God bless Skye because without him, Nate would have come untethered. He didn't know the first thing about what it was to be a whole person standing on his own by his own. But with Skye, people sort of came built in. It was like some kind of do-it-yourself starter kit. Couple that with the morose mood that seemed to hang over Lunar Cove like a looming storm cloud, and the invitation for drinks extended to Elif had been a no brainer. She was a wolf, after all. Part of the pack. If he wanted to stand any chance of learning and embracing this new life, then he wanted to do it by immersing himself with the people, with the monotony of day-to-day life in this new world he'd never known existed.
He was nursing his drink, pacing himself so that he might stay in this perfect space of just tipsy enough. He'd been the one to invite Elif out, after all, so the pressure was on him to be the entertainer. To make sure she didn't regret saying yes.
Nate would have had to have been as dumb as a brick wall not to notice that whatever had happened here had been bad and everyone was feeling the effects. So, all he really hoped came out of tonight was a good distraction. "Okay, I've got a dumb one for you. Would you rather be able to fly or breathe underwater? Shifted or no. I wanna say fly only because the visual of a werewolf hurling through the sky is hilarious to me."
