Doing white lineart for this was interesting! Especially with the overlaid gradient, so much trial and error trying to get the layers to cooperate lol. This was a very quick piece too, so it was fun!

It's okay! Just mostly double checking with people and resources to make sure I said the right things and that everything was clear. You didn't have any ill intent with it, and now you know for the future (and can maybe inform more people).

Not trying to fear monger or make you feel bad, it's not a moral failing or anything. It's just our job to be responsible in the ways we know how. Mature and explicit content is a part of life, and you're gonna encounter it anyway. Fanfic is actually a safe place to do that, because you can remove yourself if it gets to be too much, and it's all fiction. But there does need to be a barrier between minors and adults.

We're not upset at you because you didn't know, I promise.

Hi, I'm not quite 18 yet (found the fic before seeing the blog said 18+ only, I have filters on to avoid nsfw though), would it be okay if I still drew some fanart and sent it? Completely understandable if not though-

Hi, Kio here! So we have some things to go through regarding legal liability as well as personal preference.

It depends on which fic you mean, because our main entries are marked Mature, which means you had to tell AO3 that you're 18 or older to read it. It's out of our control if you check a box on a website. There's no way we would know unless your age (or age bracket) is listed in your bio and/or you directly interact with us and say so, like you're doing right now. We did what we were obligated to do rating the fics like we have. The series description on AO3 also says our work is 18+, and I've just now added a disclaimer to the beginning note on chapter 1 of Confidential. We should hopefully have covered all of our bases.

However, when you tell a mature creator that you're a minor, you make that creator legally liable for you consuming or continuing to consume said mature work. This is especially dangerous right now. As soon as you turn 18, you're welcome to interact with ASAU because then we won't be in any legal trouble (just maybe don't tell us about you reading it as a minor).

It's also my personal limit that I only discuss the content I make with adults. Mizu is a bit looser on this (still beholden to the legal stuff), but I publish nsfw fic so I have to be especially careful. It just makes me uncomfortable because I know the content of the series (and my personal blog is 18+ so I can reblog what I want without having to make sure every nsfw joke is tagged).

Minors access mature and nsfw material all the time. It's the way that the internet is. But simply viewing is very different from direct interaction, so going forward you should be mindful about how you interact with creators and their work. When you tell someone you're a minor, things have the potential to get very bad depending on how the creator responds. This is nothing against you personally or minors as a whole. It's a large part of internet safety that kids should honestly be told about, along with making your personally identifying information available (don't do it!!!). I can understand why it's not taught, but ignorance doesn't help anyone.

Thank you for your interest, though. If you're still into LoZ when you're 18, we'd love to have you.
