Theory about Nika. So I was confused by what exactly the relation between Joyboy and Nika was, but I think I figured it out! I think Nika is what the prisoners unknowingly called Joyboy! As we know the Human-Hyman Fruit model Nika is a mythical Zoan which means Nika doesn’t exist like a dragon or a phoenix. So basically, the prisoners of Impel Down saw or got some word of Joyboy and naturally assumed he was a god, so they made up stories about Nika causing the fruit to exist.

With the rise of technology, isn't it time for the wizards at Hogwarts and the other schools to catch up?
In many senses, the various magic users in the Kverse have us beat; the Masters can open portals to almost anywhere in the world, demigods can communicate with almost anyone by simply beseeching the goddess Iris, Magicians can use the Duat to store items like it's a videogame inventory, etc. Of course, they all have their drawbacks, too, some of which could be compensated for by tech.
Personally, I don't think it's a matter of catching up. Different people have different ways of going about their daily life, and advanced technology isn't always the solution to life's problems - or at least not the only one. Still, I'm sure you'll see some magical characters compare notes with tech-savvy characters down the line.

>Join a union
>Hear people constantly complaining that the current union leadership is super corrupt, it's all just the same ten guys making all the decisions in secret and nobody else in the union ever gets to know what's going on
>Go to the monthly union meetings that are completely open to all 1200 union members
>The only attendees are the same ten guys every month, giving detailed reports about everything that's going on

i have such a love for characters who descend into madness or villainy out of deep, deep empathy. characters who fundamentally cannot cope with the cruel realities they find themselves in and blow up about it in spectacular fashion. fallen angel type characters with tears of outrage in their eyes. characters who break before they bend, and break so badly they splatter blood all over their noble ideals. every variation on it gets me so good

She got detained only the one time (for the bus thing, specifically. She absolutely got arrested later on for organizing the bus boycotts), but she wasn't the only person to get detained for protesting on the bus. Claudette Colvin, arguably her protege, was arrested for the same offense some months before she did, and she (along with Aurelia Browder, Mary Louise Smith and Susie McDonald, who also got arrested for the same offense) was a plaintiff in the case that actually led to the repeal of the bus laws, Browder v. Gayle.
America simplifies the history here for children, white folk and white children, but I gotta underline that Parks was a key actor in a large and elaborate campaign to desegregate the buses. An actor specifically chosen because she was a light-skinned respectable black woman in her 40s and white America would have a harder time writing off her act of protest; someone that, like, MLK, white America thinks it can round off the sharp edges off of. You gotta remember that she was sharper than you realize, and that there were a host of blades behind her.
(Also remember Claudette Colvin specifically. She was a dark-skinned pregnant teen when she was arrested and that led to her role in the repeal of the segregation laws getting pushed under the rug. Remember the most vulnerable who still shout to the highest in the face of injustice and all that shit)

"Do not in under circumstances challenge an Earthling engineer to do something. Not even for a dare," said the leader of the space engineering team and looked each one of them in their eyes (or eye, in some cases).
They all looked at each other, some with curiosity, some with plain confusion and some with slight fear in their gazes.
One alien raised their hand.
"I was not finished," said the leader before the alien could ask their question.
The hand slowly lowered again.
The leader turned towards the group of Earthling engineers that were on the other side of the room and pointed in their direction.
No, in the direction of one human in particular.
Relatively small, fragile looking with their short, curly hair and big eyes. A pair of glasses were resting on the bridge of their nose, ready to slip down any moment (not that the Earthling seemed to notice it). They were on their own and were hunched over their iPad, working on something.
The leader spoke with a low and serious voice: "Especially not Bob."
Now the whole group of aliens looked confused.
They looked back and forth between their leader and the Earthling a few times, not believing that this Earthling could do something so bad, that their leader deemed it necessary to warn them.
Now a few more hands rose in the air.
The leader sighed and pitched the bridge of their nose. "Yes?"
"What did the Earthling do?"
"Something I swore to never talk about again. Let's just say, you should be happy that we're on a working space ship."
"Come on, it was an accident!"
The whole group of Aliens jumped and turned towards the new voice.
The Earthling in question stood before the small group, arms crossed over their chest and a pout on their lips as they glared at the leader.
If they tried to look angry or intimidating, they failed alone on the fact that they had to tilt their head up, because the leader (and the rest of the group) was by far taller than them.
How did the Earthling get to them so quickly and so quietly?
The group took a step back, as the Earthling began to smile.
It didn't necessarily look creepy in any way, but it wasn't reassuring to see it after they were spooked so badly just mere seconds ago.
"Also, at least I won the bet!", the Earthling grinned.
After a few seconds of silence, they turned and walked back towards their desk to continue their work.
The Aliens looked at each other.
They all had the same thought in their head.
No one messes with Bob.
“Do not in under circumstances challenge an Earthling engineer to do something. Not even for a dare.”
