Double Portrait - Elisabeth Bellinghausen and Jacob Omphalius

by Bartholomäus Bruyn the Elder (1493-1555) in 1538/9

When it was posted in the "cc wishlist" channel of the History discord I am a member of, I remembered right away that I have a frame that would fit perfectly; so, I decided to make my first painting cc!

The diptych of Jacob Ompalius, and his fiancée Elisabeth Bellinghausen was actually separated for hundreds of years, after it was split in two after the couple's divorce.

Elizabeth has been on display in art museums since donated in 1912, but it wasn't until 2019 that Jacob was discovered, and they were reunited.

After extensive restoration, and reconstruction of the original (lost) frame with hinges, it has since been on display at Mauritshuis from 2020.

The oil-on-panel double portrait was painted by Bartholomäus Bruyn the Elder (1493-1555) in 1538/9. Bruyn was the leading portait painter for the elite of Cologne, founder of a the first school of portraiture in the city. His realistic style was inspired by artists like Hans Holbein the Younger, and like Holbein, he was meticulous in capturing the details of their luxurious clothing and jewelry. He specialized in diptychs of engaged and married couples. Even though portraits formed the bulk of his output, Bartholomäus Bruyn did not sign them. He signed his religious art only, and attributions of his portraiture spring from stylistic comparisons with the signed pieces. As is typical of his couple diptychs, the couple in the Mauritshuis are painted against a plan blue background. The groom looks right, the bride left off the frame, towards each other, and a marble ledge or counter begins in the man’s portrait and ends in the female one. This couple was engaged, not yet married, as attested to by the sprig of bittersweet, symbolizing a fiancee in the visual vernacular of Cologne portraiture. I have no idea what the actual size of the piece is, so I decided on a size that suits me - but one can always use the [ / ] keys to make it smaller or larger to suit.

As well as trying to recreate the original frame, I have made 7 additional frame colours:

I'm not sure whether I'll do paintings in the future, there's so many good ones already out there (see: TheJim07 on Tumblr & TSR).

I know many prefer Maxis Match pictures for their saves - I PREFER REAL ONES!

The Borgias Hairs

As many of you guys know I've worked on this set for a little while and now it's finally here!! Many thanks to @tekri and their open tou, for allowing me to use parts of their their Isobel hair!

There are so many great hairstyles from the show that I wish I could've made, but they're totally above my skillset :(( Anyways the set consists of three different hairs, worn by different characters and a hair net/accessory for the Ursula hair!

Another thing: my pinterest search really sucks so I lost the reference picture for one hair and couldn't find any pictures from different angles for the other hairs, so they might not be exact replicas.

known issue: the ursula and lucrezia hairs both have swatches where the texture doesn't look very good, but it's ea's fault for making the texture swatches different...

Burglar Alarms

Two off-the-grid, unbreakable burglar alarms that aren't plastic or electronic: a bell and wind chimes.

They can't be made smaller, or the screen would still be visible when the alarm is going off. I can't remove that (or the visible alarm) or there are very strange visual glitches.

12 swatches for the bell, and 5 for the windchimes. The bell has three small slots on top.

Unlike the original alarm, they're safe to put outside and most of the time, the burglar will be scared away before they reach the door.

Medieval CC - Small Business Ticket Kiosk

I've received numerous requests for this particular item, so I went ahead and cooked something up for you guys. The Medieval Ticket Kiosk has all the same functions as the regular one, but has custom coding that eliminates the screen VFX and enables off-the-grid functionality.

I've also included a second, optional file that overrides the kiosk check-in animation. This override replaces the cellphone with a leather-bound book and removes the screen blooping noises. This override will NOT conflict with other historical phone overrides you may already have installed, as it only affects this particular animation.

Note: As with any piece of cc that employs custom tuning, the kiosk interactions may break after a major update. Keep this (and other items like it) in a separate folder, so that if you start getting errors, the likely culprits are all in one place.

Surprise! My first official piece of cc...

When I saw @happylifesims latest 1940s dress I was itching to put some patterns on it, so I've gone ahead and recoloured it in a few floral and gingham swatches. I've also added solid swatches in SerendipitySims' Historian palette!

The Bog Witch's Kitchen

A Quick & Dirty Selfish Recolor

I recolored the Rustic Range kitchen, specifically for my SimSelf. But then it was a lot of fun and I decided I need way more colors, with and without stained glass (but mostly with.)

I ended up with 7 paint colors, 4 wood colors, 6 different shades of stained glass or wooden doors with no glass, and 5 different countertops. ALL glass and countertop options are available for all colors, or however else I should word that to make it less confusing, for mixing and matching. An absolute shload of combos available because honestly, I'm a slut for options. All the black metal has been changed to a nice natural brass, and there are slots all over (including atop the cabinets) for decorating.

They aren't perfect, but they make me happy.

Bridal attire of the 1920s marks a transformative time in women's fashion. The post World War I era saw a liberation in female clothing that had never been witnessed before. Changing societal norms and the new cultural dynamism were reflected in shorter hemlines, lower necklines and a breezy, free spirited silhouette. Bridal fashion encapsulated a blend of innovation, sophistication and a departure from traditional norm.

The post war period saw a lot of second time brides and brides with more modest means. Typically these women would opt to forgo the traditional white wedding dress and instead wear a nice dress or suit, accessorised with a white cape, coat, veil, hat and/or gloves.

Bridesmaid dresses followed contemporary fashion trends and were usually quite simple so as to not overshadow the bride. For warmer months they would be decked out in matching dresses in lighter shades such as rose, soft green, buttercup yellow, light blue, peach or apricot. Jewel colours came into play for the colder months with deep blue, chartreuse, red, silver, gold, orchid purple, burnt orange and turquoise popular choices. A large, picturesque hat finished off an attendant's ensemble. CC links under the cut.

Alicent Season 2 Hair

I'm finally back with another hotd hair! This time it's another Alicent hair, one that she wore quite a lot in s2. I've had to postpone the Rhaenyra hair that I shared a while ago, so therefore I'm posting this one instead.

The texture of the different braid's don't really match and looks kind of odd on some of the swatches, but I tried my best to make it work...

Ride Away

These were made for the magnificent @freezerbnuuy a few months ago (this year is passing too quickly)! Pack contains 10 trio poses for two riders and one horse; mostly negative emotions as they're designed for two people fleeing on horseback. I think you could probably use them without the passenger as well. 🤔

The first six poses are all mix 'n' match: that is, you can use any horse pose with any rider pose and any passenger pose. The last four poses will not work as mix 'n' match. I tried to make it as clear as possible in use, but all-in-ones are included in case this is confusing!

They were made for the EA Western/English saddles and the passenger's inner thighs do clip into the back of the saddle, but it's not actually visible particularly if they're wearing jeans. I just know that they're clipping under there. 😌🤣
