Tommy had often wondered what life would be like if he had wings of his own. He had seen people walking down the street; long deep blue wings with flecks of white like stars, short black wings that seemed they would barely hold the persons weight and yet they did, flash golden wings that he was almost certain were not their natural colour but who was he to judge.
It wasn’t uncommon, something similar to the genes for hair colour or eye colour, every now and then you got the gene for wings, or maybe it was for horns, or antlers, hooves, any number of different traits and characteristics could be found among the sea of people he knew.
He often wondered what having wings would be like.
Turns out it would be quite inconvenient. Read more here!
Or, that fic where tommy wakes up with wings and needs some help figuring out how to use them! This was part of a found family event i did and the creators of the event as well as the person it is gifted to are tagged in the fic! Enjoy!!

i firmly believe that illumi is not deserving of a redemption: not only because what hes done thus far is beyond redemption, but i also believe it would not make sense for his character.
i also feel as though it wouldnt make sense for killuas character either. killuas whole journey throughout the story is centered around self worth, and to have him outright forgive illumi, one of if not the biggest motivator as to why said worth was absent to begin with, would flush all of killuas personal growth down the drain.
yes illumi was most likely abused himself if not more than his siblings, but abuse is abuse. he had the choice of breaking the cycle but chose not to. killua did. i feel that redeeming illumi would be a huge punch in the face to actual abuse victims, and i dont think a message like that would be good to portray.
just like how i think silva and kikyo shouldnt be redeemed either, considering that theyre most likely the main driving forces as to why the family dynamics are so fucked up. and even if in his eyes, why illumi does the things he does isnt classified as abuse but more so benefiting the family and kil, its still abuse at the end of the day, and this only further proves how warped his perspective and perception of how and why he does what he does and has done is. the dude’s too far gone.
instead i think they should expand more into not only his backstory but his emotions and outlook on the world, such as his relationships with his family, most predominantly killua, and even with hisoka. for example, (minor bojack horseman spoiler up ahead) the way bjhm treated beatrice and her backstory: they portrayed it in such a way where they werent excusing her actions, but as a way of explaining why she was the way she was and how she became the person that she was, while also sharing a tender moment between her and bojack before she passed (which is in reference to the nursing home btw not the icu LOL).
i feel like if we were to get an illumi arc (togashi i am on my knees) they should go down that route instead of a full blown redemption. because not only does illumi not deserve that, killua doesnt either. he does not need someone like that in his life whether illu has changed or not. because the damage has already been done.

The people have spoken! The bad ending to LoopJuice, “You And I Will Always Be Back Then”, is here! Ouch. (I’m so worried this sucks haha)
Please read the warnings/tags before proceeding! Here are the extras, for even more salt in the ouch.
- The song for this part’s title are from “Time Adventure”, specifically the version sung by Rebecca Sugar. PLEASE listen to that version before and/or after reading this for full emotional ouch. The lyrics for the title for about Lydia and Beetlejuice, and how them and their friendship/sibling relationship is in the past now. It will always be back then, but unfortunately not now. The extra lyrics I included in the start-of-work note, “It seems unforgiving when a good thing ends” is meant to reflect how Beetlejuice always felt like it was unfair that he got so little time with his family and happiness. The ones for the end-of-work note, “That’s why you and I will always be best friends”, is because Beej is still stuck living thirty years ago. (Perhaps literally ;) ) In his head, he and Lyds will always be best friends.
- The weird format - This whole work is meant to feel like accidentally listening in on a conversation you’re not supposed to hear, so I limited the physical descriptions and the internal thoughts as much as I could while still keeping it cohesive. I hope it works! I’m really worried it doesn’t and this sucks haha. (Also, the lack of internal POV thoughts helps me make sure there is little to no spoilers for the yet to be published parts of Time’s Arrow!)
- “Thought I’d find you up here.” - This first line, some of the dialogue throughout, and the whole general vibe are meant to embody two scenes from “BoJack Horseman” that really inspired this scene specifically. The last scene in the show, and this exchange from “The View From Halfway Down”. Warnings for talk of substance abuse and suicide attempts in those clips! That show heavily impacted me as a person and also how I write, so it felt fitting to continue to pay it homage. Maybe I do it too much.
- “Her monster” - This is a reference to a spoken line in the musical, where Lydia calls Beetlejuice “my monster”.
- “He was so… different. But so was she.” - Again, this is meant to feel like listening in on a conversation, so I limited the physical descriptions as much as I could. Beej’s brief description comes later, but Lydia does not get one. She has obviously aged, but she looks fantastic. She is wearing mourning clothes, including a veil. She still dyes her hair black, and it is longer than it used to be, but styled up. To Beetlejuice, she is still just his little sister, so he doesn’t have the time to process the changes, hence why it is not mentioned. Again, it isn’t mentioned, but she kept up the witch stuff, just not as intensely as she used to. It’s hard being the only witch in your coven.
- “Thir-… thirty.. thirty years?” - He does not know how much time has passed.
- “I-I wasn’t allowed to visit any sooner-” - I wonder what this means?
- “You… you left me.” - Again, a reference to a line in the musical.
- “She blew smoke in his direction, causing him to step back.” … “She blew smoke in his face once she was close enough, causing him to duck away and cough harshly.” - Yes, Lydia is aware of how triggering this is to him, but right here she is too angry to care. She will feel horrible about it later.
- “Sorry I let my family get attached, sorry I fell for your tricks!” - Lydia feels fully responsible for what happened. She feels like she’s the whole reason Beetlejuice and all of the shenanigans he brought along with him happened to her family.
- “Sorry I trusted a demon.” - This is a callback to something hurtful she said to Beej in Time is a Flat Cirlce. Ouch.
- “His voice was somehow impossibly rougher than she remembered.” … “He inhaled, softly. A wet little gasp.” … “.. wheezing out his words”… “He was wearing a thick black scarf, tightly wrapped around his neck in a way that was undoubtedly uncomfortable.” … “His chuckle was cut short by wet coughs.” … “.. as he took in weak, heaving breaths.” - His neck is still actively bleeding, he is covering it up with that scarf so she isn’t too freaked out. It hinders his ability to speak, hence why his voice is “rougher than she remembered”. It also makes it hard for him to function, hence all the wheezing and wet sounds, since, y’know, he’s bleeding significantly.
- “ “And I’m…” she inhaled deeply, looking out onto the ground far below them. “I’m glad I’m alive, I guess.” ” - Lydia is thinking about what would’ve happened if she had jumped off the roof here, and is genuinely glad she didn’t.
- “ “I’m glad I’m alive, I guess.” “… yeah. I’m glad you’re alive too, Lyds.” “I guess I’m glad you’re not dead-dead.” She took another drag of her cigarette. The demon remained quiet.” - Notice how Beetlejuice does not return the sentiment.
- “But his clothes were stained a dark russet brown, nearly entirely coating his clothing, sticking to his hair and smeared on his face.” - Yeah that is his blood. The weird placement of the blood stains is from being dragged through a pool of it.
- “His earrings were missing.” - Cyrus took the earrings Lydia, Barbara, and Adam gave him.
- “There was a significant gash on his right temple, still slowly dripping out fresh blood.” - This is from his tussle with Cyrus, but it was never really explained! “Beetlejuice felt something hard hit the side of their head before they could hit their mark.” This was Cyrus purposefully ramming his horns into their head!
- “His hair was entirely grey. No brown or green or any sort of rippling shade to be seen.” - Not just the grey that was spreading up from his roots. That was from stress. This is grey because of emotions. We’ve seen his hair go fully grey a few times before.
- “ “Yeah, what’d I tell ya? ‘Great witch’, ‘wonderful, weird goth adult’.” His chuckle was cut short by wet coughs. “… a local legend, scarin’ the kids, I bet.” “… I think I recall you saying I’d be a ‘sarcastic old bitty’. That’s probably more fitting.” ” - This is pulled straight from the ritual scene in Time is a Flat Circle, when Beetlejuice was speculating on what kind of adult Lydia would turn out to be.
- “… yeah, well… I guess some stupid part of me missed you too.” - Beetlejuice often mentioned how “some stupid part” of him wanted his mother to love him, wanted her approval. Lydia remembered that, and shares a somewhat similar sentiment about Beej. (Except she does not view him as an abuser)
- “Barbara and Adam moved on about ten years ago, when I got married.” - By “moved on”, she means beyond the Netherworld, to whatever afterlife lays beyond it. I plotted this before seeing Beetlejuice 2, and accidentally kinda predicted a popular headcanon? Barbara and Adam found fulfillment in helping raise Lydia, and were able to move on when they felt she didn’t need them anymore. Also, she did not marry Ash. It is not mentioned here, but they took the duffel bag and ran away shortly after Beetlejuice’s disappearance. Lydia got back into contact with them many years later, and they are distant friends.
- “The only reason I’m here and not at my own home is for Dad’s memorial service.” - AGAIN, PLANNED THIS BEFORE I SAW BEETLEJUICE 2! Whoops.
- “ “Didn’t even bother to ask about the veil or anything, huh?” “… you did… use to wear veils all the time.” ” - Kinda a cheeky joke about how movie Lydia wore a mourning veil for no reason in the movie. And she slayed.
- “… the Garden’s gone.” - Notice the capital ‘G’? Does the class have any ideas? Anyone notice any callbacks to the ridiculous chapter one of Time’s Arrow?
- “ “…. Are you happy, Lydia?” She seemed taken aback by this. She stammered, briefly, shrugging. “I-… is anyone?” ” - she isn’t happy.
- “ “Humor an old demon.” “… yeah. Okay.” Something weighed heavily on her shoulders, but she couldn’t quite place what. “I’ll tell everyone you said hi. Not to worry about you, that you’re happy, off scaring people and causing trouble like always.” She balled up her fists at her sides until her knuckles turned white. “… and.. I’m… happy. Despite everything.” “.. yeah?” “Yeah. I turned out okay.” His posture slowly relaxed. “I’m glad.” ” - Lydia realizes she can take some weight off of Beetlejuice’s shoulders by lying to him here. She can tell his time is probably limited, thanks to their remaining connection from the Seal and signing her name in his Book. She’s very mad at him, but she still loves him deep down.
- “The humid summer breeze was suddenly much colder.” - This is meant to play on the theme of warmth and love in LoopJuice as a whole.

More DP!Enid
(Dead plate)
I’m a little obsessed with thinking ab her so here’s some irrelevant stuff! (Totally irrelevant)
-
She wears diff earrings on her shift, like one day she will wear hearts, then suns, then clouds. Or really weird dangly ones, like once I had this teacher when I was younger who wore apple earrings that were weirdly realistic.
She has an abnormal interest in cats (kinda cannon) like she knows weird facts.
E: “Did you know 80% of ginger cats are male? Female cats have certain genes tha-“
W: “A table just walked in.”
E: “Do you think they like cats?”
W: “No, get to work.”
E: “Hrmgh.):”
She has skates (later on) that she covered in stickers
GLUED to her phone. Shift is spent glancing at her phone waiting for Ajax to text or Yoko to tell her that a girl in their group finally left.
Watched the Barbie movie and would NOTT shut about it. Got a poster in her room by working in a fast food job until her first pay check rolled in.
It’s an honest shock to everyone how she somehow pays her bills. Sometimes a little late, sure, but even that’s a surprise.
Pig tip jar that she literally takes everywhere, it’s called waddles (yes that’s a GF reference)
Really into lasagna and meat w gravy.
Garfield’s biggest fan?? Don’t ask.
W: “What.. are you wearing.”
E: “):??”
W: “Your shirt”
E: “OH!! It’s Garfield. You’d like him, he likes lasagna and hates Mondays!”
W: “… A cat that likes lasagna and hates Mondays seems very unrealistic. Cats have no perception of time, the closest they’ll get is having a weekly routine. Even then some cats sleep all day, so if they did have a perception of time, they’d still be confused on the day.”
E: “Yeah, but he’s a cartoon cat!”
W: “… my kitchen is that way. My guests have particular taste. Give it to the correct person. No matter how ‘unnatural’ they come across, do not scream.”
E: “Why would I scream?”
Something something BoJack Horseman.
Enid has emetiphobia.. emetephobia? Emitephobia… Emetphobia. Fear of throwing up. (Idk I can’t imagine her not having it)
Also totally unrelated dyslexia as well (totally not bc I’m probably gonna spell some of the stuff wrong and now I have a cover!!!)
Nails are always coloured. They had to be cut her for job, but she still colours them when she can!
When I draw her she always looks a lot like Rody without the top of her head showing.
Done for now, I’ll show you guys some drawings of Enid and my hand practice with her at her job. BYYYEEEE

So disguting to see Martells white stan acting like anti racist & POC allies because they stan fictional brown people (lbr Martells are clearly Catholic Italians) but so many of them are silent on the Palestinian genocide (but thankfully that means they wont use anymore the screenshot of GRRM saying he based Dorne on Palestine).
Tumblr media
the martells are not "clearly" catholic italians, they are actually based on the moors, which was a shorthand for "muslims" regardless of race, so it refers to an entire religious-ethnic group of the maghreb, al andalus, and malta, which is a wide swath of area but if you'll notice - it does not include Italy because we are in the Iberian Peninsula and not the Mediterranean. If we're talking "people we consider white that Dorne is based on" the answer is Wales not the Italians. There are Welsh Marches and Spanish Marches, Welsh rulers called themselves "Princes", they were culturally different from the rest of the Isles, etc. Also, being a hypocrite about Palestine isn't going to stop people from saying that Dorne is based on Palestine because that's not a fandom thing people made up, that's just the truth. It's literally right there in plain english on so spake martin:
Tumblr media
And beyond that - idk why you would say Dorne is Catholic Italy as if Oldtown and the Hightowers aren't right there being Medici as FUCK like come on now.
As for your other weird ass point...a lot of people in the imperial core - no, not just the USA, I will not let Canadians and Brits get away with pretending like they don't have western privilege, thanks - are uncomfortable with the idea that they benefit from the suffering of PoC in the third world, or that they may yet have some unlearning about their own complicity and ignorance to the sufferings of others. Yes, I find it annoying, frustrating, infuriating that someone can spend all their "fun" time critiquing the Targaryens for the Dornish Conquest or Dany for the mess in Meereen and Astapor yet are incapable of turning that criticism inwards because it might mean they have to think about parts of themselves and their privilege they don't want to, but you can say this about every fandom because what you consume does not necessarily mean you understand what you're consuming. Look at how Bojack Horseman essentially had to turn to the audience and say "Bojack is not a man you want to be like you fucking freaks" because the subtext was not sinking in. Look at how a bunch of Broadway stars got together to sing "Bring Him Home" as if Les Miserables isn't based off a true story where a group of oppressed people rebelled through violent action including kidnapping nobility and those of the royal family for ransom. The dissonance is everywhere; when I notice someone who seems too far gone into some bs racist colonizer mindset, I simply unfollow and/or block. It's just not worth my time to debate whether a genocide is a genocide.
Also, this is a really weirdly worded ask and I would deeply appreciate if people didn't do this in my ask box. If you want to genuinely discuss politics, fine, go hit up my main, if you want to genuinely discuss fandom racism or asoiaf in general, also fine, but whatever this ask is? It's tacky and I need you to really think about the way you're bringing a real life genocide going on right now that your tax dollars are paying for into this fandom nonsense.

Random takes on ahsoka ep 5
Okay actually spoilers this time
Thesis statement: Ep5 was absolutely ridiculous and I loved every second of it
For those wondering what it would look like if the peak of Zirakzigil and King’s Cross smashed into each other at a thousand miles an hour…
YASSSSS THIS IS THE ANGST CONTENT I SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED. I’m not even gonna think about it for a minute just gonna sit here and wallow
Ohhhh he’s got the early season CW armor on he’s just a little guy <3
[Referring to the Teensoka section] Man I was emotionally prepared to hate whatever this was gonna be but I really liked it. Like, multiple different character beats that all hit really well. Nice job guys.
When you’re 45 and just learning what intergenerational trauma is. Better late than never
Why is S7 Teensoka so short. I just think Ahsoka from ~S7 onward should be freakishly tall and yes I know Rosario Dawson isn’t super tall but let me have this
I guess there’s an argument to be made that all Ahsoka character beats get executed multiple times (lookin’ at you, Vader reveal) but guys. Guyyyyyyyys. How many times can she go swimming and then return as Gandalf the Orange because I’m counting three now (I feel like world between worlds and rebels finale are separate level-ups, but if you see them as one beat I’d throw Mortis into the mix). Admittedly part of that might be that I’ve been taking post-Rebels S2 Sith Temple Baptism as canon and I guess not everyone watching this show became completely feral in May 2016
This is totally unrelated but omigod those were Topps cards? The makers of Dinosaurs Attack? Universes are colliding for me rn
Huh we’ve never seen how her face and her montrals meet up before. And… I’m not sure I like it. Put the headband back on
Yeah I know we all knew the white robe was coming but Dave. Dave this is a lot. Like she has white gloves now? And white boots?? ([Channels Bojack Horseman] Do you get it? Do you get my joke?)
Also possibly unpopular opinion but I’m just sayin’ white isn’t her color. The combo with her montrals just makes her look washed out.
Alternative hypothesis: the white clothing is the spare outfit she hates but hasn’t gotten around to getting rid of yet and the grays are coming back as soon as they’re out of the drier
Alternative alternative hypothesis: Seatos’ ocean is 0.1% bleach.
Oh sweet baby Space Jesus she can do psychometry now. She hit level 20 at Malachor and just kept taking levels anyway. My blorbo is op and I can’t even be mad
I’m not even gonna touch “surviving without oxygen for several hours without even intentionally meditating”
Suddenly realized we’re more than halfway thru this show and we haven’t seen Thrawn and we still don’t have any substantial information about the Dark Jedi so like… who is the villain? Is it intergenerational trauma? Please tell me it’s intergenerational trauma
Why do space whales have baleen? Oh to filter feed on midichlorians. Never mind I retract my question
Aaaand Filoni just hit “Jonah” on his Biblical Hero Dartboard
So you wasted billions of dollars on this technology when you could have just asked a whale nicely? How embarrassing.
Come to think of it tho why didn’t Ezra just take a whale BACK? Then again if I start thinking too much about this it’s just gonna devolve into “How Rebels Should Have Ended”

(it randomly occurred to me to wonder if the anon who asked alastor to broadcast his birth live was referencing that bojack horseman bit about broadcasting an abortion live)
((I've never watched bojack horseman so if it was a reference, i didn't pick it up! Birth Broadcast Anon, are you around? Any commentary? (I've actually been hoping to hear back from Birth Broadcast Anon since Alastor broadcasted his prank birth vid!)
Now that I know that that's a thing, I kinda wish somebody HAD asked Alastor to broadcast an abortion live. Like, would that be an ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS thing to request, particularly from someone who's been talking about his baby like he's excited to have it? Yes! But it would be so atrocious that it'd be hilarious. And also, it would be VERY on par for an "online pornographic model getting wildly out-of-line comments from an anonymous fan, cranked up to 1000% because they're in Hell" interaction.))

pretty sure all of this is stuff that’s been said before, but yk i wanna join in
trigger warnings: drugs/alcohol, suicide, drowning
In Bojack Horseman, the second to last episode “The View from Halfway Down” explores Bojack’s mistakes and insecurities but it also explores more deeply the people in his life who died. And I can hold my peace no longer.
The dinner scene is particularly interesting to me, all the people who passed sitting at a table together eating. What they’re eating is more significant than people might think, as it relates to their death and parts of their life.
For starters, Bojack. Bojack’s plate is fixed with nothing but pills and a bottle of “water” (though i’m assuming it’s alcohol), aka what he took before he got into the pool and nearly drowned. He was spiraling.
I think the bottle of water does hold more significance than just a bottle of water. Earlier in the series, we find out that Bojack would often sneak alcohol onto the set of Horsin’ Around, classic alcoholic behavior yes, but it’s also a reference to Sarah Lynn.
When Sarah Lynn was ten years old, she got her hands on the bottle on set. Later on, she became an addict. I feel like that bottle being there is a reference to Bojack’s past mistakes but take that with a grain of salt.
Sarah Lynn is shown eating some sort of fast food, although some people say it’s the last thing she ate before she succumbed to her heroin overdose (which may very much so be the case) I think it’s interesting how she pointed out that her mother pointed out every carb she ate during her “Sexually Confident Virgin Tour”, it’s also very much so possible that she has fast food because it was a guilty pleasure.
Herb, who dies after beating cancer, has peanuts on his plate— something he is deathly allergic to. He died after getting into a car accident, fresh out of beating cancer, with a peanut truck. Not much more to say there.
Corduroy Jackson isn’t a character I remember much about, will have to go back and rewatch a lot of his moments, but he has a lemon on his plate— he died with a lemon when he performed his auto-erotic asphyxiation. Don’t ask what auto-erotic asphyxiation is, it was a weird episode.
Beatrice’s plate is bland, and boring. A boring meal, nothing fancy, nothing huge, and a plastic cup as a drink. She was sent to a nursing home by Bojack after he found out she’d been spiking Hollyhock’s coffee with chub-b-gone and Hollyhock overdosed on it. (Hollyhock survived, but has severe trauma from it), and it was likely the last meal she had before she died. Deserved. Very much so deserved that she died alone.
Crackerjack’s meal is another one that is very easy to explain. He has a can of rations, and if you remember, Crackerjack was a soldier in the second world war. That’s all he had to eat, and probably was also his last meal before he got shot.
Secretariat has alcohol in his coffee, obvious reasons why he does that, and two eggs. In the show, Secretariat is based off the real horse but in this world he is an athlete. A high protein meal for him is reasonable. And on top of that, Secretariat died by suicide, so there’s not much more he could have that would reference his life and death.
More things from the episode i notice are how the conversation turns to suicide after secretariat showed up, Secretariat died by suicide. Herb admits that he thought about suicide after he got fired from Horsin’ Around, ultimately he continued to find simple reasons to stay alive. Secretariat criticizes him for not going through with it due to his own decision to end his life on his own terms. This may be hinting towards Bojack’s struggle with suicidal ideation. Finding reasons to stay, and then getting mad at himself for not doing it. And in every suicide attempt of Bojack’s he seeks a way out to make it out alive. js think that’s neat.
Also “A song you taught me when I was small” is a line Sarah Lynn sings during her performance. Her entire song is about legacy, i would get into it more but we’d be here for several more paragraphs. Bojack essentially ruined his legacy, while Sarah Lynn died young so her legacy is positive and lives on. But “A song you taught me when I was young” references Don’t Stop Dancing. How Bojack, when she was a young child, told her she had to give the people what they want. To put on a show, even if it empties her until there’s nothing left to empty. Lovers would leave her, friends would leave her, but her fans were forever. And it’s sad that she carried his words until she died. Stardom is what killed her… but also the heroin, the heroin also very much so killed her.
Back to the dinner scene thing, In the beginning of the dinner scene Butterscotch, Bojack’s dad, shows up. Kind of. He’s merged in a way with secretariat, so Secretariat is who we see. This makes sense because growing up, Butterscotch was never that present in Bojack’s life. Secretariat was someone Bojack looked up to. He was like a dad figure to him, although Bojack never knew him personally- just off of TV, but Secretariat was still an idol. It makes sense why Secretariat “replaced” Bojack’s father in this scene.
If I rambled any more we’d be here forever so I’ll end it there 😻 thx for coming to my ted talk

That’s Too Much, Man!
The Lynn-Horseman Tragedy
Tumblr media
These are just my thoughts on Sarah Lynn’s life of fame and addiction, as well as a look into how Sarah Lynn’s character highlighted the shittiness of Bojack’s own.
*MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD*
(Yes even from season 6 stfu. I’ll reference what I want)
Tw death
Tw drugs and alcohol
Tw mental illness
:readmore:
A break down of season 3 episode 11, “That’s Too Much, Man!” and the events preceding Sarah Lynn’s tragic death.
(God I sound like a stuffy white man writing an essay on the obsoletion of letter writing, I swear its actually interesting. Well actually…)
Some of my insights are also inspired by Jonny 2 Cello’s video essay on the episode. Give it a watch.
Sarah Horseman: Bojack as a failed father figure
Bojack and Sarah Lynn first meet on the set of Horsin’ Around where he plays her adoptive father. So from the outset they’ve been established in a father daughter relationship. All subsequent moments between them in the series show them try to emulate this relationship in real life but in an inevitablly more perverse manner. Yep, they fuck. (Kind of mirroring Sarah Lynn’s relationship with her actual step father but no one’s ready for that discussion.)
When Bojack’s life takes a turn for the worse, he takes it out on her and delivers his infamous lines to s young sarah lynn that “don’t stop dancing” which she then lives by-trying to do anything to stay relevant.
He does this in the most stunning parallel to his own childhood. He relays the same sentiments his mother did to him while he too, like Sarah Lynn, his scared under a table, effectively passing along his trauma to his own “daughter”. Sarah Lynn’s scene taking place on a TV set adds a layer of devastating irony that Bojack hides behind the veneer of hating his mother to avoid seeing that he’s actually turned into Beatrice Sugarman.
Tumblr media
This episode finds Bojack seeking out Penny (the 17 year old girl he almost molested in season 2) to make amends and ends up exposing her to more trauma. The fact that he does this with Sarah Lynn at his side is a visual representation of his blindness (haha see what I did there?). He goes and retraumatises a girl with the girl he already messed up at his side The frustrating irony of that just doesn’t click for him.
Both of them end up back at the bench they’d sat on in season one after a montage of “daddy daughter” activities except now they end up there in the middle of a months long drug bender. Another visual representation of how Bojack has failed Sarah Lynn as a father.
Tumblr media
During their spiel of making amends, Bojack approaches all the people he’s done wrong and doesn’t once ask Sarah Lynn if there’s someone she needs to see. The episode also sees Bojack suffer blackouts after which Sarah Lynn informs him of their activities undertaken at bojacks insistence. Sarah Lynn tries to talk about how she never wanted to be in the industry and bojack calls her depressing and shuts her down. At another point she expresses her desire to study architecture and he ignores her once again.
Perhaps the most heart breaking culmination of selfishness is the scene where Sarah Lynn dies. Her last words are “I wanna be an architect” and instead of even some inane words of agreement, Bojack launches into a speech about how it is only the moment they’re sharing is what matters; how they don’t need to worry about being forgotten. Although beautiful and well delivered, this speech falls on deaf ears and not just because Sarah Lynn is dead. Sarah Lynn never feared being forgotten, in fact it was ensured that she wouldn’t be as she’d won an Oscar earlier in the episode. It was Bojack who always had that fear so in her last moments he’s reassuring no one except himself.
Tumblr media
It is through Bojack’s repeated failures as a father figure to Sarah Lynn that the inherent selfishness of his personality is highlighted.
The Life and Death of Ophelia Lynn
The beginning of the episode shows a painting of Ophelias death hanging above Sarah Lynn’s bed with her body replaced with Ophelia’s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Following is what Shakespeare wrote of Ophelia’s death
Fell in the weeping brook. Her clothes spread wide,
And mermaid-like awhile, they bore her up.
Which time she chanted snatches of old tunes,
As one incapable of her own distress,
Or like a creature native and endued unto
that element. But long it could not be
Till that her garments, heavy with their drink,
Pulled the poor wretch from her melodious lay
To muddy death.
These lines fit Sarah Lynn almost perfectly. It was superficial things like her fame and material things that bore Sarah Lynn up at first. It was her music career that was her “melodious lay” but she just did not know how to process her emotions so became “incapable of her own distress” and turned to drugs. Finally, its a tragically beautiful pun to see the drink (the river) that drenched Ophelia’s clothes was actually the drink (alcohol) that took down Sarah Lynn ; the first harmful substance she was introduced to was Bojack’s vodka.
The Inevitability of Sarah Lynn
Her first foray into the world of drugs and alcohol is actually what brings me to the point of the inevitability of her death. And no this isn’t really going where you think it is.
From the beginning we’ve been getting hints at Sarah Lynn’s early death. She predicts it herself in season 1 that she’ll die “tragically young”. She makes it clear that she’s not in a place where she wants to grow as a person in that very same episode and in this one displays more evidence of her stunted growth. When she asks bojack if she should go back to school, she formulates a fantasy for herself where she’s a spy in the morning and a high end call girl at night while also being an architect. She doesn’t care about the logistics of how this would come about when bojack questions her on them so its a classic kiddy fantasy. This just showed how she wasn’t allowed to grow and mature and wouldn’t be doing so further either.
There is also the question of her consciousness during the drug bender. The serene montage in the beginning of the episode shows sarah Lynn happy and sober and even showcases her architectural skills through the ingenious design of her home. But the Disney princess esque quality of the montage shows how unrealistic it is and that very fantasy is shattered as the paparazzi follow her into her home and invade her privacy. It just shows that sobriety hasn’t solved all her problems. The lack of hesitantcy she shows before jumping back into drugs when bojack calls shows that she always expected to land back in the thick of it. That those nine months were a respite, she never believed her sobriety to be a road to a better life. She simply didn’t believe in one. A far cry from 2007 Sarah Lynn who had all her positive self talk mantras stuck to her wall.
Tumblr media
But bojack raises a pertinent concern that was sarah Lynn actually doomed as everyone thought? Or did he doom her? Bojack’s forgotten vodka bottle was her first introduction to recreational substances at a very young age (10 or 12 I think) and in the end she overdosed on heroin with Bojack’s face on it. This is not to say that he is to be held sole accountable for her death. He enabled her at every turn because she did the same for him. Be it drugs, sex or even living his daddy daughter fantasy. They were locked in this cycle of toxic enabling that was started and then broken by bojack. Through her death. It may not have been necessary for Sarah Lynn to die in all alternate universes but it was necessary for bojack to witness it. He’d been there through her fall, had participated in it. It was only fitting that he participate in the climax. It’s why she leads the dance performance in The View from Halfway Down (season 6) so she can witness his climax.

RIP Sarah Lynn
RIP Bojack’s humanity

About Me
Why am I doING THIS FUCK HOW DO YOU WRITE THESE
Uhhh sup, y’all can call my Casey or Rex. I’m 21 (birthday is May 29th), a woman, and I like to draw and play vidya gamez. I’m also autistic so if I ever seem awkward in an interaction, that’s probably why lmao. Most of my blog consists of the stuff you’d typically expect on a tumblr blog; funny posts and fandom stuff. It is also worth noting that as I am an adult, this blog will occasionally contain content with adult themes.
This blog is basically just for my niche interests/hyperfixations and random shit. On this blog, you’ll find (almost exclusively reblogged) content for the following:
Corpse Bride (I’m most known for this hyperfixation)
Popee the Performer
Pokèmon
Doki Doki Literature Club (Yuri IS best girl and I WILL fight you in a Denny’s parking lot over this)
Breath of the Wild (Yes my favorite champion is Mipha, no I am not ok)
Danganronpa (mostly V3 but sometimes the other games as well)
Warrior Cats (Runningnose is my favorite character)
Minecraft
Left 4 Dead
Criminal minds
Here’s some other things I’m interested in but either haven’t really had a chance to dive into, or aren’t hyperfixations:
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Tales From Moominvalley (I’m also somewhat interested in The Moomins Return!)
Beastars
ENA
Payday (the second game, specifically)
Bojack Horseman
The Walten Files
Harmony and Horror
Five Nights at Freddy’s
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
SCP Foundation
Sally Face
Poppy Playtime (wanna be clear that no, I do not support the creators morally and have no plans to support them financially- but the game is cool and the talent that the devs put into it is worth acknowledging!)
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (I’ve only watched the anime tho so I’m currently clueless abt anything past Stone Ocean lmao)
The Blacklist
One Piece (RIP Ryunosuke ;-; I promise that’s not a spoiler lmao)
Zombieland Saga
My ask box is always open! Whether you wish to discuss theories or opinions about a shared fandom, get to know me better, or anything else, you’re always welcome to send something my way! I love and am honored when people are interested in my ramblings, so never worry that you’re bothering me or anything, I promise you’re not.
Sometimes you’ll occasionally see some random tags on a post I’ve rebloged. This is a guide to what they mean!
‘Favs’: my favorite posts! Sometimes they’re fandom related, sometimes I just think they’re funny.
‘S.I’: stands for “self indulgent”, it’s basically a tag of me being thirsty for fictional characters (mostly Victor Van Dort). Fair warning, a good portion of it is NSFW because I have brain rot and need to be banished to the shadow realm bc horny jail isn’t enough for me anymore.
‘Answered asks’: every ask I’ve answered, compiled under a tag for your convenience! If you’re interested in my thoughts/opinions/theories/etc about corpse bride, this tag is a good place to start.
‘Might come in handy’: things that I want to save incase I need them later. Mostly drawing references/tutorials, but there’s some other things scattered about this tag as well.
‘Vent tag’: A tag where I can reblog posts with ideas or feelings I strongly relate to; I tag all my negative reblog posts with this. It will likely contain themes of depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidal ideation, etc. If this sort of content is a trigger, I would recommend blacklisting this tag.
‘A hot original on tungle dot hellsite’: all of the posts that I’ve made! This tag is a WIP so bear with me lol.
Also, please note that I am only human, and, again, autistic. This means that I may sometimes say or do the wrong thing. If I do this, it is probably because of human error, rather than malice. Please assume this is the case and let me know so I can correct my mistake. I try to make sure I don’t reblog from anyone sketchy but sometimes I can’t find a post anywhere else so if that occurs, reblogging does NOT equal endorsement here!!
Whelp, that’s about all I can think of for now. I’ll probably update this post as time goes on! Thanks a lot for reading; I hope you enjoy your visit to my little corner of the internet! Stay as long as you need, traveler /ᐠ๑•ω•ᐟ\ฅ

Favorite Songs #70-61
My official list is always changing, with me moving songs around or adding/removing them as needed, but I’m going to go through the list as it goes right now.
#70: Bohemian Rhapsody- Queen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nxrYwT0SIo
What can I say? This is just one of the most fun songs in history.
#69: Jesus of Suburbia- Green Day
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_uAONQ32SE
I grew up in the suburbs, so this song is... nostalgic, let us say. I actually wrote once in a Discord server about how this served as inspiration for the novel I'm currently writing. This is what i wrote on June 22, 2021:
"While part of its own story/concept album, a lot of the bits and pieces of lyric in this song seem to resonate strongly with the early story beats of my web novel, especially a particular character's journey (Zoe's.) As I said before, my story takes place in Suburban America, and this song (by my interpretation, at least, it's a bit more of a doozy) is about someone raised in the suburbs who came to resent them and the toxic traditionalist values they were taught. The song itself can be interpreted as the main character breaking with their religious beliefs, but in my story this beat is somewhat repurposed, as it is about the character discovering a deeper truth to her religious beliefs that was being obscured by her upbringing."
Couldn't put it better than that. Auto-fellatio aside, let's move on.
#68: San Lorenzo- Pat Metheny Group
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RrUS2N2MyI
Get used to seeing this guy's name because he's going to be on here a lot. This is one of the most relaxing and peaceful songs ever. It's always great to listen to when I'm feeling stressed, or just at any time really.
#67: Desperado- The Eagles
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aelpqWEBHR4
A touching song about a self-designated loner.
#66: Epitaph- King Crimson
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXrpFxHfppI
Omg Jojo reference??? This is a beautiful song about feeling confused and lost in a world that seems doomed. It got me through a tough time not too long ago. Judging by the comments section of the video, I'm not the only one.
#65: Every Summer Night- Pat Metheny Group
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KaBbwRiAO4
This song is difficult to describe. It has a very unique feel that is quite nostalgic, hopeful, and just cool. This song also properly introduced me to Pat Metheny when I played the Bob Curnow arrangement of it in high school jazz band.
#64: Dying in L. A.- Panic! at the Disco
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iahWWAr82Q0
I actually kind of glossed over this song at first when I listened to this album, but one day it just managed to hit me right, and now it's my favorite song from it. It reminds me a lot of Bojack Horseman. I find it really touching how it conveys the hope of someone new on the scene in LA alongside the feeling of disillusionment of a longtime devotee.
#63: Kitchen Sink- Twenty One Pilots
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gcNBMMQIMk
This song connects to me since I certainly feel like I am a kitchen sink in some ways. I've always felt like a lot of the beliefs/feelings I have contradict themselves, and sorting all of that out is like its own day job. As a result I often feel as if I never truly fit in anywhere, and my only option is to forge my own path. I don't think that's what the song is supposed to mean, but the song itself also says "a kitchen sink to you, is not a kitchen sink to me," so I think that's okay.
Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)
-Walt Whitman, Song of Myself
#62: Quartet- Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-thazivcnCw
This is the first of many, many Yes songs on this list, as they're more or less my favorite band. (This officially isn't a Yes song, but come on, it is.) It's a curious one, a very cutesy song that has lyrics which I have always interpreted to be religious. I particularly like the third and final section, it is one of the prettiest passages of music I've ever heard.
#61: The Court Of The Crimson King- King Crimson
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukgraQ-xkp4
There's a reason why this is one of the most famous prog rock songs of all time. It has a sense of epicness and grandeur to it that makes it very easy to picture the titular court. I like how the song sort of has a fake out ending, before starting the famous "dance of the puppets" segment.
