted with much? Why do the Sakura crackships lend themselves to creativity but the Sasuke ones don’t?

Are you saying that Sakura was shown to be attracted to all of the guys she’s multishipped with? I don’t understand this point at all, and if anything it goes against what you’re trying to say. Out of the two of them, Sakura was the one who demonstrated unwavering romantic attraction and devotion to one person and that was Sasuke; she was never shown to be attracted to anyone else, ever.

I can’t agree with this - That has to do with the fans. There’s nothing inherently anti-Sakura about the SH ship itself so I don’t see why that would have any bearing on whether people can ship it or not. Besides, by that logic, I can just as easily ask why no fans find certain Sakura ships aggravating due to plenty of anti-Sasuke bullshit? Like SakuraxLee for example? There are plenty of SakuraxLee fans who hate Sasuke’s guts, and ship her with Lee precisely because he’d apparently treat her like a “Queen”, rather than Sasuke who was just an “asshole” to her, and so on and so forth. There’s yet another discrepancy in treatment.

Why does Sakura having a relationship with Sasuke suddenly make it easier for her to be multishipped with people like Indra and Shisui? What makes any of those Sasuke ships “less interesting”? Especially when considering that the entirety of those relationships are made up because they’re crack, so the extent to which people would find them interesting would wholly depend on the creativity of the person who ships them. It would have absolutely nothing to do with the characters themselves.

I’ll repeat the following from my previous ask on this topic because it’s every bit as relevant here as it was back then - What relationships?

Sakura almost broke Sai’s jaw when he badmouthed Sasuke, and she later wanted to do a lot worse when he called her an old hag. The rest of their interactions did nothing to build a relationship.

The deepest conversations she’s had with Shikamaru were again, about Sasuke. Other than those instances, she’s said like 5 words to the guy.

She’s said like 5 words to Kiba.

She’s said like 5 words to Neji

Gaara tried to kill her in what was essentially their only interaction.

She and Sasori tried to kill each other on the battlefield.

The same can be said for Madara.

She’s never said a word to Itachi in canon

She’s never said a word to Indra.

Sasuke has more of a relationship with Karin than Sakura has with all of the above characters combined.

I don’t know what relationships people keep on referencing every time they make this point. Saying 5 words to someone or punching their teeth down their throats don’t make a relationship. Unless people wanna tell me that trying to kill each other on the battlefield or having no interactions at all makes for a great relationship? Because in that case, Sasuke has plenty of relationships.

Ino, Karin, Temari and Tenten have acknowledged Sasuke’s strength too, so why isn’t he multishipped with any of them? Because he showed no attraction to them? Yeah the same can be said for Sakura towards Sasori, Shikamaru, Sai, Lee, Naruto, Gaara, Itachi, Kiba, Indra, Madara, Neji, Kakashi and all the rest of them. But that apparently never stopped anyone.

Additionally, Temari and Tenten demonstrated actual canonical attraction to Sasuke at one point, with Temari thinking to herself that Sasuke was pretty handsome, and Tenten thinking that he was cute and cool:

That immediately takes SasukexTenten and SasukexTemari out of the crackship category due to the ships at least featuring canonical romantic attraction, and therefore makes these ships more legitimate than the vast majority of the Sakura crackships for that very reason. You’d think this would make it that much easier for the ships to lend themselves to people’s creativity since they’d be able to formulate all sorts of different ways to develop the relationship based on that foundation. But that doesn’t happen.

Sakura was never shown to be attracted to Lee at all, before or after getting to know him. That’s a fact; there’s absolutely no argument to be had there.

You find that Lee and Sakura developed an actual bond? I find the use of the term “bond” here to be very, very loose when describing their relationship. They are comrades and are on good terms with each other, but to say that they developed a bond with each other? That’s a stretch. But even if we entertain the thought, Sasuke still had a far more prominent bond in the manga with Karin than Sakura had with Lee, for reasons which I mentioned in my last ask regarding this topic, so that’s not a justification.

It basically boils down to sasuke not having as many positive relationships and interactions, sasuke being solidly disinterested in specific characters (sakura’s not quite as solidly disinterested), and more creative interest in and legitimacy to sakura crackships.

But firstly, as demonstrated above, “positive relationships and interactions” cannot be used as a reason here when considering Sakura is multishipped heavily with Itachi, Kiba, Neji, Gaara, Madara, Indra, Shino, Sasori and many others, the vast majority of which are devoid of either positive interactions, or any interactions altogether.

Secondly, Sakura was also solidly disinterested. She was very very clear about where her romantic attraction was. She doesn’t have to tell someone to back off in order to demonstrate solid disinterest in terms of romantic affection.

Lastly, there is no legitimacy with regards to crackships. They’re described as crack precisely because they’re not legit and they have absolutely no solid basis. So Sakura’s crackships aren’t any more “legitimate” than Sasuke’s are.

SHIPPING INFO !! Answer the following for your muse so people know how shipping works on your blog.

WHAT IS YOUR OTP FOR YOUR CHARACTER?: It’s more of an ot4, but I think polyship roadtrip/chocobrot4 is both my favorite and also inherent to how I play my character & how I see their dynamics. Regardless of who in particular I’m playing with or who I ship Noct with, I write him as having had some degree of feelings for all three of his friends (and Luna, tbh). Polyamory doesn’t always work/happen and because I don’t have a lot of shared verses yet on this blog, most of my threads that are headed in a ship direction/are shippy are for 1x1 pairs- but I still see Noctis as having or having had feelings for all of them, and (in non-ot4 situations) putting them aside to try and focus on making one partner happy. (Or, as it sometimes is in the case of Promptis- Gladio and Ignis already being in a relationship, and Noctis not wanting to disrupt/intrude on their feelings for each other, so sharing his romantic partnership with Prompto and simply admiring Gladio & Ignis/their happiness with each other from afar) I just feel like he loves them all so much! Who he is as a person is shaped by how deeply he loves all three of them, and while I adore the individual ships I think the concept of Noctis being able to pick a favorite/romantically loving one but not the others just isn’t plausible to him. It’s just whether the relationship works out or whether he’s willing to act on those feelings that changes verse to verse.

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO WRITE WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING?: A pretty broad range of stuff. While I adore a good, healthy, loving ship, I’m also both willing and interested in exploring the unhealthy, the messy, the unrequited, etc. I- so far- have mostly focused on small-scale mess on this blog- mutual feelings that are unable to be acted upon for propriety’s sake, leftover feelings that are unresolved between two trauma survivors who never expected to live this long, the uncomfortable question of consent and power dynamic in a situation where a lover is appointed by one’s birthright, etc. But I’m also perfectly willing to work with downright unhealthy ships, manipulation, gaslighting, abuse, you name it. It requires a little more trust between partners, but ultimately I like exploring every aspect of relationships, good and bad. I actually tend to prefer a little drama to pure, happy fluff! I think the ideal state of a thread for me is bittersweet- they’re in love, but ___.  That being said, I have some boundaries! My rules page covers most of them, but they’re mostly common squicks/triggers- I also generally discuss what I am and am not willing to do with partners OOC before we get into any ship situation, so I’m always willing to have someone approach and ask, so that at the very least I can give an honest yes or no!

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?:

two thousand years is still within range so Honestly, it’s character dependent. There are some characters well within Noct’s age range I’m uncomfortable shipping him with, and some outside of it that I am. In general, I’m completely uninterested in shipping him with anyone in his father’s retinue- so Weskham, Clarus, Cor, etc, but this is more about history and his view on them than about age gap. On the other hand, Ardyn is still on the table for sheer interest in the chaotic, messy, awful dynamic there. In the other direction, I won’t ship him (at his canon age of 20) with anyone younger than 18-19. 20 is not terribly much older than an 18 year old, but I’m still more inclined to ship him with characters who are 19+. While I do like post-canon Noct/Iris, it’s a hell of a lot different for a 25 year old and a 30 yo than it is a 15 and 20 yo. But in AUs where he is younger- pre-canon, or (for example) the Hero Academia AU, I’m willing to ship him with classmates or peers the same age as him.

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?: Absolutely, but I’m highly selective when roleplaying, too. Overall I need a good OOC and IC dynamic before I ship, because... well, first and foremost because I want someone who it’s fun to discuss (read: scream about) our ship with. I’m also a slow burn bitch, so I prefer a nice buildup or at least a good amount of IC exchanges/asks & ooc talk before we ship.

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY ARE CONSIDERED NS/FW?: Honestly I would say the moment a character makes any mention of/reference to being turned on. I’m pretty cautious with my NSFW tagging, so once things look vaguely heavy, I’ll at least stick a “mild nsfw” tag on there. 

WHO ARE THE OTHER CHARACTERS YOU SHIP YOUR CHARACTER WITH?: I have a pretty broad range of them, but the main ones are: Prompto, Ignis, Gladio, Luna, (25 y/o) Iris. I can also be persuaded to like him with Cindy or Aranea, depending on the interaction and buildup.  Aside from that, it’s all based on interaction! I can like him with anyone, including OCs and/or crossover ships, if we have a good dynamic!

DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU?: Definitely. It’s absolutely fine to have characters flirt or make advances and/or send in romantic memes without asking- but before presuming romantic reciprocation or relationship I definitely like to talk OOC about it. All the ships I have going/building right now came from talking OOC about them! It’s a great way to figure out what you want out of the ship and how to build it.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU LIKE TO SHIP?: Despite Noctis’s feelings for the others being a central component to his character, I think I prefere a good exploration over pure fluff/pure shippy stuff. Almost all the ship threads I have/ships I have on this blog focus on exploring both characters rather than focusing on the happy or sexy aspects of a relationship. It’s super fun writing some kinds of fluff, but I get a little worn out if it’s more than a little kissing/cuddling/sweetly making macaroni together or whatever. Gotta have conflict, internal or external!

ARE YOU MULTISHIP?: Definitely. Well, first and foremost I play Noctis as poly, so IC he’s comfortable with the idea of multiple partners, and OOC I like lots of different ships and dynamics! I am a little hesitant about shipping with multiple iterations of the same character- not because I don’t like shipping with multiples, but because it can be kind of hard to come up with multiple unique scenarios for them to interact/get together/etc and I worry about ideas from different threads bleeding into each other. But if I think the dynamic is right and if they mesh well, I’m down for that too!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SHIP IN YOUR CURRENT FANDOM?: I gotta say chocobrot4 again!! I just want all of them to be happy. Together. And kiss. Because they all love each other.
