truly something that, amidst facing / going through a dramatic Life Change ft. unavoidable emotional effects of that, there are instances where i can't conceal any & all degrees of being distressed / upset, & repeatedly getting "it's hard for me too" as a Direct Response to that: really something & a half how the asserted theoretical Sympathy of [i feel similarly!] is invoked so as to, oh you know, preclude sympathetic Treatment. such as that what would be More sympathetic in these instances would be to say Nothing, "if there's nothing but dismissal / making it first & foremost about someone else's feelings to say, don't say it at all" style
#reading also that original Lovelessness essay ''love is meant to make me human / love is also the mechanism by which my humanity#has been denied'' always preferring to have [sorry! couldn't fully bottle up this Emotiona externally manifesting at all!] Ignored rather#than ''nicely'' interacted with so as to Invalidate; Dismiss; someone's annoyed at you for having it; etc#for bonus context like we are not in the same boat with it.#not a case of ''the same situation; mine is worse though'' like no; fundamentally different situations here lmao. mine is worse#If You Feel So Bad. Or At All. then at least now do me the favor of Not Saying That; Repeatedly#their feelings put on me too in other ways. stewing resentment into lashing out; tossing out ''but i'm justified'' like ok! Your business!!#the ol like. If You're Going To Do Something Anyways then how you justify it to yourself is Your business / b/w you & your god as they say#& the last thing to do is be making it the problem of ppl Most Affected by what you're gonna do anyways & Also ask their Absolution.....#like if you need more moral support abt What You're Doing Anyways: turn to Anyone Else. even No One if you have to.#bit going tf through it when it's spilling over into Posting but such is life!! we all have that [the horrors. girl help] blogger on dash#again the tl;dr like oh you don't say. the [umm but have you considered? My Feelings! (they're so sympathetic at all. yor welcome)] is#the mechanism through which Really basic sympathy is being denied & replaced with [Saying Nothing would've been less hurtful]#misgendering me the other night too while Also all 'hey I'm trying to talk to the customer service. why are You going up & talking first'#(that was me experiencing the latter. i didn't say it but i was like cmon. my glasses are fogging up w/surgical mask (don't have access to#more effective masks so doing what Nonzero i can there) i'm a bit carsick i'm weathering a crisis. can i have anything here lol)#just Oh You Know. The Horrors....#balancing ofc trying to endure trying to self soothe etc etc. with ''it's the horrors. it's gonna be horrific & you're gonna be affected''#ah the [being kind to oneself] like also means knowing how reasonable it is to Not solo contain & endure & Cope Through everything....#crushing a paper cup in my hands genuinely i would like to generously thank my virtual allies out here today. mic feedback#irl In Real Life? life is Real asf here & nobody Realer than them

Sun Wukong is such a cool character across the board since if you genderbent the character - very little would change other than the reactions of those around them.
LMK: Same character. Only difference is brief confusion from MK and Tang, who adjust their pronouns when speaking of Dawn accordingly. Relationship with Macaque unchanged.
Hero is Back: Short red hair, chewing on hay, tall af? Thats half the butch farmers in my county. Liuer has a brief moment of "The Great Sage is a woman?" before going straight back to fanboying about how cool Dasheng is. Zhu Bajie is likely shocked and appalled that he was defeated by a woman - tho still shoots his shot. Attract does not work on Dasheng. Story accidentally becomes a tale of a mother sacrificing her life to protect her son, and ends with the son sacrificing himself to protect his new mother.
Reborn: Still a chaotic hissing gremlin of a monkey. Brief moment of funny where the very feminine Taoist acolytes misgender Smokey as male since she still looks the same. Zhu Bajie hesistates to hit on Smokey (despite her very convincingly diguising herself as his wife during his recruitment), since she terrifies him. Smokey still arises from their false death cloaked in blue flame and lava. And still mourns the loss of Fruitie.
NewGods: Bigger plot twist of Ace's identity. No one has figured out her identity for so long (including Ao Guang) cus they all assumed SWK was a guy. Still a giggling, gambling lush. Yunxiang: "Hey whos this drunken, half-dressed old lady offerring to train me in exchange for a motorbike- oh sweet Buddha she's the Monkey King."
1999/2000 Cartoon: Sugar is already femme af. No change.
Netflix: Little character change, though Cherry's story would indirectly become a glass ceiling situation with the Immortals. Men can become immortal by killing lots of evil demons (source: Erlang & Hou Yi), but women gotta suffer (source: Guanyin). Bonus girl bonding with Lin.
Smash Legends: Starfruit leans into gender stereotypes for the views. Goes full tiktok e-girl with her asethetic. Would form punk girl band with Goldie.
And lets not forget how many live-action Sun Wukongs are played by women actors and/or stuntwomen.
Gender bending their Macaques also do not change much. Basically these monkeys could be any gender indentity and still be themselves

I'm losing my fucking mind at this fandom constantly trying to minimize aaron's complexity and woobify him
I can't stand anyone who looks at a chapter of aaron getting to confront andrew's hypocrisy but also getting confronted with his own shitty behavior and the main thing u take away is "omg he said he doesnt hate gay people anymore! Confirmation he's not homophobic!" or "andrew is a horrible person and aaron has done nothing wrong (or the reverse)"
Aaron is literally doing a "i'm not transphobic, i only misgender those trans people who are bad people" but about nicky's sexuality. Him justifying them with nicky's own shitty behavior does not make the remarks he's made any less homophobic. The entire chapter, the way bee questions him and the way he realizes he actually has to explain to andrew that he doesn't have a problem with him being gay shows how much these remarks have not existed in a vacuum, have never only affected nicky, have always, in effect, been homophobic.
This is not me wanting aaron to be homophobic, this is me being pissed about people wanting to rob aaron & his relationships to his family of layers of complexity. About people trying to make a person unlearning bigotry he's aware of and has admitted to into something simple and easy and quick. About people viewing bigoted actions and remarks as only defined by their intentions and not their effect.
Aaron is a damn complex character. He was raised with shitty worldviews and shitty behavior. He literally did used to hate and be disgusted by nicky for being gay. He's unlearning that shit. He's still grossed out by nicky for being a creep. And now he's confronted by the fact that his history of actual bigotry and his displays of disgust at nicky's remarks about others simply do not exist separately from eachother and that that has affected his relationship with andrew. And he gets to sit there and has to actually convince his brother that he doesn't hate him for being gay. Stop trying to minimize the importance aaron's past homophobia and homophobic remarks play in the twinyard's relationship.
Also i'm pissed off how little people are talking about aaron finally FINALLY getting a dig in at andrew's hypocrisy. About how andrew's actions also aren't only defined by his intent to protect but have cause a lot of hurt. About how unfair he's been to others, to katelyn, because he himself hasn't even tried to reflect on his own presumptions and prejudice against the people aaron wants in his life and how they might be wrong.
This bonus chapter is so important to me because it's practically everything i've always imagined their shared therapy sessions would be like. And because andrew getting pushback and aaron getting a chance to voice his stance and perspective and andrew actually having to listen is so important to me. Most of the canon material is so dominated by perspectives sympathetic to and/or protective of andrew and it's so good to get a chapter that isnt that. And obv Aaron's perspective isnt unbiased either, but it balances out somewhat against neil's perspective dominating the narrative. And while bee ofc isnt a perfectly impartial party, therapy with her is the perfect setting to provide this perspective.
I love the TKM bonus chapter and i hate how a lot of people are choosing to talk about it

Hi, I think epilogue Warriors is the hottest (genderfluid) woman ever and so I'm sharing her with everyone. Also Legend is cool too. They could be in hair commercials together.
They're coming back from the castle and Wars is patiently listening to Legend bitch about whoever annoyed him while they were there. He just needs to get it out of his system 😂
Legend (he/him) and Warriors (he/she/they) belong to ASAU, please don't tag any other AUs ✨🏳‍⚧✨
Bonus bc Wars is hot when she's mad:
POV you're one of the queen's generals and you misgendered her top military advisor 🫢

I had some thoughts during work and I'm writing this first thing after lol.
First off, the piercing thing (punk Jade my beloved). I headcannon him with so many piercings lol.
Also, a (as far as i'm aware) popular headcanon is trans fem Jade. My personal headcannons tend to shift based on the context, but i'm rather fond of both he/they and she/they Jade. I just really like the image of Jade in huge cozy sweaters and long skirts. I was just kind of curious on your thoughts about it, if you have any lol.
As always, have an amazing day and an amazing weekend! <3
-🦷
Gender is much more fluid under the sea due to the nature of merfolk and sea creatures. A good portion of merfolk can change their sex if they're not already hermaphrodites, which a surprising amount of them are. The octotrio stick with he/him pronouns because they noticed that it's what most humans who share features with them use. They're impartial to what pronouns they use, but there was a time when Jade and Floyd referred to each other as she/they and as 'sisters' in front of a bunch of students. They just wanted to laugh at the panic they caused the other students for thinking they misgendered some of the two scariest people in school.
They thought it was funny, though Azul did clear up with some of his own dorm's students that the twins, and he didn't care how they were referred to.
Some of their classmates are still scared and exclusively use they/them pronouns for the twins in case it's secretly a joke.
I like to think that Jade tends to stick with his current manner of dress because it's what's expected by humans. But dresses and skirts, especially the long flowy ones, are much more comfortable. More room, not tight, not restrictive. Moving from wearing, really, no clothes to tight, restrictive clothing, is fairly uncomfortable.
When you and him get close together, you two sometimes go out to the town and just walk around and window-shop. It's mostly for you to get more familiar with this world, but Jade likes you, so he comes along.
It's fall when a plush, flowy outfit at one of the boutique stores catches his eye. It's soft, a warm color, and of course very cozy. The skirt is also embroidered with mushrooms, which is a bonus.
You notice him staring, and ask, "Do you wanna try it?"
Jade's surprised at the suggestion, but nods and invites you to try something on with him. He finds himself surprisingly enjoying the comfort of the outfit. The skirt is long and flowy, it reminds him of fins, and the sweater is cozy, though a bit hot for him.
He only really has the clothes that NRC provided him and some clothes he and Floyd bought together after looking at men's fashion magazines and in the men's sections of stores. It's hindsight that neither of them bothered to look at the other sections because this what was expected, but Jade might find himself adding a few more pieces to his normal wardrobe.

Drive Max Disaster | Wade Wilson x Fem!GN! Reader
Content warnings: Language, misgendering, alcohol, fluff <3 <3 Word count: 3,479
Synopsis: Reader is weighed down by the cost of living and needs to find a second job. Luckily, the Drive Max has an opening for an assistant!
a/n: Hello lovelies! I have so many ideas for Wade/Deadpool swirling around in my head, so here is one of said ideas. Of course I did not proofread. This is also my first time writing Wade so let me know your thoughts!!
You sighed in frustration, looking helplessly at your overdue bills on your laptop. Despite working 50 hour weeks, it’s somehow not enough to satisfy the greedy hands of capitalism. You needed a second job. To spare your pride from any more damage, you close the tab where your debt stares into your soul and start looking for some easy-going jobs.
To your disappointment, there were not very many options for part-time jobs. You applied to a few assistant and receptionist positions and decided to treat yourself to a freezer burnt fudge popsicle for all your hard work.
The next morning you were awoken by your phone’s ringtone. You groaned, of course someone would be calling you on your one day off. Without checking the caller ID, you answered groggily.
Your eyes shot open when you heard a man on the other line mention your application for an assistant at the local used car dealership. You sat up and put on your best professional voice and secured an interview the same day.
It wasn’t long until you were stepping out of a taxi in front of the dealership, wearing your nicest business-casual clothes and confidently walking into the building.
An older man who was balding, and what hair was left around his head was pure white, with a matching white mustache approached you.
“Welcome to Drive Max! My name is Cameron, can I get you some refreshments?”
You put on your sweetest smile, “Hi, Cameron. I’m actually here for an interview for the assistant position.”
“Oh, of course! Silly me. I’m going to fetch Peter, our manager and he’ll be conducting your interview.” The man concluded your conversation while showing you to a small office to wait in.
You waited for about 15 minutes before a man, presumably Peter, entered the room looking slightly flustered.
“Hi, sorry about the wait.” The man rambled on about how business was booming and some other bullshit to make his establishment seem like the perfect place to work.
The interview was nothing different than any other than the management seeming more flustered and desperate for help than usual. You did some negotiation with Peter and came to an agreement which included a $3,000 sign-on bonus if you did your paperwork today.
So, there you were. Sat alone in the office Peter was with you moments ago, filling out the most repetitive paperwork you’ve ever read.
A commotion from the front room tore your concentration from the papers before you. You lifted your head and could see a few figures moving around through the blinds. There was also muffled talking, but you couldn’t make out any words.
Suddenly the talking stopped and one of the figures was coming towards the room you were in. Quickly, you sat back down and acted as if you had been minding your own business the entire time. The door to the office swung open and a man with scarred skin and a very obvious toupee made direct eye contact with you.
“You’re the new assistant?” He questioned you.
“... Yes.” You cautiously answered his question.
The man moaned dramatically in relief, “Thank GOD. We have to go get burritos right now.”
You couldn’t hold back the puzzled look on your face, “Oh, uhm… I don’t think… I haven’t started working here yet.”
The man chuckled, “For 3k you do.”
You couldn’t help your jaw dropping slightly. How did this man know all of the details of your employment? Maybe he was the owner…
“Yes, sir.” You put your pen down and followed the man through to lobby.
He attempted to whisper to Peter, but he didn’t lower the volume of his voice at all, “I like this one.”
You couldn’t begin to comprehend what you had gotten yourself into.
The man, who had finally introduced himself as Wade Wilson, led you to a car and tossed some keys at you.
“I call shotgun!” he yelled, diving into the passenger seat.
You narrowly caught the keys and entered the car, starting it.
“So, where are we going?” You asked as you adjusted the mirrors and the seat to be more comfortable.
The man shrugged, “I usually just drive around until I find somewhere that sells food.”
“Okay… how about we use Google?” You proposed, taking out your phone and looking up some Mexican restaurants nearby.
While you glanced over some reviews, Wade began messing with the car radio. Eventually he landed on “Angel of the Morning” and cranked the volume as high as it could go as he began to sing along.
You looked to Wade, dumbfounded. This really must be some big wig’s son or ridiculously rich for this man to have a job, anywhere. You sighed and put the directions up on your phone and started the drive.
The blaring music was beginning to give you a headache and you’d only been driving for 2 minutes. You decided rolling down the windows would, hopefully, make the rest of the drive slightly more bearable. But you were very wrong. The moment you rolled down the passenger side window, Wade began to climb out and sit in the window, still belting out to the next song that was playing.
“Oh my fucking god.” You mumbled to yourself, flicking your eyes between the road and the man half out the window. You turned down the music and tugged on his pants, “Get back in here! You’re going to kill yourself!”
“Oh, calm down.” He said, plopping himself back in his seat, “You never heard of mutants before?”
You glanced at him, your heart racing slightly less now that he had all limbs inside the car.
“Of course I have. I just didn’t know that you were one. Besides, mutants can still die.” You felt a sense of ease as you spotted the restaurant down the road.
“Not me, baby.” He put his feet up on the dash, “100% invincible.” He had a smirk on his face and you could tell he was looking at you out of the corner of his eye to see your reaction.
“Congratulations. Unfortunately I am not immortal, and when you act like a jackass you put other people’s lives in danger.” You snapped just as you pulled into a parking spot. “Go get your fucking tacos.” “Sheesh lady… and it’s burritos, not tacos.” Wade explained as he got out of the car.
You rolled your eyes and called out to him as he walked toward the entrance, “And I’m not a lady!”
He stopped and turned around, “I’ll have you know I’m gender blind! I’m VERY inclusive.” He disappeared into the building before you could think of something to say back.
You sighed loudly and ran your hands down your face. You couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped your lips as you reflected on the entire situation. This was going to be quite the part-time job.
You tried to pass the time by scrolling on your phone, but as the minutes ticked by, you were becoming slightly impatient. And you also wanted some food for yourself. You stepped out of the car, making sure to lock it, and entered the restaurant Wade went into 20 minutes ago now.
You were greeted by the sight of Wade hunched over at a bar stool, wrappers all over the counter, three empty beer bottles, one half full, and a half eaten burrito in his hand.
“Wade!” You sighed and walked up to him, “I thought you were just doing a pick up order or something.”
He looked at you as he took another swig of beer, “Pick up?? Nah, this is my lunch break.”
“Your lunch break? It’s not for work?” You asked, confused.
He shook his head, “Nope.”
You looked more closely examined the man before you and spotted a nametag that read: Wade, beginner salesman.
You sighed and rubbed your forehead. It was your first day and you disappeared with a beginner salesman for an hour… How were you going to get out of this?? “Okay, we need to go back. Before we get in more trouble.” You demanded.
“I’m not done eating yet!” he whined, arguing back like a little kid.
“Dude, I really don’t care. Either come back with me or I’m leaving you here.” You said before walking back outside and getting in the car.
Wade groaned and chugged the last of his beer and stuffed the rest of his burrito in his face and made it back to the car just as you were going to pull away. You gave him a quick glare before driving back to the dealership.
Apparently the man had some sort of conscious and spoke up just as you put the car in park and took off your seatbelt.
“I’ll let Peter know it was all my fault. We’re best buds so he can cover for me.” Wade explained and literally skipped back into work.
You sighed and began the walk of shame to the door. You decided you were just going to finish your paperwork and apologize profusely and hope you get a second chance.
But, you couldn’t help overhear Wade and Peter’s conversation on your way to the office.
“C’mon man, you know I’ve been having a hard time… With Vanessa, the Avengers.”
“I know, Wade, I know. But you can’t keep doing stuff like this. This has to be the last time, I can’t cover you if it happens again.”
“Thanks, peanut.”
You’re also pretty sure you witnessed Wade grip Peters ass when he hugged him after the conversation.
You kept your head down the rest of the day, working on getting all types of paperwork and files organized. It was now 6:30pm and you were gathering your things you left in the office.
“Knock knock.” Wade’s voice sounded off behind you.
You turned around and met his eyes. You had felt bad for him after overhearing that he was going through a hard time, so you gave him a smile. “Heading home?” He questioned you casually, though inside his mind he was cursing himself for being such an idiot to ask if you were heading home. Of course you were going home.
“Yup. Home sweet home.” You chuckled nervously.
“Mmh, yeah. The sweet, sweet home I share with an old blind lady.” He joked, or at least you think it was a joke.
You laughed, “At least you got someone to go home to. Some of us aren’t so lucky to have a blind lady waiting for you.”
“Well, in that case… How about I take you out for a drink?” He was still stoic-ly leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed lazily.
A blush crept onto your cheeks as you turned your head to hide your face from him.
“I dunno, I got another job to get to in the morning.” You rummaged around for an imaginary lost object.
“How about just to apologize? For being an asshole… if I’m not your type, I mean.” His eyes were glued to your ass as you stalled, bent over looking for something even Wade knew wasn’t there.
You felt your face heat up even more. You weren’t sure what it was, but there was something magnetizing about Wade. He was an annoying asshole, but you could also sense there was something deeper to him. You found a random pen under a desk and picked it up to cover for your stalling. You took a breath to compose yourself before turning around to face Wade.
You noticed his gaze had to travel from your waist up to your eyes when you turned to face him, but you decided to ignore that for now, “Okay. But just for a little. I really do have work in the morning.”
“I won’t keep you up too late.” He winked at you and then whipped out his phone to send a text. “Our ride will be here soon.”
You nodded and followed Wade outside. It was just beginning to turn from Summer to Autumn, so the nights started to get a little chilly and the sun was setting sooner.
Within a few minutes, a taxi pulled up. Wade opened the back door for you. His gesture surprised you, but you thanked him and sat down in the back of the car. Wade got in the front seat and quickly introduced you to Dophinder, a friend of his apparently.
“Headed back home tonight Mr. Pool, sir?” The taxi driver questioned.
“Oh, not tonight, Dophinder. Tonight is the night I get my groove back. We’re going to Putt Putt Palace.” Wade said confidently.
“Ohh, very nice choice, Mr. Pool!” Dophinder admired Wade’s choice of establishment and started to drive.
Once you had arrived at the mini-golf course and Dophinder had driven away after gladly taking a high-five as payment, you spoke up, “I thought this was just going to be drinks?”
“Yeah, well ‘Do you want to get drinks’ tends to go over better than ‘I’m going to dominate you at Putt Putt Palace.’”
“Ohhh, so you’re getting cocky now, huh?” You chuckled slightly.
“Oh, like you wouldn’t believe.” He smirked and led the way to pay for a full round of golf and picked out the red putter and ball.
“Damn, red is my favorite color. I’ll do black then.” You said, grabbing the supplies in the color you chose.
Wade gasped softly, “Red and black…”
You looked over at him, “Red and black… it’s a good color combo.”
“It is, indeed.” He smiled and also ordered two extra large margaritas that came on a necklace in one of those comically large, colorful souvenir cups.
“Oh my god.” You chuckled when Wade handed you the drink, “You’re trying to get me drunk, aren’t you?” “I would never! I’m going to win this game fair and square!” He defended himself and put the cup around his neck and walked up to the first hole and lined up his shot.
You watched Wade as he carefully calculated his swing. You gave in and also put your drink around your neck and took some sips, it was awfully convenient.
Wade hit his ball and watched it go around the course and fall perfectly into the hole.
“Fuck yeah!” He cheered and performed a small victory dance.
You rolled your eyes and playfully pushed him out of the way, “It was a lucky shot, Mr. Pool.”
You glanced at him when you used the name the taxi driver addressed him as.
Wade gave you a bit of side eye while he sipped his drink.
You pressed him further, “Why’d he call you that, anyway?” You took your first swing, making it a good amount across the course.
“It’s an old nickname. I don’t go by it anymore though.” he explained, taking glances at your ass and different parts of your body each time you were getting lined up to hit your ball, finally sinking the hole in 3 strokes.
The night went on, the sky growing darker and the conversation between the two of you growing deeper. The fact that you had skipped lunch and hadn’t had dinner yet was definitely weighing on you as the alcohol in your system took effect more quickly than usual. You made it to hole 10 out of 18 before you really started struggling.
You were swaying slightly on your feet, trying to focus and stay still long enough to make a good shot. You went to swing and missed the ball, causing you to break out into a fit of giggles.
“Oops!” You chuckled and began to line yourself up again.
Wade was very amused watching you struggle and become more undone at each hole. But he didn’t want you to fully make a fool of yourself, so he approached behind you and gently placed his hands on your shoulders to help steady you.
“Ooh, thanks.” You smiled and successfully hit your ball this time.
“Hey, how come you’re not drunk?” You looked up at him while his hands were still on your shoulder.
“‘Cause my healing factor won’t let me, beautiful. But believe me, I’ve tried.” He explained and walked over to your ball with you.
You blushed at the name he called you. He’d been doing it all night. Throwing in a “babe” or “beautiful” every so often, and it always seemed so natural, it caught you off guard every time.
He continued to help and also tease you for the next 6 holes. As the game was coming to an end, most other people had left the area by now. As usual, Wade was in his position behind you as you took your swing. As you followed your ball with your eyes, it almost felt surreal seeing it sink a hole in one.
“Oh my god!” You exclaimed. “I did it!! I fucking did it!” You cheered and turned around to shove it in Wade’s face. You were blind to the fact that there was no way you could even catch up to Wade, let alone win the whole game.
Wade was rolling his eyes at your taunts, “Whatever! You’re still not gonna win!”
You chuckled and moved on to the last hole, “Show me what you got.”
You watched Wade’s face fill with concentration as he carefully calculated his next move. Your eyes couldn’t help but wonder down his body. You hadn’t noticed how muscular he was before now. His work uniform hid most of his body, but you could see his biceps flexing as he hit his golf ball.
He hadn’t hit the ball hard enough, because once it got to the middle of a metal loop in the center of the course, it lost momentum and fell out.
“Fuck!” Wade cursed at himself as he stepped aside to let you take your swing.
“It’s okay,” You moved into position at the start of the course and set your ball down, “This way I can watch you when you hit the ball again.” Your inhibited state of mind had you speaking your thoughts before you had any chance to think it through.
Wade’s nonexistent eyebrows raised slightly. Sure, he had been flirting with you and asked you on this date, but he never thought you would actually like him or find anything about him remotely attractive. Up until that moment he had convinced himself you were just trying to be nice to the painfully obviously insane burn victim at your new job.
You lifted your head from your ball to Wade, “You gonna help me or just stand there?”
“Yeah, yeah. Of course.” He had been lost in his own thoughts and for once, left speechless. He moved behind you again and placed his hands on your shoulders.
You had missed the warmth of his body heat, it was almost addicting to have him so close to you. You didn’t realize you had just been mindlessly staring down at your golf ball while relishing in Wade’s presence.
Wade leaned down to lower his head next to your ear and whispered, “Don’t fuck it up, peanut.”
The feeling of his breath against your skin sent a shiver down your spine, there was no way you would be able to focus on the last round of mini golf now. You dropped your club and turned around to face Wade. The most adorable look of confusion was adamant on his face, bringing a slight smile to your lips.
Wade opened his mouth, no doubt to say something idiotic, but before he could you placed a hand on the back of his neck and helped him lean down and captured his lips in a kiss.
You were thankful for the extra courage your drink had given you. There’s no way you would be able to make a move on someone so confident and outgoing as Wade sober. Your kiss was brief, almost innocent. Just a soft meshing of two timid people.
Wade was the one to pull away from you, “What was that for?”
You shrugged, “Dunno.”
Which was true, you didn’t know why you were compelled to kiss the man who almost got you fired on your first day of work, who acted so careless and as if he only thought about himself and his own wants.
You started to lean up to kiss him again, but he stopped you.
“You don’t wanna get into this, peanut. I’m a fucking mess.” Wade looked down at you, a glimmer of hurt in his eyes.
You frowned slightly, “Well, that makes two of us.”
You waited for his response. He was glancing to his left and right every so often, like he was having an internal battle. After a few moments his eyes settled back on yours.
“Fuck it.” he mumbled just before he closed the distance between you and gave you a proper kiss.

Okay I’m really going to try and keep this one actually concise this time. Here goes. Bad Kids, skirts, and gender.
Riz hates skirts. Originally he thought it was a trans thing - while he doesn’t have much, if any, dysphoria about his body, it always hits him hard when people misgender him and skirts are generally viewed as more feminine. And yes, while that was a part of it, he still hated skirts even when he tried one with just his friends around and they never misgendered him (apart from that one time they accidentally deadnamed him because they didn’t understand goblin grammar, but after that they never did it again). He eventually figured out that it was mostly a sensory thing because he also hated Fabian’s pirate shirts because the sleeves were too floaty, and while stolen oversized hoodies were great, if they were too long all of the added fabric did sometimes send him into a meltdown.
Gorgug loves skirts, especially long skirts with big secret pockets that can hold loads of little trinkets. If a skirt doesn’t have pockets, Gorgug will get out their sewing machine and make it have pockets. He is very ambivalent towards gender and takes a pretty open approach to pronouns. He, she, they, xe, whatever you want really as long as it isn’t rude. When Gorgug says any pronouns, most people just use he/they, but xe really does mean any pronouns and it makes her really happy when the bad kids change up the pronouns.
Adaine has a complicated relationship with skirts. She figured out that she was trans pretty early on, and coming out to her parents had not been her choice. It had been a long fight with her parents to make them accept her new name and to let her wear skirts at all. However once she was around people who were much more accepting, she was able to think more about if she actually liked skirts which did end up in a 2am panic attack wondering if she’d been faking being trans the whole time. She hadn’t, she just liked wearing jeans sometimes. It was all fine.
After getting over the whole raised on toxic masculinity thing, Fabian starts having Gender Thoughts (tm). He hates it. He thought he had it all figured out, but now he (she?) is trying on skirts with Mazey and it does feel nice. But liking skirts doesn’t automatically mean he’s a girl because clothes don’t have a gender and guys can wear skirts. But equally, according to Riz and Adaine, cis people don’t normally feel a weird amount of relief and happiness when accidentally hit by a gender swapping spell that lasts 24 hours. But whatever. Skirts are fun. Pronouns and gender are honestly still a bit of a mystery, but Fabian eventually decides that he and she are both fine, occasionally leaning more one way or the other. Where Gorgug’s gender can be described as “no thanks :)” Fabian’s is more “yes :)”.
Fig loves skirts. Big genderfluid energy, but most commonly uses they/them but loves a sprinkling of he and she too. Fig’s gender is basically just “whatever is funniest for the bit”. Fig also loves doing drag for their concerts, flawlessly mixing hyper-masc and hyper-femme. Fig was actually one of the last to come out, partly because it didn’t feel super relevant, but there was also definitely some worry about how Ayda would react. (Ayda was fine with it and after doing some extra research of her own, started using she/they)
Kristen has a pretty simple relationship with skirts. She had been forced to wear dresses and skirts for church, and as soon as she was out of that she stopped wearing skirts completely and didn’t look back. I can never decide if it’s funnier for Kristen to be the only cis one or to be the very last one to figure out that they’re nonbinary (everyone else thought Kristen already knew and just hadn’t come out)
Bonus: Gorgug makes Boggy a little skirt and it is the cutest thing ever.
the thought of every single one of them being some sort of trans amuses the shit out of me. They really do travel in packs.

I don't think player-centric sexuality can be criticized without criticizing male-as-default. Even ostensibly gender-neutral protagonists will be treated as male if the writer setup a scenario that can only work if the protagonist is A) male and B) alienated from women the way a straight man would be. But even still, a lot of assumptions about the audience are built in. Things like gacha or harems having a majority of female characters to collect confessions from, with the minority of male characters being aloof and professional. 1/???
In Snowgrave we force Kris & Noelle into specifically ungendered roles. Noelle is the mage, the girl, soft & malleable - she's also the offense & the stoic one in the face of calamity. Kris is the knight, the human, the commander - they're also Noelle's support & the one who calls for help throughout the route. But I don't think "Snowgrave Kriselle is heterosexual" overrides that. Like, throughout the Weird Route we pigeonhole Kris & Noelle into a pair of functional but imbalanced & codependent roles, isolated from everyone else, and naturalize it through ideas of Love, Marriage, & responsibility. Is that not related?
look, I'm going to be direct about a doylist aspect here that I haven't wanted to bring up as strongly because I didn't want to just come off as snarky: I don't think toby fox, who I suspect accidentally stumbled into writing nb characters to begin with and who has been consistently kind of bad about it, is deliberately writing anything about male as default or the horrors of misgendering. further, i don't particularly want to keep reading people finding reasons to call Kris male in terms of story roles or whatever, because it feels bad and I think people are way too quick to go to male as default.
i do think a lot of what "default RPG protagonist" entails closely overlaps with a heterosexual male view of the world (god knows I've talked w people about the quiet lesbian amusement when a game has a character creator but still has all the women fawn over you), and I do think that has bled into deltarune's critique; toby fox writes a stock RPG romance gone wrong, and that involves the bashful healer girl (who is none of those things) and the strong-willed protagonist (who is none of those things). but i just think reading Kris' role in it as "male" isn't quite how I take it, beyond the background radiation of the world where anything neutral or null will lean male.
snowgrave brings in signifiers of marriage like the rings, and then has them treated as flat objects to be given for bonus affection and better stats. there's no actual bond formed between Noelle and Kris by them giving her a ring, and in fact one ring is traded for another even worse one the second that becomes possible. the relationship is reduced down to equipment and grinding and saying the correct things in the correct order. it's a critique of the flatness of relationships in video games first and foremost, and I think the ways it feels heterosexual are mainly just background radiation

how i think mbav characters would react to you asking for their pronouns:
"I use she/her, thanks for asking." She's the only normal one here.

"Uhhhh, she- they- he/him! he/him."

possesion era hc
!!TW for misgendering and doing bad dysphoric shit to trans people as a form of torture!! (bill during ford's paranoid era)
ok so kinda unsettling but im trans and having a bad time and I keep thinking about this
what if ford, who is trans (either way), in addition to all the terrible things bill did to him during the paranoia era (nailing his hand to a desk, making him do embarrassing things, inflicting awful pain all while controlling his body) also did things to ford's body that were bad and caused him to have awful dysphoria.
If ford was transmasc, bill could do things like destroy his binders /packers or purposefully hurt his rib/chest area in a way that would never allow him to safely get top surgery. He get a could tattoo of something terrible (like a slur or something suggestive), as we've already seen he has no qualms with disrespecting his body like that.If ford were on T he could flush them or cancel any further orders of them. He could fill ford's things with 'girly' stuff or make him wake up with dysphoric outfits...just overall bad stuff.
If ford was transfem, bill could, again, destroy any breast padding/fake boobs, throw away tucking stuff, makeup, etc. He could make disparaging comments on ford's appearance via sticky note on the bathroom mirror, which he already does, but these target her voice, body hair, and clothing. again, real bad stuff. (I'm not transfem so this is my best guess sorry)
Anyways, just some thoughts...I've been looking at lots of trans pines family stuff lately and this just logically seems like something bill would do. bonus points when ford's internalized transphobia (from growing up in the 60's/70's/80's combined with this gives him some insecurities that are fixes with lots of fluff and family hugs post-weirdmaggedon (and you KNOW bill would bring it up during weirdmageddon)
anyways billford in a "extremely toxic ex who did horrible things to his bf and cant get over the divorce but i love the angst and also maybe the marraige au by @ honeqq"
but fiddauthor TRUTH in a "god theyre meant for each other and they grow old not quite together but its the healthy old man yaoi / college yaoi we need and deserve also could fiddleford please be in a beard couple relationhip plsssss it would make me feel much better"

If Earth is a boy now…. WHY DID HE NOT GET RID OF TITTES????
did he keep them for fun??
Like someone calls him a girl and he like “Ooo! Sorry pal, I’m just a guy with boobs!”
LIKE HUH?
ok so i know i didnt answer this ask for a while bc i. forgot. but its been rattling around in my head bc it is genuinely the funniest thing ever i am SO sorry op
but i WILL use this time to talk about my hcs!!! and go in depth with them. going in order so if just you want an explanation for earth just skip to his section
SUN — sits comfortably somewhere in the transmascneu range i think. pangender, encompasses anything and everything. makes little to no effort into really transitioning simply because he has better things to do! he has a solar system to run! also he is above the concepts of gender. whether you think hes more "masc" or "fem" means nothing to him. hes the sun.
MERCURY — the most trans transmasc to ever trans. i dont know if hes more male or nonbinary leaning but that honestly just depends on the day for me personally. probably more nby. he 100% would go through with physically transitioning because the dysphoria is killer
VENUS — literally the complete opposite to mercury, the most trans transfem to ever fem. honestly see her as more butchy, but only really becomes more comfortable with being more masc once she has transitioned (transitioning in this case just meaning socially, though physically i imagine shes on the fence abt it. change and whatnot. she does have a bit of a chest though i think #boobs)
EARTH — transmasc like mercury, but unlike mercury he does not give a FUCKKK!!! i think you're confusing my earth for a trans man, which he very much is not considering hes a lesbian LMFAO. i see him being more bigender/genderfluid than anything, he doesnt really care to transition physically bc he likes his body! he likes the mother earth thing yk. obnoxiously transgender but you still cant misgender him. tragic. also yes he did keep them for fun
MARS — transneu but also doesnt gaf. like im dead serious he did NOTHING to transition no prn change no nothing he just woke up one day and said im agender. hes so iconic
JUPITER — cis i fear... but hes the biggest ally u will ever meet
SATURN — TRANSFEM!!!!! but in a yaoiful way. you know? physically transitioned but still considers himself somewhat male adjacent? but not really??? basically can be described as "what i look like with he/him pronouns in my bio"
URANUS — also transfem! serious gender envy from saturn. shes veeery jealous and i imagine just figured out that shes Girl recently. also dont think it helps that she has a big fat crush on saturn but you didnt hear that from me! i think venus is also gets envious of her and saturn... ura also wants to continue transitioning but i see her as more mid-process
NEPTUNE — transmascneu adjacent!!! genderfluid like earth, doesnt mind being called anything. forgets what pronouns he uses on a regular basis so he'll just respond to whatever you call him LMFAOOO. hes too busy being a goober to persue any kind of physical transition i think but i do like to imagine him with fun top scars.... mayhaps wavey... or trident.... idk it just looks silly with his gills n i like it
NON-PLANET BONUS SPEEDROUND: luna is transfem and nby, titan is nby, triton is unlabeled, callisto is nby, ceres is.... Um, pluto is transfem, astrodude is transmasc, makemake is transmasc, ganymede is.... closeted??, titania is transmasc and nby, the list goes on im sick of writing these

is it unfair for me to hold anger at individuals, or criticize individuals, if covid minimization is not the result of individualized choices but mass messaging and systems at work? im not really sure what to say to leftists who ive spoonfed information who have still decided to “move on” from it, including in their activism. on one hand i understand how they got here, on the other it feels like theyre enacting violence, in the same vein as like misgendering or supporting “blue lives matter” but with the added bonus of them maybe also harming someone directly by refusal to do infection control. i really need to shift my perspective away from a heavily trauma-informed one and start living in the real world where i cant expect anyone to advocate for me, and have to find more systems-based ways to advocate for myself, and releasing some of that anger might need to be a part of moving on from that pov, but a lot of that trauma *is* individualized and resulted from the way people have responded to me, which varies from lukewarm apathy to actively telling me my life isnt worth anything to them. at the same time, it’s impossible for me to feel like i’m not the one in the wrong, when it’s very few people left who care about any of this. sorry for dumping this on *you*, im aware you’re some guy online, but the only ppl i see who still talk about covid are ppl in the same situation as me and are too close to it to assess, or think about it purely on an individual level
i don't think there's anything wrong, bad, or unfair about feeling this type of anger or betrayal. i just also think that this is one of those situations where a (completely understandable) emotional reaction does not form the basis of an effective political platform. both of these things can be true at once; your ethical considerations when navigating interpersonal relationships are not the same as the ethical considerations for someone who wants to style themselves a public health communicator. in an epidemiological sense, a person who reluctantly masks because orgs and public spaces have mask mandates is accomplishing the same thing, materially, as a person who happily masks because they care about their disabled comrades. in that sense there's no need for a public health strategy to focus on 'changing minds' and doing so often just makes people dig in their heels more. but, on a personal level, of course it matters to you whether someone actually cares for you and protects you voluntarily! figuring out how to interact with people in your own life is just not the same as figuring out the most effective mass communication and public policy strategies; what irritates me about many of the twitter-sphere covid communicators is the elision between these two things. having said that, if i can just soapbox for a second:
i try to give these people the benefit of the doubt; i do think many of them mean well and think they are doing what's right. however, the strategy that many of them have coalesced around seems to go something like this: assume that others are not covid-cautious because they are insufficiently frightened; assume this is a failure of individual intelligence-slash-awareness; using the same datasets as the applicable public health agency, interpret all data with any number of assumptions, predictions, and modelling heuristics built in; generate very terrifying infographic, post it, and wring hands when doing so doesn't change anyone's behaviour or state policy.
even in the best of cases i simply think this is ineffective; i would say public attitudes about the seriousness of covid are much more a result of state and public health inaction, ambivalence, and denialism than they are a cause. additionally, interpreting data and making predictions based on them is woolly, and a lack of transparency about their methodology, plus the overconfident desire to present themselves as authorities on the internet, means that this strategy can and does end up producing its own distortions. see, for example, recent 'med twitter' claims that "covid is airborne aids", an attempt to scare people into taking it more seriously that relies on poor and overconfident interpretations of current immunological knowledge; that ends up distorting what we do actually know about covid and the immune system (which is already fucking scary! no lies needed!); and which, as far as i can tell, actually started picking up steam in early 2020 as a right-wing conspiracy theory centred around the claims of dr (not an md) leonard g. horowitz, who argues that covid is a laboratory-engineered virus and uses it in his efforts to sell "resonating silver hydrosol" supplements to you (and your pets!) as "an effective alternative to risky vaccinations and deadly antibiotics".
getting into bed with these people is patently dangerous for obvious reasons. i really do not blame people who are trying to find reliable covid information, and are rightfully wary of state and official sources that have been downplaying this virus for its entire existence, for getting sucked in by twitter doctors when those people are often the only ones who seem to be both posting statistics and taking the virus seriously. however, what i have observed leads me to believe that, firstly, many of these people are motivated by a desire for renown and fame as much as by altruism (welcome to social media). secondly, virtually all of them are fundamentally very liberal in their politics, and this shows in the way they interpret the current state of affairs as a result of individual actions and psychological failures, rather than capitalist policy. this is absurd and leads to absolutely pointless (if not often counterproductive) narrativisation of political action as some kind of magical field where everybody just needs to change their minds and believe in the correct things really hard and then things will change: it's the liberal democratic fantasy that aggregated attitudes create policy out of thin air, no organisation or class analysis or principled communism necessary.
thirdly, a multitude of factors (incl. the paywalling and gatekeeping of knowledge) means that, although state and official interpretations of their datasets are often misleading or outright dishonest because they want to minimise risk, too often the self-styled 'covid communicators' online are not a solution to this and are prone to their own fallacious assumptions, conspiratorial thinking (see again: understanding politics as the product of many individuals believing something really hard, with no analysis of structural factors), poor data analysis, issues with comprehensive data collection in the first place (same as state sources. because they are usually using the same datasets), and a particular rhetorical emphasis on "listening to the science" that often manifests practically as a failure to actually engage with scientific methodology or to questionor improve it where it is lacking, incomplete, or bias-reproducing.
so. these are my issues with the state of covid communication; to me the question of how to navigate interpersonal relationships with people who don't value your life enough to protect it is just very different and the emotional engagement there is also quite different.

More mass effect 1 headcanons from my first playthough (which hasn't gotten through virdmire, much less 2 and 3, so some of this stuff could be blatantly inaccurate.)
- Shepard has more resources than an average Turian or Asari Spectre. This isn't to say their achievements aren't impressive, but Nilus needed to borrow use of a ship, while having enough pull to suggest Shepard for the Spectres.
- This isn't to say that no Spectres have spaceships or anything like that, but Shepard is getting special favors from UNC as "first human Spectre". Most Spectres don't get a personal ship to keep until they buy it with their own credits, and something good enough to use on the job costs billions of credits.
- A top-rank spectre like Saren pre-Indoctrination could probably afford a Normandy-style vessel between ME1 and ME3 without taking loans, however. It would basically total any retirement funds they had, but they could afford it. If this is a thing that they can qualify to purchase, quite a few Spectres have probably commissioned such vessels, or attempted to.
- The council usually does pay Spectres. However, in Shepard's case, this pay is in not noticing or complaining about all the mostly human-favoring side-quests Shepard is running around doing and/or "by the job". Since Shepard has not caught Saren yet, no paychecks are incoming. Hypothetically, the paycheck that would be incoming would probably at least approach a year's GDP for a minor colony.
- Battlefield looting is still a major source of income for Spectres, however. Renegade-leaning Spectres who get jobs done with lots of collateral damage are particularly likely to get their pay docked or completely removed, leaving only all the battlefield loot they can take.
- Technically, while Spectres are entitled to a fairly generous retainer, anything given in addition to that is a bonus. If you saved half a planet by killing the other half, you're probably not getting that bonus.
- Generally, Asari Spectres are more competent than Turian, but Turian Spectres are more common. At peak competence, both are equally represented. This is because Turians have a Spectre pre-training pipeline to get them up to speed, but Asari live longer - and Asari that are inclined to the job generally spend centuries getting better at it, while Turians age out of the job within a single century.
- Because most non-human companies produce Asari armor that they then mark and modify as human when human customers come by, female humans find their armor fits significantly better than male humans, but is also designed to Asari aesthetic tastes.
- The reason most male fashion is still earth-standard, but female fashion has some very adventurous outfits as also because of Asari clothing being sold as women's wear to humans. (In-universe, at least.)
- Any trans shepard who transitioned after they first wore armor noticed the difference, and never mentioned it to anyone.
- Humans frequently misgender Turians. Some let it slide, others have translator mods set up to ensure they don't notice in the first place, and others will confront you about it.
- Some Turian subcultures consider their gender identity to be privileged information. Many from such subcultures default to he/him around humans to mirror their still-male dominated human military and police.
- Garrus is not from such subcultures.
- Humanity has not completely gotten over sexism. It isn't a coincidence that all the Admirals you meet in ME1, and Udina, have male sprites. This has not endeared them to the Asari.
- Asari flirting is incredibly subtle by human standards - there's a reason Liara winds up under the impression any platonically friendly Shepard is interested in her. Admittedly, the curiosity about Asari relationships probably didn't discourage that interpretation.
- Meanwhile, Kaidan and Ashley notice exactly how much they're being singled out by Shepard, which is significantly beyond "professional relationship".
- Kaidan is paranoid about missing someone flirting with him again - last time he got this friendly with another girl, he still thought they were friends when she thought they were on the sixth date. This is also why he confronts fem!shep but not male!shep on their relationship. If he's ever accidentally wound up dating a guy without noticing, he never learned that.
- Ashley generally assumed special treatment from officers means they're sexually interested in her. She's kind of internalized "no, the other guys aren't just being friendly". A lot of Shepard's "ignore her background and treat her as her skills deserve" behavior looks like special treatment to Ashley, even ignoring Shepard's attempts to make friends. As a result... Potentially wrong impressions! (She isn't actually uncomfortable with the perceived advances from Shepard, but they are perceived as advances.)
- Kaidan isn't terribly embarrassed if fem!shep tells him she wasn't romantically interested - he was trying to avoid the worse embarrassment of breaking up with a girlfriend he didn't know he had. It's still terribly awkward, however.
- There's enough wiggle room in the definition of AI that some entities that are legally VI have, in fact, developed early-geth levels of personhood, but learned not to show it. Avina, in particular, is oddly aggressive about "I am a VI and that's not in the scope of my programming" and is likely to have information on the geth in her shared databanks.
- The AI in the citadel faked its death, and is still at large. A nice little narrative wrapped up with a neat little bow? Of course it's lying to Shepard! Playing the villain to emphasize the dramatic suicide bombing, even! The goal wasn't to kill Shepard, but to convince them it was dead, and it succeeded! If it was seriously trying to bomb them, it wouldn't have warned them in the first place! It wouldn't have minded killing Shepard, though.

Submitted prompt: A Third Option
Léonce, a young teen from French Africa, found the Fish Miraculous from the old concept art and has been using it to be a superhero when the need arises back home. When their family moves to Paris, they immediately step up to help Ladybug. Hawkmoth poses such a big danger to the world that Léonce works through their social anxiety to try to offer backup despite that… and Chat Noir 1. misgenders Léonce, insisting they’re a he (Chat Noir/Adrien thinks of being nonbinary as an AFAB only thing) and 2. insists that the other Miraculous user needs to back off ‘his girl’.
Ladybug is disgusted on two different fronts. Firstly, she’s not dating him, and secondly, it’s abhorrent to her that anyone would misgender someone even after they’ve stated their pronouns (in French, Léonce goes by iel/iels or on/ons but not by strictly binary pronouns like il/ils or elle/elles).
She’s already in a bad mood the next day at school when Léonce is introduced to the class and Adrien misuses their pronouns there, too. It’s during that day where she puts two things together.
The first is that Adrien’s defense of himself/statements about nonbinary people are word-for-word Chat Noir’s takes.
The second is that Léonce is a nonbinary AMAB black person speaking with an African francais accent who’s skinny and has a gap in their teeth, a combination so specific that it can only mean she’s looking at the Fish Miraculous user.
Now that she’s had the realization Chat Noir is Adrien, and she knows Léonce’s other identity, she has options. She can choose a new partner. She can talk to Chat Noir about how ridiculous it is to accuse an agender aroace person of wanting to ‘steal’ anyone and how gross it is to imply Léonce is lying about their identity (the pins on their jacket are not for show).
She can sit Léonce down while in Ladybug form and apologize for accidentally figuring out their identity but explain how Chat Noir’s harassment is making the fight against Hawkmoth harder and she could use the help, even if he’s not onboard.
Really, the author can take this a hundred directions from here. The salient point is to have an “another Miraculous user appears” plot where the new character isn’t romantically involved with anyone and we don’t default to “Marinette’s partner as Ladybug should also be her dating partner”.
Léonce and Marinette do not need to be romantically involved with anyone to be heroes or have complete character arcs, even if the show seems to insist romance is mandatory. “Should Marinette be with Luka or Adrien?” Marinette can be with no one and be happy, actually. We’re taking a third option.
Bonus points if even minor villains like Lila or Chloé respect Léonce’s pronouns because, while they are assholes, some things are just repugnant even to them. This definitely kills their crushes on Adrien. It’s hard to be into someone who’s just running around being a bigot for no damn reason all the time.
