Shadow: He left with Tails two days ago. Amy: Maybe he forgot? You know how scatterbrained he is. Shadow: No. He told me he’d put the letter inside so he’d see it as soon as he opened his bag, and I saw him do it. I just ruined everything and now he won’t want anything to do with me because I made it awkward. Amy: Oh, don’t say that. Writing that letter was really brave. Shadow: No. It was stupid. The worst part isn’t that this is unrequited. The worst part is I lost him as a friend, which is what I didn’t want to happen in the first place. [walks away] Rouge [goes after him]: Shadow, sweetheart— [Amy is about to follow, but her phone rings. She answers.] Amy: Hello? Sonic! How’s everything going? Are you and Tails having fun? …What? They lost your suitcase??? Good…! …I mean good because I bet Tails is having the time of his life filling out forms and claim sheets, right? Yeah, I figured… Oh, you’re coming back tomorrow? Of course. We’ll be here waiting. Can’t wait to see you! Bye! [She hangs up and runs to where Shadow and Rouge are.] Amy: Shadow! Shadow! Sonic just called me—! Shadow: Amy, really, I don’t want to hear— Amy: Listen to me! They lost his suitcase. He didn't have the chance to read your letter! Shadow: What? Rouge: Told you! My theory was that he'd lost it himself, but I’m still right and that’s what matters. Amy: He's coming back here tomorrow! Shadow: Shall I write a second letter explaining what the first one said? Rouge: …Yeah, sure. And look, [pulls out a notepad and starts writing on it]: I’ll write a third letter giving you my opinion on your second letter. [shows him the notepad where she’s written ‘turd.’] Amy: Rouge is right. Shadow: Then what do I do? Amy and Rouge: Tell him to his face! Amy: Jinx! Shadow: I can’t tell him to his face. Amy and Rouge: Yes, you can! Amy: Hey, jinx again! Shadow: But— Amy and Rouge: Just do it! Rouge: —you stubborn idiot! Amy: Ooh, almost a third time. But I guess I don’t get big sister privileges with him. Shadow: Fine… I’ll tell him directly. Amy: Yesss! Can I be your maid of honor? Shadow: Amy, he might turn me down. Amy: That wasn’t a no!

We were besties for sure. We like all the same music and he's surprisingly good at girl talk. I've been wanting to include him in me and the girls' sleepovers, but... We haven't really talked much since the fight... I wanna apologize, but.. I'm just.. hehe.. I'm ashamed.. I acted really bad to him... I feel guilty for just.. moving on, too, now that I've got someone who's showing me actual care and love like I was wanting.. is that selfish?

These are still baby steps. Amy: Baby steps telling you all that?? Sonic: All what? Amy: What he's telling you in the letter! Sonic: His phone number? I already saved it to my contacts. I’ll thank him for the trust. Amy: …What? [grabs the letter]: …This is not Shadow’s letter. Sonic: Then what is Shadow’s letter? Amy [pauses, thinking. Talks to herself]: …Did he get another key? Sonic: The letter’s a key to what? Amy [covers her mouth with the letter, voice high-pitched]: Mrs. Amy, snack time! [uncovers her mouth and hands the letter back to Sonic]: Oops, that’s Cream, she’s waiting for me at home. Gotta go, loved this little chat! [runs off] Sonic: …Everyone’s acting super weird today. --- [Amy enters the tea shop, where only Shadow is setting up displays and Rouge is sitting at a table.] Amy: Hello, Shadow, two quick things… First, do you have my order? Shadow: Yes. [hands her a box] Amy: Thanks, sweetheart. And second: WHY THE HELL DIDN’T YOU LET SONIC READ THE LETTER?! [with a sweet, friendly voice]: Sorry, it’s just that if I asked the other way around, you might’ve withheld my cupcakes. Shadow: You too? I switched it, end of story. He’s happy not having me messing up his life with my issues, and if everyone just leaves me alone, maybe I can be happy too. Amy: With him, you’d get to that happiness faster! Right now all you’ve got is this pathetic dusty-pink kind of happiness! Rouge: Amy, let it go. There’s nothing to be done. He’s moved on and now he only has eyes for our great trip to Damp Village. Amy: …What’s that? Rouge: A crappy town no one ever goes to. We couldn’t afford anything better after we had to tear apart the last set of tickets… Shadow: Don't explain her anything. This story’s over. Watch what I do with it. [takes the letter and tears it to pieces. Throws it in the trash.] Amy: Fine.
