I've finished reading amitcod and I enjoyed it, I loved the authorâs writing style. I was oddly more invested in emorys and tony's drama than in the canon era backstory. anyway 3/4 into it I started to wonder if this was set in the usa and I had somewhat missed it because all those mentions of scorching heat and shorts and flip-flops were pulling me out. like magic is fine I guess but multiple mentions of hot weather during summer? in the uk? that's what stretches my suspension of disbelief too far apparently. anyway what was the deal with the beer bottle do you think cause I'm still wondering
ahhhh i'm SO happy you liked it. I always get nervous after I've gone so hard on recommending something - yesss the writing style is one of my favourites and I keep going back to it when writing my own fic to try and emulate it.
right!!! yeah of all the reincarnation 'they don't know who they were' storylines it's my favourite for this exact reason - the """fake""" merlin and arthur don't feel fake at all. they're their own fucking people and you become attached to them as individuals and it makes you really resonate with that conflict of 'no I am my own person not this fucking medieval guy'. it's what stood out to me so much when I read it for the first time. I love those two so much and funnily enough it's whats made it kinda hard to recommend this merlin fic - I wanna rant about emory and tony and everyone's like who tf are these guys
there are so many details in this fic that was so refreshing after reading many a reincarnation fic (or most modern aus tbh) - this was like such a flip on the usual format, and the red herring at the beginning with tony's mate?? I think I fell in love with derryere's writing from that point like. oh fuck okay. we're not spoonfeeding this shit. I love it
yeah tbh I'm not sure? maybe derryere is not from the UK and this had influenced the writing - I suppose with reincarnation anything is possible! I do enjoy writing that doesn't feel the need to cement itself in any tangible or specific place - maybe for this fic it adds to the surrealness, the floating, kinda listless feeling they both had
oh that beer bottle. who fucking knows. wouldn't put it past him honestly
#thank you so much for reading and talking to me about this fic#also thank you for being patient whilst I replied <3#I knew I wanted to write paragraphs so I had to wait for my brain to be in the right state of mind to fully do your ask justice#there's so many parts of it I want to rant about but I never want to spoil it for people#I think the emotional journey these two go on was the most enrapturing part of it for me#asks#accidental memory in the case of death#amitcod#merlin fic

Thursday
Yawning, you toyed with the sausages and baked beans of the full English breakfast that Wesley had treated you to on your final morning at his and Joeâs flat. Occasionally, youâd take a bite of the food in front of you. You hadnât slept at all last night, too afraid to miss precious time with Joe. The man in question was sitting beside you, silently watching you play with your food, nibbling on a fried mushroom.
Joe had fallen asleep rather quickly after a sweet kiss goodnight and yet another promise that youâd make it work. You guessed that dealing with your doubts must be very exhausting for him, so you decided to just watch him sleep. Occasionally, he would mumble in his sleep and even form fully comprehensible sentences. Some of them were odd and made no sense at all whilst others were just plain out funny. You had to pull yourself together so you wouldnât laugh out loud. Most of the time, he slept peacefully, and you liked to think that your gentle touch through his hair and comforting back rubs played a role.
Letting out a sigh of defeat, you set down the fork next to your plate and ran both of your hands down your face.
âEverything alright, love?â, asked Wesley, his mouth full of baked beans.
âYeahâŚsorry, Iâm just not that hungry, but the food is delicious.", you replied apologetically.
Wesley swallowed down his bite of food and smiled at you compassionately. As you looked at his kind face, guilt washed over you because you knew how much effort he had put into the breakfast you had silently watched him prepare. Determined not to disappoint him, you picked up your fork again and forcefully stabbed a whole sausage with it, quickly biting off half of it. Joe raised an eyebrow at you, stifling a laugh, whilst Wesley couldnât help but burst into laughter.
âHey, you donât need to force yourself to eat it.â, Wesley explained, still chuckling after you had swallowed your bite of sausage. âIf you want, we can pack it into a container so you can take it with you and eat it on the plane.â
You nodded curtly and set down your cutlery once more, pushing your plate away from you and instead picking up your morning tea, gingerly bringing it to your lips.
âOK.â, Wesley announced after he had cleared his plate, rising from the chair. âI have to leave soonâŚoh come on, love, no, no, noâŚno sad faces right now.â, he chided you softly when he noticed your teary eyes and downturned lips. Joe immediately leaned over from his chair and placed a gentle kiss to your temple, tenderly resting his hand atop yours, which was now gripping the tableâs edge. He soothingly rubbed your hand, trying to get you to relax your grip. Eyes unfocused, you stared blankly at the wall across the table. You weren't ready to say goodbye to Wesley just yet; you needed more time.
Wesley, whose face was now also reflecting sadness, knelt beside you and lightly tapped his finger on your thigh. Slowly, you blinked, refocusing your gaze, and turned to face him. His hand now fully rested on your thigh, gently squeezing it.
âLove, believe me. This is hard for me too.â, he explained, a faint smile gracing his lips. âI mean, I gained a new bestie in a few short days. That doesn't happen often, you know. Iâm so very glad I got to meet you, which is why I got you a little something. If youâll follow me.â
Removing his hand from your thigh, Wesley stood up, extending his hand towards you. You looked at him, then at Joe, who managed to make you let go of the table. Now, your hand was in Joe's, his thumb tenderly caressing the side of yours. When you met his gaze, he nodded softly, released your hand, and got up as well.
âGo on. Iâll take care of the dishes.â, he said, placing another kiss on your temple before starting to clear the table. You slowly rose from your chair, placing your hand in Wesley's open palm. He gently led you out of the kitchen and into the hallway, eventually stopping in front of the commode adorned with the various photographs that hung on the wall above it. Letting go of your hand, he opened the top drawer and pulled out a small envelope. He quickly shut the drawer again and slowly turned to face you, soft smile still playing on his lips as he held out the envelope to you.
âHere, this is for you.â
Gingerly, you took it from his fingers and slowly opened it. Inside were several photographs, which you carefully extracted and examined one by one.
The first one captured the lively night at the pub when you first met Joe and Wesley's friends. It showed you twirling and laughing with Becky and Dan whilst Felix, Jack, and Oliver were pictured behind you, gulping down their pints. Standing out amongst them was Joe, whose eyes were filled with adoration as he watched you. The next photo displayed the groupâs broad smiles on the day at the lake, taken by Wesley using his phoneâs self-timer. It was a fantastic shot. The third photo depicted you and Joe, cuddled up and sleeping on the sofa. You had been illuminated only by the hallway's ceiling light; the rest of the room shrouded in darkness.
You looked up at Wesley with a raised eyebrow to which he just shrugged and giggled.
âYou both looked adorable. I couldnât resist.â
You playfully shoved his shoulder, then shifted your attention to the last photograph. It captured Joe and you in a tight embrace at the pub the previous night, your heads resting on each other, as you were swaying gently. Somehow, Wesley had managed to capture just the two of you, with everyone else vanishing from around you.
You stared at the picture for what felt like an eternity when you noticed a few droplets forming on its glossy surface. Gingerly, you brought your free hand to your face, tracing the stream of tears with your fingertips. Wesley, who had been watching you intently, now engulfed you in his arms, holding you close to his chest.
A faint sob escaped your body and Wesley tried to calm you down, gently rubbing your back and shushing you softly.
âTha-ha-nk yo-uh-huâŚIâmâŚgo-ho-nna mi-hi-ss you so-ho mu-hu-hu-huuuch.â, you cried into his chest, and he let you, continuing to stroke your back. You had tried so hard not to cry but to you, goodbyes were one of the worst things to go through and always resulted in you breaking out in tears.
Once your sobs had somewhat subsided, Wesley released his embrace and took the photos from your hand, returning them to the envelope. He placed it on the commode, then took your hands in his.
With tear-streaked cheeks, you finally looked up at him, noticing the tears pooling in the corners of his eyes, which he managed to hold back. You silently wished you were as strong as him but here you were, a blubbering mess instead.
âYouâre very welcome.â, he replied, swallowing hard. âIâm gonna miss you tooâŚso much.â He turned to face the wall above the commode and spoke again. âBy the way, I made copies of the picturesâŚwell only of three of themâŚI canât hang the one of you lovebirds on the sofa on the wall for everyone to see. It's a bit too intimate.â
Following his gaze, you saw three new additions to the photo wall. Sniffling, you let out a choked laugh at his reasoning, understanding the significance. It was an incredibly personal moment, and you were grateful he had captured it, even if Joe and you had been oblivious to it.
âThere it isâŚâ, Wesley smiled and hugged you once more. âIâm gonna miss that smile⌠can I share one more secret with you?
You nodded softly, and Wesley brought his lips to your ear.
"My loneliness wasn't the only reason I rented out Joe's room.", he confessed, prompting you to lean back and look at him, eyebrows furrowed.
"Don't give me that look. It's not that bad... well, maybe it is a little bad, but hear me out, okay? So, yes, I was feeling lonely, but the money thing was a complete lie. I'm not struggling financially. The truth is, Joe has been miserable in his love life for a while. His dates never end the way he hopes. Most women figured out who he was and only wanted one thing from him. Sure, he had his fair share of flings, but as his best mate, I knew he wanted something more serious. I tried to help him, set him up on more dates, and we even tried countless dating apps. Nothing worked. Eventually, he gave up.â, he explained as you stood there, still in his embrace, shocked and feeling sorry for Joe. You couldn't imagine how challenging it must have been for him, knowing that women were only interested because of his newfound fame.
âSo, you listed the room on AirBnB? Out of all places?â, you asked incredulously.
âYes. I mean. I had a plan. Besides, I received numerous inquiries. I went through all of them, and then I saw you, and it felt perfect."
âJesus Christ, Wesley.â, you scolded, wriggling out of his arms. âThis could have gone in a completely different direction, you know." Â
âBut it didnât.â, he replied, sporting a smug grin.
âNo, it didnâtâŚwhich is crazy.â, you agreed.
âLook, I noticed Joe's interest after your brief interaction the night you met. I just had to work my magic."
You rolled your eyes at him and eventually pulled him into your arms, hugging him tightly.
âThank you.â
âIt was my pleasure.â, he retorted, returning your hug. "Just one thing, don't say a word to Joe about this, or he'll tear me a new arsehole.
âOK. I wonât tell him. But you definitely deserve a new one.â, you giggled softly, releasing a deep sigh.
Wesley let go of you and clapped his hands together.
âIâm really sorry, love. But I have to get going. My boss won't be pleased if I'm late for work again.â, he pouted, beckoning you into one more hug.
âIâm gonna miss you, Wes.â
âIâm gonna miss you too, love. Have a safe flight, and text me once you've landed.â
You nodded, tears welling up in your eyes once more, but Wesley shook his head, planting a tender kiss on your now dried cheek, then releasing you for the final time.
âTake care.â
âYou too.â
---
After Wesley had closed the door behind him, Joe enveloped you in an embrace from behind, and you leaned back into his chest.
âAre you alright?â
âNot really.â, you confessed, and he nodded, planting a gentle kiss on the top of your head. You both stood there for a few minutes, motionless, until you finally spoke up.
âI have to finish packing my things.â
Joe nodded and hesitantly let go of you, taking your hand and leading you into his bedroom where your open suitcase and backpack were on the floor. Sighing, you eyed them warily.
"I'll go grab my toiletries. Baby, would you mind putting the rest of my clothes back in my suitcase? I'd appreciate it.â, you asked Joe with a defeated tone. Nodding, he approached the bed where a few items of clothing and two pairs of shoes were still laid out. He carefully picked up the shoes and placed them inside the netted compartment of your suitcase. You observed him for a moment, then turned and walked off to the bathroom.
Grabbing your washbag, you collected your scattered belongings, finding your hairbrush in the soap dish of the bathtub alongside your razor. Half of your lotions, face creams, and other skincare products, as well as your makeup, were scattered across the sink and floor. It took you ten minutes and two more searches through the cabinets and drawers until you were certain you had everything.
Closing your washbag, you returned to Joe's room to find him standing inside your suitcase with a huge grin on his face. You stopped dead in your tracks, raising an eyebrow and gaping at him in bewilderment. Shaking your head, you couldn't help but snort.
âWhat are you doing, Joe?â, you asked with a light chuckle, taking slow steps in his direction.
âI packed up the last of your things. Now all you gotta do is zip it up. If I curl up in a foetal position, you might be able to smuggle me through airport security.â, he explained animatedly. You took one more step forward, stood on your tiptoes and placed a soft peck to his lips.
âOh, how I wish I could do that.â
Taking his hands in yours, you gently tugged at them, making him step out of the suitcase. As his feet touched the ground again, he leaned down slightly, capturing your lips in another tender kiss.
âI need to call a cab soon, my flightâs at 1:00 PM and itâs already 9:30 AM.â, you said, pulling away from the kiss. Kneeling down on one knee, you brought the suitcase closer, placed your washbag inside, and zipped it up.
âYou donât need to call a cab. I can drive you to the airport.â, Joe sweetly offered, helping you up from the floor and pulling your suitcase up as well.
âNo, baby, you donât have to do that.â, you politely declined, putting on your denim jacket and checking your trouser pockets for your phone, âBesides, didnât you have an interview scheduled for this afternoon?â
âI cancelled it. Said I had a family emergency.â, he casually confessed. Your mouth fell open and your eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets at his nonchalant admission.
âJoseph Anthony Francis Quinn! You shouldnât have done that. You canât just put your life on hold because of me.â, you berated him, placing your hands on your hips. Joe initially looked incredulous, not expecting such a reaction, but upon seeing your flared nostrils and furrowed brows, he burst into laughter.
âI mean it! Donât laugh at me!â
âYouâre adorable, darling.â, he commented on your anger, taking the two steps that were in between you to close the distance. âBesides, right now, you and the limited time I have left to spend with you are more important than some silly magazine interview."
His lips were now mere millimetres away from yours and his arms wrapped around your waist. You released a shuddered breath, your anger melted away to be replaced with new tears welling up in the corners of your eyes. Softly, he hushed you, moving one hand to your face, delicately wiping away the unshed tears from your eyes down your cheeks and sealing his caress with his plump lips against yours.
In all the years you had spent on this planet, no one had gone out of their way for you like Joe had done multiple times these past few days. And that fact showed you how much he already cared for you. It was just very overwhelming for you to accept even the tiniest and most common gestures.
Reluctantly, you pulled away from his lips and cleared your throat, averting your eyes and looking down at your hands.
âThank you.â, you whispered softly. âAnd sorry for chiding you.â
Chuckling softly, Joe shook his head and bent down to pick up your backpack, swiftly slinging it over his shoulder.
âItâs fineâŚgo put on your shoes. We have to leave in five minutes otherwise youâre gonna miss your flight.â
At first, you didnât move a muscle. Missing your flight seemed like a great idea, but then Joe moved behind you, placed his hands on your shoulders, and shoved you towards the hallway.
âWait! I need to say bye to your bedroom!â
He rolled his eyes and went back to get your suitcase.
âFine. Iâll wait by the door.â
He grabbed your suitcase by the handle and pulled it behind him to the bedroom door, playfully slapping your bum as he passed you, causing you to yelp softly.
âIdiot.â, you muttered under your breath, then turning to take one last look at his bedroom. You would miss his incredibly comfortable bed, which was ten times better than yours at home. And you would miss his so called âorganised chaosâ. But most of all, you would miss the time spent together in this very room. With a sigh, you turned and walked out of his room, closing the door behind you. Just as you were about to make your way down the hallway, the open living room door caught your attention. Glancing at Joe, who was now impatiently waiting by the front door and tapping his wrist, you nodded towards the living room, asking permission to say goodbye to it as well. He rolled his eyes once more, and you peeked inside the living room, soft smile on your face.
âGoodbye, living room. I will miss you.â, you said, then turned to the sofa, feigning disgust. "Although I won't miss you. You evil piece of furniture."
You heard a snort coming from down the hallway, followed by a whiny voice.
âBabe. Come oooon! Itâs 10 oâclock! We have to go now.â
âOK, fine. Iâm coming. Just tell me to my face that you want to get rid of me.â, you replied, exaggeratingly stomping towards him, crouching down, and deliberately putting on your shoes at an extra slow pace.
âYes. Please. I can't stand having you around and taking up Wes's and my space any longer.â, he deadpanned, grabbing your hand and opening the door, practically dragging you out of the flat. You then rushed down the stairwell and out of the house to one of the parking spaces on the street where his car was parked.
He placed your suitcase in the boot before climbing into the driverâs seat and handing you your backpack.
âYou ready?â
âNo.â
âOK. Letâs go.â
---
Hand in hand with Joe, you patiently stood in the short queue at your airline's check-in counter, waiting to drop off your luggage. You thanked whoever was up in the sky that online check-in existed in these times you were living in because Londonâs traffic had once again proven to be a nightmare. It took you a gruelling hour and 15 minutes to reach London City Airport from his flat, and time was slowly but surely ticking away. You were well aware that in a couple of minutes you had to say goodbye to Joe and the uncertainty, not knowing when you would see him again, weighed heavily on your mind.
ââŚthank you. Hereâs your receipt.â, the lady at the counter, whose professional smile showed a trace of sympathy, spoke to you, holding out your passport and receipt for you to take. Your mind being elsewhere, you didnât notice that she was talking to you. Joe smiled at her and took your documents, exiting the queue to your left. As London City Airport was relatively small, you knew that taking the escalators upstairs would lead you directly to airport security. However, you weren't ready to go just yet because it meant leaving Joe behind.
Joe led you away from the bustling crowd, finding a quiet corner, his face displaying a sad smile. Seeing him like this almost made you break down on the spot. He spoke to you, but his words didn't register as you just saw him holding up his hand towards you, signalling for you to wait a moment. It finally sank in that this was it; you had to say goodbye. Your flight would start boarding in an hour. Shit - this means I only have 15 minutes to say goodbye to him. Iâm not ready. No. No. Please. I am not ready!
Unaware of your inner turmoil, Joe had one hand rummaging through his pocket, his forehead creased in concentration, and his tongue peeked out from between his lips. You were blanky staring at him, tears burning in your eyes and lips trembling.
With a soft ahh he pulled something out from his trousersâ pocket and held it up in front of your face. Refocusing your eyes, you saw a delicate golden necklace, but what caught your attention was what dangled from it. You glanced at Joeâs hand and sure enough, his favourite ring was missing. The bulky sterling silver ring provided a striking contrast to the slender chain.
Your lips quivered and he motioned wordlessly for you to turn around which you did instantly. Once he had closed the clasp and laid the necklace gently against your skin, you turned around, covering your face with your hands as tears now silently flowed down your cheeks.
âYou shouldnât have, Joe.â, you mumbled into your hands. âThis is your favourite ring.â
âAnd youâre my favourite person, so itâs only right that you keep it.â, he pulled you into his arms and you slung yours around his neck tightly, leaning up to press your lips against his. Suddenly, you felt a cool sensation on your arms and pulled back slightly to look up at who you now certainly could call the most important person in your life. He also had tears spilling down his face as he fought to hold back a trembling sob.
âBaby.â, you cooed softly trough your tears, pecking his lips again. âThank you so much. Iâm gonna wear it every dayâŚIâm really sorry, I donât have anything to give to you.â
âYou donât have to.â, he whispered back, his voice filled with tenderness. âSpending the past few days with you was enough to fill me with happiness. I will cherish every second right here.â He took one arm from around you and placed it over his heart, smiling softly through his tears, causing you to sob even harder.
Placing both hands on either side of your face, he drew you in for another deep, passionate kiss, caressing the apples of your cheeks with his thumbs. You kissed him back, leaving both his and your lips slightly swollen. Pulling back slightly, Joe whispered against your lips.
âWanna know a secret?â
You nodded in response.
âI really, really like like you and Iâm gonna miss you so so much.â
Sniffling, you nodded again, opening your mouth slightly to speak against his lips.
âWanna know a secret too?â
Now it was his turn to nod, a small smile gracing his lips.
âI really, really like like you too and Iâm also gonna miss you so so much.â
You were now both smiling against each otherâs lips, tears still streaming down your faces, leaving salty trails on your chins, and staining your shirts and the floor below.
âGood thing weâre on the same page.â, Joe uttered, removing one of his hands from your face and wiping his with the sleeve of his thin jumper. âOtherwise, I might have had to take back my ring.â
You shook your head at his statement, pulling him closer to you again. He wrapped one arm around your shoulder and moved his other hand, that was still on your face, to wipe away your tears.
âCome one, darling. Time to go upstairs.â
You nodded softly and he let go of you, taking your hand in his once more. Slowly, you two made your way up the escalators to where the queue for checking the boarding passes started. Joe pulled you aside once more, holding your hands in his.
âThis is it.â, he started, and you nodded, taking a deep breath. âPlease call me when youâve landed. If you forget, I will take the next flight and personally make sure you got home safely.â
You tilted your head to the side, a quaint smile forming on your lips.
âIs that a promise?â
âBabe. No. It should be a threat.â, he groaned, throwing his head back.
âSounds like a promise, though.â
âShush, Iâm not finished yet.â, he hushed you, letting go of your hands and briefly covering your mouth with his hand. âPlease call me.â
You nodded, and he continued.
âI promise, Iâm gonna call you every day. We can FaceTime. I love FaceTiming, even when I'm abroad for work, which will be soon. I'm heading to the United States for some conventions, and then I'll be filming my next major film in Morocco - Gladiator 2, baby! Can you believe it? But I'll call you whenever I can, even if it's the middle of the night for me or the early hours of the day. We'll make it work.â, he rambled, his hand still covering your mouth. It was kind of cute, listening to his word vomit.
You gingerly removed his hand from your lips and tenderly held it in yours.
âWe also need to finish watching Stranger Things.â, you declared, glancing up at him, searching for his warm chocolate eyes.
âOh, yes. We can schedule FaceTime dates and watch Stranger Things together.â, he smiled and nodded softly, leaning down to give your lips another peck. Just as he pulled away, your phone vibrated in your pocket, signalling that your flight would begin boarding soon. A lump formed in your throat. This was now it. This was goodbye. Overwhelmed, you couldn't hold back your emotions any longer. They had been building up inside of you for the better part of the last 24 hours and you just couldnât hold it in anymore. Your body shook violently with sobs and Joe pulled you into his chest, swaying you gently. Kissing your forehead, he whispered that everythingâs going to be OK. You nodded stiffly against his pecs trying to regain composure. Giving yourself a couple of moments to even out your erratic breathing, you swallowed hard.
âI have to go now.â, you croaked out and Joe nodded against your hair. He cupped your face for one final time, placing the sweetest, most emotionally charged kiss on your lips, which you returned with equal fervour.
Pulling back, he kissed the side of your mouth, your cheek, and finally your temple before grudgingly letting go of you completely, leading you to the end of the queue. He stood beside you until your boarding card was checked and you were guided through the gate to join another queue for the security check. He gave you one final peck, and then you were out of his reach.
Joe had moved to a corner where he could still see you slowly advancing towards the luggage and body scanners. He was rubbing at his face, wiping away his tears and sniffling loudly, but kept his eyes trained on you and you did the same. With every second step you took, you would turn around and search his face. When it was time to turn the corner, you saw Joe blow you a kiss, which you caught and pressed against your chest. Returning the gesture, you blew a kiss back, and he even made a locking motion over his heart. You snorted softly, a small smile forming on your lips as you shook your head and waved one last time before disappearing behind the wall.
Joe watched you vanish around the corner, your hand still up and waving with that smile on your lips he had grown to adore, his hand still mid-air. He lingered there for about ten minutes before an airport staff member informed him that he couldn't stay in that area and asked him to return to the check-in hall. He apologised profusely and swiftly made his way down the escalator by himself when his phone chimed in his pocket. He took it out and saw a new WhatsApp message from you. You had made it through security and were now on your way to the gate. He smiled down at your message and immediately responded with a string of heart emojis, asking you to keep him updated.
He decided to leave the airport only once your flight had taken off, so he walked over to the waiting area and sat down on one of the seats. Whilst waiting for another update from you, his mind raced. He calculated dates and made mental adjustments, opening his calendar app to confirm his thoughts. Bingo. He was right. He quickly opened his contacts, scrolling through until he found this one particular person he was looking for.
Just as he was about to press the call button you updated him once more that you had boarded the plane which was now taxiing toward the runway and that you already missed him terribly. He replied that he missed you too and wished you the safest flight of all flights that had ever taken place and finished it off with the kissy-face emoji. You quickly sent one back yourself, informing him that you were switching to airplane mode now.
His last reply which read: âOK. Please call me when youâve landed. You promised.â, showed only one tick, indicating that your phone was now truly in airplane mode. Sighing, Joe closed WhatsApp and returned to his contacts and pressed the call button.
He stood up slowly from the row of seats, making his way toward the exit of the airport and the car park. Joe almost hung up after the fourth ring when suddenly, the person he was looking for, answered the phone.
âHey, Alex. Are you busy? No?...Good. Uhm, I just checked my calendar and realised I have nothing scheduled after wrapping up my new projectâŚkeep it that way.â

I'm huge into fandoms, and obviously historical stuff, I'd like to say i don't have many rules but I do have a few rules for roleplay - - Third person only in roleplay please. - I'll only accept people who are eighteen and up since I don't roleplay with minors. - No Gary Stues or Mary Sues. - Please talk to me ooc I'd love to be friends and talk more about our roleplay (if on discord mainly) - Within historical roleplays it isn't always needed to one hundred percent accurately portray horrible actions that may have happened in history, as much as I want historical accuracy I don't want to go too far. - Be patient please, sometimes it takes me a while to respond other times I have all the time in the world, I appreciate people being patient with me. - To start a roleplay you can always reply to my open roleplays, or send me a message! - I do not like script or one to two sentence roleplays, please don't try and do one liners with me. - I love drama in my roleplays so the more drama the merrier, just please plan out some drama with me if we are roleplaying on discord, I love to know what drama my partners can come up with! - Please be okay with LGBTQ+ relationships, as I do M x M and F x F. Thanks for reading my rules, my fandoms are listed below - Fandom List ; Game of Thrones, House of the dragon, Across the spiderverse and into the spiderverse, Texas chainsaw massacre, Halloween, My bloody valentine, Fallout four, MW2 and 3, My little pony gen four and five, MLP Equestria girls, Starwars, AC Valhalla, AC Odyssey, The Simpsons, Jurassic Park, Avatar (the blue people) , Peaky Blinders, Vikings, Narnia, Marvel, TWD (show and game), Hetalia, Hamilton, Ghosts BBC, Yonderland, HTTYD, Our flag means death, Clone high, Z nation, South park, Red dead redemption 2, Elvis presley (not really a fandom but a person lmao-) , Hunchback of Notre Dame (disney version) , The lion king (human AU), Moana, pretty much Disney lmao, Avatar the last airbender (new fandoms in purple :P) Kingdom of Heaven and Planet of the apes

Update: Truth be told I haven't been around that much lately. Not as much as I'd want to be. And whilst I do not wish to drop my blog, I also don't think I will be able to write Roleplays for a longer while. I often feel overwhelmed and I am finding writing through Tumblr increasingly uncomfortable (for a few reasons even excluding the changes to the page design).
But, as I said, I do not wish to drop this blog and my muses (especially considering I'm soon to host an entire event). And for that reason I have come to a conclusion that for the time being (until I may get back in thread mood) I will convert my blog into an ask/one reply only space. What this means is that you can ask my muses questions through anon (or off if you prefer) and our muses can have small interactions (I will write one, max two, posts to reply to the interaction), but I will not be taking on long interactions for now.
If you have any questions about this, feel free to drop a message in the comment section below or even through DMs.
Thank you for being patient! <3

âYo, grandma. Havenât you had too much tea to drink?â his voice echoes in the room as soon as he walks into it. You carefully set the cup down on the dining table and looked at him exasperatedly.Â
âHavenât you had too much care to give?â you snark back, earning yourself a disappointed look from him.Â
âReally, y/n? Thatâs the best youâve got?â he shakes his head at your appalling retort. What a shame.
You were good at pissing him off to be fair. You just werenât in the mood to throw teases back and forth especially now that youâre feeling particularly vulnerable.
The week has been far too dreadful for you and you know that youâre willing to grovel your way into the weekend to finally have the time to slack off, not worry about taking a bath, and just go crazy with a pint of Ben & Jerryâs.
However, just like always, Mathew seems to never run out of ways to get on your nerves.Â
He carelessly puts his stuff on the table, causing a fairly loud thud on the surface.Â
You let out a deep breath, massaging your temple.Â
âSomebodyâs cranky.â he grins. Not necessarily the kind youâd want to see from him.Â
You try to ignore him for a few minutes but you canât help noticing how his build easily took over much of the space youâve already been occupying. You irkingly look up at him, closing the book you were reading. You meet Matâs eyes who just innocently looked back into yours. Waiting. Possibly plotting on yet another sophisticated way to toy with you.
âYouâre a child.â you roll your eyes and return to your reading. He says nothing and instead rests his chin atop his enclasped hands, continuing to bother you with his ridiculously beguiling eyes. He presses his lips together before sighing dramatically.Â
âWhat?â you snap, finally shutting your book down as you look at him.Â
âI wanna go out.â he looks up at you in an effort to make his huge physique smaller than it really was.Â
âThen go out. Youâre a big boy.â you breathe.Â
âYou just said that Iâm a child.â he coos, mimicking a five-year-oldâs voice.Â
âStop that.â you glare at him. Mat props himself back and laughs, âCome on. Im bored.âÂ
You open your book again just as you reply in a tone that Matâs getting used to hearing. âBoredom doesnât give you the right to pester me, Barzal.âÂ
And as an exchange, he speaks in the same tone rather mockingly, âAnd so is that attitude, Y/L/N.âÂ
âCome on, y/n. Letâs go out.â he now pleads, looking up at you with what seems to be his worst impression of a âpuppy eyeâ.
âFine.â you finally concede and you see Matâs beaming smile instantly.Â
âWhereâd you want to go?â you ask as you take your reading glasses off.
âDunno.â He shrugs, obviously teasing.Â
On the edge of being irritated, you say, âAre you kidding me?â
âGrandma.â he mumbles before saying, âDo you have anything you want to do? And please donât say book hunt.â
You suppress a smile and maintain your composure. âIâm craving for pancakes right now but I also wanna drink. Go to a bar or something.â
He nods in agreement. Already stitching his game plan.
âWe can do both.â he bobs his all too fine brows.
He didnât have a hard time getting you on board with his spontaneity. You actually havenât gone out in a while and the thought of a possible night out doesnât seem to be so bad of an idea.
Youâve been with Mat to parties and while the two of you donât mingle as much as the other guys did, he does know his way around the club. The dance floor, however, he tries. He really does.
For about an hour Mathew waited patiently in the living room as he scrolled endlessly on instagram liking a few photos and laughing at posts the fans tag him occasionally. His eyes were peeled away from the screen when he heard the door to your room click. His irises trail onto your body even if he didnât plan to originally.Â
Mathew, albeit dressed simply in his black turtleneck sweater and a beige overcoat exudes just about the right âswagâ (as per how he puts it) to stop you in your stupor. Although what you didnât know was how you werenât any different in his eyes. You were dressed quite nicely in a black lace bodysuit with a pair of blackpants accentuated by the black boots you usually wear on a night out. Your coat was slung on your forearm whilst you held your clutch purse in your hand so you could close the door with the other.Â
âWhat?â you blink just as you look down to eye yourself. Feeling a tad self-conscious under his gaze.
Mat immediately breaks it off. He clears his throat, pretending to wipe off the non-existent dust on the accent table.Â
âWhat?â he mirrors with an arched brow.
You shrug off his demeanor, snatching your keys from the accent table before putting it in your purse.Â
âHave you called a lyft already?â he nods, absentmindedly scratching his temple.Â
âYou ready? You lookâ decent.â He says, trying to act casual and distant when he gives you the compliment.
Not noticing the unfamiliar look his eyes had, you return the compliment and say, âAnd so do you. Good job for not looking like you came straight out of an H&M catalogue.â you wink at him with a grin. A thing which was then reciprocated by a deadpan look on his end.Â
Before he could even come up with yet another clever way to come at you, you start walking towards the door, looking at him once as you motion the way by curling your finger.
âHaul ass, buddy.â
đĽ¸
10:15 PMÂ
Mat decided to bring you to the usual place he goes to when he wants to be alone and just enjoy a couple of beers while he chats with River, the bartender he eventually befriends after years spent drinking in solitude.Â
The bar had a rustic feel filled with wine barrels in the corner of the room. The seats were leather (mind you, it wasnât the kind that gets easily worn out through time) and everything looked new to you regardless of all the vintage stuff displayed articulately on the brick wall. A turntable was set on the table stacked with vinyl records, most of which were from the 70s to 80s underneath.
It was obvious that it wasnât the kind people would know about. Aside from it being located at such a secluded street leading to the suburbs, it wasnât the type of bar kids would want to hang out in. It only had a few customers and most of them wore suits and came with company. No one really gave a hoot when you walked in with Mathew, aka, the face of the New York Islanders. Which is basically the reason why Mat kept coming back to the place. He felt comfortable and at peace. Almost in retrospect to being at home hanging with his father.Â
âI canât believe this place exists.â you say, mouthing your thanks to River as he hands you both of your drinks. The man thatâs definitely aged like fine wine smiles, nodding his head over to Mat who was doing the same before he headed back to mix another set of drinks.Â
âMe neither.â he grins, reminiscing about the time heâs found the small pub by accident.Â
âThis place looks expensive though.â you whisper, making Mathew laugh.Â
âWell, it kinda is.â he sheepishly chuckles. âRiverâs filthy rich.â
âIs he really?â your mouth falls and you look back over the build of the old man. The way his salt and pepper hair was neatly slicked back makes quite a compelling case for what Mat had just said.Â
Mat eventually explains who he was. Apparently, he was just another bored fancy man who happened to love making people drop dead and drunk with his over the top mixes. His dark deep set brown eyes are quite of a crowd favourite too. Case in point, the group of ladies seated from across you and Mathew.
âHey.â you absentmindedly call on Mat who had just sipped on his drink. âI know what we should do.â
âAll right.â he puts the glass down, âLay it on me.â
âLetâs fix you up with one of the girls over there.â you suggest, leaning towards his body so you could get a better view upfront. Mat does not move and instead follows your finger subtly pointing at the other end of the room.
âWhatâs with the sudden fixation of getting me bagged tonight, huh?â he smirks, shaking his head at the idea of having to go home with some random girl. You give him a side eye as you move away from him.Â
âFixation is an overstatement. Weâll be here long enough for us to get sick of each other.â you explicitly told him.Â
Mat eyes you intently. Searching if there was even the slightest doubt in your eyes.Â
Long enough to get sick of each other.Â
He clears his throat instead and looks across the room. âWhich one?â
A gleeful cheer erupts from you just before you look over the girls in question. âWhatâs your type?â you ask him, not sparing a glance.
Mat looks down on you underneath the bar lights accentuating your features. Your eyes had a certain glint in them that Mat still canât get a grasp on. Something that was just enough to spark something inside him. He didnât want to overthink it nonetheless. It must have been just the lights.Â
Once Mat sensed that you were about to look at him he immediately turned his gaze forward, squinting his eyes a little pretending to check out the women youâve been eyeing for the last minute.Â
âI donât really have a type.â he shrugs, casually taking the fragile glass to his mouth.Â
You dismiss what he said at once, âDo I look like a child to you? Just answer it.â
Mat shakes his head, âI told you. I donât have one. If we vibe then we vibe. Simple as that.âÂ
You did not believe him but you decide to drop it off. Instead, you look back and return to your new found mission. Across the bar, seated were three girls busy talking to each other.Â
âGot it.â you tell Mat, nodding your head towards the clueless girl sitting right across from where Mathew was. âThe one in the center.â you add. âThe one wearing a white bodycon.â
âSheâs pretty.â he nods, validating your taste as his potential wingman. âNice smile.â
Your hand met a firm slap on the table as you went on cheering for him. âWell? Go then!â you give him a nudge, taking it back quickly when you feel a slight hesitation on his part, âDonât tell me you need me to introduce you?â
He takes the remainder of his glass and shaked off the kick it had in his throat. âYou just sit and watch, babe.â
You do as youâre told and lean towards the bar, your elbow carrying all your weight whilst you sip on your half-full martini.Â
Mathewâs stance and the way he carries himself immediately caused the girls to notice him coming. Of course, you werenât really surprised. You watch him approach her,â reading along the words leaving his mouth. There was an exchange of proper âhelloâsâ as Mat introduced himself to the girls. He reaches out his hand and the curly noirette in the center gives him a firm shake.Â
Matâs eyes momentarily locked with yours just as you see their hands linger in the airâ tangled long enough for him to make a quick segway. He winks your way as he sees you grin from your seat, shaking your head just after you felt the need to take a deep breath. A thing you assumed to be because of the drink. So, while Mat leads the girl to one of the empty booths and sits across from her, you call on River and ask for another drink.Â
Mathew must have lost track of time by the second drink he shared with Zoe. He learns that sheâs from upstate and was just on the island to visit her friends. Sheâs still working on her major at NYU; coincidentally in the same field as Lianna so that was one of the things theyâve talked about first hand. She wasnât really into sports so Mat steered clear of his job because he didnât want to bore her.Â
âSoâŚâ Zoe smiles and tucks her hair behind her ear. âWhatâs the deal with you and the girl youâre with?âÂ
By the time she asked about you, only then did Mat remember who he was originally with.Â
âOh! Sheâsââ he looks over to where youâre seated only to find you laughingâ no giggling with a man that was obviously a few years older than you. Heâs wearing a neat black suit and a button down shirt with a couple of its first buttons opened. Zoe sees him frown, evidently losing his train of thought.Â
She calls him with her sweet voice, âMat?âÂ
âYeah?â he absentmindedly answers, not wanting to take his eyes off of your hand that was now gently pushing the manâs arm whilst the two of you continue to burst into laughter.Â
âAre you okay?â she asks.
Whatâs so funny?Â
Finally, Mat hears Zoeâs distant voice that eventually took him back to his seat.
âOh. Y-Yeah.â he apologetically smiles. âSorry. What were you saying again?âÂ
She hesitates to ask about you after taking a quick glance your way upon seeing the way Mathew looked at you. Nevertheless, she decides to go for it.
âArenât you two together? I donât want to come off strong here or anything. Itâs just that I donât want to get in between something if there ever is.âÂ
Mat looks at you one more time and as if youâve felt his eyes all along you turn your way and meet his gaze. You shoot him a quiet smile, eyeing the guy sitting beside you, mouthing what he assumes to be an exaggerated âSo hot!â on your end. He reciprocates your smile and gives you an approving nod.
Once you looked away, thatâs the only time Mat finally answered the woman waiting patiently for his attention.Â
âWhat?â Mat shakes his head wildly, blowing out air off his lips defensively. âNo no no. Weâre just friends. Sheâs my roommate actually.â he shrugs you off his mind and instead tries to put his entire focus on her.Â
The remaining hours were spent with you and Mat getting along with your respective potential hook-ups. Not that it wasnât the endgame either of you were hoping for at the back of your minds.Â
Heâs got to admit that Zoe was the kind of girl heâd be interested in. Another fact heâs kept a mental tab not to mention to you because he knows youâll just get cocky.Â
She was sweet and obviously eloquent. He knows sheâs way smarter than heâll ever be. But out of all those qualities, she was just as passionate at her craft as someone he likes to think he knows well enough. And that alone made a small smile creep on his lips.Â
Nonetheless, despite all the aforementioned, Mathew found himself a bit more reserved than he usually is whenever he gets to meet and talk to his potential âlady friendsâ as how youâve put it countless times. He just wasnât his exact self. And he was beginning to question it.Â
There were no fancy hockey plays thrown subtly into the conversation. Neither mentions of golfing nor over the top league events. No butchered french pet names swiftly tucked in his sentences. And no endless questions that would eventually lead to something along the lines of âDo you want to get out of here?â
Well, not until Zoeâs friends got up their seats and she told him herself.Â
âHey. The girls and I are meeting up with some friends in Brooklyn. Dâya wanna come?âÂ
Matâs eyes trail down to her hand now gently caressing his. He raises both his brows thinking of a possible âoutâ because he wasnât sure if it was a smart thing to leave you alone with a stranger.Â
He hums, âSure.âÂ
Zoe shows him a delighted smile before eventually sliding out of the booth to walk towards the bar she and her friends were formally seated.Â
âI gotta use the restroom first. Please excuse me.â she gives him a nod before going back to chatting with her friends.Â
You, on the other hand, see Mat leave the table aiming for an archway you presume to be where the loo was.Â
âHey,â you call the man whose name youâve already forgotten. Your pause was long enough for him to acknowledge the chances that you actually did forget who he was. Obviously.
âChris.â The man in his early 30s answers with a submitting grin.Â
You shyly laugh, squeezing his forearm as you try to apologize for forgetting.Â
âWould you mind if I use the restroom?â you politely ask.Â
âNo, not at all.â he replies and immediately stands to help you get on your feet. Gentleman.Â
Once you are in front of the menâs room, you anxiously wait for your wingman. You hug your purse close to your chest. Not a whole minute after, the door finally opens and you meet Matâs irises with quite a gleeful look.Â
A look he wasnât a fan of for he knew whatâs about to come next.Â
âAre you taking off?â you eagerly ask, almost hopping on your feet.Â
Mat eyes you from head to toe, looking for signs that would stink from a drunk y/n. When he sees none, thatâs when he decides to say that he was.Â
âMkay good. Iâll be on my way too. Chris is taking me to New Jersey.â you tell him, briefly looking through the archway to see if there were people listening.
Once you know youâre clear, you lean towards Mat, your lips dangerously close to the sensitive skin of his ear. Mat feels your heated breath sending a familiar tingle up his spine. âIâll get to ride a yacht tonight.â you bite your lower lip and giddily smile as if you were a cheeky 16 year-old usually depicted in a coming of age movie.Â
âWhoâs Chris?â Mat, in spite of taking rounds observing you all night, finds the need to ask. âAnd why are you coming with him to NJ?â he further questions.Â
âUhâ okay, dad.â you step back for a second. You let out a scoff, checking if he was being serious about it. âI thought weâre supposed to go get laid tonight? Werenât you about to take off with that girl yourself?âÂ
Mat averts your gaze and starts to scratch the corner of his brow. âWell yeah. Itâs just thatâ he looks sketchy.â he pauses, âplus⌠isnât he a little too old for you?âÂ
You roll your eyes as youâve already expected to hear the words from him.Â
âHeâs 31. Heâs not that old.â you say rather defensively so you turn the ball back on his court. âAnd what if he was? Didnât you ask one of the moms out??â
Matâs eyes widens and you try to bite back a laugh. He whispers with a biting tone, trying to save himself. âShe didnât look like one! Iâm gonna kill Beau I swear to god.â
âCome on Barz. Donât be such a killjoy. Text me if you need anything, okay? Wrap things up while youâre at it.â you say at once. Mat doesnât get the chance to talk you out of such a stupid idea because before he even could, youâve already planted a kiss on his cheek and started walking away.Â
Mat waited for the sound of the heavy doors of the bar, signaling that you and your friend have gone, before stepping back to where Zoe was. She waves him near the coat closet.Â
âHi.â Mat greets her friends before eventually turning his attention on the unsuspecting lass. She meets her with a smile (just like what sheâs been doing all night). The same smile, however, drops the second Mat opens his mouth. âCan I talk to you for a sec?âÂ
Zoe nods and willfully abides, letting Mat take her gently by the arm.Â
âWhatâs up?â she innocently asks.Â
âSomething came up.â he says a little too fast than what heâd originally intended. He was going to let her down either way might as well get it over with and rip up the asshole band-aid.Â
âOh.â she says in a tone Mat knew that she completely understood.Â
âNo worries.â she looks at him with a knowing look in her eyes. âIâll see you around then.âÂ
He gives her a kind smile and nods. âTake care.âÂ
Mathew walks towards the bar, catching Riverâs teasing grin whilst he cleans up after the bottles left on the center of the counter.Â
âWhat?â Mat reacts defensively, taking a seat in front of the lone bartender. River faintly shakes his head to leave just enough curiosity in Mathewâs mind.Â
âYouâre such a tool, old man.â the kid says aiming for the cold beer River has put away for himself. River did not mind because heâs grown fond of the star player for the past years heâs spent going on late night drinks at his bar. Years that even justifies a proper amount of time for him to know the inâs and outâs of one Mathew Barzal.Â
âI havenât said a thing.â he shrugs amidst the already wide grin on his face.Â
Thereâs wisdom in his eyes that Mathew has always admired. He wasnât the guy whoâd want to talk about whatâs going on inside his head but with how Riverâs pub seems to be just the right place, he eventually concedes and takes a shot to pick on the old manâs brain.
âCome on, spill it out. I know youâre going to anyway.â Mat gives in, running his thumb on the moist label of the bottle.Â
River wipes his hands before resting it atop the counter. âWell, itâs just thatâ I ainât used to seeing you turn down ladies like that too often. And youâre definitely not one to stick around watching me clean up.â
Mat stays silent for a moment, as if to gather the exact reason as to why he chose to stay. He still has a long way to go before figuring that one out. He wasnât exactly as sharp as he was on the ice.
âI donât know, man.â he chuckles tirelessly, âI guess I wasnât in the mood. Thatâs all.â
âYou?â River shots a brow and dismisses him, shaking his head. When Mat doesnât answer, he carefully picks on his choice of words and lays it down carefully for him. After all, Mathew should have known that River was old enough to not know whatâs going on.
âThough I gotta be honest with you, hijo. Never imagined youâd bring someone here.â he starts.Â
What must have been a shot in the dark for the old man was just enough to tear Mathewâs eyes away from staring at the water beads on the bottle.
âWhat?â
âThe girl, Barz.â he says, banging on the head of the bottle to knock the cap off. âShe a friend?âÂ
âWhat? Y/N?â Mat quirks his brows trailing off where River was exactly headed, âWhat about her?â Oh, her? Yeah, no. Sheâs just a friend.â
âShe pretty.â he speaks in a sound accent, not wanting to let Mat know heâs growing to like catching the young lad off guard. Mathew nods casually despite the continuous blabbering. âSheâs y/n. But yeahâ I guess, she is pretty.âÂ
âThen what are you doing being just friends with a pretty girl?â River inquires, taking a sip of his beer. When he sees him trying to register what heâd just said he then adds, âWhy not be with her? Date her?â
âPsh. What? Date y/n? Thatâs crazy.â Mat shakes his head furiously, âYouâre crazy.âÂ
âWhatâs so crazy about that?â River takes offense, laughing at the childâs naivete.Â
âI canât date her. I meanâ I wonât date her.â he takes the bottle to his mouth, taking a large gulp before continuing, âWeâre in this weird relationship thing. A setup, actually, and itâsâ itâs crazier than dating her. I swear, you of all people wonât get it.âÂ
âWhat makes you think I canât?â he smirks, âIâve had my fair share of crazy.â River points out despite the hesitation in Matâs eyes. âI got all night, kid.â he adds, letting him have the floor to himself.Â
âYou really want in on this?â he second guesses, not wanting to bore the man with his personal life.
River leans against the brass counter just below the lit rack of vintage scotch displayed on the bar. He then gestures him to give a piece of his mind and Mat finally submits to his offer.
âWeâve been in a few⌠prior engagements,â he starts trying to find the appropriate word. âWell, sort of.â
River hums, not necessarily getting on the same page as him so he decides to be upfront about it.
âWeâve⌠slept together.â he confesses.
âSo you used to date her?â the old man asks.Â
âNo.â he answers, âI told you weâre just friends.âÂ
With furrowed brows, River takes a minute. And once Mat hears an all too familiar âOh.â he sees him break a chuckle, shaking his head at the thought of what Mat had just told him. âYou kids have way too much fun these days.â
Mathew shrugs, âHey, I warned you. Told you you wouldnât get it.â
âOkay, make me understand something here. You two sleep together, fool around, do all that shit.â he says, âand you swear youâre not in a relationship?â
âNope.â Mat answers with pride, popping out the word with a hard âpâ.
âHuh.â River clicks his tongue, âHow long have you two been⌠engaged?âÂ
He rolls his eyes when River uses his word, âAbout two months.â he answers shortly.
âIs she seeing anyone since you two started this thing? You know, casual dates, the ones I presume sheâs been getting before you got her into this mess?â he asks him in a tone that only fathers would ever dare to use.
Mat thinks for a moment, trying to recall the last time heâs seen a guy pick you up for dinner besides the old man youâve successfully bagged for the night. He firmly shakes his head no and simply says, âAt least not in my recollection.â
River willfully nods, walking Mat right into the trap. âWell have you been seeing anyone lately?â he asks again, this time slipping a hint of assertion. He hears a crystal clear ânoâ from the forward and thatâs when he broke a goading grin.Â
âAnd youâre telling me you two arenât together?â he asks yet again, getting on Mat's nerves as he continues to flood him with biting queries, building up the final point he was about to break on Mathew.
âRivs, for the hundredth time, no. We are not.â he clarifies.Â
Mat watches River pour himself a glass of scotch, still wearing a smug grin. âImma give you a piece of advice, yeah?â he smiles rather teasingly and doesnât wait for Mat to rebut, âIâm a happily married man so I donât know a single squat about dating nowadays, but if youâre telling me that you kids arenât sleeping with anyone else but yourselves? Looks like a damn relationship to me.â
With his brows all quirked in confusion (and denial in the very least), Mathew gathers all his might just so he could refute whatever madness River was trying to inflict on him and screw him up in the head. But before he could even open his mouth, the sound of the heavy doors was all it took to tear up both Riverâs and Matâs attention.
âHi.â you say the moment you were welcomed by unsuspecting men talking by the bar. River acknowledges you by raising his drink, his gaze landing on Mat the moment yours did.Â
âHi.â Mathew mirrors you in an attempt to drown his already racing heart. A smile impending to break loose at any moment but he manages to suppress it. Instead of dealing with his adrenaline, he gestures for you to take a seat beside him.Â
âWhereâs the sugar daddy?â he laughs the moment you drag yourself from across the room, mocking every word he said.Â
âHis wife called when I got into his car.â you cringe.
âOof. Lovely.â Mat makes the distinct expression on his face just before the two of you share a laugh.
âHeâs not very smooth with adultery. He needs more practice.â you casually state sarcastically, clicking your tongue.Â
As you find the narrative funny, you take a sip on Mathewâs beer. âHow are you not drunk? Youâve been drinking way too much the entire night.â
âWell. Iâve got some things to think aboutââ he cuts himself off upon seeing your mouth ajar, âAnd no, youâre not allowed to ask because none of it concerns you.âÂ
âI wasnât going to.â you dismiss him, excusing yourself to River which he gladly took as his cue to leave.
When he disappeared into the kitchen, you turned your gaze on your friend wearing another one of your mischievous grins, âHey, wanna get pancakes?âÂ
âY/N, itâs almost 3 AM.â Mat sighs, the tiring night starting to creep up to him.Â
âSo?â you question, swatting his hand away when you catch him checking on his watch.Â
âCome on. Stop drinking that.â you insist and take the bottle from his hand before putting it over to the side.Â
The two of you said your goodbyes to the lone bartender who was just starting to clean up again. River gives the two of you a nod of acknowledgement before landing a knowing look on Mathew. One that heâs thankful enough not to be discerned by you.Â
As you walk alongside Mathew, he unconsciously places a hand on the small of your backâ feeling it graze on the fabric of your coat as if to guide you towards the door in an almost romantic type of way. Perhaps, a way someone would behave if they were actually in a relationship.Â
Mat notices your body tense but he doesnât move an inch. Instead, his hand travels to the curve of your waist just as he leads you through the brass doors.
Once youâre out on the streets, he lets go.
đĽ¸
After almost half an hour of fighting over which diner is better to eat and get sober at, you and Mat decide to just try the new diner three blocks from your apartment. Being that it was an ungodly hour, the diner was good as closed when you got in. There were a few people inside and besides the student studying alone in the corner booth, the people lounging in the vacant seats were mostly just staff. Too bad they had to work the grave shift.
Mathew, who was rather preoccupied digging in his breakfast platter, gets interrupted when you call his attention.Â
âSo tell me,â you ask as you take a forkful of syrupy pancake into your mouth. Finally satisfying your cravings. You put the food modestly in the insides of your cheeks when you ask him a question, âWhat are you like on dates?âÂ
Mat disgustingly looks at you. You easily get what such a look meant and you immediately roll your eyes. You let your hand fall in mid-air amidst still holding a fork in it to prove a point. âIâm not trying to ask you out, dumbass. Donât be so delusional.â
He puts his silverware down and wipes his mouth with a napkin. âWhy the sudden interest?âÂ
âJust curious.â you simply say.
He hums, thinking about how he pulls off a first date. He then clears his throat as he takes you down that road. âFirst, Iâm not bringing her to a 24/7 Diner.â you nearly gag. âShe deserves a formal one just in case there wonât be a second date.â he explains.Â
You sit there, nodding your head every now and then as he further goes on the details of how heâs like on a date. âOf course, Iâd put my best foot forward all the time. Talk about her stuff more than mine and make sure she has a good time.âÂ
âHave you ever had a bad first date?â you curiously ask. To which he only answers with a stubborn look on his face, the one only Mat Barzal could pull off. âWhat? me? I donât do bad first dates.â
âOh, fuck off.â you flick his forehead as you laugh. The sound of his laughter echoing in your ears, drowning all the existing noise inside the lone diner.
But as the laughter dies down, Mat catches your eyes as soon as it falls on his. And just like that, there it was again, the exact same glint it had back in the bar. This time, illuminated by the pink shaded light lining up the wall accents of the diner.Â
When he realizes that heâs been staring for too long, he settles on turning the tables on you.Â
âHow about you?â he props in his seat, âWhat are you like on dates?â
âYou know, apart from the fact that youâre obviously into old men.â he snickers and you throw a curly fry on his forehead.
âExcuse me, I donât.â you say sticking up for yourself.
Mat takes the curly fry that has fallen on his plate and proceeds to eat it. âSure you do.âÂ
You roll your eyes, finding it hard to suppress the fact that you might actually do. âThereâs a reason why women like old men, chico.â
He leans back and answers with a level headed and quite teasing reply, âAnd whyâs that?â
âBecause theyâre men.â you look at him with a jerky grin as you continue, âAnd men, especially of Riverâs kind, definitely knows how to eat his french fry.â
Matâs mouth falls wide in disbelief, appalled that youâve actually found a way to pick up a stone and throw it straight to his face just to rub more salt on the fact that you had to teach a 23-year-old grown man how to eat cunt.
âYouâre an ass.â he says, rolling his eyes. You let out a laugh and shake your head. You were proud of yourself, sure; but showing just that is far too much for a boyâs already hurting ego. Who would have known humbling this man was such a task.Â
âIâm playing! You know how to now.â you tell him, âThanks to me, of course.â
He scoffs and takes a bite off his pancakes, âCocky.â
âBut you still havenât answered my question.â he reminds you whilst he wipes off his lips with a napkin.Â
âThereâs not much to tell. You know Iâm not high maintenance.â you tell him, ignoring the fact that you havenât been on an actual date for so long youâre almost sure youâve forgotten how to be in one.Â
âI know itâs cheesy and corny but I do think itâs still in the littlest things, you know?â you sigh. Trying to remember the last relationship (date even) you had wherein those little things, the ones that are merely the bare minimum, were actually given to you.Â
âYou know, itâs not much, really. Maybe just a good talk without having to watch him watch me talk all night when heâs really thinking about how Iâd look naked, you know what I mean?â you laugh it off, âI know, itâs stupid.â
The arrogant man sitting before you was silent for once, profusely wanting to wash the pool of melancholy he sees in your eyes. There must have been a shit ton of guys who overlooked how great of a woman you actually are just because they couldnât stop thinking with the head in between their legs even just for a second.Â
Mathew knows. And he hates that heâs been âthatâ guy at some point. Probably until now considering him thinking with his balls on was the very thing that got the two of you here in the first place.
You take a deep breath, smiling. âAnyway, thatâs better than almost getting with a married man. Right?â
âRight.â Mat laughs, his gray eyes bright under all the lights as he plays with his silverware,â devoid of how much he looked like as if he was utterly and undeniably in awe of not just the energy of the woman sitting in front of him alone nor the fact that she was by far the most unbelievable woman heâs known, but most importantly, heâs yet to realize how much in deep heâs beginning to be for the woman she actually were.Â
Just as she is.Â
đĽ¸
You left the diner a good hour before the sunrise and what must have been a quick five minute drive if you had only taken a cab, became a twenty minute foot race between you and Mathew.
You knew that walking was a bad idea but somehow, Matâs charm and persuasive antics had a better hold than you thought you had on your very capable cognition.Â
As you drag your feet into the confines of the elevator in your complex, you hear Mathew chuckling behind you with a firm hand securely placed on your waist supporting your balance.Â
âYou knowâ and not just âcause Iâm an athlete, can I just say that youâre in a very bad shape?â he says almost a whisper in your ear, his voice low and deep.
You roll your eyes, leaning on the steel cold mirror once he pulls away, âYou do it in heels then tell me whoâs in a bad shape.âÂ
âFair point.â he chuckles yet again, shying away. He presses the number for your floor before resting across from you. As Mat watches you catch your breath, he jokes in the hopes of breaking the ice between the two of you.Â
âSoâŚâ he clicks his tongue, playful eyes looking at you, âWanna tap?â
Disgusted to your very core, you let out a scoff just as you shake your head. âYouâre fucking sick.â you laugh upon meeting his dumb grinning face. Seconds into laughter, Matâs silence kills off the humor. The two of you exchange glances, the smiles on your faces receding into quietude.Â
Mathew didnât want to end the night letting you in the apartment not knowing what heâs been feeling the moment youâve let him drag you out for an impromptu night out. And stupid as it was, the only thing he could think of was to slide his foot across the enclosed space embracing the two of you, nudging on your boot. You on the one hand were rather puzzled as to what caused such language. You send him a mental query by arching a brow. He lets his head fall back on the cold metal surrounding the elevator finally deciding to speak his truth.
âIâm glad we get to hang out now. You know, just like friends do.â he genuinely says.Â
âMe too.â you say, smiling. âI really had fun tonight. Thank you.â
As you meet his eyes, you see a glimmer of softness in his gaze.Â
âGood thing I got bored, eh?â he says with a smirk.Â
âGood thing I came back for you.â you reply.
A quiet smile parts from his lips.
âYeah. Iâm glad you did.â
It was a few seconds when you and Barzy parted from your respective walls to meet the sliding doors as it opened on your designated floor. You were pulling him closer by the tie of his coat whilst his hand was instinctively placed on your hips letting him press his body on you. Your faces were inches from each otherâs, evident of not wanting to prolong the totally unplanned foreplay thatâs about to go down in a communal lift.Â
But just like every film youâve watched your whole life, the inevitable clichĂŠ befalls the two of you when the next words that filled the enclosed walls youâre currently caged in came from the man who has yet to miss a morning jog.Â
âWhat the hell is going on here?â

let's go!
you sighed heavily as your boots clicked along the laminated floor of your university.
today so far had been a hassle. traffic kept you 2 hours late from school you were earlier fired from your job. your ex boyfriend had recently been stalking you and to top it off there was no hot water this morning.
you were beyond stressed.
most of the time you could deal with it you had thousands of stress relieving techniques. but this time you were all types of frustrated, with school, your job, sexually, friendships, family. you sighed heavily as you dragged yourself inside your classroom.
the bright walls of your university aided in your pounding headache. the distinct smell of coffee and muffins flooded your nose as you blinked slowly.
the tall dark bookcases shielding you from the sunlight as you sluggishly made your way to your seat.
you slumped down on your chair as you massaged your temples in effort to calm your self down. your headache clouded your vision immensely you hastily downed your water and some paracetamol nursing your forehead throughout.
you hadnât been out on a real date in months. it seemed like the universe didnât want you on dates, you rarely ever found yourself being okay with that fact.
whilst in a trance your best friend jimin walked excitedly into the classroom.
he constantly and i mean constantly reminded you off the things you were missing out on but it wasnât like you didnât want to go out but the issue was you were way too busy.
being an english, law and history major meant that you were constantly studying literally.
you did love him though he always tried for you.
"_____ !! " your friend jimin called out to you. you grumbled in annoyance as you turned your neck towards him.
"what." you sighed out tiredly.
" what the- what's wrong with you ______ ?!" he exclaimed loudly.
" jimin... why are you so loud. " you whine loudly.
â shut up ___ im literally your only friend.â he said nonchalantly.
â stopppp!â you whined with a breathy giggle.
â anyways what are you doing here you have biology?â you asked innocently wiping your exhausted eyes.
â uhhh... well..â
â spit it outtt.â you say , head tilting slightly.
" sorry _____ i just- i have a number to give you and i don't call it until you get home! trust me you'll thank me later!!â
0800-765-877
it looked like a legit number so you decided to trust him this one time.
"come on ____ class ended 20 minutes ago wake up." he whined loudly.
" what.....? " you yawned as you groggily wiped your eyes.
jimin let out an exasperated sigh as he dragged you out of class and to your apartment.
" i love you but sometimes i feel like stabbing you. " he says plainly.
" sorry chim, ive just been really stressed lately. i'll make it up to you i promise."
"you can make it up to me by calling that number, it'll solve all your problems i promise."
" jimin... did you connect me to a sugar daddy or something? " you asked as you flopped down onto your sofa
" something like that." he said grinning
" okay well you can go home now . " you muttered yawning
" promise me you'll call them? "
" okay, okay now you can go. "
as jimin left you groaned into your pillow did you have to call them it wasn't really gonna change anything. but at the same time jimin would do the same for you.
your home was simple, minimalistic but you loved it your soft grey sofa in the corner. your small tv playing comfort noise in the background.
you fought your tiredness to finish your essay due for next week. you ached in places you didn't even know you had the most you were aching was down there.
you hadn't had any sexual action in weeks even months.
you decided to go up to your room to try and relive yourself.
you sighed as your hands hovered over the pulsating area.
as a finger trailed it's way up your slit you involuntarily whined as you got tired of the foreplay you plunged a finger inside your soppy cunt.
your plush walls also fighting to relish your much needed orgasm as you groaned into your pillow.
you moaned, whined, groaned and breathed heavily as you desperately tried to reach your high.
you angrily quickened your pace. you were trying so hard yet you still weren't feeling anything.
in a huff you decided to stop trying to reach your endless high.
in the corner of your eye you saw the number jimin had left you.
it wouldn't hurt to call right?
it wasn't gonna be anything weird..... right ?
you took a small breathe as your fingered trembled attempting to type in the numbers.
1 ring
2 rings
3 rings
......
" h-hello? " you whispered out meekly
" hey honey, why don't you speak up for us?" the man on the other end spoke in a deep voice
" im sorry i- i don't know what this- is r-really for?" you spoke slightly louder as you stumbled over your words
"it's a sexhotline darling? "
" i- i well oh...â you huffed out , eyes widening softly you were lost in a trance of thought.
you were suddenly put on hold.
your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you gave yourself time to think.
it wouldnât hurt right?
you were basically an adult, you felt like a teenage girl again.
so you decided.
Putting a client on hold was a part of their fun. It allows the person to wait and to draw out the anticipation. however in this case you were just confused.
youâve been pacing back and forth inside your bedroom for minutes it was half eleven in the night , and you certainly didnât think that your attention would be on this instead of your essay.
suddenly you heard another 'hello' erupt from the phone quickly you grabbed your device breathing heavily you gulped and mustered up your voice.
" h- hi i just want you to know that y-you can carry on I've been- struggling and i- need some just some help?" you say whispering the last part.
" you want us to help you cum bun? " another voice said this time it was lighter, kinder in a way.
âdonât make us talk to ourselves, darling.â the other man snarls.
a gasp emits from your dry lips when the tone of his voice turns firm. there was a strict, domineering tinge in his speech that made you sit still. you were too shocked to reply as your mind tried to comprehend the situation that you got yourself into.
âI-IâŚâ you stuttered completely, wanting to smack yourself in the face. the pet names, their voices it was all over whelming you too much.
you let out a needy whine, both of the men groaned quietly into the phone.
" how old are you baby ? " baby. they called you baby.
" i-im 19? "
" fuck, will you be okay with this?" they ask to make sure
jungkook canât help the soft growl escape his lips. It has been so rare for him to receive callers who arenât twenty-five and above, and you might be his first time.
âOhh, baby girl,â he bites his lip, âI think youâre the first client Iâve had whoâs so young.â jungkook says to you
â is that okay , i-im sorry- "
âOh, its more than okay , baby. You still wanna continue? I can make you feel soâŚâ he pauses, groaning quietly to himself, âso good.â
your pussy clenches around nothing as you felt yourself getting wetter by the second
"Â yes daddy. " you say nodding to yourself. you suddenly froze as you realised the contents of your words
taehyung's eyes widen in shock, his mouth agape, certainly not expecting that sudden word to come out of your lips. He throws his head back, closing his eyes for a brief moment as he feels his dick harden.
It was so difficult for him to hold himself back because all he wanted to do was to say the dirtiest, nastiest things that he wants to do to you in your ear. but he had to slow down.
âdaddy? Oh, what makes you call me that, hm? baby?â
you feel your throat go dry, your eyes wide in shock. You didnât know what to respond without being so shocked with yourself.
" i-i just really need you please please please i need it. " you let it all out, you couldn't be bothered to hide it anymore.
âdonât be a brat kitten.â taehyung snarled into the phone.
â b-but daddy! please i- i need it so so bad itâs not fair!â you whined softly as your fingers ghosted your aching, soppy cunt.
they both groaned loudly, as jungkook conversed with taehyung
" kook, fuck i need to do her in real life she's making this so hard for me."
" same here let's just go for it here she's going to make me cum in my pants." he sighed as he palmed himself to your weak whimpers.
" darling, me and tae were wondering if you wanted to do this in real life- we'd fuck you so good honey, you'd become our little cum dump id love to see your body tremble to the force of my cock. " taehyung said interrupting jungkook.
" yes.. please you said as you moaned quietly to their words
" okay bun, we'll text you where to meet us." jungkook breathed out.
the atmosphere was dripping with heavy lust your eyes shut right as you relished their deep gutural voices.
â i canât cum daddy please help me cum pleas-â you begged in frustration
âoh honey, itâs okay sh- sh itâs ok ill help you just be patient okay? you can do that for me right?â jungkook said in a calm tone
" what's your name by the way."
" it's ____." you say meekly
" ____ edge yourself, fuck yourself just do not cum. "
and with that in the call ended
you sighed loudly grinning slightly, you were gonna get your brains done out by two sexy sounding men.
you smiled to yourself giddily as you finally got some sleep.
________________
the next morning you got up and did your daily routine entirely different you waxed everywhere, shaved, exfoliated, moisturised, basically every strawberry flavoured you had in your bathroom.
it was a Saturday, you had time to spare you texted jimin to meet him before you went to meet 'kook' and the other guy.
not to mention you were frustrated beyond belief you had done what they asked you to do and you half hate half love them for it.
on one hand you could cum from any suggestive touch you were given.
on the other hand you couldn't help but want to thank them you felt so ready for them.
you walked to the cafe.
the soft brown walls encompanied the mahogany floors and the cascade of plants across the room as you happily walked into the bustling cafe.
" what's got you so excited." he said grinning like the Cheshire cat
" uh nothing i just had some good sleep last night. " a lie.
" oh really? "
" yeah i even finished my essay!" not true but not false at the same time.
" wow! " jimin looked at you shocked
" jimin do you really have that little faith in me. " you say annoyed
" to be honest no. " he said chuckling
" jiminnn, well i have to be going now i have an appointment soon. " you explain pouting
" an appointment where? "
" somewhere special ? " you say in attempt to hide
" if you say so. " he uttered playfully and he watches you walk away
you stared at the building in front of you as you checked the address again and again it was a massive condo.
you rang the bell of the apartment square and dialled in the number seconds later you were buzzed in.
you took the elevator and anxiously played with your fingers you finally reached the floor you were headed to and walked into room 657 .
" h-hello i-im here it's ______ " you say confused you really made a large mistake.
suddenly turning around, you were pulled into a sloppy kiss. You immediately relaxed into it, wrapping your arms around his neck the deeper it went. Before it could go on too long, he pulled away.
Pressed between both of their bodies, you could help the way your body reacted. Your lips met Taehyung's again and you whimpered.
Jungkook took the opportunity to press his lips against your neck, skimming them over the collar now around your neck.
He hands gripped your waist, pulling your shirt up ever so slightly to touch the skin that became exposed.
Goosebumps across your skin and you gasped into Taehyung's mouth. The elder chuckled, reaching down to where Jungkook's deft fingers explored to tug up the hem of your shirt.
you gasped loudly as you tensed under their touch.
Already, you could feel your mind turning fuzzy, falling into your submissive roll to let them mold you how they wanted.
Jungkook chuckled as you lifted your arms, allowing Taehyung to pull your shirt off. Left in your bra, you couldn't help but cover your chest as vulnerability set in.
"None of that, bun," Jungkook growled softly, ripping your arms away from your chest. "You wanna be a good girl for us right? Let us take care of you?"
"Y-Yes..." You whined, whining when Taehyung leaned down pressing kisses against your chest above the seam of your bra. Gasping, you pushed your chest out to get more of the feeling.
"What a good girl," Taehyung cooed, falling to his knees in front of you.
You leaned back, using Jungkook as support to help Taehyung pull your jeans off completely. He tossed them away in a heap nearby and without wasting a second, his mouth was on your core.
The fabric of your panties put on the side, feeling his mouth on you fully but as he slid his tongue over your slit and caught your clit, you let out a soft moan.
"What a good kitten for us," Jungkook groaned, hands still cupping your breasts. He pinched your nipples, making your back arch as you cried out.
âIs that pretty pussy wet, Princess? Does your cunt ache to be filled by my cock?â jungkook coaxes
The filth of his words doesnât surprise you, Under his teasing words, you feel yourself grow wet, your lust-filled desire mingling with the humiliation that flutters through you.
"Aw, your pussy that sensitive, baby?" Taehyung cooed pressing his middle finger to glide directly over the patch where your clit was, making your hips curve inwards as the intensity was blare enough to startle you.
He chuckled deeply at that, kind of sounding like a purr and just when you didn't think he could fuck with your sanity anymore than he was already doing, he turned his head to the side and lapped his wet muscle along your jugular vein before enclosing his lips area the area for harsh suck.
you moaned loudly as you arched your back against jungkook. taehyung put one leg over his shoulder to go deeper.
"Daddy!" You cried as his tongue slid through your folds. He moaned at the unimpeded taste of your cunt. Circling your entrance, he eagerly tasted everything you had to offer.
" don't take it all tae, shit she looks hot." jungkook groaned into your neck, biting licking and sucking against your sweet spot.
you whined as you trembled against the two men. you felt hot.
"Fuck!" You shrieked, spasming when he gave you a slap against your sodden folds . " Iâ!"
" be careful girl." jungkook growled into your ear
you moaned apologies left right and centre as he continued to abuse your aching clit.
suddenly you were harshly pulled away from taehyung's hot wet muscle and pushed into the soft plush bed.
you whined in protest at your denied orgasm.
" now, you're going to choose. me or tae." jungkook questioned sadistically
" i...i can't choose that i okay um jungkook?" you said in a small voice.
" good decision honey, now lie back let me take care of you." he cooed kindly
taehyung scoffed as he sat back
you were more than happy like this, but when you shifted your hips to grind your centre against his, you both groaned open-mouthed into the kiss.
You could feel that he was already hard in his boxers. Knowing that his willing cock was so close to your needy core erased your mind of any thoughts that weren't of him.
When you dragged your clit against him again you keened, the pleasure incredible despite the barriers between you.
he felt so big as you continued your actions
suddenly you felt his large and literally massive cock push into your plush soppy cunt.
you moaned loudly as jungkook groaned.
taehyung smirked as he shook his head.
" get moving i wanna see her squirt."
jungkook rocked back and forth at a steady pace it was amazing don't get me wrong but you wanted more you needed more.
"more! more please harder jungkook please! " you begged.
" princess, don't beg for things you can't keep up with." he chuckled
there was an animalistic gaze in his eye as he started plunging into your pussy, taehyung mouth open jerking himself off at the sight, your open lie open as he ground his fat cock into you.
you felt hot and euphoric and couldn't help but let moans continuously fall out of your mouth.
suddenly you felt a harsh slap on your face. you felt tears well up in your eyes.
Without warning, his cock was rammed inside you. Raw and hard with the way your pussy was soaking wet from your denied orgasm , he began to relentlessly fuck into you.
tears began spilling out of your eyes continuously and your moans became pornographic.
as if he couldn't go any faster he began to drill inside you, your body shook in ecstasy as his fat cock was pistoned into you.
you felt your high approaching, you panicked and begged for them to let you come.
" please! please let me cum ! ill be good , ill be a good girl ! " you cried out towards them
jungkook craned himself to be face to face with you, as he stared at you with his dark and lustful. his wet lips capture yours into a sloppy kiss .
he forced your mouth open and let his tongue glide upon yours. he sucked on the wet muscle softly as you cried out.
everything felt so good, too good.
you came 3 times alone with jungkook and felt overstimulated beyond belief.
" now it's my turn . " taehyung dead panned
" w-what i can't take anymore ill just su- "
" i said. it's my turn. " he uttered in a harsh tone
you wailed in frustration as your body writhed in defeat .
" you're gonna take it . that's what you asked for . " he spat at you.
observing the way your eyes darken, turning neediness, and the way your chest heaves in short breaths, Taehyungâs jaw flexes.
He pressed the tip against your hole, seeing you tense up almost immediately. taehyung rubbed the end of his cock along your wet cunt before sinking himself into you.
" d-daddy ple- ! " you body spasmed against the head board as taehyung suddenly slammed his body into you continuously.
â youâre such an eager little whore, arenât you?â he purrs, condescension laced in his tone.
you tightly held onto the relentless man as you felt your high approaching once more.
taehyungâs thrusts became sloppy as he grunted against your neck.
you felt your body swirl and turn around you and you finally came.
hours later
you groggily woke up as you felt your body give out into the bed.
â hel- hello? â you said wearily
â hi princess.â taehyung smirked
â round 5?â jungkook asked
you sighed as you submitted to them in their bed
here we go again.

A Little Push - Sarah Reese x Fields!Reader - Chicago Med x Grey's Anatomy
Request: 3. They like each other and somehow get shut in a locker/cupboard together (maybe a plan from April or something) and both end up very flustered but are both as observant as brick walls to the others feelings Ty <3333
You'd grown up with your older sister, Lucy. She was a doctor, like you, but whilst you were in emergency medicine in Chicago, she was an OB/GYN and maternal-fetal medicine, working in a clinic in Africa. Being a doctor meant you were observant, but you weren't good with feelings, especially your own. Lucy was aware of this, especially since she'd seen you grow up and how you struggled to come out to her.
But now, Lucy wasn't in Chicago, and you were as observant as a brick wall when it came to how you felt about a certain psychiatry resident.
"Have you always been so emotionally constipated when it comes to your feelings?" Maggie asked you once, leaving you to grimace as you reflected.
"Yeah, just ask my sister."
"Whose your sister?" April enquired, raising an eyebrow as you were reading a patient's chart.
"Lucy Fields, she's an OB/GYN and has experience in maternal-fetal medicine too, but she's been between the clinic in Africa and Baylor since 2011... so that's what, four years? I have to go talk to a patient."
"Do you think we could somehow get in contact with Y/n's sister?" April suggested, leaving Maggie to frown.
"I have no idea, are you considering having her fly in so she can see her sister or so that you can try get Y/n and Reese together?" Maggie asked, leaving April to pause.
"Both?"
"This is going to be interesting to say the least."
///
"Hello Doctor Fields." Reese smiled at you, the two of you getting coffee on your breaks.
"Hey Doctor Reese, how's your patient doing?"
"They are doing well, thank you for asking. I was wondering uh... sorry, I have to go!" Reese began as her pager beeped, leaving you to watch as she hurried away.
"Wow... I knew Y/n was oblivious but that was... wow." A voice admitted, leaving April to nod.
"Yeah, that's why I pulled some strings for you to visit... that and when I tried to ask Y/n about you, they got upset about you being between Africa and Texas for the past 4 years..." April explained, leaving Lucy to chew her lip before nodding reluctantly.
"I shouldn't have left it so long, we both put our careers first but... I'll talk to them, then lure then into whatever plan you have to get them with that psych resident."
"Uh, there is a maintenance cupboard up on the next floor, Y/n will pass by it when they head up to the OR to observe trauma cases. Doctor Reese passes it when on the way between the OR and the elevator to the psych ward. We're trapping them in there until they figure out their feelings for each other after shift." April explained, leaving Lucy to smile.
"You've thought this through."
"They need the push." April reasoned, leaving Lucy to nod in agreement before the plan was about to be put into action.
///
"Lucy? What are you doing here?" You froze, on your way from the OR where you'd observed Doctor Rhodes working on a trauma patient.
"I thought I'd come see you after leaving it for so long. Also, you needed the push, sorry for this." Lucy replied, leaving you to frown before you were shoved into the maintenance cupboard.
"Lucy! What the hell!" You exclaimed, trying to shove the door but it wouldn't budge.
"Your sister shoved you in here?" A voice asked, leaving you to turn around to try place the voice.
"Sarah? Why are you in here?" You waved around in the darkness, pausing as Sarah grabbed your wrist, placing your hand on her shoulder.
"April. She said I needed to stop being oblivious and realise what's in front of me." Sarah explained, feeling your breath on her skin as you shuffled closer.
"What's in front of you is me. Literally."
"I think April had something else in mind than what's physically in front of me, but it makes sense, now that I think about it." Sarah admitted, chewing her lip as her hand went to your waist so you'd stop shuffling.
"What are you talking about?"
"My feelings for you... and since your sister shoved you in here, I'd say she thought the same thing. You have feelings for me as well-" Sarah was cut off as your lips pressed against hers for a moment.
You were about to pull away when Sarah pulled you back in by the waist, your back against the maintenance closet door as the two of you continued to kiss.
That was until the door opened, leaving you to land on your back as Sarah landed on top of you.
"Finally, you two are no longer oblivious to each others' feelings." April smiled, leaving you to let out a groan before Sarah pulled you up.
"I'm proud of you, all you needed was that push." Lucy chuckled, leaving you to glare.
"Push into a maintenance closet..." You grumbled under your breath as Sarah giggled, kissing your cheek.

Chapter 10 | Chapter 9 | Chapter 8 | Chapter 7 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 1 | Masterlist
It didnât feel right with Bucky away. Although heâd only been gone for just over a day you felt the void he left. Over the past few months youâd become inseparable, seeing each other every day - whether it be hitting the gym together, cooking or just hanging out.
After coming home from yet another terrible day at work, you wanted nothing more than to open a bottle of wine and binge watch TV with Bucky who was undoubtedly now your best friend.Â
You were two glasses in when you heard a banging outside your apartment door.Â
Stepping out into the hallway you were greeted with two cops hammering away on Buckyâs door, nearly breaking it clean off. âExcuse me, can I help you?âÂ
Both officers quickly spun on the spot and reached for their guns, stopping when they saw you were on your own. âDo you know the man who lives here?âÂ
âYes, do you?â
âMaâam do you know where he is?âÂ
âNo I donâtâ You lied, not trusting the two men infront of you.Â
One of their radios suddenly turned on â-heâs is now in custody in BaltimoreâÂ
Both cops nodded to one another before turning back to you. âNevermind maâamâÂ
You watched as they left as quickly as they arrived before running back into your apartment, grabbing your phone and frantically calling Bucky. You tried a few more times before stuffing your wallet into your purse and heading for the door.Â
Fortunately you managed to catch a last minute flight to Baltimore after confirming with the police precinct they were holding him in . You hadnât thought twice about going to him, your heart ached at the thought of him being confined to a cell, trapping him like an animal.Â
After paying the cab driver your fare, you sprinted into the precinct heading straight for the desk.Â
âHi, youâre holding my friend Bucky -Â I mean James Barnes.â You panted, tired from the sprint to the officer behind the desk.
âWho the hell are you?âÂ
Turning around, you came face to face with someone you instantly recognised. âFalconâ You grinned, a little bit star struck at meeting an actual Avenger.Â
Sure Bucky was one too but to you he wasnât some superhero on the evening news who fought aliens and terrorists, he was just Bucky - your friend who stole your food and listened to your never ending rants.Â
Realising you hadnât answered his question, you continued. âIâm Y/N, a friend of Buckyâs.â You extended your hand out to him which he shook.Â
âSamâ He replied, releasing your hand from his.Â
âThe one who believes wizards are realâ You joked, trying to remove the tension.Â
âIâll tell you the same thing I told the cyborg, a wizard is a sorcerer without a hat!â
âUhuhâ You laughed, rolling your eyes. âHave they said when theyâll let him out yet?âÂ
Sam gestured you to the seating area and sat down. âOnce his therapist arrives theyâll let him out.â You sat in comfortable silence for a few moments as the busy precinct bustled around you, cops and civilians passing through constantly.Â
Sam was the first to break the silence.Â
âDo you want to watch a funny video?â
The first time you watched the video of Bucky jumping out of the plane you were worried sick heâd hurt himself with his terrible landing. But by the fifth time watching it youâd found it hysterical as you laughed along with Sam as you watched the video over and over again from different angles to kill the time.Â
Reluctantly, you left the waiting area and headed to the restroom to relieve yourself. When you came back you were stumped to find Sam wasnât where youâd left him.Â
âExcuse me, do you know where the man that was sat there went?â You asked the officer behind the desk.Â
âTherapy sessionâ She replied, pointing towards the double doors before returning back to furiously typing on her computer.Â
âThanksâ You muttered before returning back to your seat, patiently waiting.Â
You didnât have to wait for long before Sam came back with an annoyed look etched across his face. âHeâll be out in a minuteâ he said as he passed by you, heading for the exit.Â
With a sigh of relief you stood from your seat and adjusted your clothing as you watched the door with eager eyes.Â
The moment you saw him through the small windows you felt all the stress and anxiety of the day seep out of you as you saw he was relatively okay.Â
Bucky must have been distracted as he didnât notice you standing in front of him until his eyes landed on you, his mouth hanging open in shock.Â
âHey BuckâÂ
âDoll what are you doing here?â He asked as he strode over to you, pulling you into him in a tight hug, your face pressed against his warm chest. Your arms wound around his back, pulling him in closer, his scent overwhelming your senses. He left a kiss upon your head before pulling back slightly to look down at you, searching for answers.Â
âCops came to your apartment looking for you, and then I heard theyâd got you and I just panicked. Are you okay?â Reaching up, you cupped his face in your hand, your thumb stroking his soft cheek.Â
His eyes fluttered closed for a moment before he opened them again, suddenly aware of where you were.Â
âCâmon lets get out of here.â Taking your hand in his, he led you out of the station and into the fresh evening air.Â
A shiver ran down your spine as the cold air hit your bare arms. In your rush to go after Bucky youâd foolishly foregone a jacket.Â
Instantly noticing your discomfort, Bucky dropped your hand and shrugged his jacket off and wrapped it around your shoulders, the leather swamping your form.Â
âThanksâ You said shyly, Bucky merely smiled back at you in response.Â
âWell I feel betterâ Samâs voice broke you out of the moment as he walked up to you both. Bucky opened his mouth to respond before being interrupted by the sound of a siren and flashing lights.
âGentlemen!â You recognised the voice from the news - the Captain America knock off. âGood to see you again.âÂ
You felt Bucky's hand slide down your arm to grasp your hand once again as he walked towards the imposter, angling you behind him.Â
âLook, if we divide ourselves, we donât stand a chance, you guys know that.âÂ
âSo what do you got?â Sam asked, rolling his eyes.Â
âWell the leaders nameâs Karli Morgenthau. Weâve been targeting civilians whoâve been helping Karli move from place to place.â
âThey geotagged a location then scrambled the signal. But our satellites have found their symbol popping up in various displaced communities all across Central and Eastern Europe.â
âWe think sheâs taking the medicine she just stole to one of these camps.âÂ
âWell, there are hundreds of those all over the planet since The Blip so I guess youâll have to look real hard.â If it wasnât for present company youâd have rolled your eyes at Buckyâs sarcasm.
âGood thing I have 20/20 vision, huh?â
âWhere is she now, Walker? Do you know?âÂ
âNo we donât know Bucky. Itâs only a matter of time before we find outâ Â
âThings are really intense for you, arenât they Walkerâ Your lips twitched as you fought off a smirk.
âTake it easy. Look Walkerâs right. It is imperative that we find them and stop them. But you guys have rules of engagement and all kinds of authorisations you have to get. Weâre free agents. Weâre more flexible. So it wouldnât make sense for us to work with you.âÂ
You all turned to walk away, Bucky squeezing your hand as you did before fake Captain America stopped you in your tracks. âA word of advice then⌠stay the hell out of my way.â The two men turned and began to walk before Walker stopped again. âNice to finally meet you Y/NâÂ
You felt Bucky tense as he turned back to the two men, his eyes glaring at them. Gently, you squeezed his hand and tugged his arm, pulling him back towards Sam, not bothering to respond to dumb and dumber. Looking down at you, he sighed before complying.Â
With one last glance behind, you raised your hand as though to wave before smirking and flipping them both off instead - earning a chuckle from Sam.
A few blocks later, Sam hung back to give you and Bucky a moment alone.Â
âI canât believe you came for me dollâ Bucky couldnât keep his hands off you, he kept switching from rubbing your arms to keep you warm and tucking pieces of hair behind your ears. After the day heâd had you was a welcome sight, reminding him that not everything in his life was terrible.Â
âOf course I didâ You replied, confused as to why he would even doubt it. âIâd do anything for you.â Your confession came as a shock to both of you. You werenât quite sure as to why you voiced your feelings, maybe it was the day of stress finally getting to you, or the realisation what Bucky and Sam was up to was dangerous and you feared losing him. But regardless of your reasoning, you didnât regret saying it.Â
Bucky's breath hitched as his blue eyes searched yours, looking for the moment where youâd crack a smile and make a joke out of it. But that didnât happen.Â
Gently, Bucky leant forward and pressed his lips against your forehead, lingering for a moment before pulling back. âI donât want you getting caught up in this doll.â His right hand cradled the back of your head as his eyes sought yours, trying to memorise every part of your face, committing it to memory.Â
âIâll stay out of it, I promise. I just couldnât bear the thought of you caged up again-â Your voice had become erratic as you processed the days events. Bucky pulled you into another hug, silencing you as he did, his metal hand rubbing up and down your back.Â
âIâll be fine yâknow that right? But I have to stop these people Y/N, the serum canât end up in the wrong hands. I need you to trust me, to trust I know what Iâm doing.âÂ
You merely nodded in response, too caught up in the feeling of being in his arms.Â
Bucky pulled away from the hug and stroked your cheek, wiping away the tears you hadnât realised had fallen. âCmon, whereâs that smile?âÂ
You couldnât resist his boyish charm and smiled back at him, although weakly.Â
âAttagirlâ

Chapter Three
âYou want me to help you with what?â You ask, a bit stunned when he showed up at the door, a terribly annoying but also cute pleading expression on his face.
He groans, his shoulders hunching forward in exasperation. âYa really gunna make me repeat it?â
You peer closer at the top of his head and see that heâs being serious. The roots of his hair growing in are a dark brown and it had never even occurred to you that he dyes his hair the blonde color youâre so used to. âNo, but why do you need my help?â
This is so embarrassing. Normally his roommate or a teammate can help him but none of them are available today and heâs already let the roots grow longer than he likes. But when one of them suggested you help him out instead, something inside him rebelled. For some reason, the thought of having you dye his hair for him made him uncomfortable, like heâs showing you an intimate part of him. This hair has been a part of him so long he canât remember the last time heâd let it grow out.
âI canât see if I got everything,â he admits. It took a lot of pacing around his room and staring at his roots for him to get up the courage to come over here to ask you. He canât really explain why he was so against it, especially since you donât seem to mind after you got over the initial shock of realizing this isnât his natural hair.
A wave of relief washes over him when you sigh, conceding, âAlright. Just let me change into something I can get bleach on. Iâll meet you at your dorm.â
While he waits for you, he busies himself with mixing the dye together so itâs ready for you, and when you arrive in a t-shirt and shorts with paint splatters all over them, he mentally kicks himself for thinking about how even wearing something so simple you still look better than anyone heâs ever seen. Crossing your arms, you motion for him to take a seat at his desk. Before he does so, he reaches behind his neck to grab at the collar of his shirt and pull it over his head.
You stand there dumbfounded for a moment, it taking you a second to process that heâs now standing before you shirtless and youâre free to ogle his muscular chest and arms to your hearts content. He doesnât pay any attention to you, knowing if he meets your gaze, he wonât be able to stop the heat threatening to crawl up his neck. Instead, he wraps a towel around his waist to protect his shorts and sits in the chair to wait for you. Â
Except now, you have free reign to stare at his back, which is just as defined as the front of him and you need a few more seconds to reel your thoughts back.
âWhaddya waitinâ for darling?â He drawls, throwing you a glance over his shoulder, not expecting you to be standing there frozen, eyes pinned to his now bare chest.
He opens his mouth to tease you further, but your eyes snap to his and you practically shout, âDo you have another towel?â He just cocks a brow and then points to his closet where another towel is hanging on a hook. Snatching it, you return to him and drape it over his shoulders, hiding most of his annoyingly toned body. âDonât want to get any bleach on your skin,â you explain, no way in hell ever admitting to him that youâre finding it hard to focus with him on display like that.
Absentmindedly, he hands you one of the clips he bought a long time ago, one thatâs almost completely bleached itself and you start running your fingers through his hair to section it. He closes his eyes, focusing intently on the soothing sensation of your fingers on his scalp, doing his best not to groan out loud at how good it feels. With anyone else, this isnât anything special, normally he sits as patiently as he can whilst trying not to annoy whoever is doing his hair (lest they decide to âmess upâ as punishment). But with you, itâs a different feeling entirely.
It's jarringly intimate as you clip his hair back and reach over him to grab the plastic gloves that came with the dye. Lathering up the applicator brush, you start slathering it onto his hair, trying your hardest to make sure itâs evenly distributed and surrounding each strand. As you do so, you ask, âHow long have you been doing this?â
He resists the urge to shrug, not wanting to jostle you, replying, âOsamu and I started in middle school.â
âOsamu dyes his hair too?â
âYeah, he goes for gray. But Iâd heard blondes have more fun soâhere we are.â
He grits his teeth as your fingers skim over his scalp, glad for the towel you wrapped around him to hide the goosebumps skittering along his bare skin.
âLet me guess,â you muse. âYou guys did it because people couldnât tell you apart?â
âThat,â he laughs, âAnd we thought it would look cool. The first time we did it, it looked like shit.â
Your answering laugh warms his heart as you unclip a section of hair and keep working. âI canât imagine your mom being too happy about it.â
âLivid. We got bleach everywhere.â
You laugh, continuing to move through his hair methodically. It doesnât take very long as youâre just dying his roots and they werenât that bad to begin with, contrary to what Atsumu thinks. When you finish, he gives you a sheepish look and has to swallow his pride to ask you to help him wash it out. Every time heâs tried to do it himself, he always ends up leaving a huge chunk of bleach somewhere.
You oblige, following him to the bathroom, not bothering to care about the looks you get along the way. If they want to stare at a shirtless Atsumu and then glare at you for having that all to yourself, thatâs their prerogative. It does wonders for your confidence, regardless that all of this is a ruse.
Luckily, the bathroom is empty and Atsumu dutifully bends over the sink to let you start washing the dye out of his hair. Heâs immensely grateful his eyes are shut, and his face is shoved into the sink to hide his flushed cheeks as he thoroughly enjoys your fingers running through his hair. The sensation of your fingernails lightly scraping over his scalp makes him ball his fists as he has to bite his lip to keep from making any sounds.
Youâre unbothered, until you notice the towel has slipped from his shoulders and with the way heâs bracing himself against the counter every muscle in his back and arms is on display for you to see. Itâs an effort to continue your task as if nothing is wrong and force yourself to look off into the distance instead of eyeing him up.
Itâs no easy feat. Especially when you finish and he rises, scrubbing at his face with the discarded towel before moving on to his hair. You press your lips into a firm line and let yourself indulge just a little bit looking at the way his muscles flex with the movement, droplets from his damp hair trailing down the planes of his chest towards the waistband of his shorts andâyour attention is broken at the sound of him chuckling and you snap your gaze to his.
You find him staring at you with mischief sparkling in his eyes, so you speak before he can tease you. âIs that it?â
âWe have to actually dye it now.â
âOh.â You turn on your heels desperate to escape his gaze. âLetâs go then.â A smirk plays across his lips, but he refrains from teasing you, solely because he very much enjoyed the way you were looking at him and doesnât want you to stop.
And yeahâsue him if he thinks about your hands in his hair for the rest of the day. In the end, he might be a little grateful no one else was available to help him.
When mid-semester break arrives, it comes as a surprise that you actually miss each other. What surprises you even further, is that heâs the one to bring it up. Within the first night, he video calls you, a sheepish expression on his face, explaining he needed someone to complain to.
âWhat do you mean?â You teased. âSounds like youâre getting stuffed with good food from Osamu and you have plenty to brag about.â You winked, smiling devilishly at him and pointing to yourself. Youâre only joking. Slightly. You arenât sure what will come about if he tells his family about you, or if thatâs even a good idea. Itâd be much easier to break this off cleanly without the involvement of each otherâs families.
He sighs, flopping down on his bed and scrubbing his face with one hand. âTheyâre just dyinâ to meet you now.â
Your brows lift, half-expecting him to have tried to keep this a secret. âYou told them?â
âI wasnât gunna,â he explains. âBut apparently some college sports news channel caught umâ,â he coughs awkwardly, remembering very vividly this day, yet the two of you havenât acknowledged it since. âOurâuhâcelebration.â
Eyes widening, you stare at him a moment before the both of you burst out laughing. Between your giggles you manage to say, âOops.â
Laughing alongside you, he grins, despite the pang in his heart at the voice in his head desperately trying to remind him all of this isnât real. You arenât his girlfriend and the moment all of this ends, you probably wonât bat an eye at him ever again. He hates how much that hurts.
Forging onward towards his demise he discloses, âI am now a very proud owner of a very jealous brother now, so thank you.â
That only makes you keep grinning, setting a hand on your cheek and dramatically saying, âWhat? Of little olâ me?â
He fights the urge to tell you that yesâjealous of little olâ you. The girl who is slowly becoming the girl of his dreams. The beautiful, funny girl who deals with him and everything that comes with him. He swallows all that, keeping the mood and saying, âHe refuses to let me try any of his onigiri. A crime, really.â
âOf the highest caliber,â you agree, stifling your laughter. âThough Iâm sure you steal some when he isnât looking.â
âYeah, but he caught me and hit me on the head with his spoon.â
âHow dare he. Lucky for me, my family is clueless.â
âWhat do they think yer doinâ right now then?â
Shrugging you say, âI told them I had a project to work on with a classmate. Which isnât entirely a lie, I do have a project to work on. But someone interrupted.â
He smirks. âWonder who that could be.â
âBeats me.â His responding grin does something to you thatâs been happening a lot more frequently lately. Making you feel like all the air has been punched out of you and like your heart is going to beat out of your chest. Though, youâve gotten quite good at hiding it.
In the distance, you hear someone calling his name. He panics, itâs bad enough his family knows about you now, but he isnât sure if heâs ready for them to meet you. Especially Osamu, who he has the sinking feeling is already suspicious of this. Itâll be a miracle if he can slip this by him.
âGotta go!â He says quickly, and before he ends the call, he hears you chuckle and say, âBeware the spoon.â
Every day his situation only gets worse.
The next night he canât get Osamu off his back. Enough that when he tries to retreat to his bedroom to give you a call, pathetically missing you again, Osamu bursts in when heâs about two minutes into the video call with you. He tries to shove him out, embarrassed and afraid Osamu will see straight through him. But Osamu is stubborn, and he hears you laughing on the other end of the call before saying, âAww, Atsumu wonât you at least let me try to charm the pants off him?â
He grits his teeth, the thought that he wants you to charm the pants off of him, not his brother flitting through his head before he can stop it. But he relents, letting Osamu sit backwards on his desk chair to join the conversation.
He isnât sure how, but somehow you get Osamu to believe this is real in a matter of minutes. You have him laughing and talking about culinary school and he almost feels jealous that your attention is now on Osamu instead of him. Itâs a ridiculous notion, he knows it, but it doesnât stop him from keeping the camera on him as much as possible.
When the call ends, Osamu looks at him seriously, and for a moment Atsumu thinks heâs just been pretending to believe you this entire time. However, he breaks into a smile and smacks him on the back saying, âGot yerself a keeper, there.â
Atsumu tries to grin with as much sincerity as he can. Yeahâhe knows he does. But that isnât going to stop this from ending.
That night, both of you go to bed feeling like youâre getting in too deep.
And as per usual, when school starts back up again, neither of you bring it up. Youâre happy to keep ignoring it, hating yourself for liking this arrangement and him more and more every day. It sad really, how much time in your day is spent thinking about him. Wondering if thereâs any possibility that the two of you could just transition to a real relationship. Because to you, thatâs already what this is. Nothing would change, but at least youâd stop feeling guilty every time you enjoy his hand in yours or the soft press of his lips to the top of your head.
A few days after returning to school, you find yourself alone with him in his dorm room studying. Heâs sitting at his desk, hunched over a textbook while you lay on his bed, head propped up by an elbow. You can feel your eyes drooping, the words blurring together, it becoming harder and harder to stay awake. His bed is too comfortable and smells overwhelmingly like him, a scent youâve come to enjoy every time youâre pressed up against him. A mixture of his body wash and the ever-present faint smell of the volleyball court. Eventually youâre powerless against the solace of sleep.
When Atsumu notices you, his heart jumps into his throat. You look so serene and peaceful, your chest rising and falling ever so slightly, part of him wants to crawl in beside you and press his face into your neck and fall asleep right along with you.
But he too has begun to feel like this game has gone too far. The moment he had to tell his family, lie to Osamu, he knew heâd crossed a line. It isnât fair to you. No longer does he need to pretend for his teammates that he can have a serious relationship, there isnât a reason to torture himself and keep you tied to him anymore.
Yet, thinking about not being without you, no longer eating lunch together, studying together, or having you in the stands at his games wrenches his heart in such a way he actually feels like itâs crumpling inside his chest. He hasnât been able to admit it, but at some point along the way, he thinks he fell in love with you. And it just hurts too much to keep pretending. Especially when youâre only doing this for peace and quiet during your showers.
For you, he shouldnât drag this on any longer.
So, a couple days later, you texted him telling him you were in the library and can join him anytime if he wants. A harmless text, one youâve sent him many times since this whole thing started, but this one makes his heart sink. Knowing this is the opportunity heâs been waiting for to talk to you. He tries to not think about it, trying to let volleyball take over his thoughts, but itâs futile. All he can think about is saying those words to you, and how itâs quite possibly going to utterly destroy him.
But you take it well, as he expects, squashing the hope that you might feel something for him too.
That night in the library feels particularly lonely. Thereâs no quick-witted remark from the boy who carved himself a place in your life, no one there to make you laugh when youâre struggling with a problem. Instead, youâre met with nothing but the darkness and silence of the library. Itâs almost too much to bear, and once the silence starts closing in on youâyou force yourself to leave, refusing to let yourself wallow.
The next weeks are hard. He never imagined that heâd think that after all of this was over. He keeps showering in the mornings to avoid you and uphold the deal you two struck months ago. He ignores the empty hole in his chest when he eats lunch without you, or studies late alone. The most jarring thing is your absence at his games. He constantly finds himself searching the crowd for your face, before remembering you wonât be there. He misses that intense gaze he could always feel on his back, the one that kept him awake at night when he let his thoughts run wild.
He feels as though something has been ripped from his life, leaving nothing but a gaping hole behind that seems intent on devouring him whole.
The same can be said for you.
Who knew youâd ever miss his teasing remarks while you shower? Or miss how you could complain to him endlessly about classes and then have him comfort you in the warm solace of his arms? Even the little things like walking to class together, now that you do it alone, it feels like thereâs something missing.
The two you go on like that, thinking of the other every night before sleeping, tossing and turning with the thought of what could have been.
And eventually, you reach the point where youâre over it. Over pining after him day after day, peering out your door to make sure he isnât around, or taking detours just to avoid him in the hallways. Youâre over it. Enough that youâre willing to swallow your pride and confess to him, even if he doesnât feel the same wayâmaybe you can fucking move on then.
Before you can talk yourself out of it, you stomp to his dorm room, his roommate opening the door; his eyes widening upon seeing you. Immediately, he grabs his keys saying into the room, âI forgot I need to go to the store Atsumu, see you later.â
He leaves no time for Atsumu to protest, out the door in a matter of moments, leaving you standing in the doorway. Atsumu is just sitting in his desk chair, looking dumfounded at you, having fully expected to never see you again.
The gears in his head grind to a halt as you say, âThis is stupid.â
He gives you a bewildered look, unsure what exactly you mean by that.
You steel your courage and press on. âI like you. And you like me. I think. And all this pretending that we donât is stupid.â
After a few moments, his lips curve into a smile, the mischievous one you used to hate but now feel relief seeing. He canât help the joy building in his chest at your confession. How many sleepless nights thinking about this very moment did he endure?
âYou said it,â he teases.
Despite giving him a look, you do nothing to stop the grin rising to your lips. âWell, it didnât seem like you were going to.â
His smile only widens, and he motions you into the room. âGet yer butt over here already.â
You move on instinct, striding into the room and climbing into his lap, settling your legs on either side of his you wrap your arms around his neck. The overwhelming sense that yesâthis is exactly where you want to be, washes over you. He smirks up at you, his large hands resting at your waist, waiting for your next move.
âI canât believe I actually missed that stupid smirk,â you say, lowering your lips to his, fingers slipping into the short hair at the base of his neck.
His smile hasnât faltered, muttering against your lips teasing, âDoes this mean I can shower at night again?â
A laugh bubbles out of you, but he smothers it in another kiss and refuses to let go.

prologue chapter 1 chapter 2 chapter 3 chapter 4 chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7
Warren Worthington III x reader
Word count: 1300 words
Warnings: language
"Worthington! Wait up". Warren stopped walking for his friend to catch up. "Yes, Monroe?". Ororo rushed from the main entrance to the end of the hall, where Warren was waiting for her. "So? Spit the beans!". She was referring to the meeting with The Professor, which had just ended a few minutes ago.
"Hell no! I'm starving, thanks to you! As far as I can recall, you did say you were going stop by the infirmary to bring me my breakfast, but you never came". Warren said resentfully. "Oh! Forgive me for trying to give you some privacy! I DID go over! but when I realized you were having a blast with "ms. mystery", I left!." Warren's mouth turned into a big "O" surprised by the girl's comment. "Shit, sorry I'm an ass. I should have known better than t-". Although Warren was showing great remorse for his actions, Ororo, on the other hand, seemed unbothered as he had cut his ramblings off. "Whatever, man. Listen up! Why don't I fix you something to eat in the kitchen while you tell me everything that happened, and not just with Charles". Her big brown eyes were beaming at him with mischief. After all, it wasn't likely of him to speak more than five consecutive words with strangers.
"Fine by me". The blond said, already walking to the kitchen. "Oh, by the way, her name is Y/N". He informed with a small smile creeping on his lips.
-----------------------------------------------------------
"For real?" You said in amazement as the man with glasses who went by the name of Hank explained to you some medical facts about your mutation you've been oblivious to your entire life. "Are you telling me my hydrokinesis has been the reason behind why I'm always cold?". Your face in awe had made the man chuckle. "Indeed, Y/N. Your connection with water goes beyond expected. Your body temperature resembles the ocean's, which means, unlike the rest of us who have an average temperature of 35.5 C° to 37 C°. Yours can go as low as -2 C° with its highest in 35 C° ". You turned to your left side, inspecting the monitor showing your vitals, where you read the big bright numbers. "So, does 20 C° mean... ". "Just fine". The doctor said.
"No need to remind you about staying clear from desserts or, you know, fires". "Damn it, just when I was considering moving to Egipt". You had meant for the man to laugh at your joke. Instead, he shot you a disapproving look. "I'm serious, Y/N. You could die. The body can endure temperatures up to 50 C° before death, but you, anywhere up to 39 C° can be fatal".
Those last words were bringing back the multiple times you'd fainted without any apparent reason. Even during a spring day back in your natal Arizona, you could end up in E.R. The doctors had always told your mother it was a heatstroke, yet it never made sense. Yes, it was warm but not blazingly hot like it should have to suffer one. To your mom, you were only doing it for the attention. And after moving to Washington, when you were 5, the faintings stopped, making her believe more in her assumptions.
It also made you remember those winter days when you were little, where all your friends would be covered head to toe with fuzzy clothing whilst you had nothing more than some jeans and a crewneck. People always believed your mother had sucked at parenting for leaving you so exposed to the weather, but for the first time, they were wrong. Yes, she sucked at being a mother, but at least this time, what seemed to be a lack of caring coming from her was just you not being affected by the freezing air like everyone else.
You were about to ask furthermore questions the tall man with the glasses he could perhaps be able to answer when a bald man in his late forties wheeled in. "How is our patient doing, Hank?". He asked. "Better than expected, Charles. Although I would suggest staying in here for observation another 24 hours, just to be sure". Hank replied, straightening his posture as the older man came further inside the room. But why? Just as you were seeking an answer, he spoke. "Because I am the headmaster, young lady. Charles Xavier, at your service". What the actual fuck, how could he have- "Telepathy, that is how, dear". A foreign voice explained inside your mind as the bald man stared at you with knowing eyes. "Please, don't do that ever again! Not without a heads-up at least!". You yelled fearfully. The idea of having somebody else inside your head unexpectedly had to be the scariest thing you could think of, and after having seen your frightened self, the man spoke ordinarily once again.
"Certainly! But, before we continue, how should I call you, dear?". The man, Charles, asked you with a tender voice. " Y/N".
"Very well, Y/N. Now, has Hank told you anything about what we do in here?". "Not much. That this is kinda like a boarding school but for weirdos like us and that some are of you like to run around the city wearing matching bodysuits playing heroes". You said while sitting down crisscrossed on the medical bed. "Well, you are not so wrong, but we are more than that". With that, the conversation about a brighter future for you began.
You had been brought to Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters by luck, without any clue of what could be there to come for you. When you woke up, you'd thought for that place to be nothing but a fancy hospital and nothing else. Now, after your interaction with the headmaster, you were left with a lingering feeling of something you had never experienced before, hope.
Hope for a future away from the streets you've called home for almost a decade. A possibility to become someone you could be proud of being. To form bonds that could last more than a weak or two. Most importantly, the chance of not being so lonely anymore.
In conclusion, Charles Xavier gave you hope for making your wildest dream come true. Stay here, and you will live a normal life.
Both Charles and Hank left the infirmary wing for you to process the information at peace before accepting his offer of prolonging your stay. You'd been so concentrated thinking about all of it. You missed the moment your angel came in.
"By the expression on your face, I'm guessing Charles already asked you to stay in here". He spoke to you as he was reaching for the stool next to your side.
"How do you know that, Angel?". You asked, squinting your eyes in a questioning look.
"He told me after proposing to me the very same thing". Warren said.
"Well, are you?". You eagerly said.
"I don't know, are you?". If you were honest, everything about living at Xavier's sounded perfect to you. You would have accepted right away if it hadn't been for Charles himself who stopped you and made you think about it. After all, it was a 180° lifestyle change.
"Hell fucking yes! Why wouldn't I? It's not like you're allowed to live in a mansion every day" This was the answer which caused the mutant next to you to chuckle slightly. "Is that the only reason you're staying?". You would have said everything you'd been thinking about before warren showed up. Yet something in you told you. If you didn't, you could have plenty of time to do so.
"Not really, but if you decide to stay here, I might tell you all about them, Angel". You told Warren, who had now his eyes fixated on yours, those piercing blue eyes which seemed to be searching for something, what? You didn't know.
"Seems like we got a deal, Y/N".

Youâre a Cat, Hargreeves
Pairing: Five Hargreeves x Reader
Request 1: Hello, so Five has been through a LOT in just two weeks, so can I request something where the reader and him have a bit of intimacy but are not together yet. Then something happens that is just the last drop to him and he shows up to the reader with red and glossy eyes and collapses in her arms? She just holds him (because boy, he needs it) and after a while he manages to talk about things letting his feelings for her slip in the process. Then she can just calm him down and make him feel loved.
Request 2: Could I request a fanfic where Five has a terrible day at the Commission or in the Apocalypse and at bedtime the Reader comforts him, and he suddenly becomes the little spoon for the first time? Idk I think it would be cute to see him shy and secretly liking
!!! Note: Since these two requests have a common theme of Five being stressed as fuck and having a breakdown Iâve decided to combine them. Personally I imagine this scenario in my Commission AU, HOWEVER, I intentionally didnât make it very specific in terms of the circumstances so you can headcanon whatever u like <3 also sorry its not the exact scenario from your requests but i hope you donât mind me taking some creative liberty.
also both Five and Reader are in their 20s here coz otherwise iâm very uncomfortable
massive thanks to @wonders-of-the-multiverseâ for helping me out with wording the physicality of certain things <33333
GIF: @maxiemayfieldâ
Youâve seen Five in many different states.
Youâve seen him anxious and spiraling, youâve seen him furious and borderline insane; depressed and distant, lost and confused. At this point, you genuinely thought youâd seen it all but, apparently, you were wrong.
âI am just so tired.â Five whispered almost inaudibly with a sigh so desperate that it made your stomach turn.
âHey, whatâs wrong?â you asked, your voice small as you werenât quite sure how to act yet.
He glanced at you, and you couldnât help but notice his eyes glistening with salty wetness that was about to spill out and smear his frustration all over his cheeks.
You always loved Fiveâs eyes - his huge, almost puppy dog eyes that made you absolutely lose yourself in their depth. Whenever you looked into them, you saw wisdom, maturity, exhaustion and patience, dedication and passion, all at the same time. There was a whole other universe behind his blue orbs, and you admired it endlessly. Looking into his eyes right now, however, was nowhere near as exciting and pleasant. Instead, it felt like some strange and violent ache was gripping you at the very heart and squeezing it without mercy, and you winced at the sensation as worry and concern were uncontrollably blossoming inside your ribcage.
Five didnât grant you with an answer, too busy trying to hold back his tears and clenching his teeth proudly as if there was any point at all.
You got up on your feet and approached Five slowly, careful not to freak him out as you were giving him the time to get used to your presence in his personal space. Normally, he wouldnât mind yet you couldnât tell if the same rules applied to scenarios like the one taking place.
âIâm here, yeah? Itâs okay, youâre okay,â you kept repeating like a mantra as you pulled Five into your embrace.
He buried his face in the crook of your neck and you instantly felt your skin getting damp. In just a few seconds Fiveâs entire body relaxed into yours and he wrapped his arms around you tightly, finally letting go and allowing himself to have a proper cry. He hadnât had one in years, and, by all means, he was entitled to this breakdown.
Most of the time, Five was the one protecting you - looking out for you and leading the both of you out of dangerous and potentially lethal situations. Not that it was a completely one-sided dynamic but it was true that you tended to rely on him quite a lot in times of crisis. Five was good in crisis, exceptional actually. He made decisions quickly and didnât hesitate to do absolutely anything it took to achieve his goals, which, unfortunately, meant that he was often forced to make choices where humanity and ethics were no longer a top priority.
Despite all that, Five always seemed in control, and even when he wasnât, you knew heâd get it back eventually. You had placed your trust in him at all times, and only now were you starting to realize that it must have felt like a huge weight of responsibility on his shoulders. Granted, he was objectively smarter and more capable due to his superpowers but he was still human.
Hearing Fiveâs hopeless and feverish sobbing was unnerving, and you could only imagine what was going on in his cluttered and clearly overloaded mind as he was bawling his eyes out with such raw and genuine fury. From the lack of a better idea you simply waited for Five to cry himself out, patiently holding him in your arms and whispering words of reassurance into the air, not so much out of hope heâd hear them and listen but more as a means of letting him feel you were still there.
âIâm so fucking tired,â Five finally uttered but his words rather quickly got drowned in his weeping. You still got the message, though.
âYou deserve to rest, Five,â you replied, feeling your legs start to shake from the weight of Fiveâs entire body leaning on your form. As much as you wanted to stay like this for as long as he needed, you couldnât exactly go against your evident physical disadvantage. Five was a heavy gentleman, after all.
âHey, letâs move to the bed, yeah?â it was more of a statement than a question, so you stepped towards the bed suggestively, expecting him to follow you. To your relief, he didnât resist and followed your lead right away, seemingly too exhausted to even think, let alone disobey.
Fiveâs body was limp from the absence of energy, all of which had presumably gone into crying, and he could barely manage to walk on his own, so you grabbed at his shoulders to steady him.
It felt like his physical self was now merely a vehicle with no pilot to steer it, and his mind was long lost someplace else.
As you sat Five down, you caressed his cheek with your thumb, wiping away the trails of his tears whilst also trying to gently break him out of the prison of his troubled and restless brain. To your disappointment, it failed to spark any sort of response.
Right in this moment, he looked almost defenseless. Sure, he wasnât an incapable baby all of a sudden but he was relying on you, reversing your roles and putting all of his worries and pain on your shoulders, basically asking you to carry them for him because he simply couldnât anymore.
âFives. Fives? Look at me, please?â you called, trying to shift his attention to something on the outside because you knew it was the looking inside that pushed him to crumble.
âFocus on my voice, alright?â you tried to keep your tone as steady and stern as you possibly could because right now you were his only bridge back to reality.
You pressed your palms against Fiveâs shoulders and slowly climbed onto his lap, resting your weight atop of him completely and hoping the pressure of it would manage to snap him out of his almost delirious daze.
As your hand reached for Fiveâs, you placed it on your chest right where your heart was beating and said:
âCan you feel it? It means Iâm alive, Fives. Iâm a human and a consciousness just like you. And I'm never leaving your side, no matter the circumstances. Youâre never going to be alone, I promise you.â
You took Five by his chin with your other hand and softly guided his gaze upwards to meet your own, noticing his red glossy eyes finally regaining some clarity. The very peak of Fiveâs episode had already passed, and, as he was coming down from it, he encircled your waist with his arm and let his head sink to your shoulder with his eyes closed shut.
Still sitting straddled across his lap, you brushed your fingers through his soft silky hair and began to massage his scalp in a calming manner, trying to release some of the tension and lull him further into peacefulness. As your fingers moved a little lower, you knew youâd hit the sweet spot because Five literally purred into your skin as soon as he felt your nails gently scratch at the nape of his neck.
âHow many times did I say youâre a cat, Hargreeves,â you rolled your eyes at his reaction and couldnât resist a wide smile as you buried your nose in his hair. Five hummed quietly, and it was the only response you were going to get from him, which, to be fair, was already a big improvement so you couldn't really complain.
âHow about we get you into some comfier clothes, wash your face and then you can tell me all about whatâs been on your mind, hm?â you proposed confidently, still holding Five close and practically enveloping him in your warmth.
Your every movement was saturated with such understanding and care that not for a split second did Five feel like his vulnerability was making him weak or unworthy. It was quite the opposite, and with each passing moment he was beginning to feel like you were only making him stronger.
He nodded at your suggestion approvingly but didnât move an inch, and you took it as a hint that he needed a few more minutes of sitting in silence; the bridge of his nose pressed to your collarbone as he was still finding his way back into the present.
You didnât mind at all.

The Cute Barista
Pairing: Jimin x reader
Word count: 2263
Genre: Pastel cafe?? Jimin being a comforting person :3
Summary: Your favourite barista has moved away and in her place is the ever charming Park Jimin. Can he comfort you just the same?
Warnings: Cringey pick up line (rip but it fit well with the story), stressed and upset reader
After a long day, a trip to the cafe was exactly what she needed. Classes were kicking her ass, what with essays, assignments, and presentations piling up on the daily, not to mention her trying to keep up with work and her own personal life. A calming sit-down, with a nice book, along with her favourite barista, Hwa Young, would surely cheer her up.Â
Opening the door to the cafe, the smell of brownies and buttercream frosting immediately wafts up her nose. The overall atmosphere of the place, with its pastel pinks walls and baby blue trimming, its bubbly aura due to the dainty display of desserts, large windows, and sweet jazz music instantly calms Y/N after a hectic day.Â
Walking up to the cash register, she realizes that Hwa Young isnât at her usual station, neither is she wiping down the tables or serving customers.Â
She spots a blond boy standing in place of her favourite barista and decides to ask for her whereabouts. âExcuse me, I was wondering where Hwa Young was?â
The boy looks up from the till and gives her a warming grin, cheeks almost covering his eyes. My, heâs really handsome. Handsome, however, was an understatement. His face had an innocent, boyish charm to it, with large, honest eyes, plump lips with a subtle cupidâs bow, and a soft jaw.Â
âI suppose youâre in the dark about her.â Hearing this, Y/N grows worried and the boy sees this. âOh donât worry,â he scrambles, panicking for frightening her, âshe just moved to Japan for university. She left just last week.âÂ
She left? Crestfallen, Y/N looks to the ground. Damn, I was really looking forward to seeing her. âReally? Itâs just...she has a really comforting aura and it was something I needed right now. I suppose I wonât be getting that ever again, if not ever again.âÂ
Y/N realizes her mistake of oversharing and clasps a hand over her mouth with wide eyes. âOh god, Iâm so sorry. The last thing you need right now is for a stranger telling you her problem.âÂ
The new barista chuckles, âItâs alright, my sister was a big help to a lot of people so I understand.â
âYeah, she- wait. Sister? She was your sister?â Y/N squeaks out.
âIs, not was. Sheâs still here with us, just far away. But yeah, after she left I decided to take her place here to help our mom run the cafe.âÂ
âThatâs sweet of youâŚâ finding no reason to stay any longer she decides to leave, picking up her wallet from the counter. âAnyways, Iâve got to go, but uhhh, thank you for telling me about your sister. Have a nice day-â she reads the boyâs name tag. âJimin. Iâll be going now.â
Just as sheâs about to turn, Y/N feels a grip on her wrist, disabling her from leaving. Jimin looks at his hold on Y/N and quickly lets go.Â
âListen, I know youâre not exactly in the best of moods right now and I know Iâm not my sister but please, stay and give yourself a rest.â
She considers his comment for a moment before turning back to him and offering a tight-lipped smile.Â
âAlright. Iâll have a medium honey latte, please,â she says, offering Jimin money for her order.Â
Taking the money from her, he gives a mock salute, chest puffing out. âComing right up, Miss.âÂ
Y/N canât help but giggle at his gesture, hands going up to cover her smile.
âYeahhhh! Thatâs what we like to hear. My goodness, if I knew your smile was this bright, I never would have bothered to change the light bulbs in the chandeliers.â Jimin puts his arms out as if protecting himself from a bright flash and at this, Y/N laughs some more. Giving the barista some more material, he pretends to swoon, resting the back of his on his forehead. âWow, wow, wow. I might as well just shut off our radio too. Your laugh sounds much nicer.â
Y/N blushes, earning a âcute,â from Jimin but then composes herself. âCall me Y/N, please.â
Nodding, he begins tinkering with the espresso machine. âY/N, I might not be as comforting as my sister but Iâm certainly more charming and cuter than her, arenât I?â throwing a wink to the girl.Â
Y/N rolls her eyes and replies, âYou guys share half of the same DNA.â
âThatâs true but my DNA gave me the upper hand in looks.â Y/N couldnât deny that. She couldnât stop staring at his lips, how they formed when he smiles, or the position they were in whenever he pouted whilst concentrating.Â
âAlright, one medium honey latte for Y/N,â he whoops, placing the porcelain cup before her.Â
âThank you so much.â Taking a sip from her drink, she closes her eyes in pure bliss, the warmth of the latte spreading throughout her body.Â
âHow is it? Is it too sweet? I think I might have put too much sweetener in it so-â
âItâs perfect,â Y/N sighs, opening her eyes once more.Â
He gives a proud smile and pats his head. âGood, Iâm glad. Iâll leave you alone now, let you decompress for a while.â
âThank you for everything⌠for being so patient and kind. I appreciate it,â Y/N says, gazing out the window.Â
âA little kindness never anybody. I just hope I made your day somewhat better.â
âYou definitely did.â
And with that, Jimin leaves the girl alone, moving on to his own barista duties of washing the dishes, clearing tables, and taking the orders of a few people who wanted a kick of caffeine. It was close to the evening which meant that the cafe was nearly empty, something Y/N found most agreeable as it allowed her to enjoy the soft music playing through the speakers while enjoying her recent read. For about thirty minutes or so, Y/N was enjoying her novel whilst sipping occasionally on her latte, and at that moment, she was finally at peace. Here, she was able to temporarily forget about school, work, and her general stresses in life. All that mattered was her tranquility, the porcelain cup sitting ahead of her, and the cast of characters splayed out in her book. Y/N realizes that her brow had loosened, curing her blistering headache ever since she stepped foot into the shop, especially since she talked to Jimin.Â
Leaving all her worries aside, Y/N gazes out the window and ponders. Everything is so beautiful right now, what with the snow gently falling and families walking hand in hand, she thought. Itâs a shame I canât fully enjoy life with all my stress plaguing my thoughts. I should just enjoy it while it lasts.Â
It didnât last long, that is, only because Jimin came over with a fresh piece of what appeared to be strawberry shortcake. He places the plate in front of Y/N and leaves with a simple, âBon appetit.â
âHey wait! I didnât order this.â she rushes to her feet to return the cake.Â
Jimin comes back, pushing Y/N by her shoulders so sheâd sit back down. âI know you didnât. But you canât drink something on an empty stomach,â he urges, nudging the cake towards her and turning back around once again.Â
With her mouth shaped into an Oâ, she reaches for her wallet to pay for the dessert but before she can do so, Jimin, with his back towards Y/N, protests, âdonât even think of paying for the cake. Itâs on the house.â
âOh, I couldnât possibly eat this without paying. Besides, wonât you get in trouble?âÂ
âYou can, and you will,â he affirms, now facing Y/N, slinging the rag over his shoulder, adding with, âplus, whatâs the worst my mom can do? Not feed me Jjajangmyeon for two weeks? I can survive.â
Warily, Y/N begins to stab the fork into the cake before venturing with a meek, âAre you sure?â
âIâm positive,â he declares, giving her a warm smile that makes her want to eat the cake all the more, wanting to see his smile once more. âAlso, I uhhhh,â Jimin stammers, âI wanted to give it to you cuz uhhh...it m-matches your sweater vest,â he declares, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment from his statement.Â
Confused, Y/N looks down at herself. As per usual, she was in a rush to attend her first lecture of the day and just threw on the first thing her eyes met, which was a pink, strawberry printed sweater vest over a white button-up. Wait. He just gave me a slice of cake because it matched my vest. How much cuter can this guy get? With a blush creeping up her face, she shoved a piece of the cake in her mouth, and in an instant, her tense shoulders dropped, like a weight lifted off of them. The sweetness and acidity of the strawberries coated her tongue but was soon covered by the velvety taste of the buttercream frosting.Â
âWow Jimin, this is...absolutely delicious.âÂ
He hums, âIâm glad you think so. Iâll be sure to tell my mom.âÂ
âYeah, you def- wait. Your mom?â Y/N interjects, mouth full of cake.
Jimin takes a napkin from the dispenser and wipes the frosting from the corner of her mouth and asks, âDid you really think I was the one who made the cake? You overestimate me, my dear friend,â he leans in closer to Y/N, lips frighteningly close to her ear and whispers, âI appreciate the sentiment though.â He pulls back and winks at her, hair falling over his eyes. âI just thought it befitting to feed you something as sweet as yourself.âÂ
Shocked at his boldness, Y/N goes back to eating her cake, not quite sure how to respond to him, especially since she was turning redder and redder by the second and it feels like her tongue had been swallowed.Â
âCute,â Jimin chuckles, going back to washing the dishes.Â
By the time Y/N finished eating, the sun had set and it was closing time, leaving only Jimin and Y/N to be the only two in the shop. She looked at the time and her eyes nearly bulged out of her head. âOh god, Iâve got to get going. Iâve got to wake up early tomorrow.âÂ
Y/N scrambles to gather her items in her bag, her book, her phone, her wallet and is about to zoom out the door before she hears Jimin calling her name.Â
âY/N hold up! You forgot something.â Bewildered, lets go of her hold on the door handle, and looks to the boy.Â
âCome here,â he beckons for Y/N to come closer.Â
Walking closer to the counter, Y/N has her hand reached out for him to place whatever it is she left behind. Jimin, placing something unbelievably small in her palm, smiles bright, cheeks overcoming his eyes. She looks down and sees a single Hersheyâs chocolate kiss. Y/N looks back to Jimin for an explanation and what he says next throws her off completely.
âHershey factories make millions of kisses a day, but Iâm asking for only one...perhaps after our first date?âÂ
Y/N is silent for a few beats as she registers his cheesy pickup line. Jimin, panicking, quickly regrets his words and goes to take back the kiss but is stopped when Y/N doubles over, shoulders shaking.Â
Concerned, the barista walks around the counter and puts his arms around Y/N, scared that he triggered what he thought were waterworks. âY/N...Iâm really sorry, I didnât mean to upset you!â But then he hears laughter, belly-aching laughter, one that Jimin wants to hear all the time.Â
For a good minute, Y/N is hunched over, cackling while Jimin lets out small giggles but then ceases her laughter, wiping her tears away, and looks towards Jimin. âWow, thank you for making me laugh like that. I havenât done that for so long.â
Jimin frowns, âIâm happy I made you laugh but are you laughing at me or with me?â
âWith you, Iâd never laugh at you, especially since you made me feel so much better today,â Y/N replies.Â
âOh thank God,â he lets out a deep sigh of relief. âSo about that date...would you like to go out with me? I know itâs weird since we just met today but I heard a lot about you from Hwa Young and-and I always wanted to see what you were like. Our paths crossed and I didnât want to give this moment up.â
Y/N considered how much of an impact he had on her in just one day and thought what it would be like being with him every day. She knew sheâd feel tremendously better. As of now, sheâs felt more comfortable than she had for a long while. Being around him reminded her of all the beautiful things sheâs failed to notice and allowed her to feel like herself once more. If being around him felt like this, she never wanted it to end. His presence comforted Y/N and made her feel right at home. She definitely wasnât going to turn him down.Â
âIâd love nothing more than to go out with you. But you better not break that promise of a kiss.â
Brushing a small strand of hair behind Y/Nâs ear, he replies with, âOh, I promise.â

Part 1: Durrell Challenge
Part 2: Coffee Date
Part 3: Life With You is a Walk in the Park
Part 4: Movie Night
It was Saturday night and you had been invited to a karaoke night with your friends, you had invited Henry so he could get to know your friends better. You were getting ready, you had decided to curl your hair and apply a little bit more makeup than usual, not too much, it still looked natural but you had darker eyeshadow on than usual. You opted to wear black skinny jeans, a striped deep-neck blouse and toeless heels. You couldnât stop thinking about last night and the events that occurred, you wondered if Henry was thinking about it as much as you were.
You had text Henry to meet you at the pub, planning to get there earlier than your friends, you ordered a cab whilst you got your things ready, ensuring your cats had everything they needed. The cab arrived shortly after and took you to the pub. You walked inside, greeting the staff as you entered, you sat down at a booth big enough for all of you. Henry arrived shortly after, dressed in black jeans and a grey cotton shirt, his chest hair on display which made you have to take a deep breath trying to compose your thoughts.
He waved at you a huge smile on his face, he came over to you sliding in next to you and hugging you tightly.
âHello gorgeousâ he says, pecking your lips making you blush.
âYou look hot Henryâ you said, which got the reply of a deep cough and chuckle.
âSo do youâ he said, his eyes flicking down to your chest making you and him smirk.
âKeep your eyes up here Henâ you joked, making him smile.
âWant a drink?â you asked âyes pleaseâ he said. âGuinness?â you asked, making him say yes please again. You left the booth and Henry couldnât help but check out your bottom as you walked, he thought about last night as he did. You caught him as you turned your head round slightly, making him look into your eyes and shrug as if to say âI don't regret itâ.
You ordered a Guinness and a pint for yourself, carrying them over to the table. Sitting down next to Henry his hand immediately panting itself on your thigh as the other arms hooked around your shoulders on the headrest of the chair.
âHow are you?â you said, your own hand resting on his thigh, which somehow looked bigger in his tight jeans.
âIâm very good, how are you my love?â he smirked, placing a kiss to your neck where he could see the bruise he planted yesterday.
âI also happen to be very good. Coincidence?â you said making him chuckle.
âHmm, maybeâ he said his lips still moving against your lips.
âHenry people are lookingâ you said, your hand threading through his hair at his neck as your eyes fluttered closed.
âLet them lookâ he said, beginning to suck against your neck when you heard someone across the room cough awkwardly, making him pull away.Â
His timing was impeccable as you heard the door of the pub opened and in walked Lewis.
âHi guys.â he said nicely, shrugging his jacket off when he made it to you.Â
âHi Lew. This is Henryâ you said, standing up to hug him before gesturing to Henry, he stood up and shook Lewis' hand.
âNice to meet you mate. Yn has told me a lot about youâ Henry said, smiling and sitting back down. Lewis sat on the opposite side of the booth.
âYou too mateâ he replied before the both of them said âgood things I hopeâ at the same time making them laugh.
âNo I bitched about both of youâ you said, all of you laughing, the pub door opened and Amy walked in with James and Liam.
âOh shit, I forgot to tell you that Emily canât make it, she had to look after her sister's kids for the nightâ Lewis said, all of you standing up as they walked up.
âHello gorgeous girlâ Amy said, hugging you tightly, squeezing her as she did, placing a friendly kiss on her cheek, her eyes flicked down to your exposed neck and she wiggled her eyebrows at you, making you chuckle and flick your hair in front of your neck to cover it..
âNice to see you againâ she said, leaning over to hug Henry too.
âYou too.â Henry replied.
âThis is Henryâ you said, introducing him to Liam and James who both shook his hand. They all sat down but you remained standing.
âDrinks?â you said, to which they all replied quickly with what they wanted.
âIâll get itâ Henry offered, making you shake your head and place a kiss against his cheek making him blush in front of your friends. You walked over to the bar ordering everyone else's' drinks, you leant against the bar, turning your head back to the table, Henry was laughing with your friends which was a good sign, he was sat next to Lewis with Amy, Liam and James on the other side of the booth, a space next to Henry for you to sit. The barman came back a short while after with all of the drinks.
âCheers mateâ you said smiling to him as he placed the drinks on a tray.
âNeed a hand?â he said, being friendly.
âThatâs okay, Iâve got itâ you said, carrying the tray effortlessly to the table. You placed it down and sat next to Henry a round of âthanksâ and âcheersâ being heard.
âFor someone as clumsy as you Iâm surprised you managed to carry this back without getting it all down youâ James said making everyone including Henry laugh.
âHa Haâ you said sarcastically, taking a sip from your drink.
You all then began talking between yourself, your friends asking kind and interesting questions about Henry and his career, helping him to be comfortable around them which you appreciated.
âHow long have you been together?â Henry asked James who was holding hands with Liam.
â4 yearsâ he replied, smiling at each other which made you and Henry smile.
âThey are so cute. They got moved to different sections at work because they couldnât keep their hands off each otherâ Amy said, making everybody laugh.
Little to your knowledge, your friends had put your name into the hat that was being passed around the pub, you hadnât known this as you were getting another round, so when your name was called you were shocked.
âI hate you guys so muchâ you said, putting your middle finger up to them as you were prompted to go on stage. This karaoke night had a machine but also had a guitar and a piano which you could play. You walked on stage, still hating your friends, Henry smiled at you as he was laughing along with your friends.
âMay I?â you gestured to the piano making the karaoke man nod.
âIntroduce yourself and the songâ the man said, making you smile.
âHi everyone. This is super awkward, my friends put me up to this and I hate them for it. But um, my name is Yn, this is I Lost a Friend by Fineasâ you said, making your friends and Henry cheer at you.
âShe plays piano? Is she any good?â Henry asked Lewis.
âYou didnât know. Oof sit back and enjoy Henryâ Lewis said making Henry confused. You began playing the first chords of the song and soon after your voice filled the room. Henry was instantly blown away by your voice, it was beautiful and he looked to your friends who were smiling at you.
youtube
I lost a friend Like keys in a sofa Like a wallet in the backseat Like ice in the summer heat I lost a friend Like sleep on a red-eye Like money on a bad bet Like time worrying about Every bad thing that hasn't happened yet
You sang, your fingers easily drifting over the keys, your eyes closing as you got into the song.
I know I'll be alright, but I'm not tonight I'll be lying awake counting all the mistakes I've made Replaying fights I know I'll be alright, but I'm not tonight I lost a friend, I lost a friend, I lost my mind, and nobody believes me Say, "I know that he don't need me 'Cause he made a little too much money to be 20 and sad" And I'll be fine without 'em But all I do is write about 'em How the hell did I lose a friend I never had? Never had
You continued singing. Henry leant forward in his chair, everything around him seemed like it disappeared as he heard you sing, every new piece of infomation he learnt about you he loved but he thinks this might be his favourite. Why doesnât she do this for a living? he thought to himself sheâs truly amazing. This song was sad and you sung it with so much emotion, the room went completly quiet, everyone on the edge of their seats, listening carefully to every word that fell perfectly from your mouth.
I'm on the mend Like I'm wearing a neck brace Like I'm sleeping in my own place Like I'm pulling all the stitches out of my own face I'm on the mend Like I'm icing a new sprain Like I'm walking on a new cane Like it's been a couple days Since I slipped and said something sorta like your name, I know I'll be alright, but I'm not tonight I'll be lying awake counting all the mistakes I've made Replaying fights
You sung, swaying slightly in your chair, really getting into the song. Your friends started swaying too which made you smile.
I know I'll be alright, but I'm not tonight I'm on the mend, but I lost a friend, I lost my mind, and nobody believes me Say, "I know that he don't need meâ
Cause he made a little too much money to be 20 and sad
And I'll be fine without 'em But all I do is write about 'em How the hell did I lose a friend I never had? I'd apologize if I thought it might make a difference Or make you listen I'd apologise if it was black and white But life is different Just try to listen to me now, I know I'll be alright, but I'm not tonight I lost a friend, I lost a friend, I lost my mind, and nobody believes me Say, "I know that he don't need me 'Cause he made a little too much money to be 20 and sad" And I'll be fine without 'em But all I do is write about 'em How the hell did I lose a friend I never had? Never hadÂ
You continued to sing the song until the end and everyone applauded you when you had finished, making you blush deeply.
âI wasnât expecting that, that was amazingâ the karaoke man said as you stood up making you laugh.
âThank youâ you said, smiling at him before walking back to your friends, sliding in next to Henry.
âI really hate you guysâ you said laughing, you felt Henry staring at you so you looked to him as his hand rested against your thigh.
âOh shut up, you were amazingâ Amy said, making everyone nod.
âWhat?â you said, tucking your hair behind your ear, he leant in and kissed you firmly making your friends coo which made you blush.
âYou never told me you could sing or play the piano. That was amazing Ynâ Henry said making you kiss him again.
âWhat can I say? Iâm full of surprisesâ you said, using the phrase you and him always said as a joke, your elbows on the table, leaning against the palm of your hand.
âYou truly areâ he said, leaning forward to place a kiss against your forehead as his arm rested over your shoulders.
You looked to your friends who were smiling at the both of you.
The night carried on like that, all of you laughing, singing along to the songs people went up to sing, drinking and having fun. Henry fit in well with you friends, there was never any moments of awkwardness, his hand rested constantly on your knee or on your thigh, occasionally wondering up (whether intentional you don't know) and every now and then he'd turn and smile at you, placing a kiss against your cheek or lips.
It was now later on that night and you had invited Henry back to yours, you entered your house, your cats nowhere to be seen, probably on your bed. You threw you keys in the bowl next to your door, hanging your jacket up, Henry doing the same. Little to no words were exchanged but it was a comfortable silence. Henry looked around again, he really did love your house, he had only been in your living room and kitchen but still.
âBare with me while I go get changed okay?â you said, making Henry nod and walk to your living room. You got changed into a black pair of sweats and a loose top, cleaning your face of all makeup. You walked back downstairs into the living room seeing Henry stroking one of your cats.
âOoo, you like nice and cozy, how are you still so pretty without makeup?â he said, making you smile, he sat back against your sofa, pulling you into his lap, his hand running across the soft fabric of your sweats which covered your legs.
âHow do we always end up in this same position?â he said making you chuckle
âHmm think yesterday looked a little like thisâ you said, swinging your leg over his thighs so you were straddling him again, you both laughed this time though, liking how this position didnât always have to be sexual.
âYou were truly amazing this evening Yn, that song... so good, very emotional, almost cried, I canât lieâ he said, you smiling at how sweet he always was.
âThank youâ you replied, pecking his cheek.
âI want to hear you sing more nowâ he said âYouâre so talented, you know you could do it as a career right? I know you love conservation but it's trueâ he said, a crimson blush arising on your cheeks as he spoke
"Can I show you something?" you said as if reading his mind, your voice came out in a whisper and he nodded. He stood and you jokingly wrapped yourself around him like a koala, slowly dropping yours legs to the floor, taking his hand in yours leading him upstairs into a large room, you turned the lights on and Henry smiled at the sight. It was a studio, guitars were framed on the wall and an old standard size piano was placed at the back. Across one of the walls was a glass panel and a door which led to what looked like a recording booth. Brown leather sofas furnished the room and a coffee table was placed in front of them, sheets of paper lying across it, Henry picked one up and saw song lyrics.
"Wow" was all he said, sitting down on the sofa.
"Spent my first three paychecks on this roomâ you laughed âI don't really come in here anymore" you said, wiping some dust off your piano before coming to sit next to him. Henry didn't say anything, he knew it wasn't the time, it was the time to let you talk and for him to listen.
"There's something I haven't told you Hen, I was really scared too. I hadn't really told many people, only my family knows and Amy and Lewis" you said making him not.
"It's okay, take your time" he said kindly, you nodded and took a breath before talking again.
"Back in London, I was engaged" you said, he didn't gasp, he didn't get angry, he just nodded, trying to be as understanding as he possibly could.
"We met at University, he was studying to become a Marine Biologist, we became friends pretty quickly and we both loved music. Us and a few of our friends made a band" you said smiling at the memory which made Henry smile.
"We weren't huge, but we were quite popular around campus" you laughed "we performed in local pubs and clubs and at uni events."
"His name was Adam, he was the lead guitarist in the band. We left university, we moved in together, he proposed and I said yes. We were so happy" you said, a tear running down your face.
"Umm... One day, I um... I came home and Adam had taken his own life" you said, as you began crying. Henry didn't know what to do but he pulled you close to him, wrapping his arms around you, it was just what you needed.
"So the band broke up... And I began travelling the world, doing conservation, occupying myself with work. But every time I would go back home to London I hated it, I was reminded of everything about him. It got easier as time went on but I was hardly ever in London, always on the road, working for different conservation projects. I finally started to be happy again, I loved Adam and part of me always will... But I couldn't let it stop my life, he wouldn't have wanted that, he always said to me âweâre here for a good time baby, not a long time, youâve got to make the most of your lifeâ. I realised that I couldnât spend all my time thinking about him and what happened, I had to accept that I loved him but heâs not around to love me anymore. I have to make a new life for myself. So when I got the job here, it was a blessing, I had my dream job, somewhere I could start a new... I made amazing friends and now... Now I have you" you said, now crying happy tears. Henry's hands resting against your face.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner" you said, making him shake his head and place a sweet, gentle kiss on your lips.
"It's okay. It's okay. I'm glad you told me now. I'm so sorry that happened Yn, I really am" he said, kissing you again.
"I'm happy now though" you said smiling.
"I'm glad. Me too. Me too" he said, pulling you into his chest.
You got up, staking a guitar off the wall, walking over to Henry, sitting down next to him.
âThis was Adamâsâ you said, your fingers hovering over an engraving on the guitar which said âThose we love never truly leave usâ which you got engraved.
âTell me about himâ he said, making you smile, you placed the guitar back on the wall before joining Henry, he moved you so your legs were draped over his, his hand holding you against him, beginning to play with your hair as your own hands landed on his chest, your head rested against his shoulder.
âHe was a really nice guy, a good guy. He wanted to change the world. He always told me that I was too kind for my own good, but he was the king oneâ you smiled, making Henry smile too.
âHe was an awesome guitar player, really good at singing too and writing songsâ you continued.
âWhat did you do in the band?â he asked kindly.
âI was the lead singer, played keys and sometimes played guitarâ you said, making Henry smile.
âWhat happened to everyone else?â Henry asked.
âAfter everything happened, the band broke up, we all went our separate ways for a while, just trying to move on from what happened, heal yâknowâ you said, making Henry nod.
âJust before I moved here, we all met up again, and it was like it was before, we all spoke about Adam, with nothing but love, we were no longer sad. I know that sounds bad, but why ruin his image with negativity?â you asked Henry who sighed and kissed you.
âYouâre perfectâ he whispered against your lips.Â
âWhatâs everyone up to now?â he asked.
âLouie was our drummer, heâs a musical teacher, Ollie played guitar too, heâs got his own band now and Gemma, she played bass, sheâs a full time mum nowâ you smiled.
âTheyâre coming to my birthday party, Amy has organised Ollieâs band to play, they live in London but are going to come for it which is really niceâ you said, making Henry nod.
âIt will be nice to meet them.â he said, making you smile.
âThank you for being so supportive Henry, youâre the bestâ you said, resting your head against his warm chest. He held you in his arms, placing kisses against your head, his warmth radiating off him, into you, sending you into a gentle slumber. Henry picked you up bridal style, carrying you to what he assumed was your bedroom, he placed you down on the bed, tucking you in and placing a sweet kiss against your forehead.
He didn't look around your bedroom, he didn't feel comfortable doing that whilst you were sleeping. Instead he walked downstairs, grabbing a piece of paper and pen from your kitchen writing you a note.
âGood morning my sweet love. I hope you slept well and had wonderful dreams. I didnât want to overstay my welcome, I tucked you into bed and went home. Thank you for sharing that with me last night, it means more to me than you will ever know that you trust me like that. It makes me sad that you went through that but I understand now how you are the strongest, most amazing person I know. I realise it more and more everyday, the more I learn about you, the more I realise I need you in my life - Your Henryâ he put the pen down, grabbing his jacket, walking to the door and slowly closing the door to your home behind him.

To Be Loved
Love is a fickle thing, it can burst into life within minutes or it can take months to fully bloom. The one thing Jaskier and Eskel can always agree on is that it's more than worth the time it takes...
A/N: continues on from to be found but also works as a standalone, written for aro week <3
-
Their first date had gone well, all things considered.
Eskel had been a little sleep deprived on account of working until late and worrying until even later but Jaskier hadnât seemed to mind at all, bursting with enough enthusiasm for the both of them.
Heâd been waiting outside the bakery at six, scrolling through his phone and looking up just as Eskel was debating whether he should just sneak back inside. Jaskier had grinned widely and Eskel had immediately known it was going to be a good evening.
âYou look like you have a lemon stuck in your mouth,â Lambert tells him as he walks into work a week later.
âAnd how would you know what that looks like?â Eskel grumbles.
To be honest, heâs felt like he has a lemon stuck in his mouth since last weekend because Jaskier had promptly disappeared off the face of the earth. He wants to think itâs just a coincidence but he canât help feeling as though itâs another case of the whole Eskel isn't good at first dates so of course it wouldnât work out thing again.
Lambert raises his hands in surrender and gestures to the kitchens, where everyone is allowed to work in peace when theyâre not in the right mindset for actual interaction. He zones out immediately, only looking up when Coen pokes his head in the doorframe.
âWe might need your help with this guy,â he says, and Eskel sighs, already expecting a problematic customer or something.
What heâs not expecting is Jaskier tapping his foot on the floor and biting his lip. He freezes when he sees Eskel, opening his mouth to say something, but Eskel holds up a hand. âCan you come through to the back? I donât want to have this conversation here.â
In the few minutes it takes for them to reach the office, heâs decided heâs more than ready for Jaskier to admit his spontaneous flirting was just a whim and he's not interested in anything else. Only, Jaskier does nothing of the sort.
âEskel, I am so sorry about disappearing! I didnât mean to, I swear! Itâs just that Shaniâs place flooded so she broke her ankle and I had to drive her to the hospital but we were arguing on the way and this guy at a red light decided Iâd hurt her as if I wouldnât rather die but we ended up fighting and I ended up with a concussion again and we both had to stay for observation or something and I- Iâm really sorry for leaving you hanging,â Jaskier blurts.
Eskel blinks.
âIs she okay?â he asks, not really sure what heâs meant to be focusing on.
Jaskier nods, his shoulders dropping as he lets out a slow exhale. âShe went to medical school, she knew exactly what they were going to do before we even got in the car.â
âThatâs useful,â Eskel replies, but then shakes his head. âWait, are you okay? Someone gave you a concussion?â
Heâd been amused last time Jaskier had downplayed concussions but now heâs seriously wondering if he should be concerned about how the other man can be so unfazed by so much - itâs not like you can develop an immunity to head trauma.
Jaskier just nods again. âOf course, Iâm fine. I hope I didnât give you the wrong impression?â
âNot at all,â Eskel lies.
There are arms around him before he can try and figure out whether Jaskier had seen through his lie. He stumbles slightly but allows the embrace to happen, oddly comforted by the fact that Jaskier is just as relieved to have explained the truth as Eskel is; maybe this time things truly can work out, he thinks.
.
âYou really donât have to go tonight,â Jaskier says for the fourth time that day.
Eskel sighs, throwing a cushion at him. âItâs been three months since we met, I think itâs about time I see you perform.â
Jaskier hums before flopping onto the small sofa, resting his head on Eskelâs lap with the rest of his body draped lengthwise, his feet dangling off the armrest at the end. âBut I know you donât like loud or crowded spaces and we aim to have exactly that,â he pouts.
Thereâs a long moment in which Eskel just appreciates that heâs not being forced to go despite how bizarre it is to experience the exact opposite situation. He smiles down at Jaskier and very truthfully says, âIt wonât matter because I like you.â
He places a finger on Jaskierâs lips when he tries to argue again, chuckling. âAnd before you ask me again if Iâm sure, donât.â
Jaskierâs eyes practically sparkle for a moment before he twists his head and bites Eskelâs finger, nowhere near hard enough to hurt but firmly enough for it to be a shock.
Rolling his eyes, Eskel laughs. âWhat, my baking isnât enough for you anymore?â
Starting to reply only to realise that he canât form actual words whilst biting down on an index finger, Jaskier pulls Eskelâs hand away and grins. âDessert is fine, darling, but youâre a five-course meal and I wouldnât trade all the oven goodies in the world for you.â
Eskel has no idea how to reply to that.
Itâs far more romantic than anything heâs used to and heâs never been good at flirting so the last thing he wants to do is say something that ruins whatever they have going on. After a long moment of panic, he settles on shrugging. âWe have a pretty good oven.â
Jaskier hums in reply and thankfully doesnât press on his hesitation, sitting upright with a small sigh. âI suppose I should go get dressed. Are you driving?â
âI donât trust you with my car,â Eskel says, only half joking.
âIâll be wearing those heeled boots then,â Jaskier grins, taking absolutely no offence as he springs to his feet and blows a kiss before heading to Eskelâs bathroom, where heâd dumped his change of clothes when arriving earlier and declared it was his domain for the rest of the day.
If anyone had told the Eskel of a few years ago that heâd willingly allow someone so chaotic to saunter around his home and genuinely flirt with him in every other conversation, heâd probably have rolled his eyes and assumed theyâd somehow mistaken him for someone else; maybe changing his mindset has been for the better, he thinks.
.
The ocean has no right to be so elegant.
Eskel had never been a huge fan of beaches because the stubbornness of sand is quite frankly sinful but Jaskier absolutely adores everything about them and thereâs only so many of his puppy dog eyes that can be refused.
âWeâll barely even touch the sand, I promise!â Jaskier had declared, and heâd made sure of it too.
Soon enough, theyâre settled on the rocky side of the beach, propped up against a larger stone with their legs stretched out in front of them and their shoulders pressed together. Jaskier slips his fingers into Eskelâs and gently squeezes, which has quickly become one of Eskelâs favourite things ever.
âArenât the waves gorgeous?â Jaskier asks wistfully.
Eskel hums. âThey can still kill you.â
Jaskier laughs, nudging him. âEver the optimist, arenât you? Nothing can kill me, darling, not today.â
Well, he canât really argue with that because he feels the exact same way. Itâs hard to think of anything morbid when celebrating six months together and he doesnât particularly want to try so he just nods in agreement.
âThank you,â Jaskier whispers after a while.
Eskel turns to him, tilting his head to one side. âNo, you were right, it is soothing to watch the waves.â
âThatâs not what I mean.â Jaskier lifts their connected hands and places a soft kiss on Eskelâs thumb before looking directly at him with an even softer smile. âThank you for letting me stay for so long.â
He says that as if Eskel isnât in disbelief about someone being willing to stay with him for so long, especially someone like Jaskier who could probably charm his way into the lives of anyone he pleases.
âI should be saying that to you,â Eskel admits, âI know Iâm not exactly the best partner out there.â
Jaskier genuinely looks offended. He uses his free hand to poke Eskelâs stomach and glares at him. âDonât say things like that, you are possibly the kindest and most patient person I know, not to mention the most handsome.â
Eskelâs face heats up at that and even though he knows he tries to be kind and patient, he canât help wishing he could be more, that he could be charming and fun and worthy of the poetry Jaskier keeps texting to him whenever heâs drunk.
âHey, look at me?â Jaskier asks.
Eskelâs head moves before he gives it permission but he has no regrets because Jaskier is smiling and heâs grown overly fond of that stupid smile and the way it manages to make him feel a little better every time itâs directed towards him.
âI love you,â Jaskier whispers.
Oh.
His expression must give his alarm away because Jaskier squeezes his hand again and shuffles so heâs leaning his head on Eskelâs shoulder, looking out at the ocean. âYou donât have to say it back but I couldnât possibly have gone another day without telling you. And it doesnât matter, youâre still the best.â
Jaskier falls in love with someone or something new every other day but theyâve both been hesitant to acknowledge his unwavering commitment to loving Eskel until now. Eskel exhales slowly, letting his head rest stop Jaskierâs and closing his eyes.
His first instinct is to apologise but heâs almost certain Jaskier would throw him into the ocean if he did so he settles for squeezing Jaskierâs hand and shuffling even closer, focusing on the way they fit together so well, on the way everything they do together is comfortable, on the way he doesnât feel pressured to pretend.
Heâs always been a little scared of actually finding the love he usually only hears about through everyone else in fear of somehow failing at it but Jaskier has never demanded anything he wasnât happy to give; maybe love isnât so frightening with the right people, he thinks.
.
âJaskier, whereâs my hoodie?â Eskel asks, frowning at his wardrobe.
He knows Jaskier sometimes borrows his clothes but heâs not sure how to take that since he seems to do that with literally everyone he knows, whether thatâs his bandmates, random people he meets at bars, or even Ciri on a few memorable, drunk occasions.
âWhich one?â Jaskier calls back from the kitchen where heâd gone to find popcorn because he refuses to watch a film without some.
Eskel sighs. âThe red one with the flowers.â
âRoses!â Jaskier corrects, and Eskel just knows heâs shaking his head in exasperation. âAnd I donât know!â
After a moment of frustration, Eskel shrugs on the other red hoodie and makes his way to the kitchen, groaning when he sees Jaskier wearing the not so missing hoodie. Jaskierâs eyes widen at the sound and he spins on his heel to check the microwave as if having expected it to be exploding.
âI thought you said you didnât know?â Eskel asks, raising an eyebrow.
Jaskier only frowns. âI donât?â
It takes him a minute to catch on and finally glance down at himself, at which point he bites his lip and looks up again sheepishly. âI just grabbed a random one,â he mumbles eventually.
Eskel rolls his eyes because itâs not the first time theyâve had this type of conversation and makes his way over, using his thumb to gently pull Jaskierâs lip out from under his teeth before very softly kissing him. âBlue suits you better,â he whispers.
Jaskier nods, still wide-eyed and a little breathless as he lifts his arms and loops them around Eskelâs neck. âBut red reminds me of you,â he whispers back, his gaze flickering between Eskelâs eyes and lips.
Well, there goes Eskelâs heart melting again.
The microwave beeps at them before he figures out how to reply, both of them jumping enough for their foreheads to crash together. Jaskier curses immediately, stepping back as he rubs his head and glares at the microwave as if itâd just stabbed him.
âHope the popcorn is worth the pain,â Eskel says, laughing.
Jaskier sticks his tongue out before pulling the popcorn out, pouring it into a bowl and handing said bowl to Eskel as he has the steadier hand and is far less likely to spill it all before they even sit down, which theyâd unfortunately had to learn from experience.
âDonât doubt me, darling, you are going to love this film!â Jaskier declares just as he always does - heâs only right about half the time but Eskel has to credit him for the everlasting confidence at least.
It doesnât take them long to settle, Jaskier leaning heavily on Eskel and their arms wrapped around each other, and although Eskel is about ninety percent certain he wonât like the film judging by the cover, he wouldnât dare interrupt Jaskierâs mission to broaden his cinematic horizons or whatever.
âYou are unfairly comfortable,â Jaskier mumbles, practically burrowing into his chest.
Eskel laughs, snuggling closer himself. âYou have very strange standards.â
Jaskier hums quietly, choosing popcorn over replying to the accusation just as the film finally starts with a rather clichĂŠ shot of the view from a window. He was right in thinking he wouldnât particularly like it but Jaskierâs constant commentary has both of them laughing and itâs worth the watch anyway; maybe being with someone else makes the boring things less boring, he thinks.
.
Weird how a year can feel like forever as well as no time at all.
Eskel wakes up on the morning after their first anniversary with a slow smile, taking in the way Jaskier is sprawled over him like some sort of misguided blanket.
Perhaps itâs just Jaskierâs poetic influence over the past year but he thinks itâs utterly fitting that sunlight just so happens to be falling over the two of them in a way that makes it seem as though theyâre glowing even though itâs still winter.
Itâs a good thing Jaskier sleeps like the dead when he actually manages to fall asleep for a normal human amount of time because it gives Eskel the chance to do things like bring them breakfast in bed. This one heâs been planning for a while so he doesnât waste any time gazing and quickly slips out of bed, getting himself sorted and making his way to the kitchen.
He more or less makes the pancakes with muscle memory alone because thereâs a part of him that canât help worrying. He knows Jaskier loves him, he knows that better than he knows most things, but heâs never had a relationship this long and he doesnât know the right etiquette to all of this.
âEskel?â
Cursing inwardly, he grabs the tray - complete with a plate of four pancakes, two mugs of coffee, and one small envelope - and heads back to his bedroom, pausing in the doorway. âRight here,â he smiles.
Jaskier returns the smile, then yawns before raising his eyebrows at the sight of the tray. âWe already had anniversary breakfast yesterday?â
âAre you saying you donât want the pancakes?â Eskel asks, smirking when Jaskier sits up with a grin that makes his answer perfectly clear. âThought so.â
âMhm, youâre the best boyfriend in the galaxy,â Jaskier says as Eskel places the tray at the foot of the bed and settles beside him.
Eskel is more than aware his face has probably gone embarrassingly red but for once, Jaskier doesnât point it out, instead getting distracted by and picking up the little envelope with a frown. âWhatâs this?â
Deep breath.
âCan I open it now?â Jaskier asks, thankfully able to guess that Eskelâs throat has gone a little too dry for him to explain.
When he nods, Jaskier offers him a smile and rips one side open, gasping when he sees whatâs inside: a key. Or more specifically, a replica of Eskelâs house key.
âI love you,â Eskel says honestly.
Itâd taken him a while to get things sorted in his head - not to mention several awkward conversations with his family and friends - but at this point, heâs absolutely certain he loves Jaskier and nothing can make him question his heart in the slightest.
Jaskier sniffles and throws his arms around Eskel before he can apologise for making him cry. And Eskel laughs, holding his boyfriend whom he truly genuinely loves because he is capable of that after all close until theyâre both satisfied theyâre not going to actually burst into tears or anything.
âI love you back, of course,â Jaskier says as he pulls back, rubbing his eyes.
Eskel grins, ignoring the way it almost physically hurts his face, and only grins further when Jaskier kisses him despite both of them being a little too smiley for it to really work.
âI canât believe you made me cry before pancakes,â Jaskier grumbles eventually, elbowing him, but heâs still half-grinning and thereâs a lot of mixed signals.
Laughing, Eskel brushes his thumbs under Jaskierâs eyes. âThe pancakes arenât going anywhere.â
Jaskier hums in acknowledgement and twirls the key between his fingers for a long moment, apparently thinking something over. âYou are aware this means youâre never going to get a moment of peace again, right?â he asks.
âIâm willing to take that risk,â Eskel replies even though heâs never felt more at peace than when heâs with Jaskier.
âOn your head be it, darling,â Jaskier laughs, shuffling so he can curl into Eskelâs arms again, âI love you so much.â
Eskelâs reply is swallowed by the lump in his throat but itâs okay because Jaskier knows and he knows Jaskier knows and thatâs more than enough. Their breakfast will probably go cold before they get round to it but neither of them will mind because everything else is just so perfect; maybe love is just being patient with the differences, Eskel thinks.

PART 1 - PART 2 - PART 3 - PART 4
The little church rested against the grassy Tuscania countryside. It was a rustic little building, made of old bricks and holding a wooden crucifix over the roof. Its staircase had a white satin stair runner over top and the sides were adorned with wildflowers and lit candles, despite the sun being high in the blue sky. There was even an arch of greenery which framed the churchâs big wooden door.
It set the theme for a beautiful August wedding.
Lumaca could just barely see it from the car window and through her veil. The sight of it made her heart race. She mightâve even fainted, had not a hand reached over to touch her shoulder and to bring her back down.
Her eyes darted from the window to Sorbet.
âAre you okay?â Sorbet asked.
âYeah, are you?â Gelato piped up from his place next to Sorbet, his hand reaching around to pat her lap. âYouâre looking a little pale. Do you need anything?â
âIâm fine, thank you,â Lumaca softly replied. âItâs just my nerves...â
âHey,â Formaggio said from the passengerâs seat. âIf it makes you feel any better, just thought Iâd let you know that I attended a bee wedding about a week ago.â
âOh, is that so?â Gelato responded for her.
Yup!â he continued. âIt was nice to know that he found his honey.â
Formaggio and Gelato both laughed at the corny joke and Lumaca simply smiled, taking joy from their laughter. However, Prosciutto, who had been driving for the past fifteen minutes with a bouquet of white roses in his lap, couldnât do likewise.
âCome on,â he muttered. âThat was bad.â
âHey now,â Formaggio defended himself. âThose two are digging it. Besides, when you got charms like mine, you donât have to be that good with the words. Itâs all about how you deliver it, you know?â
âHey, look!â Gelato suddenly piped up with his finger pointed towards the window. âThereâs Pesci. How long has the boy been waiting out there for?â
âI hope not for long,â Lumaca commented, a pang of guilt in her voice.
âAh donât worry about him, my dear.â Gelato patted her lap. âHeâs always been so patient.â
After parking the car near the side of the chapel, where other vehicles sat in the afternoon sun, Prosciutto took hold of the bouquet and went to help Lumaca out of the car. Everyone else was quick to follow the pair, with Sorbet and Gelato close behind and Formaggio at the end of the little procession.
Pesci looked up from his seat on the stairs and his eyes lit up the minute he saw them approaching him. He jumped up and rushed to meet them, leaving his basket on the step. Lumaca wouldâve met him halfway, if not for the fact that her arm was linked to Prosciuttoâs. So instead, she reached her free hand out to grab hold of his.
âLumaca!â he beamed, holding her hand in both of his. âI knew youâd be here on time! I was starting to get a little worried.â
âPesci, you mammone,â Prosciutto grunted before Lumaca could say anything. âYou shouldnât have been worried. I wouldnât have let her miss her own wedding day, would I?â
âAh.â Pesci looked down. âSorry, aniki.â
Lumaca watched as Pesciâs nerves dimmed his excitement. Feeling sorry for him, she shook his hands to grab his attention.
âItâs okay, Pesci!â she assured him. âI appreciate how much you care.â
He gave her a soft smile as some of the light returned to his face.
âThank you Lumaca... You look really beautiful, by the way. Youâre going to make everyoneâs jaw drop.â
âYou think so?â she blushed.
âI know so!â His grip on her hand went a little tighter. âEspecially Ghiaccioâs jaw. Oh, heâs going to be so happy to see you!â
âWell, I hope he doesnât mind seeing a couple extra pretty faces come down the aisle first,â Formaggio piped up with a grin, already walking ahead of the group to the chapel doors. âAt any rate, we better go take our places, right Gelato?â
âRight behind you,â Gelato replied, practically skipping along behind him.
âŚ
The chapel was as small on the inside as it was on the outside. It was lit by the afternoon sunlight pouring in through the windows, giving everything a gentle glow to it. Much like the staircase, the sides of the mahogany pews that faced the altar had also been decorated with wildflowers.
Attendees sitting in the pews consisted of a small crowd of people, including other members of their team and some friends of the bride. All of their voices resonated throughout the room, mingling softly with conversations from amongst themselves and even from the groomsmen.
The groom, however, was silent.
Ghiaccio had taken to thinking of Lumaca as a way to keep himself distracted from the nerves that drenched his forehead in sweat.
Memories flooded his head, giving his chest a warm, tingling feeling. He remembered everything, from the day they met and their first mission to their first date and their first kiss. The day they decided to move in together and those happy little moments between then and the evening he proposed.
That look in her eyes as she agreed to give him her hand in marriage⌠So sweetâŚ
Thump!
Ghiaccio was startled out of his thoughts by the sound of the wooden doors opening. His head jolted up and his eyes went wide behind his glasses. The room fell silent and everyone turned their heads to look at the big wooden doors.
The bridesmen walked in.
Formaggio strolled down between the pews, a serious look clouding his eyes as he focused on the task at hand. Gelato followed behind, regarding everyone he passed with the same curiosity of a cat. They quietly took their places at the brideâs side of the altar, approximately in the same sort of placement the groomsmen had taken.
Ghiaccioâs hand went up to feel his heart rate. It went down, but not by much.
âFuckâŚâ he muttered to himself whilst pushing his glasses closer to his face
âGhiaccio,â a voice whispered behind him.
He turned around to see Melone, who had just reached out with his free hand to give him a pat on the back. His other hand held a small pillow, upon which rested a small, silver ring with a sapphire embedded into it.
Lumacaâs ring.
âRemember, weâre here to make sure everythingâs alright,â he continued. âTry to relax, okay?â
Ghiaccio gave a quiet hum in response before turning back to resume his thoughts. Only, he found it was getting harder to concentrate, as the thought of her walking in and down the aisle towards him clouded his mind.
That thought made him gently whimper to himself.
âŚ
âYou have what I need?â Sorbet asked, his eyes focusing on Pesci and his hands carefully adjusting Lumacaâs veil.
âOh, of course! Hang on a second,â Pesci assured as he made his way back to the chapelâs staircase.
He took hold of his basket and gently fished his hands through the rose petals. As soon as he felt the two items that Sorbet needed graze his fingertips, his face lit up. Carefully, he pulled out a small pillow and an even smaller sack from the pile of petals.
âYou didnât have anything else to carry those things in?â Prosciutto inquired as he made adjustments to the brideâs bouquet in his hands.
Pesci met his furrowed look with a sheepish grin.
He stood straight up and walked back to the three remaining members of the bride team, bringing the pillow and the sack with him.
âNot really, no,â he gulped. âI uhm⌠Had to make do with what I had.â
Sorbet held out his hand and Pesci placed the pillow overtop before prying open the sack with his fingers. Within a few seconds, he had a silver ring with a small ruby embedded into it placed on top of the pillow.
Ghiaccioâs ring.
âHmm,â Prosciutto sighed. âI suppose you didnât have much of a choice then. Iâm proud of you for making do with that you had⌠All I ask is that you be careful of the petals next time. We donât need them to be crushed.â
âOkay, aniki; Iâll remember that!â Pesci smiled, too polite to tell him that Melone had already said something similar.
âThank you so much, Pesci,â Lumaca muttered happily, the sight of the piece of silver and the thought of it on her husband-to-beâs left hand making her giddy. âIn fact, thank you guys for your help.â
âWe appreciate the thought,â Sorbet told her. âBut donât thank us just yet. Save it for the reception.â
Just then, the pastor poked his head out from between the doors and called for Sorbet to come inside. After giving him a nod and watching him slip back inside, he strutted towards the big wooden doors with the pillow balanced in his palm. He glanced towards Lumaca and gave her a nod that she gladly returned. With that, he pushed the doors open with his free hand and made his way inside.
As soon as the doors closed with a low thump!, Pesci looked towards Prosciutto.
âAniki,â he asked. âAm I supposed to follow behind him with the flower petals right now?â
âGive him a couple of minutes first,â Prosciutto instructed him. âYouâre going to be ahead of us by about a minute so you can scatter the petals around, then youâll take your place on the groomâs side of the altar.â
âOkay, I can do thatâŚâ Pesci hummed as a thought crossed his mind. âYou sure do know a lot about being a flower boy, huh?â
âI had to be one for our motherâs wedding,â Prosciutto admitted. âThis was before you were born, of course, but I remember it well.â
âIt mustâve been lovely,â Lumaca smiled warmly.
Prosciutto smiled back at her.
âIt was,â he started to reminisce. âIt had been the happiest I had seen her in a long time. A type of joy I can see all around you, in fact.â
She blushed quietly.
âAh, itâs⌠Itâs that noticeable?â
âIt is.â Prosciutto agreed. âAnd itâs a good sign. It means that this is the start of a long, happy marriage.â
She bit her lip, trying her best not to start sobbing right then and there.
âThank youâŚâ
The brothers wrapped their arms around her in a group hug. She immediately had her arms around them as well.
âYou two will go far,â Prosciutto whispered. âI know you will.â
After spending a long, quiet moment in the embrace, the trio pulled themselves away from each other and Pesci made his way towards the chapel stairs.
He took hold of the handle of his basket.
âIâll see you both soon!â Pesci beamed at the pair before disappearing behind the doors.

WILL HALSTEAD
Right Feelings But Wrong Matchmaking
Requested: yes
Prompts: none
Warnings: Failed attempt at matchmaking eek đŹ
Authors note: /
"So you're telling me they're still together?" You ask Doris.
Not even 3 hours into the morning shift and Doris already has you in her claws, ready to deliver to you the hottest tea.
"Yes and no." Doris the gossiper nurse says and takes note of your furrowed eyebrows. Sighing she joins you at the front desk to explain in detail. "Because you're new here it might be hard to read their secret looks of longing. But don't worry I'll save you the trouble. Will and Natalie are definitely still into each other. They just need a light push because they're going through a rocky patch. Which is totally normal."
You pretend to understand her bomb of words and nod enthusiastically, hoping that she doesn't catch on. Catch on what?
Your disappointment.
You could've sworn that Will had a thing for you. Thanks to Maggie the two of you have been sharing most of yours patients which simply equals spending more time together and getting to know each other.
Dr. Halstead was also the first person to greet you and show you around the mighty Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.
When you asked Will about him and Natalie he shrugged you off and told you not to worry about it. Then after that he continued to flirt with you and hang around you more than a normal colleague would.
Thanks to Doris you now, unfortunately, knew that the handsome doctor was off the market.
And thanks to your will to make good friends here, you didn't want to miss on the opportunity to help the duo reconnect. Doing that might even get you a new girl friend. Natalie seemed like a very sweet person after all.
***
"Doctor Halstead, doctor Y/LN trauma 3." Maggie paired the two of you up just like she always did.
"How bad is it?" You ask her as you walk towards the trauma room.
"A piece of cake." She simply replies.
"Then why send us both?" Will pipes in. It's not like he minded working with you... In fact, every time someone arrived he hoped for Maggie to pair you two up.
You were so amazing to him to the point you completely consumed his mind. And he liked the feeling of you invading his mind. Will didn't experience it for a while.
The nurse in charge sent you a smirk you definitely understood. The conversation with Doris flew into your mind and you called after her without thinking twice.
"Maggie wait!"
Confused about your call, Maggie walks back to you. "Could you pair me up with someone else? Please?"
"I thought you liked working with Will?" She asks confused.
"Yeah... I'm not bad company. Am I?" Will joins.
"You're not... I just... I don't wanna get in between you!" There! You said it. It's out of your hands now.
"In between who?" Maggie asks. She's very interested in the love triangles around the ED.
Shyly you look towards Natalie who's talking to April by the computers. Will and Maggie follow your lead.
"And that's my que to go." Maggie says but before she leaves she turns to you. "Who told you that?"
"Wha-" Before you can protect the secret identity of Doris you notice the look in Maggie's eyes. "Doris."
"Well that explains a lot of things." Maggie mumbles whilst shaking her head. She leans in and whispers something into Will's ear. It makes his smile reach his ears. "I'll leave you to two to talk. Doctor Rhodes you're on trauma today so you listen to me! Now, do me a favour and check on the patient in trauma 3!"
And just like that your patient is snatched from your grasp, curtesy of yours truly. You notice the small wink and smirk Maggie sends your way before she shashays away from you.
"I-" You're lost for words once again. Not because of shock but because of embarrassment. You just tried to play matchmaker and failed terribly.
Your blood travels all the way to your cheeks at the thought. Things with you and Will are 100% screwed right now.
Or so you thought.
"Come." William's voice brings you out of your trans and his extended hand puts you back in it.
"Uh..."
"Y/N you seem so loss for words today." He chuckles before taking the matters into his own hands. He leans in and grabs your hands before waltzing out of the ED and into the Chicago air with you in tow.
You let him drag you around until you've reached the food truck you always visit when on a break.
"Will we're not on a break." You try to fight him but he doesn't budge. Instead he orders the food, completely confident in his choice.
"Will how did you-" You ask him. He just ordered what you've been ordering since you started to work at Med.
"I don't get how you believed what Doris told you but at the same time I do," He ushures you to the side while you wait for your order to finish. "You're new and you didn't know that whatever Doris says is usually a bunch of crap. But also things with me and Natalie might seem fresh but they aren't, trust me."
You stuff your hands into your front pockets and listen to his words carefully. "Natalie and I are in the past. I don't want you to think that I've been unfaithful to her by spending time with you."
It did cross your mind. You decide to keep that detail to yourself for the time being.
"I like you Y/N." He confesses. "The more time I spend with you the more sure I am in my feelings...You're beautiful, smart and kind. And I think you're amazing because of that?"
"You're really serious about this?"
"I wouldn't be sneaking out with you during work hours if I wasn't."
Not knowing what to do with this sudden burst of joy and relief you decide to do what you do best. Give hugs.
Just like a high school girl whose crush just confessed to her, you swing your arms around Will's neck and pull him in a tight embrace.
All while thanking the starts for his and Natalie's departure as a couple. Whoops.
Once you pull away he asks you, "What do you say I give you a grand tour of Chicago? Tonight?"
"Yeah I'd like that. I'd like that very much Will."
