My beloved Jackie!

She is my Creole baby from Louisiana. All my dolls get a small piece of me in their lore and Jackie gets the tiny piece I left somewhere in the Bayou when I moved out. She speaks French and ASL (and some English after she went to college)

Jackie is a customized 26 with a light faceup (freckles and blush) and a discontinued zazoudolls wig. the necklaces are all from @/allldolledup on Instagram (middle 2 were custom made for Jackie!). the belt is a necklace from the 80s. all the clothes are handmade but I got them secondhand so I do not know the artist. :( shoes are the original Kit meet shoes.

Sewn a new dress for Ellie, found this cute South Park print fabric. It's the first time I learned how to sew puffed sleeves like this, and they look darling! I also found out that the South Park movie will be having special screenings in June for the 25th anniversary (and it's a sing-along version lol), so Ellie is coming with me to that (she's the one kid who's allowed to watch stuff with swears lol).

A kind redditor gave me a Josefina doll, in super rough condition, for just the cost of shipping c: They got her along with a couple other dolls that they planned to fix up and donate to children, but poor Josie was in quite a state, and was offered as a freebie to anyone who might want to send her to the doll hospital. I asked for her because I wanted to try and fix her myself! She was so much fun to fix up! The last photo is how she came to me.

Her leg had come off, because the tension cup cracked. I took off her other limbs, removed her original wig because it looked like there was missing hair under all that matting, cleaned her limbs and her body and face, put her back together again, and rewigged her. I think the short, wavy hair really suits her! It was between the short hair, and a super long, thick wig which also looked really pretty on her but I ended up preferring the short. Now I want to find another doll for the long wig 😁

I might rename this doll Azucena, because she's not quite a Josefina anymore. I'd love other name suggestions though!

can you put an our generation doll's head on an american girl doll body?

answer:

yes!

how it works:

OG doll heads are held on with a ziptie and a couple of stitches at the base of the neck!! i forgot to take photos of quinn (OG aubrie)’s head while i was removing it from the OG body, but the ziptie fits into the little groove at the bottom of the neck (pictured in the first photo). i cut the stitch at the back of the OG body's neck, then had to cut into the fabric around it to expose the ziptie. you could probably repair this if you wanted to reuse the body for another project. it's a little difficult, but once you expose the ziptie, you can carefully work a pair of scissors under the it in the groove, then snip and remove it!

AG doll heads have a larger base that helps the heads stay on with string! so when you attach the OG head, you'll want to pull the string tighter than you would for an AG doll, since OG heads rely on the groove to keep heads in place.

why do this?

OG dolls IMO have some very pretty sculpts and hair, and they’re cheaper! i really fell in love with quinn when i saw her at target. but i’m not crazy about OG bodies- they’re lighter weight and not as posable, and i had an extra AG doll body hanging around from an old project! plus, i couldn’t find online where anyone had done this, and i was curious if it would work.

i think the doll body i used was from a rebecca doll, which was a good skintone match for quinn! the head is a little looser than an AG head, which i kind of dig because it opens up possibilities for more realistic posing, like a slight head tilt. added a slight faceup of extra lashes, thicker brows, and additional freckles, and she's really a beautiful doll that i’m excited to display alongside my AG girls!
