Building off of the whole metaphor idea, Morgana's character arc is basically that she starts to question her identity because she's having all of these dreams and thoughts that she doesn't understand. Then Gaius, who is straight up a conversion therapist, literally gaslights her and is like, 'no no, you're just going crazy, you're overreacting, here, why don't you take all of these drugs to suppress those thoughts?'

Meanwhile, Uther is saying all of this stuff about how sorcerers are all evil and should be killed, and Morgana will try to argue with him and he will just be like, 'well, why do you care so much?' And she's all, 'oh, no reason. I'm just an ally. I'm just really passionate about social justice.' Like, girl, we've all been there.

And then once Morgana does come to terms with her identity and she realises how fucked up the way that she was treated is, she goes batshit and starts a revolution and assassinates her dad. And good for her! I honestly think that all repressed lesbians deserve a little bit of murder, it's only fair, especially if they look so hot doing it.

Also, Morgana doesn't have any male love interests. I mean, she will sometimes flirt with men to manipulate them into doing what she wants, but it's very clear that that is what she is doing, she never actually cares about them or follows through.

Besides, Katie McGrath has never played a heterosexual in her life. She's basically straight up said that she played Morgana as a lesbian. You know where she said that? Here:

Are they technically half-sisters? Yes. But omg the sexual tension between these two is undeniable. You really do think that they're just going to kiss at any given moment. This has been straight up confirmed. This is a quote from the same conversation as earlier between the main producer and Katie McGrath, where they fully admit that there are definitely lesbian undertones there, and not only did both actresses play it that way, but it was written that way. So I rest my case.

Gwen knew about Morgana's prophetic visions from the start and she was never scared of it or tried to deny that it was magic. Instead, she was always by Morgana's bedside (or in her bed) so she could hold her face and stroke her hair and tell her she would be okay. Gayasses.

Although, as Iori Miyazawa can attest, yuri is often best found in the absence of it. Because once Morgana accepts her identity and her magic becomes an unavoidable part of of her life rather than thoughts she could repress, she begins to push Gwen away, often in the form of telling her not to undress her anymore.

Then this tension between them is emphasised when Morgana starts having nightmares of Gwen marrying Arthur and is really upset by it for some reason. I know that she justifies it by saying that she doesn't want Gwen to take her place as queen, but if you think about that for more than 5 seconds, it makes absolutely no sense. Arthur is still going to be king regardless of who he marries, so unless Morgana is planning to follow the legend a bit too closely and marry her brother, then Gwen is absolutely not taking her place.

And yet Morgana spends the entire rest of the show obsessing over Gwen, including: planting false evidence to break up Gwen and Arthur, using necroLancey as a puppet to seduce her, kidnapping Gwen only to tenderly caress her face and force her to have dinner with her, and then of course enchanting Gwen to kill Arthur so that Morgana can be queen, and Gwen will seemingly also still be queen. And they will be two queens, together, platonically. Hmmm

SECONDLY WHAT A GOOD QUESTION. I feel like I'm going to do a mix of both what I would like to see her in and also what I feel like (from the little of what I understand) her genre preferences are:

PROJECT NUMBER ONE: You know initially I was going to say "Some sort of dark fantasy and/or period piece" but then I remembered that I can just fulfill all of our wildest dreams and do a mini-series (because fuck multiple movies this is a pro "the importance of letting stories breathe" blog) of The Priory of the Orange Tree and casting her as Sabran. She's the right age, the perfect look AND all of our favorite things of looking gay and stern in a period/fantasy dress!!! (I'd have to think more on the rest of the cast but I'm up to the challenge and would devote a substantial amount of the budget to costume design)

PROJECT NUMBER TWO: A contemporary paranormal/supernatural thriller maybe a la Midnight Mass or Bly Manor or maybe Crimson Peak? (haven't actually seen any of these cause I'm a weenie but that's the kind of vibes I want) and make her a vampire. Or a ghost actually I think that could be a lot of fun. If we're going Midnight Mass/Mike Flanagan then Rahul Kohli's there because I want to see what sort of chemistry they can actually work with that's not 12 minutes on a CW show. I want it to hurt and I want her to have fun running around screaming maybe! Or biting people! Or both!!

That has crossed my mind as well. Like, before I started on the first chapter I was contemplating having MC not be human because I was like "What makes her special? Why would the Denalis fall head over heels for her? How does one manage to charm an entire family of vampires?"

It was certainly tempting because I´m absolutely digging that concept of the Denalis being all smug and cocky, believing MC to be yet another mouse they can play with before going in for the final blow. Only for MC to...play along. Play the part of the innocent, because her appearance wouldn´t lead anyone to believe otherwise. To the public eye, she´s just an ordinary woman. A mortal.

The Denalis entertain her, so she´s willing to see where this goes.

I ultimately decided against it because it just didn´t fit with what I had in mind. I´m a sucker for Beauty & The Beast type of stuff. I love all your Merlin thoughts, especially your point about Merlin being a seer! I can even imagine Merlin and Morgana being opposites, where Merlin has visions of Arthur and Camelot's eventual greatness, which makes him protective and invested in Camelot. Whereas Morgana has visions of the past, Uther's reign, and becomes jaded by Camelot's bloody history, deciding to burn it to the ground instead. I didn't mind Morganna as a villain, though the "radical activist who is ideologically in the right but goes Too Far with it" is such a tired trope. But Katie McGrath played her unhinged villain era beautifully. I almost wouldn't want Gaius to die (right away); I want Merlin to eventually confront him, his treatment of Morgana, his betrayal of his peers. It'd be such a huge moment for Merlin to break away from the prophecy and Gaius's protective but stifling and harmful rhetoric, to go back to his first instinct to connect, help, and empathize with people, especially magic users. The Edwin episode made me double take on a rewatch like all he was going to do was kill Uther and do a better job than Gaius as Court Physician like sorry is that supposed to put me off lol? Sure he comatized Morgana but only for like a day. Also hot take and I myself have a fondness for merthur but tbh! Arthur was not the king he needed to be, the show frequently backtracked on any emotional growth he was afforded, and he stayed kind of annoying until the end. That's just my personal opinion. I'm glad multiple characters became obsessed with Gwen, like I understand why, I wish she had known about Merlin's magic early because they would be such fun undercover magic besties. And Gwen/Lance was my first OTP (...next to Gwen/Merlin), I think it'd be fun if both she and Lancelot knew about Merlin's magic as Merlin's inner circle. Also, I agree the magic reveal was way too late. It makes zero sense that it didn't happen earlier, like there were opportunities that make Merlin seem anti-magic to downright deranged not to take. At one point, Arthur goes to kill Uther for all the right reasons, with full knowledge of his crimes...and Merlin stops him by lying and justifying the massacres? Hello? It was jarring the way Merlin cries afterwards like he's so shattered that he had to do that and it's like, but you really didn't. But it comes across as really so fucked up how warped and self-hating Merlin is in later seasons, like Gaius has molded him to be so ashamed and terrified to the point he's willing to allow mass violence against people just like him, and support the people committing it, to the point where he's actually occasionally sabotaging political change! Gaius should have been shamed, abandoned, had a brief redemption arc that culminated in him finally dying for his crimes/to save someone else. Uther should have died knowing Morgana killed him on purpose.

You're so right in that the magic reveal should have happened waaaayyyy earlier. In my planned fic, Merlin's magic gets revealed to Arthur incredibly early on, and even THEN he's still the last out of the main 4 (Merlin, Morgana, Gwen, Arthur) to know, because it just makes more SENSE for them to know!!

Maybe more androgynous cuts with more feminine fabrics,and vice versa. Her body is a weapon, and not just with karate. She knows that people will be judging her based on her appearance. She knows it's bullshit, but she also knows that it's easier to play the game and win than to change it.

She knows she's attractive. She knows that men look at her. She likes to show off her body, but also remind them they can't ever have it.

She's rarely full glam, usually more business chic. But she still has her hair and make up on point at all times.

I find a lot of what Katie McGrath wears as Lena Luthor to fit well.

When she's alone with Dani, or maybe Margaret, she's more likely to wear comfortable, sensible clothes. Of course, even those are high quality. She's the type of person who spends a stupid amount of money on a basic t-shirt because it's from a certain brand.

Dani is considered more tomboyish. But she's not against femininity, she just never got used to dressing up or anything like that. She likes to be comfortable. But when the time comes, she also wants to feel cute.

She's unlikely to go full glam. She likes things that are both pretty and soft like her. That's why she likes shorts. They're convenient and comfortable, more practical than skirts, but she knows they show off her legs.

When she wears dresses they're usually fun, flirty and casual sun dresses, or she's draped in silk that hangs off her frame delicately. She doesn't really have an eye for patterns or fabrics, she just likes whatever feels best against her skin.

She definitely had some mismatched fashion disasters when she was still shopping second hand.
