AU where Michael survives the fall off the Williamsburg Bridge, but is badly injured, so Apollo brings him over to Asclepius to heal back up, and get physical therapy and occupational therapy, but Apollo and Asclepius (and Epione and hers and Asclepius' children) are all gods and have no sense of time, so they accidently keep Michael away from the rest of the half-bloods for eleven months until Jason, Leo, and Piper go to get the Physicians Cure, and to their surprise a demigod is there.
Now, since Asclepius has been focusing on healing Michael and also barely leaves Epidaurus, he also forgot to tell Michael about the whole war thing, so he's honestly really confused.
And then Leo recognizes him because Will has a picture of Michael on his quiver (and while giving the tour to Leo, the picture caught his eye and stuck, because adhd really makes you remember the randomest stuff) and tells him everything.
Michael is stubborn so when he hears about said war, he's ready to go, bows blazing, he wants to help. Asclepius thinks this is actually a terrible idea because you've barely been able to walk for a few months without crutches, and are still not at full strength, and Dad'll be disappointed if I let you go, but Michael's going.
So, along with the physicians cure, Jason, Leo, and Piper bring one feral Apollo kid back to the Argo II.
Percy thinks he's hallucinating because the guy he accidently killed is right there and maybe Tartarus messed him up more than he thought, and Annabeth is gaping at him.
Hazel and Frank have never been more confused in their life, which is saying a lot because both of them have the tendency to get confused over tiny things.
So, Michael becomes a temp member of the Argo II. Him and Frank get along amazing, and are always taking about archery and comparing bows (Frank's nearly two feet taller than Michael so his bow is actually twice Michael's bows size). And him and Percy have a much needed talk about the battle.
Sad part is Michael has to watch his father be banished and not heard from in six months (not fun), but good news is when Apollo does show up, we can get some quality Michael and Meg friendship! Apollo wishes they'd never met, but Meg adores Michael so much.
Meg jabbed Apollo with her elbow. "Your son is so cool."
Apollo glanced at where his eldest son at camp was currently chasing Sherman Yang with a broken arrow shaft, cursing with a variety of colorful language that, if he hadn't heard Meg say worse, he would be tempted to cover her ears. "I agree."
Meg clicked her tongue. "Must have got it from his mother, because you're lame."
Apollo gasped, clutching his chest dramatically. "Meg, you wound me!"
Meg chuckled softly. "Sucks to face the truth."
Another awesome scene could be Will, Kayla, and Austin reuniting with him, or Michael getting to curse out Octavian! (Would pay money to see).
Will I do anything with this AU? Maybe. I have too many WIP right now to dedicate time to it, but maybe it'll come sooner or later. I definitely want to write a Michael survives story (all the ones I've read are actually some of my favorite things ever), but whether I choose to do this one is up in the air.

Things that leveled me up as a Dyke Pt. 2
When I had dyke sex in the parking lot of the fire and brimstone church I grew up in
When a girl drew protective sigils on my arm for weeks after she overheard me tearing apart her old roommate for saying transphobic shit about her
When the sleep study doctor told me I have a medically large tongue and my wife shouted "I KNEW IT"
When the butch at the hardware store told me the shelf cutting machine broke and we spent 20min cutting shelves with bolt cutters for my wife's closet.
At the RenFaire, my wife tried the knife throwing but couldn't get it, then got huffy when I told her how to do it. She handed me the last knife and told me it's not that easy. I did not tell her I threw knives a lot as a kid, so with all her bags and jewelry balanced in one arm, I flipped the knife a couple times and sunk it into the wooden target guy. Felt like a damn hallmark movie and I loved it.
When an Aussie woman in a hotel lobby asked me to please please keep talking because she was fascinated by my american southern accent. I called her darlin and she blushed.
When my wife's grandfather was fine with her being a lesbian largely because I was such a big help with the cattle
When I moved an iron bedframe into the garden for my wife's coworker and she asked how long we'd been together. The answer was that morning. We'd been going steady for about an hour.
When I taught my wife how to waltz

Hi, hello, I saw three Ever After High posts on my dash in a row, promptly remembered it exists and also that nowhere near enough people have read the books (which is what I consider canon) and I need to go feral, ya'll are gonna get a bunch of rambly posts about it now and this IS an invitation to scream to me about it.
For our first number:
Can we talk about how Book Kitty misses her mom so bad that one of the few people she doesn't mess with on her pranking spree is Snow White while she's missing her daughter?
Can we talk about how Book Kitty doesn't mess with Raven because Raven is already going through too much?
Can we talk about how Book Kitty would throw hands for Cedar Wood because Cedar is an "almost-friend" who made a cup of tea for her when she had a sore throat?
Can we talk about how Book Kitty spends hours finding the perfect book in the library to prompt Lizzie into building a wonderland plant garden around the defunct wonderland wishing well to help with her homesickness?
Can we talk about how none of these people are even aware Kitty cares about them this much because she disguises it all as boredom and mischief?
Can we talk about Book Kitty Cheshire?

I know it's January, but December was so busy and hectic that I still have holiday posting to catch up on! Please bear with me and pretend it's still December 😅
On Dec. 20th I took Samantha to a local theater’s version of A Christmas Carol! We both loved it, and afterward we talked with some of the cast... many remembered me from previous years (most of the main roles are played by the same actors every year)! Christmas Present hugged me like 5 times and told me that his character would LOVE my earrings, which is such a high compliment, and Christmas Past and I talked politics and how revolutionary the story feels this year, and then got into a discussion about American Girl dolls (she said Kirsten was always her personal favorite, then grinned and indicated her own blonde hair).
The only downside was Jacob Marley’s actor left before I could catch him, but Belle and Past said that if I came back after the next day's show, they’d let him know I was looking for him and where I’d be waiting for him. So I did, and I swear, he's such a lovely man... his face lit up when he saw me and he called out "Marley!" He apologized for missing me the day before, and we talked a bit about Christmas shopping and (again) the current political climate, because it really is such an inherently political show and unfortunately deeply relevant to what's going on in the US right now. Plus I showed him my Christmas Carol-inspired tattoo (I'd shown it to him last year, but we'd been outside at night so he couldn't really see it). He loved the design so much, he asked if he could take some photos of it, which I of course agreed to. I also got my annual Jacob Marley hug, which is good, because it's gotten to the point where my Christmas isn't complete without it. 🥰
(Pictured: Sam at the merch table posing with her own copy of the novella, and by the Capitol Building on the way back.)
BONUS:
The earrings Christmas Present liked so much! They're mismatched on purpose (I usually wear one stud-style earring and one long dangling one).

I'll always talk up internet radio stations because I don't think the average person is aware that they're free, can run in your browser (or in any program that can connect to them), work on your phone, run better than a youtube tab, and give you a much better selection of music than you could get from a general algorithmic playlist
(also lots of them have live shows which you can tune into for free)

this would be amazing
Hey, you want to know something that would’ve made legacy day even more devastating for Apple? If signing the book gave everyone magical changes and not just a few. We know that Raven needs to sign it to get her full powers, but imagine if it was like that for everyone. Apple signs expecting the usual princess magic enhancements, a brighter smile, more polished beauty, and finds that in addition to all that her hair has magically turned black as ebony, and her eyesight has become crystal clear without her glasses. Then, when Raven tears her own page out of the book her hair bleeds back to blonde, and her eyesight deteriorates in mere seconds. I feel like having her see all of her “flaws” fixed and then "ruined" again would add another level of angst to the whole situation.

I love this!! particularly the darling characterisation, I feel like that was never explored enough in the show
rescritura Charming family. 💗
I feel like most of my ideas for the Charming's are just taking what is implied in cannon and drawing it too it’s natural conclusions, but there are a few plot points/quirks that I think adding in could be interesting:
Daring: I want Daring to reach his breaking point so, so badly. In a good way! I think something that would show a lot of depth in his character is if Daring slowly built towards a crash out and subsequent putting himself back together sometime post dragon games. Imagine as the story goes on, we see the pressure slowly building on Daring, and his mask starts slipping bit by bit. His destiny is thrown into the unknown by Raven not signing. He thought he knew what true love was, but now he’s developing feelings for a girl who isn’t a part of his destiny (take your pick, I haven’t decided yet). His siblings and him have been growing distant. His true love is actually his sister's true love, and his one purpose in life is now gone. He hides behind mask of easy going princely-ness that’s tied to himself so tight that sometimes even he forgets it’s there, but I feel like as the year goes on that mask should slip and crumble, both terrifying Daring as he is faced with the painful truth that he never got to craft his own identity and yet freeing him from the aching confines of the one crafted for him by his family and society.
Dexter: Dexter play’s a pretty interesting role in the destiny conflict as he is someone who has no idea what his destiny will be and thus isn’t certain if he wants his destiny or not. He might be a prince charming like his family, but he could also become a villain or end up in a destiny married to a girl he isn’t truly in love with, or a million other things. I saw a post on here once that the Charming's might have hoped Dexter was the next beast due to “villainous” behavior (find it here), and I have since adopted this idea into my interpretation of him. Like the rest of the Charming's, he is torn between duty to his family and duty to his self-worth, but his dilemma is a bit more complex as he runs the real risk of being destined a villain, the very thing his family despises and yet he would have to become for their love. And sure, the chances of that are slim, but he just doesn’t know and may never know at this rate. It leaves him with very complex feelings on the whole destiny matter.
Darling: for the most part, Darling stays roughly the same as she exists in the original canon, however her wonderland escapades have been going on far longer than just a year. You see, even though Wonderland was quarantined, they couldn’t close all of the entrances. Wonderlands magic fights against being constrained for too long, even when it’s under the influence of the Evil Queen's curse. When she was around 11-12, Darling got into a big fight with her mother. The catalyst for it was her being moved to the tower, but really it was a culmination of her emotions about being treated as a helpless damsel her entire life. The fight boiled over into a screaming match, something Charming's are never supposed to do, and Darling ran off into the castle’s garden to get away from her mother. Her mother ran after her, and so she tried to hide in a rabbit hole. But this rabbit hole just happened to be one that led to Wonderland, and it led Darling to Courtly, who was being attacked by a curse-twisted flower. Both scared for her life and desperate to help the other girl, Darling broke a piece of a nearby fence off and started to fight the flower by mimicking the sword drills she’d seen her brothers practice, but realized midway through that that the flower was not in control of herself due to the curse and was lashing out due to how dark the area is. She uses her magic touch to freeze time and move the flower to a distant spot of dirt that was in the sunlight, thus saving all involved. The White Knight see’s this, as he had heard the commotion and came to save whoever got trapped by the garden. He demands to take Darling back to Ever After, but Darling refuses, saying that the people here feel helpless due to the curse, and no one should be made to feel helpless, and that she wants to stay and help in any way that she can. The White knight insists on taking her back as Wonderland in its current state is quite dangerous, but states that finding a warrior who has both bravery and the willingness for peace is rare, and that her time manipulation power is oddly wonderland-like. Thus, he makes a deal with Darling that she can come back and train under his guidance, acting as his squire, so long as she always returns home. Darling finds that pretending to be the perfect princess is easier now that she has an outlet for the rage. She also forms somewhat of an odd friendship with Courtly and is sad that Courtly can’t come back with her to Ever After as the quarantine spell Grimm cast binds itself not just to the entrances of wonderland but also the inhabitants.

in reference to ur post about how u would rewrite a character from eah, what would you do with Courtly jester?
Courtly as a character has a fascinating amount of potential if you take into consideration that there is no Jester in the original stories of Alice in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass. There are two things that i would want to do with her character that i feel would really make this potential shine:
I wrote up a list of rules in this post for how the destiny system in the rambles au works a while ago, and in that post I mentioned that on paper everyone *technically* has a destiny as commoners are expected to carry on family trades to support their kingdoms, but in practice they’re barely treated as if they are a part of the exclusive destined group. In this au, Wonderland wasn’t just left alone and then suddenly quickly cursed and quarantined, it has a history of many different Ever After kingdoms attempting to and semi succeeding in colonizing it at random intervals in history, hence how you get Ever After stories like Humpty Dumpty taking place in Wonderland. The unspoken caste system of Ever Afters destined/non destined was one such unfortunate and unwanted cultural import that came over a while ago, but not too long ago to have been completely accepted as being “the way it's always been”. I once read somewhere that Jesters were actually respected members of a royal court as they could break news to the king that would get others banished or executed, and while I’m not sure of the validity of that statement, i do think it would be very interesting to employ this concept in the case of Courtly. Imagine this; the Jester’s of the Wonderland courts once held an esteemed position, acting as both entertainment and trusted advisors. They may not have had a role in the main wonderland stories, but they were respected all the same, as well as all others living in wonderland. However, sometime when Courtly’s grandmother held the position, this changed. Foreign rulers brought great trade to wonderland, but also great calamity as they sucked up the fringes of the land for themselves and imposed odd cultural practices. And through this, the Jesters lose their prestige. They become laughing stocks, but not in a good way, and worse, they lose the position of advisor that they’ve held for generations. Courtly was raised by her grandmother, and grew up hearing tales about how the Jesters used to act as the bridge between the common folk of wonderland and the rulers, holding the power of keeping it all in balance. Now they have no power, and it’s cost them their world and way of life as one of these foreign rulers, the Evil Queen, weaseled her way into the role of the Queen of Hearts advisor using one of her many disguises, thus ultimately dooming wonderland. Courtly wants power, not just for power's sake, but because she sees the removal of the Jesters from power as a key domino in the cursing of wonderland. And since the only way to get power under the new rules of the world is to have a destiny, she will do anything to get her hands on one that will give her the power she deserves.
Courtly could be a great foil for Lizzie. Lizzie was forced to flee wonderland; she hasn’t been back in roughly eight years at this point in the au, but has been ruling the refugees of wonderland in ever after. Meanwhile, Courtly has been holding it down, inheriting the leadership of what is essentially a commune of wonderland citizens back home from her grandmother. They're both deeply loyal to Wonderland and want to fix it, and both take to trying to do this through following the destiny system, but they clash in the worst of ways. Lizzie is playing everything to the rule, both in terms of destiny and in terms of her mother's cards, but ends up constantly breaking the rules of ever after’s culture by accident. Meanwhile Courtly is playing within the rules, but with malicious compliance. Courtly believes the current line of Hearts rulers got Wonderland cursed? Steal the destiny of the Princess of Hearts! Now she wins the game while only bending the rules. Courtly gets what she wants through manipulation, acting, and flattery, while Lizzie is a stalwart believer in always having her statements and emotions reflect the truth as she understands it. They are both scared, lonely individuals with the weight of their world on their shoulders but find themselves in fundamental conflict due to past sins of the previous generations that neither were at fault for.

It’s literally that simple
Friend: “hey my son can’t concentrate on his homework. He chooses to do literally anything else everytime. He said his head doesn’t feel like it.”
Me: “Did you give him music?”
Friend: “No! No tech until he’s done! He doesn’t need more distracted.”
Me:
“k, bring me the child”
*Go to her house*
*points to the obviously ADHD boy struggling with his homework*
Me: “so your head doesn’t feel like doing homework?”
Son: “yeah. It would rather do ANYTHING else.”
Me: *unwrapping earbuds* here, listen to this for an hour while you do it.
French voice: 1hr later
Son: “k I’m done! :-)”
Friend: “wow, what’d you give him? Concentra, Adderall, Ritalin‽”
Me: “Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics” and some lo-fi.
