“You are the only person,” Susan said. “You are the only person who believes this is right. You are the only person who could have even considered this.”
“Alright, let’s do this.” Vati burst into the common area, swinging the door wide enough Susan didn’t have to catch it. “Who thinks we should start the PR plan?”
“Vati, this plan will destroy your ability to be superheroes. Steven would never—”
“Steven is not here. All in favor of the PR plan?” Vati raised her hand. Liz mirrored her. Jim looked distinctly uncomfortable.
“Liz!” Susan snapped.
“You cannot be surprised I want to burn everything down.” Liz conveyed a shrug moving only her eyebrows.
“All against?” Susan raised her hand. No one else did. “Jim!”
“I am… abstaining,” Jim said.
“You’re what?”
“Wonderful, we won.” Vati sat primly on the couch. “Let’s get started.”

summary: dating headcanons w/ remus lupin
a/n: hello!! this is my most recent fic on this account and my first Marauders fic, so sorry if this is bad!! also, please keep in mind that even though i'm writing a fic about something tied to the Harry Potter universe, this does NOT AT ALL mean i like JK Rowling. i've liked her books since i was a child and have been separating the art from the artist for quite some time when it comes to this. also, i've written Remus in more of a modern situation, so keep that in mind :)
tags: @back-totheoldhouse @daemontargaryennn @o-kye @unbeleevable @mochamuff1n @call-me-frosting-or-not-idc @dangerouslyyour (this is me just guessing who would be interested in this, please let me know if you would like to be removed/added from the taglist!!)
warnings: nicknames with "girl" in them but otherwise gn!reader, mentions of crying, mentions of scars
boyfriend!remus who's memorized how you like your coffee or tea. or if you don't like either, he's memorized your favorite drink and has perfected it every time he makes it. you tell him it's not needed, that you can make drinks yourself, but he says it's worth it just to see the smile on your face.
boyfriend!remus who wouldn't dare tell you to cover up with a dress or outfit you're wearing when you go out ("any guy who tells their girlfriend/partner to cover up because it makes him uncomfortable or insecure instantly just proves he has a fragile ego accompanied by a micropenis.") and he'll only suggest a jacket if he knows it'll be cold outside. if you're happy in what you're wearing, why should he stop you?
boyfriend!remus who reads the books you're reading to have an extra thing to talk to you about and to ensure he understands what you're describing when you rant about how much you either love it or hate it. "yeah I know, I can't believe he did that!" "seriously, the way the writer set up the plot is terrific." "what was the author thinking? the plot makes no sense."
boyfriend!remus who always gives you his clothes. his soft beige knit sweater? of course you can wear it to our date. you need to borrow his beanie because it's cold outside? please do. you want to wear his shirt to bed? just keep it, he thinks it looks 10x better on you.
boyfriend!remus who takes you on all sorts of dates. library dates, lego building dates (which turn into laughing hysterically because one of you doesn't understand the instructions and the other one does understand, but can't find the right piece), cafe dates, aquarium dates, baking/cooking dates, late night walk/drives dates...the list goes on (i will happily elaborate on any of these if asked). he may or may not stalk your pinterest to find out what dates you like
boyfriend!remus who subtly shows you off to the marauders. he's usually a little bit touchy with you in public (a hand on the small of your back or intertwined with yours, his arms around your waist or shoulders, etc.), but he does it more around his friends. it's not any sort of intentional possessive thing (like "grrr my bbg is mine you can't have her raaah"), he just likes people knowing he has a gorgeous partner :)
boyfriend!remus whose room is littered in random trinkets, some of which he'll randomly gift to you. a silver pocket watch he found with intricate details because he thinks you'd like it. a rock or crystal he says looks like your eyes. a flower that he found because he remembered the one time you said "what a pretty flower" when you accompanied him on a walk. a stuffed animal he found at a yard sale because it was your favorite animal. the list goes on.
boyfriend!remus who mainly shows love through acts of service and physical touch. your shoe's untied? he's getting down on his knee to tie it. your books are a bit heavy? he'll carry all of them for you. you're not feeling good? he's doing your homework.
boyfriend!remus whose nicknames for you are mainly "dove/dovey", "baby", and "darling". he calls you "sweet girl/pretty girl" when you're sick, under the weather, or sad, "my love/my dearest" when he knows you're upset, and "sweetheart" when you're in an argument.
boyfriend!remus who would be terrified of showing a lot of skin around you because of his scars mainly because he doesn't want you to be disgusted. he knows deep down that you wouldn't, but it's a deeply-rooted fear for him.
"Remus, your friends have scars. Does that make them ugly or bad people?"
"No."
"Some of the teachers you like have scars. Does that make them ugly or bad people?"
"No."
"I have scars. Does that make me ugly?"
"Of course not, dove."
"So then why do you think scars make you ugly if they don't make anyone else you care about ugly?"

people started asking crane (Max’s friend) on stream if Lestappen (Charles and max) is real. I think he was like “I shouldn’t be furthering/entertaining this” (I forgot what he said word for word). People took it as something to be excited about, that the drivers are aware of the ships and all, but idk. I think fandoms are getting too bold for my liking. I have no problem with shipping, but this parasocial behaviour is out of hand. I saw this when 1D was still a group (with Harry x Louis shippers harassing Louis to the point where he got so upset when the ship was referenced in the popular show Euphoria), I’ve seen it with Kpop in which idols have stopped hanging out publicly because fandoms get out of hand (a girl in the group Aespa had a boyfriend earlier this year and fans got very upset because they shipped her and another member and they broke up. A few years ago, 2 members of two different kpop groups (SNSD and EXO) dated and the girl got harassed at the airport even). And now this.
Fandoms get so parasocial so quickly, it’s insane. It’s not new behaviour, but it’s strange.
exactly, this isn't new behavior. but i feel like it's become more emboldened with how much more "online" both fans and companies/groups are.
more under the cut, because this is a long one....
i also think it ties into this notion that i've been seeing online about how fans have this feeling to be "right" both with rpf and fiction as well. that their theories, opinions and whatever else is "correct". i've seen this with like pieces of media like steven universe and even star wars. like fandom isn't fun anymore, it has become this weird one up over each other. i honestly don't know when this changed, my guess is around the pandemic when it seemed like people were more logged into the internet. but, i could be wildly off with that. (if you have an idea, i'd love to know). it just feels stupid in so many ways how fandoms are structured. even if you're not the "best" artist or writer, people can't have FUN in fandom - of course that doesn't mean it has to be absolved criticism. you can have fun and still call out hate within spaces. the issue with formula one (along with k-pop like you mentioned, anon), is that these aren't characters. this isn't arguing in the tags over is finnpoe or reylo is more valid or legitimate within the narrative. these are REAL people, with REAL friends, families and partners.
it's this weird push to have someone's theory - and while i have a soft spot for lestappen, it is at the end of the day nothing more than fan theory - be confirmed. also personally, if hattie (oscar's sister) or crane (max's friend) "outed" them, i would be horribly fucking offended on oscar/max's behalf. to have someone you TRUST just out you like that. it's sick. maybe it's because i worked in queer spaces from high school all the way through uni, and the number one rule no matter WHAT, is you never out someone. even if the question is harmless and the person asking has no ill intention. you never out another person, because it's not YOUR coming out. so the fact that fans are near begging these people to OUT their loved ones, is not only a level of delusion that i can't ever comprehend. but, also it could honestly, ruin that interpersonal relationship.
so like even if a driver is queer, whoever it may be. could be a driver from the 90s, could be a driver today, it could be a driver in five years, i don't want someone else in their life outing them. because that's THEIR story. and fans need to realize that. bothering crane or hattie or alexandra (i've seen that too) - isn't helping anyone and it makes you look unhinged and weirdly alienates not only the driver but their loved ones. YES, they knew it exists, it is EVERYWHERE. but shoving it in their faces doesn't help. and you're never going to get the confirmation because there is a high chance that their not even queer to begin with. and if they are, NOT OUR CONCERN
i don't have a problem writing or consuming rpf, it is not a crime nor do i think it should be stopped. like HAVE FUN. but you have to realize that it's not like debating star wars or marvel or whatever other piece of fictional media. formula one is REAL, they are not actors. they are athletes, and unless you want all rpf to be shut down some how. i suggest the likes of some of ya'll need to understand that there are different boundaries. and respect them.
i know they're all millionaires, but they still breathe and bleed as a friend of mine once said. it's fun to put them in little scenarios in fanworks, but just keep it out of their direct attention. there are unspoken boundaries, that some of ya'll need have said to you apparently.
asking oscar issac if he THINKS that finnpoe is real is VERY different than asking someone's sister if she thinks her REAL LIFE BROTHER is fucking his REAL LIFE TEAMMATE. - people's relationships have turned to ash over insistent rpf in their faces all the time.
my advice at the end of the day is: have fun, don't write or draw it because you want confirmation that it's a real relationship. write or draw it because you're having fun. fandom is about making friends and shipping in whatever context is about finding a slice of community on the vast internet, not cracking the code of if it is a real relationship. - bunny.

Adding onto my previous rant cuz these tags refueled my fire for a more cohesive rant.
First off: People call Planes 2 a Cars 3 ripoff?? HUH??? Where TF is that argument coming from? But I guess it ties into the second point, I've also noticed a lot of people are so quick to dismiss both Planes movies really easily, (not helped by cartoon reviewers who also dismiss these movies)
I’ll state my bias, I personally enjoyed Planes more as a kid, and have fond memories of them. Are the Planes movies perfect? No, but they are just as valid films as the Cars movies. plane kids deserve movies just as much as car kids.
When it comes to critiquing the films there are some valid critiques but most people don't go that route to justify their hatred for the films. First if you’re going to critique the films you should at least categorize it correctly.. Like people calling it a ripoff are not just wrong because of how different Cars and Planes are, they’re also wrong because Planes is a Spinoff. It takes place in the same universe that follows different characters and a different area of the world. Forgive me for bringing up the controversial franchise but that's like calling Helluva Boss a Ripoff of Hazbin Hotel, like that’s just not true??
Secondly, Planes and Cars have very different themes and the protagonists go on very different journeys, and I feel like people calling Planes a copy is a by-product of people missing the whole point of Cars 1.
Cars 1 isn't about racing. What I mean by that is the film doesn't really revolve around McQueen preparing for and participating in a race like most racing films do. Yes there is a time between the three way tie and the tie breaker race, but McQueen spends that time in Radiator Springs, fixing the road he broke. Along the way he learns to slow down, appreciate the smaller parts of life, that you can't always be a one man show and that winning isn't everything. The King even foreshadows the Lesson Mcqueen is going to learn at the end of the intro race. McQueens conversation with mater and later with Doc are both good examples of McQueen maturing as a person, being less of an asshole and letting people help him. When he loses his mojo and motivation for the race you can literally see it come back when he sees his friends and by implementing what he’s learned from Doc. At its barest bones, Cars is about a celebrity learning to be humble and winning not by physically passing the line, but by being a good sport. That is the theme and message of the first Cars.
Planes on the other hand is more of an underdog racing film. Being about Dusty trying to overcome what those around him keep telling him to be. Throughout the film Dusty is almost always constantly being reminded he’s a crop duster, he isn't built for speed and that he should stick to crop dusting. He’s told this so much it frustrates him, and you can see this in his conversation with Skipper when he gets chosen. (i used that clip on the previous post)
You can tell in his voice that Dusty is frustrated, he KNOWS he’s a crop duster, he doesn't need people to keep telling him he’s very much aware of that fact. But you can tell he’s un fulfilled, he’s tired of doing the same thing for years as he’s put it, he wants to race because he wants to fulfill a dream of his, in his home you can see the racing posters and figures to show how important this dream is to him. At the start of the film his goal isn't really to win, but to prove he can do it. It's here where the two films’ themes really diverge.
Like I've mentioned Planes does have some genuine critiques, like the weird military ending (not even I can explain why) or the plot hole surrounding Skipper’s time in the navy yet only having one medal? Even if he did only one mission I'm sure he would have had a few more, considering the age he’s implied to be? Like he would have had to do quite a bit before becoming a flight instructor correct? I do love Skip but i think they tried to re-create Doc’s Backstory when in context it doesn't really work, keeping your racing past a secret is different than repressing your military service, etc, But these are conversations for another day
My point with bringing these up is that some people when critiquing Planes tend to dismiss it as a cars clone and call it a day or pull points that arent relevent to the film, this is especially true with Planes: Fire and Rescue, ( PFR ) and comparing it to Cars 3
First, saying this is a copy of cars 3 is crazy, especially when Planes Fire and Rescue came out first,
Plus while in both films the MC is forced to stop racing, in Cars 3 McQueen keeps trying to prove he can still do it, Dusty essentially becomes disabled since his gear box is out of production and while he tries to go McQueen’s route to prove he still can race at first it doesn't work out.
On a surface level, the films are about how life doesnt always go the way we want it, but they handle it differently. While McQueen tries to continue the Racing life and prove he's still got it and eventually staying with Racing, in PFR Dusty physically cant but learns that even with his busted gearbox, he cant let it stop him from doing something esspecially when it comes to firefighting
This moment with Blade showcases this
This is what makes these films different, at least to me. and yeah my bias might be showing as I am not the hugest fan of Cars 3, but It annoys me that people "analyse" and critique Planes when they only under stand both Planes and Cars on a surface level. Or just go with what the cartoon reveiwers say about them. (Like saying Fire and Rescue is propaganda but we're not gonna go into that)
TLDR: Planes are underrated and people need to stop calling the films cars clones because it proves they missed the point of both

Sentinel 9.3
Y'know, the irony here is that as I'm writing this post I've just started an online course with video lectures.
Solid bit of establishing characterization, an easy display of people's emotional ties and states.
Parahuman science must be so fucking hard to work with, honestly. Your subject matter is made up of a bunch of people with trauma-activated abilities that actively defy physics or other laws of reality, combination of psychology and whatever the hell you call studying outliers in how the fucking universe works.
Also glad people aren't just content to let the matter of parahuman origins end at "they just started happening." I know they haven't cracked the how or why of it in thirty years but I also know they crack it some time in the next two-ish years of canon, which should be interesting.
Also also, the inclination towards combat and conflict is... I know it's not going to be a long time until we talk about the "why" of that one either, but when we do I have notes for the designer(s) on these things
Oh, okay, so trigger events are talked about in a 100-level course, and Taylor straight up didn't know about them. Interesting? She really didn't give that much of a shit about cape stuff before stumbling into the life of a supervillain, huh.
Correlation between physical trauma -> physical powers and psychological trauma -> mental powers is interesting as well, although that leaves plenty of room for the edge cases. Glory Girl is actually the prime example there, too, brute and mover seem like the obvious tags but that doesn't cover the aura, which is I guess master? I'm less and less convinced that it was really just a foul in basketball that made her trigger tbh.
Also: I cannot even fucking imagine what the studies must be like about the New Wave families. Imagine writing your fucking thesis on the Dallon-Pelham Torment Nexus. Imagine being Victoria, Amy, Crystal, or Eric, and your family is being taught about in classes because of how "good" it is at inflicting superpowers on you. No I will not entertain the idea that either family is normal, parahuman psychology has so far shown zero signs of being healthy for anybody and it's not going to start holding back when it comes to child-rearing.
I'm not unsympathetic to what Clockblocker is stewing over, but the PRT can't let these kids dedicate every waking hour to crisis management; there will be a day where they're not dealing with a drowned city, and they might as well get ready for it now, and take time off from trudging through muck and mayhem as they do it.
Narrowing my eyes at the witch burning thing but I'm not going to harp on whatever the hell's going on there.
I think the gender divide makes sense but I don't know if it holds totally consistent in-story; the pre-Leviathan Wards and Protectorate ENE definitely leaned more male than female in its numbers, Merchants and ABB are two men to one woman, Empire is... eight men to seven women I think? I think as of right now the only teams we have that even have more women than men are Undersiders, Travelers, Faultline, and New Wave.
This is probably more math than I should be doing but whatever, don't use math in your story if you don't want someone checking it.
That's the same thing as Circus, right? Interesting that it's a known phenomenon.
He's doing his best, be nice.
Bunch of people are gonna be really annoyed when it turns out where powers come from because there's no way they could predict it from where they're standing.
Hwoof.
Oh, so that's Clockblocker's trigger event and power explained all at once, isn't it? I don't know if it's stated explicitly but "buying time in every way except for the one that matters the most to you" sounds like the kind of monkey's paw shit that powers love to do.
Now see, there's an interesting dilemma, isn't it. Family teams are all well and good (allegedly, given how parahumans work) but the moment one or more members die all of a sudden it's that much more fucked up for everybody. Even if the team persists past losing Manpower and Shielder there's no way they're gonna hold together after Amy & Vicky's Nightmare Extravaganza. One of the most notable independent teams in the setting with over a decade of experience, and in the span of a few months they're going from apex to nonexistence. I don't really have it in me to weep for the adults, see above suspicions about Torment Nexus, but I feel awful for the kids. Crystal is gonna be the last one standing until, what, Ward? That's gotta fuck you up good. Poor fucking girl.
And then the portraits. Hoo boy.
The portraits thing feels. I dunno. Do you have to put them right next to the other members? That feels like a really good way to get your underage parahumans even more fucked up about mortality if I'm being honest.
This is touching. Also fuck cancer.
Exactly what the Wards need, less open communication.
This is a hard conversation to have in a lot of ways. Weld is fumbling but he's trying, and the rest of the team needs to meet him in the middle for things to work out.
And. Ugh. I see an unfortunate side of myself in Clockblocker here. I've got an awful habit of going for low blows in an argument if I'm feeling low enough. I get mean, I say things just to make it hurt. I haven't done it in a long time, but it's still a thing I have done and can do if I don't watch it. With this at least it's an accident, or at least the extent of harm Clockblocker is doing is way beyond what he intended.
Clockblocker has the sense to fear Glory Girl in this moment, and she has the grace to forgive him.
And that's proof of who Clockblocker is when he's not at his worst. When he's not lashing out because of the active fucking wringer he's being shoved through, he's obviously thoughtful and kind; the lashing out is, uhh, understandable, but still a problem.
She's just a kid...
I talked about this with some folks on Discord, it's kind of remarkable to me that a guy with literal empathy powers couldn't hold a steady relationship with a single girl. I'm sure parahuman romance is its own special kind of fraught, but that's a little silly.
That said, it sounds like Gallant was good people.
This is very funny though
Oh hey, we have anger and futility coming back together again, haven't seen that for a minute.
Honestly I feel like the ones who try to be funny are usually the ones who've got so much shit going on in the background, anger is the least surprising thing to come from the team's designated funny one.
Good on Dennis for realizing how easy it is to use anger and how hard it can be to let go of it. Shit sucks.
Wuh oh.
This is gruesome, and a harbinger of things to come. Oh boy.
Fuck were the Travelers even doing here, anyhow?
Also crazy bold of the Wards to try and pick this fight. The Travelers have such outrageous firepower, I don't think there'd be much sense in picking this fight.
Skimming back through the fight, not a whole lot for me to say? I'm not super invested in it, I guess, it feels like there's exceptionally little actually riding on this fight. The Travelers want to fuck off and the Wards want to stop them from fucking off, the gallery fight had more meat than this.
"Oh thank god, a conflict I can throw myself into to feel useful and offset all the negative feelings that not fighting has left me stricken with."
That's not a criticism of Clockblocker by the way, if anything I'm just staring at the thing brought up earlier this chapter where most parahumans are driven into fighting each other and suspecting something of a connection.
Current Thoughts
I see some of my younger self in Clockblocker, which is ironic bc I actually had a superhero OC back in high school named Clockblock (his powers were a lot broader and his thing was more about struggling with overwhelming ennui in the face of his own significance in the grand scale of Time Itself). I hope he manages to get over that anger and hurt, but he's a parahuman, so I kinda doubt it.
Kid Win next, plus further plot developments.

ive been trying to catch up on my dash because ive also had a rough few weeks so im using your blog as a distraction because it brings me joy in return i will give a distraction back:
ive been dipping my toe into writing graves mostly to practice his voice and try to see how i feel about him to try to include him in other works, any headcanons or specific things about him you like?? trying to get some inspo lol
Q!!! Thank you so much for your lovely tags on my art !! You know it always brightens my day <3 I'm glad my silly little drawings are able to bring you some comfort !!
As for Graves, I think my favorite thing about him is his energy. Dude is always going BRRRRRRRRR no matter the situation, too much energy in this little blonde guy. He's a fun character to write honestly, I only wrote him once before but it was just fun to do, he's so not serious and always 100% into something.
I also think he loooooves the attention, he loves being a leader (and he is a great one at that), loves having all eyes on him. It's natural to him, with his enthusiasm, his accent, his general attitude, he's used to entertaining a room, for sure. Dude would have made a great theater kid in another universe.
He makes friends easily but can also be way too much for people to handle, especially when he's trying to find partners. That man has been turned down more times than he can count.
I think I've said this one a long time ago but in my mind he has that "supportive but slightly confused straight guy ally" energy, even though this man is extremely bisexual to me. Like he's queer but never really was part of any queer community, but he's trying his best at being respectful. (I ship him with an OC of mine who is transfem and intersex and it just leads to funny situations LMAO). He's a little confused but he's got the spirit !!
This one is pretty random but I think Graves is the kind of guy who struggles with the idea of aging. To me, he was a pretty boy as a young guy, always used to being complimented on it by both men and women, and those compliments have changed as he grew older. Obviously, he's still very handsome but he definitely struggles with the change and has been getting more and more expensive products for his skin. He haaaaaates when he wakes up and can feel his age and definitely will want to party or do something stupid just to prove to himself that he isn't getting old :3c
Also dude lives in a fucking villa because he has way too much money, for sure
Also, obviously, Graves is EXTREMELY american and will pass away if you say the word Celsius or meters in front of him. He also knows how to work a grill alright !!
Also, fuck it, have some NSFW headcanons as well:
This man is a BRAT. He has an insane degradation kink and is just begging to be manhandled. Man or woman, it doesn't matter, he's into everyone as long as they dominate him <3 Loves to be chocked, slapped, spit on, tied up, gagged, he wants it all. He talks shit only so he can be punished in return.
Also it's probably a popular hc for him but I don't care: that man definitely was very popular when he was still a young recruit in the army. He knew how to use his mouth and he made good use of it alright. Dude got very popular reaaaal quick <3
#thank you so much for the ask Q !!! Love thinking about him#he's my wife#he's such a fun character I just can't get enough of him#I'm sorry to hear you've had a few rough weeks#I'm right there with you buddy <3#phillip graves#cod#nekro yapping

hiya! long time listener, first time caller-- I'm writing a couple fics with Jedi protagonists (Shaak Ti, Mace, other Prequel Jedi) which is really fun so far except for the part where I "majored in" (read: hyperfixated on) Organization and Tactics of the GAR and don't actually know that much about the Jedi as individuals, *especially* anything that happened before TPM.
I was wondering if you know of any resources that organize/compile information about that era of Jedi? Things like lineage lists, who was on the Council when, typical schedules/roles/responsibilities, that kinda thing. Resources can be any format; other Tumblr blogs, articles, images, discord servers, archived websites, whatever works! Even the obvious stuff can be helpful (outside of Wookiepedia), since this isn't a part of fandom I've walked through much. You're the only big-name Jedi blog I know.
(If you don't have the spoons to respond, I understand, thanks for reading anyway!)
Hi! Congrats on writing your fic, I'm wishing you all the luck in the world! And here's where my brain starts spinning in a bunch of different directions, because here's the sticky thing about Star Wars "lore": there are three separate continuities and, while you are absolutely free to mix and match as you like and should pick out all the things that interest you, no matter the continuity, they do still exist in separate realms. You have Lucas' Star Wars, you have Legends Star Wars (the Extended Universe/EU under Lucas' ownership of SW, but he has explicitly said it's a separate world from his Star Wars), and you have Disney Star Wars. There is worldbuilding in each of them (though, often very thin on the ground at times) but what's true in one isn't going to be true in another--for example, in Legends there was an age cut off for Jedi initiates at 13, if they didn't get a Master. This limit does not exist at all in Lucas' SW (is contradicted by Ahsoka at 14 being said to be YOUNG for being a Padawan) and Disney Star Wars (there's an Initiate who is 16 and doesn't have a Master and will have to wait at least another year to try again, with no hint of them aging out). You pick which works for you! Just that I think it helps to be aware of what bits come from which continuity. There's also not a ton of pre-TPM content, at least not after The High Republic! Though, I've found THR stuff generally pretty helpful for prequel-era Jedi stuff, because they act and behave 98% of the same way imo! THAT SAID, I tend to collate as much of the Lucas continuity and Disney continuity (as they're the ones I generally prefer) and I have a bunch of resources if you don't mind some homework reading! 😂 I did at least make it as easy to browse as I can, though! - Jedi Culture and Teachings in Canon - A mix of Lucas and Disney content mostly, organized by sections for hopefully easier browsing for what you're looking for! Because 75k words of citations is a lot. orz This is going to give you probably the most of what you want, because I have been working to collect all of that kind of stuff--descriptions of the Temple and personal quarters, any rituals they have, how a Jedi's day is structured, what different paths and roles are common with Jedi, all the Jedi philosophy, what kind of pets they have, etc. It's in three (so far) parts, so you'll have to browse through each of them, but the set-up is the same in each one, so if you find a section that you need the info on, just Ctrl+F to find it in the next part or skip to the same chapter, they're the same template for each! - My "reference" tag - Which is a mixed bag of various posts and different continuities (primarily Lucas + Disney, though) that organize this kind of thing, like a possible in-universe calendar system [also here], a collection of worldbuilding bits specific to Padawan, which was pre-TPM, crossection of the Jedi Temple, a Jedi Council seating arrangement chart through the years, a list of the handful of Master&Apprentice match-ups that we know, a list of "what kind of swearing do people of the galaxy do?" because it's hilarious, a compilation of everything I could find about Jedi healers in ANY continuity, etc. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions (or anyone else wants to suggest other resources!), feel free to ask, I might be able to better steer you if you have a specific question--or at least tell you that I don't think we have anything on that. AND ALSO just remember: the books and games and comics are pretty low on the "hard canon" level, the movies and the TV shows are the highest level of canon, everything else is supplementary and you do NOT have to scour every inch of it if you don't want to! Relax and have fun with it as best you can. <3

[ Pokemon IRL blog, standard unreality warning! ]
Welcome to my beautiful blog! ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
Perhaps you are wondering, 'who are you, beautiful mysterious stranger?'
✧˖° My name is Silver, or you may call me Sol if you wish. I am the founder and leader of Team Ethereal, an organization based in Galar.
✧˖° I enjoy entering Pokemon contests on occasion, and I have won several of them. You've probably heard of me.
I am currently seventeen years old, but I am not 'misguided,' 'brainwashed,' or any other ridiculous thing people have tried to accuse me of. This team was my idea, and I do not appreciate people trying to discredit me for my wonderful creation.
Although I am the only member of the team so far, I will accept almost anyone who is willing to join. Send me your application and I will oversee it as soon as possible.
I will not hesitate to block anyone.
Q & A
'What are you trying to achieve?'
My goal is to rid the world of disease, dangerous pokemon, and anything that isn't beautiful. I want to make the world a perfect place for people to live in. In order to achieve this goal, I will be peacefully 'removing' any harmful or, for lack of a better term, ugly pokemon.
'Are you an evil team?'
No. My goal is honorable and reasonable. Not evil.
'Why do you want to do this?'
Some pokemon simply aren't suitable to be owned by humans, whether it be because they're far too dangerous, or simply shouldn't exist. By eradicating these pokemon, I can help pave the way for a perfect world.
'Can I have your autograph???'
As soon as I hit 100,000 followers, I will do an in-person meeting with my fans. Until then, don't ask again. I don't do handouts.
'What made you do this?'
I was heavily inspired by my parents, who are helping to fund the organization, and the works of Team Flare in Kalos. However, what sets me apart from them is that I do not wish to destroy the region or set off any weapons.
My team consists of four pokemon, but I am always looking forward to adding more team members.

Sparkle on, and enjoy your stay!

[Likes and follows come from @peridotporygon!]
heyy!! it's pory here with another silly little guy, but i wanted to make a character that's specifically evil. Silver isn't as closely tied to my other blogs (@.nells-universe and @.poke-dexter,) but he does exist in the same reality as them, and I'll probably make them interact at some point >:)
Silver is an annoying little shit who will NOT hesitate to be rude to your character. He firmly believes everyone else is beneath him (despite insisting on the fact that he's "humble.") He's an extremely sheltered rich kid who doesn't know much, and he's not going to be willing to learn. He loves arguing.
Silver's also probably going to block a lot of people (in character,) so don't be alarmed if you get a response with something along those lines lol.
There's going to be quite a few references to pokemon mistreatment, child neglect, and self-hatred. All will be tagged, I just want to give a proper warning!
Pelliper mail and musharna mail are on, and so are both of the malice versions.
In general, remember that Silver is a minor, so don't be weird to him. Don't send any asks with romantic or sexual implications, even if they're jokes (it makes me extremely uncomfortable.) Don't sexualize pokemon either.
And BE MEAN TO HIM!!! No mercy for this little freak!! Send him all the hate you want he really deserves it!!

if you’re still taking character asks 🥹 for adrian: 2 3 5 6 7
When am I not taking character asks? All I ever want from this hellsite is character asks. There is no expiration date on the memes. One day someone will dig through the #askbox games tag and send asks from a meme I reblogged 2 whole years ago and I will be like, "you. you get me."
How long was the process before the character reached its final version? (or a version that would be clearly recognizable as the character?)
There is never a final version, I am in a continuous process of creating and learning and remembering and uncovering. I don't remember anything about what it was like to first conjure Adrian; that was the work of Grey, and Grey is gone and took a lot of memory with him. All I can really say is that Adrian existed in a sort of frozen bubble for a few years until I got a hold of him and uncovered the missing piece of his story that made everything fall into place for us -- the apotheosis situation, and Ny'arlat's influence.
What was the first thing you decided on, the character's name, appearance, personality or their role in the story?
I don't remember. I will have to assume that appearance and name came first, simultaneously, because those had to be created in order to play the game and he has never changed appearance or name in all the years he's existed. Personality would have been next, with the Paragon/Renegade system being so prominent in the game.
How did you choose their name and why? Was it simply based on vibes or is there any specific meaning behind the name? Are the reasons behind their name different in- and out of universe?
I didn't; Grey did, and dead men tell no tales. I don't know what "Adrian" means, so I went to look it up and it seems to just be a demonym ("from Adria"). As much as I love Adrian's name, I think it is probably one of the most mundane parts of his existence -- the Shepards gave him that name when they adopted him, and that's really the extent of its meaningfulness.
I'm still working on what he is called when he ascends, as I have no damn clue and it's irritating me.
What was the thought process behind their appearance? Did you go mostly for the aesthetic or are there other reasons they look the way they do?
The thought process was most likely "how do I make a pretty Black man in this character creator", as usual. Frankly, Adrian's appearance is one of the only times I nailed it in a character creator, which is funny because BioWare's character creators are... pretty wack, overall, especially for characters of colour, especially in their older games. But in-game Adrian is what Adrian looks like, barring a few minor details (like the Renegade scars Lazarus lines being a permanent feature and not tied to personality values, and the strange changes he undergoes as he gets closer and closer to his destiny).
And the reason his armour is always hot pink is because fuckin no one would expect it. It's a disarming tactic and also gives him poison-frog vibes. (Mostly he just likes pink. He doesn't understand why that's such a big fuckin deal.)
What is an aspect of their appearance that you like the most?
The Lazarus lines and the strange changes he undergoes later on. The bifurcated iris is a really fun one. I also like what he looks like post-Ascension, because he looks like a lot of different things, and obviously I relate to that.
In general, I just think Adrian is incomparably beautiful beyond the mundanity of words, just like all of my OCs 🖤

you getting push back on that post is crazy to me isn't it enough to watch and get invested in something for what it is currently rather than what it will be? I have so many unfinished projects in my own life it'd be crazy to demand polished completion from everything I watch/read. my unfinished sketches and embroidery and abandoned dnd campaigns still brought joy and growth without having a polished thing to present at the end
So what's funny to me is like. I have referenced this before here and elsewhere but like, as a child, I was SO bad at ambiguous and sad endings and my mother was like, not unkind about this, but neither did she coddle it, and I think that laid a groundwork that was really necessary.
My tags, which got lost bc I did NOT expect that post to break containment, do actually touch on how Netflix and other streaming services canceling things to avoid paying people a fair wage fucking suck but yeah here's a list of creative endeavors I participated in or watched/listened to/read that do not as of this posting have endings and I still liked, and many of them aren't even directly attributable to capitalism because this is just a fact of life and art.
As mentioned, both A Song of Ice and Fire and the Kingkiller Chronicles.
Multiple D&D campaigns for sure (I actually don't make D&D characters without a game in mind and find it weird that people do and so I'm like why am I the one arguing for the beauty of the incomplete).
Multiple fics, both mine and others.
King Falls AM, a podcast I binged in like 2018-2019 and despite being a mystery never actually completed bc the creators couldn't agree.
I think Battlestar Galactica 2003 is one of the most brilliant shows of its era and also the finale, which happened when the creators intended it to, is really dumb, and that doesn't undo the fact that I loved everything else.
How I Met Your Mother ends really poorly in a way that arguably undercuts the whole series, but like, I still liked that too.
Ditto for Chuck, which also struggles in that it was on the chopping block most seasons so they kept ending in ways that probably weren't true to whatever the original vision may have been.
I saw Firefly on DVD after it had already been canceled, I think Serenity is good but I don't love all the choices, and Joss Whedon has since been revealed to be a dick but like, I enjoyed myself greatly while watching it.
As mentioned, Heroes. I didn't watch much TV until my teens anyway because we didn't have cable and our reception sucked and we were very much a book household, and this was one of the first series I recall watching from season 1 and it's also the first TV series where I was like yeah I don't care anymore, and it went on for 4 seasons and I think I gave up either late S2 or early S3.
I didn't watch Supernatural, Game of Thrones, nor Grey's Anatomy but all of those are famous for outstaying their welcome, sometimes it's better to burn out than fade away, etc.
I had already long outgrown Harry Potter and started to see its limitations by the time Rowling's transphobia became public but like, now it's not something I would ever recommend to my friends' kids or anything, and that doesn't undo the fact that I did greatly enjoy it as a child and teenager; it was indirectly the reason why I was introduced to the superior fantasy of Diana Wynne Jones, which I do still reread from time to time. (I think the "well I never liked it" mentality about works from artists who end up being terrible people is tied into the "I can't get invested in anything that might end in an unsatisfying manner." Tumblr University's media studies grads are not the brightest stars in the firmament, that's for sure.)
Like, cancellation (let alone cancellation specifically because of the unique shittiness of streaming services) is just one of the many reason things might end in a way you dislike or become difficult for you to enjoy at a later date, and that's just talking about television. Are you really going to deny yourself the joy of anticipation and watching a story unfold in real-time because the thought of something not satisfying you at every single turn is so unfathomable?
(oh, and because this is, as we know, a CR blog much of the time, I should add that this mentality is really pervasive which is wild because your average 3-season canceled Netflix show is probably the equivalent of maybe 9-10 CR episodes; thinking about how many people who now claim C2 is terrible watched 141 episodes and also the person who is iconic to me who unironically asked me what the point was in getting invested in characters who will die re: Chetney)

I get it that Omocat wanted to focus on the feelz over everything else. But games like Yume Nikki(a game that Omori was clearly trying to ape) don't have a big overarching narrative, and is a very simple freeware game that leaves much room for interpretation. Also helps that it's ost was made to be atmospheric, even if you hear a song for only a couple seconds. I can listen to an extended version of this track while working on something, despite it being a 22 second loop.
https://youtu.be/hlayu0pXLYU?si=srwyAuKuP3cKBs3-
And in terms of games where you beat the final boss by unconventional means, the Earthbound/Mother series(another game/s Omocat was obviously trying to emulate) does so in a way that ties in perfectly with the story and characters in all three games, making the emotional pay-off from them earned.
Omori really wanted to be those games, but missed the mark on why they eventually became cult classics, while a game like Undertale was able to perfectly capture the spirit of them.
I could compare OMORI to Silent Hill 2, which I don't know much in detail (@woodchipp is the one who made this comparison - I keep tagging him because he's the expert here :P) but I know that its big twist is that the protagonist actually killed his wife because she fell sick. Apparently many fans picked for James the ending where he kills himself because they did not have any sympathy for him. I know that the game itself did not paint him as a poow bapyboy, just presented you with the events and his understandable guilt.
I could compare it to Hereditary, which also has a brother accidentally causing his sister's death and (before steering into the paranormal side of the plot) was about how that death wrecked the entire family and destroyed the relationship between son and mother who could only blame everyone around her.
I could compare it to Bojack Horseman, which explores the themes of forgiveness with cruel nuance - we viewers relate to Bojack and want him to finally find happiness because we get familiar with his circumstances, but when he fucks up, the people around him are allowed to cut contact with him, which makes eventual forgiveness (like from Todd) be even more precious. Incidentally, Xerox of a Xerox is all about Hollywoo discovering Bojack's role in Sarah Lynn's death (pushing her to go on a bender that led to her overdose and deliberately waiting to call an ambulance to create an alibi)... and he more than pays the consequences.
I could compare it to Steven Universe, and how it shows just how many people Rose hurt with her deception, even if well intentioned - Garnet falls apart, Amethyst tries to protect Steven from feeling responsible, Pearl moves on from her after their final bind has been cut.
I could compare it to Evangelion, which, as @spinningbuster98 said, also has a depressed teen as its protagonist, but he's pitiable because the story actually fleshes him out and doesn't shy away from the worst sympthoms of his depression, self-loathing and deep desire to be loved.
And if you mention unconventional final bosses, then there's also Undertale and its three final bosses: Asgore removing the choice of MERCY because he really wants to be killed, the fight against Asriel where Frisk is so full of Determination to SAVE him that they straight up cannot die, and Sans cheating all over the place because you player are also a cruel cheater. Also hugging Asriel and him crying that he doesn't want to let go >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> a shallow slideshow of Sunny and Mari being oh so happy together.
This story has been done multiple times, and infinitely better, giving all the respect necessary to every character involved, not just the cute protagonist. OMORI has nothing to offer if not a decent aesthetic.

20 questions for fic writers, J7 edition
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 15
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 90,585
3. What fandoms do you write for? Star Trek, mostly Voyager, some cross-over into Picard and TNG.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Four times she denies you and the one time she doesn't. What happens if our ladies have their shit together and mutual attraction trumps stupid little issues, like Starships to run.
Slowly, then all at once a collection of moments, big and small, painting the picture of two women, learning and growing together, falling for each other slowly, then all at once.
Things that Fall What happens from the first time your heart feels full until you finally let yourself fall? An exploration in 12 vignettes.
The Space in Between Seven is a precious baby-queer, Kathryn is in denial, B'Elanna is the friend we all need (and a fun play-mate to Kathryn).
I'm a little tied up right now My attempt at rectifying the severe lack of prehensile-plant fics in the J7 fandom...
5. Do you respond to comments? Sometimes, when I don't get too in my head about how to respond...
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hands down definitely They're In Love, Where Am I?
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of my fics have a happy ending... For finished fics I think I'd go with autumn is a second spring, including WIPs I think home is a moment in time has the most momentous happy ending so far.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Nope!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes. Depends on the what the story needs - sometimes soft and emotional, but I also have some more kinky BDSM fics. And sometimes they mix, just like in real life...
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Within the Star Trek universe, yes (ask me about the polycule, I dare you!). Not crazy by any standards, but a fun little drabble has the biggest crossover: Come to Quarks, Quarks is Fun (...they said)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of...
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No, I don't think so.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, not yet.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? NCC-1701 will always be my first love, but Voyager is hot af. (half-kidding. It's J7. Hands down.)
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? The Janeway & Riker Chronicles. In my mind he hit on her once and got bitchslapped so hard he worships her to this day. They end up being thick as thieves and getting into all kinds of trouble with each other. There's traces of this in some of my fics, but I doubt I'll ever actually write it.
16. What are your writing strengths? Flow, emotionality, little details, switching POVs
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Brevity, Punctuation, getting lost in the characters' mental space too much
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Sure, why not. But not if you can't speak the language/have someone to help with translation.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Star Trek Voyager | Janeway/Seven
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? I think I'll always be especially fond of my first one (Things that Fall) and the most recent one - just because the idea wouldn't let me go for three years (home is a moment in time) - but I Will Follow Where You Lead has a special place in my heart - because of the challenge of it and the fact that it started a new relationship tag.
Tagging: Thank you for the tag, @curator-on-ao3! If you see this, consider yourself tagged - because I just know I probably forgot to tag someone. Also, to the amazing writers I got to meet here: @moonxshape @jennyandvastraflint @femslash-universe @notdeannatroi @queenology @katerinadeannika @waknatious @stardatextoday @problematick @captainkatie42 @angstbotfic @ussjellyfish @evilwickedme

I'm back once again everyone! But for the last review or whatever, I decided to do it differently. Which, is only because, the first episode of Act III, was so confusingly crazy that I had to switch tactics, so please enjoy:
---------------------------------------------------
Ep. 7:
So we actually got Ekko and Heimerdinger back but in a very weird way. Apparently the arcane anomaly sent them to a different universe where everything is peaceful and harmonious. There are some incredible bonding moments which shocked me, due to how we ended the last act;
It's weirdly nice to see the gang alive and all grown up - apart from VI who apparently died in that universe very early on ('s crazy);
Two completely unrelated points: I really don't know how to feel about alternate Vander's man-bun, and Heimerdinger can sing pretty well;
- Back to where we were before; Heim, Ekko and Jinx trying to recreate the anomaly but ending up creating a weird time machine is very on brand to me. Also mullet Jinx is not only absolutely gorgeous but that lovely moment with Ekko absolutely has my heart;
At the end of the episode Heim and Ekko trying to go back was so confusing. It seemed like Heim just sacrificed himself and then we see Ekko on the floor with, also Ekko in the anomaly bubble - but apparently alternate Ekko is still alive? - so very confusing.
---------------------------------------------------
And now for our very own hobo boy Jayce:
He is apparently in some sort of arcane apocalypse anomaly thing, which, constantly felt like an acid trip (no lie). We actually get to see him gradually lose his little mind and I suppose because the war criminal himself;
This was I guess how he procured his swanky beard and he kept seeing an anomaly hallucination? - I truly have no idea, but I suspect that what we witnessed was him before the whole genocide thing.
We did see much less of him in ep. 7, so there's that I guess.
---------------------------------------------------
Alrighty ep. 8:
So Mel is actually finally back, and she's an incredibly strong and smart mage woman now? Good for her honestly. Her brother Kino is actually dead (which, is sad). And I guess she's got blood ties to the Black Rose? - Ion know. But I hope she won't end up being evil in the last ep;
- She also showed her face in Piltover, which, for some reason made hobo boy mad. But he's crazy enough already so what gives. Mel did save his life though with her crazy but astonishing arcane magic - these two love each other huh. And they have a weird bonding moment as well.
Oh and the uh, Medarda family have issues, and that is all I'll say about that.
---------------------------------------------------
In his entirety I have no clue what the goal of Jayce is. He is apparently taking the role of a rebellion leader against the lovely alliance of Ambessa, Singed and evolution man. Something is clearly loose in Jayce's head;
But he is apparently the big good, and he also knows what's up, so I suppose the rebellion made sense.
---------------------------------------------------
I have zero fucking clue what Singed is doing right now honestly. What is up with this madman?! - Someone kill him please ( I know he won't die because he's an actual league champion, fuck him tho);
It's so very bizarre, everything he does is really. I can't tell if he's tryna jump-start Warwick or he's using him to sustain Viktor? But at the end of the ep it seems like he was transferring Viktor into Warwick, which, I can confidently say I didn't like - leave the poor creature man alone guys sheesh.
---------------------------------------------------
Let us continue on from Viktor; who is I suppose a cultist now? Did that come out of Jayce committing genocide or what? Although I suppose it doesn't matter because mr. Evolution man decided to join the rag-tag fuckery of Ambessa and Singed. 'S a lovely alliance what can I say;
Moving on speaking with honeyed words Viktor was trying to recruit hobo boy Jayce who managed to get some swanky rags (nice job man), but when that clearly didn't work they decided to try to kill each other;
The breakup hit 'em hard I guess.
---------------------------------------------------
Now, let's take a peak at our scorned lovers:
So Cait is back to being herself and is no longer Caitler (thank fuck - didn't like that phase). She then had a marital spat with Vi who was pissed about Jinx being arrested;
Poor Jinx is just a depressed person now, who is apparently talking to Silco's spirit/ghost who is just full of wisdom huh. Oh and she just fucked off after locking Vi in her previous jail cell. Lovely times we live in.
What I really wanna know is, did Cait ever break up with Maddie? (were they even dating, or just shagging - mystery of the universe);
Vi, you know decided to have a chat with Jinx (she still loves her lil sis), which didn't end well for her. Well and then, when Cait went to get her the lovers actually reunited. Guys jail cells are not for a good romp okay - why couldn't they have gone upstairs? Like seriously;
---------------------------------------------------
In the height of this rebellion lotta people are fleeing, but plenty'o people are willing to put their fists up.
And once again an absolutely unrelated point is that we not only love Scar, but we also love Loris. And for some reason green lagoon man (whoever this enforcer may be, he's cool).
---------------------------------------------------
Ep. 8: This shit was crazy..
Well apparently after everything we went through the last step was war. But what did we expected with Ambessa being a war loving bastard eh?
After talking war tactics, they immediately fell into a war zone. Which starred: Noxus v Piltover, whom was then joined by Zaun, Firelights and Jinx. - Wild shit.
---------------------------------------------------
Jinx having enough of life, torching everything from her past and trying to commit suicide essentially was kinda surprising to see. She was just mad sad (she also wacked off her massively long hair, copying Vi's hair);
Then Ekko shows up from the alternate universe and tries his very best (using his time machine) to convince Jinx to not blow herself sky high. Which he managed because he joined the war with her so.
---------------------------------------------------
Vi's running around, smacking the shit out of people and lumbering someone around;
Apart from punching the shit out of people with her oven mitts, she doesn't have that big of a part in the war until the crazy end of it really;
Eh well she and some others tried to reinforce a wall which was immediately smashed to bits - great jobs guys.
---------------------------------------------------
Some sad news time, thems Noxian bitches killed Loris - so fuck 'em noxian soldiers.
---------------------------------------------------
Cait was putting her whole soul and body into trying to kill Ambessa which didn't work;
Which, was then followed by the Noxian soldiers capturing all of em. From then on Mel came to knock some sense into her "lovely" mum (didn't help none);
Cait and Mel teamed up against Ambessa, which took a lot from both ladies, but in the end they won, with Ambessa getting rosed, Mel saving her and then having her die - crazy way to go.
---------------------------------------------------
Ekko, Vi and Jinx teaming up as well was endearing to see, even if it was against weird, fucked up mind washed (and thinner?) Warwick, who lost his Vander-ness.
---------------------------------------------------
Meshing everything together (because this post is probably the longest I've ever written)
Viktor became the Machine Herald, imitating god - because having choices is apparently bad and everyone's path should be set - which Jayce saw through hobo boy is an all seeing all knowing bitch (his anomaly was the future I suppose);
By all technicalities Ekko was the real saviour, as he didn't get hive minded and as such he used is nifty lil time machine to break at mr Herald man;
Jayce then talked the shit out of the situation sticking with Viktor to try and save the world - leading the belief that these guys definitely loved each other (it was a poly relationship).
---------------------------------------------------
After the whole Vi, Jinx and "Vander" thing I definitely need even more therapy then I already needed;
And also Jinx pulling a resi 2 ending, with Vander-wick was both daunting, shocking, and kinda lovely - tho I am sad for Vi, she lost her crazy lil sis;
But hey, thankfully (if you can count it that) Cait and Vi stuck together (and I suppose they live together as well) which was amazing to see.
---------------------------------------------------
I truly thank everyone who read through this and the previous two that I've written. It made my world, to see people liking my weird rants.
So once again thank you (whoever you may be), have an impeccable day and I'll see ya the next time I have something to write about!
#arcane#rant#deep thoughts#who needs therapy#i'm really sorry#this was longer than intended#vi and caitlyn#ekkojinx#some crazy shit went down#i need to hibernate#league of legends#arcane season 2#arcane act three

(Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw anon) Well, now I am definitely intrigued about Hufflepuff. If you would be willing to do a spoiler post, I'd be interested.
wow look at me tackling my askbox
i got this question from a few people so here y'all go!! (and here's the original ask)
as always, if you DO NOT want spoilers about atfhv and have not yet filtered the #atfhv spoilers tag, do that now!!
much of my thinking about hufflepuff in this universe is that, like...... hufflepuff is SO underutilized. jkr's personal beliefs about valuable traits really bleed through in how she a) defines and b) treats the different houses, and i find canon hufflepuff to be such a bland treatment of what it means to actually take a bunch of people whose main character trait, as defined by jkr, is not being unafraid of a hell of a lot of hard work, and putting them in a room together and saying 'okay, your house was founded on the principle that nobody should be denied an education based on an outsider's opinion of their merit. the other three houses at this school take pride in their Qualities and think of you as kind of the catch-all house for people who don't fit anywhere else. now what are you going to do about it'
i also think of hufflepuff as being a house that does value tradition - they're the counterbalance to ravenclaw, and eminently practical, in a 'this works, so i'm going to buckle down and get it done while you're busy fantasizing about a better way to do it' way. they've never cared much for sweeping changes being imposed on them by others, especially when those changes don't seem particularly useful, or when they seem like fruitless (or actively impedimental) lip service to an agenda
and, perhaps most importantly, they are realistic. they firmly believe that you have to accept what reality is (in the sense of not being in denial about The Real State Of Things, not in the sense of *approving* of it), and then you can actually get things done. if you're in denial, pretending things aren't the way they are, you're going to waste time and effort on not getting anywhere at all.
like, here's an example: if you're taking ALL the students who aren't deemed 'worthy' of the other houses, you're going to have to teach them. anything else is a violation of your house's founding principle. and you can't teach every student exactly the same way and expect them all to succeed. you have to accept that different students learn differently and struggle with different things, and some of them will need more help than others, and some of them are going to struggle a lot in a traditional academic setting, and it would be really, really difficult to change the way hogwarts teaches when you'd be likely to get resistance from the (very conservative-minded) board of trustees, the ministry, people who are worried about standardized test scores, etc.
you have to accept that reality before you can go 'okay, so, how do we make sure these students succeed anyway?' otherwise, you're just wasting your time on something futile and not getting any results.
what does all of that mean?
it means hufflepuff has a thriving tradition of studying dark arts, and bringing new people into their group, that has lasted as long as slytherin's has. like, why would they throw that out the window just because the ministry told them to? this shit is powerful magic. it's useful, too. they're not just going to stop because it scares the muggles - they're always going to scare the muggles, it's part of having magic. might as well just accept reality and get on with your life
'but wait!' you say. 'why doesn't regulus know about this, if this tradition has really been going on for so long?'
to which i say: because hufflepuffs are great at accepting reality. the slytherin dark arts study group is an open secret. they don't face consequences because people either dismiss it as superstition or know that there's no way they'd be able to make anything stick, what with slytherin's very deep ties to the wizengamot (and the government in general). hufflepuff does not have the advantage of a dark, creepy aesthetic and an immediate connotation of shitloads of money and political power. plenty of people think that lots of hufflepuffs probably aren't very bright since they got put into the Everyone Else house. even their slytherin counterparts might be skeptical about hufflepuff's ability to keep this a secret - after all, they weren't put in the cunning house, were they?
so hufflepuff uses the slytherin group as cover - or rather, the rumors about the slytherin group. who on earth would look at *hufflepuff* for evidence of dark arts, especially when slytherin is right next to them being all cunning and ambitious?
and, unfortunately, this means that they have to keep the existence of their study group VERY much on the DL. the stakes of people suspecting them are a lot higher, since they don't have the same smokescreen that slytherin does. they can use slytherin as a shield, but there's a limit to how useful that shield will be
the hufflepuff study group tends to be smaller than the slytherin study group. they are also more likely to bring in people who weren't raised in the dark network, because continuity is important to them and they want to keep this group going, even though hufflepuff tends to get fewer dark scions than slytherin does. that being said, the love of tradition and pressing need for secrecy is a double-edged sword - there are blood purists in hufflepuff, they're just polite about it. and a lot of those purists can be found in the dark arts study group, politely Not discussing politics with each other since arnold macmillan is like, right there, and he's a *macmillan*, and all of that
blood purity in hufflepuff is less about magical capability and more about safety from muggles, which is why it flies under the radar in comparison to slytherin
but they're often not big voldemort fans. bc like, wtf is he doing.
and, similar to ravenclaw, there's a range of opinions re: dumbledore, generally highly correlated with their ties to the dark network or lack thereof
and this will all become important very, VERY soon.

"THE 47TH INFECTION"-(AKA "THE 47TH TURNED").
MY FIRST IMAGE POST ON A TUMBLER GROUP! ALSO IF U WANNA KNOW WHY I TYPE LIKE THIS, PLEASE READ MY BVIO. BEEN PLAYING' THE HEL OUT OF THE HITMAN WOA TRILOGY LATLEY AND ITS FREAKING AWESOME! I WISH I COULD'VE KNOWN OF/GOT TO PLAY THE OLDER GAMES WHEN THEY CAME OUT THOUGH.
ANYWAY: I KNOW THIS IS "OUT OF CHARACTER" GIVEN THAT VAMPS DON'T EXIST IN THIS UNIVERSE, AND I THINK 47'S IMMUNE TO MOST ILLNESSES/INFECTIONS...SO IDK IF IT WOULD WORK ON HIM, IF TI WERE ONE, THEN AGAIN THE VIRUS IN THAT ONE LEVEL KILLS HIM IF HE GETS SICK RIGHT?
ANYWAYS. LONG STORY-SHORT ISH. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE OUTFIT, AND I THOUGHT "WHAT IF?... I MEAN HE'S ALREADY A STRONGLY ENHANCED CLONE. SO...MAYBE BEING A VAMPIRE WOULD...PROBABLY MAKE HIM MUCH MORE TERRIFYING!" (NOT THAT HE ISN'T ALREADY DANGEROUS AND YET AWESOME ON HIS OWN, OF COURSE. JUST SAYING).
THEN I HEARD THIS ONE RANDOM GUARD WHILE WATCHING SOMEONE PLAY THE MISSON SAY SOMETHING LIKE: "YEA HA-HA! VERY FUNNY BUDDY, VAMPIRES DON'T EXIST!" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT...SO AGAIN WHAT IF THEY DID? THAT ONLYL FULED MYDESIREE TO DO THIS EVEN MORE. WELL...TBH I CAN'T HELP IT, BUT I LOVE TURNING CHARACTERS I LIKE INTO THEM...IDK WHY TBH. MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE I THINK THEY'RE (SOMETIMES) SO BADASS AND COOL IN MY OPINION LOL!
ALSO, I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHICH TAG TO GIVE THIS TBH, SO IF THIS IS THE WRONG ONE, OR IF THERE'S A BETTER FITTING ONE PLEASE TELL ME I KIND OF WISH WE NOT ONLY HAD AN ARTWORK TAG SECTION BUT ALSO THE ABILITY TO PUT MUTLBALE TAGS ON THESE THINGS.
I OWN NOTHING ABOUT THE HITMAN SERIES...ALL RIGHTS BELONG TO IO INTERACTIVE. I PUT THE IMAGES/TEXT TOGETHER IN A SORT OF "MEME" STYLE USING GIMP, AND I POSED 47 IN GMOD-(TO THE BEST OF MY LIMITED ABILITIES, GIVEN HOW MY GMOD HAS MESSED UP ATM WHEN IT COMES TO UPCLOSE POSES). SO I'M SORRY IF THE PIC DOESN'T LOOK THE BEST, I'M STILL ALSO A NOOB AT GMOD POSING MIND U.
BUT I ALSO ADDED HIS SCARY EYES/FANGS WITH GIMP. THE VAMPIRE CUSTOM IMAGE, IS FROM THE HITMAN WIKI, I ALSO DON'T OWN IT EITHER LOL. IF YOU ALL DON'T WANT ME USING IT, I WILL TAKE IT OUT OF THE PICTURE AND JUST USE THE TEXT OR SOMETHING.
THANKS FOR READING, PLEASE FORGIVE THE LONG-ISH ESSAY OF TEXT AND ALSO FORGIVE ANY GRAMMAR OR SPELLING MISTAKES IF ANY ARE PRESENT.

(same oc ask anon) i looked at your tag for your retrostatic thing and you have some sus things tagged if i may say ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) so are they like, robots? or just one of them?
Ahahaha yeah. Some... uh, er, interesting things tagged. Don't really know what to say about that like you saw the posts. (For those who haven't: it's "eroticism of the machine" and cybersex kinda stuff).
They're not robots exactly (at least none yet) but the majority of the characters are from a kind of... technology dimension? So there are two (relevant) dimensions in the story, one of which is actually the Retrostatic and the other of which is unnamed but is a more normal realistic earth-like dimension (tho there are still differences). Most of the characters so far are from the Retrostatic because that's where most of the story takes place. And in that dimension everyone is in some way related to technology (usually they just. Are. some piece if technology. But not always; at times it's more complex than that). 1-800-CASH-NOW is a TV/radio demon I guess (I usually follow that up with a bunch if question marks cuz it's not super well defined), The Operator is a telephone, BaitHook_Fix.txt.bin is a piece of malware... loverboy is from the normal dimension so he's just an anthro wolf (the other dimension is populated by anthropomorphic cartoon animals). A lot of characters don't have names yet (especially if they're gonna be side or background characters) but there's also a gun, a car, a two dimensional insect, a... thing that has old gramophone music play around it... a worm with a zipper... two... flamingo jackalope unicorn snakes... it's a very loose and undefined dimension. Like that's what it's supposed to be not just "I haven't figured it out yet" (tho there is some of that too). But that does make it hard for me to build characters for it since there aren't any guidelines for me to fall back on. I just kinda have to try stuff until something works. Both in terms of design and lore.
Not directly related to what you asked, but the main characters are 1-800- and loverboy. 1-800- is a celebrity gameshow / radio show host who is the cause of the whole timeline alternate universe mess (not on purpose, it just has that effect on the world) and different versions of it keep slipping into each other's places. It's got this red-string-of-fate thing going on with loverboy (I usually call them "fate-tied") who is literally just some rando that basically gets isekai-ed into the Retrostatic. Due to that 1-800-CASH-NOW has unknowingly been searching for him since forever (time works differently between dimensions). Like 1-800- has this feeling deep within its core that doesn't understand, and it keeps being compelled to do things like pull people into its dimension. It doesn't know why or how it just does these things. And then eventually it finds loverboy and is like "oh I see now this is The Guy" because it was fate the pull of fate trying to get them together. But that exacerbates the whole "space-time dimensional instability" thing. And shit happens. Because the different versions of 1-800- have wildly different goals and ways they are tied to loverboy. Like for some it's romantic, for some it's trying to kill him, for some it's got an unhealthy obsession with him, etc. etc. and many are a mix too. And of course loverboy is thoroughly freaked out. Especially since until now the whole multidimensional spacetime alternate universe thing hasn't affected him. But now he Feels It. So they've got this very weird and fucked up relationship that is full of distrust and confusion (both around each other and themselves).
Anyway that was supposed to be succinct it's just hard to explain. There's actually so much more but this is already long as hell. Thanks for sticking around if you read all this.
