How does MHA make you care so much about so many different characters. How is it that for such a large cast there are so few actual extras. How.

Why Tapeman is an awesome guy and a great hero
Class 1A-kids: "Sero is an obviously great influence on Todoroki and has a free pass to sass him for the rest of their lives."
I agree.
Seroroki is one of the more popular background friendships in 1-A, as it's heartwarming to see socially stunted Todoroki making friends.
However, it should also be popular, because their friendship is proof of what a cool guy Sero is:
Your standoffish, rudish classmate encased you in hundreds of meters of ice, just to unload anger, that had nothing to do with you.
In a world where impressing the crowd is almost essential if you want to make it as a hero, this turns you into a tagline, that will follow you.
You hold absolutely no grudge, you even befriend the guy = You heart is huge and open.
You also make it your duty to tape up the class pervert, in order to keep him from sexually harassing others = Your head is screwed on right.
...
Sero's skills don't fall into the same category of huge offensive fire power houses, like the New B3 have. But he's just as versatile as Asui, who is often held up as a great example.
My favourite examples of Sero's versatility are his team-ups with Uraraka: The two of them working together with Deku during the license exam, and then with Mineta during Movie 2, was really entertaining to watch.
One of my favourite music moments: "All Might with U. A. students" playing in 3x17. The notes were timed perfectly with Sero zooming across and Uraraka following up.
During the joint training with 1-B, praise was heaped upon Bakugou for doing the absolute minimum for team work to be possible.
Sero demonstrated quick and shrewd thinking. He should have deserved some of that praise for his observational and tactical skills.
Sero’s a great asset to have almost in any kind of team, or in any kind of environment. And definitely in any friend group.
Tapeman: Always ready to catch you!

1. Hi! Long time no see. Need help with finding two fics:
A. The AU where wwx and lwj can do some cultivation technique that combines them into one huge cultivator. There are like three or four levels and lwj is hesitant about the last level because the other person can see what you desire most in the world and he was afraid for wwx to see. I recall them practicing this technique in private while studying together and then doing it in front of lqr’s class.
B. Lxc has his own pediatric office and his nurse is on leave because she’s pregnant (i think it’s mianmian or wq) and they recommend wwx. Wwx is hired as a nurse under lxc. During the story, he gets with lwj and they all find out wwx took the blame and went to jail for something jc did and lxc was upset because of how wwx portrayed himself to him when he was really innocent. I remember wwx had some heart problem and had an episode in the office. I remember xue yang was also in this fic as an abuser to his wife and kid
Thanks for all your help in advance! @jikcf

4. Hello! In search of a fic I read recently but can't seem to find again! It was definitely on ao3. It was a canon-era fic where for some reason Wangji was cranky with Xichen and so Wangji purposefully misbrewed some of Xichen's favorite tea and gave him the stank eye while he poured. I think it was in Cloud Recesses Study arc, so it was teenJi being sassy in his polite snubbing kind of way.

5. Hi, hope your well! Im desperately trying to find a fic. So I vaguely remember it starting with lwj and wwx post cannon, wwx passes away, and he makes a ritual/ way for lan wangji to go to an alternate universe where he’s still alive. Lan wangji wakes up in the body of his younger self (it’s implied the original version died because he was trained too hard I think) his father is still alive and is abusive. I remember Wei wuxian and lan wangji meet because they go to visit the Yiling Wei sect. Eventually lan wangji volunteers to go to what I think was their equivalent of the lan lectures which no longer exist in this universe because the lan are kinda sorta evil ish under his abusive father’s rule. I remember that eventually they plan to fight back against the lans and lan wangji ends up getting captured by his father and whipped/tortured. It has a happy ending where lwj tells Wei ying about his original time line etc. I have been trying to find this one forever! Please help me! @808bisexualbitch

6. Hi! For ficfinder I'm looking for a fic which is a genderbend modern au where Wei Ying is dared to give Lan Zhan a lapdance. Halfway through he feels really bad as she realises that Lan Zhan is the butt of the joke and she stops and later tries to apologise and befriend Lan Zhan

7. For the next fic finder - I've been desperately trying to relocate a fic where everyone (including the juniors) all sort of think WangXian are in an abusive relationship. It's set post canon. I believe its left ambiguous or is implied that everyone is just sort of misinterpreting what's going on. One scene in particular I think has Lan Jingyi spying on WX while they're having sex in the jingshi? TIA 💕

I remember some details that madam yu is slightly nicer towards this time traveler wei, and how wei ying jiang cheng and jiang yanli all like him as a big brother. 12. Reddit has directed me to you oh great ones 🧎♀️. Essentially, I read a time travel fic a while ago that was amazing and after scouring tags and even my history (I’ve only been bookmarking for a month like a dummy) I haven’t found it. The fic is wwx getting dumped back into his body in the lectures arch immediately after dying. He has some insane PTSD (like genuinely doesn’t want to live anymore but also feels guilty about how he ruined things the first time) and I distinctly remember him throwing up meat of all kinds and the Jiang siblings not understanding but LWJ just rolls with it from what I remember. The final piece which I’m only 90% sure was part of this fic is the plot twist. After everything’s said and done we find out NHS and NMJ are the culprits behind the time travel bc NHS had them both tattooed with WWXs time travel talismans that he made in his first life and he was terrified of losing his brother (pretty positive he had figured out JGY was poisoning him)
Anywhosies, thank you in advance if you are able to find this masterpiece. @xxxnpcxxx

13. hello! i’m looking for a post first-siege fic but i don’t remember too much about it. it’s set after LWJ is injured with his 33 lashes, and WWX sneaks(?)/deliriously stumbles into the jingshi after news of his death has already permeated the jianghu (i’m pretty sure). LWJ is woken up by WWX(?) or wakes up to WWX kinda slumped beside him. some feels are definitely had between them but i don’t remember the details.
LXC discovers WWX embarrassingly quickly, and in this fic i’m pretty sure this LXC leans on the “WWX was your only mistake” kind of LXC, but ultimately doesn’t care that he’s in CR for the sake of LWJ—like he’s incredibly wary of WWX and his intentions but throughout the fic you can see LXC realizing he’s more than just the yiling patriarch or the man who broke his brother’s heart.
now there are two scenes i remember from this fic, but i’m not sure which one goes first, and for all i know i might be mistaking two different fics lol. but i distinctly remember WWX coming down with a severe illness. like LWJ and LXC come back to the jingshi at some point and discover that something is really wrong with him, and i think him being sick leads to a golden core reveal? not sure tho.
the scene that i remember that is definitely part of the fic i’m looking for is when LWJ and LXC (i think maybe for a medical check up for LWJ?) leave the jingshi for some reason, and WWX just chills for a little bit. after a while a servant comes into the jingshi to clean some things up, and WWX has to scramble to find a hiding place because no one else in the lan sect is supposed to know he’s there. he ends up hiding behind the far side of LWJ’s bed(?) OR behind a privacy screen(?), and he just sits there, cramped and uncomfortable for who knows how long, before LWJ comes back.
LWJ doesn’t see him at first and you can tell that he’s afraid WWX left, but WWX calls out for him and LWJ discovers his hiding spot, where i’m pretty sure WWX is cultivating some nasty illness.
i just realized i don’t know where a-yuan fits in here since WWX is still alive—i THINK lxc goes to save him himself, if WWX doesn’t already have him. please disregard this if this muddles up your search 🙏 i think paragraphs 1, 2, and 4 are the most accurate to what i’m looking for. sorry if this is too long 😭 and thank you for your hard work!!! @shenguangjun
FOUND? Unbreakable Heaven, Luminous Earth by carolyncaves (M, 96k, WangXian, Canon Divergence, Secret Identity, almost to the point of uncomfortable identity theft, Sharing a Bed, Literal Sleeping Together, Mutual Pining, Getting Together, Suicidal Thoughts, that's for WWX after Nightless City and is not pervasive throughout the fic, Blood and Injury, Hurt/Comfort, Caretaking, Sexual Content, Domestic Fluff, Angst with a Happy Ending, Power Imbalance, mainly between WWX and JGY in an entirely nonsexual manner, this isn't really a kid fic but the kids are there, as are some yunmeng sibling feelings, JYL lives, Not Everyone Dies, some COVID parallels, this is not a quarantine fic, but thematically WWX deals w things like face-covering for safety and loss of control, also assume all canon warnings, this AU is gentler than canon but isn't a complete fix-it) this fic has a similar scene at the beginning, with WWX hiding from the servants?
FOUND? i woke on wasted bones by orphan_account (E, 9k, WangXian, Canon Divergence, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Sentient Burial Mounds, Cloud Recesses, Golden Core Reveal, Healing, Serious Injuries, Sharing a Bed, First Kiss, First Time, drama and novel canon mashup, Getting Togethe,r Angst with a Happy Ending, Additional Warnings In Author's Note, With Art by JoshuaBeeking) is probably not "i woke on wasted bones" unless the asker is mixing two fics; it does fit some of the description, though, so I'll suggest it just in case

15. I’m looking for a fic where Wei Ying gets mad at Lan Zhan. The fic starts off when Lan Zhan has sex with Wei Ying and Wei Ying decides to run away. Wei Ying puts on Lan Zhan’s robes and runs around Cloud Recesses in the middle of the night. What ending would you have liked for the League villains in BNHA?
Well, there's two answers to this question. What would be my ideal ending to the League of Villains requires major story structure changes. To the point where it almost becomes an entirely different story,v venturing into fanfiction territory.
Basically keeping the story as it is until My Villain Academia, there's no longer a clear and distinct line between Hero and Villain. Shigaraki is now the real deuteragonist of the story, and the story is split between Deku's journey and Shigaraki's.
The league are no longer just an insane fringe element that doesn't deserve to be listened to or have their wrongs redressed. Since they now have the MLA they have public support behind them, they like become actual rebels against hero society with even public support. Either the War Arc doesn't happen, or the villains win and society is effectively destroyed so that the heroes no longer have their tight grasp.
A bunch of kids die in the war, because they weren't relevant and it's a consequence for UA raising child soldiers. The remaining relevant kids are forced to cope with two realities, number one they were violent enforcers of a broken system, number two the villains are right in some ways. A moment of the kids going "Are we the bad guys?" However, they can't agree with destroying everything so they have to fight to rebuild. The kids have lost faith in the adults, break off from them entirely so the adults no longer hog all the screentime and try to attempt to solve the problem on their own. Also, Enji dies in the war arc because Hori didn't do anything satisfying with his character beyond that part, and Dabi is hit with feelings of: oh no killing my father didn't fix my problem.
Then you'd basically have to have the narrative find a compromise between Shigaraki's complete radicalism but lack of any motivation to rebuild, and Deku's desire to save others but lack of self-awareness about the evils of his society and how the system can't be fixed as it is. Like a war between the opposite forces of preservation and destruction and Deku and Shgiaraki having to eventually work together to build their world. Maybe Deku even manages to convince Shigaraki there is a future, and save him from statements like "I don't care what happens next." The League of Villains and the reduced Class 1A are like two parallel groups in the manga running in tandem, and also Deku's bonds with his friends are closer now and actually shown in story they become a tight knit group so both sides are trying to protect the people they love too.
Here was my realistic ending I was expecting when the war started. The kids fight their respective villainous foils and then manage to talk them down and solve things with words instead of violence. Then the villains and heroes team up in order to save Shigaraki from AFO, which is the first step of redemption of the league, and also the kids realizing that the league love each other. At the end of the fight Deku tells Shigaraki what he's always wanted to hear when he was Tenko, "You can be a hero, too." bookending the story with the words All Might told him. The villains either get rehabilitated because they helped take down AFO, or they run off to become vigilantes.
What we got was everyone being sent to hell instead and that sure is something.

Renaming the chapter to ‘From Midoriya to Shimura’ feels like such a slap in the face because all the other ‘From [x] to [x]’ chapters are focusing on saving in some shape or form. But Deku didn’t save Shigaraki??
Let's see...
Chapter 53: From Todoroki to Iida Todoroki arrives to the Iida-Deku-Stain fight and helps his classmates; Todoroki gives Iida encouraging words - "Never forget who you want to become!" Chapter 84: From Iida to Midoriya Class 1A discusses plans to rescue Bakugou, despite this breaking rules; Deku, Momo, Todoroki, and Kirishima prepare to head out, when Iida comes to punch Deku for his recklessness, and calls him out on worrying people; Iida joins the team Chapter 321: From Class A to One For All Class 1A confronts Edgy Deku, trying to talk sense into him and ask to join his fight; teamworks allow Iida to grab Deku's hand Chapter 418: From Midoriya to Shimura Deku is inside Shigaraki/Tenko's darkest and most traumatic memory; Deku holds Tenko's hands, symbolically preventing him from decaying the family, to give him relief from the guilt and self-loathing he's been carrying all these years; Shigaraki/Tenko acknowledges that his hatred may be gone, but chooses to stay a Hero for the Villains
The previous three ‘From [x] to [x]’ chapters contains someone arriving for someone in trouble, and giving them help in some form, usually by talking some sense into them. The goal is to quell their chaotic heart - Todoroki trying to get Iida out of his vengeful mindset, Iida trying to get Deku to understand the worrying recklessness of his actions, Class A trying to bring Deku home and stop being acting like a like wolf.
If so, then Chapter 418 does fit the pattern: Deku is here to soothe Shigaraki's raging, guilt-ridden heart. The other chapters had a lot more talking and actual, more believable heart-to-heart content, but still, this is Deku arriving to give help to Shigaraki/Tenko, who's in trouble. This is Deku validating Tenko's existence, which Tenko had expressed doubt over - that despite decay, despite the familicide, despite the later Villainy, Deku is unafraid to hold Tenko's hands (because this is the vestige realm so he can survive; sucks that Nao tried to run to her kid and got decayed and so it's like her fault for not surviving), and is here at all to save the inner Child.
And Deku does arguably succeed. Tenko's hatred "cracks" and Tenko is able to think of happier times, of that moment he played with Mikkun and Tomo-chan and felt the seed of Heroic desire. As I've said before, Deku saves Shigaraki/Tenko's heart. That's the save. This chapter is when Midoriya Izuku got through to Shimura Tenko, the Crying Child.
It's just that Shigaraki/Tenko rejects the save. Deku got through to him but Shigaraki/Tenko says no. Or rather, decides the Hero he wants to be is a Hero for the Villains (which I guess is incompatible with the world's heroism?). And then also AFO shows up and Shigaraki's body falls apart and it's somewhat ambiguous whether Deku really is responsible for Shigaraki's death or not.
So technically: Midoriya did save Shimura's Crying Child heart - Shigaraki later vaguely admits this in Chapter 423, where he acknowledges that maybe he really was just a crying brat, so he accepts Deku's statement that Deku stopped the cycle of sadness. Shigaraki dies—not happy, but more at peace, and that is what truly matters. According to the story I guess.
(That, or the title has it that Shigaraki and Tenko might as well be separate people. Deku saves Tenko but did not save Shigaraki. But Tenko is the (15-years-past ghost) child who needed saving, while Shigaraki is the adult villain who committed atrocities, so it's accurate to use "From Midoriya to Shimura" because Shimura gets saved but Shigaraki does not (and deserves not.))

Imagine this
you're Aizawa's support teacher, you also are quirkless.
but you are the world's great support hero.
from teleportation guns, to serums that can temporarily give some ones quirk, to holograms that act like solids and weird pokemon that are programmed to have a 100% success rate.
but does class 1A know this?
HELL NO.
for all they know you might as well have the same quirks as Monoma or be All for One in secret.
but when they DO find out Bakugou is the first one to speak up.
"NO WONDER YOU'RE NOT A REAL HERO. YOU'RE WEAK"
cut to him getting his ass whooped the way he deserves .
"Bakugou. I thought you were smarter than this. don't you see just because I am quirkless does not mean I am powerless."
-- (Y/n)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
so yeah I'm thinking about having this as a series.
like just shenanigans of a badass, yet soft big sis (Y/n) being a total girlboss and Dabi having the biggest crush on her but shhhhh if shiggy finds out it's all over
ofc I am writing for myself so please no hate.
and yes i know I'm a terrible writer but that's why I'm here! to practice and get better.
o.k now you get me hooked i was wondering if you could to a platonic yandere class 1a x izuku please.
oh could i? absolutly.
also, not all of these are totally platonic, but a fair portion of them are. i just wanted some diversity with these characters and their interpretations. if anyone wants a strictly platonic lean on a character i portrayed more romantically, just hit my askbox!
also, also, this took me a while lmao
Aoyama
Aoyama is already kinda obsessed with Izuku, but it's cranked up here, besties!
Okay, so Aoyama sees Izuku as what he's not and what he could be, a reflection on who he should've been, who he could've been. There's a fair amount of angst potential with these two.
Aoyama cares about Izuku, loves him even. He's everything Aoyama is, without the negative traits associated with him. If he wasn't so desperate to fit in, maybe Izuku's opportunity would've fallen into his lap. Maybe there was another way to get a quirk that he oh so desperately wanted.
And now, in lieu of that, he just wants Izuku's attention and sympathy.
Only Izuku knows what it's like being formerly quirkless, but now having a power that hurts him. Izuku knows how his own body is breaking apart and his being pulled at the seams by it and the obligations attached to it. Hell, Aoyama didn't even want to be a hero at first, he just wanted to be normal.
But he'll never be normal, not anymore. So now, a part of him wants to be Izuku.
He's his #1 fanboy, molding himself to be more like Izuku would want. If he's more friendly to someone else, Aoyama's becoming him. He has a shrine to the things Izuku likes, making his interests into Yuga's own.
Because Izuku is what he could've been. And the guilt turned into a need for action. And that action is to better himself, make himself into his idol and the delusions Yuga has surrounding him.
Mina
Mina Ashido, as we established, wants to be Izuku's friend. Nothing more, nothing less.
She herself has always been surrounded by groups of people. With her pink physique and bubbly façade, she's always been able to be around people and befriend them quite easily.
Izuku wasn't as easy. Sure, he's willing to befriend anyone, in the way someone so undeniably lonely and starved for attention is, but she can't monopolize him. She can't get him into her inner circle.
And it's all Bakugou's fault.
Whatever bad blood they have from growing up is evident. He hates Izuku while still comparing himself and wanting to be with him. And Izuku looks up to Bakugou. It's evident. Mina may not be smart with school, but she's damn good with people.
And she wants to be good with Izuku specifically. She wants to know everything about him, be two peas in a pod. They're a kiwi strawberry, watermelon duo that deserves to be the bestest of friends.
And if it wasn't for her fondness of Kirishima and Kirishima's love of Bakugou, she'd be much closer in making that happen.
Tsuyu
Izuku reminds Tsuyu of her little siblings and herself when she was younger, to a certain degree.
He's so desperate for friends—jovial, determined to. He has set goals and wants to make the world a better place. And she doesn't want to stop him. Oh no, she wants to help him in any way she can.
He saved her life back in the USJ. He was the one with the brainpower to have a plan on how to evade those villains and get to safer shores. He could spring into action in a way she couldn't.
She froze, and Izuku saved her.
So now, Tsu's dedicated herself to being his older sister, subconsciously. Making sure he's safe, fed, and following the rules. She doesn't want to see him hurt, but he keeps putting himself in dangerous conditions. She has the mind to tell Aizawa to stop letting him destroy himself, but he's too good at being a hero, too self-sacrificing.
Oh well, she'll just stick to helping bandage him booboos.
Iida
He has a complicated relationship with Izuku, and it's completely one-sided on his side.
Sure, they're friends and they respect one another, but Iida wouldn't be alive without him. Iida sees Izuku as this symbol of virtue, a hero to look up to.
But he also sees him as a rival. Something to beat, something to overcome. Because he sees Izuku as holding him back. Being friends with him is what's ruining his own personal growth.
It's weird. It keeps Iida up at night. Honestly, he wishes Izuku wouldn't do heroics anymore. Not just because he's better at it then Tenya is, but because he's damaging himself. Over and over again, Izuku's shown to not care for his own physical safety when it regards literally anyone else.
It infuriates Tenya.
Izuku should take a break. Settle down, value himself. Because he's working himself to the bone. And sure, he's doing fine now, but it's one little slip up and he's down for the count.
Tenya knows this all too well.
If Tsuyu has a sisterly vibe with Izuku, Tenya has a fatherly fear for him. Sure, he wants Izuku to live a long and happy life, but he doesn't want him to get hurt. No, not at all.
Ochako
We all know of Ochako's crush on Izuku. It starts when he saves her from being smushed in the entrance exam, and then comforting her afterwards. She has her feelings and tries to hide them miserably, even if somehow, Izuku doesn't notice.
But here, this crush is blown in to full on obsession. He's her personal hero. He's her driving force. Screw the money or her parents, Ochako's here to gain the love and support of Izuku.
She wants all of his support and motivation. She wants him to cheer her on and help her up. She wants him to be there for her.
And no doubt is she there for him also, always pressed up against him in the way that makes his skin turn all bright red and his words to stammer, as if she can see him short-circuiting. She wants him to be in awe of her, just like he is of all his heroes.
And she wants that to be more than the reverence he has of All Might himself. Because All Might does his heroics for everyone. She does it all for him.
Ojiro
Ojiro knew that he had no claim to Izuku. They weren't really friends and definitely not more than that. And that fact made him snappy.
Whoever was near Izuku was a threat. He'd bump them with his tail, whipping it around fast enough to leave a large red spot. And he'd frame it as an accident. They didn't see them there, behind them. They shouldn't have run into him. They needed to look.
But he always knew how to be sneaky about it. He trained this. He perfect this ability.
And he looks, watching. And he'll strike at just the right moment.
Denki
Denki found himself taken seriously by Deku, and that's when it all started for him.
Nobody has ever really not taken pity or outright laughed at him for what happens when he uses his quirk. He's been the butt of jokes and imitations, or long talks with adults speaking down on him for what happens afterwards. But Izuku just sat with him, talking.
As Denki came to, he was hearing a recap of the battle. He blinks into focus a green haired boy and nothing else. Denki's slowly able to count the myriad of freckles and see the way his emerald green eyes shine in the sunlight.
Denki swears that he could feel Cupid's arrow piercing him then and there. Not he just needs to act upon it.
Kirishima
Kirishima sees stars in his eyes as soon as Midoriya goes above and beyond to save Bakugou.
As we all know, Bakugou is Kirishima's best friend. But he sees that Bakugou feels conflicted about Izuku, some sort of shared past between them that he's not yet privy to. And we know it's one of hostility, at least on Katsuki's side, so when Izuku goes and decides to help him anyways when he's been kidnapped, something changes in Kirishima.
No doubt Katsuki's his best friend, but Izuku's like a hero to him. Someone he looks up to like he does Crimson Riot. And Kirishima wants to make him proud. Because he hero-worships Deku.
After all, he is his role model nowadays.
Koda
Izuku would speak for Koda when he could not, and that level of friendliness is what opened his eyes to the perfect pureness of Izuku Midoriya.
And Koda needed to know more. He needed to know everything. And he had just the quirk to do so.
His little animal friends would help him in every way possible, passing along information to better know the boy. Koda had difficulty speaking to people, difficulty letting himself be heard. But Izuku? He was someone he wanted to speak to, wanted to know.
But on days he couldn't, he was a fly on the wall. Gathering information and knowing everything about the boy who made him feel like something.
Satou
Satou knows what looks he gets, how people truly think of him. He's a dumb brute, a boy who has too much strength and no intellect to back it up. He looses himself when he's stronger and it makes him mad, like depictions of Frankenstein's Monster—all distorted from the truth that he is an intelligent person and that his biggest characterization is a quirk of his affliction, or, a side effect of his quirk.
But Izuku, he didn't care. He gave him grace to learn, to grow. He never saw him as lesser or stupid because of his mental state. In fact, he only grew in curiosity and understanding, even helping him learn how to siphon out his strength, pour it through a funnel and not succumb to a mental state in which he's more of a hinderance than help.
And, when he reaches that state? Izuku is there to reel him back in. Keep him safe while he regains his intellect. And if that isn't the start of an obsession, Satou doesn't know what is.
Shoji
Shoji has a similar sort of reference for Izuku that Satou does. But instead it being about what happens to him, as an effect of his quirk, it's his quirk as a whole that Izuku provides comfort in.
Shoji isn't from a place that's understanding of mutants. A desire for small-town aesthetics and normalcy, even after a century of quirked people's existence. He learned to hide himself, hide the features that made him even more monsterous.
He could not hide all of himself like he wanted to, but the desire started to melt away after hanging out with Izuku.
Izuku came up to him, genuinely interested about his quirk. He asked questions with a reverence Shoji never experienced, an excitement not even he himself has about his own quirk. And, with a tenderness Shoji hadn't experienced in a long, long time, asked to sketch him for his notebook.
Shoji would've refused anyone else. But Izuku was so pure in his desire. There wasn't a drop of maliciousness in his emerald green eyes. And so he was sketched. And so he fell.
Shoji towers over many people, Izuku included. And he wants to protect as many people as possible, scoop them up in his strong arms and take them out of danger.
No one more so than Izuku for that fantasy of heroics, even if Shoji knows that Izuku can handle himself far better than most.
Tokoyami
His sheer talent is what originally caught Tokoyami's eye.
Tokoyami just needed to be in a group for the Sports Festival. Being without one would be instant disqualification and it would be embarrassing to lose just because of his personability.
Izuku took him into the fold and used all that he knew about him and his group to their advantage, skyrocketing them. Tokoyami never really talked about himself, especially to the accident-prone, insanely talented Izuku. And yet, he felt as if he'd been seen.
And with his own eagle-sight, he set his sights on Izuku.
Everything he ever did, he was watched by the treeside raven. Tokoyami would take in his every action, his every thought.
There was nothing he did that Tokoyami didn't know. There was nothing anyone did to and around him that Tokoyami didn't know.
He was there, everpresent as the shadow behind Izuku. And he was not going to let anyone who harmed izuku get off clean.
Jirou
Jirou has never really had the urge to abuse her quirk en masse, until she heard everyone else's obsession over Izuku.
It started with a curiosity. What made him so special. What made everyone else so obsessed. And as she unraveled this, the web just got bigger and bigger. She wanted less to know why everyone was so interested, but instead, she wanted to know more and more about him in general.
And she got her juicy information. He had received his quirk, not being born with.
It was an interesting phenomenon. She's yet to uncover what exactly happened—how the transfer occurred. But she knows about it, and she wants to know more.
But Jirou can't just come out with this information. It's obvious what she's doing and her cover will be blown.
So, she just accepts to listen in for everything. Any of his ramblings are good enough to fuel her fire.
Sero
Sero found himself perplexed at all of this commotion, just like Jirou.
Sure, Midoriya was cool and all, but nothing special enough to warrant this type of attention. What he originally interested in was Bakugou and his relationship with Midoriya, because he was convinced that there was more to meet the eye between those two.
And he hasn't yet found it, but he's desperate. The feeling that there is something there, something bigger than they just grew up together sits in his mind, unable to be left alone.
And he will find it. He'll tape together the pieces and fit this puzzle together, no matter how strange the pieces are.
Hagakure
She liked to watch, stare at people until the noticed her.
She liked to bare herself to the world, even though she was invisible to them. She liked to be noticed and be present.
It was her way of making sure she was remembered. And of course, Izuku always noticed and remembered her, making sure she was included.
Izuku never made her feel invisible.
Katsuki
Katsuki knew Izuku the longest.
They were friends for all of their lives, born less than a month apart. Izuku was always by his side, following him. He was annoying to be honest, a pest that wouldn't seem to die.
But when they both went to UA, he noticed something: Others were interested in Izuku similarly to how he was.
And Katsuki hated it.
Izuku was his. Izuku had to be his. They were destined for each other, like celestial bodies caught encircling each other. Izuku and Katsuki weren't to be seperated.
He just didn't realize it. And that's what set him off the most.
Katsuki's hatred was an obsession. Katsuki's hatred was a shield so he wouldn't have to process the worry and doubt he would feel about Izuku and the whole world who wanted him dead for being Quirkless.
And so he blames himself for everything Izuku's gone through. Because if he wasn't so stubborn, if he was so righteous, then Izuku would never get hurt. He would never get away. He would never be in someone else's arms.
And Katsuki's willing to do anything it takes in order to keep Izuku to himself, just like it used to be.
Shinsou
Izuku outsmarted him at the Sports Festival and that's what started all for him.
He didn't pity him or take him as a lesser opponent for not leading with a physical attack. Izuku valued his smarts and then used that against Hitoshi.
And after the Sports Festival? He just chatted with him like his quirk was normal. Like he wasn't destined on becoming a villain just because his quirk could lend really well for it.
He even offered to help him become a hero. He said he understood where he was coming from and how to help.
Shinsou doesn't know why he trusted him, or why he believed Izuku was telling the truth in that moment, but Hitoshi would swear to both of those decisions and protect Izuku from the more nefarious villains from the underground.
After all, they're easily taunted and Shinshou works well with that.
Momo
Momo first noticed Izuku when he was voted for Class President and turned it down. Anyone would be lucky to have that on a resume for further education or applications to agencies, but he didn't.
Momo thought he was weird for it, but she finally understood why once Katsuki was taken.
Izuku didn't want to deal with any sort of beauacracy or rules, he just needed to save people.
Momo knows all to well of the legal side of heroics. It's what the Yaoyorozu family is known for. It's what allowed her to be a Recommended Student, making her entrance into UA easier.
And she can see the distain for it on Izuku's face. Momo's seen the disillusionment of heroics up close and she wanted to be on the other side of the fence, instead of alongside the lawyers and politicians like every other Yaoyorozu before her.
Momo wants to make sure he never feels that way. She wants to foster the feelings of heroism and joy that she knows many forgets.
She wanted it for herself, but no one is as important as a Hero than Izuku is. Not anymore.
ROUND 1A, MATCH 3 OUT OF 8!
Cause of Death & Propaganda Under the Cut:
Kaede Akamatsu
Cause of Death: Framed & Executed; Hanged
Propaganda:
At first she seems like the main protagonist (first girl protag of a main series game, yay!) Stuck in a death game, she was framed for murder and executed in order to give the REAL male protagonist Angst. Was killed cruelly and unjustly and replaced with a much less proactive and interesting character. Justice for Kaede.
Kaede Akamatsu is the first female protagonist of a mainline Danganronpa game! JK of course she's not! Her death in the first trial gives emo shy boy Shuichi Saihara the motivation he needs to become the *true* protagonist of the game! She has so much wasted potential as a protagonist... truly pain and misery on planet earth.
Kaede was the first female protagonist of the mainline Danganronpa games, and also the first protagonist with a notable talent! She was a very fun and interesting character who was taken away from us in the first trial, thus making the protagonist of the game another random detective boy. Her death is mostly used to fuel his story, and she quite literally had no reason to die. Her death was also extremely brutal, and it felt like the devs spitting in our face to make a character with such potential into a “dead waifu.”
Akane Hyakuya
Cause of Death: Murdered by a Vampire
Propaganda:
[No Propaganda Submitted]
Kuina Shimotsuki
Cause of Death: Accident; Fell down the stairs
Propaganda:
she's a sword fighter! she wanted to be the best sword fighter in the world and was until she died the best in her class. while practicing with zoro she was giving him tips on how to improve (even before they become friends). she has a really cool sword (which zoro takes after she dies to "carry on her legacy" or something). we dont know anything else about her :)))))))))
Listen Oda normally writes the women characters well but this... this was not it. Other than giving Zoro motivation she doesn't really have much of a role in the main story and idk she could've had a more "honorable" death or something
1a girls monopolize shouto time when they're on their periods because he's a personal heat pack but can also keep them from getting too warm. it is not at all uncommon to see shouto with his hand on one of the girls' lower stomachs to ease cramps in the dorms. because of this they're all really close to each other so he's always invited to their girls night. he really likes when they do his hair or paint his nails during those nights where they all pamper him like he does them. just. shouto being close friends with people outside his usual group <3333 he deserves the world. also whenever he's not around when they need a personal heater, momo will make heating packs and give the girls massages because she's the best class mom anyone could ask for
Last week I binged the Nightmare Ned TV series for a second time and I decided to rank and review each episode!!
Episode 1A: Ned’s Life As A Dog
Plot: Bullies Conrad and Vernon make Ned unknowingly eat dog food, leading Ned to believe he's been "contaminated." Ned proceeds to have a nightmare about turning into a talking dog as a result of eating dog food.
Comments: Honestly one of my top favorite episodes. Ned's dog form looks so adorable, it caught my attention throughout the whole episode. The talking cat and fleas are quite funny as well, adding a bit of comic relief. Conrad and Vernon's consequences of unknowingly eating cat food is funny too, they deserved it for mistreating dog Ned and the cat.
Rating: 9/10
Episode 1B: A Doll’s House
Plot: Ned's cousins visit him and show him their dolls they play with. Ned takes a disliking to this, accidentally breaks a doll, and goes to bed early to avoid further interaction with his cousins. He then has a nightmare about what would happen if he was one of his cousins' dolls.
Comments: I find it hilarious that the cousins sound just like Phil and Lil from Rugrats (they're voiced by the same VA, Kath Soucie, so it's no wonder). I also found the part where Ned invites his cousins for tea to be hilarious as well, and when Ned takes a wild ride in the little car his cousins steer around.
Rating: 8/10
Episode 2A: Robot Ned
Plot: Ned's dad helps him build a robot named Samurai 7. He decides not to follow the instructions in the manual, much to Ned's dismay. Bedtime approaches, and Ned has a nightmare in which "Sammy 7" is finally finished, but he isn't what Ned expected.
Comments: I honestly thought Sammy 7 was a bit of a jerk, but then again, it's only a nightmare. The one "golden moment" of this episode in my opinion is when Ned turned off Sammy's boosters and acted all smug about it lol.
Rating: 7/10
Episode 2B: Dapper Dan
Plot: Ned forgets to put away his toys, resulting in his dad slipping and falling on the floor. Ned is then sent to his room so he can think about what he can do to "remember not to forget." "Remember not to forget what?" Ned wonders. He then has a nightmare about forgetting something even more important...
Comments: Not much I have to say about this except the part where Conrad and Vernon try to "help" Ned was humorous to me, and the ending wasn't what I expected but it's still funny, hehe.
Rating: 8/10
Episode 3A: Monster Ned
Plot: Ned gives a speech in school pertaining to the prompt "If I could be anyone in the world, I would be..." and he chooses TV monster Glorpulon, a parody of Godzilla. Everyone else in his class laughs at him, and he isn't too happy about it. He is then sent to a stool to reflect on his behavior. He has a nightmare about what it would be like if he was Glorpulon himself.
Comments: I really like Ned's monster form and I also like that he learns a lesson about not letting what others think of him get in the way of what he believes or what he wants to do or say. The ending reflects that, and I love it.
Rating: 7/10
Episode 3B: Ants
Plot: Ned is seen reading a comic book until his dad comes in with an ant farm and explains how ants work every day for their queen, which bores Ned (as well as myself, honestly.) Ned has a nightmare about him and his dad being inside the ant farm and trying to fit in with the colony.
Comments: Not to sound cold, but honestly, this is the most boring episode of the series in my opinion. Ant farms never interested me, and the part where the queen ant has a romantic interest (somewhat) in Ned's dad?? I found that part weird, and not in a good way.
Rating: 5/10
Episode 4A: Magic Bus
Plot: Ned doesn't want to ride the bus to school, so he has a nightmare about taking one. There's a catch though: he ends up meeting the girl of his dreams, and at the same time, he has to save the bus from heading to the sun, with the bus being controlled by a bossy ventriloquist dummy.
Comments: I ship Ned and Little Girl (that's what the girlfriend is referred to in the episode) :3 Also I originally wasn't expecting the puppet to be the main villain of this episode when I first saw this. He's also one of the few characters voiced by Jim Cummings in this series :3
Rating: 7/10
Episode 4B: Until Undeath Do Us Part
Plot: Ned goes to see a horror movie, and Joni (a classmate and possible admirer) follows him in. He becomes tired of Joni bothering him and ends up falling asleep, but not before he unknowingly hands her a ring, which she sees as him proposing to marry her. He has a nightmare in which a zombie woman picks up the same ring and plans to marry Ned.
Comments: Not as boring as "Ants," but it's not one of my favorites either. Also, I agree when Ned says it's strange that a zombie would want to marry a living person. I just found it to be weird in general and not all that interesting.
Rating: 6/10
Episode 5A: Headless Lester
Plot: Ned and a few other kids hear a scary story about "Headless Lester" at a summer camp. Nightmare then commences, in which Ned tries to convince the other kids that Lester doesn't exist. Hilarity ensues as Lester is indeed encountered.
Comments: Not one of my favorites either, but the concept of Headless Lester himself is quite funny. The part that led up to the ending got a laugh out of me too, Ned looked so silly :3
Rating: 7/10
Episode 5B: My, How You’ve Grown
Plot: Ned gets his height measured by his mom, while his dad makes fun of him somewhat because of his short height. Ned's disappointed to find out he didn't grow one bit since his last measurement and breaks down in tears. He then receives a package that has weighted leg bands, hopefully to help him grow taller. He tries them out for himself before falling asleep and dreaming about himself being taller (and what he'd be like as a teenager.)
Comments: This one got a kick out of me, especially with the voices of Brian Doyle-Murray (Norm) and Jason Marsden (teenage Ned) making an appearance. I couldn't help but chuckle at the "short" puns Ned's dad would make in the beginning of the episode too, Brad Garrett's just too funny.
Rating: 7/10
Episode 6A: Tooth Or Consequences
Plot: Ned loses his last baby tooth while he brushes his teeth and freaks out about it. His parents explain that it's a normal process and they encourage him to let the tooth fairy have his last baby tooth. He isn't eager about it and has a nightmare about meeting the tooth fairy and visiting her world.
Comments: This episode takes me back to the days when I lost my baby teeth, and like Ned, I was freaked out about losing teeth myself. The palace and arcade owned by the tooth fairy caught my attention too, I wondered where those quarters would come from lol. Old Wisdom Tooth? That took me back too, having wisdom teeth pulled is quite an experience.
Rating: 8/10
Episode 6B: Show Me The Infidel
Plot: Ned has been waiting his whole life to ride the House of Horror at the amusement park. Problem is, the line to get in is ridiculously long. He ends up falling asleep, dreaming about finally going on the ride. The catch? There's a hidden world in the attraction, and Ned must find his way out before it's too late.
Comments: The nerdy guy Ned sits next to in his nightmare (turned demon) made me chuckle, especially since he's voiced by Jim Cummings. Also if you pay attention to his voice as the demon, it sounds similar to his voice on the VHS ad for the Nightmare Ned video game ("Your home computer is about to swallow you alive..") :3 The fact that Ned was constantly bothered by all the changes and rhymes he hears in regards to how to escape is all too relatable to me too.
Rating: 8/10
Episode 7A: Willie Trout
Plot: Ned's dad takes the family fishing at Lake Pee Pee-No-No, home of the legendary Willie Trout. Ned would much prefer to catch up on his homework, but his dad suggests fishing instead and spending time with the family. He becomes bored and the nightmare ensues. His parents become pirates and they're on the hunt for Willie Trout, who has stolen his dad's head. It's now up to Ned to retrieve it.
Comments: Get ready to see references to Pinocchio in this episode. I didn't expect them the first time, but it added to the humor and plot. Also, Cicero's (the cat, parody of Figaro) behavior is an inspiration for my character Bandit Ricky. Slightly unrelated but I had to point that out :3
Rating: 8/10
Episode 7B: House of Games
Plot: Ned hears strange noises as he tries to sleep, and his dad explains that it's just the house reacting to the outside environment (expanding and contracting). With that in mind, Ned has a nightmare in which everything in the house, and the house itself, comes to life and throws a "party."
Comments: This was a rather trippy episode, and I was able to recognize Kath Soucie and Jim Cummings' voices almost instantly. I like to imagine if a similar situation were to occur in the Nightmare Ned video game. It would've been a fun nightmare to explore.
Rating: 8/10
Episode 8A: Girl Trouble
Plot: Ned is tricked into entering the girls' restroom at school by notorious bullies Conrad and Vernon. Two of the girls (one of them being Joni from "Until Undeath Do Us Part) try to calm him down but it fails and he leaves the school to retreat under a tree. He then has a nightmare about himself being a girl (called Nedra.)
Comments: As a trans man speaking, this episode was rather relatable, especially when Ned says "I'm not a girl" or any variation of it. I can see why people headcanon Ned as a trans boy, and I somewhat agree with it. My favorite part though? Conrad and Vernon being humiliated by Nedra. It cracks me up every time I watch.
Rating: 9/10
Episode 8B: Canadian Bacon
Plot: Ned brings home a piglet he calls "Butterflake." He then asks his parents at dinner if he could keep a pet. They say "no" to the idea of keeping a pet pig, which makes Ned disappointed. He then dreams about Butterflake taking Ned to his house in Canada to stay with him adn his family. Ned quickly fits in with Butterflake's family and they feed him, well, like a pig lol. This later proves to be a trap...
Comments: This was rather wholesome to see Ned interacting with a pet. Butterflake is so precious :3 Features Kath Soucie as Butterflake and Andrea Martin as mama pig.
Rating: 8/10
Episode 9A: Abduction
Plot: The news on TV talks about a strange phenomenon in which cows are seen with mustaches painted on them. Ned wears cow PJs to bed to stand in solidarity with the cows. He becomes abducted himself and encounters two aliens who are trying to study intelligent life forms. Hilarity ensues.
Comments: Another episode I don't find to be very interesting. Not much to say except there's a twist ending in this episode I didn't expect.
Rating: 7/10
Episode 9B: Bad Report Card
Plot: Ned receives his report card from school, but the grades are horrendous. He proceeds to rip up the card to shreds and goes to bed early to avoid possible confrontation. He has a nightmare in which he gets arrested for tearing up said report card and goes to jail, along with Conrad and Vernon, who give him trouble.
Comments: Conrad and Vernon are always funny to me. Yeah, they're quite mean, but they make for good comic relief. The last scene involving Conrad and his dad is a golden moment as well.
Rating: 8/10
Episode 10A: Testing… Testing…
Plot: Ned spends the night at school studying for an upcoming test so he can take home the class pet, Sparky the turtle. In his nightmare, Ms. Bundt, his teacher, hands him his test. The problem is that the test is blank!! He wants to solve this issue, but he then runs into the Answer Bird who tries to help him find his teacher.
Comments: The Answer Bird is not to be trusted. He looks so skrunkly though, I need to draw him someday. I do find him to be funny though, even if he can be annoying. Also, Ned in his frog PJs is unexpectedly adorable.
Rating: 8/10
Episode 10B: The Accordion Lesson
Plot: Ned's mom reminds him that his accordion lesson with Madame Olga is in a few minutes. He tries practicing "Red River Valley" but ends up falling asleep. In his nightmare, Madame Olga takes Ned to her domicile, where Ned discovers Boots, Olga's former partner. Olga then uses Ned for her personal gain and fame.
Comments: Madame Olga is also not to be trusted. Neither is Boots, for that matter. The ending's rather wholesome though, I love it so much :3
Rating: 8/10
Episode 11A: Steamed Vegetables
Plot: Ned is nervous about performing in a school play about food and nutrition. He also hates his corn cob costume (this is important later.) His teacher helps him relax, leading to him falling asleep. In his nightmare, his audience becomes a crowd of vegetables, rather than humans. His costume becomes a human ear instead of an ear of corn. He loudly blurts out that vegetables suck and the veggies are revolted. He tries to backpedal, but the veggies then seek revenge.
Comments: Again, not an interesting episode to me. Not much to say here.
Rating: 7/10
Episode 11B: Along For The Ride
Plot: Ned becomes bored after being in the car for several hours, on a road trip with his family. He falls asleep and has a nightmare about being trapped in a creepy roadside hotel with his family, who's captured by the hotel owner. It's up to Ned to save his family from captivity once again.
Comments: Tbh the parts that caught my attention most were the baby sister's ducky and Ned's parents singing in the car at the start. The hotel owner is creepy af and I can also see the hotel environment being an idea for what should've been in the Nightmare Ned game.
Rating: 8/10
Episode 12A: Lucky Abe
Plot: Ned rushes to his room and puts on his magician outfit, preparing to watch magician Frank Grimes on TV. He prepares to attempt a disappearing penny trick with Lucky Abe, a family heirloom. Unfortunately, he ends up swallowing the penny and faints upon realizing it. He has a nightmare about having a surgery to remove said penny.
Comments: Fun fact: this episode was originally called "One Cent Ned," according to the show's press kit. Ned's magician outfit's cool too. I made fanart of him in that outfit once :3 Also Penn Gillette of Penn and Teller voices Frank Grimes, so that's cool too :3
Rating: 9/10
Episode 12B: The Dentist
Plot: Ned prepares for his dentist appointment, but ends up falling asleep on the dentist chair. He has a nightmare about what happens when he doesn't brush his teeth regularly, with his dentist providing rhymes and explanations.
Comments: This reminds me of the medical nightmare from the Nightmare Ned video game, specifically the part where you enter someone's mouth. Again, not much to say here.
Rating: 9/10
Episode 12C: The Ballad of Conrad and Vernon
Plot: It starts out similarly to "Monster Ned," where the kids are sharing "If I could be anyone in the world, I could be..." reports. When Ned's turn comes up, he shares a poem he wrote about Conrad and Vernon, who we mentioned several times in this post. A clip show of moments from the previous episodes plays as Ned shares his poem.
Comments: Not much happens obviously, but the poem is quite funny. I don't think this is the best way to end a TV series, but then again, this show was prematurely cancelled so we can take what we can get. I enjoy this episode :3
Rating: 9/10
This show has its ups and downs and a few golden moments here and there. I prefer the game in all honesty but this show is worth watching as well. If only it wasn't prematurely cancelled and actually lived up to its full potential... us fans, fortunately, can come up with new ideas and characters! We can keep the franchise alive!!
Overall rating: 8/10
ROUND 1A, MATCH 12 OUT OF 16!
*The image being used for The Wide-Awake Princess is the book cover, though neither of the characters on it are Eleanor / Cinderella. There is no official art of her that I could find and am using the book cover as a place-holder. If you have found OFFICIAL art of the character that I did not feel free to send it in.
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Eleanor:
She’s a pretty typical Cinderella, but her magic falls apart early because she bumped into the protagonist who has anti-magic >:3
Elegant "Ella":
Ella fights for labor reform! I just reread the book intentionally so I could make propaganda for her but now my head is empty only LOVE FOR ELLA. She has two (gay) fairy godfathers, she worked in a sweatshop where her mother died, she has a well-developed with her prince, Dash Charming. The glass slippers are a very important motif even though she doesn’t actually get a pair herself because she was a secret fairy godparent case because the fairy godparent organization had become corrupt and wasn’t helping needy children, only the rich. It’s a sequel to Grounded which is a Rapunzel story, but Disenchanted stands alone in the same world and it’s my most favorite of the two!! She’s so kind and helps institute kingdom wide labor reform and ahhhhhhhh
Former child laborer who wants to use her family's newfound privilege to fight for workers' rights. Brave, smart, and compassionate, although she can also be reckless, because she's just a kid and she deserves BETTER. Actually has a good relationship to her step-family, who are badass and Black like her, and there's this really touching moment at the end that recontextualizes things a lot and it's very sweet and cool worldbuilding. Her fairy godmother is two gay contractors who overthrow their boss for being complicit in a corporate espionage/coup scheme. She has a nice and believable relationship with her prince, who is a fucking dork that learns to be less of a privileged idiot and would absolutely put his ass on the line for her in return. She's just so GOOD and Disenchanted is UNDERRATED, everyone go read it.
Her goal is to improve workers rights, directly inspired by the 19th century textile industry, right down to child labor and workers getting locked in factories. Her mother died working in a sweatshop. She struggles with her working class upbringing and her new upper class status after her father's invention made them rich. Not afraid of breaking the law. She's so cool and her book is so good.
Farewell to The Owl House: a personal essay (warning: this a long post)
When Steven Universe ended in 2020, I didn’t think I would ever find another animated show that I would grow to love dearly.
And then I found The Owl House a couple of months later.
I started seeing gifs (like this one) and posts about this cartoon on my dashboard, similarly to how I discovered Steven Universe. Eventually, I decided to check it out on Disney Now. I watched the first episode and immediately liked it. So I watched the next episode and the next til I caught up a week before the episode that rocked the world (or at least the fandom’s world).
Enchanting Grom Fright.
I have seen a few epic moments/episodes in children’s animated shows like Steven Universe and She-Ra. But there was just something about the lumity dance scene and the episode as a whole that just warmed my heart. And when Dana Terrace confirmed that Luz is bi (and later that Amity’s a lesbian), I was over the freaking moon.
Growing up, I never saw much if any (good) representation of bisexual characters in the media. I just assumed people were either gay or straight. I recognized my attraction to boys when I was a kid and immediately assumed I was straight, ignoring any signs that I liked girls too because I liked guys, so I can’t be gay, right?
Right?
It wasn’t until college and meeting one of my roommates who was bi and being introduced to her queer group of friends that I began to realize “yes, people can like men and women, or any genders for that matter.” And I finally allowed myself to ask the question: “do I like women too?” The answer was yes and I began identifying as bisexual (or queer when people act like they can’t understand bisexuality *eye roll*).
So finally seeing a show with a bi protagonist whose also a girl of color and neurodivergent just made me felt seen all these many years later. To know that kids and teens (and yes, adults too) can see a character like themselves or realized that bi people actually exist and are actually you know...people who deserves love and respect.
Luz is one of my favorite characters in the series, and I relate to her a good amount. But I relate to a few other characters too, particularly Amity.
I talked about this in another post I made last year (or was it 2021?) but going to talk about it on here too.
Lost in Language is one of my favorite season 1A episodes, for many different reasons. But mainly because of the progression of Luz and Amity’s relationship (from Amity wanting nothing to do with Luz to admitting she was harsh with her and them hitting the reset button).
I have been an Amity in the past. Not the mean/bitchy attitude Amity back then, coming from a rich or esteemed family. But I was the top student of my class too.
I had to be.
Not because of my parents like in Amity’s case. But because I had no other social standing in middle and high school. Students knew my name because of my high grades, my awards and eventually graduating as salutatorian. Yes, I’m still a tiny bit disappointed about the salutatorian thing. It was a battle between me and another girl throughout our 4 years in school, but she ended up becoming valedictorian.
In middle school, I had a Luz at my school. She kept trying to be my friend, but I wanted nothing to do with her. It always felt like whenever I was around her, something bad would happen. Especially this one incident. I was at my locker, ready to go home when she came by. She was twirling her baton, and it smacked me on my head. I got pissed and told her off. She profusely apologized, but I was too mad to accept her apology, and I left.
Looking back, I know I was too harsh with her. It was just an accident. She didn’t mean for the baton to hit my head. But at the time, I didn’t want her around. So unlike Luz and Amity, we never became friends.
I have slowly but surely grown to not care about being the best student, the best employee, the best child, the best this and that. I am an awesome person because of the person I have grown into, making changes and opening my mind and falling in and out of like/love with my friends (and more than friends). And no one can dictate the path I choose for myself.
I typed all of this to simply say: I love The Owl House.
I sometimes hate admitting it because Steven Universe still means a lot to me, but The Owl House has become my ultimate favorite cartoon of the newer generation (I’m a 90s baby and 90s/early 2000s cartoons still have my heart).
Besides relating to the characters and enjoying both the lighthearted and heartbreaking moments, this show has awakened the creativity in me.
I am a writer...or at least I love writing. But I haven’t done or shared that many projects of mine online. But in 2021, I gave drawing another chance, specifically redrawing screenshots. I liked my work and had the bravery to share my artwork on here, which I still do. I have to admit that my drawing skills have improved throughout the years. I still don’t feel ready to make art inspired by my own ideas. If I did, I would make and post a hundred black racebent Amity/canon Luz fanart.
And this year, I posted my very first fanfic. I have written fanfics before, but never ever shared them with anybody, especially not for the whole world to read. But again, this show inspired me so much that I just had to start sharing it.
Plus, my creative projects has helped me make some of the best friends I have ever made on here. And I love having their support and supporting them when they share their projects.
I’m not ready to see this amazing show come to end tonight. But I don’t think I will ever truly be ready to say goodbye. I’m going to miss this show. All the laughs, all the cries, all the shipping moments.
Thank you to the creator, the cast, the crew, and everybody who helped make this cartoon come into existence.
Us weirdos will always stick together.
Can I request a match up? Can it be male gender? And also class 1a
I'm a girl who's 5'3" with a curvy body and medium, wavy chestnut hair. I have chubby cheeks with a bit of acne.
I tend to keep to myself but not in mysterious type, but rather distrustful due to being hurt in the past. I often try to keep my distance from people, scared of the betrayal feeling, but once you get to know me, I'm actually very calm and loving. However, I do get nervous when talking to people and fear of messing up, which is another reason why I'm very antisocial.
I, often carry this dumb energy that's energetic and enthusiastic behavior that lacks thoughtfulness or intelligence. It may involve impulsive actions or reckless behavior without considering the consequences.
In my free time, I enjoy working out to stay fit. When i want to unwind and relax, I listen to music. I also like to cook and bake, to experiment different recipes and ingredients. I find it calming to focus on a recipe and create something delicious from scratch.I also enjoy solitary hobbies like reading or watching movies. These types of hobbies can provide a sense of escapism and allow me to relax and recharge my batteries.
I don't know how to describe myself
I'm sorry if this is difficult for you. (╯︵╰,)
Don’t worry about describing yourself, you did great and this was more than enough for me to write a match-up for you anonie! Thank you for sending in a request, I hope you see this and that you enjoy your match-up! :D
I’d Match You With:
Izuku Midoriya!
Reasoning:
You two honestly just seem like you’d fit well together to me based off of your description of yourself, he understands your anxieties and fears of betrayal and he’s the perfect boyfriend to help ease those fears and treat you the way you deserve to be treated, while also having fun, relaxed times together :]
Headcanons About Your Relationship:
- First of all, Izuku absolutely adores your chubby cheeks! They’re probably his favorite physical feature on you, he loves pressing light kisses to them or poking them gently when you’re feeling down in hopes of making you smile, he’s just really enamored with your precious chubby cheeks :D
- Izuku knows that you have trouble trusting and opening yourself up to people, and he’s very understanding about that fact. Of course he wants to eventually introduce you to his friends and bring you closer to the other people in his life that he cares about, but he takes that process step-by-step with you at whatever pace you’re comfortable with. He’d never push you too far or make you uncomfortable, but he’s good at helping you slowly work through your fears and grow closer to his friends and family
- He also has a tendency to be reckless and/or impulsive, so Izuku’s never going to scold you or make you feel bad for your impulsive actions. He knows he’d be a hypocrite for doing so, so instead, he just focuses on trying to make sure you never accidentally hurt yourself when you get overly excited or impulsive, and he’s always happy to help patch you up if you do find yourself slightly injured
- Izuku never thinks your energetic or enthusiastic bursts are dumb or unintelligent, he loves seeing you feel so happy and carefree for once and he encourages you to just let yourself feel energetic in those moments. He’ll do whatever he can to keep your mood up during those times, just tell him what you need because he wants you to feel energized and positive and to not feel ashamed for those moments
- Izuku loves working out with you! As a hero-in-training he constantly needs to be in the best shape possible, so he loves to join you in the gym if you're willing to let him :) Even if you two aren’t doing the same sets or exercises, he’s happy to accompany you and share your progress with one another at the end of each work-out (and he totally hypes you up for the progress you've made and/or the work you've done, he's the most supportive boyfriend in the world)
- Izuku’s honestly not the best at cooking or baking lol, he’s kind of a disaster in the kitchen (when he was younger he nearly started a fire trying to cook eggs and burnt them to a crisp, and his mom hasn’t let him near the kitchen since) But he wants to learn! He wants to have the basic life skills to at least be able to cook a basic meal for the two of you so that you don’t get stuck with all the cooking responsibilities, so if you’re willing to teach him and let him watch as you cook or bake, he’ll be a very thankful, happy boyfriend ^^
- Izuku knows that certain hobbies of yours, like reading, are your individual hobbies that you use to unwind and recharge your battery, so he knows not to disturb you during those times. He understands your need for space sometimes, just communicate and let him know when you need a bit of alone time and he’ll spend his time talking with his friends on the phone or watching a movie in the living room while you take the time you need to rejuvenate your energy
- Izuku also knows that you enjoy listening to music, so he frequently makes playlists full of songs he hears that reminds him of you :> When one of his playlists gets too long he’ll send it to you and start a new one, so every few weeks you get a playlist full of cute songs that make your sweet boyfriend think of you and your relationship :] (Please make him a playlist too, he doesn’t care what’s on it! Just the fact that you thought of him and put your time into making a playlist that reminded you of him is enough to absolutely melt his fragile heart :’) )
So seeing this poll gave me the opportunity to reread a few amazing fics, and read a small handful of new ones. I usually provide links, but you already did that, so less work for me, I can just reccomend things mindlessly to my single follower, while also throwing compliments at the author. That’s what I do, that’s what I’m best at.
Child rearing for Cosmic Horrors is an absolutely great time, I’ve loved it every time I read it. The daycare is a favorite part, I love the demonic babies and their insane powers. It’s hilarious and such a blast to read. I like to revisit it after some of the more angsty fics because i need that good balance in my life of sweet stuff and emotional damage.
Furry Might! I think the premise of this is so ridiculous. The fact that Koda knows something is wrong, and no one actually cares. The fact that Aizawa refuses to acknowledge the existence of the cat. The fact that the cat despises All Might no matter what he does. I love the shenanigans of Class 1A and their giant cat who’s actually a villain in disguise. Also the sheer absurdity of the fic stemming from budgeting issues- it’s perfect.
Awful For One is also a lovely and absurd time. I love my crack fics, I eat them for breakfast. Izuku teaming up with the vestiges to mess with All For One? Perfect. I love the fact that Nedzu knows the truth, and isn’t telling anyone about it. He’s such a mischievous little mouse bear, and I adore him. Him using the power to prank and capture the League of Villains? Then using it to possibly destroy the actual All for One? He saves the world by being a total troll on twitter? Absolutely hilarious.
Too Cold for Angels to Fly is a real dark one, in the line of Katydid making AUs in which characters are given the worst dad of all time (All For One). This is perhaps one of the worst endings for someone subjected to being related to All for One. Izuku has gotten better endings than this. There’s still hope at least! Maybe? Oh god, this is an angst fic, I’m 90% sure everyone is going to die if we get another chapter. I’m holding out for a happy ending, but the writing gods tend to be quite cruel. (No shame to the author, they make the best words for me to stab myself with exesential dread).
Thirty is the Time to Enjoy Your Freedom is another dark one, absolutely tragic. There’s something that hits different when Dad for One is up against an actual adult instead of a teenager. It hurts so much more. It’s written so well too. The paranoia of the second chapter? Ahh. So good. The first chapter, where it’s this really sad bit where Aizawa describes the pain of trying to constantly isolate himself and make up for his terrible dad, and push people away so he won’t hurt them… it’s so tragic. The ending of the second chapter is so painful. It hurts so bad. The emotional hurt. I am hoping that if a new chapter is added, we get a happy ending for this sad man, because he deserves it and you know what, I want it. I’m allowed to want things, and this would make such satisfying hurt/comfort after All for One ends up dying. Please, I beg of you, kill him. (Not that hurt/more hurt fics are bad, I just have intense emotional attachments to fictional characters)
AITA for vaulting my younger brother is an absolutely fabulous fic. If you can’t tell, I love crack fics, and this is a good one. All For One trying to spin his terrible actions into the morally correct ones is absolutely ridiculous. He’s such a horrible person, it’s funny to see how terrible he is. I love the way that he is just completely unaware that what he’s doing is wrong. He’s such an idiot (affectionate).
A Big Brother is Born First to Protect the Younger Ones is a pretty dark fic in which Dabi gets to do some vaulting. How exciting. All for One is a horrible influence, and really should read a book on parenting. He won’t finish it, but even if he just reads the first chapter, he might learn that empathy is good. I mean, at least Dabi is always terrible at his job, so quirkless Shoto should be able to escape his big brother no problem.
Corgizuku is another one where the entire narrative of the story is sidestepped in a really easy, yet completely ridiculous way. I love that trend. Izuku turning into a dog and ruining all the evil plans is a good story.
The Face on the Missing Person Poster is another good one. I like philosophy discussions, and I want to shove all the characters in a box and make them talk their problems out. I want the day to be saved through therapy. I made like… a massive comment under that fic today, (I’m Sparkletastic on Ao3) so I’m kind of out of words at the moment, but I love it. You can read my “oh goodness this is amazing” on there, where I just… write out my weird ideas and throw them at the author as if anyone asked for them in the first place. Anyway, seeing a villain Shoto is fun, and it’s been a while since I’ve read about good person Touya. Fun.
With this I have become one of the very last people to finally get tumblr polls!
I'm leaving this poll open for a full week and it will take me a while to write a fic so please be patient. I promise to eventually write the winner. Links to the fics under consideration:
Izuku’s Totally Normal Cat (of Mass Destruction)
I really hope we'll get more scenes of Bakugou calling Izuku by his name and not "Deku" because Izuku really needs it for his own well being. People think its only use is for Bakugou to show respect to Izuku but that's not all. It helps Izuku with his sense of self worth.
Let me remind yall why he's so self sacrificial and went on a vigilante solo rampage: he thinks his only value as a person is being One For All's holder.
All his life, he's been treated like shit, called "useless" because he didn't have a quirk. Because of that, he thinks he has absolutely no worth so his death wouldn't matter at all.
In the story, people are only showing love and respect to the hero he is. To his dedication to save people. Ochaco always says she admires how dedicated Izuku is to his dream of becoming a hero, Iida started to respect him after he saw him punch the big robot at the entrance exam to save Ochaco, All might chose him as a successor and almost became a father figure to Izuku since he saw the boy run into danger to save Bakugou from the sludge villain, Aizawa started to treat him better when he saw his potential as a hero, Bakugou stopped looking down on him and their relationship became better after he learnt the whole OFA story. He even helped Izuku train with Blackwip. Not to mention everyone, Izuku just became popular ever since he entered the hero course, which is totally different from middle school where he was mocked and bullied.
No wonder Izuku thinks people only love Deku, the hero, the OFA successor, the one who will save everyone, the strategic and smart hero with an awesome quirk. No wonder he's there and fights like the good hero he's supposed to be when society falls and he's given the weight of the world on his shoulders. No wonder he only responds "I'm strong" or "I'll get stronger" when people say they worry about him. Because if he's strong enough to win everytime why would anyone worry? Why would anyone worry about his mental health if he's being an awesome hero?
He doesn't know people also love Midoriya Izuku, for the human being he is. The "plain looking" socially awkward boy who mumbles all the time and will always stick to his red shoes. He doesn't know that. Or rather, he didn't know. Izuku was legitimately surprised when all class 1A came up in the 319th chapter, asking what even were they doing here because he didn't expect them to try to rescue him. He believed they'll just let him do hero stuff like the good hero he is. Izuku didn't imagine they'll worry for him.
So he almost cried when his classmates started to talk about memories they have with him and say they want him back for his own good. He really cries when Ochaco makes her speech saying Midoriya Izuku is just a high schooler, a kid who has a lot to learn and deserves to rest.
The fact that Bakugou calls him Izuku from now on could be very therapeutic in the long run.
"Izuku, we'll be there when you can't handle it all on your own." didn't only mean "Deku, 9th holder, we'll be there to back you up during difficult fights so you don't lose OFA". It also meant "Izuku, my friend, we'll extend you a hand to stand up when you fall and a shoulder to cry on when you're tired."
It means so much. Please may we see more of Bakugou calling our freckles boy by his name we all need it.
Serotonin.
(My own useless thoughts: Izuku is such a kind and precious person that I associates the name "Izuku" to kindness and softness, it just sounds so beautiful and full of love to me that I legit cry when Bakugou calls him Izuku it feels like a "I love you, precious" each time my heart cant do this anymore)
