Also I figured out the meta for why Martin!Doctor’s husband was named Lee, if we didn’t already.

Cus we already had a Lee in the Doctor Who Movie who was kinda the American!Master’s ‘companion’, and at the time American!Master/Lee was one of the fringe-slash-gag ships.

Dollars to doughnuts, Chibs named her husband Lee as a callback to that cus he’s a nerd, and it’s meant as yet another point to the Doctor and Master having their roles swapped during the Division’s Recycling (to go along with the handholding, sonic-bashing, different parent backstory, ‘rubbish schoolboy’, etc. stuff).

Someone needs to do an analysis on the way the Kung Fu Panda movies use old-fashioned vs. modern language ("Panda we meet at last"/"Hey how's it going") and old-fashioned vs. modern settings (forbidden-city-esque palaces/modern-ish Chinese restaurant) to indicate class differences in their characters, and how those class differences create underlying tensions and misunderstandings.

Every single time I reread A Study in Scarlet I am startled when halfway through it becomes deeply inaccurate america fanfiction. Like Holmes reveals the murderer and immediately the next chapter is waxing poetic about the harsh, barren landscape of the western (??) US.

One cannot truly forget the Murder Mormons, but I always put it out of my mind for long enough that the switch jumpscares me.

Friends, I have failed you all. I've seen a lot of posts over the last week with a lot of great biographical detail about many of the flyers and aircrew who've been name-dropped so far in Masters of the Air - and I haven't seen a single thing about the one name that is directly in the center of this blog's lane.

In Part 2, returning from their mission to Trondheim, Cleven and Egan walk into the Interrogation hut and Egan accepts a cup of coffee from a woman he thanks as Tatty. Later on, at the dance, James Douglass remarks that he will be 'coming in hot' on one of the American Red Cross women on the other side of the room, and one of his friends asks "General Spaatz's daughter? Or the other one?"

Katherine "Tatty" Spaatz was a member of the American Red Cross Clubmobile service and the daughter of General Carl "Tooey" Spaatz, who commanded the Eighth Air Force on its move to England. (General Spaatz later moved to overall command of the entire Army Air Forces in the Europe Theatre of Operations, or ETO. He is, as the kids say, rather important.)

But we're not talking about him here. We're talking about her.

Katherine was 22 years old when she arrived in Europe with the Red Cross. (One of her traveling companions that trip was Kathleen Kennedy, daughter of former U.S. Ambassador Joseph P Kennedy Sr., also coming to serve overseas with the ARC.)

The American Red Cross's mission in Europe had many facets during the Second World War - in addition to activities we might think of today, like collecting blood, providing disaster relief at home and running first aid seminars, they were responsible for collecting and distributing packages for Prisoners of War.

They also operated large canteens like the Rainbow Corner club, a recreational facility in London where soldiers on leave could get a room for the weekend, a bite to eat, and a number of other amenities. Smaller clubs called Donut Dugouts provided a space where a serviceman could always be assured of a cup of hot coffee, a donut, and a pretty girl to talk to, specially recruited for being friendly, fair, approachable, and specially trained to be the girl next door overseas. In addition to these more permanent installations, they also operated the Clubmobile service, a mobile version of their popular Dugouts that moved operations into retooled Green Line Bus Company buses to take donuts and a taste of home to the front line.

Tatty, as she was called, worked on the Clubmobile "North Dakota" along with Julia "Dooley" Townsend, Virginia "Ginny" Sherwood, and Dorothy "Mike" Myrick. Life Magazine did a full article on their clubmobile in February of 1943, which you can read online at the link. There is another lovely blog post with pictures here. She also worked for a time in a more permanent post at the USAAF base at Snetterton Heath, and was later sent to France. Wait, wait, wait. If White Martians are important for the life cycle of Mars how does M'gann leaving affect the planet?

So white martians are like cosmic trees: just because one tree is missing doesn't mean the planet is in trouble. As long as there are some white martians sustaining life on Mars, the planet will be okay. My'ri'ah would have to make an excuse for why M'gann is missing. Mars doesn't produce a fixed amount of white martians.

in fact, it's common for white martians to be brought on red martians' pilgrimage trips to Saturn or other planets to keep the crew well fed with familiar plants and fruits. Sometimes white martian seeds are smuggled out of Mars.

Such is the case for the Master Gardener, a green martian who was exiled from Mars for his crimes. He smuggled a handful of white martian seeds with him to Earth, training them to grow unique plants and control the weather in a town he resides in.

thinking about teacher!gale single dad!john… john’s son (maybe like 8? 9? 10yo?) is acting up and he has to go meet his teacher and he comes in a little late straight from work (he’s a lawyer and works insane hours which is part of the problem) and holy shit he’s blown away when he sees the new homeroom teacher who’s the most gorgeous man he’s ever seen and he flirts the whole time despite being able to tell gale is a bit annoyed/confused by him but john can tell he warms up to him a bit during their meeting, and because he wants to see the pretty blonde again asap he volunteers as a supervisor for a night school next week.

once the kids are asleep he keeps flirting until gale relaxes completely in his presence but when he asks for his number gale is hesitant because he’s not sure if it’s good idea to date his student’s parents but he promises to think about it.

john is also serious about being better at spending time with his son no matter how busy work gets but it doesn’t hurt he can bump into gale every now and then too when he picks him up at school. maybe there’s some kind of an incident or smth i haven’t figured it out completely yet but eventually gale agrees to give him his number.

on their first date john learns that gale wanted to be a teacher because he had an unsafe chilhood home and school was his safe space and he wants to provide stability and tools for a good life for kids of all backgrounds. their romantic (and sexual) tension is insane now that gale can be a bit more relaxed when they are outside of the school context but maybe right when john is about to ask him home his son calls that he’s had a nightmare and wants to come home from the sleepover he’s at, and he’s apologizing so much for having to cut the night short but gale’s just like bruh you being a good dad is literally the hottest thing i can think of if anything this is improving your chances.

anywayy i still don’t know completely what to do this other than sweet falling in love and the three of them becoming a family, i’m not very good with angst but i’d maybe like to try writing something challenging and bring some obstacles to the road too… some other parent blackmailing gale because he thinks john’s son is getting special treatement in class or smth and him freaking out because he doesn’t wanna mess up this kid’s life idk i just hc it would probably be a bad trigger for him because of his own dad :(

It truly means so much to me the way the white characters in The Acolyte aren't main characters, or if they do have a bigger role they are non-human characters like Jecki and Master Vernestra. Like for once it's not on sight that I clock tokenism or dehumanized BIPOC characters. For once in Star Wars I'm seeing a reversed ratio of white to non white. For so long it's been 4 white for every 1 non white character. I want to go back in time and tell the 8 year old me that our time is coming.
