I saw your tags on the poll about 911 characters to gate keep, where one of your tags said, "half the stuff he deals with is partly his own fault; he's never held accountable." *waves white flag* Genuinely asking, what are things Eddie has done he's not been held accountable for?

should’ve said ‘held accountable *by fandom’ my bad 😪 i mean it in the sense that he’s placed as blameless in his relationships. shannon left him and chris, but he did it first + he inadvertently isolated her from her mother (and im assuming the rest of her family too if she had any?) and he didn’t listen to her when she was talking (which he was also dealing w recovery and discharge and such but still). the way he treated her when he got back into contact with her wasn’t the best, either, but i understand why. he also wasn’t the best boyfriend to ana either and it took buck pointing that out for him to do anything.

he’s a very gray character because he’s so complex & simple at the same time, and he’s had his reasons for the way he’s acted but those aren’t excuses you know? fandom tends to excuse him of his faults, especially when it comes to the women in his life because it makes it easier to hate on them for whatever reason, but eddie himself has talked about how he wasn’t a good partner and i think instead of babying him we should listen to what he’s been saying and that’s that he is not a perfect blameless man but instead a dude that’s trying his best and learning from the mistakes he’s made and doing better from it.

Hi! So uhhh from the Blorbo Bingo you answered "most fandom takes are incorrect" about Eddie. Now. I've certainly read some takes that make me go ????? But what are some takes you've seen and don't agree with that you don't mind sharing with that class? 👀

okay well i'm just warning you in advance that you've probably opened up a pandora's box by asking me this, but. here are my many, many thoughts on the subject:

the take that eddie has 'anger issues' because of the fight club arc annoys me SO much, because it is: a) racist as hell given that eddie and chimney are the only characters who are treated like this even though bobby has been demonstrated to lash out (violently) in anger on multiple occasions, no one ever tries to say he has anger issues or that his loved ones would be at risk because of him. the fight club arc was more about self-destruction rather than anything else; and eddie wasn't, like. beating up random people in the street. all of the people he was fighting were there for the same reason he was and it was all 100% consensual until it got out of hand in 3x08—at which point he immediately stopped.

the trope that eddie is 'bad with words' or bad at expressing his feelings, is sooo inaccurate, like my man has some of the most heartfelt quotes filled with devotion to his loved ones, put some respect on his name! he's bad with allowing himself to have these feelings, sure, but he's never had a problem with telling his loved ones what they really need to hear when the time comes.

'eddie's panic attacks were only because of ana/comp-het' god. please stop. there were a large number of factors, the most pressing being the fact that he nearly died four months ago. the thing with ana was merely a catalyst and he had at least 2-3 moments like that that had absolutely nothing to do with her. pls rewatch 5A i am begging.

this one was particularly strong in the weeks after 6x10: eddie verbally expressed his fear for buck's life loudly, which means he obviously cares about him more than shannon. fucking hell. please stop. not only is it a weird-ass comparison to make, the way a normal human being might verbally/physically express their grief is in no way proportionate to the actual grief they might feel for someone they deeply love. eddie has been an extremely private person when it comes to his emotions and canonically has a tendency to compartmentalize. his ability to hold it together while shannon was dying is no way indicative of him loving her less. and i'm SO glad 6B emphasized how fondly he thinks of her still asjkdkd

there are definitely loads more but these are the ones that annoy me the most, so. hope you agree with me sjdkdk

🔥 Hm, this is a broad ask but do you have any unpopular opinions about any of the characters or storylines in 911 that you've never been able to talk about? Even something really minor, but it still bugs you.

Honestly, I can't think of anything I haven't talked about? Like, I have SO many unpopular opinions, but I mostly just say them, even if I shouldn't, so I'm having trouble thinking of anything.

So. super random (and I also think I've posted this before, but it's all I can think of). but I think Tatiana was right not to visit Chimney in the hospital after the rebar accident, and I think Bobby was wrong to ask her to.

Also, you know what? The Chevelle thing bothers me. When the fuck did Eddie get a Chevelle?? How does he afford it?? Where does he keep it?? Like, for real, did they actually just toss in a classic car for Eddie so he and Tommy had some "manly" hobby to engage in to make Buck jealous?? It's just so baffling?? The man doesn't even drive half the time, how the fuck is he the one into classic cars?? WHAT was that all about??

To your tags about wishing Marisol had gone away offscreen rather than Natalia, because there had been a bit more there with Buck and Natalia. I agree. To see more explanation of why Buck and Natalia didn't work out could have been interesting/more satisfying. With Marisol, she's still a nothing of a character, and I don't know how much we'll ever see? At most and at best we'll get an interesting breakup w/ Eddie and Marisol (like w/ Ana), but not sure much else? I guess we'll see.

yeah that's it! because nothing had really happened with marisol i feel like it would've been very easy to say, "oh yeah we had a couple of dates and it didn't work out" and it wouldn't feel like retconning or anything. whereas with natalia, because they were more established, there is a little part of me that would've liked to have seen the breakup and/or buck delving into the realisation that she didn't see him the way he initially believed she did. (though i appreciate the little mention it got regardless!)

having said all that, i do respect the fact that the attitude from tptb seems to be 'yeah we didn't like that storyline so it's gone now, don't worry' lmao

Uh hi. Saw your tags about Eddie and Buck from 911, and you were asking "what do you mean they're not canon"? Not sure if you were serious, but yeah, they're still not canon (yet??). Trust me there's plenty of fans baffled why they're not canon for many reasons. For now the show just continues to throw bland/underdeveloped women at these wonderful guys. 🙃🙃🙃

No, I wasn't serious. I know they're non canon (yet?). It's more sarcasm because they act so canon it's wild that they're not canon and the writers are ridiculous for trying to pass them off as just a bromance.

Based on your tags, I'd - suggest not watch Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Um, nothing is handled very well, and the show was in large part used to speak about our real world issues, which... No. That was also not handled super well. =|

Oof. Yeah, that's what I've heard, but...okay look, I really love Sam and Bucky and an entire series of them having to deal with each other makes my little shipper heart sing. So I feel like I'll probably check it out eventually.

Are there any storylines or character beats in s6 so far that you think should have been worked differently? This can even apply to stories/moments you enjoyed, but as a writer you thought "oh it would have been neat/fun if it'd played out this way." Truly not trying to stir up drama, I'm just curious since you're a writer. =)

Um... the short answer is yes.

I think Eddie's storyline has been a little lacking this season (especially after everything he went through last season)... also particularly in 6a, I think there was opportunity for more. There could've been more angst for him with Christopher growing up and wanting more independence, but they kind of dealt with that in an episode and moved on from it.

They've been hinting at Eddie being queer for seasons now and at this point I wish they would drop the subtext and make it actual text. With Michael in Season 1, we met him as he was coming out - we didn't actually get to see him struggle with it, so I wish they would give us Eddie coming to terms with his sexuality.

Instead we might be getting another female love interest for him so yay awesome can't wait for that so good

I also would've wrapped up the sperm donor thing in 6a and not dragged it out so long. Buck's arc in 6b could've then solely focused on the lightning strike and the aftermath, instead of randomly throwing Connor and Kameron back into the mix.

When they pull up to the school, Chris grabs his bag and his crutches like always and pushes open the door to the jeep like always, but for some reason, today, he also turns to Eddie and says, “Love you, Dad,” then looks at Buck and repeats, “Love you, Dad,” then says, “Bye,” and gets himself out of the car and up the walkway into the school. 

As if the whole world hasn’t stopped spinning. 

As if the whole of the universe wasn’t completely rewritten by three tiny words. 

Eddie says something like, “Love you, too,” before Chris was too far out of the car. 

But Buck is back somewhere where the world stopped and his heart stopped and suddenly restarted but nothing is actually moving. He blinks a few times. And maybe breathes? Breathing is important. He should breathe. But nothing else is functioning. 

How— how? Did that just happen? It couldn’t have happened. Buck is hearing things. He’s making it up in his head. It couldn’t have been what he thought it was. That’s just not— they’re —not? Except. They kind of are? Maybe? 

Is there seriously a child— not just any child, his Christopher. Eddie’s Christopher. Who is also Buck’s Christopher? — there’s a child who calls Buck his dad? Buck is dad to someone? 

Okay, yeah, they talk about it. Eddie talks about it. He talks about adoption papers and Chris has told Buck more than once how he loves him and has missed him and how Buck is special and means so much to him. 

But—?  But he’s never—

“Did,” Buck tries but words are hard. Why are they so ridiculously hard. “Did he just? Did he call me w-what I think he called me? Or— or am I—? I’m losing my mind, aren’t I. I’m still sleeping. Right? This is a dream.”

Eddie reaches for Buck’s arm, captures skin and muscle between two fingers, and squeezes. Lightly, but still noticeably a pinch. 

“Ow?” Buck glares at him. Not that it hurts. He just feels like being indignant. 

Eddie rolls his eyes and just smiles at him. “Not a dream. And you already know he’s your son. Our son. Where have you been the last seven years?”

Buck tries not to smile back but can’t help it. “He’s just— he’s never. Called me that. He doesn’t call me that. I’m not— I mean, I am? In a way? But— you’re his dad.”

Eddie’s face goes soft and fond, and he rests his hand on Buck’s thigh. “You’re his dad, too. You have been for a long time. No, not in the same way as me. But biology is not family. Love is family.” 

“Yeah. Yes. I—” Buck knows that. Of course he knows that. His family is Maddie and Chim and Jee-Yun and Hen and Bobby and Karen and Athena and Ravi, and by extension May and Denny and Harry and Michael and David. And of course Eddie and Chris. Always Eddie and Chris. It’s not that Buck doesn’t know. It’s not that this is a revelation. Just—

Buck’s eyes are wet and his heart is bursting, and he rubs a hand over his jaw. “He called me Dad.”

Eddie reaches until he’s cupping Buck’s face and jaw with one hand. “You’re our family. We love you.” 

“See, I know that. I do know that. But— Eddie. Eddie, he called me— he called me Dad.”

Eddie sort of laughs but it’s in a soft, sweet way, and then he pulls Buck toward him until he can kiss his forehead. “Of course he did.”

My great-grandma.Her name was Leia (which is your usual Jewish name btw,she was not named after a princess lol) and so I kinda have two names-Ellena and Leia.I obviously go by Elle online.

Two days ago.Just a reaction to a very hard week,the worst part of it was that I was with my boss on zoom call.Tho maybe its not the worst part-he understood how frustrated I am over the whole situation and I hope he will help.

Just saw you mention Emma Swan is an all time favorite character. When did you stop watching OUAT? I stopped... I think it was at the end of season 5. It was all getting a bit Too Much, and I think my husband and I agreed "eh, it feels like an ending here, so we'll stop."

i gave up after s5 xD i could have dealt with the wacky and ridiculous storylines had the writers not committed to butchering most of the characters and retconning their own work. it just got so tiring

I too still want to know Eddie's thoughts about Buck donating sperm. We only got Hen's advice for Buck, but I don't remember anything/anyone else? The only thing we can glean from Eddie's "Idk, it feels weird to congratulate him" and his facial expressions, is... he possibly didn't fully approve. I always felt that storyline was weird for not having Buck talk to more of his family, including Eddie.

yeah it's really strange. like i get him talking to hen about it since she's been the person on the other side with fostering and adopting and i loved their conversation. but for him to not discuss it with eddie at all when eddie is a father and buck's relationship with chris being what it is, it really felt like an elephant in the room that they never acknowledged.

however having rewatched s6 just before s7 aired, i really do think the sperm donor arc was the main one they dropped when things started shifting over the fear of cancellation etc. because up until about 'in another life' the groundwork is absolutely there to dig into it. everything is set up!!!

but then it just doesn't get brought up again until 6x17 when kameron crashes his date with natalia and there isn't really much time then to delve into how buck is dealing with it all

(in contrast i would say the other big storylines of the season - hen and karen's story with denny's bio dad, bobby's arc with wendall, madney proposal - all have very clear and satisfying resolutions)

@mellaithwen and i were discussing it and bc it was mentioned in a s7 promo vid as one of the things to 'remember' from s6, we were saying it's possible they'll bring it all up retrospectively now like they did with eddie's 5b storyline

so if they do i'd really love to see him talk to eddie about it and, in turn, actually see what eddie thought of it all, y'know??

but i suppose we'll just have to wait and see!!
