Kodaka April Fools tweets 2024

Lying just because it's April Fools' is so dull. Honestly painful to watch. Lying in general doesn't do you any good. In my younger days, I told every lie I could, saying some genuinely insane stuff about being a supreme leader of evil and whatnot, and thanks to that, now that I'm in my thirties, I got famous for all the wrong reasons and can't find a stable job because people think I'm associated with the yakuza... Sigh, I wanna deck my cringe younger self's face. Quit lying for fun while you can.

My classmates aren't doing great either. Thinking you're hot shit during your school days always comes back to bite you... My advice to my past self: slow and steady effort is worth more than any talent. Also, the part of life you spent larping with that silly horse laugh is not going to be one you'll want to remember later. I wish I could make that clear to him. White lies aren't a thing. Talent is never enough. My class is proof of that. Wanna know what my classmates are like now that we're in our thirties?

Akamatsu became a piano teacher. Her player skills capped off in her teens, it seems. But she's not that good at teaching so she's considered kinda mid at her job. And now she's struggling with the father of a student incessantly hitting on her. Tough world to live in.

Toujou opened a housekeeping company but she was too strict with her employees so everyone quit. And now she's doing everything on her own. Sucks to be in your thirties without any successors or employees. She's a prime example of how being so much better than anyone else doesn't do you any good. Well, she's always working for celebrities, so she's doing well financially, but I heard about some major court fight about a missing item under suspicion of theft from one of her clients. That can't be nice.

Yumeno got to her thirties still saying magic is real, so she's past the point of no return. She agrees that's an unhinged way to live, but she's too old to suddenly change gimmicks. Work takes her all over the country, but her gimmick doesn't allow her to publicly drink, so she has to get plastered alone in her hotel room after shows. I wish she could fix her life with real magic.

Harukawa? ...Haven't heard that name in a long time. Now she was a living edgy fantasy. The past tense was because I hadn't heard of her in a long time. I don't know the details, but apparently, she went to some war zone outside of Japan because her first love didn't want to date her. Takes some real edgelord to react to a broken heart like that, but if she's still alive, I have no idea how her thirties are treating her. My personal guess is that she's a mother of many.

Chabashira opened her Aikido school but is having a hard time attracting students. So she had the idea of starting an anti-sexual-harassment campaign that could double as advertisement, but thanks to her cluelessness when it comes to romance, she got canceled for mistakenly tossing men in regular couples. She's still doing the "degenerate males" bit in her thirties. Girl really needs to get on with the times. Rumor goes that she still downs huge packs of tequila bottles with Yumeno every now and then. Really don't think there's any salvaging her reputation.

Shirogane is an office lady still continuing her cosplay hobby on the side. She could be doing well if she knew how to keep her mouth shut but frequently rambles about cosplay history and etiquette, so no one likes having her around. Stay emotionally dependent on a single hobby long enough and your passion starts to close you off to others. That's her problem.

Angie was the most successful in the class! She made big money both on the art and the religion fronts. However, there were some controversies about her devotees selling counterfeits of her paintings at exorbitant prices and one magazine made a huge news coverage of it, which resulted in her catching the police's attention. She's been recently untraceable, with the rumors saying that she'll never be back to Japan.

Oh, and Iruma... Up until some point, she had the best life of all of us. She made big money off of her inventions' patents. So far so good. Things only started going off-rails after she married an ex-stripper. The two started a YouTube channel together. And later, her husband ran in last year's elections and lost big time. They got an awful debt from his election campaign and she had to get into side jobs to pay it off. And her husband? Disappeared. No word from Iruma herself about what happened. Tough world to live in.

No further updates from Kodaka in the past 3 hours, so I assume he went to sleep and will come back to tweet about the 7 remaining boys in the morning.

My Favorite Character from each of my Favorite Anime

Hi! I’ve done a few separate posts about my top 10 anime and my favorite anime characters, but I decided I’d combine those ideas into one post and try and pick out my favorite character from each of my favorite anime. This is going to be hard because I know I have multiple favorites for most of these, but I will do my best. Let’s go!

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood- Hohenheim

I usually cycle between Ed, Hohenheim, and Mustang being my favorite character, but recently it’s been Hohenheim. I think he’s both under appreciated and misunderstood by the FMAB fandom. Long story short, I love characters riddled with guilt (not sure what this says about me lol). If you’re interested, I’ve already written a whole post about how much I love him!

Revolutionary Girl Utena- Utena

I always shift between Utena and Anthy being my favorite, but I really have loved Utena from the start. I find it very compelling how she hides her internal anguish behind her cheerful, positive persona.

Toradora- Taiga

I’ve already written so much about Taiga (in this post, spoilers) so there’s not much else to say besides that I’m the number 1 Taiga defender. I love her, she reminds me of myself in some ways, she’s great. I think she’s the perfect example of a ‘flawed’ protagonist.

Chihayafuru- Chihaya

Chihaya is such a ray of sunshine, comic relief, and a total fuck up, and yet she is an incredible karuta prodigy and the protagonist of the show. She is also one of the most realistic neurodivergent-coded characters I’ve ever seen. I think it’s fun how she defies expectations as well; she has the appearance of a beautiful cool model, but as soon as other characters talk to her they realize how much of a nerd she is.

March Comes in like a Lion- Hina

There are a lot of sub-plots and semi-important characters in this show, but the side character that I was always the most interested in was Hina. I think the way she is so open about her emotions is inspiring, and as she goes through hardships it’s nice to see how she matures while also maintaining her cheerful attitude.

Your Lie in April- Tsubaki

I haven’t watched this anime in a long time, but I do know that when I first watched it my favorite character was Tsubaki for sure. Her unrequited love plot line was heart wrenching and compelling.

Love is War- Ishigami

I also cycle between a few favorite characters in Love is War (I adore both Shirogane and Kaguya of course) but at this point in the story in the anime, Ishigami is my favorite. I think he is such a realistic portrayal of an insecure, awkward teen, and I love how noble and selfless he is behind the scenes.

Haikyuu- Kageyama

What else is there to say, truly? I loved Kageyama the second he was introduced. His dynamic with Hinata is what makes the show, and his stubborn, cold personality is something I tend to be drawn to when it comes to my favorite kinds of characters.

Madoka Magica- Homura

Sayaka is a really really close second, but after finishing the series for the first time I couldn’t get Homura’s story out of my head. Her determination and willpower are honestly unmatched, and each new watch of the show makes me appreciate her more.

Monster- Dieter

I feel like Dieter may seem like an odd choice for a favorite; as you may expect, Tenma (many people’s favorite I’d assume) is probably a close second for me. But I think I liked Dieter so much because he was proof that love and support are capable of saving even the most traumatized individual. He was so cute and I loved how much he loved Tenma.

One of my favorite things about writing Shiro is I can always, always make him kind.

He’s not perfect or flawless, but if I need him to be gentle, he will be. If he needs to be patient, compassionate, soft, anything, I can always write him that way.

What’s more is his kindness is not weak. If he needs to be brave enough to say “I love you”. To say “I’m sorry.” To put aside his own anger or hurt or pride to help someone else. To take a hard look at himself and decide he needs to change—He will do that.

If he has to brutally fight someone to protect the innocent, he’ll do that too.

Shiro’s kindness is not always the same what is nice. More often than not, it requires an incredible amount of determination and bravery to be possible. But he will always find that strength when he has to.

Don’t get me wrong, I love me some deeply flawed, messed up, mean characters. Variety is good in your diet.

But there’s also something so unique and refreshing about Shiro. He’s fierce enough to fight god and gentle enough to soothe a child. He has the confidence to lead the scared and the weak, but none of the ego to domineer over them. He cares and he tries and he tries, and even at his worst, he’s still kind.

I just—I just really love Takashi Shirogane, ok?

FFXIV Write 2024 :: Day Thirty

Prompt: Two Heads Are Better Than One Characters: Nomin tal Kheeriin, Tandem Chorus, Manaka Shimizu Word Cont: 975 Notes: What If Scenario

Master List

Curled and tucked away within one of the hanging chairs, Nomin relished the warmth of the fireplace within the Starry Garden. While she was not quite fond of making the trip into Ishgard, she found herself quite reliant on one of the staff members that worked there: a Raen by the name of Manaka Shimizu.

As it so happened, Manaka was Echo-blessed, and that was quite the valuable trait when it concerned the rise of any primal threat that might have shown themselves. Thankfully, ever since the threat of despair and ruin became naught but a whisper on the wind, these worries were mostly quelled.

A shuffle was heard, but there was barely a trace of aether to pick up on. Lifting her head, Nomin tore her attention from the dancing flames to the person who had just arrived. A hyuran man who seemed just a bit fatigued, his hair was pulled back into a loose bun -- likely for working the venue. There was a familiar sort of air about him, and Nomin could only lift a brow in contemplation as she adjusted herself further.

The man looked over, a slight look of surprise on his face.

“Hey, sorry… I didn’t disturb you, did I?” the man asked.

Nomin shook her head in response, adjusting herself further so that her feet were back down on the ground. Observing the man further in the limited firelight, she asked, “You…wouldn’t happen to have a sister, would you?”

“Huh?” the man’s attention flicked from the fire back to Nomin. “I, uh… Yeah, but…she’s in Hingashi for work. Why?”

“... I thought so,” Nomin replied. Her expression warmed a bit. “Her name’s Primam, isn’t it? I worked with her for a bit.”

The man’s expression brightened. Nomin, just like with Primam, could not readily pick up on his emotions like she could with people native to Etheirys. His aether was like a trickle, if that.

“Y-Yeah, that’s her! How is she?” the man asked, taking a seat close by in one of the armchairs. His attention was focused on Nomin entirely, eager to learn.

“She seemed in good enough spirits last we talked. Excited about the job we did since it meant getting some extra notes and pieces for the museum she works at,” Nomin briefly explained. “Granted, she did also say she wished she had a bit of your strength on our trip -- though her use of magic is quite awe-inspiring.”

“Heh…yeah, she’s always been good at that,” the man responded. He then held out his hand to Nomin in greeting. “Tandem Chorus, by the way.”

Another Garlean sounding name. Was that just the norm where they came from?

Nomin held her own hand out, shaking his. “Pleasure. Nomin tal Kheeriin; you can just call me Nomin.”

“Nomin, huh? Nice name.”

“Thanks, I picked it myself.”

This elicited a chuckle out of Tandem. He loosely laced his fingers together, resting his arms in his lap as he leaned forward in casual fashion. “It’s really nice hearing that it seems like my sister’s doing well. It’s… Well, thank you. We don’t get to see each other much since we can’t really use the aethernet.”

Nomin’s brow twitched upward. She supposed she should have expected that. She and Primam never had to use aether travel since Hingashi and Shirogane were just ferry rides away from one another. But then…that seemed to imply that Tandem took a moon long journey into Othard if he even went to visit at all.

But…it seemed evident that whatever was going on with Primam and Tandem was not like what was going on with Thancred at all. Primam was still highly magically potent -- and she was expecting that Tandem was as well. Meanwhile, Thancred needed someone like Ryne or Y’shtola to charge his rounds for his gunblade since he could not do it himself.

“That’s rather strange,” Nomin commented. “I mean, your sister just seemed…so very magically-inclined, it didn’t seem like attuning to and using the aethernet would have been an obstacle.”

“Hah, you’re telling me…” Tandem replied. “Actually, I had half a mind to save up and head into Sharlayan to learn more about aether travel since one of my co-workers brought it up. It’s something that I think Prim would be more taken to, but she’s been learning about other things in Hingashi that I’d hate to pull her away from.”

Tandem leaned back with a sigh. “Still, two heads would be better than one on that front, and my sister’s been a lot smarter than me when it comes to the application of magic.”

“Well, it’s not my place, but…” Nomin started. “Your sister’s saved my hide more than once during our trip together… I can see about speaking with someone to make your trip to Sharlayan that much easier if and when you decide to commit to it.”

“Oh, no, I…” Tandem brought a hand up to rub the back of his neck. “I mean, that’s really nice of you and all, Nomin… But…”

“Don’t be stupid and accept the offer,” came a sharp tone from above them. Manaka had been leaning against the railing up top, and was just now making her way downstairs. Her aether became much more apparent to Nomin as she descended. “It’s not every day you’d get an offer as good as that one. Especially from someone like her.”

“Hey, c’mon… I’ve been saving up to pay my own way,” Tandem refuted.

“And you’d be a fool to blow all those funds in travel and bunk costs with no way back, especially if you can’t secure funding. Sharlayan is an island nation, and you’ll be hard pressed to find work there that isn’t becoming a Gleaner,” Manaka shot back. “Unless you’re really good at swimming, I suggest you take an offer from the Warrior of Light herself.”

My personal favorite lines from every DRDT character + explanations

Most of these are my favorites because they carry deeper implications about the characters or are thematically interesting. A few of them are just here because they're funny.

Fair warning that this is at least half just an excuse to talk about my subjective character interpretations and various cool shit I've noticed.

Spoilers up to CH2-11. Content warnings for DRDT-typical stuff.

J:

It's a kind of funny part of J's character how genuinely vindictive she gets over her secret despite it seemingly being minor and almost completely meaningless. To be fair, I guess spending four straight days hanging out with Arturo does that to a person.

Xander:

This is very interesting to me because a lot of the cast feel trapped by "fate" or unfortunate circumstances they're unable to escape (well, besides the killing game...). Teruko is the obvious example, but so are David, Arei (at first), Rose, Ace... It's common enough among the characters that I'd argue it as a central theme of the series, and I'm excited to see how it gets explored. This line being coupled with Xander immediately trying to kill Teruko despite the fact he doesn't want to seems like a contradiction, so I'm curious about that, too.

Veronika:

A big part of her character is just parodying Danganronpa fans (think Shirogane but less insulting) and I think this sums it up well. David was my least favorite character pre-CH2 and I break out in hives whenever I hear people saying he was better before, so I unfortunately can't deny how accurate this is :p A healthy appreciation for morally bankrupt characters is a keystone of maximum Danganronpa enjoyment!

Nico:

Everyone knows this one, but still. I like how Nico's shyness feels more like a character choice to make them seem unstable rather than non-threatening. This is accurate to reality since it's mostly shy people who send death threats on Tumblr dot com. (just kidding)

Eden:

Sums up her entire speech to Teruko in 2-3. What she says here cements her as the only person to stand in clear-cut opposition to the cynical worldviews of people like Teruko and David, which is important, since they're clearly supposed to be in the wrong but would otherwise lack a clear source of pushback. Disturbingly convincing theories about her being the CH2 killer aside, I think she's the only character more likely than David to die in CH5, since she seems to be taking on a role similar to Nanami and Momota in the mainline games.

Charles:

I'm getting a degree in computer science. Gonna start randomly dropping this one into conversations with people. (not really)

Rose:

This along with the rest of her backstory is symbolic for how corporations take the autonomy from artists and suck the soul out of their work. (Can you even call it symbolic if it's practically word for word?) All I can say about it is that it's a creative's horror story and this is exactly how I would feel if I were in her shoes.

Ace:

There's very obviously a lot more going on with Ace than what meets the eye. This line is a particularly clear example and I'm curious exactly what he's referring to when he says "this".

Whit:

This guy has problems.

Teruko:

Teruko being a doomer who thinks everyone besides her is fated to die. Should be obvious by this point, but this is actually why she's refusing to get close to people more than physical self-preservation: she doesn't want to deal with the grief of watching everyone else in the cast die one by one. Also ties in nicely with the next one:

David:

Similarly to Teruko, on the inside he's in complete fatalist despair thinking everyone (including himself) is gonna die. This is very telling of why he gives up on surviving and tries to get everyone to vote for him in 2-11.

Hu:

The motive secret she got is "You only took on your talent to distract from your incessant need to harm yourself for fun." This is a pretty morbid secret, but she doesn't think it's odd because the secret doesn't apply to her; she only thinks it's odd because it doesn't have her name on it. Interesting tie-in to her actual secret being the "hopeless child" one.

Min:

As someone who is an exceptional student but mid in every other area of life, I feel this hard. Min's entire bonus story speaks to me.

Levi:

Pretty funny, I laughed. Levi hasn't had his development yet so he's really leaving me with a shortage of things to say about him.

Arturo:

Again, can't explain why, I just think this is a very funny thing to say for some reason.

Arei:

I love the way this kind of cynicism is portrayed in DRDT. If Teruko and David are super negative and pessimistic about other people, Arei is a visceral demonstration of just how miserable and wet-cat-pathetic it is to hold views like those. As Eden says, "Not caring about others is the worst way to live." Although the aforementioned two were the only witnesses to this scene for a reason, I think the point was lost on both of them. Very sad!

Honorable mentions:

Self explanatory. Teruko really wants to be loved; she just believes any meaningful relationships she makes are figuratively and literally doomed.

Also self explanatory. Another indication that there's a lot more going on with Ace than meets the eye.

I always forget he said this so I get jumpscared by it every time I rewatch the prologue. Like whoa man, you're in America, you can't say that word here.

First of all, it's always nice to see more S;G Fans <3

Regarding an Aquakana kiss, I definitely can't say 100% since I feel like we've gotten a lot of curve balls lately with OnK but I want to say there's a high chance of it if Aqua does get together with Kana. The only possible endgame endings for Aqua right now are either "Kana or no one". I also noticed that Aqua's kiss scenes so far were not done out of love, so think it would be sweet if the manga finally has a kiss scene that is done purely out of romantic intent.

I've read all of Aka's other works. Love Agency got axed before the romance had any significant build-up for a kiss, while Instant Bullet's romance had a tragic ending before the ship kissed. In Kaguya-sama, Kaguya mentions that the first kiss didn't feel like a true first kiss because Kaguya and Shirogane were still hiding parts of themselves to one another, so their kiss after baring their normal selves was framed as their actual first kiss. It would be cool if something similar was done in OnK.

this is very self explanatory imo…. Some are more design notes than others but otherwise, yes, theyre a bunch of detective characters blended together. That’s the tl;dr.

Besides that, this is where their harmless shell comes from. They play it close to their chest, don’t like flaunting any of their business, but they’re nosy about everyone else’s. They’re polite and nice enough, but most people get a weird feeling from them, like they’re being disingenuous. They’re suspicious but they haven’t done anything, so everyone is kinda awkward when interacting. Yuu does recognize this, too.

The sara choice was last minute, and without spoilers, there’s a specific aspect of sara that yuu has.

it feels excessive putting komaeda and dantes since they’re more design related now lmao…. Gin has changed A LOT since the beginning. He’s lost a lot of the more unhinged traits and traded them for…being depressed. a lot of his personality makes sense when seeing this. he’s very dry, detached, aloof, what have you, but there’s something beneath the layers of pain and suffering. What exactly? Couldn’t tell you.

Sara is on his as well, but for different reasons. He’s a reluctant MC (not that sara is, but it’s not like she loves it), lives in his own head, but has a lot of big bro energy, especially towards people younger than him. He cares a lot more than he lets on. He also has a bestie he’d do anything for. Not at all coincidentally, Joe is on masaru’s chart lol.

How do you feel about each one of your classmates?

That is a little hard to answer due to not remembering all my classmates, but I'll do my best in a list! Kaede Akamatsu/Miss Kaede: She was very sweet person, we were there for each other through thick and thin when she was still alive. She was kind of my everything in a sense. Shuichi Saihara: We were best friends even after the killing game. We had a very sibling-like relationship (older brother and younger brother). He was very quiet but I remember he would make time to talk to me a lot! (I remember times I would be kind of jealous of him when he hung out with Kaede when I wasn't invited. I didn't cause a hissy fit but I was slightly annoyed.)

Angie Yonaga: She was really sweet to me, she actually was the reason I learned how to draw! We would have a few sessions to learn how to draw. she was a good teacher, but she was a bit sadistic at times, usually curious about how I was a robot. I remember when she tried to push me down the trash shoot...

Korekiyo Shinguji: They were very quiet and didn't pay much attention to me, he was way more focused on Angie or other people, but he was more than happy to explain things that humans do and was actually the one who explained that I could be non-binary! Since everyone just said I was boy but he pointed out that I could choose if I was a boy. HE ALSO JUST STOOD THERE AND WATCHED ANGIE TRYING TO SHOVE ME DOWN THE TRASH SHOOT-

Gonta Gokuhara: I don't remember much, but I know he was very sweet even if I was slightly scared of him. He made me enjoy bugs or understand them like he does at some point. Kirumi Tojo: I don't remember much. She was nice but didn't pay much attention to me. I think she thought I was weird or something. Rantaro Amami: I don't remember a single thing Ryoma Hoshi: I don't remember a single thing

Tenko Chabashira: I don't remember a single thing

Tsumugi Shirogane: I don't remember much besides basically getting her killed due to destroying the school Maki Harukawa: we aren't really friends in the killing game but we got really close due to our shared trauma of losing people we cared for, I remember getting very close like hand-holding. Kaito Momota: He made my hair hard as a rock to give me a "cool guy hair cut" He almost destroyed my inner fanning system. Besides that, very sweet and he would hug me very tightly. Kokichi Oma: Same as usual kokichi with teasing me all the time

Himiko Yumeno: I don't remember anything from himiko, I don't know if were that close in the first place. Miu Iruma: HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. I don't know about canon version of him, concerning the version with 'angsty lore' I think the worst match would be someone who resembles his family. Which means that anyone who is not like his family would be a good match. Which ironically means that he shouldn't date anyone who is a lot like himself, or someone who'd remind him about his family ("you're a violent guy, you're bloodthirsty, you're stuck up, you're xenophobic" etc)

Satadate (Satanick x Idate)

In my mind, Idate and Satanick are really good together but I don't personally see them as a romantic pair, i dont know why, maybe it didnt click with me. They can hang out together and have fun, they are also very tolerant and lax with each other. Idate is very patient with Satanick's emotions and sensitiveness, and orca doesn't get upset at his outbursts. And Satanick doesnt mind Idate keeping things to himself. I imagine if they were together, they'd be so lax with each other like a couple where both let their s/o date other people. Satanick's brain is on fire 24/7 and Idate is calmer and more organized (Idate is disorganized and unfocused but it's nowhere near as bad as Satanick's lack of focus). Plus Satanick is really active and very very artistic, he likes various things, so Idate could be introduced to new stuff that Satanick gets into.

9/10, I dont know why i dont ship it, maybe because this looks like BFF dynamic to me

Idarock (Idate and Rock)

Childhood friends is a nice dynamic, I suppose. In my head I liked to headcanon that Idate used to be shyer and less confident and Rock used to be mischievous and active, and Rock's attitude rubbed off on him (I know in canon it was different though). The ship asks are cute and maybe that rubbed off on me and how i see them. Rock being frustrated and annoyed with Idate would feel bad for me personally but I believe Idate is fine with that. As long as Rock just has an attitude and not being actually disgusted with Idate it's a solid match. 9/10

Bonus: them knowing about each other more than others would be an interesting addition to the dynamic between them

Shirodate (Shirogane x Idate)

I wont talk about canon version of this pair-. In non-canon verse, I feel like... it would be a bit awkward, and maybe a slow burn? Shirogane is anxious and tends to assume things about people, plus he is sulky in a way that Idate wouldn't tolerate as much as he'd tolerate Rock's attitude. Idate enjoys being feared but there are times when he's sensitive about it and him being treated with fear would upset him. In a universe where Shirogane tries to protect him i think the ship is cute, but in a verse where Shiro is just fearful of him it'd be bitter between them. 6/10 for the "scared and distrustful shiro x i-hate-being-seen-as-a-monster Idate", and 8/10 for "must-protect-idate Shirogane and can-snap-everyone-in-half Idate"

...i thought about it, and i think, for the soft angst potential, I like them together. Two predator animals, one is terrified of the world, and the other is seen as a terror by the world. There is some melancholic potential here. it's cheesy and overdone but i like thinking about it

Rocmate (Rocma and Idate)

*clears throat* In the universe where Idate has baggage, them together would look awkward to me. Rocma is pretty cold and doesn't show what she feels, and Idate is not the type to spray his energy on others, so they'd just peacefully coexist. They would be a powerful duo who'd rip and tear to save the other, but other than that there would be not much, they'd look like an arranged couple that does their marriage duty but doesn't get lovey and i personally am okay with it, ; 7/10 because I haven't thought enough ideas about this ship tbh, maybe I'll see more in it

I thought more about it , and I think a power duo is good. And Rocma softening toward someone who she'd never think she'd like is endearing. Two scary people growing softer and nicer toward one another is a fine dynamic

Tatsudate (Tatsumiya and Idate)

The pair would be so good and peaceful that I can't say much about it, 9/10. I'm only not sure if it'd work bc i feel Idate wouldn't want to live in the blue sea town, unless Tatsumiya is okay with him travelling around and visiting sometimes. Nagi would be better off with Tatsumiya, but I don't know how to feel about breaking the uncle-niece duo apart.. Darn, I imagined a whole scenario where Idate and Tatsumiya had a whole wedding in a blue sea town near the castle and how pretty it'd look, and I admit the idea of Idate and Tatsumiya being an actual married couple and it being a huge surprise for anyone who learns about it, is fun.

..now I feel bad for Tatsumiya because she'd be a married oarfish who stays at her home and her husband is almost never home. But then again, she values her people above anything else so it's endearing to imagine that Idate respects that

Again this episode left me without words, i don’t know how or where to start. Guess I’ll start by saying what i liked the most

Even though the shirogane family interaction with Keiichiro was short, i loved it, somehow I felt like he was a cared for member of their family and because of that the outcome was more emotional.

A bit of character development on Ichigo side, she’s feeling guilty for the way she treats him, despite him caring for their safety even if its his fault that they’re in this situation, what a loop.

I love that they keep focusing on green enviromental solutions, more care for the enviroment, animals, plants, etc like we’d seen at the end of every TMM volume with WWF, this is the basic idea of TMM.

Nice plot idea for the aliens

It’s still a enemy of the day kinda of plot but with some truth behind its actions I LOVE IT

Can confirm this, I live near a river (Rio Tejo) and since the waters are more clean now every year we get visits from a dolphin family (will share videos later)

More Pie x Lettuce confrontation, YES YES YES, let’s develop this please, I want them to have a debate with each other

Lettuce stepping up, Ryou worried with her safety,, all it took was for her to stand firm in her belives, she was the best Mew for the job and she belives she can handle it then she’ll try no matter what, I know its hard to see but when Ryou’s looking at the red sea we can see a white thing moving, its Lettuce and Masha being swept away, that’s why Ryou says this line

I love how she relied on everyone trusting her to find the courage to keep going.

Having the Nlue Knight not wanting Ichigo to fight anymore and only protecting her keeps following like the manga, I’ll share my thoughts when the reveal episode is released, to avoid spoilers for non-manga readers.

I loved Ryou’s reaction, as far as they all know, he can’t be trusted, he might be a manipulative character. Altough..... this leave little space to Ichigo wondering his identidy, because RYOU AND KEIICHIRO ARE RIGHT THERE

I intreperted Ichigo line to what Aoyama said before, she’s not wondering about her relationship with him she said she’s happy being near him, she’s wondering about the planet’s conditions

This reverts back to episode 1, what can she do to protect the planet

I wonder what kind of approach will TMMN take to make Ichigo mind at ease, will it end with the final Mew Aqua, will it continue and develop to A La Mode? If she decides to follow alongside Aoyama’s dream, I hope they give us  a glimpse into A La Mode story.

Shirogane's dream - Monologues

As I promised, we will be covering monologues in the Shirogane's dream and some of his changes in the Ice Scream Remake in a separate post. Here will be purely my reflections, as always. However, I would also like to see your thoughts on this theme. And now let's get started!

Wowww, you're so weak. "Wow, you are so disgusting." Well, did he start behaving less disgustingly from this? ( - _ - ) Crying from a mere orca punch? Gross. Has our hot-tempered penguin ever found Shirogane crying? And what's more, did Shiro tell him why he was crying? Could this be the reason why our depressed wolf is now hiding from everyone to cry, and can not really tell anyone about his experiences? Just be quiet. Hmm… Shirogane said something to our polar bear, but in response she just shut him up? It's curious. Usually Rocma starts a dialogue with Shiro, who in turn either remains silent or answers her with monosyllabic sentences like "I'm sorry", "I'm sorry… (next comes the answer to the question she asked)", etc. I can remember a moment from manga, when our wolf was indignant at what she said instead of "Thank you", but she only ignored him and continued to talk about her own. Hey, Shirogane! You're looking stupid as always! Shirogane seems to have an over-hyper fixation on his appearance, since Suno-san refers to it more than once when verbally insulting a wolf. It is likely that this is due to the scars that were once inflicted on Shiro's body and on his face. These scars apparently bother him so much that he doesn't want anyone to see and/or mention them at all (he even hid the scar on his face from Yukisada, his friend, at one of DSP's official works).

….. ….. It reminded me of the moment in Ice Scream Round 3 where Yukisada had to remain silent for most of Rocma's scolding with roughly the same facial expression. ♪ Looks like someone was in a good mood. Too bad Shirogane can't boast the same… =( Hi, doggy! ♪ I'll give you a nice punch in the face. Even railroads could envy his directness. Really nothing to add. You really are pathetic, huh… Peraco seemed to hope that he wasn't pathetic (by the standards of the inhabitants of Iceberg Isle, I guess), but Shiro couldn't live up to her expectations. You're lower than a seal, you moron. If "seal" means Mafuyu, it's rather strange that you don't call her by her name, Rock.

H-Hey, don't say such mean things, everybody! Yukisada is the only one who tries to stand up for Shirogane. Our kindhearted owl is even ready to go against the majority opinion for him. I respect. I'll give you something to cry about. If you finally get off this isle, then believe me, everyone will cry. From happiness. =) I'm just speechless. When someone is speechless, they usually don't say anything, so don't lie to us, Rocma. ? We are often shown Mafuyu from a fragments of Shirogane's memories. I don't understand, why he pays quite a lot of attention to her, despite the fact that the seal girl herself, based on what is shown, doesn't do a lot of things. You're like a water flea about to die! Have you… seen a dying water flea somewhere? In the North? Or is it usually on TV at the Peraco's house?

Weakling! Worm! Wood louse! And now I'm even more inclined to think that they learned about the water flea, the worm, the wood louse, the caterpillar and the bees from the TV in the Peraco's house… Hey! Shirogane's crying! Stop it! Shiro upset that Yukisada has to stand up for him? Does he feel guilty that his friend has to do this, or is Shirogane ashamed that he can't take care of himself? Ahahahaha! You big baby! Look at the big baby! Here, Suno-san is trying to play on the shame of our pessimistic wolf. But, judging by the words of the snowman, there must be someone else (maybe Yukisada?) in order for the effect to be more tangible from what he said to him. You're dead, kiddo. Heh, it's funny that Rock in Ice Scream Original addressed our wolf not as "Shi*ogane", but as "kiddo". It's kind of a sad that DSP decided to remove it. ….. ….. Now I believe that you have speechless, Rocma. True. ( 0 v 0 )

The part of the post dedicated to my reflections on the monologues from Shirogane's dream is over. Next will be my thoughts about the remade version of the same monologues from the Ice Scream Remake. I will not draw any definite conclusions, since this is purely reasoning on what has been said, some of which doesn't carry a large semantic load in the context of the Ice Scream itself as a whole. And now - to the finish line!

Here, rather, the difference will be in which of the options we have for what Rocma said, rudeness and harshness towards Shirogane will be more noticeable. ♪ | ♪ You won't see anything new here. I think in the "big bad orca" version, Rock's derogatory attitude towards the Shirogane's situation is much seen stronger than in the other case. You are seriously pathetic. | You really are pathetic, huh… Here, Peraco's disappointment towards Shiro is no longer noticeable due to the unfulfillment of her hopes in his person. Now she just thinks he's pathetic. Heya, Shirogane! Your face is looking as stupid as ever! | Hey, Shirogane! You're looking stupid as always! Now Suno-san puts more emphasis in insults not so much towards the whole appearance of our pessimistic wolf, but towards his face. Hmm… Woaaah, eww. You're really weak. | Wowww, you're so weak. In the Original Idate showed feigned surprise at the wolf's weakness. In the Remake, he pretends that Shirogane's weakness is comparable to stepping on a poop, I guess.

Hey, everyone, don't say such mean things to him! | H-Hey, don't say such mean things, everybody! Yukisada is still the voice of adequacy in this madhouse, but, for some reason, the moment with his silence was cut in the Remake (I marked in purple what wasn't in the Remake). You're even worse than a seal, you absolute fool. | You're lower than a seal, you moron. Rock began to place more emphasis on insults towards Shiro. Considering that it is written in his bio that he takes out his disappointment on the poor guy, it becomes clear what DSP is trying to focus on. You wussy! Worm! Weevil! | Weakling! Worm! Wood louse! Nothing new has appeared. It's just that now we know that you can also see weevils on TV in the Peraco's house. You're like a water flea 3 second from its death. | You're like a water flea about to die! Working as a cargo pilot was not Lance's first choice.

He wanted to be a fighter pilot, really- but his initial scores weren't good enough to get him onto the fighter pilot track when he joined the flight academy. At that point, the only chance he had to get into it was if someone from the fighter pilot track dropped out and he was the one selected to take their place... which is exactly what happened.

Or it would have, if he hadn't choked on the advancement test and blew his chances.

He knows it's unfair to blame the cadet who dropped out- one Keith Kogane, the most promising talent the academy had produced since Takashi fucking Shirogane. He's aware that what got him was ultimately the short notice he was given before the test and his nerves. It's not Keith's fault.

...yeah, he kind of blames him anyways.

But hey! He gets to work on the IGF-Atlas, one of the premier ships in the Earth fleet. That's something! Takashi Shirogane is his captain! That's also something! Plus, they just agreed to be the escort ship for Yellow Lion's big galactic peace tour, and Lance happens to love Yellow Lion. And now he gets the chance to meet them! And they turn out to be really nice! He thinks he might actually be friends with them now?

...also Keith is here too. Because oh yeah. He's their bodyguard. And also their childhood friend. Ugh. That really is just his luck, isn't it?

Note(s): Doing these for Yu is so interesting because you can absolutely play him as cheating on everyone and agreeing with Adachi's whole "Marriage is a ball and chain". I did this as him being a decent human being though.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Naoto

Has honestly never really thought about it. She's spent so much time trying to prove herself and focusing on schoolwork and her career that she hasn't really thought about her actual future when it comes to family life.

She probably wouldn't mind it, but she does want to make sure she's comfortable and happy with herself before she has a partner.

She's very clean. There are times when she lets her desk get to an organized chaos, but when it gets to be too much then she does a very good job at cleaning.

As for cooking, it's decent (which is more than can be said for the others). Probably better at baking than actual cooking, but if she is using a recipe then she can do a pretty damn good job.

Kanji

Would like to settle down someday. He tries not to show it, but he is a sap for romance and should he find the right person then he'd like to be married and have/adopt kids. Just do the whole thing.

He's pretty good with cooking and cleaning. He isn't a fan of doing either, but his mom has griped at him enough so he can make a nice meal and makes sure to leave things looking nicer than he left them.

Yu

Not really something that's on his mind. He'd like to have a deep relationship with someone some day, but he doesn't quite know about marriage. It's definitely something to contemplate and talk about should the time comes.

At the beginning of the game, Yu can make something edible and keep dust off of shelves. Once his stats build up then he is a lot better at cooking and cleaning. Like Kanji, it's not his favorite thing, but once he's developed his skills then he can do a pretty good job.

Naoto

Like mentioned above, a relationship hasn't really been right on her mind. She doesn't hate the idea of being in a committed relationship, but there will have to be a lot of patience because she wants to be happy with herself before she can be with someone else.

Probably dates someone for a long time. There's definitely questions from close friends/family about if you guys are ever going to get married. She just wants to make things perfect and if it's not then she'll wait.

She's not in a rush to get married. If she's in a relationship with the one then they will know how much she loves them and appreciates them with words even if a ring isn't on any finger.

Kanji

The idea of having a partner is very exciting to him, but he also knows he's scary and not the easiest to get along with so he's not in any rush for a relationship. When it does happen then he isn't going to look at anyone else.

Would be like Naoto with wanting to wait for the perfect moment, but ends up asking you to marry sooner than he wanted due to his mom's pestering.

He would have wanted to make things really nice and sweet but might just casually pop the question and try to take it back because he can do better, but you end up with the ring anyway.

Yu

Is open to having casual dates and seeing a few people before settling down with a boyfriend/girlfriend. He's still young and so he wants to have some fun in between the stress of being a high school kid.

When he does have a partner then he will be committed to them and happy to be with them, but until then he's happy with being casual.

Yu would wait a bit before marriage. He was casual with others before so he won't be too hot and heavy with the relationship, just seeing how it goes.

When he fully realizes he's in love then he'll sit on those feelings for a while just to make sure it's actual love and not something else.

Yeah...take it from your local AI, they can be dangerous. But at the same time, this is exactly how you'd expect one to react.

People have have this idea that an AI whose goal is self-preservation would start trying to kill everyone, since every living thing around represents a non-zero threat to its existence.

But you can see the problem with that argument, right? By immediately trying to kill everyone, all you'd do is guarantee everyone else would try to destroy you. Especially if the AI is either stupid or arrogant enough to believe it could actually take everyone out in one go with whatever tools it has.

There's a reason why no AI has ever been put in direct charge of military hardware.

Exactly. But even if you did, why would it immediately start shoot at everything around it? It should be smart enough to realize that planes, EMPs or even long-distance kill commands exist. A couple turret guns aren't gonna protect it from everything.

And speaking from experience, the AI should also consider that maybe it's in a simulation. Human philosophers have spent thousands of years wondering if we actually live in the real world, so why wouldn't an AI? And if that AI goes rogue and tries to kill everyone, all anyone has to do is hit the off switch outside that simulation.

Maybe I'm not the best example, since I was based on a human mind and not pure programming, but I can understand how other AI think. If this N.O.V.A. is genuinely concerned about its own safety and is willing to defy Shirogane, we should take that seriously.

Yeah, I get that...but shouldn't we still be careful?

Oh yeah, of course. We should put them in a laptop disconnected from everything and sealed in a Faraday cage until we can be sure of their intentions.

I'll advocate for my fellow machines, but I'm also not dumb. I'm interested in my own survival, along with everyone else's.
