I never really did anything with Pina and Nessie's lore for a while bc for some reason I was afraid people would be upset that their relationship objectively sucks, and that they definitely wouldn't be happy long term... but I'm still getting messages of ppl saying how they love this dynamic bc they've been in similar situations or that it's just interesting to learn more about and I'm genuinely so relieved y'all don't understand lmao

i think what I don't see enough of in fictional relationships is that it rarely represents how real relationships are never 50/50 and I just really wanted these messy bitches out here.

the main issue with these girls is that Pina reaaaally wants to be a caretaker and doesn't know her own limits bc she's so blinded by a role that she's used to having since forever, even if it costs her everyone's sanity. I didn't solidify her backstory yet bc it keeps changing in my head but I wanted it to involve her being the main caretaker for a sick family member since she was a teenager and it's ingrained into her psyche now. she's used to sacrificing herself if it means those that she loves can stay alive

as with Ness her home life was straight up garbage, never had a supportive parental figure and she has no healthy emotional regulation skills whatsoever. She's independent in a way that's the opposite of Pina where it's more of a chaotic survival type of independence and not pina's Girlboss independent if that makes sense....like she'll do anything to survive short term but doesn't take into account long term, because she never thought she'd make it that far. now that she no longer has to fight to stay alive bc pina's supportive her, she feels lost and fell back into a deep depression. you'd think she'd feel relief but like, if the only thing you ever knew in life is to be on edge how do you adjust your brain chemistry to know you can chill out now?? shit doesn't happen overnight

I see a lot of irl dynamics that are sooo similar bc I think caretaker types are attracted to people like nessie. is it healthy?? hell no but it just keeps happening

anyways, toxic yuri forever and I can't wait to build up on their story

That’s really interesting — if they mean the Nessie and Pina comic, I found it sad, but not nauseating/viscerally upsetting. It seems like two well meaning people that care for each other very much who are not properly communicating their wants and feelings (Nessie especially) which is very real for someone dealing with depression from trauma which can’t be treated just with antidepressants since there’s still untreated core causes. I hope for the best for them! I just was intrigued because my emotional response was so extremely different. To me it just felt reasonable and sad but not at all unfixable.

now the question is will I let them fix it or will I doom them to suffer in the most incredibly cringe way possible
